Hercai 2 - #32 – parte 1 de 5

A question: How did Azize get that eye makeup back on so fast after her big almost death scene?

Azat continues with his tale of Aslan having shot him. The Sadoglus leave. Smoke coming out of his ears, Miran asks Azize who that guy is. Gonul starts after Miran and is stopped by Sultana, who tells her that Azize has renounced them all.

Miran enters Azize’s room. [Looks like all Sultana’s nice decorating touches are gone.] "Why did you have me shoot Azat and then blame someone else. Who is that guy? Speak! What’s your game?" We see by her face that she is as surprised as everyone else. Azize tells Miran that she doesn’t know who he is. “If he worked for me, do you think Azat would still be alive? And why did Azat go along with it?” Still raging, he says that it was the Sadoglu or it was her, but he’ll get to the bottom of it. Gonul tries to ask Miran what’s happened. He doesn’t reply and, when he leaves, Azize shuts the door in her face. To herself: “Why did you come to change destiny, grandson? What are you up to and who’s helping you?”

Handan does what she does best, total drama queen, everything but the fainting couch. Then the Sadoglu return and she sees that Azat is alive. We see Hanife’s jaw drop. She seems to know who Aslan is. Handan continues her hissy fit and asks where Miran is. When Reyyan calls Handan tía, the yellow caterpillar spits venom. Handan has grabbed Cihan’s gun and is running for the door, when Hazar stops her, saying it was a hunting accident. Aslan says that he didn’t do it on purpose. Handan insists Azize Aslanbey hired him. Aslan says that they were hunting perdices (partridges), took a shot, and then heard a voice.

Miran starts to lose it when Reyyan doesn’t pick up his call. [Poor Firat; he’s had a lifetime of this. He manages not to roll his eyes, but he must be wondering what he did to deserve Miran.] Before Miran leaves he orders Firat to find out all about this Aslan.

Cihan gets in Aslan Aslanbey’s [mostly AA for me from now on] face. “Who are your people? What are your intentions?" Azat calls off his father the attack dog and reminds the roaches that the guy could have just left him there. Nasuh: “Then why did they tell us Miran did it?” Reyyan looks guilty. Azat says that this is because everyone thinks he and Miran are enemies. Hazar restores order and AA and his friend Mahfouz leave.

AA tells Mahfouz that they took the first step toward justice and that the important thing is to be “inside”. He thinks that, thanks to saving Azat, he’ll be considered a friend. He tells Mahfouz that this will make Azize fear; she’ll fear his being close to the Sadoglu.

Mahmoud knocks. He tells HAG that AA isn’t in the hotel, rather he’s in a large house on the outskirts of Midyat. Azize replies that she’ll talk to the boy and get him to leave. Mahmoud talks her out of going there; the Sadoglu could be watching the house and he’d be in danger. HAG agrees, but tells him to keep watch and kill any Sadoglu who approaches. After the faithful dog leaves, she muses: “Why did you come here?”

Hercai 2 - #32 – parte 2 de 5

We see Aslan writing a letter. “What’s up, Aslan Aslanbey. Someone finally calls you by your true name. I wasn’t the one who stole your surname, but I’m the one who’ll return it to you. You are the Aslanbey heir. [What’s Gonul, chopped liver?] You come from one of the oldest families in Midyat, the grandson of Azize Aslanbey and the only male child of Ahmed and Sultana Aslanbey. You grew up in a lie, knowing nothing because Azize Aslanbey didn’t want to sacrifice you in her war against the Sadoglu. But, by a twist of fate, you became one of the victims of this war.”

AA’s phone rings, but he says that even Azize Aslanbey doesn’t get to reach people the first time they call. He tells Mahfouz that she won’t come to this house. She won’t risk him. “We’ll proceed with our plan. She’ll ask me why I came. She’ll never know that I am the one sending those notes, casting shadows over her life.” [!!!] He picks up a call and arranges to meet someone.

Azat is remembering what he heard Miran say to Azize (when he was letting Firat know what had happened). He says to himself that Miran is a liar, a real swine. Reyyan comes in. He starts up with the accident story but she tells him she knows who shot him. She goes on to say how HAG made her watch. Azat says he went there to find out what she wanted…Reyyan interrupts…”to protect your family”. Azat is upset. “He came to us, renounced the vengeance, ate at the same table with us!” Reyyan tells him she’s confused because Miran didn’t blame Azat at all for Elif.

Azat replies that Miran only cares about his revenge. He says that this is not a fairy tale and Reyyan is not a princess. When she asks why he lied, he says that he’s keeping a promise to Elif…that he won’t be part of any revenge.

Reyyan is sitting on the upper deck and Melike approaches to give Reyyan her phone with a call from Miran.

Aslan goes to see Sultana. She calls him her son and cries with joy.

Reyyan has met Miran and slaps him. She tells him not to lie because she saw the whole thing with her own eyes. He’s shocked. She tells him this is always about him, his grandmother, and their twisted games. “I saw it because your grandmother made me watch it locked in a car.” Miran: “Let me explain. It’s not what you think. My grandmother set this up so you’d see it all, but you need to let me explain.” She hits him in the chest over and over. “Explain so you could wipe away what I heard. Explain so I can forget. Explain so that neither you or my family end up hurt. Explain so my heart won’t break every time I believe in your words.”

“I shot him, but I had to do it. If I hadn’t, she would have.” “You can’t stop being her grandson. You keep believing her. What will you do now, shoot my father because your grandmother wants you to, even though you don’t believe her.” Miran looks devastated. “You really think this? Then…” He gives her his gun, saying she did it once before. He’d rather die right here than hear what she just said. “I shot him to keep him alive!”

Hercai 2 - #32 – parte 3 de 5

We see a flashback to Sultana in the insane asylum. AA comes up behind her. She shies away. He calls her mamá and says that he’s not dead. He says that he came to get her away from this place. She tells him that her son is dead. He finally proves it by showing her a birthmark on his back that she apparently also has. [I saw this birthmark stuff a couple of times in Uni novelas in the past.] AA tells Sultana that Azize hid him from her for all these years. He didn’t know who he was until he discovered that the couple raising him weren’t his parents. He thought he was Aslan Karahan. He tells her she’s not crazy. He has her smell him and she tells him he smells like Gonul. [This whole scene explains the “new” Sultana when she came back from the asylum. She was sort of full of herself and let things just roll off her.]

Back to the present. Sultana is worried about AA having said he shot Azat. He says it’s part of his plan. He asks her to be patient and not to tell his sister anything.

Back to ReyMir. She says that she can’t even define truth. He asks her to listen. If he hadn’t shot Azat, Mahmoud would have shot him in the head. “I shot him to protect him. I would never do anything that would separate us. If I had wanted to kill him, he wouldn’t be alive. If you want to leave me or don’t believe me, just listen to your heart. It will tell you the truth. I had to do it. If not, Mahmoud would have shot. And my grandmother was pointing a gun at me. I didn’t only save Azat but also my own life. The only way out was to shoot him in a place that wouldn’t be fatal. My grandmother had given up on me, and she would have killed Azat without a second thought. Why do you think she brought you there? So you could see me shoot Azat, but not see her pointing a gun at me?

Reyyan: “She was pointing a gun at you?” Miran says what many of us on the Patio thought. He thought about shooting Mahmoud. Azize didn’t notice, but he saw her in the car mirror (holding a gun). “If I shot Mahmoud and saved Azat, she’d have shot me and then Azat. Because…” Reyyan: “she knows her enemy well. Azat would never have hurt a woman.” “I thought of putting myself in front of Azat, but he didn’t pull out a gun, only turned his back and walked.

Reyyan: “Elif’s grave! That’s why she did it. So Azat would see it and act. But we ruined that plan.” Reyyan realizes that if Miran hadn’t shot Azat, he’d be dead and moves into his arms. [This scene sort of surprised me. I was expecting a long period of them being apart and Aslan putting some moves on her.] Miran has brought Reyyan to the Sadoglu konak and wants to see Azat to explain. Reyyan thinks it’s too soon.

AA meets up with Harun. He asks Harun what the Sadoglu are saying. Harun just says that Azize is always brewing something. Harun says that Hanife really wants to see him. AA tells Harun to keep on being his spy in Casa Sadoglu. Harun asks when he can be liberated from the torture of Yaren. AA advises him to win her over; it could be useful. Harun snorts that he’s going home to an elite gentleman, Mahfouz, but he has to be with an apprentice to the devil. After Harun leaves, AA says to himself that a big difference between Azize Aslanbey and himself is that she has lots of enemies, while he has lots of friends.

We see HAG looking worried. “Don’t know if you’ve come as a friend or an enemy, but you’re my grandson.”

Hercai 2 - #32 – parte 4 de 5

These two meet out in a desert. She asks why he didn’t pick up her calls and AA replies that he didn’t think that this would be the first thing she said to him when they met for the first time. He asks her who wrote this letter and hands it to her. [Aha! This is the letter he was writing in his study.] She takes one look, likely recognizes the handwriting, and says it’s her enemy. She says this is why he has to leave…for his own protection. He puts on some outrage, accusing her of separating him from his mother. He says that the Sadoglu won’t find anything out about him, but he learned about them and about her. He knows she put him in the best internados (boarding schools). He says that then he got over his anger. “But you chose Miran as your weapon! Did you think I wasn’t capable and that Miran was superior.” Quick as always she replies that those people killed his parents. She says she paid the price of separation; she couldn’t sacrifice both of them. One Aslanbey had to leave and she chose him.

AA: “I know the Sadoglu are the reason we left these lands. I know they’re responsible. No one will know I’m an Aslanbey, but I am with you in this war.” She yells that he has to leave and he yells back that he won’t leave his mother and his sister. He accuses her of having made mistakes, like having Miran shoot Azat. He tells her he didn’t save the Sadoglu when he saved Azat. He saved his family. The Aslanbey would be in danger. He plays her like a fiddle and ends up hugging her while he says to himself that her end is near.

Things go from bad to worse at SAD house. Miran has sneaked in, trying to convince Reyyan to let him see Azat. Nasuh overhears about his being the one who shot Azat. When he rushes in, Reyyan grabs a gun and points it at Miran, pretending to now hate him. Hazar and Cihan come in, followed closely by the rest of the family. It’s very sad when Hazar leans close and tells Miran he believed in him and confronted his family for him. “You didn’t only shoot Azat in the back; you shot me!” Reyyan manages to diffuse the situation by saying she doesn’t want her family to be murderers. Azat comes in to say he lied about who shot him for this very reason, that no one would become a murderer, that his baby sister wouldn’t have to grow up without a father.

In the courtyard Reyyan tells Miran he’s dead to her family, while they communicate their love with their eyes. She says that she’s not his wife, in front of the roaches, and that she’s going to divorce him. We see Yaren grinning from ear to ear. He leaves while that sad bolero plays. Reyyan gives her ring to her father, saying he had it made for Señora Dilsuh.

Miran calls Firat and asks him if he found the house. He’s in a fine, typical Miran rage. He plans to find out this guy’s intentions.

Mahfouz and AA are playing pool. AA asks Mahfouz how he found (meaning what he thought of her) Azize. He replies that she’s strong. AA says she’s a coward and she’s begun to lose her game. Soon everyone will know the truth and there will be justice. AA says that Miran is not a liar. He’s brave, brave enough to be dangerous.

And, of course, a knock at the door. Miran and Firat force their way in. Miran looks crazier than ever, gets in AA’s face and asks him what’s going on.

Hercai 2 - #32 – parte 5 de 5

After trying to find out from Azat what happened with AA, Cihan finds a notebook on the floor and, of course, reads it. It was Elif’s. She seems to have been writing to Sultana, saying she let her husband die in the accident. He was alive and asked for help, but you let him die. But don’t worry. I won’t tell anyone [you just did]. Even though my uncle made you suffer, it would be the end of us if Grandmother discovered you let her son die. Cihan: “Vaya, vaya, vaya. Now all of you are in my hands. We’re going to learn Azize Aslanbey’s whole history.”

AA tells Miran he has no right to come and interrogate him. Whoops! Red flag…bull! The bull catches sight of the partially opened, enlarged photo of Reyyan. He snorts exactly like a bull, punches AA, and pulls a gun. “Who are you?” [He’s quite a few notches higher than his rants when he saw Reyyan talking with Harun.] He threatens to blow AA’s brains out if he doesn’t have an explanation. AA is calm. He tears off the rest of the paper covering the large photograph and we see that it’s of both Reyyan and Miran on horseback. AA says he didn’t know it was Miran’s wife. He just was taking a picture of nature, the expressions on their faces. Photography is a passion of his.

Well, Mr. Hothead doesn’t accept this. He tears the whole room apart looking for more pictures of his wife. [This really is outrageous behavior.]

Hazar comes in to see Reyyan asking why Miran came. Was it to confess? She tells Hazar that Azat was the one who told her who shot him.

AA looks through the crack in his false bookcase at another photo of Reyyan. Way too close to his face Miran asks why he said he shot Azat. “Who are you? What are your intentions here?” AA responds that sometimes in life we take the blame for others. “I know you shot Azat. He asked us to help him when we found him. I have a question. The wound was clean, went through without any organ damage. Was Azat lucky or did you give him this opportunity?” Miran replies that they’ll just say Azat was lucky. He starts getting even more hostile. AA: “I’ve spend a half hour listening to you; now you listen to me. This isn’t the Old West. You can’t come into my house and threaten me. I don’t wave guns around like you do. There are laws in this country.”

Miran: “Azat may think you’re an angel, but I don’t see a halo. I know you’re hiding something. I’ll find it out. You’ll feel my breath on your neck until I know what it is. Don’t take pictures of people without their permission and never approach my wife."

ReyMir meet in the street. But the bull starts snorting. “Why did this guy appear?” He gets furious when she calls him Aslan. She convinces him that they have to maintain some distance for a while.

Mahfouz said their first meeting was rather unfortunate. AA: “We knew he was temperamental.” Mahfouz: “But he sort of had a reason. Why enlarge that photograph?” “He’s my cousin, and she’s his wife.” Mahfouz says that they need to keep a low profile.

Yes Novelera ..I see Azize is back to Khol eyeshadow. And in reflection of.. 'BACK FROM THE DEAD'.I have a few words...

Loving those Turkish dizi... gotta love them:They totally threw ...‘a -curve ball’… with this one, the 'PREP FOR DEATH'..segment was so layered…

So, with your permission ...I got to go in and do ‘A-Deep-Dive’……on the ‘ 40 Days and 40 Nights’: which is sacred...

Azize ‘s making ‘Ablutions’... in preparation for death?? …Was close to perfect ..:Azize performed “WUDU’[water cleansing].. in the traditional [Sunnah] manner.. which, I am sure ,you all thought was …a reflection of her solemnity and piety[finally]... I was moved.. Then my jaw -hit-the-floor’...!

I thought the woman was just in mourning ..prepping to make “Salat’/prayers for Elif…
Her ‘Ghusl’[cleansing for prayer] technique was swift and crisp…in the perfect /traditional sequence[‘Hadiths].. Clarity in execution and water economical [in desert culture]…..

BUT instead of Reciting ; ‘Allahu-Akbar':3x’s…as she washes each appendage....she declares 'vendetta' with each step.
I was in Shock!! And I am sure all of the middle east viewers were as well…[no wonder this show went to No#1 in the Ratings]...

What this woman did, in terms of Islamic protocolwas 'OFF-THE-CHARTS'. Very surprised it was Not Censored. [Gotta love secular Turkey]..

Okay… very nice for a Red-Jinn’s wife…….. But instead of having her supplications /intentions made/declared: in 'Praise of the Lord’..!??...hers were [ curses/damnations made to Shaytani/Satan…….. the woman has no shame!!

I believe this act was to show how perverted she is …..it was close to/if not outright… being sacrilegious …. there is no redemption for Azize. The fire reference she keeps using ..is HELL FIRE...

Novelera, thank you so much for an excellent recap of this bubbling pot.

Aslan is a strange, interesting addiction to this mad stew of revenge and crazy . He has kind of a quietly wild look about him as opposed to Miran' s loud huffing and puffing . He seemed to truly be thrilled to see his mother. The whole "you smell Gonul " ...what is up with the smelling people?

Watching Miran rant and rave at Azat and Harun because of his jealousy over Rey was one thing , but seeing him storming at Aslan, who seems to be another alpha male and his cousin with a big tattoo and lots of photos of Rey in his secret wall ,was a whole different vibe to me. Aslan has an unsettling quality about him. He seems very confident ...kind of like his badgranny. He's kind of gorgeouscreepy.

Wow! MANY thanks, novelera, for this superb recap. You've captured everything and have added some delightful snark (e.g., "You are the Aslanbey heir. [What’s Gonul, chopped liver?].").

It took me a while to get used to thinking of Aslan when I saw AA. That's the way I've been referring to Azize when I take notes. But from now on, I'll try to change that to AZ.

The importance of smell was so clear in the moving scene with Sultana and Aslan. I keep giving mental thanks to dondi356 for explaining, perhaps for an earlier dizi, the importance of smell in Turkish culture. That information keeps being useful.

One question/comment: I thought that Aslan said he was one of those sending the notes. Did I get that wrong? Also, I hope that Aslan has, from the start, disguised his handwriting, both on the notes and in the letter. Otherwise, there's a danger of his being outed if some of his other correspondence falls into the wrong hands.

