Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #8
Part 1 of 2

Super short tonight Herc patio. I only had time for the highlights. Please fill in what I missed.

Miran’s smile turns into a serious look as he calls one of his minions and asks if there is any news about who started the fire? Keep looking he demands; our lives depend on it. To himself, he says, Reyyan, if you only knew the fear I have in my heart.

Zehra awakens with a start, calling for Reyyan. She is in bed alone and thinks back to all the things that have happened, including the call about her sick mother. She wonders out loud, what should I do? I have my mother on one side my daughter on the other. Hazar enters the bedroom. They have a back-and-forth discussion about Zehra leaving to see her mother. Hazar promises that Reyyan, Gul and he will be just fine. She has flash back memories to several conversations including the one with Esma when she received the letter. She decides to go to her mother bedside. (The patio hopes it is for a VERY long time).

ReyMir arrive at the hotel restaurant. Miran chooses a table and tells Reyyan he needs to speak with Firat quickly and will order breakfast on his way. She tells him to come back quickly. Out walks Reyyan in in walks Harun. He sees Reyyan from behind and makes a beeline to her table, introducing himself after some playful observations about the Sadoglu family. Reyyan says she didn’t know that Yaren was engaged and she congratulates him. Miran walks back in and sees them chatting and laughing. He immediately gets angry and hauls Harun up by his arm, demanding to know what he is doing talking to his wife?

Harun makes fun of Miran, calling him a ‘transformer” who should calm down and ground himself back to earth, nothing is going on here. Reyyan has to physically restrain Miran from taking more action. She invites Harun to sit and join them for coffee. Miran is clearly put out and Harun just pushes his buttons more. (It is a pretty funny dialogue that I don’t have time to recount). In the end, Miran tells Harun to leave in a very rude way and Reyyan is very put out, telling Miran that he would fight with his own shadow. She gets up and leaves him, he follows sputtering that he will fight with his shadow if it is flirting with her. (Great, now we have jealousy fits to deal with).

Handan is in the kitchen and gets annoyed when she learns that Azat requested “breakfast in bed.” She goes to Elif’s bedroom and tells her she must eat with the family. Azat comes into his, now Elif’s room and finds Handan there. Elif isn’t upset, in fact she looks rather lovely in a dress and boots. Handan says she was just there to tell them breakfast was ready. Elif confirms that they should join the family for breakfast, especially after what happened the night before. (She is trying to keep the peace).

Azize visits Grannie Sukran and demands to know who gave her the note. Gonul in pounding on Sultana’s door, there is no answer. She has the guard break in and finds the room empty. Sultana isn’t answering her phone either. HAG comes in and says she left to Kars late last night. Gonul is having a hard time believing that her mother wouldn’t tell her she was leaving. Miran and Reyyan arrive at the konak. He demands to know why the door isn’t being watched by the guards. Gonul tells him her mother is gone. HAG tells the same lie to Miran, she is in Kars. Gonul says that cannot be right and demands to know what HAG did with her mother where is she? Where is she? Here I am, says Sultana, waltzing triumphantly back into the courtyard. The look on Azize’s face is priceless

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #8
Part 2 of 2

Sultana goes into a memory flashback. She is tossed into a padded room in the manicomio that she apparently has “visited” before. She pounds the walls saying she cannot stay there again. She has a vision of Azize telling her that that she warned her and then Sultana is face to face with her very unattractive husband, Ahmet, who says, “have you missed me Sultana?” She continues to meltdown, even hearing her lost baby crying. She pulls herself together telling the Azize mirage that she should lock her door, Sultana will kill her.

Back in the real world, Azize kindly tells Sultana, why are you back from Kars so soon? Playing her game, Sultana says, I realized I couldn’t leave Gonul, so I am back. There is some back and forth between HAG and Miran about him not being around so HAG made decisions. Sultana claims she has a splitting headache and staring down the surprised Azize, she saunters off to her room to lie down. HAG tells Gonul not to follow, she will go talk to Sultana and check on her.

In the meantime, Gonul and then Firat tell Me-ran that he has turned his back on them and according to Gonul, he only cares about Reyyan. Frustrated, Miran takes the stairs, two at a time, yelling “basta!”

Azize demands to know how Sultana got out of the manicomio? Sultana is a total smartass (another great conversation I don’t have time to recap) and tells Azize to count everyone who she has harmed. There is this person who save her and is out for venganza and Sultana is no longer afraid, it is Azize who should be afraid of this new enemy. Leaving the room, Azize thinks, who are you?

Grannie Sukran and Reyyan talk. GS says she thinks Azize had something to do with the fire. She also wants to go back to her home to speak with Reyyan in private. Miran come in and agrees they all need a change in scenery

Gul cries because Zehra is leaving, the rest of us cheer, until I see the stupidest move to date: Zehra hides “the letter” in the zippered outer dress of Gul’s doll. (Like this doll won’t get washed, run over, lost or left somewhere by a 6-year-old kid). Zerah then calls Azize and demands to see her at a park immediately.

The episode ends in the park with Azize demanding to know what the hell Zehra wants to talk about.

Thanks very much, VVS, for this excellent recap. You've captured everything important, and you've added some delightful comments.

Though Harun drives me nuts, Miran actually drove me even more nuts in the scene with Harun. Miran showed himself to be absurdly jealous with no reason whatsoever. You commented, "(Great, now we have jealousy fits to deal with)," but we've had his jealous fits to deal with long before this. For example, his visceral responses to Azat. Indeed, if a puppy dog stopped by Reyyan's table and she started to pet it, I suspect he'd attack the dog.

I wonder what Sukran wants to say "privately" to Reyyan that necessitates returning to Sukran's home.

I loved the scenes with Sultana. I was astonished when she appeared back at the konak after Azize had apparently had her locked up at the manicomio again. I loved the smug look on Sultana's face and your describing her "waltzing triumphantly back into the courtyard."
I was also interested in what the doctor said to Sultana. He tells her that her stay is over, and that he can't tell her who she should thank for this, but they ask her to give regards to Sra. Azize "from an old friend. They say she'll understand." That makes me wonder whether the "old friend" is Nasuh. It's hard to believe that he's sufficiently on top of things to know that Azize has tried to put Sultana back in the maniocomio, but who else could be described (sarcastically but perhaps also literally) as "an old friend"?

I share your astonishment at Zehra's hiding Dilsah's crucial letter in Gul's rag doll. You do a great job of explaining just how stupid and potentially disastrous a choice that is.

Like Azize, I too would like to know what the hell Zehra wants to talk about. I guess we'll find out tomorrow. Given some of the other ideas Zehra has come up with, I'm not optimistic about this one.

Fatmagul

Thank you, Dondi for another wonderful recap! I so appreciate it and especially when you tell us where scenes are cut and where the Turkish version differs!

I am so confused about something. In the beginning, Kerim gave Fatma a power of attorney authorizing her to get a divorce which clearly implies she can't get divorced without his permission, and then later when he told her he didn't want a divorce he straight up said she couldn't get a divorce if he didn't agree to it, I just assumed that was something in the Turkish culture. But now when Meltem wants a divorce she can just get one??? No one in the Yeseran camp wants her divorced yet we don't hear anyone telling her she can't get a divorce without her husband's permission, instead, they are all like let's calm her down and change her mind so she won't file for divorce! Why can Meltem file for divorce but not Fatma? If anyone knows, please clear this up for me. I have a very detailed-oriented mind and this is going to drive me crazy.

It was interesting seeing Kerim panic and hurry to put his shirt on quickly. LOL You would expect it of course from Fatma if the roles were reversed but I am not really sure why he was so uncomfortable at that moment unless it was just him thinking of not making her uncomfortable.

I LOVED LOVED LOVED in your recap how you described the scene between Kerim and Mustafa and asked (Does Kerim have a death wish) while he has holding a gun to his own head (or heart) and saying kill me....um, yeah I think that might be a thing. So funny! It did stand out though as a contrast to Mustafa who has always worried about himself and his honor and what they did to him; that Kerim was only worried about Fatma, what she needs, her innocence, and that no one hurt her. It really makes you wonder how someone with so much protective instinct can be so devoid of it that one night. Do drugs and alcohol affect you that much? Take you out of your own instincts that much? I honestly wonder this...I am not one to just accept 'I was drunk' or 'I was high' as an excuse so easily, but then you hear stories about people hallucinating and jumping off buildings because they think they can fly, and stuff like that; and it makes me wonder...Although that's not how this is painted. It's painted as if Kerim was aware of what was happening and just didn't do anything to stop it which makes you wonder how/why he acted so out of character.

And then he tells Fatma he begged for HIS life?? Hmm....

I just knew this drinking game idea was capable of bringing on alcohol posioning! I am really enjoying this show and I like the more subtle quiet pacing but Kerim yelling Erdogan (or however you spell it) at the top of his lungs several times when he arrived at the house was a peak at melodrama at its finest! He sounded like he got suddenly thrown into a Shakespearean tragedy.

I love the detail of having Murat just innocently and spill all the beans by talking to Erme about the attack naturally like any kid would.

I don't even care that Mustafa shot Selim. I just wish he would have shot Edro instead, or better yet shot him too. And Resat. And hey Munir too, why not?

Fatmagul

Thank you, dondi356, for the highlights of #18.

The nighttime conversation between Fatmagul and Kerim was important. Even though Fatmagul showed doubts and rejection, she listened to what he had to say, looking in his eyes, and she might think that some of it could be true.

Fatmagul happens to hear Meryem and Kerim's conversation again, like she did when he said he was falling in love with her. This time it was about the events of the night on the beach and what they thought and felt. The fact that they didn't know Fatmagul was listening gives some credibility to what they were saying.

Could this be the moment when Fatmagul starts to trust Kerim?

herc

Thank you Juanita for your detailed and astute comments. I appreciate you filling in more content and perspective. Who is the “old friend” that saved Sultana? Is the old friend friends with the Master Note Writer? Or maybe is the note writer? So many questions!

Herc

Thank you so much VVS! I only got to see through Miran’s pitiful fit of jealousy before I was interrupted for the rest of the episode. So I do really appreciate your recap! I don’t like Harun. I think he is a sociopath with torture tendencies. Plus he seems a bit on the narcissistic side. Even so, I think him and Yaren are well matched! I like Miran, but I don’t like more than a few of his characteristics with this jealousy thing being one of them. He knows Reyyan only has eyes for him, and after so many bad, bad, moments of late, why can’t he just be happy without all the drama!

Glad Sultana threw a wrench in Azize’s lying azz, but who is the mystery person doing all this??? I’m ready for a clue, any clue!

Zehra bores the crap outta me, but I suspect she’ll threaten Azize with the fact that she knows Miran is Hazar’s son——-another thing for Azize to lie her way out of…..

Thanks again VVS! No matter how much you think you didn’t add, you did me a real solid! 😁

Fatmagul

Dear Dondi, thank you so much for another superb recap of all the drama.

Yes, I think we can drink when someone says " Kill me" as well as " I will kill you \him\ them. Cheers .... lots of threats being bandied about.

Even though I have seen this show before ( in a haphazard manner...middle, end, beginning), it is still difficult to watch the anguish that Fatmagul and Kerim are both going through. Engin's face, eyes, body language telegraph his shame , guilt, and longing as he tries to gain Fatmagul's trust while feeling that he doesn't deserve it. Being loved by the person you love is the best feeling in the world. I can't imagine what it would feel like to be despised by the person you are hopelessly in love with .

As if this situation isn't awful enough, there's Muka stirring the pot and making everything worse. Also, she is such a busybody that she has to constantly eavesdrop and snoop so that nobody in the household has any privacy . Love the fierce but frustrated look that Kerim gets on his face when Muka says or does something mean to Fatmagul or tries to nag and boss him around.

P.s. Autocorrect always turns Kerim into either Kevin or medium. Ha

I am copying dondi's fine recap to Page 2

Fatmagül #18 part 1

Scenes condensed and combined.

Selim and Meltem have a big argument in their hotel room. Meltem says she only went through with the wedding because of her family. But she can’t live with this uncertainty, so she wants a divorce! Erdo has returned from doing “nothing important” and listens outside the door. [Did you like how he told the “bridesmaids” to decide who gets to dance with him?]

Mustafa is restless and decides to take a self-guided tour of the house. He admires the fancy furnishings. Then he makes his way up to Erdo’s bedroom. He goes into the walk-in closet. He runs his hands over the suits, picks up a bottle of cologne, tries on a pair of sunglasses. Ah, a drawer full of watches.

Halide goes to look for him and catches him in the act of trying on a watch. She tells him this isn’t proper. He tells his mother he will buy a house like this one. His mother doesn’t want that. She’s not after riches and tells him to stop dreaming. He reminds her that the Yasarans started out like them and look at them now [yeah, look…] Halide is happy with the life she has. She warns him not to go upstairs again.

Fatma has prepared some of Meryem’s potions for Kerim. Oops, she opens the bedroom door and Kerim is shirtless. He hurries to put it back on. A little awkward, but Fatma places the tray down and explains what she brought. She can hardly look at him. He thanks her and she leaves. While Kerim tends to his bruises, Fatma cleans up the broken glass and puts a table by the door.

Murat calls for his “hala” and Fatma goes to him. She locks the bedroom door and gets into bed next to her nephew.

Meryem is ticked about the real estate deal and Munir’s involvement. Muka tells Meryem she’s wrong. Meryem does some detective work. She calls the buyer and pretends she is Munir’s assistant. Did the sale go through? The buyer confirms that he texted Munir immediately, both houses were purchased. [busted!] Meryem shouts, tell Munir is game is over and he will be sorry!

Now Meryem wants an accounting from Muka! Muka tries to play dumb, but Meryem wants the truth. Why did they want us out of town? Selim and Erdogan are guilty, too, right? Meryem shouts, tell me everything! Muka admits the Yasaran boys are guilty.

