Carmella - I'm trying to think how to answer this without breaking any Carey rules! LOL I am hoping what I just saw (which I am assuming is what you just saw) was some sort of trick, like it'll end up being a dream or something. Otherwise, this is about to go off the rails BIG TIME!!! I am not sure I like where this is heading... LOL We will have to wait and see.

HERCAI - #86 – Parte 1 de 4

We continue with the distancing of Miran and Firat. Miran doesn’t feel obligated to take any responsibility for how Firat feels. He just can’t accept having ever been dismissive of him. [Let me count the ways, Miran. Firat has been dragged from bed countless times to rescue him.] Miran has Reyyan leave, saying he has another of his surprises for her.

Oh boy! Miran is cooking. We get his explanation of this “scientific soup”: 33 sulfúricos [Huh? My dictionary translates this as sulfuric acid, poisonous.] 17 amino acids, zinc, manganese. He seems to say that ajo (garlic) has all these. He also mentions un hueso (soup bone) for calcium. And he adds pimientos verdes (green pepper). With his chest stuck out, as always, he says that this is for his son and for Reyyan. He kisses her saying that lips have Vitamin B.

Firat tells Zeynep he doesn’t’ want to go to the big foundation inauguration. Zeynep doesn’t baby him with this one, saying that Miran really is his boss. [I am continuously confused about the “business” that seems to have Aslanbeys and Sadoglus involved, the one that Azat just resigned the presidency of.] Zeynap tells Firat she doesn’t know much about the business, but she’s seen how close the two of them are. Firat says that Miran needs to start behaving like an adult. Zeynep gets right to the point blaming most of this on Fusun’s dripping poison in his ear. Fusun stops the car and does a little Angry Bangs impression with her, saying that the issues aren’t because of Fusun; it’s between he and Miran.

Dilsuh searches Reyyan’s becroom again and can’t find the document Reyyan signed saying the doctor should save the baby and not her own life.

Nasuh, Hazar, and Zehra are leaving for the party celebrating the inauguration of the foundation and find Cihan in a snit. He isn’t going and states that it’s “too much”. [What? Your behavior throughout the dizi, your obvious toupee, dealing with your psycho daughter?]

Seyda shows up at Casa Sadoglu begging Handan to let him come back. Of course Handan could care less about how he feels. She tells him she thinks his hair looks good. Clearly invasion of personal space means nothing to this harpy. She tells him she’ll think of a way.

Asiye is getting food ready for the big event. Tufli stammers a lot and comes out with wanting them to go together. She just reminds him that of course that’s what they’ll do, working the party. He takes something out of his pocket that I couldn’t see, something like black satin wrapping something else.

Reyyan is getting ready. Oh brother, I am so sick of hidden letters. She takes it from an excellent hiding place behind the picture of the two of them and is starting to tear it up when Miran comes in. She hides it behind her back. Miran launches into a monologue about how Rey is more beautiful than the stars he used to admire as a child. He brings out a necklace for her to wear to the event. [She does look gorgeous!] He sees the document and almost opens it. But since she told him before that it was a letter to Umut, he doesn’t look at it. He kind of hustles her out of there and she leaves the document on the table.

HERCAI - #86 – Parte 2 de 4

Dilsah asks Sukran if Azra is coming. Instead of going in the same car as ReyMir, she makes an excuse about having forgotten her phone, goes into ReyMir’s bedroom, finds the letter and shows Viewerville a really evil smile.

Reyyan is anxious about having left the document out and lies to Miran about having forgotten some prescribed pregnancy vitamins. Miran turns back.

Handan’s big idea to help Seyda is to send him back into the lion’s den with Melike. He announces that Melike is there to help after the baby is born. [What? Yaren isn’t even showing. Melike has to stay in the House of Horrors for eight months?] Fusun spies Seyda’s bag that he took trying to escape, but he says he was just bringing back more things from where he lived before. Fusun looks pretty skeptical.

Yaren is dressed to go to the event, but Fusun tells her she’s going but Yaren won’t set one foot outside the konak until she gives birth to Harun’s child. [Probably not even then; Fusun probably plans for her corpse to be carried out with no feet touching the ground.]

Dilsah and Sukran leave. Rey goes inside, finds the document (I assume.) She doesn’t open it, but tears it into many pieces. Then we see Dilsah in the backseat of the car with her mother. She’s looking at her phone that seems to have a picture of the document there. [What a disappointment Dilsah has been! She needs a few months in Sultana’s manicomio.]

We’ve come to the big inauguration event for the Umut Foundation to support girls’ education in Turkey. [But several times during the evening boys are mentioned as well. Not that novelera doesn’t like little boys; she raised one. But I thought Miran said the need was for girls without resources.]

The place where the party happens and presumably the headquarters of the foundation is in one of those rooms with curved ceilings that look a bit like caves. We see lots of happy children running around. Reyyan is nervous and asks Miran if he’ll speak in her place. He promises not to leave her alone. “When have I ever left you alone?” [I can think of LOTS of times, but Reyyan, as usual, doesn’t challenge this.]

Mahfuz arrives. Reyyan tells Miran that her papá is here. She embraces him warmly and Miran also seems happy to see him. [Can’t blame Reyyan. Mahfuz is a BIG improvement over Hazar these days.] Mahfuz gives Reyyan a big check for the foundation. I’ll say this for Hazar he’s always pleasant to Mahfuz and smiles at him from across the room. Zehra, however, glares at him.

HERCAI - #86 – Parte 3 de 4

It turns out Cihan and Handan didn’t go to the event because Cihan wanted to rescue Yaren. [Funny how Cihan has turned his coat. He was all Team Fusun for quite a while there.] Yaren says she’s OK staying there but bored because Fusun doesn’t let her leave the place. Cihan orders her to pack her things. Handan isn’t in favor of this and mentions that Seyda and Melike will be there. [Ha freakin’ ha! These two would not stand a chance against Fusun and Fusun’s goons.] Cihan tells Handan he’ll let Yaren stay for now. But when the day comes that invierten los papeles he doesn’t plan to leave Yaren for one day after that. [Didn’t quite understand this. In context I thought it was about a birth certificate but literally it means reverse the papers. Anyone?]

Cihan sells some more wolf tickets. He constantly assures Handan, and Viewerville, what a Bad Man he is, but it’s just one epic fail after another.

The Governor and his wife arrive at the Inauguration. [Mr. Google tells me that there are 81 governors in Turkey, one for each province. I assume this guy is the Governor of Mardin.] The Governor tells ReyMir that education of children is very important for his wife and for him. The Governor’s wife announces that they’d like to set up a library here at the foundation.

Some important guy named Hashin arrives. He wants Miran to run for alcalde (mayor of Midyat). It kind of sounds like whoever he backs would be a shoo-in. Miran demurs, saying he can hardly run his own house.

When Reyyan’s OB arrives, Reyyan tries to head her off.

Azize, Esma, and Gonul arrive together. Miran is quite cordial, assuring Azize it’s fine that she’s come. Firat arrives and is still carrying a grudge. He tells Miran that he came to see him after work and Miran humiliated him in front of Zeynep. Miran still isn’t taking this seriously. Firat tells him that he knows that Miran regards him as a brother in his heart. But he treats him like an employee and he’s tired of it.

Miran finds the doctor. Azat looks at Gonul like she’s the last glass of water in the desert.

Hazar spies Azize, grabs Zehra’s arm and wants to leave. Nasuh tells his big baby not to do this to his pregnant daughter. Zehra tells Hazar that SHE’S staying. He makes for the door, and Reyyan tremulously asks him if she doesn’t mean anything to him. Hazar asks how could he be happy with that woman here? [Hey, dummy, it’s not always all about you.]

Azize approaches Hazar. “Don’t call me mother or even mention my name, but grábate para siempre en el corazón lo que te voy a decir (etch this in your heart forever what I’m going to say to you). Don’t refuse to share any moments of happiness with your son. Take advantage of every opportunity to share with them, because you can’t get those times back and they’ll weigh on you forever. I know this. And she walks away.

HERCAI - #86 – Parte 4 de 4

Outside Miran confronts the obstetrician. He tells her he’s noticed how worried Reyyan was while talking to her. He asks if there’s a problem with the pregnancy, and the doctor says yes. There’s something that he ought to know.

Azize’s words made an impression because Hazar comes back to the party. Zehra is delighted.

The children bring Reyyan flowers.

Miran is chasing Reyyan through the kitchen and into the lobby. “How could you do this to me” Why didn’t you tell me?”

Dilsah calls Azra wondering where she is and is told she’ll be there soon. We see Azra speak to someone in the car, but don’t see who it is.

Back to Miran: “When were you thinking of telling me about your condition?” He says he wouldn’t have known if he hadn’t forced the issue. “She told me that, if you don’t avoid stressful situations, you run the risk of losing the baby.” [It doesn’t sound to me like the doctor told him everything.] Rey tells him that it’s only a risk if she doesn’t avoid stress. “I didn’t want you to worry.” He replies that the doctor told him that (about stress, I assume), but he thinks the opposite. He’s scared. He tells her that SHE’S his priority. The important thing is that she’s well and then so will Umut be.

Reyyan goes to the bathroom and cries. “Why is it so difficult to hide this? What must I do now?”

Miran is introduced and makes a nice, brief speech, thanking everyone. He wants the foundation to not only help their region, but other children in the whole country. He introduces Reyyan as his personal hope, his wife…Reyyan Sadoglu. Everyone applauds and, as the camera scans the crowd we briefly see one of those gorgeous Azize smiles. She begins to speak and then asks the children to come up to the podium. She says that the foundation is named for their future son, Umut. She thanks Nasuh, Hazar, Mahfuz, and Azize for their generous donations. She speaks about an anonymous donor.

Just then Azra and Fusun walk in. Azra announces that that donor is here; it’s her mother, Fusun Aslanbey. They join hands and Dilsah and Azize both look horrified.

These people are wearing me out. I’ve got whiplash from all the personality changes. Firat, the nicest guy of all, is suddenly petulant. He’s been ride or die with Miran the whole way through. But one dig from Fusun and it’s all over. Dilsah was understandably traumatized by the end of her confinement and being told that her child was alive and all grown up. But she’s now the Mother-in-Law from Hell. We had a scene of Azra’s shocked face reading that letter about Fusun abandoning her. And now she’s all “Dear Mamí” right in front of the woman who DID raise her (Dilsah).. Azra also knows that Azize paid for her education and now Azra’s cozy with Fusun.

