Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #18
Part 1 of 7

The Disney Princess (thank you Susanlynn) Elif stands smiling before the mirror as someone knocks on the hotel room door, her smile fades as sees who walks in, she asks, what do you want?

At the fancy dinner, everyone looks a bit uptight as the camera pans around the patio dinner table. Suddenly, we see Elif running out of the front door of the hotel, she drops her white fur cape, the guard calls to her as she turns around and says, Good Bye Azat. She continues to run up the alleyway until she arrives at the Azize car convey, Mahmoud opens the car door and HAG orders her in the car. With resolve, Elif says, I will ride in the car, but as corpse, as she gets in the car and they drive off, Elif crying.

Azat opens the hotel room door looking for Elif. He looks concerned. Back to the patio, Gonul enters after her little chat with Azat, she notices Reyyan looking at the empty chair next to her. Smirking, Gonul tells her, he won’t come. Searchingly, Reyyan looks over to Firat, who with a nod of the head, also indicates that the Big Baby will not be in attendance. Turning her face away from the Aslanbey side of the table, Reyyan begins to cry, telling Melike, he won’t come, it is really over.

On top of the hotel rooftop, Miran stands overlooking the city, Hazar approaches saying, you called and here I am. Miran says, I did not call you here to be friends Hazar Sadoglu. We both have doubts about the past as it appears that things are being kept from us. I propose we work together to find what those things are. Together? Says Hazar. Miran says, I don’t want to do anything that I end up regretting. Let’s find the truth together. You will share all the information? Asks Hazar. Yes, but we do this on one condition, says magnanimous Miran, no one will know we are working together, not even Reyyan. To the world, we remain enemies. Hazar says, but Reyyan it the person who most would like to see us working together. No, says Miran, I don’t want to get her hopes up if I discover that you did kill my parents. That letter only proves my abuela was lying, not that you didn’t kill them. So are you in? After a tense few seconds, Hazar says, I am all in.

Back at the patio wedding dinner table, Handan stumbles in, she greets the Aslanbey while Cihan gives her a look of where in the heck have you been?
Looks continue around the table, Good Grannie gives Reyyan a look of support, Harun is looking at Sultana (maybe his Mom?) as she gives him a look of disgust and turns her back on him (maybe not). Harun and Firat give each other spiteful looks. This continues until Azat walks in saying Elif? Have you seen Elif? Cihan tells him, you went to get her my son. She isn’t in her room says the agitated Azat. Immediately, both families are agitated. What do you mean she is missing? Where is she? As the realization hits, Azat says, Azize Aslanbey! Go, says Nasuh, go and get your wife!

Azat sprints out of the hotel, as the family roaches all follow and sees Miran getting into his car. Miran! Where is Elif? Azat opens the car door and sees it is empty. Looking long fully at Reyyan, Miran turns to Azat and says, where is Elif?

Some of the Sadoglu clan arrive back at the konak. GT is carrying Gul who asks if her Tio Azat will be okay? Yes, assures GT, everything will be fine as he hands over Gul to Hanife (who seems to be Gul’s real Mom these days).

Part 2 of 7

Out loud, Nasuh says, so Azize did what she said she would do. If Elif doesn’t return here tonight, you won’t have anywhere to go either. Handan and Yaren are still in the courtyard, listening. Handan loses it and attacks GT, yelling, you sent my son to die! Are you going to let my son and your sons die for an Aslanbey girl? Nasuh really loses it saying, Handan! You are the one who brought this girl into the family without consulting me and now she is a Sadoglu! She is one of us whether you like it or not! I don’t like it, she shouts and I will do everything in my power to keep her out of this house to keep my son alive.

Nasuh tells her to calm down since she is pregnant but to shut up as well. What are you going to do? Send your bride of all these years back home to her father? (All in Favor?). GT tells Yaren to take her mother away but Handan continues, I will never let anyone hurt my son and I am not going anywhere until my husband and son walk back through the front door. GT gets very angry, but leaves her standing in the cold courtyard as he walks away sputtering. Hanife and Yusuf are both quiet observers to this latest incident.

At the Aslanbey konak, a guard opens the front doors and Azize and her posse stand U-shaped, awaiting the arrival of the Sadoglu posse. It arrives with Miran in the lead car. He jumps out yelling for HAG, Azat is right on his heels yelling for Elif. Hazar and Cihan follow them in, the rest of the cockroaches scurry in behind them. At least Esma helps Good Grannie in. The Aslanbey guards all draw their guns. Miran asks for Elif. Azat demands to know where Elif Sadoglu is? Azize tells Miran to first cleanse his home of the enemy and then they can talk about Elif. Elif stands on the second floor, crying when she hears Azat call for her.

Cihan demands that Azize give him his bride back as the Sadoglu are not like her, Elif is a welcome addition to their family. The back and forth continues with Azize claiming that Elif came of her own free will. Elif watches as Azat (who has been remarkably calm) reverts back to his old ways, pulls his gun and fires a shot into the air (luckily, no 5-year-old children are nearby). This causes Elif to scream and tell them all to stop. To everyone in the courtyard’s horror, Elif is shouting at them to stop, standing in her once beautiful gown and makeup, on the ledge of the second story balcony. She yells, enough! Enough! I cannot stand it anymore!

HAG can only mutter, Elif…Gonul says, prima, no don’t do it. Reyyan whispers, no, Elif, no. Azat takes action first, followed by Miran and Reyyan up the staircase. Stop, warns, Elif. Don’t anyone come up here.

Azize Aslanbey, you are the reason for all of this, shouts Elif. You are so full of hatred; you will never end your revenge. Maybe it will end if I die! Azat makes it to the second story and says, Elif, stop. I am here for you; I came to get you. Reyyan says, please Elif, step down. Don’t do this. Miran says, we can talk about all of this. She looks over at the three of them and says, don’t take another step toward me. Stay where you are.

Elif, says Azat, look at me. Nothing else matters, please look at me. He puts down the gun, I am here to take you home. Go away, Azat. I cannot live in this evil anymore. I cannot live everyday in fear. I cannot stand that you live face to face with death everyday because of this venganza. It will be over Elif, I promise you, says Azat (too bad it isn’t Azize saying this) Nothing bad will happen anymore, I promise you Elif. Please get down from that ledge.

Part 3 of 7

Elif takes a scary step with one foot and everyone in the courtyard screams for her to stop. Reading the recappers mind, Gonul goes to HAG and tells her to end the venganza, nothing is worth losing Elif’s life! HAG says nothing. Azat tells Elif, let me help you down from the ledge, let me get closer. No, says Elif, maybe the venganza will end with my death. This is all your work Grandmother, shouts Elif.

No, shouts Azat, remember, we started down this road together so that everyone would live, not die, especially you. You were the one brave enough to stand up to your family, take my hand and take me down this road of peace too. Crying, Azat says, you cannot give up now Elif. It is not your death, but your big heart that will end this venganza (this statement gets Azat a surprised but approving look from Miran). Loving will be enough Elif. Loving will not be enough to end this revenge, says Elif. Besides, you don’t even love me.

It will be over Elif, I will love you too, I will try. I will try, look, look at me Elif. Love doesn’t work that way Azat, she says. I am willingly saying that I will try to love you, I will put all my effort into that, he says with a lot of emotion. Besides, if you die, do you think your HAG will stop the venganza? No, she will just add you to the list of revenge items. Please Elif, don’t let me live with that on my shoulders. With your love, I can be healed too. I can learn to love you and be happy. No, says Elif, love does not fall into a person’s heart like that. At a loss for anything more to say, Azat looks over to Miran.

Miran tells her, step down Elif, let us talk. No, she says again, nothing will change. Yes, it can, he says, it will be like you wish. Reyyan chimes in saying, Elif, you haven’t even tried to live your dreams with Azat. Try, don’t do this, you had hopes. All my hope is gone that this revenge will end or that you will love me, she says directly to Azat. Elif, Elif, Elif, says Azat, everything will be as you wish. We will be together and live happily together. No, says Elif, it is too late now, as she takes another step toward the end of the ledge.

By some miracle, Azat is close enough to grab her before she falls (seriously Patio, I thought she was going to jump) No, Azat, let me go, says Elif. Let me end this. Picking her up, Azat says, we are going home. The Horrible Awful HAG still tells her guards to block Azat’s way. Miran grabs the gun Azat left on the balcony ledge and tells the guards to clear a path to the car. At the bottom of the stairs HAG tells Miran to stop Azat. He tells HAG that Elif would rather die than be around her so let Elif go and live the life she chose. He hands the gun to Cihan as the Sadoglu’s head back home.

Reyyan starts to leaves with them, but Miran calls her back, asking her to stay. She tells him she loves him but he is the one who continues with this venganza. He is the one who did not show up to the wedding dinner even though she saved him a chair. She has been clear; they cannot be together until he gives this revenge thing up. With that, she walks out (good job Reyyan) and a look passes between Hazar and Miran. (Recapper takes a break because we are only 25 minutes into this double episode and I am emotionally exhausted).

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #18
Part 4 of 7

At the Aslanbey konak, the waiting and wailing of Handan about her baby boy, Azat, continues. The sound of cars pulling up in the alleyway alert them to the arrival. Handan runs to the front gate, calling for Azat. Everyone scatters in, including Reyyan who ignores Hazar. Azat is last in, with Elif at his side. Handan looks completely stunned seeing her. A look goes between them. GT asks Elif, who took you Elif or did you leave on your own. Another look exchange with Handan. Tell me girl, says GT.

Elif remembers the discussion with Handan, who clearly was the one who knocked on the door and ruined Elif’s good mood and wedding dinner. Handan tells Elif that her marriage to Azat keeps him in mortal danger. There is nothing that Handan wouldn’t do to help him. Me too, says Elif. Really, says Handan. What would you say if I told you that a few minutes ago your HAG threatened Azat’s life if I didn’t do something to end this marriage? Go to her, says Handan. Save Azat’s life.

To GT, Elif says, Handan was the one who sent me away. (Ha! Good for you Elif!!) Stunned looks go from Azat, to Nasuh to Cihan. My grandmother sent her and threatened Azat’s life if I didn’t comply. He would become part of her revenge. Mother? Questions Azat. Handan? Why would you do that? ask Cihan. Why? she responds. Because I will do anything to save my son’s life. By going over your husband and son by not asking us our opinion? You would rather make a deal with the enemy? Hazar tries to calm things down, but Handan snaps at him saying we are all in this venganza because of you! She continues to rant until Azat tells her to shut the heck up. She will not interfere with him or his life and she will leave Elif alone. Elif is his wife and a Sadoglu. Hazar tells Azat to take Elif to their room so she can rest (please call a counselor or psychiatrist while you are at it).

GT tells Handan that she never had the authority to deal with the devil. Handan loses it with GT and Cihan, screaming that she will not let her only son die, so GT can get her way and she will make sure that Elif leaves the house. Cihan tells her that if she ever does something like that again he will divorce her without a second thought. A look goes between Harun and Hanife. Handan won’t give it up and says that she will get rid of Elif. Again, Hazar acts as peace maker, telling Cihan to calm down and tells Handan, because of what she did, Elif nearly committed suicide. This seems to take the hot air out of her and Cihan sends her up to their room.

Harun tells Cihan it is time for him to head out. Cihan tells him to wait, he is also going to the hotel for the night. Cihan asks Hazar to call him if anything happens but he can’t be around Handan. Hazar tries to tell him to stay, but Cihan is done and leaves with Harun. Hazar tells Yaren not to leave her mother alone tonight.

At the Aslanbey courtyard, HAG is still steaming that Miran did nothing to stop Azat from taking Elif. Miran reminds her that Elif was going to kill herself because of HAG and the Sadoglu had nothing to do with that. What is the real reason for your anger? Because you were exposed and looked weak in front of them? HAG continues ranting and finally Miran says, enough. I am tired of you using my parents, I am tired of you bossing us all around and playing queen bee. Enough! HAG takes a quieter tone, saying fine, I will not interfere with your lives anymore.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #18
Part 5 of 7

HAG tells Miran that because of his love for Reyyan, he forgot his parents and is not a good son. Miran fights back and says that in spite of her, he and Reyyan have been able to stay together. He has not forgotten his parents but he will not allow her to do to Elif what she did to him and Reyyan. Her revenge is not against the Sadoglu but now against them, the Aslanbey family, because of everything she has done. Because of her, they are being destroyed more and more every day. He clicks his tongue in disgust and leaves. Firat follow after him. HAG goes upstairs and the other women retreat back to their nonexistent lives.

HAG gets to her bedroom and thinks back to what Miran said. When did you stop claiming this revenge Miran? Her phone rings. It is Hanife. Azize wonders if she too has sold out to the Sadoglu clan. She remembers a call from Hanife telling her that she is now a double agent, pretending to work against Azize for Nasuh. Azize answers the call. Hanife tells her that Handan sold her out. Everyone there now knows it was Azize who approached Handan. Azize is cool with Handan, saying she is aware of everything going on and hangs up the phone, thinking, if you have betrayed me, it will come out somehow Hanife.

Reyyan paces in her old bedroom. Hazar comes to visit and asks how she is doing? Terrible, she says. After all, Miran and I have been through, I just feel we are never going to make it. He remembers his conversation with Miran about working together to find the truth but not clueing in Reyyan. Hazar is very encouraging and tells her not to give up hope. He leaves the room and calls Miran who is pouting outside the Aslanbey konak with Firat. Hazar tells him that no, Reyyan is not doing okay and the best thing Miran can do is tell her the truth about them working together and to come and pick her up. ReyMir must be together to make this work. Miran calls for his car.

Harun is on the phone in his hotel room speaking with the puppet master. He relays that Handan ruined the kidnapping plan and the scary scene with Elif. He tells the caller, there is never a dull day with your family and the Sadoglus. He thinks that ReyMir separation won’t last long as Miran is crazy for her, but yes, their time will come soon (Que the Heck?). Sultana talks to herself in her room, saying that Azize’s pain is deadened now that ReyMir are apart, but she needs to wait a bit longer.

Azat holds Elif in the crook of his arm. She says, you don’t have to do this, I don’t want to condemn you for the rest of your life after the fear I put you through just because you said those things on the balcony to save me. He tells her that he wants to try and even tells her the story of Hazar and Zerah (who I do not miss at all) not being in love when they married, but grew to love each other. I have to say this, because I may never be this brave again, I love you Azat. I don’t know when it happened or why, but I love you very much. I was embarrassed at first because of Reyyan and I just tried to be friends, but my heart would not be silent. Now my tongue cannot be silent, I love you so much that I know you are not happy, but I want you to listen to your heart and not to me. Azat looks at her gently and says, I really do want to try Elif, it you still want too. She shakes her head yes and he again puts his arm around her.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #18
Part 6 of 7

Azize confronts Sultana, Gonul and Esma for going to the wedding dinner hosted by the enemy. I agree with Sultana, every time Azize opens her mouth, it is like Groundhog Day. (Feel free to add to this conversation if you wish).