Like you, I was very surprised that Reyyan and Miran got back together so quickly. I thought it would take weeks, and perhaps Reyyan's becoming attracted to Aslan in the interim.

I still think that it's likely Aslan is attracted to Reyyan. Obsessively so. Why else would he have a secret wall covered with photos of her? I also wonder how he got all those photos up so fast and managed to hide them with a secret bookcase that moves. Was that secret room there from before he arrived?? Is there a Telenovela Contracting Company that works as speedily as Telenovela Airlines and Telenovela Medicine?

I also wonder about the Sadoglu konak. Surely such a grand structure would have thick, sturdy doors on each room, wouldn't it? Apparently not, since Nasuh could hear the conversation between Miran and Reyyan even with the door closed. (Then again, if Miran was in Bull mode, perhaps his roar would carry. [And yes, I loved your extended references to Miran as a Bull.])

Finally, I wonder whether Elif deliberately left her diary out for someone to find.

Again, MANY thanks for this wonderful recap.

Thank you Nett and novelera for recapping 4 hours of reveals and regressive behavior! Excellent play by play from both of you!

“But the bull starts snorting.” novelera, you captured all the Angry Bangs Miran behavior with that statement. When Miran and Aslan were face “in” face, Miran looked like a nervous chihuahua pup barking at a thoroughbred Stallion.

Aslan is the note master and appears to be out to get Azize, but he is also obsessed with Reyyan, so that is not going to be good or maybe it will. He is cute enough to tolerate some craziness. Now we know why Sultana has been so brave lately and if she has some mental illness tendencies, then I think it is safe to think Aslan does too.

What I am still puzzled about after Elif’s death, is how Azize got back into the Aslanbey konak and Yaren got back into the Sadoglu casa? Did you see how excited Yaren was when Reyyan declared she would divorce Miran? Does she think she has a chance?

HALIDMACANDY thank you for explaining the Azize death ritual a bit more. I was totally lost when it was happening. I guess she hoped the Sadoglu’s would shoot her dead after discovering Azat was dead? Crazy stuff.

I like the new characters; Mahfouz is pretty handsome as well and I am very interested in how all this will play out. Azize definitely has more enemies than friends as Aslan said.

I missed reading your recaps novelera, glad we are back on schedule and I only have to recap one hour on Monday!

herc

VVS, yes, you will only have to recap 1 hour this coming Monday (Jan. 10), but the rest of us recappers will have to slog through 2-hour episodes for the rest of that week. Sigh. Fortunately, when Exatlón returns on Monday, January 17, it will run from 7-9PM, and Hercai will return to 9-10PM!

herc

Hi Juanita. Thank you for confirming the 1 hour epi on Monday and the real regular schedule on January 17th. Yes, these two hour epis have been a challenge to complete. I will say, I have enjoyed moving along the storyline a bit more quickly.

BTW, I found your comment about Elif's diary intriguing! She seemed pretty purposeful in all her plans, so you may be correct.

herc

Terrific comments, all. Yep, these two-hour episodes are challenging. Don't want to leave out crucial events and critical conversations. But putting in every last thing would keep me up until sunrise.

Halimacandy: A million thanks for your informative comments about rituals for death, after childbirth, etc., within Islam. And I was amazed to read that the ritual and the words Azize was using were not the correct ones before death. And that she'd be headed for the other place just on the basis of that!

Susanlynn:Thanks for "gorgeouscreepy". Perfect. Aslan has such a calm, logical masculinity, the direct opposite of Miran. But the obsessive interest in Reyyan, knowing she has a husband, is unsettling.

Juanita: Sorry about AA spoiling your recapping shorthand! Had to save some keystrokes some way, somehow. I don't recall Aslan saying he was one of the note senders, but that could just be my missing it. And, yes, Aslan hired Lightning-Fast Telenovela Construction, Inc.™, for the wall hiding his weird collection of photography. I also was thinking of dondi when Sultana recognized Aslan's smell. This is fairly odd to me. I doubt I smell like my younger brother.

VVS: Thanks for AngryBangs Miran. I'm pretty sure you used it before and it's sidebar worthy description. Yes, they used that 40 days to good effect. We did not see how Yaren wormed her way back in and how Hazar let her do it. Another odd thing is Azize giving Esma a house in her premature last will and testament. I thought she'd already given her the house they went to during her "exile". I thought the same thing: does Yaren think she now has a chance with Miran or is she just delighting in Reyyan suffering? And I LOVED nervous Chihuahua Miran vs Thoroughbred Stallion Aslan!!!

Halimacandy....I did not intentionally type " Barack" ..no idea what it means . I comment on my tablet , and autocorrect hates me and keeps changing what I type . What does the word mean ? I don't understand Turkish ,but I do know a little Arabic and have had Muslim students .

I agree with all the comments regarding the comparison between Miran and Aslan . Aslan does seem more the strong, silent , still waters ,John Wayne type, while Miran does look small, hyper, and yippy next to him . Yip yippp, yipppppp. Bow wow wow . Aslan looks like the an it Dog now. Hmmmm. And the silent tears as he hugs his crazy mama. On top of everything , Miran is back to bangs .....which doesn't help his look. His hissfits look even worse next to Aslan's cool, calm, mysterious appearance . He has more of the traditional Mexican telenovela galan vibe. He looks a bit like TBLMOE Fernando Colunga.

herc

Susanlynn, thanks for the memory! TBLMOE brings back so many fond memories of Colunga. For the newbies, it means The Best Looking Man on Earth. Good point about Aslan's being a more traditional, stoic Mexican telenovela galan type.

Fatmagul #43 part 1

Somehow, Kadir has quickly returned from Ankara and has found Kerim, who is still at the bar, sleeping on the table. [Kerim closed the bar down!] Kadir wakes him, it’s time to go home. Kerim says he can’t go home. But Kadir gets him up and out. Kerim tells Kadir, you are my father. Okay, Kadir says. You are, Kerim says. Kadir loads him into the cab.

The Yasarans arrive home from Ankara. Perihan stares at them from her window. Hilmiye asks what happened and Resat says nothing, we testified and returned. Hilmiye tells Erdo their house is sold.

Resat goes up to the bedroom and Perihan gives him a withering look. Sit down, she says. He asks her if something is wrong. She says she’s tired. [yep, tired of him!] Resat starts talking about the testimony. Perihan tells him a package arrived for him today, from Yasemin. You know her well, you, Erdogan and also Turaner. [Uh, oh, Resat!]

And, Resat asks? Yasemin is blackmailing you, Perihan says with a smile. She recorded phone conversations with Erdo. He hired her. You and Selim are involved. Oh, and there were photos, too. So you can’t say you don’t know her. Where is the package, he asks? Perihan has it. We have to destroy it immediately, Resat says. Give it to me. Perihan just sits.

Resat says he’s sorry. He didn’t want all this to happen. Perihan says she gave up years ago. When this is over, she tells him, I am leaving your life forever. I don’t want to see you anymore. Not you or Selim.

Resat says ok, but where is the package? I’m going to keep it, she says. Perihan warns, if you keep messing with that girl, I will reveal the recordings myself. You are protecting Yasemin, Resat asks? Yasemin? Who cares about Yasemin? I mean Fatmagul, Peri says. That seemed to strike some fear into Resat. Peri tells him, [Turkish] this is a burden I can no longer carry. If you keep this going, I will talk to the judge and tell him everything I know. WTH, Resat says, you are blackmailing me? Yep, she is . She learned it from Resat. She kicking him out of the bedroom, too.

Taxi pulls up to Kadir’s. Fatma and Muka look out the window and they are shocked to see the very drunk Kerim with him. Meryem comes running out of the house. Rahmi comes out. Fatma comes out. Fatma opens the study door and there’s the sweater on the sofa. Rahmi tosses it away to make way for Kerim. Kerim stops in front of Fatma, he says, don’t be afraid. I’m not going to do anything.

Kerim flops on the sofa and says he’s not drunk. Rahmi smiles and says, sure, the world is spinning, not you. Kadir closes the door to let Kerim change his clothes. Muka puts her ear to the door. Leave them alone, Fatma says. But she starts to listen in, too.

Kerim apologizes to Rahmi. I behaved very badly with Fatmagul, he says. I’ll make up for it. Make up for it tomorrow, Kadir says. You’re in no condition to do anything now.
Rahmi says just don’t make my sister cry anymore. We don’t need anything more. Don’t make her angry, that’s all. Kerim promises. I won’t make her angry. She won’t see my face anymore. I’ll break up with her. In the Turkish, he says he will divorce her.

Cut: Meryem comes downstairs with lemon water to make Kerim feel better. She sends Fatma upstairs to watch the rice she is cooking. She shoos Muka from the door and goes in. Kerim says, I love her so much, but I hurt her more than anyone. Not anymore. Kerim doesn’t want to drink what Meryem gives him.

Muka goes up to bother Fatma. She tells her Kerim only said that because he’s drunk. He won’t divorce you. He can’t leave you. Fatma gives her the spoon to stir the rice and goes to her room. Muka shuts the rice and leaves the kitchen.

Fatmagul #43 part 2

Meryem asks Kadir how he found Kerim. We were on the phone until I took my flight. He was so depressed over what happened last night, he can’t forgive himself.

Muka asks if Kerim is alright. Yep, he fell right asleep. Rahmi leaves and Muka makes footsteps to pretend she’s going upstairs, but she’s going to listen to Meryem and Kadir’s convo.

What is going on with him, Meryem asks, is getting drunk the solution? If he keeps doing this… he will end up losing himself. Kadir says it’s not that big of a deal. These are problems that can be fixed. Kerim is having a trust problem. Meryem blames herself. Kadir says it’s not just this. He feels alone in life, Meryem tells Kadir, he trusted me and I lied to him. She starts to cry. Muka gets as close as she can to get an earful. This is where we come back into the show.

Now Kerim is talking about divorce, Meryem says. He’ll doubt and make wrong decisions. Doubt, that’s for sure, Kadir replies, he’s very confused. How could he not, with all he’s going through? But he won’t give up on Fatmagul. But he’s very confused, Meryem says. Kadir says, I believe they will find a way to resolve this, we will help them. Oooh, Kadir wipes a tear from Meryem’s face. Muka strains to get a look but gives up and goes up the stairs as quiet as she can.

Kadir has some good news. Kerim’s boss called him back to work. Meryem wonders how he will be able to go to work tomorrow.

Muka goes to Fatma’s door, are you alright? Good night, Mukaddes, is the answer.

Cut: Fatma sits on the edge of her bed and thinks back: that first encounter on the stairs. The second one in the yard. The confrontation between Mustafa and Kerim in the field, “if you really love me, you won’t pull that trigger.” Fatma is teary and she twists her wedding ring. She wipes a tear and thinks back again when she told Kerim, we will divorce and go our own way and he replied he wouldn’t divorce her. He wasn’t going to leave her. End cut.

Kerim wakes up with Murat blowing in his face. Good morning, the kid says. Kerim mumbles a good morning. Are you sick, Murat asks? Something like that, Kerim replies. Muka calls Murat. Kerim says your mom is calling, you will be late for school. No school, it’s Saturday, Murat says. And Kerim sits bolt upright. Oh, no. I’ll be late for work! I have to go!

Muka comes in, she takes Kerim’s clothes for the wash. She takes the sweater. Muka says he can go up for breakfast. Everyone’s gone to work. She tells him he should call Fatma. Why? She said to call her when you woke up. Muka adds, she heard you talk about divorce. She wants to talk to you.

Muka sends a message to Fatma: Kerim woke up. She calls him and tells him to come to the restaurant, she needs to speak with him. When can you come? I can’t come now, he tells her. Why? Because I’m starting work again. Oh, yes, Meryem did tell her. She tells him to come after work. In the Turkish she adds, we definitely have to talk today. We must talk about this issue before it becomes bigger. Kerim is worried.

Kerim has made it to work. Mumtaz passes by and reports to Fahrettin.

Fatma gets ready for the talk and Kerim arrives at Rose Kitchen. Meryem and Rahmi leave. [I am going to give you the Turkish scene and translation because it is slightly different] Fatma starts, I wanted to talk as soon as possible because I’m not at peace. Kerim apologizes. I’m sorry for that night. I’m sorry for everything I put you through. I can imagine how sorry you are, she replies. Believe me, Kerim says, I am suffering so much right now. Because I am not like this. I am especially sensitive when it comes to you, or at least I used to be. But I lost myself, and I am sorry.

Fatmagul #43 part 3

Fatma says, first your mother… then your father… you went through a difficult time as well. You were confused. You were hurt. I understand, but I can’t understand exactly how you feel. And I am sorry I slapped you, it was a reflex. Kerim knows he frightened her. She admits she was frightened .

I don’t like when Mustafa is mentioned again and again, she says. Kerim answers, and you know I don’t like Mustafa at all. I don’t have the slightest feeling for Mustafa anymore, Fatma replies. Anymore, Kerim asks? For a long time, Fatma clarifies. Why are you so mad at me, she asks, don’t you trust me?

I don’t trust myself, Kerim responds. I’m learning to trust you, Kerim, Fatma says. I’m trying to start something new with you. He knows. I memorized everything you wrote to me, she tells him. Did you know that? I believed every word. I tried to absorb it all.
Do you remember the day I told you I wanted to be cured, she asks? She takes his hand. Since that day, I’ve been working on it. I used to be unable to say your name. When you said my name, it felt like a curse. I used to hate seeing your face. But now I write you letters. Look, I’m holding your hand. Don’t you see how hard I try?

He takes his hand away. “Trying”...that’s the point, Kerim says. You feel forced to try. That’s what I’m talking about. I am doing such a great harm to you… and you are trying to accept it. You don’t want to, but you try because of me. Listen to your words: Trying, working. She doesn’t think that’s bad, but he feels like he’s forcing her. She says she wants to have a family, too. He tells her she doesn’t have to do anything. I want nothing else but for you to be cured. That’s what I’m working on, she replies.

Kerim pauses, head down. He says, that’s why I decided to let you go. You will recover quicker that way. This doesn’t mean I don’t love you. You said I didn’t trust you, but you’re the only one I trust. I’ll never stop loving you. But if we continue like this, I’ll never be certain about myself. Because I know you don’t love me. They get up from the table.

Kerim tells her, you wanted to make me happy, you are treating me well. But that is why I want to break up. She shows him the cake she made and says, but I don’t want to. This time last year, I wanted to die, but now I have a reason to live. Kerim really wants to believe this.

I made this cake for us, she tells him. We’ve been married for a year now. We are already in our second year on Oct 7. You said we would collect nice memories. Happy ones. I want that too. Let this be the first one. Let’s not break up. If that’s what you want, he replies, that means a lot to me. It’s an important decision for me, too, Fatma says. Kerim smiles and says to cut the cake. She cuts the cake, Kerim says happy first anniversary. There is still some residual uneasiness from their talk. That’s the entire scene.

Too bad we go to Munir and Yasar. He fills in Munir about the “fishing expedition” he did in Ildir to find dirt about Mustafa. Mustafa was there the night of Vural’s death. He mentions how Serdar was nervous. Munir wishes they could get proof Mustafa took the boat or find a way to get Musto to confess. He wants to plant seeds of suspicion with Kerim to break up any partnership that might be forming [I had a good laugh at that]

Hacer gets a call from Leman. She doesn’t take it. Musto demands to know who it is. Why is Leman calling you? She wants to talk about Vural.

Erdo wants to be a different person. He wants to clean his conscience. All because he loves Dr. Nil.

Peri and Hilmiye play cards. Resat wants to talk to Peri alone. She tells Hilmiye to stay where she is. He asks her where “it” is. She doesn’t answer and he starts to shout. Hilmiye is like WTH.

Fatmagul #43 part 4

Muka speculates what will happen to them if Fatma and Kerim get divorced. [they should throw her sorry azz out regardless] She watches for Fatma and Kerim to come home.
Quiet taxi ride home with the anniversary cake. Fatma and Kerim arrive. Murat is happy they will have cake. He asks why pieces were already cut. Fatma says they already had some. Muka comments—a celebration? Your late anniversary? We thought there would be a divorce. Meryem says she will make tea but Fatma wants to do it and make a quick getaway from Muka.

Muka blocks her way. Tell us what happened? Why did you upset us if you were going to make up? We were waiting to hear a separation speech. We were waiting with fear for hours. We didn’t know you would be celebrating. Kerim says too Fatma, I told you we shouldn’t have brought the cake here.

Fatma goes into the kitchen to make tea and cry. Meryem asks her what happened, what’s wrong. Fatma says later.

Kerim tries to speak with Kadir about one of the legal issues. I can’t figure out which. But Muka wants Kerim’s attention, and he excuses himself with a good night. He peeks into the kitchen and tells Fatma good night. You’re going downstairs, she asks? Yes. Good night, he says, thanks for the cake.

Muka goes into the kitchen to ask what happened. Nothing, Meryem says, leave us alone. Muka can’t help herself, but you were getting a divorce? You were crying? Fatma says, no but if you continue, you will make me cry. Muka doesn’t give up. Rahmi assures Fatma that if she is afraid of being alone if she divorces, he won’t leave her. So she can do what she wants. He’s here for her. Fatma says there won’t be a break up, don’t worry.