Herc

FABULOUS recap novelera! Hahaha! You make these people “laughable” through all the angst and personality changes! Whiplash indeed! How can we not suffer from it?!?! Just goes to show ya that the writers will do any and everything to take a story WAAAAAAAYYYY past it’s time! Lol!

ITA that Firat was Miran’s “ride or die” no matter what, until ole fart face planted some seeds of doubt in Firat’s head. While I do not agree with Miran’s attitude, and think that he SHOULD simply acknowledge Firat’s feelings and apologize, Y’all, and I mean all of Y’all Firat, created that monster! Miran does need to be knocked down a peg or two, and realize the the world doesn’t simply exist cause he’s in it!! And then there was that guy, whoever he was, puffing up Miran’s already big head further by telling him he should run for mayor or something! Run Midyat townspeople! Run! Miran can’t even manage his bangs!!

Zehra’s face was priceless when she saw Mahfouz! I really like the guy, and Zehra needs to get over it! He’s there for Reyyan——-as he should be!

Cihan selling “ wolf tickets” hahaha! ALWAYS! Does he know any other way?!? I do agree that he should get Yaren outta there! But like I’ve mentioned before——-TAKE HER STRAIGHT TO A MENTAL INSTITUTION! The girl needs help! On top of her already crazy, now she has to take abuse from Fusun too???

Then there’s Dilsah! From meek and humble to calculating and kookoo for coco puffs! She drove me nuts when she was simpering, now I can’t stand her vindictive azz! She’s taking her anger out on the wrong person, and it doesn’t really make any sense to me! As we all know, Reyyan may have the most influence on Miran, but she can’t make him do anything! It has to be his way or the highway ultimately!

Is Hazar finally growing up too?? Hope so! Don’t miss important family events because of Azize. Stop letting her affect you to the point where you look and act foolish. Just don't deal with her! That hurts her more than anything!!

Azra surprised me with the mother-daughter strut down the isle! I think she’s up to something, and is probably going through her metamorphosis personality change like just about everyone else in this dizi! I hope she doesn’t become mean and nasty and shall I even say it! VENGEFUL! That’s all we need!!!! What till she finds out that mommie dearest killed one of Reyyan’s babies. How proud will she be then to call Fusun “ momma boonie,” lol ( that’s a line from the movie The Color Purple, and a term of endearment)

Loved the look between Azat and Gonul. C’mon you two, stop playing and get it on!! Give us some much needed happy!

Novelera, your recaps are always so entertaining! It’s much needed in this dizi! Thank you for the beautiful Spanish too! It makes things sound much lovlier than they actually are, lol!

Excellent recap with side comments and snark that had me agreeing at every clever turn of phrase. Thank you novelera!

I don’t have too much time to comment this morning. I agree that Miran is suffocating with Reyyan and the “When have I ever left you alone?” [I can think of LOTS of times, but Reyyan, as usual, doesn’t challenge this.] Made me roll my eyes. Promises made and promises broken. That is all Miran does.

Poor Melike! Since when can Handan just decide to send the help anywhere? Is she going to do the cooking and cleaning now?

I am so glad Mahfuz is stoically in Reyyan’s life.

Firat has every right to call out Miran and I am glad he is standing up for himself. Miran still has sooooo much to learn about relationship management/self reflection.

Is Azra a double agent? Possibly playing both sides of Azize vs. Fusun?

This was great novelera! Thanks again!

Hercai

Novelera, you deserve an award for a fantastic recap of another episode that spun more gold into straw.

We got another repeat of Angrybangs' fav mantra " How could YOU do this to ME? "

Remember the good old bad old days when folks were weeping and fretting over wonderful, dear , better than bread, long gone Dilsah ? Yikes .

The only person I like is Mahfuz ..probab!y because he hasn't been on screen much. And I miss Gorgeous creepy because at !east he was nice to look at and didn't have angry bangs and hissyfits....just the crazy .

These folks all seem to have had personality changes . Firat got a girl and an attitude, and Mir doesn't get it or like it because it is all supposed to be about Mir...everyday ...all the time ....24\7.

Azar will be so proud when she discovers how Mom has imprisoned her SIL until she has the baby.....and then???....and adopted Mom is threatening her DIL?.

How are the writers going to bring this hot mess to an end ?

Wow, novelera! I loved your spectacular recap, and I also enjoyed the insightful and delightful comments others have offered. I'm racing to leave for an appointment, so I won't say much more. I just want to add that I found a discussion of se invierten los papeles on WordReference.com. The suggestions there indicated that it can mean "the tables are turned, the roles are reversed, the shoe is on the other foot."

Again, many many thanks!

PASION Thursday, Part 1 of 3

It’s morning. A police car arrives at what is turning out to be a crime scene. They found the body of a dead woman, 25, strangled after being hurt with a white weapon several times, she must have fought her attacker. They can’t be sure she was sexually abused, too, they’re waiting for the medical report. One of the cops thinks this murder could be connected with another crime that happened at the lagoon just days ago.
The cops keep talking, they’re afraid this is a serial killer. They are trying to find the couple who was with the victim the night before at Bar Alcala. In the meantime they need to enforce security. Just now when the fair has started.

Gunther and the maid are fixing Rosario’s room. She went out early but now she’s back but in no mood to chat. They tell her about the dead woman they found this morning, a woman who was at the bar the night before – she fought with the couple she was with. Could it be the same assassin who already attacked the other woman? Rosario tells Muriel about the crime, she’s upset especially because that woman was at the Bar before dying. And she is not the first woman found dead. Rosario doesn’t want to scare Muriel, but she has to be careful, trust nobody.

Norma is upset, tells Quintina that Rosario has no place to come to their home, especially after what happened with the twins.

Felix tells his cop friend that every time something like this happens he’s afraid, thinking it could be Adela. He’s also upset because he doesn’t know what Oscar is after. The cop thinks Oscar might know something about Adela, Felix is sure he’s trying to defend his nephews, doesn’t care one bit about his sister.

Juan talks with his sons about the murders. They don’t think someone from town could do this. There have been a lot of new arrivals lately. Could the Prof’s killer be a foreigner, too? Juan thinks that killer knew the Prof very well… what is certain is that a crazy guy is running free. The boys decide to go home to their mom, and Juan agrees, all women are in danger.

Sarita and Oscar tell Jimena to stay in, San Marcos is very dangerous these days. The conversation startles Gaby so much that she leaves the table. Oscar thinks it’s maybe something he said, but Sarita reassures him – Gaby is very scared, feel that Demetrio is following her. Oscar goes to talk to her. He thought she’d forgotten about the incident with Dimi, but Gaby can’t. Whenever someone mentions abusers, she immediately thinks of him.

Gabriela is on the phone with Dimi, who has to cancel their day together. He tells her that he had to go on an unexpected trip, his mom is ill and he won’t be back for a while. Gabriela is disappointed, but promises to stay in touch. We can see Dimi tending to his scratched face and remembering the night before, cursing the woman who dared hurt him.

Madrina has been away working, Romina offers to help with her bag, only to hand it to Duvan. Madrina asks why the kid is not in school and why his mom told him she was a witch. She adds says at least she’s earning an honest living, just last night she predicted the death of that girl.

Albin and Norma are talking about the dead girl, too, but he still plans to have fun, and also work. He has some competitions lined up. Juan and his sons arrive just then and Norma is appropriately happy to see them. Juan is cordial, but barely. Albin invites them all to come to his parade later that day, he even brielfy takes Norma’s hand in the process. Juan can’t go, but asks JD to go with his mom. Then Juan wishes Albin good luck and kisses Norma in front of him, marking his territory, for good measure. Albin takes notice and Norma looks slightly worried, too.

PASION Thursday, Part 2 of 3

The commander has come to see Oscar at work. He wants to know about his talk with Felix, and if he has news about Adela. Maybe he has some information that he doesn’t want to share? Why would he care who is in charge of the murder investigation? He could give him this intel in exchange for Adela’s whereabouts. Felix is his friend, he wants to help him find his sister. Oscar says he’ll think about it, the true criminal wants to hurt his nephews and he has to protect them.

Albin is doing his horses parade and Norma looks on, mesmerized. Don’t see what the fuss is all about, just a guy on a horse, Norma has been around horses and men on horses all her life. Meh… Later with JD she says she’s happy they came. She was impressed with Albin, he’s sensational (eye roll).
But she wants to talk about something important to JD – Rosario Montes – she doesn’t want to interfere in his private life, but what is his deal with that woman? She also tells him Rosario already came to see him several time, JD suggests maybe it’s because she wants to buy a horse. Norma says she didn’t even try to find an excuse for being there and she finds her very arrogant. What’s the truth? Dos he love her? JD says that he’s starting to fall in love; but not with Rosario. Someone else, but he’s waiting to see if she loves him back.

Rosario is visited by the mayor and his wife. They talk about the murder briefly, but the real reason they came was to invite her to the big party they are throwing that night; Rosario says they are not involved in the fair, but the mayor says she is very important to the town and tourists always come to the Bar. Muriel mentions how the dead girl had been at the Bar, too, but the mayor is not interest in the subject.

Rosario asks Muriel if she plans to come to the party with her. She will go briefly, before her show. Muriel agrees to come with her mom.

Erick tells Juan that they’ve been working a lot, they have a lot of clients. Juan wants to talk to Leon, so Erick follows him, saying this is not a good time for his brother. Juan finds him with a girl in the stables.

Albin says the fair organizers are planning a tribute for him so he can’t hang out with them anymore. Norma says thank you for the great fun. Albin invites them to the mayor’s party, Norma doesn’t think she can go with him, she does have a husband. Then the invitation is for both, Albin says and leaves. JD has witnessed this exchange and seems a bit surprised.

Juan tells the twins its’ not OK to mix up business with pleasure like this. But the twins defend themselves saying they are working all the time, they are controlled, when are they supposed to have fun? Juan is afraid of what they might do if they have the same liberty as before. And who is this woman? Just a client, they say and Juan tells them they can have all the fun they want at the mayor’s party. After their father leaves, the twins mention all the old people and ugly ladies there will be in attendance. Better they stay at home, invite some girls and have a good time.

PASION Thursday, Part 3 of 3

Quintina is admiring the full moon, good or bad things happen in nights like this. Don Martin is falling asleep, Norma wishes him to have good dreams. JD knocks, Juan is looking for his wife.

At the dinner table, Juan says he’s happy the parade was fun. He mentions the mayor’s party – Norma wonders if she absolutely has to go. Juan says they are all invited, but the boys don’t want to go. Juan says he will just go alone, but it’s strange that Norma wouldn’t go, since she went to the parade with a perfect stranger. Norma decides to play nice, stands up and kisses him, but even their sons can tells that something is off.

