Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #28
Part 1 of 5 Happy New Year Everyone! May 2022 bring much Health and Happiness to All!

In the arms of the black booted, would-be rescuer, Reyyan awakens slightly and looks up at the blurred face (maybe Harun?) before passing out.

With the return of Mavi sin Reyyan, Hazar panics and calls Miran, who also panics and jumps on his horse. Cihan tells Handan that he knows what he is going to do and heads out. (this was cut from the Telemundo episode).

We see Miran galloping across the meadows calling for Reyyan. We also see Reyyan lying in the back seat of a car that arrives at the cabin. The good Samaritan/stalker/note master carries her to the bench outside the cabin on the porch. He gently puts her down and strokes the hair off her face. Miran stops his horse, agonizing that he cannot find Reyyan. He gets a text message saying that Reyyan is at the cabin. Calling Hazar, they both head for the cabin, as the good Samaritan/stalker/note master drives off.

Esma and Azize arrive from shopping. Azize tells Esma to let Mahmoud unload the groceries, she is heading up to her room to rest. (It is exhausting being the villainous hag in this dizi). As she is about to enter her room, she senses someone behind her. It is Cihan. She demands to know what he is doing there and what does he want? Cihan demands to know where Reyyan is.

The normal “pleasantries” are exchanged and Mahmoud shows up with his very large pistol. Cihan gets the call that Reyyan has been found, but he threatens Azize again. She tells him he shouldn’t worry so much about Reyyan but more about that yellow centipede of a daughter who is really the one destroying his family. Cihan wants to know if she knew that Reyyan was stepdaughter to Hazar. She says, yes and even if Reyyan wasn’t his blood, Hazar still was burned by the venganza, just as Azize has been burned. More threats as Cihan leaves claiming he is going to get to the bottom of what happened the night Dilsah died and his suspicion that there is more to her venganza than just the death of her son and daughter in law. On his way to the car, Cihan calls GT only to find that he is in Kars, supposedly on business and tells him that it is clear, Azize has something deeper going on with this venganza.

On horseback, Miran arrives at the cabin and finds Reyyan. He takes her inside and lays her on the bed. She regains consciousness, he wants to take her to the hospital, she says no. Only her wrist hurts and as she moves he touches it, they gaze into each other eyes. She asks if Hazar knows, yes, he is on the way. Miran asks her what happened? She only remembers Mavi being frightened by something, rearing up and she fell off. She asks how she got to the cabin? Miran tells her that he was about to call her when he received a text that she was here. Readjusting herself on the bed, Reyyan finds a note.

Written by the note master, this note says: “The sooner you stop believing Azize’s lies, the closer you will get to the truth.” As Miran reads the note out loud, we see that the note master or his accomplice is outside the cabin and once again drives off.

Inside the cabin, Miran is pacing saying that of course this note also refers to Azize. Who are these people? He asks Reyyan to try and remember anything else from the fall. She has told him everything she remembers. So the person who brought you here also left the note, who could in be? Reyyan says this situation is similar to when she was kidnapped and these notes have brought them closer and closer to the truth. Miran is concerned that they seem to be following them 24/7. He has a mini-Miran meltdown, but then calms down and says that she is right, they can figure out who it is later, most importantly, she wasn’t hurt and the notes have helped them come closer to the truth.

Part 2 of 5

She asks him not to tell her father anything about the notes, hugging her, he agrees. (Guess he is forgiven?).

At a make shift firing range, with psychedelic bottles lining the wall, Ayise is trying to teach Sultana how to properly use a fire arm. Sultana is a terrible shot. Ayise has to properly instruct her how to stand and hold the pistol. It is only when Ayise tells her to concentrate and visualize the target as someone she hates, that Sultana suddenly becomes an expert marksman. All she had to do was think of each target as Azize and bang, it worked. As Ayise is resetting new targets, Sultana gets a call from Cihan. He wants to meet.

Hazar arrives at the cabin, Reyyan is still pretty cool with him. Miran leaves them so they can talk. While Rey continues to feel sorry for herself, Hazar tells the story of how he and Zehra met. He says that he was destroyed after Dilsah’s death and Zehra was in bad shape, alone, abandoned and pregnant with Rey. They married but not for love. Hazar felt that he could do something to help Zehra to compensate for not being able to help Dilsah. In the end, when Rey was born, it was Zehra and Rey that saved his life. (It is a very beautiful speech, but can we go back to the firing range?).

It is only when Hazar talks about helping Rey find her bio dad that she finally reacts and says that she will talk to her mother after the baby is born, but until then, she doesn’t want to talk about her “real” dad. Hazar asks her to visit Gul, even if she doesn’t want anything to do with him. Still devastated by her refusal to forgive him, Hazar asks Miran to watch over her. He calls Miran “son” several times and does not get a negative reaction. Some progress.

Back in the cabin, Miran finally gets Reyyan to express why she is so angry and distancing herself from him. She explains that it has felt like everyone has conspired against her and all she had was herself and her anger. She wants everyone to hurt as much as she is suffering. Miran tells her that she can be angry but, in the end, the regret you feel is what destroys you.

She allows him to hug her as he talks about the regret he feels everyday for not hugging his own father more as a child. He tells a nice story about waiting up for his father, because he never saw him during the day, he ends up falling asleep and remembers his father carrying him to his bed, stroking his hair and calling him son. Miran regrets not throwing his arms around him that night, because that night, his father died. Miran wonders if he had hugged his father maybe he would have stayed with him that night. Maybe it would have changed things. He reminds Reyyan that she, unlike him, grew up with a loving father and he doesn’t want her to live with any regret. He reminds her that Hazar never lied to her, he just delayed the truth so as not to hurt her. It was Yaren who shared the truth in order to hurt her. Sitting up, Reyyan says, Miran, I have something I need to tell you. With this mini-cliffhanger, we go back to the firing range.

Sultana is so happy she has done so well in her first shooting lesson. She tells Ayise that being proficient with a firearm is good but it is the intellect to conceive a plan that works best. Cihan arrives and after some “friendly” banter, he tells her that they have the same problems with Azize based on the recent discoveries and he would like to know who Azize really is. He has done some investigating and determined that Azize left no footprints, she is an enigma. Sultana agrees that is the case and shares one bit of information, there is an Aslanbey Aunt, sister-in-law to Azize, named Fusun. Sultana does not know what happened to her as she left right after her brother died. Cihan agrees to investigate and provide Sultana with any information he discovers. All this occurs with Ayise doing her best to listen in.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #28
Part 3 of 5

Back at the cabin, Reyyan has told Miran that Azize found her bio dad and tried to give her the information. After another mini-meltdown from Miran, Reyyan convinces him not to confront HAG, because that is playing right into her hand. She tells him they need to stay away from her and her venom.

Reyyan confirms that she has no desire to met the bio dad but worries that Azize will still try to find a way to put him in her pathway. Miran still tries to defend that HAG wouldn’t stoop that low. Reyyan and the Patio are having none of that nonsense. She tells him that HAG knew about her parentage and still set Miran on the venganza.

Miran says he won’t let HAG hurt Reyyan and she says, stop making promises you cannot keep. The only way for us to save our love and our family: you must give up your venganza. After an uncomfortable silence, Reyyan turns away from him. Miran grabs her hand and says, come with me. Where? You will see, he responds.

I suppose after riding double on his horse to pick up his car, we see ReyMir in front of Esma’s casa. She doesn’t want to go in or even look at HAG. Miran says, you asked me a question, so now come with me to hear the answer. (I noticed that Reyyan has changed clothes, but Miran has not, sorry, I am just strange that way…😊). They find Azize in her favorite pacing place. Miran, in no uncertain terms, even after HAG tries to bring him back to his brainwashed place, tells HAG that he has given up his revenge!

Reyyan smiles as he takes her hand resolutely. Esma smiles slightly, while HAG stands up, in shock. Miran says, let me be clearer, I give up my revenge and I will not longer be partner to your lies, slander and sin. My revenge against Hazar Sadoglu is over, this dirty game has ended. How many times will you kill me? says HAG. I have done nothing to you, he responds, you have done it all to yourself. She tries hard to bring him back with her pathetic lines about his parents. Miran stays strong and remarkably calm saying, you have lied to me my whole life and I listened and followed blindly. But your lies and cruelty have been revealed. You created a monster out of me, but because of love, my eyes are open. You worked hard for nothing. You created true love out of a false venganza, I thank you for that. HAG then has a royal conniption fit and kicks him out of Esma’s house. She heads up to her bedroom and locks the door, boiling in hate and the fact that Miran is now completely free from the Azize collective.

Out in the patio, Reyyan looks cautiously happy and Miran looks like the weight of the world has been lifted from his shoulders. She stands looking at him and asks, is it really over? Yes, he says, it is over. I know I made huge mistakes, the venganza is over. From now one, I will dedicate my life to you, our happiness, hopefully our children and most importantly, our love. It is over. ReyMir hug. They both look truly happy. (I hope this lasts. I am happy too!) Reyyan asks him to take her to Hazar. He says he will take her anywhere she would like to go. He just wants her to be happy and be with him.

At the SADoglu (thank you Nett) konak, Handan, Harun and the Yellow Centipede are sitting around drinking tea. Cihan is pacing as the sad sack Hazar stumbles in to the courtyard. The first person he sees is Yaren, who smiles smugly at him. Hazar shouts for Melike to bring Gul to him as Cihan follows him out.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #28
Part 4 of 5

Cihan and then Handan, beg Hazar to forgive Yaren. Handan claims that Yaren is remorseful and wants to apologize. Hazar says he is not interested in her empty words or apologies, plus it is really Reyyan that Yaren must apologize to. Handan says Yaren will do both. She yells for Yaren to join them (have these people learned nothing?) and demands that Yaren apologizes to Hazar.

Of course, Yaren makes a mockery of the situation and once again says that Hazar is the one at fault and she has to apologize? When Handan says she will apologize not only to Hazar but also to Reyyan, Yaren says, I will never apologize to someone who is not a Sadoglu! Hazar goes from marshmallow to cactus and backhands Yaren, telling her to shut the heck up and never mention Reyyan’s name again!

Melike comes out with Gul and Hazar takes her hand, walking away. To his credit, after shutting Handan down, Cihan tells Hazar that indeed someone will leave the konak, but it be Yaren and not his brother. To Yaren, he says, you refuse to live in peace and harmony with your family, you made this choice. You will never step foot in this house again. To Harun, he says, take your wife and leave. Yaren does not go quietly, she vows to return back to this home, without apologizing to anyone. She stomps past Hazar, who is sheltering Gul.

More drama is going on inside the SADoglu konak as Elif has locked herself in the bedroom and refusing to let Azat in. He tells her not to act so childishly and to come out so they can talk through their problems. Through tears, she tells him she is done talking. She refuses to open the door for Hanife who brought her some soup to eat. Hanife tells Melike (who looks like she has lost weight) that Elif is locked in her room crying. Melike says Elif is upset for no reason. Azat and Reyyan are a think of the past and she needs to get over it, Azat make a mistake but he is good man.

On the balcony, Hazar is crying to Melike about how he always saw Reyyan as his daughter. He is very emotional and from behind him, coming up the stairs, Reyyan tells him you are right, you are my only father. Miran watches from the courtyard door below, as they hug. Gul sees her sister and joins the hug as Cihan and Handan welcome Reyyan back to the family fold. Reyyan asks if she can speak to Hazar in private. For a change everyone takes the hint and leaves them to talk.

Reyyan tells him that the walls of the konak are witness to the many times she shed tears but also the times of happiness, thanks to him. He starts beating himself up again for not telling her sooner but she tells him that she remembers him trying to tell her on several occasions. She retells the story he told her about a chicken taking a duckling on as her own after the duckling’s mother was lost. The chicken loved the duckling like one of its own and always protected it. She understands now what he was trying to tell her. They hug again as she calls him “father.” I will spare you the extended, sappy details. After the hug fest, she asks him to follow her down to the alleyway, where Miran is nervously pacing outside of his car.

With some dramatics, Reyyan tells Hazar how Miran confronted Azize and told her the venganza was over. It takes Miran a minute, but he finally confirms that he is ending the venganza. Hazar is relieved, overjoyed and filled with emotion. Hazar says he know Miran did this for the love of Reyyan, but there are still too many unknowns and he plans on continuing the search for what really happened that night.

Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #28
Part 5 of 5

Gul arrives and proceeds to hug Rey and Hazar. She invites Miran to join the family hug. He is still a bit awkward, but makes the attempt. She asks him to stay, as does Hazar, who says he is part of the family. Miran agrees to return after he takes care of some business.

Firat is making himself some dinner in the Aslanbey kitchen. Miran enters with a semi-smile on his face and after some back and forth, he tells Firat that he has given up his venganza. Miran semi apologizes to him and says that they have always been brothers and now found out that they have lived a life of lies, but the future is bright and hopeful. Firat is thrilled and hugs his friend/brother. Hanging on every word outside the door of the kitchen, Sultana thinks, well you might have given up on the revenge Miran, but I doubt Azize has (this was cut from Telemundo).

At the Sadoglu konak, the dinner table is set and all, except Elif, are cheerful. She listens from the balcony above as Azat apologizes to Reyyan for not telling her about her parentage. Hazar tells him to forget it, all is forgotten. Reyyan also shares the news about Miran ending his venganza. Hanife tries not to look surprised. The dinner mood without Yaren and GT (who is in Kars for some reason) is cheerful. Unfortunately, Elif’s gloomy look casts a foreshadowing of things to come.

Hanife calls Harun (wearing similar black boots as those worn by Reyyan’s good Samaritan) and tells him that Miran has given up his venganza and she doesn’t know if this is a good thing or not. He tells her to hold tight as he calls the note master and gives him/her the news. He agrees with the other person on the line that it is a bit earlier than they expected this to happen and neither seem to know if the timing is good or bad. He says he will wait for another call.

Elif is crying to herself, saying that now the venganza is over, Azat will never love her. He will always love Reyyan. Reyyan knocks on the door and asks if she can come in. Elif says no, she wants to be alone. Reyyan wants her to join them for dinner but again Elif refuses. Azat shows up and tells Reyyan that Elif has really changed and all they do is fight. As Elif listens at the door, Azat tells Reyyan that Elif thinks Azat still has feelings for her. Reyyan tells him to fix that misconception right away. Azat says, I will keep my promise. Elif, crying more, says, that is all I am to you Azat, just a promise, a promise you cannot keep.

Azize sits in her room thinking, so you gave up Miran? After all the pain I have been through, you have given up on me. Alright, I will have to take up where you left off. As she is thinking this, a huge gust of wind blows the curtains around. Azize opens her trunk of treasures and looks at the picture of her siblings, her three sons and then pulls a pistol from between two pieces of cloth. As the wind continues to blow, she puts on her mink coat, places the pistol in a pocket and leaves the bedroom as the episode ends.

Happy New Year and thank you VVS for your excellent 1st recap of 2022! So another mysterious “Samaritan/stalker/note master”(apt description btw) type character added to the story! I gotta go with “ stalker” though, cause he was obviously following Reyyan, lol…… Had a moment of deja vu with Reyyan by the river’s edge passed out—— didn’t that happen when she jumped off the bridge? Anyway, if stalker dude hadn’t been there, it would’ve probably taken longer to get to the point——-which was the note, and instilling more doubt in Azize. I’m glad healing occurred between Reymir and Hazar, although Reyyan sorely got on my nerves there for a minute. Her treatment of Hazar definitely didn’t fit the crime, and other family members have done ALOT worse things to her! Yaren alone has given her a “get out of jail free card” to kick her crazy azz for a year!

Add Cihan to the list of those who think that they’re going to get a straight answer out of Azize, or put the fear of god in her, lol. Azize DOES NOT care if she’s going straight to hell, and she would use the devil himself if he weren’t smarter than her. That whole “eerie”, blowing of the wind and flowing of curtains scene with Azize’s eyes widened like she had this “magical thing” that no one one else did, in order to get her revenge by her damn self, turned out to be a gun! Like WTFudge!! They been shooting guns since practically the opening scene of this dizi! What is this gun! The Holy grail of Guns or what!?!?! I was disappointed, sigh……

Obviously Harun was thrown off guard by Miran’s move to end the revenge on his own merit, and the mastermind behind the whole thing, was also. I’ll be glad when they get to who Harun really is, and I hope it’s something that shocks the crap outta Yaren—— although I doubt that anything can really rattle that snake, lol. Yaren is a lost cause, imo. She has no sense of remorse, empathy or compassion. She’s like one of those attic “doll-eyed” dolls that is pretty on the outside, but pretty scary and spooky on the inside when you think about it long enough.

I feel bad for Elif, but I have to agree with Melike to a point. Pity parties are not my thing. You knew Azat didn’t love you from the git go and if he won’t free you, free yourself—- but in a positive way. Tell him it’s his loss, and how awesome you know you are. Show him what he’ll be missing, and how strong you can be. Pursue your own goals in life Elif! Not just being a wife to a man that you gotta make love you! My fear still stands where Elif is concerned……she’s so fragile!

Thanks again VVS! Appreciate you!

Many thanks, VVS, for another superb recap, complete with clever turns of phrase (e.g., "mini-Miran Meltdown") and some important passages from the Turkish version that Telemundo cut.

I too suspect that Harun was the mystery man in the black boots who rescued Reyyan and brought her to the cabin. I still haven't figured out who he really is, though I vaguely remember his giving the impression at one point in an earlier episode that he was an Aslanbey. Could he be Gonul's supposedly dead brother?

One question. When Reyyan was found, she was lying by the water, with her head perhaps partly in the water. Why did neither her hair nor her clothes look at all wet?

I confess I almost lost it in the scene with Reyyan and Hazar in the cabin. No, strike "almost"! I was furious with her and with the writers. How is any of that scene compatible with the love she has had for and from Hazar since birth, and what she said to Azize about Hazar being her only father? Hazar's account to her of his earlier life was immensely moving. Only a stone, a Yaren, or a very poorly written character could have responded as Reyyan did.

