Novelera, one more thing about Elif's diary/diaries: I am not sure, but I think the old, battered diary Cihan found had a soft cover, while the one Gonul received from Azat has a hard cover.
Hercai 2 - #37 – Parte 1 de 4
Delusional Gonul talks with Firat, who assures her Miran only loves Reyyan. She says something defiant to him because she sees HAG coming up the stairs. Then she tells HAG that she doesn’t believe in her lies.
Reyyan misses Miran while the sad bolero plays and we see some scenes of the two of them in happier times. Then she goes to the kitchen and shows off some cooking skills we’ve not seen before. When Azat comes in she gives him some of her baked goods for the road. He tells her that, if she had Mavi, she’d have gone riding with him instead of staying up all night baking. He also tells her this could be their destiny…to love and not be with the one they love. We see that Handan overhears this
Handan mutters to herself that every mother has to protect her children, even if she has to be una pulga (flea) in their ears. She calls Zehra and tells her that Reyyan is divorced.
Abruptly we see Miran and Zehra together. He tells her she has to come with him to Midyat. He tells her what happened on the way (in a voiceover). That they are not really divorced, etc. [Way to go Miran. Drag a ready-to-pop pregnant lady a long way to settle your problem.]
Reyyan tells Melike (who does seem to have lost some weight) that she told Miran she was going away. Now she feels bad. They have no phones to call him. But Melike finds one for Reyyan to use. Rey tells him that she doesn’t want them to be apart. When her mother gives birth, she’ll come back (to Midyat) with her mother and they’ll be together.
Zehra tells Miran she’s going to fix everything.
Gonul shows up to confront Aslan. She wants to know who he is and if he works for Azize. She asks if he’s interested in Reyyan because she heard about the fight. She also says it isn’t simple jealousy from Miran; he’s picked up on something about Aslan. Aslan tells her that he’s caught on that SHE wants something: Miran Aslanbey. When she leaves, he says to himself “When will you learn that what you think is love is only hurt pride?”
We are treated to what looks like a silly scene with Hanife in high dudgeon because Seyda moved some things in the kitchen. But it wasn’t so pointless because Huran is sitting there and overhears Hanife saying she’s worked at the Sadoglu konak for 35 years.
Harun calls Mahfuz. [OT…why do these guys never tuck their shirts in?] Harun, with his shirt out, tells Mahfuz about Hanife having said she’d been there 35 years. Mahfuz remembers Aslan telling him that Azize Aslanbey was capable of using her own sister as a servant for 29 years. And she was also capable of keeping her own grandson from his mother. Aslan went on to say that at least Hanife knew why, but no one ever asked him if HE were willing.
Back to the present Mahfuz tells Aslan that he was right. There’s more to Azize’s vengeance than what happened that night. Harun learned something important. He learned that Hanife went to work for the Sadoglu, not 29 years ago, but 35 years ago. Aslan muses: “Hazar Sadoglu went into the army in 1992. The incident with his uncle happened after he returned. If Hanife was already there for 6 years, when Hazar was only 13 or 14 years old, he didn’t even know Dilsuh then.”
Hercai 2 - #37 – Parte 2 de 4
Aslan wonders what’s HAG’s reason for the vengeance if it’s not about his uncle. Mahfuz says that Hanife doesn’t know or she’d have told them. She only spoke about that night. Hazar is innocent and could not have killed Tío Mehmet. But before…only Azize Aslanbey and Hanife know what happened before. Mahfuz: “And, if Hanife hasn’t told us, then she hasn’t decided whose side she’s on.” Aslan gets up, telling Mahfuz to call Hanife. He wants to meet her in the street outside.
Zehra and Miran arrive. She tells him there’s things he doesn’t know. Miran remembers Snake Yaren telling everyone about Reyyan not being Hazar’s daughter, but he doesn’t say anything to Zehra about this.
New Hazar, with the bad personality transplant, coldly tells Reyyan they’re leaving in the afternoon. Zehra waddles along the street telling herself that all this will end; she won’t give birth in this hell.
Gul comes to the rooftop terrace to see her sister. Then she runs down to see her father, asking why he’s making Reyyan sad. “What if her other dad finds out and comes to take her away?”
Bang! Door flies open and Zehra enters. Gul sees her first and runs down the stairs. Zehra pushes Hazar away. She starts reaming him for his treatment of Reyyan while she was gone. “How could he hide the divorce from her? If Handan hadn’t called her…” Handan gets a couple of dirty looks from the roaches. Zehra lights into all of them, especially Nasuh. “Stay away from my daughter!” Miran looks on either from his new house or he’s sneaked into the Sadoglu konak again. I have a hard time telling which one he’s in at any point in time.
Zehra rushes upstairs with Gul and asks for her doll. Gul tells her that the doll is in Miran’s grandmother’s house. Woe is Zehra! But she says that she’s going somewhere and, if Hazar doesn’t listen to her when she returns, he’ll never see his daughters' faces again. Nasuh goes after Zehra, telling Hazar to stay put. Gul is very upset and faints. [Novelera remembers the bullet in her head, but Gul comes to and seems all right.]
Outside in the street Nasuh tells Zehra he knows she’s worried about her daughter, but he’s worried about his son. ReyMir can’t be together. He tells her that Hazar killed Azize’s son. Reyyan overhears this. Zehra doesn’t believe it. Nasuh goes on and says that Hazar doesn’t even remember what happened that night. He (Nasuh) thought Miran was giving up the revenge, but not he’s not. And…if he finds this out…
Aslan appears. He’d come to see Hanife but instead grabs Reyyan’s arm. Yaren sees Reyyan being pulled away.
Zehra keeps insisting that Nasuh is lying. Hazar would not do that. Nasuh keeps insisting that the vengeance isn’t over. Zehra tells him Hazar is going to be with ALL his children, because Miran is also Hazar’s child. Nasuh looks like he’s about to stroke out (and plenty guilty as well).
Aslan takes Reyyan into Miran’s new house. She seems in shock. She tells Aslan not to tell anyone. This secret will be between us. And…of course…on cue the Bull appears. He’s snorting away. “What does this mean? What secret is between you? Tell me!” Reyyan says what she’ll probably have to say 20,000 times: “Miran, cálmate, por favor.” When Aslan starts to say something that begins with the word “We…”, Miran blows his top.
Hercai 2 - #37 – Parte 3 de 4
Nasuh keeps telling Zehra it’s not true. Zehra tells him about Esma, who was the only person close to Dilsuh in that house. He replies that Esma is Azize’s right hand. Zehra says that she has proof and tells him about the letter.
Back to the raging bull. Aslan tells him he saw Yaren watching the two of them. He didn’t give it away that the house was Miran’s. That secret isn’t his; it’s theirs (ownership of the house). “I kept Yaren from revealing it.” Reyyan begs the Bull to not make things worse. Reyyan then comes out. Miran accuses Aslan some more through gritted teeth and then Aslan comes out onto the porch.
Zehra tells Nasuh she saw the letter with her own eyes, but she lost it. Nasuh insists she call Esma and have her come.
Aslan makes up a great story in front of nearly all the roaches. He says he bought the house next door when he thought the Sadoglu were his family. When he found out that wasn’t true, he wanted to sell it. He doesn’t know why Reyyan is here; maybe she came to see what was going on. Yaren pipes up: “He’s lying; they entered together.” Harun manages to shut her down for a minute, but it takes Cihan to pull it off.
Miran comes out after everyone leaves and gives Aslan a slow clap.
Another quick change that looks like a Telemundo cut, and we see that Esma is lying to Zehra in front of Nasuh. Not sure if Nasuh hears it, but Esma says she can’t open her mouth or Azize will punish her with her son. Esma: “I did you the favor of your life. If you’d have shown it to Hazar, all this would already be over.” [Amen, Esma!] After she leaves Zehra might be foreshadowing when she says that someday Esma will need help and no one will do so.
Zehra tells Nasuh “Why couldn’t it be true? Didn’t Dilsuh plan to marry Hazar when he returned from the army? Isn’t it true they were in love? Nasuh remembers the awful things he said to Dilsuh when she came to him for help. Nasuh finally says that they need to go see Ayla, Dilsuh’s good friend.
The stallion and the chihuahua face off. Miran tells Aslan he’ll find out what he’s hiding.
Nasuh and Zehra are in the car on the way to Mardin. Hazar keeps calling each of their phones. Nasuh finally tells him to leave there and come to where Ayla lives.
Azize talks with Esma. “So you lost the letter?” Esma says that Zehra was afraid. She knew from Hazar about Dilsuh and thought Esma could help. Azize: “And she told you where she got the letter? Who gave it to her?”
Mahmoud the Robot comes and tells HAG that his guys couldn’t get Reyyan. herc
Hercai 2 - #37 – Parte 4 de 4
Miran spies on Reyyan. She’s worried Miran will find out what Nasuh said. Yaren comes up and starts with her usual taunting. She accuses her of having a thing with Aslan: ”a rey muerto, rey puesto” (off with the old, on with the new). Smoke comes out of the bull’s nostrils at this. Reyyan is sad and begins breaking her potted plants. Miran jumps down and stops her. The new cook comes up to that level. He’s brought a tray and tells whoever was behind him not to come; wind has blown off some plants and everything’s a mess. So he’s saved them from discovery.
Aslan comes home and tells Mahfuz that he couldn’t see Hanife. “Nasuh told Zehra that Hazar shot Mehmet, and Reyyan overheard. You should have seen how devastated she was. She believes her father didn’t do it. If her real father could realize the daughter he lost, he'd be devastated.” [We see the expression on Mahfuz’s face.] The two of them muse about whether Hazar did it or not. Mahfuz thinks he might have to save Dilsuh’s life.
Mahfuz gets a call from Señor Hanime (??). “You came to Mardin? Why did you make this bad decision? Can we see each other? He didn’t see Hanife. Nasuh said that Hazar shot Mehmet. Reyyan and Aslan heard it also.”
Reyyan calls Aslan from Azat’s phone to tell him that her father would never have killed anyone. He tells her that HE got a note: “If you reveal that Hazar is innocent and reunite Miran and Reyyan, then you will have a family.” [Whaaat?]
Firat and Miran talk and then some other guys drag in a guy that Miran threatens. Miran wants to know who ordered him to stop the car Sultana, Gonul, Ayise and Esma were riding in. After some more threats, the guy tells Miran that it was the same people who had him kidnap the woman. Miran shows him Rey’s picture on his phone. Miran, more reasonable than usual, wants to go see Aslan to compare the notes.
Hanife tells Reyyan that Azize threatened her to leave the door open (at Casa Sadoglu) because she wants to talk with you. “She plans to send Mahmoud here when everyone is asleep and take you by force.” Reyyan says she’ll handle it. Then Hanife calls Azize to tell her: “She’ll come.” [I’m with Mahfuz; I don’t know whose side Hanife is on.]
Yaren is in some soap store. She’s griping because she’s been sent to buy detergent one uses to wash baby clothes. Miran shuts the door, and the bull comes out. She shrinks back. “Listen to me! You aren’t going to say one word to Reyyan or try to trick her again. For even one tear she might shed, you’ll suffer!”
Hazar arrives outside Ayla’s house. Zehra tells him: “I found a letter written by Dilsuh. Miran is your son!” [cara de impactada de Hazar] She tells him that Esma gave her the letter…the one she lost. Now Esma denies it all. I came here for other evidence. Hazar bangs on Ayla’s door, and she comes out. “Tell me! Miran is my son?”
Novelera, thank you for a great recap of a wild and wooly episode with some surprises .
Gee, I do not know what people are saying, but I saw Handen sitting on the stairs talking to ....surprise ...Zehra. And then ...surprise, the camera pulls back , and we see that Miran is sitting opposite Zehra. Then, we see very pregnant Zehra in the car with Mir. Next, we see Zehra struggling up the street and bursting into the konak. When you are that pregnant , you get pretty cranky, but Zebra is Miranstyle furious ...yelling and ranting. I felt so bad for poor, little Gul. She was so happy to finally see her mama...but then all the yelling. Poor, little girl growing up surrounded by these angry, crazy people.
Yaren is hateful . She was yelling in Rey's face and to punctuate her tirade , she broke the first potted plant which set off Rey breaking more with Mir up on the rooftop lie advantage and his reindeer hearing it all . I guess the new cook is a good guy since he didn't blow the whistle on Mir.
I liked Mir using his bad temper to ream Yaren out and threaten her about staying by away from Rey . I thought Harun was going to tame this shrew. Where has that crazy guy gone ?. He has been keeping a very low profile since Aslan came in the scene .
Did Aslan really get a note ,or is this part of his plan to....what?....I still dont understand his plan.
So....Aslan doesn't realize that his right hand man is the biofather of his magnificent obsession , the horse riding , plant talking , midnight Baker ?
I am so confused. Around and around we go.
Dear Dondi, a quick thank you for the excellent recap of #47 .