JD calls Muriel, asks if she can go out for a bit. But she can’t, she has to go with her mom to an event. Raincheck.

Panchita notices a lot of people will be at the party. Rosario says this will be her first party like this. She’s only going for a short while, she has work to do. Panchita hopes the cops won’t come bother the clients, as they did with the employees. The only one uninterested is the mayor, he wants to have his parties and his fair.

Norma tells Juan she thinks JD didn’t come with them because he’s meeting someone; just a mother’s intuition. What about her, does she really want to come with him? Juan asks. Yes, she says, she always wants to be with him.

Don Martin is awake, on a walk with JD. He thinks JD should go have some fun, but JD doesn’t mind being with him. He realizes the twins can party at home, so he goes to check on them. He finds them with a table filled of drinks, ready to party. JD wants to put a stop to it, but the twins encourage him to drink or go to sleep. Don Martin wants to drink, too, he protests when JD wants to take him to bed. JD allows his brothers to have their party, but don’t cause any problems. Some ladies come just then, JD says hello and leaves.

Sarita and Gaby arrive at the mayor’s party. They see Gabriela, Gaby thinks Dimi can’t be too far away, they are inseparable. They go to say hello to other party people and then to see Sarita’s mom. They don’t plan to stay long, they are very scared because of what is happening in town. They came alone, but they imagine Gabriela has come with Demetrio. Gabriela says he had to go back home, his mom is sick. He’s a great friend, she will miss him a lot. Gaby ironically says how sorry they are … Gabriela asks if someone else is coming…

Oscar and Jimena are in bed, he’s not in the mood to go to a town party, and he’s no longer used to them after being away for so long. Jimena wonders why he’s upset, he says he’s worried about the twins. Jimena reminds him he has to stay away from the murder investigation, but Oscar says he just can’t, the boys are in danger. Jimena asks him to say if something serious is happening. Oscar says he doesn’t know, too much is going on.

Duvan is the Madrina’s room, looking in a bag if trinkets. Romina scolds him, he was just curious, she says not to touch her things again.

The mayor’s party has started; Norma and Juan are dancing and laughing, when a guy we haven’t seen before arrives, around the same time Rosario and Muriel are escorted inside by the mayor himself. The strange guy looks around, seems to notice Juan and Norma, raises his hand to his vest and it looks like he’s about to grab a gun hidden in his jacket. End show!

Just what this town needed. Stay tuned tomorrow for the San Marcos Massacre… I presume.

PASION

Here it is, in all it's vicious darkness. This is not what I expected when they first announced Pasion de Gavilanes 2.
They started with a murder, which was fine, but right now it feels like they are throwing everything they can come up with at us. Now we have a serial killer on our hands, too. What next? Oh yeah, why not a mass shooting? No spoilers, just speculating.
I'm starting to think Franco is better off where he is. Unless he arrives with a bonkers story, too. Maybe the Colombian Mafia has him. Or some shady Cartel, they are very in fashion these days. God help us all, this is turning into a murderous mess (literally).

Pasion

Thank you Adriana. Your recap is an excellent one despite the “vicious darkness” you so aptly describe. I guess that the evil and malicious spirit of the awful, disgusting dead Professor is making his presence felt in San Marcos in more ways than one?! Not only are the bad characters dark, but the supposed “good ones” are going through some kinda weird change too—— if yesterday’s episode was any indication.

Norma is openly being disrespectful to Juan with Albin, and it’s causing an unnecessary rift in their once “solid” marriage. Even JD was giving his mom the side eye as she gushed on and on about Albin’s horseback riding skills.

It’s also a given that JD doesn’t know how to handle whatever it is that Rosario does to him. It’s like he loses his power to think and say no. The picture of the JD that we were given is unlike the marshmallow he becomes when he’s around her. Like what kind of hocus locus spell are these folks under!!?? Maybe Madrina put a spell on everyone!

There were a couple of funny moments too. When Juan caught Leon with his pants down, and later the boys complained that it’s because they have no freedom that they have to do these things. Juan counters with, if you do this when you’re not free, it’s a wonder what you must do when you are! Lol

It was also funny when the twins rebelled against going to the mayor’s party cause they complained that all the women are probably ugly like the Mayor’s wife! Hahaha! I just cracked up!

Still, this is not the novela that I was expecting, am I’m totally with you Adriana about Franco staying where he is! I’d hate to see them turn him into a reprobate! Look what they’re doing to our calm, level headed and loyal Juan!

Thank you Adriana! I don’t know how you made it through this one!

Pasion

Adriana, oh amiga you are cracking me up today! :)

'Just what this town needed. Stay tuned tomorrow for the San Marcos Massacre… I presume.' LMAO!!! Yeah pretty much. You did say you like a good mess! I don't know what in the world we are watching anymore but it's definitely a mess! Wow!!!

Not going to say anything specific about previews because of Carey rules, I usually don't see them because the app doesn't show Telemundo commercials, but I actually watched last night live because I wasn't having troubles sleeping, anyway without giving details their little preview clip of what's happening next week is an indication that the messiness is just getting started.

'I'm starting to think Franco is better off where he is. Unless he arrives with a bonkers story, too. Maybe the Colombian Mafia has him. Or some shady Cartel, they are very in fashion these days. God help us all, this is turning into a murderous mess (literally).' Yep, I have some pretty far-fetched theories for where he could be - well last week I thought they were far-fetched, now I just think I'm right, or not thinking far enough outside of the box.

One thing about Norma's little flirtation, and this is not in any way to condone any kind of infidelity, but something did occur to me. I have tried not to comment too much on first season stuff because I know some of the patio didn't see it, but Norma was raped prior to her first marriage and before meeting Juan. At the beginning of season 1 she was very unhappily married and traumatized by her rape. The idea of any man (including her husband) touching her was repulsive to her and what drew her to Juan in the first place is that she didn't feel that way with him. With him, she felt attraction and desire and she was both surprised and excited that she could feel that way. Now if she's been with Juan ever since, and we know she has, maybe this Albin guy is just the second guy she's ever felt herself drawn to?? Not saying it's okay, but I imagine it could feel more heady to find yourself actually attracted to a man and interested in him when you normally just feel fear or uneasiness. And I don't think that fear was ever completely left her because the other day when she was exercising and she looked up and saw Adan standing there - that fear and uneasiness was right there in her eyes.

I feel like this is trying too hard to be edgy at this point, but maybe it will be okay? LOL I still want to watch even though I am scared of what I might see next. Yikes!!!

Pasion

Carmella, I agree with you that the twins have become the tiny comic relief of this show. The way they talked about all the old hags attending the mayor's party cracked me up, too.
I'm wondering if Norma is even aware of how her friendliness with this guy makes her look. She's so open in her enthusiasm, it's like she finds it normal to almost drool over him in front of her entire family.

Darcy, I hadn't thought about the fact that Norma's trauma might not be completely cured. She's had Juan all these years and she's been happy, but actaully being able to feel attraction for another guy and still choose Juan would be a nice, romantic way to write a second act for these two.

Sarita and Franco have already had their second act, while we were not around to witness it, let's hope by the time Franco does show up we're not too traumatized by the continuous murder and mayhem to care.

The couple that is in a lot of trouble is Jimena and Oscar. He not only cheated and had a child with another woman, but he's also been actively lying to Jimena for the past 10 years. I don't see how she can get past that.

All in all, I'm happy the original couples are getting more screen time, the twins are less creepy, and more fun and Demetrio will be gone from our screens at least for a few days.

Excellent recap, novelera. Thanks for the snark and the Spanish!

I’m surprised Lutfu let Miran use “his” kitchen! In the Turkish Miran called the soup, “miranaş”. Bad translation, he said “sulfur compounds”, not sulfuric acid, lol. In Turkish, “by Allah’s permission, we will go to that birth safely and return safely.”

LOL: “[What? Your behavior throughout the dizi, your obvious toupee, dealing with your psycho daughter?]” Cihan “sells wolf tickets”, then he makes a mess, then he whimpers for forgiveness. Wash, rinse, repeat.

Don’t know why Handan would think sending Melike is a fix. Although Melike has much more experience dealing with demons. Will Melike and Seyda become an item?

Looks like Lutfu wants to start something with Asiye.

ITA, novelera, “Fusun probably plans for her [Yaren’s] corpse to be carried out with no feet touching the ground.”

Yes, Dilsah has been a disappointment. She needs help. I hope they send her off to the manicomio before she really hurts someone, but she has my permission if it’s Fusun.

Would have been cute to have Gul at the Foundation opening.

Mind blowing: Miran asking ““When have I ever left you alone?” And that guy who thought Miran would make a good mayor, when as carmella pointed out, “Run Midyat townspeople! Run! Miran can’t even manage his bangs!!”

I really hope VVS is right and Azra is a double agent. Azize was in disbelief and Dilsah was hurt. It really bothered me.

I’m glad to see Firat standing up to Miran, too.

I’m with Halimacandy—what about the rest of Azize’s sins? What about Hanife? Azize threw her in a hole and forgot all about her. Azize hasn’t paid for half the damage she’s done.

I'd rather be watching "March Madness" than "Midyat Madness". St. Peter's v. Purdue tonight!

herc

Well, not really Hercai, but I wanted to respond to Dondi's March Madness comment. I'll be watching the Stanford women take on Maryland tonight. They are fierce! And I'm hoping for a repeat of 2021's National Championship. One of their finest players is a local girl: Haley Jones from Santa Cruz, California.

And another fun fact. Stanford's tallest player, Cameron Brink has a connection to the Stephen Curry family. Steph's mother and Cameron's mother played college volleyball together. At the Stanford game against Kansas, Cameron's mother brought Steph Curry's two daughters to watch Cameron play.

I'm working on a complicated work project right now and hope to say something about all the FANTASTIC comments on the recap.

herc

One more thing. With all the revenge and whiplash characters, where the hell is our crispy critter Ashlan and his batty mother Sultana?

herc

Carmella I agree that Miran has not taken Firat seriously. Besides Fusun there was the episode with Firat grabbing up that truckdriver and not telling Miran about it. Firat didn't like Miran dressing him down about it. ITA about Miran's complete unsuitability to be mayor of Midyat. I love every chance to use wolf tickets. It perfectly describes some huffing and puffing and bluffing that some guys do. Yes, Azra needs to find out about those poisoned sweets sent by Fusun.

VVS Thanks so much VVS. Yep, Hanife, Melike, and Seyda are all gone from the Sadoglu konak. Handan may have to pitch in!

Susanlynn I also wonder about Gorgeous Creepy.

