Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #13
Part 1 of 4

In the Turkish version, with the singing of the Azan (call to prayer) in the background, Miran asks Esma, why are you putting out HAG’s size 12 boots? Esma looks sad and moves away from the konak doorway. In the snowy courtyard, the Aslanbey family and guards surround a wooden coffin covered in a black and green shroud. Miran enters the courtyard and we see that the real Miran is dreaming, as he sleeps against his pink pillowcase. In her room, HAG is twirling her worry beads and leans against the headrest of the chair.

In the dream sequence, Miran looks at the coffin and then at all who surround it. Only Gonul looks truly sad. Not believing, Miran attempts to race up the staircase in the very deep snow, to HAG’s room. In real life, Miran dreams and says, don’t die, don’t die. We see HAG, in the chair, close her eyes and then drop her beads, we say, please die, please die. In the dream, a distraught Miran enters HAG’s bedroom and finds it empty, only her beads, scarf and broach are on the chair. Grandmother? Grandmother? Miran wakes in a cold sweat, saying, Grandmother?

Looking over to the sleeping Reyyan, he gets out of bed and heads across the hallway into HAG’s room. She looks like the sleeping dead as Miran launches himself onto her lap, begging her not to leave him. HAG wakes up and strokes his hair. Surprised, Miran says, you are okay! I thought you were dead. Azize looks pleasantly surprised by his outburst of emotional relief and says, I am not dead, my son. Miran tells her of his vivid, bad dream, as she holds his face in her hand and then strokes his hair. We all have to die, she says. I don’t want to see you die, says Miran. You will see a lot of people die, she responds, and you think you will die too, but you won’t.

Reyyan enters the bedroom and sees the childlike Miran with his head in HAG’s lap. A look passes between HAG and Reyyan as she tries not to look at Miran with too much pity and leaves the room. In her room, Reyyan is visibly shaken by what she witnessed. She thinks, your love for your grandmother is very strong Miran. No matter what evidence I show you, it will be hard for you to believe. She prays for help and guidance to light her way to help him.

The next morning, Reyyan watches Miran as he sleeps. When he wakes up, he immediately notices that she is sad. They both think to themselves for a moment, Why is she sad? Did I do something? (Miran) This is the first time we are sad together in this bed. (Reyyan). They both speak at the same time, Miran tells her to go first. She says that she had a bad dream that HAG was going to separate them. He places her hand on his heart and says as long as it is beating, no one will separate them. He asks her to smile as he hugs her in the crook of his arm.

At the Sadoglu breakfast table, Handan asks Melike for Hanife. She is cleaning rooms while everyone is at breakfast. Nasuh is not happy that Harun continues to join them every day. He tells him to set a wedding date or leave. Harun agrees that he is being rude and leaves the konak with Handan showing him out.

Hanife enters Yaren’s messy room and complains about how bad and messy she is. Gul comes in crying and says that her doll has been injured, she shows Hanife the cotton stuffing protruding from the doll’s back. Hanife promises to fix it and Gul leaves to play. After a few tense moments with Hanife tugging at the zipper and this recapper convinced that the letter would pop right out, Hanife gets frustrated and tosses the doll on the chair.

Part 2 of 4

She has another letter to find! She remembers the conversation with Harun and starts looking for the letter everywhere in Yaren’s room. Initially the search is futile, but then, looking around the room, she notices a crooked picture frame. Sure enough, the first letter is hidden there. Reading the letter, Hanife thinks, this will end everything. (Just check the dolly letter Hanife, that really will!).

ReyMir walk down into the courtyard. Miran is off to work for a few hours. They have a nice moment together saying goodbye. Reyyan, looking lovely in a red sweater dress, hugs him tightly and reminds him that she loves him. Without all the screaming and roaches, it seems like a normal couple saying goodbye for the day.

Grannie Sukran comes into the kitchen where Esma is making breakfast. GS is rather cool with Esma asking her where Miran is. Esma says he has gone to work. With Reyyan listening outside of the kitchen, Esma tells GS that Dilsah did have some happiness after Miran was born. She loved him very much and was able to spend several summers with him before she died. This seems to cheer GS up a bit and makes Reyyan cry.

Outside the Sadoglu konak, Hanife, as a ruse, is carrying the trash out. Harun is following her in his car. Did you find the letter? I did, she responds, handing it to him. You will give it to the correct person, Harun indicates. To who? She responds.

In the fancy stallion painting office, Firat stares out the window, remembering his convo with Hazar and Hazar telling him to ask Esma to explain the truth. Miran walks in and both are cool with each other, not willing to share secrets anymore. Firat is frustrated and knows that Miran is hiding things from him. Firat begins to tell Miran that everything is falling down around them and neither one is just going to sit around and not investigate. Firat is beginning to doubt a lot of things, including the car attack, the fire and all the people coming back from the past that they were not aware of. It seems that everything is pointing back to Azize. Firat pleads with Miran to tell him what he knows so they can work together and figure out what is going on. Miran agrees, but says they can deal with that later. What is up with the Sadoglu’s taking over? Firat says it is all HAG’s fault for allowing them to regain control of their assets and shares in the company. Are we really going to allow Azat to work here? Miran says, he is Elif’s husband, for now we have no other choice.

The conversation is interrupted by the assistant brining in the results of the license plate investigation that Firat requested. Miran snatches the envelope out of her hands and reads the results to himself. He is surprised to learn that the car belongs to an Aslanbey (hmmm, who could that be??). Miran leaves Firat to work and in the dark. On his way out, he calls the lawyer who investigated the license plate and demands to know who the Aslanbey is that owns the car.

At the outdoor Midyat restaurant, the handsome Filipos, Nasuh and Yusuf take a seat at a table. Nasuh gets straight to the point, so you spoke with Hazar? Yes, says Filipos, but don’t worry, I didn’t tell him everything my father told me. What did Gabriel tell you? Everything he knew, says Phil. Both Yusuf and Nasuh look very uncomfortable. Then why didn’t you tell Hazar, snaps Nasuh, why did you just talk about the ring? Because I followed my fathers last wishes. He wanted to spare your son. But know this, as he leans into to Nasuh’s space, one day your son will find out what you did and you are going straight to hell! Before that, you will burn in this world first, Nasuh aga.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #13
Part 3 of 4

Nasuh looks like he is about to have a stroke, but says, what happens to me is none of your concern. Yes, this is true, says Phil, but I wonder, how does your conscience let you sleep at night? How do you live with all the evil you done?

Nasuh flashes back to the past where Dilsah is waiting inside the office of Master Gabriel. Nasuh is immediately annoyed that Gabriel called him to meet only to find “her” sitting here. He tries to leave but Gabriel grabs his arm and asks Nasuh to at least listen to Dilsah as she is the woman that Hazar has chosen to be his love. Dilsah tries to explain that she needs his help, but nasty Nasuh just shuts her down.

Gabriel explains that the Aslanbey want Dilsah for their son, Dilsah’s mother is not willing to allow this to happen but cannot stop them from taking Dilsah by force. Gabriel mediates on behalf of Dilsah and says that she was meant to be the bride of the Sadoglu and Hazar, she cannot wait for Hazar to return from the military. Nasuh must take Dilsah into his home and protect her as the prometida of Hazar.

Nasty Nasuh says no way will he take in this nobody of a girl for his son. He tells Gabriel, if you want her so badly, then you take her in for your son! To Dilsah, Nasuh says that Hazar will forget her during his military service and he will ensure he finds a woman dignified to carry the name Sadoglu and certainly it is not her! To Gabriel, he threats him not to tell anyone about what occurred here that day. He struts out of the office, leaving Dilsah in tears.

In present day, Nasuh gives Phil the same threat he gave his father, keep your pie hole shut. Anyway, both Dilsah and Gabriel are dead, they cannot verify your story. I will keep my mouth shut, says Phil, but not because I am afraid of you but because I do not want to hurt the memory of a woman who is gone and the family she left behind. With that, the handsome Phil stands, saying, you are a bad person Nasuh, a bad man who has no mercy even for his own son. Nasuh stands and says you are crossing the line. No says, Phil, you did. I will not share the truth, but know that the truth will always come out. Go wait in your majestic stone mansion because I think that day is coming soon. With that, my telenovio stoically leaves Nasuh shaking his jowls. Nasuh chases him out of the restaurant demanding to know if Phil was actually threatening the great Nasuh?

The much taller Phil gives Nasuh a pathetic once over look as if to say “please Nasuh, don’t waste my time.” As the stare down is going on, Miran conveniently drives past the alleyway that they are in. He thinks, so you also have a hand in all of this Nasuh, as the handsome Filipos disdainfully walks away from Nasuh. Miran and Nasuh drive away. Miran ends up in front of the Sadoglu konak, he barges in yelling for Hazar. Gul, her doll and the roaches show up. Gul chastises Miran for yelling like that especially for her dad. Melike takes Gul away as Hazar tells her that Miran just wanted to make sure he heard him.

Miran tells Hazar that he is a dishonest man. What lies have they fed you now, demands Hazar. You are the only liar, says Miran, I saw your father talking with Filipos. Did you threaten him? Cihan gets into convo and demands that Miran leave. There is the standard pushing, shoving and yelling. Hazar again tells Miran that his head and heart are so full of lies, there is no room for the truth. Miran does his song and dance about Hazar never being able to change what happened in the past.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #13
Part 4 of 4

Hazar tells him he has no idea why his father met with Phil, but he does know that he never hurt Miran’s mother. He tells Miran to leave. Ask your father, says Miran, ask him, but there is no need, you already know the truth. Miran leaves as Elif watches from the balcony in disgust. Hazar follows after Miran and Handan asks, who is this Filipos? I have no idea, says Cihan. Hanife has listened to the entire conversation.

In her room, Yaren can’t wait to show the letter and detonate the bomb. Much to her surprise the letter is no longer in its hiding place. Where is it? Where? She trips over the cleaning bucket Hanife left in her room. Yaren looks crazed and tears out of her room, looking for Hanife. She finds her in the kitchen and promptly takes a knife to Hanife’s throat, demanding to know where she hid the letter. Hanife is surprisingly cool and snarky. What will your grandfather do to you knowing that you kept that letter and allowed your uncle to nearly die? Yaren threatens to kill her, but Hanife pushes the knife away from her throat, stands and tells Yaren that she doesn’t have the avocados to follow through with her threat, she on the other hand, is not afraid to do what she says she will do. Hanife walks out of the kitchen, leaving Yaren huffing and puffing.

Hazar is driving and thinking about what Miran told him. He vows, again, to prove to Miran all the lies he has been told. He turns his car toward the cemetery.