Selim tells Resat and Munir that Meltem wants a divorce. Resat is furious. Munir says they will find a way to convince Meltem. If that wasn’t bad enough, the buyer calls Munir to tell him their plot has been discovered.

Muka spins her story. They are so powerful, we had no choice but to stay silent. Rahmi says Munir promised to help them. Muka adds, they’d kill Kerim if we spoke. Meryem is livid. Muka says, your son, Kerim, is not so innocent. He was the first to accept money. Muka swears on the Quran [hope she bursts into flames!] They offered him money to marry Fatma. That’s how they convinced him. Meryem is horrified. [Muka is real slick using the Kerim angle with Meryem to deflect from her own sins.] Muka says Fatma and Kerim will be the ones to suffer, so calm down.

Fatma is wide awake. She gets up and goes into Meryem’s room. Kerim is asleep. She looks him over and he wakes up. Uh…. I just came to get the tray… she fumbles with it. Kerim asks if Murat was scared. Yes. And how are you, he asks? I see those idiot’s faces when I close my eyes, she replies. They broke into my house. He touched me, but I’m ok.

Kerim tells her he is not one of them. Say that a thousand times, maybe you will believe it, she answers. If I was one of them, Kerim says, would they have done this? They are scared of me as much as they are of you, he adds, because they know I didn’t harm you. Kerim says, they think we are acting. Fatma says there is no “we.” Kerim responds, we are on the same side whether you see it or not.

Fatmagul #18 part 2

Never, she says. Stop trying to justify yourself! Kerim says, my conscience will never be clean even if you forgive me! I didn’t protect you, I’m guilty. But please understand that I am not one of them. You can trust me. I will always protect you.

Fatma leaves him. He gets a call from Meryem. I know everything, she says. I know how they sold you to carry the blame. Fatma knows too, am I wrong? You fooled me, she says with tears in her eyes. You accepted their dirty money! If I were that girl, I’d spit in your face! She rips into Kerim, I asked you that night but you remained silent! Not because you were scared, but because of money. He says he will tell her everything when she returns. She closes the call, shame on you… and on me.

Emre shows up early next morning. He wants to know what happened. Did you have a fight, he asks Kerim. With whom? Kerim asks Emre to stay with Fatma for a while. He has something to do. Kerim walks and Emre calls after him, if you’re going for revenge, don’t go alone. Don’t get into trouble. Fatma runs from the house. Where are you going?! Kerim turns to give her a look. She runs back into the house and he drives off.

Meltem keeps up the act in front of her parents. They assume the couple is going off on their honeymoon. Once her parents leave, Meltem says she’s not going on any honeymoon. We will be divorcing soon. Resat talks her into coming back to his house.

Murat tells Emre how the bad guys came to the house and attacked his uncle. One of them broke the door and came inside. Fatma hears and stops the storytelling. Emre goes to talk to Fatma while Murat watches TV. We are not strangers, he says. Tell me what happened, maybe I can help. Fatma’s not talking. Emre asks, was it your ex fiancé, Mustafa? How do you know about him? Asu told. Did he attack Kerim? Fatma says she doesn’t know who attacked. Don’t ask.

Halide and Emin go over to Resat’s to help with something. Mustafa is alone.

Asu comes to visit Vural. She says she knows why he was so weird. You thought Mustafa sent me. I didn’t know you were friends. I saw your picture in his pocket. My photo? Asu says, Kerim and two others are in the photo, too. Vural says they are not friends. But you know, Kerim and Fatma, right? Well, help them. Mustafa is going to do something stupid. I know he’s going to kill them both. Please stop him.

Meryem, Muka and Rahmi return home and see the window being repaired. Murat runs out and tells his father there was a fight last night. Lots of men beat up my uncle. Fatma nods yes to confirm. She explains what happened. Murat adds that they broke into the house and told his hala that they would kill everyone.

Kerim pulls up to Erdo’s house and goes to the front door. He rings the bell. He bangs on the door. Mustafa is cleaning his clothes off from yard work and hurries to get dressed again. Kerim gets impatient and starts yelling outside the house for Erdogan. I’m here… alone!

Kerim goes around the side of the house and shouts for Erdo again. Mustafa sees him through the window and runs to get his gun. Kerim finds an open door and enters and in an instant, Mustafa’s gun is pressed against his temple.

Mustafa says, you came to me on your own, idiot. I’m going to kill you here and now. Kerim tells him Erdo is using him as a pawn. Mustafa replies that Erdo has nothing to do with what has happened between them. Kerim makes a move and the two begin to struggle. The gun drops, punches are thrown. Kerim gets the upper hand and gets the gun. He presses it to Mustafa’s head.

He tells Mustafa, Fatmagul has no fault. The others stained her innocence. Kerim lays it all out. That night, near dawn, Fatma was running to see you off. She ran into us. We were drinking at Selim’s engagement party. We were all drunk.

Fatmagul #18 part 3

What are you saying, Mustafa yells. Kerim yells back, Fatmagul has no fault! First, she was trapped by Erdogan Yasaran, then Selim Yasaran, then Vural. I did nothing but I didn’t protect her. It’s not her fault. Don’t hurt her, Mustafa! You did enough harm by turning your back on her. You didn’t protect her either.

Kerim lets Mustafa up but keeps the gun pointed at him. Do you know who is guilty? Erdogan, Selim and Vural. Me, too. Fatma is not guilty. Kerim puts the gun in Mustafa’s hand and brings it up to his own head! Kill me, he tells Mustafa. (does this count as a drink?)

Meryem can’t reach Kerim. She wants to go to the police.

With the gun on him, Kerim looks Mustafa in the eyes and says he came to settle accounts with Erdo but found him instead. I’m going to kill you, Mustafa tells him. (drink) Do it, Kerim replies, but promise me you won’t hurt Fatmagul. Fatmagul didn’t betray you. With your gun on my forehead, I give you my word. Mustafa has flashbacks to seeing Fatma in the hospital after the attack.

Kerim continues, you believe the Yasarans’ story without thinking of her. You abandoned her. And I married her. Kerim declares, I love Fatmagul. [does Kerim have a death wish?] Kerim grabs Mustafa’s hand and places the gun into his chest. Kill me, he tells Mustafa (drink?) but I beg you not to hurt her. What a surprise, Mustafa lowers the gun. Emin comes back to the house and calls for Mustafa. A devastated Mustafa tells Kerim to leave.

Muka tries to stop Meryem from talking to the cops. Even Fatma is worried, they made death threats. Meryem talks to the cop, Emre’s friend. She tells him Kerim is in danger. Muka makes “crazy” signs behind Meryem’s back. The cop thinks this whole family is crazy.

Kerim calls Meryem. He asks her to take care of Fatma, he told Mustafa everything. The women leave the police station and head home.

The cop’s curiosity is piqued. He wants to investigate the strange happenings around this family. He contacts Emre to find out more about the renters. He tells Emre they accused the Yasarans of wanting to kill Kerim. Then there was that prostitute thing. He’d like Emre to come down and have a talk.

Resat wants to meet with Mustafa so he heads to the office. Mustafa puts clues together. The orderly at the hospital who mentioned the Yasarans. Mustafa crumples the pic of the 3 +1 and screams as he drives.

Resat sends his assistant home and wants the floor cleared so no on sees Mustafa arrive.
It’s very tense at Resat’s house with the arrival of the newlyweds. Meltem wants nothing to do with Selim so he leaves for the office.

Fatma worries that Kerim might have done something to Mustafa.

Mustafa arrives at the office building and flies up the stairs and into Resat’s office. Resat lays the groundwork. They tried to keep Kerim away from him but they can’t control him anymore. Resat tells him where Kerim and Fatma live. If you want to go talk to him… Mustafa pulls out his gun and says, what if he found me first?! That idiot told me everything.

Kerim arrives home. Right away Fatma asks him, what did you do to Mustafa? [good grief, she worries about that jackass!] Nothing, Kerim replies, I just told him the truth about that night. Fatma doesn’t believe him. Mustafa wouldn’t have let him live. Kerim snarks, maybe he spared my life because I begged.

Meryem wants to report this to the police. Kerim doesn’t care and walks. Muka calls after Kerim, you’re out of danger but what about the girl? Kerim assures, no one will harm Fatmagul. I swear with my life.

Selim enters the office and a startled Mustafa turns and shoots him in the gut. [he should have aimed a little lower]

Fatmagul

Thanks, everyone. And thanks to Juanita for fishing part 3 out of the spam folder. I love reading your comments.

As happy as I am that this is being broadcast in the US, watching this in Turkish is so much better. Sadly, the cultural richness is sometimes lost in translation. Hearing the original voiced emotions to match those Turkish looks and gazes takes it to another level.

About divorce: From what I’ve seen in dizis, there is contested or a consensual divorce in Turkey. I could be wrong, but I think the power of attorney was so Fatma could get legal representation to start proceedings. Kerim wasn’t going to contest divorce at first. Now he will contest if she files the petition.

Contested divorce are obviously messier. Fatma and Meltem would have to prove their husbands were at fault for something. I believe committing a crime is among the legal grounds for divorce. That would have to be proven in court. Evidence, witnesses, etc.

Whatever the type of divorce, I think both parties must be present in court to finalize it. I think that the public can attend divorce proceedings unless a special request is granted for privacy. It would make sense that the Yasarans would want to stop Meltem from seeking a divorce, risking their exposure.

Yes, Darcy, a huge contrast between Kerim and Mustafa. Wise up, Fatma! As for the drink and drugs effect, remember that Kerim did not rape Fatma. Even though he couldn’t remember, he thought he could never have done such a thing. Yes, he didn’t help her, but I think that besides being impaired, he was in shock over what he saw. Now he's left with a ton of guilt.

“don't even care that Mustafa shot Selim. I just wish he would have shot Edro instead, or better yet shot him too. And Resat. And hey Munir too, why not?” lol, Darcy.

More little steps forward, Lucio. We will see where they lead.

I agree, Susanlynn, already knowing what’s going to happen doesn’t make it any easier.

I'll try to put something up for today's show later tonight.

Fatmagul #18 part 4

Meryem starts the inquisition. Fatma listens in on their conversation. I’m going to give you the Turkish here. Meryem starts, you took their money and you covered their dirt and remained silent. Kerim replies, not for money, I didn’t even touch it. Why, then? No more lies!

I did it for Fatmagul, he says. I saw her, she wanted to die. Just like my mother. I hated my father all these years. My mother died because of him. And Fatmagul was going to die because of me. Until I saw my own face in the mirror, I thought my greatest enemy was my father, who I carved out of the pictures. My father, whose face I don’t remember anymore. That’s why I wanted her to live. I didn’t want to suffer anymore. I selfishly wanted her to live.

Meryem says, you told me the first day you didn’t do it. I didn’t do it, Kerim shouts. Vural confirmed it. But back then, my mind was a mess. I don’t remember anything at all. But I felt my guilt here, like a heavy rock. He hits himself in the heart. I didn’t do anything to save her. That’s why I am as guilty as the others. Fatma has been listening and she has tears in her eyes.

Meryem says she feels guilty, too, because she shut up and accepted it. If Fatma would forgive you my heart would feel a bit lighter. She continues, now it’s their turn to suffer. Kerim says, the only one who suffers is Fatmagul. Fatma can’t listen to it any longer and hurries off. Kerim and Meryem spot her running back into the house.

The ambulance comes for Selim. They are going to take him to a doctor that will keep this under wraps. Vural calls Erdo. Mustafa knows. Erdo knows already and tells him that Mustafa just shot Selim.

Mustafa is taken to a lower level of the building. Ismail shouts for Mustafa to hand over his phone. I told you to act wisely. What you did is beyond forgiveness. Mustafa says they will pay. And you, Ismail asks, how will you pay? You think Resat will let you get away with this? You signed your death warrant with that bullet. Look around. If they want, your future will be as dark as this place. You can’t leave. Now you can cry for your miserable life. Mustafa is locked in.

Meryem tells Fatma to get ready. We are going to the prosecutor. We will file a criminal report and they will be punished. Muka has something to say about that. But Meryem won’t be dissuaded. Fatma says she won’t file a report. Don’t be afraid, Meryem says. I’m not afraid, Fatma replies, they won’t listen. They won’t believe. I married that man. I accepted it because they said Mustafa would kill us. Now I know he doesn't care. He forgot me. He has another. He’s a Yasaran man.

Muka and Meryem argue. Fatma tells Meryem she doesn’t want to relive those moments. She doesn’t have the strength. God will punish them in His way. Fatma leaves the kitchen.

Muka comments that Fatma doesn’t want Kerim arrested. Because they are in love.

Meryem is frustrated.

And we are out.

Thanks for copying my recap to the proper page, novelera. I see we were posting at the same time. So my Fatmagul comment was posted in the middle of it Ugh.

Thanks so much, VVS, for providing the “highlights” and some lowlights even though you were pressed for time. Much appreciated.

Yes, this—“She [Zehra] decides to go to her mother bedside. (The patio hopes it is for a VERY long time)”. Unfortunately, we will probably see her screw things up again tonight before she leaves. And I agree, that was stupid to hide the letter in the doll.

Sultana’s return was a pleasant surprise for me. Those scenes, in the manicomio and with Azize, were well done. I think this must be the note writer’s doing. Can’t wait to see who it is!

I really enjoyed watching Harun stick it to Miran. Miran is such a jerk. I think Harun is a very interesting character and I like how the actor is playing him. I’m kind of hoping that Harun doesn’t turn out to be a full-on abusive psycho.

Did I say Miran is such a jerk? I thought “Me-ran” was totally out of line with Gonul and Firat.

I couldn't believe Kerim putting Mustafa's hand holding the gun to his head and telling him to kill him . I guess it was a desperate attempt to deflect Mustafa's anger toward Fatmagul . Kerim is willing to give his life to protect her. He slowly carefully named each of her rapists and then made it clear that he was guilty of letting the rapes happen . I was glad that Kerim pointed out to Mustafa that neither of them protected Fatmagul , the woman they both love...Kerim during the attacks and Mustafa after them .