There is a scene with Cihan at the hotel room remembering what Handan yelled at him and then it is Handan in the bedroom, Yaren asleep by her side, remembering what Cihan told her. She tells the baby that she will protect her children over everyone, even Cihan.

Reyyan is crying in her old bedroom as Hazar enters. She initially thinks it is Miran. Hazar says, there is something I need to tell you. Next we see a much happier Reyyan racing down the stairs into the Sadoglu courtyard where Miran waits. She runs into his arms and they hug, ReyMir has survived again. Hazar looks pretty proud of himself and Reyyan ask Miran not to hide things from her anymore. They will always be together moving forward. Miran tells her he wants to leave but not go home but to the hotel. She says her home is where ever he is. Before leaving, Miran asks Hazar’s permission to see Elif. Hazar says he can see her whenever he wants but tells Miran that tonight, the best place for her is in the arms of the one she loves. Miran agrees, as Hazar shoos the lovebirds out of the konak.

ReyMir arrive at the hotel. They have some nice flirting chat time but Reyyan is feeling very tired, Miran thinks she has a fever and wants to take her to the hospital. She says she just needs to sleep. He puts her to bed and orders soup and hot tea then asks that someone go to the pharmacy to buy everything needed to cure a cold. He smiles as he watches her sleep.

On the roof top of his konak, Nasuh stands in the snow and thinks about the conversation he had with Filipos and what a terrible man Filipos said he was. Yusuf comes up and asks why he isn’t asleep. Nasuh says the past is keeping him up and he needs to close that loop. Everyone is now being affected by things he did in the past. In the bedroom, Hazar has a dream about that fateful night. He remembers seeing Dilsah alive the night both were shot. He starts yelling for Nasuh who was right outside his bedroom. Hazar tells him that Dilsah was alive and that Hazar saw him there too. It all seemed so real he tells Nasuh.

At the hotel, Reyyan is having a fever induced nightmare about Hazar. Miran tries to lower her fever by putting her in a cold tub of water. By the next morning she is feeling much better and Miran tells her she gave him a good scare. He has ordered breakfast they flirt some more. Miran makes a secretive call to ask someone if all the “preparations” were almost ready? He seems pleased with the answer. The next call is from Firat reminding him there is a board meeting at 11 am. Miran says he will be there after stopping by to visit Good Grannie first.

Azize comes to Gonul’s room and tells her that she is going to nominate her to take the vacated seat on the board. Gonul is to vote her back in, against the Sadoglu’s, as chairperson of the board. HAG hints around that Gonul will get more information about her brother, but doesn’t really promise anything. Gonul thinks to herself, yes, I am your granddaughter and I am going to play the game like you. I will find out who my brother is.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #18
Part 7 of 7

At breakfast, Gonul sucks up to HAG by serving her tea and Sultana is her smarty pants self, claiming that after the strange night, now everything is like heaven. Azize asks for Miran, just as he and Reyyan walk in wishing everyone a good morning. HAG does not look pleased at the reconciliation. Good Grannie is thrilled and tells them not to let anyone keep them apart. HAG reminds Miran of the board meeting. He says, he is already in the know. Miran speaks with Good Grannie in pleasant tones as HAG glares across the table.

Yaren is in her room trying not to panic over the midnight visit from Harun a few nights before. She tries to think of a way to get rid of him that isn’t as pathetic as Elif almost launching herself off the balcony. She Googles “how to get rid of your pain in the ass boyfriend” and finds a 10-step plan. She chooses number 6 that recommends smothering the boyfriend with clinginess and questions. After receiving a text from Harun saying he received permission from Cihan to celebrate a special Saint Valentine’s Day with her, she calls him and is all sweetness and light. She does demand that he send her a selfie to prove he really is where he said he was. This should get very interesting.

One the rooftop of the hotel, Azat and Elif are sitting staring at the fire pit. Elif still looks pretty miserable. Azat tells her he doesn’t want to continue asking, but is she really okay? She smiles slightly and says it will take time, but she will be okay. ReyMir bound up the stairs and head over to say hello. Reyyan gives Elif a big hug, Miran and Azat greet each other with a nod of the head (some progress). Miran hugs Elif and asks her how she is doing. Then he asks, what happened last night? With a glance over to Azat, who nods his head in approval, she tells ReyMir that HAG threatened Handan with killing Azat if Elif didn’t leave the wedding dinner immediately.

Azize arrives at the hotel and calls Firat to ensure everything is ready for the board meeting. Gonul has arrived? No? Didn’t you tell her the meeting was at 11 am? HAG calls Gonul who is sitting in a coffee shop and tells HAG that she is out getting some air. Aren’t you on your way to the hotel? snaps HAG, the meeting starts in 15 minutes. Smiling casually, Gonul says, yes, I know. I may or may not be there it depends on you, as this interesting and long episode ends.

Many thanks, VVS, for this superb, wonderfully detailed recap of an exciting and intriguing episode. Like you, I really thought there was a good chance that Elif was going to jump. She certainly shook everyone up, including Azize. But apparently nothing is going to stop Azize's wish for venganza.

Also like you, I was pleased when Elif outed Handan, revealing Handan's meeting with Azize and her agreeing to Azize's demand. Elif may look like a beaten dog, but she remains a very gutsy young woman. I would dearly like to see Azat fall in love with her, but I think she's right that "trying" to love someone isn't normally the way love happens. But, as was pointed out, Hazar and Zehra weren't madly in love when they got married, but over time they came to love each other. Perhaps there's hope for Elif and Azat.

Hanife may have told Azize that Handan sold her out, but really, wasn't it Elif who revealed Azize's plan?

Harun continues to puzzle and intrigue me. Why does he say that ReyMir's time will soon be up? And who is he working for/with? And what is his ultimate aim?

So Hazar may not think he remembers much about what happened after he was shot, but his memory may still work in his dream. It's interesting that in his dream, he calls out to Nasuh, who may actually have been present. Was he present because he shot Mehmet? Is it possible that he also killed Dilsah, who seems to have been conscious for a while before she died? I've been assuming that Mehmet killed her, but we've seen that Nasuh also had motivation--to prevent Hazar from marrying Dilsah and also to prevent Dilsah from telling Hazar that his father refused to help her when she pleaded with him.

So Gonul is trying to take on Azize. Unfortunately for Gonul, none of her plans have turned out the way she wanted them to. Will this one be any better?

Absolutely superb recap VVS! So cool how you’ve manage to capture everything in this long, long, long episode!

Poor Elif! Her feelings about everything run so deep! She’s such a sensitive and sweet soul, which is one of the reasons why Azat wants to “try,” but like Elif said, trying is not enough, and that’s not how it works. “Trying” can eventually turn into resentment , and even though you can grow to have mutual love and respect for the other person, I don’t see Azat settling for anything but the real thing for himself. I do want Elif to have her HEA too, but I don’t feel that Azat is her man. I’m glad she outed both Handan and Azize though! I almost forgot what a bruja Handan could be! As for Azize, she cares about NOTHING but her plan, and can turn it on and off like nobody’s business! I hate to say it, but Azize would’ve been a great prostitute, cause she gives FANTASTIC head of the mind f*#$ kind! She plays with these people’s minds like Dr Hannibal Lecter! I honestly can’t wait till karma digs deep in that black soul of hers!!

Hazar is going to start remembering things, and whatever it is that Nasuh is so afraid of,is coming to light. Nasuh should just come clean and ask his son’s forgiveness. Honestly, I’m beginning to think that Dilsah isn’t dead too, and Nasuh knows something about that——- both him and Azize.

Harun is getting on my nerves! I just don’t like him! He’s already gotten a bunch of licks in, and now it’s Yaren’s turn. I’m ready for her to give him a beatdown, lol.

So nice, this episode to see a calmer, more logical, “ I ain’t gonna take your s#!t tonight abuela,” Miran! Lol

Thanks again VVS! Loved this one!

Thank you Juanita for always being one of the first on the patio to comment not only on my recaps but on all the other recappers (including yourself) hard work. The 85-minute episode definitely took extra time to craft especially with everything going on. Almost everyone had a back story that seem crucial to the overall story.

I hope the Azat can fall in love with Elif, really, what’s not to love? I just don’t see a good ending for the two especially after her near successful suicide attempt. Just asking someone if they are okay doesn’t change the reason for the attempt. I was stunned by Azize’s deep need for venganza. No wonder everyone else around her has died.

I am struggling with the Handan over the top scenes, but a mother will protect her child at all cost. I agree Juanita, it was Elif who really outed Azize, not Handan.

I might have to review the Harun scene where he was on the phone again. The casualness that he spoke with the other person, who is clearly an Aslanbey, makes me wonder if this is Sultana’s not so dead son. My question is how would he know so much about Azize?

I think Hazar’s dream is more like memory. Could it be that Nasuh killed Mehmet after Mehmet shot Hazar and Dilsah? Did Azize see this happen? Is Dilsah alive? Is this the root cause of the venganza? So many questions!

Gonul definitely thinks she can outsmart HAG by not showing up to vote her back into the board chair position.

Fatmagul

You could tell that yesterday's episode chopped another Fatma/Kerim scene when it showed her later thinking back on Kerim saying something we never saw him say to her...why do they keep doing this?? There's so many scenes you can cut you would think scenes between the main protagonists of the show would be the last to go!

Fatmagul #25 part 1

Fatma checks on Rahmi in his bedroom. He pretends to be asleep, holding on to one of Murat’s toy trucks. She asks him to get up to eat. He’s not hungry, he just wants to sleep. Call me if you need anything, she says and covers him.

Meryem is almost finished preparing the dinner, all that’s left is the salad dressing. Fatma jumps up and says she’ll do it. Yeah, and also look out the window at the shed. Meryem notices and says when Kerim comes out of the bathroom, they can prepare his tray. [busted, Fatma]

Rahmi thinks back to Murat asking his father why he acts strange sometimes. Rahmi answers, sometimes he gets confused.

Fatma says she’s not hungry and when Kerim enters the kitchen, he says he’s not hungry either. Meryem is ticked, she wants them to eat. Kerim gives in, he will eat a little. Meryem fills the soup plates. Fatma puts Kerim’s down on the table! He’s in shock. Meryem motions to Kerim to sit.

Fatma comments that Muka’s phone is still off. Fatma feels that whatever the case, Muka needs to speak with Rahmi. Rahmi is Murat’s legal father. She worries Muka and Salih might leave Istanbul. Should we call the police? My brother has rights, she says. Meryem isn’t sure that would be best for Murat.

In the middle of dinner, Kerim gets a call from Kristen. He steps outside to take it. Fatma is not happy and looks out the window at Kerim. She picks up with the Muka-Salih conversation. I wonder if his wife knows, she says. That woman will suffer like my brother. But she keeps looking out the window at Kerim.

Muka picks up her phone. Rahmi’s name is on the screen, but she puts the phone down.
Kerim comes back into the kitchen. Kristen is coming in two days, he says, she asked if I could start work immediately. Kerim thinks that this will be good for him. [Fatma thinks not so much] Fatma says she hears Rahmi and jumps up. Meryem says Fatma only thought she heard, come back and eat. Fatma isn’t hungry and she excuses herself. Kerim is like, what’s up with that?

Fatma sits by the front window. She takes out her book to study, but she can’t concentrate.

The wait continues outside of Mustafa’s room. The doctor comes out and tells them everything is under control. Halide turns her upset towards Asu. Why are you still here, she asks? What are you waiting for? It’s your fault my son is in intensive care. [it was Fatma’s fault earlier] Emin has to hold her back. Halide wants Emin to throw Asu out. Asu says that she’s afraid to go home. She is in danger, too, because Mustafa is her boyfriend. Halide says, don’t mention his name. He’s your novio? He’s not your novio! Leave!

Meltem’s housewarming dinner party. Ha, ha, Selim must be careful because of his “gastric problem”. Turaner is asked how the planning of his new campaign is going. It’s going well and it seems he will be the leading candidate.

Turaner tells Resat he was talking to the President. The president asked why doesn’t Resat join our party? Turaner thinks that’s a good idea and so does Erdo. Resat is flattered. Semsi thinks that Resat could win their district. Perihan doesn’t like the idea. Resat is hesitant about the whole thing.

The doorbell rings and surprise—It’s Gaye! She can’t stay long; she just came to say goodbye. Turaner asks her why she suddenly changed her mind about staying in Istanbul. Gaye says she got bored. Camera focuses on Munir and Erdo, lol.

Fatma is still at the front window and Kerim stands in the doorway. Why did you get up from the table, he asks? I didn’t want to eat, she replies. Are you annoyed at me, he asks, did I do something wrong? Annoyed, she asks? I’m just worried about my brother, Fatma says. That’s it.

Fatmagul #25 part 2

Kerim presses further, if this is about that phone call… Fatma interrupts, what do I care about your phone call? Are you crazy? Why should I care? You can talk to whomever you want. I’m worried about my brother and you’re talking nonsense. [who is she trying to fool?] Kerim says he won’t say any more.

Fatma doesn’t let it go. Are you seriously thinking I am worried about you, she asks? [that’s what I thought] Okay, Kerim says to calm her. He sits and turns on the TV. Who do you think you are, she asks? Kerim says ok, stop. Lower the volume, Fatma snaps, my brother is sleeping. Kerim shuts the TV and gets up to leave. Fatma tells him, I said lower it, not shut it. Kerim turns and answers, I don’t want to wake your brother. He goes.

Muka listens to her messages: Rhami, Meryem, Fatma. She gets Murat up to change his clothes. Murat says he wants to go home. He wants to sleep with his dad. I want my dad and my aunt, he says. Muka says a terrible thing: but they don’t want us. We can’t go back home, do you understand? Murat asks why. She tells him go to sleep now and I will tell you everything in the morning. Murat is smart. He tells his mom she’s lying. My dad loves me, he says. He told me he loves me.

Muka’s phone rings. Rahmi is excited… the phone is ringing! Everyone comes running. Muka answers. Rahmi asks, where are you? Where did you go? We are worried, I’m very worried. Muka says there is nothing to worry about. We are at a hotel, I can’t tell you where.

Murat takes the phone—dad? Rahmi replies, I am your father, I love you very much. Murat tells his dad he wants to come back home. Tell me where you are and I’ll come get you, Rahmi says. My mother says you didn’t want me anymore, Murat asks, don’t you want me? Of course I want you, Rahmi replies, you are my only son. You are my everything.

Muka takes the phone back. Rahmi begs her to tell him where she is. Don’t do this to me and Murat. Muka says she can’t come back. You will return, you will come back, you have to come back, he tells her. Muka says, they don’t want me, you don’t want me, every day they will talk about this. I can’t live like that. I can’t live in that house.

Rahmi says you can’t take my son away from me. I won’t leave my son. He’s my son… and you are my wife. This seems to get through to Muka. You are my everything, Rahmi tells her. Give me the directions. We’ll talk later at home.