I guess the writers were determined to make this the seesaw episode. Reyyan has been the one giving sane and sensible advice to Me-ran. In this episode, Miran is the wise one who helps Reyyan recognize that she should not be treating her father so coldly. His account of his interaction with his father was moving and very effective.

I'm not sure what the point of Sultana's shooting lesson by Asiye was. That Sultana is absolutely hopeless as a shooter unless she's motivated by hatred, in which case she's a perfect shot? Should we expect that sharpshooter Sultana will get to use her skills in a later episode? Or perhaps Ayise will? Her knowledge of shooting just adds to the mystery of who she is.

More questions: Azize takes out the photo of her family (I think). There's a woman and four children, three girls and a taller and probably older boy. Did the sister-in-law Sultana mentions to Cihan (Aunt Fusun) marry the boy in the photo? Have we been told earlier that Azize had a brother? Could Harun be their son?

Happy New Year! Thanks for getting us off to a great start.

VVS , thank you for every detail.

I liked Moran advocating for Hazar, I liked the group hug that Gul encouraged . Very sweet.

Still Waters Hazar had enough and gave Yaren a good smack as her parents and hub just stood there and watched . Yikes These people love to slap.

I noticed that the mystery rescuer had a beard , so I think it was Harun who always seems to be everywhere . Now , we just have to figure out who the puppet master is .

The dolly with a secret gets passed around from one to another . Who is going to eventually find that letter?

I had hoped that Azat would fall in lo e with Elif , but instead he has fallen into a bottle and she has fallen into despair . Doesn't look good for these two.

Sultana appears to be loving her reign and trying a lot of different things . Now she has a gun . Yikes .

It appears that Azz is a mighty, mighty wind ....and she has a gun .

VVS, you did it again! This was a wonderful recap, with some of your asides that I enjoy so much. Thank you! Thank you!

I was happy to read that you were on the same page, as was Juanita, with the stupidity of the "new" Reyyan who kept whining about the mentira that apparently mattered more than a lifetime of love from her father. I came the closest I've ever come to FF>>> through a scene in this dizi.

Mahmoud and his big gun...overcompensating maybe?

I had the impression that Fusan was the sister of Azize's husband. Was he named Mehmet also? Can't remember if they have said his name. Whether she could have married Azize's brother, I don't know. I sort of doubt that. My general impression of what's gone on here is that Azize somehow rose from being from a very humble background to marrying a wealthy Aslanbey. The two had three sons, at least two of which turned out to be bad guys. To me Fusan rises to the top of the list of possible note writers. She left right after her brother died (maybe that death helped along by Azize). Having lived with HAG she got an up close and personal look at her sister-in-law and would be a good candidate for wanting revenge.

The timing of everything needs to be explained. I thought the flashback beatings of Dilsuh were because they found out she was pregnant with Hazar's child. But then they showed Mehmet being affectionate with Miran.

Yep, I was wondering how Reymir ended up in a car when they started with one horse.

I LOVED Hazar's slapping Yaren. I must admit to taking myself to task at enjoying the slapping so much.

I agree that that "sappy" conversation went on too long when Reyyan forgave her father.

herc

Hi everyone! It was a busy, crazy workday and so nice to jump on the Patio and find all your wonderful questions and comments. Thank you, carmella, Juanita, HALIMACANDY, Susanlynn and novelera!

carmella: I think this is the second time Reyyan ends up face first in a water and unconscious. Second or third time Mavi has bucked her off. I agree with you that the Samaritan/stalker/note writer is more than likely a stalker/note writer? The last Azize scene was sure disappointing with all the theatrics, blowing wind and then she pulls out a gun, big letdown. “She’s like one of those attic “doll-eyed” dolls that is pretty on the outside, but pretty scary and spooky on the inside when you think about it long enough.” Oh my carmella you are too funny. I might have to send this quote to Blue Lass so it can be put on the front page of Caray!

Juanita: I think you are correct about Harun maybe being an Aslanbey, but I am not sure if he is Sultana’s son. In the Turkish version, Reyyan was soaking wet, but Telemundo cut that out. By the time she is in the car, she is dry. I agree that it was opposite day with Reyyan and Miran. I did enjoy the stories both Hazar and Miran expressed. “Did the sister-in-law Sultana mentions to Cihan (Aunt Fusun) marry the boy in the photo? Have we been told earlier that Azize had a brother? Could Harun be their son?” I don’t think we know anything about Azize’s family except that Hanife is the only surviving member. Wow, Harun could be anyone’s son at this point!
HALIMACANDY: I felt for Hazar last night. A lot of heartache. Glad it seemed to finally resolve itself. I don’t think the venganza is over, but just morphing into something bigger. Not sure what, but bigger.

Susanlynn: I didn’t every think about the dolly last night. Where did we leave it last? I think Reyyan has it right? I have no idea why Sultana felt the need to learn how to shoot. She and Azize with a gun. What could go wrong?

novelera: “Mahmoud and his big gun...overcompensating maybe?” This made me laugh! Maybe! I think Fusun is definitely a player now and in the running to be the note master. She knows the real Azize. I was also under the impression that Fusun is sister to Azize’s husband, who we know nothing about. I am wondering if Mehmet thought Miran was his child? Or did he always know he was Hazar’s? Last night I got the impression he felt that Miran was his son.

Tonight should be filled with a lot of surprises I think! Hopefully no pity parties for Juanita to have to recap!

Fatmagul #40 part 1

Lots of cuts once again.

Fatma tells Mustafa his man was following them. The one you sent to the restaurant. The one who brought Asu to the trial. Musto says he will take care of it. He won’t bother you again, he says.

Cut: Cellmates ask Kerim about his visitor. They heard it was his father. He doesn’t want to talk about it. They wonder why he is so upset about the visit. What happened? Is it because you are ashamed? Kerim gets angry and tell them MYOB. Lutfu steps in and tells the others to back off.

Lutfu tells Kerim he has a right to be upset but the others are right in that it’s not good to hold it in. He advises Kerim to write to his wife and let her know. He adds, if you want to talk to me, my lips are sealed. Kerim trusts him but says it is not worth talking about. End cut.

Fahrettin goes to Kerim’s mother’s grave. Flashback: Fahrettin is talking to a depressed looking Enise. It’s a big country. They accept immigrants from all over the world, he says. Lots of of jobs, lots of money. Many from here already went there. They write to us saying how good Australia is. It will also be good for you and Kerim. It will be very good for the three of us. Please don’t be silent. Enise says, you can go. Fahrettin snaps, you want to stay and watch his grave? Please don’t say that, Enise replies.

Fahr grabs Enise’s face to look at him. She struggles. Look at me, he tells her, damn it, you never loved me, right? She gets up and runs from him, crying. He follows her to the bedroom. Tell me, he says. She says she did love him. That’s a lie, he says. Your father didn’t like him and you accepted me just to protect him. Enise says shut up. Fahr says, he didn’t go crazy because of your love, he killed himself to punish me. So that you would never forget him and I would never reach your heart. He did it because he hated me. And you turned our lives into hell because of his memory.

I waited years for you to love me, Enise. But I have lost all hope, he says, you don’t love me. I want this shadow between us to disappear. Let’s go with our son to another place, start over among people we don’t know. If I go, he tells her, I am never coming back. And you can suffer alone. I swear I’ll do it. I’ll go. Take Kerim with you, she says. End flash. Fahr leaves.

The wait outside the prosecutor’s office seems long to Fatma. Mustafa paces nervously. Fatma goes to Musto. You must be worried about her. Musto says no. Fatma says, you are afraid they will ask her what she was doing there that night. He says no, I only want her to tell the truth. The truth is Kerim is innocent, she replies. He nods. I didn’t believe you when you said you wanted to help, she says, I was hard on you. But we’ve been through so much. How could I believe?

Musto says he regrets much of what they’ve been through. I wish none of it happened. But it did, Fatma says. Musto wishes he could go back in time, a year. Then I would always be with you and would support you. I wouldn’t leave you. I’m not here to listen to this, Fatma tells him. I just wanted to thank you for doing this today. That’s it. If this never happened, we’d be married, he says. Fatma asks him not to continue but he does. We could have been expecting a baby. Fatma says that’s enough. It wasn’t my intention to hurt you. I didn’t know Asu was going to testify for the defense.

Fatmagul #40 part 2

Hacer comes out of the room. Fatma says you didn’t stop her. Musto says he had no idea who Hacer Ovacik was. I learned that day at the trial. Hacer listens. I wanted to stop her, Musto says, I was furious, but… But what, Hacer asks? Don’t let me interrupt, Mustafa. Fatma asks her if she told everything. She did. When are you going to Izmir? This week. She tells Fatma not to worry. Fatma thanks her and Hacer says she did it for Kerim. Hacer takes off. Fatma thanks Musto. He holds out his hand to shake. Fatma hesitates then shakes it.

Kadir says they will keep looking for the taxista. He also says that Hacer knew Vural before this. He avoids the specifics on that.

Musto asks Hacer why she didn’t wait for him. You used me again, she says. She heard. You used me to get in good with Fatmagul. What I said wasn’t a lie, he tells her. Now you’re Mr. Honesty? Musto doesn’t understand. Hacer understands this is all about Fatmagul. You didn’t like hearing Kerim was innocent. Having him in jail worked for you. You could get close to Fatma in Kerim’s absence. They keep arguing. Meryem and Fatma notice. The dirty rat says he was looking for a ring for her this morning. He was going to propose. He loves her. That does the trick and shuts her up.

The rotten ricos are making themselves crazy trying to figure out what Mustafa is doing with Fatmagul. And they were with that woman, too. Maybe she is taking her statement back. Erdo says they will say that Kerim killed Vural for revenge and we will be accused automatically.

Selim asks, then why were we left alive and not Vural? Erdo thinks that’s a good question. He answers, because he (Vural) was the guilty one. Do you think that will work? Can we blame him and get away clean? It’s not like he can defend himself. He can’t but his parents can, Erdo says. We can’t afford to lose their support. Selim says Semsi is trying to get Leman to go to England, we can help them and make sure we stand trial while they are away. We can also mention Vural’s mental problems.

Erdo says Fatma will stand in the way. Selim thinks she’s too worried about Kerim now. They can break her. Erdo thinks this could be good. They need to think it through.
Erdo speaks with Yasemin. She says Turaner is a hard one. He’s so cautious. But Yasemin thinks she will get the job done. Erdo says he’s in a hurry. Yasemin says Turaner’s assistant is in with them but this will cost him. Erdo says money is no object.
Turaner asks his assistant to bring a list of people on the energy project. And bring the entire file. She adds Yasemin’s info to the file.

Beginning of this was cut: Kerim starts to write a letter to his father then can’t do it. Kerim sits in his bunk and thinks back to when he was little. He got up in the night and cried. He ask Meryem, my dad is dead, too? You’re not telling me. No he didn’t die, Meryem replies, he will come back soon. You always say that, little Kerim says, but he doesn’t return. It’s a lie, he’s dead.

Meryem swears he’s not dead. He’s just far away from here. He will hear the news and return to you right away. We see Meryem’s mom listening at the door. When, Kerim asks? Very soon, she says, he will take you on the plane to Australia, the land of kangaroos. Meryem gets a book about Australia. Kerim says, make him come soon, I miss him a lot.
Kerim gets a visitor. It’s Omer. After Kerim leaves, Lutfu goes to look at what Kerim wrote. Another cellmate calls him out and says he will let Kerim know.

Omer gives Kerim the good news. Someone will testify in his favor. She saw you leaving the scene and saw Vural alive afterwards. Who? Hacer Ovacik. Kerim is stunned.

fatmagul #40 part 3

Mustafa and Hacer arrive home. Musto sees Yasar lurking nearby in his car. He tells Hacer to go ahead and goes to see Yasar. Why are you following Fatmagul, he asks? Leave her alone or I will make your life hell. Hacer comes back outside. Yasar says he’s only here to talk to Musto. Resat wants to know why you and Fatmagul were together.

Ok then, I’ll tell you, Musto replies, it’s a matter of time before the truth is revealed. There’s a witness that will testify that Kerim did not kill Vural. That’s it, it’s over. What are you saying, Yasar asks. Hacer is there listening. Musto accuses Yasar of killing Vural. Are you crazy, Yasar asks? Musto says, or you made your men do it. You will rot in jail. Are you high, Yasar asks?

Musto replies, they thought that they could blame Kerim and get away with it. They knew that Vural would speak sooner or later. That was their biggest fear. But they were wrong. The truth is known. Go tell them that Kerim will be out of jail soon and their game is almost over. Musto walks away with Hacer.

Word gets back to Resat. The Yasarans discuss. Selim worries now they will be blamed for a murder. Resat says Munir got a copy of the statement. At least she didn’t blame them. She only said Kerim didn’t kill Vural. But Mustafa implied that we would be blamed in the end. Resat says, don’t let Leman find out about this. The doorbell rings, they think it Munir but it’s Semsi.

Semsi says he’s arranged for Leman to go to a clinic in London. Did she agree, Resat asks? No, but Semsi will find a way to get her there and he will stay with her for a while.

Hilmiye says she feels sorry for Kerim if he didn’t do this. What if our boys set it up? Semsi comes downstairs for water and he hears a little: How could you say that, Perihan asks, you think they are murderers? Oops, Hilmiye and Perihan wonder how much her heard.
Cut: Meryem, Fatma and Rahmi go over the monthly budget. They are ok for now. But Fatma says they need to increase the business. Rahmi feels he isn’t any help at all at the restaurant and wants to take a janitor’s job at Murat’s school. They talk him out of it. Fatma says she will try to get along better with Muka.

Murat comes running through the house looking for Fatma and he accidentally knocks over the vase that Kadir’s wife made. Muka yells at him, gives him a spank and he cries. Kadir comes out and says to leave him alone. Muka pulls Murat out, yelling something about not bothering them anymore so they can enjoy living in the mansion. Rahmi follows. Fatma apologizes and hopes is wife’s vase can be fixed. Kadir manages to stay calm.

Meryem’s phone rings. It’s Fahrettin. She goes into her room to take the call. What do you want from us, she asks? Kerim told you what he had to say. I’m in Turkey, Fahr says. No, no, Meryem replies, Kerim doesn’t want to see you. Please don’t bother him, he’s on a business trip. But Fahr knows that Kerim is in jail. He went to visit him.

Meryem tries to talk Fahr out of seeing Kerim again. He asks if Kerim really committed the crime. Of course he didn’t, Meryem says, he is innocent. It’s wrong for you to even ask this. But of course you don’t know him, you don’t know what kind of a man he is. Fatma and Kadir come in the room. Meryem continues, you didn’t see his face for years. Why are you here now? You want to be a hero for him? You think he would be happy to talk to you in jail? Fahr asks if they could meet and talk. Why would I talk to you, Meryem answers. All Fahr wants is a chance. Meryem says it’s not up to her, it’s up to Kerim.

Fatmagul #40 part 4

Fahr says she’s decided things for Kerim before. You and your mother let Kerim have the wrong idea about me. We had good reasons, Meryem replies. You didn’t want Kerim to know the truth. Meryem tries to get off the phone, she doesn’t want to talk. Fahr doesn’t give up. He will be in Istanbul tomorrow and they can talk. She doesn’t want to. He says you must do it for Kerim’s sake. We both must do it. He begs her. She reluctantly agrees. They will be in touch.

Meryem says she knew this would happen one day. Meryem explains to Fatma and Kadir. Fatma doesn’t want him to come here. She doesn’t want to do anything to upset Kerim.
Cut: A cellmate is playing his saz and everyone enjoys the music. Kerim thinks about Fatma and gets upset. One of the cellmates tries to comfort him and Kerim turns on him with his paranoia. Tell them not to throw their dirt on me. I am innocent, he says. Kerim announces to the whole cell, whoever is the Yasarans’ man, let them know. They all think Kerim is crazy. Lutfu steps in again to calm things down.

Munir finally arrives at the Yasaran house. Resat complains about their situation. Especially what is going on with Mustafa and Hacer. Erdo explains to Munir that she was in a taxi and saw that when Kerim left the scene, Vural was still alive. Semsi and Leman walk downstairs at that moment and overhear. Munir says how do we know they didn’t buy her testimony like we did? Resat says that doesn’t matter, if we get trapped in this… Semsi and Leman walk into the room.

Leman asks, what happened that night? That’s what we are trying to find out, Resat replies. Is this something about my son, she asks, why are you talking in private? Semsi answers remembering what he overheard earlier and says it’s because they are hiding something from us. Because this scum killed my son! With that, Semsi rushes Resat and grabs him. The others try to pull him away. Leman starts screaming.

Semsi lets the accusation fly. You were afraid my son would talk! You killed him! Semsi punches Munir. If this is true, Semsi threatens, no one can save you from me! Resat throws him out of the house. Leman gets into the act. She will kill Resat with her own hands. Semsi leads Leman away as she wails.

Erdo asks Resat if he really did it and Resat goes after him only to have Selim step in the way. Erdo wants the truth. Maybe Resat wanted to keep an eye on Vural but it got out of hand. Resat denies it all.

Cut: Musto and Hacer. She asks if he really wants to marry her. Yes. What changed, she asks. He doesn’t answer. You said you wanted to move on, alone, she says. Me… our baby… I got an abortion. He gives her a hug. She cries. What has changed, she asks? He asks her not to do this to him. You can’t understand how big a guilt of conscience this is for me. He says he regrets. It was a mistake. It keeps gnawing at me. He starts to sob. I just want to be forgiven, he says. I want someone to take away the pain and suffering. She hugs him. [I get the feeling this isn’t just about Hacer, it’s still about Fatma, too] He asks for forgiveness, and she forgives him.

