La herencia # 11 Wednesday 7/27/22 Too Many Storms
1. Nobody can talk sense to Lucas. He wants to donate his inheritance to charity as stipulated in the will. Juan reminds him that to receive the inheritance in the first place, he has to live at the hacienda for one year. Lucas could not care less. He is ready to be out of there and for nobody to ever see him again. Pedro has to laugh that they are fighting just like any other damn family over an inheritance. Simón snarkily makes the case that it wouldn't be like this if Sara, their father's bastard, hadn't arrived on the scene. Juan yells at him to shut up. Sara warns him she will not put up with his disrespect. She says since he is a therapist he needs to help himself like NOW. He brushes her comment off. Lucas tells them they can do what they want. He is leaving the hacienda.
2. Juan goes following Lucas. Modesto tells him not to be too hard on Lucas. Juan is tired of indulging everyone when they feel like they have the right to insult anyone whenever they feel like it. He isn't putting up with that anymore. Sara agrees with Modesto and tells Juan that everyone in the family is upset. She suggests it might be better to make some sort of arrangement with Lucas for the family's own good as their father would have liked. Juan answers that their father also taught him that sometimes a strong word is far more useful than a pat on the back. He knows what he is doing.
3. In no uncertain terms, Juli tells Deb that she does not have to sleep with Juan to keep him. Deb tell her that all is fair in war and in bed. Juli can only imagine the wars that Deb has won using those tactics as well as her daughter Sara following in her footsteps. Juli is sure of the love she and Juan have. Deb says the only reason she isn't going to give her a few good slaps is because her mother is her friend. Juli needs to know that Juan's love no longer belongs to her.
4. Rosa is ragging on Jessica for possibly being interested in being an actress. Prospi comes in and she tells him to be a man and back her up by telling Jessica how things are. Prospi turns on Rosa and tells her he is fed up with her telling him to be a man. Rosa is surprised by his tone.
5. Happy times with Agustín and his family. Brayan announces he is the new groom at the hacienda.
6. The arguing between Rosa and her family continues in the living room. The girls stick up for their father. As Prospi goes to leave, Rosa demands to know where he is going. Prospi makes it clear that he is going to where exactly Rosa doesn't want him to go: the cantina. She threatens to go and drag him out. He tells her he knows that she won't be doing that because he knows she wouldn't set a foot in the place even if they paid her to. He leaves. In shock, Rosa yells for Berta who brings her some smelling salts. Berta will make her some tea to to relax her. Jessica tells them to hold on because she has some news that just might make her mother really faint. Jessica announces that she has a novio. Rosa is expecting the worst but when she hears that her novio is Lucas Del Monte, she is relieved and overjoyed. Alondra is shocked.
7. Pedro is already telling Simón that he is concerned that Lucas will end up donating his share to charity out of pure immaturity. Simón tells him to give Juan a chance to talk him out of it. Pedro agrees to let "Saint Juan" fix things. Pedro confides in Simón his plan to bring Tavo to live at the hacienda. Simón asks if he is going to take him away from his mother. Pedro says no because he sees it as bringing his son closer to his real father. That is what makes it different.
8. Juan goes to see Lucas who is upset that he cannot at least have his privacy. He asks Juan what is his problem. Juan turns the question on him and asks if he really thinks that renouncing his part of the inheritance is a good idea. Lucas is upset that none of them believes in him and that he cannot do what he wants. Juan reminds him that in life sometimes you have to put your own wishes aside and do things for the common good. Lucas knows that but rather than supporting him by helping him find a solution, all they did was get on his case. Juan tells him he is right and apologizes. Lucas sits on his bed where Juan joins him. Lucas still wants to leave the house because he feels like the family is coming apart. Juan tells him that is something they will not allow to happen because their parents always wanted them together. Juan doesn't want a broken family. He knows he cannot take their parents' place. He talks about his mother being so good to them. He thinks back to how loving their mother was to him and Pedro and how she told them about how this place was all theirs. The name of the place was the Santa Catalina Refuge. Juan was ready to plant avocados and ride the horses. She told them how they would first go to school and Severiano would teach them all they needed to know about the country and horse riding. They would have to learn how to walk before they would be running. Juan is giving Lucas that same advice. Juan proposes that he wait a year, get his inheritance and then use it for whatever business he wants. Juan will not oppose him. Lucas clarifies that the can use it for whatever he wants. Juan says yes and he will always be there for whatever help or advice he needs. Lucas offers his hand to shake on the deal. The brothers shake on it and hug.