Next morning Muka comes out and she’s wearing the sweater Fatma made for Kerim. And Fatma is ticked. Sorry, I was cold and it was the first thing I found, Muka says. Fatma says it was in Kerim’s room, where did you find it? In the clothes basket. Rahmi confirms he put it in the basket. [they cut the scene where Rahmi folded the laundry] Muka gets all hissy, then apologizes to Kerim. He tells her it’s okay, she can wear it. Oh boy, the look on Fatma’s face! She’s hurt.

Kerim says he’s going to work. On a Sunday? Yes, they have to finish a job this week. Fatma thought they could spend time together, maybe take a walk. Kerim says it’s only his second day back, he has to go. He doesn’t even have time for breakfast. Fatma follows him downstairs.

Meryem comes in as Kerim is on his way out. He doesn’t say anything to her. When Meryem leaves, [Turkish] Fatma tells Kerim, that Meryem knows what she did wrong. She’s sorry. Why can’t you forgive her? Kerim puts his finger to his lips, shhh… Please, Fatma continues, she looks into your eyes to see a tiny spark of warmth. She’s your Meryem Abla. Kerim smiles and says goodbye. Don’t be so harsh on her, Fatma says. She forgave you when you made a mistake. She didn’t lose her trust, she believed in you. Doesn’t she deserve a bit of sympathy? Even you cannot solve all of the problems in one day, Kerim replies. See you later.

Kadir is standing there when Fatma closes the door. You heard? Kadir says Kerim’s mind and emotions are confused. There are contradictions within. Why does he take it out on me, Fatma asks? Because he is scared. He doesn’t want to lose you. You didn’t do anything wrong. Take care of him and don’t worry about the rest. He’s testing me and my patience, Fatma replies.

Fatmagul #43 part 5

Fatma tells Meryem not to be upset. But Meryem says this is affecting her a lot. He will be okay, Fatma tells her, just give him time, don’t worry. Meryem worries Kerim will never forgive her. You have a special place in his heart, Fatma says, he would never stop loving you. The problem is his father. You’re right, the problem is with his father, Meryem says, but our relationship won’t get better until he can forgive his father. That’s why I don’t have hope.

Cut: Fatma and Kadir talk about Meryem. Kadir says he has something in mind to help.
Fahr talks with one of his men about Resat’s business dealings. The banks might give the Yasarans a break. Mumtaz returns and says it’s tonight, we can go together. Whatever that means.

Kerim gets a phone call from “Serdar”. You did not kill Vural. Mustafa did. He took the boat out that night. Kerim demands to know who, what, why. The caller hangs up. It’s Yasar planting those seeds. Kerim tries to identify the caller. The call was made from a public phone in Taksim.

Mustafa looks for Hacer’s passport while she pukes in the bathroom. He’s getting ready for their trip. Mustafa leaves to do some paperwork and cops show up to take him in for questioning in the murder of Vural Namli.

Kerim calls Fatma. He asks if anyone called her today. Just food orders. Why? Any silent calls? No, why? What’s wrong? Kerim asks her to call home and ask if there were calls. No one is home, Fatma says. What is going on? Kerim is frantic. If you get an unknown call, don’t pick it up, let me know. She wants to know what’s going on. Just don’t pick up the phone.

Finally Kerim tells her: it was Mustafa who killed Vural. Fatma gasps, what?! Someone called me and told me. Fatma says that’s impossible. Kerim says why not? It’s very strange, she replies. Kerim says he was in town that night. Are you so sure? Was he with you that night? Fatma can’t believe what she’s hearing.

Kerim says, when the guards took me he was there by your side. Fatma starts shouting, That’s enough! Don’t torture me! I only told you it couldn’t have been him. That’s because you still trust him, Kerim replies. Fatma hangs up.

The cops communicate with the base on radio. Is the suspect with you? Yes. His friend spoke. We have a statement. This is over, Mustafa Nalcali, one of the cops tell him. Musto proclaims his innocence. One tries to cuff him and he struggles. Another cop sprays him with pepper spray. Lol

Kerim shows up at the restaurant. Fatma is frosty towards him. He’s done with work and wants to go out. She hestates. Meryem gives her a nod and she relents. They take the truck. For the millionth time in this show, Kerim apologizes to Fatma. You say you don’t want to upset me, you don’t want to hurt me, but look at what you are doing, she replies. Why did you say he was with me? Okay, I’m sorry, Kerim says. She doesn’t understand why he mixes her up in his ish. Kerim tells her they will talk later when they are calmer.

Cut: Musto is taken into a building. He’s searched. We hear radio calls in the background. They shoot this at a weird angle. We see legs, hands, footsteps, and quick edits. Also, Mustafa has been sprayed so we see everything fuzzy through his eyes. He’s locked alone in a room.

Hacer goes out with Sami and she notices Musto’s car is still there. Where can he be? She tells Sami to leave. He doesn’t understand. She called him here, they needed to talk. She gives him money and [Turkish] tells him to rent a place for her on the opposite side, not in the same neighborhood she was before. She doesn’t care about the size. Don’t tell anyone, especially Mustafa. He asks if they are separating. Hacer says she has to disappear for a while. Sami asks did he beat you? Did he do something to you? Hacer just wants Sami to do what she asked. He goes.

Fatmagul #43 part 6

Hacer asks the maintenance man if he saw Musto. Yes, he went in a van with other men.
Musto’s interrogation begins. Musto states his innocence. He wants his lawyer [how about Munir?] The cop says his friend Serdar said he had the boat out that night. So what? I made a quick trip, Musto says. The cop tells him cooperate with us and you can leave. All you have to do is confess. If you don’t it will be worse for you. Musto wants his lawyer.

Your lawyer will come, the cop says, but first we will bring your wife. Musto is alarmed, why are you bringing her here? Leave her alone. The cops leave the room.
Kerim is taking Fatma to a good restaurant he knows. He hopes it’s still there, it’s been a long time since. Fatma asks, were you there with Kristen? Kerim smiles and pauses. He says he was there with his mother and father, they were on vacation. He says he doesn’t remember coming with Kristen but he would come here whenever he came to Istanbul. Why did you remember Kristen now, he asks? Are you jealous? My God… it was just a question, Fatma says.

Meltem gets a call from an unknown number. She tells Gaye to answer. It’s Hacer. She’s sorry to bother Meltem, she asks her if she’s in Istanbul. No, but she’s getting ready to move there. Hacer says she’s looking for Mustafa. She’s worried, the Yasarans might be up to something. Meltem suggests she call the police. Hacer thinks that’s not necessary. Call ends. Gaye questions Meltem, why did she call you? Does she know about you and him? Meltem wants to drop the subject forever. There’s nothing between us.
Someone comes to Hacer’s door. She looks surprised.

Resat searches everywhere for Yasemine’s evidence, with no luck. He complains to Selim about Peri’s betrayal. Selim thinks she’s bluffing.

Erdo stalks Dr. Nil while she’s jogging. [she needs to run as fast as she can] Did he talk her into having dinner with him?

Cut: Fatma and Kerim make it to the restaurant just in time, it starts to pour rain. Kerim orders some plates and says they are here celebrating their anniversary. The man congratulates them and wishes them many happy years. Kerim answers, inshallah.
Fatma says the place is beautiful. Kerim says it would be better if it didn’t rain. This weather has it’s own beauty, Fatma replies, you can see all the colors of Autumn. Kerim says I didn’t want to hurt you but you know why I’m angry. Fatma says, you are angry with yourself and you take it out on me. Kerim says he doesn’t want to argue. Let’s just talk.

He says that call today was very important and you defended him again. Then I won’t tell you anything if you won’t believe me that I’m not in love with him, Fatma answers. Kerim says he can’t control himself. Convo is interrupted by the man bringing their drinks.
Fatma says she defended him (Musto) because I know he didn’t do it. He’s not a murderer. I know him.

Kerim says, Vural begged me to kill him that night. He begged me crying. If Mustafa was there after me, and if Vural begged him, too, what if Mustafa was brave enough to do it? What if he took his revenge? Fatma answers, if he was so brave, he would have shot you. Didn’t you put a gun in his hand and tell him to kill you? He had another chance, he could have killed us both, but he didn’t. [who shot Kerim then?]

Kerim tries again. Who do you think would be happiest if I go to jail? He set that trap for me. The footsteps from the sea belong to him. Then why did they tell you and not the police, she asks? It’s important information. Fatma thinks it could be the Yasarans that want to blame Mustafa. Kerim admits that Fatma has a point. She says thank you.

Fatmagul #43 part 7

Back to the interrogation. They tell Mustafa that Hacer squealed on him. He doesn’t believe it. He sticks with his story, he’s innocent. We told your wife that you confessed and she started crying and spilled. She told us everything. You were making plans to go abroad, right? When she figured that she could be arrested for helping you, she told us everything.

Mustafa breaks down… it was an accident, he says. I didn’t want to kill him, I swear it was an accident. The cop says tell me what happened that night from the beginning. Musto’s confession is recorded.

Leman is with Hacer. She asks if Mustafa knows about the baby? Hacer lies. Is he happy? Hacer lies. Enjoy it, Leman says, it’s yours now. Enjoy it while you have it. Doorbell rings. Hacer thinks it Mustafa but it’s Semsi. He’s ticked. Leman tells Hacer they should keep in touch. Semsi apologizes to Hacer.

Cut: Kadir made salep (a hot milk drink) and brings some for Meryem. It was his wife’s recipe. Kadir says certain scents, like cinnamon, coffee, vanilla always remind him of home. Meryem agrees. And she talks about her mother preparing things for her in the morning. Kadir says, and you knew they were being prepared. I felt the love, Meryem says, my day would have a happy start. That’s what I did for Kerim as well. She gets teary. She apologizes. Kadir says it makes him feel important that she can cry with him. Meryem says what is she going to do about Kerim. How can she stay when he doesn’t even look me in the face? Kadir assures her it will be fine.

Meryem says maybe it’s time. Even if he was my son, we would have to separate to our own houses oneday. If things were different, I still would have been in my hometown. I chose to come here to help Fatmagul recover. Kadir says Fatma needs her. Not anymore, Meryem says. She is more stronger and more durable than I thought. She doesn’t need me. But what if I do, Kadir tells Meryem. Meryem takes a breath. Kadir adds, what if we all do? He touches her hand, if you leave, a part of us will be missing. Rahmi and family come home and Muka immediately asks if they are interrupting anything. End cut.

Kerim tells Fatma he didn’t eat fish as a kid. It made him sad to look at their eyes. Meryem cleaned the fish for him. Fatma asks if he was spoiled. Yes, when it came to eating. Kerim asks about her. Fatma says [Turkish] no one watched over what we ate when we were kids. My mother was always tired and sick. Fatma asks Kerim about school. Kerim says he was lazy. Meryem would make sure he finished his work.

Fatma says she dedicated herself to you. Fatma asks if Meryem ever fell in love. Kerim says she probably told Fatma already. Nope, she didn’t. He says Meryem was going to get married but they canceled the engagement. When they broke up she said she never loved him anyway. But I would see her crying sometimes. Fatma asks why didn’t it work out? The man’s mother didn’t want a woman with a kid and Meryem abla didn’t give up on me. So it is because of me, Kerim says. I would hear the neighbors talking about it.

Fatma asks about the man. [Turkish] Kerim says he was going to marry her no matter what but in the end he sided with his mother. Then we heard he married someone else. Kerim adds, she tried not to show it but I could see how sad she was. Fatma tells Kerim he means everything to Meryem. You know, don’t you?

Kerim says, you think we are even now because of the letter? No. I am saying she kept the letter hidden because she cared about you. She wanted to protect you. What would you have done? You would have done the same. You would give that letter to a small child? Kerim replies, he wished he could have loved his father, but he didn’t have the chance.

Fatmagul #43 part 8

That is not Meryem’s fault. Your father left you. So I am right to hate my father, Kerim asks? No, your father had his reasons, which he told you. How was she to know? She thought he wasn’t coming back. Kerim snarky says he understands. My mother didn’t love me and my father abandoned me. What could Meryem abla do?

The man comes back to the table and says the rains have closed the roads.

There was more Yasaran stuff and Erdo and Dr. Nil that was cut. I don’t have time to add those, unless you really care about them.

Kerim calls Meryem. He informs her they won’t be home tonight because of the rain. Kerim asks her if there were any suspicious calls. No. He sends her kisses, and she returns them to the both.

Meryem tells Muka and Rahmi about the call Kerim received.

Musto signs his confession. What will happen now, he asks? We wait for the prosecutor.
Hacer tries to call Mustafa again. He hears the phone. The room is open and he leaves. The building is dark and empty. He calls out, Hacer? Musto follows the sound. Musto goes into a room and picks up his phone. 32 missed calls from Hacer. Musto sees all his paperwork and documents on the table. He realizes something is wrong.

Hacer calls and he answers. She’s home and very worried about him. Hacer, they fooled me, he says. Gotcha… and a laughing Munir along with Resat appear in the doorway. He’s in their hands now.

Kerim’s sister, Deniz, has arrived from Australia. A happy reunion with dad. She asks for her brother right away.

It’s still pouring. The man shows Kerim and Fatma to a cabin. It’s the only room available. Uh, oh. He asks if something is wrong. He saw their wedding rings. Kerim confirms they are married. So enter, he says. Fatma looks worried. They go in. There’s only one bed and a couple of chairs.

Kerim says he will go by the fireplace (in the restaurant) and she can sleep in the bed. Fatma says she’s not sleepy. He can take the bed. Kerim says he will sleep in the chair. He says his bed in prison wasn’t that comfortable either. Fatma is very nervous. Kerim assures her he won’t hurt her. She insists it’s not that, she’s just not tired. Kerim goes out to use the bathroom. It’s weird it’s in a separate adjacent building.

Munir and Resat set the mutually assured destruction blackmail in motion. Hacer calls again and Musto says he will explain everything when he gets home. She presses and he blows up. Hacer thinks about packing then puts the suitcase away.

Deniz talks about how she persuaded her mother to let her come. You can tell this girl is a handful and she loves her father very much. She wants to know when he will call Kerim. We’ll see, Fahr says. Why not now, Deniz asks? We can’t, he replies, first we have to call Meryem. The woman who raised him, she asks? We have to see if it’s convenient. So why don’t we call, she says. Let’s go eat, Fahr tells her. Deniz is disappointed.

Fatma sits at the window. Kerim tries to turn on a heater. Still pouring outside. Fatma yawns. You still don’t want to sleep, he asks? Kerim suggests a game. Something to get to know each other. We know each other, she says. it’s not like that, he says. They will take turns asking each other questions.

Fatmagul #43 part 9

He asks her parents’ names. Sevim and Mehmet.

She asks his primary school teacher and she says hers was like a mother to them when after their parents passed away.

Kerim asks if Fatma looks like her mother. Yes. Then she was beautiful, Kerim says. Fatma says her mother had asthma and she was frail and tired. She was like a porcelain doll. Her parents loved each other a lot. What a pity they are not here, Kerim says. [he would have liked to meet them]

She asks when did he start working. He started to work for Meryem after her mother died. In the summers Meryem let him work a half day. He would boil herbs for her.
Who was your best friend? Fatma says Rahmi and the neighbor’s daughter. Then they moved. She asks about his friend, uh, oh. He says Arif but his father got sent to another city.

Blue is both their favorite color.

They talk about their favorite foods. Pilaf, kofte.

Then stupid Kerim asks, when did you meet Mustafa. She says it’s her turn to ask. No. Kerim waits for his answer. Fatma resists, it will cause an argument. In primary school, she finally says. So you had another friend, Kerim asks. No, we weren’t friends, Fatma says. He would annoy me. Pull my hair and make me cry. Kerim says, he used to pull your hair and then you fell in love?

Fatma is done with the game. She gets one last question, do you still want to break up? No. She allows him one last question, but I can’t be about Mustafa. Ok, he asks, do you love me? She sure didn’t expect that. She can’t speak. He apologizes. I keep forcing you. Kerim zips his jacket and goes out for air in the pouring rain. You go to sleep, he tells her.

Fatma watches at the window as he leaves. She says, “seviyorum”, I love[you].

Kadir and Meryem talk. Three weeks before the trial. Muka eats a snack on the stairs as she listens in. Meryem gets a call. Fahrettin Bey. Sorry to bother you at this hour. Do you have time to talk? My daughter came from Australia. Kerim’s sister. Deniz wants to meet her brother. I know Kerim doesn’t want to see me, but maybe he wants to meet his sister.

Meryem says she can’t tell Kerim that his sister is here. He is still upset with me. I don’t want to talk about that subject. Please understand. She doesn’t let Fahr speak. Kerim and Fatma went on a trip outside of Istanbul. They will be back tomorrow morning. Please call him instead. I’m sorry I can’t help you, Fahrettin Bey.

Meryem tells Kadir Kerim’s sister is here. As if we don’t have enough problems. Meryem gets up and Muka has to scurry away like the rat she is to avoid getting caught. Meryem looks up the stairs and probably figured it out.

And we are out.

Fatmagual

Dondi, Thank you once again! I just love having your recaps to fill in the gaps and give us all the cuts. Thank you once again for taking the time to do this! :) It boggles the mind the things they chose to cut.