Miran arrives back at the konak and finds Reyyan and Grannie Sukran (GS) about to head out. Reyyan tells him that GS has never been to Dilsah’s grave because HAG never told her where she was buried. Reyyan encourages him to take her, alone, so they can bond together over the one thing that binds them together. Miran is nice and says, lets go Grannie, I will take you to your daughter. Reyyan calls him back and coaches him to let GS say what she needs to say, even if it hurts him, let her cry and get it out of her system, let her hug him, so she can smell her daughter in him. Miran gives her a huge hug, that GS approves of. He thanks Reyyan and helps GS out to the car. Reyyan smiles behind them as they leave.

Hazar shows up at Dilsah’s gave. He tells her again that he didn’t know what was going on, he lost her trust. He cries that he is tired (like father like son) my heart is so tired. I am called a low-life, a liar, a murderer. They don’t know how much I love you and I would never hurt you. They don’t know about us. Don’t worry, I won’t hurt you son Miran, but I will find the proof to prove to him I never hurt you. I will erase the hurt and anger in his heart. You know, he looks so much like you. His eyelashes tremble when he is sad. He cries, I wish I had died instead of you.

Miran arrives with GS at the cemetery and sees Hazar at his mother’s grave. Another fight ensues between the two. Grannie Sukran tells them it is clear they do not respect each other but stopping yelling and fighting out of respect for the dead. Who is this man Nieto? He is the one responsible for killing my mother and father, this is Hazar Sadoglu. Hazar Sadoglu? asks GS, as the episode ends.

VVS , thank you for an excellent recap of all the dark confusion.

Watching Miran boohooing with his head in bad granny' s lap was just too much for me . Azz was delighted to have Miran back under her spell. Rey watching this scene...uff. I still don't get why Rey and Mir seem hopelessly in love and cuddling in bed, but she still won't be intimate with him .Hey, maybe that's what she as to do to break the spell of the evil queen. Just sayin......

Outstanding recap VVS! Precisely going over the good, bad, and ugly in such detail is a gift, and the time and effort is much appreciated!

Ok, so starting with the good:
Not much this episode. The only good, imo was Filipo telling Nasty Nasuh exactly what he thought of him. The reasons that I didn’t like Nasuh became so apparent in this episode and his arrogance is sickening! I admire Filipo’s stance and how he is making things right for his Dad without sugar coating anything! Granny Sukran is always good too! Love her!

The Bad:
Miran! Arrogant jerk that he is saw one interaction between Filipo and Nasuh and goes off running in the wrong direction with the wrong conclusion! He gives no one the benefit of the doubt except Azizes lying azz. I really hope Reyyan leaves him behind these actions. He needs to check himself cause it’s apparent that nobody else can. I hope Hazar puts a whooping on his crybaby, tantrum throwing behind! Plus I was so pissed at him for upsetting and traumatizing Gul! He just doesn’t think when he starts ranting! Gul shoulda kicked him in the shin!

The ugly

Yaren and Hanife. Yaren’s otherwise pretty face turned into a gnarley gremlin’s as she held that knife to Hanife’s throat making threats that Hanife didn’t give two rats azz about! Sooooo ugly!!! Then Hanife who’s expression instantly turns into one of those scary stone gorgon’s when nobody’s looking or it’s Yaren! Both are ugly to the bone, through and through, inside out——and I don’t think ANYTHING will change that!

Thanks again VVS! I really do appreciate you recappers!

herc

Thanks very much, VVS, for this excellent recap! I don't know how you find the time, but I appreciate that you've watched the Turkish version as well as the Spanish. And though parts of this episode were hard for me to watch (Miran's scenes crying in Azize's lap and acting like BM (um, Bad Miran) at the Sadoglu compound), your snark made them much more bearable (e.g.,"we say, please die, please die").

OMG, I almost lost it when Gul handed Hanife her "broken" doll and Hanife started tugging at the back. Even after she tossed it aside, I was afraid she'd come back to it. In retrospect, it was clever of the writers to scare us, then have Hanife find the first letter instead. The second letter, where Dilsah says that Miran is Hazar's son, is the more important one. I wonder when that one will finally be discovered, and by whom? Possibly not until close to the dizi's end.

As for the first letter, when Harun told Hanife that she should give it to "someone else," my first thought was Hazar. Harun does seem to be working to bring down Azize, and Hazar seems to be the person Azize's venganza seems aimed at most. (Wow, three "seems" in one sentence, but it's hard to do more than guess at this point.) Though I have the same reservation I had when I saw Gul hand the doll to Hanife: isn't it a bit early in the dizi for this? But the person Hanife is supposed to give the letter to is almost surely someone in the Sadoglu konak. I somehow doubt it's Nasuh, though I guess that's possible.

On a different matter, why does Esma say to Sukran that Dilsah was "able to spend several summers with him [Miran] before she died"? Is "summers" just a poetic way of saying "years"? Or was Dilsah unable to see Miran for most of each year?

herc

Thank you Susanlynn, carmella and Juanita for the excellent comments and questions!

Susanlynn, I was stunned by Miran’s childish reaction to his bad dream. Azize as you pointed out, just loved it. Reyyan definitely needs to move the intimacy along to break the spell!

How clever carmella! The Good, Bad and Ugly! I wish I thought about labeling the episode that way because you are so right!

Filipos standing up to Nasty Nasuh was definitely a “good.” I have a feeling there is more behind the Dilsah story with Nasuh. She didn’t mention being pregnant in that meeting, so I wonder if Nasuh does indeed know that Miran is Hazar’s son?

Miran was a jerk in how he treated Gul, usually she is able to calm him down, but not last night. I get whiplash with his mood swings.

Yaren and Hanife were definitely ugly last night. In the Turkish version, Hanife calls Yaren a “yellow centipede.”

Juanita, the scene with Grannie Sukran and Esma in the kitchen wasn’t in the Turkish version, so I was not able to compare the dialogue or references. I didn’t get the impression that Dilsah only saw Miran in the summer months, but more like Esma was referring to fun summer stuff. I recall Miran talking about visiting the pond in Urfa with his mother during the summer. I agree that Harun is working with the Aslanbey Note Master to bring down Azize.

Herc

A beautifully written recap, VVS! Thanks so much. I didn’t have time to check the Turkish, so I appreciate that you did.

I think Miran is stuck in time as a three year old, when the trauma of his parents death occurred. He’s never grown out of temper tantrums and meltdowns and sulking. Hardly grown up behavior. The scene when he begged the HAG not to die was too much for me, too, Susanlynn. He’s bearable when he’s with Reyyan. And as much as I like romance, at times it gets a little too sappy between them.

I hope Hanife gave Hazar that letter! That might stop Miran in his tracks. But maybe not Azize. It seems she really wants revenge on Nasuh, not Hazar. We need to know what Nasuh did to Azize.

Speaking of that big old walrus… what a hypocrite. He nixed a marriage between Dilsah and Hazar? She wasn’t good enough? Didn’t he love a servant in his house when he was a young man? He threw Dilsah to the wolves. He’s got to pay for his sins.

Juanita, I think that was just Esma’s way of saying years.

VVS, our posts crossed. Funny that Sukran and Esma scene wasn't in the Turkish. Your explanation of "summers" is a good one.

Interesting if Nasuh knew Dilsah was pregnant. Did he doubt the baby was Hazar's?

Yellow centipede works for Yaren. She's a creepy crawler.

dondi356

herc

dondi356, I think you are correct that Miran is stuck in time and does act like a 3-year-old. We all agree that scene was over the top. In fact, the whole scene in the Turkish version was very long, from Miran seeing the boots outside to him busting in to HAG’s room and finding it empty. It was dramatic, the music haunting but rather overdone. Nasuh is a total hypocrite! If Azzie is Ayse, what he did to her must be hugely horrible. If he does know Dilsah is pregnant, I do think he probably doubted the child was Hazar's but still, he has to now wonder.

Fatmagul #23 part 1

Resat and Selim tease Munir about dating Gaye. [No idea why Gaye would want Munir. It’s not like she’s a poor girl.] Resat giving relationship advice is a laugh. He tells Munir it’s time you get married again and have kids.

Meltem is packing for the move into the new house. Perihan helps pack Selim’s things and finds the wedding band from that fateful night. IIRC, he had bought an identical one to cover. [don’t remember, was that cut?] Perihan tells Meltem he found the ring but kept the “spare”. Meltem packs the ring, just in case.

Vural enters Resat’s office and tells them he’s quitting. He’s not doing well. It’s impossible to be here and be well. I can’t take it anymore, he says. Resat asks him to sit and talk. Vural says he can’t be around Mustafa. It’s torture. They get Vural to sit but he’s still upset. I can’t stay here and wait for my death when this guy is here like he was an executioner, he says. Resat tries to assure Vural there is no danger from Mustafa being close. He’s more of a threat from afar. Vural isn’t buying it.

Resat says here is the proof and he opens the safe. The gun is missing! Munir calls the head of security so they can check the video.

Muka is on the phone with Salih asking directions. She spots his car and asks the taxi driver to stop. So does Meryem and she sees Muka get in Salih’s car. There’s the typical two kiss greeting.

Salih says he had little work today, so he decided to call her. Muka questions this choice of meeting place. Salih says let’s go eat. He puts his hand on her thigh. We can talk a while, remember old times. She removes his hand saying, I’m not that stupid Mukaddes anymore. They exit the car and enter the restaurant. Meryem shuts her truck and gets out, too.

The place is empty. Salih says there’s not many people here in the mornings. [Turkish] So you’ve been here before? Is this where you bring all your lady friends, Muka asks.
Meryem moves in for a closer look. She sees the writing on Salih’s vehicle “Mercanlı Wholesale Food” and remembers Muka brought home a bag full of stuff from there. She peeks through the window.

Salih says they will have wine and Muka says she won’t drink. Are you afraid to get drunk, Salih asks? Starting now, the one who should be scared is you, Muka replies. He can see she hasn’t really changed. He takes her hand and kisses it.

Meryem sees and that’s all she needs to see. She is stunned, regains some composure and gets back in the truck. Kerim calls. He asks if Muka met with Munir. Meryem says she doesn’t know. She got an emergency call from the herbalist. Someone burned their hand and she went to help. Kerim senses something is not right. He asks if she is okay. She says she’s alright, but Kerim still thinks something is wrong. She says she’s driving and quickly closes the call. Kerim is suspicious.

The Yasarans watch security footage. They see Vural at the safe. Resat is pissed. He tells Selim to call Vural, but then the footage shows Erdo entering the room. They both leave. Resat is at a loss, are they in this together, he asks? A little later in the recording, we seed Erdo come back into the room and take the gun from the safe. He boldly waves it at the camera and smiles.

Erdo walks right into the lions’ den and asks, you started without me? Resat lunges at him and Munir holds him back. Erdo tells his “amca” to be more careful next time. Erdo says he did this for his own protection. Up to now everything has been done to protect Selim. Resat is livid. Erdo says what difference does it make if I hide the gun or if you hide it. Munir wants to know where the gun is [did you think he would tell?] Erdo says it’s in a safe place.