I watched the scene at the goodbye at the airport , but I didn't know what they were saying , so you made everything clear for me . it is amazing how much the actors communicate with their facial expressions and body language, especially Engin, but having b the actual dialogue is so helpful.
In Arabic, the word " mumtaz" means excellebt, distinguished, wonderful . I learned this word and loved to say it to my students when they did good work .
More later.
First, thank you to Juanita and Nett for their excellent recaps. I’ve been falling behind and your recaps have been extremely valuable in helping me to catch up. And my thanks to novelera for another great recap that was also very helpful. A pleasure to read them all. So many reveals in the past week or so. A lot to sort through.
Miran makes this dizi almost unwatchable for me. At this point, I wouldn’t even be upset if they did an “Amor Eterno” on him. Maybe Miran’s head will explode when he finds out he’s a Sadoglu?
Gorgeouscreepy Aslan can really think on his feet. Miran had that right, he’s a great liar. Well, he’s a true blood Aslanbey. The patio could tell him that Azize’s thirst for revenge stems from Nasuh.
Unfortunately, Zehra is back with her eye popping rants.
At least the word is getting out that Miran is a Sadoglu. Who needs a letter when we have DNA? I'm almost positive that Dilsah is alive and maybe she can tell Hazar and Miran herself.
Mahfuz got a call from the mysterious “Hanımefendi” (translates to madam or lady). Didn’t some speculate that she is Tia Fusun? Is Mahfuz the only one who communicates with her? Does Aslan know her, too? Are Hanımefendi and Aslan working together or separately to get revenge on Azize? Everyone seems to have their own agenda.
Susanlynn, I am confused as well on who knows who and who they really are.
I’m looking forward to tonight’s show and hope it’s not a disappointment. Really looking forward to one hour episodes.
Love your recaps novelera! They are soooooo much fun! Your adjectives are right on point! “Delusional” Gonul is exactly what she is! And as I stated before, why does she think that a divorce between Reymir is a road that leads straight back to her?!?! Like why do you even want a man that you know loves somebody else?!?! Hasn’t life with Azize already been misery enough!?!? Plus, the Miran we know ain’t no prize! He’s a blustering loudmouth with no verbal or physical filters! He’s a blockhead who puts the ass in the word jackass! Run Gonul! Far and fast if you have any sense at all! Miran’s only saving grace for me at this point, is simply the way that he looks at Reyyan. He still makes me blush when he does that! And I have to give him props for putting Yaren’s evil azz to the cutting board!
“ New Hazar with the bad personality transplant!” Whahahahaha!!! So true! He’s even got this gray pallor to his skin tone right now! He went from crying like he was constantly cutting onions, to a cold sarcastic butthead! And now we gotta deal with the mother of all “Hija’s “ Zehra! My hija this, my Hija that! She really makes me want to hurl objects!
Aslan, sexy liar that he is, is trying to get Reyyan to trust him completely and will do anything to accomplish that goal. Problem is, like I said before, is that he’s sloppy. Why in the world would he leave the remote to his secret wall so haphazardly in the chair? Wouldn’t you make sure that it’s put in a place that would be hard to find? He may be good at thinking on his feet, but he’s not looking at all the angles. Maybe his obsession with Reyyan is making him a little stupid…….and careless…..
Thanks again novelera! Much appreciated!
Looks like I won't be able to do a full recap of Thursday's show. I've only watched half of it and it looks like they did another awful chop job on it, including a very poorly timed commercial break! So please go ahead and discuss this very important episode. I can fill in the cuts later.
I'm going to post an English translation of the poem Kerim and Fatma read on Thursday.
I can do a recap of Friday's show over the weekend.
İstanbul’u Dinliyorum/I am Listening to Istanbul
I am listening to İstanbul, with my eyes closed
first a light wind blows;
Leaves sway on trees
Without a hurry;
Far, very far away,
There are the never-stopping bells of the water-carriers
I am listening to İstanbul, with my eyes closed.
I am listening to İstanbul, with my eyes closed;
Birds are passing by, then;
From high above, in flocks, in screams.
The nets are being pulled in the harbor;
A woman’s feet touch the water;
I am listening to İstanbul, with my eyes closed.
I am listening to İstanbul, with my eyes closed;
It is crisp inside the Covered Bazaar
Mahmutpaşa, so very chirpy
Its courtyard is filled with pigeons
The beats of hammers are rising from the docks
In the glorious spring wind, the smell of sweat;
I am listening to İstanbul, with my eyes closed.
I am listening to İstanbul, my eyes closed;
I am intoxicated by the celebrations of the past
A waterside mansion with its dimmed boathouses;
Within the murmur of the died out southwest wind
I am listening to İstanbul, with my eyes closed.
I am listening to İstanbul, my eyes closed;
A coquette passes by the sidewalk;
Profanity, chants, songs, wolf whistles.
Something falls off of her hand;
It must be a rose:
I am listening to İstanbul, with my eyes closed.
I am listening to İstanbul, with my eyes closed;
A bird is fluttering on her skirts;
I know if you have fever or not;
I know if your lips are wet;
A white moon rises behind the pistachios
I know it from the beat of your heart;
I am listening to İstanbul.

Thanks VERY much, novelera, for this amazing recap of a very confusing episode. Not only was the recap helpful, it was a delight to read. Over and over again, I loved your choice of words: "delusional Gonul," "ready-to-pop pregnant lady," "Zehra waddles down the street," "New Hazar, with the bad personality transplant," and "the stallion and the chihuahua face off," to cite just a few.
Aslan is scarily talented at making up lies on the spur of the moment. In an earlier episode we saw him talk his way out of having those photos of the Sadoglu family. Now, he makes up a story about his having bought the house next to the Sadoglu konak (preventing people from knowing that Miran owns it), and then he goes on to tell Reyyan that he has been getting notes. And if/when the handwriting is compared with those written to Reyyan and to Azize, it will show that the same mysterious person has written them all. Thus, since the notes have proved helpful to ReyMir, Aslan must be on the side of beauty and truth as well.
I confess I'm still quite confused about many aspects of the story. Nasuh claims that Hazar killed Mehmet, but in spite of Nasuh's apparent love for Hazar, my money is still on Nasuh as the killer. Hanife seems to warn Reyyan about Azize, but then Hanife calls Azize and seems to confirm that Reyyan will meet with her. I'm honestly unsure whose side Hanife is on. Nor am I clear what Aslan is up to. And who was the person in black who came to Sukran's house in the previous episode and put hands near Sukran's face, as if about to choke her? Sukran thinks the mysterious person may have been Dilsah. Still alive? Back from the dead? Not Dilsah at all?
So on the one hand, the story does seem to be progressing, but on the other, each step forward results in more questions than answers. I can't wait for tonight's episode!
And [Trumpet Fanfare Here] THIS MONDAY HERCAI RETURNS TO ONE HOUR PER DAY!!!
Dondi, that WAS a very poorly timed commercial break! I feel like at this point mentioning how horrible the writers are is kind of like mentioning how horrible Muka is, too obvious and you get tired of repeating it everyday!
This has been the most stressful week I have had in a long while and I am not sure what all I even remember from watching yesterday but I will comment on what I can.
Speaking of Muka being horrible, her putting all Hacer's business out there just to take the media focus off her is another one of her greatest hits. She says turn about is fair play, but she didn't go after the Yeserans or Mustafa directly she hurt Hacer who is not her enemy.
Fatma and Kerim in the cabin, there's an issue the first night, with Fatma locking her bedroom door and Kerim feeling bad when he hears the lock turn because she doesn't trust him or is scared of him. I was wondering about this and maybe I just missed it. But I didn't think Fatma did lock the door the first time she went to sleep, it was only after the dog woke her up and she saw that Kerim was drinking that she locked the door. Am I wrong? I think it is the alcohol she is afraid of and for good reason!!!
Either way it was funny that she tried to explain the locked door the next morning by saying she locked it to keep the dog out! Lol cuz that dog could definitely open a shut door if it wasn't locked! But when she later brought up the subject again and Kerim told her to do whatever she needed to do to feel comfortable that was the sweetest thing! He's more concerned about what she needs then he is about how it makes him feel as he should be!
Then first kiss moment on the second night! With that horrible commercial break in between! Once again, it is sweet to see just how simple and chaste it was and how excited that grown man got about a simple chaste kiss! Lol Fatma was nervous but she didn't totally retreat. It was cute how Kerim was expressing his feelings and saying how after that last night he scared her he didn't think he would be brave enough to kiss her but he did it. He's so proud of himself! Lol and he assures Fatma they won't ever do anything she doesn't want to do.
A nice night spoiled by a horrible nightmare! But this time Kerim is able to come wake her from her nightmare because the door isn't locked! Still that would be hard, you go to sleep thinking about good things like first kisses just to have all your fears and trauma reappear in your dreams! So awful
Muka had the baby and Murat named his sister after the prettiest girl in his class! Aw!! Meryem delivered the baby apparently but this is among what I am sure was a lot of cuts. It did feel choppy it several places.
Kerim betting however much money it was Muka when the phone rang in the middle of his conversation with Fatma was hilarious!
I meant how horrible the editors are! Lol the writers are fantastic!!! I am clearly equally good at editing! ;)
Darcy, I just watched the episode , and I noticed that fatmagul looked a little concerned when she went out to the living room and saw Kerim drinking something in a bottle (beer?) . I don't blame her . When she went back to the bedroom, Kerim looked at the bottle and seemed to stop drinking .
Their little vacation playing house was sweet. Just gettig away from Muk must have been a huge stress relief . And they found a dog !
These writers are definitely messing with us! And, unbelievable...two adult woman (Reyyan and Melike) have their phones confiscated. Handan did it to Yaren, but that one seemed justified.
Susanlynn ITA about Yaren. In one episode a while back she admitted having always been jealous of Reyyan. Why? They are both beautiful, but Yaren was the golden child all along. Loved "Wasn't Harun supposed to tame this shrew".
dondi Yes, the actor playing Miran makes Viewerville just want to FF>> through many of his scenes. Thanks SO much for letting us know what Hanimefendi meant on Mahfuz's phone. I think I've been confused (what else is new?) about Aslan and Mahfuz saying La Señora several times. One of those times I thought they meant Hanife, but now I doubt they'd refer to her that respectfully. I thought I heard Mahfuz say Señor, but it was probably Señora.
Carmella Tell me what you really think about Miran!! And, yes, Hazar has developed a grey pallor in contrast with his profuse tears like "cutting onions". I think Azize's finding the secret room fits right in with what the writers have shown us of her character. She appears to always be one step ahead of everyone else. Aslan probably thought that study of his was sacrosanct and that Mahfuz, even if he saw the gadget to open the bookcase, wouldn't invade his privacy.
Halimacandy, thanks for your comments! "What are you going to do...kill her?" fit right in with my speculating that Miran looks like he could be an abuser in the way he wants total control over Reyyan. And regarding "dropping the bomb", it made me think of the expression I've seen in Mexican novelas when someone gets news really fast. They say sin anestesia. That's the way Zehra told Hazar Miran is his son.
Juanita I agree that we won't find out that Hazar killed Mehmet. And that Nasuh is Suspect #1 on my list. When they showed the person in black, I at first thought it was Azize. But then the person was gentle, and most of us think it's Dilsuh. But why would she wait all these many years before appearing before her mother?
I can’t believe Kerim dared to drink any alcohol at the house. Looked like he killed one bottle of beer and started a second. Yep, this time she locked her door. She didn’t do it the first time. I, too, thought it might be because she saw the alcohol.
Ay, that poem sounds so nice in Turkish, in Engin’s voice. Did it get a little too close for Fatma when he mentioned the fishing nets and a woman’s feet touch the water?
Cut: Ender tells Meltem she spoke to the woman who trapped Turaner and that she asked Mustafa for help. Meltem thinks Ender has lost her mind. Ender explains that Turaner trusted Musto and she wants to as well.
Cut: Kadir calls Yadigar and tries to convince her to say what she knows about the Yasarans. She wants to be left alone. He applies a little pressure, your grandchild is a girl, right? Yadi says she knows nothing. Kadir wants a face to face meeting. He continues to gently pressure her to make his case. Yadi stifles tears. She finally agrees to meet Kadir at her house.
That’s when Yasar shows up. Resat sent him to keep an eye on her. Yasar comments on her beautiful grandchild. Mashallah. How old? 18 mos. Is she your only grandchild? Yasar goes to touch the baby’s hand and Yadi says, don’t touch! Yasar wants to give her a ride home. Yadi wants to walk. Yasar grabs her arm… please, he says.
How depraved is Resat to threaten his beloved housekeeper using her grandchild.
Cut: Kadir calls Meryem and tells her about Yadi. He feels the Yasarans got to her. Either they scared her or bought her off.
Cut: After Lodos/Barbie is returned to her owner, Fatma comments that she got used to her. Now we are alone again, she says wistfully. That gets an unhappy look from Kerim. I think Fatma realized how that sounded to him.