So Perihan is now team Fatma, too! In a silent ninja way, but still team Fatma! I like it! I loved her telling Resat, yes, I'm blackmailing you I learned it from you! :) haha

I really didn't understand why both Fatma and Kerim seemed to be still so upset after 'making up' and eating their anniversary cake together...they talked it out, decided to stay together, even decided to create their first happy memory together but then they arrive home super uncomfortable and with Fatma near tears. I thought maybe something was cut that would explain it, but apparently not...I guess they just couldn't shake the bad feelings from before the reconciliation all that easily.

Speaking of reconciliation, Kerim finally sending kisses to Meryem, yay!! I was tired of that strain. Though the scene with Kadir and Meryem was super touching.

Kerim asking Fatma 'why not, was he with you?' was so far over the line! I am surprised Fatma forgave him as quickly as she did but I guess she is just tired of fighting and I can understand that. Kerim is a good guy but he needs to learn to control his temper and also to fight fair if he is going to fight.

It made me laugh how Kerim's last question was 'Do you love me?' So for those of us following at home, one day he says 'I know you don't love me'(while they were in the restaurant talking about divorcing) and the very next day (I'm pretty sure) he is asking, do you love me? Clearly, he doesn't 'know' anything. Except I would assert that he does know that she loves him if he could just allow himself to accept it because there is no way he would be brave enough to ask that question unless a part of him knew the answer. I don't blame him, he's traumatized and confused and working through so many emotions like Kadir said but it's ironic he is cycling through them so quickly. And like I said (I think) yesterday, I like that they are portraying it that way, because that is how emotions feel when you are in the thick of it. I am sure we have all gone through the tidal wave of angst and stress and emotion just to come out on the other side, look back and say 'WTH was I so confused about the truth was obvious!' smh. It's really well done! Have a mentioned I love the writing of this show??

Fatmagul

Dondi, thank you so much for every detail . I understand everything that is unfolding now. When I jumped around watching episodes , I had to mostly rely on the visual to try to figure out what was happening ,and sometimes my interpretation was wrong. YoU are making everything clear the me .

It is amazing how much Fatmagul has grown , and I think that she was so lucky to have kind, caring , positive Maryem come into her life . Likewise, Kerim was blessed to have Meryem and her mother take him in when he was a boy. Bless all the Meryems of the world .

Kerim is now dealing with two traumatizing events...being abandoned as a child and discovering his mothers body and that awful night. That is a lot to deal with. It was sweet when Kerim told Kadir that he was his father. These folks are all helping each other. Kadir has been a great help to the family, and in return, he has gained a family . Since Kadir had his own problems with alcohol , he can support and advise Kerim . So lovely to see these people helping each other...and then there is Muka .....always eavesdropping and invading everyone's privacy. She just had to put on that sweater.

Fatmagul

Darcy, I always enjoy reading your insightful comments on these episodes. We are watching this show and also " Hercai" , but they are different in so many ways . Fatmagul seems so realistic , and Hercai is like a nightmare ...., kind of over the top and campy.

Fatmagul

Thank you, dondi356. Great recap as always.

Thanks for putting the entire conversation between Fatmagul and Kerim in Gul. Nothing there should have been cut. Communication is key. Like Darcy, I couldn't understand why Fatmagul was crying that night after the talk. It must be the fact that he actually said to her he wanted to divorce. Hearing it hurt.

We know Fatmagul is wrong when she says it is impossible Mustafa killed Vural. She still thinks she knows Mustafa, but she should have learned by now that you can expect anything from him. He would have killed Kerim in front of her if not for her heroic efforts.

Hey! She said she loved him! Once he left, but nevertheless.

Herc

The recap will be up later today. My TV reception kept going in and out during the show making it unwatchable. I have to watch online this morning. Thanks for your patience.

One other thought I forgot to include last night. It seems weird to me that when we first met Fahr he had brown hair but he has been a distinguished gray ever since! It's like he dyed his hair brown to impress for that first meeting with Kerim and then just thought, nah nevermind! Lol I like the gray better.

Fatmagul

If you have seen Friday's episode, this scene was cut. It is in Turkish, seviyorum.

Fatmagul

Darcy, yes , I thought it was odd that when we were first introduced to Kerim's dad, he had his hair dyed dark , but then later he was a silver fox. My father in !aw used to use Grecian Formula to darken his gray hair until it turned his hair green . I think be looks much handsomer with white hair.

Hercai

Halimacandy, thank you for the information ! Barack !

Fatmagul

Lucio, I had a feeling but you confirmed it! My goodness how could they possibly choose to cut THAT??? It's official those editors have no idea what this show is even about! Unbelievable..

Thanks for the links!

Fatmagul

Did you jump the gun on my recap, Lucio? I can't blame you!

This was one the biggest scenes in the whole damn dizi!!! This is a disgrace!

Do you still want a recap of Friday's show? I can have one up tomorrow.

Herc S2 #33 part 1

Melike comes to Reyyan, who is out on the terrace crying. I’m not ok, Rey says. Melike tells her to get a hold of herself, get back on her feet. How am I supposed to do that, Rey replies, how do I keep moving forward? I feel like I just woke up and know this isn’t a dream. This is a horrible nightmare from which I can’t awaken. Ever since Miran walked out that door 3 days ago, morning has yet to come for me.

Miran is out on his terrace and Firat comes to him. Trouble sleeping, he asks? Firat says they will let him know the route he takes. Are you sure, Firat asks? Miran is sure, he has to do this. I need to tell him the truth. Miran doesn’t know how this will end. Everything was good, he says, we were going to leave. Now another nightmare has fallen upon us.

Firat says he expected the Sadoglus to be here with guns in hand. He doubts their only intention is to take Reyyan away. They must have a plan.

Rey tells Melike, we will not divorce. I will stay married to the man I love. How will you do that, Melike asks? Will they believe you after what Azat said? Rey says she can’t live without Miran’s love. She can’t breathe. I don’t know how it will work, but I will find a way. We are not getting divorced.

Miran tells Firat, we are getting divorced. Reyyan brought up divorce to save me. But she is right. For us to be together, we have to disclose the whole truth. And I have to convince my grandmother (HAG) that I still want revenge. How will you convince her, Firat asks. Miran will find a way. Right now he wants to see Reyyan as soon as he can. But first he needs to take care of something else. Let me know where he goes, he tells Firat.

Melike says your grandpa, your uncle and Hazar Bey… Enough, Melike, Rey cuts her off. I don’t know. Before I do anything I need to see Miran. Melike gets a call from Miran. She passes the phone to Rey. Rey proposes to meet at Sukran’s. She will tell her dad that she wants to talk to her. He trusts her.

Miran waits in his car. He thinks, what will I do to get you to listen to me? To get you to believe the truth? We see Hazar outside the konak. He gets in his car and drives off. Miran follows. A vendor with a cart gets in his way. Once Miran catches up he sees Hazar’s empty car. When Miran gets out, Hazar sneaks up from behind. Why are you following me?

Breakfast at the Aslanbey konak. Sultana starts in with Azize. She has some things on her mind. It’s been three days. Gonul asked, I asked, and we haven’t received a response. You lock us away without telling us what you will do next. What happens if the Sadolgu show up at our door? Don’t they want to punish the man who hurt one of their own?

Have you seen a Sadoglu at our door, Azize asks? That means I took care of the problem. We hear Gonul from the patio, bring a car, immediately. We see Gonul with a big suitcase. I’m going to my father’s hotel. I’m going to live at my father’s hotel because I can’t find peace in my father’s house. My grandmother loses her head and doesn’t bother to give us an explanation.

Azize orders, you are not going anywhere. Then answer my questions, Gonul replies. What happened here that day? I told you what you need to know, HAG says, the rest is my business. Gonul continues, Miran shot Azat, after doing nothing for 40 days. You put us in a car to send us far away. Afterwards, you dress in white as if you’re preparing for death. Later, some men stop us on the road, men who work for you, but for some reason they start threatening each other. Do you have an answer for all that?

Herc S2 #33 part 2

I already answered, be content with that, Azize says. How dare you threaten me like a spoiled child. You haven’t answered anything, Gonul responds. You avoid like you always do. This was your last chance to talk. Goodbye. Sultana calls, Gonul! And she waves at her daughter, good luck, sweetie, clear your mind. Azize shoots an incredulous look over at Sultana. Gonul leaves the konak.

Azize questions Sultana, you never even let her go for a walk, now you approve her leaving? Don’t you fear for your daughter’s life, Azize asks? You have been very worried about the Sadoglu. Sultana says Gonul is not going to an unfamiliar place. The hotel is ours and the employees work for us. Since you have everything under control, there’s no reason to worry. [I guess because Aslan Aslanbey is here]

Sultana tells Azize to enjoy her breakfast. Where are you going? I’m not abandoning you, Sultana says, when your time comes, I’ll be there next to you to witness your journey towards eternal slumber. Anyway, I hope so. And now, since we fear no one, I’ll go to the market. I’ll let myself be seen by everyone and offer peace of mind to the enemy and confidence to our friends.

Mahmut comes to Azize, he’s prepared what she’s asked. It took time to remove them from Aslan’s house, but they will bring it soon. He goes. Azize says Sultana’s time will come, too. I have things to attend to and then I’ll give her the special treatment she deserves.

Hazar asks, this isn’t an ambush? You just want to talk? You expect me to believe? Let me save you time. He takes Miran’s gun, puts it in Miran’s hand and holds it to himself and declares, if you are going to shoot me, look me in the eyes and do it… not like you did with Azat. [here we go again… I think I’ve watched too many dizis]

Miran looks tired of this too. He puts the gun away. I’d have shot you 50,000 times if that was my intention. But it didn’t because that isn’t my goal. I just want to talk if you will listen. Why should I, Hazar replies, what could you possibly tell me? I heard what Azat said, I heard Reyyan, he shouts. You looked them in the eyes and played with us! You took us for fools! I remember every word you said before you shot Azat!

Miran doesn’t deny he shot Azat. But he did it to stop Azize from killing Azat. Hazar laughs, I understand, you will never give up. You will tell whatever lies you must to make us believe you, but it’s over. I won’t let you prey on my compassion again, because you killed the faith I had in you!

Listen carefully, Miran. I told you many times I’d kill you for your actions, but I didn’t because when you kill someone, you’re not only taking the victim’s life, you kill their mother, father, children and siblings! I know that all too well. I, Hazar Sadoglu, say this to your face. If you don’t stay away from my family, I will keep my word and kill you! Understand?! Miran nods.

I don’t fear for my life, Miran replies, but for my love. Keep your promise Hazar Bey, but never forget, I will keep every promise that I made to Reyyan. What promises have you made to Reyyan, Hazar shouts. None matter. You think she will believe you? Will she still love you after what you did to Azat? You want your revenge, but you also want Reyyan. I can’t let either happen, Hazar vows.

Hazar opens his car door. Miran calls out, Reyyan knows everything! She believes me. She threw me out of the konak to save me, not because she didn’t believe. She brought up divorce so no one would touch me.

She knows, a shocked Hazar asks? To keep you alive? Flash back: Hazar asks Rey if she knew Miran shot Azat. No, no, she says, Azat told me. I entered the room and he was hiding there. End flash. Hazar is still angry and won’t listen to anything Miran has to say. Don’t make me keep my promise, he tells Miran. Stay away. Hazar leaves. Miran shouts in frustration.

Herc S2 #33 part 3

That strange fellow with his suitcase knocks on the Sadoglu door again. Melike answers. Nasuh comes, too. Who are you? I’m from town, Merdan Ağa sent me. He sends his regards. Hanife and Handan also come to the door. The fellow continues, he told me to find Nasuh Ağa and say he sent me. Nasuh says that’s fine but Merdan asked a favor for a woman named Seyda. Who are you?

I’m Seyda, the fellow says, but I’m a man, not a woman. After nine sons, I was born and they named me Seyda. Handan and Melike get a chuckle out of that but Hanife is ticked. Him again… she whispers to Melike. Why did you open the door? He’s nothing but trouble. [do you think she will end up falling for this guy with a woman’s name?]

Nasuh tells Seyda to go back to the company. They will send you to the olive groves. Seyda says he knows nothing about olive groves but he knows olives. I’m a cook! Merdan Ağa sent me on purpose. He said Nasuh Ağa had a new granddaughter and I had to feed her. God willing, my presence will be a help. I’m a really good cook, he says.

Handan looks interested. Seyda says he cooks international cuisines, too. Handan wants him to stay. If Merdan sent him, we don’t have to worry if he’s an Aslanbey spy. [look at Hanife’s face] Ok, Nasuh is willing to give him a tryout. Hanife tells Melike she should be afraid she will lose her job, but Melike says it’s Hanife who should be afraid.

Handan finds out that Azat went out early in the morning and she freaks out. She freaks even more when she finds out Nasuh sent him to work. We won’t bow our head to our enemy and show fear, he says. Cihan is pissed, too. Nasuh shuts that down but, somehow this turns into a bash session on Reyyan. She is tag-teamed by Handan and Yaren. At least Nasuh tries to stick up for Rey. She leaves the table.

Rey heads to the terrace and cries. Melike follows. This will never end. They will never stop blaming me or my father, she says. Melike comforts her, this isn’t your fault. Rey tells Melike she wants to go to Sukran’s but she can’t wait any longer for her father. Tell him I went. She takes off.

Azat is at Elif’s grave. [which grave is that now?] Gonul shows up there, too. Azat tells Gonul there’s nothing to fear. He won’t hurt a defenseless person even if they are an enemy.

We see Aslan looking on at a distance. I know this hurts, sister. I know you’ve been through a lot in life. But everything you’ve been through will have been worth it.
Azat has Elif’s diary. He tells Gonul, you are her family. She might have been upset with you, but she loved you a lot. You should have it. I haven’t read it. Why, Gonul asks, don’t you have the courage to read what she wrote about you? No, he replies, I respect her private life. She was the only pure person out of all the Aslanbeys. I thought you might find comfort in it. On second thought, you don’t deserve to read it. Azat wants it back. Gonul pulls it away. You didn’t read it because you’re one of the people who dragged her to her death and you can’t face it, she says. I told you that your compassion wouldn’t do her any good. You didn’t listen.

Azat says it was Azize who killed Elif. He’s not to blame. Her hate will be the cause of my death or someone else’s one day. Don’t worry, I no longer feel that compassion you complained about. Really, Gonul says, is that why you said Miran didn’t shoot you? Were you afraid? Azat says he isn’t afraid of anyone.

Gonul knows he is not a coward and says, but you continue to show compassion to somebody that you don’t know. Be careful. That compassion could lead to another’s death. And you Aslanbeys should learn not to try and kill people, he retorts. He walks away. [I think carmella is right, these two will be a couple. The writers keep throwing them together.]

Herc S2 #33 part 4

Gonul sits and reads Elif’s diary. Aslan watches her. You wanted this so much, she tells Elif. To be reunited with your parents. Now you are with them. Aslan says, soon we’ll be together. Be patient. He gets a text from Sultana: “I’m going to your house, we have to talk.”

Hazar returns to the konak. He heads to Rey’s room. Handan stops him. Have Reyyan and Miran speed up the divorce, she says, we have to get rid of him. He agrees with her.
Hazar pounds on Rey’s door. No answer. The door is locked. Guilty Melike holds the key behind her back. Hazar busts into the room. No Reyyan. Hazar zeroes in on Melike, where is she? Yaren answers, well, uncle, if you want to find Reyyan, find Miran. Hazar thinks back to Miran: Reyyan knows everything, she believes me. She threw me out to save me.

Miran arrives at Sukran’s. He surprises her and she greets him warmly. Where’s Reyyan? He sighs and she knows that’s not good. What happened? Let’s go in and I will explain.

Sultana is at Aslan’s house. He is concerned—my sister is going to live in the hotel? I thought like you at first, Sultana replies, but I convinced myself that it’s the best for Gonul to stay away from that house. Miran and Azize are targets of the Sadoglu. Wouldn’t we feel better if Gonul is far from that house? Plus if she’s far from Miran… Aslan interrupts, her feelings for him would change. Sultana says out of sight, out of mind. You said that your sister lets her feelings get the better of her. This is for the best. We know Miran will never love her.

Mahfuz agrees with Sultana. You said she looked sad at the cemetery. Maybe if she is far from that house of tragedy and far from Miran, she will feel better. As you want mother, Aslan says. He tells Mahfuz to keep eyes on Gonul. He doesn’t want her to have any problems.

Sultana asks what Azize did when she saw him. I’d have thought she’d have a heart attack. But she’s still on her feet. Azize Aslanbey is undemonstrative, he says. What do you mean? She can hide her feelings. She uses her mask well. Her only mask is the hate she feels, Sultana replies. When you finally rip it off, nothing will remain. If she believed jumping off a balcony would displease her enemy, she would do it. Maybe I should tell her I would be displeased. She probably wouldn’t hesitate to jump.

She would be getting off to easy, Aslan says. She has to live and suffer for what she’s done. That gets an “amen” from Sultana. Aslan asks Mahfuz to find a safe place where he and Sultana can meet going forward. Meeting here is getting dangerous. Aslan assures his mother he will fix everything. Sultana fears Azize is plotting something new. She won’t rest until she finds a way to send you away, Sultana tells her son. Be careful, son.

