Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #34
Part 1 of 5

In response to Hazar, Aslan says that he did indeed research the Aslanbey family, but they left Midyat way before he was born and the Sadoglu know the reason they left so he is certain they are not his family. Graciously, he says it is time for him to go as he doesn’t want them to feel uncomfortable with his presence. He apologizes.

As he turns to leave, Reyyan gives Azat the eye/lip pointing gesture and Azat says, Aslan. Next, we see Aslan at the dinner table with Miran and Firat peering down from the crowsnest balcony of the konak. Miran cannot believe that the SADoglu are so quick to trust Aslan. He saved Azat’s life, says Firat, of course they are going to trust him. At the dinner table, Aslan is conveniently sitting next to Reyyan. She serves herself some bread and Aslan asks for a piece as well. Miran is furious seeing this and Firat has to restrain him. Miran laments that they could have been far, far away. Firat says that it is not too late for that! Take Reyyan and leave.

I can’t, says Miran. Almost scoffing, Firat tells Miran to stop living for others and to live his own life. Miran tells him that Azize will never stop so he has to stop her. She is playing with their minds, so he will convince her that he is back to the venganza and mess with her mind. (Good luck with the one Miran, Azize is in the major leagues, you are not).

As Reyyan excuses herself from the dinner table, Aslan is a gentleman, standing and pulling her chair. She heads up to the balcony and starts talking to the plants. Miran has sent Firat home and he playfully hides her digging trowel. Of course, she is upset that he is there, fearful that Hazar will really kill him this time if discovered. He gets a bit romantic and Reyyan is concerned that if not discovered by her family, the neighbors will complain. Miran says he doubts that because he bought the konak next door.

Laughing, Reyyan calls him crazy and he reminds her that he is crazy in love with her and there are no limits to what he would do for her. He helps her over the wall between the konaks and they sit on the roof patio of their new meeting place, (because now no one can see them, in the open, but on the other side of the wall). He tells her regardless of the divorce papers, they will still be married. She is sad that he signed the papers. He steals a kiss as they cross back over into enemy territory.

At the dinner table, Aslan is admiring the beauty of the stones in the konak. Standing behind him, Hanife looks on with a smile. Azat tells him that the view from the rooftop patio is beautiful. He invites him up to see Midyat from there.

Reyyan is having a hard time getting rid of Miran. He doesn’t want to leave her, especially with Aslan in the house. She tells him they need to be grateful to Aslan for helping Azat and taking on the blame so there wouldn’t be bloodshed. Miran is annoyed that he has to jump from roof to roof to see his own wife for two minutes while that guy gets to sit and have dinner with her. She tells him to stop the jealousy and when he brings up the photo of Reyyan that Miran found at Aslan’s house, she tells him the story Aslan shared earlier about taking photos of the Sadoglu because he thought they might be his real family. Miran is rightfully suspicious of Aslan and his lost family story. He tells her that Aslan is not some angel sent down from heaven, in fact, satan hoodwinked everyone in heaven to believe he was a good guy.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #34
Part 2 of 5

Reyyan gets frustrated but Miran tells her he will leave. He asks for a big smile to stay with him until they see each other again. She hopes that when GT accepts Azize’s offer of peace, they won’t have to get a divorce. As she says this, Aslan comes up the staircase and totally busts them talking. After a couple of intense stares at Miran and the Reyyan, Aslan tells Azat, who has not seen the two exiled love birds, that he would prefer to have coffee downstairs, saving Miran from being discovered.

Reyyan scolds Miran again for putting her in these situations where she is terrified for his life. She is grateful once again to Aslan for helping them. Miran of course only rolls his eyes as he fears no one. Reyyan finally heads downstairs, leaving Miran to stew.

In the lower patio the “men” are all talking. Nasuh tells Aslan that if Azize threatens him again, she will find the Sadoglu’s standing right in front of him. He thanks Nasuh and hopes that things will not come to that again. Hazar is not convinced of Aslan’s trustworthiness and uses some veiled language to indicate this. Aslan is quick to recognize this and say that he realizes that he has to earn their trust so they will consider him a friend and not an enemy. Hazar is bit grumpy and after a look from Cihan, he tells Aslan that he was speaking in generalities and not directing his comments at Aslan.

In the kitchen the two-faced spy, Hanife, relates the goings on at the Sadoglu casa. It does seem that Nasuh will take Azize’s offer of peace. Azize plays it cool as Hanife tells her about “that boy” Aslan showing up for dinner but the discovery of all the family pictures. Azize says, I am sure all hell broke out right? No, says Hanife, Aslan said he was looking for his real family and thought the Sadoglu might be it. He ended up having dinner here. Azize smiles after they disconnect, so you weathered the storm? Well, you are my grandson after all. Let us declare this peace and then you will see who wins this battle.

In the kitchen, Harun applauds Hanife for her conversation with Azize. I bet Azize wants to pull her hair out with anger right now, he says. Hanife wants to know when she will be able to meet with and hug her nephew? Whenever he says so, replies Harun walking out.

Back on the man patio, Azat is still wondering why Azize has suddenly offered the olive branch. As Harun gets the go ahead nod from Cihan to join the group. Will you accept the peace Aslan asks? Cihan says that they definitely will, right dad? Nasuh is still very noncommittal. Aslan offers his two cents, saying he admires them for not making hasty decisions. Usually families want revenge, an eye for an eye, especially after Azize had Azat shot. He continues, now you will make peace with the family that tried to kill your grandson. Most wouldn’t do this knowing that Azize Aslanbey will most likely turn your acceptance of peace and say it is because you are afraid of her.

These intentional comments by Aslan really seem to get Nasuh dander back up. GT says that he didn’t ask anyone’s opinion and certainly not their approval of what he will do. No one will call me a coward in the middle of the Midyat plaza, says Nasuh. Aslan apologizes and says he never meant that anyone would call him a coward. He just appreciates the overall attitude to forgive and move on. I don’t need anyone to praise or criticize my decision, says the now angry Nasuh. Aslan, the pot stirrer, wisely stands and says it is time for him to leave. Nasuh is the one who leaves in a huff, with Azat apologizing to Aslan for his grandfather’s gruffness.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #34
Part 3 of 5

Aslan says he obviously didn’t state his admiration correctly and asks Azat to apologize to Nasuh again on his behalf. Azat and Harun escort him down to the courtyard.

In Reyyan’s room. She and Gul are ready for bed. Gul, with a new dolly, is making Rey laugh with her imitation of the new cook. Melike comes in and slides her phone to Rey with a knowing look saying that her grandmother is going to call to check on Rey in about five minutes. Melike takes Gul off to bed and Rey waits for Miran to call.

Aslan arrives back at his home. He is thoroughly tick off and let’s Mahfuz have it. First, he asks who side Mahfuz is on and then blames him for allowing someone to break into the house and take Aslan’s prized photos. We see some serious anger sparks coming from Aslan in this exchange. Aslan tell him what happened with the photos at the Sadoglu konak.

Mahfuz keeps very calm, saying, that must have been hard to explain. As Aslan gets in his face, Mahfuz pushes back and tells Aslan that he warned him not to have those personal items in this house, especially knowing what Azize was capable of. Don’t blame me for your mistake, says Mahfuz. Aslan shows he is definitely an Aslanbey by yelling/telling Mahfuz his job is to keep him from making mistakes. He can make mistakes but Mahfuz cannot, that is why he hired him. With that, Aslan storms out of the living room, into his Reyyan Shrine and slams the door. Mahfuz says, trust me, I know exactly why I am here. (Notice the thoroughbred stallion painting in the background).

In separate bedrooms, in separate konaks, ReyMir talk on the phone. Miran remembers the first time they met or at least saw each other at the museum, where Rey lost her hair comb and Mir picked it up, not knowing who she was. They chat for a bit about how things might have been how hopefully they can make things change and be together. Rey has the compact mirror under the pillow. Mir has the Aslan blown up photo on the pillow next to him. Rey has hope that GT and HAG will make peace the next day and all will be well. They will live for each other; they will keep their love alive and soon will be in the same room again. (Episode 69 maybe?). She wishes him positive sweet dreams.

The next morning, Reyyan goes up to her mini garden on the balcony patio and talks to the plants. She sings a beautiful ballad to the plant. As she sings, we see the Sadoglu posse, Nasuh, Hazar, Cihan and Azat, walking to the Midyat town square. We also see Mahmoud, the chauffer/robot/bodyguard for Driving Ms. Azize arrive at the town square. Miran also arrives, albeit looking annoyed at having to have HAG’s back. Firat, as always, is Miran’s wingman. The families once again face off in the middle of the square as the town folk gather.

Watching from a second story building, Mahfuz tells Aslan that there are men strategically place in the crowd. Aslan nods his approval. Reyyan watches from a street corner and prays that nothing goes wrong.

Looking pretty in pink, Azize surveys the enemy. Then states, years ago I declared war against you and your family in this plaza Nasuh. I went to your konak yesterday and offered peace. Extending her hand, she asks, do you accept my offer? A few uncomfortable seconds pass and it appears that Nasuh is going to return the handshake, when murmuring from the plants in the crowd reach his ears. “Are the Aslanbey really giving up their revenge?” “Is it a trick?” “I know Nasuh Aga and he will not forgive the Aslanbey for shooting his grandson.” “Nasuh will never allow anyone to call him a coward.” “Why would they reconcile? Azize Aslanbey must fear for the life of her grandchild.”

The Sadoglu men (including Harun) all look at GT and then nervously at the crowd. Aslan and Mahfuz listen, smiling as the comments continue. Azize still has her hand extended.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #34
Part 4 of 5

Nasuh has a flash back of Reyyan arriving back in her wedding gown after Miran abandoned her. He remembers a Miran melt down where Miran threatens to kill Hazar. Then he thinks about the words of Aslan the night before. Raising his voice, he says, from here forward the Aslanbey will always be the hated enemy of the Sadoglu. Here in front of everyone, I reject your offer of peace. More murmurings from the crowd. Azize, drops her hand and takes a few steps forward, saying, since you refuse my offer of peace, then you need to watch your front and your back Nasuh.

Reyyan looks devastated, Cihan wants to say something to Nasuh, Aslan looks pleased with himself and Miran looks the same, angry, with bangs. Azize looks at her enemies again, then she looks up and sees Aslan peering down. Once again, she realizes that she has been thwarted by her grandson. She departs. Miran starts to walk away, Cihan has already walked away, angry with Nasuh. Azat looks disappointed/concerned.

Firat sees Reyyan standing on the corner and runs over to her. She tells him that everything is over, there is not going to be peace. He pulls her away, running, saying, you can still have peace Reyyan. Azat sees what is happening, assumes the worst and yells that Firat is kidnapping Reyyan. (Huge eye roll here for me Patio friends). The Sadoglu’s plus one (Harun) run after the would-be kidnapper.

In her car, Azize calls Aslan and tells him to meet her at the cemetery, toot sweet. Aslan smiles after disconnecting saying, things not going the way you planned grannie?

Firat keeps Reyyan running while he gets ahold of Miran and tells him what street they are on. Miran runs as the Sadoglu’s run to find Reyyan. For a chubby old dude, Nasuh can move. Lots of running down alleyways, but it is Miran who catches up with Firat. He hugs Reyyan and tells her that it is going to be okay.

Firat hands Miran their passports and power of attorney so he has access to what is due to him. Firat tells them to get the heck out now, he had all of this ready just in case Nasuh didn’t want peace. The venganza will continue with or without them, just go! (I have new found respect for Mr. Firat). ReyMir hesitate just a tad too long as the Sadoglu’s descend from all alleyways. GT yells, demanding to know if Reyyan is playing them and trying to run away with Miran?

Once again Firat jumps in saying it was all his idea. He tells Nasuh that because of his vengeance ReyMir cannot be together. Miran has to finally tell Firat to back down. Lots of speculative, questioning looks go between Reyyan and Hazar, Miran and GT, Azat and Miran. Azat accuses Miran of lying to all of them again in an attempt to kidnap Reyyan. You love your venganza more than you love Reyyan, says Azat.

The typical insults of days gone by return between the two roosters (thanks novelera). It is Reyyan who once again declares that Miran is dead to her. The only one not convinced by her words appears to be Hazar, but he says nothing as they take Reyyan back under the Sadoglu wing. Miran has the nerve to be upset with Firat for trying to help.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #34
Part 5 of 5

Sultana saunters into the kitchen on the phone with Aslan, who is telling her what happened in the town square. Sultana says that surely Azize is upset because she is not used to losing. She bids him goodbye and prepares herself a cup of tea.

The phone rings and it is Gonul. As Sultana and Gonul talk about what happened in the town square and Gonul babbling on about Sultana not telling her Azize wanted peace, Sultana sits down something that is on the breakfast nook bench, she pulls it out and we see Gul’s doll tossed to the floor, the backside exposing “The Letter.”

As Gonul rambles on, the Patio is engrossed, watching Sultana glance at the doll on the floor, then again at the protruding letter. She absentmindedly pulls the piece of paper out of the doll’s super secure location (Zehra is an idiot) and begins to read, while Gonul continues to prattle on. Shocked at what she has discovered, Sultana drops the phone to the floor, as the episode ends.

Wow, VVS, what a fantastic recap! Thanks very much for all the detail and your excellent commentary.

I'm afraid I'm once again fed up with Me-ran. He thinks only of himself, not listening to Reyyan, and finding nonsensical reasons to be maddened with jealousy. It was only thanks to Aslan that Azat didn't see Miran with Reyyan on the rooftop. I'm sure if Azat had seen them, that would have precipitated a major crisis among the Sadoglu men, perhaps leading to violence.

I don't really understand Miran plans to end Azize's reign of terror by outsmarting her. And I thoroughly agree with what you say, VVS: " (Good luck with the one Miran, Azize is in the major leagues, you are not)."

Why does Hanife refer to Aslan as "that boy," as if she doesn't know him, when reporting to Azize? She certainly knows who Aslan is (as is clear when she talks to Harun), and Azize must know that she knows.

Aslan had me puzzled all thoght this episode. It seemed pretty clear at the Sadoglu dinner that Aslan's remarks were cleverly intended to dissuade Nasuh from making peace with Azize. And Aslan and Mahfouz had men planted in the crowd the next day to further influence Nasuh to reject Azize's offer. What does Aslan want to achieve by doing this?

