The recap will be up shortly. I wanted to say thank you to Juanita, Nett, novelera and dondi356 for the excellent recaps of the two-hour episodes last week. I was traveling and finally got caught up. I had a lot of questions but some were answered in this very revealing episode.
I am also grateful to be back to just one hour for recapping and watching. The recappers for this dizi are amazing and the Patio is so much fun with all the great comments, theories and questions. We are on episode 44 of the Turkish version and I am glad we have some answers to all this zany behavior.
One thing I did notice in the last few episodes, there was a lot more kisses on the mouth with ReyMir. Maybe her pretend pregnancy will finally become reality with some bedroom action! We have to get through this latest test first though.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #39
Part 1 of 4
On her new cell phone, Reyyan is calling Miran, but he doesn’t answer. Her phone rings and it is not Miran returning her call, but Aslan. What do you want? I know you don’t want to talk to me, he says, but I just got off the phone with Miran who sounded angry. Did you tell him about the notes? He wants to meet to talk. Reyyan confirms that she didn’t tell Miran anything and discourages Aslan from meeting him. Aslan thinks if he doesn’t meet Miran, he will get suspicious.
Reyyan ask where they are meeting as Mahfuz listens to Aslan’s part of the conversation outside the closed door. Reyyan ends the call, grabs her jacket saying, don’t do anything bad Miran. In her haste to leave, her new phone falls to the floor. She heads out of the konak in search of a taxi, lucky for her, Harun is returning to the house and agrees to drive her.
In his car, Aslan gloats aloud that he is winning the game against HAG. He wonders if she has received his gift. We see HAG in her bedroom, brooding. Mahmoud knocks and brings her a box that was left by a young boy. Opening the box, we see a dark stone and a letter.
The letter says: Are you fearful Azize Aslanbey? Like all villains, your time has come. Soon everyone will find out what happened that night, the real reason for your revenge and its history. Will you be able to look people in the face when that time comes? Can you continue to breath? We will wait and see. Not long now, very soon.
Stunned by the letter, Azize looks and the stone and sees the letters “Di.” Realizing it is a piece of the headstone from Dilsah’s grave, that she had destroyed, she drops the stone and letter in fear. Mahmoud states the obvious as he picks everything up and Azize drops into the chair.
Hazar is still on the couch and having a nightmare. He sees himself shooting Mehmet in the back. Cihan is able to wake him.
Azize and Mahmoud stare at each other. Azize says, someone else other than us knows the truth. We see a memory flashback of Azize speed walking through the alleyways and hearing gunshots. She panics, not my son, not my son. She sees Mehmet standing over the fallen Hazar and Dilsah, holding a pistol. He has been shot in the arm. He tells her, I killed Hazar and Dilsah. It is okay, says Azize, they betrayed you. Come, let’s get you out of here. No, says Mehmet, they did not betray me. Dilsah did not cheat on me. These two loved each other for many years.
A distraught Mehmet says, I killed them and I can’t live with this sin. He puts the pistol to his head and kills himself right in front of Azize (holy smokes, carmella you were right!). Azize is shocked. (I am too). She cries uncontrollably over her son’s dead body. A street urchin, a boy, maybe 8 years old, comes to her and tells her she must leave before she is killed as well. Who are you, yells Azize? I am Mahmoud, says the boy, come with me or you will be killed too. (Another holy smokes! Now we know why these two are so loyal to each other).
Back to the present, Azize stumble over her words trying to figure out how this person knows such details and why now? Suddenly, she has an epiphany. Oh my goodness, why didn’t I think of you before? I know who you are! (Who? Who??). Who is it? asks Mahmoud. Her cell phone rings before we can get an answer. A voice tells her that Aslan and Miran are going to meet in the valley and she better go too and ensure a tragedy does not occur. Come, she tells the Robot, we have to go! Mahfuz is the caller. Disconnecting, he says, if I can’t keep you from hurting Reyyan and Miran, your grandmother will, Aslan. You left me no choice; you will not separate them.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #39
Part 2 of 4
Harun and Reyyan arrive at the end of a dirt road. She jumps out of the car. Harun tells her he cannot just leave her there alone. It is okay, Miran is here, she says, hurrying off in the dark. Harun send Aslan a text: Reyyan is here. I will take care of it, responds Aslan, you go back home. Rolling his eyes, Harun says to himself, I hope you know what you are doing Aslan.
Back at the SAD konak, Cihan continues to try and calm Hazar down, I did it, he tells Cihan. I shot Mehmet. You are not a murderer, says Cihan. The hysterics are stopped by Zehra emerging from somewhere, saying her labor pains are advancing. Hazar rushes upstairs to get Reyyan, (lol) so they can go to the hospital.
Miran waits for Aslan who finally arrives saying, I am here. What do you want to talk to me about? Chihuahua and Stallion face off. Miran claims that everything about Aslan is false, even his name and he is going to prove it. Aslan tries to calm the yippity, yip, but as Miran tries to pull his pistol, Aslan’s height gives him the advantage and they both fall to the ground, continuing to argue, rolling to the edge of a cliff. Miran is dangling over the edge, hanging on to Aslan’s arm. Reyyan is walking below the cliff on a river bank. She sees the fight and then Miran dangling down.
As Aslan struggles to hold on to Miran’s arm, he says, are you wondering now if I will let go? Not to be outdone, Miran raises his pistol and says, are you wondering now if I will shoot? From across the way, on a bridge, HAG watches with Mahmoud. Seeing Miran aiming his pistol at Aslan, she orders the Robot to shoot Miran. Still arguing, Aslan tells Miran to lower his weapon and he will save him. Save yourself, says Miran, I know you wrote all those notes. Two shots are fired and Miran falls into the river below. Reyyan, screams, Miran!! Aslan looks more than surprised seeing him fall. (I give Miran the large avocado award for that little stunt, if he survives that is).
Aslan and HAG watch as Miran’s body floats down river with Reyyan in hot pursuit. HAG demands the Robot to take her to the spot below.
Back at the SAD casa, Zehra tells Hazar not to wake Reyyan. Cihan brings her some water. They tell Cihan to stay behind in case Gul wakes up. Hazar will take Zehra to the hospital. Cihan is worried about Hazar, saying our dad isn’t here (why is Nasuh on all the solo trips these days?), I can’t let you go in the state you are in. Hazar tells him he is fine; he will call with news.
Aslan is panicking as he drives. What did you say before you fell Miran? Was it about Reyyan? He calls Mahfuz and tells him what happened. He has no idea who shot at them. Mahfuz sure does, Azize. He knows he made a mistake calling her to intervene.
Driving Ms. Azize tells the Robot that they will find Aslan first and then Robo will find Miran and put a bullet in his head. She says the game has now changed since Miran Sadoglu dared to draw a gun on her precious lion. As for Reyyan, shoot her too. She sees Aslan’s truck and has the Robot pull in front of him. She gives Aslan a good slap for putting himself in danger. Did you shoot Miran? No, she hisses, I am not that crazy to shoot my own grandchildren, not yet anyway! You were ambushed! Mahmoud will find Miran, you will come with me. With that, she hops in his truck.
On the river bank where they planted the broken pot flowers, Reyyan pulls Miran to shore. (She can’t drive, but I am glad she can swim). He is alive and suffered a bullet wound to the arm.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #39
Part 3 of 4
In the truck, HAG wants to know what the heck is going on with Aslan and Miran. She plays good grannie for a second, pretending to care about Miran, but then lets Aslan know that she has seen the Reyyan shrine of pictures. Clearly it is because of her that Miran decided to draw a gun on him. Aslan stops the truck and admits that he has fallen in love with Reyyan but will bury that love deep in his heart. HAG orders him to rip it out of his heart. She tells him to stay away from ReyMir, they don’t need his help.
Out in the rocky woods, Mahmoud gives orders to find ReyMir and call him when they do. Behind a tree a young man listens.
Reyyan tries to assess the extent of Miran’s wound. She binds it with a strip from her dress and is able to get him to stand up and walk away, leaving his jacket and I am sure, cell phone, on the river bank.
Back in the truck, HAG tells Aslan that it must be the Sadoglu’s who shot Miran. Aslan thinks to himself, it might have been you trying to protect me knowing that Miran isn’t your grandson. She tells him that Miran will stop at nothing to protect and keep Reyyan. Arriving at his house, HAG tells Aslan to get rid of all the photos of Reyyan. But this is my house (with poor locks and no security), says Aslan. Reyyan is Miran’s wife, spits HAG. I will remove the pictures, says Aslan, I know it has to be that way. The astute HAG says, if I didn’t convince you, then who did? You are asking me? I learned of my past through an anonymous letter, says Aslan, heading into the house.
HAG thinks back to the letter she received earlier that night. Is it you who sent the letter to Aslan? Do you have your finger in all this business? Are you directing Aslan? Was it your intent to have them confront each other? Have you shown mercy to the enemy? (Who the heck is she referring to??).
Hanife and Handan are rocking the baby Ayse trying to get her to sleep. She finally does sleep only to awaken with Cihan’s cell phone. Cihan answers outside the room. It is a man named Halef, who tells him that one of his shepherds overheard Mahmoud and his men looking for ReyMir. Cihan thinks that Reyyan is in her room and goes to check. He is angry to learn that she has left with that degenerate Miran. Halef also tells Cihan that he found Miran’s jacket and a note saying that Nasuh killed Mehmet. (Because the pen Aslan used was certainly filled with water proof ink on waterproof paper).
Cihan thinks, Miran knows and tells Halef that his father didn’t kill anyone. Halef is a follower of the Nasuh cult and says he would never believe anything like that. Cihan tells him to take two of his best men and find Miran before Mahmoud and his posse does. Halef says that Miran has been injured so he couldn’t have gone far. Handan confronts Cihan and tells him to let Reyyan go. He cannot go chasing after her. The new cook and Yaren listen in.
Reyyan is drag walking Miran and sees flashlights in the distance. She does her best to keep him quiet. He regains consciousness to tell her to leave him and go get help. She refuses and drags him closer to a cliff wall, catching her dress on a bush, leaving a clue for the followers.
Hercai: Amor y Venganza – Season 2 Episode #39
Part 4 of 4
Back at the SAD house, Azat hears his parents arguing. Handan tells him that Reyyan has run off again with Miran and to go get his gun to join his father and bring her back. This time Miran will certainly kill him. Azat, with resolve, tells Cihan that Handan is right. If Reyyan wants to be with Miran, they should let her go. He has moved on and finally realized that she will never love him. Even Yaren is stunned to hear him say that he has given up on Reyyan. (Great, now you can go be happy with crazy ass Gonul). Harun arrives and finds everyone up. He claims that he couldn’t sleep and went for a walk. Handan makes Cihan sit down and orders him a coffee.
Apparently, the labor/delivery with Zehra has taken a bad turn. She and Hazar are loaded into an ambulance heading to a hospital that can support the birth. Hazar calls Cihan and lets him know what is going on. Hazar ends the call but Cihan pretends to still be on the call and that Hazar needs him. He leaves Azat in charge and heads out not to meet Hazar but Halef. We see him, Halef and another minion walking right near where ReyMir were. Cihan finds the piece of Reyyan’s dress on the bush. They cannot be too far away, he says. Halef says there are caves everywhere in the hills. We will look in each one, says Cihan.
The Girl Scout Reyyan has managed to pull Miran into a spacious cave and build a large fire with nothing but the dress on her back and sandals on her feet. She hugs him fiercely. Mahmoud has found them and raises his, “I am compensating for something else” (thanks novelera) large pistol, putting them both in his line of fire. From above the cave, he hears Cihan and his posse. He lowers the pistol as he hears Cihan yell that Miran will die that night! The Robot slightly smiles as he slinks away into the shadows. Cihan plays big man with Halef, when he asks if they shouldn’t consult with Nasuh first. I am in charge here and will make the decisions!
Reyyan hears Cihan as well and thinks that he was the one who shot Miran in the first place.
HAG watches Aslan as he burns all the Reyyan pictures (there are a lot!) in a burn barrel.
In the ambulance, the EMT tells the driver to step on it because the baby’s pulse is weak. The driver says the road is too dangerous with curves to go faster. This terrifies Zehra. Hazar tries to keep her calm when suddenly the ambulance driver loses control and the ambulance rolls several times, as the episode ends.
MANY THANKS, VVS, for this superb recap of an extraordinary episode that contained several major reveals and, perhaps, some misdirections as well. You captured it all perfectly and added some priceless asides.
One probable misdirection was Hazar's suddenly "remembering" that he killed Mehmet. I was stunned when he said this, but of course later in the episode we have Azize's more reliable (I hope) flashback where Mehmet confesses to having killed both Dilsah and (he thinks) Hazar. Moreover, he tells Azize that Dilsah didn't betray him, and then, overwhelmed by guilt and regret, he shoots himself in the head right in front of Azize. Wow! And, as you point out, if that weren't enough of a reveal, we also get to see how Mahmoud came to be so devoted to Azize.
I'm relieved to see that you, too, wonder who Azize was referring to as the person behind it all. "It's so obvious!" she says. "Why didn't I realize this sooner?" I felt like a dummy, since it wasn't at all obvious to me. Needless to say, I was much relieved by your reassuring "(Who? Who??)"
So am I right that Harun's showing up in his car just as Reyyan is headed out to meet with Miran was all planned by Aslan? As soon as Harun arrives where Reyyan told him to go and she leaves, he texts Aslan to let him know Reyyan has arrived. My head is beginning to spin.
Later, when Aslan wonders what Miran said right before he fell into the water, is he referring to Miran's saying he knew Aslan wrote all the notes? If so, does this mean that Aslan still doesn't know that Miran knows? My head is spinning faster.
I loved your comment about Halef's finding the note in Miran's jacket: "(Because the pen Aslan used was certainly filled with water proof ink on waterproof paper)." YES! And YES!, too, to "The Girl Scout Reyyan has managed to pull Miran into a spacious cave and build a large fire with nothing but the dress on her back and sandals on her feet."
I also enjoyed your observation about Azat's giving up on Reyyan: "(Great, now you can go be happy with crazy ass Gonul)." I fear you may be right, though I still feel Azat deserves better.
Again, thanks VERY much for this extremely helpful and delightful recap!