Aslan opens the door and Azize is standing there. Mahfuz grabs Sultana away and puts his hand over her mouth. Surprised to see me, Azize asks? Yes. I never figured you as lacking caution, he replies. You think turning up here is alright? Don’t worry, she says. He tells her he was just going out but come in and I’ll make coffee. She’s not there for coffee, she’s there to get him to leave. Pack your bags. You are going. Mahmut has your plane ticket. The flight is leaving soon. Pack.

You might not have raised me, Azize Aslanbey, but your blood flows in my veins. I don’t like sudden orders. I told you I won’t go and leave you behind. You must leave, she says, the Sadoglus are dangerous. Your life is most important. I can’t let you put yourself in danger. Aslan is firm, he’s not abandoning his family in the middle of a war. He won’t change his mind.

Are you disobeying me, she asks? It’s not disobedience, I just want to be by your side. Okay, I said my piece and listened to yours, Azize says. May God bless your path. She goes. That was a close call.

Herc S2 #33 part 5

Azize’s not giving up. She’s gonna make Aslan go. She gives a large envelope to Mahmut, you know what to do with this. If the Sadoglus find out Aslan did this, won’t they hurt him? They might want to but they won’t, she says, all they want is to make us pay and that is what will happen. They will force him to leave.

Miran explains to Sukran they are back to the beginning. He’s separated from Reyyan and has to start over again. She advises him to let it go and leave with her. [that’s what I say] Azize will be powerless to drag you into her games. I can’t go, Miran says, there is no other way. She asks him not to do it, he’s not like Azize. He can’t play the same games. You are not evil like her, GG says, that’s not you.

Miran says he’s not giving up Reyyan but they have to get divorced. I have to convince Azize I am on her side. She will only reveal her games if she trusts me. [she hasn’t before, so why will she now?] Only then I can know what is really happening. Sukran warns he will have more problem staying by Azize’s side. Please stay away from her.

Reyyan arrives at Sukran’s. The theme plays as ReyMir embrace. Sukran welcomes her in and says Miran told her everything. She goes inside to make tea. Rey takes Mir’s hand and leads him outside the gate. I only said those horrible things so you could walk out of the mansion alive. Divorce was the first thing that came to mind. He knows, she doesn’t need to explain.

We’re not getting divorced, she says. We could talk to my father. He will listen and help us. Miran flashes back to his earlier talk with Hazar. He tells Rey the bad news. He spoke to her father. I tried, he says, but he didn’t believe me. He wouldn’t even listen. Rey still has hope. He didn’t listen because you spoke to him alone. When we both talk to him, he will see I believe you and then he will, too.

Miran sighs, I realized today that it’s impossible. Rey says he’s wrong. My father will believe us, that has never changed. He’s always been on our side and defended our love. I’m sure this time it will be no different. Miran’s not getting with the spirit. Rey continues, I couldn’t take another break up, not even a fake one. He pulls her into a hug.

Here comes Hazar. Melike makes a desperate phone call to Miran. He doesn’t have his phone on him.

Reyyan… I shot Azat, he says, I told your father why I did it but he wouldn’t believe me. And he won’t. We are alone in this. Nobody is going to believe us. We have to keep playing this game. We have to divorce. She can’t accept this. I’ll talk to him, convince him, she cries. This is the only way, Miran insists.

Rey loses it. Fine. Let’s get divorced! Let’s stop seeing each other starting now! And throw away all the effort we’ve put into this! She runs back inside the gate. Miran follows. We see Mahfuz watching from a distance.

Miran asks her to listen. Rey replies, I’m listening but what are you going to say now? I don’t want this! Mahfuz looks upset by what he hears and sees. Only death can separate us, understand? [I hate when a dizi character says this] I understand, she says, and that’s why I know that this game will lead to your death. We can’t act like enemies. That will keep us as targets. How can I live with that anguish? He hugs her again.

Mahfuz is very emotional as he sees this. My daughter, he says. This is all my fault, he sniffles. But I will fix it. I was never there for you, but from now on, I’m going to be a good father to you. [Yowza! He’s her bio dad. Mahfuz has his own agenda for working with Aslan.]

Herc S2 #33 part 6

And here comes Rey’s adoptive daddy. Bio daddy takes note. Reyyan! Hazar rushes inside Sukran’s gate. He slugs Miran. [I enjoyed that too much] Hazar says, I told you if you went near my daughter again, I’d keep my promise to kill you. It’s time to make good on that promise. Hazar draws his gun on Miran. Mahfuz pulls his gun out, too. [who is he aiming at? Hazar?] Miran faces Hazar’s threat. I’m going to kill you, Hazar declares.

Miran says he will keep his promise. Not even your gun will stop me from keeping my word. Rey begs, he’s innocent! No, Hazar says, he is not innocent. He shot Azat but you still believe in him. You call that love?! That is not how love works! This ends now! Mahfuz still has his gun out and says, hija.

We see the shadow of Hazar’s gun on a hanging sheet and hear four gunshots. Rey screams and cries and hold onto the clothesline. Miran! Sukran emerges from the house and gasps. Hazar is still holding his gun out. Miran opens his eyes.

So what happened? Hazar pumped his bullets into a wall. [He’s really no killer.]

We see Asiye has appeared next to Mahfuz. She tells him no, no. Listen to me.

You didn’t keep your promise, Miran tells Hazar. Wrong, Hazar answers, you destroyed the compassion I had in me. Let’s put a stop to this before you end making me a killer.

Mahfuz tells Asiye, Reyyan is my daughter. I wasn’t there for any of what she’s been through, but now I have the chance to witness this, so don’t you dare stop me! Get a hold of yourself, Asiye urges. If you reveal yourself now, you’ll ruin everything. Come, let’s go. If you do this, you’ll never see Reyyan again, you will lose her. He’s distraught.

Hazar looks at Rey, you lied to me. You didn’t care what I said. Don’t try to see him again. He turns to Miran, if you come near my daughter again, the bullets won’t miss next time. Hazar grabs Rey and leads her out.

Miran follows them out and grabs Hazar. Reyyan is your daughter, but she is my wife. Hazar grabs Miran by the jacket, why are you still talking?! Rey pulls him off and shouts, is that what you want, to become a murderer? When will this torment end? It’s over! She grabs the gun in her father’s hand and places it to her heart. You will have to kill me first! I can’t keep living like this. The gun is pulled away.

How can you still be on his side, Hazar asks? Rey says Miran was forced to shoot Azat. Hazar won’t have it. He grabs Rey and takes her to the car.

Sukran shouts, Hazar! You call this being a father? Scaring your daughter and threatening to shoot others? I thought I knew you but I was wrong. Hazar avoids looking at her. She continues, the Aslanbeys took my daughter’s life and now you want to take my grandson’s life.

Sukran Hanım, you are Dilsah’s mother. I respect the place you have in my heart. But please don’t ask me to listen to you now. If you don’t want your grandson to die, make him listen to you. Hazar puts Rey in his car and drives away. Sukran urges Miran not to go after them. Have you considered what would happen to me if you died? This love will end up killing you.

Why did you stop me, Asiye, Mahfuz asks, why? If I hadn’t stopped you, would you have killed Hazar? You saw Reyyan’s face! You saw how devastated she was, he says. Hazar might have been like a father to her, but he has no right to do this. No, Asiye replies, but he’s trying to protect his daughter. Don’t you understand? That’s not protecting her, Mahfuz shouts, it’s pitting her against her family and the man she loves. Don’t forget, I know what that is like. Asiye nods. I’d never let Reyyan do anything she might regret later.

Herc S2 #33 part 7

Fine, Asiye says, don’t let that happen. She takes his gun. This isn’t the way. Asiye adds, if I’m not mistaken, you’ve spoken to the lady. Never forget you have a responsibility to her, like you have with Reyyan. [hmmm…] How can I watch my daughter suffer and do nothing, he asks?

Remember when you told me you found Aslan, Asiye says. You said you told him the truth and he pledged vengeance on his grandmother. I also remember you saying you would use her grandson’s hands to make that woman pay for what she did to Reyyan. Did you forget? Of course not, Mahfuz answers. Then stick to your plan, Asiye says.

How long can I watch Reyyan suffer, he asks? Asiye says, you’re angry with Hazar, aren’t you? Reyyan calls him “dad” and not you. But you left Reyyan on purpose. You owe a lot to that man. Also, if you care about your daughter, and want to be there for her now, then be patient, discover the truth and reveal it. You have to find out why Azize Aslanbey wants revenge. Otherwise, neither your daughter nor Miran will be safe. He nods. Be silent now. She hands him back the gun. We don’t have the luxury of making a mistake.

Miran is still with GG, who is giving him grandmotherly advice. She tries not to cry. Miran tells her he will take care of everything. Miran notices Gul’s doll and picks it up. [that thing has been passed around like a bottle of (alcohol of your choice)] Miran tells GG if it is okay with her to stay here a little longer. She realizes he’s not going to stop and he’s afraid if she’s around she will try to stop him. Someone has to stop Azize, he tells her. Today it was Azat’s turn. Tomorrow it could be Hazar. You understand?

Mahfuz returns to Aslan. He questions where he was for so long, he didn’t answer calls. Mahfuz says he was scouting safe places to meet. Aslan buys it. Why were you calling me, Mahfuz asks? To tell you I was leaving. I’m going to meet with Azat. The time to get close to the Sadoglus has arrived. Mahfuz warns him to be careful. A man guided by his emotions can be dangerous. As Aslan drives away Mahfuz says, I’ll let you get close to the Sadoglus as long as Reyyan is out of danger because Reyyan is my only daughter.

Azize gets a report on Aslan, he’s left the house. Keep watching him, she says. Sultana is listening at Azize’s door. Let’s see if getting close to the Sadoglu is as easy as he thinks, Azize says. She tells Mahmut to go over to the Sadoglus when he’s finished there. Azize is determined to keep Aslan from dying and keeping him far away. Sultana has heard all so she makes a call to Aslan.

Rey returns to the konak, and the divorce papers are waiting for her. She hesitates to sign. Yaren cracks, maybe she changed her mind. Blah, blah, blah. Rey signs. Yaren still can’t keep her mouth shut. [why did they let her back?]

Rey retreats to her room, crying. Melike follows and tells her, you must be stronger than ever now. You don’t know anything, Rey says. You didn’t see what my father did. We get a replay of the gunshots into the wall. Melike doubts that Hazar could kill anyone. Rey says only a miracle could change things now.

Is a miracle coming? Don’t know. But here come, big bad grannie into the Sadoglu konak. Sadoglu Family! Come out! We need to talk! Roaches assemble. Here we go again.
You have the nerve to show up here, Nasuh bellows. Death hasn’t come to you so you are looking for it here? I didn’t come to die here, Azize says, I’ve come to stop death. Hanife sighs and has to sit. Azize holds her arms out. look, I’ve come unarmed and unprotected. Is it fear that has come to you, Nasuh asks? Are you here to beg us not to kill your grandson?

Herc S2 #33 part 8

Azize says she’s seen and been through too much. Why must our grandchildren keep paying for our actions? I am proposing we restore the peace and leave hate behind. It’s best for all. If you want to keep helping our grandchildren, it’s best if the families make peace. Reyyan smiles with hope. Hanife rises from her chair in disbelief. The Sadoglu men trade glances.

I came to offer you peace, Azize says. Whatever your response, as a sign of my good intentions, I’ll no longer make any decisions on the board. I won’t vote anymore. I’ll give you until tomorrow to decide. I’ll be waiting in Midyat Plaza early tomorrow. Your response should be heard by the whole town. She turns and goes.

Rey thinks this is the miracle she wanted. [not so fast.] If my grandpa accepts, this will end the revenge. I won’t have to divorce Miran. Melike agrees, God sent Azize who acted like a saint [the name Azize/Aziz means saint]

Rey calls Mir right away with the good news. I swear it’s a miracle! Your grandmother was here. He’s gotta stop the car for this one. She fills him in on the peace offering. He’s stunned for a second. He asks, what did your grandpa say? He will respond tomorrow in Midyat Plaza. Rey is optimistic that Nasuh will agree, and the revenge will be over. No divorce but she tells him she was forced to sign divorce papers earlier.

Miran says with or without peace, papers or not, nothing has changed. It doesn’t matter what anyone does or thinks. Whatever happens, you are still my wife and I am your husband. Rey says she would still like it on paper. He assures her they and their names will never be separated. She’s happy there’s still hope. Miran says he didn’t expect this. Rey feels this time is different. She trusts it. Miran says, I don’t trust my grandmother, but I do trust your heart. [I still think, not so fast]

Miran thinks, is this the peace offering to save my life, Azize? You weren’t pointing your gun at me, but at Azat. Whose life are you trying to save?

Aslan and Azat meet. Aslan says Azize came to his house and threatened him. Azat gets fired up and wants to make her pay. Aslan says that’s not why he told him. Aslan says that Azat is a merciful man but that it’s a weakness when dealing with people who play dirty. I want no part of Azize or her war in my life, he tells Azat. Azat feels bad about getting Aslan involved. Azize makes the devil look like an amateur. Azat promises, we can protect you.

Aslan says that woman doesn’t scare him. He’s strong enough to fight her. If after all this, you become a killer and kick off a bloodbath. I will regret it [saving Azat, I guess]

Azat asks if Miran has done anything. Aslan thinks back to Miran punching him and drawing his gun. No, Aslan answers. Azat says they are indebted to Aslan. He helped a stranger and his life became chaos. He asks Azat if his dinner invite still stands. Of course, if you want, come tonight. After Azat leaves, Aslan says, you bowed to our enemy to get me to leave, grandma. I’m on the right path.

Miran confronts Azize. What’s up? First you shoot Azat, then you offer peace? I made Nasuh an offer, she replies. You can’t hide from this, Miran says, I’m talking to you. Azize doesn’t turn, doesn’t respond and goes up the konak stairs. Why this peace talk, Miran asks? Why did you go to them?

Azize finally turns to face Miran and fires off. Because I sent a car to get Gonul and Sultana. I told you to start a new life. I told you to save them and save yourself and the rest was my problem. But what did you do? You groveled before the enemy like an idiot. If you’d listen to me, we wouldn’t be dealing with this problem. We see Gul’s doll being brought into the konak.

Herc S2 #33 part 9

Azize declares, I did it to keep you alive, to keep all of you from dying! Azize continues climbing the stairs. Miran says, if you care so much about keeping us alive, why did you make me shoot Azat? Why did you silence me when this Aslan showed up? Why didn’t you want the Sadoglus to know that I was the one who almost killed Azat? Why fight for survival yet bring the enemy to our door? Why?! Why?!

Azize faces Miran again, because I spent years of my life formulating a smart plan. I was going to get revenge with my own hands and I was willing to pay for it! but you didn’t let me. You ruined my plan.

Me? I ruined your plan, Miran asks. You were standing in the middle of the patio that day, dressed in white because you planned to die? That’s right, Azize replies. I risked my life to save my grandchildren’s. But what did you do? You ruined it, you came back. Now that family has found this Aslan character and begun a new game. There’s no way out for us!

Esma says a lawyer is here to see Miran. It’s the divorce papers. Miran signs. Azize says there was no reason to sign quickly. If Nasuh accepts the peace offering, you will have no reason to divorce. Miran says with or without peace, I’m divorcing Reyyan. You took on death to save your beloved, Azize says, yet you are divorcing when there’s a chance at peace? Yep.

She doesn’t understand. Was this love of yours just empty words in the wind? My love and my hate are real, he says. I want revenge without losing Reyyan. If you would have waited a little longer, I would have killed Hazar not once but a thousand times. He would have lost his dignity, his family and his loved ones. I was going to eliminate him off the face of the earth. But you stopped me because you thought I forgot my parents.

He gets in Azize’s face. Even if they accept your offer tomorrow, the hostility won’t end. Stop protecting me. Take your shadow off me, that’s all I ask. Azize responds, your grandmother is not your shadow, your love is. Then let this love prove itself, Miran says, from now on we do things my way. So be it, dear grandson, Azize replies. We’ll do it your way this time. Azize says to herself, this peace was supposed to protect Aslan, but this could work.

Azat arrives home. They tell him that Azize was here. She was here to threaten Aslan, he asks? What? That’s news to the other Sadoglus. Harun listens intently. Azat informs them that Azize thinks Aslan works for us and she threatened him in his own house. See, that’s what we should expect from her, Nasuh says, she came here for peace but went to Aslan to threaten.

Now Azat is confused. Azize came here for peace? Hazar fills him in. Nasuh tells Azat his father wants to make peace. Cihan says we know that’s not her true intention but accept it for now. We will see what she’s planning and we will buy time to counter. Nasuh doesn’t see it the same way. Hazar jumps in to back Cihan. If Azize is planning something, it’s better to accept and maybe we can ruin her game. Azat adds, and not spill anymore blood.

We are your sons, we would never want to stain our name. Think dad. Nasuh comes around. Cihan questions his father. What was the difference between what my brother and I said that he convinced you? What else did I have to say besides saving my son’s life?
Nasuh says don’t push it. If you want peace you will get peace. I accept it. What more do you want? That’s what I want, Cihan replies, I don’t want anyone in my family to die or become a killer. Cihan walks.