Kerim is out shopping after work. He enters a men’s clothing store.

Fatmagul #23 part 2

Salih tries to push alcohol on Muka. She resists. She tells Salih to go easy on his drink, he has to drive. Don’t worry, he says, there are rooms upstairs, we can go up to relax a little. Muka declines. [Turkish] She adds this is the first time I see you as you are. I thought the person I knew back then was different than this one. That was that Salih I wanted. The things that are out of our reach look better than they actually are. I lived with that dream for years, she says.

He pushes the alcohol again. She says, you never loved me. He says, we loved each other. Muka tells him, no, I loved you. You had fun. You gave me false hope we were going to get married. He says he explained what happened. Slimy Salih says, here we are again, let’s take advantage. Let’s talk about nice things.

Okay, she says, let me show you something nice. Muka takes out a pic of Murat. She does the math for Salih. You told me to fix it, but I didn’t. Murat is your son. Cara de impactada, Salih.

In the evening Kerim is on the street, waiting for Fatma to leave work. She walks up and he comments she is late today. They were very busy at work Fatma tells him She asks why he waited for her. He says, I called home to ask if anything was needed and Meryem told me you were not home, so I came to look for you. And…she says. Nothing, I just wanted to come, he says, I wanted to see you. Eye roll from Fatma, and she clicks her tongue. [hey, she didn’t yell at him!] They start walking.

He tells her his work ended early so he went shopping. She notes that he’s been coming home with something new, the computer, the truck. Kerim says Meryem gave him a share from the house sale. [Turkish] We are buying what is necessary. She told me to buy clothes for myself, too. Fatma tells him, you’ll be starting a new job, you’ll need new clothes. Aren’t you going to work with that friend of yours? [hmmm…]

Kerim says she hasn’t called yet. Kristen will call when she gets here. Then we’ll see. If it suits me, I’ll start working. It could be nice, he says. Fatma is clearly irritated. He notices. She starts walking faster.

Back at the house, Rahmi waits by the window for Muka and Meryem sits on the couch looking troubled. Muka arrives home in a taxi. Rahmi is all over her with concern and questions. She spins a big BS story and tells him she got lost while looking at houses. But now she’s exhausted so she doesn’t want to answer any more questions. Rahmi is happy she’s okay.

Meryem looks disgusted and Muka notices. She asks what’s wrong. Nada. Muka leaves the room and Meryem follows. She tells Muka they have to talk and hands Muka her coat. Muka is at a loss for what Meryem want to talk about. Meryem says, how about “Mercan Wholesale Foods”. I followed you, Mukaddes. I saw you with this man.

Nervous Muka says he’s a man from their town and she turns to walk. Meryem says, you can’t fool me. No one meets with a friend secretly. No one goes out with a friend without saying anything. In Turkish Muka says Meryem has a dirty mind. Meryem asks, do you realize what you are doing? This is bad.

Fatma is walking fast, ahead of Kerim. He says don’t run, we can walk together. You don’t have to come to find me either, she replies. Kerim responds, I have to if your SIL is going to continue making trouble for us. Kerim tells Fatma that Meryem called him at work. Muka left the house and Meryem followed. It must have something to do with the Yasarans. Fatma says she doesn’t believe anything that Muka says, all she does is lie. Kerim tells her that Meryem wanted to keep following Muka but she had to turn back.

dondi356

Fatmagul #23 part 3

Muka is still trying to BS Meryem. It’s just an old friend, that’s it. Meryem says, you have a husband, you have a son, Mukaddes. You have responsibilities, don’t hurt them this way. Stop seeing this man. Meryem goes in the house.

Muka stays outside and makes a call to Salih. She doesn’t see Fatma and Kerim approaching but they see her. They rush to eavesdrop on the call. Muka tells Salih she can’t stay in this house. The MIL of my SIL saw us. She won’t keep her mouth shut. She will tell my husband. Fatma and Kerim hear her say, I have money we will rent a place and live there with our son. Listen Salih, listen. You left me pregnant at that time. You have to take care of us. Salih… I am the mother of your child. Fatma is thunderstruck.

There’s an edit here: Kerim pulls Fatma away so she doesn't confront Muka. They go to the shed. Did you hear, she asks Kerim, she said “I’m the mother of your son”. “Murat should know who his real father is”. Kerim tries to keep Fatma calm. Isn’t Murat my brother’s son, she asks, is she cheating on my brother? Has she lied to me and my brother all this time? Kerim adds, and Murat. Fatma wants to go after Muka but Kerim stops her. Think about your brother and Murat. Don’t say anything until we really know. Kerim puts his hands on Fatma’s shoulder and back and helps her to a chair. [She does not flinch or tell him not to touch her!]

Fatma cries, what kind of a woman does something like this? Kerim tells her maybe Muka is making something up to pressure someone. Who was she talking to, Fatma asks? Kerim says to be patient and they will find out.

Meanwhile, Muka goes into the kitchen to help Meryem prepare the meal as if nothing happened. Meryem is frosty towards Muka, who tells her don’t exaggerate, this isn’t important. Meryem shoots her a dagger of a look. Meryem can’t take it anymore and goes to her room.

Meryem calls Kerim, where are you? He tells her he’s on his way, what’s up? Nothing, she replies, you’re not here and neither is Fatmagul. She was worried. He says that Fatma is with him and they are coming together. Muka listens at Meryem’s door, relieved that she revealed nothing.

Fatma goes to leave again and Kerim stops her. Your SIL is in the kitchen, she will wonder why you were here. If anyone has to explain, it’s her, Fatma replies. Kerim reminds her she has to play it cool for now, until they find out what happened. He says they can go out when the coast is clear.

Meryem puts on her coat to get some air and Rahmi notices her bad mood. He asks Muka if something happened. Muka says she doesn’t know. Fatma and Kerim watch everyone from the shed and wait for their chance to leave. Muka tells Rahmi she will go out to see Meryem because she is worried [about herself, not Meryem]

Muka wants to know why Meryem is acting this way. I told you that you misunderstood, she says. Why don’t you believe me, Muka asks? Meryem says she believes what she saw. I saw you holding hands and looking into each other’s eyes. How could I misunderstand? Fatma and Kerim hear this from the shed. Meryem knows, Fatma says. Kerim tells Fatma that Meryem was following her. She suspected that Muka was going to see Munir. And then she told me couldn’t follow anymore because someone who was sick called her, but I guess she did, he says.

Fatma finally gets the chance to leave and sneaks in from the back. Rahmi thought she was Muka. He tells her he was waiting for her at the front window. He was worried. He tells Fatma that Meryem was upset and Muka went out to look for her. Rahmi notices that Fatma looks sad. What happened, he asks. She puts her arms around his neck and starts to cry.

Fatmagul #23 part 4

Kerim heads into the house and interrupts Rahmi and Fatma. Rahmi asks him if he saw Meryem and Muka out in the garden. No. Rahmi says now he is worried and wants to go see them, but he sees them returning to the house. Kerim takes this chance to remind Fatma not to say anything.

Muka calls for Fatma from the kitchen. She can’t stand to hear her SIL’s voice and covers her ears. She retreats to the bathroom and cries. Kerim tells Muka Fatma is in the bathroom and he leaves.

Vural is packing and Semsi asks where are you going? I don’t know, anywhere, Vural replies. Semsi says to stop fooling around and he grabs Vural’s clothes. Let go, Vural shouts, let me go! Semsi asks about work and Vural tells him he quit. Semsi wants to talk calmly. He tells Vural he needs help. A psychologist, Vural asks, and what? Tell him a story? There’s no other solution, Semsi says.

Vural begins, you don’t understand. If I can’t tell the truth, therapy is useless. If I can’t get out what I carry inside, how do I resolve this? How do I remove this weight from me? Vural starts to cry. I’m shattered. I disgust myself. Each day I hate myself more.

Resat and Selim show up to speak with Vural. Leman is concerned.

Vural tells his dad, I see her in my dreams each night. The same nightmare. It will pass, Semsi says. No, it won’t, Vural replies. Sometimes even when I’m awake, I hear that girl’s screams. I see her eyes like a ghost in my head.

Resat, Selim and Leman enter the room. Resat asks to be left alone with Vural. Semsi doesn’t want to leave. Don’t you see my son? He’s very confused. Resat asks Vural if he’s going someplace. Semsi steps in again, don’t you see how he is? He’s trying to forget. He’s trying to get away. Don’t complicate this. Resat raises his voice, I’m doing this for him! Everything was for them since the beginning. I came to fix what he has done. Please leave us. Semsi and Leman go.

Resat tells Vural about the gun being taken from the safe. Do you know where it is? Vural says it wasn’t him. Resat knows. You tried, he says, but you couldn’t. Selim says, we saw you on the security camera. Erdo stole the gun, Resat says, [Turkish] he didn’t deny it. He wanted it as insurance for himself. He wants the power in his hands. He stood before his uncle and declared war. Erdo has become a very dangerous man for all of us.

Vural says he doesn’t care. I won’t work with you, he says, I’m leaving here. Resat laughs, while Erdo has that gun, you’re not safe anywhere. He didn’t bring you to the company to help you, but to become stronger. He saw you were weak and used that to his benefit. You can’t deal with this by yourself.

Vural doesn’t want to deal with anyone. He just wants to go. Selim says if you don’t find out [where the gun is] he will destroy us. Vural repeats he wants no part, he wants to go. Resat won’t permit it. Escaping is not the solution, he says. He tells him to get away for a few days to clear his mind, but they should stick together. As long as you are by my side, Resat says, nothing will happen.

Erdo has contacted Gaye to meet him at a bar. She is anxious to know why he wanted to meet. He said it was important. You can guess what we are going to talk about more or less, he tells her. Gaye guesses Meltem and Selim. No, Erdo says, about us. Or really, about Munir Telci. She asks him how much he’s had to drink. First one, he replies.

Erdo tells her she shouldn’t have gone to dinner with Munir. She says that’s not his problem. He says it is because he likes her so he is warning her. Gaye says she doesn’t owe him explanations. Just because you’re a friend, she says, that doesn’t give you the right to meddle in my life. Erdo says you don’t realize how bad that man is for you. If he’s going after you, it’s my right to tell you how he is.

Fatmagul #23 part 5

Munir shows up at Erdo’s house. He’s on a search for the gun. Hilmiye opens the safe in Erdo’s room. There is no gun. Hilmye is pissed at Munir.

Everyone is in the living room. Clueless Rahmi plays around with his son and Fatma, Meryem and Kerim look very uneasy. Dinner will be ready in 5 mins., but Kerim suggests to Meryem, let’s go out. Fatma says she’s going, too. That gets Muka’s attention, and she questions Fatma. Fatma leaves without a word.