Cut: Kerim is asleep in the living room area. He wakes up and calls for Fatma. He sees her sitting on the bench outside and she has a fire going. He smiles, goes out and stands on the porch for a moment watching her. She must feel his eyes on her because she turns, sees him, and asks him to come over. That’s where we come back into the show.
Oh, when Fatma started to recite the poem and held up the book. Then Kerim: “I know if your lips are wet” Fatma: “…I know it from the beat of your heart” He took her hand and placed it over his heart, and the first kiss was so sweet. That was the end of Turkish ep 53. They replayed that scene in the beginning ep 54. The spell broke when book dropped. They cut the end of the scene: Fatma heads to the kitchen to catch her breath. Kerim sits out front with a big smile! She starts cooking.
Cut: Kerim comes into the house. Dinner is on the table. Fatma mentions something about the water flow and Kerim starts to go out to check. She tells him to do it tomorrow and while she looks away, she burns her hand on a pot. He rushes to help her. But she pulls her hand away—she can take care of it herself. She also spilled some soup on herself and quickly goes into her room to change. She fixes her hair in the mirror, while Kerim pours the soup. He turns on the radio. The song is in English, but I have no idea what the song is. He asks about her hand. It’s fine, she says. They start eating.
Fatma does not lock her door that night!
The birth scene was a little longer, but it was fine with me how they edited it.
Cut: as Fatma readies to go back home, she has flashback to Kerim being happy that she said, “our tomatoes”. Did he shut the power and the water? He goes to check. She has flashbacks to them holding hands on their walk, playing the word game, Lodos arriving. She stares out the window at the bench and flashes on their kiss. That’s when Kerim comes back inside. And when Fatma says they collected many nice memories, we know exactly what she’s talking about.
Get a load of Resat talking to Mustafa and pushing the blame for that night and everything after solely onto Erdo. If only Fatma would blame only Erdo…
Lots of happy stuff with the new baby. Fatma and Kerim will make great parents one day.
I'll have a Friday recap up over the weekend.
Thank you Dondi! For sharing all the details of the cuts with us! You reminded me of a couple things that I had forgotten.
Resat is horrible! As you said, 'How depraved is Resat to threaten his beloved housekeeper using her grandchild.' Exactly! Blame Erdo all you want but you are still the type of man who would threaten a small child to get what you want! I hope whatever fate is coming for him is very unpleasant!!!
I can't believe Telemundo has the gall to keep broadcasting little reminders that Hercai returns to one hour next week as if they're doing us a big favor. And this...after torturing us for weeks with two-hour episodes.
Hazar demands to know the whole truth and nothing but the truth from Ayla. She answers, Dilsah was expecting your baby. She found out after you joined the military. Hazar is stunned. Ayla continues, in fact, she decided to write you and tell you. Hazar says she didn’t write him a letter. She never sent it, teary Ayla replies. Just before she married Mehmet Aslanbey, she lost the baby.
Not true, Zerha interjects, I saw the letter with my own eyes. It said Miran is Hazar’s son. I know that letter, Ayla says, and it’s true Dilsah wrote it. She was desperate. The Aslanbeys were oppressive, and she wanted to flee. Hazar, she was going to ask you for help, Ayla says, but how? What was she going to say? I told her not to write it, but she didn’t listen. She thought if you thought Miran was your son, you’d save her.
Hazar says she didn’t reach out to me. Why didn’t she send it? Ayla says she was too scared. How could she tell you Miran was your son after everything that happened between you two? That’s why she gave up.
Zehra pipes up, then why, if Miran isn’t his son, did Azize say he was? What, Hazar asks, Azize knows? Zehra says she confronted Azize about the letter and saw fear in her eyes. She doubled over when I told her I was going to talk. If Miran isn’t Hazar’s son, why did she react that way?
Ayla replies, you don’t know Azize at all. If you did, you would realize that she’d do anything to get you to believe it. Because if you believed Miran is your blood, you’d never try to hurt him. [Folks, get the DNA test. Remember Miran donated blood to Hazar?]
Hazar can’t take it and gets up from the table and walks out of Ayla’s yard with Zehra waddling after him and calling for him to wait.
Once they are gone, a teary Alya apologizes, Dilsah, I’m sorry. Quick cut to Ayla on the phone with HAG. Yep, Ayla lied to Hazar and Zehra. I told them what you ordered me to, Ayla says to Azize. Flashback to a previous conversation where Azize threatened harm to Ayla’s family. Azize hangs up and says to herself, now nobody can prove that Miran is Hazar Sadoglu’s son. [DNA! This is the 21st century, people!]
Back to Miran who continues to throw Yaren’s sins back in her face. You sent your brother to his death. You cooperated with my grandmother. I know everything. Listen to me, don’t force me to confront you like this ever again, he tells her. Consider this a warning—your first and last. Miran walks away and Yaren calls out after him, are you threatening to kill me? Miran turns, no, death would be your salvation, Yaren Sadoglu. [yes, but think of the other lives you’d save, Miran!] It’s the opposite, I will do all I can so you will suffer just as much as you made Reyyan suffer. Understand?
Miran leaves the shop and says, you’re next Aslan. Let’s find out who he is and what he wants. Azize intercepts him with a phone call, come to the mansion. I have important things to discuss. It’s about Reyyan, she’s on her way here. Miran is pissed but I guess he’s going home.
Rey shows up at the Aslanbey konak, where she’s immediately targeted by Gonul. Azize welcomes Rey and tells her they will talk about Miran. Rey reminds her they are divorced. What’s there to talk about? A new marriage, Azize says. Gonul objects, do you realize what you are saying abuela? Azize moves to shut that down fast and asks Sultana to take Gonul to her room.
Gonul resists. If anyone should go, it’s her (Reyyan). She shouts at Rey, get out of my house! She trades a few words with Azize. Azize has enough and shouts, Gonul! It’s Rey’s turn now. Have you no shame, she asks Gonul. Your words have no remorse. You’re a snake in the grass, that doesn’t hold back it’s venom. You endanger everyone. You all do, Reyyan states.
Gonul lunges at Rey and shouts, get out of here! Sultana holds her daughter back. Azize angrily warns Gonul, Reyyan is my guest, and you will leave her alone. Don’t make me repeat it. Gonul makes another move against Rey and Sultana steps in again.
Miran arrives just in time. What’s going on? Rey says Azize wants us to get remarried. Azize makes her case. You can’t stay away from each other, you meet in secret, you haven’t renounced your love. But the hostility between the families has hurt you. This is your chance. If you agree to a new marriage, the hostility can end. Nasuh didn’t accept peace, but I will accept your marriage. I won’t keep you apart. It will bring peace to the families. Gonul sighs and figdets in distress.
Miran sees through this “proposal”. What are you planning, grandmother? She claims she’s just trying to protect him. Yes, I said I wouldn’t renounce my love, Miran admits, but I’m not going to live it just because you say so. He tells Rey, let’s go. Azize calls to Rey, will you sacrifice your love? Rey replies, you have nothing more to say about us. I will not sacrifice my love, just like I’d never sacrifice a hair on my head. If we decide to remarry, it will be our choice, not yours. Rey walks out.
Miran tells Azize to stop this and he leaves, too. HAG thinks, I don’t care what you say Reyyan. I will get you to marry Miran so I can drive Aslan away and protect Gonul. Gonul confronts Grannie. If there was ever a bond between us, you destroyed it today. I will make my dreams come true, in spite of you, Gonul vows. You will see. If we survive this war, Azize answers, who knows what we will see. Time will tell. Sultana tries to talk to Gonul but she tells her mom, she will handle things on her own.
Cihan sends Sultana a message: come to the ruins. She agrees to meet.
ReyMir talk. Rey says it’s the usual, Azize wants to make us a part of her dirty tricks. Rey just wants to return home before she’s caught. Miran senses something else is up. Was it her father? Rey denies and replays Aslan’s note: “if you reveal Hazar is innocent, and bring Reyyan and Miran back together, you’ll have your family” Miran presses. He feels Rey is drifting away from him.
Rey blames Yaren’s attacks and her mother’s sudden arrival for affecting her. Miran thinks back to his warning to Yaren. Rey starts to go but Mir wants her to come with him.
Hazar and Zehra sit quietly. Don’t you have anything to say, she asks? Ok, get mad, shout at me, she tells him. Why did you hide this from me, Zehra? You should have told me about the letter immediately. She tells him they would have had to reveal that Reyyan isn’t his daughter. She was thinking of Reyyan and maybe a little bit of herself.
No more secrets, Hazar says. I have no right to be upset with you because there’s a lot I didn’t tell you either. He tells her about the fake ReyMir divorce and drops the pregnancy bomb. Hazar adds that Rey knows he is not her real father.
Aslan is busy writing more notes: “if you reveal that Hazar is innocent, and you reunite Reyyan and Miran, you’ll have your family.” He writes another: “Nasuh Sadoglu is Mehmet Aslanbey’s killer. You should be close to them and reveal the truth. Play your part and I’ll give you your family.”
Aslan crumples that, it’s too daring. He writes another: “to reveal Nasuh’s secret…” he crumples that, too. He starts again, “if you want to reveal the truth, remain close to Nasuh Sadoglu. He’s hiding an important secret.” That’s a keeper. Aslan says, I have to find out what happened, Reyyan. Only I can save you from this enigma. My only path is to use these notes to gain your trust.
Sultana calls Aslan. She’s worried about Gonul. She begs him to reveal the truth to Miran. Sultana tells him about Azize wanting ReyMir to remarry. Gonul won’t give up on Miran. If you tell Miran, this will end. Aslan doesn’t agree that telling Miran will solve anything but he will do what he can to keep Gonul from suffering. He hangs up.
Aslan realizes that Azize saw his picture wall. That’s why she wants ReyMir back and that’s how she will get him to go away. He won’t allow it. He will stop ReyMir for good. Mahfuz knocks at his door and Aslan shoves several crumpled notes in his pocket, dropping a few on the floor. It’s time to go.
Mir takes Rey to a very nice area with a stream rushing through. She wonders why they came. He opens the back of his car and there is a crate of flowers. [are they the ones she threw on the terrace?] We came because of these, he tells her, the flowers you don’t want trapped in a pot. What will we do with them, she asks? You lost hope, they will restore it, he replies.
Miran laments the change he sees in Rey. He says she used to tell him everything, but not anymore. You don’t trust me. Something happened in that house, and you won’t tell me. You’re scared, but I promise nothing will happen. When he sees her like this his heart breaks into a thousand pieces. Rey says she has nothing to hide. [except hearing Nasuh say Hazar killed Mehmet]
Miran tries to get her to talk by threatening to throw the flowers in the water. Stop! Rey shouts. She takes the crate. They plant the flowers. Rey says now they won’t die. Miran asks, are the alive when they don’t die? Living isn’t just not dying. Look at us… we haven’t died, but we can’t live our love. Not because we don’t want to, Reyyan replies. Would you rather this end, she asks?
Never, he says, I always want to take things further with you. [hmm…] Think of these flowers. They must be patient even in damp soil. Because they know water will come. He sprinkles them with water. He continues, and like their roots, their hope grows. That’s why their roots grow stronger underground. He puts his hands on her face, when will you start to have hope?
She gets up from the ground. I can’t. I’ve tried. I want to have hope and get it all out, but I can’t. Why not? Scream, get mad, he tells her. She can’t, it’s not the right time. Your husband is here, he says, if you can’t do it around me, then who? I have the power to kiss you until you talk. Don’t try me. She smiles shyly. Then she gets annoyed, I’m mad and I can’t tell you why. He picks her up. She struggles a bit. Put me down. He will, but in the water. Will he throw her in?
No. They stand in the shallows. She tells him this connection to the land works. It’s been a long time since I’ve seen you so calm. I should bring you here more often. You are my land, he says. A little kiss on the cheek. She says time to go back. He would rather stay but… They go.
Azize thinks about Rey and Mir refusing her new marriage proposal. She thinks about Aslan’s Reyyan wall. HAG says to herself, if your decision is to remain together, my only job is to pave the way. Only then will this war end for good. Azize leaves the konak.
Gonul is watching grannie from her window. She’s very upset. You won’t give in, grandma? Well neither will I. I won’t let you stop me from being with Miran. We can finally be happy.
Miran drops Reyyan off. Before she goes in he tells her, the first time I saw you, you were with your mother. I’ve loved you ever since. I couldn’t admit it. I thought we didn’t have a future together. But we do, Rey says, you made me believe that. I’ve never given up. I might give up on myself, she says, but I could never give up on you. He pulls her into a kiss on the lips.
They gaze at each other for a moment and then she walks away. He hopes she will turn and look at him just once before she turns the corner, but no. He takes a few steps. We see Rey turn and look at the corner… and there’s Miran right on the spot! My heart beats for you alone, she says. Not a moment exists in which I’m not thinking of you, he says. Then they go their separate ways.
