Hercai #2 - #109 – entitled Cihan es el Héroe - Parte 1 de 2
We begin with the rest of the flashback. Cihan, Miran, and the Fusun’s Goon they captured arrive…somewhere. The erstwhile goon says that Sabri lives here. “My wife told the couple that they should go to Bursa with the child. Then she called again later and said they should return and wait for a call.” Cihan knocks out the goon with his pistol butt. He and Miran approach a car. The guy who we saw get the big sack of money, along with Umut, is yanked out of the car and hit on the head. The woman hands over Umut. Cihan, a seasoned father, brings a wrap for Umut. Miran kisses his son.
Back to the present and Handan tells Cihan that the cops are after him. [NOW they’re protecting and serving.] Miran says that they know that his father was killed by Fusun. Nasuh growls that he’ll make her pay, and Reyyan looks disturbed. Reyyan then thanks Cihan for what he did and tells him that her father would be proud of him. In full redemption mode Cihan tells her he’ll always help her. Reyyan doesn’t let Miran touch Umut and is chilly with him. After she leaves with the baby, Nasuh tells Miran to give her time.
Miran follows Cihan into the street. He tells Cihan that he’ll have Nasuh bring Hercan to say that Fusun is responsible and that he, Miran, hid the gun there. Cihan says there’s no hurry. “Go be with your wife and child. Umut is also MY family.” The two almost hug, but not quite.
The couple who had Umut are telling Fusun about what happened. Fusun is livid and tells Halit to take them away before she kills them herself. “They have my daughter and assume I killed Hazar!” She screams in frustration.
Mahfuz comes upstairs to see Reyyan. He tells Asiye that she’ll have more to do until Zehra comes back from her mother’s funeral. {Huh. When did this happen?] Reyyan is happy to see Mahfuz (as are we all). He says he became a grandfather before he was a father. He asks her to please listen to him. He says he’s grown to love Miran. He respects his transformation. [Huh?] “I’ve never known anyone who loves as deeply as Miran and tries to be just while protecting his loved ones. If I had been in his shoes, I’d have obeyed Fusun. I never would have thought of seeking out Cihan. Miran didn’t fall in that trap. Even though Cihan had become his enemy, Miran didn’t want to be unjust. He discovered who had killed his father, saved his son, and didn’t harm anyone else. He thinks of only you day and night, and of Umut.”
Reyyan: “If he goes back to his hatred or his sense of justice, neither my son nor I will be in his life.”
Cihan is back at his favorite hangout: Hazar’s grave. He tells his brother that Umut was recovered and also that he and Miran made peace. “Nasuh says that Miran and I are twin souls; perhaps this is why we didn’t get along. How could you stay so pure considering all that happened to you? I miss you so much. You are a man that can’t be replaced. I’m going to change every single thing you didn’t like about me. But, first, I’m going to avenge your death, and then I’ll change.”
Nasuh tells Miran that it’s hard for Azize to change after 50 years. Miran gets very sad, saying that he was just learning how to be a son. Starting to cry he asks why Hazar had to die. He wanted a bit more time with him. He didn’t get a chance to tell him he loved him. He tells Nasuh that they have to take Hercan to the police tomorrow to clear Cihan’s name. Nasuh is very relived that the two of them made peace. He only wishes Hazar could have seen it. Miran sees a shooting star and wonders if Hazar is watching them from above.
Azra is happy Umut was saved, but she’s still angry at Azize. Cihan enters, having brought Hercan along.
Hercai #2 - #109 – entitled Cihan es el Héroe - Parte 2 de 2
Miran again talks to a sleeping Reyyan asking if she can forgive him. He says he didn’t tell her but his father chewed him out before he died, for going to be with Azize. “It worried him so much that he slapped me. I wanted to hug him and cry, but I could not do it. I have so much remorse. I didn’t have enough of his love. I concentrated on being a son instead of a husband and a father. Please understand, not your husband Miran, but the little Miran who lost his father. Forgive me, my love.” He moves away and we see that she wasn’t asleep.
Cihan tells Azize that Hercan is here to tell her the truth of what happened. He goes on to say that the autopsy report in two days will prove that he’s telling the truth. “I swore to my brother I’d save his grandson, but now it’s time to avenge his death.” Azize: “So Fusun killed my son.” She says that she’ll take care of Fusun. Cihan says that they’ll do it together or he’ll do it alone. She’s not the only one hurt. Azize says they need to get Fusun out of that konak. They plan to use Azra.
Fusun is raging at Halit, blaming him for everything. Rrrrring. Azra aka Gunes is calling her black-hearted mother. She announces that Azize freed her. And that her mother was right; she should be with her. Fusun says it should not be today, rather tomorrow. She’ll send someone for Azra. After she hangs up Fusun snarls at Halit that he should get a LOT of men, maybe half the men in Midyat, for her plan. “I’m leaving here with my dear Gunes, but I will finish off the Sadoglu family first." [Will we have to wait until the very last episode to see a stake in this vampire’s heart?]
Azra tells Azize and Cihan that Fusun not only harmed Miran and Reyyan, but she also harmed Umut. Azize says she won’t permit another war, but Hazar asked her to care for his children. Miran should not be involved. Cihan: “You will avenge your son and I will avenge my brother. Miran will be the man of the family. Hercan says he’ll accept any punishment. He deserves it. [Hmmm. He was supposed to let Fusun kill his family to protect the Sadoglus?]
Miran is sleeping on a sofa when he hears Reyyan come down with Umut. She’s looking for milk. [I was a bit confused by this. She said something about not having milk. Did they mean she had been nursing and stress dried it up? Or did they mean she didn’t have milk (formula) in the house?] She leaves the room to get another layer of clothing for Umut and Miran talks to the baby. He says that his mother is right being angry with him. He also comes up with the saying from that long ago weeper, Love Story: “Love means never having to say you’re sorry.” Reyyan listens to what he says to Umut and then rushes in.
Miran put the formula in the microwave. Then he leaves to buy more. Back in her bedroom Rey tells Umut how much she loves his father. Miran comes in saying Asiye found some more formula and helped heat it. He wants to feed the baby, and does so, amazed at the sight. When Umut stops sucking, Rey says he needs a diaper change. [She’s been a mother for around 10 days; now she’s an expert.] While Miran makes sappy remarks to Reyyan and promises her he’ll change, Umut pees on his daddy. [Everyone who’s had a male child can relate.] They kiss. But then she seems to revert to unhappiness and asks him to leave.
Halit shows up the next day to see the Old Gasbag. She asks if he has the army she wanted. He says that half of them will assault the konaks, and the other half will come with them. Fusun then calls Azra and tells her where to come. Azra then tells Cihan and Azize not to do it. Azize gives her one of those looks and asks: “Where did they tell you to come?”
Well detailed and written recap novelera, thank you! I often wonder what makes writers use flashbacks as opposed to just showing it beforehand? Especially when it doesn’t make too much of a difference whether they do or not. I think that “ time” is the key factor, and the flashbacks that they’re showing just happened yesterday, not like the back story of Azize and her revenge, which was much more relevant in flashbacks.
I understand completely where Reyyan is concerned regarding her attitude toward Miran, but still, it’s not like she didn’t know what she was getting when she decided to stay married to him. Yes, having Umut is a game changer, and hopefully Miran sees that now, but people don’t change overnight, if ever. She either has to lower her expectations and stay with him, or prepare for a life of frustration and hot angry makeup sex, lol. I really got Miran when he admitted that what he does comes from the place of a little boy——-something we all pretty much concluded about him a long time ago.
I truly hope that we won’t have to wait for that “stake” in Fu-poo’s vampire heart till the very end!! I swear the woman always walks like she’s just gotten off a horse, or maybe it’s just an over abundance of gas, lol. Her anger fits and threats just fall flat for me. She doesn’t emote well, and there’s a dissociation between what she says and how she says it. I disagree with Cihan and Azize plotting to kill Fu-poo right in front of Azra! No matter what Fu is, she’s still Azra’s mother. Poor Azra has been through a lot too, and having to come to terms with the mother she has, has been very difficult for her. These people have no compassion, only the need for blood thirsty revenge. Another reason why I get Reyyan.
Mahfouz continues to impress, calm, logical and caring man that he is. Reyyan is so fortunate to have had and have two stand up men for fathers. It may have taken Mahfouz a trip around the world to get there, but he has definitely arrived! I don’t want him with Zehra, but he deserves a good woman…….
The redemption of Cihan and Handan——— what in the world are they gonna do with the yellow centipede??? Yaren is nowhere near redemption status and I don’t think she ever will be!
Novelera, thank you for all the details of the continuing revenge tour.
Yes, Meran has finally become self aware enough to realize that his inner child Mini Me has been controlling Big Me with the Big Voice and Big Fists. Rey meanwhile just gave birth and is all tuckered out . She has to take care of the real baby Umet now , so Big Baby Me has to get a grip and ...yikes...grow up and be a big boy now.
Mahfoux , we love you , Big Guy . Please don't cbange. No really ,please. ... we need one mentally stable adult in this tale of ongoing revenge that never ever nunca jamais ends .
Excellent recap novelera! The way Telemundo cut up that flashback made the backstory confusing. I still don’t understand how Cihan made that all work out. Why is he the hero? I also think the actor voice over for Fusun does not do the character justice. In the Turkish version, Fu’s growl is much more convincing.
Instead of “Cihan is the Hero” maybe this episode should have been called the “Winds of Change” because that is the road we seem to be on. The question is who will be left in the dust? I agree with carmella, I don’t see any redemption with Yaren or even Azize. I hope we do see a real change in Miran.
Suddenly Zehra misses out on the kidnapping of Umut because her mother died? I don’t remember that storyline at all. I had to laugh when Mahfuz told Ayise that she has to protect Reyyan in her mother’s absence. She sure didn’t do a very good job when the kidnappers snatched Umut right in front of them.
Looks like another showdown with Fu is about to happen. I thought the Sadoglu family was loved in Midyat? Why is it so easy for Halit to round up a bunch of men to lay siege on the Sad and Hopeless konaks? Any hoo, I don’t think the writers care about any of my questions.
Thank you novelera!
Thanks very much, novelera, for this wonderfully succinct, well-written recap.
There were parts of the episode I liked more than usual. The scene between Miran and Cihan, where both of them want to hug, but they never quite manage to do so, was very well done. And I thought the actress who plays Reyyan made some skillfull changes in facial expression/attitude as she listened to Miran address Umut.
I too wondered when Mahfouz says that Zehra is away at her mother's funeral. I guess that was one of the many things Telemundo cut out. Actually, the longer this doleful dizi goes on, the more grateful I am for Telemundo's cuts.
Well, Me-ran/Moron seems not to have changed, in spite of his vows to do so. He comes into the room and finds Reyyan and the baby asleep in bed. Does he tiptoe away to let them get some much-needed rest? Of course not! Instead, he starts talking about all the bad things he has done and his constant need for forgiveness, ignoring the fact that he's doing it again, putting his need to talk above his wife and son's need to rest. BTW, I don't think Reyyan was awake for most of his blabbering. After a while, Umut opened his eyes (probably awakened by Miran), and right after that Reyyan did so too, but then very quickly both of them closed their eyes and probably went back to sleep.