Halimacandy We'll have to agree to disagree about Cihan. I've disliked him from the beginning and his actually well-deserved inferiority complex is tiring. I do appreciate all your ideas for redemption the islamic way.

Juanita Thanks so much for explaining that "reversal" metaphor. Makes sense now what Cihan said.

Dondi Thanks for giving me the correct spelling of Lutfu. I really messed that one up. I'm actually rooting for Melike and Seyda, both nice people. GREAT idea about Gul having been at the inauguration party. ITA about Azra perhaps having a plan to get even with Fusun, but Dilsah is probably too dense to grasp it.

SUSANLYNN, amiga, I saw your comment but I forgot to reply back. Yes, this novela is quite a big mess, my brief description didn't do any justice to what is truly going on. And it got even messier since that last comment you wrote. I wish you could watch it with us, but I'm afraid some of the nonsense might hurt your brain as much as it's hurting mine LOL

Before I forget, thank you VVS for the comment you wrote a week ago! I was busy reading the previous Pasión posts and didn't see it.

Basically, I followed Darcy's and VVS' advice and I'll comment on Pasión de Gavilanes 2 from now on :)

It took me a few days to read all the posts, but now I'm ready to start writing about this show!

Thank you Darcy and Adriana for your excellent recaps. It was very fun reading them and everyone's comments.

Season 2 really is dark. I guess it was slightly unexpected, considering the theme of the first one? (Thanks to whoever wrote the plot for it.)

Theory: What if Adela killed the professor? Maybe she got fed up after all these years of abuse. In that case, she's probably the extortionist (as someone wrote in a previous comment).

For your guys' sake, I'll try to summon Franco: FRANCO FRANCO FRANCO! Hope this works ;)

Season 2 Episode 29 – Friday – Part 1 of 5

JD is in his room studying but looking restless when he receives a phone call that lights up his whole face! ‘Hey’ he says with the excitement of a 14-year-old boy. The excitement fades a little when he realizes Muriel is at that party his parents went to – you know the same one he refused to attend! Now, he’s kicking himself but hey he can still go! How about he drives out there and they can still see each other? We don’t hear Muriel’s answer but it must have been some form of no because the call ends with JD telling her to enjoy her night. Before the call does end, however, we get Quintina bursting into the room loudly and JD making all kinds of furious and funny motions to shush her, because apparently saying ‘Just a minute Quintina, I’m on the phone’ is not as much fun as miming it (it’s cute I am not complaining).

Quintina has come to get JD to come and see what his brothers are going. Maybe he can tell her if this behavior is allowed on the ranch. The twins are doing exactly what we expected them to do (we’ve only known them for a few weeks and Quintina and JD have known them their whole lives I don’t know why they are surprised) getting drunk and half naked with some girls who are also getting drunk and half naked! Oh, and dancing on the tables! Don Martin is enjoying it, lol. JD walks in all dad-like, turns off the music and starts yelling the party is over! Eric is equally upset; he told his brother’s grumpy ass to go to bed! (LOL) Eric more slurs than yells back that his brother is a wet blanket, he’s jealous, and he’s just mad because he has a small ______ (I’m not condoning idiots acting like idiots, but hey, they’re idiots, and Eric was funny in this scene) Eric says he’s going to teach his brother to respect the music but he’s way too drunk to swing and JD decks him instead. JD tells his brother he is an immature clown (yeah, and those are his likable qualities). Leon intervenes and JD notices his drunk grandpa isn’t looking too good. He tells his brothers he is putting grandpa to bed and when he gets back, he better not find this mess, the girls need to get dressed and go home.

Back at the Mayor’s party, Gaby comments that she would have loved to see the twins. Juan says he’s noticed that she’s grown close to them and she says yes, especially since they’ve been helping Nino. Gaby thinks Uncle Juan should loosen the rules a little on the twins (if only she could see what they are doing in this very moment under his strict control) Sara comments that Uncle Juan isn’t as strict as Gaby thinks, he is just worried about the twins with everything that is going on. The whole table comments they are tired and bored and they would like to go home. Except Juan who wants to dance some more but before he can get Norma back on the dance floor his friend Armando Soler approaches the table. Juan introduces everyone and Armando insists Juan come with him, for just a couple minutes to meet a very important friend of his. Juan reluctantly follows saying he’ll be right back.

After Juan leaves, the ladies all comment that they would’ve loved to say hello to Muriel but they want to keep their distance from Rosario. More talk of leaving but Albin arrives and he and Norma take up their flirting and he quickly convinces her to dance with him while she waits for Juan to return. Sara oddly encourages this but after Norma leaves and Gaby makes a comment about how well they get along it finally occurs to Sara that Albin might be interested in Norma. They both say no way at first, but then they reconsider, maybe? They laugh.

Season 2 Episode 29 – Friday – Part 2 of 5

JD can’t get grandpa to let go of his hand – he’s holding him so he won’t go out and yell at his brothers! (LOL) He says it’s all his fault because he didn’t leave their party. JD says nonsense, they are responsible for their own actions and they need to grow the hell up. Martin says JD doesn’t need to parent them (I wholeheartedly agree) and JD says if he doesn’t do it his dad will and it will be worse (Let your dad do it man, they call him dad for a reason!) Gramps thinks JD should cover for them, the boys are just being boys, but JD thinks that’s the problem everyone treats them as if they are still little boys and they’re not, they are adults.

Juan comes back to the table to find Norma dancing with Albin and he is NOT happy. He walks right past the shady looking dude we saw last night but doesn’t get far when shots ring out. The same dude with a gun is yelling at the scattering crowd, calling them heartless idiots and holding the mayor hostage. He is the husband of the young woman who was killed last night. His wife was full of life and murdered in a horrible way and none of these people care! They just have their stupid party like nothing happened and he is going to show them all! No one in this room is getting out alive (Here comes your San Marcos massacre Adriana). The crowd ducks and hides. Gabriela finds Juan and takes this precise moment to tell him that he should be with Norma!! (LOL even in the middle of the town massacre you can’t miss an perfectly good opportunity to criticize I suppose.)

Andres is prepping with the band when Pancha comes up panicked. She wants him to prepare something to calm the crowd because there have been shots at City Hall, but wait, Andres’ mom is at City Hall! He’s not preparing anything he’s going to check on his family. He runs off after Pancha.

Back at the standoff, the gun man tells everyone to stay still and stay off their phones. The mayor’s wife is passed out on the floor and may have been shot but Muriel notices she’s alive because she’s moving. Rosario tells her daughter to be still. Norma is huddled with Albin; Sara is holding on to Gaby and Rosario and Muriel are huddled together. Juan is still standing off a little in the shadows measuring up the situation. A phone rings, it’s Gaby’s and she rushes to shut it off. The gun man calls the mayor’s wife a hag and tells her not to move. He shoots again. Juan approaches a little as the gun man asks who wants to be the first to die?

Pancha and Andres are outside trying to get answers from the police or get in they can do neither. At the same time, JD is walking down the stairs at home with Quintina saying sometimes he wishes the twins weren’t his brothers so he could strangle them. (I bet!) Quintina worries about the example they set for the staff. JD’s phone rings and it’s Andres. He tells him about what is going on at City Hall and JD leaves immediately for town. Pancha is still trying to get in.

The gun man is looking overwhelmed and crazy telling everyone how powerless and scared he feels trying to accept he’s never going to see his wife again while they all simply party like they don’t have a care in the world. Some guy (I think it was Juan’s friend Armando) yells out that the man should think of his wife, he won’t get anything from doing this it is only making things worse. He says to drop the gun and the gunman shoots in his direction instead.

Andres hears the gunshot and tries again to get in but at least the police are good for something in this town because it’s a no go.

More bravado from the gun man asking if anyone else is going to try to stop him, and Juan is in non-verbal communication with someone but I couldn’t see who it was. He nods and whomever it was cut the lights. Juan quickly advances on the gun man and takes him down before he can do anymore harm. The police are right behind him securing the situation and the crowd runs toward the doors.

Season 2 Episode 29 – Friday – Part 3 of 5

We see Norma and Albin, Sara and Gaby, and Rosario rushing for the doors, but Muriel seems reluctant to leave and keeps looking back for some reason. Rosario tries to drag her out but it looks like she loses her in the crowd. The cops drag the now unarmed and cuffed man who is still yelling threats out and Juan is standing pretty much exactly where he took the guy down.

Outside Pancha is getting rowdy still insisting she be let in, but the officers quickly inform the crowd the situation is now under control and everyone is getting ready to come out so please back up and give them room. Gaby and Sara are the first to appear and Andres hugs them tight! After a minute he wants to know where Aunt Norma and Uncle Juan are but they don’t know they lost them in the commotion. Norma is next on the scene with Albin and she hugs her family. She is upset because she doesn’t know where Juan and her mom are but Gabriela is right behind her. But where is Juan? Juan is missing? Norma tries to go back in to look for him but the cops stop her. People are still coming out; she just needs to wait. Norma is worried and she leans into Albin for support as she waits to see Juan. Rosario is out next and Pancha is relieved but Rosario is not because she can’t find Muriel.

Juan would have been the next to appear but as he’s walking toward the gate, he spies his wife – in the arms of another man whose hands are on her face, Juan watches for a minute and then turns around and walks back into the crime scene. He finds the mayor instead tending to his wife and asks how they are. It turns out the mayor’s wife wasn’t shot just hit with the butt of the gun. The mayor asks about Norma and Juan says he just saw her, she’s fine.

Pancha and Rosario are still wondering where Muriel is when JD shows up and hugs his mom. He asks how she is; she is fine but she is worried because she doesn’t know where his dad is. JD says he will go look for him, he tells her to stay with Albin (LOL). Oddly, the police let JD walk right in after refusing entrance to everyone else. In all her fear and trauma, Norma still has the time and inclination to give Rosario a dirty look as Albin sticks way too close to Norma with his hands on her shoulders.

JD has found Muriel instead of his dad, and he hugs her tight. She’s glad he’s there. She’s okay but every time she sees him, she feels better. She asks about his family. He says he is looking for his dad and asks if she’s seen him. She tells him yes; he is right over there; JD should go find him. He starts to go but then comes back and gives her a long lingering look. He says I’ll see you later, and she says she’d like that. She would love to return to his secret hideaway. He says it’s our secret hideaway. Another longing look and a nice sweet kiss – on the cheek – and then he does leave to go find dad. Muriel smiles and walks off.

