Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #25
Part 1 of 6

Hazar tells Reyyan that he has always loved her like she was his own. Reyyan has a total meltdown, yelling, throwing herself down on her knees saying, if you had told me sooner that you were my stepdad, maybe this whole venganza wouldn’t have happened. Screeching at Miran, she demands to know if he knew this truth? No, he tells her, trying to help her back up, I found out the same time you did.

She tells them both to leave and not touch her because every time they do, they just hurt her. To Hazar, she says, stop saying you are my father, you just lied and made me believe that. To Miran, you made me believe in love and now have destroyed any hope of it. Miran tells her that both he and Hazar love her very much. Still hysterical, she jumps up and runs into the field across the street.

Hazar chases after her saying that he was afraid to tell her because he was afraid to lose her or that she would want to find her bio dad. Reyyan whirls around and says to him that not telling her was selfish of him. (We agree). To Miran she says, and you, you made amends but then punish me because you cannot forgive yourself for what you did. You both punish me for the love I have for each of you. Miran tries to hug her as Hazar gets a call on his cell (he better not answer).

Don’t push me away Reyyan, let’s bind our wounds together. Reyyan tells him that is impossible to do because he took his venganza out on the wrong person. Don’t tell me to bind our wounds because you have been running away from me for days. She pushes him away and tells him to leave. To Hazar, she says the same thing. You have been running away from this my whole life, you are just as selfish as Miran. (You tell them Reyyan!). She walks away, heading back to the house. Turning around, she sees dumb and dumber standing there looking like the idiots they are. Laughing through the tears, Reyyan says, it took me finding out that I am not your daughter for the two men I love most in the world to be together not yelling at each other.

Grannie Sukran returns from buying bread and hears the commotion. She encourages Reyyan to listen to Hazar, she is sure there is a good explanation for why he didn’t tell her. Listen to your husband, give them a chance. Reyyan says, Grannie, don’t waste your breath, neither one of these two has anything to say to me. Good Grannie (GG) continues to try to mediated the situation saying her father and Miran love her very much. Finally, Reyyan tells her you have no idea the evil Miran has done to me thinking I was Hazar Sadoglu’s daughter. GG demands to know what he did, while Miran pleads (with his eyes) with her not to say anything. Reyyan spills he guts and tells GG about being used to avenge Dilsah’s death. GG demands to know from Miran if what Reyyan said is true. His reaction gives GG her answer and she gives him a great slap, telling him he is not worthy of being her grandson or Dilsah’s son. When Miran tries to follow Reyyan back to the house. GG tells him to pound sand and leave Reyyan alone. She cuts him again saying, you are definitely the grandson of Azize! Get lost and go back to her.

Hazar’s phone rings again. It is Melike, saying that Gul has run away from home. Miran wants to go with Hazar but he tells him to stay and be close to Reyyan.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #25
Part 2 of 6

Gul is wondering the streets talking to her doll assuring the doll that she will find her mother and bring her back so Reyyan and Hazar will be happy again. GG is trying to keep Reyyan from running off. Reyyan tells her that she has endured so much from Miran and his family, even an attempted murder by suffocation from Gonul. We are taken back to the early episodes and see Gonul trying to smother Reyyan with a pillow. GG doesn’t want to hear anymore of the atrocities that Reyyan has had to endure. She tells Rey that this is her home and she can stay with her as long as she wants. Rey decides to go for a walk and as she walks she thinks back to everything HazMir (thank you Nett) told her earlier.

We cut to the sheep barn and Yaren looking a bit dirtier with a sheep bleating in her face. She talks to herself vowing to get out of there a take her revenge out on Reyyan. The tribal woman shows up with bread and fresh water. Yaren is a little biotch with her, then tries to sweet talk her way out. The tribal woman is having none of it, tells her to respect her elders and pours the water out in front of Yaren’s face and takes the bread with her.

A few minutes later, Harun shows up at the barn. There is some funny back and forth between these two (too much to recap), bottom line, Harun offers to get her out of there if she marries him right there. Yaren refuses of course and Harun leaves her high, dry and thirsty. He proceeds to his car and calls someone, most likely the note master. He gives an update and agrees to really marry Yaren, then discovers that Firat is having him investigated.

Gul puts some money on a bus counter and asks for a ticket to see her mother. The clerk seems kind, tells her to sit down and he will let her know when the bus leaves, then he promptly calls Mahmoud to let him know she is there and to let her family know. Mahmoud lets HAG know about the Gul find and she sends him to pick her up. (Uh oh). HAG laughs that the Sadoglu girls just keep falling in her lap. Esma shows up to ask permission to leave her own house and go pick up some personal items she left at the other konak. Grudgingly, Azize gives her permission to leave.

At the Sadoglu konak, Handan is pacing, complaining (what else is new) and concerned about Yaren, all are concerned about Gul. Azat arrives and seems very calm. He gets interrogated by Handan, about “her” whereabouts, Elif listens from the 2nd story balcony. Somehow, Azat thinks Handan and Melike are talking about Reyyan, then Melike tells him that it is Gul who has run away. Handan says she would never be worried about Reyyan. Handan yells at him as he sprints out to find Gul, that he always has Reyyan on his mind. This doesn’t seem to sit well with Elif. (Another Uh-oh).

At the Aslanbey konak, there has been quite the transformation in color, flowers and furniture in the courtyard. Gonul sits in one of the new chairs and thinks about what Firat told her regarding Azize lying to her about her brother being alive. Ayise asks if she wants some coffee as Sultana joins her. The front door opens and Grannie Sukran enters looking pretty fierce. She tells both of them off for participating in the venganza and for what they did to Reyyan. Both try to justify themselves, but Good Grannie is having none of it. She calls them monsters and an alliance of evil for collaborating with Azize, regardless of the circumstances. Firat joins them in the courtyard and she tells him off too. At least he has the decency to lower his gaze as GG stomps out of the courtyard. She is looking pretty spry these days!

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #25
Part 3 of 6

Gul is sitting at the bus station when Mahmoud arrives. She recognizes him as one of the guards from Miran’s house. He gaslights her saying that Miran sent him to take her to her mother. Hand in hand they walk out.

Yaren is yelling from her sheep barn, demanding to be let out. The tribal woman tells her to shut up and using a shepherd’s staff, grabs her around the neck telling her it is time to work. She wants Yaren to move large bags of feed into the barn. Yaren tries to run away but is cut off by the sound of barking dogs. Next, we see Yaren struggling to pull the bags into the barn and planning her revenge on GT and Reyyan. It is very entertaining.

Reyyan arrives back at GG’s house. A woman stops her and gives her an invitation to a wedding to give GG. She invites Reyyan as well. Sadly, Reyyan looks at the pretty invite and remembers the words of Hazar at her own fake wedding where he promised, as her father to always be there for her, all she had to do was call for him. She has another mini-meltdown, calling for her father.

The Sadoglu men are at a police station and looking for Gul. Zehra calls and of course Hazar panics. It is fast thinking Azat who grabs his phone and tells Zehra that they are at the factory and Hazar is dealing with an employee who has a problem. He promises to have Hazar call her in a bit. All the men look relieved with his quick action. Nasuh tries to console Hazar but he instead tries to strangle his dad telling him to leave his daughters alone or he will kill Nasuh. A policeman comes out and tells them that a report came in about a blonde little girl sitting at a bus terminal. They all head out.

A knock on the door lets Azize know that Mahmoud has arrived with a terrified Gul. Gul pleads with him not to leave her with the black-eyed woman and to take her to her mother, or home. Azize menacingly leans forward and tells Gul that she will decide what to do with her first. The doll is prominently displayed in the reflection of a mirror, as Gul begins to cry.

Back at the village house, Reyyan sits outside on the bench looking at the wedding invite. Miran finally shows his face and sits next to her. She tells him, are you done being my shadow and following me around? You knew I was following you? Why didn’t you say something? I want to be alone, she responds. I realized that I have always been alone. You know, she continues, there is only one person who loves me unconditionally and never lies to me and that is Gul. I love you, Reyyan, says Miran, I know and I love you too. I have told you this over and over, but it doesn’t change anything, she responds. You are too busy to listen to me because you listen to the lies, the voices in your head and you never heard me or even tried to listen.

He tries to justify himself, again saying he could not exist if she wasn’t by his side, but Reyyan tells him that she has been the one always supporting him, keeping him upright while ignoring her own pain. Now when she needed him, he wasn’t there. He tries to make more of the same old excuses. Bottom line to the conversation, Reyyan has finally realized that in this world the only person you can truly rely on is yourself. She tells him to leave and to leave her alone as she heads into the casita. At least they didn’t yell. She sits on the bed and he on the steps outside. Reyyan opens the window and Miran tells her that he will not leave without her. She closes the window as Miran gets a call that infuriates him (it must be HAG about Gul) and leaves. Reyyan goes back to the window and sees he is gone. She says, like I thought. He only thinks about himself and I have only myself.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #25
Part 4 of 6

The Sadoglu men arrive at the bus station, only to find that Gul is gone and no one knows where. Hazar freaks out again as Nasuh gets a call that infuriates him.

Esma is back at the Aslanbey konak and runs into Firat on his way out. He ignores her and then tells her he has nothing to say. She wants to explain but he says that she put Azize before him, her only child and for what? Azize will replace her in and instant just as Sultana did in one day. He can’t believe that after all the evil Azize has done, she continues to support her. Firat walks away. Walking into the courtyard, Esma is surprised to see all the cheerful changes.

Miran, Hazar and Nasuh all arrive at the “Esma konak” to find Azize standing proudly. (I guess she was the one who called them). After some threatening back and forth, Azize tells Hazar to take better care of his children (for once I agree with her) as she has Mahmoud bring out Gul (with her back pack and not the doll!). As Hazar leaves with Gul, Azize gets one more low blow in, she says, So Reyyan isn’t your daughter Hazar? You sure kept that secret well. There are more threats from Hazar and Nasuh as Gul pleads to leave because she is scared.

Miran stays back and tells HAG that she will do anything to anyone for the sake of her revenge. Calmly, HAG responds saying, if I wanted to harm Gul, I wouldn’t have called you. She reminds him that she doesn’t want venganza only justice and she will ignore his comments and wait patiently until he sees/hears the truth. She will not stop until justice is served. She walks back into Esma’s konak as Mahmoud closes the doors, practically in Miran’s face.
Back at the other Aslanbey konak, Esma is in a panic because her room is packed up and she cannot find her things. She encounters Ayise who informs her that she is the new head housekeeper. Esma tells her she has been the head housekeeper for 40 years. Laughing, Sultana overhears them and says that they are sisters and should not fight. There is a fun back and forth between Sultana and Esma (mostly Sultana) the point being that Sultana is thrilled Azize is gone and she will consider allowing Esma to return after she leaves her CV for her to review. Sultana tells her that her personal items are in a closet. Gonul joins them, happy to see Esma. She invites her to the kitchen for coffee.

Gonul offers to make Esma some coffee but Esma declines saying she is too nervous as it is and just wants to sit and talk for a minute. At the table is a beautiful looking dessert that Ayise made and Gonul offers Esma a piece. Esma warns Gonul not to eat any of the dessert because she is allergic to some of the ingredients. Esma learned that both Gonul and Firat were allergic when they were children. Gonul thinks it is a sign that she and Firat have the same allergy, but Esma confirms that when she was pregnant with Firat she ate a lot of this dessert and that is most likely why Firat became allergic. Gonul is surprised to hear Esma talk about her pregnancy (remember she thinks Esma adopted Firat) and she hears Firat’s voice in her head warning her about HAG lying about her brother being alive.

At the Sadoglu konak, everyone is waiting on news about Gul. Azat wants to go help his uncle but Cihan reminds him that Azize only wanted Nasuh and Hazar to go pick up Gul. Elif looks apprehensive but says nothing. Hazar and Nasuh arrive with Gul. Everyone is momentarily happy.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #25
Part 5 of 6

Gul tells them that she was a little bit scared and confirms that she did indeed run away to because their home is not happy anymore with everyone shouting and her sister is not her sister anymore. Tearfully, she asks Hazar if he really is her dad. He confirms that both she and Reyyan are his daughters. Azat picks up Gul and offers to play with her while Melike makes her something to eat. Gul wants to be in her sister’s room and Azat, along with Elif, head upstairs.

Handan tells Hazar she is glad that Gul is okay but then wants to know about her daughter Yaren. How is she? Where is she? demands Handan of Nasuh. Hazar wants nothing to do with that conversation and leaves the table heading upstairs. Nasuh tells Handan that Yaren is fine, she will either get married or live in the place he left her, but she will never return to this home, so stop asking. Cihan says nothing.

Gonul is in her bedroom thinking of all the times she has confronted HAG about her brother. She particularly remembers a conversation where HAG says that her brother had to be well hidden and protected from the Sadoglu’s. She then remembers all the times HAG put Firat in the line of fire and danger. She comes to the conclusion that HAG has once again lied to her and Firat cannot possibly be her brother and that she is stupid (this we already knew) to believe anything HAG says.

Reyyan wakes from a nap and finds GG siting, watching over her. She asks where GG headed off too earlier? Oh to run an errand, says GG. (More like to kick ass and take names at the Aslanbey konak). She tells Rey to get up as she has prepared her a nice meal. Rey says she isn’t hungry but would rather go for a walk and get some air. GG lets her head out. Of course, opening the door, Rey encounters Miran holding up the fence with this backside. She tries to walk past him, but he asks if they can talk? She nods in agreement and they head off.

In the Turkish version, Reyyan walks and Miran follows as an emotional sounding Turkish song plays in the background, not the ridiculous ranchera song that I really dislike. Hazar is shown trying to revive the ReyMir rose bush that looks rather sad. Reyyan thinks about her wedding dress, being tossed out into the town square, shooting Miran and Gonul proclaiming that she was the real wife to Miran. Azat is now sitting on the staircase looking very sad as poor Elif watches him from the balcony above, looking even more sad. Miran tries to stop Reyyan once, but she walks around him until finally she stops at the base of a tree and sits down.

Miran asks, why she won’t talk to him? She says she is talked out and nothing she says ever mattered to him. He admits that he did run away from her and encourages her not to make his same mistakes. They love each other, they are sitting side by side, they can work this out together. Reyyan tells him that everyone can make mistakes but her and he isn’t there for her, he is there for himself because he feels guilty for everything. Again, Miran agrees with her and encourages her to spill her guts, be angry with him but don’t chase him away. She tells him that she can’t spill out her feeling because she has suppressed everything for so long now that if she utters one word he would suffocate and drown.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #25
Part 6 of 6

He again admits that he has been selfish but he wants her to let go and he will be the one to help her. This pushes her back over the edge. Reyyan says that he dropped her and let her fall, he promised to always catch her but he didn’t. She has fallen not once but many times and he did nothing to catch her. She rattles off all the times she has put up with him including all the times he vowed to kill her father, every time he believed HAG’s lies, she stood by herself.

Miran tells her he doesn’t care who her father is and Hazar has always stood by her like a real father. The man that he grew up hating loves Reyyan, like he does, with all his heart. Reyyan points to a school right above them and says that she gave up all her dreams just so her father wouldn’t have to bow his head to her grandfather because she wanted to pursue her dreams and become a doctor. He cannot help her because the two men she loves most pushed her off a cliff and now she is shattered. She doesn’t even know where to start looking for all the pieces.

Miran wants to help her look for the pieces, they can do it together. She tells him that she will do it herself and he needs to go. Unlike him, she will not let herself sit back and feel sorry for herself. She doesn’t need anyone’s help. She will think for herself and then make a decision about everything, him, her life and the direction she will take. She leaves him pouting in the field.

Thank goodness, we are back to some levity and see Yaren pulling those heavy sacks to the barn. She is dirtier than ever but still complaining and hoping for rescue or escape. Two cars pull up, one with Nasuh the other with Harun and some official looking guy. Nasuh gives her an ultimatum, marry Harun right there, right now, or live here with the sheep the rest of her life. Yaren does not back down agrees to the marriage and signs the paperwork becoming the wife, sheep poop and all of Harun. As Nasuh leaves, Yaren threatens him that he will regret putting Reyyan above her. Nasuh returns to give her a good slap, but Harun tells him she is not longer a Sadoglu and he cannot treat her like that.

Nasuh tells Harun that she is no longer is granddaughter and they are to remain on the outside of the family limits. Harun agrees. He tells Yaren that they are now married and she cannot get into his car smelling like a barn and dirty. Yaren tells him that she didn’t sign into a marriage, but rather and agreement to make his life a living hell. She strides off to the car, as the episode ends.

Thanks very much, VVS, for this excellent recap. I especially appreciate all the detail, since I lost my patience with the episode from minute one, and I found myself not paying as much attention as I should. Reyyan's behavior, especially toward her father, infuriated me. At one point, I wanted to reach through the TV screen and slap her.

I do think that Reyyan described quite well all the ways in which Miran hurt her, including his turning his obsessive guilt into an obstacle in their relationship. But I do not sympathize with her meltdowns over Hazar's not being her father. Yes, one can say that Hazar was selfish not to have told Reyyan, but for me that doesn't justify her outlandish response. As Good Grannie said in a previous episode, what's important is not blood but heart. The fact that all this dragged on for two hours didn't help.

Like Gonul, I'm now confused about Firat. Didn't Gonul find some paper that indicated that Firat was adopted? Is Esma lying to her? I'm really sorry that Esma and Firat didn't have a heart-to-heart talk. I'm really curious to know why Esma did seem to choose Azize over Firat.

Thanks very much, VVS, for pointing out that Gul didn't have her doll with her when Hazar et al. came to rescue her from the woman with dark eyes. I had failed to notice this. I guess the doll goes back on my list of Things to Worry About.