I guess I was wrong when I said in earlier comments that perhaps the photos of Reyyan on the hidden wall were Mahfouz's. That seemed to make sense, given that he's her biological father. But no, in tonight's episode it seemed clear that the photos were all Aslan's. Which again raises all kinds of questions. I'm not sure whether the writers are just playing with us or whether he really is unhealthily obsessed with her.

VVS, I loved your referring to Mahmoud as "the chauffer/robot/bodyguard for Driving Ms. Azize"!

Like you, I found my esteem for Firat go up tonight. I think he was the one man who came off well in this episode.

And OMG, it's Sultana who finds The Letter!! There have been several close calls, but each time the letter remained hidden. I foolishly thought this would be another false alarm.

Hercai

VVS , thank you for all the details as the crazy continues .

Mystery man Aslan has everyone wondering what he is up to...including me. We now have a couple more characters to add to the crazy stew .

Miran is furious as he watches Rey pass a piece of bread to Aslan. Okay .

And then...let's all run around the streets . Okay .

Finally, Dolly gives up her secret letter to " I'm okay; you're okay" Sulta na . Okay.

Can't wait to see how our story unfolds tonight .

Hercai..

Question : Does Aslan know that Mahfouz is Rey's father ?

HERC

THANKS FOR RECAP!!

YEASSSS!!...MORON...just leave..Azize is in the Major leagues!!

FUDGE!!Sultana has the friggin letter!!!!!

herc

VVS, that was a stunning recap! You got everything and with such great asides.

I LOVED Driving Ms. Azize.

Hazar has undergone another telenovela personality change. Now he scowls all the time.

I am also fed up with Miran. Reyyan has told him over and over that they need to play it cool for a while. Instead he keeps risking their being found together and all hell breaking loose. And, yes, how in blazes does he plan to outwit Azize? He's the dumbest galan I've seen since Eddie Yáñez in Fuego en la Sangre.

I'm confused. It seemed like Aslan brought up the "peace" before any of the Sadoglu did. How would he have known that if he were the innocent bystander he claims to be?

I'm picking up a pattern here. I think Turkish galanes are even more jealous than Mexican ones. Miran is a nutcase. If you take his behavior at its face, she'd spend the rest of her life never speaking to another male person who wasn't related to her. I've also noticed a lot of jealousy in Fatmagul. I have had only one brush with that kind of male jealousy and dumped the guy the next day.

And they had to have Sultana find the letter. No idea where this will go, but I doubt it will be anything that moves the plot along.

Fatmagul #45 part 1

I missed the very beginning, so I don’t know if this was cut or not: Hacer goes to her doctor and asks if she could be seen right away. The receptionist tells her she already has an appointment in a few days and adds, as a matter of fact, your husband called to find out when that was. Hacer is alarmed and asks to cancel the standing appointment. She would like to be seen today if possible because she had a fainting spell earlier.

Hilmiye calls Nil to beg her to give Erdo another chance. Peri overhears and says what she did was wrong.

Cut: Nil considers what Hilmiye had to say. Will she give the creep a second chance? Peri sits with Hilmiye and scolds, you can’t let your son deceive that girl. He will call it slander and do the same thing Selim did to Meltem. I understand, I know you want your son to be happy, but think about the girl. I lied to Meltem for a year. It’s a heavy burden. Hilmiye blows her stack, does my son have to suffer forever for his crime? We’ve all suffered enough! She storms off.

Kadir, Omer and Kerim meet Fahr in his hotel lobby. Fahr is pleasantly surprised to see Kerim, but Kerim does not greet his father and avoids looking at him except to ask, can I see the letter? Fahr hands it over. He says security is checking the records. An employee put the letter under his door. It was left at the counter and had my room number on it. Kadir asks who left the letter? Fahr says they are checking the cameras.

Hacer leaves the doctor’s office and looks around warily. She’s spooked by the sound of a car. She gets in a cab.

Resat checks in with Mustafa and pressures him to get the job done. Musto gets pissed and hangs up on him.

Cut: Musto arrives at his apartment building and Leman is there. Where is Hacer, she asks? She’s not answering my calls. Musto tells her she went to visit her mother. She tells Musto that Kadir came to her house yesterday, he told lies, many lies. He said Vural begged Kerim to kill him. She asks, can it be true? Musto tells her she should go home. Leman keeps asking. I want to know, I want to talk to Hacer. Musto says Hacer will call when she gets back, and he gets Leman a taxi.

Muka gets a call from Rahmi, Murat is having friends over to play. Muka isn’t happy about having to watch a bunch of kids. Fatma gets ready to head home. Did you see that cake she made for Kerim?

The security footage is reviewed. Nothing remarkable until Kerim spots Asu at the counter. Omer says that’s Hacer Ovacik. Fahr asks who is she? Mustafa’s wife. Fahr says he knows her, she fainted in the lobby. I thought this was sort of strange: the security guy automatically knows Hacer was in a room registered to Sami Teserel and her name is Asu Teserel. She checked out.

Hacer calls Sami from a public phone. She’s fine, the baby is fine, she can’t go back to the hotel. Sami hasn’t had time to continue looking for a place, but Hacer says she will find one. He suggests staying with him, but Hacer nixes it. She says she won’t contact him for a while because she’s worried about Musto following him. He even found out about her dr. appointment.

We see Erdo sitting in his car, drinking. Selim calls, wondering where he is. Resat is ticked that Erdo is not at work. Erdo says he’s working, he’s checking out information that Mustafa gave. Selim whispers, are you going to Fatmagul’s house? No, Erdo answers, but we see he is staking out the house. Selim tells him to come to work. Then he thinks that Erdo might be stalking Nil. Nope. Now Selim is ticked and hangs up on him. Erdo says, I hope I’ll catch you alone, Fatmagul.

Fatmagul #45 part 2

The detective work at the hotel continues. They couldn’t see anything on camera because Hacer’s bag blocked the view. They go to Hacer’s room but it’s already been cleaned. Fahrettin wonders if Hacer booked the room next to his on purpose. Kadir doesn’t think so because it was a man who booked it.

Security wants to call the cops, but Omer says don’t do it yet. Let it be our responsibility. Kadir says there isn’t even anything to report right now. The security guy wonders why they made such a big deal then. Kadir says, we thought it was a threat.

Deniz returns to the hotel and immediately rushes over to Kerim and hugs him. She accuses her father of sending her away so he could meet Kerim without her. Deniz introduces herself to Kadir and Omer. She remembers Kadir is Fatma’s lawyer, and he lives with her brother. She’s got that backwards, and Kerim adds, it’s only for a short while.

Deniz wants to know what all this mysterious business is about. Fahr says she doesn’t need to know. Kerim wants to go and Kadir suggests that Kerim and Deniz go home, while he stays with Omer. He can take the car. Kerim’s eyebrows lift with a “no you did not just say that” look. This thrills Deniz, who reaches out to touch Kerim’s forehead and he backs away. Kadir makes his case and looks like Kerim can’t get out of this. Deniz says they are trying to get rid of her and using Kerim to do it. Kadir is killing two birds with one stone, he’s getting rid of both Deniz and Kerim.

They cut Fahr telling Deniz that Mumtaz will get her when he drops Kadir off later. Kerim glares at Fahr and leaves with his sister.

Erdo is out of his car and at a lower side entrance of Kadir’s house. Hmm… not locked…. He pushes his way in to the basement/storage area.

Slight cut at the start with Deniz and Kerim. It’s quiet in the car and Deniz reaches out to touch Kerim’s forehead again and thinks he’s still sick. He shoots her a look, she backs off. I think he feels bad about that so he asks her if she likes fish. Yes. In the Turkish, she says she would like to try bluefish and she talks about how her dad talks about how great the fish is in Istanbul. [You can tell Kerim doesn’t even like to hear mention of his father] Kerim says they will go to the seaside to get some.

Erdo roams through the house as Fatma gets off her bus and walking the rest of the way.
Kerim calls Fatma. She says she’s on her way home. He tells her he is not home. She worries that he got worse and went to the doctor. No, he’s with Deniz, they are buying fish for dinner. She calls out a hello to Fatma. Where did you find her, Fatma asks? It’s a long story. He will fill her in later. They talk about shopping lists and Fatma tells him she made the cake.

Cut: Erdo makes his way into Fatma’s room. He opens the wardrobe and puts his filthy hands all over Fatma’s wedding dress! He sees Kerim’s shirts hanging. He says, so this is your love nest.

That’s when he hears Rahmi arrive with a group of kids. Erdo drops a Turkish F-bomb and runs back to the basement just in time before Rahmi enters the house. Erdo can’t escape because the kids are playing in the area right by that door. Fatma arrives home.

Musto goes to get another passport saying he lost his. He gets a call from Serdar and shuts his phone. Musto is told It will take a couple of weeks to get the new one.

Musto calls Serdar back. He hates to give bad news on the phone, but Emin has had a heart attack and is in critical condition. The neighbors brought him to the hospital last night. And my mother, Musto asks? She is with him and she’s not well, Serdar replies. Musto says he’s on his way but Serdar tells him [Turkish] Emin said for him not to come even if he is on his deathbed. Serdar adds, but I think you should come. Musto is devastated.

Fatmagul #45 part 3

Munir’s guys have followed Musto. They confront him as he leaves the building and a fight ensues. Musto manages to escape in his car.

Fatma serves the kids milk and cookies out in the yard which means Erdo still can’t escape. Erdo’s phone rings and the boys hear it. [it’s Nil calling him] They run to the door. One kid asks who lives here? No one, Murat says. It must be a ghost! And the kids run off.

Erdo moves to another space and calls Nil back. He’s whispering and she takes note. He says he was in a meeting and is on a break. Nil gets to the point. She thought about it and feels she was unfair to him. Unfortunately for him, he hears Fatma and Rahmi talk about the grill that might be in the basement and starts to panic. Nil asks are you still there? Dropped signal, Erdo fudges.

Nil continues, she was unfair and she is willing to take some time to get to know him better. Erdo says that’s great. She will take him to a place tonight, if that’s alright. Yes it is. They agree to dinner at 8p. Erdo nervously looks at his watch. He will have to come straight from “work”.

The kids decide to go in, but Erdo is still not able to make an escape because Rahmi has the grill and puts it in the yard. He almost goes into the basement to get charcoal, but Fatma tells him it’s outside. Erdo picks up a metal pipe in case he comes in.

Kerim and Deniz arrive. Deniz chews Rahmi’s ear while Kerim and Fatma go into the house. Erdo panics inside, he’s going to be late.

It’s dark out now. Kerim, Fatma and Deniz stand around the grill. Muka calls down to them that Murat is hungry. Kerim sends Deniz up with some fish. Meryem and Rahmi set the table. Muka says she wouldn’t be surprised if Fahr shows up tonight.

Kerim makes sure there is no one around to listen. But Erdo is. He tells Fatma about the anonymous letter they think Hacer wrote. [Erdo texts Nil he’s stuck in traffic.] Fatma doesn’t understand, how does she know your father? Kerim says they were staying at the same hotel. Why was she saying in the hotel? We don’t know, Kerim replies. Kerim says either she really wants to warn us about Mustafa or she and Mustafa are playing a game. We couldn’t talk much because Deniz was there.

Meryem comes out and Fatma tells her about the letter. Fatma says maybe that’s why Mustafa came to the restaurant, to find out what happened. Kerim is alarmed. Meryem tells him Fatma told him to leave and not come back. Fatma adds, he only told us to be careful. Kerim says one of these days I’m going to kill that man. He starts shouting, why do they come around?! Why do they follow us?! They do this on purpose to get me angry! Fatma tries to calm him down. [Erdo has been getting an earful]

Kadir and Mumtaz arrive and rush into the yard. Kadir tells Meryem and Fatma to get in the house immediately. What’s wrong? Kadir says he saw Erdogan Yasaran’s car at the end of the street. Erdo panics anew. Kerim drops the F-bomb, he’s here, he’s here! He picks up a stick and heads off. That’s the end of Turkish ep 49

Kadir and Mumtaz chase after Kerim. Meryem and Fatma go inside. They take the stick from Kerim and he runs down the street to Erdo’s car. Kerim is a wild man.

Cut: Fatma sends Rahmi out to help contain Kerim. Fatma tells the ladies that Erdogan’s car was found nearby. Deniz asks who is Erdogan? Muka spills, he’s one of the guys that raped Fatmagul. Fatma screams, Yenge! Meryem stares at her in disbelief. Muka whispers to Deniz, Erdogan Yasaran. Deniz is gobsmacked.

Omer calls Kadir to check in. Kadir tells him about Erdo’s car and that he’s calling the police. Omer told Kadir that neither Hacer nor Mustafa can be found.

Fatmagul #45 part 4

Erdo tries to make his escape but the men head back into the yard. The fish are burning on the grill. Kadir calls the cops. Mumtaz updates Fahr. He’s pissed at the Yasarans and pissed that Deniz will find out about what is going on. He tells Mumtaz to keep looking out for Kerim.

Cut: Erdo needs to take a leak. He pees against the wall and it streams down the floor. Nasty.

The hotel finds the driver who took Hacer. He tells Fahr he took her to a clinic, then to a public phone. Then he dropped her off at a house in Dolapdere. She took her luggage.
Cut: The women sit and wait. Fatma is shaken. Meryem brings her tea. Muka comments again and Meryem says, what kind of woman are you. Fatma starts crying. Muka says, how was I supposed to know that Deniz didn’t know? Deniz says she still doesn’t know anything. Meryem tells her it’s better not to know. Fatma worries, he found us here. How long has he been stalking us?

Meryem says, their eyes must be on Mukaddes because they are afraid she will testify at the trial. Muka shifts nervously in her seat. Meryem continues, this is their desperate effort to change your (Muka’s) mind. Muka jumps up, don’t say that, don’t scare me. Meryem says it could be. Muka worries about her pregnancy. End cut.

Kadir and Kerim enter the house. We couldn’t find him. Kerim tells Fatma the police were called. Mumtaz is waiting by Erdo’s car. Meryem can’t believe this is so brazen. Kerim makes more threats and Kadir warns him to keep it under control.

Cut: Muka sees a table in the middle of the hallway. One that Kadir and Omer moved. Rahmi says he will take it downstairs. Murat goes with him.

Erdo’s next escape attempt is twarted by Rahmi and Murat. He’s inches away from being discovered by Murat, but Rahmi hurries him away and back upstairs.

Meanwhile, Nil is waiting at the restaurant. Cut: she leaves a message for him, do you have a good excuse? Or are you punishing me because I rejected you?