9. Sara tells Modesto that Juan told her that her father rescued him and Pedro. Modesto informs her that Juan and Pedro were brothers by blood. He knew them before they were adopted. They were so very poor that they went barefoot in the streets because they were living with . . . . Modesto never identifies who they were living with and only adds that he doesn't know any children that have suffered more than his Juan and his Pedrito.
10. Alondra is upset that Jessica lied to their mother saying that Lucas was her novio. How could she do that to her? Jessica wants to explain her plan. Alondra doesn't want to hear about it because Jessica knew that she likes Lucas. Rosa comes into the room and is all excited because they now have a reason to go visit the DelMonte's to celebrate her and Lucas being novios. From the look on her face, this is something Jessica was not expecting. Alondra sits and cries.
11. Modesto explains that Juan was not a rich kid until Severiano and Catalina rescued the boys. Sara asks where they were rescued from. Through Modesto's memory we see a scene where Severiano and Catalina have entered a squalid hovel where both Juan and Pedro are sleeping. They are covered in bruises, bug bites and filth. Severino and Catalina each pick up a boy and carry them out. Modesto answers Sara saying that the boys were rescued from . . . death. The Del Monte's only wanted them to have peace and to be very happy. Sara says since she has arrived, there has been everything here except for peace. Modesto tells her not to be distressed because nothing is her fault. Sara supposes that things haven't been easy for him lately. Modesto agrees because even though Cornelio is his blood, Pedro has been like a son to him ever since he was little. He admits the situation is breaking his heart. Sara offers some advice from a very wise man. She repeats his advice that he just gave her: nothing is his fault. Modesto has to smile
12. Adela tells her father and son Brayan that Rosa has been threatening her saying that she is going to get don Pedro to rent her flower shop space to her instead. Brayan says she can't do that. Adela says she will do anything she wants as long as he is still hanging around with her daughters. Adela told them because she didn't want any secrets in the family. Agustín is upset with the news. She has to ask him several times not to get involved.
13. Deb greets Dante. She just got a text notifying her of the fund transfer her account. She is so grateful that he got Juan to pay off Sara's debt. She kisses Dante. He reminds her that not all of the money is hers. She assures him that he will be getting his cut like he always does. He asks how the situation is going with Sara and Juan. She says that she talked to the third person involved in the discord and believes it is all under control. Dante smiles. She asks how his meeting went. He abruptly tells her that his plans are his and not hers. They are none of her concern. He asks if she agrees. She puts on a happy face.
14. Juli touches base with Juan. She came by to supervise the work in the fields. She asks how things are going with his brothers. He says complicated but everything got resolved. Lucas now understands he needs to be prepared to do what he wants. She says his brothers love him for all the support he gives them. She loves him and puts her arms around him. He is non-responsive. She asks if they can get together tonight but he tells her that he has to stay with Mateo until he is released tomorrow. He even had to postpone the fertilizer meeting. Juli goes psycho and accuses him of not wanting to be with her because of Sara.
15. Pedro completes his back door deal with the investor saying that he cannot give him the Santa Catalina Refuge but he can give him the hectares that borders it. The investor is happy and they shake on the deal. The investor says that the guest they have been waiting for has just arrived. Dante walks in. Pedro looks surprised.
16. Deb comes to see Rosa in her shop where Rosa announces that Jessica is the new novia of Lucas Del Monte. Lying Jessica doesn't like her making it all public and Rosa orders Jessica away from them. Deb comments that having two son-in-laws from that family will not be easy at all. Deb asks what is going on with Juli because she seems to have nothing good to say about her daughter Sara. Rosa starts to defend Juli saying that Deb has to agree that Sara has her "personality" when Deb cuts her off. She and her daughter are high society and do not like to have to deal with cheap gossip. She further explains she can be really lovely as a friend but Rosa would never want to know her as an enemy because she can be among the worst. Rosa decides to stay on her good side and the visit happily continues with Deb wanting to get right into doing business as the new partner! Rosa squeals in delight. Jessica shakes her head.
