I wanted to thank dondi356 for the fabulous recap on the Friday episode. There was so much going on and I have been so behind in watching over these busy pre-holiday weekends. Everyone's comments have been so fun to read! I will have tonight's recap up shortly.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #23
Part 1 of 5
Harun tells the Sadoglu that he overheard the Aslanbey lawyers talking at the hotel. Azat immediately thinks back to the conversation he had with Firat about Harun’s past and why he is having him investigated. Harun continues, I know that you need to give the Aslanbey $20 million by tomorrow and I would like to give that money to you. Nasuh, Cihan and Azat all say no way, we didn’t ask for your help and we will not take that loan. Harun says he is also a businessman and would like this as an alternative investment for his parent’s company. He would provide the capital and join the Sadoglu company at 5% owner. Azat says no way, but Cihan and Nasuh say they need to think about it. Cihan escorts Harun out and Nasuh sees Hazar sitting in the courtyard.
Nasuh attempts to speak with Hazar who tells Cihan (after Nasuh tells Cihan to leave the discussion) that he has nothing to say to Nasuh. Nasuh chases after Hazar into the street begging him to stop. Finally, Hazar stops and asks, Why should I listed to you? Will it bring Dilsah back? Have you ever thought what things would be like if she had lived? Miran wouldn’t be how his is, Reyyan wouldn’t have suffered all those indignities. Hazar gets angry, saying you let this happen, you refused help to a helpless woman.
Nasuh says he couldn’t tell Hazar because Mehmet Aslanbey came to him a week before Dilsah sought him out. We go to a memory flashback of a rather handsome Mehmet Aslanbey telling Nasuh to let Hazar know that he and Dilsah have an agreement to get married and Hazar must let her go and stop sending her letters or he will kill him. Mehmet insinuates that Dilsah lost her virginity to him and is now his woman. Back in the present, Nasuh claims that he wanted Dilsah for Hazar and planned a big wedding for them when Hazar returned from the military. Hazar doesn’t believe word of what Nasuh says and tells him to stop lying. Cihan exits the konak and overhears the conversation. Nasuh begs Hazar to believe him saying he always had plans to ensure Dilsah was waiting for Hazar until Mehmet threatened his life.
Miran is sit at the cabin sitting on the stairs, in the cold. He remembers the morning after the honeymoon night, leaving Reyyan on the cold frozen ground crying for him to turn around. Reyyan comes out of the cabin with a blanket saying she has made tea and the fire is hot. Miran makes her remember that terrible morning again and wonders what would have happened if he had listened to the love in his heart and had turned around. They have another discussion, mainly from Reyyan, saying that she wished things were different but they have managed to live through these tough times and still be together. Shut up, grow up and come inside, it is freezing out here! (Okay, she didn’t say that). We have managed to be happy despite all of this. Forgive yourself Miran. Do you love me that much he asks? Before she can answer, HAG gives him a call on the cell. Answer, says Reyyan.
HAG puts on her best fake, I care about you voice, telling him she was worried about him. I am fine, just out walking with Reyyan. Miran struggles to keep his voice calm and relatively normal, not to out himself. He tells HAG not to worry they will be out all night. She continues to be suspicious, saying to herself, I cannot read your mind when the woman who rules your heart is around. Reyyan finally gets Miran into the warm cabin and asks him, how long wil1 you run away from the truth? I know it hurts but you have to face it. Miran suddenly seems to get some sort of resolve and says, it is over. It will end and everyone will have the same truth. He makes a call to Firat
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #23
Part 2 of 5
At the hotel, Harun speaks to the note master via phone. He confirms that the Sadoglu have no other options than to accept his $20 million dollar offer of help. Once he is a shareholder, he can take his place in the company. He admits he made a mistake in Istanbul. He again admires Azize’s astuteness. He tells the note master that Yaren is the devils apprentice and he doesn’t want to have to marry her. He is also convinced that Azat does not like him.
Azat comes to his bedroom and find a smiling Elif ready for bed. Unfortunately, they both discover that he is terribly allergic to the perfume he gave her as an afterthought Saint Valentines Day present. He has to return to sleeping on the couch outside the room. Elif throws the bottle on the bed in frustration.
Unable to sleep, Nasuh takes a midnight stroll, followed by Cihan. Nasuh remembers the conversation earlier with Hazar.
At the Aslanbey konak, Miran melodramatically calls all the family to join him in the courtyard in the middle of the night. With him is Hazar and Reyyan. The roaches, all in pajamas, oblige with their presence. HAG is not at all pleased and demands to know what Hazar is doing there. Miran dramatically asks the same question of her, why can’t he be there? HAG tries to leave back to her room, but Miran demands she stay.
Cihan calls out to Nasuh and asks if his conscience doesn’t allow him to sleep? My conscience is clear, says Nasuh. Cihan says, I really doubt that and begins a story about how much he loves cars and remembers when he was 15 years old, a brand new, dark green car was delivered to the cotton mill. GT wasn’t there, so Cihan took it for a ride and crashed it, damaging the fender and headlight. That was the night Hazar and Dilsah were shot. Cihan wonders why GT sold that car the very next day, never asking who had damaged it. Could it be because he took that car and followed Hazar when he found out he was meeting Dilsah? The shepherd was clear that he saw a damaged dark green car at the scene that night. After some back and forth, Nasuh admits that he was the one who shot Mehmet Aslanbey.
Back at Aslanbey HQ, Miran asks everyone to have patience, as HAG has had for 30 years. With the help of Firat, he reveals the reason for the drama, he has brought the lowly shepherd Shahmus as a guest to the konak. Everyone looks confused but Mahmoud looks shocked and Azize looks pissed, glaring at Mahmoud. Shahmus walks over to Miran as Miran remembers a call he received from Shahmus right before the visit he received from HAG. Shahmus tells Miran that Azize has haunted him his whole life and is now back to do it again. If Miran wants to know the real face of his bad Grannie, then come and listen to the conversation during the visit she is about to have with him, asking him to speak ill of a dead woman.
Now in the courtyard, Miran tells Shahmus, please answer the question we all want to know: Who is Azize Aslanbey? Shepard Shahmus says, Azize Aslanbey is a cruel woman who does not have pity even for her own family and who ruined my life. There it is, says Miran, she is a cruel woman who does not deserve the name Aslanbey and will no longer live in this konak. Azize, says Miran, prepare your things, I have a car for you, it is over, done. HAG looks at Miran and plays the “I took care of you as an orphan” speech, I held your head the other night in my lap as you begged me not to die, but you killed me here tonight Miran. She tries hard to bring him back to the Azize collective, but Miran, with Reyyan standing right next to him, stands tough and resists the urge to return.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #23
Part 3 of 5
By allowing the enemy to stand in our home, your parents have really died now, you betray yourself, not me, says HAG. At this, Firat moves closer and stands on Miran’s side opposite Reyyan. Stop using my parents to continue your lies, hisses Miran, for all your lies you no longer have the right to live in this family Azize. Now take your lies and get out! I will go, says HAG, but because you have no place to go. She shouts for Mahmoud and another guard to help her. Gonul and the rest are stunned by what just happened. Gonul asks her mother if the venganza is really over? Sultana says that with Azize, nothing is ever over!
In her room Azize thinks, how many times will you die? She packs away the picture of the kids and has the guys load up her truck of tricks. She vows to rise from the ashes once more and return. To be victorious, you have to lose small battles.
Back in the courtyard, Azize surveys everyone, only Esma has tears and runs to her room. The Shepard tells Azize that she destroyed his life. She snaps back saying, they believe you now, but wait until they find out who you are working for. Hazar breaks his silence and says, stop! You have threatened him and now you still tell lies about him?
Azize gives her farewell speech telling Miran he will regret what he did and will beg her forgiveness. She says, know that day is very, very close. She tells the rest that she will always have their best interest at heart since they are entrusted to her by her dead sons. Walking to the car, Azize turns when Esma calls for her. She has packed a few things and clearly is going with her, to Firat’s complete disapproval. She tells Firat that her place is with Azize and he needs to stay with Miran. A look passes between Miran and Esma (perhaps this was planned ahead?). With a look around at everyone, Azize departs.
Nasuh is telling Cihan that now he knows: Nasuh is responsible for killing Mehmet Aslanbey. He did it to protect Hazar. Cihan looks stunned saying he would do the same for his son, but he wouldn’t hide it from everyone for all these years. He thought his brother was a murderer because of GT keeping it secret. GT claims he made a mistake but will fix it. How? Asks Cihan. By telling Miran the truth, says GT. Cihan does not like that plan at all and tells GT that he can no longer put them all in danger by not working together to end the venganza.
Back in the courtyard, the Shepard says goodbye and apologizes for not telling the truth sooner or finding Miran sooner. Miran promises to keep him and his family safe. He sends a guard to take him anywhere he wants to go. Everyone seems to breath a sigh of relief. Reyyan tells Hazar, it is over. Not so fast, says Miran. He knows that Hazar didn’t defile his mother, but he is still not sure Hazar didn’t kill his parents. He wanted to prove to everyone that he could kick out HAG for all her lies to prove he could be fair to Hazar. Hazar says that now he will also look for the murderer and prove to Miran that he does not lie. Hazar leaves and Reyyan follows, reminding him not to let anyone know about the game he and Miran are playing. Hazar says he understands that Miran and he must look like enemies in front of everyone, but he is now at peace, since everyone knows he did not harm Dilsah.
Miran tells the roaches that he will continue to look for the murderer of his parents and life will go on without HAG. He heads upstairs, with Reyyan following after him.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #23
Part 4 of 5
In the car, Azize says they are going to Kars, but Esma wishes that they didn’t go so far away, so she can be closer to Firat. Esma recommends they go to the house Azize gave her years ago and Azize agrees. They talk about being on the same road together for years, even if Esma didn’t agree with Azize, they are family.
On the rooftop patio, Reyyan and Miran talk. She wonders if he regrets doing what he did? Doesn’t he worry that HAG might do even worse things to them? He says that she cannot because he no longer believes in her, he is a different Miran and everyone else knows what she has done to him for her revenge. His biggest concern is not being able to look Reyyan in the eyes because he is still ashamed of what he has done. She hugs him.
Hazar arrives home and Nasuh is waiting for him. Cihan tells GT not to say anything to Hazar. The shouts bring out Elif, Azat and of course Handan. Before GT can say anything. Hazar tells them that Miran kicked Azize out of the konak and the slander against him is over, but the venganza will continue until Miran and Hazar find the murderer of his parents. Elif tells Hazar she is happy for him and knows that one day Miran will learn that he could never do such a thing. Hanife listens to everything discussed. Nasuh tries again to go and tell Miran the truth but Cihan stops him, again.
Azize and Esma arrive at a rather large house. Esma invites Azize in as her guest and promptly begins to wait on her again including making up a bed so Azize can rest. Looking in a mirror, Azize tells herself to move slowly and plan her next move carefully. Her first move is getting rid of Reyyan and then make Miran pay for discovering the truth.
ReyMir are resting but Miran is tortured by memories of what he did to Reyyan and all the lies HAG told him. Reyyan asks him to share his feeling but he instead heads downstairs to get some more water. He thinks, why HAG? Why did you lie to me all my life? For what purpose? He sees the light on in Good Grannie’s bedroom and heads in that direction.
Yaren is freaking out trying to pick the lock on her door. She thinks back to Harun not ending the engagement and wanting to continue with her. She is packed and ready to run away. She calls Firat and asks him to meet her. Like a dummy, he says yes. She manages to get her door open and prepares to run away. Unfortunately, her escape route is blocked by Hazar coming up the stairs. She hides in Reyyan’s room. As he passes Reyyan’s room, Hazar seems to be called inside. Yaren is forced to hide as he enters and sits on the bed. We see her and her hat (looks like she and Victoria from Loli have the same taste in hats) underneath the bed. Hazar looks at a family picture when Azat comes in claiming he saw the light on. Hazar welcomes him in.
Good Grannie also welcomes Miran into her bedroom as she cannot sleep. She encourages him to talk to her and let out his concerns and feelings. He tells her he cannot get rid of the embarrassment nor is he able to heal the wounds he opened up in Reyyan. Good Grannie says that Miran has also been wounded by Azize.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #23
Part 5 of 5
(The scenes of similar conversations go back and forth between GG/Miran and Hazar/Azat. I am losing steam, so will just get to the point of each convo). Good Grannie tells Miran he cannot change the past but can stand strong and fix the past now. Miran says he will focus on standing strong and illuminating those who he put in darkness.
Azat is glad that the truth come out about Dilsah. Hazar is also relieved. He anguishes about how those like GT who keep secrets ruined his life, Dilsah’s life and Miran’s. As Yaren listens intently, she ignores a call from Firat. He gets frustrated and tosses the phone saying, I never should have answered in the first place. Azat finally tells Hazar that he knows Reyyan is adopted and Hazar needs to tell her or he is no better than GT. This bit of news is music to the ears of the yellow centipede under the bed. Gul comes into the room and takes Hazar and Azat out, leaving Yaren to squirm out from beneath the bed in jubilation. She was going to call Reyyan to give her the news but decides to do it in person, as the episode ends.
Thanks VERY much, VVS, for this excellent recap.
It's interesting that Nasuh finally confesses to Cihan that he killed Mehmet Aslanbey. However, he says nothing about Dilsah. I'm not positive, but I think Omer said (in an earlier episode) that the same kind of bullet killed both Mehmet and Dilsah. If that's the case, did Nasuh kill Dilsah as well??
Also, Cihan keeps urging Nasuh not to tell Hazar the truth about Mehmet's killing. Cihan fears that Azize would find out and would become even more intent on hurting Nasuh, and she would do so by killing his only grandson, Azat. At one point, Cihan tells Nasuh that he (Cihan) will deliberately throw Hazar off the track so he won't find out.
I was somewhat surprised that Miran had the authority to kick Azize out of the mansion. I guess blood and gender rule: Miran is the only known male Aslanbey descendant, and his maleness and his supposed Aslanbey blood give him priority over Azize, a woman who was not born an Aslanbey.
I'm very surprised that Esma feels such intense loyalty to Azize, in spite of knowing many of the terrible things Azize has done. How can Esma choose Azize over Firat, whom she has raised as her son?
I was expecting the house Azize bought for Esma to be quite modest. Esma describes it as "small, but big enough for the two of us." Huh?? The house looked quite grand to me.
VVS, you say that after Esma and Azize arrive at the house, Azize looks in a mirror and thinks to herself that "Her first move is getting rid of Reyyan and then make Miran pay for discovering the truth." Did you get that from the Turkish version? I don't recall its being in Telemundo's version. I'm astonished that they would have cut it out.
It looks as if tomorrow night I may have to deal with Yaren's confronting Reyyan about her parentage. I'm not wholly sure why Yaren thinks this issue will put a stop to her wedding with Harun, but....
Great recap once again VVS! Thank you! Much appreciated! I figured that Nasuh’s reason for keeping the truth from Hazar had to be from some type of threat from Mehmet. I didn’t think that Mehmet would reveal that Dilsah was “used goods” though——- such an “un-gentlemanly” thing to do! But even with that information, Hazar would’ve already known that since he was the one with Dilsah prior to going into military service. What’s so funny to me is that I CANNOT even begin to imagine Hazar and Dilsah in the throws of passion! Lol! So it had to be a quiet kinda “ We’re both so sad Hazar has to go,” lovemaking session. Hazar is such a sad sack anyway, lol.