I did enjoy the scenes with Yaren. So does the so-called wedding ceremony Nasuh arranged really count as a legitimate marriage? It should be amusing to see how the new Señora Bakircioglu deals with her exceedingly devious husband.

Herc

Fabulously done VVS! Great recap! You have quite the eye for detail, and especially this episode! Like Juanita, it was hard for me to watch, mostly in the beginning and any bouts of Reyyan’s rage. I get her, truly I do, but she seems to have taken a page out of Miran’s message of constant misery——-and yelling! Does yelling somehow give the message more meaning? I don’t get that part. Plus it’s out of Reyyan’s character. That’s who Miran is, not her. I’m glad she gave it to him though! I’m glad she told him that she won’t be drowning in misery like him, and will pick herself up and move forward—— even though she made it clear she doesn’t know how to do that yet. I also agree that Hazar doesn’t deserve such ire from her although Hazar did allow Nasuh to beat her and treat her like a nuisance of nothingness.

Sultana cracked me up beyond her normal antics! Lol! Did she really tell Esma——when Esma tried to throw at her what Azize will do because of the changes she’s made——- that “ If my aunt had a mustache, she would be my uncle?” Whahahaha! Did she really say that or was it a mess up in translation???? I was laughing so hard! Sultana is really soaking up her “ Queen of the mansion” fantasy!! You can tell she’s been dreaming of this moment since she let her rotten husband blow up in the car! She’s too much! Also glad Granny Sukran told the bunch of them off and smacked the C-R-A-P out of Miran! Yeah, she’s who I want on my team! All day and everyday!

Isn’t it ironic that Azize kidnapped and put the fear of God in her own granddaughter, lol. Yup, I’m sticking with Hazar is her son, so Gul is her granddaughter too. That’s all I thought about while the other queen——the queen of darkness scared the heck out of Gul to make a point with Miran. Now I don’t get her reasoning here, and her lies are digging her grave deeper and deeper. No one needs to do anything to Azize cause she’s finally doing it all to herself. Go Azize go! I’m rooting for what will be your magnificent and well deserved downfall! Can’t wait!

Then there’s Yaren, bipolar as ever! One second she’s crying and begging, and the next second she’s biting the hand that feeds her. I swear her and Azize must’ve attended the same school of threats! They are a pair! But I do believe one thing—— she will make Harun’s sneaky life hell—- without a doubt, and he won’t even see all that she has planned coming! That’s cause she makes it up as she goes along—- psycho that she is!

One last thing, was it just me, or did it look like Hazar almost gave Azize the finger, when she threw in her last dig before he left with Gul? I was like do it Hazar, do it!! Lol

Thank you VVS! I did enjoy this episode and your recap. Not the meltdown’s so much, haha……..

herc

Thank you Juanita and carmella for the astute, early morning comments. This episode was hard to recap, especially with all the conversations. I missed a lot of the great snark between Yaren and Harun/Esma/Sultana.

Like both of you, I was completely taken aback by Reyyan’s yelling and hysterics, so not like her personality. I tolerated the first outburst, but it continued and bugged me, especially regarding Hazar. Even Miran was defending Hazar last night for heaven sake, she should direct some of that rage toward Zehra as well who is just as much at fault, if not more.

Juanita, I think Gonul is going to have to dig deeper to find out if Firat is or is not her brother. I don’t think Esma lied to her. Gonul did find those adoption papers, so she should do some reach or just do a DNA test. I also wondered about barnyard marriage legitimacy but they both signed and have that red book that Azat and Elif had, so I guess yes, it was legit. It is still not clear if Harun is on the side of good or evil. If it is evil, then Yaren would be a great addition to his plans (or that of the note master).
carmella, have you ever considered recapping? Your comments are always so entertaining and you have a flair for description, “nuisance of nothingness” is just one of many clever ways you turn a phrase! Yes, the translation of “If my aunt had a mustache, she would be my uncle?” was the same in the Turkish version. Sultana was on a role. She best enjoy it because the battle is on with her and Azize, even though it does seem that Sultana has that note master Ace up her sleeve. The theory that Azize is Hazar’s mother is definitely interesting and very plausible. I just don’t understand why she hates her own son so much? I did not notice the middle finger potential salute from Hazar to Azize, I will have to rewatch that scene again!

Hercai

VVS, Thank you for a great recap of all the bellowing and agonizing . I was mostly worried about poor, little Gul who is trying to manage growing up in the midst of all these adult crazies. Also, poor, old Goodgran now has to hobble in and out of the Hobbit home taking care of young, sturdy Rey .

As for Rey going muy BSC over the new news , my theory is that the guy playing Miran is just all worn out from all his scenes of hissyfitting in every episode. Maybe he has a sore throat . Thus, the writers gave his usual lines to Rey .

Hercai..

Idea for a spin-off whose : " Barnyard Bride. "
"Sheep Show"

This episode made me think of my high school friends who raised sheep. My friend later got excused from jury duty one spring because she had to help deliver the lambs . Do you think Yaren might have started to get used to life as a shepherdess?

Herc

Thanks for the compliment VVS, but I’ll leave recapping to the specialists. Plus I’m not Spanish fluent, I know just enough to get me by, lol….

But back to your very pertinent question about why Azize hates her own son so much? My theory is that she thinks her and Nasuh’s son died in the fire. And when Nasuh married, he wanted the baby also named Hazar in honor of the son they lost….far off theory, but for some reason she never investigated into how old Hazar is, or that he just might be her son too. Azize has already lost two sons, and I fear she will lose Hazar before she finds out he’s her son——-after all, she’s trying to kill him herself, lol…..

And for all of her dirty deeds, her punishment will be losing all her sons…….I hope not….Hazar has grown on me——whiny azz that he is, lol….

herc

Susanlynn, I think you are on to something with the “Barnyard Bride” spin off! I think Yaren is done with the ranching business and will just make everyone’s life miserable from here on out. I think I got used to the Miran meltdowns but hope that the Reyyan ones end tonight.

carmella, I am definitely NOT a recapping specialist and totally the rookie on this recapping team! I was a lurker for a long time, but was encouraged by the friendly feel of the Telemundo patio around a year ago to dip my toe into the recapping spotlight as way to get through those tough months of the pandemic. I am glad I did and I am so glad you have joined us for this dizi ride! Now, to your theory about Hazar and Azize, so she thinks he died in the fire, but you think he didn’t and she is now ticked off that Nasuh named “another” son Hazar after a dead one? Wow, that is a theory for sure and some deep rooted venganza.

Herc

Partially VVS. Or her hate just stems from the fact that Nasuh has two living sons, and her two sons are dead…does she “truly” believe that Hazar killed Mehmet? So many questions and my mind goes racing off in 20 different directions, lol…..attributed to the fact that I’ve watched one too many novelas and read one too many mystery romance novels! Lol…….

Carmella, I'd like to second what VVS said about wishing you'd consider recapping. Your comments are always insightful and exceptionally well-written. Add to that your terrific sense of humor, and you have everything you need. Let me assure you that you do NOT have to be even moderately fluent in Spanish! I certainly am not--not even close! Indeed, for years I didn't even consider recapping for that reason. Then one day a regular recapper for the novela I was watching was unable to do it. I thought to myself, "well, perhaps I should give it a try just this once--something is better than nothing." I was surprised at the result and the enthusiasm people expressed. Pretty soon I was hooked.
Do give it some thought.

Herc

Thank you too, Juanita, for the vote of confidence. I will think about it but I’m still not ready for “prime time” as they say, lol
Also forgot to mention that I was a BIG fan of Asian K dramas for a while, and EVERYBODY in k dramas are related somehow, lol…..long lost brother, mother, father and sisters EVERYWHERE. And if they weren’t blood related, they shared some kind of past together that had to be brought back to the “remembrance zone,” via revenge or something spiritually related, lol. One thing I did like about k dramas is that there is rarely any “love at first sight” kinda stuff. Relationships progressed in the usual way until two folks finally realized that they were in “like.”

Herc

Thanks so much VVS for another wonderful recap. I got a couple of phone calls during the show and I missed a lot of it. I won’t even bother to watch since your recap was so detailed. Great comments, too. Sorry I can’t add more to the mix.

I saw the entire opening sequence, which was so ridiculous, I started to laugh.
Oh, no, Gul left her doll for Azize to find the letter? Maybe Esma will find it and save it again.

That’s some theory you have, carmella. You would make an excellent recapper. I’m not fluent in Spanish either. Like you, I can get by.

I think Azize lost three sons, Mehmet, Sultana’s husband and Elif’s father. I can’t remember their names. Burned in a fire and also lost her siblings, except for Hanife. If she is Ayse, which I still believe, she’s had a rotten life.

“Barnyard Bride” LOL, Susanlynn.

Fatmagul #35 part 1

Can’t remember if this was in the previous ep or this is a cut: While Fatma gets ready, Kerim gets a check in call from Meryem. She mentions that Rahmi is still sleeping. Uh oh, Kerim realizes Fatma wasn’t speaking with her brother. When Fatma returns, she asks who called. Kerim says it was his boss.

Muka pukes her guts out in the bathroom. She thinks she’s pregnant. Salih says we’ve only been together a few days. You’re not the father, Muka replies.

Kerim drops Fatma off. She is in a hurry to get rid of Kerim, but he drives a short distance and walks back towards the restaurant and watches from a distance. When Fatma is satisfied he’s gone, she leaves. And Kerim is ready to leave, too, only to glance back and see Fatma take off. He follows her and watches her get into a taxi. He grabs the next cab and it’s, follow that taxi!

Our group checks out of the hotel. Kadir grabs Meryem’s bag to carry and sees she still has the rose. It’s not withered, she says, I couldn’t throw it out. [yes that and…]
Murat wants to call his mother because Rahmi promised they would speak to her again. Mukaddes called, Meryem asks? Rahmi tells the others Muka said she had to go to her sick mother.

Salih comes back with a pregnancy test kit. While Muka pees on the stick, Salih calls Munir. He tells Munir they are coming back to Istanbul. She (Muka) doesn’t want to stay. What else can he do? Munir says it’s important he keep Muka with him. Salih has a bad feeling. He drops the pregnancy bomb on Munir and adds her husband is the father. Munir says he has to stick this out, they had a deal. Salih grudgingly agrees but says they are headed back to Istanbul.

Muka’s test is positive.

Fatma looks at the note Mustafa left her. Fatma’s cab takes her to the courthouse. Kerim arrives seconds after. He calls out to her. What are you doing here? You followed me, she asks? I asked you a question, he replies. She wants to know why he followed her. Because I realized you were lying, he says. He asks again why did you come here? She evades answering and she tries walking past him.

He grabs her. Let go! He lets her go but doesn’t let her get away without answering. Why are you here? She finally says she is filing a complaint. The hang up calls frightened her. She’s angry. Kerim senses there is something more.

He presses her for what she is hiding. I know you didn’t call your brother last night or this morning, he tells her. You have talked to Mustafa. He threatened you. Why did you call him? I don’t understand why you still speak with him.

Fatma says she didn’t speak to Musto. She spoke to Kadir. We see the flashback of their convo. She is scared and thinking that Kerim might be right about Mustafa. He is capable of anything. Musto followed them, he left a note at the house. Kadir tells her to tell Kerim. She doesn’t want to do that. Kerim will go looking for him and that’s what Mustafa wants. He told me “then call your husband.” He wants to hurt Kerim, Fatma says.

Kadir tells Fatma to take the note to the prosecutor and file a complaint. This will be evidence and they can track his phone calls, too. Fatma asks him not to tell Meryem. She doesn’t want to frighten her or have her call Kerim. End flashback.

Fatma sticks to her hang up story. Kerim is ticked that Fatma didn’t tell him what she was planning to do. Because you exaggerate everything and I wanted to handle it quietly, she replies. Ok, Kerim says, let’s file the complaint. You’re coming with me, she asks? Yep. She has no choice. She can’t believe he followed her.

Fatmagul #35 part 2

Mustafa calls Rose Kitchen. No one is there. Munir pays him a visit at work. Everyone is worried about their jobs. Munir admits they have problems. It’s a difficult situation. The embargoes are at the door (property seizures). Mustafa stands to lose his car which is registered to the company. Musto says if they take his car, Munir will owe him one.

Munir says Mustafa has received more than he deserves. [Turkish] But I know you have your eye on more and that will cost you dearly. Speak Turkish, Mustafa says. Munir says: Meltem. You’re swimming in the wrong sea. Musto plays dumb. Munir tells him that Selim knows what is going on between him and Meltem. Musto tries to laugh it off. You’re crazy, he tells Munir. Munir says he tried to tell Selim this wasn’t true. But if Resat finds out… plans will change.

Musto says this is just another trap for him, it won’t succeed. You owe me until the trial is over. And this is why I’m trying to protect you, stupid, Munir replies. If Resat finds out, he won’t move an eyelash for you. Be careful, Munir warns, that’s all I’m saying.

Ha, we get another advertisement, this time an online shopping platform: Hepsiburada.com - “it’s all here”. I see ads for them when I live stream a dizi. She buys stuff for herself and Gaye. She is shopping at home because the press is surrounding the house. They talk about the trip to America. Meltem is less than enthused. Gaye says at least she won’t be here when Selim gets out of jail. Meltem is ticked that everyone thinks he will go free. She hates him more each day and wants him to get the punishment he deserves.

Vural makes his cell debut. Erdo gives him a warm welcome. Vural looks shell shocked. Selim looks as depressed as Vural. He tells Vural that Meltem divorced him. Vural says he needs to get out of there, he will go crazy. Erdo gives a pep talk. We will get out of here and get revenge.

Kerim and Fatma take care of the paperwork. He looks at her awful ID pic. It was taken the day they married. Kerim goes to hand in the paper and Fatma looks at the note in her pocket. They leave together. Fatma says where is the truck? He took a taxi. Fatma smiles, did you tell the driver, “follow that car”, like they do in the movies? Kerim is not amused.

Can you believe Salih advises Muka to have an abortion? Nothing to think about, he says, you can’t have it. I can’t take care of it. You would have to go back to your husband. Don’t be silly, she replies, how can I go back after all this? Salih says, if you want to stay with me, you have to have the abortion. How can I take care of another man’s child [he left out: I couldn’t even take care of my own.] Muka says he’s doing the same thing again. Salih shows his true colors again, he keeps insisting that she take care of this.

Kerim has called his boss, he’s not going to work today. He’s staying at the restaurant. He asks Fatma, don’t hide anything from me again. And don’t blame me for following you. [Turkish] I wouldn’t have been this worried if you told me the truth.

You didn’t follow me because you were worried, she replies, seems like I’m not the only one with trust issues. You don’t trust me either. It’s because I don’t know what you are thinking, he tells her. You never talk about what you think or what you feel. I’ll never get to know what you want. Fatma says she’s not one to talk much.

Kerim says, you never say anything about us. I can’t break down this wall between us. I can’t get any closer. This has been a long process, she says. I never believed that things would happen as they did. At the beginning, you were one of my enemies. But now… He asks, now? She takes a moment and says, when we spoke and I told you I wanted to get better, I told you I wanted to trust someone again… now I feel safe with you. There’s a look between them!

Fatmagul #35 part 3

Kerim takes her hand and brings it up to his face. He kisses her palm. She does not pull away and looks at him, looks at her hand. Thank you, Kerim says. She takes her hand away slowly and he goes to set the tables. They both try to process what just happened.

Murat gets restless as they wait for Meryem to finish her testimony. It was hard for her. Now they can head for the airport. Murat whines about calling his mother again. Kadir catches up with Omer. He says remember Hacer Ovacik? I found out who she is. She is a prostitute under the name of Asude Unsalan. Everyone calls her Asu. What?!

Asu pays a visit to Sami. He’s surprised to see her. What happened? Is the honeymoon over? Maybe you’re coming back to work? Asu gives him a fat envelope. This is yours. You didn’t know what you were going to do when you arrived in Istanbul. It’s not too late to change your destiny. Leave this business, she tells him. This isn’t the right way to live, you know it. Take this money and go back to your city. You can open a business and have a good life. Sami asks if this is a joke.

Asu says, how long will you be Bilal’s peon? Don’t let him use you for his dirty work. I’m giving you an opportunity to turn the page. Do it for your own good. Where did you get this money, he asks? Is Mustafa rich now? She doesn’t answer those questions. I’m leaving this place soon, she says, and you should go. Leave this crap hole and get clean.

Where are you going, he asks? Someplace. Is Mustafa going with you, he asks? She gives an uh,hum and Sami detects a lie. Did he give you money to leave? Asu gets up. Promise me you will go back to your town, she says. Okay, he replies, but I don’t understand why you are doing this.

We were like street dogs. We worked together. We fought a lot. I know you only did what they asked you to do. You mistreated me. [Turkish] But I also saw the good man inside you and I want you to give that man a better life. Asu, you devastated me, he says. He asks her not to go yet. Let’s talk and let me think about it. Bye, Sami. They hug. He tells her she is special. She leaves.

Meryem wonders what they are planning to do with Asu. Kadir says they are going to slander Fatma and say she was friends with her. Meryem says this was Mustafa’s doing.

Resat and Munir meet with some employees, Mustafa included. No idea who these people are. But Resat has filled them in on the business bankruptcy. He asks them to stay calm while they try to find a solution. Munir steps out to take a call. Others leave and Mustafa stays behind. He tells Resat he can’t say he’s sorry. Resat gets an important call and returns to his office.

Mustafa leaves and overhears Resat tell his caller, excellent, I like it. It means that Turaner is finished. I am going to ruin him. Aykut Berkol has the documents? Mustafa gets a pad and pen and eavesdrops some more when Munir and Resat talk.