Cut: Meryem goes to Fatma’s room to say good night. She is writing to Kerim. Meryem asks if she is going to tell about Meryem meeting with Fahr. Yes, Fatma feels it is better if he finds out from them. Meryem says she will write Kerim later with details.

Cut: Kadir has put the vase back together, almost as good as new. He asks if Meryem wants him to go with her to meet Fahr. No, thanks, better if she goes alone.

Cut: Meryem waits for Fahr in an outdoor café. She sees his taxi pull up and she remembers seeing little Kerim cutting his father’s face out of the wedding pic.

Fatmagul #40 part 5

Fahr greets Meryem and sits with her. Fatma is watching from a distance. He begins, we have a lot to talk about. So many questions. I don’t know where to start. Of course, Meryem replies, after all these years. Fahr says, do you know what my biggest pain was? The one I wasn’t able to forget? The woman that I loved so much, didn’t love me. She loved someone else. Her heart belonged to another. After 11 years, she didn’t look me in the eyes. She hated me with all her heart.

Fahr wipes his eyes and continues, Enise never complained. But she always cried for her love. I couldn’t forgive that. I was punishing her when I left. I thought she would have to come with me eventually. That’s why I didn’t take Kerim. And then, after she died… I don’t know… I couldn’t bear it. it was terrible. My crime is so big, he says, I left my son because my wife left me. My little boy. He wipes his eyes again.

There is no excuse for this, Fahr says, but you are one of the reasons that the break between Kerim and me is so big. It was me who took care of him while he sat by the window, Meryem says, it was me who wiped his tears. How dare you blame me now? Fahr replies that Kerim needed to know the truth about his mother. How could I tell such a little boy, she asks? His father abandoned him, his mother committed suicide. Should I have told him? He was a boy. He was the loneliest child in the world. Nothing could take away that loneliness. He wasn’t told the truth because he needed something to hold onto. That has been the dream of his mother.

Fatma mails her letter. Kerim gets it: Hello Kerim, after days of darkness, yesterday the sun has risen with the testimony of Hacer Ovacik. It felt like spring had finally come after a long winter. Hope was on the horizon.

Fatma gets a letter from Kerim: Fatmagul, my love, I dream of the day we will be together again. I think about you to bring light into my dark nights. The worst part of being here is I can’t run to you whenever I miss you. My freedom was being able to be with you when I wanted, to be able to see you, to be near you.

Fatma’s letter: you will be free very soon, Kerim. That woman’s testimony will bring us the hope we’ve been waiting for. Fewer days left and you will be with us. Your father spoke with Meryem 10 days ago. He pressured her so she had to accept. I know he wanted to talk to you as well. I saw him from a distance. Meryem was so upset afterwards that she didn’t want to come to work. I didn’t ask her many questions. Please don’t be mad at her for doing this.

They edited the end of this: While this letter reading goes on, we see Meryem opening the back of a framed pic of her and little Kerim. She takes a letter out of it. All I see is “annen” - your mother. Meryem is very upset.

Fatma’s Letter continues: he wants to talk to you. I wont force you to do it. I will support you no matter what you decide.

Cut: The letters go on, back and forth. We see corresponding scenes. She tells him about Mehmet working at Rose Kitchen. Business is good. He tells her to keep studying and to keep her doctor’s appointments. She tells him she took her exam and feels good about it. He wasn’t able to be there for the results, but he is glad she passed. He should have a trial date soon. He asks if Muka is still annoying everyone. Yes, Fatma answers, she’s using the pregnancy to her favor. It looks like Fatma is knitting a sweater for Kerim.

Mustafa goes to the cemetery and prays for Vural. We see Hacer watching him from a distance, it looks like she’s followed him and is surprised to see him at Vural’s grave.

Fatmagul #40 part 6

Phone rings at Rose Kitchen. It’s Kerim. He “calls in an order” for borek and ayran. Fatma shouts his name and Meryem drops a plate. Kerim got special permission from the director to call from his office. I have the trial date, he says. It’s next week. Fatma and Meryem are excited. Kerim will be free.

Mustafa discovers Hacer lurking. What are you doing here, he asks? Hacer answers, you did it. Hacer takes off running. Musto chases her. Hacer, I need you to listen! He catches her and she shouts to let her go. You killed him, she cries, you lied to everyone! You’re a murderer! Don’t say that Musto begs, don’t shout. It’s not what you think. I need you to believe me.

She breaks free and tries to run again. He stops her. It was an accident. I didn’t want to kill him. It happened so quickly. He cries as he explains everything he saw between Kerim and Vural and what he did afterwards. We see flashes. Musto and Hacer collapse on the ground.

Kerim meets with Omer and Kadir. He is optimistic he will be released. Omer and Kadir say not so fast. It’s good to be optimistic but prepare for the worst. Everything is in the hands of the judge. We will build our case on the lack of evidence. Our first goal is to get you a trial without arrest. Kerim is disheartened. But Kadir says the investigation will continue and in the meantime if the killer is found, the case is over. Kerim smiles and says he will have patience.

Musto continues his sad story. I’ve got blood on my hands. You don’t know how that feels. It’s hard to live with this. I can’t live with this guilty conscience. It follows me every minute, it appears in my dreams. He goes on. [it’s almost like Vural’s curse has been transferred to Musto]

Hacer says now she knows why he wanted her back and why he came to her right away when she told him what she saw that night. He denies it. You wanted to save yourself, she tells him, you didn’t care about me. She’s pissed at herself for being fooled again. She goes to take off her ring. He says he really loves her [really?] She replies, you don’t love anyone but yourself, Mustafa. You can’t love anyone. You ruined Fatma’s life, Kerim’s life and mine, too. You are not only Vural’s killer, but the killer of many.

Hacer gets a call from Fatma. Musto doesn’t want her to answer but she does. Fatma tells her the trial date, next Thursday. She will be there and tell everything. Fatma adds they found the taxista and he remembers Hacer. See you in court.

Hacer tells Musto and he asks if she will testify against him. Musto begs her not to testify against him. I’m not a murderer. It was an accident. Please don’t let a mistake ruin our lives, our future together. Let’s go away from here. We are young, we have money. I don’t want to spend my life in jail. I don’t want to lose you. Help me, Hacer, help me, he sobs.

Semsi and Leman drive up to visit Vural’s grave. What are you doing here, Leman asks Musto and Hacer. Did you come for my son? Hacer says she wanted to come Vural was a friend and Musto accompanied her. Musto gives a nervous nod. Semsi tells Musto he was paid lots of money, but he still testified against his son.

Leman says wait. She asks Hacer, did you see my son that night? My son was alive when Kerim left? Hacer confirms. Did you talk to him, Leman asks? No, I only saw him from afar, Hacer replies. Tell me how he was, Leman asks. Kerim beat him. Was he suffering? Was he crying? You were the last person to see him before he was murdered.

Omer, Kadir and Kerim leave the director’s office and Fahrettin is waiting in the hallway. Kerim says nothing and starts walking to his cell. Kadir asks the guard for a few more minutes. Kerim says he’s got nothing to talk about. I don’t want to see this man around now or ever. That’s it. Kerim walks.

Fatmagul #40 part 7

Kadir speaks with Fahr. Sorry we always meet in unpleasant places. Fahr says he heard about the trial date. He thanks Kadir for all he’s done for Kerim and Fatma. Kadir says they are like family to him now. Fahr asks for Kadir’s help. You have seen Kerim’s behavior, he replies. Fahr says he will feel better if he could do something for Kerim. Maybe pay the lawyer’s fees. Kadir says that’s not important at the moment. Fahr insists but Kadir says he can’t do anything that Kerim will not accept. Kadir hopes he will understand.

We see Lutfu speaking to Munir. He fills him in on Fahr visiting Kerim and Kerim refusing to see him. Lutfu can’t get Kerim to say a word. Munir wanted Lutfu to gain Kerim’s trust and he’s ticked. Munir asks if he’s seen Fahr. No but others said he looks like a well established man. Munir wonders why Fahr reappeared. Lutfu says he will make Kerim talk. Munir says to be careful not to give himself away.

Lutfu says there’s someone who Kerim thinks works for you, there will be an argument soon. Lutfu asks about his own case. He came here for Munir. Munir says he’s got his men working on it. He assures Lutfu he will get out without being sentenced.

Fahr tells his driver that Kerim had the same anger in his eyes like the first day. The driver says not to lose hope. Fahr wants to be here for the trial.

Lutfu returns to the cell. The guys kid him about his visitor. He tells them he met with a court appointed lawyer.

Leman cries over Vural’s grave. She asks Hacer why didn’t she go to him (Vural) that night. You should have talked to him. Maybe that monster would have stayed away. How would I have known, Hacer replies. Musto is teary. Leman asks what did Vural talk about when he was with you? Not much, she says.

Did he talk about me, Leman asks? Hacer shakes her head no. Would he say that he loved me or not? Did he hate me? Semsi says that’s enough. Leman talks to Vural, you were never mad at me. I am your mother, and I was always by your side. No one loved you more than me. Semsi says let’s go we can come back tomorrow. Leman says I won’t be calm until the murderer is found. But don’t worry I am going to find him even if it’s at the end of the earth. She makes that promise to Vural.

Musto says they are not that far. The Yasarans are not far. Hacer can’t believe he said this. Leman asks, them? They killed my son? Musto says they manipulated Vural at will from the start. It was their fault this turned out so badly. Semsi asks what he knows. They threatened Vural not to speak about what happened, Musto replies, they wanted to keep him quiet. Leman says she knew it was them. They took my son away.

Cut: Fahrettin calls Meryem while she’s working. We don’t hear much from Meryem’s side. Muka asks what was said. Meryem doesn’t answer. I don’t understand why you don’t answer Muka says. It’s not for you to understand, Meryem replies. When Muka leaves, Meryem tells Fatma Kerim refused to see his father again and now he’s coming to Istanbul. Fatma asks if she will meet him again. Kerim will not be happy.

Cut: we don’t see but, Meryem comes home that evening after talking to Fahr. Of course Muka is dying of curiosity. Meryem just says they talked. Kadir doesn’t look too happy about Meryem meeting with him. Meryem leaves to wash up and Muka says, see how she changes the subject. I wouldn’t be surprised if this was an old love returning. Fatma wants her to stop It’s terrible and Rahmi agrees. Then why is she acting weird, Muka asks. Fatma and Rahmi try to shut her down. You’ll see, Muka says.

Fatmagul #40 part 8

Cut continued: Kadir looks upset and excuses himself from the table. Muka notices this and makes eyes like she hit a nerve with Kadir. Kadir is jealous of Fahrettin Bey, she says. When Meryem returns she asks where did Kadir go, she wanted to talk about Kerim. Muka says apparently he didn’t want to talk. [I hate this woman] end cut.

If this wasn’t bad enough, Muka stops in to see Kadir in his office on her way out. I thought you were going to bed, she says. Did you lose your sleep? I understand. You worked hard and they hid things. What are you insinuating, Kadir asks? Meryem and Fahrettin. They see each other in secret. I don’t know if this is new, but they are hiding something. But I’m telling you so you know. Muka smirks. Rahmi calls her to go.

Fatma asks Meryem about her convo with Fahr. She’s not very forthcoming with Fatma either. Fatma asks her not to do anything without Kerim’s consent. Meryem starts to cry. She is feeling guilty. Kerim hates his father because of me. I raised him like my own son. I protected him. I loved him. But I didn’t give him that letter. What letter? Kerim’s mother wrote a letter before she killed herself and I didn’t give it to him. I couldn’t and my mother advised me not to. I should give it to him when he was older but I wasn’t capable of to hand it over. I wanted him to have good memories of his mother. She said… Fatma stops her from saying more. If you didn’t tell Kerim, I don’t want to know, she says.

Kerim is writing to Fatma. We see flashbacks of their second dance. Of Fatma sleeping on his shoulder at the movies. Her the night he gave her the wedding dress. The sightseeing boat trip. He writes he wants to see her in the wedding dress, he wants her to be his wife. He wants her next to him. He wants a family. He wants to raise their children far from evil. He wants to be happy with Fatma because they deserve it. I love you with all my heart, he writes.

Lutfu appears and starts trouble again. He says Kerim will beat that letter home and not everyone here is happy about that. Kerim wants to know who it is. Lutfu puts a makeshift knife under Kerim’s pillow. Kerim is stunned. It’s for protection, Lutfu says. Keep your eyes open.

I think Fahr is setting up a business meeting with the Yasarans.

I’m running out of time, so I have to get through this quick.

Perihan is worried about Resat. Munir and Resat talk. Resat has been drinking. Munir tells him about an investor from Australia. Resat is focused on the Vural stuff. He attacks Munir and asks if he had Vural killed. Munir says he thought it was Resat so he hired a man on the inside of the prison. Perihan and Hilmiye come out. Resat mentions Mustafa and the gun and Selim getting shot. Resat accused Munir of wanting Selim dead. Perihan ends up slapping Resat! It’s a hot mess.

Hacer tries to get Mustafa to come clean. No way he’s doing that. A pity party for poor Mustafa. He begs Hacer to help him. Hacer says she won’t give him away but she will testify for Kerim.

Perihan is pissed about the new revelations and the Vural murder accusations.

Fatma talks to Kadir about Fahrettin. He’s not giving up. And Kerim will need time to recover from prison. Of course, Muka is lurking outside the window and listens in. Fatma is also afraid Kerim will get mad at Meryem for what she is doing. Fatma tells Kadir about the letter from Kerim’s mother and how Meryem hid it. It could change Kerim’s opinion about his father. Fatma says that she doesn’t know what it said, she stopped Meryem from telling her. Unfortunately, Muka gets an earful.

Fatmagul #40 part 9

Meryem sits by the shore and thinks back to her convo with Fahr. You promised you would bring me the letter, he says. Meryem decided it wasn’t a good idea. Fahr says her previous decision cost him and Kerim many years. You don’t have that right. I was the one who raised him, Meryem replies. I was a mother, father and sister to him. Fahr knows and says he is in debt to her. But Kerim has to know the truth.

Meryem says she will give it to him when he gets out She swears on Kerim. Even if it means losing him. Fahr says that won’t happen. You don’t know Kerim, she says. I know he won’t forgive me. Fahr says he will learn to forgive. Life taught him that and Kerim will learn, too.

Everyone leaves to go to work and Muka takes the opportunity to go into Kadir’s house.
Kerim is fast asleep and a cellmate says to leave him alone, he didn’t sleep all night. But it’s time to collect letters to be mailed. The guy wakes Kerim and Kerim attacks him. The others pull Kerim off. Lutfu takes this chance to put the knife in Kerim’s hand. Everyone is shocked, including Kerim. Kerim bangs on the door for a guard. He tells the guard he found this under his bed. It’s not mine, he says. Take it. The guards come in and search the cell.

And Muka searches Meryem’s room for the letter. Meryem returns. Busted! Muka tries to get away. Meryem demands to know what she was doing in her room. Muka backs up all the way to the top of the stairs and then tumbles all the way down. [try not to think bad thoughts]

An ambulance takes Muka to the hospital with the family following. Muka shouts, she made me fall! She shouts and blames Meryem like crazy. If I lose my baby…
Meryem explains what happened to Fatma. Rahmi gets angry with Meryem. He pushes her and shouts at her to leave. What happens if she dies? [try not to think bad thoughts] What if my baby dies? Fatma calms him. Rahmi cries.

Things are tense at Yasaran holding. Yasar gets a summons to appear in court. Yasar worries he could go to prison.

Erdo closes the deal with Yasemin. They get the video and she gets the money. Resat takes a quick look. When to detonate the bomb? Resat says do it now. No negotiation? First let the bank see their board member, Resat replies. Let everyone know and don’t let anyone know it was you. Selim would like to see Meltem’s face when this goes public.
Fahr arrives at Yasaran Holding.

The family goes in to see Muka. Both her and the baby are ok. They find out the baby is a girl. Everyone is relieved and happy. Muka sobs, I thought I had lost my baby. Rahmi says nothing happened. Don’t cry. The doctor says Muka just needs to rest. You know Muka is going to take advantage of this. Guilty Meryem goes to pay the bill. Rahmi says he will take care of it, but Muka says to let Meryem do it, she almost killed her.

And we are out.

Thanks so much, dondi. I don't know how you do it! I appreciate what UniMas doesn't show up being included in your recaps.

Looks like Kerim's mother was not exactly mother of the year. I hate to see Meryem having concealed things and the possible fallout.

I thought it was Muka's fault the vase was broken. It looked to me like she was furious he wanted to sleep with Fatma and grabbed his arm. If she hadn't done that he probably could have gotten by without breaking the vase.

Whoever wrote Muka has created someone we love to hate. She's not a classic villain or villainess in the Mexican TN fashion, but she's just unbearable to me. It's true that it's driving her nuts she's relegated to the little cottage. She said something about Fatma living in a mansion now. Of course it's less about wanting luxurious quarters than being deprived of all that eavesdropping. Of course she got the very worst listen outside Kadir's window.

I was SO pleased Kerim handed that knife to the guard. I almost thought he'd figured out that Munir's plant in his cell was up to something.

Fatmagul

Dear Dondi, it is late, and I will try to comment more tomorrow , but I had to tell you how much I love your parenthetical comments .....especially (try not to think bad thoughts). Teehee

Fatmagul

Wow, Dondi you outdid yourself and I didn't think that was possible! This story just comes alive as you describe it.

It was towards the end but the first thing I want to comment on is this: 'Fahr says he will learn to forgive. Life taught him that and Kerim will learn, too.' because when he said that I thought, ironic that he doesn't know Kerim at all but he is so on the money! And this is not a spoiler, this is my first time watching this so I don't know what will happen but this character the one these writers have so meticulously crafted doesn't have it in him to reject love. Not forever, he might be angry but he knows Meryem loves him and he loves her too. No way in the world does he never forgive her! It's surprising to me that she could think that but then fear and emotion cloud judgement. I also think he will forgive his father too, both because with all the parallels between him and Fatma there is no way to happily ever after without forgiveness. But also because it is so clear that there is still that six year old boy inside him who needs to be loved and it seems like Fahr really does love him - he won't be able to resist that.