I too found the scene with the milk rather confusing. I couldn't decide whether the milk Miran found in the fridge was breast milk or formula. The only thing that was clear is that Reyyan apparently wanted to use her own breast milk, but was having trouble producing enough. She blames Miran for this, but when he tells her not to be angry with him because it will affect her ability to produce milk, she tells him it doesn't work that way, even though she had seemed to be implying the same thing. Oh well.... And the feeding itself was amusing. Normally, a hungry baby very quickly starts sucking at a breast or bottle, but Umut seemed in no hurry to do so. And when he finally did, he sucked for at most 15 seconds. And yes, as the mother of a male child, I definitely related to Umut's peeing on Miran.
I'm not sure how Halit was supposed to be able to round up a huge number of Midyat men on a moment's notice to attack the Sadoglus. It's not clear they had any grudge against theSadoglus. Was Halit planning to bribe them? I doubt that the Old Gasbag had made (or even tried to make) any friends/allies in the relatively short time she's been in Midyat. Oh, silly me. I keep thinking that this absurd dizi should make sense. Like most of the characters, I guess I never learn.
Season 2 Episode 51 – Thursday – Part 1 of 5
***Sometimes I wonder what the fine residents of San Marcos are smoking – In fact, If I were to title this episode the Title would be ‘What are They Smoking?’ Just for fun let’s count all the ‘WATS’ (What are they or he/she Smoking) moments today
Rosi bursts in on Muriel and JD talking and says I heard what you said but I am sure Muriel told you we kissed and made up so you have no reason to doubt me (I can think of a few). She tells him he and Muriel have her full approval and she and Muriel need to be united to keep Muriel’s daddy from taking action against them. JD rather funnily asks Muriel why she allows this, even from her dad she knows that’s abuse, right? (Yep, JD she knows it’s the story of her whole life.) Rosi says Muriel and JD can come and go as they please and she will stay out of their relationship. To maintain unity with Muriel against Samuel she is willing to do anything, even give up what she once thought was an irreplaceable love (WATS#1) She will now see him as just the boyfriend of her only daughter….sigh. She leaves and Muriel and JD kiss and hug, at least they have each other.
Nino calls Gaby late at night and of course all she is thrilled to hear from him. Nino needs a place to stay – might as well be no questions asked, since he never answers her questions. He doesn’t want to bother her or her mom but he’s desperate. Will you tell Gonzo I am coming, please? Gaby says okay and calls Gonzo as soon as they hang up. Nino shows up and Gonzo is there to greet him. He wants to hide his bike in the shed, he can’t park in the parking lot because people are looking for him. Gonzo wants to ask a bunch of questions and he does ask one, but Nino doesn’t answer questions, he just says I’ll tell you later. Is Gonzo going to let him hide the bike? Yes, of course! I got you! (WATS#2)
Gaby and Nino are now in her room. Sara’s room is nearby but no worries she’s asleep. Nino doesn’t think it’s a good idea for them to be alone in her room someone might get the wrong idea (what century is this) Gaby tells him he can sleep in Andres’ room if he wants Muriel is no longer there. Nino is hesitant, he doesn’t know what to do…. okay….
Gonzo is outside tending to a horse in the middle of the night (because whatever he’s smoking keeps him awake?) when the police arrive. That’s right, it’s the good ol’ police looking for Nino. They ask Gonzo but he claims he hasn’t seen him. They ask if they can look into the parking lot and Gonzo tells them of course, absolutely, let me show you the way!
Gaby wants Nino to tell her WTH is going on but he claims it’s nothing. He was working late and he just needs a place to stay. Gabby says he should have called earlier, Sara adores him and she would have been happy to help him. Nino knows but it’s only for a couple hours, he has to leave before dawn he can’t leave the ‘kids’ alone. (I find it funny that he refers to his ‘sister’ as a kid, that girl can’t be much younger than him. It’s been so long since we’ve seen her, I can’t remember her name right now.) Gaby looks like she knows full well her friend/boyfriend is hiding something but she says nothing as usual.
JD is at home and he’s upset because he doesn’t like that Muriel is back with Rosi. Juan and Norma both tell him he’s going to have to accept it. He is Muriel’s boyfriend not her owner and he can’t force her to do what he wants. They suggest he calm down and have dinner with them but he’d rather be alone to stew. Juan and Norma feel bad for JD but that situation isn’t a real problem right now, unlike other issues in their family – like Oscar and Jimena and Berta and Gabriela.
Eric too has a real problem and he is sleeping and having nightmares about the night Pedro died. In his dream it looks like he shot, but we know he didn’t so it must be PTSD.
Thanks for all the excellent comments! I had book club last night at Tessie's house, 30 miles south in Bay Area traffic. I was determined not to do a "quicky". Somehow whatever I wanted to write only required two pages.
Carmella I thought the same thing. Having that flashback run into two episodes was pretty weird and, IIRC, it wasn't quite as grey as they usually are. Probably this was Telemundo's fault. I agree about the Fusun actor. Back when Azize was the devil incarnate her soliloquies were SO chilling and well acted. Fusun is just annoying every minute she's on screen. ITA about the yellow centipede.
Susanlynn You hit the nail on the head about Mahfuz. He's the "mentally stable adult" in this group. Even saintly Hazar would go off half-cocked on the regular.
VVS Yes, it's completely ridiculous that Halit could find that many men willing to attack such a well-known family as the Sadoglus. How much money is Fusun suppposed to have anyway?
Juanita This thing of a character talking out loud beside a sleeping person has been shown over and over and annoys me every time. I think Zehra may have even confessed hiding that letter while Hazar slept on. Regarding Umut's lackadaisical sucking, I suspect they may keep that baby VERY well fed to avoid his screaming while the camera rolls.
Season 2 Episode 51 – Thursday – Part 2 of 5
Speaking of knowing something is off but saying nothing, Gonzo is still awake and now helping Nino get his bike from the shed. It must be a couple hours later. Gonzo at least does tell Gaby about his doubts. He tells her he has a bad feeling and that the police were there looking for Nino. He thinks Nino is a good kid but you never know about his friends or what kind of problems he could be mixed up in! Gaby says she’ll find out but I doubt it. Gonzo goes to get some rest for whatever part of the night that’s left, and Gaby says goodbye to Nino. She predictably doesn’t even ask why the cops are looking for him, she gets herself I goodnight kiss instead! And she assures Nino she will always be here for him. (WATS#3)
Next Morning, Madrina meets up with Adela. Neither of them has heard from Pedro but Adela doesn’t suspect he’s hurt she thinks ambition got the best of him. He got all that money and decided to abandon her! Madrina doesn’t think he would do that but she doesn’t know. Adela tells Madrina she has to disappear too and please if anyone asks for her don’t say anything. She asks for money to travel and Madrina gives her some money and tells her to go in peace. Adela turns around and leaves and Madrina makes some sort of gesture to her back – I don’t know if it’s a blessing or a curse but I hope it’s a blessing because even if she was blackmailing the twins this girl could use some blessing after the hell she’s had to live through.
Norma goes to see Jimena and asks how things are between her and Oscar. SHE SUGGESTS SHE TRY TO RECONCILE WITH OSCAR!!!! (WATS #4 – As far as we’ve seen there’s been no discussion, no finding out exactly what happened, was Oscar cheating on Jimena briefly or cheating on her for years, Norma doesn’t know and she just suggests reconciliation????) Jimena fortunately isn’t willing to roll over that easily. Oscar has been lying to her for years and he exposed her to the crazy lady who nearly killed her! (She nearly killed your mom too, girl! And Berta) Norma continues to defend Oscar!!!! (Is it too soon for WATS#5?) Jimena is going to find out exactly what is going on and what has gone on before she will talk to Oscar, until then she is not going to see or talk to him.
We see Duvan in some sort of children’s home, the administrator says he’s been an angel and Oscar says as soon as he can legally prove he’s Duvan’s father he will get custody and give Duvan the life he deserves far away from that crazy lady he calls mom. Romina is still being detained, but she still has all the cards and she is very difficult. She tells him to have faith and he can count on her! Oscar thanks her and goes to see his son. Duvan doesn’t want to see dad because he promised to help him and he’s still stuck in this place. Oscar assures him it’s temporary, he’s going to get him out of here. Duvan knows his mom did bad things but he feels like he’s being punished too and he wants to see his mom. Oscar tells him he doesn’t have all the answers but he’ll figure it out. Romina is okay and he will see her again soon (WATS #6 – I would keep Duvan as far away from her as possible) Duvan next asks about Jimena. ‘How is my friend Jimena? Oscar doesn’t know what to say about that so he asks for a hug instead of answering.
Jimena and Norma go to see Berta. Good news she will be able to come home soon. They mention the accident and Berta tells them it wasn’t in accident. It’s hard for her to know what happened because her memories are all confused but there was a woman there that morning – locked in the closet. She attacked her and pushed her off the roof, it wasn’t an accident. The sisters look very concerned but not very surprised.
Season 2 Episode 51 – Thursday – Part 3 of 5
Jimena and Norma are talking as they leave the hospital, they believe Berta. They remember the conversation they had on that morning? Someone attacked, someone had keys to the house and don’t forget the doctor said Jimena was drugged too…. Could it all be the same person? Could it all be Romina’s doing?
Oscar is at the store and talking to Madrina. He is worried about Duvan and he wants her to help him get custody. Madrina agrees to help but she doesn’t know how. Oscar wants her as a go between, he doesn’t want to see or talk to Romina, he promises he will pay Madrina well.
How much is he paying you, is the first question Romina has, but Madrina claims he’s not. She just wants Romina to do the right thing for once. Plus having Oscar formally acknowledge Duvan would be good for Romina! But Romina says no way, he would just take custody from me! If he wants to give Duvan his last name great! He can divorce Jimena and marry me!!! (WATS!!!#7,8,9 and 10 because she’s got to be smoking more than one thing) Madrina asks her if she’s forgotten about her long list of crimes? But Romina is not concerned they have no proof. Madrina leaves in disgust and Romina is just as disgusted and tells the guards not to allow her to visit again.
Sara is visiting mom’s ranch and asks Dominga how she’s doing with Dimi. This is a good question because Dominga was very very uncomfortable last we saw her, and I am glad Sara cares enough to ask. Dominga says Dimi is unbearable or ‘Insoporable’ (‘Insoportable’ is probably a nod to a character in season 1 who walked around calling everyone ‘insoportable insoportable’ all of the time!) Dominga can’t stand Dimi and his arrogant attitude she hopes Gabs (Thank you Adriana) comes home soon because she wants things to go back to normal. Sara says it should be soon and she smiles and asks where Mr. Unbearable is now. Dimi is upstairs (in Gabs room?) repainting with his shirt off. Sara thinks it looks good and Dimi hopes Gabs likes it as well. Sara seems a little distracted by Dimi’s shirtlessness and he notices and offers to go put a shirt on. Sara says it’s not that, you are just covered in paint. He leaves anyway and Sara notices her great grandmother’s lamp is hanging precariously from the rafters so she climbs the ladder to try to get it, reaches out too far and falls hard to the floor the ladder falling on top of her.