Tell them exactly what I told you, Kerim says to Nil. Nil replies she has nothing to do with them. Is that why you’re trying to find out about everything, he asks. I’m trying to understand, she answers. And Kerim says, it’s a shame they are trying to fool you, too.
Listen, there is only one truth, he says. These men did great harm to Fatmagul. They continue to hurt us. If you have the slightest influence on him, if he would listen to you, you need to tell him we are not going to give up. They can’t use Rahmi to blackmail us. And I think you need to stay away from this idiot before it’s too late. Kerim makes a final argument, you chose this profession to help people. You are here to heal their wounds and help them recover. This man is like a virus. His family is a plague. We can’t permit them to hurt more people. Think about it.
Erdo signs his statement. Munir talks to the cops outside the room. We want the truth to come out asap for justice to be served. Kerim is coming down the stairs the same time as Munir is walking by with the cops. He hears Munir say Erdo is the victim of slander. We don’t know if he will have brain damage or not. They will add this to the case file.
Fatma and Kadir chase Murat. He slips and falls and Fatma goes to pick him up. Murat yells at Fatma, don’t touch me! I don’t love you! It’s your fault my father is in jail! Kadir picks Murat up. Murat shouts, you lied to me! My dad is in jail!
Muka comes and takes Murat by the hand. He shouts he wants to see his father. Muka says she will take him. Murat turns to Fatma, I don’t love you! I hate you! Fatma is hurt.
That night, Fatma tells everyone that there’s nothing left to discuss. She’s made her decision, she is dropping the charges. Thank God, Muka sighs in relief. Kerim says don’t do it. Muka thinks Fatma can do it, it’s her decision. She wants to save her brother. Meryem says this is not the right decision. Muka counters, who are you to say if it’s right or wrong?! You think you know it all, but I’m the one who suffers in the end!
Meryem says they all care about Rahmi at least as much as Muka does. She turns to Fatma again, are you going to give up? Succumb to those idiots? Kerim says he won’t allow it. Muka starts in with him. What’s it to you, she asks? She is going to save her brother. Kerim repeats he won’t let this happen.
Muka shouts at Kerim that he lost his chance when he let the worst thing happen to Fatma. Kerim flinches, don’t talk nonsense! I’m telling the truth, Muka asserts, it all happened before your eyes! Fatma says weakly, yenge, enough. That stops nothing. Kerim fires back, look, woman. I went to the police and confessed! What did you do? Meryem gets up and tells Kerim that’s enough. She tells Muka she has no rights to speak on that subject.
Really, Muka replies, it’s bad to defend my husband? I am worried for Rahmi and Fatmagul. Meryem answers, if you are really worried about Fatma, then why did you negotiate with the Yasarans and not go to the police? [we are getting to the real reason.] Muka gets quiet. Meryem continues, why didn’t you protect Fatma? The only reason you want this case to end is because you know you will be accused as well. [bingo!] Muka asks, are you blaming me? It’s because of me that these two are married. Kerim tells Muka she is just as bad as them [the Yasarans]
Fatma shouts, that’s enough! I can’t take anymore! Meryem hurries downstairs. Fatma continues, I only want those animals out of our lives. I’m going to drop the charges and I never want to see them again! Is that clear?! Kadir asks Fatma to trust him. I’m going to ruin their plans, he says. How will you do that, she answers. This nightmare will never end. It grows day by day and each time it’s more dangerous. Let’s end it now!
Meryem comes back with a couple of boxes of cards and letters addressed to Fatma. Tell these people what you just said. Tell them you are not the brave woman they thought. Tell them you are a coward. Take their hope. Tell it to the women you said would never be alone. Tell them that evil prevailed and tell them to their faces that you gave up and lost. Tell them they committed an error to believe in you. Kerim says Meryem is right.
Meryem continues, you are going to ruin the hopes of all who support you. Don’t you realize that? The restaurant is filled with boxes. Our rooms are, too. This isn’t just your case. If you have forgotten, read these and remember. Fatma says she didn’t forget. Muka objects. She grabs a few letters, these are just pieces of paper, my husband is real! Only pieces of paper, Meryem asks? She urges Fatma to read them and then make her decision. Muka tells Fatma to think of her brother.
Rahmi is in bad shape. His cellmates gather around his bunk. He’s got awful, painful rashes and the medicines he took didn’t work. One says it’s psoriasis. [It looks and sounds like shingles to me.]
Looks like Halide isn’t doing well either. She’s in bed and Hacer is feeding her soup. Halide can’t eat much. Musto’s phone rings and Hacer picks it up. It’s Serdar. He has good news, he found a boat. Hacer is surprised and Serdar asks if she knew. Hacer lies… yes. She says Musto is in the shower and she will have him call back. Serdar is concerned he spoiled a surprise. No, Hacer says she knew.
Musto gets out of the shower and Hacer says, it looks like we are going to escape. Serdar has a boat. Musto is happy. Hacer asks, were you going to tell me? He hugs her and says they are leaving very soon. Hacer worries about the Yasarans. Musto says no one will stop them. Halide eavesdrops.
Fatma looks at the letters in her room. Muka comes in and asks Fatma to hold Elif while she prepares her meal. [Just another ploy on Muka’s part.] Show her your love, Muka says, her father can’t. Don’t do this, Fatma replies.
Muka continues, he won’t be able to see her grow up. He won’t remember her as a baby. He will miss her first smile and sounds, her baby scent, too. I wonder what he’s doing in jail right now. When she grows up she will ask why there are no baby pics with her father. I’m wasting my breath, Kerim will never let you save your brother, Muka says. She leaves.
Meryem makes note of Muka’s ploy. First she didn’t want Fatma to take care of the baby and now she asks her for help. She’s manipulating her. Meryem can understand to a point. It’s a dilemma. But Muka isn’t giving Fatma time to think it through. Kerim asks how is she supposed to make the right decision with so much pressure?
Kadir says this is a big opportunity for the Yasarans. If we only had more time, then I’d know what to do. But Kadir doesn’t want to reveal anything yet. There is luck involved and he doesn’t want to get Fatma’s hopes up. He says in the meantime, we have to prevent Fatma from making a bad decision.
Muka calls her favorite lawyer, Munir Telci. She heard about his offer. She’s looking for more time. Munir says he generously gave until 2p tomorrow. Muka says she will convince Fatma to accept. Munir says doing it or not is Muka’s problem. It’s not easy, she says, the others are trying to guide Fatma. Munir stands firm. Fatma drops the case tomorrow, or you won’t see your husband for months.
Elif cries and Fatma comes out wondering what happened to the baby’s meal. Muka left bottle in the kitchen and went to her room. Fatma goes to get Muka but Kerim stops her. He listens at her door for a moment, then goes in.
Busted! Kerim grabs the phone. Munir says hello. Kerim slams the phone down on the floor and rips into Muka. Munir laughs on the other end. How dare you call that man, Kerim shouts. Murat wakes up, don’t yell at my mother! Muka sings the same old song, my husband is in jail, it’s Fatma’s fault. Kerim says she can stab them in the back as she wants but he won’t let her hurt Fatma. They shout back and forth. Meryem and Kadir push Kerim out of Muka’s room. Muka comes out and takes Elif and Murat back to her room and shuts the door.
The Yasarans talk and they don’t see Peri wheel up by the door. Selim says Kerim will be an obstacle. Munir says we’ve hit Fatma in her weak spot. She has that one idiot brother she needs to protect. She will want to save him. And Muka is helping our case. Tomorrow at 2, Fatma will drop the charges and we can breathe easy.
Cut: Erdo will be discharged tomorrow, and Nil goes to see him. She doesn’t deliver Kerim’s message, but she asks Erdo why he followed that girl. For you, he tells her, to explain myself to you. I would have made her confess the truth to you. Nil says he told the police it was a coincidence they met. What else could I say, Erdo replies. Everyone believes her including you. I have to wipe off this dirt that was thrown on me, because you made me feel this way.
Erdo says, I didn’t touch her, I just wanted to talk but she started screaming and that’s when her brother hit me. Nil says they arrested the man. Erdo asks, and would you set him free? Erdo adds he feels sorry for Rahmi because he’s another victim of his sister. Nil thinks the brother seems naïve. Erdo agrees and blames Fatma and Kerim for what Rahmi did. Nil says then why not punish them instead of him? All this happened because we tried to help them, Erdo answers, I lost my reputation. I almost lost my life. They can go to hell. Nil gets a call and has to go. End cut.
Cut: Fatma sits in her room and has flashbacks of her supporters and of her brother.
Kerim goes to Fatma in her room. She’s not well. Kerim understands if she’s confused. She’s not. It’s clear to her it is her case or her brother. I have to give up one or the other. Kerim says that rejecting the deal doesn’t mean abandoning Rahmi. Kadir is working to save him. Fatma’s not sure about that. If you give up now, he says, everything you have done will be in vain. Fatma can’t allow her brother to suffer for her fault. Kerim says he understands… Fatma interrupts, no one understands, not even you.
If you give up now, Kerim says, you won’t be able to recover. You won’t recover when you know you’re defeated. Your wounds will hurt more. You will carry a heavier burden. Because you didn’t punish them, you will punish yourself for the rest of your life. We won’t have a future if you don’t heal your wounds. It’s not the case you will give up, but our future and our hopes. They will get away with all the damage they have done. Don’t give up your future and give it to them, he pleads. They are the guilty ones. Why should you receive the punishment?
Because I’m tired, she replies. This is out of my control. I can’t beat them no matter what I do. Kerim says this is not the Fatmagul who bravely looked them in the eyes in court. What changed? Don’t accept the deal. There’s hope for Rahmi, Kadir will defend him. Maybe there’s a witness. Perhaps he will get a minimal sentence. Fatma shakes her head. But if you give up now, he tells her, you will condemn yourself to a life sentence.
Erdo is brought up to date by the rest of his rotten family. They all feel hopeful that Fatma will take the deal.
Peri leaves the bank. Yadigar meets her outside. She hands Yadi a briefcase and tells her to go. Whatever happens, don’t say anything about this to anyone. Hide this well, Yadigar. It is very important to me. A question of life or death. Yadi understands and she will protect this with her life. Peri says she is the only one she can trust. She will tell her what to do. Wait for my call.
Cut: Meryem has left early in the morning and so has Kadir. Fatma wanted to let them know that she is going to drop the charges. This makes Muka happy. Muka asks Fatma to drop Murat off at school on her way to the restaurant. Murat refuses to go to school while his father is in jail. Muka tells Murat that his aunt promised to get his dad out of jail. Muka tells Fatma she made the right decision.
Kerim and Fatma arrive at Rose Kitchen. Mehmet is there, Meryem is not. Maybe she went to buy supplies. Mehmet says he has to turn down customers who call because they don’t have much prepared. Less people call each day. Fatma says it’s better now if she concentrates on work. But she flashes on Erdo breaking into the old house and threatening her. She thinks about visiting Rahmi at the jail.
Kadir visits Rahmi at the hospital. He’s got shingles because of the stress. Rahmi asks about his children and his sister and tells Kadir not to tell anyone he’s in the hospital. Kadir tells him that Fatma decided to drop the charges.
Meryem shows up at Rose Kitchen with a woman, Nurdan, who was one of the people who wrote to Fatma. Nurdan has something to tell them. Meryem says she read Nurdan’s letter, and it affected her. So she went looking for her and brought her here. Nurdan has a daughter named Ozge, who is the same age as Fatma.
Nurdan’s husband died and Ozge’s sister got married, so they moved in with them. Nurdan says Ozge used to be a lively girl. She was a great student. Everything was great until one day, I came home from work and found her devastated. I realized what happened and immediately took her to the hospital. She said nothing to the police or the doctors. Kerim is really affected by this. Fatma listens knowingly and intently.
Nurdan continues, whatever happened, how it happened, how she came home, she didn’t say. I haven’t heard my daughter’s voice since that day. She hasn’t spoken to anyone. We never found out who did this to her. She doesn’t even say anything in her nightmares. Her eyes are shut tight, and her hands are clenched in a fist as she struggles on the bed. This has happened every night for the past two years. I don’t know who the monster is that did this. We don’t know if he is around us or fled. Kerim can’t listen to it anymore and goes outside.
My daughter hasn’t left the house, Nurdan says, but that monster is out there and free. He made my daughter a prisoner in her own house and he continues living his life. I am afraid she will do something to herself so I can’t leave her alone. We have to watch her all the time. Nurdan tells Fatma her daughter smiled for the first time when she saw her on TV. She paid attention. And the next day she read the newspaper article about you and cried in silence.
I used you as an example, Nurdan says. “Look, Fatmagul doesn’t remain silent. No one will take away her life again because she will fight. She won’t give up. This is not something to be ashamed of.” Fatma starts to cry. Nurdan says Fatma is her daughter’s hope. She was looking forward to hearing of your victory. And I hoped Ozge would get her life back with the courage you gave her. Do it for her, please. Fatma sobs.
Peri shows up at Erdo’s hospital room. She is there to speak with Munir. She tells him to go to the prosecutor before 2p and tell him Erdo is dropping the charges. Do it before Fatma arrives. Resat asks if she eavesdropped. Peri tells Munir to do as she told. Resat objects. Hilmiye enters the room.
Peri says she won’t watch while he hurts people. Resat says she’s making this worse. I’m not going to let you blackmail that poor girl, she says. I told you what would happen if you hurt her or her family. Peri warns if Erdo doesn’t drop the charges, I’m going to give them up. Erdo and Selim. Resat says that’s ridiculous. You know I won’t permit this. Peri says she can’t be stopped.
I took precautions, Peri says. Someone is waiting at the prosecutor’s office for my call. If Erdo doesn’t drop the charges, I’ll talk. I warned you. This is in your hands, Resat. He blows up. She calmly says if Munir doesn’t do what I say, you’re finished.
Slight cut at the beginning of this scene: Nil shows up in Erdo’s room. Too many people and too much noise she says. Peri repeats, Munir will do what I say, then she adds, but I want an answer from you Erdogan. This is where we come in.
Erdo looks at Nil. I… won’t press charges against Rahmi Ketenci. Don’t try to change my mind. That poor guy won’t be punished because of his disgusting sister. I’m tired of this dirty case. May God give them their punishment. Peri sends Munir off. Erdo says his conscience is clean that’s all that matters. Selim and Resat look sick.