Next, we see everyone rush out of the house. Meryem is taking Rahmi to get his wife and son. Meryem wants Fatma and Kerim to stay behind and make sure the house is warm. Fatma immediately turns and hurries back to the house and closes the door, literally and figuratively shutting Kerim out. Kerim goes to get wood for the stove.

Muka and Murat wait in the hotel lobby.

Munir walks Gaye out. He asks for a second chance. Gaye tells him no way and leaves. Leman comes out to confront Munir. They start an argument as Vural drives up to the house. He hears Leman cry, I risked my marriage for you! I behaved like a fool! Munir replies he didn’t force her to be with him. And with that, Vural rushes Munir and punches him, knocking him to the ground. [grab your bottle and shot glass] He shouts repeatedly, I’ll kill you, as he rains blows on Munir.

The guests inside hear the commotion and run outside. They pull Vural off Munir and everyone finds out that Leman and Munir had an affair. Vural takes off.

Kerim is trying to light the stove and he asks Fatma why she thinks Muka decided to return. She just gets up without a word and grabs her coat. Where are you going? Out. She wants to be alone for a while.

Fatmagul #25 part 3

Murat runs to his father’s arms. Muka sits silently, turned away from them. Let’s go, Rahmi says. They see her face and are shocked. As they leave the hotel, Salih pulls up in his van with a big bouquet of flowers. He watches. Meryem spots the van and so does Muka.

Fatma sits out back by the water. Kerim goes to her. It’s cold, you’ll get sick, he says. She’s not cold. Kerim says, if you are out here because of me, I’ll go to the shed. Fatma replies, I’m here because I want to be here. Not everything I do revolves around you. You’re not that important. Fatma continues, how can we live with that woman? How can we live together? Kerim agrees it’s a problem.

I’ll give you the Turkish for the rest of this scene. Fatma says she already has a lot of problems and how will I carry this weight as well. As well, Kerim repeats with frustration, here we go again. Stab me, so be it. Fatma gets angry. There you go again, shifting the subject to you. Don’t you ever think about anything else but yourself? Kerim says she is the one who does it. You try to get at me whenever you can. You don’t want to see how hard I try for you. I don’t want anything, Fatma answers, you don’t need to try.

Do you know what I want, he says, I want you to understand me. I don’t want to be treated this way. It’s torture. I can’t endure it. Who says you have to, she replies, you said you were going, you said you would divorce me but you didn’t. It was you who wanted this. I couldn’t go, he tells her, I can’t leave you. You should, she says, don’t pretend you pity me, it drives me crazy. I can’t bear this just because you want to feel less guilty.

Do you think this is easy for me, being this distant from you when you are right here, he asks? She gets up and walks away. He says softly, being this much in love and not being able to say a word. He runs in front of her, you don’t understand, “ben seni seviyorum”, I love you. So much, he adds. Fatma is a deer in the headlights.

They cut the end of the scene: Kerim repeats, I love you so much. You’re crazy, she replies. I’m saying that I love you, he tells her. She raises her voice, how can you say that! How dare you! I know, he replies, I have no right to love you, but I can’t help it. I didn’t go because I realized I couldn’t be without you. Because I was afraid to lose you, I didn’t divorce you. Fatmagul, I fell in love with you at first sight!

She bristles, what are you trying to do? Are you going to force me to love you as if nothing happened? Are you going to torture me even more? No, he tells her, I don’t expect anything from you. I just want hope. Do not hope, she asserts. You wouldn’t dare talk to me if you knew how I really feel about you.

Kerim says, these aren’t just words! I really love you! Shut up, she shouts, don’t ever say this again! I love you, he says. She covers her ears, shut up! I love you, he repeats. Shut up! Again, he repeats, I love you. She shouts, you don’t know how I feel! You know nothing!

She hurries away with Kerim following. He goes to the shed, she retreats to the house. Fatma is in shock, she has to catch her breath. She puts her hands on her cheeks as if she can feel the heat from them. Kerim is unhappy thinking he blew it once again.

Meryem continues the drive home. It’s a tense ride. We see Salih is tailing them.

Fatma sits by the front window. She twists her wedding ring. She hears Kerim’s words, I fell in love with you at first sight. She covers her ears. She replays that first encounter on the stairs. When he came up behind her later at the party. She hears a noise and goes to the back window and peeks out to the shed. We see Kerim hit his hands to his mouth in regret.

Fatmagul #25 part 4

Meltem talks with her mother about the horrible dinner party. About Leman and Munir. Turaner looks like he has a splitting headache. And Selim looks like embarrassed by what happened. If you care to discuss, be my guest.

Erdo is out searching for Vural. Vural is at a bar. He’s not taking any calls. He flashes back on overhearing his mother’s phone convo and tonight’s revelation.
More Yasaran crap. Perihan lets Munir have it. Munir blames Leman for everything. [what a guy!]

Leman and Semsi deal with the fallout. Leman wants to explain, it wasn’t serious. It’s done and over. He doesn’t want to hear it. He’s going to file for divorce.

Meryem pulls up to the house. Murat is happy to be back, Fatma is happy too. She welcomes Muka and notices her face. Fatma asks Meryem what happened. Meryem says they guy hit her but don’t say anything. Kerim goes to turn on the heater in the shed and sees Muka at the kitchen window. He goes to the house. Murat greets him. Kerim notices Muka’s face. We see Salih lurking outside the house.

It’s awkward in the house. They sit in silence for a while. Muka finally speaks up, I don’t want to talk about what happened. Rahmi promised that no one would ask for explanations. That was her condition for returning. And so Rahmi wouldn’t feel bad and Murat’s life wouldn’t be ruined. Nothing is as it seems, she continues, let me make that clear. Muka gets up and tells Murat to come to bed with her. Murat says he wants to sleep with his aunt. Muka goes to her room.

Murat wants to know why everyone is still quiet. He says his mother told him they would get a new house, but he told her he wanted to go back home to his father. My mother was mad at me and mad at that man. That man was bad. He shouted bad things. Meryem tells Murat to get ready for bed.

Rahmi enters the bedroom to get Murat’s PJs and says nothing to Muka. Meryem and Kerim say goodnight and head to the kitchen. Fatma comes into the kitchen. Meryem fills them in. Murat said that man hit Muka. Fatma says the only reason Muka came back is because that man wouldn’t accept her. Fatma leaves.

Meryem notices something between Fatma and Kerim. She asks him if they argued. He says no.

Erdo finds Vural. Vural wants to be alone. Erdo says he’s worried and he’s here to help. Vural just wants to be alone. He pays his tab and leaves. Erdo follows. Calm down, let’s talk. Vural is livid. Imagine how my father feels, he says. He shouts, I’m going to kill that idiot! Vural has a meltdown in the street.

Meryem and Fatma talk about Muka, Murat and Salih. More of the same stuff. Meryem adds that violence isn’t the way to handle a situation like this. Meryem picks up that something else is bothering Fatma. Fatma denies it.

Kerim and Rahmi talk in the kitchen. Rahmi says he felt alone. All he wanted to do was cry. He never thought he would be separated from Murat. Now he’s going to be afraid Murat could be separated from him. This fear is big.

Kerim says he understands. Fatma listens in. I know what it is like to lose a loved one, Kerim says, it’s terrible. It takes away everything that made you happy and all that’s left is their absence and your anger. You never feel complete, you feel abandoned, and you live your life like that. Like a ship adrift. But you have to continue. Rahmi says that’s it, that’s how he feels. Murat is his everything.

Rahmi says he wanted to be a good father and Kerim assures him that he is one. Kerim says he hopes he could be as good of a father as Rahmi. Rahmi replies that Kerim is a good man, and he will be a good father, too, if God wills it. All in good time. Fatma enters the kitchen.

dondi356

Fatmagul #25 part 5

Rahmi starts talking about what happened. He says that Salih should be punished. Kerim advises to leave it alone. The man is married, he doesn’t want to ruin his family. Forget it. Rahmi tries to look at it in another way. He’s angry now but if Muka didn’t lie, he wouldn’t have Murat and a family. He adds, [Turkish] she said she took refuge in me. She trusted me after the one she trusted most, betrayed her. But she chose me to protect her. She wanted to be with me. That’s important, right? Fatma smiles and nods. Kerim nods and looks at Fatma. Rahmi leaves to check on Murat.

Kerim stops Fatma from leaving. He apologizes to her. He can hardly look at her and she can’t look at him. He didn’t want to upset her or make her life more difficult. All I want, he says, is to be close to you. If what I said will take you further away from me, forget it. She slowly nods in agreement. He leaves.

Meryem walks in and senses once again something is going on. Fatma doesn’t want to talk. Meryem thinks it’s important that she talk and again suggests that Fatma seek professional help. Meryem says she will find a doctor for her. Fatma resists. Meryem says she has to get rid of the poison somehow. Write it down if you can’t speak. Fatma leaves.

Rahmi goes into the bedroom and Muka pretends to be asleep. He tells her to open her eyes. Don’t scare me like that again, he tells her. You left and look what happened. Stay by my side, I will never hurt you. I know you will never love me like you love that man. You never loved me because I’m stupid. Nevertheless, I love you. I love my son. Murat is my son. You are my family. You’re all I have. Don’t do this again. Muka cries.

Erdo takes Vural to his house. Hilmiye calls Semsi to say Vural is at her house and Erdo is taking care of him.

dondi356

Fatmagul #25 part 6

Vural asks Erdo, what am I going to do now? Who can you trust when you are hurt? Isn’t your mother the one who forgives your mistakes? Isn’t she the person you value most? You are who you are thanks to your mother. The only one that doesn’t let go of your hand. If you can’t trust your mother, who can you trust? Erdo says he’s there for Vural. And he won’t let Munir get away with this.

Perihan suggests that Munir lay low for a while.

Fatma opens her notebook. Maybe she’s taking Meryem’s advice to write. She can’t. She closes her book, puts on her coat and sneaks out the back door. But Meryem hears and goes to her window. She sees Fatma approach the shed. Fatma stops before the door and breathes deep. She takes the final steps and knocks.

Kerim is on his bed and he’s holding the flowers. He puts them away and goes to the door thinking it’s Meryem. Fatma appears in the doorway. I want to forget, too, she says, I don’t want to remember a single minute of that damn night. Each night I close my eyes, hoping for a new morning. But when I close my eyes, those images come. My head won’t let me forget, my body, everything… she struggles with the words…. My whole body reminds me. Kerim cries.

Fatma says, I lived that night, that you can’t remember. Kerim puts his finger to his lips and…shhhh (he can’t stand to hear any more). Fatma sobs, I lived every second of that that night like it was hours. She continues, I try to convince myself that you didn’t touch me. But I can’t convince myself. She sinks down against the wall.

Kerim swears he didn’t touch her. [Turkish] Fatma says, no matter how I try, I can’t think of you differently from that night. Kerim is devastated. I swear I want to forget, she says, I want to be able to love someone again. I want to be a normal person again. I want to feel better, I want to be happy. I want to trust someone…. She’s choking on her words. I want to be able to trust. I want someone who will be with me no matter what happens. I won’t leave you, Kerim tells her…. never. I’ll never leave you.

Fatmagul sobs.

And we are out.

Fatmagul

Dondi thank you again for another excellent, amazing, fantastic recap! And for filling in the blanks again.

I jumped the gun a little with my previous comment, sorry. It had been bugging me, and then I read the recap and even more so I am flabbergasted!! Why? How? When? Where? And WHAT?? They leave in all of the Yeserans BS, Vural's whole meltdown and Rami's (granted sweet but underserved) comforting of Muka, but they hack away at the scene of the main character declaring his love for the heroine??? Who makes these calls?? Seriously I want their phone number! I can't believe it....

Fatma shouldn't be shocked she heard him tell Meryem that he was in love with her and Erme also told her Kerim was in love with her so it's not exactly breaking news. Maybe she is shocked he actually said it. Then she says ' Do not hope, she asserts. You wouldn’t dare talk to me if you knew how I really feel about you.' So harsh but such an authentic portrayal of how she might be feeling in the moment. It also begs the question, does he know how she feels? Because he clearly knew she was jealous of Kristen, and she is clearly torn. She feels something for him but it is so beautifully portrayed as conflicting feelings - horror mixed in with whatever else. And she fears what she feels because she thinks what he really feels is just guilt and pity which is such a valid fear under the circumstances. So beautifully written.

I actually kind of hate the whole love at first sight claim. It's the first time the writers have made a choice I hated. It feels so dramatic, not to mention it adds a whole element to that night that is even more inexplicable. He's essentially saying he was already in love with her when he didn't do anything to stop the rape, which is worse I think and harder to understand. We know he was attracted to her at first sight, that was obvious but love??

I guess we get a better glimpse into how Fatma really does feel when she goes to him when she finally decides to let her feelings out. She could have gone to Meryem, or written it down, but she ran to Kerim and that was another heartbreaking and beautifully done scene. Her expressing her pain so well and him being unable to bear hearing it. She says she wants to love and trust'someone' again but she means him, I think.

Rami's stuff too was so good. And the nerve of Muka, I came back but no one is to ask me anything that's the condition!!! The gall. I hate her and I feel sorry for her at the same time. What a miserable person.

The stuff with Vural was interesting but it should have been cut before Fatma/Kerim.

Fatma made a comment before Muka came back about how she needs to talk to Rami and how would they know if she wanted a divorce, and again it made me wonder why no one says Muka can't get a divorce if Rami doesn't want it the way Fatma apparently couldn't get a divorce unless Kerim wanted it..

Thank you again Dondi! I appreciate you so much.

Outstanding job with the recap, VVS. Two hours is hard to recap, especially an eventful ep such as this. Great detail, great snark. Loved this one: "Azat (who has been remarkably calm) reverts back to his old ways, pulls his gun and fires a shot into the air (luckily, no 5-year-old children are nearby).”

Miran and Hazar tried working together once before when Rey was kidnapped. Stupid Miran wants to keep their cooperation a secret from Reyyan. And the idiot is still thinking Hazar killed his parents! Miran has learned nothing. Thank goodness Hazar thought twice about it.

Yeah, how ‘bout those looks between Harun and Sultana? Maybe she knows from the manicomio that Harun is in with the note maker? Maybe she knows who and where her son is?
How I wished Handan was banished from the konak. I raise my hand in favor of sending her back to daddy.

No words for how Azize, even with the threat of Elif killing herself, is not willing to give up the venganza. I agree Elif needs professional help. What will stop her from trying suicide again if the revenge continues? If Azat doesn’t fall in love with her? How heartbreaking, I hate the thought. Well, then carmella will likely get Azat & Gonul.

I think Dilsah is alive. I thought that Azize could be hiding her someplace (maybe in that manicomio) but could Nasuh be the one hiding her and he’s afraid Hazar will find out?