Miran flips the switch and he’s off to find out about Aslan.
Azat is working at the hotel and Gonul comes to see him. [oh, yeah, these two will be a couple.] She asks him, I want to know who the man is that saved your life. Who is Aslan? Why do you care, he asks? Don’t claim he works for the Sadoglu…. She interrupts, it’s the opposite. I suspect he works for my grandmother. And there’s more, she says. We see Yaren and Harun arrive, and they notice the conversation happening. They listen in.
Azat wants to know where Gonul got the idea that Aslan and Reyyan have something. I asked Aslan, she replies. I saw in his eyes what he tries to hide. Azat figures it out. She wants to make it look like there is something between Aslan and Reyyan in order to get Miran back. Azat says she is as dangerous as her grannie.
Azat gets up from the table and Yaren reveals her presence. Look who it is, the craziest Aslanbey of them all. Poor thing, inspiring pity, begging for help because Miran divorced Reyyan and still hasn’t given up on her. What happened, loca? Your Aslan-Reyyan plan didn’t work, and you want to fool my brother? Azat tries to shut his sister up.
Gonul says Yaren is wrong. Yaren asks, then why are you here? The man who saved Azat’s life could be working for my grandmother, Gonul replies. Harun is taking all this in. Gonul says she came to warn Azat. Azat says if Aslan was working for Azize, he wouldn’t be alive right now. Didn’t you think of that, he asks Gonul. Azat walks away.
Gonul tries to walk but Yaren isn’t done with her. Well done, loca, Yaren hisses. I must admit I admire you for once. It’s a pity that you’d betray your grandmother just to get Miran. [yes, and Yaren wanted to betray her entire family for the same reason!] Yaren laughs. It doesn’t matter, who’s who, she tells Gonul. You should take care of Aslan if you want to split up Miran and Reyyan. You’d make a good couple with Aslan. Harun angrily grabs Yaren away, That’s enough! Leave her alone.
Gonul gets her licks in, I’m not interested in a loser that lives in a barn with sheep. Yaren fires back, by the way, if you plan on stabbing yourself and blaming Reyyan for it, that’s your business. But if you keep chasing Miran like the groveling fool you are, you will have to get better at it. Yaren moves in and puts this into Gonul’s ear: as long as Reyyan still draws breath, Miran won’t have eyes for anyone else. Gonul walks. Harun puts his head down. Yaren is proud of her work.
Harun brings Hanife to meet her nephew. She is overcome with emotion. He looks genuinely happy to see her, but we know he wants info. He sets her up. You’ve experienced pain and suffering, he tells her, all those years serving the enemy. Despite that, you’ve held up. Hanife affirms that. But it’s going to end, she says, won’t it? Because you are here with me. She hugs him.
He nods, I’m with you… but who are you with, he replies. I know you helped grandma to meet with Reyyan today, but you didn’t tell us. Why? Hanife stutters, I… I… Reyyan went of her own will. I didn’t get the chance to tell you. Aslan has other questions. How old was Hazar when grandma placed you in that house? He was a child who still hadn’t met Dilsah, right? There was no friction between the families. But you said your sister put you in that mansion for revenge. What revenge?
These questions are worrisome for Hanife. My sister… never explains her plans to me. I only do what she tells me. Aslan snarks, everyone should have a sister like you. One who sacrifices. What does my grandma do for you in return? Example, when Miran shot Azat, she removed her family, including Asiye, out of harm’s way. What about you, he asks? She didn’t send anyone for you. You didn’t even know, right? Hanife sighs in distress at the thought.
Aslan continues, there are two categories of people. They are either victims of my grandma or her followers. Don’t misunderstand, he tells her, I’m not threatening you. But you have to decide who to be loyal to. Know that even if you aren’t with me, I will hold no ill will. I know what you have been through.
Weepy Hanife asks, you’re not mad at me? How can I be when you are a victim of my grandmother just like me, he says. Go, think about it, and decide whose side you are on. And when you are ready, tell Harun, he will bring you to me. Hanife hugs Aslan, then goes. Harun fills Aslan in on what Gonul said at the hotel. Mahfuz listens intently. Your sister is using you to get back at your grandmother, Harun says, and Yaren overheard, too. Gonul was very hurt. Aslan says he will handle it somehow.
Aslan tells Mahfuz he will drop him at home and then go visit Azize.
Azize visits Sukran. And interrupts Sukran talking about her mysterious “visitor”. Who are you expecting, Azize asks? Startled Sukran replies, not you. What are you doing here? Azize hasn’t come to fight. She is here to agree with Sukran. It was a mistake to separate Miran and Reyyan.
Loneliness is difficult at our age, isn’t it, Azize asks? For your good and Miran’s good, come back to the mansion. There looks like there are burnt rugs out on the entrance. A flashback to Sukran watching the dark figure in the doorway and knocking over a small grill with a teapot on to the floor. End flash. Sukran thinks to herself, was that Dilsah? Did Azize send her?
Azize continues, I’ve renounced my revenge. Let’s join forces and get ReyMir back together before it’s to late. Do it for our grandson. Think about it. When you choose to come back, Mahmut will come for you. Azize leaves, satisfied in thinking Sukran will return to the konak because Miran is her weak spot.
Sukran thinks about the mysterious figure. She calls herself stupid for believing it was Dilsah. She thinks Azize sent some woman to scare her into returning to the mansion. The dead don’t resurrect, she says. [Unless they aren’t dead. I’m sticking with Dilsah is alive] Sukran thinks, I’ll return but not because you want, I’ll return to destroy you and fix the damage you caused my children.
Miran easily breaks into Aslan’s house with a credit card?! He goes into the study and rifles through drawers. He notices the note pad. Miran continues his search and sees the crumpled notes on the floor. [my advice to Aslan, invest in a paper shredder]
Miran uncrumples the notes, reads them and places them on the table. “If you want to reveal the truth, remain close to Nasuh Sadoglu.” “Nasuh Sadoglu is Mehmet Aslanbey’s killer. You should be close to them and reveal the truth.” Miran’s eyes bug. He starts to huff and puff.
He pulls a note out of his wallet and compares it to the ones he’s found. A perfect match, he says, all written by the same person. [Not clear if he’s making the connection to Aslan] Miran gathers the notes and stuffs them in his pocket. He focuses on one “Nasuh Sadoglu is Mehmet Aslanbey’s killer. Stay close if you want the truth”. Miran narrowly escapes being caught by Mahfuz.
Hazar wanders the street thinking about the convo with Ayla. Ayla: “she lost the baby before marrying Mehmet.” Zehra: “I saw the letter with my own eyes, it said Miran was Hazar’s son. Azize doubled over, if Miran isn’t Hazar’s son, why did she react that way?” He thinks about that night with Dilsah, there was something she had to tell him. “Miran…” and then Mehmet and the gunshots.
Hazar cries, you were going to tell me something, Dilsah. What were you going to tell me? Could it be? is it possible that Ayla lied? [yes!] Could Miran really be our son?
Sultana and Cihan meet. Sultana tells him she couldn’t find out what he wanted but asks if he knew Azize wants Miran and Reyyan to remarry? He doesn’t care about that. He wants the 411 on Aslan. She plays dumb. Aslan? The man who saved Azat? I know as much as anyone else. I have no idea, she says. Cihan threatens her to find out his connection to Azize. That’s gonna be very difficult, she replies. Not my problem, Cihan tells her. Secrets come to light, for example, you let your husband die. I found out and your daughter or Azize could find out.
Zehra goes to her daughter’s room. Reyyan starts to ask, today… with grandpa…. Where did you go? Zehra apologizes for leaving her behind. Forgive me for everything. Don’t blame yourself and don’t blame dad, Rey tells her. We didn’t tell you about the divorce because you are pregnant. Zehra says she spoke to Hazar. He told her she wasn’t divorced and that she is pregnant. Reyyan comes clean with her mom about the fake divorce and pregnancy. She did it to buy time.
Zehra isn’t upset. You’ll never be apart from Miran again, she says. We will find a way. Zehra tells Rey she knows that Rey knows Hazar isn’t her bio dad. I couldn’t tell you. Rey doesn’t care to hear anymore about it.
Zehra wants her to know. She starts, I thought I was in love. I thought he loved me, too. After I got pregnant… we get the flashback. Zehra tells Mahfuz they are having a baby. He doesn’t want a baby, he doesn't want to get married. He’s not ready. We are very young, he tells her, I want to live my life and I don’t want the responsibility of a family. Besides his family doesn’t approve of them being together. He says he knows a doctor and he will take her. She slaps him and rips off a necklace and throws it to the ground. I won’t kill my child, she says, but you are dead to me now. End flash.
Rey asks, is that why my grandma doesn’t speak to you? Hazar walks by Rey’s door and hears Zehra answer, she didn’t want me to have you, but I couldn't do it. At that moment, Hazar appeared. He was a friend of my brother. My brother took care of us, but then he died. Before he died, he entrusted us to Hazar. You know the rest. We were happy and you loved him (Hazar) so much that we didn’t dare tell you. I’m sorry.
Zehra adds she never saw Rey’s father again after that day. She doesn’t know if he’s dead or alive. Zehra is about to say his name but Rey interrupts, she doesn’t want to hear about the man who didn’t love us. I have one father, and his name is Hazar Sadoglu. The rest doesn’t matter. Zehra returns Rey’s phone and Melike’s phone. You don’t need permission to call Miran.
Miran brought me here to be with you, Zehra says. Rey replies, he had no right. What if something happened to you or the baby? Zehra says Miran did the right thing. Don’t be mad at him. Don’t waste your moments by being upset with him. Rey says the hostilities between the families hurt them both. No matter what they do, something bad always happens. But she will stay with Miran and never stop searching for the truth. She has Zehra’s support. They hug. Hazar has heard it all.
Hanife calls Azize. She says she visited their siblings’ graves to pray for them and she prayed for Azize as well. Azize questions, the anniversary of the fire is not for another 5 days. Hanife replies that Zehra is back and about to give birth. She was afraid she wouldn’t be able to go afterward. Hanife asks, did you think about me… when you were on your way to meet Death? Azize is silent. Hanife says, I heard that the night Azat was hurt, you confronted the enemy. Were you going to leave me to die in the enemy’s hands?
You are blood of my blood, Hanife, Azize answers, how could I do that? Mahmut was going to pick you up and reunite you with Sultana and Gonul. That seems to be news to Mahmut! Azize adds, nothing would have been possible without your help. You’ve dedicated your life to our family. Thanks to you, our siblings can rest in peace. One day you will have what you deserve. Hanife looks devastated and tries not to cry. She makes an excuse to get off the phone. Then she cries realizing her sister would have left her behind.
Rey meets Aslan and he shows her notes he “received”. She thinks, the same person is writing the notes. This person knows dad is innocent. Aslan wishfully thinks, share the notes you received with me, Reyyan. Rey thinks, I can’t tell him about the notes without first talking to Miran. Aslan tells her there is another note you should see. “if you want to discover the truth, stay close to Nasuh Sadoglu. He is hiding and important secret and it will bring Miran and Reyyan close.”
Rey wonders what her grandfather could be hiding. Aslan says Rey won’t believe him, but he has to follow these notes if he is to find his family. He tells Rey he didn’t mean to bother her with this. He gathers his notes and turns to go. She calls him back. I believe the notes, she says.
Miran is speeding off somewhere with a note in hand.
Aslan asks Rey if the same person sent her notes, too. Rey says she doesn’t understand what is going on. What does this have to do with you? What do we have to do with your family? All Aslan knows is he was directed to the Sadoglus and asked to protect her and Miran. Rey says the notes are leading them to the truth. There’s a secret in the past we don’t know. Whoever wrote the notes doesn’t know either. But I believe these notes will reunite me and Miran, she says.
Aslan asks how can he get closer to Nasuh without drawing attention? He can’t get closer to Azat. Rey is willing to help. Show me the other notes, she says. Aslan has an idea: let’s get engaged.
I think Miran is trying to call Reyyan and there’s no answer. He’s working up a head of steam. Did this idiot tell you this? Is that why you are behaving like this towards me? I’m going to lose my mind. [there are too many notes floating around to keep track of]
How dare you, Rey tells Aslan. You can’t ask something like that from me! I am Miran’s wife. We might be divorced on paper, but our commitment and love remain. That won’t change until we leave this world, understand? He apologizes and she says she should go. He stops her. Never say this again, she warns him, don’t even think about it. She walks he calls out, you’re right, it’s too high a price to pay to prove your father’s innocence. She keeps walking.
Cihan and Hazar talk. Hazar asks if Cihan has talked to their father. Cihan tried calling. No answer. He texted he’s staying in Derik for a few days. Cihan has no idea why. He asks Hazar if there is a problem. Hazar says he’s just very tired. Did you fight with Zehra, Cihan asks? No.
Hazar thinks back to hearing Dilsah on the recording. You kept quiet to protect me, he says to absent Dilsah. I couldn’t protect you or our baby. Nothing has changed. I can’t protect your son or my daughter. If I could just remember what happened that night….