Munir asks if there is proof of a bribe. Resat says Berkol has the record of the money Turaner gave him. He was afraid his political career would end, Resat says, but this will be much worse. What company would want to consult with someone who committed bribery? He could even go to jail. Resat and Munir laugh. [What will Mustafa do with this info?]

Emre stops by Rose Kitchen. He tells them he is starting his military service. He’s leaving in July. He wants to have a party before he goes. Fatma says they could have it here. Emre wants a men only party. He tells Fatma if you allow it, I’d like Kerim to be there, too. That gets a big smile from Kerim and a little one from Fatma.

Fatmagul #35 part 4

The phone rings and Kerim goes to answer. It’s Kadir checking in from the airport. He asks about Fatma. Kerim tells him everything is fine. We went to the prosecutor together. Uh, oh. Fatma wants the phone. Kadir says, she finally told you. Yes, she did. Kerim says, we filed the complaint like you said. And the paper, Kadir asks? What paper, Kerim replies. Fatma demands the phone. Kadir says the check. Kerim has no idea what he’s talking about, and he asks Fatma. Kadir says they will talk when he returns. Kerim presses for more. Kadir hurries off the phone.

Fatma is ticked at Kerim for not letting her talk to Kadir. Kerim wants to know what Kadir was talking about. He asked about the check. What check? I don’t know, Fatma replies. Don’t lie, Kerim says. He’s ticked. Answer me! Okay, she’ll tell. But promise you will stay calm. She shows him the note.

He was here, Kerim asks? Fatma has to admit it. But nothing happened, she replies. Kerim begins to shout, you served him? Fatma asks him not to shout. I asked if you served him! Fatma says she had to. There were other customers, Nalan Hanım and her friend! Kerim is furious. Why did you do it?! Fatma says he sat and left.

Kerim starts knocking over chairs. He sat here? or here? He shouts and knock over a few more chairs. Fatma gets scared and shouts, enough! Kerim is wild. He was near you! Why didn’t you tell me? Why?! Fatma says because I was scared. [Turkish] I was scared he would pull you into his trap. He wants to provoke you. I was scared for you, she cries, he wants to hurt you! He wants to separate us! Fatma sobs.

Kerim’s fire dies out. He gently puts his arms around his crying wife and apologizes. [this should be a new drinking game, Kerim apologizing] He can’t separate us, Kerim tells her. I’m never going to leave you. He will kill you, Fatma sobs. No he can’t, Kerim assures her, everything will be alright. Don’t cry. I’m sorry. Please don’t hide anything from me. And Fatma wants Kerim to promise he won’t go to see Mustafa. There’s a barely perceptible nod from Kerim.

Kerim wants to know exactly what happened. He came yesterday? Fatma nods. Kerim picks up the chairs and they sit. I’m listening, he says.

Ender is tired of being hounded about the divorce. She can’t wait to get away from it all. Gaye says Meltem doesn’t want to think about it. Ender is surprised, she would have thought she would the one most interested in going.

Meltem gets a call from Mustafa. I told you not to call, she says. He’s not calling for himself or calling because he’s thinking about her, which he does. I’m calling about your father, he tells her, Resat is conspiring against him.

Everyone is home again. Kadir is with them. They talk about the Mustafa incident. Kerim is still ticked that Fatma didn’t tell him. They could have presented the note and filed a complaint against Mustafa. Fatma says when they find out he’s calling, then the paper will be more important. Kadir says he will bring the note tomorrow.

Meryem begs Kerim not to look for Mustafa. Yeah, Kerim replies, I’m supposed to stay calm so he can do whatever he wants? You promised, Fatma reminds him. He is harassing us, Kerim replies. He took advantage of my wife when she was alone in our restaurant so she would serve him, and he left a note at the door. Kadir says he will talk to Mustafa. Kerim isn’t satisfied with that. Fatma says this is why she didn’t want to tell him.

Fatmagul #35 part 5

Kerim thinks someone must stop Mustafa and Rahmi agrees. Meryem is frustrated with them. Kadir says not to worry, he will give Mustafa a little scare. Rahmi says Kadir should talk about Hacer Ovacik, too. Fatma asks, who is Hacer Ovacik? Neither Fatma nor Kerim know. Meryem says it’s Asu. Fatma asks what’s up with her. Kerim knows—she can testify against you. Fatma gasps and Kerim goes off again on Mustafa. I swear I’m going to kill that man! I swear I’ll finish him!

Mustafa visits the Alagozes and tells them what he overheard. Turaner is skeptical. Why should he believe one of Yasaran’s men? Maybe this is a trap. Musto is only telling what he heard. He has no idea who Berkol is or what he does. But obviously you do, he tells Turaner. Ender realizes Turaner could go to jail. She is also curious why Mustafa is telling them this.

Meltem sees Mustafa to the door. Mustafa says he upset her father. So now you decide to be honest, Meltem replies, you’re trying to relieve your guilt this way? Mustafa answers, [Turkish] I’m trying to win your love. He gives her a quick kiss on the lips. Meltem responds, if you touch me again, I’ll never forgive you. Are you sure about that, Mustafa asks as he leaves.

Meltem turns to go back inside, and Gaye is standing there. Uh, oh. I can’t believe you, Gaye says, is this why you don’t want to go? Don’t be silly, Meltem says, be quiet. When they return, Ender says they are leaving first thing in the morning. We see Mustafa driving and he’s looking pleased with himself. [so the Yasaran ship is sinking and he thinks he can take an Alagoz lifeboat?]

Erdo and Selim make dinner. Erdo complains that another cellmate took eggs that weren’t his. Whatever. Vural is in his bunk and another cellmate pulls up a chair. Is this your first time locked up? I’ve heard you wake up screaming. Why are you so scared? Selim steps in, leave him alone. This guy accuses the ricos of looking down on them even though they committed the same crime. At least I committed the crime without help. Vural attacks the guy. They have to be separated.

Erdo sees that someone took more of their dinner during the scuffle. Vural says if he gets out, he won’t stay around. Selim says he knows what he will do, take revenge.
Fatma tells Kerim that Asu’s testimony won’t change anything. Kerim thinks it will confuse the judge. Fatma says she came looking for us. Emre is our witness. Kerim reminds her Emre is leaving for military service. Maybe he can put it off a couple of days.
Rahmi and Meryem say goodnight to Kadir out front. Meryem looks at Kadir as he walks away. [hmm…]

Murat is up when Rahmi enters the house. He has the phone and wants to call his mother. He argues with his father. Murat bites Rahmi and runs into the bedroom, I don’t love you! Kerim goes to see Murat. Meryem says don’t take your anger for Muka out on Murat. Rahmi says that he’s not angry, he’s afraid that Murat will leave. Fatma and Meryem tell him that Murat needs his mother, too.

Kerim carries Murat back into the room. Murat says he didn’t mean to say those things, he loves you very much, Rahmi. Rahmi hugs Murat and apologizes.
Muka and Salih. Another couple I can’t stand to watch. They bicker about him seeing his kids, the abortion, blah, blah, blah.

Munir visits with Asu. They found out who you are. Munir loosens his tie and asks if she has something to drink, maybe whiskey? She has nothing. Munir wants to keep talking but Asu wants to go to bed early. She says if he wants to talk he can do it by telephone. Munir asks if she is afraid of Mustafa. He can go to hell, Asu replies.

Fatmagul #35 part 6

Munir takes her hand and asks her to sit on the couch with him. She pulls back, don’t touch me! You said Mustafa’s not coming back, he says, what’s the problem. Asu stands up, listen, our deal will be over in a few days, you can see me at the trial.

Munir gets up and gets close to her, but I want to see you whenever. He touches her face. Really, she replies. He moves in for a kiss and she hits him where it hurts most. [I like to think she did this for all of us.] She opens the door and tells him to leave. In Turkish she told him to f*ck off! Munir says if it wasn’t for the trial… Asu warns him not to bother her or she won’t go to court.

Perihan cries over childhood pics of Selim. Should we care? Discuss if you do.

Fatma finishes in the kitchen. Meryem comes in. They see Kerim sitting outside. Fatma says his silence scares her. Meryem says she will talk to him.

Fatma brings water to Meryem’s room and sees the rose in a glass of water. It’s nothing, she says, it’s from Izmir when we had dinner. Who? Kadir Bey… you know how those flower girls are. He had to buy a flower. Meryem is a bit flustered. Fatma asks if they were alone. Yes. Fatma says, you had dinner together, he bought you a rose and you didn’t throw it out. She smiles at Meryem.

Meryem says that’s it, nothing else happened. I believe you, Fatma replies, what did you talk about. Meryem says Kadir is an interesting man, did you know he used to write poetry? He is very sensitive, he has had to deal with so many things during his life. He told me about his alcoholism, that he has overcome it. And about his wife. He is a lonely man. Even if there are many around him, he prefers solitude. Poor guy.

I think he’s not alone anymore, Fatma says. That’s exactly what he said, Meryem replies, he considers us his family. He said, “Fatmagul is like a daughter to me”. How nice of him, Fatma says. I thought so too, Meryem answers. There is nothing between us, but he is a nice man. It was nice to meet him in this way. Fatma agrees and puts her arm around Meryem. [Turkish] It’s not like we will always be disappointed in life, she tells Meryem, there will be good things as well. Inshallah.

Kerim enters the kitchen and sees them together. What’s happening? Nothing, Fatma replies, we were talking. Good night. Fatma leaves.

Meryem tells Kerim it wasn’t anything bad. Only that Fatma is worried. She is afraid you will go after Mustafa. Please don’t do it. Kerim says not to worry, he won’t. Kerim closes the kitchen door so not to be heard. Fatmagul’s birthday is coming, he says, I saw it on the documents at the prosecutor’s office. June 8. Meryem is relieved she thought he was going to tell her something bad. We have to do something, don’t you think?

The smile leaves Meryem’s face when Kerim says, I suppose that “he” also knows and will try to come near her. Meryem says, he can’t do anything. Kadir will talk to him and scare him. Kerim is not so sure about that. Meryem asks him not to do anything he will regret. Kerim gets upset, that’s enough! You already told me the same thing 40 times. He goes to the shed.

Rahmi drops Murat at school. He reminds the teacher that Murat can’t go with anyone but him. Uh, oh, Muka is inside the school speaking with the director. Murat runs to his mother. He asks if his mother is taking him. The director says no, your mother will see you here. You can’t go without your father’s permission. You can be here with your mother. Muka says this is only for now. Muka thanks the teacher and director.

Fatmagul #35 part 7

Murat asks his mother where she was. She deflects. She asks him not to tell his father about this. It’s our secret, okay? Murat says he doesn’t lie. But if you tell, she says, he won’t let me see you again. Murat asks for her phone number so he can call. Muka says she doesn’t have a phone now but she will give him the number when she gets one.

Muka tries to get info on what happened in Izmir. Did they testify? Did they talk about me? Dad was angry and my aunt too. They said we didn’t need you, mom. We will see who needs who, Muka says.

Meryem and Fatma are working at the restaurant. They haven’t been able to reach Kerim. His boss told Meryem he was working in the Metro (subway). Meryem tells Fatma maybe he turned off his phone or he can’t get a signal underground. Nope, we see a very determined looking Kerim driving.

Cut: A neighbor stops by the door to say hello. Fatma is jumpy. She says she has become a coward, afraid of every voice. He really scared you, Meryem replies. So much, Fatma admits, I wanted to call Kerim right away. I thought he was going to harm me. Mustafa has become a very strange man. He somehow convinced himself I was cheating on him. Meryem says he’s just fooling himself to deal with his guilt.

Fatma agrees and says, there’s a weird look in his eyes. And he was reckless, threatening me when there were customers here. Thank God there were customers. Then he got a phone call, Fatma says, and he went off. He left saying, tell your husband I said hello. I’m watching you. He hasn’t called since. End of cut.

Fatma can’t shake the worry that Kerim will go looking for Mustafa. Don’t say that, don’t even think it, Meryem says, it’s time for work.

Mustafa shows up at work. Yasar tells him, there’s someone waiting for him. He’s been here since early this morning. I saw him at the opening of the restaurant. It’s Kadir. Mustafa is disappointed, he thought it was Kerim. He didn’t dare come so he sent you, Musto says. Don’t kill the messenger, Kadir replies.

Meanwhile, Kerim arrives at Yasaran Holding, looking for Mustafa. He’s told Musto is in the truck park. Munir and Resat arrive and see Kerim in his truck. They follow him.
Kadir gives Musto a copy of the complaint Fatma filed. He shows the note and says this will be added to the file. The prosecutor assigned protection for us as well. Kadir warns, if you bother Fatmagul again, you will be caught. You could be sent to jail. I’m serious. Even if you come near by coincidence, they will take action against you.

Musto mocks, I’m so scared. You should be, Kadir replies. And you know what? You disappointed me again. You are slandering Fatmagul in a disgusting way. Musto doesn’t know what Kadir is saying. Kadir says, Hacer Ovacik—Asu, isn’t she your lover? Mustafa is stunned. Hacer Ovacik?

Kerim pulls up at the truck park. He shouts for Mustafa. Where are you? Mustafa goes out to confront. Musto asks, you got my message? Kadir pleads with Kerim, don’t do anything stupid [too late, he’s already there] Munir and Resat are there now.

Kerim tells Musto he must have a death wish. If you come near my wife again, I swear… What will you do, Mustafa shouts back. Kadir tries to restrain Kerim. Kerim yells at Musto, I will kill you. Munir gets his phone out to record. He threatened, “I’ll kill you”, you are all witnesses!

Kerim continues to shout despite Kadir. Stay away from my wife! You can’t separate us. You can’t trick us. Kadir shouts at Kerim to get back in his truck. She’s my wife, do you hear?! Did I make that clear, Resat? Do you understand, Munir?

Fatmagul #35 part 8

Kerim doesn’t stop, you can’t slander her, you can’t stain her name using lies and prostitutes! Kerim walks back to the truck, still shouting, your garbage will not stain her name! Leave Fatmagul alone! Kadir finally gets Kerim in the truck, but Kerim keeps shouting until Kadir gets in the truck and drives off.

Mustafa asks, you’re making Asu testify? Munir says, let’s go inside and I’ll tell you everything. Mustafa is not happy about this latest development. Munir tells him to calm down. All she is going to say is that Fatma stayed with her when she ran away. Another shocker for Mustafa. He thinks it can’t be true. Munir says Fatma stayed with her for two days. It’s in the file. I can show you if you want.

Mustafa thinks they made this up to slander Fatma. Listen, Munir says, I will show the testimony Kerim gave at the station. He also knows Asu. He went to pick up Fatma at her place. Mustafa is stunned. He doesn’t understand. Resat says there’s a lot he (Mustafa) doesn’t know.

Kadir is upset that Kerim did not keep his promise to stay away from Mustafa. [I think we all are.] Kerim says, I didn’t do anything [!] You saw. I only told him what I had to say. You’re not even listening to me, Kadir says. There isn’t any proof that he came to your house. Many people heard you threaten him. What you did was very stupid.

They thought they could scare us, Kerim says. Who cares what they think, Kadir replies.
I’m not afraid, Kerim says. Good for you, Kadir mocks. [Kerim just doesn’t get it and vows, if he comes near Fatmagul again, I swear to God this time I will kill him. I won’t let Fatmagul get hurt again.

And we are out.

Fatmagul

I think my part 3 became spam.

fatmagul

dondi356, I saw your message, went into the spam folder, and found two messages of yours. Part 3 and, I think, Part 8. I OK'ed both of them. Part 3 is now where it should be, but I don't see a Part 8.

fatmagul

I think all the parts are now in place, dondi356. I keep wishing we could figure out why this is happening.

Fatmagul

Dondi, thank you thank you! I just love reading all the happenings through your perspective and getting all the missed scenes and translations too of course!

Fatma making fun of Kerim for following her was funny! He kind of straddles the line between concerned husband and stalker at times and he crossed it this time. His POV was fair through. He has no idea where he stands and what she thinks or feels so that naturally makes him insecure. To see a grown man so excited by a palm kiss was hilarious and sweet. To see the same grown man throwing chairs around a restaurant and yelling at his wife because of something she had no control over was at cute at all! I remember saying weeks ago that he had poor impulse control and I still think that, he's a little hothead. As sweet as he is most of the time, I would never put up with the angry outbursts and fit throwing. It's incredibly childish but it's also really fascinating in this character if you consider so much of his identity was created around his dad abandoning him and then finding his mom dead when he was just six, he responds like an angry six year old every time he is provoked and he makes total sense but he still needs to stop. He's hurting his wife and playing right into Mustafa's game, not to mention Munir's!

Mustafa remains oddly fascinating. He's horrible but as I've said several times I would like him if he wasn't awful and unhinged. It was fun watching him enjoy Resat's pain. It's the hand that feeds him but he doesn't care he can't even his his amusement. He would be an excellent villain if he was more detached and if he wasn't so weak willed.

Muka pregnant? Poor kid, unless Sahli gets his way but I am guessing he won't.

I don't understand the whole Asu trying to rescue Sami thing, but I guess she was trying to rescue Mustafa when she met him too. Which reminds me of another thing from the other day, do we know why her father would be mad if he knew she called her mom? As it said why she is estranged from her parents? It's also really sad that in this day in age (or 2012 or whenever this was filmed) that you can slander someone in court just by suggesting they are friends with a prostitute. So what?? It's absolutely despicable that attacking someone's character (or even attempting to) is still okay as a tactic in a rape case. The court should be concerned with whether or not the rape occurred not whom the victim may or may not be friends with.

Kerim should ignore Mustafa. He never will but that would be the mist effective strategy in dealing with him. I bet it would drive him crazy if they just ignored his existence entirely - he might do something desperate and crazy then though.