Ha, ha… Fatma goes to the truck and Kerim tells her to sit in the front. Let Meryem sit in the back because of her neck. Not too thrilled, Fatma gets in the front.

Muka begs Meryem not to tell Fatma or Kerim. Don’t make this a bigger deal. Do it for Murat. Meryem says she won’t tell but Muka has to stop seeing this man. Ok, whatever, Muka says.

Meryem gets in the truck and they take off. She says this was a good idea. Fatma asks her, what did you see? Who did you see my SIL with?

Back home, Muka gets a text from Salih, “call me”. Muka heads to the bathroom. Salih is pissed. What are you doing, he says, you’re complicating my life. I have a family, two daughters. She reminds him he has three children. He accuses her of setting a trap for him. Don’t expect anything from me, he says, I’m not risking my marriage. If anyone finds out, I’m done. My father will take everything. I’ll be left with nothing! Muka says she has money. You can start a business and we can leave. He threatens her, don’t get in my way or I’ll kill you. [wow, take a drink!]

Muka starts to cry, what are you saying. He repeats, if you get in my way I’ll kill you. I’ll kill you! (drink, drink) I’m the mother of your son, she says. How do I know he’s my son, Salih asks? May God punish you, she says. Salih warns her not to call again. She cries, you’re disgusting. You have no heart, you’re cruel. He hangs up.

Kerim stops at a restaurant. Meryem asks Fatma if she heard Muka correctly. Oh, Fatma heard her very clearly. Kerim, too. They get seated. Meryem says Muka made her promise not to tell anyone. Fatma asks where she saw them, an intimate setting? Meryem says what difference does it make, they were together.

Fatma says she had to hold back from ripping Muka’s head off. What can we do? How am I going to tell my brother? How am I going to tell Murat? Fatma starts to cry, she’s shattered. You can’t tell him, Meryem says. Kerim asks how can we solve this without hurting Rahmi or Murat? Meryem says no matter what, they are going to suffer. Kerim mentions they heard her talking about buying a house. She is preparing to leave Rahmi.

Meryem asks how Muka and Rahmi got together. Was it arranged? Fatma says it happened right after her parents died. One day my brother came and said he was getting married. I never met her before.

Fatma flashes back to meeting Muka for the first time. Rahmi tells his sister to fix her hair and behave. She asks, if you don’t get married, will you be sad? Yes, he replies, she will take care of us. She will wash the dishes, wash the clothes. She will be like a mother for you. [how sad to know it turned out this way] Fatma asks, what if I don’t like her? Don’t say that, Rahmi says. She’s nice you will like her. But if you don’t, I won’t marry her. [too bad he did] But if I don’t, how am I going to take care of you? I can’t. Besides, she’s like us, she has no one. We can help each other.

They meet and Muka is all sweetness and light. I will be your SIL and also your friend, she tells Fatma. [with friends like that….] Notice they didn’t show young Fatma’s face. End flashback.

Fatmagul #23 part 6

They got married days later, Fatma says, no wedding, our parents’ death was recent. Our business was small then. She helped him in the dairy. Then Murat was born right away. He was born prematurely, that’s what she said. Fatma looks sick as soon as those words leave her mouth. Everyone realizes that Muka was probably pregnant when she got married. That’s why she married quickly.

Fatma says this is unjust. How can she hide this from her brother? I can’t carry this weight as well. [Notice Kerim’s face] The waiter comes over and asks if their food is ok, since they haven’t eaten. Kerim says it’s fine. And Meryem says they have been talking. Kerim tells Fatma to eat but it looks like none of them are really very hungry.

Mustafa pulls up to Asu’s building. He is attacked in his car by three thugs. Who do you think you are, one of them shouts. You won’t let Bilal’s girl work? Mustafa struggles. Let me go! How dare you steal Bilal’s girl! How could you take something that isn’t yours? We spent a lot of money on her. You can’t do this in this business. The punishment is big. This is just a warning, idiot! Don’t come around anymore. Next time we won’t let you go. The guy pulls out a blade and stabs Mustafa in the gut. We see Ismail watching in another car.

Erdo and Gaye leave the bar. Gaye tells him she never wants to see him again. Erdo gets a call from Ismail. It’s done. [Turkish] Those guys I found were already waiting for an opportunity. He (Mustafa) must have made them very angry. Erdo asks, they don’t know who you are, right? They don’t know, this has nothing to do with us, Ismail says, and Mustafa won’t be bothering anyone for a long time. Well done, Erdo compliments him and says he will be rewarded. Ismail answers, if I’m rewarded well, I’d even give my life.

Gaye calls Munir. I was going to call you, Munir says, how are you. Gaye tells him she is not fine at all. I don’t care what the problem is between you and Erdogan. I don’t want to be used. Munir says nothing is going on between him and Erdo. Gaye is ticked. I don’t want to be in the middle. Munir asks what happened? I don’t have to explain anything, she says, I don’t want to see either of you again. Munir pushes for an explanation. She tells him this is like a children’s game and she’s not going to play. Don’t bother me again. Hasta nunca.

Munir calls Erdo but he doesn’t take the call.

Mustafa’s car is blocking the street. Two guys drive up behind him in a truck and one gets out to tell him to move. He sees Mustafa’s been hurt. Call emergency! Is he dead? No, he’s still alive.

Back to the dinner no one enjoyed. Fatma says she won’t be able to look at her brother’s face and lie to him. Meryem says that it’s Muka that has to tell him. He can’t find out from you. Fatma says she can’t tell him, but she will talk to that woman. I want her to find out I know what she did. Meryem worries that Muka will think she told on her. [She’s worried about that?] Kerim says he heard the same thing Fatma heard.

Kerim gets a call from Rahmi, with Muka standing nearby. He’s calling because they haven’t come back yet. Kerim tells him not to worry, they had dinner and they are coming back now.

dondi356

Fatmagul #23 part 7

Rahmi tells Muka that they are on their way. She gets frisky with him. She shuts the light in the hallway and says she wishes he told them not to come so they could spend some time alone. He stops her and says she will wake Murat. She asks him to hug her a little and play with her hair. Do you know how much I love you, she asks. Yes, yes, but Murat is going to wake up and Fatmagul will come back. She hurries him off to the bedroom.

Asu calls Mustafa. A man answers the phone. Who is this, the man asks, are you his partner? Yes, Asu replies, what happened? Did he have an accident or something? The man identifies himself as an officer and says your partner was stabbed. Asu gasps. The officer says we are taking him to the hospital, he’s in bad shape.

Kerim pulls up to the house. Fatma says my blood boils to think I am going to see that woman again. Rahmi and Muka are in bed and hear the front door open. Muka puts her finger on her lips and gets out of bed to listen at her door. Fatma notices that Murat is in her bed. Rahmi and Muka must be asleep so they won’t have the chance to talk tonight. Fatma says she’s so angry she won’t be able to sleep. Meryem says you will have Murat by your side, so you can sleep peacefully.

Muka hops back into bed thinking she’s safe.

Fatma kneels beside Murat and strokes his hair and holds his hand. She remembers when he was born. She got to hold him in the hospital.

Mustafa’s parents arrive at the hospital. Asu is inside talking to the cops. They ask her about Sami. She says that Mustafa said Sami wasn’t there, and it could have been Bilal. Asu mentions that Sami has been hanging around her building lately. Halide rushes over to Asu. Where is my son? He’s in the ICU, Asu tells them, the doctor said he will be fine.

Asu introduces herself. Emin asks if she is the one who called them. Yes and she booked the plane tickets for them, too. Emin asked how it happened. The cop says he was attacked by four men. Halide cries, who would do this? Don’t worry, they will find them, Asu says. Asu goes with the cops to answer more questions and give her statement.
Halide cries, I told him. A mother knows when her son is not on the right path.

And we are out.

HALIMACANDY, thank you for the great comments and for explaining the funeral prayer. I had never thought that Esma might be in love with Azize, now that is a big one to toss in the crockpot! I have also wondered how those prayer beads don’t explode in Azize’s hand, lol. I am not sure how Harun knows about that letter Hanife found in Yaren’s room, since Esma was the one who gave it to Hazar in the first place. There is a lot going on for sure and so many questions.

Fatmagul

Dear Dondi, thank you for another excellent detailed recap , and I love your side comments . I look forward to your reactions to each episode .

Now, Fatmagul and Kerim are drawn together as they try to unravel MukS lies and deceptions. Do we know how old Fatmagul was when Muka drifted into their lives ?

So , Muk takes Rami to bed so she doesn't have to face Fatmagul, Kerim, and Meryem . She is such a weasly wheeler dealer .

Mustafa is in way over his head in the big city with his lady of the evening and her pimp.

Vural continues to be tormented and lost.

Erd is still looking for female companionship and shot down again . He struck out with Resat's mistress ,and now Gaye tells him she wants both Munir and Erd to stay away from her. Gaye is so much smarter than wishy washy Meltem.

Fatmagul

Thank you Dondi once again for filling in all the gaps and details! I love watching and I learn even more reading your recaps!

I totally didn't get that Fatma got upset about Kerim buying new clothes for his new job! As soon as I read it I realized that was it! Lol I don't know how I missed that I thought she was just annoyed in general with him 'stalking' her. I mean he means well but he is there every time she turns around!

Muka new low, wow she really picked a winner to fall in love with. It's fascinating to me that she seems to see Salih for exactly who he is in the restaurant but then she still calls him expecting him to rescue her later... this woman is seriously delusional and sad.

Yes, I totally noticed they never showed young Fatma's face, interesting choice.

It's interesting to me seeing how torn up Vural is. You always think of the criminal as being a heartless bastard yet this one is tortured by what he has done. It's too bad they prevented him from confessing that one night weeks ago...well sort of. They tried to stop him but they ended up at the police station anyway, he could have confessed and didn't.

I had to snicker at Kerim teaching Fatma how to spy on the house from the shed. I mean it was a serious problem and I am sure she was too distracted to think anything of it but he is clearly practiced in window watching! Maybe she will wonder later.. lol

This whole story is going to be so heartbreaking for Rhami and Murat makes me hate Muka even more!!

Fatmagul

Susanlynn, IIRC Fatma told Kerim she was 12 when her parents died.

Hercai2: #14 - p 1 of 3
The episode opens in the cemetary, at Dilsah's grave. Miran tells Sukran, "Hazar Sadoglu is the person who killed my mother and father!" Hazar responds, "I am NOT an assassin!" and he slaps Miran. Miran pulls out his pistol and points it at Hazar. Hazar, in turn, pulls out Dilsah's letter and points it at Miran. "Here's the letter I almost lost my life over. Your mother wrote in her own hand. Read it, if you have the guts." Miran takes the letter and compares the handwriting with that on the back of Dilsah's photo. It's the same. He then reads the letter: "Hazar, I received the letter you wrote, and I read it a thousand times. God bless you." She thanks him for rescuing her and enabling her to begin a new life with her child. She says she doesn't know how to repay him, and she tells him to wait for her this Friday, after dawn.
Miran is shaking as he reads it.