Kerim and Fatma leave to meet Munir. She gets a call from Rahmi, who in spite of what he told Kadir, he tells Fatma he’s in the hospital. Anyway, he lets Fatma know that Kadir told him the Yasarans are using him to blackmail her. Fatma says it’s true, but don’t worry, I’m getting you out of there. Rahmi says don’t do it. They did a terrible thing to you, don’t let them win. Don’t give up. Don’t worry, I’ll be okay. I’ll serve my sentence but I’ll die if you give up. Please do this for me. Don’t give up.
Munir leaves the courthouse as Kerim and Fatma arrive. We hear Munir on the phone, the charges were dropped. He comes face to face with Fatma and Kerim and tells Fatma she made the best choice for her brother and herself. Now we will go inside and you will talk to the prosecutor and give him your statement. You will give up your claim and your brother will go free. Let’s go. I won’t give up, Fatma says defiantly. You can’t silence me. A shock to both Kerim and Munir.
Erdo is being discharged. He stops in Nil’s office. He says seeing her everyday helped him recover. But now I’m going home. What will happen if I get worse, will you come to take care of me? No, Nil replies. Closing the doors as always, he says. What can I do to make you believe me? Do I have to die? You have nothing to do because I know you very well now, Nil says. You are a man who lies easily and actually you can’t live without lying. Erdo tells her you can think what you want, I won’t bother you anymore.
Before he goes, she says, I know about your deal with Fatmagul. What deal, he asks? Don’t try to fool me, she says, Kerim told me everything. Erdo sits down. Kerim was here? Yes, he came to me because he was afraid he would kill you. You said you would not press charges just to impress me, but it was just part of a deal.
Erdo is ticked. Is that what he told you? You don’t believe me but you believe Kerim and Fatma and the press. If this is part of a deal, tell me, why do they continue their claim? Check if you want. I’m not pressing charges even though I almost died. But that witch Fatmagul continues with her slander. He leaves.
Rahmi comes home and Murat runs to greet him. Muka and Fatma greet him. Rahmi goes inside and holds Elif. Very happy homecoming.
Cut: Meryem and Kadir are in the kitchen. He tells her Humeyra called and she says hello. He says he speaks with her almost every day. Her mind is here now, with us. She is expecting to hear good news. Meryem can hardly look at Kadir. Fatma walks into the kitchen. Meryem says of course, she (Humeyra) was worried about Rahmi. Fatma came for water, she takes it and quickly goes. Kadir looks at Meryem and it looks like he’s lost his nerve to finish the conversation with Meryem. Meryem looks like she dodged a bullet.
Dinner is served in honor of Rahmi’s return. While Fatma is away from the table, the convo turns to why the Yasarans dropped the charges. Fatma comes back and the convo is dropped. Omer asks Kadir if he has plans for New Year’s Eve. No, but maybe we can make some, Kadir replies. Muka gives Meryem that dirty mind smile.
Music plays and Muka wants to dance with Rahmi. He declines because he is still bothered by shingles. Rahmi suggests that Fatma and Kerim should dance. Fatma gets shy. Muka prods, maybe if you do it, others might want to get up, too. [hint to Meryem and Kadir] Kerim waits for Fatma’s response and she nods. They dance and gaze into each other’s eyes. Very sweet. [Why do they cut this?] That’s when Fatma’s phone rings and interrupts the romantic interlude. End cuts.
It's Erdo calling. Congratulations, your brother returned. It’s not necessary to thank me, but don’t forget this favor. Fatma asks, what are you talking about, you loser? He answers, now you can wear that wedding gown hanging in your armoire. Fatma gasps, what?! Kerim grabs the phone. Erdo hangs up. Kerim asks who was that? Him… Erdogan. Kerim goes to call back and Kadir and Omer rush to take the phone.
What did he tell you, Kerim asks? He said now I can wear the wedding dress in my armoire. He knows I have a wedding dress in my armoire! Everyone is stunned. Meryem realizes that it was the night they found Erdo’s car nearby. Kerim goes nuts. Muka says he probably touched the dress, too. Fatma looks ill. Kerim shouts he’s going to kill Erdo and Omer and Kadir sit him down and tell him to calm down.
Kerim shouts, don’t tell me to be calm anymore! That maldito entered the house and he dared to touch Fatma’s wedding dress! He also touched our lives, he touched my life! Kerim bursts into Fatma’s room and takes the wedding dress from the armoire. He starts to rip it apart, only stopping when he sees Fatma at the door. That was the end of Turkish ep 56.
The calm after the storm. Fatma sits at the table and looks at her dress in pieces on her floor. Kerim says, [Turkish] They did it again. Our hands are tied. Damn it. I feel so powerless.
Kadir sees Omer out. He tells him we should go to the prosecutor first thing. Omer agrees and says they should get Fatma’s phone tapped and he tells Kadir to keep an eye on Kerim.
Fatma can’t keep her eyes off the dress. Kerim looks ashamed. Meryem goes to Fatma’s room and gathers it up. Muka says you’re throwing it out? Good, he put his hands on it. Kerim goes downstairs to see how Erdo might have come in. Rahmi and Kadir go with him.
Erdo erases calls from his phone. He goes downstairs and overhears about the plot Resat concocted with Mustafa to have him take the fall for everything that went down. Erdo walks away without being noticed.
Rahmi helps to construct a timeline and they realize that Erdo must have been there for most of the day. Kerim is able to break into the lower level door and they figure this is how Erdo got in. Kerim realizes that Erdo could have heard what they were talking about from in there. Kadir calls the police.
Kerim wonders if Erdo heard about the phone call that said Mustafa killed Vural and about the letter Hacer wrote to his father. That’s why he said, “we used to be friends and now they want to make us enemies.”
Fatma has a bucket and she’s washing down the armoire. There goes any chance of fingerprints. Meryem says it had been wiped before anyway. Fatma furiously scrubs away.
Kerim curses himself. He tells Fatma, they hurt you again. And again, I did nothing. [Turkish] This is who I am Fatmagul. An imprudent, incapable man. Fatma says there’s nothing you need to do. The court will take care of this. They can’t escape.
Hilmiye tells Erdo she can’t continue living there. Let’s rent something. Erdo says they aren’t going anywhere. I don’t like looking at their faces but I have to do it. I need to keep my eyes on them. He tells her to settle things with Peri. Don’t fight on his account. She only did what she thought was right. She probably did it because she had no choice. Munir, Resat and Selim are the evil trio. It’s them we need to be careful with. What happened, Hilmiye asks, do you know something? No, Erdo replies, but you never know when they will do something to hurt us.
The cops are investigating at Kadir’s. Kerim won’t leave the cops alone. Kadir sends him upstairs.
Fatma continues to scrub her room. Meryem says let her do it if it makes her feel better. Fatma tells Kerim to stay out, she’s cleaning otherwise she won’t be able to touch anything. He suggests they go to the country house. Fatma says you want to escape again? Kerim replies, no matter how you clean, the stains they left on our lives are not cleaned. Don’t bother yourself. It’s not worth it.
You are telling this to me, she asks? Are you giving up? Tell me what I am supposed to do, he says. Tell me how I should punish them? You won’t punish them, she answers. Until now, they have been able to defend themselves, he says, they always win. They speak and I’m silent. They attack us and I get stopped. [Turkish] They have my hands tied and I am desperate.
She tells him to calm down. Weren’t you the one who told me not to give up? To keep fighting for what I deserve? Why did you change your mind? Look at me, she says, how can I keep fighting without your support, Kerim? I understand your impatience and your fatigue. But imagine how I must feel. No one has a heavy burden like mine. It’s hard but I have no choice. Besides, I am convinced that this burden will get lighter. That’s why I don’t stop. There is hope, she reminds him. The day will come when everything will be fine. Don’t let your anger get in the way. No matter how tired you are, keep hoping… for me…. for us. We have a lot to fight for, she tells him. We will overcome it together.
Fatma is at therapy. She says, at first I was devastated. I felt everything around me was tainted. Everything I saw and touched was dirty. And like Kerim said, they touched me with their dirty hands again. Both of us. We see Kerim in the session, too.
Kerim says they listened to our complaint, but he (Erdo) denied it at the prosecutor’s office.
We see Erdo’s testimony. I won’t deny I called but I didn’t do it with bad intentions. I even withdrew my complaint against Rahmi Ketenci to show my good intentions. I only wished her well and hoped she would understand and stop the slander.
Fatma says we couldn’t prove he broke into the house. He got away with it again. The feeling that you are not even safe in your own house is terrible. (we see locks being changed and cameras installed at Kadir’s house.) That’s when I realized how vulnerable I was. But it didn’t last long. It faded because I knew that’s how they wanted me to feel. Fatma feels a little guilty about the trouble and expense to make sure she feels safe.
Cut: Kerim didn’t start his new job because he didn’t want to leave Fatma. She feels like she is holding him back. He says he doesn’t mind spending the time with her. He asks her if she does. She smiles and says no. Fatma says that Kerim was helpful at the restaurant, he got them 3 new customers. We see Kerim and Kadir helping to complete the orders for New Year’s. Therapist asks about Rahmi. He is still nervous and mostly stays home. Murat is back in school and getting along with his friends. End cut.
Fatma says she will meet Ozge today. Therapist asks if she knows Fatma is coming. Yes. We are going right from here. Kerim doesn’t think it’s a good idea. Fatma says she wants to help her. What could be bad? Seeing her might not be good for you, he replies. It won’t be easy. You will see your own scars on her and feel them again. Fatma says, our wounds have never healed, Kerim. Therapist makes a note of “our”. Don’t we feel the pain anyway, she asks? Who knows? Maybe I can help her. [Turkish] Maybe she will help us as well.
Therapist wants to talk about the wedding dress. Will you buy a new one? Of course, Kerim replies. When we decide our wedding date. Fatmagul will have a new dress, clean, pure and white. Fatma smiles at Kerim.
Fatma and Kerim have something to drink after the session. She says this is the first time they spoke about the dress. She admits it hurt her when he gave it to her. But then she got accustomed to seeing it hanging in the armoire. It was like opening the armoire to view our dream. I was patiently waiting.
Kerim apologizes. The thought of him (Erdo) touching that dress drove me crazy and I lost control. She says don’t worry about the dress. But she will keep the new one in a safer place. Maybe in a safe. Kerim says it won’t wait in an armoire. It will be on you when you say you’re ready.
Meryem is at the bank and she runs into Kadir. She says she is there to pay the rent for the restaurant. But we and Kadir hear that she is taking out a loan. She needed some things for the restaurant. Kadir asks why didn’t she tell him? He could have gotten it for her. She says she’s been approved and it’s a good interest rate. That’s not what he meant. Kadir is upset she didn’t share this problem with him. He says he will wait for her outside.
Kadir gets a call from Omer. Security cameras captured Erdo following Fatma. Kadir goes back into the bank and gives Meryem the good news. Meryem is overjoyed and practically leaps on him with her arms around his neck and she doesn’t let go! He drops his briefcase and looks overwhelmed.
Cut: Hacer gets an ultrasound. Musto and Halide are with her. The baby is 19 weeks and looking good. Halide is excited. Musto looks stunned and can’t take his eyes off the baby. They find out the baby is a boy. The doctor asks if they have thought of names yet.
Musto flashes back. Muka has had her baby and Fatma and Musto visit in the hospital. Musto asks what is the baby’s name? Rahmi says they hadn’t decided. What about after my father, Mehmet, he tells Muka. No, she decides to name the baby Murat. Fatma is disappointed. She tells Muka that was the name we were planning to name our son and she knew that.
Muka says, you’re not even married yet and you can’t reserve a name. Musto gives Fatma a little kiss on the cheek and tells her it doesn't matter. He will reach his happiness (Murat means happiness) when Fatma becomes his wife. Back in the present, Musto suggests the name Murat. Hacer likes it. She has no idea why he picked that name but Halide does. End cut.
Fatma and Kerim walk to their truck and Kerim checks his messages. They found videos of Erdogan following you, he tells Fatma. Kerim calls and Meryem confirms. They are getting an order from a judge to review the footage.
The guy tailing Musto sees Erdogan walking into the clinic where Hacer’s ultrasound is. He reports to Yasar. Erdo waits in the lobby and Musto comes out. Erdo says he’s there visiting a friend who just had a baby. Musto sends Hacer and Halide to wait for him in the car.
Are you following me, Musto asks? No, you didn’t give me the chance to talk to you so I came here, Erdo replies. I heard you were following me on the day Rahmi hit me. Resat put you to follow me, right? Musto denies it. Erdo asks, are you going to tell me you weren’t part of the plan to save Selim’s rear end? He gave you the order, right?
Don’t be ridiculous, Musto replies. How could you think I’d do something like that? Get away from me. Musto leaves and Erdo follows. Musto asks is this a new game the Yasarans are playing? Erdo presses Musto to tell the truth. Erdo flashes Musto and Hacer’s passports. Tell me what you know and I’ll return them. Hacer calls Musto to come. He looks at the guy who’s tailing him. He tells Erdo, I’m in deep trouble already. Don’t try to pull me into a new game. If you have trouble with your family sort it out yourself. Musto leaves.
Erdo stops by the guy tailing Musto and says give my regards to Resat Yasaran.
Fatma and Kerim arrive at Ozge’s house. Nurdan has two cute granddaughters. One of them says she wants to sit with Fatmagul. Nalan takes the children out of the room and Nurdan goes to get Ozge. Ozge slowly walks into the room with her mother but stops when she sees Kerim. She looks frightened and Kerim says he will wait in the car.
Fatma tells Ozge she came here for her, to help her. Ozge just stares blankly at Fatma.
Please don’t look at me like I’m a stranger, Fatma says. Ozge takes Fatma’s hands. You know me very well, Fatma tells her, and I know you. We know better than anyone. We are the same.
Kerim thinks back to finding Fatma on the beach that day she was going to cut her wrists.
Hilmiye comes downstairs looking for Peri. She’s in the living room the housekeeper says. At the same time, the housekeeper gives Peri the phone, Nil wants to talk to her. Hilmiye listens. Nil says she will come to the house today to check on her. We will start therapy if the results are good.
When the call is over Peri calls Hilmiye over and tells her Nil is coming later. Let Erdo know in case he doesn’t want to see her. I don’t want to upset him. As if you care, Hilmiye says. I wouldn’t stay here a minute more if Erdo let me. This time you betrayed him and not his uncle. He could have been free now. But Fatmagul’s curse is still on us because of you.