I am not sure what Meryem giving the letter to Kerim really would have changed, other than to further devastate a devastated kid. I mean Fahr didn't come back. Maybe if he had it would have been different but since he didn't I don't know what it actually changes...

Speaking of similarities, the relationship between Fahr and his wife compared to the one between Kerim and Fatma, wow! What are the odds of that? Of course Fatma does love Kerim and isn't in love with Mustafa but that truth is still going to sting when Kerim hears it.

Speaking of the devil, the best thing Hacer could do for Mustafa would be to turn him in but I am sure she won't. Forcing that man to take responsibility for his actions might be the only thing that could get through to him. Instead everyone coddles and 'protects' him.

Muka blaming Meryem for her fall was horrible but not surprising. What a hateful woman! That she still has the gall and the nerve to play the victim AND to try to stir up trouble with Kadir and Meryem is unbelievable. She has got to be a sociopath or psychopath or one of the opaths! Fatma should have held her ground but I understand that her love for Rahmi wouldn't allow it.

Meanwhile, Kerim KEEP HIS COOL!! And did the smart thing by turning in the knife instead of just reacting for once! Maybe he is learning??

Hazar announces that he is going to see Zehra. He misses her, and he wants to tell her that the venganza is over [Oops, not so fast, Hazar]. He wants to leave right away, at night. He drives well at night.

Miran had once told Azat that if Elif had any problems, Azat should call him. Azat does so now.

Azize is at her favorite spot, the graves. She places the pistol she took from her treasure chest and places it on Mehmet's tombstone. She talks to him, asks him how he is. She tells him that Miran has given up the venganza. Azize assures him that she won't forget. "The entire world will know what happened, and the truth will destroy them. Hazar, his father, his children. Your mother will achieve the venganza."

Miran has come in response to Azat's call. He knocks on Elif's door. He wants to talk with her, like brother and sister. Elif doesn't want to talk to anyone, not even Miran. She fears that now that the venganza is over, Azat will leave her and go to Reyyan. She and Miran talk briefly through the closed door. Finally, she assures him she'll be OK, and she asks him to leave. He agrees, saying he'll be back in the morning and they can talk then. ReyMir and Azat move away from her room and continue to talk. Azat says they'll get a divorce. If Elif starts the procedure, he can take it from there. He thinks it might be best if she goes to another country, perhaps to study. What's important is that she be away from Azize. Miran agrees.

Elif takes out her wedding dress and puts it on. She walks barefoot down the steps of the konak. It's late and no one sees her. She remembers Azat saying she is his legitimate wife and no one should hurt her. She also recalls telling Azize that she loves Azat. And she remembers Azat telling her that theirs will not be a conventional marriage. He can't love her.

Meanwhile, Azize is still chatting with her dead son. "You left with resentment toward your mother, but in the next world, I will ask your forgiveness. Until now, I've never killed a man, but I've tormented many. It will soon be over." She plans first to kill Hazar and then tell Miran he's a Sadoglu. Nasuh will finally know how this venganza was born. She then summons the always-ready Mahmoud and tells him to destroy Dilsah's tomb completely, so there's no sign of it.

In the morning, Miran wakes up. He's worried about Elif. Reyyan offers to accompany him, and the three of them can have breakfast together. Perhaps Elif will be more willing to talk this morning.

Handan is suddenly in great pain. She thinks it's too soon for real contractions, so she doesn't want Cihan to take her to the hospital. But then she lets out a scream. And another. Handan asks Cihan to get Hanife and Melike.

Azize arrives at the Sadoglu konak with her band of thugs. She apparently has Azat, but the person she demands to see is Hazar. She's told that he is away. She doesn't believe this. Either they hand over Hazar or she will kill Azat. Azize's threats are punctuated by terrible screams of pain from Handan. A shaken Hanife approaches Azize and asks her to have compassion, Handan is giving birth. Azize is unmoved.

ReyMir arrive. Miran enters the konak with a drawn pistol. Everyone is pointing pistols at everyone else. Suddenly a police siren is heard. Pistols are rapidly put away just as the police enter, asking for Azat. Azat asks what they want with him. When he says that yes, he's the husband of Elif Sadoglu. one of the officers tells him that last night, some explorers were crossing a bridge and saw a bride walking into the water. They yelled at her to stop, but she paid no attention. As he's saying this, we see Elif slowly walking into the water. The officer says that she left a note and her ID card.

The police offer their condolences and leave. Handan continues to scream. Suddenly, Hanife yells at Melike, "Do something, she's dying!" We see a silent Handan lying motionless with closed eyes.

DAYS LATER. To my surprise, Reyyan is smiling. I found this somewhat unnerving. Elif has just killed herself, and Handan too may be dead. Perhaps because Reyyan's smile seemed so inappropriate, I found myself quite annoyed with her. She's quite pleased with herself. "I was tested with fire and coals," she says to herself and Viewerville. "When I saw that my love had vanished and ended, it grew once again. When I said I was dead, I was reborn. I never gave up hope." She goes to the stable to see Mavi. She kisses her and says, "Let's go riding." By herself? Telling no one? Has she no fear of Azize Aslanbey? We see Miran heading in her direction on his white horse. They meet. She tells him that her father has given his blessing [to their plan to leave, which they haven't yet told us about]. He too seems untouched by Elif's death. They go on about how they'll live for themselves, and build a clean world. If they're far away, his abuela can't set traps for them. He admits that he hasn't yet talked with Azize. He says she has changed a lot since Elif's death. She won't leave her room. He promises that he'll talk with her today and tell her they're leaving.

We then see Azize, dressed in black. "Forty days and forty nights," she says. Is she referring to the time that has passed since Elif's death? If so, "DAYS LATER" seems very misleading. She tells Elif, "I will see the venganza through to the end." She is at the grave and seems to be praying. She tells Elif, "This is the last day you will rest in enemy territory. Today I will take a lifetime's worth of revenge. You will rest for a single day and then I'll join you. Today the Sadoglu will kill each other. They'll kill Miran or Miran will kill them. I'll damn those who still live. They will take my life. But that's what I want. I want this to end. I want to snuff out the fire that burns in me." She then tells Mahmoud to remove Elif from this tomb and put her in her mother's tomb. And leave the empty tomb open.

Suddenly, a new character appears, a young man. He tells us, "I am a stranger in this city and a new wanderer in the story of venganza. My name is Aslan Aslanbey, son of Sultana. The son they thought was dead. In my years of solitude, I've thought a lot. Who did this to me, who stole my childhood? I don't care about revenge, I want justice. I've come to share the justice with those who deserve it."

Sultana is sitting in the Aslanbey courtyard, pensive. Gonul joins her. Sultana tells her she has nightmares about Elif every night. Gonul admits she can barely remember her. Gonul blames Reyyan for Elif's death [so what else is new?] Reyyan pushed Elif to Azat to get rid of him. The sometimes astute Sultana misses the boat this time. She tells Gonul that without Miran to carry out her venganza, Azize can do very little. Gonul, on the other hand, fears that when Azize leaves her room, terrible things will happen.

ReyMir are exulting in their hoped-for new life, "our fairytale." Miran seems totally happy, but Reyyan is somewhat uneasy. "Whenever we are happy, something bad happens. I'm worried that it will happen again." Miran reminds her of the promise he made: if she falls, he will jump after her and hold her in his arms. He tells her, "We've been through a lot, but we're still here. Nothing will come betwen us, not even my abuela." [Oops, he forgot to say "knock on wood"!]

Gul is sitting outside the konak door holding several red balloons. A man carrying a small suitcase comes along and says he's looking for the Sadoglu konak. Gul replies that this is it. He's looking for the lord of the house. She tells him he's still asleep, and the man sits down next to her to wait. Then he gets up and starts entertaiing her with a song and dance. Hanife hears him and comes out, quickly brings Gul inside, and then asks the man what he wants. He tells her he's a cook and that Nasuh hired him. She tells him they already have a cook and he should get lost. He leaves. [Is it possible he's Aslan Aslanbey in disguise? He looks too old, but....]

Somewhat to my surprise, it turns out that Handan did not die. Indeed, she comes home from the hospital with a new baby girl. We're told that they waited 40 days and 40 nights to welcome the new baby. "A new Sadoglu," gloats Nasuh. Hanife snorts "a new Sadoglu" with a sarcastic "just what we need" understood. Hanife says she hopes the next baby is Yaren's. Needless to say, Yaren doesn't look pleased.

Azat is nowhere to be seen. He has holed up in his room. He says, "I could mourn you for 40 years and it wouldn't bring you back." Gul calls to him. "The baby is here. Come see her." Holding the wedding ring Elif left, Azat says to himself, "I can't forgive myself. I'm still alive, and I have to go on. Forgive me."

Aslan Aslanbey arrives at a huge house. Another man greets him, saying "Welcome to your house." He tells Aslan that his things have arrived and everything is ready. I think Aslan says "It's a far cry from what it used to be." Clearly, there's a lot we don't yet know.

Miran and Reyyan are happy, happy, happy. They hug, they kiss, they say all the usual happy things. Miran remembers that this is where he first kissed her. Reyyan seems somewhat distracted. Finally, she puts her arms around him and hugs him. He senses that something is wrong. She tells him she's scared.

Nasuh is afraid that Miran may hurt Azat because of Elif's death. Hazar says no, Miran is not like that. Azat finally makes an appearance. Everyone greets him. "Where is my sister?" he asks. Azat looks at the baby as if he's never seen one before. Her name, suggested by Nasuh, is Ayse! Supposedly that was Nasuh's grandmother's name. [Quite a coincidence!] The family is waiting for Azat to give the baby a second name. "She's so small and beautiful," Azat says, in tears. He addresses the baby: "You will be very happy. I will make sure you are happy. Your name will be Huma." We then hear what sounds like a prayer. Azat then says, "Ayse Huma. May you be happy with the person you love."

Reyyan and Miran enter. Miran says, "There's something I want to tell all of you. Abuelo, we have made a decision. My wife and I are looking for a new life away from here. There is little that my abuela can do without me, and I won't carry out her venganza." Cihan is still troubled. He tells Miran that in the past, he threatened to kill Hazar. What happened? Miran replies that if Hazar killed his parents, then this [his daughter leaving with Miran] would be the worst punishment. Hazar says if he had killed Miran's parents, he couldn't look his daughters in the eye. Reyyan says "But you didn't kill them. The truth will be revealed." Cihan and Nasuh exchange glances. We get a flashback to when Nasuh admitted to Cihan that he killed Mehmet Aslanbey. Hazar says he approves of ReyMir's plan, and Nasuh says he does as well. Yaren, however, is not pleased. She runs up to Nasuh and protests, "This is all their fault! And you're letting them walk away just like that?" Nasuh tells her to shut up.

Hercai2: #30 - p 4 of 4
People invite Miran to stay at the Sadoglu konak for breakfast. Miran sees welcoming looks from Reyyan and Hazar, and fierce looks from Nasuh, Cihan, and Azat. He decides to stay. Gul is happy that no one is yelling. She wishes Elif were there. Everyone seems to be in a bad mood except Gul and Reyyan. Miran says he has to leave. Reyyan tells Hazar that they'll go to visit Elif's grave before they leave. She invites Azat to come, but he turns her down. Then his phone rings. He goes away from the table to answer it. He tells whoever called, "OK, I'll go at the time we agreed on."

Azize is sitting in her room looking at the photos of her family. She looks at Elif's, and thinks, "She's happy and with the people she loved." Then, she turns to thoughts of venganza. "Nasuh Sadoglu, you destroyed Ayse." "Hazar Sadoglu, you took Mehmet from me." We then get a flashback of Mehmet lying badly wounded on the ground, with Dilsah lying on the ground near him, and another man, probably Hazar, lying on the other side of Dilsah. Azize continues with her recitation of grievances: "Azat Sadoglu, you took Elif from me." "Reyyan Sadoglu, you took Miran from me." "Miran Sadoglu, it's time you paid for the lives your family took from me." "Today, these I have cursed will die. There will be no more unfinished business. I will burn them as they burned me. Today I will greet death for my revenge. They will finally learn who Azize Aslanbey is."

Hanife calls Azize to tell her that Reyyan and Miran are leaving to go far away, and that right now, he's sitting at the table with them. He's not their enemy. Azize tells her she'll talk to her later and hangs up. "What they don't know is that I'm the one who will leave. I'll finish this and then leave. I will make their souls burn in the fires of hell and then vanish in the darkness." And on this note, the episode ends.

Excellent recap Juanita! Excellent! I thought last night’s episode might be another “heavy” one, but despite Elif’s tragic death, and Azize’s constant, draining nonstop venganza threats, there were some happy moments. Yaren is another sinkhole, but that’s expected too. Even when the yellow centipede finds out that she dodged a bullet and didn’t marry her first cousin, she’ll still be hateful and ugly to the bone, lol.

I’m confused about what happened to Elif’s Dad and hopefully they will clear that up soon. Did he die before Sultana watched her husband blow up, or sometime between that and Mehmet’s death? After Mehmet’s death? And was it Sadoglu related? I think Sultana cared for Elif, but she has to be relieved that her secret is now safe since Elif was the only one that witnessed Sultana’s husband “begging” for Sultana to help him before he died. And for Gonul to blame Reyyan for Elif’s death is so typical. Azize, Gonul and Yaren sing the same tune—— at nauseum——- where Reyyan is concerned.

So “mystery” man is Aslan? Or so it seems. I think he’s handsome, but there is darkness and sadness in those eyes. I wonder if he’s a typical, cruel, Aslanbey offspring like his dad, and at least one uncle seemed to be? Time will tell. I also wonder “40 days” later, if Harun and Yaren have consummated their marriage? She’s still a bitter witch so I doubt it, lol. But who knows? Harun doesn’t seem like the chivalrous type who would not assert his marital rights when he wants.

I noticed that Gul is actually getting bigger when she was pleading with Azat. I’m glad Azat greeted his little sister with such a beautiful blessing and is trying to put his grief—- and guilt—- over Elif into perspective. There was just no reasoning with Elif towards the end. The revenge and Azat’s rejection of her was just too much. I’m also glad Miran doesn't blame Azat. They’ve reached a place of begruding, but mutual respect for one another and I’m liking it!

Azize, Azize, Azize! Did she have the audacity to say that “ I’ve never killed a man, but I have tortured many!” Whahahahaha! Like that “REALLY” is a good thing Azize! Thanks for your contribution to less death but more torture! She is too much! Mahmoud does all her dirty work anyway, so she “may” have not “personally” killed anyone, but Mahmoud sure as hell did! Mahmoud will do ANYTHING for Azize, and his sacrilege at destroying Dilsah’s grave proves there is no good thing in him. He’s unredeemable like Yaren. Living and breathing on the outside but dead and empty on the inside. Sorry, but Mahmoud needs to go! Try a new lifetime Mahmoud, cause this one is a wrap for you. Wrap it up, and throw it away!

I’m done with Hanife too! This double spy crap is overdone! Hanife has no life of her own either, so she needs to wrap it up too—-Next! What she should’ve done was to tell Azize that Nasuh named the baby Ayse. At least that might’ve given Azize a second’s pause—— to at least wonder why? I still believe that Azize has all of her information about past events wrong, and can be redeemed. Not unless she kills herself——- which wouldn’t be so bad either, lol….

One last thing—— What the kind of hell of a husband is Cihan!?!? Should’ve told Azize to look for Hazar herself, and he SHOULD’VE been with Handan! Also, if all it takes to stop the gunplay is for the cops to come on the scene, why didn’t someone think of that long ago? Random thoughts…….

Thanks again Juanita! Great recap and I loved commenting on this one!

Fatmagul

Thank you, dondi356. How wonderful to read your recap after watching the show!

Fatmagul and Kerim write lovely letters and both love to read them. Fatmagul is knitting a sweater for Kerim. That's a long undertaking and every time she picks it up she thinks of him. Although separated, the connection keeps getting stronger.

I think Hacer is in danger. Mustafa can kill her if he feels threatened enough. What she said about Mustafa is all true - that he got back with her only to control her, and used the situation to get closer to Fatmagul. At the very least she should get away from him asap and maybe better to turn him in as Darcy said.

herc

Wow Juanita! You sure got a terrific episode to recap and of course did a marvelous job in retelling the complicated twists and turns.

I thought at first that the Elif suicide might be a dream sequence but there was no stopping her, poor thing. In the Turkish version, the angst over her death is a prolonged after the police tell the story of how it occurred. I was also surprised how quickly Reyyan seemed to have surpassed her grief over Elif, but 40 days is a bit of time, not a few days later as Telemundo added. I did like how the writers restarted this story line with Reyyan leaving the konak to go riding in the early morning, very similar to the actual start of this dizi.

I don’t even know what to say about Azat. Glad the baby Ayse is okay, Handan, not so much.

Whoa!! Aslan Aslanbey, what a handsome guy! He has to be the note master and seems to be out for justice, hopefully for the right reasons.

I was glad to see ReyMir happy and making plans for the future. Who the heck let Yaren back in?

We know Azize is not going to stop her deep rooted venganza. The flashback to Hazar, Dilsah and Mehmet lying on the street does lead me to believe that Nasuh did indeed shoot Mehmet after Mehmet shot Hazar and Dilsah. What was with that flashback Azize had about a woman pulling her (Ayşe’s) hair and yanking her out of bed?

carmella, I enjoyed reading your comments this morning. If I recall, Elif’s parents were killed in the same car accident that Sultana and her troll of a husband were in. Glad Aslan inherited good looks from Sultana!