I appreciate your comments dondi356. It is impossible to stay completely focused for these two-hour episodes especially when one is laughing at all the dramatics. I think Seraphina, the doll, is going to make a few more rounds before discovery, although it would sure add drama to have Hazar and Miran discover the truth while Reyyan is stumbling around trying to find herself.

Fatmaguel

'To see the same grown man throwing chairs around a restaurant and yelling at his wife because of something she had no control over was **not** cute at all...sorry typing on my phone, I should spell check lol

Thanks so very much, VVS, for another truly stellar recap! And the episode was pretty darned tedious. I was happy to read that other commenters were also "que the hell" with Reyyan's complete personality change. A lot of the dialog didn't even make sense to me. Finding out his sperm wasn't involved should not negate 20 years of being a loving father. And, yes, I agree with those who said he should have done more to protect her from Nasuh. But, until very recently, Hazar has appeared to worship his father.

The bright spot was that Azize, for some reason, didn't keep Gul longer as part of her revenge. Mahmoud just has no conscience at all. Whatever ghastly thing HAG has him do is A-OK with that guy. His face doesn't ever change expression. Could he be a robot?

VVS, I also noticed that GGs frailty seems to come and go from episode to episode. She quick stepped out of the Aslanbey konak, as I recall. Her telling off Sultana and Gonul for their participation in the fake wedding was the best part of the episode.

Sometimes I just feel like screaming at Esma's blind loyalty. I kept expecting she'd come home and find Gul there and accept that as well! Esma certainly knows everything and keeps quiet about it. I remember a scene where she was in HAG's bedroom and saw the burned back.

I thought Esma said that Sultana las tiró or threw her things away. I wouldn't have put it past Sultana, but they were only put in a cupboard. When Gonul went to join her in the kitchen she again called her "Nana".

I don't think Hazar is Azize's son. Haven't they said three sons and identified all of them. Of course, I am aware that our crockpot is "family sized" and has still more room for "ingredients".

I wasn't even thinking about the doll not leaving with Gul. Could Serafina be inside the backpack? Even if the doll is at Esma's konak, I doubt HAG would start fiddling with the zipper and find the letter. Of course, if she did, it would probably be torn up.

Fatmagul

Dear Dondi, thank you for providing us with every detail of this episode .

He had me at that palm kiss . Smooth ., sweet move...but then.. The chair kicking not so much . That hissy fit attack on the furniture reminded me of something Miran ( Hercai) or Sancar (La hija) would have done . Having watched a couple Turkish dizi s , it seems that if you are a macho macho man galan, you are expected to do a lot of huffing and puffing and punching and yelling " I'm going to kill you\him\them. " Evidently these guys are high maintenance as opposed to the strong silent John Wayne heroes.

Oh, Muka , you are your own worst enemy . She runs off to the guy who beat her in the street. Really ? I

I have a suspicion that Mustafa might have been a virgin with his helicopter parents watching his every move . However, now he has become quite promiscuous ..Asu and now Meltem .

I am finally caught up. I really appreciate your heroic recaps, dondi! They seem to be moving toward this big trial at a snail's pace. I keep hoping for a time skip.

I am quite confused about what happened to put the Yasarans into bankruptcy, but this doesn't mean I necessarily need an explanation. I think the financial stuff isn't that important to the main theme (at least to me) of Fatmagul falling in love with Kerim.

I thought Kadir grabbed Munir's phone and maybe has that recording of Kerim threatening Mustafa, but maybe I imagined it.

Why is Salih so insistent about the abortion? As far as I was able to tell from the plan Munir cooked up with Salih, Salih is supposed to get Muka to either remain silent or testify against Fatmagul. That trial is imminent, so why does he care if she's pregnant if he plans to mollify his wife and go back to his life with her and his daughters?

Mustafa appears to me to be on his way to a very bad end. For a while I thought he and Asu would be together and he'd get over himself. I thought that especially after Fatmagul chose Kerim in that scene in the open field. But, no, he's the regular "other man" we see so often in telenovelas that never gives up.

I don't have a good feeling about the trial. Munir has managed to muddy the water with his dirty tricks. I have a bad feeling the ricos won't be convicted and we'll see Erdogan stalking Fatmagul. Mustafa and Asu have been lined up to lie in court. Of course Fatmagul will end up happy with Kerim; that's been clear from the very beginning. But I don't want to watch her lose the case. Don't think I really need to say this, but those who have seen it before should not reassure me!

Fatmagul

Thank you, dondi356.

Nice moment between Fatmagul and Kerim. Eye contact, sharing. When he kissed her palm they added a tinkling sound effect, like a spark, tingling. If at that moment Kerim asked her anything that required voice response, like what time it is, she would not be able to answer, her breath was locked.

It was an amusing conversation between Meryem and Fatmagul about Kadir. "I think he’s not alone anymore, Fatma says." Fatmgul is discreet.

Asu surprised me by giving money to Sami. Not sure what to make of it.

Novelera, the Yeserans had several big time loans out with several banks. Meltem's dad (can't remember how to spell his name) first tanked their land deal they had been trying to do together and then somehow influenced the banks to call in the loans immediately. Must have had some clause in the contract allowing them to demand full payment on the loan at will. The Yeserans didn't have enough dinero to make full payment, that is what put them in bankruptcy. I think it's probably only important because this Resat and Munir are now plotting against Meltem's dad because of the bankruptcy and this appears to be Mustafa's in with Meltem....who has truly awful taste in men.

I have also wondered the Mahmoud attachment to Azize, novelera. He was going to shoot himself in the head to prove his loyalty and lies to little girls with no expression change. Indeed, he could be a robot. Thank goodness Azize let Gul go pretty quickly. I hope Esma finds Serafina and returns her to Gul. The bond with Esma and Azize is another strange mystery to unravel.

Hercai2: #27 - p 1 of 4
As the episode begins, we see Sultana revelling in her new position. She has apparently moved into Azize's room and redecorated it. Gonul comes in and tells her not to envy Azize. "Why would I envy her?" asks Sultana. "For her power," replies Gonul. "She has hurt you so much that now you are power-hungry. She has even taken my brother from you. But even if you move into this room and become mistress of the house, you won't be like Azize Aslanbey, because you're not evil and you're not crazy." Sultana says, "I know I can only change the decor of the room, but you, Gonul, could change the destiny of the family." Gonul replies enigmatically, "Everything will come out tonight, mother."

Reyyan is sitting by the window in Sukran's house, looking out through the bars. She's writing a letter to her mother, Zehra. "Everything has changed, and I have, too," she writes. "In the past, faced with disappointments, I was always able to pick myself up and carry on. This time, I can't."

The scene changes. It's night, and there's a thunderstorm. Gonul seems to be digging at a cemetary grave, but I can't read the headstone. The rain is pouring down on her, but she continues to dig. She finds a very small chest. Inside, it contains a note that looks much more recent than the chest. It says "Your brother is alive. Don't trust Azize Aslanbey. Be patient and keep quiet." [Huh? How did Gonul come to dig here? And who left the note?]

Reyyan goes to a mailbox and drops in the letter to her mother. As she does so, she thinks to herself, "The saddest thing is to find your life is a lie." [Oh, come on, Reyyan!] She continues her thought: "The Sadoglu mansion was never mine. You [Mama] are responsible for this lie, so you should know about this."

The pity party continues. Hazar looks at a photo of his family. He's crying. He wants to go back to the way things were before, when Reyyan was a little girl and Hazar could help her with a hug. We get a flashback to a young Reyyan having fallen and hurt her knee. Hazar kisses her knee and offers to take her for sweets. She feels much better. A kiss from Papa cures everything. In the present, Hazar wonders how he is supposed to repair this damage. Reyyan enters the Sadoglu konak and calls "Papa!" He comes, as does everyone else in the konak [they're all named Papa?]. Reyyan announces that she has made a decision. She could never be independent and happy, there was always something crushing her dreams. "You all hurt me. The people I called my family." She goes up to Azat, Cihan, Handan, Nasuh, and finally Hazar. She describes how each one has hurt her. "You hurt me most, Papa, by hiding the truth. I want to live alone and make my own decisions by myself." Miran is there, watching and listening. Reyyan ignores him, walking right past him without stopping [but she does look back]. She leaves the konak and closes the door.

Miran, Hazar, Nasuh, and Azat all come after her. Where will you live alone? she is asked. "I don't know," she replies, "but I don't want my destiny to be in the hands of others." Nasuh says it's all his fault. Everyone gets into the act. "I have to get away from the family," insists Reyyan, "from all the people who put me in this situation." Suddenly Gul appears. "Are you going to leave me, too?" she asks. For once, Gul's pleas don't change things. "I need to be alone for a while," Reyyan explains to her. "But I'll come to see you soon." She says to Hazar, "I don't want to live with your lies any longer." [And if I weren't recapping, I might not continue to listen to her any longer.] Miran offers to take her wherever she wants to go.

Hercai2: #27 - p 2 of 4
Looking at Hazar and Miran, Reyyan says, "Both of you are responsible for how I feel. I can't stay. Don't follow me! She goes off and they return to the konak, where Azat, Nasuh, and Hazar play "I'm to blame." Elif is troubled by Azat's behavior. "Why are you so bothered?" she asks him. "Are you bothered by what happened or because you can't be with Reyyan?" Azat tells her to stop talking. Never missing a chance to criticize Elif, Handan tells her that she's only making matters worse.

The scene shifts to a very wet Gonul, who is walking and holding very close to her the chest with the note. She carries it almost as if it were a religious object. She enters the Aslanbey konak. Ayise, Sultana's new maid, sees her. She thinks to herself, "To confront Azize Aslanbey, you have to be able to play in the major leagues (las ligas mayores). Let's see how you do, Gonul." [This adds to my sense that Ayise is not just an obedient maid.]

Harun and Yaren arrive at the hotel. He refers to her as his dear esposa. She tells him to save such nonsense for when he sees her parents.

Gonul clutches the chest to her body. "I know now that you're alive," she says, addressing her still absent brother. "I won't say a word until you arrive. I'll silence anyone who wants to talk." In her room, she takes out another slightly larger chest. She unlocks it and removes Firat's adoption paper. "I'm sorry, Firat," she says. "I made a promise to my brother."

Back at the hotel, Harun tells Yaren to shower, she smells terrible. He then takes out a pistol and tosses it onto the bed. Of course, Yaren quickly grabs it, points it at him and threatens, "Let me out of this marriage or I'll kill you!" A totally calm Harun replies, "You are my wife. This is our wedding night. Go ahead. Shoot me. I'm waiting." She tries, but she finds that the gun's not loaded. Harun just laughs. He asks, did she really think he was an imbecile who would leave a loaded pistol on the bed? They squabble, and finally he tells her "you smell like goat manure, go clean yourself up. There are some women's clothes in the closet. Use them."

Gonul sees Firat pass by her window. She calls to him. When he comes in, she hands him the adoption certificate with his name on it. "It's another lie," she tells him. It's fake. I believed Azize that you were my brother. But he is really dead." [Didn't she just say he was alive?] Firat is astonished at what she's telling him. He protests, "She (Azize) wouldn't do this! She wouldn't!" Firat takes the adoption document and goes off to confront Azize. Though Gonul tries to stop him, apparently she is happy that "the legal owner" will confront her.

Handan keeps asking where Yaren is. "I'm going to find her. No one can stop me!" Suddenly, Handan doubles over in pain. She says, "Call the midwife."

Azat is sitting alone in his car, thinking "Reyyan, I was just trying to protect you." Eventually, he decides, "You can only blame yourself, Azat, and no one else. But Reyyan has gone away." [A male voice that sounds somewhat like Azat's starts talking: "I've seen several women, some lovers, some wives..." The voice goes on and on, as wel watch Reyyan arrive at a train station. I have no idea whose voice this is, or what the point is.]

Zehra calls Reyyan. Reyyan doesn't want to answer the phone. She knows her mother will tell her to go back. "When you read the letter, you'll know how I feel, Mama" she thinks. But finally Reyyan does answer. It's not just a voice call, it's a video call. Zehra at times senses that Reyyan is unhappy, but Reyyan puts on a happy face and denies that there's anything wrong.

Hercai2: #27 - p 3 of 4
Zehra confides that her baby will be a girl. She then says that things haven't always worked out as she wanted, but "everything is written," so there's nothing to be done. But, she goes on, "I would have liked to decide my own destiny." Reyyan continues to pretend that all is well, and the call ends.

Miran and Hazar decide that Reyyan is likely to be at Sukran's. Miran knocks loudly on the door. When Sukran comes to the door, Miran asks forcefully, "Where is Reyyan?" Sukran yells at him. "You've tormented that girl!" She tells Hazar to find her. She tells Miran, "Try to heal her heart or don't come back." Sukran asks Hazar to keep her informed. Hazar decides to look for her at the hotel. Miran will try the cabin.

Reyyan isn't at either place. Instead, she's at a train station. She imagines a young Reyyan is sitting next to her asking, "Are you going to abandon your father?" Reyyan tells her younger self, "I'll go somewhere far away." A train arrives. Reyyan gets up and boards the train. There seem to be no other passengers. Her younger self says, "Don't leave. Don't abandon me." Reyyan replies, "I'm not a child." The train pulls out of the station...but then we see Reyyan standing on the other side of the tracks. Her younger self looks very happy.

We see that Handan has faked her labor pains. Another woman advises her on how to make them more authentic. When Nasuh and Cihan come in, Handan screams again. "Where is my daughter?" she asks. A shaken Nasuh tells her, "With her esposo." Cihan is enraged that no one consulted them or told them that there was a wedding. Cihan demands to know where the couple are. "At the hotel," Nasuh replies.

Cihan goes to the hotel to find Yaren. She tells him, "You got rid of me like a bag of garbage [Yup!] Cihan asks, "Have you ever asked why this is happening to you?"
He says "Let's go home." Yaren looks surprised. Cihan tells her, "Your mother had contractions, and she won't go to the hospital until she sees you."

Firat storms angrily into the place in Kars where Esma and Azize are living. "I want an explanation!" he demands. He tells Esma that Azize lied to Gonul, telling her that he was her brother. He also asks about the adoption certificate. He tells Azize, "Your grandchildren no longer respect you, abuela." When she asks what has happened to the Firat she raised, he replies, "The Firat you created is dead. You killed him."

Both Hazar and Miran wind up at Azize's place in Kars looking for Reyyan. Azize observes to Hazar, "Every time you lose a child you come looking for her here." [One point for Azize] Meanwhile, Firat is pleading with Esma to leave Azize and come with him. Esma just stands there like a statue. Firat leaves. He's very upset. Miran, too, is outside. He tells Firat, "I asked Esma to stay with Azize. It will only be for a short while." A stunned Firat wants to know why Miran did this. Miran tells him "We'll talk about it later." Firat understandably thinks they should talk now. Miran says, "Reyyan found out that Hazar is not her biological father. I have to find her." An angry Firat replies, "She's not lost. She's running from you because you made her regret loving you, caring for you, being by your side." Miran punches Firat hard in the face.

Azize thinks to herself, "My own family is rebelling and betraying me." She summons Robot Mahmoud and tells him to keep an eye on Gonul and report back everything she does.

Hercai2: #27 - p 4 of 4
Handan insists that Yaren stay with them, at least until she and Harun have their own house. Nasuh hears her demand and leaves without saying a word. Yaren and Harun then go to Yaren's room. Yaren tells Harun that "these papers don't convert us into man and wife." Harun claims they are man and wife "until death do us part." Yaren points out that death could come soon. "Think about it," she tells him. Harun replies, "I assure you that your hell is just beginning. Go shower. Your odor is awful."

Reyyan is still at the train station. She thinks, "My entire childhood is based on a lie." [The recapper is having a very hard time reporting this nonsense.]

Hazar is sitting near Dilsah's tomb, asking "Where are you, hija? Where are you, Reyyan, my life?"

Miran is at the swing. "Have you given up on us, Reyyan?" He then yells as loud as he can, "Reyyan, where are you?"

Reyyan is still at the train station, sitting on a bench, almost asleep. She remembers a happier time at the swing. "I'm the princess in the fairy tale," she tells her father. "And that makes you the king." But where is Prince Miran? She sees Miran, but then realizes her father has disappeared. Then Miran, too, disappears.

Suddenly, Firat appears at the station. Apparently the train station guard called. Firat tells her, "You can't run away from yourself. I saw Miran. He's looking for you with your father." Reyyan tells him, "I want to be able to breathe again. My loved ones hurt me, not life." Firat agrees. "We did it. I, Miran, Azize, the Aslanbey did it to you. I'm ashamed to look you in the eye, but if there's any way I can help, tell me." "Don't tell my father where I am," Reyyan replies. Firat reports that Miran is devastated, and so is he. Firat then offers, "Let me take you where you'll be safe." Reyyan says she loves Sukran, but she's Miran's abuela. Then Reyyan says, "Can I ask you something? Did Azize know?" [I assume she means did she know about Hazar not being Reyyan's bio daddy.] Firat replies, "Had you asked me a few days ago, I'd have said no. Now, I don't know."

The scene shifts to Kars. A door opens and Azize says, "Come in, Esma." When Esma doesn't appear, Azize asks "Why are you hiding, Esma?" Reyyan appears. "I want to have a conversation." And with that, the episode ends.

Excellent recap Juanita ! What a pity-fest this episode was too! These people truly don’t know the meaning of “ I need a moment,” do they!?!? Reyyan needed to get off her chest what she had too, what’s been building basically since she was a child, and then she CLEARLY needs some time to process all of it! I don’t think it’s smart for her ( or Gonul ) to be traipsing around in the dark—— the world’s a dangerous place, especially for two pretty young women, but I guess the added “ effect” to their situations was called for. Talk about smothering the heck out of a person though! Let the girl find herself! Even if it’s in a dark, cold, open train station with nobody around but my younger me! I woulda took a train ride myself——- safer and warmer!