Thanks so much, VVS. Never apologize for a short recap! You definitely hit the high (and the low) points.

Wow! I was hoping Reyyan would refuse to speak to Miran for at least the whole episode and maybe for the whole week. The Patio knows Harun is a bad guy and he was kind of lusting after Reyyan, but his behavior was perfectly correct since he's about to be part of her family. Miran needs a swift kick in the hindquarters, maybe 5 times each episode.

And he also behaved badly to poor Firat and Gonul. Gonul is trying once again to get Firat to use his financial POA or whatever he has to stick it to Miran and (probably) Reyyan.

I loved when Sultana marched back in with that triumphant face and Azize looked like she'd been hit by a Mack truck. This dizi loves to show scenes that shock and/or surprise us and then circle back for what actually happened. Yes, the person who sent the notes got her out of the manicomio. I don't think Nasuh is the one. He's more of the bull in the china shop kind of guy. I don't think that subtle drip...drip...drip kind of revenge is in his nature.

Good Granny doesn't back down to the HAG, does she? I wonder what other kind of secret she has up her sleeve.

The very important letter in the doll's clothing is not a great idea, but it's better than the one I thought Zehra was going to try. I expected her to meet Azize in the park and show her the letter, giving HAG a chance to grab it and tear it up. I noticed HAG brought Mahmoud to the meeting in the park. Uh oh!

fatmagul

I am caught up. Nothing like a four-day weekend to give you some extra time. I was ready to quit on it, but there have been signs of some changes coming to the relationship between Fatmagul and Kerim.

Monday's episode was terrific. They've neatly gotten rid of the constant threat of Mustafa, now that Kerim has convinced him that the Yasaran cooked up the big lie. Both actors were fantastic in that scene between them. Mustafa was furious at first at being confronted with the fact that HE had hurt Fatmagul almost as much as the rapists. But Kerim, apparently more physically powerful than Mustafa, held him down and forced him to listen.

I'm pretty sure Mustafa will somehow get away. I expect him to be an item with Asu eventually. And the rotten ricos senior and junior don't dare have him arrested in case he spills the beans. And I agree with whoever said they wished he'd shot Erdogan instead!

I feel that a big, big reason Resat wants to cover up Meltem wanting a divorce is because he's wanting Turaner's money. Also, I just looked at your cast description, dondi, and it mentioned Turaner's being a politician, so maybe it's influence as much as money that Resat wants.

Thank you carmella, dondi356 and novelera for the comments on the shorter recap.
Looks like we are all in agreement about Miran’s continued selfish behavior is annoying, Zehra is stupid, Sultana got one over on Azize and Grannie Sukran is awesome! We seem to have mixed opinions on Harun, but that makes this all the more fun!

herc

Novelera, I pretty much agree that the person responsible for freeing Sultana is not Nasuh, but I couldn't think of anyone else who could have been described as "an old friend," except perhaps for Esma. Hmmm....

Glad you're sticking with it for now, novelera.

You're right about Resat wanting Turaner's political influence. He wanted his political help on the land deals. And Turaner will be a silent partner in something that Resat is planning.

Fatmagul #19 part 1

Cut scene: Perihan goes to Meltem, who is up in bed. She tries to talk her into coming down and joining the others. Meltem wants to be alone. No one needs to be acting anymore, she says. You’re hurting me, Perihan replies. I’m the one who is hurt, Perihan Hanım, Meltem responds, I trusted your word. I can understand that. You’re his mother and naturally on his side. But as a woman I would expect you to feel for me. Perihan asks, you still believe the slander? Meltem doesn’t want to argue. Perihan leaves.

Meanwhile Halide is in the kitchen with the other help. One of the help [don’t remember her name] asks if the bride has come down yet. She asks Yadigar, do you know a woman named Fatmagul? That gets Halide’s attention. Yadigar doesn’t know. The help spreads the gossip, they say that everything happened after the phone call. I heard Gaye talking about it. Someone named Fatmagul called Meltem. And all hell broke loose.

Halide asks what happened. The help obliges with an answer, Meltem fainted after she got married. Who knows what she said, but the married couple had a big fight and they were afraid the wedding would be canceled.

Yadigar tells Halide that she can leave, the work is done. Thanks for your help. Halide leaves and Yadigar tells the help, it’s not good to gossip. You wouldn’t want Perihan Hanım to find out.

Meryem is tending to Kerim. He complains that she is hurting him. She tells him he is lucky she is helping him at all. He is lucky to have her and Fatmagul. Meryem says she couldn’t get Fatma to go to the prosecutor’s office. She said she can’t relive that nightmare.

Meryem continues, who knows what will happen now. Fatmagul spoke. Mustafa knows. We are not safe here. We have to find another place right away. Kerim has been silently listening and I think the look on his face reflects his emotional pain as well as physical. Meryem asks him, aren’t you going to say anything? He says we will see what to do.

Kerim looks out his window and sees Fatma take Murat outside. Then he sees Muka in the kitchen and pulls the curtain shut. Lol.

Muka complains to Rahmi about what Fatma did. Now she and Kerim will face the consequences. Muka says she’s going to find a safer place for her and her child. Meryem comes in. Rahmi says he won’t abandon his sister. Muka snarks, with Kerim and her hero brother, Fatma thinks she’s invincible. Muka adds, Mustafa was a coward all this time. He never cared about her. Now she only has Kerim.

Kerim goes out to speak with Fatma. He tells her he heard she won’t file a report. She confirms and says he doesn’t have to worry. She adds, you don’t have to worry about Mustafa either. Kerim replies he wasn’t the one worried about Mustafa, she was. Fatma goes to get Murat and she stumbles. Kerim catches her. Don’t touch me!

Kerim tells her, I didn’t beg him [Mustafa] for my life. I begged him not to hurt you. Fatma replies with a snotty, how nice you are. And you accepted the Yasarans’ deal to protect me. I heard you talking to Meryem. I can’t believe you are using your mother as an excuse. You have no shame. [That was a low blow.]

Kerim turns to leave and then turns back. He says, I’m a good guy but you hate me more than the rest of the world put together. And you are right, but don’t use my mother against me. Don’t do it again. He leaves. [Something to think about, Fatma?]

Halide shares what she heard with Emin. He thinks this is just a coincidence. Halide is not convinced. Why did we hear that name on the wedding day? Why would she call the Yasarans’ bride? Do you think the rumors about them were true? Emin says not to think such things. She remembers that Emin said Mustafa didn’t look good before he left. She has a bad feeling. He hasn’t called. She can’t reach him.

Fatmagul #19 part 2

Mustafa thinks back to the ride home from the engagement party. He was ticked the worked the party and ticked she was giving out directions to the bathroom [talking to a random guy]. She tells him she will see him off when he leaves. She took his bandana to keep until his return. End flash.

What do you know, Mustafa has that bandana in his pocket and he takes it out. He thinks about Kerim’s words, Fatma is innocent, you turned your back on her. You didn’t protect her. Mustafa cries.

Vigil for Selim at the hospital. Erdo and Vural argue. Vural is pissed that Erdo went looking to Kerim’s house. You looked for trouble and you got it! They get word that Selim will be okay and they can take him home that evening.

Munir tells Resat and Erdo to go back to the office. Vural says he will stay at the hospital. Munir will go home and spin what happened to their advantage. And oh boy, what a spin. He tells Perihan, Meltem and Hilmiye that Selim tried to commit suicide! Hysterical outbursts.

Munir calms them and tells them the rest of the BS story. He found Selim in his office with the gun to his head. Munir struggled with him, but the gun went off and hit Selim in the stomach. Don’t worry though, he’s ok now and he will be back home tonight. Perihan is distraught.

Meltem blames herself. Munir loads on the guilt saying this was too much for Selim to bear and that he hopes Meltem will behave differently when Selim comes home.

Resat pays a visit to Mustafa. You’re in big trouble. Mustafa asks if Selim is dead. Do you think you would still be alive, if he was dead, Resat replies. How many people did you kill with this gun, he asks Mustafa. How many crimes? Mustafa says he didn’t do anything like that. Resat says this gun was used in terrorism cases. We had the gun investigated. Mustafa says the gun isn’t his. Resat says you shot my son before my eyes, this is your gun! Are you blackmailing me, Mustafa asks?

You have no way out, Resat tells him. Your life is in my hands. I have to power to keep you in jail for life. I didn’t kill anyone, Mustafa says. You almost killed my son, Resat shouts. Mustafa shouts back that Selim committed a bigger crime. Your son, Erdogan and the other deserve to die! Resat tells him to sit down and shut up. Mustafa cries.

Resat opens a briefcase with a lot of Turkish lira. Here’s the deal: take the money and have a good life or rot in prison. Take the money, forget the past.

Cop Mehmet talks with Emre about Kerim & family. He wonders about their Yasaran connection. Emre says they are all from the same town. Emre’s dad thought they were weird but Emre says they were ok until now. Emre tells Mehmet that Kerim and Fatma had an arranged marriage, then they came here. Fatma’s ex-fiancé followed them. And that girl (Asu) was a friend of the ex. It’s complicated. Then Mehmet finds the article implicating the rotten ricos in a rape.

Resat takes Mustafa up to his office and continues to pressure him and tempt him with the money. The abyss on one side, a wealthy life on the other. Mustafa thinks back to what his father told him. Can you forgive and forget? Do you want a woman who was used by other men? Could you have children with her? Resat says, the girl is married now. I’m offering you a new path. Mustafa downs a whiskey that Resat poured for him.

Everyone is in the kitchen for dinner. Meryem is looking for places to live. Kerim is in the shed. Fatma looks out the window and sees his silhouette on the curtain. Kerim is looking at his photo album. The wedding pic of his parents with his father’s face cut out.

dondi356

Fatmagul #19 part 3

Fatma says the food is ready to take to Kerim. Meryem says Kerim doesn’t want anything. Muka comments that Kerim has been upset, he hasn’t even spoken to Rahmi today. Rahmi mentions the photo album. Kerim studies that wedding pic, gets upset and throws it. He looks out the window.

Selim comes home from the hospital. Perihan cries over him. How could you do this? Blah.. blah… blah. Meltem is upset too.

Finally, Mustafa takes the money. He doesn’t want his parents to know any of this happened. Resat agrees. Resat calls Erdo. Mustafa has resigned, find another driver. He will explain this to his family as he wishes. Don’t interfere. We will find them a comfortable place for them to live. Mustafa drives off in Erdo’s car! Resat tells Erdo, you’re going to worry about a car, now?

Fatma sees Kerim go out to sit by the water. She tries to sneak out the back but Meryem hears and sees her go. After a small awkward silence, Fatma tells Kerim, I didn’t mean to say anything bad about your mother. My mother died, too. I know very well what it is like to live with that pain inside. I am very upset with you, she says, more than just upset. Kerim knows. But still, she says, I wouldn’t use your mother. I wanted you to know. He thanks her. She leaves.

Meltem asks Selim if he will talk to her. There’s nothing to say, he replies. Meltem says he is punishing her. She cries, you could have died. He says living without you is like dying, Meltem. [Notice Vural trying not to laugh.] Selim guilt trips Meltem. It causes an argument and Vural sees Meltem to the stairs. Vural congratulates Selim on his performance. They laugh. At least it hurts when Selim laughs.

The help from Resat’s house comes to see Halide. There’s a commotion over there, she says. The prince had a gastric bleed and everyone is in a panic. Halide wonders where Mustafa is.

Mustafa has taken refuge at Asu’s. He’s feeling sorry for himself again. He takes a call from his father and tells him he quit his job. What? Why? Mustafa says he won’t be home tonight, they can talk tomorrow.

Asu tries to comfort Mustafa. Asu tells him he made the right decision. Mustafa calls himself a coward. He’s worthless. I don’t have the courage to face anything in this life, he tells Asu. He [Kerim] stood in front of me and said, “It’s not Fatmagul’s fault.” He said, I did what you couldn’t do. You turned your back when she needed you it most. He sobs. The man I swore to kill, gave me a lesson in courage.

Asu says, you are the Mustafa I met that day. She takes his face in her hands and says, you’re the one whose heart I wanted to touch with my hand at first sight. The one whose gloomy eyes are the reason for my jealousy. The one who reminded me that my heart exists. Mustafa lunges at her with kisses. [ick]

Kerim comes into the kitchen and finds Fatma asleep on top of her textbooks. He smiles. He closes the door loudly. She doesn’t wake. He goes over and hovers his hand over her head not quite touching her. She wakes up. He quickly backs off and pours himself a glass of water. She gathers her stuff up and goes.

Next morning, Fatma is in the bathroom, fixing her hair. Kerim comes into the doorway. He will wait until she is finished. She says you can come in and she brushes past him in the narrow doorway. She was so close and he must have caught her scent because the look on his face was joyful. Meryem notices.

The police show up at the house. They want Kerim to come down to answer some questions. Meryem goes with them.

Fatma walks back towards the house and sees a blue and white bandana tied to a post. Mustafa? She unties it and searches around the property. She sees Mustafa standing across the water.

dondi356

Fatmagul #19 part 4

We go 9 hours earlier. Mustafa is making out with Asu, when he suddenly stops it. OMG, he wipes his mouth and takes a drink! He says he can’t do it. She says, you mean do it with me? She’s pissed. Who do you think you are? You run to me every time you’re in trouble. She gives him Fatma’s address and throws him out. Go waste your time there! I never want to see you again! He leaves, she cries.

More Yasaran crap. Damage control. They have to keep Meltem from finding out the truth. Erdo goes home and finds the Nalcalis packed and ready to go.