I don’t believe for a second that Nasuh killed Mehmet. I think Mehmet shot both Hazar and Dilsah and then realized what he did and shot himself. Then the evil Azize arrived and changed the crime scene. Nasuh arrived after the fact and did what he had to do to get his son outta there! Just theorizing though………but all roads, imo, lead to Azize. Wow, the look of pure hate she flashed at Hazar as she left the konak was unmistakable! She’s gonna drown in regret in her hate for him, especially when she finds out that Hazar is her son!——-another theory, lol. Just have to wait and see………
Miran is his own worst enemy. He’s been given the gift of both love and forgiveness, yet he wants to wallow in that horrible moment. Yes, it was horrible, and completely unfair, but if he continues to stay “mired,” lol, no pun intended, in it, he’s gonna live another long life of regret like Azize, Nasuh, and Hazar. It’s like he’s not happy unless he’s sad, lol.
Where in the world did Yaren get that OOGLY hat! The hat wasn’t so much ugly as it was with Yaren wearing it! I was cracking up when Harun was describing Yaren as Satan’s daughter, and he DEFINITELY was not marrying her! Takes one to know one, huh Harun! You’re not exactly St Nick either, not even close! Yaren will probably try to use the info of “another” deep seeded secret that no one wants revealed, to blackmail Nasuh into not making her marry Harun. Why Firat continues to allow himself to be used by her is a big unknown, but I think he’s finally getting the message. I hope they have someone nice and suitable for Firat come into the picture——- just so he won’t continue to be a pawn for Yaren, and possibly thinking of what “could’ve been” between them. I also don’t believe that Firat is Gonul’s long lost brother. Azize is such a user and liar, and always wants to have the upper hand. She’s reads people, just like last night when she admitted that she couldn’t read Miran at the moment.
Poor Elif! That’s all I gotta say on her and Azat……. I did like Cihan calling Nasuh to to the carpet for allowing him to believe all these years that Hazar was a murderer. I just hope that Cihan doesn’t go off like a vigilante creating more trouble for Hazar.
Thanks again VVS!
Thank you Juanita and carmella for the early morning comments, fill ins and super crockpot theories.
Juanita, you are correct about the bullets all being the same but there was blood from 4 different people at the crime scene according to Omer. I don’t think that Nasuh killed anyone that night. The intense discussions with Nasuh and Cihan have me puzzled. Why not tell the truth to Miran? I have never really trusted Cihan and think his jealousy with Hazar may interfere with any do-good deeds, although the other night he did stay with Hazar after meeting with Ayla. Oh and yes, the mirror scene in that big house was in the Turkish version. I did not notice that it was cut from the Telemundo version. Esma really has me confused as well. I did notice a significant look between Esma and Miran, so I think he asked he to go with Azize to keep an eye on her.
carmella, you are on a roll this morning! I just love your take on events and the crockpot theories! That Hazar is the love child of Ayse/Azize and Nasuh is definitely plausible, I am not sure about the version of the crime scene, but we can throw that in the crockpot for sure! I am with you about Hazar being a boring not fiery lover, but he and Dilsah sure managed to make Miran. Ugh, Miran, get off your pity pot! I hope the talk with Good Grannie helps him move forward.
“Where in the world did Yaren get that OOGLY hat!” made me laugh because I speculated last night that Yaren was friends with a character from La Suerte de Loli named Victoria who wore ridiculous hats that had me, dondi356, novelera and Juanita always commenting on! I think we are in for a total Reyyan meltdown when the truth comes out about Hazar not being the bio dad. I sure hope Miran grows up enough to support her through this Yaren bomb.
VVS, thanks for every detail of the eviction of Nasty Old Red Riding Hood .yikes Miran was doing a lot of huffing and puffing last night .This guy is very high maintenance . It would be exhausting to be in his orbit no matter how handsome he is.
My fav part was Yaren hiding under that bed eavesdropping . She could hardly contain herself as the secrets were dropped . Then, she wiggled out for under that bed, put on her bucket hat , and was off to gleefully confront Rey.
You’re absolutely right Susanlynn! And even at this stage in his life, “Mr hotness or notness”(love that!) is still making babies, lol……..
And not to minimize the fact that Azize got terribly burned in the fire, but “Liar, liar, pants on fire.”
Not looking forward to Yaren’s big reveal either…..
Thanks Susanlynn for the funny comments! “the eviction of Nasty Old Red Riding Hood” and “As for Hazar 's hotness or notness, perhaps still waters run deep.” So true! Yes, Yaren sucking in every detail under the bed was so much better than just eavesdropping at a porous door!

Appreciate your comments HALIMACANDY! I always enjoy reading your cultural comments as well. HAG sure does have that “Puss in Boots” or puppy dog stare down for sure. You would think that Hazar would remember having sex with Dilsah and the possibility that Miran is his son!
Yaren aka the Yellow Centipede, this came from the direct Turkish translation to English on YouTube. It really fit last night.
Muka knocks on Fatma’s door to have a chat. Muka is not confident in Kadir. He’s always saying, “I don’t know”. They will take you to the crime scene, you’ll see. [Muka is despicable for bringing this up.] Good for Fatma, she calmly counters, the psychologist said that wouldn’t be necessary. Besides, she and Kerim told them everything already. Fatma just wants Muka to leave so she can take a bath.
Muka isn’t so sure. They won’t leave us alone, she says. in the Turkish Muka continued, uff Fatmagul, why did you press charges? Everything was forgotten, you were going to work every day. You were preparing for your exams. Now you will fail. [Muka is only worried about herself] Fatma says she will not fail.
[Turkish] Muka says, I wish there was a miracle to stop this trial. Can’t you just change your mind? Leave their punishment up to God and drop the charges? [I really hate this woman] Fatma gets ticked, why would I do that? Muka says it would be for her own good [meaning Muka’s good] She continues to put the pressure on Fatma. Who knows what those evil Yasarans are planning? Fatma replies that she isn’t afraid of anyone. [Turkish] They are the ones who should be scared. She sees Muka out the door.
Kerim comes up the stairs as Muka walks down the hall. Kerim asks what happened and Muka says Fatma is not good. She told me she is very angry with you. She is tired of your wishes to continue this.
Kerim knocks on Fatma’s door. What do you want, she calls out. Kerim asks her to open the door, but Fatma says she wants to be alone. I want to talk, he says. She doesn’t want to talk to anyone. Kerim walks away.
Things look a little uneasy between Kerim and Fatma at dinner. We see Mustafa at his house--he’s drinking and we see he’s got the gun. We also see him staking out the hotel the next day.
Kerim is taken to the crime scene. Kadir and Meryem are with him. We were here, Kerim points out. Erdogan Yasaran gave us drugs and I accepted. And after drinking lots of alcohol, everything became blurry. Everything that happened that night is still blurry. We see flashbacks interspersed with Kerim’s recollections. Then suddenly, over there, Kerim says, she appeared. I was the first one to see her and pointed her out to the others. I tried to trap her.
Meryem is horrified and puts her hands on her ears and has to walk away. Kerim continues, at first it was a game. Then I approached her and held her tight. And then it was a nightmare. Kerim is too upset to continue. He walks several steps away and cries. Meryem is sobbing. We see Mustafa lurking nearby, his hand on the gun.
Kadir walks over to Kerim to bring him back to the investigation. With no clear shot, Mustafa leaves.
Fatma is sitting outside having tea and Muka comes along again to spread more poison. I wish this day was over, she says. She sent Rahmi and Murat into town. Muka questions, you haven’t spoken much with Kerim since we arrived, why? No, we’ve talked, Fatma replies. But you are angry with him and you are right, Muka says. Lots of things have happened quickly.
At the beginning, he did everything possible to look good, Muka says, he did everything to get closer to you, including telling you he loved you and giving you a ring. He put you by his side so you wouldn’t report him and then he confessed everything. Fatma responds, but he confessed what he did too, he didn’t hide anything.
Muka continues, that’s why he’s not in prison. That’s why he was the first to tell everything. Fatma says Kerim will also be punished. They won’t punish him, Muka says, he’s your husband. You will forgive him, and why wouldn’t the judge? I haven’t forgiven anyone, Fatma asserts. I’m just trying to forget everything.
Did you forget he took money from the Yasarans, Muka asks? That money is in the bank, and he admitted guilt. He was the one who saved them. [did you forget you took money, too, and helped set up Kerim to marry Fatma?] Fatma gets ticked, what are you trying to do?
Muka explains, He is fooling you again. Kerim isn’t innocent. He did what he had to do and took money. He made you forgive him in a few months, including you wearing his ring on your finger. He did this to convince us of his innocence. I bet it will be the same in court. And then you will never see him again. [in the Turkish, Muka also says he sent that boy to convince you as well and he will testify to that in court.]
Fatma gets up to leave and Muka stops her and continues with her self-serving agenda. [Turkish] He even gave you the attorney letter. He’s so smart. He knows you will divorce him when he’s gone. But this trial will only hurt you, Fatmagul. He’s not stupid. He’s fooling us and you believe everything he says. This trial will save no one but him. Fatma answers, I want this to be over as soon as possible, nothing more. She leaves. Muka gets in one last shot, keep fooling yourself. Fatma walks away from the hotel.
Munir speaks with Resat. He is tried to get to the prosecutor with no luck, but they have a friend in common who can speak with him. We hear the friend trying to influence the prosecutor. The friend signals to Munir. Can’t tell if the prosecutor is buying any of it. Munir tells Resat that the boys changed cells. They are with others who have been accused of similar crimes.
We see the Yasaran boys surrounded and stared at by their new cellmates.
Fatma walks down the road and comes to entrance to Mustafa’s house. She heads there as we see Mustafa driving. Fatma looks at the ruins of the house he was building for them. She thinks back to the day he burned it and Halide told her to get lost.
Unfortunately, Mustafa arrives home and spots Fatma. He drives up and she turns. You came back to our house, he says as he approaches her. Were you looking for me? I didn’t even know you were here, she replies. He stops her from leaving. Why did you come, he asks? Let me go, she says. If you don’t love me, if you still think I’m a monster, what are you doing here, he asks. You came because you still love me.
No, Fatma answers and breaks away. Mustafa runs in front of her, I still love you. Despite everything that has happened, I still love you. I never stopped loving you. He puts his hand out, come with me, Fatmagul. Let’s go away from here without telling anyone. Forget it, she says and walks. Mustafa can’t accept that and he grabs her. She begins to struggle and he pulls out his gun.
Kerim, Kadir and Meryem return to the hotel. Kadir says they can start packing to go back to Istanbul and he and Meryem go out back. Kerim goes to his room. Rahmi and Muka ask how it went. Kerim says they did the investigation and took his statement. Muka tells Kerim that Fatma went out.
Mustafa brings Fatma into his house. Where were you going, he asks, to your husband? This gun is for him. You know I’m going to kill him. You are not like that, Fatma says. Are you afraid for him, Musto asks, you are afraid your husband will die? I’m not afraid of anything, Fatma claims. Don’t be ridiculous, she says, drop the gun. Musto asks, you married him just to punish me, right? You did it because I turned my back on you and sold out to the Yasarans. Tell me!
He backs her into a corner. I know you don’t love him. You married him because you had no choice. Tell me, he shouts, you still love me! It’s over, she tells him. What’s over, he asks, what? She shouts back, I don’t love you! I will never love you! He forces a kiss on her, and she pukes.
Mustafa backs away and goes outside. He makes a call. I want to leave a message for Kerim Ilgaz. Fatma is listening. They put Musto’s call through. Fatmagul is with me, you scum! She’s where she belongs, with me! Kerim is alarmed. She is with me, in my house! My house! Kerim shouts, where?! Musto says he will give him the address. Come get Fatmagul! He adds, if you’re enough of a man, come alone!
Fatma comes out and yells, Kerim, don’t come! He’s going to kill you! Fatma throws a glass at Musto and runs.
Kerim runs to the truck and takes off. Fatma takes off into the field with Mustafa chasing her. Kerim arrives and he starts chasing them.
Mustafa catches up to Fatma and grabs her. I’m going to kill him right in front of your eyes! Fatma struggles and shouts. You hate me that much, he shouts, you can’t even stand me touching you. Don’t beg me for that man!
Kerim catches up and shouts, Mustafa! Fatma shouts, no, Kerim, don’t come! Kerim runs towards them. Mustafa draws the gun and shoots Kerim in the arm. Fatma takes Mustafa down to the ground! [that’s got to be the highlight of the week!] Kerim gets up and charges forward. While Fatma struggles with Musto, Kerim grabs the gun.
Kerim aims the gun at Mustafa. Don’t move! Fatma shouts at Kerim, no! Don’t touch her, Kerim says. Mustafa tells Kerim to shoot him. You’re not enough of a man if you don’t do it. Fatma pleads, Kerim, don’t do it. Musto shouts, do it, coward! Kerim looks at Fatma and back to Mustafa. I’ve got nothing left to lose, Musto says. [Turkish for the rest of the scene] I lost my honor, I lost my humanity, go on and take my life, too.
Fatma shouts, Kerim, no, this is what they wanted, to give you the gun! Musto says, if I had that gun, I swear I wouldn’t hesitate to kill you. Pull the trigger and end this. Kerim holds his aim on Musto. Fatma says, Kerim, if you really love me, you won’t pull that trigger. Kerim looks at her and says, I love you so much. He looks at Mustafa, who can’t believe what Fatma said. Kerim points the gun inches from Mustafa’s head. Fatma shouts, no!
Kerim hesitates, then throws the gun into the water. Mustafa attacks Kerim and a fight ensues. Fatma steps in. Enough, Mustafa! We are not your enemy! You are your own enemy! Everyone made their choice! You didn’t choose, Mustafa tells her, I forced you to choose. She shouts, it’s over, you have to get over it! Put your conscience at ease. I’m not even angry at you. Pull yourself together! It’s over! Please!
Kerim holds his hand out to Fatma, let’s go. She gives Mustafa a disdainful look and takes Kerim’s hand. They walk away together, hand in hand. They snipped the end. Kerim tells her, don’t look back. She asks if he’s okay. He says, he’s very good. That was the end of Turkish ep 31.
Turkish ep 32 opens with everyone arriving to the house in Istanbul. Cut: Rahmi enters the house first and picks up mail from the floor and puts it on the table. Kerim gets some bags out of the truck. Fatma goes through the mail and finds a letter addressed to Kerim, it’s from his father. She takes the letter, tucks it in her bag. She puts the bag down and heads to the kitchen.
Kerim heads to the kitchen with all the bags. He’s going to put Meryem’s in her room, but she stops him and tells him to go wash up. She takes the bag and hides the letter under her mattress.
Kerim tells Fatma she’s home again [like he promised]. You must be tired, she tells him, you should rest. He’s fine. Fatma goes to the kitchen. Kerim smiles.
Meryem tells Fatma she’s not giving Kerim the letter. Better he doesn’t know, he will only rip it up. What will you do, Fatma asks, hide it? Meryem says she’s curious about what he wrote. [Turkish] He’s been writing these letters for years. Maybe there’s a problem. Feeling guilty, Meryem asks, we’re not doing anything wrong are we?