I don’t like Gonul using Firat like that! That was a serious bitch move and she should confronted Azize herself! Azize don’t give a damn though about anything anybody does. It’s almost like she’s anticipating the rebellion among her grandkids now. Azize always has this weird smile on her face when she’s confronted by anyone, like she’s saying “ bring it!” It just feeds her ire and determination more. They really need to stop confronting her and ignore the hell out of her! I’m sure that will bother her more!

Sick of Handan, and Yaren is CRAZY! Crazier than a babbling loon on crack! Whoever that voice was that was describing “women” pointed out that some women have demons, and Yaren was forefront when he said it! Cihan and Handan don’t truly see it yet, but it’s bound to happen ——sooner than later I hope! Harun thinks she’s just a bad seed, but she’s CRAZY! Mental ward nuts!

Someone mentioned in an earlier post that they thought Miran asked Esma to stay with Azize. Is that the only reason Esma would do that though? And why is she more loyal to Miran than her own son? That’s really got to hurt Firat. Seems Firat and Mahmoud have better connections than the Sadoglus! They found both Gul and Reyyan in a hot minute, lol!

The voice of young Reyyan is the same voice of Gul……just an observation.

Thanks again Juanita!

Fatmagul

Thanks for your kind words and comments, everyone. So glad you’re sticking with it, novelera.

Darcy, I look at Kerim’s behavior as an overcompensation. Or maybe a part of him got stuck in the trauma he suffered at six, hence “his childish behavior”. He couldn’t save his mother, and he did nothing to save Fatma. And yeah, he’s insecure and jealous because he can’t be sure Fatma is completely over Mustafa. I know you don’t watch Hercai, but that galan has emotional outbursts like a three year old. He was that age when both of his parents died, assumed to be murdered.

Mustafa has gone to the dark side. The bible says “the love of money is the root of all evil.” And he is continuing to ruin women’s lives. Fatma, Asu, Meltem. He’s breaking his beloved mother’s heart, although I have little pity for that witch.

Asu and Sami were partners in crime, so to speak. I wasn’t surprised she wanted to help him. She said she saw the good in him, in spite of the bad. Is he a redeemable character?

Susanlynn, yes the palm kiss. Engin’s gaze. I’ll put up with the other ish, just to watch him work that magic.

novelera, I think you are right that Kadir took a swipe at Munir’s phone. I don’t know if he managed to get it. Don’t know if it matters, there were plenty of witnesses and Kadir can’t deny it.

Recap up shortly.

Fatmagul #36 part 1

What do ya know… Mustafa’s key doesn’t fit in Asu’s lock anymore. A neighbor comes by and tells him Asu went on vacation. She left with her suitcase this morning. I’m taking care of her plants. Do you know when she will be back? A week, 10 days. Neighbor adds, she changed the lock.

Mustafa calls and leaves a message for Asu. It’s Mustafa, I came to see you. I miss you very much. I need to talk to you. Please call me, I love you. [but does he really?]

Kerim is working alone at night, Fatma shows up. You promised me, she says. He says nothing. Look at me, she says. I’m very sorry, he tells her. Everything we said was for nothing, she asks? Are you happy you did this now? It’s not like that, he replies. Where did you go after that, she asks. Kadir brought the car back. You didn’t come to the restaurant either. I called you many times. Meryem was worried. Where were you? I’ll tell you tomorrow, he answers.

She’s scared. You did something? Please tell me what you did. Tomorrow, he repeats. She calls him out. I can’t hide anything, but you can. Where were you? It’s nothing bad, he says. Then tell me, she insists.

Kerim leaves the room and comes back with a big white box. I wanted to give you this tomorrow, for your birthday. Fatma is surprised. Open it, he tells her. You were looking for a present for me? He nods, that’s right. She opens it. It’s a white wedding dress. She is stunned. He gives her that gaze and asks, Fatmagul, Benimle evlenir misin? --Will you marry me? She can’t speak. She can’t stay. She walks out.

Kerim chases her. Fatmagul, I’m sorry. I didn’t want to hurt you. I thought that… She starts crying, I know, I know. It’s not your fault, it’s mine. [Turkish] You must think “we are married, she held my hand, too, she touched me.” No, Kerim says, it’s for a new beginning. That dress is not the same for me as for other women, she tells him. He knows. [Turkish] You laid my whole life out in front of me again, she says. Everything I wanted to forget. White… reminds me of how impure I am.

Kerim says, look at me. I want us to begin from zero and forget the rest. Okay, maybe not now, but you will wear that dress one day…. to be able to leave it all behind. I want this more than anything, she replies. Kerim says, we can do it if you let me. If you let me help you, we can get rid of the bad memories that open the wounds of the past. I want that more than anything, she sobs. He gives her a hug.

Meltem shows up at Mustafa’s. They meet on the stairs. He’s pleasantly surprised. I came to tell you you’re right about what you said, she admits. Is that why you came, he asks? I want to talk to you, she says. They enter his place. She starts, I wanted to see you before I left. I’m going to the US. I want to prevent you from doing this. You are declaring war (on the Yasarans). He ignores that and asks how long will you be gone? She doesn’t know. Are you escaping Selim, he asks? That’s not it, she replies. Then you are escaping from me, he says and puts his hand on her face.

She removes his hand and says she isn’t escaping anyone. This was my father’s decision. Meltem asks him what he’s trying to do. You allied with them to ruin that poor girl and at the same time you are doing things behind their backs. You are lying to everyone including yourself. They will find out and get revenge on you. He tells Meltem to trust him. He stops her from leaving. Didn’t you come to say goodbye to me? He pins her again a wall. Kisses.

Fatmagul #36 part 2

Vural suddenly cries out in his sleep and startles awake. Go away! Go away! Leave me! The ricos rush over to him. A nightmare? Come on, get up and wash your face, Erdo tells him. Vural just wants to be left alone. He’s soaked with sweat and Selim tells him to get up and change his clothes. They try to get him up and take off his blanket. Vural has peed himself. The cellmates have a good laugh and crack jokes.

Kerim and Fatma arrive home in a taxi. Everyone was worried. Meryem is ticked about what Kerim did. Kerim apologizes to everyone. He takes the big white box out of the taxi. Murat wants to know what is in the box. He makes Kerim drop the box and the lid comes off. A wedding dress! Murat asks why a wedding dress when they are already married. Kerim explains when they got married his aunt didn’t wear one. But now… when the time comes… she will use it. Meryem gives Fatma a big hug.

Kerim and Murat are out buying a cake for Fatma. Murat spills the beans about meeting with his mother at school. But you can’t tell anyone, he says. Kerim asks when did you see her? Yesterday. She will come to see me every day, Murat says.

Meryem comes into the kitchen and tells Fatma she should take the day off from work. Go somewhere with Kerim. Don’t tell him that, Fatma says, or he will insist. Everyone is looking forward to celebrating Fatma’s birthday tonight. They invited several others. Seyfi, Emre, Omer and Meryem says Kadir Bey is coming. It will be a wonderful night. Could that be because Kadir Bey is coming, Fatma teases. Fatma laughs, I’m joking.

Kerim closes the kitchen door while Rahmi is with Murat. He tells Meryem and Fatma that Muka went to the school to see Murat and she told him not to tell anyone. Rahmi and Murat enter the kitchen and Meryem proposes she take Murat to school today on her way to run errands. Rahmi can go to work with Fatma. She gets Rahmi to agree.

Meltem and Mustafa done did the deed. She spent the night there. They are awakened by Ender’s phone call that Meltem doesn’t answer. Ender questions Gaye, did Meltem come home last night? Gaye tries to cover.

Mustafa tries to get in the shower with Meltem. You’re a single woman now. No one can punish you. You don’t owe anyone an explanation. Meltem says what happened last night means nothing. Don’t worry, Musto says, I know.

Vural gets a visit from his parents. He tells them either he will go crazy or kill himself. Please get me out of here. Erdo worries about Vural’s stability. He might confess.

Resat says the financial situation is getting worse. The banks won’t negotiate. Their foreign holdings are affected, too. We have to stick together as a family. He tells Hilmiye that her house might have to be sold. She can move in with them. Hilmiye objects and surely Erdo won’t accept it. Resat says Erdo has no right to open his mouth. Resat gets a call that Turaner found out about the plan to take him down. Who was the snitch? We know.

Muka waits inside the school. Meryem brings Murat, then comes into the building saying that Murat forgot something. Look who’s here, Meryem says. Murat says, don’t tell my dad. The teacher tries to excuse it. But Meryem says it would have been better if you let us know. She adds, let Murat spend a little more time with his mom. We can talk outside after.

Kerim wants to stay at Rose Kitchen today. Fatma tries to get him to leave. Rahmi is here and Meryem will come soon. Kerim won’t leave. Are you afraid he will come, she asks? He knows it’s your birthday and he won’t lose the opportunity to bother you, he replies. I know it.

Fatmagul #36 part 3

Mustafa is on his laptop. He tells Meltem today is a friend’s birthday, I’m looking for a present. You have friends, Meltem asks. [Turkish] You don’t know me very well, he replies. I won’t be here long enough to get to know you, she tells him and leaves. Yasar is staking out Mustafa’s building. He sees Meltem leave. He calls Munir to let him know.

Muka meets Meryem outside. What do you want, Muka asks? Meryem has her own question, what are you trying to do? I came to see my son, she replies. No, not that, Meryem says, do you realize what you are doing? Do you think that man cares about you? Muka warns Meryem to watch her words. You have no idea.

Meryem reminds her what happened the last time. Why do you think he is a good man for you? It’s easy for you to say, Muka responds, what do you know about my feelings and what has happened? Don’t make like you understand just because we live together. Meryem says she feels sorry for Muka. Don’t meddle with me, Muka says.

Meryem continues, you are an unhappy woman, and you can’t be happy by breaking other’s hearts. Calm down, Muka says, I’m good with that. Meryem says why not try the opposite? Why think only of yourself? Why don’t you think a little about the damage you cause?

Muka guesses that Meryem is trying to get her testify. Meryem nods, the trial date is coming on the 16 th and your testimony is very important. But you already wasted all your chances. Muka says you should have thought about that before you threw me out of the house.

Meryem won’t lie. She wishes she could convince her to give her testimony. But don’t think of it as a ticket home, she tells Muka. There’s no negotiation. Muka laughs. Meryem says, it’s up to you if you want to do this big favor for Fatmagul. For once in your life, don’t waste the opportunity to do something good for someone else. Do it so you can look your son in the face without guilt. All you have to do is tell the truth. [Turkish] Don’t leave Fatmagul’s fate in the hands of those men’s for the second time. That’s it, Meryem finishes, think it over. [did those words reach Muka?]

Asu checks her messages. One from Kadir. [Turkish] Don’t be a part of this dirty game. Don’t let the hell Fatmagul went through go unpunished. You also know how heavy and hard it is to live a life you are forced to. Fatmagul has a chance to be relieved of this weight and to trust people again. Please don’t take that chance away by helping the Yasarans. Her next message is from Mustafa. I came to see you. I want to talk to you. I miss you a lot. I need to talk to you. Call me. I love you.

Kadir and Omer strategize. They look at similar cases. They have been dragging on for years. The accused are not behind bars. Kadir thinks Kerim is the most important factor in their case. He could have a negative effect. He is harming Fatma’s argument. He was with those rotten ricos [my words, not Kadir’s] even after the incident. Omer says it will look like Kerim is trying to get money from them. Kadir adds, the doctor’s report says there was no rape. There are no witnesses and the girl’s ex is on the defense’s side.

Munir comes to see Kadir. He says he’s there to do a damage assessment. Kerim is out of control. I know you’re not happy with him and you are right. He is trying to slander us any chance he gets. He’s crossed the line. Kadir asks Munir to cut to the chase. Munir says he’s come to declare peace. Kadir and Omer laugh and Munir joins in. Munir is serious, we won’t accept the claim but we will offer a compensation to avoid bloodshed. Kadir says in other words, you are offering money for Fatmagul to keep quiet.

Fatmagul #36 part 4

Munir says this is a lifelong guarantee. You will be free of Mustafa. We will keep the boys far away from you. Are you threatening us, Kadir asks? If we don’t drop the charges, Mustafa and the others will keep bothering us? Munir says this isn’t a threat. You will get exhausted from the case and maybe give up. So I am saying let everyone live their lives without wasting time. Withdraw the suit and everyone wins.

Kadir says he won’t even mention this to Fatmagul. Munir says it’s Kadir’s obligation as Fatma’s lawyer. Kadir asserts that Fatma is not just his client, she is like his daughter. [Turkish] Kadir tells Munir to get the f*ck out. Munir clicks his tongue and says that’s very rude. I hope you don’t regret this later and come begging me. Kadir says we’ll see who begs in court. Munir goes. Omer thinks they must be scared if they are offering a deal.

Meltem is busted by Ender as soon as she walks through the door. She tells her mom she was at a girlfriend’s house. Ender isn’t buying it. Meltem barks to leave her alone and marches off. Gaye follows Meltem. You were with him, she says. I don’t have to tell anything to anyone, Meltem answers. You’re making a big mistake, Gaye says. [and the patio agrees] You will get hurt. We are going away anyway, Meltem replies.

Mustafa talks on the phone. At 10pm, make sure everything is good. The boat will arrive at the place where I told you.

Emre agrees to testify. Not sure how much they told him.

Fatma asks if Meryem saw Muka. Yes, Muka was there. She was hugging Murat. Meryem says she waited outside for Muka. I told her everything I had to say, [Turkish] I told her, “you must attend the trial”, now it depends on you. I don’t know if my words reached her.

Kerim jokes with Fatma about her birthday celebration. He tells her Adil will bring his saz, maybe you can sing. Never again, she replies. [Turkish] Kerim says give me your play list so I can rehearse. Fatma jokes, how about “Yoğurt Koydum Dolaba” - I put the yogurt in the refrigerator. And that’s what she does.

Fatma’s party is underway. Everyone eats dinner. Meryem brings out the cake with candles lit. They sing, “iyi ki doğdum” – glad you were born, to Fatma. She closes her eyes and makes a wish before blowing out the candles. Rahmi and Meryem give their congrats with kisses. Kadir offers his best wishes. Now Kerim stands up before Fatma. After a few awkward seconds, Kerim leans in and she gives him a kiss on each cheek and smiles. Emre asks about the present Kerim gave her. Fatma smiles and says he gave it yesterday and it’s left at that. She cuts the cake to applause.

Meanwhile, Muka flashes back to what she told Fatma in the hospital: “you didn’t listen to me and look what happened. You will listen to me now. The damage has been done. They will get away with it. You’ll see. You will be left alone. Mustafa won’t want to marry you. Don’t cry, look at me. They are saying it happened with your permission. There were four, Fatma cries. She cries for Mustafa. Shh, Mustafa can’t help you, but I can, Muka says. We know the rest….

Salih returns. They bicker. He apologizes. [I hate these two.] Salih asks if she went to the doctor. No, she went to see Murat. Salih is not happy to hear this. Why did you expose yourself? Muka blows up, I miss my son a lot! Salih says he will take her to the doctor next Thursday. What date is that, Muka asks? The 16th. Uh, oh.

Fatma dances with Rahmi. Hercai viewers will know this song if they watched the Turkish version or looked at the links in our recap/comments: Tutuklu/Prisoner – Sezen Aksu

Fatmagul #36 part 5

Kerim asks Meryem if she wants to dance. They get up. Rahmi is having a difficult time with dancing. He apologizes to Fatma and goes to sit. Kadir gets up and tells Kerim it’s his turn to dance with Fatma. [and it’s Kadir’s turn to dance with Meryem] There’s that Kerim gaze again, and after Fatma regains her composure, they dance. Kadir tells Meryem he hasn’t danced in a long time and he’s not very good. [I don’t think Meryem cares].

Kerim tells Fatma this is our second dance. The first one was very tense, she replies. Kerim says he was as excited then as he is now. He adds, they were beautiful that day, but…. Your eyes are even more beautiful now. She has to look away. Catch Kerim’s face, lol, like maybe he got away with this. Let’s enjoy this very happy scene while it lasts.

So we leave this beautiful scene to cut to Mustafa waiting for 10pm. There’s the boat he expects. Munir calls him to check in. Where have you been all day, Munir asks with concern. He is worried he saw Kerim again. No, I still haven’t seen him, Musto replies. What does that mean? Nothing. Resat is pissed at Mustafa but there’s the trial coming up so…. Sorry, I FF’d the rest.

The ricos continue to rot in jail. Erdo marks off another day on his calendar.

A delivery comes for Fatma. Kerim grabs the envelope and walks away. Kadir and the rest of the family follow. Kadir takes the envelope and opens it. It is a postcard of fireworks and written: “I’ll send you my best wishes at 10pm, for many happy years together.” Damn you, Mustafa! The fireworks begin and Kerim grabs on to Fatma. Everyone at the party watches. Mustafa is pleased with himself. Ugh, the fireworks explode into heart shapes. Not good. Will Kerim explode? He sees the boat and takes off, shouting.

The party is over and Fatma is teary. Why did he (Mustafa) do this? He ruined my night, Fatma says. Is it always going to be like this? Meryem comforts her, don’t let it get to you. You’ve stood your ground well, without problems. You will see beautiful days. No one can change that. Meryem reminds her the exam results are coming soon and she will get good news. Fatma smiles.