Meltem calls her mother. Ender thinks she’s on her honeymoon. Meltem says we didn’t go. Resat enters the room and gives her a dirty look. Uh oh. She tells her mom that Selim had a gastric bleed. Her parents are shocked and worried. They want to come. Meltem says don’t. But Ender says she will be there tomorrow. Meltem hangs up and cries.

Resat sits next to Meltem. He tells her he almost lost his son because of those others. He doesn’t care what or who Meltem believes. He tells her this is not the time to act like a spoiled girl. He reminds her of her responsibilities to his family and to hers. Don’t give us problems.

Fatma is in bed looking at the attorney letter. She remembers when Kerim said her wouldn’t divorce her. Is that a smile we see? She puts the letter back under her sheets.
Mustafa shows up at Fatma’s house and looks around outside. He sees the wood from the dowry chest. He remembers and gets upset. He peeks in the window and sees Fatma sleeping. A light goes on in the house and he ducks away. Rahmi took Murat to the bathroom.

Mustafa takes out the bandana and ties it to a post.

Mustafa spent the night in the car. He is awakened by a call from his mother. She’s worried. He tells her he will be there in a little while. Mustafa sees the police car pull up to Fatma’s house and Kerim being taken away. He sees Fatma come outside. Fatma takes the bandana and looks around. She spots Mustafa.

Fatma watches as Mustafa makes his way over.

And we are out.

Hercai2: #9 - p 1 of 3
The episode begins with Azize asking Zehra what she wanted to talk to her about. "Aren't you afraid of the grand Azize Aslanbey?" she asks. An unusually confident Zehra informs Azize, "I'm not like your daughter-in-law or your granddaughter. I've had enough of your threats."

The scene shifts briefly to Gul, who has learned that Elif's wedding has not yet taken place. She thanks Elif for not having the wedding while she (Gul) was asleep. She announces that she and Elif will have matching wedding dresses. Elif is clearly uncomfortable with this conversation. Azat enters and tells Gul that Elif has a headache and needs to rest. Gul apparently decides that the best way of dealing with a headache is for Elif to play with her.

Back at the park, Zehra tells Azize, "Everyone knows that Miran is really the son of Hazar." Azize replies, "Who told you this stupidity?" Remembering what Azize told an unconscious Hazar in the hospital, Zehra says, "You want a son to kill his father. I don't know why, but I don't care. What would you do if Miran learned about this? Your world would be turned upside down. There would be no Azize, and no venganza. I see the fear in your eyes. Fear and desperation." Azize replies that Miran wouldn't believe a liar like Zehra. Zehra triumphantly informs her, "He wouldn't have to believe me, he'd believe the letter in which his mother told the truth." Zehra continues, "If you hurt Miran or Reyyan, you'll pay very dearly. And someone is guarding the letter for me--you'll never find it." Zehra leaves, as does Azize, accompanied by Mahmoud. Back at her room, Azize wonders aloud, "How did she learn my secrets?"

Cihan, Handan, Nasuh, Hazar, Yaren, and Harun are discussing business and plans for the wedding. Cihan feels that Azat and Harun can help them with their business. Harun presents a very skillful mix of competence and subservience. He also says that he'd like to work with Yaren on preparations for the wedding.

We then see Handan, Yaren, and Harun at the photographer's studio where Yaren and Harun will have pre-wedding photos taken. Yaren refuses to smile. Handan tries to force her face into a smile. The photographer says she can't take photos under these strained circumstances. Yaren remains uncooperative and finally storms out. Handan suggests the photographer take photos of Harun, who is happy to oblige.

Meanwhile, Yaren is in the main part of the photographer's store. She paces back and forth, asking how she can rid herself of Harun. Firat passes by outside and catches sight of Yaren in the window. He sees her pacing, and then sees Harun enter. She tells Harun the wedding will not take place. He of course insists that it will. He tells her that he put the ring on her finger, and only he can take it off. He then grabs her and kisses her. Firat hastily walks away.

Reyyan is packing her suitcase to go to Sukran's home. Miran stares at her. She asks him what's the matter. He comes over and makes her smile. "That's better," he says. There's a flashback to an earlier time in Urfa. He reminds her that they made a wish by the tree. He informs her that all his wishes were for her. Back in the present, he kisses her and asks what she wished for. She replies that she won't say until they come true.

Reyyan's phone rings. Zehra has called to ask whether Reyyan can come by the house. "I want to talk to you. It's somewhat urgent. It's about my mother." Reyyan agrees and asks Miran to take her to her mother's.

Hercai2: #9 - p 2 of 3

The scene shifts abruptly to the police station. The police are questioning someone apparently involved in setting the country house fire. The man seems to have confessed. The police officer in charge says, "You say the woman paid you and then you gathered your men and set fire to the country house. Is that right?" The man agrees. "Yes, I was paid in cash. The woman was there in person." He signs a copy of his confession. The police officer says "the judge will have the final say, but we'll arrest the woman mentioned here." [The man who confessed looked vaguely familiar, but whether I saw him in this dizi or a different one, or none at all, I'm not sure.]

Back in Azize's room, Azize is asking herself how Zehra got the letter. How did she find it? Azize takes out the three notes and stares at them. "Who are you" she asks the note writer. "You're very near. Think, Azize! Could it be Hanife? She said the celebration would take place at the country house. She probably knew that Elif and Azat would be there. No, she's not smart enough. What if the person who sent the notes knows that Hanife is my sister? Hanife, did you betray me? No, you know that would have severe consequences."

Back at the Sadoglu konak, Zehra is saying goodbye to everyone before leaving to see her mother. She says to Elif, "May God bless you with much happiness." She asks Melike to watch over Gul. She then hugs Hanife and asks for her blessing. Hanife assures her she has it. I found this a bit odd. Would one of the most important women in the family ask a servant for her blessing? Zehra then hugs Reyyan and whispers to her, "Don't be afraid of Azize. She can't hurt you. She can no longer hurt you or our family." Zehra eventually runs out of people to say goodbye to, and she leaves. People disperse. Reyyan says goodbye to Azat and Elif. They leave, and after they're gone, Reyyan says, "I hope you start falling in love with Elif, cousin Azat." [I hope so, too.] She goes to meet Miran, who has been waiting for her outside the konak. She tells him she feels very sad. "No one should leave their mother's side." Oops. She immediately realizes that this was not something she should say in front of Miran. She apologizes. Miran simply says "You'll know where she is and how she's doing. We'll find a way for you to feel like you're closer."

Suddenly several police cars enter the Sadoglu compound. One of the police officers calls out "Hanife Derben." When she appears, he informs her that she's under arrest for starting the fire at the country house. Hanife is taken aback and terrified. "I was here. I did nothing," she insists. Nasuh says that she has worked for them for many years and is like a member of the family. He's told that if he wants more information, he should go to the police station.

We now see Sultana at the Aslanbey konak. She's looking quite pleased with herself. She thinks, "Ah, if you only knew what I did behind your back. You wouldn't have sent me to Kars but to outer space." [Aha, the plot thickens!]

We see Mahmoud suddenly rush up the stairs. He bursts into Azize's room, and as she starts to protest, he informs her that Sra. Hanife has been arrested.

At the police station, Hanife protests, "I had nothing to do with this! Why would I set fire to the country house?" The police officer tells her that she will have to spend the night in a cell. Nasuh tries to explain again that Hanife has worked for the family for many years, but his words have no effect. He tells her that his lawyer is coming, but the police office says that Hanife has to be taken to the cell immediately. I'm wondering why he's acting so unreasonably. Has he been paid off?

Hercai2: #9 - p 3 of 3

Azize is sitting in a car near the police station. She's on the phone to her lawyer. "Get her out! No one can know about you or me. Be discreet and find a way to resolve this." Apparently the lawyer doesn't said what Azize wants to hear, and she then says "Then I'll find another lawyer" and ends the call. She then asks Mahmoud (who is her driver), "Was it your men, Mahmoud?" He tells her that he has spoken with them, and they weren't involved.

Nasuh not surprisingly says he wouldn't be surprised if Azize were behind this.

We see Hanife in her cell. "My sister will get me out of here," she tells herself. A guard comes over and says, "Don't tell anyone" and hands her a cell phone. Hanife is thrilled to hear Azize's voice. "I knew you'd find a way to save me. Please hurry. I can't breathe in here." Azize replies, "If I get you out now, people will know of our connection, and that's not good for us. I promise to get you out, but I need more time. Don't say anything to anyone." Hanife gets more desperate. "You have to help me. I'm going crazy. They said something about a trial and prison. Please get me out of here." Well, apparently sisterly affection goes only so far with Azize. "It's not so terrible," she tells Hanife. "Keep your mouth shut and I'll help you. Someone is playing with us, but I'll find him. I'll contact you again. Take care. Talk to you soon."

The guard comes over and demands that Hanife return the phone. She does so. The guard leaves. Hanife thinks to herself, "So you're leaving me here. Is that what a sister does? Is that how you pay me for what I've done for you for so many years? Is that how you pay me? As she says this, she bangs her head repeatedly against the bars.

Back in her room, Azize asks, "Who could have done this, Hanife? Who wants to hurt you?" Suddenly, Miran bursts into the room. "Was it you, abuela? Did you set fire to the country house?" "How dare you ask such stupidities?" Azize replies. "Do you think I'm crazy enough to burn the house when my grandchildren are inside?" Perhaps you didn't know we were inside," responded Miran. "Did you do it because Elif became a Sadoglu? Did you want to punish the Sadoglu?"

An angry Azize tells Miran to leave, but he says he won't until she tells him the truth. "Hanife was your spy, wasn't she? She couldn't have acted alone. I saw her arrested right before my eyes." Azize pretends surprise: "Did you say she was arrested?" Miran replies, "How could you not know what happened to your spy? Sooner or later, I'll learn the truth. It's better that you tell me while you still can. Because if I discover that you were responsible for this, too...." "Do you think I'm that stupid, that I'd behave so imprudently? If Hanife betrays the family, who feeds her, she betrays me, too. How could I trust that woman? Don't jump to hasty, stupid conclusions." Miran seizes on these last statements. "Maybe she betrayed you, too. Maybe she knew Elif and I were at the house but didn't tell you. Isn't it possible for her to be working with someone else?" "How the devil would I know?" asks Azize. "But if I learn she tried to kill you, I'll make her pay." Miran brings the confrontation to an end. "Very well," he says. "If you say so, so it shall be." After he leaves, Azize tells herself, "You need to resolve this before it gets out of hand."

An unhappy Hanife is told her lawyer is here. She brightens up. "I knew my sister would help." We see an ominous-looking pair of feet approach her cell. It's Harun, with his typical smirk. "Mr. Harun," says a surprised Hanife, "What are you doing here?"

Fatmagul

Dondi another excellent recap! Thank you thank you!

I was eagerly looking forward to your recap for all the normal reasons and also because I knew they must have translated that conversation by the river between Fatma and Kerim incorrectly because he looked so offended and what she said in Spanish wasn't that bad (unless I misunderstood). I don't remember now what I thought she said but it wasn't that he used his mother as an excuse and was shameless! Ouch indeed! And telling that she felt compassion for him after saying it...she is definitely starting to melt. She even mentioned his food was ready, so of course Mustafa needs to show up now and ruin things. Sigh

Speaking of details, they showed that bathroom scene between Fatma and Kerim twice yesterday (once in the beginning and then again after the flashback to nine hours before) and they translated it slightly differently the second time. Now, I am a total nerd but this fascinated me because I wondered if it was on purpose. Now it could have been an accident or bad translation or whatever, but I always find it interesting when a show films the same scene twice and changes the dialog slightly on the second showing...like it is saying the actual words that were spoken where not as important as the feeling expressed. Which in this case it just shows Fatma is more comfortable with Kerim in her space since she squeezed past him in that narrow doorway rather than wait for him to move. But anyway it did make me wonder if the dialog was different in Turkish too, like I said I am a nerd. I love words, and all sorts of communication and ways things are communicated.

Meltem is now being manipulated with Selim attempted suicide and it's your fault, a new low that could have been avoided if Mustafa had shot everyone yesterday! I do feel bad for the position she is in but I feel like she has known the truth since day 1. Her gut told her, she KNEW, and she has done everything to try and get herself to believe the lie.

When I watched yesterday I was very harshly judging Asu for telling Mustafa where Fatma lives, I thought, oh sure you are concerned about her safety until your feelings get hurt and then you throw her to the wolves in spite! But then thinking about it this morning I realized she knew the confrontation with Kerim had already happened and Mustafa hadn't killed him so maybe she figured there was no danger in telling him. Still a bad move, but not quite as heartless.

I didn't notice Viral trying not to laugh, too bad I bet that was funny.

One other thing I noticed that might end up being important, Mustafa also so Kerim leaving his shed in the morning. After seeing Fatma sleeping alone and seeing Kerim was obviously sleeping in the shed, pretty obvious conclusion to draw from that.

herc

Oh wow Juanita, your recaps are always super and this one was extra super! The focus on so much dialogue detail was much needed for me last night, thank you.

Is Hanife’s arrest a ploy by the note master to get her to turn on Azize? Harun cannot be the note master, but maybe works for him/her? I like the plot twist and movement forward, plus Zehra is gone for a while. At least she let left with a bang, getting under Azize’s skin.

Just a quick comment today to let you know how much I appreciated the recap!

Fatmagul

I also meant to say I loved how Mustafa just stole Erdo's car!!! Lol and he proved what a lowlife he is by selling Fatma out once again this time for money!!!

Fatmagul

Thank you, dondi356.

That conversation by the river was important. And the translator messed it up. Thanks for clearing that up. Like Darcy mentioned, in Spanish they interpreted Fatmagul's barb as being about Meryem, and not about Kerim's dead mother. Which made the following conversation out of place. "Kerim catches her. Don’t touch me!" - short but accurate description. "I can’t believe you are using your mother as an excuse. You have no shame. [That was a low blow.]", "but don’t use my mother against me. Don’t do it again. He leaves. [Something to think about, Fatma?]" - I like the scene and the description.