I would love to speculate more, but it is time to head to work. Thank you Juanita for the excellent recap!

Fatmagul

Darcy and Lucio, so glad that you are both enjoying this show that Dondi and I both love. Dondi recommended this show and Kara Para Ask on Netflix to me, and I loved them both .

It's hard to see Kerim pining away in jail separated from Fatmagul and the rest of the family . However, those letters he and Fatmagul are writing are forging a strong bond between them . I recently found a lot of old letters, and it is amazing to read those thoughts and emotions from the past. Fatmagul should save Kerim's letters to read in the future.

Muk is despicable always casting the blame and shadow on those around her , especially Meryem and Fatmagul because they are everything she is not..kind, responsible, hard-working , positive , compassionate . Muk is a sad and bitter person .

Kerim was wise to give that knife to the guard.

Lots of things happening . Vural is gone , and his parents are falling apart. The ricos are framing Meltem's father . So much fallout from that one fateful, awful night that affected so many lives. ..so many ripples .

Thanks VVS. I do remember Elif crying and Sultana going to get her, now. I’d forgotten about that!

Is that you HALIMACANDY? Agree with all points except Reyyan pushing Elif toward primo…… that would be Sultana and Handan……those two are the real culprits and should be hanging their heads in shame! Reyyan just hoped love would blossom and made the mistake of saying so——-hoped, just like Elif……

Hahaha “ Grits-hit-the-fan!

Fatmagul

Thanks everyone. Great comments! I wish I could say more but I don’t want to spoil.

I am so angry about the ridiculous cuts.

Kerim might be a fighter but he’s not a killer.

Meryem was in a tight spot when she read Enise’s letter. I get why the initial thought was to withhold it. Yes, it would be devastating to a very young boy. But when would be the right time? And then so much time passed. If it were to change anything, Meryem might have “lost” Kerim early on, maybe his father would have come back into the picture, no pun intended. Remember there were a few times Meryem said that Kerim shared her loneliness. All they had was each other. Kerim meant everything to her.

Definite parallel between Kerim’s parents and his marriage with Fatma.

I remember the previous recappers and commenters began to call Mustafa, “Me-stafa”. He’s such a coward. Hacer deserves a real man.

I don’t think I will have time to recap the Tuesday episode, I haven’t even watched it yet. I am working overtime at my real-life job. (And I’m backed up on Hercai, too.) So if you want to comment on Tuesday, #41 please go ahead. Once I watch I can fill in any cuts and comment.

Thanks again. We are a small but devoted patio!

Azat Aga… performed the Shahada /Declaration of Faith …in Sunnah tradition of confirming the baby within Islam....

Yes…. maybe that recitation of the ‘El-Faitha /and the Duas [PRAYER]...might help dismiss some of his sins!!...Inshallah!

OH NO!!....LET’S PUT MY GIRL ELIF TO REST…THIS SUCKS!!.....WHY DID THEY KILL HER OFF!!

Thank goodness they did [could]not show Elif’s Janazah……cause there would not have been one!!??...However,I see that Elif is laid to rest in the Mazar..??…but,no Mosque/Masjid prayers with the whole community being in attendance?!!
Ironically Azzat /SADSACK…would have had to lead those prayers over her grave…and only men can be graveside..!!OMG!! I could just see Miran …huffy and puffying away…and dribblingsnot..

Secular TURKISH television did an impressive job with this issue…by having her drown and not use a weapon…wherein, she may receive prayers/ DUAS asking for mercy...on Judgement Day…

YES..!!....BABY GIRL..WELCOME..SALAMS..!!

There are several cuts I am sure just because of the way the episode flowed, or didn't. There's also a couple of scenes where I am pretty sure the translation is off - the impact seems greater than the words said. I remember thinking I can't wait to read what really happened! Lol

Let's see what I can remember.

Kerim is out of jail! Fatma is super excited! Lots of flirting, lots of hand holding, lots of getting overly excited about hand holding! Lol it was cute when Kerim first walks out of the jail and Fatma is waiting, he's so excited he drops his bag but then he just takes her hand! Lol at least hug her, which is does eventually but it was a funny moment.

Then in the car Kerim reaches out to take Fatma's hand again and it's a slow mingling of fingers until they are finally holding hands, then he raises her hand up to kiss it and he looks so shy and happy it was super cute. Then when they stop for food and Kerim says 'am I dreaming?' Fatma says you're awake and he is just like so I really did just hold your hand the entire ride here! Lol he sounds like a little boy with his first crush or on his first date.

There's lots more cute flirting when they get home. Fatma gets embarrassed when everyone tells Kerim how much time she spent cooking food in preparation for his homecoming. He tells her to admit that she wanted to prepare a feast for her husband. She calls him spoiled. Later Kerim is embarrassed because he really wants to ask Fatma if she missed him, he feels silly for asking and is worried she will think less of him but then he asks anyway because he can't stop himself! It's cute and childlike again, Muka of course walks into the room right then and ruins the moment, Fatma doesn't answer.

Nothing cute and good can last forever between these two of course so Fahr shows up and Kerim finds out about the letter. He reads it, storms off, Fatma follows, tries to console him. It's all going okay until it predictably occurs to Kerim that his mother and father are not so different from him and Fatma, sigh. He stops in the middle of the road (this is one of the scenes I highly suspect was translated wonky) Fatma asks what's wrong and Kerim says you're like her, you're with me because you have to be, I love you but you love Mustafa, Fatma tells him he's crazy and that it may have been that way in the beginning but it's different now. Kerim only seems half persuaded, later it is clear he is not mollified because Fatma tries to have breakfast with him and talk about spending the day together and Kerim is sure she is just being kind to him out of pity. He even says she almost said she loved him just to make him feel better. Fatma says that's not true, but Kerim can't hear her right now he is too busy convincing himself she is his mom!

I will try to comment more on other non Fatma/Kerim happenings later. Lunch break is over got to get to work.

Many thanks, Carmella, VVS, and Halimacandy, for your very insightful and supportive comments.
Carmella, I too am unsure what happened to Elif's parents. I assumed that they were killed in the same fiery crash that killed Sultana's husband. That would add additional impact to the horrific scene Elif witnessed. I'm afraid seeing Reyyan happy and smiling only "días después" Elif's suicide made me unable to enjoy ReyMir's happiness. And I would distinguish between Mahmoud and Yaren. Yes, I guess Mahmoud is like all those Nazis who were "just following orders." But at least Mahmoud cares about someone other than himself, even if it's Evil Azize, whereas Yaren really cares only about herself. BTW, I love your wish that Hanife had told Azize that Nasuh named the baby Ayse!
VVS, if DIAS DESPUES refers to 40 days later, that's terribly misleading! As I indicated to Carmella, I was unable to enjoy Reyyan's seemingly sudden happiness and her carefree horseback ride. Also, the flashback and exchange of glances between Nasuh and Cihan makes me, too, think that Nasuh did kill Mehmet, probably after Mehmet shot Dilsah (unless Nasuh killed them both--which would be all the more reason he wouldn't want Hazar to know). And, like you, I have no idea about the momentary flashback about a woman yanking a girl's hair (Ayse's?) and pulling her out of her bed. (It took me longer to write that sentence than to watch the flashback.)
Halimacandy, I enjoyed and agree with much of what you said. Loved "Grits-hit-the-fan"! However, I disagree with what Gonul says about Reyyan. Gonul always blames Reyyan for everything--she can't accept that Miran loves Reyyan and not her. I agree with Carmella that Sultana and Handan are the primary people who pushed Elif toward Azat. And perhaps Cihan as well. Also, though Azat couldn't fall in love with Elif, I still rather like him for his honesty in just about all situations. I do not agree that HAG should kill him.

Thank you HALIMACANDY for the info you provide regarding Islam and its customs and traditions! It helps so much with understanding the culture. Much appreciated!

Thanks so much, Juanita. What a terrific recap! I enjoyed every word.

As for the episode, it was one big "Huh?" except for the reveal of Aslan Aslanbey.

For one thing I was furious with Telemundo. When they were showing those previews last year, the ones they love so much, they showed a veiled bride walking into the water. Many of us speculated it would be Elif. But I thought it was a red herring and that she'd be pulled out safe and be happy when Azat finally fell in love with her. But I hated them showing that looong before they put on Season 2 early because Por amor or por dinero was SUCH a dog.

Another huh? with Hazar apparently accepting to live with Yaren after her father threw her out. Where did they go then? And why did they return?

And, yes, Carmella, I too am over Hanife! What the hell? She's supposedly working with ?. Sorry my brain is not bringing up Yaren's husband's name. So why does she still give her rotten sister all the latest news?

I was wondering about your saying that the new baby was named Ayse after Nasuh's grandmother. I didn't remember that being said, only Ayse, which I thought was after his lost love he thought burned up in the fire. But then Nasuh would have had two grandmothers, after all. They said early on that Gul was named after his grandmother.

And I was just frustrated with that out of nowhere scene of ReyMir on the bridge. No background...no showing of their reaching that decision to leave. Of course they never will. Azize will do something. And I am just tired of those long, long scenes that some of us have begun to call "sappy" where they say over and over how much they love each other. And, as far as we know, have never done the deed since they married for realz.

Juanita, thank you for an excellent recap of an episode that I found very confusing .

The new guy in town is very attractive . What is his plan? Is he the person Harun talks to on the phone ?

I can't believe that the writers decided to have poor Elifcommit suicide in her wedding gown.

Why are Miran's bangs back? Did they shoot the end of this show first ?

Thanks very much, novelera, for your astute comments. I too thought that there were too many "huh?" moments in this episode. Of course, for me, the biggest huh came when, immediately after the DIAS DESPUES sign, Reyyan appears smiling and happy. To me, días después indicated a few days, certainly less than una semana and a lot less than un mes. And forty days is even more than un mes. I also wasn't sure what to make of the phrase "40 days and 40 nights." It brings up several Biblical references (Moses, Noah, and Jesus come to mind). Both Nasuh and Azize make specific mention of "40 days and 40 nights," though I'm not sure I can tie this to the mentions in the Bible, nor whether such references appear in the Moslem Bible.

Another "huh" for me was Nasuh saying he named the baby Ayse after his grandmother. He says this in the scene where Azat sees the baby and is asked to provide a second name. Handan tells him that Nasuh has named the baby Ayse, and Nasuh rather quickly explains that it was his grandmother's name. Really?? ¡Qué casualidad!

"Huh?" also describes my response to the two-second flashback regarding a woman and two girls (one of whom may be Ayse, but that's just a guess). I have no idea what that was all about, and it was gone as fast as it appeared.

As for Hanife, it looks as if her long-standing loyalty to her sister trumps her resentment and her opportunistic impulses. Or not. :-)

Thanks very much, Susanlynn, for your excellent comments and questions. As may have been apparent from my recap and my responses to others' comments, I too found the episode confusing.

Your guess is as good as mine about the attractive newcomer, Aslan Aslanbey. I wouldn't be surprised if he turns out to be the note master, but right now that's just a guess on your part and mine. Whether or not he's the note master, he does add some new life to the dizi.

Not only did the writers have Elif commit suicide, they showed part of the scene where she does so in a trailer! That was unforgiveable, IMHO.

And yes, I didn't comment on Miran's bangs, but I've been sorry to see them return. I think he's much better looking without them. I like your suggestion about the timing of the filming.

Juanita, in re-reading my own comment and your response, I came up with something. I think Gul might have been named after HER grandmother, Nasuh's deceased wife. So...we think that Ayse either burned up or she became Azize and Nasuh somehow can't recognize her. The Ayse into Azize theory has several backers here.

It's possible Nasuh really did have a grandmother named Ayse or he made up that excuse to name the child after his lost love. So...Gul was named after the woman Nasuh really did marry...the one who gave birth to Hazar and Cihan. And the new baby was either named after Nasuh's grandmother or the crispy critter.

Fatmagul #41

Okay I will try to add more...the fear I have is that I already watched today's episode too so I hope I don't accidentally add something that was shown today instead of Tuesday and I apologize in advance if I do.

Muka was being her usual pain in the big toe self throughout all. Starting when Rahmi called Fatma not long after they all left the courthouse and he found out Kerim was released, Rhami wanted to know how Kerim was doing, Muka wanted to know if he asked about her and wanted to make sure Rhami told him the doctor ordered her to get bed rest! Smh. After she didn't get the attention she wanted from that call she tormented poor Mehmet with his lemonade not being good enough. IIRC, she also tormented Rhami with the idea that Fatma was going to kick them out of the house the second Kerim got home because she has changed so much and all she cares about now is Kerim. Later she ruined the happy family talk at the table by asking about Fahr, interrupted Kerim and Fatma bonding as I noted earlier and made them both uncomfortable by asking about the wedding date! (But we did learn Kerim would like to get married in the spring!) Finally she spied Kadir and Fahr talking out in the street and just as Kadir had convinced Fahr to wait for another day and let Kerim have his happy homecoming. Muka announced Fahr's presence, once again ruining the vibe between Fatma and Kerim who were in the kitchen holding hands and Kerim was leaning in...I am not sure he was actually going to try to kiss Fatma but it looked like he was thinking about it.

Speaking of the family dinner, there was a cute moment where everyone was talking about where Kerim would sleep. Meryem offered to give him her room if he was uncomfortable, and then Fatma says or you can sleep in my room (the way he looks at her when she says this) but of course she wasn't offering to share a bed with him. She was saying she could get a roll away bed and bunk with Meryem and he could take her room (I think, it was actually a little unclear to me where the extra bed was going to be placed). Anyway it was funny, and in my opinion the fact that she was willing to give up her beautiful room, her first ever room of her own for him is proof positive she's in love!

The other scene I suspect was translated incorrectly was when Kerim first arrived to the house and the family was all greeting and hugging him. Murat asked him to pick him up and Fatma said he was tired - Kerim gives her a very meaningful impacted look - and it seems unlikely that he would be so impacted by being called tired. My guess based on the context is that she actually said 'Uncle Kerim is tired' and that the reaction was from hearing Fatma refer to him as Murat's uncle, but I am unsure of course. Maybe he just doesn't like to be called tired.

The Yeserans did a bunch of stuff I am sure but I don't pay attention to the. Mustafa stared longingly at Fatma while spinning a bunch of bs at Hacer to convince her she is loved....

There's a bunch of impactful stuff with Meryem but I am really unsure of which scenes with her were today and which were yesterday so I will wait until after we start discussing #42 to comment on that.

fatmagul

Thanks for your recap, Darcy. Excellent descriptions. I am caught up except for today's, which I will be watching tonight.

I sure wish the writers had let Kerim and Fatmagul have some happy moments before Muka ruined everything. Meryem had promised to tell Kerim and show him the letter, but she didn't get a chance to smooth the way and do it gracefully because the perennial pest opened her mouth and made it happen too quickly.

Any chance of death in childbirth? I know that sounds awful, but I don't care. Think how happy our little family, including Rahmi, would be if she weren't around. There's not a thing wrong with her; she's just pretending that fall made her need "rest" so as to stick her nose in everything.

They sort of made us believe that Resat was shot in the chest by Leman, didn't they?

I don't know whether UniMas made cuts or if they more fully explained what happened to Turaner. It seemed Erdogan got that prostitute to seduce him, video the encounter, and have it posted to the internet. At least Meltem has the decency to mourn her father.

Turaner wasn't a wonderful guy, but he was much better than Resat, Erdogan OR Selim. I thought Selim wasn't quite as slimy until he started threatening to kill Meltem.

I fell behind. Thanks so much VVS and Juanita, your great recaps helped. I can’t add anything to what already has been said.

It does look like there were edits. VVS confirmed at least one. I wish I had time to look at the Turkish eps.

Why did they have to kill Elif? They could have sent her back to school in England.

Aslan Aslanbey, wow! Is the fight for justice going to be different than the fight for revenge?

I still think Firat might be an Aslanbey.

I think we are going back to one hour eps next week.

Hi dondi356, a few days ago, when I checked Zap2It before putting up the Telemundo y Más pages for this week, Zap2It showed Hercai returning to 1 hour episodes in the coming week. I just checked again earlier today, and, alas, Zap2It now shows that on Monday, Por Amor o Por Dinero will have a 2-hour finale, but after that, Hercai will go back to 2-hour episodes for the rest of the week. :-(    However, when Exatlón starts on the following Monday (Jan. 17), it looks as if that will push Hercai back to 1-hour episodes. ¡Ojalá!

Fatmagul

Novelera, I can't believe I forgot about Leman shooting Resat!! Lol that was awesome! Too bad her aim sucks! And of course Resat sends her to the basement instead of calling the cops. I am actually kind of glad her aim sucks on second thought, death is too good for him he should rot in jail.

Fatmagul #41 cuts and comments part 1

Thank you, Darcy for getting us started with a wonderful recap on the fly.

Fatma is showing her love for Kerim but she can’t say “seni seviyorum” - I love you, yet.

You are right about bad translation. When Kerim came home and Murat asked to be carried, Fatma said, “Enişte çok yorgun.” - Uncle is very tired. Enişte is used as uncle (husband of an aunt) or BIL and that is how Murat addresses Kerim. It was that acknowledgment that got a reaction out of Kerim.

They cut a little before Mustafa and Hacer got married. Musto and Hacer do not look like a happy couple. Serdar made it to the ceremony just in time because of traffic. He sees that Musto’s parents aren’t attending. Musto says he will tell them after he’s married. Sami introduces himself to Serdar as Hacer’s brother. Sami wonders why Hacer looks so down, this is exactly what she’s dreamed of.

Cut: Meltem sees a post online that Mustafa and Hacer got married. Gaye also sees something online and gasps. She keeps it away from Meltem, but Meltem manages to grab it. We don’t see it but it must be the Yasemin video. Meltem is horrified. Ender looks on and she faints.