Resat reads the riot act to Munir and Yasar. Musto calls Munir. Munir issues an ultimatum be here in a half hour or we go to the police. Musto tells him about Emin. Munir doesn’t believe him. His guys found him at the passport office. Musto says he’s not running, that’s why he’s calling Munir to tell him. Munir is sending Yasar to keep an eye on Musto.

Cut: Kadir says this is the last gasp effort by the Yasarans and it is a big mistake. Fatma says they want to intimidate her. Kerim starts in with the “I’ll kill them” stuff. Meryem hushes him.. Murat is there. Deniz tells him not to talk like that, it worries Fatma even more.

Erdo manages to escape but he has to walk. Ha, Ha he’s frightened by a barking dog and bolts. The dog chases him.

The cops arrive at Kadir’s. Kerim goes off on how this is a threat, etc… Kadir explains that there is a court case coming up and they need this noted in the file.

Cut: Nil leaves the restaurant and Erdo hails a cab. He borrows the cabbie’s phone because his battery quit and he needs to call his fiancée. Erdo tries to put his sim card into the cabbie’s phone. It doesn’t fit. Don’t you know your fiancée’s number? Erdo says it’s been a hard day, he lost his car. Was it stolen the cabbie asks? Ah, yes, my car was stolen, Erdo replies. I hope it’s found, the cabbie says. Erdo asks for the phone again. He calls the cops to report the stolen car.

Back in the house, Murat asks if that man will get violent again. Deniz asks, did Erdogan beat you? Fatma doesn’t want to talk about it. Why don’t you want to tell me, Deniz asks, is that when the incident happened? [sorry, Deniz needs to keep her freakin’ mouth shut] Fatma cries. Meryem steps in, this is a delicate subject. We don’t want to talk about it. Slight cut: Deniz keeps pressing, but I am not a stranger, I am like Fatma’ sister. I want to know. Meryem shakes her head.

Fatmagul #45 part 5

Mumtaz comes in and says the police will write a report and he tells Deniz it’s time to go. He will call a cab for her. Deniz says she’s sleeping here. She’s not going anywhere until her brother and Fatma win their case. Mumtaz warns her about her father. Tell my father I’m not going to move from here. She tells Fatma she won’t keep asking questions.

The cops are going to tow the car, when they get a message that the car was stolen. What a coincidence!

Why they didn’t keep Deniz away from Muka, I’ll never know. They cut the beginning of the scene, Deniz comes into the kitchen. Muka tells her, see, Fatma doesn’t share anything with anyone. Muka closes the door, come sit, I’ll tell you everything. She starts, Fatma was about to marry Mustafa. He was a fisherman, in our town…

Mustafa makes it to the hospital, but not in time. His father died. This scene was a little longer in the original Halide rips into Musto, you killed your father! You broke his heart! Get out of my sight and go to your whore wife! Her friends pull her away. She shouts I wish I died earlier… he couldn’t take it anymore. The pain in his heart was too much to bear. Musto cries.

Fatma, Meryem and Rahmi have come out to see what’s happening. Kerim tells her he is going to the station with Kadir to follow up. She doesn’t want him to go. He says there’s no way he can stay home. He takes her hand and tells her to be calm. I won’t let anyone harm you, he tells her. Hurry up, she replies.

Yadigar (Yasarans’ housekeeper) was called to testify by Kadir. Meltem gave Kadir her info. Resat lays it on thick, Yadigar has been with us so many years, Yadigar would never betray us… she is like a member of the family, her and her child. Now that she is retired, do they think she will turn her back on us? Catch the scowl on Peri’s face, lol. So, Resat continues, how are things with your grandchild? She jokes, it’s more difficult than working in this house.

Peri goes to check on dinner and Yadigar says it’s time to go. Nonsense, Resat says and invites her to dinner and to live there. Why don’t you come back? We can find a nanny for the grandchild. Peri is not pleased with this game.

Kerim and Kedir talk on the way to the station. They try to put all the pieces together. The call, Hacer’s letter, the car. Someone is trying to provoke them, but who?

Erdo is at the police station to file his report. He calls Nil. She takes a deep breath and answers What happened? He asks, where are you. She snarks, I’m at the restaurant. I thought I’d wait till morning for you. I’ve had a terrible time, he tells her, a whole chain of events.

He gets interrupted by a call from Selim. Where the hell have you been? He says he’s at the police station. His car was stolen. Selim says he will come with Munir. No, Erdo says, they already found the car. He will be home soon.

He goes back to Nil and tells her his car was stolen. She doesn’t believe him. He can’t really talk now but he will call her when he leaves the station. She hangs up. The cop starts to ask questions, what time did you notice your car was stolen. 7pm Erdo notices the press outside. The cops says a singer and his posse were arrested for drunkenness and they had unregistered weapons.

Oh, poor Deniz, be careful what you wish for. Now that she got the rundown from Muka, she is inconsolable. Muka tells her to wash her face, don’t make me sorry I told you. Meryem says, my God, you can’t keep your mouth shut. She forced me to tell her, Muka quickly replies. Deniz shoots her a surprised look. Yeah right.

You suffered so much, Deniz says to Fatma. Now I understand you. Deniz gets up and gives Fatma an unwanted hug and sobs all over her. Fatma lifts her off, Deniz, calm down. Muka takes Murat to bed. Fatma goes to make tea and Deniz follows her.

Fatmagul #45 part 6

Deniz says you are an admirable woman, Fatma. Fatma says nothing and doesn’t even look at her. Deniz, who never knows when to keep her mouth shut says, this is so hard to believe, it’s something that you read in the newspapers. But this close, in my family, I’m devastated. I’m so ashamed I asked you how you met. You went through such hardship, such pain. I still am, Fatma replies.

Deniz asks why she is still with Kerim. He was there and did nothing to defend you. Okay, he didn’t hurt you, but he was there. Fatma tells Deniz she doesn’t want to talk about it anymore. Deniz wants to know how Fatma can forgive and forget. You two are close now. It’s been a year. How did you get so close?

Fatma replies, because time taught me. Although it still hasn’t healed the wounds. [Turkish] One year taught me a lot: about life, about myself, about people, about Kerim. Thanks to what I learned, I can stand on my own feet now, or at least try. Deniz cries and hugs Fatma again. Fatma gives her a little pat.

Cut: Erdo finds out that there was a complaint against him. Kerim and Kadir arrive and the second Kerim sees Erdo he tries to rush him. Kadir and a cop hold him back. Stupid Kerim says, I’ll kill you if I see you on our side of the city. Erdo points that out to the cop. Kerim and Erdo have a ridiculous argument about who stole Erdo’s car. Erdo says maybe Kerim stole it and set him up.

Erdo is very sly. He says if I didn’t park my car there and you (Kerim) didn’t steal it, then it was someone else who might have had an agenda. Who would this benefit? The cop asks if he has a suspect in mind. Not really, he says. [But this can play into the Mustafa conspiracy theory]

Cut: Hacer’s driver takes Fahr to the street where he dropped her, but he can’t be sure which building she went into. Fahr says, he will knock on every door if necessary. We see Hacer in an apartment with a woman who wears an eyepatch, and it looks like they are sewing costumes. Fahr starts knocking on doors.

Deniz is cold so they go into Fatma’s room for a sweater. Deniz sees the wedding dress. She says the dress is beautiful. She must have been a beautiful bride. Fatma sets her straight, I didn’t wear it. My SIL must have jumped over that part. Why do you have it, Deniz asks? Kerim gave it to me for my birthday. Deniz says maybe you will wear it one day. Fatma gives a maybe look.

Fatma closes her door. Your brother and I didn’t meet in the best way. I don’t even want to remember how we met and I can’t forget it. Kerim and I lived in the same town. We weren’t neighbors but it was the same community, with the same people and we never met..until that day. I first got to know him with hatred.

Deniz asks, but you still wouldn’t be with him if he was a bad person. Fatma says, [Turkish] how I wish I would have met him long ago. Everything would have been so different. Deniz thinks it will be good in the end. I believe it and you should, too. I really want to see you in this gown, she tells Fatma. Fatma smiles and they leave the room.

Erdo is not pressing charges. Kerim is. Kadir says they want an investigation to find out who parked the car by the house. Selim shows up at the station. Kerim is able to stay seated but he looks daggers at Selim. Erdo tells Selim someone is playing a game with us.

Eyepatch lady’s doorbell rings. Hacer tells he not to answer. Uh, oh, it’s Fahr. Patch doesn’t open. Fahr calls out he’s looking for Hacer Ovacik. No one by that name here. Fahr says he’s calling the police. Hacer opens the door.

Fatmagul #45 part 7

Halide cries for her husband. She wishes she died. Her husband took such good care of her. How will I live without him? Musto comes out of the morgue. He tells his mother she has him, he will always be with her. Halide says her husband died with a broken heart but his last words were, “my son” and “Mustafa”. Musto is sorry. He pledges not to leave her again. Yasar shows up and gives condolences. Serdar recognizes him.

Fahr wants Hacer to explain her letter. I wrote what I could she says, I can’t tell you more. Fahr asks if Musto is dangerous for him. Why did you give the letter to me? Why didn’t you give it to the prosecutor? Hacer says that Mustafa needs protection from the Yasarans. They are using him against Fatmagul again. They know his weakness, he likes money. I don’t want him to fall into their trap.

Fahr thinks there’s more to this. Hacer denies it. Why would a wife incriminate her own husband to protect him, Fahr asks? He says if she’s hiding something that will hurt his son, she will pay. I’m pregnant, Hacer says. I did it to protect the father of my child. She didn’t know what else to do. She doesn’t care about Fatma or Kerim or the Yasarans. She only cares about her child.

Fahr questions why she didn’t give the letter to Kerim or to Kadir. She didn’t plan it. He was at the hotel. Hacer says she is separated from Musto because of the Yasarans. Now he won’t forgive me if he finds out about that letter. She doesn’t want Fahr to tell anyone. Fahr says this is about his son and his wife. You dare to ask me to hide this? Hacer sticks with her story. Her mistake was thinking no one would know she wrote the letter. She had no bad intentions. Believe me, she says.

As Erdo and Selim leave the station, a reporter takes notice of them.

Kerim and Kadir leave, too. As they all walk, Kerim and Erdo start to argue. Kadir tries to hold Kerim back while Erdo taunts. He brings up Vural’s murder. We are all victims, Erdo says, we used to be friends. Kerim breaks free and slugs Erdo. They fight. The reporter who noticed has followed and she tells her camera man to start recording. Selim slinks down in the car.

Next morning, the reporter calls in. She is still outside the police station and she talks about Erdo and his fight with the man opposite him in the rape case.

Meryem and Fatma show up at the station. Kadir told them not to come.

Inside, Munir tries to stir the pot to get Kerim going. Kerim barely resists. Papers are signed and Kerim is released. Fatma runs to him. He’s surprised to see her there. He hustles her away, thinking of the press. She wonders why the hustle. She turns and sees Erdo leave. Fatma starts yelling at Erdo and the reporter and cameraman jump into action and record. Gotta laugh at Kerim telling Fatma to calm down. When everyone gets in the cars, she tells the cameraman they have to follow the blue truck. Forget about the celebrity, this is better.

Cut: Erdo tells Munir about Hacer’s letter.

Kerim apologizes for his behavior this morning and she is sorry she lost control. Let’s not talk about them (the Yasarans), she says. Kerim asks if “that man”…. Fahrettin Bey, found Hacer? Yes, he did it himself. Kerim can’t figure why Hacer would do this. She’s pregnant, Fatma replies. She wants to be away from the Yasarans and Mustafa for a while. And she wants to protect Mustafa. That’s what she told your father, Fatma says. Kerim doesn’t like the “father” word. Fatma says, Fahrettin Bey is too long, “baban”- your father, sounds better.

Fatmagul #45 part 8

Kerim says Musto is working with the Yasarans again. It’s why he came to the restaurant. He came like everything was ok, Fatma says, he didn’t even say that Hacer left. Kerim wants Fatma to promise she won’t be alone, at home or at work. He takes her hand, your safety is most important for me.

Deniz comes by. Kerim is surprised to find out she spent the night. Deniz says she didn’t sleep well and her father’s call woke her up. He said he had things to do with Mumtaz today and asked me to stay here. Fatma says she will make her breakfast, Deniz says she can take care of it. Fatma leaves and Deniz looks at Kerim. She tells Fatma she will come with her. [not so keen on big bro anymore?]

Fahr has hidden Hacer in his country house. He will get a phone for her, too. They will get a passport for her as well. No one will find you here, he says. Hacer says she trusts Fahr. And he trusts her. if you want to help us, I will help you. Outside the house, Fahr tells Mumtaz to keep an eye on her and don’t rush the passport. Wait till after the trial.

There’s Yasaran stuff. Discuss if you want.

Erdo is outside Nil’s house. Wow, he went right from getting his car. He’s sorry, he had a terrible night, he looks awful and smells awful. [I don’t want to think about that] He spins his story, his car was stolen, he had a fight with an addict. Blah, blah, blah. Nil tells him his mother called her and it touched her heart. He eventually talks her into letting him take her to work and go to dinner with him that night.

Busy morning everyone gets ready for the day. Muka says she won’t stay in the house alone anymore. Fatma tells Kerim to put on a sweater and asks if he has any clothes to be washed. She follows him into his room and touches his forehead. She says he still feels warm and he says he’s ok. He takes her hand and kisses it just in time for Muka to pass by and see.

Kerim goes to the kitchen and sees the cake. Deniz comes in. They couldn’t enjoy the cake yesterday. Deniz asks if it is because of her. No. Kerim takes the cake out and says it deserves to be eaten together like a family. Deniz thinks he must really like cake. Not that, he says, I like everything that Fatmagul touches. Fatma calls everyone to the kitchen for the cake cutting ceremony.

The reporter who was at the police station, Sinem, calls Meltem. Meltem doesn’t want to talk. It’s not about your father she says. do you have a minute? Sinem gets to it. You’re going to testify for Fatmagul Ilgaz. Meltem doesn’t want to talk about that either.
We see Sinem and cameraman outside of Kadir’s house. The family comes out. Kerim starts shouting about the camera. Sinem introduces herself to Kadir. She’s been following Fatma’s case. Kadir says no pics. Sinem says ok. She calls out to Fatma. Fatma gets in the car. Kadir asks Sinem to leave. Sinem gives Fatma her card if she wants to talk.
I’m running short on time, so I’ve got to condense a few things. Please fill in as you see fit.