Oscar gets an E for effort, I guess gingerly approaching Jimena trying to get her to have dinner with him. He claims it will give them a chance to talk about the upcoming fashion show but she says they can talk about work at work and basically ignores everything else he says. When he insists and insists she finally tells him that it’s not about forgiveness. She just can’t accept his behavior it’s probably best if she leaves. I was thinking she should kick has ass out instead and Oscar read my mind because he told her not to leave and she can kick him out if she wants. There’s a knock on the door and it’s Juan and the twins. Jimena says hello but then excuses herself. Juan quickly tells the boys to go and visit with their aunt and they go.
Sara wakes up on the ground but she can’t breathe. Dimi tries to help her and asks where it hurts, her chest is hurting and she is having trouble breathing. Dimi tells her he’s going to give her mouth to mouth!!! (EW!!! But the eyes wide open scared look on Sarita’s face as Dimi gets closer is HILARIOUS!!! Seriously the best moment of the whole night) Mercifully we get a commercial instead of actually having to watch that mess.
Season 2 Episode 51 – Thursday – Part 4 of 5
Juan and Oscar talk about Jimena and Oscar says she wants to ‘abandon’ him! Juan thinks Oscar needs to understand Jimena and give her time. Oscar doesn’t know that time will fix this. He acted like a child (Yep) like a miserable bastard (yep again) he broke her trust and it will be hard to come back from that (Darcy is shocked at hearing Oscar take responsibility!!! This might be a WATS moment just because he sounds like a rational human being and that’s not normal for him) Juan says he can’t give up. Juan tries to give Oscar encouragement but he says please don’t say anything else, I don’t want to feel any worse than I already do!
Sara rallies – probably afraid Dimi will kiss her again if she doesn’t. She is sitting up now, a little dizzy but okay. They sit side by side and even chat in a friendly manner but Sara resists all Dimi’s efforts to get too close, she can do it alone. Dominga arrives and Dimi is rude to her of course.
Muriel and JD are making out as usual and they are so thrilled to see each other. JD says the trip from the ranch to see her felt like it took forever. Muriel says she’s doing well, she’s been working with Andres on choreography again and it’s going great. She’s getting along with mom really well, JD wouldn’t believe her change in attitude! And in the WATS#11 moment of the night, Muriel cheerfully suggests they should all have dinner together!!! (WTH? You do not invite the abused to have dinner with the abuser!!!) JD understandably says um, no… he would not be comfortable with that. Muriel to her credit quickly apologizes and says of course, it was a bad idea. They will have to find other ways to see each other and they always have their secret spot when they need alone time. Notable is that there was some guy on the phone watching them the whole time. At first, I thought it was just an extra looking at them too often, but it was clear when the cut to the guy after the couple drove off that he was in deed watching them.
Oscar shows Juan the suit Jimena made for Duvan, tells him they were friends for awhile and he never knew. And Jimena befriended Duvan having no idea he was Oscar’s son. Juan asks how Oscar could have thought he could hide his son all these years and Oscar says he was afraid of hurting Jimena. Juan asks if Oscar fell in love with Romina, but he says absolutely not! Oscar says Romina was obsessed with him and he fell in her trap. Jimena was overseas, he felt lonely…. he only slept with her TWICE, he swears. But she got pregnant and Romina started with the threats and antics and Oscar put up with it for Duvan’s sake. He admits to his brother that in spite of everything he felt so excited when he found out he was going to have a child!
Speaking of children, Juan’s come back into the room and tell their dad that Aunt Jimena wants to go get some drinks, do you want to go? (this is the first good idea Jimena has had in weeks) Juan says he will go if Oscar is invited??? (WATS#12) and that’s a no go naturally. Oscar says just go, if she invited you go, but don’t leave her alone, okay? The twins tell their dad Jimena wants to talk to him and he agrees he is going to go say hello to his sister-in-law. This leaves Oscar alone with the twins, and just in case you were thinking Oscar might have actually grown up a little; he quickly proves that’s not true by treating his nephews like trash. Like a petulant five-year-old with his feelings hurt he refuses to talk to them because they hurt him by not trusting him!!! He advises them to leave him alone if they know what’s good for them, and I agree but not because of whatever vague threat Oscar intended, just because Oscar is a despicable person and they would be better off without him.
Darcy: Busted out laughing when you said "What are They Smoking ?" in reference to last night's episode.

Season 2 Episode 51 – Thursday – Part 5 of 5
Sara is still at Gabs house, she hurt her arm but Dominga has it wrapped up now. She calls herself a klutz but Dominga disagrees and says it was a bad fall. Sara gets up to leave but it’s clear she is still dizzy and as much as I HATE to agree with Dimi, she shouldn’t be driving. She insists she’s okay though and she can drive. She’s short with Dimi and the brief truce is clearly over. Dimi asks if she’s mad at him but no she’s mad at herself. He tries to at least walk her to her car but no, Domingo can do that. (You go Sara! Keep your distance from that creep! Clearly this one isn’t smoking anything)
All the men are back at the ranch so I guess no one went with poor Jimena to get some much-needed drinks! They are in the living room with Norma discussing the situation. Norma says she’s sorry for what Oscar is going through but Jimena’s reaction is understandable. Eric says he totally agrees, they were talking to their aunt about everything and they understand her. She’s suffered so much for the choices Oscar made and she doesn’t deserve it, it’s not fair. Juan is looking very uncomfortable, in the biggest most inexplicable WATS moment of the night, he defends his brother and actually says WE CAN’T EVEN SAY HE BETRAYED JIMENA!!!???? (WHAT???) Apparently in Juanland the fact that he didn’t actually have a relationship with Romina and only a couple nights of unimportant sex means there was no betrayal?? What about 8 years of lies and hiding a child?? (Note at this moment how both Eric and Leon look at their dad as if he’s lost his mind, it’s hilarious!) Norma looks understandably appalled as Juan explains that Oscar took responsibility for his son and he wasn’t in cahoots with Romina, he was a victim of Romina! So, for those of you keeping track at home it’s okay to have a couple of meaningless nights of sex with another woman, get her pregnant and keep the child a secret as long as you take responsibility and pay child support – all that equals no betrayal!!! Stay away from whatever this one is smoking! (He even looks crazy in this scene, gotta wonder if the actor had a hard time saying all this with a straight face. Once again the look on Eric’s face as Juan finishes his speech so funny! Leon was covering his mouth and I wonder if he was trying not to laugh)
Oscar gets an update from Madrina, she tried but Romina is crazy, crazy, crazy and she won’t give up until she’s dead (dead sounds good to me). No, she won’t go back. For one it’s hard to get in to see her and for another thing it won’t do any good. Oscar says he’ll let the lawyers handle it then and they will do everything they can to make sure she’s locked up for a long time. (This sounds good too)
Felix is alive, yall! He’s at his bar talking to the captain. Cap is telling Felix all about the Oscar/Romina incident and that Romina is a suspect in Gabriela’s shooting. They comment on how crazy Romina is and El Captain feels bad for Oscar being embarrassed by her revealing his secrets in front of his whole family (that makes one of us) but he admits he’ll probably have to let Romina go. Why? Because he has no proof. He same reason he can’t arrest the twins for killing dear ol’ dad, lack of proof!! Felix admits in the last couple of days he’s felt ‘her’ close, he can’t explain why – and we can probably safely assume he meant Adela but he didn’t name her. The captain reminds Felix they have an Ace up their sleeve in his case, Felix doesn’t know about that, every time they think they have hope it gets dashed. But the captain says don’t be pessimistic, with a little bit of luck HE will awake up! And then we will find out where Adela is and possibly what happened to your father. We cut to a hospital room and we finally find out why no one found or is talking about Pedro’s body, it’s cuz he’s not dead!!! He’s not looking good though, surrounded by tubes and machines.
Excellent and HILARIOUS recap Darcy! Lololololol!! What were the smoking indeed!! The ganja in the woods must’ve set its own self on fire and the smoke permeated the whole city of San Marcos! So many WTF moments, lol! Juan Sr has been my favorite character throughout, but last night not only was he smoking something, but he must’ve hit his head with a lovely bunch of coconuts! Oscar is a liar, a cheat, a sneak, a coward, and a poor ass excuse for a husband and father! Now he wants to cry!?!? And make excuses?!?! He’s on a permanent high and needs to get some mental health help ASAP! Both him and Romina! What in the world makes her crazy, nutty self think that because she had a child, she deserves to be Oscar’s wife and queen of the ranch?!?!? Like 1+1 ain’t adding up here you psycho!
And, although I like Norma much better now than I used too, what is she thinking ( or smoking, lol) suggesting that Jimena even think about forgiving Oscar right now?? I’d be giving him the stink eye myself, after what he’s done to my sister! For a very long time!
Muriel is usually a smart girl, but sharing dinner with Rosario wasn’t! Keep JD far away from that harpy! Rosario’s been on a crazy, obsessive high since she stepped foot in San Marcos, and I bet a relapse is a coming——-soon!
Gabs is on a natural high where Nino is concerned, and I just don’t get it, lol…..smh……
And EWWWWWW! Dimi hovering over Sarita! Yuck, phooey, major spit session!
Liking the twins more and more, so maybe I’ll start tuning in on a regular basis again, lol. Or maybe I’m smoking something too! Lol!
Thanks for the very, VERY entertaining recap!!
Steve, thank you! I am glad it made you laugh. I was watching the episode and all I could think was: These people have got to be high! So I mentioned it. hehe
Thank you Carmella, the great thing about recapping is that when it doesn't make sense you can still make fun of it!! Juan Sr has been my fav too (well him and Sarita, and maybe JD too although he's kind of fading into the background recently) but I don't know how to account for that nonsense he came up with...except for the smoking theory! That was a seriously messed up and problematic thing to say and if I was Norma I'd be very concerned that my husband had that particular outlook on fidelity and betrayal.
I have to say though prior to that WTH scene, I loved it how as soon as Juan and the twins showed up at Oscar and Jimena's and Jimena left the room, Juan immediately told the boys to go be with their aunt!!! That was such a thoughtful and heartwarming response, then he had to ruin all the warm fuzzies by trying to define betrayal. smh
As weird as it is, I sort of like that whole Muriel being less than bright when it comes to Rosi aspect, not for JD but for the character development of Muriel. Anyone who grew up with parents like hers would have a had time with setting healthy boundaries and I think they do a great job of demonstrating that with her. One minute she knows her mom is this horrible manipulator and then mommy is nice to her for 5 minutes and she's jumping up and down to have dinner, it's sad; but probably very authentic.
Dimi with Sarita was cringe inducing but Natasha Klauss was so funny in that scene. She cracked me up, she does fantastic with facial expression comedy.
(Adriana Noel here)
A new episode has already aired; but I couldn't pass up teh opportunity to comment on your hilarious recap, Darcy. You're going to get me in trouble, as I'm doing this at work :))
Some highlights:
The way I took Madrina's reaction behind Adela's back was "good riddance". All I can say to that is DITTO!