Cut: Rahmi tries to make Muka comfortable in one of the upstairs rooms. She has a nice view from her window. She complains to having been relegated to that “damp shed”, while they live comfortably in this palace. Rahmi says but they gave us a place to live. Muka is ticked that Rahmi keeps defending them.

That woman almost killed me, she shouts, you could have been praying for me tonight! She complains that they haven’t even brought her something to eat. But as she says this, Meryem and Kadir bring a tray. Muka says she won’t eat anything that woman touched. She explodes, how can you still talk to me and look at my face?! Have you no shame?! Acting friendly when everyone is around. Meryem leaves the tray and goes. Muka tells Kadir she could have sued Meryem. Kadir says enjoy your meal and walks out.

Cut: At the dinner table, Meryem explains to Kadir how Muka’s accident happened. Meryem says she still doesn’t know why Muka was rummaging through her room. Kadir tells Fatma she was probably looking for the letter. Meryem is shocked and looks at Fatma. An embarrassed Fatma admits she and Kadir were talking about Kerim’s father this morning and it just flew out of her mouth. She guesses that Muka overheard somehow. She apologizes. Meryem quietly says it’s okay. When Kerim gets out everyone will know about it.

Cut: the beginning of the scene at the Alagoz house. We see the newspaper headline: “Turaner’s Secret Recording.” Meltem says it’s been a week and we’re still on the front page.

Cut: Resat asks Selim for an update on Kerim’s trial. Nothing yet. He tells Selim that Turaner has been calling him.

Cut: Kerim falls asleep on Fatma’s shoulder while they drive. She doesn’t mind at all. She explains to Meryem and Kadir that was already very tired and then he ate too much. So sweet.

S2-Epi 31
Part 1

• Epi begins with ReyMir heading to visit the cemetery with an agreed upon detour along the way…and more importantly.
• We also get a good look at the handsome Aslan…shirtless no less…..receiving an update from someone unnamed at the moment.
• Sukran tends to her plants…the detour for ReyMir…she’s happy to see them…..happy they are happy…OK with their departure if it’s what they want. She’s invited to leave with them but she’s not leaving the land of her ancestors….especially at her age.
• The wicked Azize surveys the mansion…bellows for the ever faithful Esma…On queue….the other roaches crawl out as well. Esma is given a rather large key…flashback reveals that it’s suppose to symbolize the end of the venganza…releasing Esma to start a new life in a new city.
• Azize kisses/smells Gonul as oppose to answering her questions about what’s going on. Sultana and her new faithful servant are told they have to leave…the mansion is not their home. Sultana pushes back…the mansion is her husband’s home…she’s not getting kicked out.
• Mother and daughter demand answers…but Mahmut and his goons forcefully remove them…putting them in a van. Esma pleads their case…wondering what will happen to Firat and Miran. Firat will be fine.
• Esma begs Azize to reverse course…it’s not destiny but hate that Azize is acting upon. It falls on deaf and determined ears. Esma is put into the van as well. In hear head….Azize wishes them all well….asks for blessings.
• ReyMir make it the cemetery…surprised to see Elif’s grave has been robbed. Who did it. Of course it was her…abuela….who else. She couldn’t even leave her grave in peace…is that really love. Simple for Miran…she did to provoke Nasuf or Cihan.
• Miran finally questions what a fool was to believe Azize’s lies all his life…but he refuses to fall into her trap this time. He wants to run off to see her. But first…Reyan insist that they replace the dirt in the grave..her family can’t see it like that. Miran stops her…reminds her they will still leave and start anew….far from abuela. Elif wanted it also
• The shirted Aslan and his man take off…but on another road…Sultana and Gul fruitless demand to exit the van…Esma asks them to call Firat and Miran…and alert them to stop Azize….but they have no phone…as planned by Azize. Gonul looses it thinking that Miran will die.
• ReyMir make it to the deserted mansion…Reyan notices a pot still boiling on the stove. They continue to call/search for everyone…he calls Esma/Sultana...phones are home...the women are not.
• Azize calls him….tells him where to meet alone…he lies to Reyan that it was Firat to calm her. He will drop her off at the Sadoglus…but she insists she’s riding shotgun. He puts his foot down…she’s not going with him. She reluctantly stays behind…but when his car is out of site…Azize calls her.
• She doesn’t let her speak…she knows she’s up to something but she won’t succeed she tells Azize.

Part 2

• Handan and Cihan decorate the nursery…over the top per Cihan. He thinks the bad times are behind them..nothing to worry about…she’s not so sure
• Azize is watching Reyan on a camera as she speaks to her over the phone about the planned escape….Leave us is peace...but there’s something you need to see first she tells Reyan. Get in the car I sent for you if you want to know the truth. Reyan knows it’s a trap but also knows Azize will never leave them in peace so she takes the bait and the ride.
• Elif’s remains are with her parent’s …now it’s time for those responsible for her death to find their final resting place…per Azize. She cites something about drawing blood when touching the jowls of a wolf…..she’s the wolf.
• Miran arrives to place he was lured to…Azize awaits. He demands to know where everyone is but is told to be patient. Reyan arrives.. sees Miran with Azize …not allowed to exit the car…nor call… her purse is thrown from the car. Miran doesn’t see her.. can’t hear her cries from afar.
• Azat arrives solo…Reyan is beside herself demanding to get out of the car
• Azize taunts Miran with his own words about her “my abuela can’t do anything without me”. She tells him that Azat took Elif from her but it was Miran who served her up. She now demands that he kills Azat…who is seen walking across a bridge toward them. It’s justice she says. Azat continues toward them…annoyed…Miran is pissed. He’s not going to kill Azat. If he doesn’t…Mahmut will…taking his gun out on queue. Reyan’s desperation rises.
• Mahmut points the gun…but maybe Azize will do it herself. Miran tries a Jedi mind trick on her. …killing Azat will derail what he’s been up to he says…the Sadoglus thinks he’s on their side. He’s not…he’s being duplicitous to gain their trust. If it’s true he hasn’t given up the venganza…he’s to prove it…kill Azat she says.
• Azat makes his way to them…curious about the meetup… Miran’s presence…Mahmut’s gun in his face. Miran realizes Azize has a gun…she edges closer to Azat….who is laser focused on Miran. Miran takes the gun from her…points it Azat…Reyan loses it.
• Azat calls Miran out on setting a trap…lying to Reyan..fooling everyone. Azize taunts if he doesn’t do it..Mahmut will. After torturous thought..Miran puts his gun down…turns to find Azize pointing a gun at him. Her plan is obvious to keep the family feud going…but he’s not going to kill Azat. If Mahmut does it…the feud shifts
• Miran walks up to Azat…lays it out for him…there’s only one way to leave here alive…I shoot you…he says…otherwise we both die..does Azat understand what he intends to do. He steps back…demands Azat draw his gun. Azat calls his bluff…tells him if he’s going to kill him…shoot him in the back..like only an Aslanbey would.
• With tears in his eyes…asking for forgiveness…..Miran fires his gun….Reyan screams for Azat. He shoots Azat in the back…Bullet appears to go thru his left shoulder. Azat turns to look back before falling to the ground. Miran prays…eyes closed. Don’t die cries Reyan…Azize lowers her gun…Miran has finally avenged Elif…that business is done.
• As she gets in the car, Azize proudly tells Mahmut that no one knows Miran better than her…because she raised him. I told you Mahmut she says. Flashback to that convo with her and Mahmut…she predicted Miran would shoot…but not to kill.
• Back in the present…Miran is shaken…calls a worried Firat...opens Azize’s door while telling Firat the deed is done as planned. What now? Azize always knows what’s going to happen she says. He was going to avenge his parents but she spoiled it he says….she couldn’t wait. He rattles off his supposed plan/inroads with the Sadoglus…but she couldn’t wait. Firat listens…as does Azat.

Part 3

• Why must he stay with Reyan. Part of his game. He continues spinning his web of lies to Azize…he’s learned from her to plan everything. She’s heard enuf….exits the car…if it’s all true…why not Kill Hazar as easily as he did Azat. Big difference is he wants everyone to know the truth about Hazar first…no one should mourn him. This moves her…she admits it was an error to pressure him…but why did he do it. She backed in him a corner…it was the only way she would believe he was still loyal to the venganza. Azat is not important to him but partly responsible for Elif’s death….we know he blames her too.
• Not sure if she’s convinced or not but she’s ready to leave…Miran should go with her. He does. A distraught Reyan is driven away…her purse left behind. Firat having heard ..and understands everything calls help for Azat….he’s alive.
• Why didn’t they skip the nonsense with Handan asking to take the baby to the hospital
• Meanwhile...Aslan and his man find Azat alive…he refuses to be taken to a hospital….no police…they should help him. Concern over blood loss but they take him anyway.
• Azize tells Miran to connect with Firat and go take care of their family…she’s got something to tend to.
• Miran drags a driver from his car and takes off. Meanwhile the Aslanbey women spot cars following them…they are cut off. A man jumps in…points gun at their driver and forces him to drive elsewhere.
• Aslan and his man take care of Azat….the wound is not fatal..either he’s really lucky….or he was shot by a professional… no intent to kill him.
• Aslan goes to his room… has to take his shirt off again…pause….He has a scorpion tat on his back shoulder to balance out his broad chest…toned abs.
• He surveys his room….something concerning is on the wall….pics of Reyan??? He’s been stalking her for a while…it seems. Is it a shrine…or a story board. He closes off the secret wall. His man brings him a package…another pic of Reyan…he caresses the canvass.
• Speaking of Reyan…her captor releases her from the car … Azize has arrived….yells for her. Reyan runs after her ready to tackle but Mahmut restrains her. She threatens Azize who tells her she’s just like her…and to take note…Miran only listens to her and hasn’t abandoned the venganza. Azize is the devil…she’s a killer…ruined lives. Azize hasn’t killed anyone…Miran has….and you won’t be able to save Azat…she spits at Reyan..drives off.
• Reyan runs back to get to Azat…yells for help. Meanwhile….Miran and Firat have arrived at the site…they see blood but no Azat. Firat wants to know why he shot him. Miran explains the game to him…he had to shoot him in his way…not to kill but to appease Azize. He can only protect everyone if Azize trusts him. He will fix it but they have to find Azat. He needs to call Reyan…she doesn’t answer….they got to get back to the mansion.
• Reyan hitchhikes…Firat receives an Azat update…shares with Miran…they take off in search of him.
• The witch Azize returns home…disrobes…in slow motion… trades black clothes for white….it’s almost over….black eye makeup goes too.

• Miran wants to confess…Azat sticks to his story…Aslan shot him….Aslan saved his life. It was his own fault…crossing in front of the hunters….an accident. He doubles down on his story…do nothing to Aslan.

The End.

Fatmagul #41 cuts and comments part 2

Cut: Kerim goes into Meryem’s room. She is looking at the framed pic of her and Kerim, the frame that hides the letter. He sits on the bed with her, takes it from her and looks at it lovingly. He calls her ablacığım and gives her a big hug. It’s great to be with you again, he says, I am so happy. Me too, son, Meryem replies. They don’t let go of each other.

Cut: the housekeeper tells Ender and Meltem that Turaner entered the house by the back door. He hadn’t been home since the scandal hit. That’s when Meltem heads downstairs and rips into her dad.

Can’t remember if they cut the scene where the little boy is rushed into emergency and Erdo happens to be walking by. He noticed the pretty doctora and followed her.

Cut: Kerim taking a shower. Surprised Muka didn’t try to peek through the keyhole.

Can’t believe Turaner asked Mustafa of all people to protect Meltem from the Yasarans.

I love that scene in the kitchen, where Kerim says when I closed my eyes, I wasn’t in jail anymore. He put his fingers through the wisps of her hair and then took her hand. He leaned in closer and gave her the gaze. Look at that slight shiver she got. Wonderful.

Cut: As they walk back to the house the morning after Kerim read the letter, he flashes back to the beginning of their marriage: Fatma telling him he was one of her enemies and that would never change, when she tried to stab him as he slept, when she shouted, I want to divorce you—I want to get rid of you. I want to wake from this nightmare, I want it to end! Then he told her she was like his mom and said she still thought of Mustafa.

If you have any questions about translations or scenes, let me know.

Thanks very much, Nett, for this terrific recap of an action-packed, at times complicated episode. I knew we were in for trouble as soon as Miran lied to Reyyan.

I was impressed with Azize's clever, complex planning. Forcing Reyyan to be the unwitting witness to 1) Miran's lie, 2) Miran's not just lying but lying so he could go see his evil abuela, and 3) Miran's shooting Azat. These alone could wind up tearing ReyMir apart.

There was one part of Azize's plan that I wonder about. We see her call Reyyan on her cellphone and watch Reyyan while she is talking to her. I know that video calls are possible, but can they take place without the person being called agreeing to a video call? Somehow, I doubt it, unless perhaps you've got NSA personnel hacking the target's cellphone in advance.

Another thing I wondered about was why Azize seemed to be satisfied with Miran's simply shooting Azat but not killing him? She was aware that he didn't shoot to kill, but she nonetheless felt that Azat had now paid for "what he did to Elif."

I was somewhat disappointed that Reyyan didn't do a better job of trying to get free when she was in the car. Couldn't she have taken off a shoe and slammed it hard into the driver's head or neck? The car was parked, so there was no danger of crashing the car. I didn't notice whether she was wearing any jewelry, but even a sharp pin or earring might have been useful.

And what in the world was Aslan doing with all those pictures of Reyyan? Not to mention the framed picture that arrives for him during the episode. His collection has TROUBLE spelled in capital letters. I can see a disillusioned Reyyan becoming interested in this good-looking newcomer who has rescued her dear cousin Azat. (Actually, considering how high maintenance Miran is, perhaps she should think about Aslan. But somehow, I suspect ReyMir will prevail in the end.)

Nett, you raise a great question about the ridiculous scene with a panicked Handan wanting to take the baby to the hospital because it isn't crying and being a nuisance. I'm not a Handan fan, but that scene was too absurd even for her.

Wow, Wow, Wow Nett! What an episode to recap and you did it superbly! See what happens when you underestimate the “Queen of Mean!?!?” She shows you EXACTLY who she is, and EXACTLY how it’s done! I can’t stand you Azize, but bravo girl! BRAVO! You set up the peons without so much as a blink, and all it takes is one phone call from you and they come-a-running! Even Azat! Haven’t you guys heard about FaceTime?!?!? Obviously y’all know about video calls!! Anyhoo, y’all got played——- like a finely tuned fiddle!

Miran disappointed me——-AGAIN——- on a couple of fronts. Obviously he is a sharpshooter and knows where a bullet needs to go in order for it not to cause, or to cause death. I’m shouting at my TV, well Miran on my TV, lol, to quickly turn and shoot Mahmoud in the head , and give a swift side kick to Azize’s old azz! They wouldn’t have known what hit ‘em! And I’m with you Juanita! Reyyan could’ve done a better job at getting out of that car instead of just screaming! Use that energy to kick some chauffeur azz girl!!! You made it way too easy for him and Azize!! Then Miran, once again reverted to his old, yelling, abusive self! Why did he attack those bodyguards! Like why can’t you remain calm under pressure Miran! That’s why Azize ain’t worried where you’re concerned. Like she so smugly said to Mahmoud, “I raised Miran.” I’m not even sure you had her convinced about not turning on her. You’re too much of a loose cannon! Dummy!!!

Then, vaya, Vaya, VAYA! We get a HEFTY dose of Mr Aslan “hot body eye candy!” Like YUMMMIE! Yeah, you’re probably—-more than likely——quite frankly——an overly, obsessed psychopath who’s got a Reyyan hard on fixation, but you look GOOD! So I’m looking forward to you diverting us with your yumminess, lol. Our true lovebird’s obviously have more crap to go through before their HEA, so I do hope that you make it interesting. Miran needs a wake up call of sorts, anyway, and Reyyan needs to know that there’s more than one man on the planet who might rock her world. But when you get too crazy, you gotta go!

Finally, our girl Azize! Got all ready for her “stairway to heaven” moment, and had to make a left turn, lol! More like—— in the other direction, cause we all know you’re going straight to hell! But that white did look good on you Azize, it really did! I even found you kinda pretty with your hair down and flowing. You did have that angel glow, but again, we all know that you’re FAR, super FAR, from angelic status. I mean, even after all Mahmoud has done for you, and how loyal he’s been, and how he cried (snot and all) for you not to die, you only gave him a kiss on the forehead, and an envelope to take care of Gonul and Aslan for the rest of their lives! Like WTH! He should’ve gotten an envelope with enough money in it to take care of himself for the rest of his own life! You really are selfish Azize, wanting someone to take care of your brats while you’re living it up in the here-after. Suffice it to say, you can’t die right now anyway, lol. Time for you to get some of that just dessert thingy, and it will be so well deserved! I can’t wait!!

This incident will separate Reymir I’m sure. Especially since Reyyan saw it all with her own eyes. I did have to laugh at Miran though. He, for once, didn’t know what to say, or what to do when he got cornered in the courtyard.! And he really had a WTF moment when Aslan and Azat appeared and changed the whole story! Kinda felt sorry for him too……..

Thanks again Nett! Great job!!!

Fatmagul

Dear Dondi, thank you so much for recapping. When you first recommended Fatmagul, I had to search for it and watched episodes out of order. i dont get Unimas. I realized that I had never seen the episodes of Kerim atleaving prison and going to kadir's home for the first time . I wondered why the growing love between Kerim and Fatmagul ran into trouble so quickly . ...now I know...MUKA strikes again . She managed to wiggle her way into the big house , and now she is invading everybody's privacy so that she can rain on everyone's parade. She is so jealous of the relationship that is forming between Fatmagul and Kerim , and she practically squirmed when she first saw Kerim in the house after his release from prison. Look at me z! Look at me ! She always tries to draw attention to herself. It must be torture having someone like her in your life . She is so ungrateful for all Meryem and Kadir have so unselfishly done .