Fatma, Meryem, Kerim and Deniz discuss the merits of talking to Sinem.

Hacer calls Sami. Sami tells her that Mustafa’s father died. He’s in Ildir.

Hacer calls Serdar, who passes the phone to Musto. Musto thinks she’s with Sami. Nope. Musto tells her his father died he couldn’t get there in time. He cries. He tells her he wants this baby. I swear. Hacer thinks he’s lying. Bye Mustafa. Mumtaz is listening. [Didn’t Fahr warn her not to call anyone? Now she’s called Sami and Musto.]

At Rose Kitchen, the family goes over recent events. Deniz still thinks that it’s a good idea to go to the press. [Notice that smile between Deniz and Mehmet?] Kadir has yet to weigh in. He’s thinking of the pros and cons. Fatma says it could be good to raise public awareness. I want to talk. I’ve been silenced a lot. Maybe this will help someone in the same situation. Fatma makes the call.

Fatmagul #45 part 9

Fatma meets with the therapist. Fatma says she told her story to Sinem. Fatma likes Sinem. And she’s eager to tell my story, she adds. She’s been sensitive and careful. Other than the prosecutor, the judge and you, I told my painful story to a complete stranger. I tried, anyway. It was a relief and empowering. Fatma turns to her side and asks, isn’t that right? That’s Kerim sitting beside her in the session. You are a very brave person, Fatmagul, he says. The bravest I know.

The Yasarans read the paper. “Rape Victim Speaks for the First Time”. We hear voice over. Kerim: without any fear or worry for what comes next, you told her everything. Fatma: I just expressed what I’ve been going through. Kerim: Your voice was like a shout. You made the cowards hear it.

Fatma says, actually Mustafa saved me from a bigger punishment. If he didn’t turn his back on me, if I was still with him, I would be living a life as if I committed a sin and needed to be forgiven by him. But I am not guilty. Why would I remain silent about it? The day he turned his back on me, my fate turned around again. Now I am glad he did it. I am much stronger now. With tears, she says, strong enough… to stand against… all those that hurt me.

Kerim says she was strong enough to make a man out of him. He says he was so ashamed towards Fatma, especially at times like these when people talk about the incident. I feel so ashamed, I relive that night. I can’t even look her in the eye. She says we sorted that out.

No, Kerim replies. I can’t forgive myself. How can you? I just try to forget. As you started to love me, I felt more ashamed. My hatred towards myself got bigger. I want them to get their punishments right away. I won’t feel better even if I get the worst punishment. I won’t be able to forget. That is my punishment. That night… for me.. for us…

Voice over starts as we see Erdo trying to call Nil. Kerim: the war doesn’t end here. they must accept their crime and receive their punishment. They will get their punishments and then the others like them. Fatmagul’s rage will show other women the right path. Selim goes crazy in his room.

Fatma says nothing will be the same for them. They are exposed now. Before they get what they deserve by the hands of justice, they will receive it from the public. They will see their sins in every pair of eyes. Kerim: Their games can’t change the truth. Fatma: we won’t let them.

Wow, we even see this reported on TV but they don’t give Fatma’s name in the Turkish, only initials. “[Fatma’s] case is a light of hope for women who have suffered.”

Fatma tells the therapist, she’s very nervous about the trial. But I think we will win this time. Kerim thinks they would appeal if guilty but at least they will be in prison.
The therapist asks about their relationship. Kerim says they have a long way to go. We knew that before we started. Fatma says we didn’t even know if there was a path. At least, I didn’t. At first I thought Kerim was with me for pity or because of his conscience. And it made me angrier.

Kerim admits the pain of conscience was great. He will feel it to the end of his life. But, he says, I saw Fatmagul before that night and it made me think, “I want to marry that girl” in those few seconds on the stairs.

Fatmagul #45 part 10

The therapist asks Fatma how she feels about Kerim’s words. She takes a breath. I have two Kerims, she says, the one by my side, and the one in Ildir. The therapist says but that’s the same person. She knows. But my hatred about that night doesn’t allow this Kerim to be there that night. It reminds me of all I’m trying to forget. I can’t explain. I touch him, I want to touch him, but then I think about what’s next and I get nervous. The marriage, the wedding, the gown. They lost their real meaning for me. Kerim wipes tears.

The therapist mentions that Kerim said it was a long path. Fatma says to Kerim, what I told you is true, I don’t want to break up. I want to be healed. I want us to have children. Patience, she says. I will wait, he replies, this is like a gift for me. I don’t want to force Fatma, but sometimes I think I do. I even wanted to leave her because of it. The therapist reminds him that Fatma doesn’t want to break up. Kerim says, she told me she loved me and that made me very happy and when she said she trusted me, that gave me back my life. He looks at Fatma and says, she is my life. They smile at each other through tears.

And we are out.

Thanks for the great comments and questions.

I can’t take credit for Driving Ms. Azize; I think that came from Susanlynn or carmella.

Juanita: Hanife found out about Aslan when she was in jail and Harun came to talk to her. We didn’t hear that conversation but we did see her reaction. Azize does not know she knows.

Susanlynn: I am certain Aslan is not aware that Mahfuz is Reyyan’s daddy.

HALIMACANDY: Fudge for sure, Sultana has the letter!

novelera: Hazar has had a personality transplant and not for the better. I found your jealous galan comments very interesting. Miran is starting to annoy me too.

herc

Thanks very much, VVS, for the explanation about Hanife knowing/not knowing Aslan. I wasn't aware that that's what Harun told her when he came to see her in jail.

Fatmagul

Dear dondi, thank you for yet another amazing account of every detail . You make everything crystal clear .

Is the woman with the patch Hacer's mother ? Patch ...ha .

Muk Just had to spill the whole grim tale To Deniz. Just what Fatmagul needs . ...Deniz horrified and crying . Not helpful. And now Deniz is giving Kerim the stink eye .

Erdo is a dangerous idiot. Poor Kadir has a full-time job holding Kerim back from going full speed at these baddies. . Then , Kerim has to hold Fatma back from going after Erdo. That was pretty funny .

fatmagul

Thanks so much, dondi! I am caught up except for today. I appreciate the inclusion of the cut scenes. Of course we inferred that Erdo called in his car having been stolen. But apparently he wasn't all that smart. It took the cabbie to convince him.

Also...regarding his saying his car had been stolen. That should make no sense to anyone. Why would someone steal his car and not try to sell it out of the country or use it themselves? I suppose he was saying it hinting it was a conspiracy by Kerim. But, on the face of it, the car should not have been parked in front of a house where the woman he has been accused of raping is living.

So I guess Turkish reporters are the same pests they are everywhere. We saw Fatmagul in high dudgeon accusing the Yasarans on camera. And we saw the Yasarans seeing the newspaper headlines and also Nil seeing them. Erdo's toast with Nil.

Herc

You have a beautiful way of retelling the tale, VVS. Thanks so much.

Sorry, so late. Trying to keep up with 4 hours worth of viewing and 2+ hours of recapping on a daily basis.

Such a disappointment that Sultana found that letter.

I haven’t liked Miran from the beginning. He’s one of the most annoying Turkish galans I’ve ever seen. The bangs don’t help.

Plenty of jealous lovers in dizis, both male and female, novelera.

Fatmagul

Dondi, thank you for another fantastic recap and for providing all the cuts as always. You are a champion!

Muka is unrepentantly horrible at every turn. Clearly nothing is off limits to her! I don't know how they continue to live with her! When he suggested divorce, Kerim said Fatma would heal faster without him around. Fatma would heal faster without Muka. Her mental health would see a huge spike to the upside within 24 hours if she got free of that woman!!

I really like hearing Fatma and now Kerim talking to the therapist, it's interesting to hear them talk about their feelings and you see their are still underlying issues that need to be dealt with despite their growing closer: Kerim being unable to forgive himself and Fatma being unable to reconcile the 'two' Kerims. The therapist is right, there's only one Kerim.

Okay the question in my mind, that might be sort of gross, but after reading the recap I was wondering if there is DNA in pee. Like if they realized Erdo was in the house and CSI went down there and collected evidence could they prove he was there?? I am probably overthinking it. Lol totally gross.

I haven't watched today's episode yet either. It's been a crazy week already and it's only Tuesday. Hopefully I will be able to catch up tomorrow.

Fatmagul

Watching the scene of Kerim and Fatmagul pouring their hearts out to the counselor is heart wrenching. They are both trying so hard to move forward .

Kerim seems to have traded booze for cake ....a step foreard. We get to see a lot of food ...fish, cake, cookies, chestnuts . Life goes on . You have to eat no matter what is happening , and Fatma and Meryem seem to be excellent cooks.

P.s. My tablet likes to change Kerim to Kevin and Fatmagul to Fat magic . It is constant struggle.

Fatmagul

Susanlynn, there was another cut scene I didn’t include. Patch asks Hacer, aren’t you afraid of being like me? This is how the job is girl, you can’t leave it. They won’t let you. And if you rebel, they either do this… (she points to her face) or they make you disappear altogether. Hacer replies she’s not afraid of anyone and she owes no debts.

Patch says, you feel free and then the scumbags switch around. See how you ended up here, running from someone? Hacer says, don’t do this, abla. I told you I didn’t want to talk about it. Patch says ok, ok, and adds, I wish I could pull myself away from them as well. I was stupid and this is how I paid for it. If I wasn’t stubborn, I could have been a madam myself. I could have had my own house. But you see I’m in one room, digging my way with a needle. But what can you do against fate? That’s when Fahr rang the doorbell.
So this is not Hacer’s mother, and probably not a blood relation, but she calls her “abla” - sister out of respect for an older woman.

Yep, novelera, Erdo’s not always as smart as he thinks. But he was trying to muddy the waters by first blaming Kerim, then saying it could have been a third party who set them both up. And who could that be? Mustafa, of course. Kerim is already suspicious of Musto. But that’s still not getting Erdo off the hook.

Totally agree, Darcy, Fatma’s mental health would definitely improve without Muka around. Remember how peaceful it was when she went to Salih? Only thing was Murat missed his mother.

The pee scene was nasty but since Erdo did it, someone’s gotta find it, no?

I haven’t watched today’s show either. I’m not sure I can get a recap done for it. I’ll let you know if we should just go ahead and discuss. Even if I can’t recap a whole ep, I can provide the cuts.

Novelera,it seems that Turkish dizis are big on over the top jealousy. Evidently , they seem to see it as a sign of true love. It' s not. I think Miran has brought the jealous ranting and raving to new heights, but in the case of Aslan, his intuition is spot on. He also took an instant dislike to Harun.

Hercai2: #35 - p 1 of 4
As the episode begins, we again see Sultana stunned to read Dilsah's letter to Hazar telling him that Miran is his son. Upon reading this, she had ended the call from Gonul very abruptly. Gonul now calls her back to find out if everything is OK. Sultana tells her she burnt her hand and will call her back later. Sultana then wonders, "What was it that made Azize the demon that she is. It must be more than this." She also thinks about the fact that if Miran is a Sadoglu, then Aslan is the only male heir of the Aslanbey family. Sultana sees this as the justice she has wanted. Justice not for Azize but for Sultana and her children.

Meanwhile, Aslan and Azize are at the cemetary at what looks to be the tomb of his father, Ahmet Aslanbey. Aslan seems to be very sympathetic toward Azize. He tells her that he now sees that she's not just a woman bent on revenge. "You are a woman whose heart fears for her family. Why else would you bend down to your enemy? He tells her that she surprised him, and that just as she wants to protect her famiy, so he intends to fight to protect her. [I confess I don't know whether to believe this is all an act on his part or not.] He also looks at what seems to be empty ground and says, "This is my tomb. It doesn't have my name, but it's not empty. Buried under the dirt is my childhood. If you can bring back what you killed [I assume he's referring to his childhood], I'll leave." She tells him she can't do that. She says he's talked about his childhood, but what about the rest of his life. "I don't want to bury you," she tells him.

At the Sadoglu konak, Nasuh is yelling at Reyyan, accusing her of trying to escape with Miran. Reyyan tells him she knew nothing about the plan, and that she has signed the divorce papers. Nasuh decides he will sell Reyyan's beloved horse, Mavi. Reyyan appeals to Hazar. Hazar urges Nasuh not to sell Mavi, but Nasuh is adamant. He then announces to everyone that he did not accept Azize's offer, and that the Aslanbey will be our enemies until they leave Midyat forever. Handan is very upset and is afraid for her children.

Azize, too, is afraid for her children, more specifically, for her grandson Aslan. "I must do all I can to send you away from this battlefield," she says.

Firat confronts Miran. "I gave you a chance to escape with Reyyan." Miran replies by punching Firat in the face. There's a flashback of Miran angrily telling Firat, "Don't you realize that all my plans will be ruined when Azize finds out what happened here [i.e., Firat's giving passports to Miran and Reyyan and trying to help them leave]? I have to stay and have my abuela have faith in me. We'll play her the way she played us."

Sultana meets with Aslan and gives him The Letter in which Dilsah says that Miran is Hazar's son. Aslan asks whether Azize knew about this. Sultana assures him that she did. "Don't you see what kind of person your abuela is? She's like these hills, dry and dead inside. She raised her enemy's son to kill his own father." She then points out that since Miran is a Sadoglu, Aslan is the only Aslanbey male heir. We can make a new life. She tells Aslan to be sure to give the letter to Miran.

We then see Reyyan and Miran despairing separately over the situation. Reyyan thinks, "How will we re-unite without hurting anyone? They want our love to die, and we will die with it." Miran thinks, "They have to believe they've defeated us."

The scene shifts to the Midyat Palace of Justice. Miran and Firat are there, waiting for Reyyan to arrive for the divorce hearing. Reyyan and Hazar arrive but don't enter the building. Reyyan says, "I can't do it, Papa. I can't divorce him." Hazar is puzzled. "You said you'd do it." "I can't." "Why not?" he asks.