17. Dante asks who would have thought he would run into Pedro doing business again. Pedro says that Dante really knows him and they pat each other on the back. Pedro has a big favor he wants Dante to do for him before they talk about the fields and other things. Dante makes it clear that Pedro's wishes are his commands. He wants to know what it deals with.
18. Juan tells Juli that he doesn't want anymore scandals or outbursts like she had in Sara's room. He also thinks it is best that she not come to the hacienda any more. The only contact that they will have will be professional and at the office. She doesn't know why he cannot see that she loves him. She wants another chance. She hugs him. Rosa comes in with Jessica saying how lovely they look together. Rosa starts chattering on about Catalina's wonderful taste in furnishings and how expensive they must have been. Lucas comes down the stairs and Rosa wants to talk to him about the good news. He asks what good news? Jessica grabs him and says that they are novios. Rosa is so happy that their families will now have two connections. Jessica gets Lucas to play along.
19. At the cantina, Paloma tells her dad Salvador how much she misses . . . her mother. He tells her that although she may feel alone, she isn't. She has her dad who loves her with all of his heart. He kisses her on the head. He leaves. She sings a sad song as she works.
20. It is storming again and Sara is seated outside under cover of the house enjoying the rain when Juan finds her. She talks about how much she loves the sound of the raindrops sinking into the fields and the how the smell of the wet earth is like perfume. It is as if you can hear heaven laughing at them. Juan says that her laughter is also a gift from heaven. Sara then surprises him by telling him that for the best of all concerned she is leaving the house. He tells her that she cannot do that. She reminds him that he suggested that she do that when she arrived. He says that was before he knew her but now he sees her as the woman who is changing his life. They tentatively hold hands. He adds that ever since she appeared, everything has changed. She admits that her world changed, too. He asks if that why she wants to run away. She says she has done so much harm. She adds that she is also afraid of love and doesn't want to suffer. He asks her to please not go and they almost kiss but don't.
21. Pedro is cleaning a rifle in his room and looking at a photo of him and Tadeo when Deb stops by. No, he doesn't like to hunt but he does like competitive target shooting. He points the rifle at her and announces he has the perfect target. She asks him not to be so dramatic. She only stopped by to say good night and to ask about his friend the "cornudo" (the cuckold). She "corrects" herself and asks how "Cornelio" is doing. Pedro tells her to not stick her nose where it doesn't belong and comments that it is getting late. He adds that deep sleep keeps the wrinkles away. It is something she needs. She says goodnight by first saying "may his 'little cuckold' friends be with him" but "corrects" herself to say "may the 'little angels' be with him." She turns and leaves. He points the rifle at her back. He gets a text.
22. Juan tells Sara that her absence would make him suffer. She feels the same way and that is what worries her. That is why she needs to get out of there. He tells her that they shouldn't be cowards . She says she is afraid. He assures her that she has him. They look like they are going to kiss again but don't.
23. Paloma sings some more sad songs. Simón arrives at the cantina to tell Paloma that he loves her with all of his heart. Everyone cheers except for Salvador.
24. Sara is on the couch when Deb comes down complaining that she cannot sleep with how it is raining. Deb asks Sara what is wrong. She says that she told Juan she wants to leave the house. Deb asks her if she is crazy because they will lose her inheritance if she leaves. Sara doesn't care about the inheritance. Deb says she thinks Sara wants to leave because she has feelings for Juan. She knows her. Deb wouldn't want her to lose it all over a man who is engaged. Deb is going upstairs to take off her makeup and go to bed but reminds Sara that Juan is engaged.
25. Salvador wants Simón to leave but he won't leave unless Paloma asks him to. Paloma tells him not to go. The patrons all applaud. Salvador tells Paloma that Simón will only make her suffer. Paloma says she is not a child and wants to talk to him. Simón is different. Simón pledges to Salvador that he will not make his daughter suffer for any reason at all. She is the woman he loves and whatever happened between his father and Salvador's wife has no effect on how he loves Paloma. Salvador finally allows them to talk.