Hazar leaves the cemetary and returns to the Sadoglu konak. A nervous Nasuh sees Hazar enter the compound and asks him whether he's OK. Hazar replies, "It's over, Papa. Azize Aslanbey's venganza is no longer. I gave Miran the letter I almost died for. Thanks to the letter, the venganza is over. Miran read the letter his mother wrote to me and compared the handwriting." Nasuh does not believe Azize will stop her venganza. Hazar insists it will stop because Miran is no longer on her side.

Sukran may have a different problem on her mind. When she returns from the cemetary and sees Reyyan, she asks Reyyan, "Are you Hazar Sadoglu's daughter?" Sukran looks troubled as she asks this question. Though this wasn't the letter that revealed that Hazar is Miran's father, I couldn't help but think that perhaps Sukran had a feeling that he was. And since Sukran doesn't know that Hazar is not Reyyan's biological father (indeed, Reyyan doesn't know that, either!), Sukran may fear that Reyyan and Miran may be siblings. Even if I'm wrong about what Sukran is thinking, I think it's highly likely that it will become an issue at some point.

Anyway, Hazar comes to see Yaren. He's furious with her. "Why are you treating your family as if we're the enemy?" he asks. He continues, "I almost lost my life over this letter. What were you plannng to do with it if Hanife hadn't found it?" Yaren tries to deny everything. She summons up her fake tears and asks, "Who will you believe, your niece or a mere servant? I swear I had nothing to do with that letter." Hazar doesn't believe her. He says, "If you interfere with anyone in this family, I will reveal what I know about what you did. I'll say nothing for now out of concern for your parents." He leaves, and Yaren really does cry (and Viewerville cheers).

The scene shifts to the place where Esma met Hazar and where she's now meeting Firat. Firat demands to know, "Is what Hazar Sadoglu said true? Answer me!" Esma reluctantly admits that yes, what he said was true. He and Dilsah were in love. "The proof of this is in the letters carved in the wall behind you." We see again the letters D and H. Esma continues, "Dilsah and Hazar were to be married when he returned from his army service, but the Aslanbey forced her to marry one of their sons. Mehmet would torture her because of her feelings for Hazar." Firat is stunned. "So it was he who killed Aunt Dilsah!" Esma says she doesn't know what happened that night. However, she is sure that Hazar would never have hurt Dilsah. Firat angrily asks, "How could you keep the truth from Miran? You say that he is like a son to you. How could you treat a son like that? And how could Azize do this to Miran? Why didn't you oppose her actions?"

herc
Hercai2: #14 - p 2 of 3
Firat is determined to let Miran know what he has just learned from Esma. Esma pleads with him not to do so. She explains, "I don't want Miran to think that Dilsah wasn't chaste before she married. After Dilsah married Mehmet, she never saw Hazar again. Not until she asked him for help to escape the torture Mehmet subjected her to. Miran couldn't bear this. Please don't tell him."

Reyyan has been at the cabin. It's possible she went there looking for Miran. We hear her thinking about what Sukran told her about what happened at the cemetary. Sukran also said, "The letter could change everything. Perhaps you'll finally be able to smile." Reyyan leaves the cabin, wondering "Miran, where are you?"

We see that Miran has gone to the swing. He's very upset. "Have I been living a lie? Why, grandma? Was it all a lie? Does this mean that my whole life has been one huge lie?" He gets on the swing and pumps higher and higher. As he pumps, he recalls being on a swing as a very young boy, perhaps four years old. Azize is with him. She wants to take him to the cemetary to visit the graves of his parents. "That way, you'll never forget, and you'll get revenge on the Sadoglu, who killed them. Your parents' souls will say, 'Our son will get revenge for us.'" Back in the present, he continues to pump, and then he looks down. For a while, I feared he might jump off and fall into the valley below. Instead, he gets off the swing and walks to the edge of the cliff. He again looks down. He closes his eyes. Suddenly, another hand has clasped his. Reyyan has found him.

Reyyan sees that he's troubled and suggests that they both sit down. She asks what happened. He takes out Dilsah's letter and hands it to Reyyan. She reads it and gives it back to him. "You're not going to say anything?" he asks. "What can I say?" responds Reyyan. "You have to decide what to do with the letter. But don't ignore it. You've lived your whole life believing a lie. The question is what you'll do from now on."

Hanife calls Harun and tells him that Hazar arrived home and said that the venganza was over. Harun laughs. [That's not the response I was hoping for.] In a cheery voice, Harun says, "Very good, Hazar, now it's your turn. Can you score a goal against Azize? Or will you be offsides?" It seems as if it's all a game to Harun, and he's calling the shots.

Azize lauds it over Sukran for failing to convince Miran at the cemetary. Sukran isn't intimidated. She asks Azize to sit down while they talk things over. She tells Azize, "You'll soon lose Miran." Sultana joins them, and Esma is also present. I'm not really sure what the point of this scene is. Sultana seems in manic mode, laughing at everyting. If there's a point to all this, I've missed it.

Reyyan and Miran are in the car. Miran is driving, but his mind seems elsewhere. Reyyan finally gets him to stop the car. He seems surprised, and asks whether she's OK. "No, I'm not OK," she replies, "and neither are you. You shouldn't be driving in your state of mind." She expresses sympathy for what he's going through, and she tells him that the pain he feels is her pain, too. She takes his hand. She tells him, "Don't try to reaffirm your past."

A very agitated Azize returns to her room. "This is a mutiny!" she declares. "It's time for some heads to roll! Sultana's, and Sukran's, too." Her thoughts are interrupted by a knock on the door. It's Mahmoud, coming to report. He and his men went to the hospital (where Sultana was taken and released). The security camera footage had been erased. A system failure, they said.

Mahmoud also reported that they roughed up the doctor to try to get information, but he maintained that he didn't know who got Sultana out. Also, someone cleared the place up so it looked as if nothing had happened. Azize is not pleased. She is sure that the same person got Hanife arrested and released and got Sultana out of the hospital. She tells Mahmoud that he has to find the person behind all this and bring that person to her. Mahmoud murmurs "As you wish, Señora," and leaves.

The scene shifts to Yaren's room. Yaren is pacing back and forth. "Think, Yaren!" she tells herself. Before she can come up with a strategy for dealing with her multiple problems, Handan comes in. Yaren apparently left her phone and thus has missed multiple calls from Harun. The phone rings again. "Your fiancé is calling again," Handan reports. "Answer the phone!" Yaren replies, "I hate him! He's a psychopath." Handan insists, and Yaren angrily picks up the phone and growls, "What do you want?" We then hear, "OK, fine, I'll go to the door. But probably I'll toss it in the trash." She goes to the entrance door, and there's Harun, grinning, with a large bouquet of roses. Yaren is not impressed. But there's more. He goes to the car and brings out a large box. In it is a wedding dress. Yaren's response, "Why buy a wedding dress for someone who doesn't even like you? I'd rather die than wear this dress."

Harun shifts gears. No more Mr. Nice Guy. "You don't get it," he tells her. If you refuse to play the game, it will be worse. Obey me, and everything will be fine. If not, you won't like what comes next." He gets into the car and drives off. She throws the bouquet of roses into the street. She pushes the box with the wedding gown part-way into the entrance and then calls out, "Melike, throw that box in the trash!" She then goes to see her parents and again pleads with them not to insist that she marry him. She claims again that he's a psychopath, and that he's merely putting on an act to impress them. She asks them whether they believe a total stranger rather than their daughter. Handan maintains that they haven't seen him act crazy--the only crazy person is Yaren. "You want proof?" asks Yaren. "Can I call off the wedding if I can prove it?" Cihan says, "If this guy is threatening you as you say, I'll make sure he regrets he was ever born." "OK, I'll prove it," declares Yaren. She calls Harun and says she wants to speak with him that evening. He agrees.

The Aslanbey clan are having dinner. Firat comes in looking very serious. Azize asks whether he's going to join them at the table. "No," he says, and continues, "Señora, I have something important to discuss with you immediately." And with that, the episode ends.

Thank you Juanita for your intriguing recap. I say this because it FINALLY seems like we’re getting to the meat and potatoes of Azize’s lie, even though I’m sure she’s probably got a few more tricks up her sleeve. I’m so curious as to who’s standing behind Harun, and Azize’s ultimate “takedown.” Seems the only one who will be standing with Azize when all is said and done is Mahmoud——if someone doesn’t kill him too for all his misdeeds. Simply following orders is simply not an excuse——-sorry Mahmoud.

I’m also glad that Miran FINALLY has the letter. If he somehow reverts back to Azize’s pawn, I’m done with him. What’s so bogus to me is that he seems to be unable to handle the truth——was he really contemplating suicide over this at the swing? He’s strong and hellbent arrogant about EVERYTHING else, why not this? He had to know that just maybe Azize could’ve been wrong about the facts somewhere along the line. Was he so willing to give up his eternal, we can make it through anything, love for Reyyan? His character just doesn’t add up to me sometimes. Wonder if they’ll make us wait for Reymir to actually consummate their real marriage only when the truth comes out about both of their true parentages. That way there will be no question of incest for all involved. Guess we have to wait and see.

I love it when Hazar releases the power of his manhood, lol. I can’t stand the wimpy Hazar, and right about now he seems sick and tired of everything and everybody. Loved him smacking Miran, and shutting Yaren, the bad seed, down! Got her scrambling to find another way to make her lies believable. Ironic that both her and Azize are being shown for what they really are at the same time, haha. Still, I think that somehow, Azize will be redeemed, but Yaren will continue to combust. Azize doesn’t know what truly happened with Nasuh, while Yaren lives solely for the purpose of making other’s lives miserable. I think that’s why they’ve given Handan another child because Yaren is a lost cause.

Thanks again Juanita! My curiosity grows!!

Excellent recap, as usual, Juanita! Thank you! There was a lot to digest in this episode and you covered everything.

I was struck most by the continued superb cinematography used to show the contrast in emotions, especially at the cemetery. Hazar and Miran staring at each other after Miran read the letter and then the shot with a distraught Miran and Dilsah’s name on her tomb completing that father/mother/son triangle. I also really like that the writers continue to circle back to use places as references: the swing in the sky, the cabin. Now I would like to see more horseback riding.

I appreciate you shedding some light on why Grannie Sukran was so reserved with Reyyan when she found out who Hazar was. It did not occur to me that she is now worried Reyyan and Miran are siblings.

“I'll say nothing for now out of concern for your parents." He leaves, and Yaren really does cry (and Viewerville cheers).” Yes! The yellow centipede got her arrogant self knocked in place, not by a slap, but by the words of her uncle. It also appears that she has met her match with Harun. He is as devious as she is.