I hear you, Darcy! I couldn’t believe they cut something so important and kept the Yasaran garbage!

If you want to see the cut scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2n-a2YFnLB4 it is in Turkish with no subtitles. But it’s in the recap.

Regarding Kerim’s love declaration: I think it’s one thing to overhear or hear second hand. Fatma could ignore that and bury her feelings. But to have someone stand before you, look you in the eyes (and he has beautiful eyes) and declare, “I love you. So much.”, can’t be ignored. He stood in her way and kept repeating it, too. Those words and feelings are especially explosive for them.

That she runs to Kerim, once again, is telling. Her jealousy is telling. On point, Darcy: “And she fears what she feels because she thinks what he really feels is just guilt and pity”. She says she wishes she could trust someone. She can’t even trust her own feelings.

About the love at first sight thing, I can agree. I take it as an “attraction” at first sight. It could become true love, or it could die out. Very insightful to note it makes what Kerim did that night seem so much worse. Another reason to feel guilty. What obstacles for Fatma and Kerim to overcome.

I think we all hate Muka. We might have a better understanding of her now, but my pity for her is fleeting. Muka could file for divorce, it could be contested, and she could lose custody of Murat. Too bad Rahmi wants her to stick around. One can only hope they do right by Murat. Poor kid.

Thanks dond356! As you are the expert in 2-hour recaps (twice on Friday!) I appreciate the props!

I did consider that Nasuh had Dilsah hidden away somewhere in the hope that Hazar never finds out anything. I don’t think he realizes that Miran is Hazar’s son, at least we haven’t seen any flash back to that revelation. He at least seems a bit remorseful, unlike Azize. These two have ruined their families that they claim to love with all their dirty secrets.

I am really afraid that Elif is not going to be happy or live long.

According to the articles coming across my news feed in the last couple days Passion de Gavilanes 2 is going to start in Feb 2022! Is anyone else as excited as I am? I loved this novela. It is the first I ever watched and I have watched it several times since. I can not wait to see where they take the story 17 years later!

OT

Hi Darcy. I am pretty new to novela and now dizi watching, so if you are excited about Passion de Gavilanes 2, I will be as well! It is always fun to watch something new with those of you who have already seen it or at least have a good understanding of what is going on. Thanks for the heads up!

Such a fine recap, VVS! You not only needed a break from all the emotions but may have needed to flex and unflex your typing fingers! I really appreciate everything you put into the recap, along with very good snark.

I'm starting to be over the "no sex" for ReyMir trope. In Mexican novelas I've seen the heroine be afraid of sex because of having been raped by a villain (Fuego en la Sangre AND IRRC La Manantiel). From what we saw of her first time, at the cabin, it was full of tenderness. She's so madly in love with him and is still holding out? Is this a normal thing in Turkish dizis?

The "dream" kind of made Viewerville think maybe Nasuh killed both Dilsuh and Mehmet.

Wasn't that the first time it's been mentioned that Hazar was not in love with Zehra when he married her? Of course the love he had for Dilsuh represents a norm in both TNs and dizis, I believe. There's only one big love in the characters' lives. Did this remark mean that he only married her to save her from the shame of having a child with no father? Was she married to Reyyan's father and then he died...or never married at all?

I will be interested in Gonul's plan. I almost expected her to laugh in Azize's face about telling her about her brother if she votes the HAG into some controlling interest in the businesses. Gonul reminds me of Charlie Brown and the football.

OT

I am not excited about Pasión de Gavilanes 2 for two reasons. I suspect they are burning off Hercai to get to it. I thought the original was "meh". I did watch it.

And Mario Cimarro is one of my least favorite galanes. He's definitely good looking but his acting can best be described as wooden. He never convinces me of his deep love for any heroine he's acted with. And he's one of those handsome guys who seems like he's always looking for a mirror during a love scene so he can catch a glimpse of his own face.

Fatmagul

Dear Dondi, wowee wow wow ... thank you so much for an excellent recap of an emotional episode . The words that these writers give the actors are powerful and riveting .

Fatmagul is trying so hard to push Kerim away to protect herself and her heart , but she is slowly realizing through his words and deeds that he is a good man ...and now he has openly declared to her that he truly is in love with her and is filled with guilt, shame, and regret for his part in that awful night . As you watch , you can feel the torture that both fatmagul and kerim are going through in the midst of this new mess that Muka has hurled them into. Fatma has observed that Kerim has been caring and supportive of Rami in the same way that he has tried to protect and care for her despite her resistence .

Hercai

Novelera, I think the no sex thing is indeed a Turkish dizi thing . I watched " La Hija " , and the leading couple had a child , but when she returned to him , I don't think they ever had sex ....and then the show was put on hold. We are waiting for the second season . Dondi is the dizi expert. " Kara Para Ask" seemed more modern , and that couple did get busy before they married .

Rey is so gorgeous , but she acts so shy and coy , and Mir seems content to just tuck her into the sheets and cuddle . He must be taking a lot of cold showers .

herc

Thank you novelera for the great comments and questions. I find the no sex thing with ReyMir very interesting and wonder, like other have, if it is not to bring light on to the subject of incest. I agree that Reyyan seemed to enjoy her noche de bodas. Guess we will have to wait and see how both their parentage reveal is played out.

I vaguely remember a conversation that Hazar and Zehra had about how he rescued her after Reyyan’s baby daddy abandoned her and they learned to love each other over the years. My guess is that Reyyan’s father, like Dilsah will be a factor down the road.

Gonul is the Charlie Brown of the dizi, very funny. 😊

OT

Novelera, I agree with you about Mario Cimarro, actually. But Juan and Norma were the least interesting pairing in that show. IMO. I love Michel Brown though and he and Natasha Klauss had great chemistry in the first one.

Speak Sharia divorce formula [3x's Proclamations] Infront of witnesses /Ummah community...it's a wrap. that's why we got a repeat echo/reverberation. Even Handan had to go to pause....2/two more times.... and it's 'Candyman'

Handan..if Azat goes into the military..what you gonna do.??. go to basic training with him... carry his rifle. Sleep on base..WTF!!. let -the-man -be- a -man!!

Yes.. good point abt how the HAG said nothing to stop Elif...!!

Alls -well...until...AZat gets his wife back home and Elif drops the bomb on Handan...she clocked Handan and that Side-eye Elif gave her was awesome...

Dad Cihan had to 'Book' / then had to book a room before he lost control and dragged that itch-bay .... Handan is 'off- the- chain'....

Hanife.. you haven't told either party abt Harun. Good for you!!

Reyyan a cold bath really// straight to pneumonia

Fatmagul

Wonderful recap, dondi356, thank you. Very eventful day for Fatmagul's family and a turning point for Fatmagul, I think.

"Meryem fills the soup plates. Fatma puts Kerim’s down on the table!" - Fatmagul placed the third plate on the corner of the table, a little ambiguous, reflecting her feelings about Kerim.

When Kerim asked if she was upset because of Kristen's call it was like poking a beehive. Poor Kerim couldn't run away from the room fast enough! :) The case of protesting too much.

I had the same feelings about the cut scene, Darcy. Really! The reaction of the main character to the declaration of love! This is what they choose to cut?! Boo!!! Thanks dondi for filling the gaps.

Both Kerim and Fatmagul released and shared what they were feeling. That was a breakthrough.

VVS

I am late to the party, but thank you so much for a great recap with every detail of two interesting episodes . I forgot that Hercai was starting at 8 and missed the first hour. Those flashback dreams were interesting .

HALIMACANDY and Susanlynn, that you for the comments.

HALIMACANDY good point about the lack of bridesmaids or body guards for Elif! She should not have been getting ready alone! Interesting information about the “Sharia divorce formula [3x's Proclamations]” If Handan heard it one more time it would have been like Beetlejuice!

Susanlynn, those flashback dreams are definitely giving some insight into what happened that night.

Fatmagul #26 part 1

The very beginning of the ep didn’t make it on to my recording. But in the Turkish, Fatma comes back into the kitchen. She’s sobbing loudly. Meryem comes out and Fatma says, abla, I want to be cured. Meryem is happy to hear this. Fatma leans into her for a hug, take me to a doctor, she says. Meryem tells her, you will recover, you will begin to recover. If you want, you can do it. How brave you are. Kerim can see them from his window.

In the morning, Muka wakes before Rahmi. She looks at her bruised face in the mirror. She runs into Fatma outside the bathroom. Fatma asks, how is your face? What do you mean, Muka says, ah, it’s nothing. Muka lies, I slipped on the stairs at the hotel and hit my face on the railing. [alrighty, then…]

Fatma goes to the kitchen to make tea. She sees Kerim come out of the shed and drops something out of nerves. He sees her and hesitates before entering the house. Awkward good morning. He asks if she is going to work today. She nods. I can take you if you want, he says. She says nothing.

Murat comes in and asks for his mother. She’s in the bathroom, Fatma replies. Murat leaves without saying good morning to Kerim. Kerim notes Murat must be in a bad mood today. He asks Fatma if she needs anything, he’ll go buy it. Bread, she says. A newspaper, he asks? Does Murat have milk?

Meryem enters the house. She’s in a great mood. Fatma thought she was still sleeping. No, Meryem woke early and went to buy bread and she got a newspaper, too. And her neck is better, the brace is off. Kerim sits at the table and reads the newspaper. Meryem quietly mentions to Fatma that she found a doctor and she will call her after breakfast. Kerim listens.

Kerim sees an article: “Bloody Ambush”, and there is a picture of Asu. Her eyes are blocked out, but Kerim knows it’s her. Meryem notices Kerim’s face and asks what he read. He shows them the article. Man stabbed while driving. Asude, the girlfriend of the wounded man, MN, testifies. MN, Mustafa Nalcali, Fatma says.

We see Asu reading the same article in the hospital cafeteria. She rips her pic out of the paper. Sami calls her and she shuts her phone. Emin gives her a dirty look as he enters the café. He goes over to her and asks her if she wants something to eat. No thanks. He tells her to go home, don’t wait here. She asks how Mustafa is doing. He’s better, Emin says, but don’t go up there. His mother is sick, and you will make her worse. Stop following Mustafa and get out of our lives. Asu leaves.

Halide is feeding her baby boy. [I can’t stand these two.] Mustafa asks for his phone. Halide says it’s not charged. He wants to find a charger. She makes a crack, could it be in that girl’s house.

As soon as Asu leaves the hospital she’s grabbed by two guys, and they stuff her in a car. Emin sees from the window. We also see Ismail lurking outside with flowers.

The rest of the family is in the living room reading the article about Mustafa. Kerim comes in and tells Fatma let’s go, you’ll be late. Fatma gets in the front seat with Kerim but they both look uncomfortable. Kerim tells Fatma if she wants to go to the hospital, he will take her. Fatma doesn’t want to go.

Kerim asks for clarification, do you mean you don’t want me to take you? Fatma clarifies, I don’t want to go to the hospital. [Was that Kerim’s tiny smile I noticed?] Kerim says that is a relief because those others could be there. But we could go and ask how he is, he adds. Only if you want. Fatma shakes her head no. [so I guess she passes Kerim’s test]

Hilmiye wakes Erdo and tells him she’s going to stay at Perihan’s house while Resat is away. She thinks it’s better to leave Vural and Erdo to themselves.

Fatmagul #26 part 2

Kerim drops Fatma off and wishes her a good day at work. She returns the sentiment. He asks if she wants him to pick her up. No, she’s getting paid today and wants to do some shopping after work.

Ismail is visiting Mustafa. He’s so happy that Mustafa is doing well [Not!] Mustafa is anxious to get back to work. Ismail says the work will wait, recover first. Erdo calls Ismail. Give my best to Mustafa and call me when you leave there.

Selim shows up at Erdo’s. He goes in and checks on sleeping Vural. Vural wakes when he hears the door close. Selim enters Erdo’s room. He overhears his convo with Ismail. Where did they bring the girl? Erdo is worried that Ismail will draw attention. Ismail reassures him. She left the hospital and those guys grabbed her. No on saw me. Erdo leaves his bathroom and sees Selim. Didn’t they teach you to knock? Selim wants to know what’s going on. It’s just a visit to Mustafa, Erdo replies.

Vural gets up and listens at Erdo’s door. Selim accuses Erdo of setting up Mustafa’s stabbing. Selim is pissed, we are trying to save ourselves and you are causing more problems. Erdo shoots back, you said you hoped he died. Yeah, but I didn’t say let’s kill him, Selim replies. Ok, Erdo says, but he’s not dead.

Erdo adds he has something planned for Kerim. Sooner or later Kerim will kill Mustafa. Selim says Erdo is demented. One will go to prison and the other will be dead, Erdo says, we will be free of the two. We will go back to the lives we had before and Kerim will pay for telling Mustafa everything. Selim warns Erdo not to get him involved in this.

Vural goes back to his room, unnoticed. Will he warn Kerim?

Muka makes coffee for Meryem and Rahmi. She asks Meryem what she is doing. Meryem tells her that Fatma accepted to see a psychologist. Meryem is reading the recommendations. Muka sounds worried. She asks if Fatma is going to go and tell everything. Meryem doesn’t know but it will be good for Fatma to get out what she’s keeping in. Muka is worried Fatma will talk about her. Meryem shows her displeasure and says, it’s up to Fatma.

Muka listens in as Meryem makes the appointment for Fatma on April 14 at 3pm.

Fatma has a couple of flashbacks to Kerim’s declaration of love. Her coworkers notice she’s lost in a daydream.

Emre shows up at Kerim’s workplace. He has the newspaper article. Kerim says he saw it. Fatma saw it. Everyone saw it. Kerim asks Emre if he has Asu’s number. Emre says he has her old number, not her new one.

Mustafa’s has his phone working again and he leaves a message for Asu. Where are you? Call me. He closes the call before his mother comes into the room.

Erdo goes to get Vural up for breakfast and finds he is gone. We see Vural driving. He closes his phone when Erdo calls with Selim’s. They worry he’s going to look for Munir. They call Munir. Munir tells them he’s in Antalya. Erdo calls Munir a chicken.
Fatma’s coworkers notice she is different today. She’s glowing. [Is it because of payday? Is it Kerim? Is it because she decided to get help?] Erol gives her the pay envelope . She’s thrilled.

Kerim notices his reflection. He touches his hair and rubs his beard. He calls Fatma with a suggestion. What about going out for dinner, as a family… all of us….at the kebab place…. She asks why. Uh… you are getting paid today and there’s the situation with Mukaddes and Murat wanted to go there last week, he says. Fatma sounds hesitant. Kerim says don’t worry, I won’t make you pay the check. Ha, ha. She agrees to go. He will make the reservation and they can all meet at the house and leave from there. Kerim tells his coworkers he’s going to the barber and coming right back.

Kerim gets a call from Vural. He doesn’t take it. Vural sends a text: we have to talk. It’s very important.