Rey returns to her room and finds Miran waiting there. We must speak, he tells her. She panics that they will get caught. She says fine if they have to talk, but not here. She will meet him down the street.
Aslan is waiting for Harun’s call on Hanife’s decision. Mahfuz says maybe she’s decided she is not on your side. How would you know the truth? Aslan says there’s more than one path to the truth.
Harun calls, Hanife wants to speak. Hanife tells Aslan he was right. Azize didn’t even think of her when she was about to die. So she’s joining Aslan. Maybe it is not a coincidence that our paths crossed on the anniversary of the fire, she tells him. What fire, he asks? I’ll tell you, she says, I’ll tell you everything. Aslan promises to take care of her and asks her to hand the phone to Harun.
Aslan directs Harun to take Hanife to the monastery road after everyone is asleep. Aslan tells Mahfuz that Azize Aslanbey just lost her key piece. Have we reached the end, Mahfuz asks? We have, Aslan replies.
Rey meets Miran. He goes to hug her, and she pushes him away. I don’t have much time she says. I’ll be brief and then go. What does this mean, Miran asks? How many times must I tell you to stay away from me and my family? What right did you have to bring my mother here? He’s at a loss. He admits it might have been a bit selfish to bring Zehra. Maybe, Rey asks, what if something happened to the baby? He doesn’t understand why she is acting this way. She continues, we are divorced. I divorced you in court. It’s over. [I think he might have caught on to what she’s trying to do]
It’s over, he asks, is that your final decision? So we’re divorced and that’s that? Yes, that’s right, Rey responds. Get out and never come back. He raises his voice, you’re going to leave without giving me a second chance? Are you serious? Rey says, our paths diverged on the night your parents died. We can’t change fate and I can’t keep putting my family through this. It’s over for good.
Rey walks and he pulls her back. Why didn’t you say this in court? Why are you telling me this now? Why did you wait until now, he asks?
We see a flashback as Reyyan is leaving her room, Cihan barges in looking for Miran with Handan standing by the door. Handan says, as if he isn’t waiting for you on the other street. Cihan asks, was Miran here? Rey stays silent. Cihan is furious. I swear I will kill that infeliz! Were you going to see him? End flashback.
Miran looks around and shouts, answer me Reyyan! Why? I thought you would understand, she says. I told you to stay away from a woman that divorced you and doesn’t want to see you. Is it clear? Don’t come back, I don’t want to see you, Miran. I understand, he tells her, as you wish. He drives away.
Cihan comes from around the corner. He puts a gun back in his waistband. Rey says, you believe me now, uncle? I’m telling the truth when I say I’m protecting my family. Now go confront those who have secrets in this house.
Cihan asks, what does that mean? Ask grandpa, she replies. What should I ask, he responds. About that night, Rey says. We are going through this because of that night, not because of something I did. Dad doesn’t remember, but what about grandpa? Are you sure he wasn’t at the crime scene that night? Cihan says are you accusing your grandfather? She’s not accusing him, but she knows he’s hiding a secret. Cihan flashes on Nasuh saying he shot Mehmet.
Miran has returned to watch and listen. Cihan assures Rey that no one in the family has secrets. Did Miran put this in your head? Rey says, Miran doesn’t know anything, but I do. Whatever the truth is, I will reveal it soon. You have my word. Reyyan walks.
Miran says, it was Cihan that made forced you to say those things to me. Miran takes out a note and says, only one person knows that secret, Reyyan. And I’m going to confront him.
Miran calls Aslan. Mahfuz has his ear to the door. Miran shouts, where are you? Tell me. Aslan asks what happened? Miran replies they have unfinished business. Aslan asks for time and place. Miran says, I’ll meet you in the valley. End call.
Aslan says, now it’s your turn, Miran. I’ll take care of this just like I’ll take care of Azize. Mahfuz hears.
And we are out.
MANY thanks, dondi356, for another spectacular recap of another head-spinning episode.
I don't have a lot to say. When Hazar told Zehra "My head is a disaster right now," I almost said aloud, "Mine too!"
One thing I've commented on before became even more evident in last night's episode. In some ways, Aslan is amazingly astute, but for a man who is concerned about secrets and security, it's astonishing that he has next to no security for his house. At least Mahmoud had to force the lock with a knife or other sharp object, but all Miran had to do is stick his credit card in to push the lock open. Geez! Aslan already knew that the lock was useless--Azize got in easily enough and discovered his Reyyan Room. But he nonetheless did nothing to add security. He might as well have left the door wide open and a "Welcome All" mat.
And then, of course, there are the notes. Does Aslan think to hide the very distinctive pad he uses for the notes? Of course not! And does he carefully pick up and destroy all the notes he has crumpled up? I very much enjoyed and agreed with your comment: "[my advice to Aslan, invest in a paper shredder]," and, I would add, a first-rate locksmith.
Question: does Aslan know that Nasuh killed Mehmet Aslanbey? I rather doubt it. How would he know? But if he doesn't know, why does he write a note saying that Nasuh killed Mehmet?
I suspected all along that Ayla was lying to Hazar and Zehra, and that she was doing so because she had been threatened by Azize, just as the jeweler who made the ring for Hazar had been threatened, and I think one or more others as well. At least Hazar asks himself whether Ayla had lied. I hope he receives the correct response.
Hazar is berating himself for still being unable to remember what happened the night that he, Dilsah, and Mehmet were shot. I vaguely recall a conversation relatively early in Season 1 between Nasuh and his buddy Yusuf. I think Yusuf warns of how messy things would be if/when Hazar does manage to remember. I'm now wondering whether Nasuh could possibly have shot both Mehmet and Dilsah. Nasuh certainly had turned a deaf ear to Dilsah's earlier pleas for help. Could he have shot her to prevent her telling Hazar about this?
Once again, the more pieces of the puzzle fall into place, the more confusing things seem to become. I must say, I am enjoying this confusion more than watching Miran the Bull snorting and growling, or professing for the umpteenth time his undying love. Though even that will be more tolerable in one-hour segments rather than two.
Dondi, thank you for a great recap of all the lying, crying, and trying.Love your writing style . I feel like I am reading a novel. At this point, I dont know who knows what .
It was fun watching Yaren harass Gonul . ha. They both want the unattainable Mir who is totally devoted to Rey . Vicious Yaren enjoys going after people . I also enjoyed Gonul bringing up the barnyard . haha We can add "meow meow " to " yip yip yip" and " bow wow wow."
We discover that Rey's biodad was not a good guy unless Zehra is lying.
I always worry about Goodgran falling off those high, scary stairs. Yikes . I suppose the visiting figure in black was either Dilsuh or Kim Kardashian. It would be a great twist if it was Kim.
I would like the real killer of Dilsuh and Mehmet to be a big surprise ...maybe Add or Kim , but I don't think it will be.
Wonderful detailed recap dondi356! Beautifully written as if you’ve directed each scene yourself! Right now though, this dizi is all over the place, making me “ dizzy” for sure! Each character has got their own “plot” going on and it’s causing a confusing collision of sorts. Azize doesn’t want Reyyan and Miran together——then she does, Aslan wants revenge on Azize, wants revenge on Miran——or so it seems, and just wants Reyyan period. I don’t understand what the heck his plan is, if he really has one at all, or is he making it up as he goes along like those lies that slide of his tongue like butter. Is Mahfouz really with Aslan? Or not? Who the hell is Hanife really loyal too? Why did Ayla lie? Does Azize have something on everybody in Midyat? Who was the mysterious floating dressed in black specter that appeared before Sukran? Why is Gonul such an angry fool, and what exactly is her plan to “stop” Azize from whatever it is she say’s that Azize is doing——but she’s not going to let her? Reymir doesn’t really seem to have a plan either——- except to not let anyone tear them apart——- although they’re doing a good job of that themselves. How did Zehra “save” her daughter? Or did she and I missed it? What’s Zehra’s plan? Does she have one? And what of the previous “Hardazz Harun?” He’s turned completely into Mr. Wimpy where Yaren is concerned, and just does whatever Aslan says. And to top it all off, “onion man” is back and seems to be as dazed and confused as ever!
I’m LOST!
But I do love your recap! Thanks again dondi356! Much appreciated!
Thanks so much, dondi, for another really fine and complete recap. It helped clear up a couple of "Huh?" moments I had.
I wish I knew which scenes to FF>>. This won't be so much of a problem next week. That whole planting the flowers by the river and sappy, syrupy dialog didn't do a thing for me. They could have cut that one instead of the amazing one where Miran first sees Reyyan at the museum and, IIRC, you, dondi, may have put up a link for. Miran even alluded to first seeing her with her mother and people not privy to the full Turkish episode would have also been saying "Huh?"
Loved Aslan needing to invest in a paper shredder.
Talk about delayed gratification! Miran shows up with the notes that reveal Aslan as the Note Master, but Cihan spoils the fun by apparently threatening to shoot Miran. And Rey doesn't get to find out this key bit of information.
So...we're back to references to a fire. Hanife mentions hermanos dying in that fire. I so remember my wonderful Spanish teacher (female) lamenting that Spanish always uses the masculine noun or pronoun; if there are 25 women in a room and one man, it's still ellos. Her son is now teaching the same Advanced Spanish class. So, it seems like a brother of Hanife and Azize also died. I'm still leaning toward Ayse dying in the fire and Azize escaping with a burned back.
This plot gets insane. Azize is willing to have Miran and Reyyan re-marry (not knowing there was no divorce) to get Aslan to leave. And this is because she saw those hidden photos of Rey. I still can't even see why Aslan is at risk if ANYONE kills Hazar. But, of course, the whole thing is not just for Hazar to die. She could get Mahmoud to do that any day of the week. But it has to be Miran and then she tells Miran he killed his own father.
Thanks for putting in Aslan suggesting they get engaged. I didn't hear that. It seemed like there was a quick jump to Rey chewing him out about something he'd suggested.
Forgot something I meant to write. If that is Dilsuh visiting her mother and alive, why has she waited 29 years to do so and why wouldn't she identify herself?
Kerim doesn’t want to go home, he wants to stay with Fatma in the hospital, but visiting is over and she is the only one who can stay. He says goodbye reluctantly and gives her a little kiss on the cheek with no complaint from Fatma. Muka is watching from her bed.
Erdo is plotting with Yasar. He wants to speak with Fatma face to face. No one can be around.
Fatma is at her doctor’s appointment. She tells her, I thought I’d be free from fears because I was away from the house. It was strangely comfortable. Kerim’s presence gave me peace. The therapist says, but you were scared the night he drank. Yes. [Turkish] I thought he’d be angry again. The smell of alcohol reminds me of that night in Ildir. It makes me feel sick. I locked the door that night and then I regretted it the next day because Kerim realized why I locked it.
Is that why you wanted to be closer to him the next day, therapist asks? You told him your feelings. You let him come close to you and kiss you. Was that because you felt guilty about the previous night? Fatma takes a second then answers, I love Kerim. I want us to be a normal couple. I don’t want to think about anything else. I said, “this is Kerim, the person you love”. But them, the others, appear in my mind saying, “we are here, and we will never leave”. Even when I’m happy, they don’t leave me alone. Was Kerim in your dream, too, the therapist asks? Yes. Fatma is sad.
Change of subject. The therapist asks about the baby. You must all be happy. I can’t think of anything else since she arrived. Her presence brightens everything. It’s amazing how such a small thing can bring so much happiness. (We see the baby coming home.) My yenge can’t even annoy me anymore. (We see Fatma helping Muka.) She stopped annoying me since the baby has come. When I hold her, the world becomes kinder and warmer. (We see Kerim watching Fatma with the baby and he’s smiling) I want this to last forever.
The therapist says, imagine if she was your own. I wonder how much I’d love it if she were mine. I raised Murat, too, Fatma says. But I was still a girl. Now I will raise Elif, for sure. Of course, it would be different if it was my child. I wonder how it feels to be a mother. It would be great to have a baby that is mine. Of course, I want to have my own baby one day. Therapist says, but that would also be Kerim’s baby. Fatma says, yes, I’d love to be able to have a baby with Kerim.
Kerim shows up at Rose Kitchen. “Kolay gelsin” (may it come easy, a typical greeting for someone who is working), he tells Meryem. She replies, that is easy to say, but we have many orders. She sends Mehmet out with deliveries. Kerim asks where is Fatma? Her doctor’s appointment. Kerim asks if Rahmi went with her. No, he’s with Muka at home. Murat misbehaved in school and he had leave to take him home.
Kerim is alarmed. Why didn’t she call me? Why did she go alone? You had a job interview. How was she going to call you? How did the interview go? Kerim says he got the job. It’s only temporary, but it’s good money. Kerim tries calling Fatma but her phone is off. She has just finished her session and leaves the office.