What the heck is Esma thinking? Firat needs to tell Miran the truth and soon. Other that threatening Esma with killing Firat, there has to be more to what Esma is hiding for Azize. Speaking of Azize, that scene on the swing when Miran was a youngster was chilling. The indoctrination process has been a long intense one and it is going to take something more than that letter to prove to Miran that his whole life is a lie. Thank goodness Reyyan is a bright light for him.

This is getting very interesting. Thanks again Juanita!

An exciting episode and a great, insightful recap, Juanita. Thank you!

So the pen proves mightier than the sword (or the gun). Add a smack for good measure. Thanks, Hazar, Miran needed that! I agree, VVS, the DP did a great job with that scene.

Juanita, I think you are right that ReyMir as siblings will become an issue at some point.
Miran contemplating suicide, really? I’ll go with Carmella on this one, including: “Was he so willing to give up his eternal, we can make it through anything, love for Reyyan?”

Hazar lets Yaren have it and is not taken in by her false tears (yay!) but in the next breath, the idiot lets her off the hook by keeping quiet (boo!). I think Hazar is wrong here. This shouldn’t be about sparing Cihan and Handan. They don’t deserve to be spared. They contributed to the creation of this monster. Deal with it, people! I hope Harun can tame that beast, but I can see her trying to slip some poison into his tea.

Really enjoyed Esma telling Firat the truth about Dilsah and Hazar. Another great scene. Now if she would only tell him the rest of it. I hope Firat does not alert Azize in any way and give her a chance to weasel out somehow. Esma and Azize must have some deep, dark secret they share, maybe other than Firat.

dondi356

Herc

Great point dondi356! Cihan nor Handan should be spared anything. They created the yellow centipede and should be the ones to cut off her legs——-didn’t consider that POV…..

btw!…….Sultana’s laugh——Eerily diabolical imo!

herc

dondi356, I also agree that Hazar let Yaren off too easy. That girl is not going to stop and will probably get even more vindictive.

carmella, I think it is interesting that you consider Azize redeemable and Yaren not. I am very curious to see this all play out. BTW, I just noticed that one of your great comments is highlighted on the main Caray page:

“And Yaren, with her pseudo-quasi mini upright not fainting moment! If she weren’t so fake she’d be an all out boob job, butt injected, plastic surgery experiment!" -- Carmella (Hercai) Yay! That is totally awesome and so true!

Herc

Wow! So cool! Thanks for the heads up VVS! 😊

herc

MANY thanks, carmella, VVS, and dondi356, for your terrific comments!

Carmella, first of all, congrats on having a comment on the main Caray board! I love so many of your comments, I'm delighted that one of them has gotten more widespread recognition. As for what you've said today, I too am very eager to see who is behind Harun. Is it someone we've already seen? As for Miran's difficulty in accepting the truth even when it's spelled out for him (pun sort of intended), I can believe that someone who has been raised almost from birth to believe in something may find it extremely difficult to see it all as a lie. So I find Miran's vacillating responses frustrating, even infuriating, but not unbelievable. As for consummating the marriage, my guess is that Reyyan may be in the dark about her parentage for a ridiculously long time (indeed, it's already a ridiculously long time), and so learning that Miran is Hazar's son may provide an excuse for several episodes of angst over what will appear to her as incest. Sigh.

VVS, thanks very much for calling attention to the terrific cinematography. You've helped me to be aware and appreciate it even more. As for Sukran's concern re incest, I tried to indicate that that was just a feeling I had, based on the troubled look on Sukran's face when she asked Reyyan if she was Hazar's daughter. The feeling I had was strong enough that I mentioned it, but I'm far from sure that I'm right. I can't imagine how Sukran would know that Hazar is Miran's father, unless Dilsah somehow let her know this. That seems unlikely but perhaps not impossible. More possible might be telenovela intuition. :-) And yes, it does seem that Yaren has met her match in Harun. (Just imagine what kind of monsters the two of them could produce together!)

dondi356, I LOVED your describing the confrontation at the cemetary as "So the pen proves mightier than the sword (or the gun)"! Oh, how I wish I'd thought of that in the recap! And no, I didn't really expect Miran to commit suicide, but I think the writers did want to suggest that possibility, especially when they have him walk to the very edge of the cliff, look down again, then close his eyes, as if he's contemplating a jump. But then very quickly Reyyan's hand clasps his, and the momentum changes. And yes, I too hope Firat doesn't alert Azize. He's usually very cautious, but Esma's revelations have had an enormous impact on him. I guess we'll see tonight how he handles things.

Again, MANY thanks to the three of you for your stimulating and insightful observations!

Herc

To your point Juanita regarding Miran’s reasons for being unable to accept the truth——- I suspect that Reyyan will have a just as hard, or an even more difficult time when she learns the truth about Hazar……..Oh, the tangled webs we weave!

Thanks again!

Though I'm embarrassed to admit this, I just looked again at the opening scene of last night's episode, and I realize that I translated incorrectly part of what Dilsah said in her note. It doesn't really matter, but for the record, she ended her note by saying that she will wait for him on Friday before dawn.

VVS Thank you for another excellent , detailed account as our story of love and revenge creeps slowly forward .

If you like Phil , you should check out "Kara Para Ask" on Netflix. He plays a very different part in that excellent show. I

It seems that both villains Azz and Nasuh hated poor , innocent Dilsah . Miran is going to go berserk when he finally learns the truth.

Oh my goodness Juanita! Don't apologize or be embarrassed. We have all heard that note read so many times now, I just tune it out! I didn't even notice you might have changed it up a bit! We are all just grateful for the wonderful recap!

I've been MIA for two days, both of them spent physically in the office and not reading the blog in the evening. I am current in viewing, though.

I'm going to work my way through the recaps that are now up one by one. So this one is about VVS's fine recap of Monday's episode. Just stellar, VVS! I loved all your asides and agreed with them all. I like the "shut your pie hole" remark. That's always been one of my favorites.

I don't know if anyone else mentioned this, but Miran was furious, but without any dialog, when he found out Azize had refused to let Sukran know where her daughter was buried. Ye Gods, is there no end to the spite of this woman?

Not sure what's going to happen with Nasuh, but I'd put my money on Hazar's never forgiving him the rejection of Dilsuh. Somehow I don't think he knew she was pregnant. Actually, was she? I suppose she must have been if Hazar was away in the military and couldn't have impregnated her then. It just boggles my mind that it was possible, say, 35 years ago, for a wealthy family to abduct a young woman and force her into marriage. And I still don't understand why they'd even want her. Aren't the Aslanbey at least as snobby as the Sadoglu?

They tried to fool us with the boots outside the door. As if. I doubt anyone watching this dizi believed for one second that we'd gotten a "Ding, dong...the witch is dead!".

I am actually liking Hanife in her standoff with Yaren. Of course it was quite a rapid personality change, but Azize leaving her in the slammer after all the loyal years of spying on the Sadoglu caused something to snap in her. And, just like Viewerville, she knew Yaren wouldn't have the guts to cut her throat in the kitchen.

ITA, dondi, about some of ReyMir's scenes of affection being "sappy", the perfect word. As a veteran watcher of TN's, I believe that the Turks exceed the Mexicans in scenes of over-the-top adoration. Although maybe they have to since hot passion in the bedroom seems to be verboten.

OT

Susanlynn, thank you for the recommendation. I have it on my list as something to watch one day, when I have some time. :)

Great to have you and those astute comments back novelera! It is hard to have to be back in an office, I totally get it. Thank you for mentioning that HAG never told Good Granny where Dilsah was buried. Miran was going to confront HAG but Reyyan stopped him. Azize is just awful. There are a lot of reveals that are going to cause a lot of heart ache. I wonder if Hazar will be able to even look at GT again. Reyyan is definitely going to be very put out when she finds out her life is a lie as well!

herc

Terrific recap, Juanita! Your descriptions were SO good. I was sort of scratching my head in this one. Lots of reveals at speed, but I was wondering if the snippers at Telemundo had removed some things. How did Harun get that letter to Hazar? So far as we know, they don't know each other. And how did Firat find out so much to confront his mother with? As far as my memory works, the only ones who know all about the letter are Hazar, Reyyan, Miran, and Sukran.

I suppose they're going with Reyyan not knowing how to drive. She tells Miran that he shouldn't be driving "in that state", but all they do is get out and talk rather than her doing the driving.

It's pretty ridiculous that they keep showing Mahmoud being willing to do awful things for the HAG. I am presuming that the "doctor" who got Sultana out of there was not on staff at the nuthouse. So the poor doctor Mahmoud beat up was completely baffled. I guess the only point is that there is no limit to what he'll do in gratitude for her having taken him in as an orphaned child.

I'm still confused about what's going on with the Sadoglu and Aslanbey properties. Back when they were showing Miran IIRC gloating about how they'd taken Nasuh's konak and pretty much everything else, I thought that made sense. Miran had been steadily getting Nasuh and his sons deeper and deeper into problems during the courtship. Then somehow Nasuh has that mysterious meeting with some men in a conference room, and the konak is back in his hands. Lastly Cihan, Harun and Azat show up claiming they've gotten properties back. I was unclear if it was only one hotel, or all the businesses that Miran had appropriated. And somehow all this was HAG's fault, per Miran.

I agree that Sukran's facial expression could mean that she wonders about incest. That's the only thing that makes sense because she's completely supportive of Reyyan as a life partner for her grandson.

herc

Thanks very much, novelera, for your incisive and supportive comments. The business dealings of the Sadoglu and Aslanbey clans are a mystery to me as well. I've never really understood why the Sadoglu lost their properties to the Aslanbey, nor how, exactly, they managed to get them back. I decided long ago to put the business dealings on a list of Things I Won't Worry About. It's a distressingly short list. Most things wind up instead on my Things to Worry About or Things to Obsess About lists.

I'm not sure I understand your question about how Harun got the letter to Hazar. If you mean how he got hold of it, we saw in a recent episode that he ordered Hanife to find it, and he said that it was somewhere in the Sadoglu konak. Whether by luck or cleverness, Hanife seems to have started her search in Yaren's room, and Bingo! There it was, hidden behind the picture on the wall. Somehow, I think you may have meant to write "how did Harun know about the letter to Hazar?" I think we're all eager to know the answer to that! He seems to be working with someone else who is pretty knowledgeable about matters past and present concerning the two familiies, But so far, we don't know who that person is. Nor do we know for sure what Harun's connection is, though one thing he said recently seemed to suggest that he may be an Aslanbey. That made me guess that perhaps he is Gonul's brother, but there's been no further information about that.

By the way, add Esma to the list of people who know all about the letter. She, after all, is the one who has tried to pass the letters on to Hazar.