Fatmagul #26 part 3

Muka gets a call from Salih. Rahmi is outside and sees Muka through the window taking her phone. He heads to the house. Muka goes to her bedroom and answers, how dare you call me? Have you no shame? Salih asks her to listen to him. She rips into him, rot in hell.

Salih tells her he was coming to ask for forgiveness, but she left with her husband. Muka calls him a liar. Salih explains he wanted to apologize for hitting her, not to start a new life together. Rahmi barges into the room and grabs the phone from Muka. I am Mukaddes’ husband! Understand? I am Murat’s father! is that clear?

Salih hangs up. He doesn’t get to hear Rahmi say stay away from my family. If you hit my wife again, I’ll tear you apart! You will not get out alive next time! Coward! ¡Poco hombre! Rahmi asks Muka why she was talking to him. He called, she says. He tells her to delete his phone number immediately. Muka complies. [Wow, Rahmi!!]

Fatma buys a gold coin. [the kind of coin you give for celebration, a wedding or other special occasion] The jeweler asks if she wants a ribbon on it. No, she’s just collecting them for now. As she walks she sees a sign for a driving school. She goes in and asks for info on getting a driver’s license.

Kerim meets with Vural in a park. Kerim immediately grabs Vural by the collar. What do you want, you bastard? I told you I never wanted to see any of you again. Vural pushes him off and says, me neither. I can’t even stand to look at myself in the mirror! I have to warn you, he tells Kerim, Erdogan is going to cause problems.

Everyone starts getting ready for dinner. Muka tells Meryem to let down her hair. This dinner is very important. Kerim and Fatma are going out together and they have invited us. It’s special, it’s the first time. Meryem agrees. Muka ruins it by adding, I wouldn’t be surprised if they are going to sleep together tonight.

Vural explains that Mustafa thinks the gun is yours. Well, they made him think the gun is yours. Mustafa thinks you want to kill him. Kerim says he already came face to face with Mustafa when he had a gun in his hand. I wasn’t scared then, why would I be scared now? Because Mustafa is as low as Erdogan and me, Vural replies.

“Erdo said, this gun will fire, it will go off in Kerim’s hand.” Be careful. He won’t just hurt you, he will hurt your family. In the Turkish Vural started to say Fatma’s name then changed it to your family. He apologizes to Kerim. For everything, for all the wrong I did. I promise you this will be the last time you see me. There is no place in this world for me.

Fatma is taking the bus home and what do you know, she passes by the park just in time to see Kerim and Vural shake hands. And Vural gives him a hug. Kerim angrily pushes Vural away, but the bus has passed and Fatma doesn’t see this. She can only imagine the worst.

Kerim tells Vural he’s trying to start a new life. Fatmagul hasn’t forgiven me. I’m her enemy, just like you. He says he wants nothing from Vural. He can protect his family. He can protect Fatmagul. She is the only important thing in my life now, he tells Vural, stay away from us. You and the Yasarans can rot. Kerim leaves.

Fatma is so deep in thought over what she saw, she doesn’t even realize she’s at the last stop.

Kerim calls Meryem and tells her he’s getting a haircut. Is Fatma home? Not yet. When Muka finds out Kerim is getting a haircut, she says it’s for the big night.

Fatma walks the street in a bit of a daze. She runs into her coworkers and hardly speaks to them. Very different from the earlier happy Fatma.

Fatmagul #26 part 4

Erdo is with Semsi. Semsi calls Vural, who is still sitting in his car, silent, unmoving. Vural answers. Semsi says he left Erdo’s without a word and they are worried. Come home. Yeah, I’ll come back to a happy home, Vural snarks. I’ll come so you can feed your anger or your hatred. Semsi says, I’m not mad and I don’t hate you. This isn’t the end of the world. Vural says it is for him. He’s upset with his mother. His father begs him to come home. We will talk. Vural says ok.

Everyone greets Fatma when she arrives home. She is in a subdued mood. Meryem tells Fatma she made her doctor’s appointment. Fatma starts to cry and gives Meryem a hug. Then she hurries into the bathroom to cry some more. Fatma washes her face and almost takes off her wedding ring.

Kerim’s haircut is done but it looks the same as when he went in.

Mustafa is walking in the hallway with help. His phone rings and Halide goes to answer. It’s Asu, she needs to speak with Mustafa right away. Halide says don’t call again and hangs up on her.

Sami comes into the room and takes the phone and slaps her around and the other girl in there with her, too. Sami screams at Asu to forget Mustafa. She’s putting his life in danger. Don’t piss off Bilal. Sami says they are going to Adana. You will forget about Mustafa.

Mustafa comes back and looks at his phone. Halide begs him not to call that girl. He calls but the number isn’t in service. What did she say, he asks Halide. Nothing, I hung up the phone, she replies. Mustafa says he has to get out of here. Halide says, leave her, don’t look for her. I beg you.

Mustafa says, I did the same with another girl before. I turned my back on Fatmagul. I’m not going to do the same thing to Asu. I won’t reject her even if she is a prostitute or a murderer. You have to accept her! [bet Fatmagul is looking much better in Halide’s eyes now]

Fatma is ready to go out. She puts her gold away. Muka asks about it. Muka also sees the driver’s license info.

Kerim arrives. Meryem has the chance to speak with Fatma alone. She asks if something bad happened. I’m going to talk, Fatma replies, when it’s time. Kerim tells everyone to wait in the car and he will change his clothes. Muka tells Fatma to lock the back door. She sees Kerim go into the shed.

They drive off and Kerim apologizes for being late. Rahmi notices Kerim’s non haircut. Kerim says that’s not why he was late. He had an emergency. Fatma asks, what happened? Nothing, Kerim lies, it was a delivery. I had to wait.

Fatma takes off her wedding ring and puts it in her bag.

While they make small talk in the car, Fatma makes a sour faces and stays quiet. Kerim notices in the rear-view mirror.

While his parents are out, Mustafa calls Ismail. I need your help, he says. Can you come to the hospital?

Leman is packing and Vural returns home. Semsi gives him a big hug. Erdo asks where were you? I took a walk around, Vural answers.

Erdo gets a call from Ismail and leaves. Ismael tells him he’s going to see Mustafa in the hospital. Erdo hopes it’s about that girl. Erdo asks him if he knows where the girl is. Ismail says he will find out.

The family arrives at the restaurant. Kerim notices Fatma isn’t wearing he ring. He asks. She says she forgot to wear it. Kerim says she had it on this morning. Fatma says she left it in the house, that’s all. Kerim orders for the table. Then more small talk. Meryem asks Kerim how his day was. I was in the workshop [notice Fatma’s eyes and crooked mouth] We left nothing much for work tomorrow.

Kerim asks Fatma if she got paid. Yes. Muka mentions the gold coin and about Fatma learning to drive. Kerim says he can help her with that. She looks daggers at him. What happened, he whispers to her. She gives him a sharp, nothing.

Fatmagul #26 part 5

Resat calls Perihan to check in and he bitches about Munir’s affair with Leman. Perihan reminds him that he’s not innocent either when it comes to cheating. Pot, kettle, black. That’s enough.

Semsi tells Vural he will let him go on a trip. Maybe then he will feel better. Semsi wants to know where he will go and who he will be with. Vural gets up and tells his father he loves him very much and gives him a big hug. Semsi asks, you’re going with out a suitcase? Oh, yeah, right… Vural gets a suitcase. Semsi tells Vural he is the only thing important to him.

Back to the kebab place. Everyone is having a good time, except for Fatma and Kerim is getting worried. He asks, tell me what happened? Something at work? Nothing, she says. Then why are you like this? We’ll talk, she tells him.

Murat talks about celebrating his birthday. His is August 8, Muka says he is a Leo. Muka asks Kerim, what is your sign? Meryem answers, it’s Aries. Kerim’s birthday is April 14 [the same day as Fatma’s appointment]. It’s coming soon. Muka says Fatma should make a cake for her husband. Kerim says he doesn’t celebrate his birthday. Muka says this year he should, or you (Fatma and Kerim) can celebrate by yourselves.

Kerim’s phone rings. It’s Kristen. He shuts it and says he won’t answer now. Fatma says, answer it. Are you hiding something from us? No, Kerim says and takes the call.

The complete convo from the Turkish (it's in English):

Ke: Hi Kristen. Did you come? Kr: Yes, I just got in. I’m in my hotel room now. Ke: welcome. Kr: where are you? When can I see you? Ke: when are you starting work? Kr: actually, we are beginning tomorrow. Why don’t you come and take a look? Ke: of course, sure. Talk to you later. You’ll call me. See you tomorrow, bye.

Muka leans over to Fatma, you should take an English course instead of driving. Set your priorities. Fatma’s face is stone cold. She gets up and leaves the table to go to the bathroom.

Muka asks what did Kristen say? Nothing, she’s here, Kerim replies, I’ll go see her tomorrow. He asks where Fatma went.

Vural and Leman have bags packed and leave at the same time. Leman tells Vural to stay, she’s the one going. I know how upset you are and how much you suffer. Ah, at least you know, he replies. I’m not going to defend myself, Leman says. I don’t have excuses. I was wrong and I’m paying the price. Blah, blah, blah, she leaves. [I’ve had enough of Leman, too]

dondi356

Fatmagul #26 part 6

Vural can’t forgive his mother. Semsi tells his son not to go. They can find a solution. Everything will be fine.

Meryem finds Fatma in the bathroom. Are you ok, she asks? Yes. Then why is your beautiful face so sad? Fatma says she wants to go home. They go back to the table.

Muka starts in about Kristen again. She tells Fatma she should go and meet her tomorrow. Fatma objects to going. Kerim thinks she should go with him. Fatma says she has to work. Meryem tells Kerim to ask for the check so they can leave.

Ismail meets with Mustafa. Ismail says he had no idea this was so serious. How do you know that she is with these men? I told you, she disappeared, Mustafa replies. She isn’t the kind of person that would abandon me. Something happened. Please help me, Mustafa asks. I can’t imagine what they could do to her, you know what they did to me. I’m sure she’s in danger.

Ismail replies, these guys are criminals. Mustafa practically begs for Ismail’s help. He asks Ismail not to tell Resat any of this. Ismail says, what could I do? But Erdogan Yasaran could. Mustafa doesn’t want him to know either.

Ismail says you’re asking me for help, but you don’t like my solution. You still don’t know how powerful Erdogan Yasaran is. I don’t know what happened between you, but Erdogan is the type of person who will never let you down. Listen, if you want to save the girl, you have to ask him for help. It’s the only way.

And we are out.

Hercai2: #19 - p 1 of 3
As the episode starts, we again see Gonul tell Azize over the phone, "Perhaps I'll go [to the board meeting], perhaps I won't." Azize reminds her that they had an agreement. Gonul hangs up and then says to herself, "I love my brother, but I also want to see you [Azize] suffer."

Miran is talking with Elif and Azat. As usual, Miran and Azat distrust each other and exchange barbs. Miran seems to me more unreasonable. Finally, however, he tells Elif that if she is unhappy, she should speak to her husband. If he doesn't listen, she should come to Miran. Azat and Miran then talk briefly. They both agree that Elif is fragile. Miran says "if it doesn't work out,..." Azat replies that he wants the marriage to work, and the only way to know whether it will is to try. "I want her to trust me as her husband."

The Sadoglu men who are members of the board--Nasuh, Hazar, Cihan, and Azat--are discussing the upcoming board meeting, where Azize and Azat are the two candidates for President of the Board. The Sadoglu men are unhappy that the vote may end in a tie, in which case Azize will continue as President. They go to the meeting room. It's time to vote. Gonul hasn't yet arrived, and Azize wants to wait. When more time goes by without Gonul appearing, the vote is taken. The four Sadoglu men all vote for Azat, while Firat, Miran, someone named Mohmat, and Azize vote for Azize. It's now Elif's turn. After a long pause, she votes for Azat! It's five votes to four--Azat seems to have won. But then Gonul arrives. She says she wants to talk to Azize privately before casting her vote. When the two of them are alone, Gonul tells Azize that before she votes, she wants Azize to tell her the name of her brother. Azize tells her Firat is her brother. The two return to the meeting room. Gonul says, "Let the record show that my vote is for...[long pause] Azat Sadoglu." Azat is the new Board President. Both Miran and Firat are upset, as, of course, is Azize.

It's St. Valentine's Day. Harun gives a rose to Reyyan. Miran sees this and [surprise, surprise] goes ballistic. He rushes over and growls at Harun, "Stay away from my wife!" He goes on in this vein on for a while. He then tries to take Reyyan and leave. Reyyan shakes him off, apologizes to Harun for Miran's rudeness, and thanks him for the rose.

Azat and Hazar are both surprised and puzzled at Gonul's vote. Gonul thinks to herself, "I knew it. Firat is my brother. This is the beginning of the end, Azize." Azat asks Gonul why she voted for him. She tells him she didn't do it for him, she did it for herself. They then talk about Azat's rescue of Elif from the balcony the night before. Gonul says he didn't really do it out of love for Elif, he did it to save her. Azat says that anyone would have done the same. Gonul replies that Miran would never have done it, he wouldn't even think of it. "I'm not Miran," replies Azat. "I hope not," says Gonul, and then adds, "Perhaps you and Elif can be happy."

Miran and Reyyan argue about Miran's angry response to Harun. FF>>

Miran gets a call. He tells the caller he'll meet him on the road to the monastery in half an hour.

Gonul returns to her room. Sultana comes in. She's surprised that Gonul seems so happy. "You should be unhappy, because Reyyan is back." Gonul triumphantly announces that she has managed to dethrone Azize. "I voted for Azat. Azize Aslanbey is no longer President of the Board." Sultana and Gonul laugh with joy.

herc
Hercai2: #19 - p 2 of 3
Azize confronts Gonul and asks why she voted for Azat after Azize told her who her brother is. Gonul replies, "Someone had to show you how it feels to be hurt by you. I'm your granddaughter--I learned from you." She then strolls off. Once Gonul has left, Azize mentally addresses her: "Stupid! I'll let you believe the lie for a little longer. Then I'll need your services." It looks as if Azize may still remain one step ahead of Gonul.

Miran meets with Hazar on the road to the monastery as arranged. He shows Hazar the mysterious notes Azize has received. Miran says all were addressed to Azize except one, which was addressed to Reyyan. [Is this true? I don't remember any to Reyyan.] Both men are puzzled. However, when Hazar reads the one about the past and the future, he suggests that perhaps they want Miran to examine the past and uncover the truth.

Harun gives a rose to Melike, Hanife, and Handan for Valentine's Day. Suddenly Yaren makes her entrance, all dressed up. Harun's eyes seem about to pop out of his head. He asks Handan's permission to take Yaren to dinner. Handan is delighted. We then see, however, that he has apparently taken Yaren to what looks like an isolated gazebo with icicles hanging down from the roof. He tells her that he likes destroying others' hopes, and that he doesn't fall for others' tricks. He goes on to say that if she wants to please him, she should cook him some kebabs. "I'd rather die first," Yaren replies. But we then see her standing over an outdoor grill where five kebabs are cooking. She is choking from the smoke and wants to go home. She promises him that she will suffocate him in bed with a pillow. He replies "I love how delusional you are."