Kerim heads for the kitchen and Meryem switches the subject to how nice Kadir Bey is. He doesn’t even want to talk about money. It’s more important to win the case. Still Meryem wants an accounting. She wants to put money away for him. Kerim says he will take care of that. Meryem says that Kadir wants to go back to Izmir. She says Kadir is a quiet and calm man. He never panics. Meryem has confidence in him.
Muka walks into the convo and says, Kadir Bey, Kadir Bey, I wonder what we did before we met him. She gives Meryem a raised eyebrow.
Meryem tells Kerim she will change his bandage. Fatma asks Kerim if it still hurts. He smiles and says, no. [He’s just happy she took his hand, literally and figuratively.]
Omer asks Kadir why no complaint was filed against Mustafa. Fatmagul didn’t want it. Neither did Kerim as a matter of pride. Omer says they are going to use that man. Why hide it? Kadir says if Kerim doesn’t want to file a complaint, there’s nothing he can do. Omer says he’s focusing on Turaner and what he’s doing to impede the investigation. Kadir says they need to keep Fatmagul away from the press, so she doesn’t suffer more. Omer asks, what about the ex-fiancé? Kadir says he filed an order of protection.
Mustafa is sulking over Fatma and drinking. He replays her taking Kerim’s hand and walking. Munir finds him. Where were you? We were looking all over. I’m here in the garbage. Now I am part of the garbage dump. What are you talking about, Munir says, you promised you wouldn’t do anything. You caused more problems. They issued an order of protection against you. Munir grabs him to come. Musto resists. You have to give your statement, Munir shouts.
Don’t involve me in this, Mustafa replies. What are you talking about, Munir asks? It’s over, Mustafa says. She asked me. Who, Famagul? She says she’s not mad, Mustafa tell Munir. She told me to have a clean conscience. She wasn’t even mad at me. They left hand in hand. She left with that guy and she vomited when I touched her. Before she loved me…. now I disgust her. Mustafa cries.
Munir tries to calm him. Now she hates me, he blubbers. Munir says he has to hate Fatma now. Here is a great opportunity to get your revenge. Fatmagul has to pay for everything she’s done to you. If you want to hurt her, you have to give your testimony that she is lying. Don’t let them win.
Meryem tells Kerim he’s lucky to be alive. He had an angel watching over him. [yes, and Fatmagul made that spectacular takedown of Mustafa!] Rahmi comes in and reaches for Kerim’s arm. Uh. He asks Kerim if it hurts. Kerim clicks his tongue. In Turkish speak, that means no.
Meryem tells Kerim he shouldn’t go to work tomorrow. He’s going, he already missed a week and besides there’s only a couple of days of work left. Meryem wonders when they will get protection, if at all. We need to be careful, she says. They will try something. They sent Mustafa to attack you (Kerim). Meryem is afraid. He was already hurt, he could have died. [Maybe Fatma is concerned, too?]
Kerim says today something more important than that bullet happened. Fatma makes an excuse that Murat called and leaves the kitchen. Kerim smiles at Meryem, I’m happy. She trusts me. Meryem says to get some sleep and asks if he will get up early tomorrow. Yes, and he will take Fatma to work before going to his job. Meryem doesn’t want him to drive so she will take them both. Kerim leaves.
Fatma asks Meryem if she’s going to read the letter. Should we? They head to Meryem’s room. Meryem says Kerim would have ripped it without reading. I don’t feel bad. We can read it. She opens the envelope and starts reading aloud.
Muka gets from the living room and looks towards the kitchen. She goes and listens at Meryem’s door as Meryem reads [Turkish]:
Dear son, just another letter in which I am probably talking to myself. A letter like the previous ones, written with a tiny bit of hope. Galip Usta’s loss took my breath away. There’s no one left to give me news about you. Meryem stops to say they were in contact with each other. She continues reading, Mine is a life that will never be complete, something will always be missing. As the poet said: “a life that couldn’t be life.” Fatma wishes Kerim would read this.
Kerim looks out his window and sees Muka listening at Meryem’s door. He calls Meryem to alert her.
Meryem reads: at times I feel the distance between us disappear and all of a sudden I find myself standing in front of you and I start to breathe again.
Meryem’s phone rings and Muka moves back from the door. Muka is at your door, Kerim says, she’s listening. Muka sees Kerim watching her. She bends down as Meryem opens the door and BS’s she was picking up crumbs from the floor. Muka got an earful anyway and Kerim has no idea what happened. [let him have a little happiness before the next disaster]
Fatma sneaks back into Meryem’s room so they can finish the letter. Muka sees that Fatma isn’t in her bed but at least she thinks twice about spying again.
Resat calls Munir for an update. Did you find Mustafa? Yes, we found the idiot in a place near the sea. He shot Kerim. What?! He’s okay it was a graze on the arm. Did they report it, Resat asks? No. Does he still have that thing? No, Munir replies, Kerim threw it in the sea. Resat says they are back at the beginning, good. Munir says he will bring Mustafa for his testimony against them (Fatma, Kerim). Resat doesn’t have total confidence in Mustafa. Munir tells him not to worry.
Resat ask Munir about Perihan visiting Selim. He’s setting that up.
Resat gives Perihan an edited rundown of what’s happening. She feels his hiding something from her.
Fatma worries about telling Erol she needs time off. Meryem says he should understand it’s a medical appointment. Yes, but she’s already had a lot of time off. Kerim says he will talk to Erol. Fatma declines the offer. They pull up to the restaurant. When Kerim gets out of the car, she whispers to Meryem [Turkish] maybe you should tell him? Meryem says in the evening.
Kerim asks Meryem what you (Meryem and Fatma) were talking about last night. It had Muka’s attention. Seems you don’t know her, Meryem deflects, she’s always listening, especially when two people are alone together. Kerim laughs in agreement.
We cut directly to Muka in Meryem’s room reading the letter: [Turkish] I can’t bring back the 18 years we have lost. I know it’s impossible to make up for the hole I opened up in your life. But I’m still dreaming of the day you will say “come back” to me. Everything I have is yours… my whole existence. Muka gets that devilish smile we want to smack right off her face. Rahmi interrupts her, she comes out, then heads right back into Meryem’s room after he leaves.
Fatma explains she has an appointment she must keep. Erol asks if she is sick. No it’s for control. Erol is not happy. He wants her to put it off if it’s not an emergency. They have a lot of people coming tomorrow. She is ashamed to ask but she really needs to go. She says this is the last time. Erol hopes so. Erol lays on the guilt. They are busy, the others are exhausted…don’t let me down.
Mustafa gives his testimony with Munir present. We were getting married in a few days. I was working day and night. At times I wouldn’t come back for days. Meanwhile, they met each other. The prosecutor asks, so that means they knew each other before the incident? Musto replies, they were together but nothing happened until that night. Are you saying they didn’t have sex until that night, the prosecutor asks? Musto nods yes, not until that night.
Musto continues, they continued seeing each other, Kerim Ilgaz convinced her. He promised her a life in Istanbul. She was naïve. When did you realize they were together, the prosecutor asks, after the incident? No, I sensed there was something between them. Fatmagul changed a lot. She said she wanted to live in Istanbul if we married. I said, “If we married? We’re engaged.”
The prosecutor says, but you live in Istanbul now. Musto says he had to. He couldn’t stand what others said behind his back. [Turkish] I had to choose between killing them both or …. Munir interrupts, calm down, calm down.
The prosecutor gets back on track. You said you knew they were together before the incident. Musto says they were working at the Yasarans the night of the engagement. Who? Fatma, her SIL, her brother and other townsfolk. It was late so I went looking for her. I saw them. Fatma and that bastard. Munir adds, Kerim Ilgaz.
He ran off when he saw me, Musto says. I asked Fatma who was he? She told me a lot of lies. She didn’t know him. I told her I was leaving in the morning. I threatened to break our engagement. We fought. She went to him. His house, the prosecutor asks. No, to the beach. The scene of the crime, Munir interjects. The prosecutor holds his finger up to be quiet.
Musto continues, she went to break up with him. She was afraid to lose me. He (Kerim) tried to convince her and when he couldn’t he did it by force. He raped her. Musto says the Yasarans had nothing to do with it. He is the only guilty one. The prosecutor wonders how Musto knows all these details. Her yenge (SIL Muka) told me, Musto replies. Mukaddes Ketenci, Munir says. The prosecutor makes note.
When I came back and found out, Musto says, I looked for Fatmagul. She wasn’t talking. I asked her again and again. She said nothing. She was protecting him (Kerim). She was sad. Later, she left the hospital. Mukaddes told my mother everything. We found them and they had married.
The prosecutor asks why do you think Kerim Ilgaz filed a complaint about his friends Selim, Erdo and Vural? Musto answers, he told them first about the incident and afterwards he wanted them to hide him. They advised him on marriage and involved Munir Bey.
Munir says he already gave his testimony. Kerim asked for money to go to Istanbul. Munir says he went to the hospital at the boys’ insistence. He fooled Fatma into saying they raped her, so he could get away with it and take the money.
The prosecutor asks, why would they give money for a crime they didn’t commit? Munir says they had given money before (to help him out). Musto is sweating and adds that Kerim wanted to go to Istanbul because “he thought I was going to kill him”. Since those guys were his friends, they wanted to help him. Munir makes it clear that Erdo gave the money, not Selim.
The prosecutor asks how Musto started working for the Yasarans. I asked for work, he replies. I had no place to go, no money, I asked for help.
Erdo and Selim walk in the prison yard. They’ve been there 8 days. They wonder what’s going on outside. Selim hasn’t heard from Meltem. Other inmates hurl insults their way. Erdo says to ignore. Selim says they can’t even make calls. Erdo says they would only listen in and use it in court. Your convo with Meltem wouldn’t be very romantic anyway.
An inmate throws pee on Erdo and Selim from the window. Erdo tries to climb up to reach them and is pulled away by guards.
Munir congratulates Mustafa on his testimony. It’s sure to confuse sufficiently. Musto says they are going to call Muka to testify, too. Can you convince her? We have to, Munir replies.
As Musto and Munir leave the building, a reporter and photographer approach. Is it true that the heirs to Yasaran Holding have been arrested? Everyone has a copy of the report. Munir tries to mitigate the damage. They were slandered…yada….yada….yada. The reporters press for more info. Munir denies. If you want to discuss this, be my guest.
Munir wonders who alerted the press. We cut to Meltem who admits to Gaye she tipped the press. What about your father’s reputation, Gaye asks? My father is only thinking of himself, Meltem says. It’s time for everyone to know. Gaye can’t believe this. Meltem says she can’t believe how stupid she was.
Fatma’s mind is clearly not on her work. She gets a visitor, it’s Meltem. Meltem asks her to sit. Erol notices. Fatma is worried. No one here knows about this. I didn’t come to upset you, Meltem says, I am here because I believe you. You have been honest with me since the beginning. You were brave enough to tell me the truth. I wasn’t brave enough to see it. I need to know everything.
It’s too late, Fatma says, you should have believed me. Meltem places Selim’s ring on the table. He lost it that night. Fatma says she never saw this before. My SIL found it Meltem says, in the place where they did this. Fatma says Muka brought it to the Yasarans and asked whose it was. Meltem thinks back. The offered her money, Fatma tells Meltem, and told us to be quiet. We couldn’t do anything.
We see Fatma’s coworker talking to Erol in the background.
Fatma gets up from the table. Meltem stops her. Tell me everything. Fatma pulls away from her and bumps into someone causing a spill. Erol comes over to tell her to apologize. Fatma loses it. She storms out. Meltem chases her. She gives her the ring. Let them rot, I am with you, she says. Fatma doesn’t want to touch it. Meltem wraps it in tissue. Let them get their punishment. Don’t tell anyone I gave this to you. Fatma takes off running.
Kadir says the ring was important then, what will they do with it now? Muka says we can’t prove anything. Get rid of it. Kerim asks if Meltem can be a witness. I wish she would, Kadir says. Fatma says she won’t. Muka goes for the ring saying she will keep it. Kadir takes it. Maybe they can get DNA off it.
Mustafa returns to Asu. He asks if she took care of “it”. She waffles. He gets upset. She really wants this baby. He is adamant. How will we explain the past to the child when he asks? And if it is a girl, and if Sami meets her or Bilal? Do you want me to become a killer? Don’t count on me, he says. I can’t have a family. While I hate myself so much, I can’t be nice to anyone. I can’t take on more responsibility. We are two travelers who don’t know the final destination. Don’t dream of a family with me. Prepare for the worst. Asu says she will take care of it tomorrow.
Fatma and Kerim are helping Meryem with her herbal preps. Fatma motions to Meryem to talk to Kerim. Muka interrupts and mentions Fatma has free time now to help Meryem. Meryem says Fatma will take this time for her studies and she can see the doctor without worries. Kerim says he can help. Fatma smiles.
Muka says Kerim should help Fatma with her English since he speaks English so well [..not] when he talks to Kristen. Speaking of Kristen, they are finished with work, and she is having a dinner planned. Do you want to come with me, Kerim asks Fatma? No thanks, she replies. Everyone is going with their partners/spouses. It will be nice, Muka says, don’t let your husband go alone. Fatma keeps making excuses. Everyone talks her into it.
Emre shows up for Kerim. He just came to drop off Fatma’s things and her final pay. Muka makes a crack that Emre give her regards to his mother. She always turns away when she sees her. After Emre leaves Muka says Beyhan insulted her in front of a neighbor. Everyone is suspicious now.
An article is published in the newspaper. “The son in law of Turaner Alagoz is accused of rape” Everyone is named and there are pictures, too. Munir is yelling at someone over the phone. Resat shouts, we’ll sue!
Turaner is dealing with the fallout from the article, too. blah…blah…blah. Meltem and Gaye leave the room.
Gaye thinks Meltem was wrong to do what she did. Meltem doesn’t care.
Turaner barges into Meltem’s room. Are you happy now? Cancellation of my candidacy is being discussed. She denies she did anything. You got us involved with that family (Yasarans), he says, I told you not to marry him. He blames her. [Turkish] You hid what happened on your wedding day. If you would have told me I would have taken care of it that day. They wouldn’t have been able to stain our names.
Ender says so we sue for divorce now. No way, says Turaner. That would be admitting everything. They should have divorced quietly before the scandal hit. He’s got to deny everything and do damage control. He’s angry… yada, yada, yada. He wants Meltem to keep her mouth shut.
The family sees the paper too. Rahmi says at least they didn’t mention Fatma or Kerim.
Just to get away from Muka, Meryem suggests they start to get ready for the doctor appointment. Muka reminds Fatma to dress nice since she’s going to dinner afterward.
Kerim and his workers are cleaning up the worksite. Kristen comes by and says there is still something left to fix. He will take care of it. [in the Turkish, we get to hear Engin’s bad English again.] She says we did good work here. Not bad, Kerim says. She looks at him, then he was it was wonderful. The best part of the job was being able to see you again, she tells him. Kerim replies, I’m glad that we worked together as well. She says she will get more work and they can work together again. I hope so, he answers.
Kristen asks if Fatma will be with them this evening. Yes. You smile when you talk about her, Kristen says. When I said “come to England” you said "I can’t leave the place I’m from." So you left and came to Istanbul. Then you said you’d never get married and then you got married. You must really love her. He smiles a big yes. She is a lucky girl, Kristen says.