Fatmagul

Dear Darcy, I am not sure if I thanked you for your recap . if I dudnt...I do. I missed the episode in which Kerim was released from prison , so I found that episode and your recap helped me understand what was said . It's a wild ride, isn't it ? Keep watching !

Hercai

Nett, thank you for all the details of a wild episode as Azz continues her farewell (?) revenge tour .

Aslan was a big , goodlooking surprise , and presto bingo ....he suddenly appeared out of nowhere, and we got to see a lot of him and learn that he has a hidden wall devoted to Reyyan. Uh oh . Where has he been all these years ? Did Azz make him disappear after he was born? Has she been in contact with him all these years ? Is he the puppet master of Harun? If so, what is their connection ? Even though the pumped bod , scorpion tatoo , and Reyyan tribute wall is a bit kinky\creepy.....he seems lower maintenance the his primo Angry Bangs. Maybe Rey hasn't done the deed with Mir again because Aslan is her real soulmate . Now that would be a twisty turn .

Thanks SO much, Nett! Terrific job on the recap with plenty of snark along the way.

That surely was a gamechanger. I was gobsmacked at all the intrigue.

Halimacandy, I forgot to thank you yesterday for the "selling wolf tickets" reference. I hadn't heard that one for many years, and it was perfect.

So, Azize dug up her granddaughter's corpse and, IIRC, had Mahmoud put her "on her mother's breast". Yikes!

I don't know what I'd do without recaps and commenters on the recaps. I was completely under the impression that Azize thought Miran had killed Azat.

Actually I didn't mind Handan's wanting to take Huma to the hospital. It was way over the top, but then she always is. It amused me that she thought something was wrong with a good baby that ate and fell asleep as opposed to Yaren who was never content.

Aslan is an enigma. He sort of looks like a good guy, saving Azat. But that wall of photos of Reyyan doesn't bode well. I think one of them looked like that time Miran took her to some kind of festival in a small town and she danced. It's pretty creepy that she's been photographed so many times without her knowledge.

For a second there I wondered if Azize was actually going to off herself and wondered how. But I'm sure she'll be wreaking havoc for quite a bit longer.

Having Reyyan witness Miran shooting Azat was just bad to the bone awful. But then I reminded myself of the #1 rule of telenovelas/dizis. The lovers must be separated by plot devices again and again until the very last week or maybe the next to last day.

Fatmagul #42 part 1

Cut: When Fatma and Meryem arrive at Rose Kitchen, Mehmet informs them that the drink delivery has been cut off until they pay their past due bill. Rahmi says same with the oil vendor. Fatma says they will sort it out. Fatma wonders if she should call Kerim but decides against it.

Kerim calls his father and says, we have to talk. Now Fahrettin has hope. Kerim says he doesn’t have much time, let’s meet. Kerim thinks back to a place he was with his dad, a bridge, so he says they will meet at the Galata bridge, near Eminonu. They will meet in an hour.

Despicable Muka rummages through Kerim’s bag and finds the letters Fatma wrote to him. Next, Muka runs to Fatma’s room and finds the letters Kerim wrote to her. Muka cries silent tears. [I’ll bet she’s jealous as hell that she will never have a love like this]
Mustafa helps lead Meltem and her mom through the press mob waiting outside the hospital.

He tells Meltem he is staying tonight, they can talk later. Hacer sees the press is taking their pics, too, and worries they will be published. Hacer wants to head to the airport, but Musto tells her he wants to stay in case Meltem needs them. Hacer gets snippy, Meltem won’t need her, but Musto can stay to take care of her.

Serdar is back in Ildir, he runs into Halide and Emin. He finds out that Mustafa is not coming to visit. Emin says it seems something happened. Serdar unintentionally spills the beans, I think your DIL is shy/ Halide gasps, he married that married that whore? Serdar says that’s not what he said. Emin wants info. Serdar says he doesn’t know much, Mustafa was going to bring Hacer “to kiss your hands.” That’s all I know.

Halide asks, who is Hacer? Mustafa’s wife. Serdar regrets opening his mouth, don’t tell Musto I told you. They want to know who Hacer is. Serdar says she is a really nice girl. How do you know her, Emin asks. Serdar gets nervous that Musto will be mad at him for talking. Emin presses and Serdar says he was at their wedding. Halide cries, this is just what we needed! Who knows who he married!

Serdar says she will love her. He shows them a pic. Emin says that’s Asu, not Hacer. Halide exclaims, God curse her! Emin calls Musto. You gave your name to that woman?! You betrayed us, you don’t exist for us anymore! We are not your parents! Halide begs Emin not to say that. Emin hangs up but Mustafa pretends for Hacer’s sake that he is talking nicely with his mother.

Cut: Halide carries on in front of Serdar. She seduced him, ruined his life. May God punish her! Emin is livid, he forbids her to cry. No more shedding tears for him! We do not have a son called Mustafa anymore! He storms off and a sobbing Halide follows.
Cut: Kerim has a flash back to being in Istanbul with his mom and dad and he was impressed by the big bridge. Now, his father meets him on the bridge. Kerim sit nearby.

Fahr asks Kerim if he remembers the first time he took him here. You were 5 years old. Kerim lies and says he doesn’t remember. He avoids looking directly at his father. He takes his mother’s letter out, what do you know about this? He places it in front of Fahr.

Kerim quotes the letter without reading it, [Turkish] “I am going away. I only worry about you. I know that your father will take you under his wings when I am gone. He’s mad at me, that’s why he didn’t take you. But he will come back. He will come for you. I’ve been the only barrier between you and happiness. When I am gone, you two will start a new life. You will eventually forget about me.” Kerim tells his father, read it, it’s carved into my mind.

Fahr says, I loved your mother very much. I waited for her for 11 years. Read it, Kerim tells his father, and he gets up to sit at another table. Fahr reads the letter.

Fatmagul #42 part 2

Mustafa calls Rose Kitchen and gets Rahmi on the line. He wants to talk to Fatma but she tells Rahmi to take the message. Musto says he’s got great news for her, so Fatma takes the phone. Turaner left a letter for the prosecutor before he died, he says, it’s about your case. He reported what the Yasarans did that night. Really, she says, I can’t believe it. She gets emotional. Do you know what this means?

Fatma holds the phone and tells Meryem that Turaner wrote against the Yasarans. He told everything that happened that night. She goes back to Mustafa and asks if he is kidding. She is sorry for Turaner’s death, but this is the best news for her. Mustafa knows, that’s why he wanted to speak with her personally. Hacer walks up and hears Musto say, everything will change for you, Fatmagul.

Fatma says, they will be punished, that’s all she needs. Thank you, Mustafa. Hacer sits down in front of a slightly uncomfortable Musto. Fatma can’t thank him enough. He says he will call her again if he hears anything else. End call.

There’s joy in the Rose Kitchen! Meryem calls Kadir and Fatma says to call Kerim, too. Kadir will go to Ankara if necessary.

Hacer asks Musto, did you call, or she called you? I called her about the letter, he answers. You never waste an opportunity, she says. Don’t start, he replies. Now you are an angel, Hacer snarks. Musto says, shouldn’t I tell her? Hacer replies he’s only fooling himself. You still think about Fatmagul. Musto takes her hand, why do you talk this way?

If she knew the truth, Hacer says, if she knew what I know, would she be with you? I am the only one who loves you, despite everything. [and we wonder why] Musto knows but doesn’t look happy about it.

Fahrettin explains he saw Enise at a relative’s wedding. When I first saw her I said, “I will marry that girl.” I wanted to talk to her, but she ran away. I thought she was playing hard to get. [Turkish] In those times, coyness was customary in a woman. Weeks later, I went with my uncle to ask your grandfather’s permission to marry her. And he gave it. But we didn’t know that she had been sent away to keep her from that other man. They didn’t want your mother to marry a poor man like him. I didn’t know. Kerim avoids looking at his father as he tells the story.

Kerim gets a call from Fatma and shuts his phone. Fahr continues his story. She was with her aunt in Kutahya. She came back to get engaged. Her parents said they would forgive her only if she married me. That gets Kerim’s attention. And she did it not to upset her mother, Fahr says. How was I to know?

Fatma can’t reach Kerim so she decides to go to the workshop.

Fahr says, [Turkish] I was too blindly in love to see that the woman I loved was actually my captive. I forced her to live with me. The lack of love made me become an angry man. Kerim says, I always saw those eyes that looked at my mother with anger.

You were the one most affected by it, Fahr says, that’s why I can never forgive myself. [Turkish] I’m not asking you to forgive me or understand me. I just wanted you to know the truth. I thought when I left, she would have to come with me. I never thought she would do what she did. It never crossed my mind. And then… I wasn’t in a situation where I could come back to take you. I tortured myself, lived a miserable life. When I pulled myself together, my courage was gone.

Fahr puts his hand on Kerim’s. Kerim flashes to taking his father’s hand as a child. I am the guilty one, Fahr says, I suffer daily. I tried to express myself in each letter. I hoped you would read them so you would learn the truth. Kerim pulls his hand away.

Fatmagul #42 part 3

And I wished that this boy wouldn’t have been abandoned, Kerim says. That he wasn’t raised by strangers. Fahr understands. You didn’t even leave someone to take care of me, Kerim says. I wished you felt this guilt a long time ago, Fahrettin Bey, then my life wouldn’t have been this disaster.

Fatma shows up at the workshop and finds out he doesn’t work there anymore. Usta says he is a talented man, he should be able to find other work or could even open a new workshop.
It’s evening and Meryem tells Fatma that Kadir thinks Kerim might have gone to see his father. He gave him his address this morning.

Muka sends Rahmi and Murat off to the shed for the night. Cut: she lingers outside Fatma’s room and when Meryem comes out she asks if there is news from Kerim. Meyem shakes her head no. Muka says he’s probably out getting drunk because of whatever is in that letter. Meryem just sighs and walks away.

Fatma works on Kerim’s sweater. She hears a car pull up and runs to the window. It’s Kerim. He stops at the door then turns away. Fatma opens the door and calls to him and follows. I was calling you all day. What happened? I’m sorry, he replies. Where were you? I met with Fahrettin Ilgaz. Muka is craning her neck out the window to catch the happenings. [I wish she would fall out] She goes to find a better spot to spy from.

Fatma asks, how do you feel? Relieved? He didn’t tell me anything new, Kerim says. He’s sorry, he regrets, he wants me to forgive him. He is married, Kerim says. He feels guilty but he continued with his new life. Does he have children, Fatma asks. Flashback: Fahr tells Kerim he has a sister, Deniz. I don’t have a sister, Kerim answers him, you have a daughter. Don’t try to put together a family now. End flash.

Kerim continues, as if we could just pick up from the moment that he left. What does he think? It’s not that easy. [Turkish] He said, “your sister.” Fatma asks how old is she? Kerim doesn’t know, he didn’t ask. He’s not interested. Kerim says good night. We see Muka spying.

Fatma and Meryem prepare breakfast. Kerim gets out of the shower. He says he’s leaving for the day. Meryem says she made his favorite omelet. He just asks, where are my shirts? Fatma says most of his clothes are in her wardrobe. Come. Fatma gives him a shirt. She tells him she has a therapy appointment today. Why don’t you come with me, she says. You could talk to her. I think you need help, too.

Kerim closes the door. I can’t think about that now, he says. She tells him not to put this aside or his problems will become bigger. Kerim says what he needs is money, a job. We are broke. And I’m not going to ask Fahrettin Ilgaz for help. Fatma didn’t say that. Let me worry about money, Kerim says and he walks out.

Kadir stops Kerim as he leaves the house. He tells Kerim about Turaner’s letter. He has to go to Ankara. Kerim is happy but not so happy when Rahmi says Mustafa called to tell Fatma. The Yasarans are done. Inshallah, Kerim says, have a good trip.

Fatma is at therapy. We were closer to each other when we were apart. We were braver on paper. At least I was. It was easier to get closer when we wrote letters. It’s strange, I thought it would be better when he got out. The therapist asks if she missed Kerim while he was away. Yes, she did. Now it’s different. I know he is suffering but he won’t let me get close. In the past, it was him who wanted to help me get better. But he built walls between us. We don’t share or even have conversations. I can’t find a way to help him.

fatmagul #42 part 4

The therapist says, do you realize you said “in the past”? Yes, as if we’ve been a couple for a long time, she answers. Do you feel better compared to before, the therapist asks? I used to feel safer with him back then, Fatma replies. I was worried and sad when Kerim was in jail. I feared that he would be sentenced for a crime he didn’t commit. It was like we were on the same side. We fought together. It should continue like that. Shouldn’t he share his problems with me?

Therapist asks, he used to share his problems with you? Yes, but it was different then. I know you are trying to say he is doing what I did to him. But it’s different. The therapist says Kerim is going through a traumatic time. Accepting this will make you feel better. Fatma doesn’t know, she doesn’t like what is happening. It’s like he’s punishing himself with loneliness. He doesn’t spend time with us and when he does, he doesn't speak to any of us.

We see Kerim job hunting. Fatma says he can’t find work. He comes home disappointed and wants to be alone. He doesn’t sleep until late at night. And he’s started to drink and sometimes comes home drunk. Lately it’s every night. We see Kerim drinking. Meryem is very affected by this, but she can’t say anything. It’s like alcohol will erase everything.

We see Kerim looking at his phone: incoming call, Fahrettin Bey. Fatma says his father was a stranger who wrote many letters he refused to read. And when they met, his life changed radically. No mater what he wants, his father exists.

People from the prosecutor’s office come to question the Yasarans about Turaner. Let’s not panic Munir says. Do like we talked about. Stay calm. Don’t make mistakes.
Kerim is at Rose Kitchen. He had another interview that didn’t go well. Who would want to hire a murderer, he says. Fatma tries to stay positive. Kerim worries about their debts. They can’t pay on time. Fatma says Meryem worked something out. Kerim wants to sell the truck. Fatma says they need it for work. Fatma wants to talk, Kerim says there’s nothing to talk about. He starts snapping at everyone.

Then he sees a call come in from Mustafa on Fatma’s phone. She tells him to answer it, he must have news. Kerim just takes the orders out for delivery. Fatma answers the phone. Musto tells her the prosecutor is taking the Yasarans’ statements about Turaner. Fatma knows already. Mustafa also tells her that Meltem will testify on Fatma’s behalf. Kerim watches as Fatma speaks to Musto. Fatma says he doesn’t need to keep calling. Am I bothering your husband, Musto asks. You are bothering me, Fatma replies and hangs up.
Erdo pursues Dr. Nil. If you care, you can discuss.

Cut: Muka stirs trouble at the dinner table. Poor girl wanted Kerim out of jail and he doesn’t even come home right way and comes home drunk every night. They do their best to ignore her, but it’s hard. Muka says Kerim used to be mad at her only but now he’s mad at everyone. She laughs.

Fatma gets a call from Meltem. She says she is on Fatma’s side and they will pay for what they have done. Those worms will get what they deserve. You will win, don’t worry. Fatma thanks her.

Erdo comes home and is told that Turaner’s secretary told all about Yasemin. They are looking for her everywhere. Erdo thinks she won’t be found and if she is, she won’t betray them.

Cut: Fahr’s guys have been tailing Kerim. They inform him Kerim’s been out all day looking for work with no luck. They track him down to a bar where he’s been drinking heavily.

Fatmagul #42 part 5

Fahr goes to Kerim. Why are you following me, Kerim asks. Fahr sits. He says he doesn’t have much time, he needs to return to Australia. Why should I care, Kerim replies. Fahr says, before I go… Kerim interrupts, Fahrettin Bey, please go peacefully, because this time you re not leaving anything behind here. I’m not at peace, Fahr says, while you are surrounded by the Yasarans. But I warned them. [Turkish] I told them their fate is waiting if they keep messing with my son.

Kerim is upset. Who asked you to do that? How dare you? I didn’t want them to think you were on your own, Fahr replies. Kerim answers, I have always been alone, I’ve never needed you and I don’t need you now. It doesn’t have to be like this, Fahr says. I know you don’t have enough money. I know these are difficult times. How dare you, Kerim growls. I only want to help you, Fahr says.

Kerim says, you think I would ask help from a stranger? Never. I learned I should never trust anyone. You are my son, even if you say you don’t care, Fahr tells him. You and Deniz have all… Kerim interrups, shut up. Stop the theatrics. Don’t try to be a father with your money, Shhh. Okay, we spoke but this ends here, Kerim tells him.

Cut: Kerim gets up and puts money on the table. Everyone goes their separate ways, he says. Kerim walks into another bar down the street. Meanwhile Fatma irons Kerim’s sweater while everyone else in the house is asleep.

Fatma hears the gate outside and sees Kerim stumble towards the house. She hurries to open the door for him and he smiles at her, you waited up for me? She notes that he is very drunk. He laughs and says, look at us. We are like a married couple of 40 years. She tells him to be quiet and to come in. He says the drunk husband comes home and the wife keeps nagging. He comes in and almost falls. He grabs onto a part of the wall. She wants to make him coffee, he doesn’t want it. She’s making it anyway. End cut.

Kerim stumbles up the stairs. Fatma is in the kitchen making his coffee. He sees the sweater in Fatma’s room. She comes in. You made this, he asks. Yes it’s for you. They go out on the balcony. She tries to get him to drink the coffee. He leans so far over the railing she gets scared and asks him back inside.

He sits on her bed. Why did you have to drink so much, she asks? Why not, he responds. Drink this. He takes a small sip. [Turkish] So what I see is the truth? And what I feel [is the truth]? [that’s what she said to him the other day when he questioned her about the similarities between his mother and her] Why do you bring that up now, she asks and closes her door.