Sarita is so sound asleep that she doesn't realize Nino has been in and out of her house and the cops stopped by, too. By it's early enough at Juan's ranch, because they haven't had dinner yet. Ok....
I cracked up when you mentioned Dimi painting with his shirt off - loved Sarita's reaction who couldn't get away from him fast enough later on. She definitely hasn't smoken anything, unlike her daughter, Nino's Number 1 CHEERLEADER.
I noticed that JD is fading into the background, too. I mostly ffw him and Muriel, they don't do it for me... unless Rosario is in the scene, too, girl is a mess and I love her for that.
Carmella, I'm loving the twins these days, too. Can't believe this is the same pair who started this show. They cracked me up while Juan was talking, too.
Mario Cimarro actually said in an interview that his character will be doing some things that he doesn't approuve of, his whole speech about betrayal must be one of those things.
Excellent recap, Darcy!
Lol about WATS! I'm sorry I missed that episode. Might watch later just to see Sarita's expression, it must have been hilarious!
Juan acting like what Óscar did isn't that big of a deal sounds odd to me. I didn't expect that from him. Like you, Darcy, if I were Norma, I'd be concerned. Loved the theories that he must have smoken something and that a pile of coconuts hit his head! I almost burst out laughing when I read them!
Speaking of odd behaviours, what the heck was Norma thinking telling Jimena to reconcile with Óscar? She must have smoken something too!
Can't wait for Friday's recap later today and me recapping on Monday and Tuesday!
Season 2 Episode 52 – Friday – Part 1 of 6
Jimena is alone in her room and she gets a phone call, from Javier Angel, (Javier is the same guy Oscar was jealous of in episode 1) and he’s in San Marcos! She welcomes him to the craziest town on earth and tells him she hasn’t been feeling well lately because of problems with Oscar. She will fill him in on everything later.
Oscar is alone in the guest room and we don’t feel bad for him at all. He is remembering Duvan say he was upset because dad said he’d help him but he didn’t and now he feels alone in a place where he knows no one. It looks like Oscar may be crying but again, we don’t care.
Rosi is driving up to Bar Alcala and it appears someone is following her, but then he could just be going to the same place. Rosi thinks he’s following her too and rushes over to the car to give him the what for. The guy plays dumb and Gunter comes out to see what’s going on. (you do have to wonder why Samuel would need to send some guy to follow Rosi when he already has a live-in spy…) Gunter tells Rosi she’s paranoid and needs to pull herself together as he pulls her away from the poor guy, he gets her to go inside by suggesting she can go in and see someone who’s here asking for Muriel. Rosi bolts and after she walks into the building, Gunter looks off to the side and gives the guy a dirty look and mouths something so I guess it’s not paranoia if the guy is in fact following you.
Rosi walks in and sees JD waiting at the bar and that’s not how I would look at someone I only saw as my only daughter’s boyfriend, but to each their own. JD asks her if she’s okay, she looks like she saw a ghost. Rosi tries to recover and says he looks very nice and she’s never seen him dressed up. JD says thank you and sometimes I have to dress up for conferences at school. I hadn’t even noticed he was dressed up but the lighting in the bar is full of shadows. JD wants to take Muriel to lunch. Rosi isn’t sure if Muriel is there or not but at that very moment she walks in with Andres and happily greets her boyfriend with kisses. Rosi looks like she wants to throw something and Andres looks very uncomfortable; JD and Muriel look like they are unaware that anyone else in the world exists. Andres excuses himself very quickly after greeting his cousin and JD wants to leave too and go out to lunch. Rosi doesn’t think that’s a good idea because of Samuel’s people hanging around, they should eat here. She promises they can eat alone but she’s a little too nice about promising to have the cook make something very delicious just for JD since she’s so happy to have him in her home.
Jimena is having lunch too with Javier and they exchange pleasantries. It’s immediately clear these two must be very close friends because Jimena has told him everything. Javier is a very good looking man, a model I think, but he looks closer to JD’s age than Jimena’s. Jimena makes it clear how much it hurts that Oscar has a son with another woman after not being able to have one with her. They even considered adoption. Javi says she must really hate that woman and asks if she’s met her (so I guess Jimena hasn’t told ALL) and Jimena says yes, and she terrifies her. Also, she met the boy before she knew he was Oscar’s son and she always felt like she wished he was hers. Jimena starts crying, again. Javi tells Jimena exactly what we have all been saying for weeks! Stop crying, this isn’t you. You are a badass take charge woman who doesn’t let anything scare her!!! (You tell her Javier!!) Jimena agrees he’s right and switches the topic to work, is Javier going to help them with their problem. (They are down two models for the fashion show, this was among all the BS Oscar was telling Jimena yesterday when he was begging her to talk to him) Javi says after the last tour he swore he wouldn’t get on a run away for months, but for Jimena he will. He would do anything that was in his power to do for her! Jimena thanks him.
Season 2 Episode 52 – Friday – Part 2 of 6
JD is looking very uncomfortable as Blanca serves him wine in Rosi’s dinning room and I don’t blame him, but he is alone with Muriel as Rosi promised. They discussed whether or not daddy is actually spying on Muriel and Muriel says yes, probably; as if that’s the most natural thing in the world. JD doesn’t know why Muriel puts up with it but she says he’s more watching mom than her anyway. JD thinks he’s using his daughter as a pawn (no kidding) but Muriel doesn’t see it that way. Dad will always respect her decisions as long as she doesn’t do anything wrong. JD says daddy is weird and Muriel agrees, but if JD ever meets him, he’ll realize he has nothing to worry about. JD wishes Muriel would tell him everything so he’ll know what to expect.
Oscar is having a meeting with his staff and they don’t know where Jimena is. He’s called but she’s not answering. They are discussing which model to replace the missing female model with and they found one who is perfect but Oscar doesn’t want to give final approval without Jimena’s input. They start discussing who will be the male model replacement right as Jimena walk in, with Javier Angel!! The walking-talking answer to the question at hand. Oscar is unhappy again and Javi enjoys telling Oscar he is just soo happy to see him again!! LOL
Still at the fashion center we are practice for the runway show and an employee directs the models as they strut down the path in the courtyard giving them tips and feedback. Jimena is sitting in front of Oscar with her back firmly to him. When Javi is up, he gives Jimena not one but two little special looks to which she just smiles. (I immediately love this Javi guy!! I don’t care, Oscar deserves it and I feel like Javi is purposely torturing him and I approve!!)
Back in the office Oscar tries again to talk to Jimena and she’s cold and standoffish. He wants to finish their talk tonight. He’s worried about what she said yesterday (about leaving him) and he wants to clear things up. Jimena informs him she can’t tonight she’s going out to dinner. Oh, with all the employees? Oscar asks with false hope. (LOL) Nope, just Javier! Oscar says okay because really, what else can he say?
I guess Sara didn’t want to be the only one not smoking, because tonight she’s having dinner with Dimi!!! And she asks GABY TO JOIN THEM!!! (NO!! You do not ask your daughter to have dinner with her stalker!!! Just don’t do it! Smh) Gaby of course says no, no way, no how, not going to happen. But she tries to hide all her disgust and make it a polite(ish) refusal. Sara inexplicably tries to convince her daughter to change her mind but Gaby doesn’t, she does stand by the table though. WTF, why is Sara having dinner with Dimi after running away from him yesterday??? Oh, that’s right, to thank him for saving Gabs life! (Hard pass) Dimi wishes he could be there every day, not only to have dinner but also to protect them because San Marcos is infested with crime. Sara agrees and what happened at the Mendoza hacienda was terrifying (not sure if I’m forgetting something or if we just haven’t been told what happened to the Mendoza’s?) Dimi says ‘criminals are on the prowl and we have to be alert’ and Darcy laughs at the irony. I guess we haven’t yet heard about what happened to the Mendoza’s because Dimi adds some details about it involving thugs on motorcycles!!! (Maybe Nino was at the Mendoza’s?)
Javi and Jimena are having dinner and he’s happy to be with her because he always feels so good in her company, she’s a little quiet tonight though. Jimena admits she feels awful and Javi says that’s understandable with what she is going through. Javi always feels the same when he argues with HIS wife!!! He hopes Oscar and Jimena can work it out though because in spite of everything they have always been such a loving couple.
Season 2 Episode 52 – Friday – Part 3 of 6
Oscar is still alone in the guestroom as he deserves, the maid offers him dinner and he yells childishly that he doesn’t want anything and to leave him alone!! (Dude seriously reminds me of this phase that my nephew went through when he was like 2. He loved telling people to leave him alone! He thought it was so funny!! And it was, because you weren’t necessarily paying attention to him to begin with so he had to get your attention in order to tell you to leave him alone! LOL) Oscar should have told his cook he didn’t want dinner BEFORE she made it. Geez
Javi has been married for 4 years and even with the trips and the distance their marriage is going well, nothing has changed. They are in love! Jimena knows her and she agrees Christina is divine! But Javi admits not as divine as Jimena, and Oscar might be a little bit right about Javi because even though he says he’s in love with his wife it’s clear he very much means it when he says Oscar is very fortunate to have Jimena. Jimena looks just a little uncomfortable but Javi seems sincere when he says he really hopes she and Oscar can work things out. Jimena says she’s never imagined a life without Oscar but she doesn’t know how they can fix this. She thinks that a separation is inevitable but she doesn’t feel capable of taking the first step, she’s waiting for Oscar to do it.
***Speaking of life without a Reyes, we interrupt our regularly scheduled recap to say: FRANCO COME BACK!!! Come back to us PLEASE!!! We know San Marcos is weird and full of crime and the people are scary, or crazy, or high or whatever, but we miss you and our lives are incomplete without you!!!
Speaking of Franco, his (ex)wife is outside saying goodnight to Dimi. Dimi asks Sara to think about what he’s said. He knows she has a bunch of cowboys to protect her but he wants her to know he’s there too. Call him anytime day or night, 24/7 and he will be there to take care of her. Sara basically says thanks but no thanks so Dimi offers to remodel her house the way he remodeled Gabs house!! (I seriously laughed hysterically at this suggestion – talk about trying everything!) Sara doesn’t accept that either and Gaby looks anxiously on as Dimi finally says his final goodnight and leaves. (Sara looks very uncomfortable but I can’t tell if it’s the right kind of ‘get that slime away from me’ uncomfortable she should be feeling or if she’s uncomfortable because she’s actually starting to feel some interest in Dimi. I hope it’s the first.)
The next day Oscar is venting his jealousy of Javier to Juan. We learn Javier and Jimena have known each other about 8 years. He sort of mocks Jimena’s claim that she and Javi are only coworkers by saying they’ve only done two or three commercials together but then he admits they also did a bunch of runway shows together too. Oscar says Jimena always swears they are just the closest of friends but once they even shared a room together while on tour. Oscar suspects something is going on or went on. Juan says if Jimena says they are just friends, they are just friends and stupid Oscar actually thinks Jimena should come home and attend to him instead of going out to eat since they are fighting!!! (This is the most childish adult character I have seen in a very long time he seriously sounds like a toddler in every scene) Juan tells Oscar he needs to recover his self-esteem; it’s obvious Jimena is trying to make him jealous and get revenge; Oscar needs to resolve the issue with Romina and then he can fix his marriage. Quintina interrupts right then to tell them breakfast is ready.