Peri reminds Hilmiye that Fatma is the victim here. It’s our sons’ curse we are dealing with now. They are our children but they have become criminals. And they are trying to place their guilt on that poor innocent girl. As a mother and a woman, if your conscience accepts this, I have nothing more to say to you. Hilmiye leaves the room.
Omer, Kadir and Meryem watch the security footage. Erdo is about 7 or 8 seconds behind Fatma. A few seconds afterwards, Meryem spots Mustafa following too.
Fatma tells Ozge we have nothing to be ashamed about. Why should we be silent? They get away with it if we remain silent. Ozge sits silent and still gazing downward. Fatma tells her she has to speak. Tell us who hurt you so he can receive his punishment. Ozge cries silent tears. She looks at Fatma. If you don’t tell us, it’s probable this monster will hurt another woman, Fatma says. You locked yourself in the house and quit school because of him.
Nurdan says listen to what Fatma is saying, look how she confronts injustice. Fatma says she wasn’t always like this. I thought my life was over. I had nothing left to expect… no hopes. But I discovered there is always hope. Hope won’t find us if we stay hidden in a corner. You have to fight for it. When I decided to fight, I felt much stronger. Please don’t do this. Your family is worried.
Nurdan says Ozge knows we want the best for her. After her father died, we moved into this house. They received us with open arms. We thank God for them. Ozge stares at Fatma and continues to silently cry. Nurdan says, Nalan and I used to work but after the incident we quit working, not to leave Ozge alone. Besides, Nalan has two children. My son in law provides for all of us. God bless him, he is an angel. He never complains and works hard to provide for us. Ozge just stares at Fatma and keeps crying.
And we are out.
Thank you Juanita for the nice comments. My head is spinning too!
I think Hazar’s dream/memory is partially correct because Mehmet was shot in the arm by someone. As for the Who? Could Azize be talking about Hanife? Her last thought at Aslan’s house was, “why are you showing mercy to the enemy?” Whoever it is has Azize well monitored because in the flashback at the cemetery when she orders Dilsah’s headstone to be destroyed, she is also clear in saying and “removed.” Someone found that dumpster and pulled out the “Di” piece.
I thought that Harun was returning from taking Hanife to see Aslan, but she wasn’t with him, unless he dropped her off on a side street. You might be right that Aslan sent him to drive Reyyan out to the cliff/river.
I listened again to Aslan driving in the truck and he definitely did not hear Miran tell him about the notes. I totally agree with you that Azat deserves someone much better than Gonul.
BTW Juanita, there were several scenes cut out by Telemundo, but I will wait to read your recap and see if they get spliced into the episode tonight before I add them.
VVS....wait ! What? This show just keeps getting more and more bizarre. As Mir is dangling over the cliff holding onto Aslan's hand, he decides he should pull his gun ????? And then As a tells Mr.Robot to shoot Mir ????? Yikes .
Mir is later bleeding anD groaning lying next to those flowers he and Rey planted ????
And then , the ambulance carrying Zebra ( HEY...my tablet keeps changing Zehra to Zebra so I am just going with it) and Hazer rolls over . Yikes !
Where do we go from here?
Susanlynn, it sure is crazy! Zebra works for me! Azize shooting Miran was a surprise too. Guess she knows he is a lost cause and now is just out to save Aslan. Where do we go from here is a great question! The writers sure took a turn and tumble, not just with the ambulance, in the storyline.
Dear Dondi, thank you so much for that fantastic recap of a disturbing episode . The writers certainly are not sugar coating the process that these folks are going through to recover after that awful night . I appreciate the details and words that were spoken since I only have the visual clues of what is happening . I didn't realize that Peri forced Munir to withdraw the charges against Rahmi. Woman power .
Poor Fatmagul was pulled between Muka 's demands and Kerim and Meryem who love her but don't think she should give up her fight . She has already been through so much, and She is amazingly strong .
More later...have to dash .
Wow episode and wow recap, VVS! Great asides. “water proof ink on waterproof paper”. Thanks so much.
Now we know more about what happened that night. But not everything. What does Nasuh have to do with this? What is his secret about that night? Why did he tell Cihan he shot Mehmet and why did he tell Zehra that Hazar shot him?
If the fire that happened years before, was Azize’s true motivation for revenge? Was she plotting anything before the Mehmet/Dilsah/Hazar incident? What made her decide to use this as a cover? She is really twisted.
“I know who you are! (Who? Who??)” I guess that’s the next big reveal.
“(I give Miran the large avocado award for that little stunt, if he survives that is)” of course he will survive and I’m giving him a rotten tomato instead. I wish I could care more about Miran and I sort of feel bad about that. ReyMir’s weird marriage is ridiculous. I’m in this for the mystery and the crazy twists and turns.
I laughed at "The Girl Scout Reyyan” fishing Miran out of the water. Looked like she was ready to throw him over her shoulder and carry him away. I guess she learned those campfire skills from Miran.
About Nasuh’s solo trips, I remember reading the actor had covid and was hospitalized.
carmella will get her wish, Azat and Gonul. Now that Elif is gone, I can see that working.
I hope Zehra’s baby is okay. Wonder if they brought her back to kill her off. Probably not.
Wow, wow, wow! Great recap VVS! Great reveals! And what a EXCELLENT job you did of summarizing it all! I’m still in a head spin about how Mehmet came to the conclusion that Dilsah and Hazar loved one another? Did he come to that conclusion before or after he shot them, and shot them anyway? And then the appearance of little Mahmoud, which filled in some necessary blanks. I guess Mahmoud turned out to be the only son that she has left alive! Azize can’t see that it’s been her actions that have caused so much hurt and tragedy! She is a massive wasteland of hate and mayhem, and is paying for her sins without even realizing it!
I was shocked——but maybe not so much—— how she turned on Miran without hesitation. And who does she think is behind those notes when we know it Aslan? I wonder how she’s gonna feel when she discovers it is him? Her only two grandchildren left despise her and we all know that the Sadoglus were never a real threat to the Aslanbeys——just a tale she weaved to target Nasuh and Hazar. She hates Nasuh, but it seems like she hates Hazar even more with him being MIran’s father. How is she planning to kill Hazar now that she -believes- Miran will be out of the way? And yes, Reyyan was the ultimate Girl Scout, saving her man and getting him to safety. Can’t wait to see the look on Azize’s face when they pop up, lol.
I agree that Gonul doesn’t deserve Azat, and it wasn't really “my wish” that they get together. I just saw sparks between them way back when Azat kidnapped Gonul and figured that since they were both rejected by the people they loved, that they could heal each other’s wounds. Gonul hasn’t come into acceptance yet, regarding Miran, and maybe she never will, but she will have no choice but to move on.
What I’m really curious about is Cihan? What is he doing???? I don’t understand why he’s thrown himself into the middle of all this. Like what’s his goal? I understood him better when he and Hazar were working together, but now he’s gone off all rogue like. He needs to stay home with Handan’s nutty azz, and go about getting his lunatic daughter some help! I must say, Harun has turned out to be a big disappointment!
And inasmuch as Zehra rubs me, I hope the baby will be okay. It’s looking more and more like Dilsah might be alive, so Zehra needs to get wifey game on. I do find her ex to be a good looking man too, though. It’ll be interesting…….
Thanks again VVS! Great recap!
Excellent comments and questions dondi356 and carmella!
dondi356, I know that Miran is your rotten tomato and that made me laugh. I still have high hopes for his maturity growth and it was pretty gutsy of him to pull a pistol on Aslan as he dangled there, just saying. 😊 Thanks for the Nasuh/Actor update. It makes sense now. I wonder if his trips away will mean anything for the storyline. Why he has told two separate stories about that night is definitely confusing.
carmella, that whole scene with Mehmet was totally confusing. How did he find out about the long-term lovers? Now we know, Azize kept it from him. Could Nasuh have inserted himself to tell Mehmet? I hope the Azize venganza story gets a bit clearer. We think she hates Nasuh because he abandoned her after the fire, because she has to be Ayse, but why does she hate Hazar so much? Thanks for bringing up Cihan. He is definitely trying to prove himself by killing Miran for his daddy’s honor. I have never really trusted him. I think he could go rouge and join the dark side at any moment. I think Mahfuz is pretty good looking too. Not as handsome as the master jewelers son, but handsome.
Dondi thank you for another fantastic detailed recap!
This episode made me crazy. Pretty much everyone except Fatma and Rhami pissed me off! You don't pressure a victim to do what you want them to do! I understand that unlike Muka who has horrible manipulative intentions, Keeim and Meryem have good intentions but still their behavior was hard to watch and telling Fatma that if she gives up she will be destroying their future (Kerim) or that she will be a coward who is betraying everyone who believes in her (Meryem) was horrible!! Even if they only want what is best for her it's still an awful and manipulative way to express it.
The contrast you do see though between Kerim and Muka is interesting. Fatma continuing her case could have consequences for both of them. Where Muka is selfish and desperate to see her drop the charges, Kerim is selfless and desperate to see her succeed come what may!
I never thought a Yeseran would be the episode hero but Peri was this time!!! 'Peri reminds Hilmiye that Fatma is the victim here. It’s our sons’ curse we are dealing with now. They are our children but they have become criminals.' So awesome!!!!
This sounds ominous: 'My son in law provides for all of us. God bless him, he is an angel. He never complains and works hard to provide for us.' I don't know why but I got a bad feeling when I heard that description.
That Erdo still can still work up the nerve to slander Fatma and call her names after everything he has done to her is repulsive!
VVS;

I feel next and last season....rolling in with the mysterious SOMEBODY OR TWO!!
HalimaCandy, your comments always give me a chuckle. We definitely have everything AND the Kitchen Sink going on right now. We have a lot of reveals still left to go.
Hercai2: #40 - p 1 of 3
As the episode opens, we see the ambulance upright but clearly battered. Zehra is conscious. She calls for Hazar, who is slumped over with his eyes closed. She tells him to open his eyes. He does. Then Zehra notices that the nurse, who is lying on the ambulance floor, is moving. Hazar goes over to her. She tells him not to move her, but to walk to the road and find help. Zehra is frightened. She pleads with Hazar not to leave her. Slowly, he helps her out of the ambulance.
Azize is at Aslan's. She gets a phone call from Mahmoud. He tells her that he found Miran and Reyyan, but Cihan and his men were nearby. Mahmoud asks, "Should I let them kill Miran or should I do it?" Azize replies carefully, "No, let them take care of it. What you've told me makes me very happy. Have one of your men follow them and lend support. Keep me informed." Aslan asks whether they're OK? Azize replies, Yes, he found them, they're safe. The lovers are safe."
We then see Reyyan leading the wounded Miran. He tells her to go. She won't. Then she spots a horse. She's thrilled. "We're saved!"
Azize is about to leave Aslan's. She tells him she's going to see Miran and Reyyan. "We'll tell them the truth. They'll understand." Aslan replies, "That's impossible." Azize tells him, "I can't let either of you try to kill the other." Aslan is angry. "I did all you wanted. I burned the photos and put Reyyan out of my mind. But if you do anything more, you'll lose me." Azize seems to agree to his demand. "However," she warns him, "if you confront Miran one more time, I'll have to tell him everything. I don't want to lose another loved one."
Mahfouz is thankful that Reyyan is alive. Thinking of Reyyan, he says, "I won't make another mistake. I won't let Azize get near you."
Cihan finds dried blood. He senses that he's getting close. He sends his two men in different directions to see whether they can spot Reyyan and Miran.
Meanwhile, Handan is in a good mood. Her father-in-law is away. Her brother-in-law and his wife are away. She receives a phone call from a friend who wants to come see her new baby. She's delighted. She orders Seyda to make a grand spread. Yaren tells her she's not going to be there. Handan replies, "If you don't appear, no one will come to see you when you have a baby." Yaren gleefully tells her that she won't have a problem. Handan looks at her. "What? Do you mean you've never....?" "Never!" replies Yaren. Handan is clearly upset. Yaren is exultant: "Why didn't I realize this before? Now that she knows, she'll make me get a divorce!"
Mahfouz tells Harun that Aslan wants to see Hanife right away. We then see Mahfouz and Aslan talking. Aslan says he wants to uncover the real reason for the old venganza. "I'm afraid of what my abuela could do if this goes on much longer." Mahfouz asks him, "Are you sure the gunshot came from her?" "I am," Aslan replies. Nahfouz says, "I assume you know how risky it is for Miran to be near you." Aslan replies, "Soon we'll know my abuela's secrets. Then we'll have nothing to worry about." "I hope so," Mahfouz responds somewhat doubtfully.
Sukran calls Azize and tells her that she's right. "If my grandson is in danger, I should be with him." Azize tells her she has made the right decision. [Oops.] "I'll send Mahmoud to get you in the morning." After the call ends, Azize says, "Yes, of course you'll come. But not to the mansion, but to your grandson's funeral."
Reyyan manages to put Miran on the horse she has found. He's bleeding a lot. Then she spots a village. Her hopes rise.
Hercai2: #40 - p 2 of 3
Aslan meets with Hanife. He tells her, "I want to understand what has happened in the past. What is the secret of my abuela? What is the source of the venganza?" Hanife tells him she has written him a letter explaining everything. She'll give it to him, but she wants something in return: a new life. She says that even her sister abandoned her. She doesn't trust anyone. Mahfouz opposes Hanife's offer, but Aslan tells her he'll give her what she wants. He tells Mahfouz to prepare everything Hanife will need for her new life. Hanife's phone rings. It's Azize. "My sister wants to see me," Hanife says. "I want to say goodbye to her." She leaves without giving Aslan the letter she claims to have written.
Reyyan and Miran arrive at the village. Reyyan calls out, "Can anyone hear me? Help! My husband is wounded." There is no reply. Leaving Miran draped over the horse, she tells him to stay here, she'll go for help. She then starts banging on doors. Eventually, she realizes that there's no one there. She goes back and sees that the horse is gone. Miran is slumped against a wall, seemingly unconscious. She gets him up and slowly manages to walk with him.
Meanwhile, Cihan continues his pursuit. One of the men reports finding a bloody bandage made from red patterned cloth--Reyyan's dress. Cihan is pleased. "Let's go," he says. "Just you wait, Miran, I'm going to kill you."