Herc S2 #33 part 10

Azize is out on the terrace. We see Miran and Firat talk outside the konak. Azize says to herself, oh my Aslan. This is the time to wait. But once Aslan is far away, safe and sound, then you and all your lineage will pay, Miran. I will make them pay a thousand and one times. Mahmut appears. If you have bad news don’t tell me anything, she says. It’s good news, he says, the envelope is on its way. Let’s see what the Sadoglus do when they receive the envelope, dear Aslan.

Delivery for Azat. The man you were with today forgot this envelope and we don’t know where to send it. So my boss said, bring it to Azat. Azat takes the envelope and pictures fall out. They are pics of Reyyan and pics of the entire family. The roaches gather around. Who took these? Azat says I was with Aslan in the café. The boy who works there brought them. Aslan forgot them there. Why does he have these photos?

There’s a knock at the door. It’s Aslan coming for dinner. Azat rushes him. Why do you have these photos? Who the hell are you? Harun looks on helplessly. Azat gives Aslan a good shake and waits for a response. Reyyan thinks back to talking to Miran about Aslan’s pics. Cihan accuses, you work for Azize! Nasuh steps in and grabs Aslan by the collar. Who are you? I’ll strangle you with my own hands! Did Azize send you to us? Hanife looks worried.

Aslan pushes him away. Okay, Nasuh Ağa, I’ll tell you who I am. It makes no sense to hide the truth. Since things have reached this point, you have a right to know the truth. The day they hurt Azat, I didn’t show up by coincidence. I wasn’t hunting, I was following your grandson. What do you mean, Nasuh asks, who sent you?

I was following Azat because I am searching for my family, Aslan says. I never knew my family. An old man raised me and was my father. His wife was my mother. Until I found out I was adopted. I never knew my family, my lineage.

The only thing I knew is I came from an old family in Midyat, Aslan says. At first I was angry. I didn’t want the family that got rid of me. But my curiosity was stronger. I wanted to find out why they abandoned me, what was the reason. I wanted to believe my family hadn’t intentionally left me. Maybe I was kidnapped on the day I was born. Maybe my family looked for me but couldn't find me. The orphan in me always wanted this. I thought, maybe they won’t find me, but I could find them.

Nasuh asks, who told you we could be your family? Why did you think that? Someone sent an anonymous letter, Aslan replies. One day I came here. I looked at all the old families here. I investigated you and that’s why I have the pictures. I thought you could be my family. I wanted to get to know you and speak to you that day. That’s why I was following you. You know the rest of the story.

Hazar asks, have you investigated the Aslanbeys? He nods. See the look on Hanife’s face.

And we are finally out!

Fatmagul

Dondi, if you are willing, I would personally be very grateful for a recap of yesterday's episode. It felt very choppy and I highly suspect there were several more cuts! Plus, I would love to know what was actually said since the YouTube videos are in Turkish. I really appreciate all your hard work in sharing with us!!

Fatmagul

Dondi356, I put the cut scene as a kind of public service to avoid someone scratching their head trying to figure things out. I tried to have no comment. Didn't mean to show discourtesy or discourage you from doing a recap. Yes, please.

herc

Another blockbuster episode and dondi356 recap! Thank you!

I love it! Everyone is creating waves in the Azize plan of revenge! Gonul, Sultana, Hazar, Miran, Reyyan, Aslan and now Mahfuz! What a great reveal that was! Totally unexpected! I finally noticed his extra curly hair, did not make that connection before the big reveal.

Who is “the lady” that Ayise was talking about? Is she the real puppet master/note information provider? Could it be long lost Tia Fusun? We have speculated that Dilsah could be alive. Is it possible that she is "the lady?"

The shooting scene with Hazar and Miran was a bit intense. Glad to see that Hazar isn’t a real killer. I did laugh when Hazar was so shocked that Reyyan lied to him, please, spare me.

I have to raise the BS flag with the Gul dolly! Last time we saw the doll, Reyyan rescued it from the Esma casa before Elif died. How did it end up at Good Grannie’s new house? The doll survived the fire? Now the doll is sitting on the bench at the Aslanbey konak. I hope Esma re-finds the letter! BTW dondi356, I think you remember that my libation of choice is tequila, so that was what I inserted in the “pass the doll around” drinking game.

The Thoroughbred Stallion sure did look mighty fine in his blue suit! I noticed the color blue was quite prevalent in this episode. Aslan is a smooth liar for sure. Hanife and Harun both looked very, very concerned and then relieved.

It is nice to have some new story lines and characters, including the clowny looking cook, added to the mix. Thank you dondi356! You covered every inch of that episode and I really do appreciate it!

fatmagul

I'm not upset at all Lucio! I meant to put a little winky smile in there! It wasn't a spoiler because you let people know it was for those who already saw Friday's show.

I knew this scene was coming and I hoped that Uni would keep it intact. This is so disappointing. Like I mentioned, this is one of the most important scenes in the entire show! How could they do this to us?

Please keep sharing. I appreciate any additional info. This show is great and has a great patio to match!

My recap including important cuts, will be up tomorrow. I'm sorry for delays, but sometimes my real life gets in the way!

Herc

Thank you, dondi356.

I question why Reyyan has to stay in that prison of the Sadoglu konak to be abused and I am sure slapped again. She is a married woman. Has been married for a while. If she has disagreements with her husband she can separate, even file for divorce, come to an agreement about financial support from her husband, get herself a house and live there. She doesn't need to take orders from Nasuh, Hazar, Cihan, Handan etc. She gets no respect. I bet she is treated much better in the Aslanbay konak. Who would dare slap her there?

Fatmagul

Dondi, I love your recaps and am looking forward to the next one .

herc

Thanks very much, dondi356, for this extraordinary recap. I have nothing to add, just a few questions. One has already been asked by VVS: who is the "lady" that Ayise mentions?

Also, I thought that Cihan had found Elif's diary. So why does it seem as if Azat has given it to Gonul? I bet that it isn't the diary that Cihan found! The diary Cihan found on the floor in Elif's room was old and battered, whereas the one that Azat gave Gonul looks pristine. And, if I recall correctly, Cihan thought it contained some dynamite revelations, whereas Gonul sits and reads it calmly. If Elif kept a diary, it's likely that there was more than one volume.

The revelation that Mahfouz is Reyyan's bio daddy really surprised me. But that also got me wondering whether many of those photos of Reyyan that we saw on the wall in Aslan's house were perhaps Mahfouz's. He would have every reason to take photos of Reyyan. My current thought is that most of the Reyyan photos are Mahfouz's, but Aslan also has photos not just of Reyyan but of other Sadoglus as well, so he'll know who they are. Yeah, it seems a bit far fetched even to me, but so too does the notion that Aslan has an obsession with Reyyan--and if he does, why does he also have pictures of other Sadoglus as well?

Interesting that Ayise is connected somehow to Mahfouz. Is she his wife? She seems quite smart and capable.

I also found it interesting that Ayise reminds Mahfouz that he plans to use Azize's grandson (presumably Aslan) to make her pay for all the pain she has caused Reyyan, just as Azize had planned to use Hazar's son to make the Sadoglu clan pay for the harm and deaths she believes they have caused.

Finally, I have no idea what to make of Seyda the cook. Can he really be just a cook? Are the writers playing with us by making us think he must be something more? ¡Ya basta!

Hercai

Dondi, thanks for every detail of this tale that I find more and more confusing.

Surprise ...here's Rey's biodad. Azz told Rey she knew who her biodad was . I wonder if that was true or a bluff.

And those two popular lines that we hear over and over. " I am going to ki!! You." " I am going to divorce you."

Is Zehra ever going to return ?

Fatmagul #44 part 1

Fatma is awake, in the chair looking out the window. It’s still raining hard.

Muka is awake too, she grabs her phone. Meryem asks her what are you doing? Who are you calling? Muka says she’s worried about Fatmagul. Meryem says don’t worry, they should be asleep. In the same bed, Muka smiles. Let’s call. I just want to know what they are doing. Meryem tells her not to mention that Kerim’s sister is here. [which is like giving her permission to do it]

Fatma answers. Muka says I hope I didn’t wake you. No. And Kerim? What’s up, Fatma asks, why are you calling? I couldn’t sleep, Muka says, and it’s not because of the pregnancy. I am worried about you. Fatma tells her to turn on the TV, then she will fall asleep. Muka asks, if you are not sleeping at this hour, what are you doing? Meryem whispers, shame. Good night, Mukaddes, with that Fatma hangs up. Fatma looks out the window again. Watching for Kerim.

Cut: Meryem tells Muka she gets on her nerves. There’s no one else quite like you, you are one of a kind. Muka says they are fooling us. Just wait until her belly starts to swell. Meryem scolds, if you stop thinking of mischief just one day, I’ll believe it’s the end of the world. But you can’t stop. Muka wants credit for not spilling the beans about Kerim’s sister. Good for you Meryem says.

Erdo is talking to Nil. Looks like she’s doing some research on him. How long will it be before she finds the scandalous stuff? Nil agrees to go to dinner with him again. Perihan listens at the door.

Cut: I got my answer to above question. Nil finds one of the scandalous articles.
Munir and Resat transport Mustafa home. Munir says, you will keep your word, right? You will not let your wife talk. Convince Meltem and get Fatmagul out of our way. Understand? Musto reluctantly says it’s a deal. See you tomorrow, Resat says. Munir and Resat feel relieved.

Mustafa comes in and Hacer goes to him. She was so scared. What happened? The Yasarans trapped me. I told them everything, he cries.

Kerim is sitting by the fire in the restaurant, trying to get warm. Fatma finds him there. Why didn’t you come back to the room, she asks? I’m trying to get warm. He’s soaked. She tells him to go change his clothes, she will wait here. Kerim says no. She says she will find an iron or blow dryer. He tells her not to worry about him. Fatma says he will get sick. Kerim is already sniffling. He says he’s fine and tells her to go to sleep. It will stop raining and they will leave early in the morning. She turns to go, and he sneezes. She finds a blanket to put over him. She leaves.

Mustafa tells Hacer they have our passports, I have to do what they tell me. Go to the police, Hacer says. Don’t humiliate yourself. He says that’s ridiculous. You will be a slave, she says, you will be in chains for the rest of your life. Do you know what will happen, he asks? If you turn yourself in, you will serve your sentence and you won’t suffer any more.

No, no, no! I will not go to prison, Mustafa says. I’ll have to find another way. But I won’t do that. If I’m screwed then so are you, he tells her. If they think you helped me, you could go to prison, too. What if I go to the police now, Mustafa? If you do that I’ll kill you.

Cut: Hacer texts Sami and sneaks away with him in the middle of the night.

Storm is over and the road needs to be cleared. Trees are down. Kerim is helping. Fatma calls and he tells her. Then they can leave. She says he sounds like he is already sick.

Musto finds out that Hacer split. She left a note: please don’t try to call me. don’t come after me. Don’t condemn me to this slavery.

Fatmagul #44 part 2

Sami and Hacer have breakfast at a hotel. He has temporarily booked a room there under his name for Hacer. Sami wants to know what is going on, but Hacer says this is more complicated and worse than you think. She doesn’t want him to get into trouble. And what a coincidence, she’s at the same hotel as Fahrettin.

At breakfast, Fahr tells Deniz he has some business to take care of in the morning. Mumtaz can drive her around the city in the meantime. Will we see my brother today, she asks? He doesn’t know. Fahrettin goes and he’s left his phone on the table. Deniz decides to make a call to Kerim. He doesn’t pick up when he sees it’s Fahrettin.

Fatma decides to take a walk. [BTW, that other tourist, speaks English, they cut out most of her scenes with Fatma.]

Fahr comes back to retrieve his phone. He knew Deniz would try to call Kerim. He tells her to be patient. If she keeps this up, he won’t want to see her and she will have come for nothing. She asks him why Kerim doesn’t take his calls. He tells her again to have patience. Deniz says, I don’t know what he looks like, but he’s stubborn like you. Fahr gives his daughter a pat and says, not like me, like you.

Fatma walk on a trail through the woods. She calls Meryem. They will come back soon. Kerim is helping to clear the road.

Kerim gives the man who runs the place a ride back. Kerim sneezes. The man says, you got sick, you sat there all night in wet clothes. Didn’t you like the room? No, it’s not like that, Kerim says. I didn’t want to bother my wife. Bother her? Weren’t you celebrating your anniversary?

Yes, Kerim replies, but we have a complicated situation. You’re not married? Yes, we are, but we didn’t have a wedding yet. The man asks if the family didn’t approve. Something like that, Kerim says. Her family must be worried, he answers. Maybe they are after you. I hope they don’t come here with guns. I hope you are kidding, Kerim says. Her family was kind of like that but now they have accepted me. When is the wedding, he asks? In the spring, inshallah, Kerim replies.

Fatma hangs up her phone. And she comes across an odd fellow, who asks, do you have one? You have any? Give me! Fatma is frightened and starts running. The man chases her. He says don’t run. Fatma falls and starts shouting for help. Kerim comes running and slugs the guy a few of times. Fatma falls again and becomes hysterical.

The man with Kerim stops him. Leave him alone! He’s harmless! He always asks for cigarettes and food. He lives here, we all know him. We try to help him. He’s poor.
Kerim runs to Fatma. She’s on the ground still hysterical. She flinches when Kerim goes to touch her. He puts his hand out to her, she’s too scared to take it.

Munir calls Musto to check in. Musto is furious and Munir laughs. Musto tells him Hacer left him. He says he doesn’t care as long as Musto can keep her from talking. Munir thinks Musto is lying. Musto keeps insisting that Hacer is gone, and it begins to sink in with Munir. The end of this scene is cut: Munir warns Musto he must find Hacer for his sake. Musto gets angry and throws some stuff around. He tries calling Hacer. He notices something he threw on the floor, it’s ultrasound pics of a baby and a receipt of some sort.

Cut: The closing on Hilmiye’s house is today. She tells Erdo she has a bad feeling about it. Erdo tells his mother he fell in love. He doesn’t want to hear her say he doesn’t have the right to love anyone. She is surprised and happy for him. If he loves her, she will love her, too. Erdo says this is the first time he has had such feelings for a girl. He’s thinking of the future, he wants to change. He wants to be a good guy.

Fatmagul #44 part 3

Nil calls and cancels dinner with Erdo. She wants nothing more to do with him. She found the articles about him on the internet. He tries to tell her it’s all lies. That’s it for her, she’s done. But is Erdo? He bolts from the house. He cries in his car.

Fatma tends to her cut knee in the truck, while Kerim apologizes to the man he beat. Kerim gives him money. Kerim gets in the truck and tells Fatma the man was afraid of her too. Does it hurt much, he asks? She shakes her head and starts to cry again. Kerim asks, didn’t you realize how he was? Fatma says she didn’t have time. He came out of nowhere. I got scared and when I ran he followed me. It’s over now, Kerim says. It felt like that night, she says, I can’t get it out of my mind. She sobs, let’s go home.

Musto has the paper he found from Hacer’s doctor. He calls and says he’s Hacer Nalcali’s husband. When is her next appointment? He gets the info.

Fahr gets a knock on his door. Room service with his coffee. He didn’t order coffee. Oops, it’s the next room over, which happens to be Hacer’s room.

Mumtaz is giving Deniz a tour of Istanbul. She asks him how long he’s lived in Istanbul. He’s lost count. He’s been here since he was a kid. Deniz knows Mumtaz and her dad were childhood friends. He told us about some of the naughty things you did together. He was always my best friend, that never changed when I came to Istanbul, Mumtaz says. We always wrote each other. We met as adults when we had the chance. We kept in touch even when your father went to Australia.

Deniz says Mumtaz is the only person her father trusts. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have you taking care of his business in Turkey. Mumtaz says the trust is reciprocal. He has always helped me. Your father is a gentleman, Mumtaz tells her. Deniz knows. He’s the best, she says.

Deniz asks about the sites they will visit. She has an idea. How about we visit my brother first? Mumtaz nixes the ides. It’s not what your father said. Deniz is dying of curiosity. Please take me, she asks, my father doesn’t have to find out. Mumtaz is not going to do anything behind Fahr’s back. Call him and ask, if he says yes, I’ll take you. Deniz knows he will say no. Then don’t pressure me, he says.

Deniz doesn’t give up. But Mumtaz stands firm. He tells her we don’t even know what your brother’s reaction will be. What if he gets angry and calls your father? He will find out and blame me. Deniz changes tack. I won’t even let him see me. It’s not like he’d recognize me. I want to see my brother and his wife. Please, please, please. Mumtaz says she’s behaving like a spoiled girl [no kidding] He’s getting annoyed [and so am I] Deniz refuses to give up. Will Mumtaz give in?

Kerim and Fatma arrive home. Muka just happens to be in the entry hall. She sees Fatma’s knee and the mud and gasps. Kerim says the car got stuck in the mud and we tried to push it. At least you arrived ok, Muka says, it’s incredible how you two find problems. I don’t need a lecture, Fatma tells her. You should be ashamed to walk through the streets like this. And you Kerim, why did you let her push the car? The look on Kerim’s face is his comment.