"Rahmi mentions the photo album" and said Kerim looked very sad - you could see that Fatmagul felt bad. She knew mentioning Kerim's mother, not with proper respect, caused his sadness. And that prompted her to go and apologize, even though she didn't use the exact words of apology. She cares about his feelings!

"Fatma is in bed looking at the attorney letter. She remembers when Kerim said he wouldn’t divorce her. Is that a smile we see?" - ever so slight! The thought of him saying he wouldn't leave her pleased her. She sure is melting. Especially these couple of days after the attack.

"More Yasaran crap. Damage control." - there was a lot of that. I don't know, to me the story of the "attempted suicide" seems like something that should push Meltem away, not get her back. That is pure emotional blackmail. Does she want to spend her life with someone like this?

Mustafa is a mess. I wish he would take the money and go away.

Great recap Juanita! ITA agree with VVS regarding your attention to the dialogue details! Fantastic! Hahaha about Zehra FINALLY running out of people to say goodbye to! I was like, “ she’s not going off to war” for goodness sakes! Leave already—-sheesh! But I did like her exit with Azize! Give that monster something that spooks her to think about!

I was surprised, but not surprised when Harun showed up as Hanife’s lawyer. That snake has inside info and it wouldn’t surprise me if he’s either a long lost Sadoglu or Aslanbey. More likely someone that’s been wronged by Azize. He’s popping up quite frequently everywhere now, and totally can’t be trusted. He’s the mirror image of Yaren, and she him. They both take pleasure in their antics. Lord please don’t let them procreate!!!

I do wish Azat could see Elif differently. She’s a good soul and would be his ride or die if he’d let her. I guess he’s still not over Reyyan although Reyyan has only seen him as her primo….. he’s just not ready to give his heart to Elif or anyone….

Azize is becoming less and less believable and I’m loving it! At least she gets the side eye from those in her circle now, lol. Sultana, I can’t stand! Azize may have done some bad and horrible things to her, but she’s allowed it. She’s as dark as Azize and I don’t feel one bit sorry for her. Maybe one day she’ll get drunk and fall off the balcony….or trip down the endless steps or something….she irks me….

Thanks again Juanita! Excellent recap!!

Fatmagul

Dear Dondi, wowee wow wow. These writers know how to slowly and deliberately spin out a tale ,and you , Dondi, know how to write a recap . Sometimes , the dedicated recappers here at Caray have to spin straw into gold, but for this show , you are faithfully recapping and commenting on the gold.

Biggest Crybaby in this whole sordid mess is weak , dim , weasly Mustafa who twists and turns and weeps any way the wind blows . The shortest sentence in the Bible is " Mary wept," and in this recap it's " Mustafa cries." Maybe we have anotger drinking game here. Boo and hoo...poor ME! He could have been the hero if he truly loved Fatmagul and had trusted , protected , and comforted her as the innocent victim she was . The culture and his parents and "friends" pushed him to desert her to save his " honor.". This guy has no honor to save . Weakwilled worm. If you want a tutorial on being a hero, look at the way Kerim keeps trying to protect and support Fatmagul while feeling guilty and ashamed and being rebuffed in his every attempt to help and care for her . Unconditional love is possible , and it is wonderful.

So now, he has accepted the money Resat offered and stolen Erd's car (hahaha) and run to Asu's to feel sorry for HIMSELF and lick his wounds..again. It was interesting that he told Asu that Kerim is the one who is standing by Fatmagul now and protecting her. Glad Kerim made that clear to him .

Fatmagul

Thanks everyone, great comments. Keep ‘em coming!

Darcy, both bathroom scenes had the same dialog in Turkish and I didn’t notice a big difference with the Spanish. They were almost like a real couple for a brief moment. Ah, the look on Kerim’s face!

I can see how the river convo would be confusing to some who haven’t listened in Turkish. I’ve been saying from the beginning that Kerim does not call Meryem “mother”, he calls her “(older) sister”!

We have to remember that Kerim is very sensitive about anything to do with his mother. Remember the Yasarans used her against him when they forced him to take the blame. Fatma felt bad. You are right on track, Lucio.

The convo by the river, Turkish to English (My Turkish isn’t very good but from what I could tell, it was a decent translation): Kerim: I heard you won’t file a complaint. Fatma: I won’t, so put your heart at ease. You don’t have to fear Mustafa anymore, too. K: it wasn’t me who was worried about Mustafa, it was you. [She stumbled and he caught her.] F: Don’t touch me!

K: I didn’t beg him to spare my life. I begged him not to hurt you. F: You’re so nice. Thank you very much. And you accepted the Yasarans’ deal to protect me. I heard when you were talking to Meryem Abla. I can’t believe you are using your mother as an excuse. Have you no shame?

K: Yes, I’m a lowly man. You hate me as much as the sum of the rest of the world. And you have a good reason. But please don’t stab me with my mother. Don’t do this again.

And Fatma’s apology was translated slightly different Turkish- English, too. “I didn’t mean to say anything wrong about your mother. My mother died, too. I didn’t mean to hurt you with a person who is deceased. I’m very angry at you… more than just angry… you know that. But still, I wouldn’t hurt you using your mother or father. I just wanted to say this.”

Oh, what a tangled web of Yasaran lies. The latest: a lie about Selim’s suicide attempt, a lie about Selim’s gastric bleed [lol, caused by Mustafa’s gun]. Poor, stupid Meltem is caught in that web. Will she get out?

Mustafa described himself perfectly to Asu. A coward, worthless, and lacking the courage to face life. You describe him very well, Susanlynn. ¡Que poco hombre! (I don’t know an exact Turkish equivalent). Good point, Darcy, Mustafa saw the sleeping arrangements. Now he wants to come back into Fatma’s life. Watch out.

Susanlynn, it is a pleasure to recap a show as good as this one. And it generates great comments, too. I just wish it was one hour so I would have the time to give the patio more details.

dondi356

Fatmagul

I think that Fatmagul is taking all her anger out on Kerim because he is there and easy to confront while the rotten ricos are not available to pour out her fury on . However, it was a low blow bringing up Kerim's mother. That was crossing the line , and Kerim's face reflected how much her comment wounded him. Fatmagul is gradually starting to see the kind of person Kerim truly is ..not perfect but basically a good man who has his own painful story . This show is unfolding as each character moves onward ...some more successfully than others . As some of the characters are attempting to rise from the after effects , otgers seem to continue to spiral downward as they make one bad decision after another . This tale of the effects of a terrible event is as devastating as real life tragedies and how we cope with pain and loss.

Fatmagul

Dondi, it was a small difference in the bathroom scene but it stood out to me. The scene at the end of the episode Kerim says something about doing laundry and in the earlier showing of the same scene he just said 'I am not in a hurry take your time'. It's not important at all I am sure I just noticed it so I commented on it.

I rewatched the scene since by the river because I wanted to remember what exactly it said in Spanish. I couldn't remember I just remembered thinking it had to be different in Turkish. The Spanish translation just said 'I heard you talking to Eve Nine, you have no shame' it didn't include her comment about using his mother as an excuse which is of course what made the comment a low blow. Until later when she says she shouldn't have used his mom against him you don't even realize she said anything about his mother, that is until I read Dondi's fabolous recap!

Herc

Thanks, Juanita. This recap was magnificent!

I wondered if Zehra “left” because she was pregnant IRL. Her face has been looking a lot fuller lately. I read somewhere she married a few years ago. So it would make sense. If it is true, who knows when or if she will come back. At least Zehra left on a high note. I love watching Azize panic. But why is she taking it out on the faithful Mahmut?

I checked the Turkish ep and Zehra’s goodbye was very short. It started with her hugging her daughters and then saying goodbye to Nasuh. They didn’t show her with anyone else. I think Nigar went with her, too. As for what she said to Hanife, it could have been “hakkını helal et”, (forgiveness) to put any troubles they had with each other to rest.

From the other night, I didn’t take it that Harun was hitting on Reyyan. I just thought it was another way to ingratiate himself into the Sadoglu clan. VVS, I like your crockpot theory about Harun being in cahoots with the note master. Let’s add that to the mix. I thought that as soon as he showed up for Hanife. We never really found out how he got hooked up as Yaren’s groom. Maybe he won’t turn out to be such a bad guy.

What would an episode be like without Miran yelling about something?

dondi356

Hercai

I have had more than enough of Miran's loud hissyfits , but he can be very ronantic. When Rey was packing , she put some of her hair into a messy bun , and he took it out as he talked to her with the look of love in his eyes just as he did in the flashback. Miran is totally smitten with Rey ...and being very patient about no bunyyhopping just demure looks of love from Rey. Que?

I noticed that when I made writing assignments, some foreign students wrote in a much more poetic style than American students.

Hercai

Am I correct in thinking that Azz somehow set Harun up with Yaren ?

Also, is Firat jealous of Harun or just worried about him abusing Yaren ?

Harun is a mystery man . Is he really a lawyer ? Who sent him to the jail to Hanide ?

herc

Thanks very much, VVS, carmella, dondi356, and Susanlynn, for your insightful and supportive comments.

VVS, I'm intrigued by your suggestion that perhaps Hanife's arrest is a ploy by the note master to get her to turn against Azize. Actually, from what we saw last night, Azize may accomplilsh that all by herself! ¡Ojalá!

carmella, I too don't trust Harun at all. I love your saying that he and Yaren are mirror images of each other, as well as "Lord please don’t let them procreate!!!"

dondi356, interesting idea that "Zehra" may be pregnant IRL and that that may be why there's a sequence where she disappears to go see her mother. Also, how weird that the Turkish version had a shorter sequence when Zehra said her goodbyes. How is that even possible? If the longer version isn't in the Turkish, how could it be in the dubbed Spanish version?

Susanlynn, I don't think we know yet whether Azize somehow set up Harun with Yaren. As you say, he's a mystery man. We know very little about him, and that's pretty much true of the Sadoglu as well. Is he a lawyer? Who knows? It's possible he has claimed that as one of his many talents, and that the Sadoglu then sent him to help Hanife. OTOH, Nasuh already has a lawyer whom he is trying to use to help Hanife, so it may not be Nasuh who sent Harun. Whoever sent him, I don't trust him.

Herc

IIRC at first, we were led to think that Azize was the one who set up Harun with Yaren. But then Azize seemed surprised and said she had nothing to do with it. Does anyone remember differently?

Firat liked Yaren at the beginning then soured on her after some of the crap she pulled. Could he be jealous and worried? Yaren and Firat would be a very bad match, IMHO.
About the “no bunny hopping” (Susanlynn, lol) and Miran always on edge of a meltdown, I think Halimacandy said it well “However. If they had sex...FINALLY... that’s a release valve!!”

Juanita, in checking the Turkish version I have noticed there have been things in the “international” version that weren’t in the Turkish. I suppose they film more than what makes it to the screen. Weird editing choices I guess. I have also noticed scenes out of sequence between the versions.

BTW, Akın Akınözü’s new dizi “Kaderimin Oyunu”, is starting this Friday in Turkey. I’m going to check it out.

Just a fabulous recap, Juanita! You got all the intricacies of the many conversations. Thanks so much!

Just can't like Zehra. The scene with Azize in the park should have been great fun, but Zehra, or the actor portraying her, just pouts her lips and sticks out her chin when she plays her trump card. She's lucky Azize didn't have Mahmoud grab her up right then and there and torture the location of the letter out of her.

Interesting comment that she might be really pregnant and needing to be out of the scenes for a while as her tummy gets too big to fit the timeline of the dizi.

I'm pretty sure Azize didn't find Harun and his weird family. I remember Yaren crowing over the phone to Azize when she thought the marriage set-up was fake and had been arranged to pay her back for something she did for Azize (can't remember what she did...only the two of them discussing it in a car somewhere). Of course, HAG may have just lied about it to screw with a Sadoglu head. Who knows? I'm leaning toward Harun having a motive completely apart from Azize.

I am more than confused about something. In the flashback scene with young Nasuh and the shy young woman I recall her being called Ayse. I also thought that was the name of Nasuh's deceased wife and the mother of Cihan and Hazar. Others here think that was Azize's name in the past and the shy young girl was a young Azize. Then Nasuh told Yusuf that Ayse's ashes were at the Country House, thinking she'd been burned up. If Azize was Ayse, why doesn't Nasuh recognize her and realize that her ashes are not at the CH?

I am definitely intrigued by Harun showing up to represent Hanife. But I suppose he has already assumed some job responsibilities with the Sadoglu, something mentioned last night and this is his first job responsibility. But somehow the scene made it look a bit sinister.

Herc

novelera, I have the same questions about Ayse/Azize. If Ayse/Azize is Nasuh's lost love, and mother of Hazar and/or Cihan, why doesn't he recognize her?

Thanks for reminding me that it was Yaren who thought Azize found Harun as part of a deal. And at that time, I believed that Azize was telling the truth when she said it wasn't her.

dondi356

Fatmagul

I'm going to watch and try to get a recap up late tonight.

I just remembered what Yaren did for Azize. She stole the divorce paper that Zehra had arranged (to save Reyyan from the Aslanbey). Yaren forged Reyyan's signature on it. Don't remember how that all came to light.

OT - Destan

I watched the episode (partial I believe) for which deb posted a link. Looks very interesting and sent me down a rabbit hole about early Turkish history. I didn't understand all of the history, but it appears the dizi takes place before Islam in the area before it was even called Turkey. There appear to be two tribes of people, at war with each other. One is Gok but I can't remember the other. When I pasted the link into my browser IIRC it said that it wasn't all of it. Enjoyed seeing Ebru shooting an arrow. And it appears there's going to be a Romeo and Juliet plot because, in what I saw, the young Ebru sees the young galán and offers him something. Are there Turkish words for hero and heroine, like galán in Spanish and protagonists in English?

fatmagul

Still hanging on. Things are getting better, and Muka isn't getting her way so much.