Like Reyyan and Miran, Hazar and Zehra are moving very slowly. She tells him she can't go any further. "Don't let anything happen to my baby! I can't go another step." Hazar tries to encourage her to keep going so they can reach the road. She can't.
Reyyan finds an empty house with a mattress. She puts Miran on the mattress. He says he's cold. She feels his head and realizes that he has a fever. With difficulty, she gets his bloody shirt off. Then Super Girl Scout Reyyan [thanks VVS] somehow starts a fire to keep him warm. She picks up his clothes, and his wallet falls out. She starts looking through it. I saw what looked like one of Aslan's light green notes, but she instead finds a small photo of Miran and her, possibly a wedding photo. She remembers his pushing her on the swing and saying that if she falls, he'll jump after her and they'll fall together. She thinks, "You gave me hope because you never let me go." In the present, Miran calls out "Reyyan." She tells him she's here with him and always will be. She talks about how happy they'll be, and they'll get gray and have children (probably not in that order). "We'll take them to a swing. One of them will say, "Push harder, Daddy. I want to touch the sky." [OK, folks, you get the idea. There's lots of this, plus flashbacks.] She kisses him and tells him that first, he has to get better. She then tells him she has to go find food and then she'll be back.
Hanife meets with Azize at the country house. She wants to know why they're meeting there, rather than at the ruins as usual. Azize informs her that no one is there. Nasuh and Yusuf are away on business. Then Mahmoud takes out his pistol and cocks it. Hanife looks panicked. However, he uses the pistol to break the lock on the gate. Azize invites Hanife to enter. The three of them enter. As Azize walks toward the country house, she remembers a conversation from her past between Ayse and Nasuh. "What is this?" Ayse asks. "Hawthorne sprouts," replies Nasuh. "I bought them so their roots can become entangled underground like our hearts have. Let's plant them together. These sprouts are the proof ouf our love for each other. And when we grow old together and then leave the world, they will remain, my Ayse." Ayse asks: "Does that mean you'll love me until you die?"
Hercai2: #40 - p 3 of 3
Nasuh replies: "Loving you will add years to my life. I will live for our love, my Ayse."
Azize and the others continue to walk. A short amount of time goes by, which seems to suggest that what follows is not part of the conversation between Ayse and Nasuh. What seems like a different, younger female voice asks, "Are we going shopping for the fiestas?" This is followed by someone urgently saying, "Meset, come here!" Azize starts to speak: "There's so much pain trapped in this place. These arid lands contain the voices of the ones we loved. So many childhood memories disappeared in the pain of that fire. [Hanife looks away, pained.] They caused a tragedy that ruined our lives. And their betrayal led to our destruction, Hanife. You and I resisted, and now only the two of us are alive, crying for those who made us happy, and we never forget why we're alive. There's only one thing that hasn't changed, Hanife. The terrible pain and disappointment we feel when we've lost trust in the person we love most. I want to know why you betrayed me."
Zehra is screaming in pain. Hazar tells her, "The baby is coming! I can see her head!"
Mahfouz tells Aslan that he has opened an account for Hanife with enough money for her life. Aslan says they'll wait one day more.
Yaren accuses Azat of not really loving Reyyan, since he claims he's over her. Azat tells her he knows what she's trying to do, and she won't succeed. He gave up on Reyyan because she and Miran are in love. Yaren claims he's not thinking of his family. "Our family has a name and honor and pride," she says. He replies, "You speak of our family's honor and pride, but you said nothing when you knew what would happen to Reyyan." He tells her she's a disgrace to the family.
Yaren calls Gonul. We see a look of shock or disbelief on Gonul's face. "You're lying!" Gonul says. "Why would they run away when my abuela said they could marry?" She runs into Miran's room and finds a large photo propped up on the bed showing Miran and Reyyan together on horseback. Gonul then tries to call Miran, but she gets a "not available" response. "You ran away with her," she says to an absent Miran.
Hanife claims she did not betray Azize. Rather, "You betrayed me. I knew when you left me in the jail. I had to be rescued by my enemy." Azize claims "I only did that to protect you so you wouldn't be at risk." Hanife asks, "Did you think of me when you were planning on dying?" Azize says "I was going to leave you under the protection of my grandson." An indignant Hanife replies, "You would have left me as a servant. After all those years." Azize almost laughs at Hanife's protest. "Your complaint is that you wanted to be a lady? Is that what you think after the price I had to pay." Hanife says that she, too, had to pay. Azize replies, "You didn't burn in the flames, like I did. You didn't plan on betraying me, but you did. And what about your siblings? How could you betray their memory?"
Hanife sees Mahmoud's pistol within reach. She grabs it and points it at Azize. Azize tells her to put the gun down. Then Mahmoud and Azize try to grab the gun. The three of them struggle over it, and a shot is heard. We see three stunned faces as the episode ends.
Wonderful recap Juanita! And things are really moving along! It appears that we will have some important answers once Aslan reads the letter from Hanife! I sure hope so, and that it wasn’t a ruse by Hanife in order to use blackmail in the future. Sorry, but Hanife is on my “untrustworthy” list along with——-well, most of this cast! Lol! But it may look like Hanife got the worst end of that gun struggle, and won’t live to finally have a life of her own. Funny, but why does Azize think that Hanife’s been writing those notes? Isn’t it Aslan? Is Azize’s supersonic radar finally off? Every time I think that Azize can’t get any worse, she manages to surprise me. Her joy at Miran’s “impending” doom is disgusting and so very dark! Her soul is darker than black, and she must bleed crude oil. What a hateful, hateful woman she is!
Ok, so Harun has come up a notch in my eyes. He has not slept with witchey-poo, or dirtied himself by sharing bodily fluids with her! Yay! Sad thing tho, Yaren is so pretty. But the saying “pretty is as pretty does,” DEFINITELY does not apply to her! Handan is another one! Wasn’t she the one who called Zehra in hopes that she would return! Now she’s celebrating that she has the house to herself! Yeah, but where’s your man Handan?!?! Out playing cowboys and Indians when he should be having breakfast with ya!
And yes! Reyyan is really working those Girl Scout skills! She’s gotten the bleeding to stop, found her man a bed, undressed him, started a fire, and is now on the hunt for food! Go Reyyan, Go! All she needs now is a bow and arrow and there’ll be no stopping her!
So Mahfouz called Azize? Why? He knows Azize is untrustworthy? Aslan is up to something too——-beyond exposing Azize…
Thank you again Juanita! As always, much appreciated!!
JUANITA...FABULOUS RECAP
.OMG!! YES...TEAM ZEHRANI and the NEW BUMP ..I mean; Poor-baby
SADoglu are a part of the community/Ummah, they are well thought of ... have parties [Mehandi/henna]..baby welcome, dinners...etc.. Unlike the Aslan beys...who nobody approaches.....
HAG: too busy chasing /BURNING ..people out their homes[ Aylse]
BYE: HANIFE...Hope that letter makes it..to Aslan......gee-whizz!!
Many thanks, carmella and Halimacandy, for your terrific comments.
Carmella, I especially enjoyed your comments about the ever-resourceful Reyyan. I'm sure she must have earned a merit badge in Magic, and perhaps in Foraging and Bow-and-Arrow Shooting as well. And though I particularly liked your Reyyan comments, I thoroughly enjoyed so many others as well, such as "He has not slept with witchey-poo, or dirtied himself by sharing bodily fluids with her!" and your describing Cihan as out playing cowboys and Indians. However, I'm not at all confident that Aslan will get an explanatory letter from Hanife anytime soon, perhaps because she didn't send it in time (assuming she's the one who was shot at the end of last night's episode) or perhaps because she may not have written it at all. Like you, I don't have Hanife on my "to be trusted" list. (Admittedly, it's a very short list.)
Halimacandy, I always enjoy your comments, even when I don't agree with you. I'm most assuredly not on Team Zehra. She's not a bad person, but she often drives me up the wall. I do agree with your very interesting observation about the SADoglu vs. the Aslanbey: as you say, the SADoglu are part of a community, and they have parties and other celebrations, whereas the Aslanbey....
It looks as if the three of us all feel that Hanife is the one who was shot last night. Certainly in terms of the plot, it's too early for HAG to die, whereas Hanife's death or very serious injury might really delay Aslan's finding out the truth about the venganza, and that seems to fit right in with the way the dizi has proceeded.
Juanita, I am late to the party , but I wanted to thank you for a great recap of a wandering episode.
Yikes ...Looks like Zehra is about to deliver the baby in that field . Meanwhile , Rey managed to lift Mir onto that stray horse ...And she found a blanket and bridle for him .
Again with the " I am going to kill(fill in the blank here) " as Cihan announces to the night air " I am going to kill you Miran. "
I am hoping that Rey's biodad somehow gets proactive and finds Rey and Mir because Hacer is a little busy delivering the baby in that field right now so no help there.
Goodgran better be careful because Azz is getting crazier and crazier.
I am still confused about Aslan. Is he a good guy who just happened to become obsessed with Rey ? ...,or are his plans evil like his badgran's
Terrific recap Juanita! I started this early in the morning and the my choo choo got derailed with work. I did see that Telemundo spliced in scenes that I thought were cut out of the Monday epi. Not sure why they do this, as it makes the epi seem choppy.
I don’t have too much to add except to smile at Reyyan’s Girl Scout badges that she is going to earn from the Patio. Did anyone else see the bald guy who was hiding behind the fence near the place ReyMir found the horse? He wasn’t a shepherd, he was dressed in a suit. Must have been one of Mahmoud’s guys because there was no call the Cihan.
Hey, Reyyan stripped Miran down to his skivvies and didn’t blink an eye! I think we are making progress!
Add me to the list who think poor Hanife is a goner. Too bad, all for a misunderstanding on both sisters part.
Always enjoy your recaps Juanita! Thank you!
Thanks very much, Susanlynn and VVS, for your very interesting comments.
Susanlynn, yes, I guess if Reyyan can start fires just by wishing them into existence, Hazar can deliver a baby in the field. At least, I hope so. And I too hope Mahfouz will help save Reyyan and Miran. He was the one, after all, who let Azize know where to find them. He owes them bigtime. And I too am still very confused about Aslan.
VVS, Thanks for letting me know that Telemundo's missing scenes from Monday night turned up in Tuesday's episode. I wonder why they messed with the order. And no, I didn't notice or at least don't remember a bald guy in a suit hiding behind a fence. He doesn't sound like a typical thug. Perhaps he'll reappear in tonight's episode.
I do remember seeing him VVS. Just before Reyyan took the horse. I thought maybe he was going to follow them, but it didn’t happen and he didn’t call anyone. But as you were saying that Telemundo diced and spliced some scenes, maybe that was one of them? Either way Reymir doesn’t need anymore help getting into trouble, they seem to do fine all by themselves. And this is probably——still—— just the beginning of their troubles………l
I am way behind reading and commenting here. Was at work Tues and might have had time to comment had #$%&^& Google not forgotten me. For some reason I can't comment on Caray from work without changing my google password and all that BS! And have had some problems with my home computer as well, now solved.
I will read Juanita's recap later. VVS yours was a masterpiece! And you definitely filled in some things I missed. I always miss something really key! I couldn't figure out why Cihan was so hell-bent on killing Miran until I read what you wrote about one of his guys finding a note incriminating Nasuh. When I was watching Cihan and his guys stalking ReyMir I almost expected Reyyan to look back, a la Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid and say: "Who are those guys?"
Pfft! I have been in labor, and Zehra is OVER THE TOP! Am I a bad person for thinking maybe Dilsuh and Hazar can raise her baby after she expires?
Yep Nasuh seems to be off the hook for killing Mehmet.
While he waits for Fatma, Kerim calls Kadir. Meryem doesn’t want Kadir to tell him they spotted Musto on video but Omer says he will find out sooner or later. Kadir tells Kerim the videos were good, they can use them in court and adds that they saw Musto on the recording, too.
Musto packs. Hacer asks, does Serdar know you are coming? Musto says he will call him later. What are you going to tell your mother? It’s a business trip, he replies.
Musto gets a call from an angry Resat. Are you trying to play games with me? Are you going behind my back? Did you think I didn’t know you spoke with Erdo? Musto says Erdo came looking for him. He found out about your plans, he tells Resat. Resat answers, who do you think you are?
Musto continues, he has the passports. He offered me them in exchange for telling him your plans. I told him nothing. I denied it. Resat thinks Musto is lying. Musto assures him he is not. Resat checks his stash and finds Musto is telling the truth about the passports but continues to rant at Musto for being a traitor. Blah, blah, blah.
Erdo shows up and interrupts the call. I am ashamed to have the same blood as you, he tells Resat, you disgust me. I am ashamed you are my uncle. You wanted me to take the entire blame to save your poor son. You think I would allow that to happen? Erdo tosses the passports on the pool table. Resat says, shame on you.
Erdo turns that back around on Resat and Selim. Even Mustafa is more of a man compared to you. [I don’t know if I’d go that far] He could have accepted the passports and left but he didn’t betray you like you betrayed me. Take the passports and hide them in another place. But I’m keeping this. Erdo shows the flash drive with Musto’s confession. He tells Resat, you couldn’t use this anyway because if you do, you and your filthy reputation will end in a hell deeper than mine. Erdo leaves, Resat sighs.
Fatma writes her phone number for Ozge, who grabs is and crumples it tightly in her fist. Call me whenever you want, Fatma tells her. Please don’t stay silent. Ozge gazes downward. Fatma continues, [Turkish] your troubles won’t end if you speak out. They will begin because your fight will begin. Maybe you are afraid of this. Maybe you will feel tired or weaker, but don’t be afraid. Don’t fear anyone. He should be afraid. Let him suffer and hide.
Fatma says, all you hear are your own screams, I know. but if you don’t want to hear them anymore and you don’t want to see those images, you have to talk, Ozge. Ozge starts crying again. Let you enemy be afraid, let him be ashamed. Hold your head up. Look him in the eyes. Ozge starts to hyperventilate, and it sounds like she is stifling screams.
Nalan tells her mother, I told you she (Fatma) shouldn’t have come here. They can’t calm her down. Nalan asks Fatma to leave. Fatma leaves and Ozge goes to the window. She sees Kerim put his hand on Fatma’s back and she starts pounding on the window. Kerim and Fatma turn and he realizes right away what is happening. As soon as he removes his hand from Fatma, Ozge stops banging.