JD finds dad just hanging out in the den with the mayor and asks if he’s okay. Juan says yes, he’s fine just shocked. JD tells his dad that mom is outside and very worried, like let’s go! Juan sighs and says okay. JD notices Juan’s hand and asks what happened and Juan says it’s just a scratch. It happened because of a desperate man who lost his wife and didn’t know what to do.

Norma is still out front asking for Juan but Albin is now MIA (maybe he got bored?) Juan and JD finally appear and Norma rushes into her husband’s arms but he isn’t receptive. He basically just leads her off not answering any of her questions.

Season 2 Episode 29 – Friday – Part 4 of 5

Back at the bar, Rosario asks Muriel if she is going straight to bed. Shouldn’t she go distract herself a little first after what happened? Nope, Muriel is exhausted and she thinks her mom should sleep too. Rosario says she can’t abandon the bar. Muriel goes to sleep and Gunter offers Rosario her favorite drink to relax her. She accepts and thinks he should offer one to Muriel too but Gunter doesn’t think she needs it, she knows how to relax herself. Rosario wants to know what he is insinuating but he claims he only meant what he said.

Juan and Norma are home and Juan is still rejecting all Norma’s touches. He asks about the twins and is told they are in bed; he doesn’t want a drink. He heads upstairs. Norma asks about grandpa and Quintina says he is nervous; Norma goes to check on him. Left alone, Quintina tells JD whatever he does do not go into the twins’ rooms especially not Eric’s! JD wants to know what she is talking about but she doesn’t spell it out. Fine, go look if you want, but quietly and whatever you do don’t tell your parents. After everything else that happened tonight, they don’t need another problem. Big sigh from JD and a ‘here holding this’ as he hands off his hat to Quintina. (I don’t know why but that whole hold my hat thing cracked me up!)

Eric is in bed with a girl, just incase no one saw that coming, but it’s only one girl so I think it’s progress. JD walks in quietly and holds his brother’s nose until the lack of ability to breath wakes him up. JD immediately tells his brother to be quiet (not sure if he was being considerate of the girl or just trying not to be heard by his parents). Something serious happened at the City Hall tonight and the last thing we need is another scandal. Get this girl out of here, quietly. Eric doesn’t want to and JD finally says okay whatever, deal with dad in the morning! Eric tells him not to open his mouth and JD says I won’t, and I hope you don’t cry like a little girl when you’re kicked out of this house! (I mean Leon was caught with his pants down in the stable and he still lives here so I don’t think Eric would get kicked out over having a girl in a bed… but this show is weird so you never know) He walks out.

Rosario is worried about how to keep the crowd from leaving and she quickly goes to the stage and gives a short speech about how the scare was overcome by the quick thinking of the authorities and asks the crowd to enjoy her new song. She starts to perform and surprisingly, Andres is there, back at work and not at home with his family. Albin is there too, having the time of his life and looking entirely unfazed by the events of the evening. Is he flirting with the girl in the audience, Andres, or with Rosario? Does he even know? This guy just likes a party!

Juan is sitting in a chair and thinking back to seeing Norma dancing with Albin. He is very disturbed and I am just amazed by the fact that no one is thinking about how they could have been shot tonight! (I mean I was at a would be massacre tonight, my wife, sis-in-law, niece, and even mother-in-law were all in danger, I took down a gunman who threatened to kill the whole room but I still have the headspace to worry about a dance????) Norma wakes and tries to get Juan to come to bed but he won’t. She even offers to help him get to sleep but he says he is going to go take a walk around the house. Norma shakes her head and rolls her eyes.

Season 2 Episode 29 – Friday – Part 5 of 5

Juan goes to see Don Martin who is awake too. He asks Martin if he thinks Norma is happy and grandpa thinks Norma is the happiest woman in the world, he is sure of it. She and Juan are the perfect couple. Juan worries that maybe she is tired of him. Martin thinks it’s nonsense. Juan says she is still a very beautiful and desirable woman she could be interested in someone else, someone younger, more handsome. Martin points out Juan could do the same but he wouldn’t. Martin is yelling and Juan smiles a little and tells him to lower his voice or they will wake everyone. Martin tells Juan to come closer and he will lower his voice. Juan goes and sits on Martin’s bed and Martin tells him that he is sure of one thing: If Norma did get interested in someone else, Juan would know it. If she wanted to leave, she would tell him immediately, she wouldn’t stay quiet!

Next morning, Juan is gathered with Oscar, Jimena and Sara in the fields (note Norma is not there) talking about the night before. Oscar just thinks the guy was a psycho who could have killed them all. Juan thinks the mayor was looking for it, they’ve been insisting for a while on better security. Jimena tells them she just read that San Marcos is by far the most dangerous and crime infested place in the region now. Juan says it will only get worse if the mayor doesn’t do something, they should pray that he learned his lesson last night. Sarita expresses some sympathy for the man who was so desperate over the death of his wife; he went about it wrong but he just wanted justice for his wife. They all agree they want to avoid the rest of the festival and Juan invites them over to the ranch instead. They are doing various activities there. Jimena says thanks but she’s too tired and Sara leaves with her sister. Oscar stays with his brother, who immediately asks what the hell are you up to with the twins?

Juan is tired of all the mysterious disappearances and no explanations. He wants to know now what is up. Oscar is as worthless in this conversation as in everything else, and simply deflects telling him to ask the twins. They are your kids, right? Juan says he is his brother and he has an obligation to tell him. Oscar claims he knows his obligations really well (really????) and Juan should try that on someone else. Oscar actually seems to think that if Juan wants to know something about his son’s he should first admit that he doesn’t know everything and that he’s made mistakes as a father! (I think Juan should hit Oscar like he would have 20 years ago! He needs it) Juan laughs instead and tell Oscar to be careful what he says. Oscar’s one sort-of-helpful contribution to this conversation is to advise Juan to get closer to the twins so he can help them because they are in danger. He leaves.

Gaby shows up at the ranch and tells her cousins that Nino escaped from the hospital. Gaby is worried because when Nino disappears, he doesn’t get in touch for a long time. We see Nino approaching his house and he’s greeted by a shotgun but it’s his grandpa who puts the gun down when he realizes it’s Nino. The twins offer to go find Nino as he is probably with his family. Gaby agrees but this time she wants to go with them. They say they can’t go now, dad has them under a microscope they have to find the right time. They don’t promise to take Gaby but they promise they want to help Nino and his family as much as she does. She agrees to trust them.

Rosario is up to what must be her favorite pastime, looking for Muriel, and demanding to know why no one knows where she is! Gunter’s best guess is with Andres and his friends but Rosario isn’t so sure. Muriel is actually with Juan David headed to their secret hideaway. They arrived and the staff is anticipating their arrival and has received instructions, presumably from the owners, the only question is: How long are they going to stay? JD and Muriel look at each other meaningfully (maybe they are moving in? LOL) and there our saga ends until next week.

Pasion

Well there you have it, no one died but they did threaten to kill them all, so I guess it was a near miss. Is it sad that the person I felt the most for in this episode was the gunman? He was just so devastated and life seems so cruel when everyone can just throw a party and enjoy themselves on the worst day of your life! Then we see Bar Alcala is still jumping even after his would-be massacre! It really paints a bleak picture of humanity.

I think the twins are taking this dad is all over our asses stuff a little too far. They have everyone convinced they are practically prisoners, yet they can throw a party with strippers?? Okay whatever! Also pretty sure dad would let them go help Nino and family if they just asked! What a concept. He might even go with them, which I am sure to their faulty judgment seems like a bad idea, but it is actually a really great idea.

Oscar is on my last nerve!!! What an arrogant jackass! His wife was recently nearly killed by his secret son who inadvertently followed the orders of his nightmare mother - whom Oscar cheated on his wife with and bore said son - and he still has the gall to look down on Juan and tell him he needs to recognize he's made mistakes?? URG!!!

Even Juan bugged me a little in this episode. I mean I get that he's hurt and confused and he probably never had to deal with something like this in 20+ years of marriage... but the middle of an active shooter event isn't the time! He left the whole family worried and wondering where he was just to punish Norma. It seems really off that they can't just have a conversation about this (not then and there of course but later at home) after 20+ years of marriage. Interestingly though, I did recently hear that marriages between 20-25 years have the second highest divorce rate - right after those who divorce in the first 2 years.

Weirdo, it's nice to see back on the patio, and yes this is a very unexpected turn of events! Season 1 was no where near this dark although there were some ugly and criminal events in that too. Actually, in season 1, Rosario's first husband tried to kill Franco like 27 times but he was so bad at it that it was more comic relief than cause for concern! It was actually funny watching all the ways the supposedly very professional and capable hit men screwed up every attempt to get him. Juan got kidnapped twice and Gabriela once but the vast majority of the screen time was devoted to developing the love stories - it was mostly light with dark sprinkled in. This is pitch black with no light in sight.

Pasion

Thank you, Darcy, for the detailed and well-written recap!

Wow, you've gotten quite a memory. You remember all this stuff from 20 years ago! I don't even remember what I ate for lunch yesterday, lol.

Kind of an odd episode. I agree, Óscar is just annoying! He's judging Juan, after everything HE did? This man should sit down and think about his life choices. If I were Jimena, I wouldn't have forgiven him for all he's done. I also found the twin thing a bit weird. He went from "I'm going to turn you in!" to "Yeah, I'm not going to tell anyone". Except if I'm missing something, his behaviour is very peculiar.

Poor gunman. I felt bad for him. It must suck if everyone is partying when your spouse just got killed. Even after that, people STILL just didn't care. Humanity never learns, right?

I kind of like the JD-Muriel pre-relationship events. I'm relieved that they (kinda) stopped showing Rosario's obsession with JD. I know it's going to continue, though, so I'm not entirely pleased. This whole storyline wasn't needed. As well as all these perverted ones! One is ok, but all these are giving me the chills!

Lastly, WTH was Gunther talking about when he said Muriel knows how to relax herself? My brain was just (???) at this point.

I'll search for synonyms for "creepy"; I want to find one that starts from "g" for Gunther...

Pasion

Not exactly "creepy", but "ghoulish" fits for Gunther, right? It sounds nice; Ghoulish Gunther...

Pasion

Darcy, what an amazing retelling of a crazy episode. No dead bodies, though? I'm disappointed, they could have at least killed the nasty mayor.
It's true that nobody seemed to care that much about the almost massacre, I guess having a luxurious life styles to go back to does help.

Oscar is just the worst! The nerve ge has to accuse Juan of not being a good father when he has been hiding his son for so many years. Granted he doesn't know what caused Jimena's sickness, but he knows Romina is not a good mom, he just doesn't care to intervene because it's not in his best interest. As I said before, he desperately wants a son, if said son has the right pedigree.