I'm really enjoying the fact that we're finally getting more information/explanation, as are Miran and Reyyan. But I think we're probably still a long way from any real resolution. I'm eager to see what happens tonight.

herc

What I mean to say about "the letter" was how it got from Harun to Hazar. We saw Hanife pass it to Harun, sitting with his car idling in the street. The next thing we saw was Hazar producing it at Dilsuh's grave, at least that's all I saw. I was wondering if a scene had been cut where an intermediary somehow had it delivered to Hazar.

S2-Epi 15
Part 1

The Aslanbeys dine but Firat is not in the mood for family dinner. He declines Azize’s invite to sit but reminds her of the upcoming board meeting that will elect a new president. She dismisses his reminder so he thinks she’s underestimating their situation. He thinks their position is at risk but Azize assures him she has everything under control. He reminds her of one other vacant board seat to plan for to improve their support and takes his leave.

ReyMir return and take note of Firat’s hasty departure but say nothing. In their room Miran decides that ReyMir need to speak with Azize together but Reyan declines. He wants her there because the discussion involves them both but she tells him he knows the truth and can handle the conversation himself, and points out Azize is not comfortable with her presence. He goes solo to confront Azize. He enters the family dining room and is greeted by Gonul. He doesn’t respond but instead hands his mother’s letter over to Azize. He tries to remain stern and strong as he explains to her without making eye contact the significance of the letter. Esma watches nervously. Azize tries to deny the letter so he insists that she reads it asking if she so certain about all the things she’s fed him over the years. She refuses to touch letter…saying it’s a lie that Dislah wrote it so he pulls out the picture with his mother’s handwriting for her to compare. No more lies he tells her. He wants the truth. She finally stands and reads the letter and looks as if she’s going to have a heart attack. It’s a lie they cooked up she says. The letter is impossible. Her DIL would never write such a letter and would have come to her if she needed help. He steps to her asking for an explanation so Azize continues her fine acting of denial, asking if Miran has lost faith in her after all these years. He has a slight glint in his eye…is he finally seeing Azize for what she is?

Meanwhile, Reyan is on the phone with Hazar. They are both happy about the letter and assume it means the end of the venganza (but viewerville is not o sure). Hazar doesn’t reveal how he came about the letter but they agree to continue the conversation the following day.

Azize continues her fake tears and babble of disbelief regarding the letter as the family watches. Why would Dislah want to leave Mehmet, she loved him. (perhaps it was all the beatings Miran just learned about). Esma and Sultana give each other a knowing look as Azize continues her crying lies…blaming the Sadoglus for another farce. Miran snatches the letter from her and tells her he believes it. When she learns Hazar gave Miran the letter, she claims its further proof of his intent to cause a riff between them to save himself. She then claims maybe it is possible that Dislah asked Hazar for help but he only used it as an opportunity to take advantage for a vulnerable woman. Miran has heard enough and tells her to shut up. When he turns to leave, to Azize’s surprise, Sultana informs Miran that the letter is real because she was at her side when she wrote it. Sultana defiantly stares down Azize.

As Reyan is leaving the room, she overhears the family arguing about the validity of the letter. She tells herself that Azize will no longer be able to lie to Miran. He is seeing the truth. She goes on about her way.

Inside Sultana continues to defy Azize who’s shooting her with dagger eyes full of hate. She assures Miran the letter is real and reminds him that Sulkran told him his mother was miserable in that house. She goes on to say Mehmet was not a kind or nice man to his wife. He beat her often. Dislah finally asked Sultana for help to escape.

Part 2

She intended to stop her but Dislah feared for her life. She also knew that Dislah trusted Hazar and couldn’t trust anyone inside the Aslanbey mansion. Hazar came to help but he was not allowed inside. Mehmet was violent and jealous like all the Aslanbey men. Sultana also confirms that there is no way that Azize didn’t know about the abuse. Sultana challenges Azize to deny it. Dislah carried her suffering.

As Sultana continues her truth, Azize tries to look innocent for Miran who is taking it all in. Azize tries to pretend she thought it was normal for couples to fight but Sultana won’t let her get away with it. She corrects Azize that what Dislah went thru in that house was torture…so of course she’d want to escape.

Miran is hurt that no one ever told him any of this. Azize made him think that his father was good to his mother. Another lie says Sultana. Mehmet loved Dislah one day and treated her like a queen and the next day she’d suffer like nobody could. Azize knew all this but purposely painted a false picture of a loving father…perhaps it’s hard to overlook the faults of a child Sultana ponders …adding that perhaps Azize didn’t reveal the abuse to spare Miran’s image of his father. Miran looks at the letter and the women and storms out saying he’s going crazy. Azize calls after him but he tells her to leave him alone. He marches down the stairs and Reyan stops him. He wants to go talk to her dad alone but she won’t let him…she goes with him.

Azize goes to her room apparently to plot her next move but an embolden Sultana follows her. She taunts her that the day has finally come ..the truth is out. Azize grabs her by the arm to toss he rout of her room. Alone, Azize is beside herself with what just happened wondering how that letter came to light. She flashes back to a conversation with Hanife about having lost her youth doing Azize’s bidding, spying on the Sadoglus. She calls her Hanife and lays it on thick.

Outside, Sultana stands pleased with herself. Gonul confront her trying to understand why she threw Azize a lifeline knowing how she truly feels about her. Sultana spells it out for her…If the venganza ends, so does their life in that mansion. Azize will fall soon but yet she says…it will be on their terms.

Driving, Miran updates Reyan. Sultana confirmed the letter is real and Dislah asked Hazar for help….but but perhaps Hazar had something else on his mind. Reyan is fed. He went looking for the truth and has found concrete evidence…how could he still believe anything Azize says. She begs him not to take his anger out on her dad. She wants him to calm down before he confronts her dad…she doesn’t want it to end in another shouting match.

Before they get out the car, they spot Hanife leaving the house. Reyan doesn’t think much of it but Miran tells her there are things she doesn’t know and they should follow her. She has gone to meet up with Azize at the abandoned house. When she enters, Azize grabs her by the throat accuses her of betrayal. Hanife pleads her innocence but Azize doesn’t believe her since she is the only one who knows everything. She wants to know who made her betray her. …assuming it’s a Sadoglu. Hanife has had enough…she pushes her off her. She’s sacrificed her life for her, being a servant for an enemy that is not even her own. Why. Why…for our revenge? She pushes Azize to a mirror and tells her to take a good look. What happened to you? How could you lose faith in her after all she’s sacrificed. Azize looks convinced so she tells Azize it’s over and not to ever call her again. As she turns to leave, Hanife gets a text that ReyMir are outside listening so she needs to implicate Azize in the fire. Hanife confesses that she ordered the fire at Azize’s bequest but at the same time, she gives Azize the look that someone is outside.

Part 3

Azize catches on and cops to the fire but cries she would never have done so if she knew her grandkids were inside. Reyan has to stop Miran from rushing in at this confession. The sisters continue their fine acting job for the benefit of ReyMir. Hanife pretends her spying was because Azize was threatening her but she’s no longer afraid of Azize goes to Nasuf. Azize cries she’s not capable of killing anyone and only wanted to stop the wedding.

Hanife leaves and runs into ReyMir who ran around the corner to wait for her. She feigns ignorance when the confront her and force in the car. Elsewhere Reyan lights into her about her betrayal and selling out the family. Hanife swears she hasn’t given any info about the family and only carried out that one deed for money. ReyMir drill Hanife but she sticks to her story so Reyan tells her she needs to quit her job at the Sadoglus. She tries to beg Reyan for her job but Reyan pushers her of and they leave her to walk. She calls Azize to update her but assume ReyMir didn’t hear that are sisters and she was told to quit her job. Azize tells her she will come up with something to save the situation. When they hang up, we see that Huran has been with Hanife during the whole convo with Azize. She’s at wits end on what to do about leaving the Sadoglus. Huran tells her to calm down and not to panic and he gives her more instructions.

Meanwhile, Hazar confronts Nasuh about his conversation with Felipe. Nasuf looks uncomfortable but spins his story. Felipe came to him regarding the ring and his concern for ReyMir. Hazar doesn’t believe the convo was that simple but Nasuf insists that it was. Hazar is certain that he’s always been hiding something regarding the Aslanbeys and wants him to fess up. Nasuf maintains his innocence but Hazar has had enough. He walks away.

Yaren paces the salon while she and her parents away Harun’s visit. He calls to announce his arrival so Yaren instructs her parents to listen to observe them from the patio. Cihan will support his daughter if she is right about Harun but Handan is not convinced. He greets her with his usual charming self but she dives right in trying to get him to admit that he handled her roughly and her parents are ready to end the engagement. He turns the tables on her and plays nice. He admits that they haven’t gotten a chance to know each other but he’s ready to make her happy for the rest of her life. She’s surprised and tries another tactic. She tries to get him to come inside but he pretends to be a gentleman and declines the offer…it wouldn’t be appropriate. He’ll call for her tomorrow. Before leaving …he throws her under the bus by admitting that she came to see him at the hotel and he apologizes if she mistook why he took her arm. He walks off pleased with himself. When she goes back inside Handan thumps her in the head for having left the house without permission. She is left tears.

The following morning, Melike burst in Azat’s room and finds him sleeping on the couch. She apologizes…she was only bring the things Elif asked for. The couple sit and contemplate their situation. They discuss what happens when the letter ends the vendetta. They hadn’t factored that into the equation. Azat questions whether or not she really wants to return to Azize’s control…saying they are friends and she can stay with the Sadoglus. They are friends and she doesn’t have to leave.

Yaren is still sleeping when a shadowy figure hovers over her. It’s Huran…who covers her mouth so she can’t scream.

The end.

Novelera, when Hanife tried to give the letter to Harun, he didn't take it. Instead, he told her to give it to a different person. At the time, it wasn't clear who he had in mind, but once I found that Harun was interested in bringing down Azize, I felt it was likely that the person Harun told her to give it to was Hazar.

What's somewhat confusing/disconcerting is that it's not clear whether Harun wants simply to bring down Azize or whether he's having fun creating havoc in both camps, the Sadoglu as well as the Aslanbey.

Thanks very much, Nett, for this terrific recap.

I confess that Miran was driving me nuts through much of the episode. He has been given lots of evidence that Hazar has been telling him the truth and Azize has been consistently lying. But somehow, when Miran drives to see Hazar, he seems all worked up and ready to explode. Fortunately, Reyyan sees this and prevents him from going to see Hazar in his present state. But why is Miran still so angry at Hazar?

Hmmm...so apparently Sultana doesn't want to see the venganza end. She tells Gonul that if the venganza ends, so too does their privileged life in the mansion. All along, Sultana has been seeing herself as the lady of the mansion once Azize is dead or disappears, and I guess she's trying to bring Azize down (hence her corroborating Dilsah's letter) but on her (Sultana's) terms. Whether she'll succeed isn't at all clear.