Kerim switches the subject, do you need help for this evening? Kristen says she has it all organized. I’ll make the final check, Kerim tells her and walks away. He turns back briefly to look at Kristen. Kristen has a wistful look.
And we are out.
Thank you Dondi!! For another amazing recap! I love the way you put your own thoughts in there and of course your attention to telling us what is cut and where the translations differ.
Muka is horrible! Always always horrible and her trying to manipulate Fatma by telling her Kerim was manipulating her is a new lower. It's surprising she can get any lower! That said, I kind of love the actress. I love the way she walks when Muka is hurrying and her facial expressions. I bet she would be gold in a comedic show!
Fatma says 'that is what they want' and I hadn't thought about it until I read your recap, but I bet that IS what Munir wanted!!! He rebukes Mustafa for getting into trouble, but he told him Kerim was in town when he 'warned' him not to do anything. Sly. Luckily Fatma is smarter than him.
That scene with Fatma says 'If you really love me...' takes in more meaning when you consider Muka spent the morning trying her convince her he didn't...I wonder if throwing the gun in the water convinced her??
Once again, Meltem while probably meaning well causes more trouble than not demanding answers from the victim. Fatma loses her job and I was totally thinking the getting the ring back months later would do nothing, I am glad Kadir said the same, I didn't want them to try and make us buy that was proof. Meltem's dad isn't much better than Resat.
Mustafa is a rat!! Forcing Asu to get an abortion, and lying about Fatma for revenge!! What a winner no wonder Fatma puked when he kissed her - I laughed out loud at that!!
Kerim now has his hope AND his first date on deck. It would be nice if he was able to keep that for awhile but I am sure Muka will be pouring ice water on it soon enough! Sigh
This was great VVS, including the mention of Victoria’s hats. We can't get away from Loli. Lol. Thank you!
Susanlynn, I lol’d at “the eviction of Nasty Old Red Riding Hood .yikes Miran was doing a lot of huffing and puffing last night.” And whatever Hazar’s “hotness or notness” was, he was perfect for Dilsah.
I missed that look between Esma and Miran. VVS, you could be right that there’s a plan in place. Didn’t Firat take Miran Reyyan to that house after she jumped off the bridge and he jumped after her? Everyone thought they were dead. And then Rey shot Miran.
Anyway, there’s a big secret between Azize and Esma, it probably has to do with Firat’s adoption. I don’t think he’s Sultana’s son anymore. That’s got to be Harun or the note master.
The shepherd asked Miran, “hakkını helal et” and Miran answered, “sana helal olsun”, so now the slate is clean between them, and the shepherd doesn’t have to carry this into the afterlife.
Count me in on Nasuh not killing Dilsah or Mehmet. So there’s another secret Nasuh is hiding. I mentioned a couple of weeks ago I thought Mehmet could have killed himself after he shot Hazar and Dilsah. Since carmella mentioned it, too, I think that’s not so crazy a thought now.
One more thing, I was thinking while they were reading Kerim's dad's letter. Like father like son....they both seem to be extremely sensitive people capable of expressing their feelings well in writing! And maybe a tad dramatic to boot, lol
Wow! Did you mention that a couple weeks ago dondi356? Maybe that’s where the initial thought was planted in my head!? Either way, the truth will come to light eventually…….
In Hazar’s case, the shock of that possibility could it be why he doesn’t remember yet?? Whatever happened was so traumatic that he’s buried it way down deep——- or he just hit his head REALLY hard, lol……
Was it just me, but wasn’t Mehmet a handsome one!? I thought, yeah, he could be Miran’s real father——- if not for Dilsah’s confession in her letter…….
Hey dondi356! I must have missed your comment about Mehmet shooting Hazar and Dilsah, then killing himself. The more I think about it, you and carmella may be on to something. carmella, I thought Mehmet was very handsome as well compared to the troll Sultana was married to.
The house Firat took Miran and Rey to was the vineyard house a bit off the grid. This house was “in town.” I agree, there is definitely a huge loyalty secret shared between Esma and Azize.
The avocados, Tibetan tea and now hats from Loli just seem perfect to add to the Herc comments. 😊
Thank you, dondi356.
Fatmagul should develop a Mukaddes filter: anything she says is converted into jamming noise. Muka doesn't miss an opportunity to cause Fatmagl pain or make her uncomfortable.
Fatmagul's puking after the forced kiss cannot be confused with love even by Mustafa.
It was unwise for Kerim to run where Mustafa called him, but not surprising. Loved Fatmagul taking down Mustafa and holding him down until Kerim can get the gun. She saved his life. Walking away holding hands was very symbolic.
Fatmagul accepted to go on a date with Kerim to the end of the work dinner. Wow! It took some effort to talk her into it but she agreed and seemed to be ok with the idea later when Kerim confirmed if she was coming. I am looking forward to it.
Dear Dondi, wow. I look forward to your recaps every day. You cover every detail and make everything crystal clear , and I enjoy your comments so much .
Kerim reminds me of someone I love very much and have missed for the last three years . Sharing this tale of love , resilience, and forgiveness is healing for me . These characters were shattered and are picking up the pieces ...not easy .
Fatmagul is a maz ing .She can run like the wind , and she jumped on Mustafa with lightening speed and took him down like a boss. She's my new idol.
Kerim now has hope that Fatmagul is starting to trust him. Engin makes you believe this character ... that smile that reaches and shines in those eyes, that hair.
Thanks a million, VVS, for putting together such a wonderful recap. I really appreciate the extra mile work in getting some stuff in that the "great minds" at Telemundo cut out.
I was NOT happy with Yaren's finding out about Reyyan not being Hazar's bio kid. And, I don't see how she can use this to get out of the marriage to Harun. If she goes ahead and tells Reyyan, which it sounds like she's preparing to do, the cat's out of the bag and so is her leverage.
So Harun is getting 5% of the Sadoglu piece of the business for $20 million. I must admit the puppet master's dealings are mysterious to me. Sometimes it seems like he's trying to hurt BOTH families.
I also was surprised and not exactly pleased with Miran's big granny expulsion scene. It's better to keep her around. You want a dangerous snake in sight. And, yes, with all the power she's demonstrated over the household, I'm surprised he could even do it. As someone else mentioned, apparently the presence of testosterone outweighs everything else!
I'm surprised the rest of you think Nasuh didn't kill Mehmet. I believed him and thought that was the thing both he and Yusuf were hinting at when they were discussing some things that Hazar should not know about.
Thanks to my faithful Fatmagul friends. The comments and analysis are greatly appreciated. It's especially nice to read what first time viewers have to say about this excellent show.
Yes, Darcy, at one point, Erdo wanted to have Kerim kill Musto. The other way would work, too. One goes to the grave and the other goes to prison.
Lucio, I need a Mukaddes filter. This character gives me agita. But I do agree with Darcy, that the actress is excellent. I’ve seen her in other dizis. She’s good.
And the scene including Fatma’s takedown of Musto is a memorable one for me.
Meltem is so stooopid.
Susanlynn, Engin made a believer out of me, too.
Date night, but Kristen will be there, too.
Thank you novelera for the great comments and questions. I think Nasuh is just willing to say anything to protect Hazar, even if he is several decades late in doing so. I don’t have a theory to toss into the crockpot regarding that night, but why would he kill Mehmet and not Dilsah? Omer said that all the bullets were the same and most likely came from the same gun. I think there are other secrets Nasuh and Yusuf keep, just like Esma and Azize. Perhaps it is the same secret.
I am not at all happy about Yaren’s discovery. This is not going to go well for Hazar once Reyyan finds out and I have no idea why Yaren thinks she will not have to marry Harun. She is just evil and mean.
I think Nasuh could have lied about killing Mehmet because he might be hiding an even bigger secret. He might have been at the scene but not everything adds up to my liking. Of course, I could be wrong but there's fun in speculation.
And I think he’s lying because he really does believe that Hazar killed Mehmet. I bet by the time he got to the scene, that sly Fox Azize made it look like Hazar killed them both!
But like you dondi356, I’m just speculating….. and it is so much fun to do so!
Hercai2: #24 - p 1 of 4
As the episode begins, Yaren is thinking that she wants to tell Reyyan the truth about her parentage to her face, not over the phone. She remembers when Reyyan slapped her, and she vows that she will now hit Reyyan so hard that she'll fall, and no one will lift her up.
Miran tells Sukran that he doesn't regret kicking Azize out, he just wishes he had done it sooner. The lies she told him caused him to hurt others. Sukran tells him he didn't do anything terrible, he didn't kill anyone. He tells her one can kill someone without firing a single bullet. Make them wish they were dead. I did that. I hurt innocent people.
Azize looks in the mirror. She tells herself she has to make a plan for when she returns. She'll first get rid of the enemy: Reyyan. She'll then punish "Miran Sadoglu" by making him drown in the truth he'll discover. "I'll ruin you and I won't die until I've seen you kill your father, Hazar Sadoglu, with a bullet from your gun."
ReyMir are having problems. Reyyan tells Miran, "As we discover the truth, we're losing faith in each other."
Cihan thinks back to Nasuh's confession that he killed Mehmet Aslanbey, and he wonders whether Nasuh is really hiding something even more serious.
Harun waits impatiently at night for Hanife outside the Sadoglu konak. He instead runs into Yaren, who was going to confront Reyyan. Harun expresses phony delight, Yaren just wants to leave, but he won't let her. Hanife leaves the konak and catches sight of Harun and Yaren. She wonders where Yaren was going at this hour. Hanife goes back inside the konak, where she immediately encounters Cihan and Nasuh. She tells them she was taking out the garbage when she saw Yaren with Harun. They immediately go to find her.
We next see Yaren in her room, looking out the window at a group of Sadoglu along with Harun discussing the shameful situation. "Only a wedding can fix this," proclaims Nasuh. They ask Harun what he was doing with Yaren at such an hour. The ever-resourceful Harun takes out a ring. "I didn't have a chance to propose. I wanted to make her happy." Nasuh decides there's no other solution--there must be a wedding. And Yaren will not be allowed to leave her room until the wedding.
Reyyan also sits by a window, looking unhappy. She goes to bed alone. Miran comes in, lies next to her. Their song plays. He hesitates to touch her, then turns away. He too looks unhappy. The two then think the words they should be saying to each other, but they don't voice these words. They turn away from each other. Daytime comes, and we see them asleep, facing each other. They wake up. Reyyan says "Buenas días." He says "What I did to you wound up killing me. Let's hope today is better than yesterday. I'm tired of thinking everything is getting better, tired of playing my abuela's games. You're so kind, so understanding, it hurts me." Reyyan replies, "I couldn't treat you any other way." [Hmm...she could try slapping him? Leaving him? Finding someone who doesn't spend most of his time feeling sorry for himself and yelling at others?]
Sultana yells, "Familia Aslanbey!" People emerge to see what she wants. She expresses delight that things will finally be as she wants them. She announces that they will go to the Sadoglus with the dowry for Elif. Miran doesn't think it's the right time to go there, but Reyyan and Gonul think Sultana is right. However, Gonul can't go; she has to go to work. Miran congratulates her. Sultana then invites everyone to have breakfast. But not just any breakfast. Sultana has arranged a beautiful feast and introduces the Aslanbey's new maid, Asiye. Asiye is pleasant to everyone. She tells Sultana that her orders have been carried out. Miran is suspicious that Asiye may turn out to be a spy, like Sehriyah.
Hercai2: #24 - p 2 of 4
Hanife brings breakfast to Yaren in her room. Yaren tells her to bring her a decent breakfast, and tell her abuelo to come see her. Hanife hesitates. "Just do it!" orders Yaren, adding "One night I'll sneak up and cut out your tongue. You're a maid. Act like one!"
Azize is in an office at the company. She has called a private meeting with several men she sees as allies. [Presumably they are board members, but I thought the board consisted almost entirely of Sadoglu and Aslanbey family members.] She claims that the company's rules are null and void, and she is President. She tells the men, "You will follow my orders. Nothing gets done without my approval." Her first item of business is ousting the Sadoglu from the company. Gonul comes in. Azize tells her this is a private meeting. Gonul leaves. Azize instructs the men that from now on, they will come speak with her without telling anyone else, including Firat.
Meanwhile, Firat is thinking about Esma's leaving and about Yaren's call. Gonul comes to see him. He asks her why she voted for Azat. "Did you think Azize would do nothing?" he asks. He continues, "Did you ever consider that your abuela was lying to you about your brother? Don't put much hope into finding your brother. I say this advice as a brother."
Nasuh comes to see Yaren. He tells her he is not her abuelo. "In 3 days you'll be leaving, and you won't be allowed to return while I'm alive." Yaren asks whether he will now look with favor on Reyyan. Nasuh replies, "Reyyan never disgraced us. And what cursed her family wasn't her fault, it was yours." He starts to leave, but Yaren stops him by demanding, "You're going to cancel the wedding and get rid of Harun." Nasuh is outraged. He grabs Yaren by the neck. "I could kill you, you brat!" [I plead, "Do it! Do it!"] Yaren threatens, "I'll tell Reyyan she's not a real Sadoglu, not her father's daughter, just a dirty step-daughter (sucia hijastra)!"
Harun is walking in the street, talking on the phone. He fills the other person in on where things stand. We'll set a date for the wedding, get blood tests, etc. He thinks to himself, "I hope Yaren has some disease that will make her ineligible, so I'll finally be free."
The Aslanbey arrive at the Sadoglu konak. Seven men carry in the wrapped items for the dowry. Sultana is dressed extravagantly. Handan observes, "This is not a runway show in Paris. We don't dress that way in Midyat." Sultana tells her, "We love Elif and would like to see her more, and with Azize gone, we expect to do so." Handan replies, "You mean, until Azize returns." People notice that Yaren isn't present and they ask where she is. They're told she's sick in her room. However, Gul pipes up, "No, Yaren isn't sick." Handan looks at her with shocked wide eyes. "What's wrong with your eyes?" Gul asks. She lets people know that Grandpa locked Yaren in her room because she misbehaved. Sultana asks Handan about Harun. What is he like? What does he do? Where are his parents from? Handan almost chokes on her food. She finally replies, "He's like a Greek god."
Azat tells Gonul that he's not surprised at Azize's actions. After being expelled from her house, she must be desperate. He is sure that her meeting is to find a way to get rid of the Sadoglu. However, "she's not dealing with a small nonentity. We're well known and respected. I spoke to the bank. The money has been approved."
Hercai2: #24 - p 3 of 4
Miran arrives. Azat tells him Azize is here, she's holding a private meeting and giving instructions. Gonul tells him that Azize is holding a private meeting in her office with managers and members of the board. They mentioned something about $20 million. Miran seems puzzled. Azat tells him, "You don't know, but Miran Aksoy does. When my father and uncle confided in him, they signed a contract and gave him Reyyan, remember? That contract included a cash flow guarantee. Azize says we have to come up with $20 million now or she'll remove us from the company. Miran goes to confront Azize. "What do you mean by this? What are you up to now?" She tells him he's confused, and that the company is hers. She makes the decisions. Miran replies, "You can't touch anything without damaging it. If you ever touch Reyyan..." "What?" asks Azize. "I'll be in the way," replies Miran.
Azat calls the bank to find out when they can expect the money. "What? What do you mean, it's been rejected!" Azize is pleased.