26. Pedro comes to see Juli at her request. Juli dismisses Berta so they can talk alone. Juli explain that she made the urgent call she did to Pedro because there is something that has come up that is of interest to both of them. He says if it about the damage she did in Sara's room there is nothing to worry about. She tells him to not make fun of her. Pedro says he isn't but is congratulating her for doing something so inappropriate. She wants to get to the point. She wants him to be her ally. He wants to know what she is getting at. She knows that he is interested in Sara. Is he open to winning Sara's heart and taking her away from Juan???
27. Juan is at the hospital bringing Mateo up to date on how Lucas wanted to leave and give up on his inheritance. He tells Mateo that since he is getting out tomorrow, he is going to stay the night and take care of him. Mateo jokes about him fitting in the bed. Juan asks Mateo what is going on with him. Mateo says all he can do is promise him that he is going to change and stop acting like he is crazy. He is aware of all the the mistakes he has made and hopes that he can forgive him someday. Juan tells them that there is nothing in this world that cannot be forgiven. Mateo promises him that he is going to work hard at the hacienda and when he is out of there, everything is going to change.
28. Simón is talking to Paloma trying to explain how hard it has been for him to understand the terrible things that wretch a father of his did. She tells him not to speak ill of the dead. He apologizes and asks her to forgive him for the terrible things he said about her and her mom. He promises her it will never happen again. They can cut out his tongue if he ever hurts her again with things he says. As they almost kiss, Salvador says it looks like they are finished talking. Simón agrees, gets up and leaves. As he leaves, Salvador thanks him for not filing charges against him but adds that doesn't mean he is in favor of him and Paloma going out or anything.
29. Jessica tells Alondra that she doesn't see what the big deal was for her to say she was Lucas's novia. She tells Alondra to wake up. Lucas is in love with nature and isn't really noticing her at all. Alondra insists that she will win his heart. Jessica says it better be in the next life because it will never happen in this one which drives Alondra over the edge. Alondra warns her that if she continues being so stubborn about it, she will tell their mother that she is Brayan's novia.
30. Pedro and Juli circle each other like two animals. She knows that he likes Sara. She is proposing that he go after Sara which will open the road for her to Juan. She knows that Juan won his father's love and that Pedro has been left in his shadow. Pedro angrily insists that he has never been in anyone's shadow. Pedro makes it clear that he can win anytime he feels like it and whatever he chooses all on his own. She says that with how things are, they can make a deal. He can win Sara's heart. She will win Juan's heart again and they will both end up winning in the end.
31. Sara is out riding early in the morning when Pedro comes out riding, too. He flirts with her. He asks her if she is always looking good. She thanks him for the compliment but can hardly believe it coming from a player like him. He says he will use his best effort to convince her. She tells him not to bother. She isn't interested in empty words. He tells her she might be interested to know that Mateo is coming home to the hacienda.
32. Juan, Lucas, and Simón get Mateo situated in the bed in his room. Modesto brings him food. Juan is going to shower and go to work. He asks where Pedro is. Lucas says he went looking for Sara who was out riding. They all help get the tray with the food situated for Mateo. Modesto feeds him the chicken soup as if he were a little kid and they all laugh.
33. Adela wakes up to a flooded house from the storms. There's a leak in the roof.
34. Sara stops by to see Mateo who is eating his soup as Modesto looks on. She asks how he is doing. He tells her not to be a hypocrite. She says she is interested because they are siblings. He says they will never be siblings. Modesto tries to correct him. Mateo is done eating and doesn't want to be bothered by ANYONE. Sara tells him they are siblings although he doesn't believe it. She hopes he feels better and leaves. Mateo tells Modesto he cannot stand her.
35. Beatriz is eating with Paloma when Sara cones to visit to see how she is doing. Sara was very upset by all she told her about Pedro. Beatriz hugs her and say she needs help but has no idea of who to go to. Sara says she can count on her to help her out if she can. Beatriz confesses that Tadeo is Pedro's son.

“Pedro and Juli circle each other like two animals” perfectly described that scene. Big, brown eyed little Juli is the ultimate conniver.