Weirdo, I'm sooo happy you're joining us. With you, Carmella, VVS (hi, always glad to read your comments) and Darcy, we're starting to form a nice patio. I'm always on the run and my recaps are more highlights than anything else, but this story is getting so out of hand, it's becoming fun to laugh at.

Weirdo, I saw season 1 for the first time when it was originally aired 20 years ago, but Telemundo has replayed it several times (including just recently although I didn't watch it that time) and it's been on Netflix, Hulu and is now on the Peacock app. I've seen it a few times not just the original viewing. It's also been adapted a couple times - where they make basically a different version of the same story. In 2015 Telemundo aired Tierra de Reyes, which was a updated version of the original - the character names and certain details were different but the basic plot line was the same - and I watched that twice as well. So I am not just remembering from 20 years ago. I wish my memory was that good! This is one of my favorite shows....or at least it was before season 2, lol. Now we will have to wait and see.

The thing with Oscar and the twins is that when he first saw the video he thought they had murdered the Professor. He initially reacted like a hot headed jerk, spouted off at the mouth and said all kinds of horrible hateful things and then as he was rushing off to turn them in, his emotions caught up with his big mouth and he realized that he actually does love his nephews and he couldn't bring himself to do what he said he would do. When he finally calmed down enough to actually listen to their story he believed them, so he's no longer thinking they are murders.

I have no idea what Gunter was talking about with Muriel, he is a odd duckling to put it lightly.

Another excellent, well written recap Darcy! Thank you so much for your attention to detail, it really helps navigating through this mess! I don’t even know where to begin, lol! I honestly felt sorry for the gunman! He’d just lost his young wife and obviously felt both angry and alone. Wanting to strike out against someone, anyone is a natural reaction. Unfortunately he chose to take out his grief on the very uncaring “well-to-do.”

I also feel bad for Juan, but don’t at the same time. He’s so reserved——an obvious part of his personality, but he should be able to tell Norma that her closeness to Albin bothers him. Cut with the silent treatment and claim your wife! I don’t agree with how Norma openly flirts with Albin, and I definitely didn’t agree with her running out of the party without Juan ( she’s supposed to be his ride or die) but there is nothing——-and I do mean nothing that should be able to come between them at this point. They should be the “united” front that everyone looks to and up to.

Oscar is an idiot with a lot of NERVE, like you pointed out Darcy! He has no credibility in my eyes, and I hope Jimena smacks the crap out of him just before leaving him when she finds out about Duvan. I wonder what Juan will think of his baby brother then too?
Oscar’s not man enough to claim it even though he made it, and Duvan will realize this and hate him for it when he gets older.

The twins were back to their old tricks, and in unlikable mode again. They are very disrespectful of their home and parents , and act like privileged snots! Don Martin had it right when he called them “mischievous kids,” although they’re now young men that don't act like it. How do they expect anyone to take them seriously when they act like this!?!?

I’m looking forward to more of JD and Muriel, but not certain other events. This novela is a mess right now, but I hope it settles down and a wonderful story emerges. All this darkness and bad behavior makes me want to run in another direction, lol!

Thanks again so much Darcy! Welcome Weirdo!

Herc S2 #87 part 1

Miran and family return to the Hopeless Mansion, where he hardly waits to unload on Azra. What are you trying to do, he asks, why are you bringing that woman into our lives? That woman is my mother, Azra replies. And we catch Dilsah’s stricken look. Perhaps, Miran answers, but that wasn’t the time to make an entrance and strut in front of everyone. [The great Me-ran doesn’t like being upstaged.]

Rey tries to stop things from escalating. She tells Miran it doesn't matter. He insists it does and says they could have waited. Azra shoots back, for years I thought she was dead! I dreamed of seeing her face and smelling her scent [lol, must be sulfurous]. I don’t want to spend another second away from her. Dilsah suffers silently. Sukran lowers her head.

Miran gives her that. I’m not forbidding you from living your truth [how big of him], but that wasn’t the time or place. Taking that woman to the opening… Azra interrupts, I’ll say it again. That woman, as you call her, is my mother. As long as I’m here, she will be with me. If you don’t like it, that’s fine. Azra threatens, I can move into her mansion whenever I want. Dilsah rushes to Azra and tells her, don’t even think about it. In that case, Azra says, please accept the fact that Fusun Aslanbey is my mother!

Flashback to Azra and Azize meeting at night in an outlying area. Azize asks how the meeting went. Azra replies, it was just like you said. She (Fusun) was suspicious at first, but then she believed I accepted her as my mother. Azize says they can’t be overconfident. Fusun is dangerous. That woman is the devil incarnate [takes one to know one]. Azize warns, you can’t say a word until she’s been fully convinced and has given in 100%.

Azra assures Azize, you worry that I will feel some compassion towards her and I may ruin this, but I won’t. Azize says, not matter what happens, that woman is your mother. If you soften towards her, there will be no turning back. I’ve defeated Fusun before. If you can’t help me, if you’re going to show her mercy, tell me now. Azra is certain she won’t show any mercy to the woman who showed none to her. I won’t rest until she goes through all I went through, Azra states. But Azize doesn’t look so sure.

She tells Azra that ReyMir can’t know about this yet. She doesn’t want to drag them into this mess. Azra says she had to tell them, or Azize would have left. Nevertheless, Azize wants ReyMir out of it. They shouldn’t suffer any consequences, she says, they can’t know we are working together. Azra says don’t worry. End flashback.

Back to the Hopeless patio. Azra has gone to her room. Miran asks Dilsah, what do you mean she’s going to be with us? How much longer will we have to deal with her? [I guess he means Fusun?] Rey tells Mir to let go of this for now. They can talk in the morning, everyone is too upset. Sukran agrees. Dilsah speaks up, what do we do? Let Azra move in with the Aslanbeys? No one said that, Sukran replies, calm down. Dilsah is worked up and wants everyone to know she won’t allow Azra to move in with that woman.

ReyMir enter their bedroom. She knows he is angry that they (Azra and Fusun) ruined their night. [I’m not quite sure how the whole night was ruined by the revelation, but we are talking about Me-ran] We did what we set out to do, Rey says. Didn’t you see how the girls’ eyes sparkled with joy? He knows but adds an “I can’t help it”, which we know all too well. Did you see the look on Fusun’s face, he asks? She enjoyed the spectacle. And Azra was her accomplice. That’s what really bothers me, he says.

Herc S2 #87 part 2

Rey says she doesn’t like Fusun either, but she understands Azra and even understands Fusun. Miran doesn’t understand. Rey explains, the time a mother spends with her children is precious. Nothing can replace it. I’d do anything to spend another second with Umut. I understand the joy they feel when they’re together. She takes his hand and says don’t be mad at Azra. He hugs her. If only everyone were a tenth as compassionate as you are, he says. My son and I are very lucky. You are my angel, he tells her.

Azra gets a call from Azize, who demands an explanation for what she did at the Foundation. Trust and loyalty, Azize Hanım, Azra answers, she (Fusun) won’t believe me unless I show her trust and loyalty. I was forced to do it. Azize goes silent and Azra thinks she’s hung up. Whatever, Azize replies, just don’t act on your own again. Don’t plan anything without my permission. Just do what I asked. Azra closes the call. [Looks like Azra might have her own agenda now or maybe she’s siding with Fusun?]

A post mortem is going on at the Sad konak. Hazar says Fusun didn’t care about the Foundation, she was waiting for tonight to drop that bomb. Zehra adds that Fusun is using Azra. Nasuh opines, being Fusun’s daughter is already a curse. Hazar says Azra should be grateful, her mother could be worse. [lol] Zehra tries to shush him for Nasuh’s sake. Hazar says he’s not lying. She is lucky she is not Azize’s daughter.

Cihan and Handan enter the room and get the update on Azra and Fusun. That little hamster wheel in Cihan’s head starts to turn—I’ve got you now, Fusun Aslanbey. You won’t be able to play the same game anymore. My daughter’s life in exchange for your daughter’s.

Azat and Gonul meet somewhere outside. Ever the gentleman, he gives her his coat because it’s cold. Won’t you be cold, she asks. Not when I am with you, he replies. She leans her head on him, he puts his arm around her. Gonul is still trying to process the Azra – Fusun revelation. Azat is surprised she didn’t know. He says he feels sorry for ReyMir because their night was ruined. Gonul is sure that ReyMir can overcome this, too.

Gonul continues, I’ve had it with all the secrets everyone keeps. Is it so hard to be honest? [secrets and lies are the stuff that dizis and TNs are made of!] It’s always something, she says, I uncover a new secret every day. I’ve had it! Azat gets a troubled look and Gonul immediately picks up on it. What’s wrong? At first he says it’s nothing but then…. Gonul says, tell me, Azat. I called you here, he says hesitantly, I wanted to find the right time, but you are here now, and I don’t know how to tell you. Just tell me, Gonul says, is it about you? No, he replies, it’s about us.

Cut to another couple, Firat and Zeynep. I think they are out on the road that leads to the olive grove. She asks him why they are there. I’ve always wanted a family of my own, he says, a family I belonged to. When I opened my eyes, I was in the Aslanbey konak. Azize, my grandmother, and the three of us grew up like siblings in that house. Miran was my brother and Gonul… I loved them so much. You’re still family, Zeynep says, Miran sees you as his brother. Firat sighs.

When you look at it that way, everything seems fine, Firat tells her. My mother, our grandmother, my cousins, we all lived at the Aslanbey konak. Years later I learned that I was actually an Aslanbey. That wasn’t enough though. I felt empty inside…. Until I saw you on this very spot. He takes her hand and they face each other.

Herc S2 #87 part 3

Zeynep recalls it and smiles. He remembers it well, including what she was wearing. You made me so angry, he tells her, but you looked at me in such a way… you looked straight into my eyes and for the first time ever, I felt whole. I know this may seem sudden, but it isn’t. I feel whole when I’m with you. Zeynep… I want us to start a family together. I want us to become one.

He presents a diamond ring and asks, benimle evlenir misin? Will you marry me? She’s overwhelmed and can’t even speak. Okay, he tells her, you don’t have to answer now. Think about it as much as you want. Maybe you have questions for me. Zeynep looks him in they eyes and answers, I… I haven’t thought about anything else since we met. My mind and heart are tied to you. How were you able to keep it a secret for so long, he asks? They laugh. He puts the ring on her finger and kisses it. Are we really getting married, he asks? We are, she replies. A kiss.