I actually understood Mustafa's taking the money. Of course he's going to get drunk and blame himself because of that "honor" thing. But he's intelligent enough to realize that the Yasaran could totally arrange for him to be locked up for the rest of his life. And that other old- fashioned code made him wipe his mouth after having kissed a prostitute.

I didn't like him peeking through the window and realizing that Fatmagul doesn't sleep with Kerim. Haven't watched today and don't know how that scene between Fatmagul and Mustafa is going to play out.

Also, am I the only one who notices that sometimes Fatmagul appears to be sleeping with Murat and other times alone? Yesterday the kid wasn't in bed with her, at least that I could see.

I do NOT understand why the cops took Kerim. He was the victim of what happened the other night. I would have just told them to stuff it instead of getting into the back of the police car.

Erdogan has the weirdest mouth. It looks like his bottom teeth stick out farther than the top ones. In general, he looks villainous before he says a word. And in the very first scene, at the airport, he's yelling at Vural to get in the car (and stop spending time with the peon Kerim).

Fatmagul

Novelera, yes, Erdogan thinks he is the smartest person in the room. He has a chip on his shoulder about the way Resat treated his father . Even though , The cousins seem to have been raised together and their families seem close, he is jealous of Selim . He also seems obsessed with Kerim and Fatmagul's relationship. He is one of those people who seem to make things increasingly worse instead of better . If we go back in time, Erdogan is the one who instigated the events o that awful night by pushing pills and alcohol on the three guys and urging them to go to the beach. He was the first-person to rape Fatmagul and encouraged the others to do so. Was he the one who poured the alcohol in her? He's a spoiled, rich idiot with no moral compass who likes to stir the pot . Lord of the Flies comes to mind.

Fatmagul

Makes no sense that Meltem didn't break off the engagement with Selim. She certainly suspected the rumors were true. Instead , she accepted the Yaserans lies and coverups . I guess she didn't want a scandal for dear old politician daddy. I guess she really wanted the fantasy wedding .

herc

A quick note of thanks, novelera, for your extremely interesting and insightful comment. As I think you know, I'm no fan of Zehra's either. If we don't see her for weeks, that's fine with me. But I sure did enjoy her confrontation with Azize in the park.

Add me to the list of people still confused about the Azize/Ayse issue. I wonder whether that list also includes some of the dizi's writers.

I'm looking forward to tonight's episode, which I probably won't get to see until tomorrow. I've got other plans for this evening.

Gotta run. Thanks again.

Fatmagul # 20 part 1

Fatma and Mustafa are face to face.

There’s an edit to the start of the ep. In the Turkish, Muka sends Murat out to call Fatma to breakfast.

Mustafa tells Fatma, don’t be afraid, I’m not here to hurt you. Why did you come, she asks?

Murat sees Mustafa and calls out to his parents, Mustafa Enişte is here. [“enişte” is used for aunt’s husband or sister’s husband. This is what Murat calls Kerim, too. And this is how Munir addresses Resat.] Rahmi does a spit take with his tea and Muka almost chokes. They run out the front. Rahmi picks up a piece of wood and runs to attack. Fatma stops him.

Mustafa tells “Rahmi Abi” to calm down. Rahmi shouts, don’t call me Abi! Fatma calms her brother down and asks Mustafa again, why did you come? He says, I just learned the truth. So, what does that change, Fatma asks.

Muka calls Kerim who is on his way to the police station. Come save us, she shouts. What happened? Mustafa came! Hurry! Kerim asks the cop to turn around and go back. He says, my wife’s life is in danger. The cops turn around.

Mustafa tells Fatma his story. I was in the middle of the sea when I found out. I went crazy. I couldn’t think of anything due to my anger. Everyone thought of themselves, she says, especially you. He tells her, you don’t know how I felt. You? Voice raised she says, do you know what I’ve been through? You only cared about your pride. You turned your back and ran away! [Now we are at the beginning of our episode.]

Mustafa says, I was told something else… Fatma interrupts, if you had listened to me, I would have told you. [Turkish] I hoped to take refuge in you. I thought, ‘Mustafa will save me’. But you didn’t listen! You abandoned me right away!

Mustafa excuses himself by saying he thought that she was protecting “him”. I didn’t know. I trusted you, she says, you didn’t take my hand. You left me in the middle of the fire. Rahmi shouts that’s enough, don’t talk to him anymore. He shouts at Mustafa to go.

Fatma continues, you burned my house, our house. My hope. You burned me, Mustafa! You burned my life! Muka calmly asks Mustafa to leave [surprised she kept her mouth shut through all of this]. She tells Fatma to go inside, her husband is coming.

Mustafa asks Fatma, why did you keep quiet? Why did you marry that man? Fatma answers, when you left me in this fire, he took care of me [oooh!] [Turkish] Despite being a lowlife, he faced the consequences of his actions! He didn’t run away like a coward! He didn’t abandon me! But you did! We hear police sirens.

Fatma spits. [Turkish] She shouts, you don’t even mean this much to me! Get out of my sight before you sink even lower in my eyes!

Rahmi chases Mustafa as the police car shows up. Kerim jumps out and runs after Mustafa. Where are you going?! Come here! Fatma shouts, Kerim! He stops. She says, let him go. That was like music to Kerim’s ears.

Mustafa runs to “his” car and drives off. Muka tells the cop it’s nothing, just a misunderstanding. Now the cop wants to take Muka and Rahmi to the station as well. Kerim tells Meryem to stay with Fatma.

At the station, Muka explains to Mehmet that was the ex fiancé. He can’t accept she is married and he keeps bothering us. Mehmet asks Kerim, if he was the one who broke into your house and beat you and threatened your wife, why didn’t you report it? Muka answers, we thought about it. [Turkish] We were scared, we didn’t want to make him angrier.

Mehmet is confused. First a prostitute and now and ex fiancé is after your wife, he says to Kerim. What relationship do you have with the Yasarans? Kerim finally speaks, we have nothing with them. Mehmet says, but your abla accused them when she was concerned about you and your wife confirmed it. Kerim says it was a misunderstanding.

dondi356

Fatmagul #20 part 2

The cop’s not buying it. Muka tells him that the Yasarans and Meryem are from the same town. They bought her house and then she regretted it. There was a dispute about the price and now she is obsessed and accuses them of everything. [Kerim looks disgusted with Muka’s lies] Muka asks for Kerim to say something. He says there’s nothing more to be said. Mehmet brings up the scandalous article in the local newspaper. Did you read it? Muka says that happened after we left town. We don’t know the details.

Fatma tells Meryem, I had been thinking what I would do if I met him again. I wondered if I could forgive him for leaving me and being with another person. Would I beg him to spare my life if he wanted to kill me? I knew perfectly well I wouldn’t. But I was afraid I would forget everything if I saw him again. My anger managed to erase everything. I’ve got nothing left inside.

You said what you had to say, Meryem tells her, now you are more relaxed. I’m empty inside but I’m not at peace, Fatma replies. [Turkish] There is a huge emptiness. It’s as if I am fighting an enemy I can’t see. And it strangles me. Meryem tells her it will pass. Fatma says, it will pass. She doesn’t look convinced.

Mustafa drives and replays Fatma’s words in his head.

Meltem sees Vural. She asks if Selim is in pain. Vural says it’s not from the wound. Selim is going through a difficult time. Meltem says everyone is blaming her and they don’t care how she feels. She’s still confused about the truth. That girl called me, “don’t marry that man”. Resat and Perihan show up. Meltem says she wants to go for a walk. Resat signals for Vural to go with her.

Mehmet is still wondering why they won’t file a report. Muka and Rahmi say it was nothing. The cop asks Kerim, they beat you and threatened you. Why don’t you file a report? Are you scared? I’m not scared, Kerim answers. I just want to live with my family in peace.

As Meltem and Vural walk, Mustafa almost runs them over and comes to a screeching halt next to them. He gives Vural the death stare and Vural is frozen. Meltem is like, what the hell? Mustafa doesn’t answer, he just glares at them. Vural snaps out of it and hurries off with Meltem. Meltem is frightened. He looked as if he could kill you, Vural.

Mustafa parks at Erdo’s and goes in. Erdo looks worried. Mustafa goes to his parents. They are ready to leave. They ask him if everything is alright. Yes, it is. He will take a shower and then they can leave. [Is he going to take a shower with the briefcase, too?]

Halide asks why Mustafa quit. He says he found another opportunity. You have another job, Halide asks. More or less. She asks about the briefcase. He stops her from picking it up. What’s in it. Don’t ask, he says. She tells him about Selim’s gastric bleed [LOL] and that Meltem fainted after the wedding. She received a call from someone named Fatmagul. She felt bad after that. Halide says it must have been a coincidence.

Mustafa looks upset and Halide asks if he knows anything about this. Was it Fatmagul? Mustafa explodes, enough! Enough! He throws things. He breaks things. Erdo listens in. Emin tries to calm his son. Don’t mention Fatmagul anymore! Fatmagul is dead to me! Halide asks about work again. Mustafa shouts that he won the lottery! Okay?!

Selim and Resat talk. Selim blames Erdo for this. He asks Resat, Mustafa got money but what if he doesn’t leave? Resat says he will go. He realizes who I am. Resat thinks the “girl” is the problem. She was brave enough to speak to Meltem. We have to be careful with her. And Kerim, Selim adds.

Fatma handles the bandana and shoves it in her pocket when Murat comes in. Everyone returns from the station. They fill Meryem in on what happened. Fatma listens. It is agreed that they need to find another place to live asap. Fatma objects to living her life in fear and always on the run. She is defiant. I’m not afraid! If they return, I’ll shut them up! Fatma wants a normal life. She wants to work.

Meryem says she’s going out for a walk. Muka and Rahmi leave the room. Kerim asks Fatma if she is ok. She nods yes.

Ender arrives at Resat’s house as the Nalcali’s leave Erdo’s.

Muka’s truck doesn’t start. Kerim says he will look at it. Muka, Rahmi and Murat go to look for places to live.

Meryem is doing research on the Yasarans. She takes down the company contact information.
Meltem is surprised and upset to hear that the Yasarans told her mother about Fatma’s call. Ender says, you even thought about divorce. How could you hide this? Resat tells Meltem, we are family, we don’t hide things from each other.

Fatma opens her books to study but looks at Kerim fixing the car outside. He comes back into the house and asks for a favor. He needs something on which to place the parts and he doesn’t want to touch anything with his dirty hands. She gets up and goes to the kitchen. He tells her an old newspaper would be good. She brings the paper out to him. Did you notice all of Kerim’s little smiles?

Fatma doesn’t leave Kerim. He starts to explain what he’s going to do. Fatma asks, what did your father do for a living? This takes Kerim by surprise. She asked because he can fix a lot of things. I wanted to know if your father taught you, she says. Fatma turns to go. Kerim says he was a carpenter. The best one in town, Galip said. Fatma asks if Galip was the one who died when they came here. Kerim nods.

Kerim says Galip and his father were partners in the workshop. One was a blacksmith and the other a carpenter. They knew electricity and mechanics, too. I watched them. I don’t remember much. When I was bored they would give me pieces to breakdown and put back together. I was very little.

Fatma asks him, how old were you when your mother died. I was six. And you, Kerim asks. Fatma says she was twelve. We lost them both at the same time, they died together. An accident. Fatma says they were returning from a wedding in separate cars and left later. They passed the scene and saw the police and ambulances. Her mother, her father. Kerim is sorry.

Fatma sees Meryem returning and runs back into the house. Kerim asks Meryem where she went. She doesn’t tell him. He tells her about his convo with Fatma. She asked about my mother and father and she told me about her parents. For the first time, she shared something with me. Meryem says she’s happy for him, but she looks very distracted and goes into the house.

Fatma runs into the kitchen. She tells Meryem she will make tea. Meryem says she will go to her room and rest. Fatma knocks on her door and asks if she can come in. Fatma tells Meryem not to worry. Everything will be okay. [Turkish] Nothing we were afraid of has happened. Everyone knows about it but we are still alive. Everyone is moving on. Meryem looks sad. Fatma tells her, we will move on as well. Don’t care about the others. I’m not used to seeing you this way, Fatma says.

Meryem smiles. Fatma continues her pep talk. Everything is going to get better. It won’t be forgotten but it will get better. This is how we should think and live our lives. Meryem says what a beautiful heart you have. You are so strong and so brave. Fatma says I have no choice in order to survive.

Fatmagul #20 part 4

Mustafa checks into a fancy hotel. His parents are concerned about where he got the money. Halide demands to know what’s going on. Why did you quit? Why did we leave that house so quickly? Why are you driving that car? Mustafa says that the Yasarans offered him another job. He doesn’t have details yet but it’s an important position. Halide doesn’t believe him. Emin doesn’t want any new troubles. Mustafa insists it is just a promotion. He accuses his parents of not trusting him. [Well…] He’s offended and leaves in a huff.

Halide is upset. Her son has changed. He’s never shouted at her like that. He’s never disobeyed.

Kerim runs into Fatma in the hallway. He tells her the car needs a lot of work, maybe it’s better to buy another one. She’s not in the mood for another conversation. He’s puzzled. Did he really think it would be that easy?

Perihan is in the kitchen making muhallebi (a type of pudding). Yadigar mentions that it was nice working with Halide. Too bad she left. Perihan had no idea. What happened. Yadigar doesn’t know, but her son isn’t Erdo’s driver anymore. Perihan shaken and asks Yadigar to take over making the pudding.

Munir is filled in on the latest. They told Ender about Fatma and the suicide attempt and especially that it was Meltem’s fault.

Ender scolds Meltem for believing Fatma and causing problems for everyone. I couldn’t listen to this. You can discuss.