Hercai2: #35 - p 2 of 4
"I'm pregnant!" replies Reyyan. [For a moment, I believed her, but then I decided that if it were true, we'd have seen some some semi-revealing bedroom scenes.] Reyyan tells Hazar, "I can't divorce him, but I can't tell Miran." Hazar is worried that Miran will separate Reyyan from her family. "But what will we tell Miran?" We then hear the official calling, "Calling Reyyan Aslanbey, Calling Reyyan Aslanbey." Reyyan enters the Palace of Justice and tells the official, "I don't want a divorce. I've changed my mind. I know I love my husband." She tells Miran not to worry, she has a plan. He should trust her. The official says that the decision can't be one-sided. He asks Miran whether he wants a divorce. Miran is momentarily speechless. Reyyan says "He doesn't want a divorce either, isn't that right, Miran?" The official then says that there will be no divorce. Reyyan informs Miran that she told her father that she's pregnant. "It's a lie, but I had no other choice. Everyone but my father will think that we're divorced. I have to go. My father is waiting." Miran tells her "Your lie will one day be true." They kiss and hug. Firat looks happy. So too Miran.

Nasuh calls. Hazar tells him that they're divorced.

Harun calls Aslan and says, "Unfortunately, they're divorced. But continue with the plan."

Reyyan tells Hazar, "This will be our secret for now." Hazar replies, "There's something else you should know." His statement is followed by several minutes of commercials, and by then it seems he may have forgotten. Or perhaps I have.

The scene shifts to the stable. Nasuh says that Reyyan is now a divorced woman and she shouldn't be going out riding (!). Reyyan pleads with him. She promises that she won't ride Mavi ever again, just please don't sell her. Nasuh orders someone to take the horse away. Reyyan is devastated.

Back inside the konak, Nasuh asks Hazar whether he's angry with him for rejecting Azize's offer. Hazar indicates that that's not the issue. Nasuh continues, "What if I had accepted? Do you believe that Azize would really have been peaceful? And do we want people to call us cowards?" Hazar says that Nasuh is more concerned with what people say behind his back than what his sons say to his face. "You told Cihan that you were going to accept the offer." Forget Cihan!" Nasuh says dismissingly. "He's just trying to prove he's a man. Does he think he can get a woman like Azize to bow down to him? Do you think he can do anything without our support?" Alas, Nasuh doesn't realize that Cihan had just come to the konak door and had heard everything he said. Cihan leaves without entering. He keeps thinking about what Nasuh said. "I'll show him what I can do without his support." He calls Sultana and says, "We all have secrets, I do, you do, even your dead husband did. [I found what he said to her somewhat confusing, but it seems likely that he wants to make use of the disclosures in Elif's diary to bring down Azize.]

Aslan is thinking about Sultana's saying that he was the only male Aslanbey heir, and that Miran was a Sadoglu. He looks at Dilsah's letter, which is lying on his desk. Mahfouz comes in. He sees the letter and says Aslan has had the letter for three days, why hasn't he given it to Miran? Mahfouz says he remembers the day Aslan kidnapped Reyyan (aha!). We then see a flashback of Reyyan, blindfolded with her hands tied behind her. She tells her kidnapper that she'll leave Miran, as long as no one is hurt. The kidnapper leaves the blindfolded Reyyan and makes a phone call: "Change of plans. We're staying. It's to get revenge against Azize ASAP."

herc
Hercai2: #35 - p 3 of 4
In the present, Aslan tells Mahfouz "I haven't given the letter to Miran because the time isn't right. I'm ending this tonight." Mahfouz steps outside and makes a phone call. We hear, "Yes, Señora, he had doubts, but he'll deliver the letter tonight." [Was it Sultana Mahfouz called?]

Miran calls Reyyan and tells her to meet him. She's somewhat concerned that it's very late and someone might see them. He assures her that no one will know. [Yeah, right]

The scene shifts to Sukran's house. Sukran is hoping/praying that Miran and Reyyan can be together very soon. It's nighttime. We see an ominous black-gloved hand touch the wall near Sukran's house. The person enters. It looks like a woman (or a man wearing a toga?). whoever it is is dressed all in black. The person goes stealthily up to the sleeping Sukran and puts her gloved hands on Sukran's face (as if she's preparing to grab her throat). Sukran wakes up. The person disappears. We see her standing at the entrance, facing outward. Sukran gets up to try to catch the person. She stops outside her house and says, "Dilsah, was that you? Why does my soul hurt?"

Reyyan and Miran meet. She tells him that she left the house for two minutes. She can't stay. He insists he wants to show her something, and she should get in the car. She refuses, so Me-ran picks her up and bodily carries her to the car. He drives to where Mavi is. Mavi is apparently not tied up or confined. Reyyan is very excited. She goes to Mavi and hugs the horse. "Mavi can't live without you, just as I can't" says Me-ran.

They then go into the cabin. Miran starts, "If something happens to me..." Reyyan cuts him off. She doesn't want to think about that. He wants her to know that she won't have to depend on anyone's pity. "I made my will. Everything I have is yours." Reyyan doesn't want to hear this. "Do you think I can breathe without you? You have to survive for me, Miran. Without Miran, there is no Reyyan."

Oops. Aslan has driven to the cabin. He sees ReyMir through the window. A grim-looking Aslan has The Letter in his hand. He goes up the steps to the door. He reaches for the door handle, but he then removes his hand. He takes his cigarette lighter and sets fire to The Letter!! He drops it at the door and then leaves. [Now I really don't know what to make of Aslan!]

Reyyan finally says that it's very late and she has to go back. They exit from the cabin. As they do, each of them unwittingly steps on the letter's ashes.

Azize admits to herself that she's worried about Aslan being hurt. How can she protect him, she wonders.

Miran drives Reyyan back to the Sadoglu konak. She tells him not to get out. Melike is waiting for her. They call Melike, but since the 2 minutes has turned into several hours, Melike has fallen asleep. They both get out of the car. She tells Miran to go. He somewhat reluctantly drives off. Reyyan keeps hoping Melike will appear. Instead, Aslan drives up! He succeeds in opening the door to Miran's house (the one he bought because it was next door to the Sadoglu konak). They go in. Miran drives by the Sadoglu konak again to see whether Reyyan is still outside. He's relieved to see that she's not. Melike must have let her in, he thinks. Reyyan tells Aslan not to turn on any lights--the house is supposed to be empty. She goes off to climb over to the Sadoglu konak. Aslan sits himself down and thinks "So you bought this house to be able to see Reyyan, Miran." [I think that's what he says, but there were no captions in either Spanish or English for this statement.]

Reyyan succeeds in getting into the Sadoglu konak, but her father sees her and is very upset. "I can't watch you ruin your life, Reyyan. You should be with your mother as soon as possible. It's best for you and for your baby."

Miran returns to the Aslanbey konak. Azize is waiting up. He tells her that he and Reyyan are divorced. When she says he has renounced his love, he says he hasn't renounced anything, "we're just divorced." When the truth is out, Reyyan will make a decision. Azize says something about the truth, and Miran asks, "What's the real reason you want revenge on Hazar Sadoglu, abuela? You worked hard to ensure my mother married your son. You must have known that she and Hazar were in love, so why did you choose her for your son?" She replies, "Because he loved Dilsah as much as you love Reyyan." Miran continues to probe. "You must have investigated your daughter-in-law to be, you must have known that she and Hazar were in love. Why choose a woman who was in love with another man? And after I hurt Reyyan, why didn't you stop?" Azize tells him, "You're asking me why I allowed you to mistreat Reyyan when your mother wasn't mistreated? Your mother hurt your father with her betrayal, and I hurt Hazar. Also, I punished him for killing your father."

Sultana doesn't understand why Miran hasn't done anything after reading Dilsah's letter. She calls Aslan, who tells her, no,he didn't give the letter to Miran. She asks why not--the letter would have neutralized Azize. Aslan says he doesn't want to talk about it now, he'll talk later.

Mahfouz too wants to know what happened with the letter. Aslan says he burnt it. Mahfouz is very unhappy. He thought Aslan was interested in the truth. That letter was going to help them get to the end. He destroyed the best piece of evidence they had. "Why did you burn it? Answer me!" "Because I thought it convenient." Mahfouz is furious. "Be honest--do you want justice or do you just want Reyyan for yourself? Aslan says it has nothing to do with Reyyan, and he leaves. Mafouz then says, "He won't admit it, but he's in love with Reyyan. Don't make me choose between Reyyan and you. I won't let anything hurt my daughter." He then calls a woman and tells her "No, he burned the letter. The name on the cellphone was HANIMEFENDI. I have no idea who that is.

Miran is in his room. He is talking to himself. "We will suffer, we will be apart, but I'll fix this. I promise you, my wife." Azize passes near his door and stops when she hears him speak. After he has finished, she goes into her room, but if she has heard him, she knows that he has lied to her.

In her room, Azize takes from a chest yet another letter written by Dilsah. We get a flashback. Azize demands that Dilsah write another letter. Dilsah doesn't want to. "If Miran ever saw these letters you've made me write, he'd hate me." Dilsah appeals to Azize as a mother who has children, but to no avail. "Just one or two more," Azize says. "What difference will it make? Obey and write what I tell you." Dilsah is in tears as the episode ends.

Juanita , thanks for giving us ever detail of this convoluted saga of revenge . I have to admit that I have no idea what any of these people are doing .

So ...Aslan is a handsome kidnapper\peeping Tom\_Stalker who has a plan to.....do something I don't understand . Meanwhile , Reyyan and Miran pretended they wanted a divorce but didn't actually divorce because Rey is pretending she is pregnant but isnt and now they are pretending they are divorced . Did I get it right ?

Nasuh sells Mavi , Rey's one bright spot , because she is divorced ( even though she isn't ) ....and evidently Miran bought Mavi....as well as the konak next door . Moneybags Mir.

Since Mir and Hazar are the supposed good guys of this show and they are both suspicious of Aslan, should we assume that Gorgeouscreepy is a bad guy , especially since he seems obsessed with Rey and once kidnapped her ????

HERC..

JUANITA: GREAT JOB...THAT WAS A LOT!!

ASLAN...BURNING THAT LETTER...in the grip of sexual jealously.......how friggin Freudian can you get!!!

I still haven't watched Tuesday's show. I plan to do so this evening. I won't have time to recap this one. So please go ahead and discuss. I can fill in with cuts and comments later.

I plan to do a recap of today's (Wednesday) show.

SUSANLYN;

YES...WTF.. when did the writers decide to take...'Codependent- No- More':Reyyan and make her infantile...her conversation and dialogue made no sense and very was ...immature? She sound brain damage...?

I AM having a heck of a time following this story line...

and Miren owes the house next door.. WTF!!...you mean Reyyan could HAVE -BEEN' moved out..
HOW THE HECK..hav you been married with no assets to show for it... where is her money$$,car$$ housekeys??.. she is an adult or what??..they have been portraying her as A 20++...what married, can get pregnant.... but CAN NOT KEEP a cell phone?? WTF!!!??

Iam not happy with this new Reyyan...they killed Elif and killed off the strong Reyyan too!!
and enough of the macho sexual energy form Miren, but Reyyan has to act demure and shy and sexually naive /reticent...sick of it .sick of the neo-virgin act..!!

how many dang gone letters are there??...Make -it-make-sense??!!

Many thanks, Susanlynn and Halimacandy, for your terrific comments.

Susanlynn, I absolutely LOVED your summary! Yep, as far as I can tell, you got it right. And I'm happy to see that both you and I are feeling somewhat mystified and uneasy about Gorgeouscreepy.

Halimacandy, I now see that you, too, are having a hard time making sense of all this. Welcome to the club! As for infantile Reyyan, I think/hope we're likely to see "Co-dependent-No-More Reyyan" surfacing again. Admittedly, it's frustrating to see her disappear. As for the letters, Dilsah apparently wrote a lot to Hazar, but most of them have disappeared (because of a fire or a robbery, I don't recall which). Esma apparently had the two letters she tried to give to Hazar, but the second one, in which Dilsah tells Hazar that Miran is his son, has now been destroyed by Gorgeouscreepy (aka Aslan). In addition to those letters, however, there are apparently some letters that Azize insisted that Dilsah write, saying what Azize wanted her to say. It's one of those letters that Azize has now pulled out of her storage chest. It's easy to imagine the harm she could create with it.

Herc

Thank you Juanita for your recap with such a hard to follow storyline at present. Unlike a few of you, I do admire that Reyyan is doing “whatever it takes” to stay married to Miran. It is “true” love, imho, to deny who you are and what you want for the greater good of your relationship. No matter what Miran does, how foolish he acts, how much he howls at the moon like a wolf, or throws jealous fits——-Reyyan loves him. Most of the time Miran isn’t my favorite person, but he never had either the opportunity or knowledge on how to “really” treat a woman, cause Azize has been his only teacher. Not sure if Mehmet would’ve been helpful in showing him how to treat a woman, cause we haven’t really been privvy to the inside-outs of the marriage relationship between Dilsah and Mehmet. We know Dilsah didn’t love Mehmet, but we don’t know how he treated her, only how Azize treated her.

Aslan, is another snake from what I’ve seen so far, or just maybe mental illness is an inherited trait? I don’t care what Azize has done to Sultana in sending her to a mental institution, but Sultana must’ve always had that trait, and Azize capitalized on it like she does with every weakness she comes into contact with. If anything, Sultana’s cruel husband drove her crazy, and then her “ killing” him without actually doing the deed, has probably pushed her a bit over the edge……..As for Aslan, before the note revealing Miran’s true heritage, he was probably jealous and envious of Miran because Azize chose to keep Miran and not him.

Thank you again Juanita! Much appreciated!

I did get caught up today but I watched both Tuesday and today's episodes and once again I am afraid to accidentally comment something from today thinking it was yesterday so I will make more general observations and less specific story comments this time.

The mothers in this story are horrible! With the exception of Meryem and I suppose Fatma's mom because she died via circumstances beyond her control. But everyone else pretty much sucks. The rotten ricos mom's are all so concerned about saving their sons (despite their guilt) that they blame the victim and/or victimize new people (Meltem/Nil) in the name of their precious hijos. Perhi seems like she may have woken up but she did enough in the beginning. Murat's mom is Muka, enough said. Kerim's bio-mom committed suicide and left him orphaned, I give some consideration to mental illness and the fact that she didn't intend to hurt him but still the damage was done. Mustafa's mom was evil to Fatma and is judgmental and rude to Hacer. I almost wonder if the writers had something against mothers.

I am 99% sure it was Tuesday that Kerim calls Fahr papa and agrees to go to the airport to say goodbye to him - maybe! The look on Fahr's face when he heard those words was really sweet.