Cihan meets with Harun about the deal Harun had offered. He makes a call and tells Cihan everything has been approved. An astonished Cihan asks how Harun could arrange this so quickly. Harun replies, "I may be a romantic fool, but I'm also a businessman." Azat arrives. Cihan tells him about the deal with Harun. Azat is not pleased. He's Board President, and no one told him. "What can we do?" asks Cihan. "If you have a better idea, tell us." Azat says nothing. Cihan again says they've made a deal with Harun, who will supply the $20 million. He hands the papers to Harun, who reads the contract and signs, while thinking, "They're so intelligent." It's not clear whether he's sincere or sarcastic. Cihan also signs. I may be mistaken, but it didn't look as if Azat signed. Cihan warns Harun that if anything like last night (with Yaren) happens again, he'll have a big problem. Harun shakes hands with Cihan but not with Azat and leaves.
Miran comes to the Sadoglu konak and tells Gul "I love you, Sra. Gul." Gul replies, "You don't love anyone. You're like the woman with dark eyes." Miran is devastated. Reyyan tells him to let her father talk to Gul. Hazar comes to see a crying Gul. He tells her that people who love each other sometimes yell at each other. She responds, "I don't want to grow up." Hazar assures her that Miran loves her a lot.
ReyMir bring Sukran to her home. Reyyan accompanies her to the door. Miran stays near the car. Reyyan asks why he brought them here if he's not going to join them. Miran clearly has issues. I can't sort out which ones are bothering him at that moment. Then again, he always seems to have issues. I'm getting rather tired of his endless angst. Reyyan and he have one of their all-too-frequent talks. FF>> At the end of this, Miran says "I don't know how to get out of this situation." Just then, a car drives up. It's Hazar and Gul. [How did Hazar know where they were and how to get there?] Gul tells Miran, "I was sad. But if you promise not to yell, I'd like to make up with you." "I promise." They hug. Sukran insists that everyone come inside and have tea. Gul likes Sukran's house.
Hercai2: #24 - p 4 of 4
Sultana is riding in a car. She asks the driver why they are going this way. The driver looks unfriendly. She realizes he's not taking her where she wants to go. He takes her to a waiting Azize. Azize tells Sultana, "You've always wanted to be the lady of the mansion. I'll let you be that for a while." Sultana responds, but Azize has the upper hand. She promises to return, and when she does, Sultana will be first on her list. She reminds Sultana about Republic Day, when a child is chosen to sit in the President's seat. Azize says, "You're like one of those children, except those children have the hope of taking the seat again, but you don't have that hope. Enjoy this moment while you can." And on that note, the episode ends.
Thank you Juanita! Excellent recap! Love your take on what Reyyan should do to Miran! Lol! She already tried slapping him, but it only shook him out of his misery for 1/2 a second, lol, and ITA that she should leave his whining azz——- something I believe is coming because he won’t give her any choice! I wonder if Miran means “misery” in Turkish??? Cause he’s about one miserable, crying, whiny, loud piece of work! He can’t do anything quietly, but otoh, he does want to run away, but Reyyan won’t let him, haha! He is trying to run and crawl in a corner somewhere cause he can’t see anything beyond his selfish self.
Vaya, vaya, vaya! Look at Madame Sultana! Queen Bee for the moment and loving every minute of it! In all honesty though, she did brighten up things a bit, including herself! I’ve never seen Sultana look so pretty and vibrant! The dark cloud that was Azize has been lifted over the konak! But don't get it twisted Sultana, Azize is still in control! Sultana should really take a page from Gonul’s book and find her own independence. Waiting for Azize to be fully dethroned and living under her threats is tiresome, and let’s face it, redundant and boring as all heck! Tell Azize to kiss where you sit Sultana and keep it moving!
Why, oh why didn't Nasuh choke Yaren until she passed out! Abusing that crazy witch only adds to her —— in her mind—— super powers! She gets off on it, and just rubbed her neck off, like it was nothing after Nasuh finished. Yaren will never stop! No one and nothing can make her either. This is why I’m of the camp that Yaren won’t be redeemed. She can’t be! Even faced with her own horrible deeds and rottenness, she knows who and what she is. “ Rotten to the core from the door!” At least Azize stared out good, if she is indeed Ayse——- and she will find herself again, once she learns the whole truth, imho.
“Gul the jewel,” always adding sunshine wherever she goes! I just love her!
I think it was dead wrong of Cihan going behind Azat’s back and making a deal with Harun. Both Cihan and Handan need to stop treating him like their baby. How emasculating of Cihan to do that! And right in front of Harun! I do see a Gonul/ Azat pairing on the horizon though. I don’t know how, or how this will affect Elif and all, but it’s coming. Plus I believe that when season 1 ended, the bride walking in the water is Elif——- sorry, cause I hope not, and I really like Elif.
And two thumbs up for Firat! Is he the only one who recognizes that Azize will lie about anything!! Gonul doesn't think she would lie about her brother, and deep down in Miran-land, I know he’s hoping she will reveal some new info and be his very own personal “abuela” again! Bursting into her office and demanding the truth from her is like peeing in the ocean. Stop Miran! Stop Gonul! The truth is not in her!
Thanks again Juanita! So much happening and to say!
HALIMACANDY: You're watching this Telenovela ? I see Sofia Castro is in this one.
Steve Boudreaux
Wonderful recap Juanita! You covered several things that I must have not heard. I appreciate the conversation recaps and was fine with the FF of the repeated ReyMir chats off the ledge. I noticed that the Azize mirror scene was at least in this episode and not cut out.
Me-ran is definitely getting a bit annoying. Thank goodness Gul was able to provide some light in that darkness. I thought Hazar did a nice job explaining to her why Miran was always angry and yelling.
I was pleasantly surprised that Yaren didn’t get to Reyyan immediately. I am sure it is coming. "I could kill you, you brat!" [I plead, "Do it! Do it!"]. I was cheering right there with you Juanita. GT keeps locking her in the bedroom, did anyone think to reinforce that lock and maybe put a guard at the door?
Seems Cihan is thinking the same thing as some of us on the patio about Nasuh not killing Mehmet.
Azize is something else stopping that line of credit approval. What I didn’t understand was why Cihan didn’t include Azat in his “plan B” right away. Did he want to play family hero?
Wow, Sultana was on a roll last night. She seemed to find a new housekeeper pretty quickly (maybe sent by the note master?). She needs to find a new driver too.
carmella, you are too funny, “Miran-land,” until he finds out the real truth, he is just that lost, orphaned kid who has been brain-washed by the best.
Thank you Juanita. I know these 2 hour episodes are hard to recap, but we are sure moving along in the storyline!
Juanita, thanks for providing us with a clear, detailed description of everything that happened.
" Mirrir, mirror on the wall..... " Azz is looking more and more like the Evil Queen who wants her huntsman to hand her Snow White's heart in a little box. Ugh
Sultana was so reveling in her sudden power in her power shawl. o
tradition of all those dowry items in White paper tied with red ribbons .
Love Goodgran and her scenes with anyone but especially sweet Gul ,like child .
Hahaha VVS! Sultana definitely needs to find herself a new driver! Or carry pepper spray or something…….Azize’s henchman are a loyal bunch aren’t they! Great comparison Susanlynn to Azize being the evil queen in Snow White cause Reyyan looks like the Snow White type, but with attitude and more spunk!
Wait till Miran finds out that Azize knew that Reyyan wasn’t Hazar’s biological child in the first place! He’ll probably dig a hole and bury himself in it! Of course after he sharpens the stake and runs it through his own heart, lol……such a crybaby!
Gul tells Miran " You don't love anyone. " ouch. Out of this mouths of babes, right! I wonder what it means when she told him, " You're like a woman with dark eyes. " hmmmm. I have dark eyes. Should I be offended ? It didn't sound like a compliment.
Many thanks Carmella, VVS, and Susanlynn, for your terrific comments.
Carmella, I loved your question about whether "Miran" means "misery" in Turkish! As you can probably tell, I totally agree with your description: he's "one miserable, crying, whiny, loud piece of work!" As for Gul, I'm not always a fan (she at times seems too screechy and whiny and, frankly, spoiled), but, as you say, she was certainly a jewel in this episode. And, OMG, I had completely forgotten that season 1 ended with a bride walking into the water. Elif does, alas, come to mind. I guess it's too much to hope that it's Yaren.
VVS, I was happy to see that the mirror scene you reported hadn't been cut by Telemundo, just moved. I'm glad you too were unclear about why Cihan hadn't included Azat in his "Plan B" with Harun. As I was writing the recap, I feared perhaps I had forgotten something about that, but if you too find it puzzling, I feel reassured. :-) You notice so much that I miss. Your suggestion that Cihan simply wants to be the family hero fits well with much else that we've seen. And your suggestion that Ayise may have been sent by the note master seems very plausible. And yes, Sultana needs to find a new driver, too!
Susanlynn, yes, Azize is definitely looking like the Evil Queen. And I loved your suggestion that "Endless Angst" could have been the title of this dizi! As for your question about "the woman with dark eyes," that's the way Gul has been referring lately to Azize. So no, you (and I) don't have to take Gul's statement personally. :-)
Never saw Gul from your perspective Juanita…..always just thought of her as a kid with kid ways, lol. But now that you mention it——she is Miran’s sister after all! What’s Miran’s excuse! Lol
And I agree VVS——- Cihan sees his chance to finally be top dog! Hope he doesn’t screw it up! Funny thing is, Hazar is such an unassuming, humble kind of guy. Not the type a little brother should envy but admire. This is all Nasuh’s fault…….
DONDI;..YES ...Moron HUFFS AND PUFFS…OMG !!..Do you really think Esma is -in-on-if. Hope so!!

I bet even money it was Azize who scuttled the bank deal..
Back to Sukran’s house. Reyyan is in denial too; this man has been programmed and needs help or prayer or both.. his entire world has to be deconstructed/ reconstructed. Reyyan chill-out. Give him space.
YES...LAST SCENE WAS A CLIFF HANGER...Sultana! Hang in there. You got money..next time ,after shopping for diamonds. buy a friggin gun!!
Thanks so much for the terrific recap, Juanita. I'm sorry you had to put up with recapping the weird behavior of Miran. You'd think that his finding out about Azize's lies and booting her out of the konak would have cheered him up. But no. Now he's moaning and groaning about the terrible way he treated her. He never brought that up during the several weeks of episodes where he was trying to win her over. The only explanation I have for his behavior last night is the eternal mission of telenovela/dizi writers to keep the protagonists from a happily ever after until the last, or second to the last, episode! Reyyan needs to tell him to shape up or ship out!
Anything to do with the business dealings in this dizi is massively confusing. I agree that I only saw one board member (cowed by Azize) who was not a member of one or another of the two families during that vote. So who the heck were those 3 or 4 guys she was busy emasculating?
I hope we find out tonight what Nasuh is going to do about Yaren's threat. We just saw him on the upper level of his house, brooding. Of course we in Viewerville have said for months that her parents should have told Reyyan. IIRC first Zehra and then Hazar refused to do so after the other person wanted to tell her.
I just adore Gul and her behavior never annoys me. The scene of her forgiving Miran was very cute. And I also enjoyed her remarking that Sukran's house reminded her of one in a fairy tale. She might have even said the name of one I recognized, but I've forgotten it. I noticed she also brought "Serafina" to Sukran's house. They love to keep teasing us with someone finding the letter inside, don't they?
Absolutely HALIMACANDY…… Miran needs serious deprogramming and reprogramming! He also needs to man up and say “Yeah, I messed up—— messed up bad, but I’m gonna make sure to do right by you Reyyan, moving forward!” Instead all we get is Wah, wah, wah!!! He needs mental intervention—— the couch kind!
Novelera I’m with you on the business dealings! I’m confused. Not sure if this is a partnership, a takeover, or if Azat is a boss of half and Azize is the boss of the other half? Does Firat have control of the money? Or does Azize? And if all it took was $20 million to take control of the company, why didn’t Azize play that card when they were voting? I’ve never addressed this subject caused I am CONFUSED!
novelera, adorable Gul thought Good Grannie's house was like the 7 Dwarfs.
carmella, I think the 20 million bucks was part of the cash flow requirements in the original contract not anything to do with ownership. My understanding is they own the company 50/50. I don't understand how the contract can be valid if Miran signed as Miran Atsoy and not Aslanbey and I have no idea who Azize was conspiring with in that secret meeting.
I have dark eyes too but won't be insulted by Gul's comment regarding Azize. Did anyone notice Nasuh watching Sultana with interest as she stood in his courtyard supervising the delivery of the dowry? It wouldn't be a bad match, just saying...lol
Thanks for the clarification VVS. So if Miran signed the original contract fraudulently, it’s null and void. How come the Sadoglus didn’t pick up on this bit info?
I didn’t notice Nasuh checking out Sultana…….only his sulking, brooding mood…..hmmm…..any interest in Sultana from Nasuh would really FREAK Azize out! Lol……
And thank you HALIMACANDY for the Turkish cultural lessons….very interesting….
Many thanks, Halimacandy and novelera, for your thought-provoking comments.
Halimacandy, I loved your remark about Ms.Gul spilling-the-tea. And I think you're right about Azize being responsible for scuttling the bank loan that Azat apparently had at first succeeded in getting. That woman certainly knows how to get what she wants. We've seen it over and over again.
Novelera, I was relieved to know that you too found the business dealings confusing. I didn't know what to make of all those board members who were meeting with Azize, nor what power she actually has, nor whether a contract signed by "Miran Aksoy" is even valid (as VVS has also noted), nor whether the contract that Cihan has drawn up for Harun to sign will help or hinder the Sadoglu efforts. Perhaps some of this will become clearer tonight. Perhaps.
Thanks, Juanita, for another great recap. I enjoyed it more than the show because there’s no audio to hear Me-ran.
Sultana was great again. Will place my bet that Asiye working with the note master. I also suspect Sultana was clued into something when she was at the manicomio.
Had to laugh at Gonul when Firat said, did you consider abuela lied? Duh!
Nice… Cihan is in on our crockpot theory.
I enjoy those barbs that Hanife and Yaren throw at each other.
Carmella, LOL, this: “He’ll probably dig a hole and bury himself in it! Of course after he sharpens the stake and runs it through his own heart, lol……such a crybaby!”
Fatma and Meryem are in the doctor’s waiting room. Fatma is very nervous. We see her wipe her palms on her dress. Before she goes in, Meryem says don’t be afraid. I’ll be waiting here.
The therapist greets Fatma and asks her to sit. She says what we discuss here is only for us. I won’t ask you why you want help, I want to get to know you and listen to you story first. Can you introduce yourself?
I am Fatmagul, I am 20 years old. Are you married, the therapist asks? Fatma starts to cry. The therapist pushes a box of tissues to her.
Muka is in Meryem’s room. She takes down Fahrettin’s address of his letter. Rahmi is outside and she locks the back door to do some dirty work. She writes a letter: [Turkish] Dear Fahrettin Bey, I am Mukaddes Ketenci, the yenge of your son’s wife. I obtained the letter you wrote Kerim by coincidence. Your words have struck me. And because I knew he wouldn’t write back, I felt I had to send this letter to you.