Rahmi tries reading a bedtime story to Murat. Rahmi diverts from the story to tell his own. Children shouldn’t lie, even if they have to. Even if your mother wants you to. Murat calls him out, you’re lying. That’s not in the story. Rahmi says his story is better, children shouldn’t lie. Don’t lie to your father, he tells Murat. Let’s sleep.

Everything is packed up and Meryem says it’s time to go in. Kerim says a curt, good night and rushes off to the shed. Fatma calls out to him. Thank you for everything, she tells him, you prepared everything since morning. It was great. You must be tired. Yes, he replies, I wanted everything to be perfect, but it didn’t occur to me to set off fireworks. Ay, Kerim, no, Fatma says. That bastard, Kerim says, I will get revenge.

Fatma pleads, who cares what he did. Don’t you do anything. Listen to me this time. Don’t you see how he provokes me, Kerim asks, am I supposed to keep quiet? Fatma says his anger will only hurt them. Don’t do anything that will ruin the trial. Kerim says that is why Mustafa is doing this. Fatma says Musto is desperate. He’s lonely, helpless, he knows he lost everything. He is taking revenge on himself. He’s trying to hurt himself.

Fatmagul #36 part 6

Kerim thinks it’s clear that Mustafa is trying to impress her. Fatma replies, he is nobody to me, even if he pulls the stars down from the sky. You think he can impress me with the Yasarans’s money? He’s a poor soul. Don’t be jealous. I’m not jealous, Kerim says, I’m scared. Mustafa and the Yasarans are extremely worthless people. Shameless and evil. I am afraid of losing you, he tells her. She pats his arm and says, that won’t happen. Kerim says, I love you so much. He moves in real close, and their eyes meet. He’s going for the kiss, and she jumps back and takes off with a hurried good night.

He stands there. Did he blow it again? Fatma goes to her room and presses her hands to her stomach first, then puts her hands on her cheeks as she tries to process her feelings.

The wait is on for Fatma’s exam results. She has passed! She thanks Meryem for her support and wants to call Kerim right away. She plays a trick on him to make him think she failed. After she hangs up, Fatma says Kadir should know, too. She tells Meryem with a smile, you call him, I have things to do.

Everyone is happy at dinner. Kadir has become a fixture there. He says he’s not going to leave their lives when the trial is over. I told Meryem you are like family to me. Meryem says I hope we will all be smiling after the trial. Catch the look between Kerim and Fatma?

Erdo and Selim mark off the last days before the trial. Ender and Meltem say goodbye to Gaye and head to the airport. Asu makes the trip to Izmir. The family heads to Izmir as well.

Muka wakes up alone in bed. She eavesdrops on Salih who is on the phone in the bathroom. I’m trying to delay, Salih says, we are going to the doctor tomorrow. Nothing was easy. I’m just advising you Munir Bey, I’ve done my part. I’ll never be with this woman, even if you give me all you have. Muka is stunned. Salih asks about the trial date. Call me when it’s over.

Muka is waiting when Salih comes out. Who are you, she hisses. She screams, who are you, you damned man! Salih tries to quiet her. No dice. Did they buy you, too, she asks? You are working for Munir? Salih tries to play dumb and it doesn’t work. You did this so I wouldn’t give my testimony!

She tosses stuff around. I destroyed my family, Muka shouts. Salih raises his hand. Go ahead, do it, Muka dares. You are an accomplice to rapists! That stops Salih in his tracks. You ruined me to save three damned criminals! You ruined my life! Salih wants an explanation.

Muka has explained. Salih says, those bastards. How could they trick me like this? Damned Munir. Muka says Salih is no different than them. You did this to me for your own benefit. Salih swears he didn’t know, and he asked many times. [Turkish] Munir said it was a land dispute. Salih blames Muka! If I had known this, he says, I wouldn’t have done it.

And that should reassure me, Muka asks? It’s not important if you knew or not. Does it make a difference? I am the stupid one. I believed you once, despite everything. And, knowing how you were, I fell again. He tries to apologize. You hurt me a lot this time, she tells him, I never felt so humiliated in my life. I destroyed my family for nothing.

Salih admits he did something very bad and tells her to go. Do you think they would accept me now, Muka asks? They won’t forgive me. Salih says maybe your husband will forgive you if ruin their (the Yasarans’) game. Go to the trial, he tells her, I’ll buy your plane ticket and give you some money. But go and testify! Ruin their game!

And we are out.

Juanita, thank you so much for powering through the pity parties and providing another terrific recap. I reviewed the Turkish version and discovered that for a change, I was glad Telemundo cut out some of the Reyyan angst, including a few more memories she had as a child, where Hazar did nothing but support her.

This included a scene where she is crying because the other school girls are teasing her about her unruly, curly hair. Hazar messes up his hair to show her how unruly his can be as well. The rest of the stuff cut would have made all of us want to poke our eyes out with a sharp stick than watch it, including way too much Handan antics faking her baby’s birth, so I am grateful you didn’t have to suffer any more than necessary to get the recap out.

I think Gonul dug up her brother’s grave and clearly the note master beat her to the punch to provide that note. Like carmella, I call foul on her low blow play with Firat making him do her dirty work. Azize did too.

It does appear that Esma and Miran are working together on something. By the way, I think that Esma’s house/mansion/konak is in Midyat not Kars.

So Ayise might indeed be a note master plant working with Sultana. No wonder Sultana has been so brave lately. She knows she has back up on the way. Could it be her son?

Yaren is full bat sh** crazy! I cannot believe Nasuh let her back into the family so easily.

Azat was getting totally snockered in his truck. I felt really bad for Elif.

Reyyan looked a lot less pathetic in the last scene confronting Azize. Let’s hope she is over the self-made drama.

Thanks again Juanita!

Fatmagul

Dear dondi, I cannot believe how you can turn out one detailed recap after another . You are the Energizer bunny of recappers , and I appreciate the way you make everything so clear .

Yeah, Mustafa is sooooo in love with Fatmagul , his one true love . That's why he hasn't missed an opportunity to sleep with Asu and Meltem.

Those fireworks caused fireworks. Mustafa knows how to push Kerim's buttons.

These writers pull so many rabbits out of their hats, unlike with most telenovelas I have watched in which you can fill in your bingo card with each trope used . You think Kerim cannot get sweeter , and then , he buys Fatmagul that beautiful lace wedding gown. Whataman . Whatamightyfineman.

Juanita, you deserve a Recappers Medal of Honor™. This wasn't a pity party; it was a pity extravaganza. But you described every eye rolling moment with great style.

I was struck by Gonul's saying something to Sultana about Azize taking her (Gonul's) brother from Sultana. Isn't this sort of a slip. Sultana, as far as I know, thinks her male child was born dead.

ITA about Juanita's "Huh?" when we see Gonul digging. For one thing it was abrupt, almost as if part of the scene had been cut in an amateurish way. These notes are ubiquitous. Haven't these folks heard of text messages? I know, I know. The recipient would then know who sent it.

Don't really understand why Gonul wants Firat to think her brother is dead.

Juanita, was "Call the Midwife" a shoutout to the BBC series?

Do we know what sex Handan's baby is? If they said, I forgot it. Also, I was hoping for a brother for Reyyan and Gul, mostly to take some of the pressure off Azat!

I don't know how they can keep all this going until February. I think that's when the Gavilanes thing begins. Or is Gavilanes going to replace Malverde? I notice we're getting another season of the American Ninja Warrior reality show knockoff. Bah!

Fatmagul

Dondi, you are a saint! As Susanlynn said you produce recap after recap and you do it with such flair and you capture everything.

Okay I know the whole proposal was cute and the birthday was cute until Mustafa ruined it, but am I the only one who thought it was funny how these events flow day after day after day? Day 1 Fatma finally admits she feels comfortable with Kerim and doesn't want to be separated from him, she lets him kiss her hand. Day 2 Kerim thinks 'hey she let me kiss her hand yesterday, I know I should propose marriage!!' Day 3 Kerim is too nervous/shy to even kiss Fatma on the cheek in a birthday greeting even though she did (sort of) agree to the marriage proposal the day before... it's funny. It's cute but I was laughing out loud at the timing and also the quick trips back and forth from confidence to total insecurity. But it's probably an accurate portrayal given what they've been through. I love that hopeful but insecure look on Kerim's face when he was dancing with Fatma telling her how he felt and wondering if he went too far...so cute.

And then he gets emboldened (because she touched his arm) and goes for the kiss! Effort not rewarded but it doesn't seem to have done any damage either. As you said Fatma wanted to call Kerim right away when she got the results and tease him.

Wasn't expecting the reprehensible Salih to have a problem when he found out what he was an accomplice to. And so much so he paid to fly Muka to testify!! Wow, the Yeserans are even too low for a low life.

Fatma is right about Mustafa he is pathetic, too bad Kerim doesn't see that and is threatened by him. Even worse, too bad that Meltem doesn't see it.

I think Muka is still 100% out for herself but the fact that she was thinking back to what she did to Fatma in the hospital even before discovering Salih makes me wonder if there isn't a part of her deep down, really really deep down in that cold heart that actually feels something for Fatma....hmm, probably not.

fatmagul

Thanks again, dondi, for another terrific recap. It's beginning to look as if we may actually get the trial before the end of the week. And I'm able to keep up since our company took this week off.

This is not the first time I've thought it, but perhaps the first time I put it in writing. I think Munir is the most despicable one in the whole cast of baddies. Erdogan is leaning hard on his heels, but he's been hors de combat for several episodes by now. It's not only his complete lack of ethics and morality, it's the sneering when he gets another person to bend to his will. And, of course, there is his callous, opportunistic treatment of women. First he uses and then dumps Leman. Then, scummy and unattractive as he is, he's convinced Gaye would fall for him. I was irritated she gave him even an evening out or two. And, the cherry on the sundae, his moves on Asu. Of course I jumped off the sofa cheering when she kneed him in the avocados.

It's been lovely to see Fatmagul's transformation. The actress is doing a wonderful job with her facial expressions. She was a mask of misery for a very long time. And now you can see her being hopeful. I was a bit confused about the test results. Of course she passed but there was some reference to a "superior" course or test still to come. And another mention of college. So, did she just pass her junior year of high school in US terms and still has a year to go?

I can't quite figure out Mustafa's behavior. I know the fireworks were in large part to get under Kerim's skin. But are we to believe he's acting out of spite because she hasn't continued pining for him and seems to be moving on? Or does he really want her back? And will he continue to tell the "big lie" in court? Lately he's just been running a rearguard action against the Yasaran, but I can't predict what he'll do in the trial.

fatmagul

Oh, one more thing I have noticed. That is how much happier the family is without Mukkades. And novelera is much happier without her. That constant snooping, prying, and digs at Fatmabul were wreaking havoc with my blood pressure.

Herc#25

Great recap!

Good granny scene was a show stealer.....but her slapping theBeJesus out of Miren!AWESOME!!!!

Fatmagul

Thank you, dondi356. Wonderful recap of an enjoyable episode. Calm before the storm. When they were getting into cars to go to the trial it was like they were going to war.

Now that Meltem is divorced, the rules of chastity don't apply to her? Or is it an Istanbul thing? Or the lifestyle of the rich?

I do remember the song - Tutuklu - from Hercai. Fitting for a slow dance.

The relationship of Fatmagul and Kerim improved by leaps and bounds. She is now like his fiancée and the wedding dress is a kind of an engagement ring.

Fatmagul

Novelera , Your "Mask of misery." comment was spot on . I can actually feel the misery of both Fatmagul and Kerim no matter how many times a watch this dizi.

As for Muka, the actress did an outstanding job of making the audience suffer right along with the characters in her orbit. She is a miserable person . If you go to the sidebar at caray, you can read the recaps that were originally written and the comments . Vivi was one of the original recappers . Most viewers detest Muka. This character definitely gets under your skin .

Thanks VERY much, carmella, VVS, and novelera for your helpful and insightful comments.

Carmella, I'm really impressed by the wonderful way you can be fed up with Reyyan's behavior and, at the same time, recognize the legitimacy of some of that behavior. It results in a much fuller, more nuanced portrayal. And I agree that young, attractive young women like Gonul and Reyyan should not wander around alone at night. Our response is perhaps a sad commentary on our society, but I doubt that young women are safer in Turkish society. And I too think it was pretty nasty of Gonul to use Firat as she did.

VVS, thanks very much for letting me know that Telemundo saved me from yet more of the Reyyan angst. Whew! What they left in was more than enough! Thanks, too, for pointing out that the house where Azize and Esma are staying is in Midyat, not Kars. That makes a lot of sense. And I too felt very sad for Elif. I had had hopes that Azat would grow to love her, but I'm now doubtful that it will happen. She deserves to love someone who will reciprocate and make her happy, and I fear Azat may be permanently fixated on Reyyan. I suppose some telenovela magic could still change that, but I'm not holding my breath.

Novelera, I was glad to see that you too found the graveyard scene odd. It just appeared out of the blue. My guess is that the Turkish version had one or more scenes that led up to it. And I too wondered why Gonul wants Firat to think her brother is dead. You make a good point about Gonul's slip re Azize taking her brother from Sultana. For some reason, I thought she just meant that Azize took the dead baby away without even letting Sultana see it. But now, in daylight, that seems to make much less sense to me. I like your notion of a slip much more. And no, IIRC, there's been no mention of the sex of Handan's fetus. I might mention that I've always had some doubts about whether she'll succeed in carrying it to term.

Herc

My apologies for being so late. And I am sorry you had to recap Tuesday’s episode, Juanita. But I am grateful you did. I agree with novelera, you deserve that medal.

Thanks for checking the Turkish version, VVS. I wouldn’t have had the strength to poke my eyes out with that sharp stick.

I’m hoping we go back to one hour when Exatlón comes back. The Turks only had one 2+ hour episode per week. Five consecutive nights of endless screaming, whining, sobbing self-pity is way too much for me.

Asiye has got to be in with the Note Master.

That was Azat doing the voice over.

I got nothing else. This show is exhausting.

Thanks again, Juanita!

S2-Epi 28
Part 1

• Reyan starts her convo with Azize demanding to know if she knew of her parentage. She always knew ..no surprise to Reyan who is acutely aware of her cruel games.
• Azize suggests she direct her anger at Miran…but knows she won’t because she loves him…she ponders how she could love someone who’s caused her so much harm. She tries to push Reyan by calling her weak and taunts that love won’t last.
• Reyan wants to know if she was the one told Yaren…but Azize laments that this serpent made the parentage announcement before she could herself.
• Reyan informs her she won’t be able to use her against Hazar...nor will she turn into the cold hearted woman that is Azize… there is nothing more than anyone can do to hurt her anymore. Taking a look at Gul's doll, Azize says she doubts it….Reyan sees the doll and grabs it…giving Azize the customary warning against harming a loved one. Azize points out that this death threat makes them the same. Not so per Reyan who would only seek justice, not vengeance. Again…Azize thinks they are the same.
• Reyan calls the SADoglu homestead to check on Gul. Elif confirms all is well..she’s with Melike.
• Firat is pleased to learn Gul is well and disappointed to learn that Azize knew everything all along regarding Reyan’s adoption.
• Mopey MEran is still at the swing thinking…and somehow lays blame on Reyan for not being there to share her pain with him….WTF…she abandoned him??? He can’t live without her tho.
• Firat looks after Reyan somewhere unknown. She doesn’t have a plan …she just knows what she doesn’t want. He appears to relate. Her only concern is Gul…so she shouldn’t leave he advises. Just stay away from all the evil folks. Good luck with that.
• Goodgranny Sukran walks up…apparently having been summoned by Firat. GG pledges her support and wants to take her back home…Reyan is more her priority than MEran right now….she’s her Dilsah…who needs her protection right now.
• Firat updates Hazar but tells him to leave Reyan be for now…so as not to chase her away. He doesn’t’ listen ....plans to go to her….calls Miran even.
• At the SAD house…Huran sleeps like a babe in Yaren’s bed while she sleeps restlessly in a chair. She startles to a wake…disturbing him… they get into one of their verbal spats…he goes back to sleep.
• Mahmut brings Azize the news she was looking for…and receives orders to unite Reyan with her real dad…pleased that Yaren did her dirty work for her regarding this issue.
• GG and Reyan return home...settle in…Reyan in Dilsah’s PJs. GG reflects on her and Dislahs sumfering…Reyan flashes back to Hazar and the hair thing…she tears up…calling for her Papa. Is it finally sinking in that he has always been her dad despite the blood.
• Handan tries to motivate Cihan to do something regarding Yaren’s situation….not the right time he says. A drunken Azat returns home…gets yelled at. Elif comes to his rescue and ignores Handan’s rebuff and takes her hubby to their room.
• Elif tries to reach Azat …who’s worried that he added to Reyan’s departure…wondering if this doesn’t please Elif. They have an honest convo…Elif confirms her support of Reyan but she cares more about Azat she declares. Azat is angered by Elif’s assertion that he still loves Reyan. He never lied to her…she lied to herself she knows..takes her ring off realizing he will never love her. Her walking out doesn’t faze the drunken Azat…he sleeps it off.
• HazMir arrive at GG’s shack…not understanding a girl needs a lil space. Reyan closes the door on them. Hazar talks thru the door...acknowledging blame…declaring love….making promises..pleading. Flashbacks provided during this 1 way exchange.