My favorite scene was Prospi asserting his manhood, telling Rosa off in no uncertain terms. “Rosa is surprised by his tone”. So was I…and delighted. It is a shame that it took cheating with Deb to bring out this astonishingly assertive Prospi, but sometimes something good emerges from an unsavory act.
I'm hoping Berta will have more to do that profer smelling salts.
“Simón asks if he is going to take him away from his mother. Pedro says no because he sees it as bringing his son closer to his real father. That is what makes it different”. Huh?? I would have loved him to explain that twisted rationale. Bea has been a wonderful, loving mother and Tadeo loves her dearly. I cannot imagine that this will result in anything but heartbreak.
The depiction of the “squalid hovel where both Juan and Pedro are sleeping… covered in bruises, bug bites and filth” was all too realistic. Severiano and Catalina spiriting Juan and Pedro away brought a lump to my throat. They really did save the boys lives.
So Simón does have a beating heart.
“(Saint) Juan tells them that there is nothing in this world that cannot be forgiven.” Sadly, I fear the veracity of this declaration.
“Modesto feeds him the chicken soup as if he were a little kid and they all laugh”. I was happy to see this and hope the actors are having a bit of fun together.
I love Sara’s beautiful dusty pink leather jacket as well as the paisley yellow neckerchief Modesto sported. Nice touches by the stylists.
The hour flies by for me and am so happy to be watching this. I’m thoroughly enjoying it.
Jarifa, I’m having a very hard time with the dialog for the most part here so very much appreciate your providing all that I missed.
Diana
I have difficulty believing that this series is only 80 episodes long with so much conflict between so many people. QT had 122 episodes to deal with the inheritance issues and the dead patriarch in that only had two sons.
Julieta obviously doesn't watch enough novelas. She has no awareness that El corazon no se manda. I wonder whether she would be the same henpecking type as her mother if she ever does marry. I certainly can picture her pulling the Affected Delicacy act if she were ever to get pregnant.
She and Mateo were each other's "first." That gives him no right to claim her as his, but somebody might make something of it. Does anyone else think something will prevent him going to the rehab clinic?
Do Jessica and Alondra see how pathetic their older sister really is?
More later.
I haven't had a chance to watch the show yet, but I am.looking forward to it.
Ha..it only took a roll in the hay with Deb to make henpecked Prospi stand up to bossyboss Rosa. She evidently blog his fire and gave him some macho confidence.
And....the brothers go around and around revealing each personality and his desires and beliefs. The pot is boiling .
Diana, I had new found respect for Severiano and Catalina after seeing where they rescued the boys from. It seems that their mother was a prostitute but nobody wants to say it. As for the wardrobe, you are so right. I want that pink leather jacket. For me, Pedro’s reasoning for taking Tadeo was twisted enough to be evil.
Urban, I think Mateo will sabotage himself before or after the clinic and it will not be an easy road out of his addiction.
Susanlynn, so far this has been ALL “fussing and fighting”!
Lucas needs to grow up but his heart is in the right place. If he ends up with Alondra he will have a very bothersome suegra so he has more to learn than how business works.
BTW, the actors playing the brothers are between 32 and 43 years old.
Urban I liked and totally agree with your assessment that "Lucas needs to grow up but his heart is in the right place". He is a bit old to stamp his feet in disappointment and threaten to leave, but he is very kind. Maturation will help.
Mateo to me is by far the most unlikeable brother. Pedro is the devil of course but when he flashes those pearly whites...Simon is a close second but at least he knows how to smile. He needs to teach Mateo how it's done.
Susanlynn, well at least Deb's bad deed has resulted in Prospi growing a spine. :)
Diana
My money is on Mateo not going into rehab. and if he does, he will probably leave within the first week. He has not hurt badly enough in consequences nor had his moment of clarity to have a true desire to stop drinking.
Pedro might well be a sociopath. Diana, I totally agree with your comment re: Pedro thinking Tadeo is better off with him than his own mother.
None of the brothers appeal to me, at all. The horses look great and I'm warming up to Modesto as my favorite character.
I will feel bad if Pedro manages to take Tadeo, but Bea’s reason for telling was probably to make Pedro want her. So I will feel bad for Tadeo but not Bea.