Later, we see Ozge curled up on her bed with Fatma’s number still clenched in her fist.
Fatma tells Kerim she wants to help Ozge. We have to help her, she says. Kerim says they should speak with the doctor.
Kerim tells Fatma that Mustafa was seen on the videos. Both he and Erdo were following her.
Musto calls Serdar and says he’s coming tomorrow and he will leave the same night. Halide enters the room and asks Musto where he is going. Business trip. Don’t fool me, Halide says, I know you want to escape. Why? Where did you get that idea, Musto asks? Halide figures he’s got problems with the Yasarans again. It wasn’t a coincidence that Erdogan Yasaran appeared.
Halide questions Musto’s line of work. He doesn’t go to an office. He mentions stocks. Are you gambling, she asks? Where does your money come from? Musto snarks, yeah, mom, I’m gambling. Halide asks if he stole money from the Yasarans. Is that why they won’t leave you alone? Musto is steamed. Why don’t you believe me?! Why don’t you trust me?!
Fatma checks in with Nurdan from Rose Kitchen. Ozge has gone to her bed and closed herself in her room. She won’t come out for dinner. Nurdan thinks it’s nice that Fatma called but Nalan thinks it was a mistake to let Fatma come to see Ozge. SIL Nihat says they have to do something for Ozge. Nurdan says treatment is expensive. Nihat says money is not important, Ozge’s health is. Nurdan thinks Nihat is wonderful.
Meryem arrives at the restaurant. She tells Fatma and Kerim that Erdo and Mustafa will be brought in for questioning.
Slight cut: Nil has come to check on Peri. She’s doing well. Selim sees Nil to the door. Resat tells Peri she won’t have to use a wheelchair anymore. Maybe Yadigar can come by and walk with her every day. Peri gets suspicious at this mention. Erdo is in the entryway as Nil gets ready to leave. He notes that Nil went abroad for New Year’s. Yep. She went to Rome with friends. He’s keeping tabs on her.
Selim opens the door and the cops walk up. Erdogan Yasaran? Fatmagul Ilgaz made a complaint, and we need a statement. Nil smirks as she leaves and Resat smiles.
Musto needs to leave but the Yasarans are still watching. Musto and Hacer see a police car pull up to the building and get alarmed. Musto thinks the Yasarans turned him in. He grabs his bag and coat and hauls ass out of the apartment building.
The police ring the doorbell and ask for Mustafa. Fatmagul Ilgaz filed a complaint. Halide asks what’s it about? Hacer says her husband left on a trip. The cops say security told them he hasn’t left the house. Hacer says that’s wrong, he left earlier. We see Musto grab a cab.
Fatma brings Kerim his dinner downstair. He tells her they got Erdo but they can’t find Musto anywhere. Kerim is disheartened. Fatma says, talk to me instead of the mirror. You wouldn’t want to hear, he replies. Fatma can guess. You are asking yourself “what was Mustafa doing there?” No, he says, [Turkish] I thinking what was that jerk doing there. Don’t say that scumbag’s name. He was so low as to help them trap you. Fatma responds, he isn’t any different to me than the others. Kerim asks why. She says, I don’t waste time thinking about him and you shouldn’t either. Please. [it’s nice how they take turns lifting each other up when things are going wrong]
Fatma leaves her room late at night. She heads to the kitchen and sees the light under the door. It’s weepy Kerim who is in there. Fatma thought it was Meryem. She asks him what’s wrong. He pours a glass of water and hesitates to answer. [Turkish] I can’t do anything, he tells her, I can’t protect you. All I can do is sit and wait. I couldn’t protect you back then either. Kerim, don’t do this, Fatma says. And I can’t protect you now, he tells her.
Kerim continues, that girl, Ozge, she knows our story. She gave me that look. As if I was one of the ones who hurt you. When I touched you, she pounded the window to protect you from me. Fatma says it wasn’t like that. Kerim says it was. I remember that look very well.
Fatma tells him, you are not that man for me anymore. There were two Kerims for me, the other died. Kerim scoffs, I am still that man, but now I love you. I love you a lot. He cries. Fatma says she knows and she reaches out and takes his hand.
Cut: Kadir doesn’t get home until very early the next morning. Meryem comes out of her room and they talk. Kadir tells her Erdo told the same old lies and Mustafa is nowhere to be found. Meryem says he must be tired. Kadir laughs and says he feels good. It was nice to see Erdo struggle. Meryem says she keeps praying for Galip Usta. It’s thanks to him we met you. Kadir replies he’s the one who should be praying for Galip. Thanks to him, I have a family. Meryem says we brought you big troubles. Kadir ignores that and tells her, now I have two children and I met you. Meryem wants to prepare a nice breakfast for him while he rests. [I love their scenes]
Cut: Fatma and Meryem are working at the restaurant. Fatma is telling her what happened during the night between her and Kerim. Fatma says, he cried like a baby. He cried and then he made me cry. We talked until almost morning. That’s nice, Meryem says. I couldn’t keep my eyes open anymore and said, “I’m going to bed.” Fatma tells her they didn’t hear Kadir come home. Meryem says she heard and got up. They chatted for a bit, then he went to bed. He’s a very good man, Meryem says.
Fatma asks if they spoke about what Humeyra said. Of course not, Meryem replies. It’s not the right time. We have enough to deal with. Fatma says Kadir came here on only 2 hours of sleep. Meryem says he woke up early to speak with Kerim. Fatma wonders if Kadir is hiding something from them. end cut
Kadir shows up at the market to speak with Kerim. It’s nothing bad, he says, I don’t know where to begin. Kerim is really curious. Kadir starts, you know my life was a disaster when we met. I had lost my wife and I lost my hope and will to fight. But you all came into my life and I’m glad you did. Thanks to you guys, I’ve become a new person. Kerim smiles and says, you have more problems now.
No, Kadir replies, those are small things that we can resolve together like family. I’m afraid you might misinterpret me, Kerim. But I’ve thought about this a lot. Believe me, this is not easy to tell you. I could never do this if it were someone else, but it is about Meryem. I even went to my ex-MIL to ask permission. So you want to talk to me about Meryem Abla, Kerim asks?
I… am in love with her, Kerim. I’m not taking advantage of the situation. Don’t get me wrong. That’s why I wanted to talk to you first before I talk to Meryem. If it is okay with you, I’d like to express my feelings to Meryem. And if she returns them, then I’m going to ask you for her hand.
Kerim smiles and Kadir asks, what do you say? Kerim says it’s the best thing he’s heard in a long time. You’re not upset, Kadir asks? How could I be upset, Kerim replies. You were like a father to me and now you will be my father. Kadir says we still don’t know what Meryem will say. Kerim says we should talk to her. We should, Kadir says. Kerim gives Kadir a big hug.
Fatma and Meryem talk about Ozge. Fatma mentioned her to the therapist, who I will call Neziye from now on. Fatma wishes Ogze would go to see Neziye.
Munir and Yasar show up at Musto’s. Halide answers the door. They want to speak with Hacer but she is not home. She didn’t take the car, she left on foot very early.
We see Hacer out and about. She calls Serdar and finds out Musto never made it to him. He waited at the airport, but he never showed, and his phone is off. Hacer says he might have missed the flight and is taking a bus. Serdar wonders why he wouldn’t have called Hacer. She BS’s about Halide not feeling well and he probably didn’t want to bother them.
Fatma calls Nurdan. We see the family sitting at the table. Ozge gets upset again when she hears it’s Fatma. Nurdan tells Fatma that Ozge hasn’t stopped crying and they had to give her a sedative. Fatma says her doctor wants to see Ozge and it’s good that she’s crying. It’s at least a reaction. Nalan tells her mother to hang up because Ozge is upset.
Muka is at the restaurant and she thinks Fatma shouldn’t meddle with those people. You made her worse, she says. Fatma says it was ok at first but at the end she got upset. And she was afraid of Kerim. Sure, Muka says, he’s a man. Poor girl. Meryem asks if Fatma said something that made Ozge react badly. I told her I was like her, that I know that she still hears those screams and that she needs to talk to quiet them. She should look her enemy in the eyes if she wants that scene out of her head. That’s when she broke down.
Muka says maybe it’s someone close that she sees every day. Fatma says she hasn’t left the house in two years. It’s only her mother and sister and the children. Is the sister married, Muka asks? Yes. And the BIL lives there? It’s the BIL, Muka asks?
Fatma calls again. Nalan answers. She is with Nurdan and they are in Ozge’s room. Nihat watches from the door. Nurdan puts the phone on Ozge’s ear. Fatma says, I think I know what happened. My enemies were outside my home but yours is in the house. Ozge answers, help me. Kerim and Kadir arrive at Rose Kitchen and Fatma says, Ozge spoke to me. A breakthrough.
Cut: Ozge keeps repeating help me. Nihat enters the room and Ozge starts throwing things at him. Ozge runs from the room. And finds more things to throw at Nihat. She finally yells, don’t ever touch me again! Ozge says he did it. Nurdan and Nalan are stunned.
Nihat starts shouting that Ozge is lying. Nurdan attacks Nihat. Ozge covers he ears and cries. Nihat continues to shout at her. Nalan is distraught. Nihat shouts for Ozge and Nurdan to leave. But it is Nurdan who pushes Nihat out the door. Nihat leaves and takes his daughters, who are playing outside, with him. Nurdan assures Ozge he will be punished.
Fatma, Kerim and Kadir are on their way to Ozge. Fatma calls Neziye and she is waiting for them. Kadir says let’s see if the girl wants help. Fatma thinks she will. We don’t know what we will find when we get there, Kadir says, maybe we will have to bring her to the hospital. Fatma wonders if the BIL is still there. Kerim doesn’t have much belief in what Muka has to say. But she asked for help when I asked if her attacker was in the house, Fatma replies.
Cut: Meryem and Muka at Rose Kitchen. Muka comments that Fatma shouldn’t bother with Ozge. It won’t be good for her. Muka spots the bouquet of flowers that Kadir left on the table. [remember he was going to speak with Meryem] Muka tells Meryem she saw Kadir holding them and they must be for her. What a pity he couldn’t deliver them because of strangers. Meryem scolds Muka for being so cold hearted towards those “strangers”.
Cut: Ozge recounts the attack. He came home early that day. She was already home from school and getting into the shower. Nalan covers her ears and says stop. He locked the door, Ozge says. He said he’d kill me if I screamed. I’ll kill you if you tell your sister. He beat me. I couldn’t stop him. Nalan can’t believe her husband would do this. Nalan accuses Ozge of lying. She must be protecting someone else. Nurdan goes to call the police. Nalan stops her. He’s the father of my children!
Nalan tells Kadir, you don’t know Nihat. He’s like a father to Ozge. Nalan calls Nihat. Where are you? He’s in the park with the kids, but he tells Nalan he’s in hell. Nalan says they are going to the police. Nihat threatens if that happens he won’t let her see the children again. I didn’t do it! She’s lying! Nalan says if it is slander, why don’t you come and defend yourself? He hangs up.
Ozge and her mother head with Fatma and co. to the police. Nurdan is blaming herself for not knowing what was happening. Kadir explains what will happen next and that they have their support You are not alone.
Hacer returns home through the “escape route” and Yasar grabs her. He says the Yasarans saved you from that life and they can send you back. He makes Hacer get in his car.
Mustafa calls home. He tells Halide he’s at the airport. He called to say goodbye. Halide begs him for the truth. What did you do? Who are you hiding from? Musto repeats the lie, it’s for business. I know you were fleeing from the police.
He asks Halide why Hacer’s phone is off. Halide says she’s not home, she left this morning and hasn’t returned. You brought me here and now you left me alone, she tells him. Musto says he will be back in a few days. Lies, Halide responds. Halide asks what did you do to Fatmagul? They said she made a complaint against you. He doesn’t know. Munir was here, too, she tells him. Have the cops come back, he asks? No. Tell Hacer I will call at 9 on the dot. He entrusts Hacer and his son to her. Take care.
Cut: we see where Mustafa really is. He’s at Fahrettin’s house in the woods.
Fatma and crew wait outside the prosecutor’s office. Ozge finishes with her statement. Nurdan says they are sending them to the hospital now. Fatma will have to cancel with Neziye.
Nihat is brought in to the prosecutor. Nurdan attacks him and has to be pulled off. Nalan tells her mother that Nihan confessed. The police made him talk. Nalan apologizes to Ozge. Kerim asks Fatma if she wants to wait elsewhere. No. Nalan asks Ozge why she didn’t tell them sooner. I couldn’t, Ozge replies. I was scared. Very scared. He threatened me. If I knew, Nalan tells her, I wouldn’t have let him stay. We would have gotten rid of him a long time ago. Forgive me. I am ashamed. The sisters hug.
Yasaran stuff. They sit around waiting for a meeting with a company that might partner with them and bail them out of debt. A man comes out and explains that there are new board members and this is their offer. He hands out folders. Resat says this isn’t what we previously spoke about. It’s a much lower number. Resat says he already had other offers that were higher than this one.
The man says the board thought about it and this is the best they can do now. If you accept this, the meeting can begin. The man goes to make a call. Selim asks, what do we do? Resat says they have no other option. Resat accepts and they go into the meeting. Look who the new board member is. It’s Ender.
Cut: Hacer is brought to Munir. He wants to know where Mustafa is. She has no idea. He saw the police and thought you turned him in, she says. He ran. Munir asks if she has any idea where he might have gone. Hacer mentions a friend in Ildir but she called him and Musto’s not there. He might be out of the country. Hacer says they got new passports.
Munir thinks he wouldn’t have left his pregnant wife. Hacer says Musto can only think of himself now because of what the Yasarans did to him. Munir tells Hacer she screwed them by writing to Kerim’s father, so she’s not innocent either. Hacer says all she’s thinking about now is her child. Musto left me with his sick mother. I am the victim of this battle, she says.
Ozge goes off to the hospital. Fatma assures her everything will be alright. Ozge still looks a little wary of Kerim. Ozge kisses Fatma’s hand and thanks her. They hug.
Dinner is being prepared. Kerim sees the bouquet of flowers on the table. He asks Meryem if she knows where Fatma is. Muka says she’s planting flowers. Meryem says she’s just trying to relax. Kerim asks where Kadir is. Downstairs. Muka says he locked himself in his room and she snarkliy wonders why. Kerim leaves. Muka tells Meryem, those flowers are for you. You didn’t say thank you, how rude. Meryem answers, how do you know they are for me?