Also 99% sure it was Tuesday when Fahr's right hand man (name is escaping me currently) is walking the halls of the courthouse in listening range of many talking about Hacer!!! Seems like an out of character slip up when they have been so efficient and covert up til now. Of course Mustafa overhears...sigh

I still like Deniz. She had some moments and the stuff especially with questioning Fatma about what happened was difficult but I try to see it from her POV. She waited all her life to meet her brother and the time finally comes. She's excited and nervous and 'too much' because she so desperately wants to be accepted. And she had no idea and no way to expect the truth would be anywhere near as horrible as it is. She sure learned that the hard way! She's maybe a little annoying but unlike Muka she's annoying with good intentions so I forgive her and I think she is good for Kerim.

While watching last night I could hear, coming from far away, a definite Noooooooo! as all of Viewerville cried out as we watched Gorgeouscreepy burn that very important letter.

Juanita, your recap was superb! I loved all your descriptions and asides.

I think what I saw when Azize and Aslan were in the cemetery was a small, almost deformed looking stone that was supposed to be Baby Aslan's gravestone.

It's kind of weird the way Azize keeps saying she loves Aslan. As far as we can tell, she's never spent a minute in his presence. I suppose driver/robot/hired killer Mahmoud probably spied on him in those boarding schools. I guess it's what these people seem to think is of primary importance...blood. Reyyan was devastated to discover her she doesn't have Hazar's blood. Nasuh rejected her until she was an adult because of not having Hazar's blood.

After I stopped groaning over the burnt letter, I realized that three people know about it: Aslan, Mahfouz, and Sultana. So someone has to tell this and the rest have to believe it.

I just feel like screaming with frustration every time Miran ruins the whole plan by insisting on being with Reyyan, risking a lot. And I knew as soon as he said he had a surprise that it would be Mavi.

I thought Hazar said that the three of them, including Gul, were going to go where Zehra has been. I doubt this will happen, though.

Yep, Aslan is toootallly into Reyyan. And, I think that now he knows Miran isn't his cousin, he'll feel all right about going after her.

I was quite confused about Azize forcing Dilsuh to write those letters. Was it because she wanted Hazar to come for Dilsuh and get killed by Mehmet?

herc

Thanks very much, carmella, for your always interesting insights. I'm glad/relieved to know that you too find the present story line hard to follow. As I was recapping last night, I kept wondering/fearing that it was just me.

You make a good case for Miran's behavior, but whatever helped to create it, I still find the instant rages, yelling, jealousy, and insistence on doing things his way rather off-putting. I can't imagine having someone like that as a partner, even if his devotion is often admirable.

I confess that for a while, I would have been happy had Reyyan dumped Miran and gone with Aslan, but now that he's increasingly Gorgeouscreepy (thanks Susanlynn!), I'm glad she hasn't fallen for him. As for Sultana, I still don't know what to make of her. I think both she and Miran have been warped by living under Azize's reign for so many years. What's equally puzzling is how Firat has remained mentally more stable. At least, I think he is.

herc

Many thanks, novelera, for your wonderfully insightful comments. I too noticed that small stone at the gravesite, but somehow it didn't occur to me that that was baby Aslan's tomb. It seems so clear, now that you've pointed it out.

Yes, I too could hear Viewerville's prolonged Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!!! when Gorgeouscrazy burned the letter. Actually, at least five people know about the letter: in addition to Aslan, Mahfouz, and Sultana, there's Esma and Zehra. Here's hoping that means that the truth will out.

The explanation you propose for Azize's forcing Dilsah to write the letters is plausible, but I assumed that she wanted the letters as "proof" that Dilsah loved Mehmet and not Hazar, and perhaps too that Dilsah was unfaithful to the husband who loved her. After all, Azize didn't send the letters. She has presumably kept them in her treasure chest to use if and when she feels they are needed. One likely possibility is to show the letter to Miran. Then again, the first of the two letters Esma tried to pass on to Hazar has surfaced, and in it Dilsah says she loves Hazar. So perhaps Azize's letter also offers some other terrible lies that could make Miran hate her (her stated fear), such as her being a "loose woman" who was unfaithful to her loving husband. It's likely we'll find out. And it may temporarily make Miran think that perhaps Azize's version of history is the true one. Arrgh.

Gorgeouscreepy = tall, dark, handsome , strong , silent ....but creepy.

I guess the galan is still Miran...yip yip yip and not the Big Dog ( Bow wow wow ) as I had hoped . Que Lastima.

Oops, thanks Susanlynn, for reminding me that he's Gorgeouscreepy, not Gorgeouscrazy.

Miran’s behavior is very off-putting Juanita! Lol! But how could a young, impressionable, hurting boy learn how to properly love anyone from a woman filled with so much hate and rage herself! Had Granny Sukran raised Miran, we would have a totally different galan! Miran had nowhere to put all of his aggression after his daily breakfast, lunch and dinner of hate-meal!

As for Firat, he’s always had Esma to buffer him from that constant diet that Azize was dishing out. Unfortunately Esma was not strong enough to save Miran. Azize is a force to be reckoned with now! Can you imagine what they had to deal with with her as a younger Azize?!?!

herc

Letters, letters, and more letters. Dilsuh wrote letters to Hazar while he was away in the military that were delivered to him. Hazar had those and, IIRC, mentioned them to Miran to prove that his mother loved him (Hazar). But he had to follow up stating that the letters had burned in a very convenient fire.

Now we heard that Azize had Dilsuh write letters to...someone.

And Esma had two letters hidden away, one I think just a love letter to Hazar that Miran has seen and compared with the handwriting on the back of a picture of his mother. And, yes, the second letter about Miran's parentage that Aslan just burned up, causing great distress here on the Patio.

herc

I am traveling for work and so late to this recap party. Juanita, your recap was super! The comments are terrific! Add me to the Patio members screaming nooooooo, when Aslan burned “The Letter.”

I don’t even know what else to say but “thank you” Juanita and I am very confused about what is going on!

• Azize fingers the diary…thinks she couldn’t keep Elif safe from the world…What Elif needed was protection from her…but she doesn’t see that. She continues with her selfish thoughts. What’s her next move to protect her grandkids.

Many thanks, Nett, for this helpful recap. You covered just about everything very concisely.

I see I may have been wrong in an earlier comment when I said that perhaps Azize was forcing Dilsah to admit to being unfaithful to Mehmet. Tonight's flashback can be seen in that light, but my guess is that Azize was also trying to set Hazar up to be killed. I found it interesting and admirable that Dilsah tried using different handwriting to signal that something was amiss.

Yes, Miran was in full Bull mode in this episode. Yuck! Reyyan was fed up with his antics, but I was even more fed up. He has the emotional maturity and self control of a 10-year-old, though that may be being unfair to 10-year-olds.

In this episode, I think we see the first explicit acknowledgement that Aslan is attracted to Reyyan and wants to be there for her when she tires of Miran. Mahfouz confronts Aslan: "Do you want revenge or do you want Reyyan?"

What's most surprising to me is that even though Mahfouz has been working closely with Aslan, when he hears Aslan wonder whether Azize saw the photos of Reyyan, Mahfouz wonders "What photos?" How can he not know about the secret room and the wall of photos of Reyyan??

I'm surprised at how poorly made the locks on houses are. Aslan has no trouble picking the lock on the house Miran bought next to the Sadoglu konak. Perhaps the lock isn't quite so important in that case, but the lock on Aslan's grand house is just as easily picked by Mahmoud. Aslan is very concerned about security, but he puts trivial locks on the doors of his house. Huh??

One amusing thing was Gonul's wish that perhaps Reyyan might become interested in the guy Miran fought with. She wonders who he is, not realizing that he is her brother!

Fatmagul #46 cuts and comments

Slight cut: Nil at Rose Kitchen. After Rahmi says the Yasarans will pay for everything, Nil becomes upset. She quickly pays for the ayran and leaves without drinking it. Everyone wonders, what’s the deal with her? Sinem says maybe she has a similar story to Fatma’s.

The end of the scene where Fahr came to tell about following Mustafa and pick up Deniz was cut. Fahr leaves with Deniz. Deniz says who does he (Kerim) think he is? As if he’s the only one who’s suffered. Fahr says it’s okay. Deniz calls Kerim ungrateful again. Can’t he thank you once for helping him? I think you should stop bothering with him. He will never appreciate anything. She tells her father, let’s go home, we’re obviously not helping. Let’s not make mom wait. Fahr says they can leave right after the trial. Deniz wants him to promise. All Fahr says is get in the car.

Fatma is watching from the window and waves to Fahr. He waves back and looks so sad. Kerim goes upstairs to the kitchen, Fatma follows. Muka comments on Kerim’s behavior towards his father. Fatma tells Kerim, your dad can understand your feelings. You don’t need to express them in words. Kerim doesn’t say anything and drinks a glass of water. He looks remorseful and Fatma calls it. Kerim says, I don’t want him here. I don’t want him to claim me as family. I want him to leave me alone.

Later that night, Fatma is awake in bed. she hears a noise outside the door and gets up to check it out. It’s Kerim, who has gone down to Kadir’s desk and starts looking through files. Fatma catches him and wants to know what he is doing. Kerim says he couldn’t sleep, and he thought he’d go through some files to refresh his memory on a few things before the trial. His answer makes her feel a bit uncomfortable and she goes upstairs.
When she’s gone Kerim continues to search for what he really wants: Mustafa information.

Cut: Halide sees a newspaper article with Fatma and Kerim and is alarmed when she realizes who Kerim really is. That’s why she runs outside to check on Mustafa’s convo with Kerim.

Cut: Erdo leaves phone messages for Nil begging her to believe he’s innocent. Hilmiye advises him to give up. He can’t because he loves her. Erdo cries like a baby.
Cut: Peri refuses to go to the trial. With all that’s been in the news she says, how can she go and hold her head up. Resat says he won’t force her but asks her not to let Leman attend the trial. He’s asking for Selim’s sake. Leman has the potential to ruin everything. Hate me if you want, he says, but don’t ruin Selim’s future.

Peri does her best to ignore him and tend to her flowers, while Resat lays a huge guilt trip on her. It works and Peri reluctantly calls Leman. She’s not home she’s at the cemetery. Resat thinks that’s great and Peri should go meet her there. She walks away and Resat calls out, please…please.

Cut: We see the TV broadcast of the lawyers for both sides speaking to the press after the trial. Meryem is watching with Fahr, Deniz and Sinem. Muka and Rahmi watch in their room. Fatma is watching alone in her room. Kerim has been outside. Kerim goes to Fatma’s room. She opens the door and starts to cry.

Fatmagul #46 cuts and comments, continued

Don’t cry, Kerim tells her, you did a great job today. Okay, it’s not over yet, but everyone heard your voice. It will be over next time, he assures her. June 13 will be a day of rejoicing. Fatma tells Kerim she is so tired. No matter how tired or worn out, he replies, we opened up a bright path, we can’t stop now. She starts crying again. Remember there is still hope....for you, and for a lot of other people who went through what you did. He puts his hand on her face and tells her again, don’t cry.

He asks her if she wants to take a walk. No, but she would like to sit outside and get some air.

Cut: Kadir and Omer go to the hospital to see Leman. Her doctor says she’s been sedated. Munir shows up and asks if they are here to abuse Leman. No, Omer says, we are trying to find out what happened. Kadir flat out accuses Munir and Co. of having something to do with the accident. Munir is pissed, he says my sister was in that car! Yes, Kadir replies, and you wanted to silence Leman. The argument echoes in the hospital hallway and can be heard in Peri’s room.

Cut: Fatma tells Kerim that she’s going with Rahmi tomorrow morning to visit their parent’s graves. She asks Kerim if he wants to come. He says ok. She tells him he can visit his mom, too, if he wants. [I thought that scene at Enise’s grave was heartbreaking.]

Muka was at her most disgusting when she read those horrible newspaper articles to Fatma with delight!

I also felt emotional when Kerim called Fahr, “baba”. That was the end of Turkish ep 51. I guess Kerim has transferred his anger from his father to his mother.

Cut: after Kerim hangs up from his call to Fahr, he tells Fatma not to say anything… for now. They share a happy hug. But then they notice reporters taking pics of them. Kerim sends Fatma in the house and he confronts the reporters. A reporter asks Kerim, you were also there that night. Kerim, what do you know about that night to talk about it? She replies she’d like to know more. Rahmi and Meryem come out to stop things from escalating. [Going to the press has had good and bad results.]

That's it for #46.

Thank you Nett for your recap! You cleared a couple things up for me, and things made a little bit more sense. I’m still not where I’d like to be in this story, but probably none of us are. Still awaiting that “Aha” moment! One thing’s for sure, there’s no mystery in Miran’s behavior! He really has absolutely no control of his reactions or emotions! He puts 10 yr olds to shame, like Juanita pointed out! His antics make his love for Reyyan a farce, and I’m glad she stood her ground in driving that point home! He seriously needs some ashwaganda and behavior modification. Who wants to live a life of constant drama!?!? Firat had the right idea. Take your wife and run! Sadly, Miran is still too entwined in finding out what Azize is up to and why. I’m a firm believer that all of this mayhem, mystery, and complete manipulation is directly related to the relationship between Azize and Nasuh. Everyone else is simply “their” collateral damage.

As calm and good looking as Aslan is, he’s also damaged goods and appears to think that Reyyan is part of his salvation or that he really has a right to her because of all he’s been through? Why doesn't a handsome guy like him have women beating his door down? At least one! Aslan is a tortured soul and his monument to Reyyan tells me that he’s a hop, skip and jump from the looney bin. He’s a little bit more on the quiet smart-crazy side, but he’s very sloppy. Not as unhinged as Miran, cause Miran, in all his ridiculousness, has mastered the art of letting it out however annoying and unpleasant it may be, lol.

Not sure what to make of Gonul? Is she deluded or what? Even if Reyyan were an alien from the planet kookamunga, Miran will never look at Gonul as a life partner. And why is she back to setting her sights on him? I don’t believe that she’s really in love with Miran either. It’s like he’s a prized possession to her or something. They’re barely in the same room together so she can’t be picking up any vibes from him. I just don’t get her. Look at Azat Gonul! He’s the man for you. You can both heal each other’s wounds…….
Thanks again Nett! Much appreciated!

Nett, your stream of consciousness writing style provjdes all the details of the crazy ride that we are on.

Mir is out of control , but his intuition seems to be on full alert about Aslan as it was about Harun earlier in this tale . How convenient that Azat happened by as Reymir were arguing along the road , and then that Mir was stuck in a traffic jam and spied Rey and Aslan sitting together at that cafe. Mir may have anger management issues and throws temper tantrums like a two-year old , but he has Aslan's number.