Fatma tells the therapist, before I sleep all I can think about is that horrible night. I can’t avoid it. When I open my eyes, I also remember. She cries. I’ll never be able to forget it. Sometimes I don’t sleep so I won’t have nightmares. The therapist asks if she uses sleeping pills. No. It’s always on my mind. It’s sad to know that I will always feel this way. Nothing will ever be the same again. I’m not the same. It hurts so much. I feel sorry for myself to have to live with this.
[Turkish] I try to walk but I feel my legs are crippled. I keep pretending… I am strong…I am durable…I am determined. But actually I’m not. I’m desperate, I’m hopeless, I’m tired. I’m so tired, she sobs. She apologizes to the therapist.
The therapist says not to worry about her. I am interested in your ex-fiancé. Would you like to talk about him? Fatma shakes her head no. Therapist says we can talk about him another day. Talking about him is difficult, Fatma says. It’s like taking about that night. He is a memory of that night. [Turkish] He was the first one to let go of my hand. I was so angry, so full of hate, so hurt. But now, I know I was angry because I trusted the wrong person. I’m not angry at him anymore.
Mustafa waits for Asu outside the hospital. You came back for me? Musto says he never left. He was concerned it took so long. She says she had to rest until she felt better. They get in the car. He asks if she is okay, she is pale. He reaches out, she turns away. She cries. He’s sorry.
Muka seals her letter and tells Rahmi she’s going shopping and tells him to stay home.
Before Muka can go anywhere, a taxi pulls up and Perihan gets out. What are you doing here? What do you want? Do I have to tell you, Perihan replies. Aren’t you afraid to be seen here, Muka asks? You’re lucky no one else is here. Well, Perihan cuts to the chase—how much money do you want? How much money do you want to testify for the defense? Muka says I thought you were a lady, but you deserve your last name. Don’t get rude with me, Perihan counters, I know what kind of person you are. Name your price and end this.
Muka won’t sell out. Perihan laughs, you sold that ring before. Muka says that was under different conditions. She adds they will use the ring in court. Perihan thinks Muka is confused, she doesn’t have the ring. Muka drops the bomb: Meltem gave it back to us. She gave it to Fatma, she’s on our side now. Muka tells her it’s too late now. We don’t need your money. Muka touches the letter in her pocket. [Hmm…]
Resat speaks to Vural. I don’t want to pressure you, Resat says. Vural asks, then why are we talking? I don’t want you to do anything stupid. Look what you have done. You tried to kill yourself. I wasn’t able to, Vural says. Resat says he knows Vural did it to punish his mother. That’s his business. But if you decide to punish yourself, Resat tells him, you’re also punishing Selim and Erdo. It will be hard for you, when you’re out of here they will lock you up like them. You were arrested before for drugs but this time it will be for rape. [but no pressure….] Semsi comes in and says it’s time for Vural to give his testimony.
Meryem and Fatma stop for coffee. Meryem asks Fatma if she feels better. Fatma nods, a little. I felt like I was beaten. I felt tired. My head was going to explode. I heard my own voice. I remember every word I said. Meryem reminds her it’s all in confidence. Fatma says she felt like she waited all her life to talk to someone. I realized things I was hiding from myself. Meryem says, you liked her, you trusted her. Yes, Fatma did. Meryem wants to go shopping.
Fatma brings up the letter again. Meryem says, let’s not talk about that now. Let’s have fun. They decide to get their hair done. Meryem sees a dress in a window and think it would be perfect for Fatma. She talks her into trying it on.
Perihan calls Resat and tells him what Meltem did. Resat says Meltem went crazy. Perihan says it’s revenge. Resat isn’t so worried about the ring. The girl has to back up the story. This is not good.
Vural gives his testimony. There was no incident. It was made up by Kerim. Kerim told me he loved that girl. Vural perpetuates the lie. What a disappointment. I FF’d>> I couldn’t listen to it. Discuss if you like.
Semsi comes out of Vural’s room and gives the news to Resat and Leman. Vural told all…then he says he told that Kerim was lying. A sigh of relief. And Semsi congratulates Resat on getting Vural to save his skin again. Resat gives Perihan the good news.
Kerim waits for Meryem and Fatma. The look on his face when he sees Fatma… like he fell in love with her all over again. Meryem says she has things to do so she’s leaving the two of them. Fatma thanks Meryem for everything and Meryem heads off. A little awkward pause and then Kerim tells Fatma her hair looks beautiful. He asks Fatma how it went at the doctor, then he immediately apologizes when he sees the look on Fatma’s face. She doesn’t want to talk about it.
They decide to do some sightseeing by boat. They see a wedding party get off one of the boats. An uneasy feeling for Fatma. Anyway, the two board another boat. Kerim reaches out his hand to help Fatma, she can do it herself. He does help her when she stumbles slightly. She smiles.
Kadir calls Meryem to tell her about Vural’s testimony. He denied everything. Not good news. They had all hoped Vural would come clean. Kadir wants to call Kerim but Meryem says to hold off for tonight. They went on a date and let’s not ruin it.
Kerim and Fatma are enjoying their ride. Kerim points out things for Fatma. And this… the way he looks at her when she’s not looking. His face tells us everything, how much he loves her, his happiness and his frustration at being close, yet far apart, all in a few seconds. [iyi ki varsın, Engin Akyürek!]
Mustafa peeks in on weepy Asu in her bed. He doesn’t go in or speak to her. He takes his jacket and goes out.
Kerim and Fatma show up for the dinner. Kristen greets them in Turkish. She tells Kerim in English, don’t sit down come right to the barbecue (grill). He speaks in Turkish, she’s trying to push me to the grill right way. Let’s greet everyone first. The intros are made. Someone pours rakı for Kerim. He looks at Fatma. Fatma is asked if she wants some. She doesn’t. But she doesn’t look upset.
Kristen calls Kerim over to the grill. Kerim hands Fatma his coat. A little uneasiness there. There’s talk at the table but Fatma keeps looking over at Kerim and Kristen. A woman asks Fatma if she has children. No. How long have you been married? Less than a year. They start to eat the meze. The woman tells Fatma to eat and to serve some for “Kerim Usta” too.
Before everyone starts. Kristen has a speech prepared. She gives it in Turkish, reading from a paper: We did a great job working together. My wishes are to remain a team with you as long as I work in your country. Thank you to all of you. S“elinize sağlık” which literally means, health to your hand. Used to complement good work. I usually hear this when someone cooks a good meal.
At home, Muka says she knew Vural wasn’t sorry for what he did. It was part of their game. Meryem doesn’t want to hear any more. It’s depressing. Muka says they should go far away. That’s not so easy, Meryem replies. Kerim’s dad did it, Muka says. He lives in Australia, no? Why do you care, Meryem answers. [Turkish] Muka says we could pack up and go there. He keeps writing to his son. He wouldn’t refuse his son. Meryem scoffs, where do you get these ideas?
Muka was just thinking. He’s been living there for years. He must have a good life. He would open his arms to him and help him start a new life. And we would leave all this behind. Meryem warns her never to say this to Kerim. He would be angry.
Meryem goes to her room. Muka has a smug look. Meryem takes the letter under her mattress and rips it up. [too late, Meryem!] Meryem puts it in the trash bag and takes it outside. Muka asks what she is doing. Another smug look from Muka, you’re too late. [that’s what I said!]
One of the guests has brought his saz and the other guests starts singing along. Kristen keeps jealous eyes on Fatma and Kerim. Kerim asks Fatma if she is having a good time. She nods. The song is over and the saz player comments that Fatma and Kerim were not singing. A woman says why don’t you play an Aegean song? (The area Fatma & Kerim come from.) He starts to play. Fatma says this was her father’s favorite song.
I am so happy they kept this scene and song in:
Evlerinin önü Mersin/A Myrtle in Front of Your House
Yes, that’s Beren and Engin singing. Embajador viewers will remember this song from the engagement of Sancar and Nare.
A myrtle in front of your house
My woman, I can’t go against the tide.
Yet, by God, you shall be mine.
Take the dagger, my woman, stab and kill me
Take me home, dear one, and make me a slave
Your presence makes me feel alive
This life, my woman, only you can purify.
Wash your beauty over me.
Take the dagger, my woman, stab and kill me
Take me home, dear one, and make me a slave
The saz player starts the song and then Fatma takes it. Then Kerim sings to Fatma, he doesn’t take his eyes off her. [Oooh, Kristen is burning with jealousy.] The way Fatma and Kerim look at each other during the song is precious. Kerim moves closer to Fatma and puts his arm around her shoulder as the song ends. She does not move away. Everyone applauds, not Kristen.
Cut: at the end of the dinner, drunk Kristen asks Fatma in English if they can drop her at her hotel. Fatma doesn’t understand her. Kristen goes over to Kerim to ask, and we hear her say loudly please, please in Turkish. She grabs his arm. A man asks what’s wrong. Kerim explains that Kristen doesn’t want to take a taxi alone. She asked if we could drop her off, but we are going in the opposite direction. The man says he can drop her off. It’s in Beyolgu, Kristen says. Fatma hears and remembers that’s where they stayed when they first came to Istanbul.
Kristen says this in Turkish so Fatma can understand: Kerim knows this place. He took me there a long time ago when I first came to Istanbul. When—Kerim quickly interrupts, we can take her if it is a problem. No, the man can take her. Before she leaves, Kristen tells Kerim in English to come tomorrow for his payment. Kerim translates that last part for Fatma.
Kerim and Fatma take a cab home. Did you have fun, Kerim asks? Yep. You have a beautiful voice, he says, I was surprised. I learned from my father, he used to sing that song. Fatma says her mother had a beautiful voice. She would sing while cooking, my brother and I would listen.
Mustafa is thinking about Kerim and Fatma again. He’s staying with his parents. His mother checks on him and he pretends to be asleep. Halide and Emin talk about the newspaper article and Musto’s slow descent into hell. I can’t stand these people, so I’m FF’ing. You can discuss.
Meltem is mad at her mother for sticking up for her father. Meltem is thinking of going with Gaye to Milan for a few days. Resat shows up at her house. He asks about the ring. How do you know about that, she asks? He lies, Kerim told me. He used it to bargain. He said Meltem is on our side. He’s stupid, too. He thinks that ring can be evidence. Resat takes a bunch of rings from his pocket. Give them out. If you are not with us, those people will control you. More pressure and threats and planting doubts in Meltem’s empty head. Blah blah blah.
Fatma and Kerim arrive home. Everyone is waiting up and Muka rushes to the door. Everyone asks about the dinner. Kerim mentions the saz and the singing. Muka asks Fatma if she got along with Kristen. Of course, Fatma replies. How could you get along if you don’t speak English, Muka asks? Kerim says Kristen knows some Turkish, too.
Muka spoils the evening by mentioning Vural gave his testimony. Meryem gets upset. Muka says now she won’t tell them. Fatma can guess that Vural denied everything. Muka blames it on the Yasarans.
Cut: Fatma loses hope. Kerim does not. He wants to call Kadir. Meryem says to wait until morning. Let’s go make tea in the kitchen. Fatma and Kerim get up. Meryem turns to Muka, you couldn’t keep your mouth shut. Muka says she did Meryem a favor so she wouldn’t have to tell them in the morning. You should thank me. [this woman is an abomination]
Munir surprises Vural. Vural is upset and wants Munir to leave. Munir wants to prepare him for the trial. He needs to know about the car accident, did you go to their house? Tell me everything.
Erdo gets into a scuffle in the cell. Erdo blames Kerim and Fatma again. FF>> Even Selim doesn’t want to hear it.
Meltem calls Mustafa again. [This girl gets dumber and dumber with each episode.] At least Musto doesn’t answer.
Meryem, Kerim and Fatma have their tea in the kitchen. Kerim needs the truck tomorrow to meet with Kristen about his payment. [notice look from Fatma] Fatma asks if he is going to the mansion. Probably not because the work there is finished. And what do you know, Kerim gets a call from Kristen. Fatma says, [Turkish] just when we were talking about her. She must be a good person.
Kerim starts to head for the door, but then decides to stay in the kitchen to talk. Kerim [bad English], no I wasn’t sleeping. What? There’s too much noise. No, no Kristen, we are at home and it’s too far. We can’t come. No, please, don’t insist. We are about to go to bed and I think you should go to your room. Okay. We will talk tomorrow, good night.
Meryem asks what that was about. Kerim says she (Kristen) had a bit much to drink tonight. Fatma puts it bluntly, she got drunk. Kerim says she is at a party near her hotel. She wanted us to join her. Meryem says she’s crazy. Meryem asks, where is her hotel? Before Kerim can answer, Fatma pipes up, it’s in Beyoglu. Where we first stayed when we came to Istanbul. She and Kerim stayed there before, too. That’s a surprise to Meryem. [Uh, oh, Kerim….]
Cut: Kerim says she is staying there because of the convenient location. And on that note, Fatma leaves the room. Kerim has a look like he blew it again. Meryem questions him, look at me Kerim. What’s going on? Why is she calling you in the middle of the night? I thought you were just friends. We are just friends, Kerim replies.
Meryem continues, Fatmagul sensed something. Did that woman say something to hurt Fatmagul? Kerim answers, do you think I’d let her? You said it was over between you, Meryem says, but she hasn’t gotten over it. Kerim excuses it because Kristen was drunk. She surprised me tonight, he says, but… Meryem warns him not to do anything stupid or he will have to deal with her.
Fatma is getting ready for bed and maybe she hears the hushed voices in the kitchen.
Meryem continues warning Kerim. Be careful. Keep your distance. Don’t do anything to upset Fatmagul. Ok, don’t worry, Kerim replies, trust me. Meryem goes to her room. Kerim starts to leave then thinks twice. He goes to see Fatma, who is starting to take off her dress. Oops…
Kerim starts nervously, Fatmagul…listen…you shouldn’t have any doubts about Kristen. Like what, she asks? Well...like if you think there is something between us. She says she doesn’t care. [is Kerim bothered by that?] Listen, he says, I’m not going to lie to you. There was something between us some time ago. But it wasn’t anything serious and it is over. We are friends. That means there will not be anything between us again.
Why are you giving me this explanation, Fatma asks. Kerim replies, because you are my wife. Because I love you. Because of that, I feel I owe you an explanation. Fatma plays it cool. Don’t be sorry, she says, it’s really not important. I wasn’t mad. There wasn’t a need for an explanation. Now I’m going to bed. Good night. [Look at the smile on Fatma’s face.]
It’s a nice morning and Meryem and Fatma set up breakfast in the yard. Rahmi takes Murat to school and Muka heads to the table. They talk about Fatma’s exams coming up soon. She should study now then she can find another job.
Fatma wants to pass by the school where she will take the exam. Kerim says he will take her. Fatma says he has work. Kerim says Kristen hasn’t called him yet. Kerim proposes that they go to the school and if Kristen calls she can go with him. Fatma gives reasons not to go. Kerim tries hard to talk her into going. If they have time, they can do more sightseeing. Meryem thinks it’s a good idea. Muka the spoilsport says Fatma should come home and study. This goes around and around for a while but finally Fatma agrees to go with Kerim.
Ugh, the Yasarans. Perihan has an update. Munir spoke with Vural. Vural told him he spoke with Kerim that day. They were seen by the girl and that’s why Vural and Kerim had an argument. Kerim blamed Vural for everything. Resat thinks that’s good. Kerim’s phone call will show in the records. Munir will say it was a threatening call, Perihan says. Leman and Semsi will say they witnessed. The press is gathered around the house. Enough, FF>>
Munir goes to see Asu. She is reluctant to let him in. He wants her help with Fatmagul’s case. She says she doesn’t care, she doesn't even want to hear her name. Munir sticks his foot in the door and tells her she is an important witness. I have an offer you can’t refuse, he tells her [where have we heard that one before?]