I don’t believe what I see or what I feel anymore, he tells Fatma, I believed a lie for so many years like an idiot. I don’t want to be fooled again. I don’t want to be a burden that you or others are forced to carry, Fatmagul. [Turiksh] I don’t want to condemn a woman into a loveless life like that man did. I don’t want that. Don’t accept the life imposed on you like my mother did. Do you hear me? Don’t feel obliged to be with me.

Fatma asks what does that have to do with us? He grabs her wrist. A lot to do with us… a lot. We are so much like them. That man is just like me. He did to my mother what I am doing to you. He enslaved her. He wanted to live with a woman who didn’t love him, like me. And my mother was like you, she never gave up her true love.

She tries to get up but he’s got a tight grip on her wrist. Kerim, you’re scaring me, she says. What are you talking about? You still love Mustafa, he says, and you will always love him. She jumps up, are you crazy? He gets up and accuses, you still love him. You’re saying this because you are drunk, she tells him. No matter what, you can’t turn your back on him, Kerim says. It’s nonsense, she replies. He presses her to confess.

Fatmagul #42 part 6

He’s angry. She goes to leave the room but he grabs her and turns her around. I love you so much, he says. He’s holding her arms. She pleads with him, that’s enough. She struggles. You wanted me to see, you wanted me to feel, he tells her, I need you for that. He has her against the door. No, Kerim!

He moves right in on her. I want you to love me, he says. She shouts and pushes him off, let me go! He moves on her again and she cracks him across the face! He feels the sting and realizes what he has done. That was the end of Turkish ep 45.

I can’t believe they cut all of this: Meryem forces her way into the room. Muka is behind her. What’s going on? Fatma cries. Kerim rushes out of the room and down the stairs with Meryem following. Fatma sinks to the floor. Muka asks her what was he doing in your room? Did he do something to you? Fatma sobs and Muka leaves, closing the door. Kerim closes himself in the study and Meryem races back up to Fatma. Muka says, he did something to her!

Meryem goes into the room. She closes the door in Muka’s face. Fatma is so upset, she can’t talk right away. Kerim goes outside and he hears Fatma tell Meryem, he was so drunk, talking nonsense and taking his anger out on me. Muka listens by the door. He changed so much since he received that letter, Fatma sobs, he’s become a different man. He’s angry at his mom and dad and is taking it out on me! All the rage he has been collecting, he unleashed it on me.

Meryem tries to comfort her. Fatma says Kerim thinks I love Mustafa. He said, “you love him.” How dare he say that? He forced me to admit it. He didn’t listen. He doesn’t believe me. He was out of his mind! He has no right to do this to me! As if I want anything to do with Mustafa! Why is he doing this to me? Kerim is still listening to all this from down below and can’t take anymore, he goes back inside. Meryem says it’s the alcohol. He will regret it when he sobers up. Fatma says Kerim is obsessed with Mustafa. He thinks our situation is the same as his parents. I was so scared.

Kerim leaves the house. Fatma worries he shouldn’t leave in this condition. Meryem says let him go and she should go wash her face.
In the morning Fatma looks at the sweater folded on her bed and cries. Meryem brings her a breakfast tray and asks Muka to close the door behind her. Meryem tells Fatma to stay home and rest today. Fatma would rather work than face Muka’s questioning. Meryem says she will take care of that. End of cuts.

Muka explains to Rahmi what happened during the night. Ugh, she blames Fatma for giving Kerim hope and then pushing him away, playing with him like a toy. Meryem comes out to sit at the table. Meryem asks Muka to come to the restaurant today to help. Muka objects because of her condition. Meryem says she won’t have to do anything difficult. Muka resists. It goes back and forth. Finally Meryem comes clean. She says Fatma is staying home and needs to rest without being bothered. Muka makes a condition, tell me what happened last night. [I cannot hate this woman any more than I already do]

Munir prepares Selim for questioning. They wait for Erdo to come downstairs. Hilmiye tells Erdo everyone is blaming him for Turaner. Should I care? If you want to discuss, please do.

Kadir is in Ankara. He speaks with Ender and Meltem. The letter is a claim but it needs to be backed up with statements so they can be charged. Otherwise, they can claim slander, revenge. Meltem says she will speak up. Kadir says he needs all the details from the beginning. The night that Fatma was raped. Even the tiniest detail can be important.

Meltem and Ender begin to talk and Kadir takes notes. They recall Muka showing up. We see the flashback. Meltem recalls Resat slapping Selim. These are all details we know already, so I’ll skip over them.

Fatmagul #42 part 7

A real estate agent shows a woman through Hilmiye’s house. House is sold.

Resat gets a delivery and Perihan takes it and opens it. It is a disk from Yasemin and printed on it: “if you don’t protect me, I’ll have to talk.” There are pictures, too. Resat and Yasemin together. Erdo and Yasemin. Perihan heads upstairs and puts the disk in a computer. It’s audio of Erdo making the deal with Yasemin to trap Turaner. She hides the disk and pics and burns the envelope.

Cut: Mehmet wakes Kerim. He spent the rest of the night at Rose Kitchen. Your family will be here soon. Memhet heated some leftovers for him. Kerim is in bit of a daze. He says he will leave the keys if anyone needs the truck and he goes.

Kadir’s phone call wakes Fatma. He tells her the good news about Ender and Meltem. He will be back later tonight.

Cut: they arrive at Rose Kitchen and see the truck. Mehmet tells them that Kerim left for home and left the truck for them. Muka says what if they get into it again? See, I wish I stayed home.

Kerim comes home. Fatma is in the shower. The house is quiet. He looks around a little and goes into his room. He gets clothes and heads upstairs to take a shower. He looks around, it’s quiet upstairs, too. Fatma gets out of the shower and puts on her robe. Kerim opens the door as Fatma was about to exit. They both jump. He apologizes in a hurry. [Turkish] Don’t be afraid. I won’t do anything to you. He says he made a mistake last night, it won’t happen again. I thought no one was home.

Fatma holds her robe together tightly. She can’t hold back her tears. He says, I swear in that moment I hated myself. You can’t imagine how sorry I am. She cries and rushes off to her room and cries some more.

Yasar is talking to some fishermen in Ildir about Vural’s murder. Serdar is there, listening in. He asks them where it happened. They say the murderer came in by sea. Do you know? They ask Yasar if he is a policeman. No, he’s just curious. Serdar asks why he is so curious. Yasar says he knew the guy who died, He worked for my bosses, the Yasarans. Mustafa knew him too. Was he here that night? Serdar interrupts again, what the hell do you want? What are you trying to do? Listen, we don’t like the Yasarans here and especially their men. Serdar tells him to get lost.

Serdar calls Mustafa and tells him that Yasar was here asking questions about the murder. He asked about you, Mustafa. I didn’t let him talk too much. I didn’t tell him you were in town that night. I didn’t tell him you took the boat out. They could slander you and cause problems. Musto says he’s not afraid of anyone. He has no business with the Yasarans anymore. They will talk later, he’s at the bank now. Don’t tell anyone else, Musto says.

Musto tells the banker that he wants to his close accounts he might be going abroad with his wife.

Cut: Fatma goes downstairs and can hear Kerim in his room. She runs back upstairs to get the sweater, but by the time she comes back, he’s closing the front door behind him. She goes in his room and watches him walk from the window. She looks pensive.

Muka stirs the pot. She wants to call Fatma. Meryem says she’s sleeping. If Kerim is home, she has to be awake. Meryem ignores her comments and Muka wonders why she can’t talk about it. But she will keep talking. [Turkish] She says this is Fatma playing coy. She was so excited about Kerim getting out. She counted the days, wrote letters. Sent him her romantic words, full of love.

Fatmagul #42 part 8

Meryem says, you read their letters? No, Muka lies, it’s just very obvious. [Turkish] She gave him hope when he was away but gives him the elbow when he comes near. It’s wrong. She’s lucky Kerim puts up with it. He’s a young and healthy man, I don’t know how long he can keep his patience. Meryem loses her patience with Muka. They can flirt, they can fight… that’s none of your business. Don’t meddle.

Kerim gets a call from his ex-boss. He feels bad for rejecting him. He has some work for him. He asks him to come back if he is available. Kerim says are you sure? You might regret it if I’m found guilty of murder. [Turkish] the boss says don’t make me feel ashamed, Kerim. The work is waiting. You can start tomorrow. Call ends and we see Fahrettin sitting next to Kerim’s boss. Fahr says this stays between us. Kerim can’t know, no matter what. As long as he works here, I will help you get plenty of work. He warns if Kerim finds out or if you give him any problems, we will have problems. It’s a deal.

Cut: Fahr tells his driver, Mumtaz, that he will stay in Turkey until after Kerim’s trial and for him to arrangements. Mumtaz says Deniz won’t be happy, she hasn’t seen her dad in a long time. Fahr says her brother has been waiting for me for 19 years. She has to be patient. Besides, she is eagerly waiting for the day she gets to meet her brother. She knows I’m here for him.

Kerim goes to the water, tears the letter and lets the pieces float away.

Cut: Mustafa comes home. Hacer is not there. He looks a plane ticket for New York.
Hacer is meeting with Leman. Leman is showing her pictures of Vural when he was small. Leman remembers and cries. She wants Hacer to tell her about Vural. Hacer says she already told her. One more time please. Hacer says Leman is torturing herself. Leman says she has no one else to talk to. Semsi runs from her. If I don’t talk about Vural, I feel I will forget him, she says.

Hacer starts to cry and it’s not about Vural. She found out today that she is pregnant. Leman says that’s good news. No it isn’t, Hacer replies, I am very scared. She gets a call from Mustafa. Come home quickly, he tells her, the Yasarans are causing problems for us again. We have to leave the city. Leman hopes she can see Hacer again. It makes her feel better.

Meryem comes home and asks Fatma if Kerim is there. No. Has she heard from him? No.

The Yasarans give their testimony in Ankara. Munir says so far so good. Selim sees Meltem. Kadir is with her. Arguments and accusations fly. She calls them murderers. Feel free to discuss.

Kerim is drinking in a bar again. He calls Kadir. Ah, you are still in Ankara, Kerim says. Kadir says he will be home tonight. Kerim wishes he was here now. I can’t go home, Kerim says. I can’t look Fatmagul in the eyes anymore. I ruined everything again. We are back to the beginning. Fatmagul hates me. Kadir doesn’t understand, he’s alarmed. What happened?

[Turkish] I scared her, Kerim says, I wanted to touch her. Oh, no, Kadir says, you shouldn’t have. Kerim says I am no animal, at least not that kind of animal. I didn’t want to scare her. I don’t want to scare her ever again. I want to erase this fear from her eyes. But she looked at me in that way again and she is right. I don’t know who is right and who is wrong anymore. The only truth in my life is Fatmagul.

Kerim continues, I read my mother’s letter. I know my mother’s true story. [Turkish] I found out my mother never belonged to me. That’s not true, Kadir says. It is, Kerim replies. My existence wasn’t a good enough reason for her to live. She never loved me.

Fatmagul #42 part 9

Your mother wasn’t in good health, Kadir says. I don’t think the same way, Kerim says, my mother killed herself for the man she really loved. She left her son. Who can I trust now, abi? How can I be sure Fatmagul forgot Mustafa? Kadir says that’s not rational. Kerim says he wanted Fatma to say that she loves him. Kadir says she will.

Kerim says, that day in court, Fatma was behind me and Mustafa was behind her and when I turned around, she was looking at him. Kadir says she just looked out of coincidence. No, Kerim is convinced there’s something to that look. Fatma has never forgotten Mustafa and never will. [Turkish] Deep inside, Fatmagul will always wish that she could be his bride. I am part of this nightmare that gave her this life. Fatmagul never forgave me and she never will. She puts up with me because it’s the easiest. But I know she hates me.

Kadir thinks Kerim is totally off base. [Turkish] She settled her past accounts. She cut that out and threw it away. She doesn’t hate it anymore because she doesn’t even care about it. Do you hear me? She doesn’t care about Mustafa. She only talked to him to save you. How many bad things have you two gone through? Think about it. I can’t forget, Kerim replies, it’s always on my mind. Kadir says, you took many little steps and your relationship grew in a year. Don’t you think?

Kerim says he destroyed it all in a second. Fatma knows you, Kadir tells him, she knows your heart, your intentions, and your miseries. Nothing has ended. Kerim is convinced that Fatma will not forgive him.

Fatma irons and Muka comments about the evil eye, they could never catch a break. Muka says the trial is coming soon and she will be a witness this time. We will win. Meryem enters the room and Muka says told Fatma things will get better. [Turkish] She didn’t want to marry but see how upset she is when he is away. Fatma flashes back to Muka and Munir telling her she had to marry Kerim and she ran to the bathroom and puked.

It’s been some year, Muka says. Fatma thinks back to her wedding. Muka says Fatma’s anniversary is around this time. Yes, it just passed. We could have celebrated it if you two were getting along, Muka replies. She helps Meryem fold a sheet. Meryem tells her to use her hands and not her mouth.

Musto is planning their getaway. We could spend some days in Moscow. It’s beautiful. Then we can go to Talinn. We can hop on a ship there and go to Finland. Then we can get a visa from there and go to America. What do you think? Hacer has been quiet. She says she doesn’t want to escape. We are not escaping, he says. You’re fooling yourself, Hacer says.

What do we want, he asks, to wait for a knock on the door and for them to trap me? What should I do? Go on my own? I don’t want to leave you again. Why, she asks, are you afraid I’m going to say something? Would you sell me out, he asks? Listen, I want to start a new life with you, Musto says, without problems.

We are always escaping, Hacer tells him, we can’t settle down. What if we have a child? Mustafa jumps, we can’t have a child. We spoke about this. A child will slow us down. Please, I’m asking you, understand. Hacer gets up and Musto stops her. When this is over, we can think about it. Please let’s not talk about this matter again.

And we are out.

Thank you, dondi356.

It is sad how Kerim and Fatmagul are falling apart. Kerim really blew it. Fatmagul's reaction after the slap was important, disappointing that it was cut. It showed how upset Fatmagul was. Also the scene where she wants to give him the sweater but he already left. This showed that she hasn't given up on him.

About Hacer. "I am the only one who loves you, despite everything. [and we wonder why]" - Really! Isn't it obvious Mustafa is with her to keep her quiet. And now she is pregnant.

Thanks so much, dondi, for another terrific recap, including everything we missed with the cuts.

Bah! Both Turkish dizis I am watching have managed to create a rift between the protagonists. Bad timing for me. I need a little cheerfulness once in a while.

I wonder if there will be any punishment ever for awful Muka. She's actually a sicko. The writers have really shown us her obsessive prying into everything concerning Kerim and Fatmagul's relationship. Reading those letters, my God!

I almost laughed out loud at Erdogan's saying he was going to marry the beautiful doctor. For one thing, he's either going to die or spend long years in jail, unless dizis are very different from TNs. If there's anyone who deserves punishment, it's this self-satisfied jackass. Everything that has happened in this dizi is his fault. He procured the drug that seems to have blocked out shame from the other two. While Kerim caught her around the waist, it was Erdogan who initiated the rape. And there was that awful time he broke into her house, after having Kerim beaten by some thugs he'd hired. I can't remember what stopped him, but I felt he wanted to rape her again.

Dondi, I hadn't seen these episodes before , but your recaps make everything so clear. Muk is awful. She pokes her nose into everybody's business now that she has wormed her way into the main house. Can you imagine living with someone like that?. uff

I have been watching the original Turkish episodes on mute since I can't understand the dialogue. Focusing on only the facial expressions and body language is interesting . These actors are outstanding . They convey so much with just a look or gesture.

In the scenes on the ferry after Kerim was released from jail , Mustafa couldnt stand watching Kevin and Fatmagul together and obviously getting along.

Fatmagul

Thank you Dondi for another fantastic unbelievable recap! I am so in awe of all the work you put into this!

Once again I am flabbergasted by what they cut! Seriously, do these editors even watch this show or know what it is about?? Thank you for including it all. All that stuff with Fatma and Meryem right after the incident with Kerim?? So important!! Sigh

I never pay attention to or care about the Yeserans but I gotta admit I am intrigued by Perihan getting the envelope of all the proof I wonder what she will do with it?

Meltem is now fully team Fatma. She's always supported her but now she will fight with her which honestly would be more exciting if she had some smoking gun evidence or something. I mean it sounds like she can poke holes in some of the Yeseran testimony but not really anything totally incriminating. Kadir should try to flip Leman, she has nothing left to lose and no loyalty to the pact. On the other hand, her sanity is a little suspect.

Muka Muka Muka, she's horrible, awful, nosey and definitely jealous! Still as always I found myself thinking how much I love the actresses facial expressions and mannerisms. She would be fun to have around if she were mute.

Kerim Kerim Kerim, heartbreaking and stupid but that is what trauma looks like. It's a really well done portrayal but I agree with Novelera it's hard to see them go through this just when they were finally starting to find some happiness. There is growth though, because that night didn't cause Fatma to go into full retreat and we see (or didn't see since they inexplicably cut it) the next day she is still trying to reach out to Kerim and bring him his sweater. He scared her, she was upset but she is still moving forward. It's amazing really the strength of character she has.

I love listening to Fatma talking to the doctor because you really see her intelligence and insight. She is so good at expressing herself! No wonder it was easier for her to write letters where she could think and say exactly what she wanted.

Kerim's conversation with Kadir at the end was the most heartbreaking part of the episode to me, but it made me think of something. I think it is going to be a lot harder for Kerim to forgive himself than it is going to be for Fatma to forgive him. He says it's clear that she hates him and will never forgive him, but actually it's pretty clear that she doesn't hate him and probably has forgiven him. So it begs the question, is he projecting his own feelings on to her? It's also really telling that Kerim says 'I wanted her to say she loved me' and Kadir says 'She will's. Not she might, or maybe, or anything else but 'she will'; because Kadir knows what we all know and what has been obvious for quite awhile Fatma does love Kerim and one day she will tell him.