Gonul asks Firat whether he's angry at her and tells him she won't apologize. Everything happens for a reason. To herself, she says, "When the time is right, I will tell you the truth. You are my brother."

Miran and Reyyan are in an airplane. We don't know where they are going, nor apparently does Reyyan. We then find that they have gone to Istanbul. Miran wants to show Reyyan the sea. She is thrilled. "It's all so beautiful...Like heaven on earth." She remembers when he let her hear the sound of the sea in the seashell, and now she sees the sea. Miran tells her, "Istanbul is like a woman who has suffered a lot but hasn't given up. You're like Istanbul, Reyyan."

At the hotel where Reyyan and Miran are staying, Miran has arranged for what I'm sure is intended as a thrilling expression of love: hundreds of rose petals scattered all throughout the huge suite, dozens of red heart-shaped balloons, etc. "I want today to be unforgettable," Miran tells her. "It's real, like our love." He tells her to get dressed for dinner. She says she'll take a shower and get dressed. He goes to the lobby, but then returns when she's wearing only a large bath towel. She opens a suitcase that he has brought for her. She expects to find a dress, but instead she sees lots of sexy underwear. "Isn't that enough?" he asks? He then shows her a closet where there are several fancy dresses. We then watch the two of them dress and preen. For me, the most appealing part of this scene is an all-too-brief look at a shirtless Miran.

They then go to a large room that has just one table--for them. A waiter comes and hands a menu to Miran, but not to Reyyan. It's not clear why the waiter even bothered with a menu, since Miran says he has already ordered for both of them. Though I may find all this behavior somewhat unattractive and domineering, Reyyan is clearly very happy."Sometimes it scares me to feel this happy," she says. She suggests that they call Elif and Azat. Miran agrees that yes, we should call them, but not now. "Let's have a night for ourselves."

herc
Hercai2: #19 - p 3 of 3
Miran says that now they should make a wish, in honor of Valentine's Day, but this time, they'll tell each other their wish. He says, I wish to have a beautiful daughter like you, and that we raise our daughter together. I'd like to give her the childhood I never had. My wish is to have a child and that you are her mother.

Elif and Azat are also having dinner. She gives him a gift. He opens the box, and I have to confess that I don't know what it is. A pin? A tie-clip? Azat says it's beautiful. He thanks her, but he's very embarrassed because he hadn't thought to get a gift for her. This entire scene shows them as very stiff and awkward with each other.

Gul comes with roses for Nasuh, Hazar, and Yusuf. "Now can you buy me balloons?" she asks Nasuh. She reminds Hazar that he has a wife, and he shouldn't forget to call her. He leaves to do so. Gul then picks up what looks like a wallet that I think Hanife has dropped. It contains a photo, and Gul observes, "I've seen it before. You have it, too, grandpa." She shows it to Nasuh. He asks, "Where did you see this before?" Gul replies, "Where Miran and Reyyan live, in the wardrobe of the woman with dark eyes."
We see a flashback to Gul coming upon a similar photo in Azize's wardrobe while playing hide and seek. Nasuh stares instensely at the photo Gul picked up from the floor.

Simultaneously, Azize is looking at the photo Gul had come upon in her wardrobe. She then has a flashback in which we see a young woman with a bandaged head sitting by a window. Another young woman comes in carrying a tray. The second young woman looks vaguely like a very young Hanife. The woman with the bandaged head is distraught. She says, "Nasuh will come. He has to come. He must be on his way. I know he will come. He won't leave me here." "Don't cry, sister," says the woman carrying the tray. The flashback ends, and Azize says, "You cried so much, Ayse. But you'll be fine. You will see. You got burned inside and out. But his heart will burn in flames too. They will see, they will see."

Miran and Reyyan are dancing slowly to music played by two musicians in the room where the food was served. Reyyan says, "I have a gift for you. She presents him with a box containing cufflinks with Miran's initials, M and A.
Miran also has a gift for Reyyan. He reaches for it in his inside jacket pocket. He finds something that he puts on the table, but it's not what he's looking for. He continues to search and then realizes he must have left it in his other jacket. He leaves to go to his room to find his jacket. Reyyan picks up the item he put on the table. It's his key card. She realizes he won't be able to get into the room without it. She takes it and goes to find Miran. Meanwhile, we see someone in what is probably ReyMir's room. The lights are off, and the person takes out a cell phone. I'm not sure whether he's using it to provide light or to consult instructions, but he seems to searching for something. Miran arrives at his room's door, reaches for his key card, and realizes he left it on the table. He mutters something in frustration. The person inside the room may have heard him. He takes out a pistol as the episode ends.

Fatmagul

Thank you Dondi!! For another fantastic detail filled recap! I so appreciate all your hard work.

So sweet and sad to see Kerim so excited and hopeful with no idea the other shoe is about to drop. First nervously calling and asking her to have dinner with him, quickly including the family to make her more comfortable, then getting a haircut (I agree what haircut) only to have cold stupid reality dash his hopes again...so frustrating.

It's interesting how you noted Fatma passed his test. I didn't see it as him testing her. I saw it as him truly willing to make a sacrifice for her if she needed it. He doesn't want her to go see Mustafa in the hospital but he is sensitive to her feelings and so he offered to take her and was just relieved when she didn't want to go, and probably saw it as a good sign that she didn't want to go. But maybe a test, hmmm...

It's interesting to see how quickly that little seed of trust grew. Fatma didn't immediately go off on him, or refuse to talk to him, or refuse to go to dinner. She is still talking, maybe in one word answers but still talking. Asking him about what happened and giving him a chance to tell her. She didn't take off the ring until he lied about why he was late. Can't wait to see today what happens next. She said we'll talk later so I am sure it's coming. Although this time I can't even say Kerim messed up necessarily because strictly speaking he did lie but who would come home and say 'oh I ran into your rapist today' I mean of course he isn't going to tell her. Although he probably shouldn't have gone to meet Vural at all....and that hug really looks bad. Another element of this story that is complex, he hates Vural for what happened of course, but on the other hand that is one of his life long best friends. That would be a complicated feeling I am sure.

Is Vural getting ready to commit suicide? It sure looks like it...

I will try to add more later I gotta get to work! Lol

Terrific recap Juanita! I am impressed that you are able to craft the longer episode into a succinct, detail filled recap.

The board meeting drama was fun to watch. At first, I believed that Firat really is Gonul’s brother, but Azize gave up that information too quickly. Then when Gonul confronted her to laugh at her lose in the courtyard, Azize’s head talk about keeping Gonul in the lie a bit longer tells me Firat is not the long-lost brother. As novelera said yesterday, Gonul is Charlie Brown and Azize keeps taking away that football.

Harun handing out roses to everyone was fun to watch too. Glad Reyyan tries to maintain some semblance of manners. I didn’t mind the jealous discourse between ReyMir in the car. I think these are the things a normal couple would have gone through in a non-venganza situation.

Regarding the notes, Reyyan did receive one note placed under the door of her bedroom that gave the hometown of Dilsah and that is where ReyMir found Good Grannie.

I really enjoyed the whole Saint Valentine’s Day, Istanbul plan Miran put together. Finally, Reyyan doesn’t just have to listen to a seashell. I especially liked the suitcase full of sexy lingerie. They both looked very handsome and beautiful. This in only the second time we have seen Miran shirtless. There was another shower scene in the Turkish version that was cut sometime back where Miran was the one just wearing a towel.

In reviewing the Turkish episode this morning, during the dinner scene, the waiter did bring a menu just to Miran but he did ask Reyyan if she would like to review it or should he just order for her. She said she was too excited to think of food and he should just order. What Miran had decided on for both of them was what to drink. I loved the wine and wine glasses. I was also touched by Miran’s “wish.” I thought perhaps we might finally get some baby making action, until the last scene. Who is that in their room? What are they looking for and is Miran going to get shot again?

The scene with Elif and Azat was heartbreaking. Clearly, Azat needs a few Cupid tips. I think Elif gave him a keychain.

So more hints that Ayse and Azize are the same person and Nasuh abandoned her after the fire. I am still a bit uncertain about this crockpot theory because Ayse was bandage on her body not face, so how could Nasuh not recognize her?

I really enjoyed the episode and I am grateful for the recap Juanita! Thank you!

Fatmagul

Dear Dondi...wow wow wow. I dont know how you do it. Your recaps capture every action, feeling, and nuance that we see on the screen. I

We feel The anger and betrayal Fatmagul is experiencing after finally letting her guard slip a little with Kerim. Then, we see Kerim finally starting to feel a bit hopeful and excited that he may be gaining her trust only to find a very frosty , angry Fatmagul when he gets home.
Two steps forward , and one step back. I

Darcy, I love that you are loving this show as much as Dondi and I do!

Fatmagul

Dondi...I wondered if there was some significance to Fatma buying the gold coin. I know that in Turkey they are often given s gifts on special occasions . Do people buy them from time to time to save for a future gift ? I just was curious was to the reason the writers included this scene . Was it just another snippet of Turkish tradition?

Darcy, I think the hug Kerim gave Vural was due to Kerim's compassionate heart. At first, he was very clear to Vural that he was angry with him , but then Kerim's manner changed when Vural was pleading with him . His expression changed as he was staring at Vural's face and saw how tormented and lost he truly was. Then, he shook his hand and Vural pulled him into his arms in a reluctant hug. I think Kerim has a very high emotional IQ and sensed what bad shape Vural is now in.

Fatmagul

Dondi,I have discovered details from your recaps that I missed while watching the episodes . I am confused about this gun that keeps getting passed around . Where did it come from originally ?

Erd is at the center of that awful night , and he keeps wanting to be the puppetmaster of everyone who was involved. For some reason, he just can not let sleeping dogs lie . He seems obsessed with both Fatmagul and Kerim. Perhaps he finds them fascinating because they are polar opposites of him and his family .

Barack

Juanita, thank you for another great recap as our story moves forward.

My theory about Miran's jealousy and rage at Harun is that the writers are slowly easing the conflict between Miran and Azat as Azat moves away from his love for Reyyan and towards attempting to love and protect Elif . Miran and Azat both want to protect fragile Elif. The writers also have Miran less crazed about Hazer because he is less convinced that Azz good to the truth about Hazer killing his parents . Therefore, Moran needs a new nemesis to display his manly fury at . Plus, Miran may be sensing that there is something not right about Harun. Did Firat tell Miran that he saw Harun manhandling Yaren ?

Fatmagul

Love reading the comments, thanks so much!

Darcy, maybe calling it a “test” was a bit snarky? Remember that Mustafa was there before Kerim. In the beginning, Fatma made a point of saying she took the deal to save Mustafa. Even though that rat wanted to kill her, she wanted to protect him from either being killed or becoming a killer. She still had hope to be reunited with him. This was very upsetting for Kerim.

And speaking of hope, that’s all Kerim wants with Fatma, no matter how small. He was hopeful when she dropped the bandana in the water, only to hear her say it wasn’t so much a rejection of Mustafa—she was casting off a reminder of that traumatic night. That’s why I said Kerim was “testing”. He wanted to see if Fatma still has any feelings for Mustafa. It was subtle, but he looked relieved/pleased when she said she didn’t care. More hope for Kerim.

I’ll give Kerim a pass on the Vural stuff, too. He planned something nice to celebrate Fatma’s first paycheck, to bring the family together in a non-threatening environment. So, to run home and announce to everyone, “I met with Vural and he warned me that Erdogan is planning destroy us” was off the table for the time being. Unfortunately, Fatma saw. We will see what happens.

Susanlynn, yes, Kerim’s demeanor changed as Vural spoke. And Vural pulled Kerim into that hug off of the handshake, but Kerim did not reciprocate. His hands stayed at his side. Then he quickly pushed Vural away. And again, unfortunately, Fatma just saw the hug.
Things don’t look good for Vural.

Yes, the gold coins are given for special occasions. I guess Fatma’s first paycheck was special to her. I had the idea she would keep buying them with her own money.

That gun: IIRC, Ismail ordered a beatdown for Mustafa outside of his hotel. The thugs said they were relatives of Kerim and warned him to stay away from Fatma and Kerim. In the struggle, Mustafa took a gun from one of them. This sent the Yasarans into a panic.

Erdo does seem obsessed with Fatma and Kerim. Ok, I get he’s angry with Kerim because he told Mustafa the truth and he worries about being turned in. But the obsession with Fatma is a sick one.

Thank you, Juanita! You captured all the important stuff.

Please let ReyMir stay in Istanbul for a while longer. Reyyan will have to exchange those cufflinks at some point.

If only Miran would keep his shirt off and his mouth shut all the time…

That board room scene was great! Azize definitely lied about Firat. I did suspect he was the missing son for a while, but since we have the note maker and Harun, I’ve shifted my opinion.

Did Gonul and Azat talk again last night? The writers seem to be pushing them together. Doesn’t bode well for Elif.

I really enjoy Yaren – Harun scenes.

I’m going to stick with Azize being Ayse for now, but yeah, her face wasn’t burned. Why didn’t Nasuh come back for her? Did his rotten mother tell him she died and he believed her?

I see there was discussion about the lack of sexual activities in this show and dizis in general. I’m far from being a dizi expert, but I’ve seen my share. Generally speaking, they are more conservative than the Latino TNs we are used to. Lighter on the sex, heavier on the romance. Sometimes that fits in with the story line, like in Fatmagul.

In recent years, censorship has become stricter. Productions are fined for crossing a line of decency, what ever that may be. So less passionate kissing, few if any “unclothed” scenes in bed. If you watch dizis from several years ago, like KPA, you can see the difference. Still, I can’t find a good reason for Reyyan to hold out for so long.

MANY thanks, VVS, Susanlynn, and dondi356, for your wonderfully insightful comments.

VVS, I had intended to just offer bulletpoints, but I found that I could provide a fuller--though less detailed and highly selective--recap of the 2-hour episode. Whether that will continue to be true remains to be seen. And thanks VERY much for reminding me about the note for Reyyan that led to their finding Good Grannie Sukran. As I think was pretty obvious from the recap, I was pretty fed up with Miran last night. His absurd response to Harun startetd me off, and it colored how I viewed almost everything he did after that. He's supposed to be a 30-year-old man, not a teenage boy. I too kept wondering again whether Ayse and Azize were the same person, and if not, could Ayse nonetheless still be alive? As for why Nasuh wouldn't recognize her if she is Azize, a few days ago I saw several current photos of someone I went to college with. Never would I have recognized him now.