Season 2 Episode 52 – Friday – Part 4 of 6
Matis (I couldn’t remember is name yesterday but he’s the captain) is with his men apprehending some man, who is yelling he didn’t shoot anyone. Dude looks a little drunk. Felix walks up and Matis asks him if he recognizes the guy, the answer is no. (I thought they were just on the street but then I realized they are in the cemetery near the place where Pedro was shot) The man has been seen several times walking around there with a gun and Felix asks if they think he was the guy to shoot Pedro. Matis pulls him aside and says don’t mention names. Felix says he is just anxious to know what happened to his sister and Matis understands but they need to be careful.
At the breakfast table, Juan is telling Oscar the rifle is very important to Romina’s case and if he knows where it is he needs to tell the police. (Oscar is a low life but not even I think he would hide that evidence) Oscar says he told the lawyer everything he knows. The twins and Norma arrive for breakfast and the baby Oscar greets Norma only! Never underestimate this dude’s capacity to be rude as he openly disrespects not only the twins but Norma, Juan and their home too by declaring he won’t say to have breakfast because he never wants to see of hear from the twins again!!! AND he actually told Eric to show some respect (!!!) during this exchange just because he tried to approach his uncle offering an olive branch!!! Unbelievable. Juan wants to know what’s going on and Norma looks confused. Leon looks stunned and Eric defiant. Oscar says it’s better if the twins tell Juan and storms out apologizing to Juan and Norma only. Norma is aghast and the twins quickly follow their uncle saying they will resolve this (I would def let him go) and Juan agrees and tells them not to make it worse.
The twins catch up to Oscar and ask him what his problem is, is he really this mad just because they didn’t accept his help? Oscar acknowledges that and spits out some more childish BS about if you don’t need me then we’re done for good! He climbs up on his horse and the twins seem to finally be ready to let him just go but Oscar wants to tell them just one thing before he goes. ‘I shot him’ he declares, ‘It was me who shot the extortionist that night at the cemetery!!!’ Caras de impactada!!
Matis and Felix are still talking and Matis says they don’t know if Pedro was just involved in some unrelated crime or if his shooting has to do with the case of Felix’s dad. Felix says what he does know is that Pedro was Adela’s boyfriend. They kept the relationship hidden from his dad but they were together and Pedro had been to the house a few times doing repair work. He always rode a motorcycle and Matis says it was thanks to that bike that they found him alive! Felix says he couldn’t care less about that, all he wants to know is where his sister is. After that the guy can die for all he cares. Matis thinks Pedro is their best bet for finding Adela and finding out what happened, they need him alive.
Apparently, the fit throwing is over as Oscar is back to walking calmly along with the twins and chatting conspiringly. He tells them he found out by coincidence what they were doing and gives them all the details about visiting Madrina and overhearing Adela’s name. He tells his nephews that they are alive because of him and if they hadn’t thrown him aside, they’d be dead by now (oh please!!!) They beg for forgiveness – I would beg him to leave. Oscar actually responds (with a straight face) that what’s important is they are in this together and they will be together to the end! He loves them very much!! Eric is actually crying and I would be too, but not because I find any of this nonsense touching. Big group hug!
Season 2 Episode 52 – Friday – Part 5 of 6
Juan and JD are looking for the twins and Oscar and they stop to ask Adan if he knows where they are. Yep, in the stables all huddled up. JD and Juan head there commenting on how they hope they aren’t fighting and that the twins were able to calm Oscar down. They meet up and everything is fine now, they are going to Uncle Oscar’s house! Juan says go ahead and as they leave JD says looks like they kissed and made up and Juan says he honestly prefers it this way. (I cannot imagine why)
Oscar is now not alone in the guest room, because he has his buddies back. They comment on the room and Eric says he’s sure Oscar and Jimena will reconcile because Aunt Jimena can’t live without him. Oscar doesn’t want to talk about that. Let’s focus on the matter at hand. Oscar asks if they know anything about the guy or what happened after but they don’t. They have been monitoring the news but they’ve heard nothing. Oscar somehow knows Pedro’s full name (Maybe Madrina told him?) and he’s found out where Pedro and Adela were living and they decide to go there but Adela is long gone as we know and they quickly find out. The owner tells them Pedro abandoned Adela first then she didn’t have the money for the rent. They took what little money she did have though, of course, before she left and then she was gone. His daughter arrives and we learn that Leon is the third person to ask for Adela and Pedro. First an old lady, then a cop, and now Leon. Oscar concludes if the police came, they must have found the body. Eric wonders why there’s been nothing in the news if that’s true. Oscar doesn’t know and Leon suggests asking the groundskeeper at the cemetery but Oscar thinks that would be stupid (and I hate to admit it but I agree).
Muriel is practicing her dance with the girls and JD is watching. She moves extra seductively to play with him as she makes her way over to him. She grabs him and kisses him passionately, stealing his hat before going back to the dance. Did I mention Rosi and Pancha are watching this show too? Rosi can’t believe it! He finds any excuse to come see her!! (She’s got to be remembering how he NEVER came to visit her) He can’t live without her! She storms off.
Season 2 Episode 52 – Friday – Part 6 of 6
Oscar is back at the fashion center and at first is petulant about how his presence isn’t needed and his opinion doesn’t matter but when his employee asks if he’s being that way because he doesn’t like the new model, Oscar realizes how he looks and tries to change the narrative. He claims he was the one to hire Javier and he has nothing against him, he’s going to be a fabulous addition to their show!
Oscar goes out to the courthouse and is looking at a picture of Duvan, Javi approaches and asks to see. He says he’s a beautiful boy and asks if it’s Oscar’s son. He says yes, and Javi says he must be very proud of him. Oscar imagines Jimena must have told Javi everything but he says only some things, no details. You know how discreet Jimena is. Oscar asks if they are going out tonight and Javi says he doesn’t know but if Jimena asks him to, he will. He doesn’t know the area and doesn’t have any other friends here. Oscar points out lots of women would love to go out with Javi – for example the designer who can’t keep her eyes off him. We see said designer is indeed staring their way. Javi says Jimena’s company is sufficient, why would he want anything else? Jimena is charming, divine, and an excellent friend; it’s a shame she has so many personal problems he hopes she overcomes them real soon. Oscar calls him a hypocrite and says he knows he’s crazy about Jimena. Javi says, ‘do you really think so?’ Oscar says he sees how he looks at her and he warns him to watch out!
**** I had to stop and take a very big breath before recapping this next scene! The moment I’ve been dreading since the first time Adan looked too closely at Norma has arrived and I don’t think I can recap this in much detail, I am too horrified!
Norma is alone in the study working when Adan shows up unannounced, he gazes inappropriately at her before saying, my beautiful boss I need to talk to you. Norma says her patience is wearing thin (it should have worn out long ago!!) and what does Adan want? He offers to help with the issue at the millhouse, he will testify. Norma says they don’t need his testimony and if they do, she will let him know when the time comes. She asks him to leave but he doesn’t this time, this time he insists. Norma tries again to order him out but it’s too late. Adan closes the door and starts unbuttoning his shirt. He knows he’s getting fired but first he’s going to show her how much he likes her and what a real man can do… Norma tries to fight but it doesn’t look good.
And on that horrifying note the episode ends.
Loved the amazing recap, Darcy!
I especially liked: "Sarita didn't want to be the only one not smoking something" and "Dude seriously reminds me of this phase that my nephew went through when he was like 2." LOL!
Why did the episode had to end this way? I'm honestly terrified, what will I have to deal with on Monday (well, actually, Tuesday, since of the completely different time zones). I'm ready for everything!
Sorry I've been so busy with work I fell behind in watching and commenting. Sincere thanks to VVS for stepping in on Wednesday and to novelera for the Thursday edition. You helped keep me on track.
The Friday recap will be up soon.
Dressed and ready for the day, Miran watches Reyyan and Umut as they sleep in bed. He picks up Umut and starts talking to him. Umut’s sounds wake Rey and she hears Miran tell Umut they named the konak after him. You are our treasure, Umut, Miran says. When the baby reaches out and touches his face, Miran tells him you will have a beard someday, too. Rey quietly listens as he continues, there are lots of places to play here. When you are older, we’ll do many things together, my son… Umut Hazar. [I’ll admit Miran is sweet here and so is the way little Umut looks at his “dad”.]
This makes Reyyan smile. Miran looks over and sees Rey is awake. We have a small surprise for you, he tells her. I hope you won’t turn us down. Rey takes Umut and says nothing. Will you see it, he asks? They head to the terrace and there’s the restored swing. I know I can’t fix everything this easily, Miran says, but like always, I want you to give me another chance. Your heart is my only refuge.
You only make promises, Rey and viewerville reply. Miran knows this and adds, this time I’d like to follow through with them. I regret what I have done. This is difficult for me but I’m willing to do anything. Rey has made herself a promise. I won’t raise Umut under the shadow of a gun. I thought you wanted the same, she tells Miran.
Of course I do, Miran answers. I know you do, Rey responds, but you can’t keep your word, Miran. [it only took her 67 out of 69 episodes to figure this out.] I gave birth to a new life, God entrusted him to me. But I can’t trust you, she tells Miran. She starts to leave saying she has to feed Umut soon. Miran says he’s taking Hercan to the police so he can testify. This ends today, he tells her, then we will talk calmly. Rey doesn’t answer. She has a troubled look and leaves. After she goes, Miran sighs and says, you’ll trust me again. I will devote my life to it if necessary. I swear you will trust me again.
Miran meets Nasuh on the patio. Nasuh tells him Hercan left and Cihan is missing, too. I’m afraid something bad will happen, Grandpa says. Miran assures him nothing bad will happen because he’s spoken with Cihan, but this doesn’t do the trick. Cihan regrets many of the things he’s done, Nasuh worries, but when he makes up his mind, he never gives up. Something bad will happen.
Mahfuz rushes into the konak with the news that Fusun has gathered an army. Nasuh thinks she is going after Azra. Miran asks Asiye if Azra is in her room. Nope. Azra didn’t return home. Miran tries calling Azize. No answer. Miran is upset with himself for not checking on this earlier.
Miran asks Nasuh if it’s possible that Azize and Cihan are going after Fusun. Nasuh thinks that’s impossible. They swore to kill each other. Miran replies, the impossible becomes possible here. [a cardinal rule in dizis and telenovelas] Mahfuz says he will try to find out what Fusun is up to.
Hercan enters the konak. He tells the men that Cihan forgave him and told him to leave but he came back. I couldn’t walk away, he says, I owe you. There’s something you should know.
Yaren sits out on the terrace and tells Seyda to bring her tea. He’s afraid of going against Fusun’s “no tea” orders. Firat and Zeynep come out and Yaren asks him if he wants tea. She does not make the offer to Zeynep. He turns her down, saying they already had breakfast. Yaren asks where he’s going. Firat curtly asks, what is it, Yaren? Do you need something? No, she answers, well… I’m always alone and I’d like to talk to someone.