Fatma begins to cry and hurries upstairs. Muka persues her, something else happened, tell me, tell me. Leave me alone, Fatma says. She goes into the kitchen to get something to clean her knee. Muka says to let her help. [she could help by leaving] You don’t even want me to help, Muka says as she sits at the table with Fatma. But here’s what she really wants to know: [Turkish] was it a flirting accident? You know like it happens in the movies, a “catch me if you can” thing?

Fatmagul #44 part 4

Fatma says she’s really tired, don’t make it worse. Ok, Muka says, I’ll be quiet. Kerim comes up the stairs and sneezes. Muka tells him “çok yaşa” - live long. Kerim says thank you and Muka scolds, you’re supposed to answer “hep beraber” – all together. Fatma tells him to take some medicine. But Kerim says he will shower first, he has to get to work.

Muka says don’t be such in a hurry, I have excellent news. Kerim ignores her and tells Fatma to stay home and rest. And that’s what she intends to do. Muka tries again, she asks Kerim if he wants to hear the news. No, he doesn’t care. She turns to Fatma, let me tell you. Fatma says she doesn’t want to know and goes to her room. How rude, Muka says.

Deniz has talked Mumtaz into staking out Gul Mutfağı. That’s not good enough for Deniz, she says they are too far away to see anything. She says she’s hungry and hops out of the car. There’s no stopping her. She walks in as Mehmet walks out. He takes a nice long look at her he leaves. Mumtaz notices and says [Turkish] hey, keep your eyes to yourself.
Deniz enters and looks around. Deniz orders börek, to go. Meryem tells her to sit.

Fatma calls the restaurant. Deniz listens in. Fatma says is there a problem if I stay home this afternoon? No… I’m a little tired, Fatma says. Muka listens and says, tell her, tell her you are hurt. Ha, ha, Fatma closes the door on Muka. How is Kerim, Meryem asks? Deniz perks at hearing his name. She gets her börek and pays. Meryem tells Rahmi that Fatma is staying home today, she’s tired. Deniz takes note and leaves.

Deniz fills Mumtaz in. She thought at first the woman inside was Kerim’s wife. Then she heard the other man call her. Why do they call her “Ebe Nine”? Mumtaz says he will explain later, let’s get out of here now. He’s worried about Fahr finding out what they did. Now Deniz starts to work on Mumtaz to take her to her brother’s house. He won’t even be home she says. I just want to see where they live. No. Will Mumtaz give in again?

Cut: Erdo stalks Nil at the hospital. He wants to talk. I guess I didn’t explain myself good enough she says, I don’t want to see you anymore. He swears it’s all lies and slander. She doesn’t want to hear it. She says she will call security. He grabs her arm and begs her to give him another chance. She threatens to go to the prosecutor to file charges and leaves.

Kadir shows up at the Namli’s. He apologizes for showing up unannounced. Do you have a few minutes? Don’t bother us, Semsi says. We need your help, Kadir says. it’s necessary to talk about your statement. Semsi is adamant, leave us alone. Leman comes to the door. Kadir says, [Turkish] I know your pain is great. I’m deeply sorry, believe me. So don’t come here and make it worse, Semsi replies and starts to close the door.

Kadir says you owe Fatmagul and I want you to pay it. Semsi tries to close the door again, but Kadir blocks it. You have to accept your son committed a crime, no matter how painful it is. Semsi raises his hand and shouts, leave! Leman stops Semsi. We found you gave false testimony in court, Kadir tells them.

You said the accused were at your house all night. But you weren’t home. You weren’t even in the country. It’s easy enough to find out the customs records of your departure and return. It’s not true, Semsi says, leave. Kadir says it’s a crime to lie in court. Vural wanted to confess, why do you deny it. Semsi says don’t you dare say my son’s name.

Fatmagul #44 part 5

He was going to confess, Kadir continues, but they wouldn’t allow him. The guilt was too much for him, that’s why he asked Kerim to kill him. Leman gasps. What are you talking about, Semsi says, get out of here! Semsi leaves the door. Kadir tells Leman, please tell the truth in the trial. It’s what your son wanted. Semsi comes back with some kind of metal rod [fireplace poker?] and threatens violence. Kadir leaves. Semsi chases him, don’t come back or I’ll kill you, Semsi shouts.

Kerim knocks on Fatma’s door. He tells her he’s going to work. Are you okay, he asks? Yes. He tells her to rest and don’t forget to call the doctor. Make it for the evening and I can take you, he says. Don’t worry I can go by myself, she replies. Kerim looks to see if Muka is listening. He says, I want us to go to therapy as well. I want to talk to the doctor. We have to get over this. We have to do it together. She’s happy to hear this.

So Deniz talked Mumtaz into staking out her brother’s house. She’s disappointed it looks like no one is home. Mumtaz starts the car and is ready to drive off when Deniz sees Kerim come out the front door. No, no, no, don’t go, she says. Deniz jumps out of the car and walks up to Kerim as he leaves the gate. Fatma watches from the balcony.

She asks Kerim, do you know where Mumtaz street is? Kerim doesn’t know and starts to walk away. Sorry, I thought you would know this neighborhood. Kerim says he’s only been living here a short time. She asks if he knows a bakery around here. Kerim doesn’t know.
Muka joins Fatma on the balcony. Are you watching your husband? Who is she, Muka asks? No idea.

Kerim excuses himself, he has to get to work. She notices he is shaking and puts her hand on him. Are you sick, she asks? He takes his arm away and gives her a wary look. He walks away from her. Muka realizes who this girl might be—Kerim’s sister.

Deniz calls out, brother? Kerim turns around. It’s me, Deniz. He’s floored. Fatma quickly heads outside. Deniz says, I came a long way to meet you.

Mumtaz is explaining the situation to Fahrettin. She tricked me. They are talking now. Kerim doesn’t seem bothered.

Deniz continues, [Turkish] for years, I’ve heard my father talk about you. I was looking forward to meeting you. And I’m finally here. Please don’t refuse me. I have nothing to do with what happened in the past. You shouldn’t be angry with me. Please. Fatma calls, Kerim? Deniz turns to her, hello, you are Fatmagul, right? Fatma nods. I am Deniz, Kerim’s sister. Kerim is absolutely speechless.

Cut to inside the house. Deniz says I didn’t expect my brother to be ugly, but I didn’t expect him to be so handsome either. It’s obvious that Kerim is a bit disconcerted, maybe annoyed, and he’s not feeling well either. Deniz doesn’t shut up. She looks at Kerim and says [Turkish] he is so excited, he is sweating. You should have seen me this morning, my legs were shaking with emotion.

Deniz says Kerim is just like her dad. He doesn’t show much emotion. Enter Muka with coffee. Unlike you, she tells Deniz. [Turkish] Your Turkish is almost better than ours by the way. Deniz explains that her father wanted her to learn Turkish. He always spoke Turkish to me. He taught me. We are also in touch with many Turkish families there. I also read a lot of Turkish books. There is the internet and I watch a lot of Turkish dizi. [lol]

Muka asks if Deniz’ mother speaks Turkish. Yes, but she has a bit of an accent. Deniz says she wanted to learn Turkish because she knew she would meet her brother one day. I had to know Turkish to get to know him well. Come on now, Kerim says. Maybe you were not aware of my existence, she tells him, but I knew about you. I knew that that someplace in the world there was a person that carried my blood and somehow I knew that I would meet you.

Fatmagul #44 part 6

Fatma asks if her father will be angry that she came. Deniz says his anger never lasts long. As it comes, it goes. [Turkish] He is like my brother, he looks tough but has a soft heart. Kerim doesn’t look pleased. She says, ok, no more propaganda. Kerim sneezes and Deniz says, çok yaşa. Kerim responds, hep beraber. Deniz adds, inshallah (God willing). Kerim gives her surprised look.

Cut: Deniz says, I told you all about me, it’s your turn now. How did you meet? Fatma and Kerim look at each other, stunned. Deniz says it’s obviously a marriage for love. Fatma plainly states, we met in Ildir, that’s it. Muka is happy to jump in here, well… theirs isn’t exactly love at first sight. Kerim saw Fatmagul a few times as she passed by his shop, and in time… this is uncomfortable for Fatma and it looks even more so for Kerim.

Kerim gets up quickly. He’s late for work. He tells Deniz she should go now. On one condition, she replies, let me see you again. The doorbell rings and Fatma goes to answer. Deniz says, I’ll call you and you save my number.

It’s Fahrettin at the door. Father and son look at each other. Deniz goes to the door. So does Muka, to get a good look. Kerim moves away and sits back down.

Fahrettin is not pleased. He says, I told her not to come without consulting you, but she didn’t listen. I wanted you to know this. I didn’t authorize it. Deniz apologizes to her father. I couldn’t be patient and wait for the chance to meet my brother.

They cut: Fahrettin apologizes to Fatma and introduces himself. They shake hands. Muka introduces herself as well. Muka tells Fatma to invite him in. Fatma looks at Kerim, who looks ticked. Please don’t bother yourselves, Fahr says, I only came to pick up Deniz.

Deniz says good bye to Muka and Fatma and runs back to Kerim to give him a little kiss on the cheek. Fahrettin apologizes again and they leave.

Cut: Fahr tells Deniz she will regret this. It wasn’t too bad, dad. He says, why are you so stubborn? Why don’t you listen to me? I don’t know, she replies, maybe it’s because I am your daughter. Deniz turns back to look at the window, where Kerim, Muka and Fatma are standing. She makes the “call me” sign. (That’s why we see Kerim smile at the window.) Muka tells Kerim his sister is very cute and warm-hearted, unlike you. I mean her eyes and hair… doesn’t look like yours. She must take after her mom.

No idea why they chose to edit that scene with Deniz, they should have left it intact.
Kerim leaves. Muka tells Fatma, I think he likes his sister. Fatma agrees. Muka says, she is persuasive. She will reconcile Kerim and his father.

Cut: Kerim is at work and begins to feel worse. He puts on his jacket and his boss notices. It’s warm in here, why the jacket? Kerim says he is feeling cold. Boss says he must be sick. Kerim admits he has a sore throat. He’s losing his voice, too. The boss tells him to go home. Kerim wants to finish one more thing and then he will go.

Erdo and Selim are at work. Erdo is drinking. Erdo says this is the real punishment. Everyone walks away from me. No one wants to come near. I don’t have the right to love or be loved. Is there a worse punishment than that? Selim stays quiet. Is there a worse torture, Erdo asks? Selim tells him to go easy on the drinking, you’ll get drunk in the morning. [too late] Erdo says, she didn’t even want to listen. She threatened me [to call security]. I’m not going to give up on her, he tells Selim. I am Erdogan Yasaran and I won’t allow that woman to leave my side.

Fatmagul #44 part 7

We see Mustafa at Yasaran Holding. He stops and stares at Erdo and Selim through the office window. Selim says I can’t stand seeing him here again. He is Vural’s killer. He simply killed him. It could have been us. It was good at first but now all I feel is scared. He’s got more reasons to hate us and absolutely nothing to lose. Who knows if he will do something to make us go down. He could go crazy and plant a bomb and blow up the whole building.

Cut: Erdo says, I am the real danger here. From now on, it’s me. We go nowhere by keeping Mustafa under control. We can go nowhere until Fatmagul herself says we are innocent. And I will make that girl say exactly that, because I am Erdogan Yasaran.

Cut: Kerim quite sick at home with a fever. The whole family is around him. Meryem and Fatma want to take him to the doctor, but he refuses. Rahmi mentions that the room feels a bit cold. Kadir says there is a draft coming from the door to the outside. Rahmi says he will seal it with foam rubber tomorrow.

Fatma suggests giving Kerim her room for now. My room is warmer, she says, let him sleep there. I will sleep here. Kerim refuses and says don’t make this a big deal. Meryem says he should have her room. Let’s help him to my room. Kerim just wants to be left alone, but Meryem wins this battle.

Kadir and Rahmi help Kerim and Meryem says she will make some remedy for him. Awful Muka tells Meryem, you’re sending Kerim up so you can come downstairs. I wonder why. What are you implying, Meryem asks. Nothing… just nothing, Muka says with that smirky smile. End cut.

Meryem and Fatma are with Kerim. Meryem says the fever has gone down a bit but not enough. She wants to change his clothes. Kerim complains. Fatma notes that Kerim is very grumpy when he is sick. Like a spoiled child, Meryem says. Kerim takes his shirt off and this makes Fatma a little uncomfortable. She says she will go make soup as her quick getaway. Meryem asks her to pass a towel and then Fatma leaves.

Cut: Muka complains that Kerim might infect everyone and she’s especially worried about herself. Fatma makes the perfect suggestion, maybe you should go back to your own place until there’s no danger. No, Muka can’t take that dampness, she will just close herself in her room. Muka wants to know if Fatma really made Kerim stay out in that rain. And adds you’re the one who made him sick. Meryem gets worried and decides to call the doctor. End cut.

The doctor treats Kerim. He will come back in the morning to check. Fatma thinks Kerim is looking a little better now. He’s sleeping. Fatma goes to take the tray out of the room. Meryem says she will do it. Fatma sits in a chair and watches Kerim sleep.

The most egregious cuts: Fatma can’t sleep. She gets out of her bed and goes into Kerim’s room and touches his forehead. She sits in the chair again and gazes at him while he sleeps. She flashes back: Kerim says one of my biggest wishes has come true, you are with me. I feel like yelling at the top of my lungs, “I am happy!” What would you do if I did that, he asks her? You wouldn’t, she replies. I’ll say this girl is my wife and I love her so much.

Another flash: Kerim says, I’ve never forgotten any second in which there was you. When I closed my eyes, I wasn’t in jail anymore. I was in your garden, in your eyes. In your hair. He puts his fingers in the wisps of her hair.

Finally, she remembers him asking, do you love me? Now, she gives him the answer he’s been waiting for: she softly says, “seviyorum… seni seviyorum” - I love [you]… I love you. And you can tell she means it. Kerim slowly opens his eyes and there’s the start of a smile [I think he would have come back from the dead for this] This was the end of Turkish ep 48.

Fatmagul #44 part 8

Kerim wakes up and asks, did I hear right? Was it the fever that made me hear things? Fatma, says your fever has gone down. Do you really love me, he asks? She gets embarrassed and quickly leaves the room. Kerim smiles and says,”seviyorsun” - you love [me]. [This is the best medicine! Instant cure!]

Fatma closes her door and leans against. She’s got an “I can’t believe I said that” look on her face. She touches her cheeks and smiles. She takes in a calming breath.

Kerim is euphoric. He’s kicked off his blankets and sits upright in the bed.

Back to Fatma who goes out on the balcony for air. She’s smiling with excitement. Things are getting better for her.

End of egregious cuts. If you haven’t done so already, please look at the links Lucio graciously provided. Allah kahretsin, UniMas!

Musto is awakened by his phone. It’s the video of his confession. Munir calls for another check in to remind him of what he needs to do.

Fatma is getting ready for the day, fixing her hair in her room. She hears Kerim’s voice in the dining room, good morning. He’s feeling much better. [I wonder why?] She listens at her door to everyone greeting Kerim. They all sit at the table and Kerim looks for Fatma. Muka says Fatma is in her room now. We see Fatma smile and make a slight gasping breath. Fatma composes herself and comes out. Good morning.

Fatma tells Kerim she didn’t think he would get up so early. She goes to the kitchen to get him a plate. He gets up to go too. Meryem leaves the kitchen so Fatma and Kerim can be alone. Kerim gives her the patented smile. [those eyes that smile] Fatma tells him he should rest today, don’t go to work. Okay, he says. She tells him they are all going to work today so he will be alone. Okay, don’t worry about me, he replies.

He can’t take his eyes off of her or stop smiling. That is until Muka comes in, to take her vitamins. Fatma tells her she already put them out on the table. Did I interrupt something, Muka asks. Kerim gives a tilt of the head and leaves the kitchen.

Everyone was worried about Kerim last night but he tells them he is much better now. He looks at Fatma. [she is so trying to play it cool] Muka can’t help but comment how Meryem changed rooms with him. She pointedly asks Meryem, did you sleep well downstairs? Of course I did, Meryem answers. Meryem looks at Kerim and says, he can stay upstairs from now on and she will stay downstairs. [look at Kadir’s face] Muka thinks that’s great for both Meryem and Kerim.

Kadir tells them about going to the Namlis’ house. Meryem thinks they probably won’t attend the trial. Rahmi mentions Meltem and Mustafa testifying. [see Kerim’s look when Musto is mentioned] Isn’t that good enough, Rahmi asks? Kadir is confident, we are well prepared this time. He will go through the case again and with Mustafa as well. [Fatma and Kerim look at each other, he smiles at her] Muka worries about her testimony. She’s nervous. It’s her first time before a judge. What if something happens to her pregnancy. Nothing will happen, Rahmi says. Meryem tells Muka she will feel relieved when she gets that burden off her.

Yasaran stuff. Selim couldn’t wake Erdo up this morning. Resat mentions Erdo drinking to much. Selim fills Resat in on what happened with Nil. Resat thinks Erdo deserves what he got. Hilmiye hears and makes her presence known.

Hilmiye wakes Erdo and tells him to get up and shower. Erdo takes “a hair of the dog” to get started. Hilmiye knocks the glass out of his hand. Erdo is dumstruck. She rips into him. Pull yourself together! You’re torturing me. She can’t stand it anymore.