Susanlynn, I like your theory about the writers making Miran respond less violently to Azat and Hazar. That certainly seems to be the case. But I don't think he needs to find a new target for his absurd, juvenile, uncontrolled rage. If the love of my life kept acting that way to every man who looked at me, I'd find a new love, or none at all, rather than stay with an embarrassing and potentially dangerous time bomb. He tells Reyyan he'd like to have a daughter. I hate to think about how he'd behave toward the boys she dates.

dondi356, I LOVED your "If only Miran would keep his shirt off and his mouth shut all the time…" YES!! I wish I'd thought of that for my recap! As far as I can recall, Azat and Gonul spoke only once, in the conversation that started when he asked why she voted for him. And what are your current thoughts about the note maker and Harun? The other day I found myself wondering whether Harun could possibly be Gonul's brother. He has her coloring and her mother's I'm-not-sure-what-to-call-it. And he did take note of Gonul when they met an episode or so ago.

herc

Thanks SO much, Juanita for the excellent recap! You did a wonderful job of condensing two hours into a cogent description of all that happened.

I found the whole Istanbul part of the episode too Me-Ran. Everything was too over the top for me. I'd have preferred them dining in a restaurant with other people. The huge room with only them and a string quartet felt cheesy to me. And his having a closet full of evening gowns and a suitcase full of sexy undies waiting in the hotel just looked like rich-people porn to me. And he was just preening and sticking his chest out the whole time over what a fantastic guy he was for arranging the whole extravaganza.

Dondi, loved the idea of Miran keeping his shirt off and his mouth shut!

Yes, Harun is a sketchy guy, but Reyyan is right that he's about to become part of her family. In that sense, he has every right to give her a rose for Valentine's Day. Miran is a nutcase.

Elif getting a vote surprised me. But I suppose this very confusing company has Azize's grandchildren as board members. So why don't the Sadoglu have Yaren and Reyyan in the same roles?

And I also believe Firat is now off the list of candidates as Sultana's missing son. Harun?

Gonul and Azat's conversation was interesting. Of course there was the obvious part about Miran wouldn't have sworn to try to love someone to save them. He didn't do that for her. But she also alluded to Azat's having some sort of overdeveloped altruistic side.

I still can't wrap my head around Azize being Ayse. The "sister" did resemble Hanife. I can't remember the exact wording, but I don't think "Hanife" addressed the person with the bandaged head as either Ayse or Azize. Nasuh definitely thinks Ayse is dead. He seems to know and hate Azize. The person with the bandaged head believed that Nasuh loved her and was anguished he hadn't come for her. This is definitely a head scratcher.

Juanita ..Excellent recap.. 'Props'all-the-way..!!

YES... BUT I THOUGTH GONUL found Firat's birth cert. sometime much earlier in HAG's HopeChest /Truck thing...? Firat is some body's child..not Esma's...

Yes.. the meeting. Watching Gonul savoring that 2nd cup of coffee was a treat!!

But when Gonul pulled a 'Dope fiend -move'.. I thought the HAG's eyes were going to-Pop-Out-of-her-head!! Priceless!. What gets me is how Gonul has-more-eggs-than the men ..Firat and Miran,WTF!! what a pair of wussies...

Yes .. Sick of watching Moron/Miran CHARGED LIKE A BULL. the camera angle really expressed his mania..I am sick of it...However, Harun the potential 'rap--t..is dangerous... Maybe Moron has good instinct, but he is a RAGING BULL...!! SICK OF HIM...

That little girl is an imp. she talks too much and at the wrong times...! but Nasuh sees which sister??

Hanife still has not 'drop-a-dime' on Harun... the photo..wha????!!

One last thought about shirtless Miran. I have a limited sample size, but it seems to me that men in the Turkish novelas have normal bodies. The ones in the Mexican/made in Miami by Telemundo ones feature guys who spend 3 hours a day in the gym. And their chests are frequently hairless, making them look even more like bodybuilder contestants instead of actors.

Nett, I'm sorry to hear about your schedule change. Is it permanent or just for this week? Either way, would it be possible for you to simply post some important bulletpoints? That should take considerably less time than a recap and provide a jumping off point for comments. If that too is not possible, post a message here to let everyone know. People will then be free to post comments, rather than waiting for the recap.

Many thanks, novelera and Halimacandy, for your terrific comments.

Novelera, you and I are very much on the same wave length about this episode. Like you, I found the Istanbul part of the episode Miran-dominated and excessive. As for the interesting discussion between Gonul and Azat, yes, Gonul did allude to Azat's having an overdeveloped altruistic side. That's a wonderfully succinct, accurate description of what she said. I wish a phrase like that had occurred to me! And yes, the Ayse/Azize issue is definitely a head scratcher! IIRC, Azize talks about Ayse in the present tense. That suggests to me that either she is Ayse or Ayse is someone else but perhaps still alive.

Halimacandy, "RAGING BULL" is a great description of Miran, and not just in this episode. And I love your idea that his rages may result from his sexual frustration!

Fatmagul #27 part 1

Erdo checks “the gun” in his super-secret hiding place. He’s almost busted by his mom.

The family arrives home from dinner. Everyone enjoyed it and they thank Kerim, except for Fatma, who continues to stew. Kerim takes note. Muka adds to the tension by mentioning Kerim working with Kristen and making more money. As they head to the house, Muka asks Fatma if she’s coming. No, she answers, we (her and Kerim) are going to talk. Both head to the back of the house.

Kerim asks if he did something wrong. Why are you upset? I’m listening, she replies. And Kerim asks, what do you want me to say? You don’t have anything to tell me, she says. Like what? Like what you are hiding, she says. What I’m hiding? I’m not hiding anything, he tells her, I spoke to Kristen in front of you.

Fatma shouts, I don’t care about Kristen! What were you doing with “him”! Tell me! Kerim is shocked. Fatma says, don’t deny it! What are you talking about, Kerim asks? Fatma continues, don’t try to fool me! I saw you with one of those animals. You’re still seeing them.

Kerim tells her it’s not what she’s thinking. You want me to believe your lies, she shouts. Kerim says he (Vural) wanted to speak with him. Fatma says, I waited all night for you to tell me, but you continued to lie. Kerim asks her to listen. Why should I listen, she asks. What do you want from me? Why do you want me to believe you? Why do you continue to lie to me? Why?

Muka hears them fighting in the yard and calls Meryem to come.

Fatma keeps shouting at Kerim. They came here and beat you. Was that all part of your dirty plan? Kerim says she’s not listening to him. Vural warned me of a plan against me, he says. Fatma yells, shut up! I don’t want to hear that animal’s name!

The others are outside now. Muka says to lower their voices. Kerim tries to explain again. Fatma doesn’t want to hear it. I saw you hugging! Meryem is shocked at what Kerim has done. He says she won’t let me explain. Fatma screams, there’s nothing to explain! You never left them! You are still the same! You are one of them! You never would have taken his hand if you regretted what you did. You want me to trust you after this and ask me to love you like nothing happened?

Kerim tries again to get Fatma to listen. No way. You told me you loved me to fool me! You made yourself a victim just to make yourself feel better! But I will never forgive you! She takes the ring and throws it at his feet. Get out of my life! Kerim picks up the ring.

Fatma turns to the rest of them. I don’t want anyone to tell me what to do ever again! I don’t want anyone’s advice! You tried to convince me he was a good man, but he is no different than the others. Everyone found a way to step on me. Fatma storms off, still shouting.

The others are in shock. Rahmi asks if is true he met with those bad guys. What good does it do to explain, Kerim replies. I saw him, he starts, then stops. He shouts Allah kahretsin! and walks away.

In the house, Rahmi tries to comfort Fatma. I saw them, she says, they were talking. They shook hands. I expected an explanation. I waited all night, but he said nothing. Why didn’t he tell me the truth? Meanwhile, I was trying to trust him. Rahmi says, you told him some ugly things in front of everyone. Wasn’t I right, Fatma asks?

Muka says Fatma was right. [she should talk. Keep your mouth shut] They are our enemies. And he told Mustafa the truth, too. Rahmi tells Muka to stop. Muka asks Fatma, he told you he loves you? Rahmi asks Muka again to keep quiet.

dondi356

Fatmagul #27 part 2

Meryem is with Kerim in the shed. He calls himself an idiot. Why did I do it? Why did I have to speak with him? He explains that he wasn’t going to take Vural’s call but then he texted saying it was very important. He told me that Erdo was planning to harm me, he tells Meryem, he just wanted to warn me.

Meryem tells him he messed up big time. Fatma is right. Kerim says, but she wouldn’t listen. Why should she, Meryem replies. She lost all trust in you. It doesn’t matter what you said. This poor girl is trying to get better. Look what you’ve done. You’ve set her back. You ruined it. You didn’t keep your promise and dared to see them again. How can she trust you? Meryem shouts, how could you have done something so stupid!

Kerim grabs his coat and takes off with Meryem chasing him and shouting, where are you going. Kerim gets in the truck. He sees Fatma at the window and drives off.

Meryem goes in the house. She doesn’t know what to say. She is shocked too. She tells Fatma she never expected this from Kerim. He tried to explain. He said Vural asked to meet. Fatma tells Meryem she doesn’t want to hear another word. Meryem worries that Fatma will give up on what she has started just because she is mad at Kerim.

Fatma assures her she won’t give up. She’s doing this for herself. I want to rid myself of the shadows on top of me, Fatma says. I want to live my life without having to depend on another person. Meryem is happy to hear it. Fatma admits it will be difficult. [Turkish] But if I give up, it will be like letting those lowlifes win. Meryem says she will always support Fatma. [Muka doesn’t look to happy about that little bonding session]

Vural leaves his house. Kerim calls him. You ruined everything, Vural, you ruined it all. You ruined my life. I was trying to move forward, but you didn’t leave me alone. Vural asks him what happened. Fatmagul saw us, Kerim replies. Everything broke into pieces. She was going to believe me. But it all vanished because of you. It’s your fault. We were going to have a good life, but no… you ruined her life again.

Vural says he only wanted to help. Kerim yells, what kind of help?! I lost again because of you. This is the last time, I never want to see you again! Kerim warns, if you ever cross my path again, you will see a different Kerim. [Turkish] If that happens, I won’t let any of you live. Tell that to the Yasaran scum, too. This is my final warning, I have nothing left to lose.

When they are alone, Fatma tells Meryem, you are different than the others. Please don’t be upset by what I said. It’s not against you. You are special to me. You are so important to me. You’ve always been by my side and I know you are upset. I know how much you’ve tried to help me but I think I offended you tonight. No, Meryem says.

Fatma says she couldn’t control herself after being fooled again. Meryem says, I know Kerim is guilty, he confessed it. But you should listen to him. Perhaps you took things the wrong way. Fatma doesn’t want to listen. This was enough. She doesn’t want to be disappointed again. Meryem understands.

Vural shows up at the house! Meryem runs out. What do you want?! She shouts, what are you doing here?! Leave! Fatma stands in shock behind Meryem. Vural ignores Meryem and he looks at Fatma, I’m sorry. Forgive me. I can’t live with this. Fatma begins shouting at him, God curse you! Meryem pushes Fatma back. Rahmi and Muka wake up. Meryem shouts at Vural to leave. Fatma cries and covers her ears.

dondi356

Fatmagul #27 part 3

Vural continues to explain, I was drunk that night, I wasn’t aware of anything. I don’t remember what I did. Rahmi starts to go after Vural and Muka holds him back. Vural continues, [Turkish] it kills me every night since that night. Fatma screams for him to go to hell. I hope you die! Vural says, you can say what you want, but Kerim didn’t do anything to you. Believe me, Fatmagul! Kerim did not hurt you that night!

Rahmi breaks free and attacks Vural. Muka and Meryem pull him off. Vural keeps repeating that Kerim didn’t touch Fatma. We did so much harm to you and Kerim and he assumed the blame! He keeps shouting that he can’t stand it anymore. Forgive me! Go to hell, Fatma shouts back! Vural gets in his car and leaves.

Meryem and Rahmi try to calm Fatma. Fatma thinks Kerim sent Vural there. Muka thinks Kerim wouldn’t do that. Fatma is convinced Kerim sent him to say those things. Meryem thinks no way would Kerim send any of them here. Fatma cries her eyes out. She feels Kerim sunk to a new low. He’s nothing to her now. She calls him selfish.

Vural cries as he drives himself right into a wall.

There’s a vigil at the hospital for Vural. Selim calls Munir to fill him in. Vural is in critical condition. He wasn’t drunk and the police think he was trying to kill himself. Munir asks about Leman. Selim says she’s in bad shape. They had to sedate her.

Perihan and Hilmiye are at Leman’s bedside. She blames herself for what happened. He wanted to die because of me. She keeps repeating this.

Mustafa shows up at Asu’s place. He starts to clean up the uneaten food left on the table, when his dad calls. Yes, he left the hospital. He didn’t tell them, he didn’t want his mother to worry. Let her continue her treatment. He’s fine and he’s not telling his dad where he is. He will call later.

Mustafa listens to Asu’s phone messages. They are all from him.

Sami has Asu and the other girl in his car. Ismail waits at a distance, while Sami talks on the phone. When he’s done he heads over to Ismail. Ismail says he made a deal with Bilal. We paid the girl’s debt and then some. Now the girl is ours. He doesn’t want to see Sami around her again and threatens him with bodily harm.

Sami lets Asu out of the car and Ismail takes her away. Who are you? Where are you taking me? To Mustafa, Ismail replies. He’s waiting for you.

Meryem and Fatma work in the garden. Muka comes out and asks about Kerim. He didn’t come home. His phone is off. Muka asks if she should call or call from Rahmi’s phone. Meryem warns, don’t push it.

Kerim is having tea someplace. He thinks back to watching Fatma try to cut her wrists. He thinks back to their wedding ceremony. He thinks back to the airport, when Fatma said they took her body, soul, honor and dreams.

Kerim walks and remembers Fatma on the plane saying, I didn’t ask you for anything, I want nothing from you. You are one of my four enemies. Then he remembers the night she showed up at the shed and told him that she was trying to forget but can’t. Kerim cries in his truck.

Erdo calls Ismail and he confirms he’s taking Asu home.

The doctor gives good news about Vural. He should survive, hopefully with no lasting damage. He can’t have visitors yet.

Asu is reunited with Mustafa. They thank Ismail and he says it’s thanks to Erdogan. Ismail leaves and Asu hugs Mustafa. He does not reciprocate while she tells him he is the most important thing to her and she loves him.

Fatmagul #27 part 4

Kerim sits in his truck and calls Meryem. Where are you, she asks? He asks if she’s home and if Fatma is with her. Yes. I have to speak with her asap, it’s very important. Meryem asks what is it about? He just wants to speak with Fatma. Of course Fatma doesn’t want to speak with him. Meryem says something must have happened. He sounded strange. Muka and Rahmi also say she should speak with him. Fatma reluctantly takes the phone.

I never lied to you, Kerim tells her. A sigh from Fatma… enough. Don’t interrupt, Kerim says, listen to me. I didn’t marry you because I had to. I married you not to cause you more harm. I felt responsible even without touching you. Because I was there that night, that damned moment. I was guilty like them. I didn’t protect you. I won’t deny it.