Part 2

• Firat returns…Gonul and Sultana learn of Reyan’s parentage. He has no patience for Sultana’s gossipy ways…she finds him boring. Gonul is hopeful it drives ReyMIr apart. The new maid hears all including Sultana’s musings to herself about the impact of the adoption.
• HazMir sit on the steps moping…Reyan gets a call ….goes out and confronts them to leave. They try to plead their case but she’s not interested in them trying to clear their conscience. Hazar leaves and will wait till she’s ready. MEran lingers...he can’t leave her like this….He embraces her…he misses her. She’s not responsive. ….reminds him this situation is NOT about him…but her. He finally gets it and leaves her with a kiss. Before he leaves…she jumps in the car and embraces him…but we see he imagined it all. He finally leaves with a plan to help her.
• She grabs her purse and heads out…
• New maid sucks up to Sultana …who has her to be her chauffer…they head to the SAD house.
• Hungover Azat awakens…hydrates…apologizes to Elif…not remembering everything he said. She pretends nothing happened…puts her ring back on without him noticing…goes in for a hug…. He starts to remember but doesn’t let on.
• In the SAD kitchen….Yaren is back to her old self, harassing Hanife and commanding Melike. Harun arrives and pokes fun at her about catering to her husband. She rebels but Handan urges her to do her part….even orders her to help Melike and Handan in the kitchen from now on. The shrew is still rebellious…she’s not a servant she says.
• Sultana barges into the SAD court yard to gloat about the Reyan news. Handan entertains her while Yaren gets acquainted with the kitchen. Frustrated she tries to leave the kitchen…but Handan redirects her.
• Cihan comes up and defends Hazar and Reyan. Sultana is there to support them she claims…Azize and Miran are the true enemies. Sultana gives them food for thought. Azize knew about Reyan’s adoption from the beginning…why did she set of the ReyMir marriage….what was her plan.
• Huran makes a call…chats about his marriage…and his hellcat wife…. first night of marriage. He gets updated on Gonul’s grave digging adventure.
• Reyan visits with Azize again who taunts she’s homeless…with no one….or Miran. Reyan points out the irony of their similar states…since Azize is living with her housekeeper Esma…..without Miran….or family.
• Azize gives her info on her bio-dad. Supposedly she only just found out who is. Reyan trashes the info and claims Hazar…..recognizing Azize is up to something with the info. She’s gonna return to her father and her husband. Unlike her, she knows what family is and won’t end up alone. Azize vows to herself to make Reyan’s life hell.
• Gonul meets with two colleagues who inform her she can no longer work for the company and stay on the board…she has to choose one. Azat didn’t know about the clause they tell her. She knows Azize is behind it.
• Reyan returns to GG who is excited to see her…concerned she left. MEran returns as well.....with their horses…knowing she’d want to see Mavi. Just what she needed…they ride off like old times…{MEran taunts us…his old hairdo has returned as well.}
• Miran stops their ride…forcing a conversation. She doesn’t want to talk to him….but he encourages her to talk and let him and everyone else have what’s coming to them….speak her mind. This reminds her of the letter she wrote her mom…she panics ….but he surprises her with it…he intercepted it somehow?? Flashback to him following her the night she attempted to mail it….it didn’t fall completely in the slot….he grabbed it knowing her anger clouded her thinking. She shreds the letter and rides off…he trails behind.

Part 3

They stop…she tells him again she just wants to be alone but MEran suffocates when she’s not with him. Give her time..she asks…don’t follow her…she takes off on Mavi…alone. He’ll have to wait.
• GG is concerned when he returns home without her. She chastise him…blames him for everyone’s suffering. Don’t call me abuela…leave. MEran asks for forgiveness ….he can’t handle her turning her back on him… Reyan is gone…what’s he suppose to do….he needs her help.
• Distraught…Hazar returns home… Cihan is sympathetic…supportive. He lost Reyan…nonsense says Cihan…..just give her time.
• The snake Yaren makes an appearance and smartly slithers back when she sees Hazar. Cihan pleads on behalf of his pregnant wife but Hazar will not stay under the same roof as that snake…have Melike send things to the hotel for him. Handan runs out to plead… but she can’t say anything that makes sense. Cihan begs him not to leave…but they don’t plan to kick Yaren out. Gul runs out to save the day. She spots Mavi…. But Hazar falls to pieces seeing the horse return without Reyan. He’s certain she’s in trouble.
• MEran mopes outside…GG joins him… advises him to leave Reyan in piece…don’t push. Hazar calls him in a panic since Mavi returned without Reyan.
• We see her lying face down in the water… a man picks her up…carries her to safety….WE HOPE.

The End.

Many thanks, dondi356, for your much appreciated comments. I'd love you to be right about Hercai perhaps returning to one-hour episodes once Exatlón is back. Like you, I'm finding the two-hour Hercai episodes exhausting. (Of course, you've got multiple doses of exhaustion every day, since you're also watching--and recapping--Fatmagül! I don't know how you do it!)

Yes, I think you're probably right about Ayise working somehow with/for the note master. I still have no idea who the note master is, nor what his/her ultimate aims are.

Thanks very much, Nett, for this fine recap of another somewhat frustrating episode. I loved your referring the the SADoglu, which you then often shortened quite appropriately to SAD.

I was happy to see Reyyan stand up to Azize and not crumble in the face of her varied tactics to undermine Reyyan. Indeed, I thought Reyyan got the better of her. I was especially pleased to see Reyyan tear up the information about her supposedly "real" father and insist that she knew who her real father is, Hazar Sadoglu. And, needless to say, I was relieved that she took Gul's doll. Is it possible that Reyyan will be the one to find the crucial letter from Dilsah?

I was amused that when Reyyan differentiated herself from Azize by saying "I don't want venganza, just justice," Azize was delighted. Lately Azize too has been saying that what she wants is justice, and she apparently regards Reyyan's statement as proof that the two of them are alike. [Yeah, sure]

I was a bit puzzled by Gonul's thinking that Reyyan's not being Hazar's biological child might drive ReyMir apart. I think you're right, Nett, that she does think/hope this, but I don't understand her reasoning.

OMG, Miran's terrible hair style is back! He says he wants to go back to better times in the past, and he himself points to the bangs and says "like old times." Arrgh.

Wow, they really picked a great scene to leave us hanging until Monday. I wonder why Reyyan was lying unconscious by the water. And who is the person in the ominous dark boots who picks her up and carries her away?

Fatmagul

Thanks everyone! Loving the comments.

Yep, Kerim made a couple bold moves in this ep. The wedding dress and moving in for a kiss. Not quite the reactions he wanted but hope is still alive. Fatma and Kerim’s relationship is very delicate. He’s made plenty of blunders. He made a very big one going after Mustafa.

Regarding the flow of events, this show aired once a week about 1:30 – 1:45 per episode. We are getting stupid edits and our episodes don’t end where the originals did. Then we get those interstitial scenes of day(s) turning into night(s) to signify the passage of time.

ITA, a surprise that Salih has a limit. Darcy: “Wow, the Yeserans are even too low for a low life.” Lol.

novelera, your reasons for declaring Munir as “most despicable” baddie are good ones. Resat disgusts me too. Erdogan is following in their footsteps.

Kerim commented that the house was peaceful without Muka around. Now Fatma and Kerim can work on their relationship without that witch stirring the pot.

Beren Saat is a wonderful actress.

Lucio, I like the idea of the wedding dress as an engagement ring. Meltem was sleeping with Selim before marriage so… Interesting comparisons of the cultural differences between big city/small village.

Susanlynn, you are right when you say this is unlike other TNs or dizis. It's one of the best I've seen.

Thank you Nett for your concise and to the right to the point recap! I can only imagine how two hours daily of recapping can be exhausting, especially when the episodes of late have been so emotionally exhausting on top of it! But I’m still UBER grateful for the recaps! I missed the first 1/2 hr of last nights episode due to work, even though the previews gave me an idea of what would take place.

In the first place, although I loved the part of Reyyan’s bravado against Azize (that I saw later in the episode) WHY does anyone continue to feel the need to confront Azize about anything!?!?! This is frustrating the Bo jangles outta me! No one will EVAH get a straight answer outta her “Lyingness” and her intrigues only give her joy! Stop being STOOPID people! A bunch of masochists the whole lot of them!

Secondly, in the words of Michael Jackson “ Leave me alone! Just stop doggin me around!” Why doesn’t Hazar and Miran get this? (Although Hazar seems to have finally gotten it) But especially Miran ! Yeah, getting Mavi was a considerate gesture, but you shoulda just left the horse and rode your azz off in the other direction! Then, during the ride, Miran asks “ are you running away me Reyyan?” Like “WTH!” Duhhhhh! I’ve been asking your sorry BEHIND to leave me alone for days now!!!! What part of “Leave me alone, I want to be alone, I need time alone to think——-didn’t your sorry azz process?!?! Are we talking the same language? Do we live on the same planet? Are you really a Moron?! Now to give the “miserable one” some props, he did plead sincerely and honestly to GG for her forgiveness and for her help in what he should do about Reyyan. I hope that no matter what happens he will listen to GG’s advice going forward and stop being so thick-headed.

Thirdly, REALLY Sultana!!! You have nothing better to do than go and pick fights with your neighbors?! Get a life girl, cause even as top cockroach, you don’t seem to have one! Looks like your “trusted”housekeeper, who you seem to have known for only a good ten minutes is about to throw your petty existence into a tailspin. Well deserved! Also on the road lined with pettiness is Handan. Her treatment of Elif is disgusting especially when Azat’s treatment of her is just slightly better. Yeah he’s civil, but Elif needs more than that and Azat knows that! If you can’t love her, don't love her, or won’t love her, let her go Azat! That “ I never lied to you” BS is for the birds—— not for a kind, sensitive human being who is desperately crying out for love! But why did Elif act like nothing happened and put her ring back on her finger?

I just don’t know what to say about Yaren! Although I don’t like Harun, as her husband he just needs to sex her up. Maybe Yaren needs a new thrill or something, and might even enjoy. Sadly, I don't believe there’s any hope for her. Her brain is just demented and distorted and there’s no fixing her. Maybe they should try slipping her meds for the severely psychotic…….

Love your “ Sad” house reference Nett! It truly is the saddest house on the block! Gave me a good laugh, and I truly appreciate that with all these sad episodes we’ve been given lately! Thanks again!

Thanks for the recap, Nett. Love your style. “SADoglu” – nice.

What’s the deal with Gonul not being able to work and be on the board? I thought Azat and Firat work there, too? Aren’t they board members? Whatever.

Thank goodness Reyyan has the doll. ITA, Juanita, it would be nice if Rey found the letter.

Nooooo, Mr. Bangs is back!

Fatmagul #37 part 1

Trial day has arrived. The rotten ricos are being shaved in preparation. Vural looks at the barber’s straight razor like it’s an executioner’s blade and resists. Nerves are on edge.

The rest of the Yasarans are nervous as well as they wait outside the prison. [Who cares?] Perihan and Hilmiye are there, too, to catch a glimpse of their rotten sons before court. Munir checks in with Asu to make sure she is in Izmir and ready for court. And Mustafa’s on his way.

Kadir and Meryem speak with Fatma in her hotel room. Kerim stands in the doorway. Kadir says, this will be a very difficult day for you. You have been waiting and preparing for months. You did it and today we will achieve our goal, they will go to prison. We have good possibility of winning the case.

He continues, you will be stressed during the trial, things that are said will hurt. You have to be prepared for everything. And no matter how much you’ve prepared, it’s different when you are there. If you want, you can stay (here). I will represent you in the best way I can. Kadir thinks it is better if she doesn’t come but the decision is hers. Meryem agrees with Kadir. Kerim remains silent.

Fatma says, I will go. I am not afraid to deal with anyone. I will look into the eyes of each of them, I am not scared. Did she just look at Kerim?

Yasar picks up Asu. She asks if Mustafa is here. He should be. Does he know I’m here, Asu asks. Are you afraid, Yasar asks. Asu shakes her head no. Yasar assures her Musto can’t do anything because she is with him.

Musto speaks with his mother and tells her he is in Izmir on business. They will talk later.

Muka makes arrangements to head to Izmir.

Vural’s parents arrive at the jail to join the rest just in time to see the rotten ricos loaded in the van and taken to the courthouse.

How interesting that Fatma rides in the truck with Kerim to go to court. She feels faint when she gets out. And seeing Mustafa standing out front doesn’t help. Kerim can’t keep his mouth shut. He shouts, what are you doing here? He points his finger, I’m going to get revenge for what you have done. Kadir and Emre quiet Kerim. Mustafa stands like a stone.

Fatma gives Musto a good stare before she enters the building. Kerim turns to her and says, this is your turn. Don’t let them scare you. Be brave. You will win. We will win.

Kerim spots the rotten ricos sitting in a room. [Thank goodness he was able to keep his mouth shut]

Fatma thinks to herself, my legs are shaking, my body is tense. I’ve waited for this day for months. She passes the Yasarans and Namlis in the hall. I waited patiently. It’s time for revenge. It’s time to stand against those who tried to take my life away. Why do they look at me with hate? Is it because I didn’t give up? Because you couldn’t beat me? Because I didn’t accept the life you offered me? You want me to hang my head and be quiet. I am not the one who should lower my head and you know it. That’s why you hate me.

Mustafa sees Asu arrive at the courthouse. We hear Fatma continue, you wanted to stain my name to clean your dirty consciences. You gave up your pride for profit.

The defendants enter the courtroom. Fatma stares at them and recalls their voices and her screams from that night. As the judge enters, we hear Fatma again, you committed the most terrible crime, and I didn’t deserve it. You soiled my honor forever, ruined the life of someone you didn’t even know. Now look at me in the eyes and dare to deny it.

They cut: Fatma still standing and staring accusingly at the rotten ones after everyone else has sat down. Kadir had to gently get her to sit. She makes a silent prayer, God help me so my legs don’t shake. Help me, give me strength until the end of this trial. Don’t leave me helpless before them again.

The judge calls for the defendants to identify themselves. Kerim is first.

Fatmagul #37 part 2

In the hall, Murat is giving the stink eye to Mustafa, who winks at him. Murat calls him a jerk in Turkish. Rahmi tells him not to look at Musto. Meryem says none of them are worth looking at.

Mustafa sees Asu and wants to talk. Yasar tries to stop him but Resat motions to let them talk. Musto takes her outside. So, Hacer Ovacik, you’re going to tell me how you joined this team.

Meryem addresses Resat with snark, all of you look great together. Resat replies, even if you withdraw the suit, you will not succeed. I swear I will sue you and take everything you have. Keep dreaming, Meryem answers.

Rahmi recognizes Yasar but can’t quite place him.

Muka is desperate to catch the next flight to get to the trial. Salih pays cash for her ticket.

The charges have been read and the judge asks the defense attorneys (Munir and Omer) if they have anything to say before they speak to the defendants. Of course, Munir jumps up right away and he spews the disgusting lies we have all heard before.

This is difficult for Fatma to hear, she rests her head on her hand and then she slumps onto the table. Kerim is alarmed. They get water for Fatma. The judge asks if she wants to leave. Kadir tells her she can go. Fatma wants to stay. Munir asks, can I continue after this display to influence the court? Kerim calls out Munir on his act and the judge demands silence or else. [Ay, Kerim, keep your freakin’ mouth shut!]

Kadir’s turn to speak. It’s obvious they are trying to deny the crime, he says. While my colleague defends his clients, who are his relatives, he is attacking the personal rights of the victim. We oppose everything he said and stand behind the charges in this case.

Erdo is up first. You heard the charges, do you accept them? Of course, I do not accept. They are slander. Fatma thinks back to what Erdo did. Erdo continues, the night they say the incident happened was my cousin’s engagement. We never left the house. Fatma looks daggers at Erdo.

Resat sends Yasar to check on Musto and Asu. Rahmi still can’t place Yasar.

Asu explains to Musto, she came to me because she didn’t know anyone else in Istanbul. She stayed a couple of days. That’s what happened. When she discovered what I did for a living, she left. Then Kerim found me and I had to tell him the truth. Musto is ticked, if you didn’t do this behind my back… Yasar interrupts and calls Asu back inside.

Before she leaves she tells Musto she only wanted to help Fatma, not cause her harm. But now you are doing it, he replies. Asu retorts, but I could never cause her as much harm as you did. Isn’t that right? Musto’s got no answer good answer for that one. He asks, what are you going to say inside? Are you going to say what they want?

Asu goes to leave and Musto blocks her. Listen, if you lie and say she’s a prostitute, I will kill you. Asu replies, I think you forgot why you are here. It’s okay when you fill your pockets, what makes you different than me? You do anything for money, just like me. Thanks to Fatmagul, there’s a lot more money to get.

Selim is telling his lies next. He was busy with guests and a little drunk, so he went to bed early. Then Kerim came in the morning, he says. Selim is visibly shaken by his own lies and starts crying. Fatma glares at him. The judge asks why he’s crying. Because I am innocent, nothing like that happened. Fatma flashes on what Selim did that night. My life is ruined by this slander, he says.

Fatma jumps up and shouts, [Turkish] may God punish you! The judge tells her to sit. Kadir tries to get her to sit. He’s lying, Fatma shouts. The judge warns her she will have to leave. Selim finishes by saying he doesn’t accept the charges.

Fatmagul #37 part 3

Vural is next. He is in a daze and doesn’t answer. Munir speaks on his behalf. My client’s health is… the judge interrupts and will not take that as an excuse. You heard the charges, what do you say? Vural looks at Fatma. We see the flash of Vural asking Fatma for forgiveness. Your honor… I… and after a very long pause, Vural says he is innocent. I can’t imagine how they could make up something like this, he says weakly. Kerim jumps up and shouts at Vural, [Turkish] may God punish you as well! Kerim addresses the judge, he came crying to our house for Fatma’s forgiveness. Now he is lying!

Silence! Kerim is made to sit. The judge warns, I will have to stop the trial if you continue to break the rules. This is the last warning. Vural does not accept the charges.
Kerim is the last one up. Kerim admits, I am guilty because I was there, and I didn’t stop them.