Mustafa gets ready for work. His parents want to talk. His father shows him the article. I want to hear it from your own lips. Musto says he will be late. Emin asks are these the men who raped Famagul? You knew Mustafa? Mustafa raises his voice, what are you saying? I won’t answer! Musto tries to leave but his father grabs him by the collar. Emin shouts, you are in with them, they bribed you. They filled your pockets with money so you wouldn’t talk! You have disgraced yourself like this?!
Why do you care, Musto shouts. You are the ones who stopped me first. You told me, “turn your back and leave her. Don’t become a murderer”. You put me against Fatmagul! You said she was no good for me. You were the ones who broke us up! Say it!
[Turkish] Why didn’t you tell me to help that poor girl then? What are you blaming me for now? I’m a lowlife either way. Go to the police and tell them! Tell them your son sold his honor. Tell them your son is in with criminals. Mustafa goes on and on. Instead of telling me I should support Fatmagul… instead of giving me guidance… you told me to start a new life. It is you who ruined my life. Mustafa finally leaves. Halide cries.
Kadir talks to Omer about the missing doctor. He’s been staking out Mustafa. He follows him.
Kerim takes Fatma to the school. She’s excited and nervous. Kerim is sure she will do well on her exams.
Kerim gets the call from Kristen. Kerim: what’s the matter? Kristen, she’s out of the shower in a robe: oh, I drank too much last night. My head hurts, I feel terrible. I’m still in bed. I don’t think I can go anywhere today. Ke: ok we can meet tomorrow then. Kr: tomorrow I might be busy. I really want to figure this out today. Can you come to the hotel? Alright, we can come. Fatmagul and I had something to do, but.. we’re free now. Traffic on the bridge should be heavy right now. But we can be there in one and a half hours at most. Kr: is she coming, too? Ke: yes. We are together. I said so.
Kristen is very disappointed. She says, there’s no reason for you to come all the way out here [she left out: since you won’t hop into bed with me]. I can transfer your money over the internet. Ke: that would be nice. Kr: actually there’s something else I wanted to talk to you about but anyway… we can talk later. Ke: okay. Kr: I’ll transfer your money right away. It should be in your account in a bit. Ke: thank you very much. Bye.
Cut: Kerim gets in the car and tells Fatma the good news. Kristen will send the money over the internet. Fatma says, did she change her mind after hearing we are together? Why do you think that, he asks? You said, “Fatmagul”, “we’re coming” I understood, she says. Kerim says it was because Kristen had a hangover and doesn’t want to leave the hotel. Whatever, Fatma replies, it’s not my business. Kerim says now they will have more time for sightseeing.
Munir has a briefcase full Turkish lira. This is just an advance, you will get the rest after court. No more problems for the rest of your life. I’m not asking you to lie. You have to say that Fatmagul stayed with you when she ran away from home. That’s it. They won’t be able to deny it. What are you afraid of? Asu says Mustafa doesn’t know that Fatma stayed with me.
Munir asks, you’re afraid of Mustafa, that’s all? He laughs. You think Mustafa will stay with you forever? He’s here today, gone tomorrow. Asu thinks back to Mustafa saying don’t count on me. Asu agrees to the deal.
Kadir walks up to Mustafa in the street. Mustafa remembers him from Izmir. Kadir introduces himself as Fatma’s lawyer. Are you going to the bank to count your money, Kadir snarks. If you want to forgive yourself before it’s too late…call me. He hands Musto his card. He reminds Musto that he will have to take an oath in court. The oath is one thing, but will you be able to lie as you look into Fatmagul’s eyes? Musto gets in his car and drives off.
Kerim and Fatma have a nice time in the city. They sit at an outdoor café. Kerim says today they only saw one of the seven hills of Istanbul. Fatma asks if he’s seen all of them. Not all. He asks if she wants to see anymore. It’s late she says, maybe some other time. Kerim says, I’ll take you everywhere. No complaint from Fatma.
She asks him, what would you have liked to do? If nothing had happened, what plans did you have for the future? I don’t know, he replies, I would have stayed in town. I don’t know. She asks, what if you had gone abroad? Would you have gone with Kristen? Kerim says, I stayed in contact with her but I didn’t have the intention of going to anyone. I might have called her. You would have done it, Fatma says, I changed your life, too.
What if we never met, she says. What if we met in a different way, he replies, I often think about that. I often wish we met in a different way. When I first saw you…I mean for the second time… we met on the stairs. You looked at me for a second, then changed your gaze. [Turkish] When your eyes met mine, I thought to myself, “ I should follow those eyes.” Until I saw you had a boyfriend.
Fatma says she doesn’t want to talk about that night at all. You’re right, Kerim tells her, I’m sorry. We don’t have a happy meeting story, she says. It only hurts to talk about it. Kerim says we need time. You will see…we will have many beautiful memories and all the bad ones will be forgotten. I promise you.
And we are out.
Thank you Dondi for another amazing recap! I love this show!
I laughed out loud at: 'I don’t want to pressure you, Resat says. Vural asks, then why are we talking?' LOL excellent point!
Muka once again proving she's a horrible person, throwing Meltem under the bus without so much as a hesitation. And Perihan begging and pleading to get her guilty son freed at the expense of his victim is just beyond words. I would like to believe no one would do that in real life but I am sure it happens all the time.
Fatma looked beautiful for her date and she sings wonderful too. So Kristen already knows Kerim is very much in love with Fatma because she already asked and he told her, plus she sees the way he is looking at her at that dinner and she still thinks she can try to get him??? Just being drunk doesn't explain it she's delusional!!
You can really see Fatma is getting more comfortable with Kerim. Even when he walked in the door as she was about to take her dress off she didn't seem uncomfortable or startled. She's still not ready to admit she cares about Kristen but yeah that smile after he left after giving her the explanation she didn't need...lol said a lot. Interesting that she is even upset (?) about Kerim taking her to the same hotel where he took Kristen when they first got to the city. I wouldn't think she would be thinking about that particular detail since I am sure she doesn't want to remember the beginning days of their marriage.
Speaking of having bad memories of the beginning I think they can salvage some of them. If they survive and live happily ever after the whole story of 'remember the time I tried to stab you in your sleep after you took me to the same hotel you took your ex to' might be funny eventually...then again maybe I am not normal. Lol
Resat is a snake but I kinda liked the whole pocket full of rings trick, it was a good detail on the part of the writers. Meltem really is stupid and into Mustafa?? She has horrible taste in men!!!
Mustafa has gone from blaming Fatma to blaming his parents.... someone get that grown man a mirror! Kadir's question is a good one, will Mustafa be able to look Fatma in the eye and lie??
Asu newest victim of Munir's manipulation...sad but not surprising.

Part 1
We start inside the small shack that is Sukran’s home. An inquisitive Gul is with Miran in his mother’s old room. He patiently answers her questions and attempts to play a cassette for her. Reyan is asked to join them. When she does, Hazar is left alone with Good Granny (GG). He looks around the room wistfully thinking of Dilsah as GG recalls an old memory of her. He appears to see Dilsah in action as GG narrates. It’s a story of Dilsah happily preparing breakfast for GG and in that moment, GG was certain her daughter was in love…with you …she says to Hazar. They both are left in tears of what could have been.
Miran chooses a tape and demonstrates to Gul how to use the old tape player, expecting music that he and Reyan can dance to per Gul’s request. He’s still struggling to look at Reyan and Gul senses something is wrong. They try to convince her that nothing its wrong…it’s just not the right time for dancing. She insists, bringing their hands together and playing the tape. ReyMir hesitantly dance, Miran is still struggling but tries to engage. Just as he does…the music is interrupted by a voice … Apparently Dislah and a friend recorded over the tape (by mistake we learn later). They are all in shock….and even Hazar enters the room upon hearing Dilsah’s voice. GG takes a seat as well. The recording appears to be that of Dilsah and a friend/Aila: In the tape, Aila is encouraging Dilsah to go to Nasuh for help or get word to Hazar. Even though she’s afraid of the Asses… Dilsah doesn’t want Hazar to have problems with the military or the Asses so she won’t get him involved. In the tape she reveals she doesn’t know anything about the Assess …Mehmed or their connections. We learn that they tried to avoid the Asses but were threatened by Azize. Sukran cries continues. Dilsah told Azize from the beginning she was in love with Hazar but it fell on deaf ears. Miran tears flow as well during this revelation. The friends are convo is interrupted when Sukran interred the room hearing their voices. This is when Aila realized she pushed the wrong button and the tape was recording instead of playing music. The convo ended…music starts.
The Dilsah/Aila’s convo has ended and in the present, the adults are all shaken and Gul wants to know what’s going on. Reyan goes to help GG while Hazar tends to Gul. Miran rewinds the tape to hear his mother’s voice again. Miran is distraught…he gets a hug from Gul. Sukran cries that Dilsah suffered alone while Miran stares at the pic of his mother and Hazar laments he wasn’t able to defend his love, blaming himself. Sukran corrects him …it was Azize’s fault…the Asses killed your mother she says to Miran. They took Dilsah by force. We then get a flashback of Mehmet dragging Dilsah out the door while Sukran is begging Azize not to do it. Mother and daughter are distraught and in tears as Azize smugly walks to her car behind her brutish son.
Back in the present…Miran finally has proof that his mother and Hazar were in love but Azize forced them apart. Father and son are both pained by the revelation. They all leave the shack and as Miran looks back one last time, he appears to see Dilsah waving bye…so does Hazar.
In her own home, Esma is tending to Azize as she confirms she has not been able to communicate with Firat. Azize receives a call from someone who reports that the Sadoglus have raised money by selling part of their company stock to Harun. She doesn’t really know him so she orders to caller to investigate him and his family…something we know Firat is already doing.

Part 2
The Sadoglus update their women regarding the business dealings. Harun has been very helpful . Handan assumes they’ve got Azize on the ropes and they’re out of the woods with her and the wedding. But Azat reminds them if they had a better understanding of the contract in the beginning they would have never been in financial straits or been forced to take on another partner. While this convo takes place, Yaren is looking pretty pleased with herself….giving Nasuf a knowing eye regarding their prior convo. He looks uncomfortable.
Harun comes in and is greeted by everyone so Yaren take the opportunity to as Nasuf why he hasn’t piped in about the new arrangement…giving him a veiled threat. Harun asks to take Yaren on a date and to plan for the wedding. Nasuf stands up and to Yaren’s delight announces that the wedding has been cancelled. Everyone is surprised…Handan wants to know why…the papers are in order. Nasuf says it’s because he doesn’t trust Harun and marches off.
ReyMir and family return Gul and Hazar to their home…promising to spend more time with Gul soon. Before they can finish their goodbye’s they hear the shouts of Nasuf and Cihan regarding the wedding. Cihan needs an explanation and is tired of Nasuf making decisions without consulting anyone. Nasuf pulls rank in the family. Everyone has run out to watch the commotion as Harun yells out to Nasuf that this is not a game..it’s a marriage. Handan tries to down play the moment but Nasuf assures everyone he is not being impulsive. His word is final. Reyan tries to support Harun but Yaren shuts her down telling her not to meddle….insisting she’ always trying to destroy her. Reyan is in shock but Yaren pushes and grabs her and is detained by the guys…but Yaren continues her rant. She says Reyan took the man she loved (Miran who is standing outside …listening in shock}….and she’s making her gramps force her out of the house Cihan grabs Yaren and gives her a good slap to the ground. She looks around at everyone one. She finally stands up and goes up to Reyan and speak. She rants about tolerance and being a true Sadoglu while Reyan is being treated like a Queen even though she’s been nothing but trouble. Nasuf senses where she’s going with the speech and tries to stop her but she walks up to Reyan and spits out that “Reyan is not her uncle’s daughter” to everyone shock including Miran. Gul calls out for her sister Reyan. Yaren taunt’s Nasuf to confirm it…he just wants to know what the hell she wants. Yaren goes over to Azat taunting him as well. He looks at Reyan painfully as she looks back knowing that he and others in the family knew about her adoption but she didn’t. Reyan cries while Miran stumbles outside to sit…in shock. Yaren goes to Hazar taunting his that he has lied all these years. Finally Nasuf grabs her. Hazar calls to Reyan who calls back for him…in tears and disbelief. She looks around at everyone that is supposedly her family.
She looks outside the front door and remembers a time when she was younger. She outside on the step waiting for her dad to return home. She runs to him and he greets her lovingly as a father would. They have a typical father/daughter moment. In her mind, she tells herself that “you are my father….that’s what you told me. Did you lie to again she thinks”. He tries to go to her. Everyone is upset except for Yaren who is smiling, taking joy in all their pain it seems. Finally Reyan backs out of the door. She looks down at Miran who calls out to her. Sukran was outside listening…she too calls for Reyan. Miran finally bolts to the car and pulls out his gun …remembering one of Azize’s many declarations of hate for the rapist Hazar. He hits the steering wheel and pulls off. Meanwhile Reyan was left walking the streets…going nowhere…in shock. She sits in tears…with Hazar’s fatherly words echoing in her ears. Sukran finally catches up to her and urges her to come back and talk to her father. Reyan cries …she doesn’t have a home…she never did.

Part 3
Back inside, Yaren’s family let her have it but Harun jumps to her defense. As she looks on, he agrees that Yaren didn’t go about things the right way but it was important that the truth was told on the matter. Azat points out that it wasn’t Yaren’s place to reveal the adoption …but Hazar’s. So Yaren pipes in that Hazar didn’t ….no planned on every revealing the adoption. All the while, Hazar is sitting dazed and shocked. He finally yells Yaren’s name and gets everyone’s attention. “Reyan is my daughter and deserves to be part of this family more than you” he says. “In fact, you don’t belong here”. He kicks her out of the house but when Handan takes offense, Cihan supports his brother’s decision. He goes to throw her out but Handan doesn’t feel she should pay for someone else lies. To this, Hazar reveals that Yaren know all along about the Asses plot against Reyan and chose to stay silent. If Yaren doesn’t go Hazar will…this get’s Nasuf’s attention. Cihan tells Azat to take Yaren to a hotel but Handan isn’t having isn’t have it. She accuses him of treating Elif (who has been painfully watching all the commotion) better than his own daughter. Cihan steps to her and explains they’ve both made errors in their attempt to cover for Yaren and it’s now time for Yaren to pay. She’s not to step foot in the house again until she’s married. He tells Azat to get her out of their site right away. Yaren continues to divert blame on Hazar and Nasuf who appears to be affected. He say’s Yaren is right and won’t go to a hotel. Nasuf grabs Yaren and drags her behind him. Now everyone wants to know where he’s taking her. “Where he decides” he says. Handan threatens to call her own dad so Nasuf tells her to go ahead. And tell him everything Yaren has done. This silences everyone but Yaren who is crying for mercy as Nasuf drags her away. Handan then threatens Cihan that she’ll never forgive him or his family if they harms Yaren. Cihan is not moved nor does he believe his father means harm to Yaren.