That scene was well done and had me feeling good, until…

We go back to Azat and Gonul. She’s still trying to get the words out of him. When I said us, Azat tells her, I meant our families. I meant Yaren, Harun… he babbles and hesitates, then drops the bomb: Yaren killed Harun. Cara de impactada de Gonul.

Breakfast at Hopeless Mansion. Miran has let Rey sleep in and Dilsah thinks that was a good idea [ha!] Azra excuses herself to go to the hospital, but Miran wants to have that pending conversation. Dilsah wants to go to her room, but Miran asks her to stay. Azra cautions Miran if he’s going to carry on like last night, then don’t bother.

Miran apologizes to her, his anger got the best of him. [get used to it, Azra] He explains that the Foundation means a lot to him, and he and Rey worked so hard on it. He couldn’t keep it in check and he’s sorry. I couldn’t believe Fusun was the anonymous benefactor, he says. What is wrong with that, Azra asks? She made a big donation, it’s wonderful.

Miran is not so sure and says time will tell. Last night I spoke with Reyyan and after listening to her, she helped me think things over calmly. I’ll be very honest, he says, Fusun isn’t someone I like or trust. But no matter what happens, she is your mother. Miran would like them all to forget what he said last night and for Azra to enjoy her time with Fusun. Look at unhappy Dilsah. But, Miran adds, this is your home. You won’t be going anywhere. We are your family, understand? Azra smiles and nods. Dilsah tells Azra, we just want you with us. And all Azra wants is for them to accept that Fusun is her mother. Miran and Azra leave but Dilsah still looks uneasy.

It's the board meeting for the new president. Azat announces that Miran is the only candidate and if there are no objections, then they will discuss the agenda under Miran’s leadership. Firat raises his hand and says, Miran isn’t the only candidate, I’m one also. As a representative of the Aslanbey family, I’d like to nominate myself. Uh, oh.

Reyyan is slow to wake up and get out of bed. When she comes out on the balcony, she is greeted by Zehra who has made Rey’s favorite börek. They don’t notice that Dilsah is eavesdropping. Zehra says she knows things are not good because of that woman… Rey shushes her. Zehra will not be shushed. That woman needs psychological treatment. What happens when you have your baby, Zehra asks, will she be able to watch him? Talk to Miran and have him make arrangements.

Herc S2 #87 part 4

Dilsah is fuming and walks away so she doesn't hear what Rey has to say. What would that accomplish, she asks Zehra. You don’t know everything she’s been through. She’s not a danger to me but to herself. Once her grandson is born, her love for him will help her heal. Zehra tells Rey, don’t ignore my advice, talk to Miran. [Zehra is the only smart one in this case. Why does everyone else refuse to get Dilsah the help she needs?] Rey invites her mom to have tea, but she needs to get back to little Bahar, who seemingly has become an only child.

They are about to take a vote at the board meeting, when Miran withdraws his candidacy. You can tell he’s ticked about the whole thing but claims he’s doing this for his brother. He gives Firat a very curt congrats and leaves the room. Uneasy silence in the room.

On his way out, Miran spots Fusun with her smug look in the lobby. He manages to hold his tongue and storms out. Fusun laughs. Outside, Miran says to himself that Firat knifed him in the back and drives off. Inside, Fusun says, the lion remains still until it’s hungry, Miran. You can share your food or it will destroy your camp. Firat didn’t ignore my advice and followed his own path. What ever happens, will benefit you, Fusun, she tells herself.

Cihan speaks with Azat outside the board room. He tells his son they should show some opposition otherwise it will be a disaster. Gonul comes out of the room and Azat tells his dad he needs to stay behind to take care of paperwork. He will catch up later.

Azat tells Gonul he called and left messages, but she never answered. What’s going on? She snarks, I didn’t want to answer, I was scared you might want to confess another dark secret. I can’t stand this drama, she says. Azat explains he was waiting for the right time [?!] She understands alright. You waited until I fell in love with you, for us to be alone at night and then you confessed. You waited because then I wouldn’t care that your sister killed my cousin. That wasn’t the case, she says, I care. Your plan had no results. She walks away. Stupid Azat.

Cihan spots Fusun on his way out and takes his opportunity. He congratulates her. She thinks he means about the presidency, but he means being reunited with her daughter, Azra. So you have a daughter, too, he says, we are even. You care for my daughter, and I’ll care for yours. Threat delivered.

Dilsah is waiting for Rey in her room. Dilsah Anne? Don’t call me mother, Dilsah replies, you are nothing to me. Rey is taken aback. What did I do? What do you think, Dilsah says. You made it possible for Miran and Azize to make peace. You helped them take my daughter from me! Are you satisfied? My daughter thinks Fusun is her mother. Dilsah shouts, are you happy?

Rey orders Dilsah to get out of her room. Dilsah grabs a hold of Rey. She accuses Rey of controlling Miran but now she’s got Rey. She shows Rey her phone with the pic of the document Rey signed. Delete it, Rey cries out, Miran can’t know about this! I won’t tell him, Dilsah says, if I show this to Miran, he will make you abort the baby and he will save you. I don’t want him to save you, she snarls, I want you dead.

Ooops…. The camera pulls back to reveal Miran in the room. Mother? Reyyan? Miran wants an explanation. Now! This was the end of Turkish ep 61.

We cut to Zehra cooking in what looks to be the Sad kitchen but somehow she overhears Miran confront Dilsah out on the balcony next door. Miran shouts, what did Reyyan do? Why do you want her dead?! Dilsah pleads, let me go. Miran demands to know why Dilsah has a problem with Reyyan. He reminds her that Rey means everything to him. Zehra leaves her kitchen so she can hear a little better. Miran continues to shout, I want to know everything!

Herc S2 #87 part 5

Okay, Dilsah says, I’ll tell you everything. Of course, Rey tries to diffuse the situation before Dilsah can spill the beans, soup and Turkish tea. Both Miran and Dilsah dismiss her pleas. Dilsah says, I wanted Reyyan dead because… she’s protecting Azize! I’ve suffered so much, and she continues to protect her. Azize ruined my life! Miran still doesn’t understand how Reyyan is involved in this. What did she do to deserve this treatment?!

Rey desperately wants Miran to drop the subject. He doesn’t. I know what you went through, he tells Dilsah, I went through it too. I suffered in your absence, I didn’t have a father. You’re important to me and I only ask of you one thing. Please don’t bother Reyyan. But Reyyan can bother me, Dilsah fires back, it’s okay for me to go through this?

Zehra charges into the fray, making a beeline for Dilsah. Miran holds her back. Zehra unloads on Dilsah, Reyyan’s life has been hell since you came to this house. [most of Rey’s life has been hell, hasn’t it?] She’s pregnant! Won’t you feel bad if anything happens to Reyyan or the baby? Would you feel guilt or remorse? If you have a problem with Azize, talk to her! Reyyan just wants peace for us. Reyyan has a pure heart and is willing to leave everything in the past. What do you want, Dilsah?

A pure heart, Dilsah scoffs, are you serious? Zehra replies, Reyyan has never lied or hurt anyone. She just wants what’s best for everyone. Dilsah snarks at Reyyan, is that right? She asks if Rey is afraid. Now Hazar arrives home and hears the argument next door.

Reyyan doesn’t feel well and Miran goes to her. She asks Miran to do something about the feuding mothers, who are now arguing about the Azra and Fusun revelation.

Hazar shows up and says their shouts can be heard out on the street. Dilsah preys upon his sympathy, thank goodness you’re here, no one understands me. Zehra’s eyeballs pop in disbelief and she tells Hazar she came over to save Reyyan from “this woman”. She’s crazy and she’ll hurt Reyyan! Dilsah accuses them of defending Azize and adds she’s not crazy. You know what I’ve been through!

Of course, this gets Hazar riled up. How could you defend Azize, he asks Miran. Miran denies this and tries to explain but Hazar cuts him off. I told you not to bring Azize back. Look at the state we are in. Look at the state Dilsah is in. Is it worth it for Azize’s sake? Dilsah faints into Hazar’s arms. [raise your hand if you think she’s faking]

Azize speaks with Fusun outside the company. I see you can’t stand upright without your cane, Fusun. I know Cihan’s threats are too much for you. That man can’t touch me, Fusun replies. I suggest you be careful, Azize tells her, Cihan isn’t like the others. He’s not as merciful as his father and brother. I’m not like you, Fusun responds. I’m not one to bury my three sons and two grandchildren and sit and watch. I will bury the person who dares to hurt my daughter. Azize questions, just like you buried your son’s murderer? Her grave is ready, Fusun says, and waiting for the right time.

Admit I won, Fusun continues, I won my daughter over and I put an Aslanbey on the board. I see you finally accepted Firat as an Aslanbey, Azize notes. If I hadn’t, everything would have gone to you and your seed. Accept you lost, Azize. Fusun gets in her car. Azize says we’ll see who won and who lost.

Hazar and Miran worry over the still “unconscious” Dilsah. He asks Miran to explain what happened. Mom said some harsh things to Reyyan, he tells Hazar, and it turned into an argument. I feel hurt by mom’s attitude towards Reyyan and I don’t know what to do.

Herc S2 #87 part 6

Hazar tries to reassure Miran. Your mother bears no ill will towards Reyyan, he says and he blames Azize for making Dilsah like this. And he can’t understand why Miran is making an effort to forgive her. At least the two of them decide to call a doctor to help Dilsah. When Hazar says they will take Dilsah to Istanbul if necessary, the faker opens her eyes, then quickly closes them again. Dilsah’s recovery is all that matters, Hazar tells his son.

Rey panics in her room. She has to find a way to stop Dilsah from outing her. Miran comes to check on Rey. He apologizes for his mother. I’m getting to know her alongside you, he says. Reyyan excuses Dilsah’s behavior. It doesn’t matter, Miran says, she can’t treat you like this. She especially can’t say what she said. I promise to do everything to help her recover her health so you can be at peace.

Miran tells Rey she has to promise something, too. Don’t be sad. They hug. But Miran is still thinking about the argument. He asks, is this really just about Azize or is there something else that’s bothering you two? That’s it, nothing else, Rey replies. Miran doesn’t buy it. Why did my mom ask if you were afraid? Probably because I tried to end the conversation, Rey fudges.

Miran gets a call from Reyyan’s doctor. He hopes it’s nothing serious. Rey looks at her phone and tells him not to pick up, let me call her. Too late, Miran answers his phone, hello doctor, is something wrong? We don’t hear what she says but we see a concerned look on Miran’s face.

And we are out.

Many thanks, dondi356, for yet another superb recap. And I loved your snarky side comments, starting with Azra's saying of Fusun, "I dreamed of seeing her face and smelling her scent [lol, must be sulfurous]."