Fatmagul #44 part 9

Deniz calls Kerim. She couldn’t wait for him to call, so she wanted to remind him. [I find her so annoying] Kerim whispers to Fatma, it’s Deniz. Can I see you, she asks? I don’t know, he replies. You don’t want to see me again, she asks? He hesitates then, says he doesn’t have time. She says she only has a few days left.

Kerim starts coughing and gets up from the table. He tells Deniz he will be very busy with work this week and then he will be going to Izmir for the trial. What trial, she asks? Uh,oh, Deniz doesn’t know. Deniz starts in with her irritating begging. He says he doesn’t have time. He sneezes and she asks if he is sick. Yes. She says she knew it. She asks if there is anything she can do. No, don’t worry. She asks Kerim to please call her. Let’s meet. Kerim softens a bit. He says, we’ll see how it goes and I’ll call you. She wants to make sure he will call. [this girl never shuts up] She ends the call in Turkish with good bye, get well, lots of kisses. Kerim finally smiles at this.

Cut: Muka comments on how nice and friendly Deniz is. She asks Kerim why don’t you spend some time with her? She wants to see her brother. It’s only a few days. He tells Muka MYOB. Rahmi says, isn’t it unfair? She loves you. She didn’t do anything to you. She’s your sister. Is there anything better in the world than a sister? Rahmi and Fatma smile at each other. Fatma says she liked Deniz, too. Rahmi and Meryem mention her coming to the restaurant.

Fahr and his men talk about the Yasarans. They have been too silent. Mumtaz says, [Turkish] the Resat Yasaran I know will want to threaten Kerim one way or another. Deniz overhears this. Fahr replies, he knows that Kerim has a father now. [Turkish] He knows what I will do to them if they keep messing with my son. They won’t escape the hands of justice. Next week, after the trial, Kerim and Fatmagul will be the happy ones.
Deniz enters the room. She asks what’s going on. Fahr avoids an answer. Is my brother in trouble, she asks? You would have known if it was something you should have known, Fahr replies.

Kerim follows Fatma into her room. He wants to get some clothes. She goes into the wardrobe. He asks for the sweater. Fatma says but Muka wore it. She will make him another. He doesn’t want another, this one is fine. It’s very special. He asks her if she called her doctor. She’s calling today for an appointment on the weekend. Ask for one for me, too, he says. Meryem and Kadir hear. Fatma smiles at Kerim.

They cut end of this scene: Everyone hurries to leave for the restaurant. [Kadir is working from home today.] Fatma asks Kerim what he wants her to bring home for him to eat. He says: cake. Muka makes a teasing rhyme in Turkish. I am sick, I want to eat cake. “hasta”, sick, rhymes with “pasta”, cake. Kerim says they couldn’t eat much of it last time. This time they will eat it all.

Kerim can’t take his eyes off Fatma, he watches as she goes down the stairs, out the door, then watches her from the window. She looks up and smiles and waves at him.
Kadir and Kerim clear the table and Kerim says, you told me that Fatmagul would love me and tell me one day. She did last night. Kadir says it was very obvious. But you still wanted to hear it. Kerim says he’s had butterflies since last night. Kadir is happy for him.

The others talk in the car on the way to work, but Fatma is in dreamland. Meryem notices and asks her what’s up. Fatma mouths, later.

Fatmagul #44 part 10

Workplace calls Sami (who is with Hacer) and asks him when he will return. Someone is looking for him. The man tells Sami he’s passing the phone to the visitor. It’s Mustafa. Hacer is alarmed. Sami says hello. Musto asks, how is Hacer? Why are you asking me, Sami replies. Stop pretending, Musto says, I know she’s with you. What are you talking about, Sami says, isn’t she with you? I have to talk to her now, Musto says, tell her to come home. She is my wife and the mother of my child. Sami repeats, she’s pregnant? Sami keeps it up, he doesn’t know where Hacer is. Musto says if you see her tell her I love her and I want her to come back. Hacer wonders how Musto knows.

Sami asks about her pregnancy. Will you have the baby? Yes. Sami says I don’t know what he did, but he sounded happy about the baby. If the problem wasn’t big, maybe you should go back for the baby’s sake. Besides, he said he loves you. And you believed him, Hacer asks? He will kill me if I go back, she says. Sami is alarmed. What’s the problem? Why are you so scared? Hacer is silent. Sami says he will find out. She warns him not to get involved.

Hacer sees Sami out at the same time Fahr and Deniz leave their room. Hacer hears them and pulls Sami back to listen a little more. She hears Deniz mention Fatma and Kerim. Uh, oh. Hacer peeks at them through the door. Hacer tells Sami that was Kerim’s father. What a coincidence. But she’s shaken.

Kerim is in the bedroom wearing his sweater and holding the tatting. He thinks back to Fatma saying she didn’t want to divorce. He kisses those flowers.

Fatma is still in a dream at work. She doesn’t hear her phone until Muka calls to her. It’s Kerim checking in. She goes outside to take the call. Some small talk. She asks how he’s feeling. A little tired. Didn’t you sleep well, she asks? He says, [Turkish] I woke up to the most beautiful voice last night. That voice echoed in my ears until morning. It didn’t let me sleep, not that I am complaining. I just wish I could hear it one more time from you. She asks if he took his medicine. Yes.

He says he wants to sit and have a long talk with her. She agrees. He says let’s do it after the doctor’s appointment. He has a question: When did you first realize that you loved me? She hesitates. Ok, he tells her, wait, I want to look in your eyes when you answer. She’s getting embarrassed. Why, he replies, I’m not ashamed to say I love you. Please tell me you love me. Muka calls her to come back in. She has to go. One last shot, Kerim asks her to say it before she hangs up. She quickly says, seni seviyorum. Kerim is floating on air. Too bad they cut that flop backwards he did when he sat on the bed. (Susanlynn, Omer did a similar flop in KPA, when he was thinking about Elif!)

Kadir and Omer are working. They are looking for telephone records that would place the rotten ricos as the scene of the crime. It could mean one more trial but it is worth it to try. Kadir asks Omer to help him clear a room for Meryem. Omer makes a note of that.

Fahr and Hacer catch each other’s eyes briefly in the hotel lobby. Hacer watches and tries to listen in on Fahr’s conversation with his man. He notices Hacer looking at him and she looks away. Hacer starts walking and feels faint. Fahr notices and catches her before she falls. He carries her to a couch.

Meanwhile, Deniz questiones poor Mumtaz about Resat Yasaran. Mumtaz finds an envelope underneath Fahr’s door.

Fahr brings Hacer around with some cologne. The staff want to bring a doctor. No, thank you, she says. Are you sick, Fahr asks? No. She thanks him. He tells her to sit for a while and have some water. Hacer starts to cry. She apologizes, her nerves are on edge. Fahr asks if she’s sure she doesn’t want a doctor. Hacer says she’s feeling better and she should go.

Fatmagul #44 part 11

Deniz and Mumtaz arrive on the scene. Hacer notices the envelope that Mumtaz has. She makes a quick getaway into a cab. Mumtaz hands Fahr the envelope that was under the door. They get into their car and leave.

Fahr opens the letter. It looks troubling.

Back to Rose Kitchen. Muka can’t refrain from making her crappy comments. That Fatma wants to rush home because she misses her husband. How Fatma acts like her husband is the only one to ever get sick. [Turkish] Muka says it makes her happy to see Kerim finally getting attention he deserves.

Meryem is very happy to hear that Kerim has decided to go to therapy. Fatma remembers she has to call the doctor.

Good grief, Musto has the nerve to show up at Rose Kitchen. Muka says speak of the devil. When were we talking about him, Fatma asks. Muka says this morning. She says that Kadir wanted to talk to him. Musto says he was in the neighborhood on business so he thought he’d stop by. Muka asks him to sit. She sits with him. She asks Fatma to bring tea. Musto asks what does Kadir want to talk about. Muka isn’t sure. Fatma makes the tea but asks Rahmi to bring it.

We didn’t see, but Kerim woke up by hearing Kadir and Omer move the furniture. Omer asks Kadir, why all this rearranging? Kadir simply says that Kerim wasn’t comfortable here so Meryem said she would move. Kadir gets a call. Kerim hears Omer say it’s from Fahrettin. Kerim listens in. Kadir takes the phone. We only hear his side of the call. When? From whom? Kadir says this is strange. Kerim hurries down the stairs and wants the phone. Omer tells him to hold off.

Kadir puts it on speaker and asks Fahr to read. Kadir explains that he received an anonymous letter. Fahr reads [Turkish] “the Yasarans started making new plans as Fatmagul’s trial nears. They are up to something big. It will stir the pot more than ever. I wanted to warn you so you will take precautions. Neither Kerim nor Fatmagul are safe anymore. Be careful about Mustafa. He will be more dangerous from now on. Please listen to this warning and stop Mustafa.”

What do we do, Fahr asks? Kadir asks where Fahr is. They will come. Kerim wants to go, Kadir says no. Kerim insists he’s coming along. Kadir wonders if this is a trap.

Deniz is curious again. What’s going on. Fahr sends Deniz off with Mumtaz. She starts pestering Mumtaz for info. Mumtaz says it’s complicated. Now her father is involved. Deniz presses for more but Mumtaz says he has already said too much.

Kerim leaves the house with Kadir and Omer. They want to get the letter and to the prosecutor. Kerim is convinced it’s the same man who made the phone call to him. Omer says Vural wasn’t mentioned this time. Kerim says they both mentioned Mustafa. Kadir says maybe it’s the Yasarans trying to confuse us.

Muka enjoys her chat with Musto while Fatma fumes, why did he come here? Kerim will get angry again. Meryem says, nothing to worry about, we are all together. Mustafa announces that he doesn’t trust Turaner’s letter. [Turkish] It’s false, at least that’s what the Yasarans made the prosecutor believe. He’s not only dead, but he’s a slanderer as well.

Fatmagul #44 part 12

Fatma answers, but Meltem’s testimony won’t be false. They will hear it. [Turkish] Muka pipes up, what does Meltem know? I’m the one who will tell the real story. I was the one who saw their dirty deeds from the very beginning. [yes and she got down in the dirt with them!]

Rahmi brings up Vural’s parents. Their testimony will be a help, that’s what Kadir said. How is that, Musto asks. Muka says, they told that the boys were with them that night but Kadir proved they were out of the country. Musto tries to process this quickly. He says Kadir is a good lawyer. Who knows what else he found out.

Fatma calls Muka over to help. Fatma asks Musto to leave, they are very busy. There’s no time to chat. Musto says this isn’t chatting. This is important for all of us. Fatma reminds him this is her trial. But we are on the same side, he says, we are in this all together. She tells him to call Kadir then, don’t come here. He says he didn’t mean anything bad, he didn’t want to bother anyone. Fatma says it’s better if he goes.

Musto says he thought Kerim would be here and he would talk to him. Fatma says that’s why you should call first. Kerim might not want to talk to you or he might not be available. You can’t just come here when you want. He understands. He’s sorry. Be careful he says. It’s them who should be careful, Fatma replies. Musto leaves and Muka tells Fatma, well done.

Fatma wants to call Kerim right away. Meryem says he might be sleeping. Fatma doesn’t want to hide this from him. Meryem suggests calling Kadir instead. No answer at the house. Call the cell, Meryem says. Ever the pot stirrer, Muka wonders if Kerim got worse and they took him to the hospital.

Kadir gets the call from Fatma. Kerim panics, don’t tell her I’m here. Fatma wonders why he didn’t answer the home phone. He replies, he’s on the road with Omer. How is Kerim, she asks. Don’t worry, he was sleeping when we left. We didn’t want to bother him. Did something happen, Kadir asks? Fatma doesn’t tell him about Mustafa. She tells the others Kadir was busy, she will tell them tonight.

Kerim thinks this it’s obvious that Mustafa is hiding something. Omer says maybe someone wants you to believe that. Kadir says he could be the murderer. Or there is someone who really wants to warn us, Omer says. We will find out. Kerim throws up his hands.

And we are out.

Dondi, you have out done yourself! Thank you thank you, for all the time, effort and flare you put into sharing all the details with us!

I still can't get over the fact that they cut the 'I love you' scene!! How do you cut that scene??? How can you possibly cut that scene?? It's unbelievable.

Deniz was kind of annoying, but annoying in that way that little sisters are supposed to be annoying...I kinda liked her and I think Kerim probably did too. If anyone could use an annoying little sister it's him!

Kadir said it best, 'Kadir says it was very obvious. But you still wanted to hear it.' lol not that I can blame Kerim pretty much everyone wants to hear the words from the one they love. Kerim got his I love you and now he is walking on air!

I would like to say a whole lot more but I there is a cranky, needy, 1 year old demanding my attention at the moment, it has already taken a ridiculously long time just to get him to let me type this much! Lol he sure is a cute little brat though! Hope everyone enjoys their Sunday!

Dear Dondi , I am amazed at the detail in your recaps and love your writing style . I watched this episode on mute , and then I read your excellent recap and learned exactly what was said. Our little group of fatmagul fans (Fatmafans???) is so lucky to have you doing these recaps including the cut scenes.

How old is Deniz supposed to be ? She is a bit annoying , but if she is supposed to be a teen girl , I get it ...I was one, raised two , and taught many . She is fascinated by her handsome big brother, and who can blame her . She has fallen in love with him because he bas proven that he is a good man, but she is still intimidated by his physical presence.

Can you imagine living with nosy, nasty, rude, crude Muka?. Think of the most inappropriate thing to say in any situation , and she says it .When she leans over that balcony eavesdropping , I think....nevermind. It's not a kind thought. I'm a bad person.

It seems that Fatmagul is comfortable when Kerim isn't there (jail) or when he is down and out (sick). It's strong, healthy , viril Kerim that makes her nervous and wary.

I wonder if Engin actually knows how to weld. Those scenes of him welding seem very real.

Fatmagul
Whoops ...the last line of the second paragraph was meant for the paragraph about fatmagul falling in love with Kerim. I added it later and put it in the wrong paragraph ...sorry. Deniz already loves Kerim ,and she doesnt yet know what a good guy he is .

First I must thank novelera for Thursday’s recap. It was a masterful mix of detail and snark. The comments were great, too. Thank you Halimacandy for the “Dizi cultural reflections”

I can’t wait until we go back to one hour.

Please…those “Angry Bangs” gotta go.

More reveals on Friday and more questions.

VVS and Juanita, Mahfuz being Rey’s bio-dad was a surprise to me, too. I kept thinking, where is the resemblance and then like VVS, I said—curly hair! My questions: I thought it was said that Zehra was a pregnant widow when Hazar married her. Was she or wasn’t she married? Did Zehra think Mahfuz died? I misunderstand something or was this a bad translation?

Aslan has his “A-Team” working overtime. Harun in the SAD konak, Asiye with the Aslanbeys, Mahfuz at his right hand. And yes, who’s that “lady”? Yeah, could be Tia Fusun. Now we know why Mahfuz joined the team. I wonder why Harun and Asiye are members, what’s their beef with Azize?

Susanlynn, I am enjoying Zehra’s “vacation”.

Thank you very much, dondi356. This was again a 3-hour episode when cuts were included. And the recap has it all.

I was shocked they cut the confession of love scene. The show was kind of building up to it for a long time. And then, when you watch the following scenes, you may feel like Mukaddes. You know something happened but they didn't let you listen in, so frustrating.

"He’s feeling much better. [I wonder why?]" When Kadir asks Kerim "Did you sleep well?" he answers "Very well!" This makes Fatmagul, who listens from her room, smile.

When Kerim asked for the sweater she made him and said he didn't want another, this one was very special, you could see Fatmagul was pleased. At last she received some recognition and appreciation for it. She was so disappointed when Muka put it on and it looked as if Kerim didn't care.

Good for Hacer to escape from Mustafa. I wish she had done more.

Mustafa is now acting like an agent infiltrated in Fatmagul's camp, collecting info on court strategies and evidence.

Fatmagul

LOL, Lucio: "you may feel like Mukaddes" -- but only in that way and nothing else! That woman is wicked and she proves it again and again in each episode.

Yes, Deniz is supposed to be the cute and annoying little sister. She’s spoiled as hell. I think she mentioned she’s 17, maybe 18? I know she’s not mean-spirited, but she is old enough to have a little more respect for others. She’s exhausting.

Susanlynn, “It seems that Fatmagul is comfortable when Kerim isn't there (jail) or when he is down and out (sick)”. Doesn’t that remind you of Nare and Sancar in Embajador?

DONDI356

YES!!...THANKS FOR FRIDAY'S RECAPP....I NEEDED THAT........its was a lot to shift thru..
Reyyan's DAD!!!!!!!!OMG!!!!

Fatmagul

Dondi, yes , it does remind me of " La Hija. " These Turkish dizi are strong on romance but not sex . Sanjar seemed to only do noche de bodas...one with Nare and one with the crazy second . Likewise , Miran and Rey consummated the marriage on the noche de boda , but now they are so in love and finally sleeping in bed together but ....just sleeping .
At least Kerim seems to have had a novia in the recent past ..Kristin , who seems to want him back. These Turkish galans are either very patient and respectful or have low libido.