Zeynep excuses herself and goes to wait downstairs. Smug smile from Yaren. Firat reminds Yaren that her family is going through a lot and tells her to stop being selfish. She claims she’s bored and tries again to get him to sit and talk. In the Turkish she says they used to share their troubles with each other. Enough, Firat firmly tells her and moves in close for effect. I know exactly what you’re trying to do. You’re pregnant. Act accordingly and don’t bother me. You’re carrying my cousin’s child. What a stern look he gives her.
Firat is interrupted by Miran calling and asking him to come over. He takes off. Yaren snarks out loud, of course because I’m thrilled to be carrying Harun’s baby. But I understood you. I understood loud and clear.. the baby is your only problem. Seyda looks shocked at this. Yaren barks at him for the tea. She promises she won’t tell on him. He scampers away.
Rey loves on baby Umut. She thinks back to overhearing Miran with Umut in the kitchen. She tells Umut she wishes she could trust his father.
Hercan has told what he knows. Nasuh asks if that’s everything and is he sure about it. Hercan confirms Azize and Cihan swore revenge. They are going to use Azra to lure Fusun and… Nasuh is worried Azize and Cihan are falling into a trap. Miran says not to worry, they will handle it. Nasuh is scared, one is my son and the other my beloved!
Miran turns to Hercan. He asks him to tell everything he knows about the night Hazar was murdered and sends him off, I’m guessing to the police.
Mahfuz returns with news that Fusun is hiding somewhere near Batman. Reyyan heads downstairs and stops to listen. Mahfuz continues, I found her last whereabouts, but she’s long gone by now. She’s always a step ahead. Not good. Miran says no one will get hurt. Fusun is going all in, and we will, too. But she doesn’t know that. Rey calls out to Miran.
Azra waits on the street and a car stops. A man gets out and tells her, your mother is waiting for you. Azra gets in. We see Mahmut lurking nearby in his car. He lets Azize know Azra’s been picked up and he will follow. Azize asks him to keep her informed.
Rey is not happy about what she just overheard. Promise you haven’t lied to me, she asks Miran. I haven’t, he replies. What’s going on then, she asks, did you speak to Fusun? You said she’s going all in. Did you talk dad and grandpa into joining you? Mahfuz steps in, it’s not what you think. Nasuh adds that Miran hasn’t done anything wrong. Listen to him and then you will understand.
Miran asks for a minute alone with Rey. He tells her he is trying to keep his promise. I will make the guilty pay, so our family can have peace. Rey is ill at ease. She asks if he is going to start a new fight. Will you go to the police? Miran tells her he didn’t start this. He explains that Azize and Cihan are using Azra to get to Fusun. Fusun is getting ready to attack. What should I do, he asks, let them die? Should I abandon them?
I don’t know what to say or think, Rey responds. I can’t understand any of this. Don’t you believe me, he asks Rey? I promise today will be the last time you feel scared. I’ll handle this and I won’t let anyone die. [we still have a week to go…] Rey asks him to leave his gun at the konak. He doesn’t want to. To his benefit, Firat and Zeynep arrive to interrupt.
Miran entrusts his wife, son and konak to Firat. Mahfuz calls out to Miran, we found her! Let’s go! Rey is still uneasy. Miran tells her he needs to go. Remember what we talked about, he says. Firat will stay here. Today will be the last day you feel scared. How can I not, she replies.
Fusun and crew are waiting by the side of the road in the middle of nowhere. Azra’s car pulls up and she gets out. Fusun welcomes her. Azra says she’s not here because she wants to be. Not important to Fusun. The camera pans over the side of the embankment and we see Cihan, Azize waiting and Mahmut running over to join them. One of Fusun’s goons grabs Azra and locks her in Fusun’s car.
Azize thinks out loud, this is the day God will determine which one of us will die. Cihan cautions, we don’t have many men so we have to be careful. He gives the order to move in.
Fusun Aslanbey! Cihan shouts, freeze! Drop your weapons! Guns are drawn. A large group of men dressed in “civilian” clothes come running out of nowhere to join up with Fusun’s crew. Fusun smirks, you keep aiming your guns at me and yet I’m still alive. Not for long, Cihan replies, you will pay this time, Fusun. So the enemies have joined forces, Fusun sneers, you realize that you are not worth much by yourselves. I’ve sent men to attack Yaren. Cihan looks a bit worried but does not lower his gun.
Azize calls out, will you continue to act like a coward? You think you are brave standing behind your men? Fusun laughs, do you think your enemy will be honorable? Cihan moves forward, stop talking and come here. And a physical struggle ensues. I don’t hear any gunshots.
The scene quickly cuts to an anxious Reyyan who is sitting with Zeynep and Asiye. Zeynep tells Rey she knows nothing about the plans. Asiye tells Rey not to worry, Mahfuz won’t let anything bad happen. Inshallah. Ojala.
Firat is out on the patio getting an update from Miran. Zeynep tells him Rey is very worried. She asks her husband, what’s going on. He tells her he will explain but not now and says nothing bad is going to happen. Zeynep senses that Firat might not be as confident as he sounds. He can’t look at her. They don’t notice Rey has come out. Zeynep asks, Miran is going to take on Fusun, right? Firat nods yes, on the road to Diyarbakir.
Cut to Miran on his way. A car cuts him off. Three men get out and draw their guns. One shouts, Fusun Hanim sends her greetings, Miran Bey! [Fusun Hanım’ın selamı var] Miran answers, “aleyküm selam!” “peace be upon you”
Back to the struggle on the roadside. And Fusun’s goons get the best of our guys. Two men hold Cihan as he shouts to let go. One has his gun point blank on Azize and Mahmut is motionless on the ground. The old gasbag is grins, as you can see, Fusun Aslanbey is immortal. Cihan shouts he’s going to kill her.
Fusun tells him to shut up and to stop him, she says he will die first. She tells Azize she didn’t want her to die so easily. I wanted you to mourn for all your loved ones first. Cut to Mahmut on the ground. [oh, no, does this mean he’s dead?] Fusun continues, but my time is up and there’s nothing left to do.
Azize shouts back, I don’t fear death! Death is an old friend. My revenge is my legacy. If I don’t kill you, someone will hunt you down. Someone from my family or from yours. Maybe you’ll drown in your own poison or God will do his justice. How doesn’t matter, you will die. Sooner or later you will pay for your mistakes.
[Turkish] Fusun laughs, this all sounds like a “türkü” (folk song). Remember how your friend made you suffer while your son died? Do you remember how you screamed when your son was dying in your arms? Allah, take my life!” Well, Allah heard your prayers. You will both die without getting your revenge. Hazar… Cihan shouts to interrupt, don’t say his name! Fusun continues unfazed, you will die by the same hand that took his life.
Fusun orders Halit to shoot Cihan and Azize in the head. She changes her mind about Azize. She wants something more interesting for her. Fire! Since you have always liked to play with fire, right, Azize? She looks at Halit. Turn her into ashes. Fusun says she will wait in Midyat and heads to her car.
Fusun gets in the car and Azra calls her a sadist. Smug Fusun answers, I am, but are they angels? Azra says, alright, I’ve agreed to leave with you. Don’t hurt them, let them go! MYOB, Fusun replies, you’re safe with your mother. Enjoy that. You don’t know how much I hate you, Azra hisses. Fusun is not bothered. We will live a long life together, Gunes, and God willing, you will call me “mother” someday. They drive off.
Meanwhile, Reyyan is in a taxi. Firat calls her in a panic. Where are you?! I’m keeping them from doing something crazy, she replies. He orders her to come home or he will come after her. All she wants him to do is keep an eye on Umut. She hangs up. She says, I won’t let this happen, Miran. I will stop you. I won’t let you leave us.
Azra tells Fusun she will run away the first chance she gets. She will even kill herself just so Fusun won’t get her way. I can’t believe that, and neither can Fusun. Don’t try me, she warns Azra, we will start a new life far away from here, so you better get used to it.
We see a car blocking the road and Halit tells Fusun that Miran avoided their men. Miran’s in the road with his gun drawn. Fusun thinks no worries, they will take care of it now. You always score a goal in the last minute, she tells Halit. She asks him if they are safe. They are right behind us, he replies. [Not sure who he refers to.]
The car stops and Azra immediately runs to Miran. Miran tells her to get in his car. Fusun calls her back. Miran tells Azra to do as he says, and she heads to his car. Fusun draws her gun and tells Miran he won’t leave alive if he kills her. Step aside and I’ll get my daughter.
Miran has a question for Fusun, my father was innocent, why did you kill him? You want me to be frank, Fusun asks? If you can stand it, we’ll talk. I didn’t kill your father, I killed your grandmother. I settled my score with her. Miran ticks off Fusun’s sins: you poisoned my wife, killed one of my children, kidnapped my baby. Was that part of the score, too? You’ve judged the guilty incorrectly, Fusun replies. Azize is responsible for it all! You are, Miran fires back, did you think you could get to walk away?! You can’t, Fusun Aslanbey!
Reyyan’s taxi arrives in the middle of this confrontation. Miran! She runs and stands between the combatants. No! You promised. I won’t let you die. Stop this and let’s go home. I’m keeping my promise, he tells her, come to me. No! if you shoot, the first shot will go through me, she says. Do it if you dare!
Fusun thinks she has the upper hand. Your wife is your Achilles heel, she says. You believe in happy endings because of Reyyan. But I have always won, and I will win again while you talk. Rey gives Miran a look. He falters. Damn you, he shouts at Fusun, fine, you win again! And he throws his gun into the field. Rey looks surprised.
A group of policemen [yes, policemen!] come out of nowhere. Fusun Aslanbey, lower your weapon! You’re under arrest for the murder of Hazar Sadoglu. She’s cuffed. As she’s taken away she shouts at ReyMir, I sent an army to your mansion. Nothing will remain! Azize and Cihan will die! I will show no mercy! Even if I spend the rest of my life in prison!
Rey is alarmed for Umut. Miran assures her that Umut is safe and sound at home. We planned all this to get her (Fusun) to confess. There was no bloodshed. I kept my promise. She hugs him.
We see the police pull up to the place where Fusun’s men were holding Cihan and Azize. They round up the bad guys. Mahfuz and Nasuh show up. There are hugs and smiles.
There’s a voice over from Miran: Revenge covers the railway. The devil adds the coals and the fire is kindled so the train can go faster. It doesn’t matter who or what the train hurts in its path. Sometimes the innocent die. Sometimes the lives of the sinless are in danger. This war had to end. I started this fake war to end the real one. I risked it all. But no blood was shed in my war and I won in the end.
We see ReyMir driving. Miran’s voice over continues: love means going on a journey together and sharing some problems and joys along the way. Life goes on along this long, narrow road. And now we embark on a new journey.
Back to the terrace swing. ReyMir and Umut sit and cuddle. Miran starts again: Many of our dreams ended in nightmares. Whenever the sun appeared, a question stuck in our souls like a knife, when would the next storm appear? But from now on, no more black clouds. There are no more nightmares, no more wars. On the contrary, we have happiness, light, hope, love and a large family ahead of us. This was the end of Turkish ep 67.