Mustafa goes high class shopping. He asks the salesperson for clothes for his novia, too.
Mustafa shows up at Asu’s with an armload of bags. She’s not happy to see him and is ready to shut the door in his face. He wants to talk to her and eventually she lets him in. Sami is there and neither guy is happy to see the other. Mustafa tells Sami that Asu isn’t going out tonight. Are you going to pay, Sami asks? Mustafa grabs him by the collar. Mustafa throws money at him and tells him to get out.

Asu says you paid, I’m at your service. Don’t talk like that, Mustafa says, I’m her to apologize. He tells her she is special for him. He says the bags are for her. She warns him that money is addictive. He says, from now on, he will have no money problems and neither will she. I’m going to give you a good life. They kiss…

Breakfast time and Meryem is not in her room when Fatma knocks. We see her on the ferry. She runs into Emre. He’s running an errand for his father. She tells him she is taking a free day for herself. Emre says he heard they are looking for another place to live. He hopes that they aren’t upset with his family. He hopes it had nothing to do with him talking to Mehmet. Meryem assures him that’s not the case. Emre tells her Mehmet is investigating the stuff about the Yasarans. Uh, oh.

Kerim comes into the kitchen. Muka tells him to sit for tea. No, he’s going send the truck to the shop. He sees Fatma and gives her a cheery good morning. She answers with an uhuh. Kerim pours himself a glass of water. Muka shouts at Murat what do you have there? It’s Mustafa’s bandana. Murat says Fatma found it tied to a tree outside. She kept it in her pocket. Muka says this is Mustafa’s he kept it around his neck. Kerim gets upset and leaves.

Muka drops the bandana on the kitchen floor where Fatma will see it and she does. She looks embarrassed as she picks it up. There’s silence at the table. Muka smirks.

Later, Kerim notices that Fatma is holding the bandana as she feeds the birds in the yard. He approaches her. He says the birds are beautiful. He loves feeding them. Kerim says he hopes the new place has a garden, with birds so she can feed them. She tells him not to make plans for the future and don’t include her in them. She reminds him that they will never be together.

Kerim says, you do this with bad intentions. You want me to feel bad and you want to hurt me. She reponds, because treating you well is like betraying myself.

Fatmagul #20 part 5

Mustafa is camped out in Resat’s office! The assistant can’t get him to leave. She wants to call security. Resat, Munir and Erdo show up. She informs them that Mustafa is inside and won’t leave. Resat says not to worry. The men enter.

What is the meaning of this, Resat asks? What are you doing here? Ha, Mustafa has his feet up on a table. He says, we have things to talk about. Mustafa wants more money. He wants the Yasaran lifestyle. He raises his voice. I want the same rights as you!

Meryem shows up at Yasaran Holding and asks to speak with Resat. She doesn’t have an appointment, but he will speak to her she says. Tell him I am here.

Mustafa is still carrying on about lifestyles of the rich and famous. Resat gets the call that “Ebe Nine” is here to see him.

Fatma is sitting on the dock, dipping the bandana in the water. Kerim is in the shed looking at his mother’s wedding pic. [Turkish] He thinks, it hurts to feel this helpless, mother. I don’t want to be so distant from her. I don’t want to always be wrong. I don’t want to be a person she hates. I wish I had hope. He looks at Fatma from his window. He puts the pic back and goes outside. A little hope, Kerim says.

He walks towards her. Her back is turned so she doesn’t see him. He sees she is holding the bandana above the water. Kerim stops and watches from a distance. He says softly, I know you will never forgive me. You will never forget the past. You will never love me. Despite everything, I want a little hope. Suddenly, Fatma lets go of the bandana and it floats on the water. [There’s your hope Kerim!]

Fatma gets up and heads back. She sees Kerim. Wow, Kerim’s smile.

What happened, Fatma asks. Nothing, Kerim replies. What are you smiling at? He replies, I remembered something. [Turkish] Fatma says, if you’re crazy, ask God for help. She walks away and Kerim’s got a big smile now. He says, I am crazy. Crazy…

Kerim goes back to the shed. He takes his mother’s pic and gives it a kiss.

Meryem waits to see Resat. Someone from security comes and asks the assistant if Mustafa is inside. Meryem hears.

Resat comes out to see Meryem. He takes her to another room to talk.

Mustafa says he’s not leaving until he gets an answer. Munir says it’s in the safe. It’s the gun. Resat is keeping it.

Meryem blows up at Resat, I know what your son, your nephew and the other “perro” did to Fatmagul on the engagement night! And you involved Kerim to save your skins. Ok, Resat says, calm down. Sit. I have problems with this, too. Meryem gets a call from Fatma. Where are you? We are worried. Meryem steps outside. She says she went out for some air. Fatma says she would have come along. Meryem says she will be back soon.

Erdo is in a panic. He calls Selim and says they have Mustafa in one room and Meyem in another.

Meltem pays a visit to Leman and Semsi. Semsi asks how Selim is doing. Meltem says he’s getting better but other things are getting worse. You know he didn’t have a gastric bleed. He was going to kill himself because of that girl. What girl? Fatmagul. Vural told me you know.

Leman says that girl is crazy. It’s not worth it to talk about her. I’m surprised you are making a big deal out of it. Semsi and Meltem head to the kitchen for coffee. Semsi says that girl tried to get money from you. Is that what you think, Meltem asks.

Kerim thinks about Fatma dropping the bandana in the water. He stops in front of a jeweler and sees wedding rings in the window. He sees a couple trying on rings inside.

Fatmagul #20 part 6

Fatma says Muka is causing problems. Get out of there. And why is he keeping that? Muka answers he is in love with his wife. I am not his wife, Fatma says emphatically. [Turkish] Muka says, let him do as he wishes. So what, he loves you from a distance. He doesn’t push it. Does he force you to love him back? Just let him love you.

Meryem is ripping into Resat. You covered up a crime! You intimidated people, too. Resat says we didn’t force anyone. Your SIL, was the one who said to give money to keep her mouth shut. So I gave her what she wanted. Should I have said, “send them to jail?”

Meryem shouts, you should have! Resat says of course, because you know Kerim didn’t do anything. Meryem jumps on that, see you admit Kerim did nothing! Wait, Resat says, he was there. If he was there, he is guilty too. He was the first one to catch the girl.

Meryem says if it were her, she would have reported it. You should thank Fatmagul. She will remain silent so she will not have to relive what she went through. Meryem says, you will stop bothering us. She sees Erdo and shouts tell that coward! Don’t come near us again! Meryem threatens to go to the police if they are bothered again. Resat promises that no one will bother them. He holds out his hand. Meryem won’t take it.

Mustafa is impatient. He goes to leave. Munir stops him.

Resat walks Meryem out. He has the gall to ask Meryem if she will sell her land if she needs money. I would be happy to help you out, he says. In your dreams, Meryem says, I’m not selling. Maybe someday, Resat says. Never, Meryem replies.

Just then Mustafa bursts out of the office and Meryem and Mustafa get a good look at each other. Meryem is disgusted. She says, may God punish you. She leaves.

Meltem tells Leman and Semsi the girl told her one story, Kerim told another, and our family another. I’m confused. I don’t know who to believe. Leman says we are all on Selim’s side. He’s going crazy over this. I came here because I can’t talk to anyone at home, Meltem says.

Meltem still wonders about Fatma’s call. How could she dare to call me? Semsi says she just wanted to cause problems. Leman says, if this was true, her ex wouldn’t be Erdogan’s driver. Erdogan trusts Mustafa and the family works for him. Meltem asks, Mustafa is Fatmagul’s ex? Yes, you didn’t know? Meltem didn’t know.

And we are out.

Part 1

We open with Hanife behind bars and Huran looking on. She’s confused because she was expecting her lawyer. Huran smiles smugly and motions for the attending guard to open the bar. He enters the cell telling Hanife that what happened doesn’t matter but what happens going forward depends on her. More confusion on her part. He sits confidently and tells her it looks like her sister has abandoned her but if she cooperates, he will help free her. Hanife feigns ignorance saying what sister. When she doesn’t fess up immediately, Huran calls for the guard to release him so Hanife finally asks what he wants in exchange. He dismisses the guard and sits with Hanife telling her that they need to talk later when she’s released…if she uses her head. He then tells her to listen carefully to what he has to say. We don’t hear his words but something shocked Hanife and brought her to tears…she backs away from him.

Back in the Sadoglu salon, the family is in deep discussion regarding the accusation against Hanife. Nasuf shuts down the speculation…saying they should await the investigation and at that moment to everyone’s surprise, Hanife walk in. Everyone wants to know exactly what happened but she doesn’t speak immediately…just eyes everyone suspiciously. We then get a flashback to part of her talk with Huran at the jail. “What more do you know” she asks ...so much time has passed”. He doesn’t answer but says they should process her release first. The charges against her will be dropped easily since the guy who witnessed against her has a history of schizophrenia and invented the story, and ID her simply because he had seen her before with the Sadoglus. She doesn’t want to believe him so he tells her she’s got to make a choice. She finally agrees to trust him. Back in the present, an attorney that came with her explained everything including the fact that to everyone’s surprise… Hanife didn’t press charges against the witness because he was some poor guy. Nasuf is still upset behind all the problems but they press the attorney on the facts, and he insists they are as presented. This doesn’t smell right to Hazar either so he tells the attorney to continue investigating.

Hazar calls ReyMir with the news but Miran isn’t convinced of the story either. They go to speak with Sukran but are interrupted by Azize shouting about an unannounced visitor. The roaches crawl out to see who the guy is. Turns out, it’s Felipe, the jeweler’s son. He’s come to fulfill his father Gabriel’s dying wish to confess the truth about the ring. Reyan is agitated, asking him why now, as if it would change anything. Looking at Azize he says it won’t change anything but you can’t scare the dead. He explains how his life was threatened to silence his dad and he was tormented by the lie. He gives Azize one last message from his dad “you can’t change anything with guns”. Finally, he reveals the truth about the ring. It was indeed Hazar who had the ring made for Miran’s mother, and not Mehmet.

Now it’s Miran’s turn to be agitated with Felipe, asking why they should believe him now; however, Reyan is relieved by the confession. Azize attacks Felipe for having the nerve to accuse her and she then attacks Miran for listening to him over her and not defending her. Reyan has had enough and tells her to shut up. The other roaches look on shocked and in silence as Reyan continues to chastise Azize for lying so easily, pretending not know Felipe or the ring. Reyan continues after Azize but Miran tries to calm her.

S2-Epi 10
Part 2

Azize tries to shame Miran for investigating the ring and being controlled by Reyan. When she calls Felipe a liar, he steps to her and tells her he didn’t lie but his father was forced to lie to ReyMir for the first time in his life because of her threats. Azize then tries to say Hazar has setup the lie about having commissioned ring and she doesn’t have time to continue on with the farce…and walks away. Miran yells after her to tell the truth but she spits out another quote about Miran’s mom, meant to make him feel guilty. Smartly, Reyan urges him not to fall for Azize’s manipulation this time. As Miran goes after Azize, Felipe grabs his arm in one last attempt to convince him, he tells him a dying man doesn’t lie.

Miran stalks up the stairs behind Azize, who is in her room looking at the random notes, trying to calm herself. She’s obviously shaken that another one of her lies has unraveled but she tells herself that holding on to anger will make you stronger. Miran barges in and before he can speak she starts in with her spill about him letting her down, she’s taken care of him all his life and how could he take someone else’s word over her and believe she’s behind the fire. She won’t forgive him.

Calmly he tells her they will get to the fire and Hanife, but for now…they discuss Felipe. He wants his dear grandma to explain what Felipe was talking about. She tries a Jedi mind trick by telling him to ask away but she wants to know if he believed what Felipe had to say. He responds that one thing is clear…no one wants him to know the truth. She asks him if he’s questioning his mother’s chastity but this sets him off and he shouts that she needs to be careful with what she says about his mother. Calmer he says he hasn’t said what he believes but he can’t ignore what’s happened.

She hands him the menacing notes and states she’s not saying they came from the Sadoglus but they are their only enemy. Miran scoffs asking what the notes are supposed make him do. She’s peeved that he still doubts her despite all the evidence. She opens her door for him to leave saying she’s never in her life lied to him. He ignores that lie and asks her why she didn’t tell him about the notes sooner. She closes the door and reminds him that he didn’t want to believe her the first time she showed him one of the notes and she vowed not to bother him with the notes again until she knew who was behind them. She continues to work on reeling him back under her spell.

Outside, Felipe attempts to leave but Reyan stops him, saying he can’t drop a bomb of info like that and just walk way. She wants him to talk more with Miran. He walks off saying he can’t make Miran believe him but Reyan runs after him to stay and tell Miran everything he knows. Meanwhile, Gonul questions her mother about what she knows but Sultana feigns ignorance. Esma doesn’t know Felipe but she did know his dad. It’s driving Gonul crazy as she realizes that Azize doesn’t only control and destroy the lives of her own family, she’s also harms others. Sultana doesn’t want to talk and walks away and sits. Sukran follows her wanting to know what this had to do with her daughter Dilsah and a ring. It’s upsetting Miran. Sultana appears to smirk at Esma but tells Sukran she can’t answer her because Azize has messed with her head for years and she can’t match the answers with the questions. This flip response annoys Gonul. Sultana continues to evade the question but Gonul insists she tells what she knows….but Sultana continues talking in circles. She does warn Sukran to be careful. Sukran presses again for answers but Sultana continues to evade … saying that everything is crazy at that mansion but Sukran will get used to it. She sends Esma to get coffee so she can sit back and watch the chaos.

Part 3

Miran continues reading the notes and concludes that they only threaten Azize. She begs to differ…saying they affect everyone including Sukran. This gets his attention and he wants to know what she means so she tells him to go talk to his favorite grandma since he doesn’t trust her. She has him to read the note Sukran gave her and asks him how he found Sukran. He tells Azize it was her who hid Sukran from him and it was the notes that helped him find her. She asks why their enemies would want him and Azize at odds. He tells her not to bring the Sadoglus into this…he needs proof. She continues that the Sadoglus are behind it and they are doing a good job…why else is Hanife not in jail right now. She spends web after web of lie with a few sprinkles of truth to keep Miran confused and in doubt. Just when she thinks she's gotten him back under her spell … he reminds her that all the fighting that’s going on is because of her and he knows she is still hiding things from him. When he leaves, she takes out a picture of a young girl and thinks to herself that she’s not hiding anything….it’s Ayse that’s hiding a secret….but she will talk when the time comes.