We see Erdo and Yasar sitting in a car. Erdo’s nervous. He looks around for reporters. We can’t take any risks. Fatma leaves the building and Erdo spots her. I finally have you, Famagul Hanım. Erdo exits the car and begins trailing her.
Kadir calls Rose Kitchen. Ah, Meryem says, thanks for informing us. I’ll tell them, don’t worry. Have a good trip and have fun. Kerim asks where is he going? He’s left the seminar and is going to Antalya for a few days with his friends. He’s waiting for his flight. I think Kerim notices Meryem isn’t happy about this.
Meryem comments that Kadir has been in the clouds these last days, he doesn’t need a plane. Kerim doesn’t get it. Meryem asks him if he wants more tea. No, he wants to pick up Fatma. She must be done with her session by now.
Fatma calls Kerim. She saw he called. Her phone was off. He asks why she went alone. We know why. She asks about his job interview. We know he got the job. He tells her he will come to pick her up but she says it’s not necessary, she’s almost at the bus stop. He tells her to take a taxi and she says she will. She heads down some stairs into a short, enclosed underpass.
She hangs up and she hears someone call her name. It’s Erdo. He says, wait, I’m not going to hurt you.
They cut a short rewind: Yasar and Mustafa are also trailing Fatma. Musto starts to go after her, but Yasar says to wait. Let her meet the big bad wolf first, then you can play hero. Don’t mess up. Resat won’t tolerate any more mistakes. We see Fatma go down the steps and end her call with Kerim. Erdo calls her and says wait, I’m not going to hurt you. We are back in the show.
I just happened to see you on the street, and I wanted to talk to you, he tells her. She says nothing and turns to walk. Musto closes in. Erdo follows her, you have to drop the charges. Get away from me, she says and quickens her pace. Tell everyone you lied, he says. He grabs her arm and she screams and struggles. I want you to look at me and tell me you will withdraw the charges against us!
All of a sudden, out of nowhere, Erdo is bashed a few times on the head with a shovel. It’s Rahmi! Fatma has to stop him from killing Erdo. Musto missed his chance to intervene but now he’s a witness to Rahmi’s attack. Fatma screams, what did you do, Rahmi?! Musto runs off. She is hysterical. How could you do this?! Is he dead? Rahmi says, but he attacked you. Fatma calls an ambulance.
Cut: Musto calls Resat to tell him Rahmi attacked Erdo. He might have killed him. He got there before I could and hit him with a shovel. I ran so Fatma wouldn’t see me. Resat keeps this a secret. Later, he asks Selim to call Erdo to find out where he is.
Cut: Kerim is arranging something in the truck outside the restaurant. Meryem is surprised to find him there. He says Fatma was going to take a cab. His phone rings, it’s Fatma. Kerim, something terrible happened. We see people standing around the scene and Rahmi is still holding the shovel. Rahmi explains to them, I did it. He attacked my sister and I hit him. Fatma tells Kerim, my brother might have killed Erdogan! Kerim is stunned. End cut.
Cut: Fatma calls Muka. We don’t hear what she says but Muka’s face drops.
The ambulance arrives at the hospital. Fatma and Rahmi arrive behind them in a taxi. Rahmi keeps saying he did it because his sister was attacked. Fatma tells him to be quiet. Meryem and Kerim are on their way. Kerim calls Omer. He explains that Kadir is on his way to Antalya, his phone is off. Please come, it’s urgent. We don’t know anything yet. Kerim tells Meryem Omer is on his way back from Izmir and is almost here.
The police talk to Rahmi and Fatma. He says he was afraid his sister would be hurt again. I protected her. We are in a court case with them. The cop knows about it he asks, what did you hit him with? Fatma interjects, he (Erdo) forced me to drop the charges.
Selim’s call comes through on Erdo’s phone and a cop answers. What? Who did it? Resat plays dumb, what happened? Selim says, Rahmi attacked Erdo, he’s in critical condition.
Kerim and Meryem arrive at the hospital. The cops are taking Rahmi. Rahmi keeps repeating he protected his sister.
Cut: Fatma explains what happened to Kerim and Meryem. Muka worries at home and calls Mehmet at the restaurant. She shouts at him to close the place and come to her house asap.
The Yasarans head to the hospital. Munir wonders what Erdo did to get attacked. Resat says that this must have been planned. Selim worries, if Erdo dies, is he next.
Mehmet shows up with Murat and Muka tells him Elif is fed and changed and will sleep for a few hours. She will be back soon.
Resat asks about Erdo’s condition. The doctor says they will know more after running some tests.
Yasar shows up at the hospital and Munir asks how he found out about this. Yasar says he was with Erdo and when he didn’t come back, he went to look for him and saw the ambulance. Munir asks where is Rahmi? At the police station. Munir heads there.
Rahmi is being questioned. Meryem and Omer are with him. The cop says Fatma has no signs of being hit and you came from behind and attacked the man. It’s not self defense. Rahmi gets confused all he knows is he hit Erdo to save Fatmagul. Omer wants to speak with Rahmi alone.
Cut: Fatma gives her statement. Kerim is with her. He gets upset and interrupts a few times and has to be warned to keep his mouth shut.
Kadir calls Meryem. He’s in a car with his friends. Did you call me, he asks? Yes. Meryem is about to tell him when she hears a woman’s laughter. She says she just wanted to check in to see if he had a good flight. Kadir says everything is fine and he’s having fun with his friends. The friends hear him mention Meryem’s name and they shush to listen. Kadir says he will be back tomorrow afternoon. Meryem doesn’t tell him about Rahmi.
Cut: Kadir’s friend, Humeyra, says let me look at you to see if you’re blushing. Another woman doesn’t understand. Humeyra explains that Kadir didn’t come for us. Kadir asks her to keep quiet. Humeyra explains that Kadir is here to see his ex-in laws and he will mention Meryem Hanım to them. Kadir is embarrassed. He’s sorry he told Humeyra anything.
A cop tells the doctor that he needs a statement from Erdo. The doctor says Erdo can’t be questioned now. The cop also says that Fatmagul filed a complaint against Erdo. Resat plays that up, they are guilty and shameless. The cops says this is important since it has connections to the other case.
Hilmiye arrives. The doctor tells her Erdo has a fractured skull. They don’t know yet if he will need surgery. Resat, Hilmiye and Selim go in to see Erdo. He regains consciousness and Resat begins to question him. What did you do? Tell me what happened. Erdo says he was hit with a shovel. He wanted to kill me. Hilmiye comforts her son.
Resat tells Hilmiye to leave this to him. Resat asks Erdo, did you confront Fatmagul? That’s what you did, right? Because if that’s what you did, we are lost. Resat tells Erdo to keep his eyes closed for now. Don’t open them. And he says they will have Erdo transferred to another hospital. They will be able to get the medical reports they want.
Cut: Muka arrives at the station the same time as Munir. They argue outside the building. Muka comes in and blames Fatma for making her brother into a killer. We are a family of killers thanks to you, she says. Kerim tells her to shut up and Muka turns on him. She turns back to Fatma, I know what I’ll do to you if anything happens to Rahmi.
Omer tells the family that this is serious. Rahmi said that he deliberately hit Erdo. He said he wanted to kill him. Erdo’s condition hasn’t improved. If he dies, Rahmi will be tried for intentional murder, and he could get a heavy sentence.
Resat tells Peri what happened and that they intend to transfer Erdo to “their hospital”. Resat speaks deliberately because there are cops nearby. They set an ambush for him and attacked him in an isolated area. They tried to kill him. Peri wonders if the press is there because Resat is making such a big deal. Musto shows up and Resat has to hang up.
Resat is ticked that Musto showed up. Musto says he’s worried about Erdo. Resat blames him for what went wrong. Musto says he didn’t do anything different than planned. I waited until Erdo got to Fatma. Selim eavesdrops on this. It was supposed to be me who saved Fatma, Musto says. Resat says he was supposed to gain Fatma’s trust, so that she would speak against Erdo. Was that too difficult?
Musto says Rahmi suddenly appeared. How was I supposed to know he would arrive? Resat asks how did it happen? I didn’t see the whole thing, Musto replies. I saw Erdo on the ground. I fled so Fatma wouldn’t see me, and I immediately called you. Musto asks if Erdo is still critical. Yep. [Turkish] Musto says, like you, I don’t have any pity for him. I’m only sorry about Rahmi Abi. Resat tells Musto to get lost before anyone sees him.
Selim makes himself known and that he heard everything. You put Mustafa on Erdo’s tail? You knew what happened? Why? Resat says, I did it for you! Understand? That idiot (Rahmi) ruined everything. If he didn’t intervene, we would have been negotiating with Fatma. We would have had her blame only Erdo and that would save you and me.
Musto leaves the hospital and catches the eye of a man outside. He notices another sitting in a car. Don’t know if it’s anything important or Musto is just being paranoid. The man in the car drives off after Musto does. He’s being followed.
A cop gets an update on Erdo’s condition with Omer, Rahmi and Munir present. Still critical. Fractured skull, small bleed in the brain. He’s being transferred to private hospital for surgery. Cut: another cop comes in to report that there were no cameras at the scene of the crime. Good news for Munir, not so good for Rahmi.
Meryem thinks Muka should go home. She doesn’t want to leave Rahmi. The cops take Rahmi to the prosecutor. Omer says he will be remanded after a few more procedures. Munir says he will stand trial as soon as possible and he will do his best to make sure Rahmi rots in prison. Kerim answers, it’s clear who is the guilty one. Munir continues, you all planned this. You deliberately chose a place where there were no cameras.
Kerim turns it around, it was your plan! Erdo caught Fatma where no one could see him. Munir replies and when he trapped her? Fatma can’t listen. Kerim goes after Munir. Omer and Meryem hold him back. Munir laughs. Was there a sign of a fight? No. Were there other witnesses? No. Erdogan is fighting for his life and you are accusing him? Munir adds, ask your lawyer, he will tell you this could be first degree murder. He tells Muka to pray that Erdo recovers or her husband will rot in prison.
Cut: Musto tells Hacer. He says they got exactly what they wanted. The two families are at each other again. This time Fatma’s family are the guilty ones. Hacer wonders about Erdo’s part. Musto says he will say he was just passing by. How can that be disproved? Musto worries about Resat giving him over to the police.
Hacer asks him if he’s going to leave. Halide is trying to listen as she prepares dinner. Musto says he wants to get out of this mess, and he will take Hacer with him as soon as he can. Hacer notices Halide lurking and says she’s getting suspicious.
Hacer leaves the room and Halide comes over to her son. Was she complaining about me? You’ve been whispering since you came home. Musto says it has nothing to do with you. Halide says she will leave if that’s what they want. Musto is frustrated. End cut.
Cut: Rahmi is led from the station in cuffs. The family follows. Rahmi tells Muka to take care of his children. Meryem says not to give up and Omer agrees. Fatma doesn’t like seeing Rahmi cuffed. Kerim says it is his fault for letting Fatma go alone. Muka shouts, it’s easy to say this now, but would you have the guts to do what Rahmi did? Or would you stand and watch like you did before? Kerim turns on Muka but Meryem pleads, don’t listen to her. Meryem fires back at Muka, you’ve crossed the line. You’re not the only one suffering here. Don’t hurt us even more. Fatma cries.
The police drive off with Rahmi and Muka moans she’s left all alone with a little baby at home. Meryem says she will take Muka home and Omer says Fatma and Kerim can come with him to the prosecutor.
Muka has to get her last licks in. She barks at Fatma, look at me, we have suffered a lot since we came to Istanbul. It’s all your fault. All because of you. [Turkish] This is what happens when you don’t listen to my words. You see, it’s my children who will suffer because of you.
Meryem tries to get Muka away. Muka continues, I wish they took your husband instead of mine, then you would understand. I wish your husband was with you this time to actually help you! Kerim shouts that’s enough! Munir laughs at the show. Finally, everyone separates and leaves.
Cut: a colleague of Nil’s comes to her office. Geçmiş olsun, she says. Nil wonders why she said this. Didn’t you hear. Erdogan Yasaran has been brought here. Nil asks, an accident? No, he was attacked. Nil hurries out. Hilmiye calls Peri with an update. She cries, my only son. Nil asks Selim what happened. Resat tells her about the “ambush” Fatma’s family planned.
Yasarans + Nil watch as Erdo is wheeled into surgery.
Cut: the prosecutor questions Rahmi. Rahmi tries to remember. He says that Erdo hurt his sister very much. The prosecutor asks him to stick with the current facts. Was your sister beaten? Rahmi says Erdo grabbed her arm and asked her to listen. His sister called for help, he didn’t hear the rest. I was furious, I attacked him, he says. The prosecutor asks about the object used in the attack. Yes, a shovel. There was also a broom, but I took the shovel, Rahmi answers.
Sinem shows up at the prosecutor’s office. Their police reporter filled her in. Fatma worries the press will show up. Kerim says they have a court order. Sinem says that was for the other case. This is different. Fatma says it’s another nightmare. Sinem asks her what happened. Fatma doesn’t feel like talking now.