Reyyan wakes up alone in bed. Umut is not in his crib. She finds a note: good morning, world’s most beautiful mother. You can find us if you follow Umut’s scent. Miran and Umut are with Asiye and Lutfu in the kitchen. Miran is planning a picnic. He plays some Mozart for Umut, “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik”. Asiye is rude to Lutfu and tells him to shut up when he stutters. [I don’t like this, but Miran seems to think it’s funny.]
Rey is surprised about the picnic. She wonders why she wasn’t consulted. Miran wanted to make it a surprise. The classical music comes up. Miran heard it was good for babies and considering their genes… Rey smiles, we grew up on the classics. And are we calm? [for the moment] He tells her to hurry and get ready. She slept late and says she had a nightmare. [we didn’t see it and I wonder what it was]
Nasuh and Cihan come over as Miran is taking Umut to the car. They are returning from the police station. Cihan gave his statement to the DA. The lawyer said Fusun would be arrested and taken to prison. Azize went as well and left after giving her statement.
Nasuh notes that Azize has been acting strangely. He’s still scared she’s not giving up her revenge. Miran says as long as Fusun is here, they won’t have any peace. I don’t want to breathe the same air as my father’s killer. He plans to speak to the lawyers and get Fusun transferred to another city. [hurry up] Rey appears and Cihan comments she doesn’t look well. She says she’s just tired [does this mean something?]
Handan races over to Cihan and Nasuh when they enter the konak. She is concerned about what’s happening with Fusun. She tells Cihan they should bring Yaren back home. Nasuh says that’s a good idea but he warns Cihan to stay calm and be careful. If Miran hadn’t shown up when he did…. Cihan says not to worry, he will leave it to the police and to God to take care of the rest. After they leave, Nasuh has a wish that Azize would feel the same way and give up revenge for good. Let my son rest in his grave, he says.
The ReyMir family have a picnic in their special place. Miran tells Umut this is where they found out about his arrival. Where he received his first gifts and where he rode on his first swing. Rey remembers they thought of his name here, too. This makes her a bit sad because Hazar isn’t here to know about it. He will never see his grandson.
Miran tells Rey that when he got Umut back, he told his father, I did it. I saved my son and kept my promise. Then he felt a breeze on his neck. Dad’s hand, Rey says, you felt it. I swear I did, Miran replies, how did you know? He used to do that when he was proud of you, Rey recalls, or when he wanted to show his affection for you.
Rey continues, remember when I said that he was more of a father to me than to you? I said that out of fear. I was scared that he [think she’s referring to Umut] would go through the same thing as you did. Rey asks for forgiveness. She loves Miran. Of course he forgives her. [What’s to forgive?]
Azize visits Fusun in jail. Props to the DOP on how this was filmed. Loved the reflections in the glass. We see the mean girls side by side, and then a composite, half Azize and half Fusun. Chilling. Fusun starts off, well… the devil has come to visit. Have you come to rejoice? Azize replies, if you want to see the devil, look in the mirror. I only came to see if you are still alive.
You are wasting your time, Fusun says, I’m not going to die. I won’t die until I watch you die. I may fall, but I will always rise again. I’ll help you leave this place, Azize responds. Really, Fusun questions, you looked very happy when the police arrested me. I wanted everyone to think that it was all over, Azize admits, but I don’t plan on letting you stay behind these walls. I want you to suffer and to watch you die. I want you to rot underground.
Fusun answers, death is inevitable. We are all going to die. But what I really want is for you to die first. I will take your loved ones from you, and you will blow your brains out, Azize. Fusun leaves her with that thought.
And we are out.
Thank you dondi356 for this most excellent recap! Hmmm, looks like we are taking a turn in this dizi, at least with ReyMir. It did only take Reyyan 67 Turkish episodes to get a clue.
The whole Fu arrest set up was exciting. Thank you for explaining more of the dialogue that I seemed to miss.
It was nice to see some creative cinematography again. The jail scene with Azize and Fusun’s faces superimposed to make one half of each other was brilliantly done. Looks like these two will still be at it. I also think Yaren has to be a factor at some point.
I have some gardening to do so not time to comment more. Thanks dondi356!
Wow, dondi356, what a wonderful recap! I especially enjoyed all your clever, on-target asides.
In spite of Miran's trying hard to keep his promise, I simply no longer have any patience with him. Even now, he again comes into the bedroom where Reyyan and Umut are sleeping and, AGAIN, inconsiderately, starts talking out loud to Umut, not thinking (or not caring?) about Reyyan lying asleep. Of course, he and Umut wake Reyyan. You say that Miran is sweet in this scene. Sorry, but I think he's just a self-centered [expletive deleted]. Sigh. Needless to say, I very much enjoyed your comment when Miran, for the umpteenth time, asks for another chance: "You only make promises, Rey and viewerville reply." And again: "you can’t keep your word, Miran. [it only took her 67 out of 69 episodes to figure this out.]"
I was also happy to see your comment when Miran assures (or fails to assure) Reyyan that "I won’t let anyone die. [we still have a week to go…]" Yes, your comment expressed the uneasy feeling I had all through this episode.
I wasn't at all surprised when Fusun's goons easily overpowered Cihan and Azize. Geez, what were they thinking, attacking when they were so outnumbered? And I too wondered when we saw Mahmoud lying motionless on the ground. Was he shot or at least knocked unconscious in a clip that Telemundo cut? Azize doesn't seem bothered, which leads me to think that he may not be dead. Unlike Fusun, who doesn't seem to give a damn about anyone, even, ultimately, her daughter, Azize cares deeply about many people, including, I think, Mahmoud.
Arrgh. QTF is that voiceover from Miran after the police have captured Fusun? It seemed both ludicrously out of character and also unnecessary. (As if I didn't already have enough reasons never to watch anything created by these writers again.)
I wasn't surprised when Reyyan said she had a nightmare. When we saw her right before she woke up, she looked quite troubled. And, of course, we've seen that Reyyan apparently has predictive powers via her nightmares. I wonder whether we're again going to get a bunch of folks eerily dressed in white. ¡Ya basta!
I too thought the scene between Azize and Fusun while she's in jail was well done, and much more imaginative than we usually see from these writers/directors/whoever.
So it looks as if Azize will once again cause chaos and, perhaps, unhappiness. I'm not surprised, given that we still have 6 more episodes to go. But if Azize can't rid herself of her thirst for venganza after moving away from that so intently, what chance is there that Miran will change his spots? Not much, I think.
Well, thanks again VERY much for this excellent recap, dondi356. I'm afraid my rant mode seems likely to last for six more episodes, but always about the episodes, never about your amazing recaps.
Dondi , you did it again...spun straw into gold. I can't watch Univision right now , but your recap was so detailed that I feel as if I watched the episode.
Years ago here at caray, the plot and dialogue was so repetitive that the recapper used to write " Julio's(?) Lines". " Maria's (?) Lines.
Most of the time these characters are mostly all talk and not much action . " I'm going to kill_____." Fill in the blank . There is a lot of sound and fury signifying nothing. Meran and his constant temper tantrums and Azz and Fu's never-ending threats. ....yawning here
They finally called the cops and got Fu in jail, but Azz wants to get her out to eliminate her. Silly.
P.s. can't wait for final season of " embajador." Squeee
Thanks SO much, dondi, for the detailed recap. I appreciate your including the Turkish dialog. And your asides were spot on, especially the impossible becoming possible being the norm in TN/dizi writing.
I didn't quite understand what happened with the half an army that was supposed to attack the SAD/Hopeless konaks. It didn't happen but I wasn't quite sure how it was thwarted.
And, yes, that scene with reflections in the glass and the two halves of the same character that thirsts for revenge were very well done. I WISH Azize would be satisfied with her enemy being locked up. I have been rooting all along for her to become Ayse permanently and for that scene they showed way back when of a large family having dinner, all smiles, to be the last episode.
I know I'm in the minority here, but ever since Azize discovered that Hazar was her son and saved him, I've wanted a happy ending for her.
They definitely surprised me with the cops showing up. And I got a kick, dondi, out of [yes, policemen].
Fusun really is delusional. Having seen all that she's done, how could she believe Azra would just turn into a doting daughter?
Superb recap dondi356! Absolutely superb! It’s like you’re weaving a tale that you wrote yourself, but I know your’s would be much better than the actual one, lol. This story has drained all of my reserves, and I just don’t know how the writers can continue to make these characters so SELFISH! Reyyan cries about how selfish Miran is ——and he is——but how selfish was it of her to leave Umut, too, and go after him!?!?! What if, for the sake of all the revenge that we’ve been exposed too, that Fusun managed to kill both of their dumb asses???? Reyyan went to all the trouble of bringing Umut into the world, but runs after Miran , and straight into danger, once again!?!?! Oh hell no!!! It’s like their insulting my intelligence and I’m taking it personally, and I don’t want too!!!
Then there’s Azize and Fusun who are like a festering pus wound that continues to leak it’s poisonous drainage on us viewers! I’m just done and tired of those two! Yes, their conversation, and the way it was presented, was different, but there is nothing that either one of them can say or do to make me remotely care anymore……sorry….
Really loved your recap dondi356, I just wish that I still loved this story…….sigh………
Great recap Darcy! Your attention to detail is amazing! A lot happened in this episode between Jimena and Oscar, and I’m glad she has the shoulder of a handsome “friend” to cry on. Oscar deserves all the angst coming his way, and I’m hoping that I won’t begin to feel sorry for him at all! The selfish jerk is now turning into a selfish crybaby. I am glad that he and the twins made up, but when Jimena does forgive, I want him to have gone through the fear, shame and pain that Jimena has—-and is——suffering.
Loved Muriel’s dance! Loved the look on Rosario’s face even more! I have a very hard time caring about Rosario. I realize that she’s carrying some deep wounds, but the way that she went about things with JD has turned me off from her completely. If she deserves true love, I hope she finds it with a man on her level……
I’m afraid for Norma too, and she’d better aim that knee of hers right into Adnan’s little demon. Hopefully help is on the way! What I can’t wrap my brain around is the fact that Adnan must have a death wish! Between Juan, JD and the twins, his existence is toast. Is he too STOOPID to realize that??
There’s something between Felix and Adela that’s got me asking a million questions. Something stinks big time!
Thanks again Darcy!

Thanks everyone. Your excellent recaps and delightfully snarky comments keep me on the patio. I thought this ep was a bit choppy, so I also checked the Turkish for edits or dialog changes. Surprisingly, there were no significant edits. I used some of the Turkish translations for clarification.
VVS, thanks again for stepping in this Wednesday. I’ll agree it seems “we are taking a turn in this dizi, at least with ReyMir.” Perhaps Miran has finally learned his lesson 67 episodes in. Too little, too late for me to really warm up to him. Cihan seems like a different man, too.