They cut: Kadir practicing in front of the mirror what he will say to Meryem. [How cute.] Kerim opens the door. He thought Kadir was on the phone. No, Kadir says, I was just practicing my defense in a case.
Kerim tells Kadir that Meryem put the flowers on the table. Kadir is happy. Will you speak with her, Kerim asks? I don’t know, I’m too excited. I’m embarrassed to do it with so many people around. Maybe I’ll invite her to dinner and we will talk, what do you think? Is it a good idea? It’s up to you, Kerim replies.
Fatma enters the house with Murat.
Kadir says he doesn’t want to put it off any longer. He has to go to Izmir to add the camera footage to the case. Fatma sees Kerim talking to Kadir. She asks him what’s going on. Kadir says they are just chatting. Fatma is worried it’s something bad. Kerim says it’s just the opposite. Kadir stops him from saying more. Kerim says don’t you see she always expect bad news? Let her hear something good. Kadir hesitates and Kerim blurts, Kadir asked me permission to marry Meryem Abla. Fatma lets out a joyful gasp.
Muka has been lurking and hears it, too. She runs up the stairs and shouts for Meryem. Kerim runs up and Fatma tells Kadir to hurry. He looks so scared. Meryem asks Muka is it something bad? Muka asks why do you always expect bad news? Kerim tells Meryem that Kadir has to speak to her. Kadir sputters a bit then says, I’d like it if we could speak just the two of us.
No way, Muka says, this is the type of thing that you talk about with family. That’s the right way to do it. Meryem is clueless. Muka says it’s the thing that Humeyra told you. Fatma says, I’m so happy for you both. Kerim adds, me too. Poor Kadir is so embarrassed. Rahmi asks why everyone is so happy?
Fatma asks Meryem, what’s your answer? And Meryem replies, what’s the question? Kadir asks for Kerim’s help. Kerim starts, Abla, by the order of Allah and the words of the Prophet, Kadir Abi asked me for your hand in marriage!
Meryem gasps in surprise. [Turkish] Kadir says maybe I should have asked you first, but I couldn’t, so I talked to Kerim. But now that everyone knows about it, I guess you I should ask you now. Meryem Hanım, benimle evlenir misin? Will you marry me?
Fatma asks, what’s your answer. Meryem says she’s so surprised. Come on, Meryem, are you so surprised, Muka asks? After you saw the flowers, you knew what was going to happen. Don’t fool us. Kadir tells Meryem, it’s better if we go to dinner tonight and talk about it. Kerim says good idea. Fatma and Rahmi agree.
Meryem says she already made dinner tonight. Muka says we will eat it. Now you should get ready go to dinner in a romantic place, with candlelight. Meryem is still in shock and she goes downstairs to get ready. Kadir’s going to make a reservation at the best restaurant in the city. Fatma runs off to help Meryem. Meryem tells Fatma she’s so excited. She wasn’t expecting this at all. Not this soon. Her heart is beating fast. She takes Fatma’s hand and places it on her heart.
Meryem says she’s very excited and scared. They look through the closet for something to wear. What about make up? Hair? Meryem thinks that was so considerate Kadir spoke with Kerim first. Kerim didn’t say anything. They wanted to surprise me.
Of course Muka wants to be in on this, too. She comments that Meryem should wear her hair down. Fatma tells her, let’s leave Meryem so she can get ready alone. Elif cries and Rahmi calls and that’s the cue to leave. Muka advises Meryem to wear earrings and put on makeup. Doll up nicely tonight. Fatma and Muka leave.
Muka whispers to Fatma, how exciting for them, at this age. Fatma asks why does that matter? Muka says she doesn’t know but Kadir has her respect. Maybe they will have their wedding before you, she tells Fatma. They shouldn’t wait for you. I hope this helps you to be less reluctant. Now you are using the dress as an excuse. You’re good at finding excuses. At this rate, it will take you years to get married.
Meryem and Kadir head out and everyone watches them from the window. They get to the car, and [Turkish] Meryem says, yes. Excuse me, Kadir asks? My answer is “yes”, Kadir Bey. I would very much like you to be my husband. He takes her hand, Meryem Hanım, I can’t find the words to express my feelings right now. You gave me back my life. Thank you very much.
Kerim says at the window, I think she gave him her answer. Muka says she couldn’t wait until dinner. Kadir opens the car door for Meryem and gives a thumbs up that Kerim returns. Everyone is happy.
Muka tells Kerim and Fatma, learn from them. We expect to hear good news from you, too. Rahmi says, why do you wait? Do it soon. Muka asks how about a double wedding? No, Kerim says, we will have one just for us. He puts his arm around Fatma. She nods and smiles.
The mood is subdued at the Yasarans. Munir says Resat grew an empire from a small business. Together with Rifat, they made it big. I can’t believe what is happening. They tricked us good, Erdo says, I go crazy when I think about it. Selim says they did their research and what did we do? We accepted the deal. If we did the same we would have known about the new member. Now Ender got a hold of their business on the cheap.
Ender has dinner with Meltem and Gaye. They cut the beginning of this scene. Ender says she started plotting her revenge right after Turaner’s funeral. Blah, blah. They will evacuate the companies one by one, including the truck park.
Gaye asks if you are taking a ruined company, how did your company accept the deal? Ender says the wind energy project is still in the works, but they (Yasarans) didn’t know about it. Ender says the new company will develop it. We took Resat’s biggest dream. Meltem asks her mother if Mustafa can have a job. [good grief] Ender says we’ll see. Meltem hasn’t been able to get in touch with him anyway. They toast to their victory.
Hacer waits for Musto’s call. Halide wants the truth from Hacer. Hacer tells her there’s nothing to say. Musto calls and she goes to her room to take it. Hacer tells him that Yasar caught her today and took her to Munir. They want to know where you are. Halide gets up to listen by the door. Hacer asks, where are you? It’s better if you don’t know, he replies. Your mother is very upset, she tells him. She is suspicious and asks a lot of questions. Musto asks Hacer to treat her well. Yes, Hacer says, but for how long?
My mother told me Fatmagul filed a complaint, he says. Yes, it wasn’t what you were afraid of, Hacer replies. They saw you following Erdogan in a video. You escaped for nothing. Musto says it would have been hard to explain to the police anyway. What did Munir say, he asks, what do the Yasarans want from me now? Hacer has no idea.
Musto starts coughing. He’s sick from staying in the cold house. He tells her he will leave soon. She asks him to call her wherever he goes and he asks her to take care of his mother.
Fatma checks in with Nurdan. Ogze is sleeping. They gave her medication at the hospital. Fatma says she will call tomorrow. She tells Kerim that Ozge had a psychological exam and they are back home. Rahmi asks about the man. Kerim says he’s in custody. Muka asks about Nalan. Fatma says Nalan doesn’t talk much now.
Change of subject. Rahmi wonders how things are going with Meryem and Kadir. Muka says call them. He thinks about it but gets a look from Kerim and thinks twice to Muka’s dismay.
Cut: Kadir tells Meryem he’s mad at himself for waiting so long. We could have had this happy moment a while ago. Meryem says they had to wait for the right time. It allowed us to get to know each other better. Every day I saw an even more beautiful woman before me, Kadir tells her. Every word she said and everything about her had its own beauty.
Meryem says he is making her blush. Kadir wants to stop addressing each other so formally. Meryem says it’s just a habit. Did you tell Humeyra, she asks? He texted her but hasn’t heard back yet. She will be so happy, he says, she was dancing on air when I told her I was in love with you. She gave me the courage. If it wasn’t for her, I’d take years to confess my love. End cut.
Let me ask you, Meryem says, when did you realize that you were interested in me? When we had that dinner in Izmir. We had dinner together for the first time after we went to the prosecutor. Meryem remembers that night well. I discovered I had feelings for you, too. It was when I saw the tears in your eyes. It’s important that a man can cry with a woman present. Tears represent sincerity. It’s not important if it’s a man or a woman, he says, one only cries with those they trust. You take off your mask and pour out all you have kept in your heart.
The fact that we lived under the same roof for a long time helped, she says. They laugh. He says maybe that’s why I wanted you to move to my house. I wanted to get to know you better and let you get to know me. [Turkish] You have no idea how glad I am to see your smiling eyes and hear you say “good morning”. Knowing this, I close my eyes every night in peace.
Meryem says, you told me in Ildir that everything happens for a reason. You were right. That sad sound I heard when I asked your help for Kerim. If I hadn’t persisted so much and you didn’t have so much patience, we never would have met. Or go back further, he says, if you hadn’t found Fatmagul, we wouldn’t have met. One can’t help but believe in fate, Meryem tells him. Kadir takes her hand and says, now that I can feel your heartbeat in my hand, I believe in fate, luck and the stars.
Fatma is on the laptop, sending an email to Deniz. Kerim comes in with tea. Is there anything you want me to say to her, she asks Kerim. No, Kerim answers, I already spoke to her, but she keeps writing. Fatma says, what are you complaining about? Look how you are smiling. You miss your sister. Kerim replies, I guess so.
Fatma is done and Kerim gets back to work. He’s checking orders for the restaurant. Fatma asks what’s with the 14th? So many cake orders that day. Kerim reminds her it’s Valentine's Day. He says we should prepare those cakes the day before because… that day we will have our own celebration.
Cut: Meryem and Kadir return home holding hands. Kadir goes for his keys but Meryem knows better, don’t bother, they will open the door. With that, Muka opens up and everyone is standing there to greet the happy couple. Muka is dying to know what they spoke about at dinner. Meryem says Kadir is going to Izmir tomorrow and Kadir says he is adding the video to the case file.
Muka is disappointed. Kadir says you didn’t let me finish. When I come back we will have a ring ceremony with the family. Everyone applauds. Kerim wishes Meryem happiness always because she deserves it and he gives her the biggest hug. End cut.
Halide comes to the Yasaran house. She sees Hilmiye outside and starts crying and begging, I’m looking for my son! Please, where is he?! What have you done with my son?! She collapses.
Meanwhile, Mustafa is freezing at the country house and he sounds quite sick.. He finds ammunition for the rifle hanging on the wall.
Halide is taken inside the house and she’s feeling better but she’s still asking for Mustafa. Peri says this would be the last place to find him. He isn’t working for us anymore. We have no relationship with him. Halide asks mother to mother, please, what happened to my son? Peri replies, why would we know? Halide asks them not to lie. She knows they have a case against him and they are scaring him. Did your sons kidnap him?
Peri says that is nonsense. Halide asks then why did your brother come? He asked for him and Mustafa left. This is a surprise to Peri. But she says it must be something about the company. Halide thinks it’s something else. He hasn’t been the same since he met you (the Yasarans). He received a lot of money and God knows you used him for dirty work. Halide cries and continues on.
Meryem tells Fatma she had a convo with Kerim last night. I wanted to hear what he really thought about this. Kerim is like my son. Fatma says he is happy. That’s what he told me, Meryem replies. He gave me his approval. Fatma lets Meryem know that Kerim told her she had refused to marry a man so as not to leave Kerim alone.
Meryem says it was something like that. He proposed but he didn’t accept Kerim. His mother didn’t accept me with him. I couldn’t leave my son. Obviously, I said no. Fatma says [Turkish] Kerim felt guilty about that. Like you sacrificed your happiness for him. That’s why he is very happy now. Meryem shares that Kadir said that gave him the courage to share his feelings with me.
Kadir calls Meryem. He’s landed and will be back this evening. Kadir sends a kiss. Fatma and Meryem smile and laugh until there is a crash through the restaurant window. It is Nihat throwing stones and he’s shouting for Fatmagul to come out. Damn you! You destroyed my family! I’m going to destroy you! He over turns tables and chairs outside. Neighbors come running over to grab him. Meryem goes to the door and shouts at him. The neighbors drag him away. Meryem calls the police.
Fatma speaks with Nurdan. Nihat is free! They know. He beat Nalan when he left the courthouse. Fatma can’t believe they let him out. He confessed. He denied it in the court, Nurdan says. His lawyer convinced the judge that he confessed under pressure and because years passed, there was no evidence. That’s why he went free. Ozge is scared.
Fatma tells Nurdan that Nihat came and broke the windows and he’s probably on his way home. Nurdan says they left home and are in a taxi. Fatma tells them to come to her house.
The Yasarans meet again with their new business partners. This time Meltem is there. Selim comments that she looks more beautiful than ever. Erdo snarks, separating from you did her good. He adds, if you can make her fall in love with you again, we could save the company. They laugh. Meltem sees them snickering and can’t stand it . Ender says they have to put up with it for now, be patient.
Kerim and Mehmet return to Rose Kitchen and see the cops there. Kerim immediately worries about Fatma. Meryem says she’s okay and explains that Nihat showed up and trashed the place. She tells Kerim that Fatma went home and Ozge and her family are heading there, too.
Muka thinks Fatma is crazy to invite those people to the house. Fatma calls Neziye and she’s coming over. Kerim calls Fatma. Yes, she’s fine, but he’s upset that once again there was trouble, and he wasn’t with her. Fatma says it was better he wasn’t there. She tells him she invited Ozge because they have no place to go.
Muka says you didn’t even ask Kadir. Fatma says his phone was off because he was with the prosecutor. There was no time to wait and he probably would agree. Muka complains, is this a place for refugees? Look what that man did at the restaurant. God knows what he would do here. I have two kids, I don’t want them to get hurt. Fatma calls Muka selfish.
Muka is not only selfish but she’s cruel. Do you have to help everyone with their problems? Why don’t they go to a shelter? Fatma tells her she’s heartless.
Nihat returns home to find the family is gone. He calls Nalan. Where are you? Come home! She’s not coming back. She will divorce him. He threatens. Do you think Fatmagul can save you?! I’ll find you and kill you and I’ll kill Fatmagul, too. Nalan hangs up.
Ozge and family arrive at Kadir’s. Muka is not happy. She sees they have two small children with them, too.
The Yasarans sign the deal with Ender’s company. Resat gets up and walks out right away. Ender says they will take over the logistics department first. Another person asks about the construction company. We will wait for that one, Ender says, we will follow the legal process. Someone asks if there will be problems with the eviction. Ender replies, no, in six months all departments of the company that was the Yasarans will be transferred to us.