Reyan returns and Sukran wants to know what’s going on. She assures her that Miran will update her. Gonul demands Reyan tell them what’s going on. Reyan tries to ignore her but when she blames Reyan for the chaos around them and Miran’s torment…Reyan calls bullshit. Gonul is not worried about Miran’s mental health. Gonul rightly points out that the venganza not only affects ReyMir but everyone around them. Reyan tells her she's right but she need not point a finger at her but at the person who started it all. Sukran takes it all in.

Reyan returns to the room to find Miran on his knees reading the notes. She inquires about his talk with Azize. He tells her that maybe Hazar was right…there could be another enemy out there. She wants to know what that has to do with the threats Azize made against Gabriel. She admits that there could be other enemies but they have only helped ReyMir. He has her to read the note that Sukran received and when she does, she believes its proof that Azize has lied about the past. He’s not so sure…the notes don’t mean the same thing for him….he needs to know who is behind them. He wants to speak with Sukran so Reyan reminds him that she is not like Azize and is more sensitive. He assures her that he won’t do anything to hurt her.

Of course when ReyMir enter her room, Sukran is anxious to know what’s going on and what it has to do with Dilsah. He presents the note to her and she confirms she did bring it with her. She explains that a kid showed up on her doorstep with a note that said you will see your grandson but give this note to Azize. She had no idea what was going on and was stunned when she heard Miran’s name. She tries to describe the kid for Miran and he is reminded of the kid that came to him when Reyan was kidnapped. She confirms that it was her fear of Azize that kept her quiet about him all these years but when she was presented with the chance to see him, she had to take it….and she cries. He tells her not to cry and that he believes her but wants to know why she didn’t tell him about the note. She explained that she was afraid he would be hurt.

Later that night, Felipe is somewhere with Hazar having updated him about the ring. Hazar is optimistic and wants to know how Miran reacted to the news about the ring. Felipe’s not sure he believes and understands if Miran wasn’t lied to in the beginning, perhaps things would be different. Hazar is disappointed….perhaps everything happens for a reason…he ponders. Felipe warns Hazar to watch out for Azize and thinks she’d tried to get rid of anyone that could reveal the truth about the past.

Dondi thank you once again for this excellent recap! Part one hasn't reappeared yet, but since my brain has decided sleep was optional last night I am wide awake much too early and commenting now. I will read part 1 later.

My favorite part of the recap and the episode: 'Fatma says, if you’re crazy, ask God for help.' Preach girl!! I like Kerim but he could definitely use some help and especially divine intervention! That was the most astute comment Fatma has made yet.

I also liked the comment when they were in the police station and Muka said something like, 'Kerim tell him to believe me' and Kerim responded with something like 'on this topic and nothing else' LMAO....unless I understood wrong but that's okay too because my understanding of it was hilarious.

It looks like the rotten ricos are going to convince Meltem once again to ignore her own instincts that are screaming at her! Sad

Fatma saying being nice to you is like betraying myself is such a powerful statement. Once again, it makes you think about what would it be like to be in her shoes. To be faced day in and day out with this man who is your 'husband' and your enemy. To want to hate him but to also need him. Like she said to Mustafa, Kerim stayed. He accepted responsibility, he is the one protecting her. And then he's kind and loving and gentle and it must be so hard to struggle against that, especially as you see how much she thrives in Meryem's kindness and gentleness it's pretty obvious that she's drawn to those qualities - who wouldn't be? Except Muka, of course.

I never anticipated typing the words I agree with Muka, but I liked what she said to Fatme (not the fact that she was snooping) ' let him do as he wishes. So what, he loves you from a distance. He doesn’t push it. Does he force you to love him back? Just let him love you.'

Loved Meryem showing Resat what Integrity looks like! You can't buy me! No Sir, everyone else he's negotiated with sold Fatma down the river but she's not going to! Everyone should have a Meryem in their lives. Also, I am really shocked that Resat acknowledged that Kerim didn't rape Fatma, I expected him to stick to the narrative.

Sami is much better looking than Mustafa. I am not saying he's a good boyfriend choice, I mean he's a creepy two-bit pimp, but Azu doesn't seem to be all that interested in making good choices in the man department so I think he would still be an improvement for her. Mustafa is just creepy...run girl, run!!!

Dondi, your part 1 is back where it should be

Also, Rahmi dropping that log real quick when the cop said they had to go to the station was hilarious!!!

Herc

Nett! Great recap! Full of reveals indeed! Thank you! Funny thing is, those who can clear things up succinctly, won’t, like Sultana, Hanife and Esma . Sultana is bitter and vengeful (not without reason) but has learned the art playing games and waiting — and relishing in the element of surprise. I can’t stand her because she has no honor. Esma, otoh, I’m very disappointed in. She knows EVERYTHING, yet because of that reason, and Azize’s pain, she allows so many others to be hurt. I don’t believe she’s afraid of Azize anymore, just misplaced her sense of truth and justice. Then there’s Hanife, who has just been bamboozled by her older sister. She’s given up her whole life for one that isn’t even hers! Not her battle….not her fight. She should’ve told Azize to kiss her pretty blue ( or are the green, lol) eyes a long, long time ago!

Miran makes me sick, but at least he’s more willing to search for the truth and knows somewhere deep down that Azize’s truth ain’t all there is to the story. How he allows her to manipulate him makes me want to vomit. Why in the world does he think that she’ll change her story about anything? Why does he think that she’s incapable of twisting the truth to suit her own needs? When she’s discovered to be the liar that she is, will he have a mental breakdown because he’s refused to see her for what she is? He say’s he needs facts, but she hasn’t given him any either, just that the Sadoglus are capable of anything. Well so the hell is she Miran! Look at her !!!

Proud of Reyyan who takes nobody’s crap anymore I.e. Gonul. Although I would think that Miran’s never ending saga has to be getting on her nerves cause it sure is getting on mine! I wish she would just leave him till he finds himself and the truth——-ain’t gonna happen though…….cause when you think about it, Reyyan’s not a Sadoglus or Aslanbey, so why is she mixed up in all this mess???

Never trusted Harun. He’s a slithering parasite, and my guess is that he’s either direct family or working for the family of the Aslanbeys. Didn’t Azize’s husband have a brother and sister? Didn’t her husband’s mother not think her worthy of her son too? I thought that was mentioned back in earlier episodes, or there was a scene between young Azize and her husband’s mother??
Either way, it’s the Aslanbeys who seem to thrive on revenge…not the Sadoglus………

Thanks again Nett ! Much appreciated!

Fatmagul

Dondi356 thank you for the recap.

During the conversation by the truck Fatmagul did not want to be seen speaking to Kerim and hurried back inside, as if thinking "what am I doing?" But was happy to greet Meryem when she came in. It was sweet how she tried to lift Meryem's spirit, returning the love and care she received from her.

"She’s not in the mood for another conversation. He’s puzzled. Did he really think it would be that easy?" - yes, the reminder that there is a lot of effort and patience needed, but maybe there is hope.

Brava,_Dondi , for another excellent retelling of this fascinating story. I look forward to your words and insights every day.

On second watch, Muka is even worse and far more abusive to everyo ne in her family than I first thought , but she does advocate for Kerim in her bossy , irritating fashion , but she does so in an annoying, pushy, nasty way. Also, I realize now that one reason she wanted Kerim to marry Fatmagul was to relieve her of the responsibility of taking care of Fatmagul . Muk has been the " mother" of that family for several years. Now that Kerim has been living with them for awhile , she sees that she can push so much onto him . He is good at fixing things , and he actually tries to fix things when she yells an order at him . He often looks stunned at her bossiness, but then he takes on the order. Muk recognizes that Kerim is valuable to her because he is dependable and strong. He is kind and understanding with both Rami and Murat. Muk is selfish and is smart effort to realize that Kerim can take on her burdens as the main Caretaker in the household. Muk wants to hand the burdens onto Kerim. My hub was a sweet, smart, caring, dependable guy , and he used to say " Everybody wants me to make it happen for them,. " And he always did. My mother and aunt used to tell me , " You're so lucky to have him. ", and he used to tell me " I take care of them for you. " I think that is how Kerim thinks of it. He is trying to take care of the whole family because he loves Fatmagul.

Fatmagul

Thanks, Rgv Chick for restoring my recap! Thanks, everyone, for reading and commenting.
Darcy, I had to laugh at how Kerim remained silent though most of Mehmet’s questioning with Muka blathering on and on. He didn’t have to say anything, his expressions said it all.
Disbelief, frustration, disgust, with a little bit of guilt and shame added. When he lowered his head and put his hand over his eyes… In the Turkish, Muka said I’m the only one speaking. Kerim, won’t you say anything? He responded, there’s nothing else to be said. Viewers can take that in a couple of ways.

Susanlynn, it’s amazing how Muka takes every opportunity, no matter how small, to slip in a barb. No one is immune. She barely cares for her own son, constantly pawning him off on Rahmi or Fatma. And, she took the Yasarans’ hush money and planned to pawn Fatma off on Kerim. That woman is radio-active toxic.

novelera, Kerim was brought in because Mehmet is investigating his suspicions of a cover up and had more questions. I also noticed that Murat and Fatma don’t always sleep together now. They shared a bed back home. There is no explanation. But Murat is very attached to his hala.

I agree Lucio, Fatma comforting Meryem was very sweet. They are strengthening their bond.

What was Meryem thinking when she went to see Resat? How would it change anything? I guess she just needed to get it all out. But two good things came out of it. Resat admitted that Kerim didn’t rape Fatma, and he outed Muka’s greed.

Leman put her foot in her mouth with the revelation to Meltem that Mustafa is Fatma’s ex. We’ll see what Meltem does with that info.

Time is tight today. I’ll try to get a mini cap up later this evening.

Excellent recap Nett, thank you! I was so surprised to see the handsome Gabriel back to honor is Father's dying/lying wish. So many reveals and so little time to comment, just wanted to say thank you!

Wow, Nett, what a superb recap you did of this extremely interesting episode! I wasn't able to watch the episode until today, and I didn't read your recap until after I had watched it. You captured everything beautifully!! You even included a couple of things I hadn't noticed.

Of course, I was completely surprised by the episode's last few minutes. I've never liked or trusted Huran, and this episode certainly didn't make me change my mind. However, it's quite unclear who he's working for. It apparently isn't the Sadoglu clan. But it's not clear that it's the Aslanbeys, either. Hanife seems thoroughly shaken when Huran explains what those he works for want from her. It's not clear whether she's upset at how this may harm Azize or whether she's concerned for the welfare of one or more of the Sadoglus. Or??

At one point near the end, Huran says to the person on the phone, "Don't tell me about the surprise at the hospital." I have no idea what he's referring to. The only surprise at a hospital that I recall is Azize's surprise when she's seen and overheard by Zehra when she (Azize) is telling the unconscious Hazar that he will be killed by his son. I suppose Miran's donating blood to save Hazar might also count as a surprise. But I doubt that either of these things is what Huran is referring to.

One other thing. I've never quite understood who owns the hotel. If it's the Aslanbey hotel, I assume the Aslanbeys are the owners. But in a meeting of the Sadoglus in a very recent episode, someone mentions that they and the Aslanbeys share ownership of the hotel. I mention all this because at the end of the present episode, Huran announces smugly that the next day, he'll be meeting with his father-in-law and his brother-in-law (presumably Cihan and Azat) and "taking over ownership of their hotels" (tomando posesión de sus hoteles). Huh? So is Huran somehow working for the Aslanbeys? Or, as seems increasingly possible, there's a third group involved, neither Sadoglu or Aslanbey? Perhaps tonight's episode will shed more light on some of this.

Again, MANY thanks, Nett!

Great recap, Nett! Captured it all in style. Thanks so much. “She tries a Jedi mind trick…” lol

Anyone here who can lip read Turkish? Dying to know what Harun said that nearly knocked Hanife off her feet! He is working with the note writer, and they seem to know a lot of secrets. They really have it in for Azize. Could the note taker or Harun be Sultana’s missing son? I think you are right, Carmella, there are other Aslanbey relatives out there. This storyline has my interest.

Such a fine recap, Nett! I really appreciate all the details and all the dialog.

I have no idea who Harun is involved with, but I'm pretty sure it has to do with the mysterious "enemy" Azize has. And I felt like throwing a shoe at the screen when they had Harun tell Hanife why he was there but they didn't tell us!

I was quite surprised by the appearance of Filippos. They kept showing Azize's face while he explained why he was there. It was another of those gratifying expressions like the one she had on her face when Zehra told her she had that letter from Miran's mother revealing "who's your daddy".

Back when Reyyan was betrothed to Miran there was some talk about the Sadoglu and the Aslanbey having some mutual financial interests and properties. Miran and Firat, I thought, took possession of everything as part of the "revenge". This included Nasuh's konak and other properties. I suppose I was mistaken and was surprised that Harun seemed to indicate that the Sadoglu had some hotel interests.

Every time Reyyan gets in someone's face, I smile from ear to ear. She told Gonul off in a very civilized way. She's done the same with Azize more than once.

More gagging during the scene of Azize messing with Miran's head. She fake cried about the only lie she ever told him. That was when she tried to get Azat to leave the country, blackmailing him with a gun with fingerprints on it, and having Miran believe Reyyan was going with him. That blew up in her face immediately. I guess they're just going with Miran getting a bit more suspicious every time someone accuses Azize of something but never quite coming around to realizing what a monster she is.