Rahmi comes out. He says the cops are bringing him to the hospital for evaluation. They want to find out if he is crazy. Omer explains that the prosecutor has noticed his particular condition and wants to find out if he is fit to stand trial. Then it will be decided if he stands trial or not.
Munir calls out, is that how you will get away with this? Don’t you know when to shut up, Kerim shoots back. Munir answers, your efforts are useless. Rahmi said he did this knowingly and willingly. Fatma just wants to leave. Munir fires a parting shot, get whatever report. You won’t escape the hands of justice. Munir asks Sinem, you’re the reporter who made Fatma famous? Have a good day, Sinem replies before she goes.
The doctor asks Rahmi, do you know why you are here? Because I hurt Erdogan Yasaran and they are going to punish me. If I am crazy, they won’t do it. You’re here to verify if I’m crazy or not.
Fatma tells Kerim [Turkish] this is what I brought upon my brother. No matter what the doctor says, it won’t make us happy. My mind is full of regrets.
Munir, who is nearby, gets a call. Tell me doctor. I understand. What?! Munir has to sit. Died? Munir is clearly very upset. Kerim goes over, did he die? Munir says it’s not what you are thinking. It’s Leman. They were taking her to Istanbul today. She jumped out the hospital window. [That’s one entire family dead because of that one night!]
Rahmi comes out. He says he’s not crazy. He’s going to trial. I don’t know if that’s good or not, but at least I’m not crazy. The cops take him.
Cut: Muka making a big show of her distress. She’s so stressed out her milk is drying up and she can’t feed her baby. Everyone is sacrificed just for one (Fatma). Kerim wants to close the door in Fatma’s room, so she doesn't have to witness Muka’s display. Fatma stops him as it will only provoke Muka. Meryem tells her not to worry.
Murat asks where his father is. Muka says he had things to do. Fatma worries about what they will tell Murat. Kerim says [Turkish] that snake Munir is making me crazy. He put your brother in jail like he said. Fatma adds, it only took him 5 minutes to get over Leman’s death. Please don’t let him (Erdo) die. My brother can’t go to jail. He’s never hurt anyone.
Kerim says, look at us. We are praying for that man. Fatma says it is for her brother. Yes, Kerim says, I wanted him to die last year. I even wanted to kill him with my own hands. But now we want him to live. How is this possible? They always find a way to pull us into trouble. I can’t stand their existence. The devil inside me wants to strangle each one of them. Fatma tells him she panics even more when she hears him talk like this. He’s sorry and sits next to her on the bed.
Cut: Muka comes in and comments. Mashallah, our girl enjoys private time while her brother is in jail. Fatma pleads, don’t do this to me. Muka says, while I am in deep sorrow, all you care about is love making. Kerim says, watch your mouth. Meryem rushes over.
Muka won’t be quiet. Your brother is in jail because of you. Murat hears this and gets up from the table. Muka continues, you destroyed my family and you don’t even care. Kerim tells her to shut up. Murat asks, is my father in jail? Fatma takes Murat away. Meryem, says now you’ve done it. Muka cries out, now it’s Mukaddes’ fault? Fatma comforts a crying Murat. End cut.
Cut: Rahmi is sitting in his bunk. The guys call him to the table for tea. No response. Is he deaf, too, one asks? Another realizes Rahmi’s condition. They call Rahmi over again. He says he’s fine, they should enjoy their tea.
The cellmates find him funny. One asks, how did you injure that man? It’s not like he couldn’t get away from you. Another asks why did they take him? He doesn’t have a criminal capacity. Rahmi objects. He says he has a criminal capacity. They laugh and tell him to swear to God. Rahmi says, why? You think I am retarded? They laugh again. Rahmi says it is you who are retarded because you are making fun of my defects! [I don’t normally use the R-word. But that was the translation from the Turkish] One of the cellmates feels bad. He tells the others to stop. He brings Rahmi a tea. This is the end of the cut.
The cellmate brings Rahmi the tea and tells him he ought to drink it and accept their apology. He pats him on the shoulder. Poor Rahmi drinks the tea even though it doesn’t taste good to him.
Resat thanks Dr. Riza for all he’s done. Riza says it all went smoothly with a minimal risk of complications. He will recover soon. Resat wants the attackers to suffer for what they did. He would like Erdo to stay in the ICU a little longer so the police won’t bother him to make a statement right away. Let’s give him some time to recover. Riza agrees.
Munir and Peri talk about Leman. Poor Leman, Peri says. [Turkish] They say she jumped out the window saying “Vural is calling me.” She went to Vural, step by step. We speeded up the process. Munir asks her to be quiet. Peri says, we are all responsible for her death. Especially you, Munir. You hurt her a lot. You never loved her. You never cared for her as she cared for you. Munir cries. [I didn’t think he had it in him] He says, you don’t know anything. I loved her a lot but I couldn't take the pressure and I distanced myself from her. All this happened when Vural found out everything.
Cut: Nil speaks with Hilmiye. Hilmiye tries to make Nil feel guilty about how she treated Erdo. Nil asks why Erdo went after the girl. Selim says to get you to believe him. He wanted to bring the girl to you and make her tell you the truth.
Fatma holds Elif with Kerim sitting near. Murat cries for his father, while Muka tries to get him to sleep. Fatma says her brother will miss out on Elif. Kerim says she looks so sweet sleeping. Very innocent, like an angel. Fatma ask Kerim if it’s cold in prison at night. He clicks his tongue, no. My brother is afraid of the dark, she says. Kerim tells her they don’t turn off the lights. Fatma thinks he’s just saying that for her sake, but he tells her it’s true. How will he sleep with strangers, she asks. Kerim says he won’t for the first few days.
Rahmi lays awake in his bunk while the others are at the table.
Little Elif fusses and Fatma asks Kerim for her binky. They place it in her mouth. Muka comes out of the room and says someone has arrived at the house. Must be Kadir, Kerim says. Muka wants Elif back. She’s not a doll. Fatma hands her over.
Kadir comes up the stairs. Omer informed him. Why didn’t you call me? Meryem says he was only going to be gone for a day, they didn’t want to bother him. He asks Kerim why he didn’t call. Kadir says he’s angry at all of them. [Turkish] Meryem says Kadir is living their lives more than his own since they’ve moved in. They are bothered about that, especially Fatma.
Muka shouts, what is more important, Fatma’s feelings or Rahmi in jail? Isn’t that true, Kadir? Answer me! What are we going to do? Tell me. Will I raise my children without a father if Erdogan dies? Kerim still has to be judged in Vural’s case. Vural is dead, so is his father, now his mother. Meltem’s father died. There is a curse on us, and we can’t escape. How do we escape?
Muka asks about bail for Rahmi. Kadir explains that they will file a counter claim. But Rahmi’s confession and Fatma being the only witness makes things difficult. If Erdo survives, and we hope he will, Rahmi will only be freed if he drops the charges.
Kadir tells Kerim that the Yasarans have the upper hand for the moment. From now on, and particularly you, we have to be very careful. You have to control your anger. Kerim says he’s learned that doesn’t work against them.
Meryem comes downstairs and finds Kadir at work, looking for a way out of this new situation. We are against the wall again, Meryem says. The Yasarans are like a curse. Change of subject and Meryem asks about Kadir’s trip. It was great, he says. I was going to bring things my ex-MIL prepared. Meryem says she had no idea they lived there. Yes, when I heard the news about Rahmi, I left right away and forgot to take them.
Meryem asks about the in-laws. They are old, but they are good, he replies. They were excited to see us. Meryem’s face drops. So you went with your friends? Yes, they know many of my friends. Kadir says this visit was important for him. They are an important part of my life. We lived through good and bad together. They lost their daughter and I lost my “yol arkadaşım” - road partner/life partner.
Kadir continues, when one falls, one doesn’t think they can get up again. How can you when you don’t have the power to stand, let alone take a path to a new life. [Turkish] but I think little by little, I am slowly gathering that courage within myself. He smiles. How nice, Meryem says.
I’m telling you because being with you is like being with family, he says. It helped me a lot. I pulled myself together. [Turkish] Now I have the courage to guide myself into a new beginning. I actually long for a new life. I can make decisions regarding my future. [Meryem looks worried this future does not include her] I wanted my in-laws to know this.
Meryem says how nice, Kadir Bey, we will support you in your decisions. Kadir says, I’ve never kept you out of my plans. Meryem says, no, you can plan your own life as you wish. It’s not like we will live here forever. Don’t worry, we don’t want to complicate your life. Kadir says she’s got that wrong. Meryem says she’s exhausted, maybe that’s why. We will have time to discuss this subject. Yes, he says. She excuses herself.
During the night, Muka peeks in on Fatma and she pretends to be asleep. Kerim also hears footsteps from his room. Muka goes into the kitchen. She makes a call Perihan. Resat wonders why she has Peri’s number. Put her on speaker, Resat says.
Muka says, I didn’t want to call but I have to. Peri asks, what do you want? No, Muka says, what do “you” want? What does your family want from us? Muka says she’s so desperate that she’s even making this call. I have a one week old baby and my husband is in jail. I can’t take it anymore. Yes, he harmed Erdo but you know what really happened. Those boys continue to follow us and cause us problems. My husband is not a bad person.
What do you want, Peri asks. I just want to know if Rahmi will be the only one to suffer. Your children are still safe and free while my husband is locked up. I told Fatma to leave your family to God’s justice, but she wouldn’t listen to me. We are innocent. Don’t take it out on Rahmi. Peri says that’s not true. I am asking you as a woman, don’t leave my children without a father. Rahmi isn’t capable of hurting anyone, not even Erdo. He just lost control for a second when he saw what was happening.
Peri asks again, what do you want from me? Don’t press charges against Rahmi. Resat and Munir want Peri to keep Muka talking. That’s not my decision, Peri says. Muka tells her to listen to her conscience. Peri says she has to go and hangs up. Resat is ticked, why did you hang up. Peri says, that woman is right. Now I’m ashamed. Munir thinks they have learned their lesson.
Resat wonders if the others made her call. Munir doesn’t think so. Resat says we have to use this in our favor.
Fatma packs a bag for Rahmi with Kerim’s advice. All that’s missing is a towel. Fatma opens her wardrobe and there’s the wedding dress.
Meryem walks in the house and overhears Kadir’s phone convo. We don’t have a choice for now. What are you going to do? Did you finish your preparations? I won’t be able to come to say goodbye. I hoped to see you one more time. Meryem closes the door. Kadir closes his call, ok querida Humeyra, I’ll call you again later. We will arrange to meet again. Have a good trip.
Kadir says he thought Meryem was upstairs. She went out to buy a few things for Muka’s milk production. He’s waiting for Fatma and Kerim, they are going to see Rahmi. Meryem says Omer could have taken care of that so he could see his girlfriend off. Kadir says she is not his girlfriend, just a friend. Whatever. Elif cries and Meryem wants to go. Kadir tells Meryem that his friend really wanted to meet her. Meryem says they will meet sooner or later.
Meryem tells Fatma that Kadir is waiting downstairs. Fatma says Muka wanted to go too, but now she’s changed her mind, she has to feed the baby.
Murat gets in an argument with boys in school. They drew a picture of his father in jail. They call his father a murderer.
Musto sees he’s still being watched. He’s got to figure out how to get to the passport office. He concocts a plan to lose the tail. I’m not sure I understood or care to.
Musto calls Serdar. He asks a favor. He needs to buy a boat. Not something luxurious, just something to take us around the Greek islands. Serdar says he can take them, no need to buy a boat for that. Just look for one, Musto says, I need it quick. In the middle of winter, Serdar asks, why so urgent? He wants to get it cheap that’s why.
Hacer takes Halide to her treatment and Musto tries to sneak out without being seen.
Selim visits with Erdo. Nil enters the room. Erdo pretends to be asleep. Nil looks at his report and thinks Erdo should have been awake by now.
Cut: Muka continues to blame Fatma. Murat comes home from school very upset. The kids called his father a murderer. He doesn’t want to go back to school. Muka rips on Fatma again. Kadir says it’s time to go [before there’s another big blow up]. Muka gives Fatma a shirt that the baby wore so Rahmi has the scent of his daughter. Fatma starts crying outside the house. She can’t take Muka’s blame game anymore.
Cut: The cell mates make fun of Rahmi’s habit of repeating what he says. He gets upset, they say they’re just having a little fun.
Omer calls Kadir. Erdo’s surgery was a success. But he’s not conscious yet. Omer says the doctor is Resat’s friend. Understood. Omer adds that Leman was really a suicide. The Yasarans had nothing to do with it.
Nil comes out to speak with Omer. She tells him she is interested in Fatma’s case and even went to Izmir. Omer kinda remembers seeing her. She asks if it is true that it was the girl’s brother who attacked Erdogan. Omer confirms that. She asks why. Omer says, it was a misunderstanding. He thought Erdo was going to hurt his sister. But he didn’t, right? Omer explains that it was a crime for Erdo to even get close to Fatma. Selim sees them talking. Omer continues, Erdo has already caused much harm to her entire family.