Like you, dondi356, I'm not sure just where Azra stands and whether she has her own agenda. Certainly Azra's very strong statements about Fusun's being her mother are causing a lot of pain to the person who has regarded her as a daughter for almost her entire life.

The scene between Firat and Zeynep was just about the only bright spot in the entire episode. For a while, Zeynep's facial expresion made me fear that perhaps this relationship, too, is about to come crashing down. But no, either I misinterpreted her look or the writers were deliberately playing with us again.

I'm definitely not a fan of Cihan, but I think "that little hamster wheel in Cihan's head" produces quite a reasonable idea. Fusun's daughter's vulnerability helps assure that Fusun will not hurt Yaren: "My daughter’s life in exchange for your daughter’s."

I found one of Reyyan's statements to Miran somewhat odd. She tells him, "I’d do anything to spend another second with Umut." Although he doesn't realize it, what she's saying (I think) is that she'd give anything to be able tp survive giving birth to Umut and be with him as he's growing up. But I'm a little surprised that Miran doesn't find her wording strange.

As for Dilsah, wow, she gets more venemous with each episode. She's even willing to sacrifice her potential grandson so that Reyyan will die.

I don't have much else to say. I'm definitely ready for this dizi to end. I wish you had said we'd just finished Turkish episode 68 rather than 61. But of course I remain VERY grateful to you for your terrific recaps and for all you add about Turkey and Turkish customs/beliefs.

Hercai

Dondi, thank you so much for an excellent retelling of every bad deed.

Dilsah has turned into a real piece of work. yikes . Remember when we thought she might somehow get reunited with Hazar since she was his one true love , and he was filled with melancholy for that sweet lost love .And now....scary, nasty Dilsah . I hope Mir and Hazard follow through on getting her counseling .

I am confused Azar.It seems that Azz thinks Azar is just pretending that she accepts Fus as her mother , but is Azar actually accepting Fus and fooling Azz. I thought Azar was supposedly close to Dilsah .

Well, this show has confused me from the start. I do love the konaks. Amazing. I wonder when they were built. Turkey culture and architecture is fascinating .

Herc

Superb absolutely dondi356! Great recap! Love your use of “Hopeless!” Hahaha! And it’s sad but true. Nothing and no one to hope for. The only one who seems to have some is the one who started this mess in the first place——-Azize! She still thinks that she can make things right——-oh well……

I’m not liking this Reyyan. She was strong and fearless at one point, but now she runs around running interference so that Miran won’t find out her secret until he does. So exhausting! What a terrible first pregnancy for her! Like I said before, it sucks to be Reyyan…….At least Zehra is nearby, and has proven to be a fierce momma bear. Dilsah’s hate is misplaced and since she can’t attack and beat the real culprit again, she’s found an easy target in Reyyan. Azize, Fusun, Dilsah, Mahmoud, Nasuh, Cihan, Yaren, Fusun’s henchman and probably a few more should all be in jail! These people not only hurt each other physically and emotionally, but they get the chance to do it over and over again. Like WTH!

Hazar is a steady disappointment, and Miran has seen his mother, twice now, attack his pregnant wife! I’m sorry Momma, but you gotta go! Go live with Granny Sukran in the quiet village in that humble home of hers. Dilsah is on the edge and before she makes Zehra push her off, she needs to go and live far enough away………and take Hazar’s complaining azz with ya!

I don’t like Cihan either, but I’m glad he’s got one up on Fusun. Funny how Cihan is always ready to let you know exactly where he stands. Usually that’s a trait to admire, but he’s so sneaky, jealous and petty that “admiration” doesn’t look good on him…..

And why exactly is Gonul mad at Azat? Please you two!! Y’all have come a long way, so don’t let anything stop you now !

Yes, the highlight was Firat and Zeynep and she said yes. I was very, very glad to see that! For a minute there, I thought that that was where they were going with Azat and Gonul too……

I’m totally confused by Azar????

Thanks again dondi356! Mucho, mucho gracias!

Another stunner, dondi! Loved the perfect descriptions and right-on-target snark.

They are larding on the foreshadowing or is it deceptive foreshadowing? Lots of hints last night about Reyyan not rearing Umit. Sigh. I'm definitely on the side of she lives.

Great description of Cihan's "hamster wheel". And he definitely got one up on the Sulfurous Fusun. I'm starting to dread every scene she's in. It's probably the actor not being as skilled as the one playing Azize, but, as Carmella said, she just looks constipated. And she gloats way too much.

What? Yaren killed Harun accidentally. Azat doesn't put in this key fact but just baldly says Yaren killed him. And, even if she deliberately shot him from 5 feet away, why does this mean Gonul can't be with Azat?

Loved "get used to it Azra". Everyone in the cast has had to accustom themselves to Angry Bangs.

Eavesdroppers ALWAYS walk away before the conversational pair say the mitigating words that change the whole sense of what was first overheard.

Ha! Bahar is now an only child! I'm wondering if Gul was so popular with Turkish Viewerville that her parents demanded a salary increase and the writers got even.

So Dilsah wants Reyyan to die. It makes no sense that she holds that document over Reyyan. If she wants her gone, she'd just know about its existence and never even mention it.

When asked for a show of hands, mine shot way up vis a vis Dilsah faking. I don't know if Susanlynn's autocorrect did it or if it was on purpose, but she called him Hazard. He barged in on Zehra's quite proper dressing down of the threat to Reyyan represented by Dilsah. And went into a male Sadoglu rant about Azize's misdeeds. The writers have given Hazard a partial lobotomy 3/4 of the way through.

Pasion

Adriana, 'No dead bodies, though? I'm disappointed, they could have at least killed the nasty mayor.' Yep it's the ultimate bait and switch: He gets a gun and yells 'Nobody is getting out of here alive!' and then he lets everyone live! Every single person...LOL It reminds me of a scene from an old movie (I think it was Ever After but I can't remember) where the Prince is telling someone something along the lines of how he'd promised to run away and never come back but he hadn't gotten far. The person asks why not, and he says 'Well I suppose I like conviction!!' :)

Carmella I agree the devil twins are back! We just had the week of reprieve where we were tricked into believing they were actual human beings. The actor playing Eric did a great drunk rant though, it was hilarious I have to give him that. But I still think JD should back off and stop trying to parent his brothers. Not because I want them to get away with their antics but because they need to deal with their dad. JD is doing the same thing Oscar is - but in a different more inadvertent way - he's providing a buffer between them and Juan and what they really need is Juan. Because Juan is the smartest apple in this bunch, he's the one that is going to be able to help them through this Prof mess, it sure isn't going to be hapless Oscar. And as they may fear their father and his disappointment, what they are ultimately going to fell when he finally finds out is relief that they no longer have to carry the burden of the secret. And maybe, just maybe being forced to own up to their actions in the light of day will allow them to finally grow up!

What a splendid read dondi356! Your snark-o-meter was on overdrive for this episode!

I am certain Fusun smells of sulfur and Dilsah was totally faking. Azar really has me puzzled. I thought she was a double agent but she might have her own agenda at this point.

I said earlier this week that I really missed Gul. Do these writers think we were just going to forget key characters like her?

I wish Miran would pack up Reyyan and move to Istanbul for the rest of the pregnancy.

It was interesting that Firat put his name in the hat for presidency against Miran. Of course, Mr. Pouty wasn’t going to stand for an actual election and pulled his name out of contention. Is Firat playing a double agent game too?

The one positive of the epi was the proposal. I am glad Zeynep said yes! I guess it has been a very long time that anyone has bought me jewelry, but I really like those new jewelry boxes with the built-in lights! The necklace Miran gave Reyyan for the Foundation shindig had three cool looking lights too.

Terrific dondi356! Thank you!

Thank you Adriana and Darcy for the pumping out these awesome recaps! I keep falling behind due to stupid work, lol.

I also don’t understand why JD acts like mini-dad with the devil twins. Gramps was sure having fun with those strippers!

The whole San Marcos Massacre (thanks Adriana) was certainly interesting. No one, not the police or the alcalde, even thanked Juan for taking out the would-be shooter. Norma didn’t even know her hubby was a hero. That one tear sliding down his cheek while he sat in the bedroom made me sad.

Drunk Eric made me laugh. He didn’t hold back the insult punches with JD of course until he was actually punched by JD.

I hope Nino is okay and I am glad that Demitrio is gone for a few days. Hopefully the DNA underneath that poor girls’ fingernails will lead to taking this loser down.

Looks like JD and Muriel have the run of the hacienda next door! Looks like fun!

Weirdo, so glad you joined us! I liked your attempt to summon Franco!

Thanks again for the recaps!

Thank you to Carmella and Adriana (and everyone else) for the kind words of welcome! It sure is a nice patio ;)

Darcy, thanks for clearing the Óscar thing up. I couldn't wait to start commenting and read through the last pages a bit fast, lol.

VVS, thanks. The attempt was unsuccessful though :( Maybe we can all try to summon him at once? I'll try again: FRANCO FRANCO FRANCO, COME TO SEASON 2!!!

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words and great comments.

ITA, Juanita, that Azra’s “statements about Fusun's being her mother are causing a lot of pain to the person who has regarded her as a daughter for almost her entire life.” I felt for Dilsah in that moment.

Most of Cihan’s plans start out reasonable but somehow turn bad. He underestimates his opponents. He lacks the ability to play the longer game like Azize and Fusun. Those women are evil grandmasters. Fusun is not the kind to “sit and watch” as she said to Azize, so she will find another way to hurt Cihan.

carmella, good point about Dilsah’s misplaced hate. I am very upset with her supposed loved ones because they have delayed in getting her the help she desperately needs.

Yes, Susanlynn, I had hopes for Dilsah’s return but the writers blew it. And I’m with you on Turkish culture, etc. Fascinating history.

I think poor Gonul was expecting a proposal, but Azat gave her a live grenade instead of a diamond. The contrast with Firat and Zeynep was effective.

I think you are on to something, novelera. They are “larding on the foreshadowing” and it’s likely deceptive. We will get over the top birthing drama but I’m leaning towards Rey and Umut surviving. “The writers have given Hazard a partial lobotomy”…Lol. Someone gave lobotomies to the writers!

I see we are all wondering about Azra. Is she a double agent, as VVS said? Or does she have a separate agenda? We didn’t hear Fusun explain her side of the story to Azra. That would be key.

VVS, we can add “Mr. Pouty” to our long list of nicknames for Miran. Interesting thought that Firat might be playing double agent.

Cardinal and Peacocks, dance on!