Muka and Salih wait at the airport. She tries calling Rahmi. The phone is off. She leaves a message: I am on my way to the trial to testify for Fatmagul. Muka is ready to take her leave of Salih. He goes to kiss her goodbye and wish her a good flight. She pushes him away [she should have done that years ago] Who do you think you are? I don’t want to see you again. [Buh, bye, Salih]

The wait outside the courtroom continues. Meryem thinks back to what the rotten ricos’ mothers told her about that night. How they blamed Kerim. Meryem tells them she regrets not saying anything (to the police) at that time. [Turkish] You said the devil got into Kerim, but you are the devils.

Meryem is called to testify. She explains her relationship with Fatma and with Kerim. She then explains how she found Fatma that morning. We see the flashback. Meryem says she called the ambulance and they took Fatma to the hospital. Fatma didn’t say a word. Meryem takes a seat in the gallery when she’s finished.

Rahmi comes in next. We don’t hear what he has to say. He sits next to Meryem.

It’s time for the last witness. Kadir asks if Emre can speak after the defense presents Hacer Ovacik. It will show how Hacer Ovacik has nothing to do with this case. Munir asks to speak. Hacer Ovacik will give a clue of the true personality of the defendant, who tries to show she is a poor innocent victim. [Turkish] The delay of Emre’s testimony is an attempt to disturb the course of the trial. Munir wins his point. The judge wants to hear Emre now.

We go to New York. Meltem is depressed. She’s wondering about the trial. Ender tells her Turaner will find out. Meltem feels uneasy. What if they go free? What if they go unpunished? I am angry at myself, she tells her mom. Why was I such a coward? Why didn’t I testify? Why couldn’t I be as brave as Fatmagul?

Emre is questioned. All he knows is what Kerim told him. He came because he knows what Hacer Ovacik is going to say. Unfortunately, the judge is not interested to hear any more and asks Emre to take a seat.

The defense witnesses are called. Resat is up first. We don’t hear what he says but we know it’s a pack of lies. Fatma has flashbacks to that night while he speaks. Perihan is called next, Fatma thinks about Mustafa burning their house. Hilmiye gives her testimony, Fatma thinks about her horrible wedding day. Leman is up and Fatma thinks about the beating Kerim received. Next is Semsi, followed by Asu. She thinks about Kerim hugging her outside the workshop and about Erdogan entering her house with Vural in the van.

Mustafa is called. He says he works with the defendants. Kadir interjects he is currently working there getting paid to come here to lie. The judge issues a warning. Mustafa confirms he is the ex-fiancé of Fatma. The judges on the panel confer. Since Mustafa’s testimony is determined to be different than the others, they want him to take an oath. He is warned there are consequences for not telling the truth.

Fatmagul #37 part 4

Musto is sworn in: [Turkish] I will tell the truth. I swear on my honor and my conscience. Catch the look on Kerim’s face and the glance between him and Musto. Tell us what you know about the incident, the judge asks. I don’t know anything about the incident, your honor. I retract what I said in my statement. Shock and surprise all around. Musto continues, I don’t believe that Fatmagul cheated on me. Tell us what you know, the judge asks.

Musto tells about leaving on a fishing trip and Fatma coming to say goodbye but she never showed up. Later I found out why, he says. They told me that Kerim Ilgaz was guilty. I didn’t listen to Fatmagul. I turned my back and left. Kerim told me that Selim Yasaran, Erdogan Yasaran and Vural Namli, did it. Tell us what you know with certainty, the judge asks. I know that Fatmagul would not lie, he replies. So you are retracting your previous statement, the judge asks. Yes he is. The judge calls for a recess to consider the accusations.

The parties gather in the hallway. Mustafa looks at Fatma. She just stares at him. Asu shows her disappointment in Musto.

Muka shows up at the courthouse just as the decision is to be announced: In order for the investigation to be completed, the witness Mukaddes Ketenci is not here in the court and must give her testimony and be heard. The medical reports must be reconsidered. The doctor and hospital authorities…

We see Muka trying to get into the courtroom with no luck, as the judge is giving his decision.

The judge continues, the trial is to be adjourned until November 17. The defense wins one: the defendants will be release pending the next session. But they can’t leave the country. Fatma starts to cry. Meryem shouts about the injustice. The Yasarans, et al are overjoyed. Kerim and Erdo trade words. Munir tells Mustafa they will talk later.

Muka makes a scene in the hall, shouting at Munir about his dirty tricks. The family walks past Muka as she heads to a stunned Rahmi. She tries to explain. He doesn’t want to hear it. She calls out to Fatma, forgive me.

Kadir tries to reassure Fatma all is not lost. Fatma worries about them being free and causing more harm. Kerim zeroes in on Mustafa sitting in his car. Thank goodness he just turns and walks away. Muka is still following and begging to be heard. She drops the pregnancy bomb. I am pregnant with your child, she tells Rahmi.

The rotten ricos are released from jail. Resat tells Munir they were just lucky this time. The Yasarans get ready to head back to Istanbul.
Vural wants to go abroad. There’s no way he’s going back to jail or standing trial again. Semsi tries to get him to calm down. Vural says he will do it with or without his father’s help.

Selim asks about Meltem. They tell him she went to the US. Selim says Munir was supposed to find somebody for him. He said he couldn’t find him. He asks if they know who it is? Resat would rather not talk about it now. Selim thinks Resat knows.

Erdo tells Munir that Resat didn’t trust Meltem but look what happened. Munir starts to mention Turaner’s betrayal, but Hilmiye stops him. Erdo asks if there is something he doesn’t know.

That convo is interrupted by Asu’s call to Munir, she wants the rest of her money. He assures her she will get the money. She is skeptical. She threatens to go to the prosecutor if he doesn’t give her the money, pronto. And another thing, Asu wants them to remove the guard (Yasar) from her door. Munir agrees and tells Yasar to let Asu be for now but make sure she doesn’t go to the prosecutor tomorrow.

Fatmagul #37 part 5

Yasar tells Asu he’s going. Then he says he has a doubt and asks Asu [Turkish] if the Yasarans really did it. What do you know about it? She doesn’t answer that. She asks Yasar if Ildir is very far from here. No, why do you ask? She asks if he knows where Mustafa’s house is. He knows but won’t tell. Don’t do anything stupid, he replies. He gives her brotherly advice, don’t be seen around and don’t get into trouble. Not a threat, just advice.

The family’s mood is somber. Fatma is teary and feels sick just thinking about what happened. Kadir and Omer are somewhere discussing the case. Murat wants to see his mom, but she is talking with Rahmi. Meryem sends him off to find Emre. Kerim is sitting out by the street looking despondent.

Fatma thinks Muka is trying to trick Rahmi with a pregnancy. She will exploit Rahmi’s weak spot. Fatma says, [Turkish] if he accepts her back, I won’t live in the same house with her. She ruined my life enough, I want her to stay away from me. Fatma sobs.
Kerim takes off in the truck. He crosses paths with Kadir. Kerim tells him he’s going to the pharmacy.

Muka is working on Rahmi. She wouldn’t have done this if he didn’t kick her out. blah, blah. Rahmi isn’t budging so far. She says she’s ashamed and will even abort the baby if he wants. I would never ask you to do that, he says, but how do I know? She assures him this baby is his. Muka says they can get a DNA test.

Resat tells Selim that Yasar saw Meltem leaving Mustafa’s house and adds he was probably the one who tipped Turaner. Selim calls Meltem and rips into her. I found out about you and Mustafa! You can’t say anything? Sooner or later, you will have to return and face me. No one is going to save you! Meltem cries. His parents try to calm him, and he shouts at them and vows he will get revenge.

Meltem calls Mustafa. They are out (free), she says. Mustafa confirms but says it’s not over yet. Meltem says it’s over and it’s all your fault. Those men raped your fiancée, and you gave them your testimony. Don’t you feel guilty? I hate you, I hate you all! Mustafa tells his parents he’s going to see friends.

Asu remembers Mustafa talking about his hometown. How beautiful it is and how he was going to take her there. She goes out.

Musto visits the dock where the fishing boat is. He thinks back to meeting Fatma there. He greets his friends and gets a chilly welcome from Serdar. Did I do something wrong? Why are you talking to me like this? Serdar says, you know the wind brings everything it finds, garbage, dirt, mud, and sometimes rumors. What did you hear about me, Musto asks?

Everyone talks about what happened to Fatmagul and what you did to her, Serdar says. What did I do, Mustafa asks? I heard that news when I was with you out at sea. Serdar replies, actually, we are all guilty because we didn’t try to find out what really happened. You didn’t try to stop me, Musto says. Serdar heard Fatma reported the Yasarans. They did it, and you work for them now. (Yeah, those fancy clothes and that car) Musto blames Kerim for inventing this and they all believed it.

Kerim drives to that spot.

Vural languishes in bed. But at least he ate all his meal. His parents worry about him running away. That would be an admission of guilt. Leman wants to find a psychologist. And let him tell everything, Semsi replies. Semsi is worried about another suicide attempt.

Rahmi shares his dilemma with the others. He says he will get that DNA test. He looks at Fatma, what if it’s my child? I can’t turn my back on my own child, right Fatmagul? She doesn’t have the desire to talk about it. Why because you are angry with her, Rahmi asks? You’re right. I’m angry too. But think if it is my child.

Fatmagul #37 part 6

Fatma says she’s sorry, she can’t live in the same house as Muka. I can’t look at her face like it’s nothing. She will come back and do the same damage again. Rahmi asks should we move? You don’t want us anymore? Meryem says, we should move. Fatma, Kerim and I will find a new house. It will be much better that way, we won’t be an inconvenience to anyone.

Fatma wonders where Kerim is. He could be looking for them, she says. Meryem calls. His phone is off. Kerim is sitting under the tree at that spot. At the same time Mustafa has a boat out, passing the same spot.

Selim is tearing up pics of Meltem.

Erdo is soaking in a bath, eating, drinking, relaxing. Wow, he even lit candles. His mother enters and tells him Resat is coming to discuss the sale of the house. Uh, oh. I’m not selling this house, Erdo states. Let them sell theirs. He’s adamant.

Vural has a bad dream about Fatma again. It’s in a dark courtroom setting and about his guilt at not admitting the truth in court. Ah, she ties that bandana in his mouth again. Nice. He wakes up and goes out his bedroom door leading outside. [His parents didn’t take precautions?]

No one can locate Kerim. Fatma wants to call the police. Not yet, Kadir advises and says he will go look for him. Fatma wants to go too. Kadir tells her to stay. Meryem wants to go, but Kadir says to stay with Fatma. Muka appears and asks what happened with Kerim? Fatma is worried. What if they are still around? They could hurt Kerim. Meryem says how do you know he is with them?

Rahmi realizes where he saw that man (Yasar), the guy in the hallway with that girl (Asu). He came to the restaurant the day we opened. The day they sent the flowers. He looked a little like Mustafa, blond, blue eyed. Muka says she remembers him, too.

Kadir is on the phone, maybe to Omer. They all went back to Istanbul, except Vural? Oh, okay and Mustafa? Let’s hope there’s nothing to worry about. I’ll call later.
Leman wants to peek in on Vural but Semsi talks her out of it. Vural is gone. He’s walking on a road.

Asu finds Mustafa’s house. She peeks through the gate. Halide comes out the door and tells Emin to go look for Mustafa. Asu hurries away but Halide opens the gate and sees her. Hey, you? What are you doing here? Asu stutters. Halide tells her she is not welcome here. Tell me are you still obsessed with Mustafa? Asu denies this. She doesn’t want to bother anyone. He spoke a lot about this place, she says. I was curious. I wanted to see it. I was here for the trial, I’m leaving tomorrow.

What trial, Halide asks? Fatmagul’s trial? That’s why Mustafa is here? Asu tries to get away. Halide shouts, wait! Tell me the truth. Is that why he’s here? Uhumm…Asu confirms. Are you two still together, Halide asks? No, Asu replies, I saw him today at the trial. I am not a part of his life. I’m leaving tomorrow morning. But I ask you, don’t even tell Mustafa you saw me. Asu goes.

Kadir keeps searching for Kerim. He checks in with Fatma and tells her the Yasarans went back to Istanbul. He’s searching the bars for where he could be. Fatma asks about the other. Vural? Kadir is not sure where he is but everything seems to be calm. He will call later. Meryem asks Fatma for an update. She says she called the police, no incidents were reported. Fatma thinks Kerim either went to find Mustafa or Vural. The rest are in Istanbul.

And we are out.

Thanks, Nett, for a well written, concise recap! I know how hard that is to do and you got it all with some good snark.

More telenovela magic. Reyyan appears, TWICE, in front of Azize when she doesn't have a car, doesn't drive even if she had one and we don't know how she got there. When they first showed GG's house, I was under the impression it was quite a ways from Midyat. Oh, well.

I kept wondering where the horse trailer was that brought Mavi and the white horse to GG's house. Or did he do a form of a "split" and ride both of them there? And, yes, why couldn't he just leave Mavi there as therapy instead of insisting on riding with her. Pretty funny when he himself pushed his hair back onto his forehead with a remark about going back in time to the difficult part of their relationship.

I actually thought, especially since they fooled us, that Reyyan was really going to leave on a train and we'd have some scenes of the protagonists being apart. But no. And, maybe they are more logical in the dizis. We've seen no evidence that Reyyan has two pennies to rub together.

Carmella, loved "top cockroach". Re-decorating the HAG's bedroom was a bold move.

So I think last night sealed the deal. Ayise is part of the note-writer's plan. But it's a bit confusing since there's no Azize at the Aslanbey konak to plot against.

Fatmagul

Dear Dondi, I am grateful for your excellent recaps that never miss a beat. You make every line and action clear. As life seems to be spinning out of control all over again, this well-written , fascinating story and your detailed recaps offer a much needed, much appreciated escape for a little while .

These characters and their back stories are so carefully and completely crafted that they seem to come to life and feel real. Perhaps, those characters who are determined to fight the good fight for justice might encourage us to be brave and keep going through our stressful times, too.

This episode could have been subtitled " Anguish ," as we see the misery so many characters are experiencing . Listening to lies when you know the truth is frustrating and discouraging.

Meltem is an entitled idiot . She makes one bad decision after another.

Fatmagul is now worried about Kerim . She is falling for him no matter how much she fights it . Stories of true love , real and fictional , are always good for our hearts and souls. Loving and being loved is all that matters any place, any time. Love keeps us going.

Thanks so much, dondi! As usual you described everything beautifully. I wasn't expecting the trial yesterday. I suppose I'm used to Telemundo's Friday cliffhangers.

Oh, Kerim! He's so perfect sometimes and so lacking in impulse control at others. Speaking of perfect, the restaurant was a stroke of genius. Of course it was as farfetched as how comfortable the house they're living in now is. They show some quick scenes of painting, etc., and presto-changeo an empty space is converted into a very pretty restaurant.

What I meant by stroke of genius is Kerim understanding that part of Fatmagul's healing is feeling useful. She perked up some working at the local restaurant, but the owner was a jerk about giving her some time off. You can see her blossoming at being in charge of her own enterprise.

I'm sorry they cut Fatmagul standing up in court staring at the rotten ricos. That seems very dramatic and I don't know why they cut it.

Of course we're going to be subjected to Erdogan trying to act on his obsession with Fatmagul.

Mr. Google tells me you can test the blood of a pregnant woman as early as 8 or 9 weeks and do a paternity test from that. I was wondering why they were behaving as if Rahmi could find out before birth if it's his child.

I finally found something to agree with Erdogan about. It seemed to me like most of the crap that put the Yasarans in financial trouble happened after his father died. Why does his mother have to sell her house?

I am still pretty confused about the geography. I thought Kerim and the rest were IN Istanbul, just in the outskirts. But my impression of Kadir's remark about the rotten ricos being in Istanbul almost sounded like he was reassuring Fatmagul and the rest that they weren't close.

Anyway, I'm a bit glad the Warriors game for tonight is cancelled (too many Denver Nuggets players being in the COVID protocol for them to have the required number of players available). I feel like way too much of a couch potato already and don't usually watch Fatmagul until the evening.

Fatmagul

Tough episode. Dondi356, thanks for laying it all out.

It is interesting that Kadir seems to be the one leading the prosecution. In the US it would be the government, in particular, a District Attorney leading the prosecution.

They were so close to getting rid of Mukaddes, but she now has the new baby as a hook to keep holding on to the family.

Novelera, the trial was in the province where the crime happened. The family stayed at a hotel for the trial.

Thank you Dondi once again you capture every detail. This really was a difficult episode. The idea that the justice system can and sadly often does re-victimize victims by making them sit and listen to their abuser's lies is so sad. I understand why Fatma wants to be there but it is sad that she has to experience it.

Mustafa judging Asu for testifying after everything he has done is the height of hypocrisy as she pointed out but I guess we learned the answer to Kadir's question, no, Mustafa isn't able to look Fatma in the eyes and tell his lies. And considering how the trail was going I am wondering if Mustafa is just delusional enough to believe his FINALLY telling the truth makes him her hero, sigh. Of course his honestly lasted until he met up with his friends and started lying all over again.

Meltem isn't very bright but she at least wants justice. I am just glad there's at least a few characters that can't be bought.

I agree with you Susanlynn, these characters are so complex and well crafted there really aren't any two dimensional side characters. They all feel real and most of them are very compelling.

Thank you Dondi for pointing out that the show was originally broadcast once a way I am sure the timing would feel a lot less strange over three weeks rather than 3 days!

Lucio that is an interesting observation about the DA vs Fatma having her own lawyer I hadn't thought about it but you're exactly right it is a big difference in the justice systems.