Kadir says he wasn’t able to get permission for Fatma to visit. Only he can go. Fatma gets upset. She insists on going and causes a ruckus outside the office. The prosecutor comes out. She begs him to let her see her brother. Fatma makes the case for her brother’s special situation.
Fatma won her case and we see her meet with Rahmi. Fatma notices discoloration on his face. He says it’s allergies. Kadir says they can treat him in the infirmary. Rahmi says he’s fine. He asks for Murat and Elif.
Cut: Fatma says Muka wanted to come, but she couldn’t leave the baby. Fatma hands Rahmi Elif’s clothes. He takes a big sniff and gets weepy. Rahmi asks if Erdo died. No, but he’s in intensive care. Rahmi says everything changed in an instant. Fatma tells him they filed a counterclaim. Kadir says all depends on Erdo’s condition. The guys inside told Rahmi he would be here at least 3 months before trial. If Erdo dies, 24 years. If he lives, 3 years.
Visit over and Fatma is in tears. Kerim says that Munir is here. He’s worried that he will want to talk to Rahmi. Kadir says that’s not going to happen. Munir appears in the hallway. Fatma warns him to stay away from her brother. Actually, Munir wants to talk to her. He says if Fatma drops the rape case, they will drop the charges against Rahmi. Kerim threatens Munir and Kadir holds him back. Munir says Fatma has until tomorrow to decide.
Kadir says this is a good sign if they want to negotiate. It means Erdo will recover. He wants to file a complaint against Munir.
Kadir’s friend, Humeyra shows up at the house. You must be Meryem, she says. Meryem asks her to come in but Kadir isn’t home. She knows. She wanted to see Meryem and give her something. Zehra Teyze wanted me to bring these. Kadir left in such a hurry he forgot. Meryem asks Humeyra to stay but she can’t, her taxi is waiting to take her to the airport. Muka comes downstairs. Humeyra says she’s sorry to hear what has happened. Kadir told her. Muka leaves to take care of Elif.
Meryem asks Humeyra, you’re a lawyer, right? She answers yes, Kadir is an old friend, we went to university and law school together. He and my husband got along well, we never lost contact. We went through the good and the bad. We both lost our loved ones. Meryem gives her condolences.
Humeyra says this time when they met, Kadir was in good spirits. She was happy for him. Meryem asks why she is telling her this. Because you are the reason for this change. Muka comes back just in time to hear this. Humeyra continues, I know it’s not for me to say. Maybe I shouldn’t have, but I’m glad I did. Meryem is flabbergasted. She doesn’t understand. Kadir admires you, she tells Meryem, even more than that, but I’ll leave it to him.
Kadir is a shy person, Humeyra says, it could take years if it’s up to him. I thought I’d help. Meryem is in shock. Don’t be surprised, try to be happy if you feel the same way as him, Humeyra advises. Congratulations, Muka pipes up, finally good news. [Sure, now she will mess with Meryem and Kadir, too.]
Kadir and Omer talk. No one can visit Rahmi except Kadir. They talk about Munir’s offer. They wonder what Nil is up to. Is she part of the Yasarans’ game? Kerim tells Kadir to take the car, he’s got some things to do. Fatma asks. He says it’s work related. See you later.
Resat gives Erdo an update. Erdo swears if this works, he will be reborn. He won’t even get a traffic ticket.
Cut: Fatma considers Munir’s offer. She wants these people out of her life once and for all. Kadir tries to talk her out of taking the deal. She says it’s ok if she’s the only one to suffer, not her loved ones.
Humeyra leaves and Muka starts in on Meryem. Kadir even asked his ex-inlaws. He will get on his knee for you. Meryem says not upset her. Don’t say such things, especially in front of Kadir. Are we even in a situation to think about this? Muka says no…. but this is looove. Meryem says Muka will never change. Why do I bother to talk?
Muka follows Meryem into the kitchen. I bet you won’t want us in your house, she says. My husband is in jail, you better not kick me out. What if you get really angry? Would you kick me out? Meryem wheels around and shouts, I would! When I get married, you will be the first to go! [standing ovation for Meryem] Meryem throws her out of the kitchen.
Rahmi looks terrible. The cellmates look at a newspaper article about him. They see the initials. F.I. They ask if that’s his sister, Fatmagul. Rahmi gets upset and grabs the paper away. Don’t say her name! Don’t read my news! Mind your own business! Things get tense for a bit.
We see Musto slipped the tail and made it to the passport office.
Yasar keep an eye on Rose Kitchen. Mehmet sees him outside and says they are closed and will reopen tomorrow.
Kadir and Fatma return and Meryem warns Muka not to say anything about Humeyra.
Meryem asks where Kerim is. He went to see people at the new job, Fatma says. He’s not starting that till the new year, Meryem says. uh, oh. Fatma calls him. He’s at Erdo’s hospital. He just wants to talk to Nil and he will return. He promises not to cause trouble. They left us a message and he’s gonna answer it. Kerim heads to Nil’s office.
The doctor has allowed Erdo to be interviewed by the police. Munir goes over the script with Erdo.
Kerim tells Nil he won’t take much of her time. I came to give you a message for the Yasarans. Why me, she asks? Because I’m afraid I might hurt Erdo if I speak to him. Nil doesn’t like that. Kerim says he knows Erdo is fine and just buying time. Nil says this has nothing to do with her. Just tell them we will not negotiate with them, Kerim says. This will never happen. Fatma won’t give in to blackmail. She won’t accept their offer. What offer, Nil asks?
Muka talks to Omer. He says if they can prove that Erdo was purposefully there that day…
Kadir tells Meryem about the offer. He’s worried Fatma will accept it. Muka comes in looking for coffee and decides to stir things up. Did you tell him about Humeyra? Meryem shoots a look. Muka thought she told Kadir. Kadir is surprised. Muka says she was going to congratulate them. Kadir has no idea what’s going on.
Meryem says they were talking about Munir. Muka wants to know. Meryem says she isn’t feeling well and leaves the room. Kadir says Munir is trying to blackmail them. Muka is all for dropping the charges. What are you waiting for, she tells Fatma. It’s your fault. Kadir says they will try to free Rahmi. Muka blows up. My husband is in jail! It’s your fault, she says to Fatma. Murat is listening.
Meryem says do we want them to win? No way! Muka starts in with the blame again. Murat runs down the stairs. No one sees him. Fatma runs to her room and closes the door. Muka tells Meryem we have the chance to end all of this. Meryem calls Muka selfish. Muka says she’s thinking of her husband and children and all you care about is Fatmagul.
Fatma goes out on her balcony to escape the noise. She sees Murat leave the yard. She calls out to him and he takes off running. Fatma comes out of her room… Murat ran away!
And we are out.
Dondi, thank you for another fantastic recap. It's just amazing and how much time and effort you put into this and so appreciated!
Muka Muka Muka, she out-Muka'd herself! How do these people live with her? How can she blame Fatma for everything? Say things like this: 'Muka shouts, it’s easy to say this now, but would you have the guts to do what Rahmi did? Or would you stand and watch like you did before?' to Kerim, torment Meryem, and still play the victim and ask if they are going to kick her out? They should kick her out!! Living with that toxic woman is not good for anyone much less a traumatized Fatma.
Poor Rhami, bless his heart he was so happy to not be crazy! This is the worst form of pressure to put on Fatma and the perfect button for the Yeserans to push! She loves her brother and is worried that he can't handle prison. Too bad they know how to use that!
Nil might be a good ally if Kerim was savvy enough to recruit her! She has the medical knowledge to know how to read Erdo's chart and find irregularities...if she wanted to look for them.
I really hope Fatma doesn't cave to the pressure but like I said that would be a hard choice to make. None of this is her fault but Rhami is vulnerable and it will be hard to not'save' him.
Oh, this is just horrible!!
It's sad but not surprising that Leman did what she did. She was headed that direction. Like you said, '. [That’s one entire family dead because of that one night!]' Makes you wonder what would have happened if Vural had confessed in the beginning when he wanted to...
I guess I am not too worried about Murat because I doubt he will make it too far.
Thank you, dondi356. Great recap, upsetting episode.
What a horrible person Mukaddes is! [standing ovation for Meryem] yes, please, someone, kick her out. She is unbearable. And how she immediately says: what are you waiting for, drop the case. What justice? Feelings of others? Who cares.
Many legal questions. To me, the police are treating Rahmi too harshly. The case can be made for self-defense. The accused approached the crime victim threatening about the pending case. Nobody died. Shouldn't Erdo be in legal trouble for this? And how would Fatmagul even "withdraw" her case? Would she just say she lied? And Kerim lied? But anyway, it is a foreign legal system, maybe things are done that way. Tough choice for Fatmagul.
Dear Dondi, thank you so much . I !ook forward to your excellent recaps and appreciate the time, talent , and effort that you devote to them.
Fatmagul is going to counseling ,and she is becoming more comfortable with Kerim , so life seems to be getting a bit better. However, now Erdo has again caused trouble , and poor Rahmi is now in jail for defending his beloved sister. As always, Muka makes a bad situation worse by attacking Fatmagul and Kerim and blaming them for everything. I marvel at Fatmagul's strength . You expect hour family to love and support you , and everyone in this family does....except for nasty Muka. And she calls Peri. Nobody can control this woman.
One bright spit is that Kadir is falling in love with Meryem . And yes, Muka has made time to insert herself into their business and stir that pot. Can you imagine living with someone that toxic and intrusive ? Ugh
Well, snowing here with sleet and rain tonight. As Camus wrote, " Snow, the leprosy of nature.
My thanks to everyone for their kind words and insightful comments.
Juanita, I agree on all fronts. How can Aslan and Mahfuz be so sloppy about security? A thought crossed my mind that perhaps Aslan wanted it that way, but I couldn’t figure out a purpose to that. I am so totally confused about who knows what and half of that are just a bunch of lies. And ITA, I am enjoying the confusion more than Miran. I’m much more interested in solving the mysteries than I am in ReyMir’s sexless marriage.
Susanlynn, I also enjoyed Yaren going after Gonul. One of the very few times I tolerated her. The dark figure: “Dilsuh or Kim Kardashian. It would be a great twist if it was Kim.” LOL. But I believe that Dilsah is alive. And I really thought that it was said at the beginning that Zehra was a pregnant widow. But it turns out that Mahfuz’s death was a figurative “dead to me”.
Your comments are always a fun read, carmella! This just a big circle of revenge! Yep, now Harun follows Yaren around like a puppy dog. I miss psycho Harun. I’m thinking their marriage is sexless, too.
novelera, I agree they could have pared down the “flowers by the river”. I think these moments are among the worst of the show. IIRC, that old pic of Azize’s family had brothers and sisters and all but Azize and Hanife died in the fire. (I’m leaning towards Azize is Ayse.) That gender default in Spanish is confusing in cases like this. I’ve mentioned before that there is no gender in Turkish, and that can be confusing as well. Context is key. Also, I don’t see Aslan being at risk until everyone finds out he is an Aslanbey.
Thank goodness we are going back to one hour. Two hours of craziness and bombshell revelations each night was too much to process.
Thank you everyone!
Darcy, “Muka Muka Muka, she out-Muka'd herself!” She seems to out-do herself with each episode. Just when you think she can’t sink any lower...
I don’t get why Nil still wavers.
Agree that Fatma has a hard choice ahead of her. Of course, Muka’s going to apply pressure and it’s not only for Rahmi’s sake. If Fatma drops her case, it will save her sorry ass from prosecution as well. Lucio, regarding legal procedures, I can never figure out the justice systems in TNs either. They seem to bend the rules/laws just to move the plot forward.
Susanlynn, Kadir and Meryem are indeed a bright spot. They are so sweet and made for each other. It’s nice to see a love story that features a “mature” couple. I hope you didn’t get hit too hard with the storm. We just had a coating of snow that was swept away by lot of wind and rain. Great Camus quote.
I’ll get a Monday recap up later today.
I caught up. Thanks so much for the fine, detailed recaps, dondi. I'm just getting a word in right before the new page appears for Monday.
We had about half an episode of "little to no Muka" when she was going nuts in the annex house. She took full advantage of that fall down the stairs to insert herself into everyone's business. Blaming Fatmagul for Rahmi's situation is SO awful. Meryem AND Fatmagul should take a tip from some of the characters in Hercai and slap the crap out of her!
She's behaving like she and Rahmi have the greatest love story and Fatma must withdraw the rape claim so reunite her with him. This from a woman who left him for a man who has zero interest in her. Bah! There just aren't enough words in the dictionary for how I feel about that woman.
Sounds like Musto is planning to take a boat from Turkey to Greece. I was sort of glad to see Halide come around a bit at the thought of a grandchild. And she seems to be appreciating Hacer's good qualities a bit.