Juanita, I still think Miran is a “self-centered [expletive deleted]”, but I decided to throw him a crumb in this ep. I was suckered in by cute baby Umut, who is a much better actor. I think you and I are the only ones who care about Mahmut. It was the same in the Turkish ep. No idea what happened to him. I saw no blood. I’ll be ticked if this is how they write him off with no other mention. I’m still wondering about Rey’s nightmare and Cihan asking if she was sick. Does this signal something bad?
Susanlynn, you are so right about the repetitiveness. Lather, rinse, repeat. Lol, “all talk and no action” is Fusun’s knock against Miran.
novelera, I also wondered about Fusun’s army that was supposed to attack the konaks. Maybe the police intercepted the attack? I also wondered how Miran escaped the three thugs that intercepted him. No explanation in the Turkish either.
I’m still not ready to forgive Azize. She’s not Ayse. Makes me feel sorry for Nasuh. I also hoped she would give up revenge with Fusun’s arrest. But Azize probably realizes that Fusun will never give up and remains a danger to the family as long as she’s alive. I’d like to see Fusun and Azize eliminate each other rather than be redeemed.
Carmella, LOL and ITA: “It’s like their insulting my intelligence and I’m taking it personally.” I am convinced that any one of us could have written and directed a better story. First order: no bangs on Miran.
HalimaCandy, “why doesnt Sayed..put some dope in Fufu coffee and put her out of commission..!!” That sounds like something Yaren might attempt.
Hang in there… 6 episodes to go!
HalimaCandy, the Sadoglu's had backup, the new found Midyat police department, lol! Thanks for the reminder about Zehra's mom being sick, I did remember that. What I didn't remember was and comment in the past few episodes that she had died. Suddenly Zehra is gone during all the drama. What can I expect. I doubt we will every see Sultana, Aslan, Gonul, Azat, Josef again. I wonder if poor Hanife got a real headstone after 40 days?
I saw your comment right after mine, VVS.
The "new found Midyat police department" is the only explanation for backup at the konaks. They could have briefly shown it or specifically mentioned it.
I remember Handan passed a comment on Zehra after Umut was kidnapped. She said something like, how will we tell Zehra, she just lost her husband and her mother. At the time I thought WTH? I guess that explained why Zehra didn't rush in to help stop the kidnapping. I don't know why the actress suddenly went missing. COVID?
I think all the others you mentioned are gone for good. I'll be forever ticked about Hanife.
You know my seat is reserved on the Embajador patio! See you there!
I saw Çalıkuşu, with the devastatingly handsome Burak Özçivit. I liked it. He met his future wife, Fahriye Evcen (Feride), on the show.
Also, we finally have a release date of May 23 for Engin Akyürek’s new Netflix movie, “Yolun Açık Olsun” (may your road be open). English translation is “Godspeed”. Deals with PTSD. Trailer (turn on English subs) can be found here: https://www.netflix.com/title/81346062 It seems a little too spoilerish to me. I’m sure Engin will be great as usual, but I’m doubting a happy ending. Just my opinion. I know nothing of the Turkish novel it’s based on.
I am also at the Mahmoud table . I admire his loyalty even though it is to a person who doesnt deserve it . Azz asked him to do terrible things to carry out the revenge that twisted her into an evil witch who wasted her life and ruined her family.
P.s. OT..Dondi, have you watched " Calicuso" ( Lovebird)? It is kind of fascinating since the story is set in Turkey in the 1920s. I have always loved history plus I have become a fan of Burak Ozcivit.
I made an OT comment to you, but it disappeared. Hopefully someone can restore it.
I saw Çalıkuşu and I liked it. I am also a big fan of Burak. I've seen him in Magnificent Century and a few movies as well. I need to find time to watch Kuruluş Osman now.
My post also had news on Engin's new Netflix movie, coming on May 23. I'll add here that Engin’s new Disney+ series, Kaçış, premieres on June 14.

Jardinera recommended Kurulus Osman to me . It is good , but I took a break from it to watch Lovebird . I read that the horse riding and sword fighting were pretty dangerous for the cast including Burak. Yikes
I think La Hija starts tomorrow on Unimas .
dondi356, thanks for mentioning that you had sent an OT message that disappeared. I've now gone into the Spam folder and restored your missing post. I might add that there were posts from several days ago written by carmella and VVS, but they were pretty far back (4 or 5 days old, I think), and I decided not to restore them, esp. since they would have gone into the previous Telemundo y Más page, not this one.
I wish we could figure out why some posts go into spam. The posts are almost always legitimate postings, not spam. Let me just say that if you make a posting and it doesn't appear, it would be good to post a message here saying that this happened. That way, as soon as either RgvChick or I see your message, we can probably restore it.
I should add that I often look over recaps to make sure that if someone says, say, p. 3 of 4, I'll check to see that all 4 pages are up. If one is missing, I'll go look in the spam. For that reason and others, it's best if the pages are number p. x of y, rather than just p. x.
Hi, gang! I'm off on a mini-vacation with my family, but I had to stop by to say thank you to Darcy for another outstanding recap. I completely agree with you about Oscar and the twins. WTF!! Juan and Norma see that something is wrong but they just let it slide... again.
The way he treats the whole situation with the twins is what made me dislike Oscar first, Romina was not even a big deal yet and I already couldn't stand him. I had high hopes for Juan finding out and blowing up, but seeing how he's written, uttering words like a 2 nights affair is not betrayal, he might as well end up thanking Oscar for "helping" HIS children in their time of need.
Carmella, I agree with you that Adan is just too stoooopid to realize that losing his job will become his last worry when Juan finds out what he's been up to.
I do have a different take on Muriel's dance, though. I didn't like the way she tried to push her mother's buttons, after all she was the one who offered a truce and asked Rosario to play nice. Would she have behaved the same way in front of Norma? No! So the dance was not for JD's benefit, it was to show her mother that she won... Could be the fact that I don't really find JDMuriel all that WOW, but I didn't like her behavior - and having JD come in and out the bar at all hours of day, saying to him that daddy won't have a problem with them... she's such a jinx!
Hmmmm……I never thought about it that way Adriana. Although JD and Muriel don’t WOW me either at this point, they’re always touchy-feely and kissing, in front of everybody (look at around Sarita), so I didn’t think much of it. She’s young and has that devil may care attitude at times. JD also just loves being in the same space as her——when he should be at work! Lol. Were the shoe on the other foot, Rosario wouldn’t have a problem flaunting her boy toy. She didn’t care who was around either, and made it clear that she was going to claim what was hers, in front of his parents even!
So I guess like mother like daughter……you did give me a different perspective though…….
Carmela, you're right, Rosario would have done the same thing. It's almost as if they are using JD as a tool in their fight. Even before he was in the picture they had a rocky relationship.
And yeah, I feel like with all the problems his family has right now he's only adding one more thing to worry about. As his parents said, for now his situation is not that difficult, gotta give Big Sam the time to get to San Marcos first.
Hercai 2, #113 – El que Mal Actúa, Mal Acaba – Parte 1 de 2
This was mostly a very pleasant, lighthearted episode, full of moments of families sharing some milestones together.
ReyMir are on the swing on the patio talking about Zeynep and Firat expecting a child. Annoying Miran keeps teasing her about spilling the beans before Firat himself is told by Zeynep.
Firat brings the Yellow Centipede home. She keeps thinking it’s a visit and that they’ll go back to the Aslanbey konak. When her parents come down, she gets a backhand from Handan for having aborted her grandchild. In Yaren’s room Handan contrasts her with Reyyan, who was willing to die for her child. Then Handan locks her in.
A week later. Rey shows Miran Umut’s bedroom while he teases her again about whether he likes it. [This constant smirk of his drives me nuts.]
Miran has bought Rey a red car, and she takes him for a drive. [Mahfuz would have been my choice..]
Handan brings Yaren some food and tells her that she won’t be the lady of the Aslanbey konak.
Azra is telling Azize, Miran and Reyyan about Fusun’s injuries. She cannot walk or speak ever again. It’s a spinal injury. Azra says that she’s leaving the following day. She gets a Martyr of the Year award because she’s taking the former Old Gasbag with her and will care for her. [I say former Old Gasbag because some of the gas must have been released when the bullet went in.]
ReyMir are fussing over Umut, who’s up later than usual. He smiles! This kid is very cute. Miran takes him to a patio to move him around in his stroller so as to put him to sleep. We see the Yellow Centipede looking on from next door. [I guess Handan screwed up and forgot to lock her in after bringing her food.] Yaren threatens something first for Reyyan and then for Zeynep. “I know what I’ll do!”
There is a big party in the works to celebrate the circumcision of Umut. This appears to be like a Jewish celebration after a bris.
Reyyan walks down some stone stairs with Umut in her arms. Her idiot husband sends a box of rubber balls down the staircase. [I fully expected her to fall down those stairs. The Caray patio has often referred to these events as escalericides so we’re always expecting the worst.]
Rey Is a nervous wreck throughout most of the leading up to the circumcision.
Firat finds a house for Zeynep, who doesn’t look pleased. We later find out that what she wants is for Esma to live with them so their child will grow up with its grandmother. Esma is over the moon about the pregnancy.
Hercai 2, #113 – El que Mal Actúa, Mal Acaba – Parte 2 de 2
The doctor is at the Not-So-Hopeless konak and the males who surround Reyyan (Mahfuz, Cihan, Miran and Nasuh) reassure her it’s not so painful. Miran says that Cihan will be the kirve. Mr. Google tells me that this is like a boy baby’s godfather in attendance at his circumcision. Cihan looks human. His face softens and he’s so proud to have the honor. [Maybe Umut will get an opportunity to yank off the toupee someday soon.]
Azize comes to see Fusun. This was so well acted, and I’ll probably include everything she said. She tries to feed Fu. She says that she won’t kill her. She’d rather have visited her tomb, but she wanted to come see her pay for her sins.
Nasuh gets a call from Seyda about Azize being at the Aslanbey konak.
Fusun doesn’t seem to be swallowing the soup and some dribbles on her. Azize: “The terrible Fusun can’t wipe soup from her mouth. She’ll depend on others the rest of her life. This consoles my heart. Now you’ll wish to die. I’ll consider this a victory, my only consolation. You destroyed my life. You killed my granddaughter and then my son, two innocents. Thanks to me you’ll live peacefully the rest of your days. I raised Azra so well that she’s capable of showing mercy to a monster like you. She’ll care for you until you die. But Azra will never love you. This will be your punishment.”
Nasuh and Miran arrive and piss me off. They start in on Azize, especially MeRan, who’s had to leave the celebration. I feel that Azize well deserved that time with Fusun. She tells them that she gave up her vengeance as she promised but needed to tell Fusun some things. She walks away, saying they’ll never see her as Ayse. This is her punishment for the harm she did to them.
Seyda begs to come back to the SAD konak, and Miran brings him.
Handan and Cihan talk about gifts for Umut at the party. He plans to give him a small watch enclosed in glass that Hazar gave him at the age of 14.
We see Reyyan enter Umut’s bedroom only to see that the kid is in the tentacles of a snake…being held by Yaren.

Juanita called my attention to my having posted the recap to an earlier page. I've pasted it in here. Better late than never, I guess.