Fatma tells him she doesn’t want to hear the same old thing. She’s hanging up. He shouts, don’t hang up! She doesn’t. Kerim continues, I chose a punishment that would last my lifetime. The biggest punishment is to see each day the pain I’ve caused you. I couldn’t make it easier for you. I couldn’t gain your trust. If you think I am with those others and I’m trying to fool you…then I will turn myself into the police.

Fatma exclaims, what? I’ll tell the cops everything, Kerim says. What they did and what I did, so that we will all pay. I promise you. What are you talking about, she asks? If I don’t do this, I’ll never be able to prove my love to you, he says. I’m turning myself in now. I love you. I know I don’t have that right and that you hate me. I still love you. Fatma is in shock. I didn’t lie, he says, even if you don’t believe me. That’s my only truth. Kerim hangs up. We see he’s in front of the police station.
Fatma tells everyone that Kerim is going to confess everything. Muka gives a groan.
Kerim gets out of the truck and enters the station. He sees Mehmet and tells him he wants to file a report. I committed a crime, he says, and others, too.

There’s a cut: Meryem, Rahmi and Fatma show up at the station, just as the police take Kerim out. Meryem asks, what have you done? Don’t say anything, he replies, I had to do this. Rahmi asks if they will put Kerim in jail. They say they are taking him to the prosecutor for his statement. Kerim gives Meryem the keys to the truck. Kerim tells Fatma, it’s over now, I told them everything. I’ll receive my punishment along with the others. Do you believe me now, he asks? She just stares at him, but this doesn’t seem to bring her any satisfaction. Kerim is taken away. Rahmi asks what do we do now? Fatma says let’s follow them.

This is where we come in. Muka calls. They fill her in on what happened. Muka says we are ruined. He ruined us. What do we do now, Muka frets. The police are going to go after us too. Meryem tells Rahmi to warn Muka not to call anyone. She is worried Muka will call Munir.

Fatma takes the phone and warns her not to call anyone and adds that Muka also has to pay for her faults. Muka asks if Fatma knows what Kerim said about her. She reminds Fatma that what she did was for her good. Fatma says she’s hanging up, don’t call anyone and make it worse. Muka thinks about calling Munir. She puts down her phone.

As the police van heads down the street, Emre sees Kerim inside with the truck following.
Back to the hospital. Perihan asks Erdo and Selim if they are hiding something. Vural’s accident happened very close to where Fatma lives. She’s afraid this is connected to her. Erdo says it’s strange but whatever. Vural was probably drunk and upset over Munir. There’s nothing else to discuss. And I FF’d the rest of this scene.

Semsi rips into Leman. He doesn’t want to see her at the hospital. Leman becomes hysterical. Meltem helps Leman away.

dondi356

Fatmagul #27 part 5

Emre goes to see Mehmet. He asks about Kerim. Mehmet says Kerim has reported an incident and was taken to the prosecutor. Mehmet wouldn’t talk about it even if he could.

Kerim gives his statement. I’m as guilty as the others. I was there and didn’t stop them. I’m very sorry I didn’t speak sooner. I want us to get the punishment we deserve. I can’t live with this guilt.

Meryem, Fatma and Rahmi wait outside the room and worry.

The prosecutor goes over the statement and asks Kerim to read it and sign.

Meryem says they have to find a lawyer. She remembers Galip had given a recommendation when they had that issue with the newspaper article. Meryem never called because it got resolved. She thinks she saved the number but can’t remember his name. She calls Muka to look in her phone book. Muka finds, Avukat Kadir Pakalin. Muka asks to keep her informed. Meryem calls and gets voice mail and leaves a message.

We go to a funeral. The imam says prayers while we see a man start to shovel dirt on the grave. He is so upset he can’t continue. It’s Kadir. His wife has died. His friend tells him to be strong. He says she was prepared for death. A woman tells him, you did all you could to help her. Now she’s at rest. You cared for her for many years. It’s destiny.

Meryem realizes she didn’t leave a number for Kadir.

Fatma is called into the prosecutor’s office. She enters the room and sees Kerim. The prosecutor asks if she is Fatmagul Ilgaz. She nods. He asks her to sit. She sits across from Kerim with her head down. The prosecutor says, your husband filed a complaint. He told us you were raped by more than one person and it was covered up by your marriage. You were forced to do this by the family of the rapists. Is this true, he asks?

Fatma remains silent with her head down. She nods yes. The prosecutor wants her to speak. She responds, that’s right. He asks her if she will press charges. Fatma asks, still with her head down, what will happen if I do? The case will be re-opened and an investigation will start. If it goes to court and if they are found guilty, they will serve their sentences. Fatma briefly looks up at Kerim. A tear falls from her eye.

Kerim tells Fatma to speak up. We are already here. The prosecutor asks Kerim not to interfere. Fatma looks at Kerim… I’ll press charges. Kerim has an approving look.

More of Leman feeling guilty. Meltem takes a tray of coffees into the room to overhear Leman say, if it wasn’t for that summer night, Vural would have been studying in England. Hilmiye says that incident affected him so much, he couldn’t recover. Leman cries out, damn that night it happened! Perihan rushes over to Meltem. Uh, oh. They leave Leman so she can rest.

Meltem asks what Leman was talking about. She said something about Vural not being able to go to England. Hilmiye says it was about his ex-girlfriend. No, Meltem says something else happened. “damn that night it happened”. Perihan tells Meltem that Vural hospitalized with alcohol poisoning and that’s why he couldn’t go to England. It was a big secret.

Meryem with the others return home. Muka is anxiously waiting, and she asks what happened. Meryem asks for some breathing room. And Rahmi says don’t ask questions. Kerim enters the house. He sits separately on the other side of the living room. Muka asks again and Meryem says they will open an investigation. Rahmi adds Fatma pressed charges. You told them everything, Muka asks Kerim with worry about her sorry ass. Kerim tells Muka, we did what we had to do.

dondi356

Fatmagul #27 part 6

Meryem says they will investigate and decide if they will take the case to court. Kerim tells Muka not to tell anyone. Muka gets angry with Kerim, you’re the one that went to the police and told everything! Now this girl can’t go out on the street. Meryem says that privacy will be protected. Yeah, right, Muka says, when they start to talk behind your backs, you’ll see about privacy. Things were going back to normal. You fanned the flames, she tells Kerim.

Fatma goes out, she needs air. Kerim follows her out back. They sit. I’m sorry, Kerim says, don’t cry. I know this was not a good day for you. It was hard for both of us. I had to do it. It’s the only way I can free myself of these feelings. I want to start anew. I’m never going to stop loving you. I only ask you now to trust me. I’m ready to go to court, to jail. If that’s how I get you to believe in me, it doesn't matter what comes.

Fatma wipes her tears. Don’t worry, she says. We won’t go to court and no one will get punished. No one will believe me now. Even the prosecutor didn’t believe me. He said, why did you give a different statement before? Why didn’t you say anything until now? Kerim thinks those are normal questions to ask. Fatma says he asked several times why they married.

She asks, what will happen in court? I will be the guilty one again. Those animals will bother us and threaten us again. No, Kerim says, they will be punished now. I won’t permit it, we won’t permit them to hurt us. We, both of us, won’t let them win. We will do it together. Trust me.

We see Semsi sitting at Vural’s beside. We see Selim and Erdo looking at the scene of Vural’s accident. Selim concludes Vural went to see Fatma and then decided to kill himself. They leave the scene. Erdo wants to pass by Kerim’s house.

Selim can’t believe Vural was so weak. Erdo says he wasn’t weak when he went after Munir. Selim is irked and says it’s more than that. You brought Mustafa to work and Vural lived in fear of him. Erdo plays it off, don’t worry about Mustafa. How can you be so calm, Selim asks. Erdo says he has him under control.

Asu takes care of Mustafa. She can’t believe she is here with him. She was so scared. I thought I would never leave that garbage. You saved me in my worst moment. [out of the frying pan and into the fire, honey] She continues, no one would have done something like this for me. She is grateful. Now you owe the Yasarans. I don’t owe them anything, he replies, they paid what they owed me.

Asu looks troubled and Mustafa calls her on it. You don’t have to worry about anything. What if your family wants to separate us, she asks? Mustafa says you won’t see them. You’re not going to talk to them under any circumstances. My mother is sick and I don’t want to upset her. Asu says, she doesn’t want to upset anyone either.

Fatma asks, do we know when they will open the investigation? Kerim has no idea. She says the more I want to recover, the closer the nightmare comes. Kerim says it will be very hard for her. But I promise, you I won’t leave you alone. I will always be with you. Trust me. He takes her ring out of his pocket. Put your ring on, he asks, and never take it off. Please. Not for me, but for the reason you wore it before. Wear it as protection, so you are not bothered by anyone.

He puts it on the table before her. She unfolds her arms, quickly puts the ring on and folds her arms again. She looks away from him. Muka spies from the kitchen window. She goes back to the living room and reports that they are having a good time out there.

Meryem is on the laptop and too busy to get into it with Muka. She’s looking for another lawyer. She called the first one three times, and he hasn’t called back. Now his phone is off.

And we are out.

Fatmagul

Dondi thank you once again for all the work you put in to recapping this wonderful show everyday. It is obvious how much you love it and it is so much fun sharing it with you!

Well I said we would see today what happens, and boy did it all hit the fan!!

The scene with Fatma telling Kerim off was so heartbreaking but so authentic and so well done on the actresses part! You could feel her frustration and how betrayed she felt. Even more so when she felt bad for hurting Meryem and when she was telling Rahmi she had tried to trust him and look what he did?? So emotionally complex and it really shows what kind of wonderful heart Fatma has underneath all the junk

Then Vural coming and apologizing!! So horrible and in Fatma's mind it would only cheapen Kerim's apology (even before you consider whether or not Kerim sent him) because Vural is basically giving all the same reasons and excuses. Sad again that she believes Kerim sent Vural but under the circumstances and the timing it's reasonable to believe it. And really, Kerim did send him. Not the way she assumed but Kerim called Vural and the result of that call was Vural deciding to go and make that stupid apology!

Fatmagul

Then Kerim deciding if you think I am with them I will turn all of us in! That's one way to make his point, but also like he says he realizes he can't make her life better by simply being married to her so he ends the cover up. It is so telling (as you mentioned in your recap) that he smiles when Fatma confirms she wants to file charges. It literally puts him on the hook for a crime but he doesn't care because he is only thinking about her. I actually thought it was very telling that Fatma looks Kerim straight in the eye, that tear runs down her cheek and still looking him in the eye she says yes. Something shifted in the moment.

The evidence of the shift is seen when they are talking later at the table outside and she is saying how the Yeserans will just come after us, and bother us again. Everything is 'us' now! And of course she puts the ring back on! She is acknowledging for the first time that they are in this together.

One thing that I noticed, mostly yesterday (about Tuesday episode) but I forgot to say it is that the actress playing Fatma really is very beautiful. I didn't notice it so much before, probably because there's been nothing but trauma, anger and sadness in her expression but now that they are showing more emotions and she is even able to smile you see it.

Not surprised Vural tried suicide, he was headed that direction for awhile. The comment by one of the mom's (don't remember which) was accurate, he hasn't been able to survive that night. Semsi's screaming at Leman to leave the hospital because he didn't want to see her was heartless. Maybe somewhat understandable but he shouldn't be able to stop her from being there with her son.

Nett has said we could go ahead and comment on last night's episode without waiting for whatever she's able to put up, and I for one am eager to do so.

For once, I was happy that Miran dislikes and distrusts Harun. I'm still not completely sure what to make of the Deniz/Harun plot. Was Deniz's role just to distract Miran while Harun dropped off the note and, perhaps, did some other stuff in Miran's room as well? Or was she supposed to make Reyyan jealous and undermine the ReyMir relationship? Or did Deniz and Miran really have a serious relationship when she was in the States and was she really hoping that she and Miran would get back together? Whatever the truth is, she's apparently not going to let the matter drop. She too has caught the venganza bug. As for Harun, on the one hand he may have provided another helpful note, which suggests he's on the side of the angels. However, Harun's drawing his pistol when he heard Miran outside his hotel room door makes me see Harun as even more dangerous than he had seemed. I'd love to know who Harun called as soon as he left the hotel.

Another thing that interested me about last night's episode was Azize's threat to Hazar at the episode's end. Hazar accuses her of almost burning to death her beloved granddaughter and the other innocent young people in the country house fire. Azize replies, "I'll burn your heart, Hazar. Remember this." Her words immediately reminded me of the scene in Tuesday's episode. Azize has a flashback to the scene with the bandaged woman sitting by the window, upset that Nasuh hasn't yet come. After the flashback, Azize addresses Ayse and says: "You cried so much, Ayse....You got burned inside and out. But his heart will burn in flames too. They will see, they will see." She uses the same threatening image--a Sadoglu man's heart will burn. The earlier flashback made me feel that the bandaged woman at the window was Ayse, and that she may thus have survived. And if she did, then I think it's quite possible that the crockpot theory that Azize is Ayse is correct. The repeated burning heart image also may support that. ???

Fatmagul

Dear Dondi, thank you for taking on another two hours of this fast moving drama. I appreciate the time and talent you are devoting to provide recaps for our little group of fans .

Watching everyone suffering is hard . The more Kerim tried to win over Fatmagul's trust, the more things got messed up. He seemed to feel that turning himself in and reporting the rape was the only way she would finally believe him.

I thought Vural seemed like a lost soul even before that fateful night . When Kerim picked him up at the airport , they went swimming ,and he asked Kerim about his plans for the future . Kerim expected to stay in the village and get married and to have children. However, Vural wasnt sure about what he wanted . He didn't seem to have any goals or direction in his life.

Darcy, I love to read your analysis as the story unfolds. Dondi explains everything so clearly without giving away where the story is headed.

Fatmagul

Thank you, dondi356. Excellent recaps of the dramatic episodes.

For Kerim to have a hope for a future with Fatmagul he had to confess to the police. Otherwise she could have doubts, she might think he stayed with her to quiet her, even if she had not seen him meeting Vural. But by going to the police he dragged Fatmagul with him without asking. What if she didn't want to go through the investigation and trial process?

The ring has become the symbol of Fatmagul believing Kerim, maybe it always was.

Fatmagul

Lucio , yes, the ring seems to have become a symbol of Fatmagul believing Kerim . We still have many episodes to go.

Hercai

Hmmm...I expected the gift box to contain an expensive piece of jewelry since the suitcase Miran gave Rey was filled with sexy lingerie and the closet had expensive gowns. However, the box contained a pen which Mir said was to symbolize Rey's desire for an education . In "Fatmagul," Kerim and Meryem encourage Fatmagul to finish high school and continue on to university. It seems that the Turkish dizis are promoting education for women.