Dante seems to be a really dishonest lawyer. It sounds like the debt money went into Deb’s account. So it won’t be used to pay off any debts! Sounds like Juan let the ball drop on that one.
I hope the likable characters are given more scenes!
Liz
While there were many issues last night I want to focus on Mateo and his chicken soup. He will not go to rehab. Why? It looked like, to me,that there might have been a whole chicken foot in the soup. (My peasant, Hungarian grandmother insisted on it to provide flavor; my mother, her daughter, insisted not to serve it to impressionable children because it brought 'bad luck', e.g., me!). But if there was a chicken foot in that soup, a curandero added it to put a curse on Mateo's life (as if he needed any help).
Is there a single redeemable Del Monte?
Daddy Del Monte was a terrible person. His only good deed was rescuing Juan and Pedro from that terrible house.
Catalina... I guess she was ok-ish? We haven't really seen much of her to tell.
Sara is fine, but a bit bland?
If you get a bit of awfulness, add some awfulness and throw a big bag of awfulness, you get Pedro. I HATE HIM SO MUCH! Poor Bea and Tadeo.
Mateo sucks as well. But I hate Pedro more.
Then we have Simón, the psychologist who could use some road trips to a psychiatrist. Just saying.
Juan is redeemable, but kind of meh-ish. Not a huge fan.
Lucas is my fav, but still... Redeemable for sure.
So I guess there are redeemable Del Montes.
My main problem with La Herencia is that I don't have a character that I really really like. In La Doña, I had Altagracia, in La Doña 2 I also had the hacker girl (can't remember her name, but I really liked her). In La Patrona, the telenovela I watched from episode 72 and am now watching from the start (it's complicated, lol) I had Antonia and her iconic hair and quotes ("Just breath, because that's the only thing you're good at" LOL XD) In Falsa Identidad, I wasn't really attached to anyone (I liked Diana the most, also Ricas), but there was SO much action going on, I was glued to the screen. In this one, I don't really have one that I'm attached to. Yes, there are things happening in every episode, but not as much as in other telenovelas. I'll keep reading for at least another ten episodes, but I'll see if I keep reading after the next ten episodes. At least we have Deb and Próspero for comic relief lol!
Thank you, Jarifa, your outstanding recap helped me clarify some of the parts I wasn't really paying attention to.
Juli says no to Deb's plan of seduction, which woule have been easy to do as a prometida, but prefers to become allies with Pedro from all people.
Bea keeps her secret for soo many years and there are still plenty of people in the dark, but she telld perfect stranger Sara??
I don't have a favorite character, either, or someone to root for, but I love tye ranch scenes - the infamous lunches where everyone is always fighting (mostly with Deb), Juoi sjowing up uninvited just to kiss Juan and to stare at Sara, then all the study talk, while Dearly Departed is staring down at the brothers...what am I forgetting?
Fun fact: Romanian chicken soup os better with the chicken parts, if not it's just a hot chicken tasting liquid.
Diana, I wonder who Juan’s and Pedro’s mother was? Why haven’t they shown her face?
Anon 1:55, I like the chicken foot theory!
Weirdo, Deb and Prospi are a breath of fresh air.
Liz, I wonder if and how Severiano trusted Dante so much. He is a real mystery.
doris, yes, the horses are sure beautiful and among the likeable few. ; )
I don't get why Deb doesn't want Sara with Juan since he's rich and the head of the company. So she prefers her daughter leech from men like her?
I enjoyed Salvador and Prosperi last night. Sal was funny shooing away Paloma so she couldn't hear what he said to Simon and, yay, Prosperi stood up to Rosa.
I sincerely hope Paloma (who could've been on Mexico's version of "American Idol") will calm him down as this Telenovela proceeds.
Jarifa: I cannot believe that Daddy del Monte was that trusting of Dante, who looks like a typical Gold-Digger himself with the plans of looting the $$$ with Gold-Digger Debbie.
Adriana: Pedro's sinister EVILNESS regarding Tadeo angered me & still angers me to this day.
I do NOT feel sorry at all for Bea, who brought all of this mess on HERSELF!