Meeting is over and Erdo tells Ender, [Turkish] why so rude Ender Hanım? Isn’t it too early to celebrate? Ender says she’s saving her celebration for the day the two of them will be put in prison. Erdo says we are still partners until May. Only on paper, Ender replies.
Selim tries to speak with Meltem. I will see you often here, he tells her. Erdo calls out to Meltem before she leaves, oh by the way, did you congratulate Mustafa for his baby? Did you know he will be a father soon? She says, leave me alone. And she goes. Selim is ticked, why did you mention Mustafa? So you don’t forget, Erdo says.
And we are out.
S2 – Epi 41
Part 1
As fate would have it…Hanife lost the battle for the gun. The ultimate sacrifice after having sacrificed 27 years for her sister. Azize cries in vain….Hanife’s life is over…but another one begins. Somewhere in a field…Zehra’s baby is born to ecstatic and relieved parents.
In an abandoned village ReyMir take refuge. Reyan is spooked while searching door to door for supplies…but doesn’t give up and she stumbles across water and egg somehow. In the same area…Cihan and his men continue following the trail of blood.
Azize enters the house with thoughts of her younger self with Hanife who as a child begged Azize never to leave her. In the present she cries not understanding why Hanife would think she’d harm her. …Guess Azize’ henchman brandishing a gun was nothing to be concerned about. Anyway, Azize cries for forgiveness then tells Mahmut they will not sacrifice anyone else… and he should destroy that house. He does as ordered…..dousing a room with oil and lights a fire. They go to leave but Azize sees the ghost of younger Hanife asking her sister to bring her candy when she returns.
Hazar and Zehra tend to the baby…making the customary declarations…promises….etc. Zehra looks spent but the couple tries to find help and make it to the road….sit….and make more promises to the baby. They then decide to walk in the middle of the road….a speeding car comes along and someone helps picks them up. I thought they were going to have another close call and get hit by the speeding car.
Elsewhere Azat is pulled to the side of the road with thoughts of the past…resolved to get over Reyan…she should be happy…not necessarily with him.
Azize returns to the mansion….Gonul lays in wait...verbally attacks her for letting her down and stealing the man she loves. Esma watches as a fed up Azize reaches back and wallops Gonul good across the face. She falls to the ground…Esma helps her but Azize grabs her by the hair “who do you think you are…are you crazy” . “I don’t recognize you Gonul”…and she pushes her across the courtyard…telling Esma to stay out of it. Azize continues to man handle Gonul pushing her to the ground again. She drags Gonul to her room….telling her to get in line. Esma runs to get Sultana as Gonul can be heard crying for help. Just in time…Sultana returns home to hear the commotion and runs to help Gonul…but the door is locked. Inside…Gonul is shoved around more and forced to look in the mirror. Azize calls her a loser…a bitch…obsessed with a man. She hasn’t learned anything from her…. Azize. She has no dignity….but it’s time to use her head…think….stop acting like a hungry bitch. No man is worth wasting your life. (So… Azize was harsh and brutal…but no truer words have been spoken). But stupidly… Gonul cries “I’m in love abuela”. So Azize has to get physical some more and tell her it’s not love…its obsession. “you don’t love him and he don’t love you…Miran will never love you…forget about that man”…Azize tells her. Outside the room, Sultana runs off telling herself she’s got to go get her son so he can save his sister. Back inside…Azize continues berating Gonul…..telling her she’s pathetic…no dignity. No one can love you if you don’t love and respect yourself. “Miran has turned you into trash” she tells Gonul.

Part 2
Finally Gonul speaks…saying she doesn’t know anything else. “It’s what you taught me” she tells Azize. …what else is she suppose to do. …”.you’ve always told me I would be Miran’s wife…and nothing else”. (Well…Gonul has a point…having been controlled and groomed by Azize all her life). Azize tells her she should forget everything she’s taught her….and forget about Miran. Standup like an Aslanbey. Azize finally opens the door…telling the help to clean the room. A distraught Gonul refuses the touch of Emsa and the maid....telling them to get out.
Reyan continues her vigil of Miran….confident he will survive. She thinks back to the time she shot him with regret. Everything they’re going thru is because of their love. He’s unconscious but she talks to him reliving past moments. She finally lies next to him with their wedding pic between them. She promises him that going forward…they won’t waste their life….they will move on.
Alone…Gonul thinks back on the harsh words from Azize. Looking in the mirror…she vows she’s not a looser and she won’t let Azize destroy her (not the reaction I was expecting…she didn’t learn anything from the beat down and the harsh words from her granny). In her room, Azize is deep in thought as well…remembering Hanife…the tussle for the gun…”why little sister”…she asks herself. After all these years….the Sadoglus continue to destroy her. Everything is their fault. (exactly the response I was expecting...Azize refuses to learn or look inward).
Azize receives a call from Mahmut who updates her about Cihan’s hunt for ReyMir. She tells him to stay out of it… either Miran kills Cihan…..or Cihan kills Miran. Gonul….who was outside of Azize’s window….hears this bit of info and runs off.
A now conscious Miran moans in pain ..Reyan comes running. He pretends to be hemorrhaging inside. Horrible joke…he apologizes. They go over the events from the previous day…with her confessing that she was at the scene of the crime because of Aslan. Of course Miran is pissed that Aslan has her phone #.....and she took a ride with Harun. Reyan is annoyed that with everything they’ve gone thru the previous day…he picks a fight with her because he’s jealous. She has to tell him that they are being pursued and it’s not the time for them to fight over trivial stuff. She goes outside to cool off…and to lament why they can’t live in peace.
Hazar and Zehra made it to the hospital. They both are fine…as is the baby. He’s going to go home…get cleaned up…and come back for her. She’s worried…thinking back to the close call they just lived. They could have died but the only thing she could think of was the baby. This makes her think. “A person can sacrifice their own life but not that of their child”….she says. Hazar assumes she was speaking of her…but she tells him she was speaking of Dilsah. He tries to change the subject but she presses on telling him she thinks Miran is really his son and needs to investigate.
Miran calls for Reyan…he doesn’t want to fight. He’s still in pain…but it’s his heart he says….pulling her close. They agree not to fight anymore….and not waste. She brings him the eggs….and he realizes what she’s done to take care of him in the middle of nowhere.
Elsewhere near the hotel..…Gonul is walking down the street….reeling from what she just heard Azize say. Firat pulls up and she goes to him for help. He is upset seeing her bruised face… demanding to know what happened…but all she can say is that they are going to kill Miran. He’s speechless as the epi ends.
The End.
Nett
Nett, thank you for a great recap as the drama continues to unfold im its own special, frustrating way.
Do Rey and Mir know that Mah mutt shot Mir shot Mir? Mir is jealous...what a suprise.
Gee whiz ....Azz went all BSC on Gonul. Yikes . I am glad that Gonul alerted Firat that Mir is in danger. Hopefully help is in the way.
Glad the baby is okay. Did the writers let us know what happened to the ambulance driver and EMT ?
Thank you Nett for your recap! Clear, concise and straightforward! Well, we all guessed that Hanife would meet her demise. Damn shame, like you said, after 27 yrs of sacrifice for evil Azize! Then Azize with her crocodile tears, that are so frozen with hate, makes it hard to believe that she can really mourn anyone. So Yippee Ki-Yay you’ve decided that no one else will be sacrificed! But at what cost already!?!? And of course Hanife had every reason to distrust you! You threw her under the bus, and then have mad dog Mahmoud “brandishing” that gun! I must say, Mahmoud is on the ball! He’s got everything you need for shooting someone, setting necessary fires, demolishing gravesites etc, right at hand! He should open his own company and name it “Mahmoud’s Murder Inc,” We get it done right the first time!
Meanwhile, over at the Lion King set, Hazar is lifting his little princess up to the sun like she’s Simba or something! But the irony wasn't missed, a death and a new life. I’m actually glad every thing turned out okay for them! Lord knows I couldn’t take anymore of Zehra’s yelling and crying if it hadn’t! Lol! I may be the only one, but I LOVED evil Azize beating the crapola out Gonul! Gonul girl, you picked the wrong day to get up in your granny’s face with your BS! Azize looked at Gonul during her rant with that “make my day bitch” look on her face! Azize has got some moves for an older broad and made sure that Gonul felt every last one of them! You’re the worst person on the planet Azize, but you can sure back it up with some kick azz when you need too! Lol! I still can’t wait for Azize to get hers though! Can’t wait!
Moron, Moron, Moron! Cause that is exactly what you are! Why did I expect you to be happy that you’re alive, and that your girl braved lions, tigers and bears to save your jealous, complaining butt! If there was any doubt that Reyyan loves you, it needs to be erased ASAP! Yeah, I agree that Aslan is suspect, but stop being such a control freak and let Reyyan make some decisions on her own! All your decisions haven’t been the best, so stop acting like your pits don’t stink! Miran is so tiring!
Now that Aslan knows that Miran isn’t a true Aslanbey, I’m sure he’ll use it to his advantage. My question is how and when he will reveal this? He’s gotta play his cards right because Miran, knowing him, will definitely not believe Aslan or take the news well……
Thanks again Nett; I’m starting to enjoy this dizi again!
Dear Dondi, you are amazing . Thank you so much for another detailed , fantastic recap as this story continues to unfold. I appreciate your devotion to bc bring these excellent recaps to us.
Watching the love stories between Fatmagul and Kerim and Meryem and Kadir become deeper and stronger is comforting . When you are blessed to find your soulmate , you take turns supporting and lifting each other up from the challenges that come into your lives. Somehow everything can be endured because you have each other.
Thank you, dondi356, for the complete picture with the cuts.
Meryem and Kadir's romance was a welcome distraction for the family. Lifted everyone's spirit.
Fatmagul has come a long way and is now helping Ozge and her family.
Thanks VERY much, Nett, for this wonderfully complete and concise recap!
Yes, as you point out, we have one person dying while another is being born. Such is life. I was surprised at how emotional Azize was over Hanife's death. I had doubted that she could really care about anyone but herself, but I think her grief over Hanife was real.
The birth scene was interesting. But how did they deal with the umbilical cord? And although Zehra was exhausted, she looked surprisingly clean for someone who had just given birth. No sign of the placenta. I was also a little surprised that we didn't see the baby try to find Zehra's breast. And IIRC, she also didn't cry. And yes, I too feared that one or more of them would be hit by a speeding car.
I was delighted that Azize hauled off and socked Gonul, and not just once or twice. When she said that no man is worth wasting your life, she may have been partly motivated by memories of her own love for a man who didn't come to save her, and that may have added intensity to her response to Gonul. Azize's continued claim that everything is the fault of the Sadoglu also looks back to Nasuh's failure to live up to his professions of love, and perhaps to more that he did or didn't do.
As for Miran, yes, he's definitely back to being Moron. Arrgh. ¡Ya basta!
I noticed that Firat put a pistol in the glove compartment right before Gonul spotted him. I wonder whether the Chekhov claim (that a gun we see in Act 1 has to be fired by the end of the play) will be adhered to here.
Dondi, thank you for another fantastic recap! I love all the details and cuts as always!
Mustafa might not be a better man than Resat but he's a better villain for sure. He's more cunning and crafty. He is also scarier.... Resat just has more resources and power.
Muka is selfish and heartless!! And horrible but you gotta admit she has killer instincts (except when it comes to her own romantic history)! She zeroed right in on who done it immediately. She has actually jumped right to the right conclusion several times throughout this tale....too bad she uses her powers for evil!
Halide asking the Yeseran mom's what happened to Mustafa was laughable! Her biggest argument is Mustafa lying to her and hiding things from her and she really thinks Erdo and Selim are doing a bunch of shady stuff and coming home and tell their mommy's all about it???
Darcy, yes, I agree. As interfering , selfish, and nosy as Muk is, she does seem pretty smart and insightful. She was the one who suggested that the rapist was someone in the household. It makes you wonder about something similar happening her past that made her think that .
Also, she certainly loves to push couples togetger..Kerim and Fatmagul and then Meryem and Kadir. However, she gets that dirty , sly smirk on her face . She seems obsessed with the sex lives of others.
Thanks so much, VVS, Juanita, and Nett for all the terrific recaps and clever asides. I've not commented for a couple of days.
Carmella: loved "Lion King set" and raising "Simba" to the sky.
And, Susanlynn, I also thought...What? Hazar, Zehra and new baby pile into the stranger's car and nothing is said about the ambulance driver and the EMT.
Didn't HAG have the Country House burned up? If I ever need home repairs, I'm calling some Turks because that house looked fine after Mahmoud shot off the lock.
They never showed what happened to Hanife's body, did they? I'm also wondering about the promised letter revealing all. I don't blame Hanife for wanting some $$ in recompense for all the years she's put up with being a servant. Is that letter inside a doll also?
I was also ticked at Moron reacting to Aslan's having Reyyan's phone number. I was glad to see Reyyan light into him for that idiotic jealousy. And, of course, we got another of their scenes in which they say nothing will part them from now on. Yeah, right! We've heard that before.
Also did not mind Gonul's getting a beatdown from her granny. But it was pretty shocking when she overheard HAG say that either Cihan or Miran being killed would be fine with her.
Excellent recap Nett, thank you so much! I also enjoyed the HAG beat down of Gonul. Telemundo cut a lot of the furniture flying around from the scene. The Turkish version is a lot more satisfying.
carmella, you are hilarious! “Mahmoud’s Murder Inc,” We get it done right the first time! And the Lion King set! Too funny. I was daydreaming last night that I could use a shirtless scene with Mahmoud in it. 😊 thank you for verifying the bald guy in the suit. I saw him briefly again last night and he was the informant to Mahmoud.
Miran was definitely more tolerable in a delirious fever, not being stupidly jealous, after everything our Girl Scout Reyyan did for him.
I felt very sad for Hanife. I was hoping she might get away to start a new life, find Dilsah (who has to be alive) and get their revenge on Azize.
Nice to have you back novelera! I always love your comments and think you will have a good one to recap tonight.
Juanita, I totally think your “Chekhov claim (that a gun we see in Act 1 has to be fired by the end of the play) will be adhered to here.” Might indeed transpire. At least Gonul thought to find Firat to save ReyMir, or at least Reyyan. Miran is on everyone’s nerves.
Thanks again Nett!