A student once told me about a saying in his country , " My cousin and I against the world, but my brother and I against our cousin . " I have taught brothers and cousins , so I get it . Now we know that Aslan is Azat's cousin , and Mir is not his cousin . It's complicated .

Let's see what happens if Mahfoux has to choose between Rey and crazy Aslan.

Does Gonul not know that Aslan is her brother? I thought she knew.

Thanks so much, Nett! Loved your recap and the snark as well, especially about Azize lying: "What's new, Patio?"

Speaking of Azize I was pretty shocked. She had about 5 seconds of remorse after discovering she drove her beloved granddaughter to her death. This reveal explains Elif's isolation and out-of-character behavior before she walked into the lake. I believe she took her own life so that the man she loves, Azat, could have children with someone else.

I'm starting to wonder if my memory is right. I remember seeing Cihan reading Elif's diary in Azat's bedroom. I thought he tore out the pages where she writes about Sultana letting her uncle die in the car instead of pulling him out. That would make sense that Gonul had the diary and wasn't shocked. But then the camera dwelt on Azize putting it in a drawer and seemingly not having read anything except the page Gonul showed her.

For most of the dizi Sultana has been an accomplice in Gonul's plan to get Miran back. Last night she told her daughter the truth. Good for her.

There was plenty of Yaren smirking as Nasuh went back to blaming Reyyan for everything.

This is a dizi/telenovela love story, so the couple will end up happy. But Miran's behavior is a red flag for spousal abuse. When he was trying to get her to forgive him for socking Aslan, he said the very words that made me think it. "I only did it because I love you so much." And he's SO possessive. As Reyyan said, all of her problems recently have been because of his insisting on being with her, despite his supposed plan of convincing Azize he's on her side.

Fatmagul

DearDondi, thank you for another great recap . i continue to be impressed by the excellent writing and acting. Everything seems so real as opposed to Hercai where I am usually scratching my head in
Disbelief at what the actors are saying and doing as people stand around like statues staring at the person delivering his\her soliloquy.

These characters In Fatmagul cry, laugh, prepare meals, knit sweaters,Watch tv ,Set the table, study, plant gardens, shop, weld, repair vases as they struggle through their problems and woes. No matter what is unfolding with their struggles , they still have to do what is necessary to live their day to day lives just as we all must do. That's what makes this show feel believable .

Kerim is on his hero's journey and so is Fatmagul. As in real life , that journey does not take an easy , straightforward path. Maybe these characters can serve as models for us in our own journeys .

Fatmagul is becoming stronger and stronger . She is even strong and confident enough now to be able to offer Kerim comfort and advice about his father .

The scene at the cemetery reminded me of Omer's scene at tbe beginning of Kara Para Ask. The Turkish dizis seem to all have cemetery scenes . There are certainly plenty in Hercai.

Erdo is in love with Nil ...ha. This guy is going down the rabbit hole.

herc

Novelera, I too think I remember Cihan tearing pages out of Elif's diary. But the diary that he found on the floor and tore pages from was old and battered, whereas the one that Azat gave to Gonul was in pristine condition. I think there were at least two diaries--the older one Cihan found on the floor and a more recent one that Azat found and gave to Gonul. (Certainly if Elif had been keeping a diary for a number of years, there would have been more than one volume.)

herc

Ah, Juanita! That is an explanation for your noticing that the first diary looked quite used. I had been thinking maybe whoever places items in dizi/TN scenes just didn't use the same prop later when we see the diary given to Gonul.

Fatmagul #47 part 1

Halide is angry when Mustafa brings Hacer home and says she’s not living under the same roof with her. I hope you’re happy with that slut, she says, forget I’m your mother. Hacer shrinks in the entryway. Halide continues, [Turkish] You gave your dad a heart attack and now you’re killing me! Musto blurts, she’s pregnant. She’s carrying your grandchild. I can’t abandon her because you won’t accept her.

Musto pleads with his mother to accept her. Let her kiss your hand. Head down, Hacer approaches Halide and takes her hand. Halide pulls it away and goes to her room. Musto tells Hacer to have patience.

Deniz is on a souvenir shopping spree. She blathers on about all the stuff she bought but Fahr looks distracted. Deniz picks up on it. Dad, he said he would come. He said “maybe”, Fahr replies. But he called you “baba”, Deniz reminds him. He has accepted you. Fahr says he hasn’t forgiven me. Deniz thinks saying baba means Kerim forgives. All Fahr wants right now is to see his son one last time before he goes. Deniz is optimistic but Fahr is not.

Kerim goes to Fatma’s room. She is choosing something she made to give to Deniz. Kerim’s eyes fix on the wedding dress hanging in the wardrobe. They smile at each other. Fatma wants his opinion on Deniz’ gift. He looks at Fatma and says, beautiful. He’s not looking at the gift. Fatma calls him on it and he says they are all beautiful, she will like any.

Fatma says the gift is not very valuable. But Kerim says it is invaluable if Fatma’s hands made it. Fatma just wants Deniz to have something to remember them. Kerim says she will. We gave her many memories.

Muka shows up to stir. How about doing something after the airport? I’m bored. Fatma immediately turns to look at Kerim. He asks, are we going to the airport together? Muka says it was Meryem’s idea. Muka calls out to her to confirm. Meryem says she thought that Kerim would need them to be there. Kerim is ticked. Meryem says they won’t go if that’s what he wants. Kerim says, do what you want. Muka comments and Fatma reminds her this is a sensitive subject for Kerim. Meryem says they won’t all fit in the same car anyway.

Kadir comes home and Muka says, there’s the second car! Everyone comes to greet Kadir. He fills them in on Leman. She’s in very bad shape. She won’t be of help.

We see Leman strapped to her bed, with her hands bandaged. Munir tells Resat, the report will be ours. They laugh. Munir adds, they need to be sure her condition is chronic. How disgusting that Resat says, let’s pray that it is. Resat then says, look what we’ve come to. Munir doesn’t feel sorry for Leman at all. She’s unhinged. She shot you and she was going to screw us at the trial. Once we get the report, Leman can talk all she wants and no one will care.

Hilmiye calls Yadigar. Peri is well enough to be transferred to Istanbul. She asks Yadi to pack a bag for her. The call is interrupted by a very drunk Erdo going crazy out on the patio. He’s smashing flower pots with a metal bar and cursing Fatma and Kerim.

Yadi hurries off the phone without telling Hilmiye and goes out. Erdo yells, I did it! So what! Sentence me to execution! I’m willing to pay the price! All this is that damn girl’s fault! Yadi calls out to Erdo and he stops. They are both crying. She tells him his mother will be back soon, his yenge is doing better. Erdo screams a little more. Yadi tries to get him back into the house.

Fatmagul #47 part 2

Kadir fills everyone in over dinner. The Namlis' accident was really an accident according to the report. The driver lost control at high speed and there was an argument going on in the car. Omer stayed in Izmir to follow up with Leman. And the phone companies are going over the records. Fatma mentions Meltem backing away because she felt too exposed.

Kadir has more news. Fahr called him. Muka interjects that Kerim called his father and Kadir is pleased at that. Kerim ignores it and asks about Fahr’s call. Musto found the country house, Kadir says and she’s back with Musto.

There is cut conversation about this: Was Hacer’s letter just to get back at Musto? Kerim still thinks Musto is planning something. Muka wants to know about Fahr’s house. Kadir says he didn’t see it but it’s in the forest, away from any settlement. Muka is impressed that Fahr invests here even if he’s in Australia. He thinks about his son, she says. Kerim doesn’t like hearing that.

Cut: Hacer tries to talk to Halide. I’m carrying a child and there’s nothing I wouldn’t do for him. I understand you, Hacer says, I know that you are harsh with me because you only want your son to be well. Halide replies, you don’t know. You’re a liar. You came to our door and said, “you won’t see me again.” And now you got to him with your child.

You don’t think I’m worthy, Hacer says, you are judging me on my past. I paid the price for my mistakes. I closed that chapter and started over with Mustafa. He married Hacer, not Asu. So accept Hacer as your daughter. I’ve never lied to Mustafa, she tells Halide, I’m with him because I love him. I don’t expect you to hold me in your arms right away but please give me some time to show you who I really am. Halide doesn’t respond and hasn’t even looked at Hacer this whole time. Hacer leaves. end cut.

Cut: Fatma wraps Deniz’ gift in her room, then goes to the kitchen. Kerim is in his room looking at pics. He holds a pic of him with his mother and father. His father’s face is cut out. He puts his finger through the hole. Fatma sees the light under Kerim’s door. She almost knocks but then goes back to her room instead. He keeps staring at the picture. End cut

Fahr and Deniz are at the airport, ready to go. Fahr looks around. Fahr tells Mumtaz to stay close to Kerim, keep in touch with Kadir and keep him (Fahr) informed. Fahr gets a call from Hacer to wish him a good trip. She is with Musto and he also wants to thank you for helping. Fahr says she can count on him even over the distance.

They cut: Fahr waits as long as possible for Kerim to show. Finally he looks at Deniz and says, he said “maybe”. They turn to head to the gate. Muka’s voice shouts, Deniz! The whole family arrives. Deniz calls to her father. He turns and father and son look at each other.

Deniz gives her brother a hug. Fahr greets the rest of the family. Kerim approaches his father and they go to the side. Fahr says, [Turkish] you have made me very happy. I’m glad you came. Kerim replies, this is the second time I’m seeing you off. I wanted to see your face this time.

Fahr takes Kerim’s hand, “oğlum”- my son. Fatma watches. Fahr says, this time the separation won’t be so long. If you want, we won’t separate ever again. Come with me to Australia. You (and Fatma) can live there. Your children can be born and grow up there. My greatest dream will become reality. A great family despite the time we lost. First we learn to walk, Kerim replies, then we run and time will heal the wounds.

Fatmagul #47 part 3

Don’t punish me any longer, Fahr says. Kerim takes the pic out of his pocket. I cut your face out of this picture when I thought you weren’t coming back for me. [Turkish] This void is my childhood, he says. I fell into this void every night before I slept and whenever I thought about my mother, and at Eids and festivals. As Meryem Abla tried to fill it, the void got bigger. It would pull me deeper. Yes, I know what the face looks like now, but I don’t know how I’m going to replace this piece I cut out.

Fahr says, you can do it if you want to. Kerim says he will at least try. Fahr can’t resist and he embraces Kerim. Fahr tells Meryem, you raised a great man. Thank you. They hug. Meryem says say no more, she’s getting too emotional. Just about everyone is feeling weepy. [if you don’t feel moved by this you must be made of stone]

Fahr entrusts Kerim to Meryem once again, and to all of them. He tells Kadir, my son looks at you like a father. You opened your arms and your heart to him. Kadir says thanks to them, I have a family. Fahr says, let me know if you need anything. Mumtaz will always be here to help. What is mine is yours, don’t forget that. You can use the house for vacations. Muka pipes up it’s a great idea.

Fahr tells Fatma, I am sure you will leave this all behind and you will be happy. Now, I will be your father, too. Remember I will always be here. You can count on me. Deniz has the idea to take a picture for her mother. The whole group and then one with the four, Deniz, Fatma, Kerim and Fahr. Kerim isn’t smiling. Then one with just three, Fatma Kerim and Fahr. Kerim hesitates to move in close, but his father puts his arms around his son’s shoulder and pulls him in. Fahr gives the biggest smile. Kerim looks to emotionally confused to smile. This isn’t goodbye, Fahr tells Kerim, this is a new beginning. I know, Kerim replies. Another hug and Fahr kisses Kerim a couple of times, too.

Cut: Fahr walks away crying. Deniz gives one last hug to Kerim. Finally, Fahr turns and waves to everyone. Kerim doesn’t wave back. Fahr turns to Deniz, he will never forgive me. Kerim says, let’s go. Muka says, may God unite you again. Amen, Rahmi says. Kerim turns one last time to watch his father walk away.
Resat is also at the airport. He talks to a swarm of reporters about all the slander, etc. Muka notices.

Cut: Deniz sends Kerim a cropped pic of him and his dad. Fatma wants to look. Big smile from Fahr, blank look for Kerim.

After the airport, Kerim suggests seeing a movie. He tells Fatma she can choose the movie and to call Meryem. Fatma chooses, “Dedemin Insanları” My Grandfather’s People. [I saw this and liked it very much. It’s about the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in the 1920s.] Meryem is familiar with the movie, too, and it’s like her mom’s story. Muka remembers the last time she saw a movie with this actor, she went into labor. She chooses to take a walk and tells Rahmi to take Murat to see a cartoon.

Sinem calls Fatma and tells her Resat is giving a press conference. Don’t answer unknown numbers, she warns. Sinem will call Fatma later. Some young women in the theater lobby recognize Fatma and voice their support.

Ha, Nil will be one of Peri’s doctors in Istanbul. Reporters swarm Erdo as he arrives at the hospital. Hilmiye speaks with Nil. Nil sets her straight, she’s here to take care of Peri. Leave the personal stuff alone. Erdo appears and asks Hilmiye about Peri. He ignores Nil.

Before he turns his phone off in the theater, Kerim takes another look at the pic Deniz sent.

Munir calls Resat, they received the report on Leman. It’s good for a week but Leman is in bad shape so it will likely be extended. Cut: Leman has aural hallucinations of Vural. I’m coming baby, she says to him. She starts screaming when she can’t loosen the straps to get up.

Fatmagul #47 part 4

They cut this scene in the movie theater: Meryem cries and Kadir gives her a tissue. There is a scene in the movie where a little boy watches his parents dance together. This gets to Kerim and he starts sobbing. Fatma puts her hand on his. And she sheds a couple of tears, too.

The Yasaran press conference full of lies starts. You can discuss if you like.
Movie is over and it’s crowded. Kerim wants to get out of there quick before they are spotted. When they arrive home, the press is swarming the house. Kerim hustles Fatma into the yard and house asap. Stupid Muka starts talking to the press! She says Kerim accepted money from the Yasarans. Fatma didn’t touch it, she donated it. Kadir has to push her and an agitated Rahmi away.

Cut: In the house, Murat cries because he is scared. Meryem and Muka argue over what Muka told the reporters. Kadir says this isn’t good for their case. Everyone starts yelling at Muka. Muka shouts back, what I said was true! Kerim wants to go back outside, but Kadir and Meryem hold him back. Fatma runs to her room and bawls.