Meanwhile, Azize goes outside for a breath of air when Miran pulls up and barges in. He cocks the gun and points it at Azize and accuses her of knowing Reyan wasn’t a Sadoglu. Esma comes out concerned. Azize remains calm and counters that he won’t believe her anyway….adding that he’s not interested in an answer of he wouldn’t be pointing a gun at her. She steps to him and dares him to shoot her questioning what difference it makes. He tells her not to try to confuse him and to answer the question.
She lies and says that if she had known, her plan would have been different…perhaps she would have used Gul instead. Anyway, Hazar has raised and loved Reyan like she was his own she counters. She doesn’t regret anything…she wants revenge as well as justice. “you don’t know justice” he says. What does this change she wants to know. Nothing he says…since he committed the error of listening to her and using Reyan as part of her revenge. He shouldn’t have done it. But she whipped him so much with her years of lies, he was weak. Reyan’s parentage is not the issue…he just shouldn’t have done it. He can’t seem to look her in the eye when he speaks of Reyan. She takes the gun from him and points it in his face. He steps closer and she lowers it. She tells him that the next time he points a gun at her…shoot it till all the bullets are gone. She fires the gun in the air several times and returns it to him. He in turn tells her she doesn’t deserve to die at his hands and walks away.
She gets a call from Hanife and tells her once again she’s late. She already knows everything.
Hazar is walking the street crying and falls against a wall….wondering where Reyan is. At that moment, he gets a call from Zehra (whom no one misses) and he doesn’t want to talk to. Zehra has a 1000 questions and wants him to visit with the kids. Great idea he says. He gets off the phone without revealing anything.

Part 4
Meanwhile, Gul is Reyan’s room crying to herself about what she overheard. Cihan comes in and tries to sooth her. She wants her mom…she has questions….Yarn is bad. He calms her an sends Melike to tend to her.
Nasuf delivers Yaren to the place she deserves not knowing he was followed. He has to pull her out of the car and throws into the yard inside of the place. A woman appears to be waiting. She cries grandpa but he tells her not to call her that anymore. Reyan doesn’t’ have my blood but she’s more a nieta than you. “You’re not that to me” he says. He tells the woman to lock her in as she cries for him not to leave her. He tells the woman Yaren is not to leave the place unless he returns for her. Don’t’ talk to her and only give her water and bread…..and she works. The woman agrees …he leaves after paying the woman.
Sukran brings Reyan to her house but suggest she not talk to her mom since she’s pregnant and far away. Reyan fingers her phone but gets a call from Miran before she can call her mom. She doesn’t answer and goes inside. He was watching from a distance and is disappointed that she didn’t answer.
Last part......
• Reyan is devastated and takes refuge with Sukran who tries to console her.
• Outside Miran thinks to himself about the contrasts in their childhoods but asks her forgiveness
• Yaren was thrown into a animal pen and decides to kill Reyan cause everything’s her fault
• It was Harun who followed Nasuf but decides to leave her there for the night
• Hazar makes his way to Sukran. He cries outside to Miran about the situation. Neither man feels worthy of Reyan right now.
• Meanwhile, she’s in bed… talking to her younger self
• Hazar meant to tell her the truth but couldn’t… he was always afraid to lose her. He then turns his ire to Miran…none of this would have happened had he not entered their lives. Miran doesn’t appear to disagree.
• Ironically Miran is now at Hazar’s side while he appears to have lost Reyan
• Neither man has been able to save or maintain the woman they love
• Reyan’s younger self gives her a pep talk …telling her never to lose hope…she cries
• Azize learns of Firat’s investigation…Mahmut reports on Reyan and Sukran and Yaren…pleased the Sadoglus are in conflict. Determined that ReyMir don’t reconcile she orders Mahmut to reveal Reyan’s real dad
• Handan preaches to her husband and son that they don’t know how to defend their women. Nasuf returns in time to hear her rant but doesn’t reveal where he dumped Yaren.
• Azat tires of Nasuf and defends his mother…Nasuf rebuffs him…and Cihan jumps in. Handan continues to take shots at Elif who speaks up for herself so of course Handan slaps her cause no one can talk bad about her brats
• Next day, Reyan awakens…thinking of her dad….who along with Miran has slept outside her window…shoulder to shoulder.
• Gul decides to go search for her mom….Sukran cover HazMir with a blanket when she finds them. She wishes Hazar could be a father to Miran…he’s a good man.
• Miran wakes 1st and sees Reyan watching them. Hazar wakens
• She was waiting for Hazar to come for her…say Yaren lied….it wasn’t so. She goes into a crying rant. He loves her despite the blood relation. This time the horrible Yaren wasn’t lying
• She realizes that he treated her the same as he treated Gul…was it pity she wonders…now she knows why her grandfather never loved
the End
Nett
Thanks very much, Nett, for an excellent recap of an episode I found hard to take.
Most of the recap was really good, but there was one place near the start where I think you misstate what was said. In the scene where Miran plays the cassette, you say that we hear Ayla suggest to Dilsah that she go to Nasuh to ask for help, but in fact Ayla suggests that Dilsah write to Hazar to let him know that Nasuh has refused to help her. This is important, since it lets everyone, including Hazar, know about Nasuh's refusal.
The rest of your recap does a fine job of describing all the crazy things that happen. I don't think I could have dealt with this episode nearly so well. I found myself too annoyed with Reyyan, with Miran, and with Hazar.
I tried to put myself in Reyyan's position in an (unsuccessfrul) attempt to understand why she was so devastated at the thought that Hazar wasn't her biological father. How can she think that the man who has loved her and raised her from the time of her birth isn't her father? As Sukran says near the end of the episode, what's important isn't blood but heart.
I found myself angry at Miran as well. Reyyan has just received some painful news, and what does Me-ran do? He leaves her and sits outside the Sadoglu konak feeling sorry for himself. And then he gets into his car and drives off in a huff, leaving a distraught Reyyan and an aged Sukran to walk. They clearly couldn't have walked all the way to Sukran's house, so somehow they must have gotten a ride, but how or when wasn't clear.
As for Hazar, he spent most of the episode feeling sorry for himself for not telling Reyyan, not saving Dilsah, etc. etc. At times it seemed as if he and Miran were having a guilt contest.
It occurred to me that there is a bright side to the revelation that Hazar is not Reyyan's bio daddy. Once it comes to light that he's Miran's father, neither Reyyan nor Miran will agonize over incest.
As for the rest of the episode, I was glad that Yaren didn't go unpunished. But it's late and I think I've ranted enough. Thanks again for the recap.
Thank you Nett! Great detailed recap for an episode that was both heartbreaking and annoying at the same time. What was heartbreaking, for me, was the fact that Reyyan really felt truly alone, unprotected, and belonged nowhere, and to no one for the first time so completely in her life. I don’t think for one minute that she doesn't know that she was loved by Hazar, but finding out the way that she did was not only devastating, but unnecessary. Hazar couldn’t protect her from the Miran’s of the world, but he certainly could’ve protected her from the Yaren’s, especially knowing the kind of bitch they’ve lived with all these years. I also put the blame on Zehra, but especially Hazar for allowing her to discourage him from telling Reyyan the truth long ago. Hazar is so weak most of the time and it’s disgusting! Then there’s Mr. Miserable himself, who like Juanita said, leaves Reyyan alone and distraught, but finds the energy to go and confront evil Azize! WTH!! Why does he continue to believe that she would tell him the truth about ANYTHING! Grow up Miran! Grow the hell up! Azize eats lies for breakfast! You’re such a crybaby fool!
And how annoying was the cry fest! Never seen two weak azz crybabies rattle on and on and on, all in their feelings like emotionally wrecked idiots! Go play in traffic you two and take us ALL out of our misery! Otoh how cute was it that father and son fell asleep on each other’s shoulders? Even with that, they both got on my last nerve! I had to mute them! Ughhhhh!
Yaren’s back to her “Ima kill you Reyyan”threats——yawn. The girl is truly deluded and Handan feeds her pet crocodile like it’s a purring pussycat. Handan is another one who is annoying as all get out. She’s nasty and disrespectful and has the audacity to take up for Yaren——then smack Elif in the process cause she couldn’t handle the truth Elif spoke. Her daddy must be some big wig cause she certainly played the “Ima tell my daddy card!” What is with these people! Azat did nothing but stand there like a goofball, and all of them blaming one another for Yaren’s bad behavior! Psychos! Each and everyone of them! No wonder Cihan is running around tryna play superhero! Nasuh raised two weaklings! I hope Azize never learns that Handan smacked her precious Elif! Handan’ll have to get ghost and go have that baby in the mountains somewhere, lol…..But if Handan does have a badazz of a Dad, why is she threatened by Azize at all?????
This episode was emotionally exhausting! That’s for handling it Nett! Much appreciated!
Dondi, thank you for another fantastic recap as this story unfolds .
It is so great to see Fatmagul let her guard down a bit and start to relax around Kerim. That song they sang together was so emotional . Their hearts were on their sleeves as everyone disappeared from that scene . The love Kerim feels for Fatmagul shone in his eyes . Kristin who? What? Where? She is delusional if she thinks she has a chance to get Kerim Back in her arms . That ship has sailed and fatmgul is the captain. Wow ...those don't lyrics....make me your slave ..okay...stab me...no.
Mustafa Lookwhatyoumademe do. Man up to your mistakes like Kerim is trying to do. Basta.
Thank you, dondi356. Very enjoyable episode. I try to ignore the rotten ricos, Mustafa and Mukaddes.
"He asks Fatma how it went at the doctor, then he immediately apologizes when he sees the look on Fatma’s face." - when Kerim notices Fatmagul is not comfortable with what he says or asks, he pulls back and takes pressure off her. He did it too when he said he loved her.
At the beginning of the date Fatmagul was tense then she relaxed. They took us on a boat tour of Istanbul. We saw:
Container ships passing through Bosphorus from the Black Sea going to the Mediterranean en route to the Atlantic ocean.
Haydarpaşa railway station
Maiden's Tower
Galata Tower
Fatmagul was watching the sights, the water and the birds. Kerim was watching Fatmagul and Dondi was watching Kerim. :)
Thanks for the song details, Dondi. When I was watching I wished I knew what it was about. Saz - I think the string melody that accompanies the nice Fatmagul Kerim moments includes saz.
"Kristen says this in Turkish so Fatma can understand: Kerim knows this place. He took me there a long time ago when I first came to Istanbul." - I didn't catch that this for Fatmagul's attention. Ah, Kristen!
"[Turkish] just when we were talking about her. She must be a good person." - is that Turkish for "speaking of the devil?" Interesting. In Spanish they said "Hablando del rey de Roma."
It was fun watching Fatmagul and Kerim's first date. Kristen added some spice. A little bit of jealousy makes you realize something is up with your feelings.
"Fatma says, did she change her mind after hearing we are together?" - Fatmagul is on the ball.
They go feeding pigeons in front of Yeni Mosque by the spice bazaar. Fatmagul is having a good time, smiling. They have meatballs with pickled peppers in a diner. Then outdoor café. So nice to see them getting closer.
Nett, thank you for recapping that agonizing episode for us.
Busy day of holiday stuff , but I have to comment on Mir melting into a weak puddle outside the door instead of rushing to Reyysn and holding and comforting her and taking her away from that toxic scene. Wow just wow . Hazar isn't any better as he wallowedin his own misery .
So old Goodgran has to hobble after Rey and then Some how got her to her home.
Finding the old tape in The old boombox was a unique twist and believsble to me because this past summer , I found an old tape recording that our two daughters made on the way home from Disney World when they were about 5 and 7 . At the end of that tape , I heard the voices of my mother and aunt that the girls secret!y recorded. Gave me smiles and chilld.
Merry Christmas Eve, Eve everyone!
Before I add any comments, thank you Nett for readjusting your schedule and putting together this terrific recap of a difficult episode. I appreciated that you were able to get in some snark, like referring to the Aslanbey as the Asses, HazMir and of course my favorite: “he gets a call from Zehra (whom no one misses)” no kidding!
I found myself feeling sorry for Miran at the beginning of the episode and didn’t mind the emotional reaction from everyone. I liked learning more about Dilsah as well, the good and unfortunately the bad with her being hauled away by the Asses. That was horrible. In the recorded convo with Dilsah and Ayla, Dilsah told her that she had gone to see Azize and “told her everything.” I vaguely remember that scene in season one and Dilsah even told Azize that she was pregnant from Hazar. I wonder if Azize never mentioned that detail to Mehmet? Also, I hope we find out how Mehmet even met Dilsah and honed in on her in such a stalker, sick way. I also wonder if there could be more of that conversation still left on that tape?
The Yaren reveal was as expected, what I didn’t expect was the way Handan defended her. GT should have tossed her in the sheep barn right along with Yaren and her white pants!
So, after the big reveal, both Hazar and Miran have meltdowns? Really? It was poor GG who got Reyyan back to her house in record time by use of the dizi teleport system. That pathetic display of angst and “I am worse that you” pity party was ridiculous. I did have to laugh a bit at the look of disgust on Reyyan’s face as she stared at Dumb and Dumber sleeping on each other outside the home of the Seven Dwarfs.
It is pretty bad when Cihan is the one who thinks about checking on Gul. No wonder she is heading down the road all alone again. I am sure she and Seraphina are not going to end up in good hands. Azize already told Miran she could have used Gul for revenge. Let’s hope not.
Bravo Nett! Thank you!
Thank you, Nett.
I wonder when Miran jumped in the car and rushed to whine to his abuela, did he pass Reyyan walking like a zombie, leaving her in the dust and smoke? He must have. She walked in the same direction. They should have showed it! What a jerk!
I’m especially grateful for the recap, Nett, because I couldn’t stand watching this gigantic Midyat pity party. In the interest of self-preservation, my mind switched off here and there. Yes, “Zehra (whom no one misses)”
I think Reyyan will come around quickly. She’s not like the idiot she married.
Juanita, when you said there was a bright side—no incest, I immediately wondered what if Reyyan turns out to be related to the Aslanbeys? Just so we get some incest agony.
I liked Yaren new digs. Maybe they will make her dig some of the animal droppings. ITA, VVS, I wished they sent Handan with her.
I’m glad we are getting a break from these crybabies. BTW, I saw the Turkish movie they are showing tonight. I thought it was good, not an easy watch. It’s on Netflix in the original Turkish.
This was great, Nett, thanks so much.

THANKS ..OMG!!I HAD NO CLOSED CAPTION...[friggin@#$%&*@#].so, I was REALLY!!! Looking forward to this recap and all the comments!!
Miran...for the love of 'Allah-Sub-hanna-Wa-Talla[Praises]....why did you leave Reyyan...??
..WHY ? WHY?..why?.why??..porque?why???I quess it was all too close to 'adult emotions'...?? REYYAN...this was where the RUBBER-HIT-THE-ROAD!!

*****he ran to his REAL WIFE/LOVER [emotional-incest]: Azize...!!

REYYAN ....HE FAILED THE TEST...!!!
.
Absolutely HALIMACANDY! Emotional-incest is exactly what it is! Miran’s attachment to Azize is deeply rooted in “her” pain that she’s managed to make “their” pain. Miran does need to run! Far, far away until he can break the cycle of emotional abuse that’s been planted deep in his very soul…..let him go Reyyan……..he’s not strong enough to take you on right now……reject him like he wants……