One thing that puzzles me is Azize's saying that she set the country house fire. I thought that Harun's text warning was only for Hanife. I assumed that Azize
didn't know that ReyMir were outside listening, and she admitted being responsible for the fire because Hanife said so, and Azize saw no reason to deny it if no one was there to overhear her. What does Azize gain by admitting that she was responsible for the fire? Why would she want ReyMir to hear her say that?

The scene between Yaren and Harun turned out just as I thought it would. He outsmarted her. But he is a scary and probably dangerous guy.

Excellent recap Nett! Thank you! There were a few things that I really didn’t get or understand this episode. Sometimes I think that I don’t understand why Azize continues to lie, especially when confronted with “truths,” but ultimately the “lie” is all she has. Instead of just confronting Nasuh from the get go, she’s created this world and story that doesn't exist in reality——-and in my book that makes her cray-cray—— and those of that ilk won’t see the truth until it slices their throat. So like you Nett, I think we’re still in for a ways -to-go to the truth.

I also didn't get much of the conversation between Azize and Hanife, not in retrospect anyway. Azize goes on and on about Hanife’s betrayal and “their” revenge, and Hanife even co-signs that she’ll get her own revenge in her way. Like WTH Hanife! You’ve lived with the Sadoglu’s for 27 yrs, and have seen first hand what they are capable of! They’ve treated you well over the years, and were right there when you got arrested, so I don’t get where “your” need for revenge comes from???? That’s why Reyyan was so upset! Hell, they treated her worse than you!!! Azize, otoh, has used you and treated you more like a step-sister than a blood one! Unfortunately, I think Hanife’s days are numbered. Harun will have no use for her soon and Azize won’t have any use for her at all since she has to leave the Sadoglu camp. Whatever happened to Hanife wanting to become Nasuh’s wife? Where’d that plan go????

I don’t get Sultana either, is is definitely emboldened. Methinks that she has inside info, as in Harun, and is waiting for the mysterious person behind this to complete her timely revenge. I think Sultana knows who it is, or at least has some idea.

Miran is driving me nuts, too, Juanita. Reyyan is definitely the more sensible of the two of them, and I don’t know where she gets the patience from! Miran doesn’t think——just reacts, and it’s soooooo tiresome! It always ends up with an argument, physical and verbal abuse and a gun, ughhhh! How’s that been working for you Miran?????

Yaren has definitely met her match in Harun, but I honestly think she is crazier than him. Not stronger physically, but mentally she will win. Like I said sometime a while back, I think she’s either going to kill him herself, or get someone to do it through one of her staged performances. It’s psychological warfare between these two, and I’m gonna enjoy every moment of it cause I can’t stand either one of them! Hurt each other all you want! Lol…..

Last there’s Nasuh. He should tell the truth, but I get why he doesn’t. He was dead wrong, but he thought he was doing what was right for his son back then. Mistakes can be forgiven if they come from a sincere place. Being an asshole doesn’t start when you turn 60….it started long before that and Nasuh has proven that fact over and over again. Hazar will forgive you. Just tell the truth Nasuh……..

Thanks again Nett! Much appreciated!

Btw….did the network announce that Hercai was going to start coming on at 8 pm? Not sure if that’s what I saw cause I only caught the tail end of the announcement………..

Great recap, Nett! Thanks so much!

I wonder who that vacant board seat will go to? Glad that Firat didn't tip off Azize.

In the Turkish, Sultana said that Dilsah wrote that letter but when she saw Hazar’s intentions were different, she changed her mind (about escaping with him). But then Hazar wouldn’t leave her alone. (But she didn't mention Hazar wasn't allowed in the mansion.) And your father was hot-tempered, very jealous, like all Aslanbey men, Sultana said, looking at Miran. Yeah, look who raised them… lol

I laughed at snarky Sultana telling Azize she didn’t think the day would come when she would help clean up her mess, and then she was promptly hustled out of the room by HAG.
Sultana’s been hinting for a while now that Azize will soon be brought down.

In the Turkish Hanife also said to Azize, I wish I burned there along “with my siblings” (kardeşlerimle). Could mean brothers and sisters, it wasn’t gender specific. I take that to mean the rest of Azize and Hanife’s family was wiped out in that fire. They were the only ones who were spared/survived.

IMHO, this venganza has little to do with Hazar & Dilsah it’s all about that fire that happened years ago and somehow Azize blames Nasuh. IIRC, Azize has said she wanted to destroy Nasuh’s entire family. She wants an eye for an eye.

Juanita, Hanife motioned there was someone outside. Her admission included she didn’t know anyone was in the building when the fire was set. Afterward, she wasn’t pleased that Hanife mentioned the fire.

carmella, you made me lol with your comments. I’m going to enjoy the “psychological warfare” between Yaren and Harun as well. But for now, I’m on Harun’s side. I’m preferring his brand of bad cause he’s also out to get Azize. I could so see Yaren trying to kill him.

Checked zap2it and they have Hercai for two hours, 8=10p, starting Dec 13 through Dec 21. Don't know beyond that.

Yes, dondi356, I was about to post the same announcement. They made a brief mention of it during a commercial break last night. I'm surprised they didn't make a more prominent announcement at the end of the show.

I am VERY disappointed that they're doing this, both because it may suggest that they're unhappy with the audience and because it will definitely affect my recaps. There is no way I can do a real recap of a two-hour segment that ends at 10 pm. Frankly, even the recap of the 1-hour show has me up much later than I want. The 2-hour program will result in my offering little more than bullet points. I think that's better than nothing, and with any luck they may elicit useful comments.

dondi356, thanks for the Turkish additions. Actually, the Spanish also included Sultana's comment about the hot-tempered Aslanbey men, as well as Hanife talking about being burned "along with my siblings" or something to that effect. That certainly made me wonder as well. And I think you're right, Azize's thirst for venganza has much less to do with Mehmet and Dilsah than with what Nasuh did, something we don't yet know in detail. And so all the joy experienced by Reyyan and Hazar in thinking the venganza is over will prove to be unwarranted. As we probably all knew already, even without knowing the details.

And yes, at the moment I too am rooting for Harun, for the same reason you've expressed. I'm very curious to know who he's working with, and just who he is. I'm still thinking he may be the baby Sultana was told was dead, and hence Gonul's brother.

Juanita, the Turkish wasn’t totally an addition but perhaps more of a clarification. I don’t always trust the Spanish translations. Sultana didn’t say that Hazar was not allowed inside the konak in the Turkish.

I just thought it important to mention what Hanife said about burning along with her “siblings”, the default word used in Turkish. IIRC, Telemundo translated it in English as brothers and sisters. I remember that we saw a picture of Azize with her mother and brothers and sisters, there were several.

I am also unhappy with the switch to 2-hour eps. Two hours of Miran is more than I can take, and I agree that it’s a killer to recap. I’ll recap 2 hrs of Fatmagul out of love, but I don’t love Hercai as much. Most likely this is temporary. Hercai has the best ratings for primetime Telemundo, but it’s still losing to Uni. Seems Telemundo is getting desperate.

Many thanks, dondi356, for clarifying. I think you're usually right not to trust the Spanish version, since you've shown repeatedly that the Turkish often says something rather different. I've been most grateful for your knowledge of Turkish language and customs and your willingness to share that knowledge.

Yes, two hours of Miran is going to be a real challenge. I suspect that few of us have Reyyan's patience.

LOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL! When 2 hrs of “Miran” makes you wanna run for the hills!!! Yes, I feel your pain! Lol…….

Thanks for the clarification regarding Hanife’s statement about burning with her siblings. This leads me to believe that the cause of the fire undoubtedly in Azize’s and Hanife’s minds falls at the feet of the Sadoglus. While I don’t believe that for a second, cause nothing is as it seems here, someone started a fire, so there’s another culprit out there with a reason, once again, we have yet to learn.

If the fire hadn’t of happened before Yaren was an even thought of spud, I’d put my money on her!

Thanks so much, Nett, for another terrific recap!

Late to the party means missing out on putting up insights! I also was struck by Hanife's saying she wished she'd died with her siblings. They've shown that photograph on the wall a couple of times of Azize's entire family.

Here's my crockpot theory: There were three sisters in the photo. One of them was Azize and the other Ayse. Nasuh was in love with Ayse, who died in the fire. Azize perhaps wanted him for herself and the whole thing is about being a woman scorned. I don't think Nasuh would have tried to burn down his own property. Hanife was another sister in that photograph. This also neatly solves the fact that Nasuh doesn't recognize Azize as the Ayse he loved as a girl. There has been speculation that Azize could be Ayse.

I really like your crockpot theory, novelera. But, as you say, Hanife did say she wished she had died with her siblings. Were there also one or more boys/men in that photo. I remember there was a photo, but I don't recall it in any detail.

At any rate, I've never been comfortable with the notion that Azize is Ayse. Surely Nasuh would recognize her (perhaps, in Turkish fashion, by smell as well as visually). So I like your idea that Ayse died in the fire (as Nasuh seems to believe as well). Nasuh's role in all this is still not clear to me. Did he set the fire without knowing who was there? Whether or not he set the fire, did he at least try to save Ayse? Or did he decide that Ayse, too, was not of sufficiently high social status for him (just as he thought Dilsah was unworthy of his help and unworthy to be Hazar's wife)? Arrgh, so many questions, so few answers.

Herc

Very interesting theory, novelera, that certainly is possible.

I’ll add one more. Suppose that Ayse and Azize were in the fire and Azize was the one who really died (burned beyond recognition). Could Ayse have taken Azize’s identity? Maybe the sisters looked alike. Maybe she needed some plastic surgery because of burns. Then separated for some years afterward, it could be why he doesn’t recognize his Ayse. I know this theory is a longshot.

LOL, Juanita, on Nasuh being able to smell Ayse. You have seen enough dizis now to know this!

IIRC, there were boys in the photo, too.

There have been a few times when Yusuf gave Azize a strange look as if he senses something.

Wow, I am really late to the crockpot speculation party! But first, thank you Nett for an excellent recap. I was with my Mom last night and really did not watch with the full attention I needed and your recap was perfect to fill in the gaps.

I don’t have too much to add and like all the theories, especially that Azize and Ayse were sisters and Azize wanted Nasuh for herself. We also know Hanife wanted the old bastard at one point, ugh. I am at the Harun table. I think he is much smarter than the yellow centipede.

I think HALIMACANDY and I are the only ones excited about 2-hour episodes, Miran and all. 😊

Herc

Really different take on the Azize/Ayse/ Nasuh connection! Very interesting! I still think Azize and Ayse are one in the same, but you’ve made it much more intriguing novelera! I think Azize is Ayse gone over to the “dark side,” and that’s why Nasuh can’t see beyond the darkness…..loving the crockpot——it’s getting full! Can’t wait to see what spills over!

btw……does anyone think that Azat is being a bit unfair to Elif? Asking, no, almost insisting that she live a life of nothingness with him??????