Yadigar will stay with Peri in the hospital. Resat senses something is up with her.
Kerim goes to Fatma. He wants to talk, she doesn’t. He says, you’re crying because of me. My mistakes came back to haunt us. Fatma says the money was donated. My heart is at ease. We didn’t touch it. But I accepted it , Kerim replies, and I regret it. He says he will speak with the press tomorrow. She doesn’t want him to. Whatever we say will be used against us, she says. She keeps sobbing. Kerim says he won’t talk.

Cut: Next morning the press descends on Kerim as he leaves the house. They want a response to the Yasarans’ accusations. Kerim is smart this time, he says nothing and drives off. Kadir drives up and the press starts in on him. He’s going to get an injunction for them to stop coming to the house. They are harming the case. Please be considerate and leave us alone, he asks.

Kadir brings the newspaper into the house. There’s the story about accepting the money and is Fatmagul lying? Even Muka has mercy this time and takes the paper away.
On the other hand, the Yasarans enjoy reading the paper for once. Erdo tells Selim he’s playing hard to get with Nil.

The reporters swarm Kerim’s workplace. Kerim tells them we made our statements in court. A reporter asks if they used the money to set up their business. No, Kerim says, there was a crime and the guilty ones will get their punishment. And you, the reporter asks? Whoever is guilty, Kerim replies. The reporter asks where he got the money for his truck. Kerim realizes he’s wasting his time.

Kerim’s boss is upset. Kerim tries to apologize. The boss says, I promised your father, but I can’t continue like this. Uh, oh. What did you promise my father? Boss says don’t tell him I told you. Kerim presses, what did you promise? Did my father tell you to give me a job? Kerim understands the boss’ reasons for wanting him gone. Kerim says hakkını helal et and the boss answers, helal olsun. They part ways.

Cut: Mehmet says there are reporters at Rose Kitchen, too. He tells them he knows nothing. But they are upsetting customers. Meryem tells him to close up for the day. Kadir says there’s not much they can do, the restaurant is a public place. Sinem calls and Fatma gives the phone to Meryem. Fatma doesn’t want to talk to anyone today.

Fatmagul #47 part 5

Fatma says all she wants is a normal life. Muka starts in, this is only the beginning. You can’t go anywhere. What about Kerim? Your doctor appointments? Fatma goes to her room. Rahmi comes up with a suggestion, maybe Fatma and Kerim should get away for a few days. Where could they go? Kadir and Meryem look at each other. Good idea, Kadir says.

Kadir calls Kerim and finds out he had to left his job. Kadir tells him to park the car somewhere else and walk home. Don’t let reporters see you. He tells Kerim, I’ll get you away from here for a few days.

Mumtaz drives Kerim and Fatma to the country house. He explains Fahr bought it 5-6 years ago and the land is valuable. Kerim can fix it how ever he likes. Kerim says he’s not interested. Mumtaz says the property is Kerim’s. Kerim wants nothing. We will only be here a few days, he says. Mumtaz drops them off. The fridge is full, the house has been cleaned. Enjoy. He gives Kerim the key and says, call if you need me.

Our couple enters. Fatma is hesitant. Now she is alone with Kerim again. Kerim says this will be our home. It’s only ours. Fatma processes. And we are at the end of Turkish ep 51.

Fatma says it’s nice. They look around. There’s a fireplace. Kerim checks the fridge and says we don’t have to leave till spring. [did that make Fatma nervous?] He checks the bedrooms. Fatma peeks into one. She asks, which bedroom was Hacer in? Kerim understands. Musto was here, too. Kerim wants to start a fire. Fatma prepares tea.
Resat calls Musto. We haven’t seen you for a few days. You have things to do. Are you trying to escape again? Musto says his mother is with him and Hacer returned. Resat warns Musto not to talk to the press.

Selim notices that Yadigar has been acting strange. She hasn’t looked him in the eyes since the trial.

Hacer questions Musto about the phone call and where he is off to. He reminds her that the Yasarans have his confession and his ticket to hell. He has to follow the rules until he finds a way out. He says he isn’t hiding anything from her. He didn’t cause the Namli’s accident. He swears on his mother.

Halide has just finished her prayers. Musto tells her, may God accept your prayers. Amen. When Hacer says the same, Halide ignores her. He tells him mom he has to go to the bank and other errands. Do they need anything. No, but come back soon, Hacer tells him. Hacer tells Halide she’s boiling some lime, do you want some? Halide walks away.

Kerim and Fatma enjoy their tea in front of the fire. Phone call from Rahmi. He asks if she is scared being out there so isolated and she replies she isn’t because Kerim is with her. Smile. Muka grabs the phone to tell Fatma that the reporters are at the restaurant. Meryem wants to speak to Fatma but Muka doesn’t give up the phone. Meryem calls out, everything is fine here. Muka says they are only doing take-out orders that Mehmet delivers. Meryem finally gets the phone and tells Fatma that she’s received lots and lots of letters and gifts.

Fatma fills Kerim in on what’s happening at the restaurant. Fatma says this feels like another city, not Istanbul. Kerim says, [Turkish] I’m in my father’s house after all these years. Life is full of surprises. I guess one shouldn’t talk. Fatma wonders if they have made it back to Australia yet. Probably not.

Kerim asks Fatma if she wants to take a walk. Kerim locks the doors and says they added an extra lock after Mustafa was there. Kerim pulls Fatma’s hair out of her coat. She smiles. How nice…

Fatmagul #47 part 6

Selim notes Yadi’s strange behavior again. Selim asks Erdo if Yadi overheard a conversation of his or something like that. [lol… how about a huge violent drunken meltdown where he confessed his crime?] Erdo says he doesn’t think so but has a brief flash on his meltdown. Perihan questions if Resat and Co. had something to do with the car accident. Peri issues a warning, if they hurt Leman or anyone else, she will talk.

Nil enters the room with good news. Peri won’t need another operation. She can leave the hospital soon and continue her recovery at home. Before he leaves, Erdo asks Nil if she’s read the papers. Yes she has.

Fatma and Kerim walk. Fatma wonders what made Fahr buy this place. Mumtaz found it, Kerim replies. She wonders what Australia is like. Kerim says he read about it a while ago. When you were going to go abroad, Fatma says. Yep. If you had left that day, Fatma says, nothing in your letter would have come true. And my hatred for you would have grown bigger. Good thing I didn’t go, Kerim replies.

Do you remember what you wrote, she asks? Fatma quotes the letter. Kerim quotes it, too. Fatma says she wishes she didn’t destroy the letter. But you memorized it, he says. Yes. Those words felt so real, she tells him, I was afraid I’d give into you. Each line was so moving. I memorized it before tearing it apart.

When you said, “wherever I go, I will be thinking of you”, I thought you were leaving me forever and I remember how I felt that night. I thought I hated you, but I didn’t want you to go. I was mad at myself. I felt like I was betraying myself. In that letter, I heard your voice for the first time.

A bird squawks and Fatma jumps. Kerim says, Mukaddes at home and the birds here. Fatma says maybe they shouldn’t walk so far away. Kerim wants to keep walking and hold out his hand to her. She takes it. So, that’s when you first heard my voice, Kerim asks? Yes, Fatma replies.

Yadigar watches her granddaughter. She thinks about calling Meltem.

Meltem calls her mother. She’s happy and enrolled in school. Ender tells her she’s back in Ankara. Meltem is surprised her mother didn’t tell her. Ender says she had documents to sign. Meltem asks what’s going on. Ender says she’s returning tonight, and they will talk.

Hmmm… looks like Ender is on Yasemin’s trail. She barges in on her massage session. We need to talk about something, Ender says.

More Yasaran- Musto crap. I think they want him to talk to the press and they will tell him what to say.

Cut: Fatma and Kerim return to the house and he runs in front of her to go in first. Fatma is tired of being scared. Kerim says let’s forget why we are here. No Yasarans, no Mukaddes. Fatma says we have no choice, you, me, the forest, nature. There’s nothing else around us but a full fridge.

Fatma starts dinner and Kerim chops wood. They're getting along well.

Ender calls Mustafa in tears. She needs his help. She found Yasemin and begged for the truth, to hear her say that the Yasarans were behind it. She denied it and said Turaner knew about the camera. Ender says she won’t be at ease until she finds out the truth. She asks Mustafa to find Yasemin and do something. He says he will.

Back to Fatma and Kerim playing house. They have dinner. They talk about continuing to live there. Planting a garden. We have fruit trees. We could make a chicken coop. A mill for flour? She has a big kitchen and could send out food to nearby towns. Kerim says he could build a workshop next to the house.

But Kerim says there’s no money, no work. He went back to a job his father got him. Kerim is upset. How long can we live in Kadir’s house? We have to build our own life. Fatma says we can live here. Kerim says that’s a dream. You already forgot, she asks? You said we were leaving everything behind and would look ahead.

Fatmagul #47 part 7

Kerim says he doesn’t want to upset her. Why would you, she replies. [Turkish] You’re not afraid of me? That would hurt me, he says, if you are feeling unsafe here. I wouldn’t have come if that was the case, she says.

Hacer pukes in the bathroom. Halide is at the door and brings her something to drink (thyme) to calm her stomach. It’s what helped her when she was pregnant with Mustafa. Halide asks how many weeks? 14. She asks about the baby’s gender. Hacer says they wouldn’t know for a couple of weeks. Halide thinks it’s a boy.

Halide starts asking about family. Siblings? Parents? Don’t ask, Hacer says, my parents think I’m in Germany. She used to live there and worked in a textile factory.
Musto returns. He says he has to go to Ankara for work tomorrow. Halide asks if he’s hungry and she gets up to make dinner.

Musto tells Hacer he needs her help. He has to find the woman who tricked Turaner. Hacer is ticked, a whore should know another whore? She doesn’t know Yasemin. Musto says, this woman could be my only salvation. We could leave here. I need to find someone who knows her. Do you have a contact in Ankara? She will call Sami.

Slight cut at the beginning of this scene: Kerim and Fatma play an alphabet list game. They argue over the answers, they laugh and are having fun, until there is a noise outside their door. Kerim opens the door and a dog walks right in. No one else is in sight. No collar. Fatma calls him “Lodos” after the south westerly wind in the Aegean/Mediterranean.

Cut: Muka wants to call Fatma. Meryem tells her not to. Muka’s mind goes to the gutter. She notes how happy Fatma was to leave and have alone time with Kerim. Meryem wants her to shut up. Kadir arrives and Muka comments to Meryem, “yours (as in your lover)” has arrived. Run, run, go greet him. Meryem says Muka has crossed the line.

Kadir has bad news. The reporters left their house to follow other news. Mustafa gave an interview where he spewed all the old lies about Fatma and Kerim and mentioned Muka taking money, etc. And no mention of the Yasarans.

Musto and Hacer meet with Sami. He is only going to help for Hacer’s sake. He has a lead for Musto.

Muka calls Sinem because she heard Mustafa talked about her to the press. I don’t know why Muka tells Sinem to give Musto a warning to keep his mouth shut. Then she spills dirt about Musto and his prostitute wife. You didn’t hear it from me.

Kadir and Meryem talk about Fatma and Kerim at the country house. Meryem hopes they are safe there.

Fatma and Kerim play with Lodos. Kerim gets a call from Deniz. It’s all good. Kerim didn’t tell that he lost his job. Kerim saves his father’s number in his phone “Baba”.
Erdo sees Nil smiling and laughing with another guy. He gets a call from Yasemin, she’s pissed. Turaner’s wife found me, she says, you can’t leave me hanging.

Erdo asks are you recording this? What are you talking about? Yasemin says he promised to protect her. She says she’s not recording this, and she didn’t rat him out. All she wants is help. Erdo tells her she’s wasting her time trying to get him to confess. Her money is running out, she can’t work. He warns her not to call him again or she will find out what he can do.

Seems Yasemin has tried to contact Resat, too. Erdo tells Selim that Ender found Yasemin. This is going to be a problem for the Yasarans.

And we are out.

Fatmagul

I think my part 7 turned into spam.

Fatmagul

Dondi thank you for another fantastic recap! Lots going on in this episode! Thank you as always for providing all the cuts and translations.

I was moved by the scene in the airport and I can't remember if I said this before or not but I was struck by how alike Kerim and Fahr are. And not because of circumstances in their lives but their personalities. I feel like Fahr is the grown up and mature version of Kerim. They both have big expressive emotions... Kerim has been over the top several times in trying to express love to Fatma. Fahr is bold and weepy in expressing his love for Kerim. He even said that it was his anger that caused him to leave all those years ago. I feel like we are seeing the before and after, the angry hot and the soft hearted quick to cry old man. Kerim this is your future! :)

The media stuff is harsh, beginning with them questioning her integrity just because she dared to smile and have fun during her driving lesson - apparently you must be miserable at all times if you are a rape victim??? And then of course the onslaught after the Yeserans press conference. I don't know how people can do that. I used to think I might want to be a reporter when I was younger because I love to write, but I definitely could not harass trauma victims to get a story.

I think they should have taken Muka to the movie it would be a hoot to watch her go into labor at the movies plus the siblings could have the tie of commonality to bond them!

Fatma and Kerim alone for the first time, cute and a little uncomfortable. Kerim looks so thrilled and Fatma is definitely less sure. The talk on their walk was sweet and telling. I was wondering if maybe the statement 'i heard your voice for the first time' had a different significance in Turkish because it seems a little more impactful then the meaning in English. Kerim had asked her previously when she first realized she loved him and I wondered if that is what she was trying to say? The letter made her fall in love with him? Maybe??

Fatma

Dondi, your Part 7 is no longer spam :-)

Fatmagul

Thank you, dondi356.

Hacer should have known better than to get pregnant. She sure knows about contraception. Or did she really want to have a baby with Mustafa? Now she is tied to a slave of some disgusting people. She said it herself. Halide keeps staying on her high horse. Mustafa wasn't worthy of Fatmagul and also not worthy of Hacer, not the other way around.

Nice to see Fatmagul and Kerim alone in the country house. They are learning to be with each other and are making progress. And now they have Lodos the dog to keep them entertained.

Fatmagul

Lucio, I totally agree! I was thinking that same thing, a woman in Hacer's profession/ex-profession would know how to prevent pregnancy and this is the second time Hacer has gotten pregnant. It doesn't track.... unless she does want to which is sad considering who Mustafa is and how he treats her.
