La herencia #28 Tuesday, "As God is my witness..."

Here is a quick outline of last night's episode, I had a draft written but I forgot to save it so I'm kind of writing this from memory and from some quick notes I had.

Juan threatens Mr. Henry to ruin him and Pedro seems rattled for real, too. I mean, calling Juan's mom a prostitute also concerns him, so... Juan wonders who told Henry about their mom. Pedro plays dumb.

They talk about Sara, but Juan makes it clear that as much as he loves his brother, he will never give up on Sara for him - he can ask him anything, but that. Pedro pretends to be mortified over his feelings, he's trying to keep them in check the best he can. Poor tormented soul...brings a tear to my eyes.

Julieta "warns" Simon that Sara is a very very bad woman, she is sleeping with both Juan and Pedro at the same time, trying to turn one brother against the other. Simon belives her, but to his credit, points out that Julieta was playing with Juan, too, hiding her past with Mateo. Pot, meet kettle. He practically drags her out.

Irma comes to see Paloma, but she's not home and Modesto asks her to leave, while defending his brother. Irma finds out Paloma thinks she's dead, says she abandoned her because she was afraid people will judge her daughter for her mistakes.

Simon and Sara get into it BAD over who deserves the Del Monte name more. Lucas and Adela witness how Simon humiliates Sara, calling her an hypocrite, the so called women defender who is sleeping around - even Lucas might feel tempted one of these days. He states loud and clear that she and her mother are the worst of the worst. Calls her a prostitute several times, winning a slap from Sara, while Lucas tries to defend her the best he can. Simon tells Lucas he was a witness to a confrontation between their mom and Deb and knows that Deb asked Catalina to give Severiano a divorce. He blames Deb for causing his mom's premature death. Sara wasn't aware of any of this, but Simon is so high on his hate, he isn't listening to Sara's attempts to defend herself.

And then he really crosses the line, by dragging Sara out of the house in the middle of the pouring rain and shoving her in the mud. Feeling humiliated beyond belief, Sara has her Scarlet O'hara moment: "As God is my witness, I will never forgive you for this! And I will never leave the house!"

Lucas calls him a monster, but Simon blames it all on their father.

Julieta accuses her mother of being selfish and raising her and her sisters to be exactly like her. Always insisting she marries well, Julieta could never truly talk to her, share her real feelings. For once I'm cheering for Julieta to keep talking.

Sara goes to cry in the chapel. As Adela watches, she pours all her sorrow in front of her father's ashes. All she ever wanted was a family, their love, but now all that she feels is hate. Adela tries to comfort her, but Sara feels so much rage right now, for her father and for Simon - she decided she's done crying, they will never accept her as part of the family.

Later, after a well deserved shower, Sara is remembering Simon's humiliation and her promise to make him pay. Adela comes to check up on her and Sara allows herslef to be vulnerable with the older woman. Adela thinks she should tell Juan the truth, but Sara doesn't want Juan to have another fight with his brothers; she will deal with this problem.

Paloma makes another attempt to change Simon's opinion about Sara, but it's in vain. When he hangs up he remembers how Severiano was opposed to his relationship with Paloma.

Deb arrives just as the brothers sit down for dinner. She pushes all of their buttons again, like she does every single time, but then Sara arrives and Juan realizes something is wrong with her. Lucas tries to tell Juan what happened, but Sara stops him. Pedro and Juan tell the others how bad the meeting with Henry went. Lucas thinks Sara's idea of the live video was very good, Deb is impressed by how nice he speaks of her daughter - be careful not to fall in love with her like Juan and Pedro did (best moment of the episode, I laughed out loud).

Sara can't deal with the tension anymore and asks her mother to leave the table. Simon is upset Pedro also likes Sara, accuses her of playing with everyone. She ends up leaving the table, too, after Juan gets mad.

Mateo sends Julieta another message, promising to love her forever. Later he pays her a visit while very drunk, waking up the entire family. Bertha, who had tried to speak to Julieta about the Seniorito Mateo, receives him and the scene is kind of funny, but Mateo is so lame, he tells Juli he cheated on her.

Later Sara and Simon talk alone. Sara accuses him of being a macho. She tries to tell him that she knows how he feels, because she has suffered a lot as a child, too. She has traumas to get through, also. And no, she won't tell Juan the truth, because she's not like him.

Then Sara scolds Deb for her relationship with Prospi and for her so called investment in his company. Sara adds that many things will change and tells Deb what Simon did to her. Deb hugs her! She is shocked and pissed.

In the study, the brothers keep fighting about Sara again. Lucas wants to make another live to clarify everything. NO! Juan says.

Simon tells the others Irma is alive, Salvador lied about her being dead. Pedro is "happy" another one of their father's lovers is around. Simon says he can't think about this if he wants his relationship with Paloma to work, especially since they are getting married next week.

Pedro asks Simon if he thought about the possibility of Paloma being his sister, which makes Simon remember how much Severiano disapproved of his relationship. Haha, having Paloma as a step sister would be poetic justice. Let's see if he's better than Juan then, being involved with one of their father's bastards.

Adriana, I think I would classify that as a “technical difficulty”. Happens all the time to me around here. You got it all! Thanks.

The thing that has turned me off this novela is the unrelenting real and threatened violence to women. Simón is seriously mentally ill and needs to spend some tome in a mental health facility and jail. He has no excuses. I hope that Sara pays him back ten-fold. I loved that she told her mother. I am sure that Deb will be more than willing to take care of him.

Let’s see if we can get some other drama going beyond bashing women physically and figuratively.

Adriana - thank you for your recap!

This was an emotionally draining episode for me to watch. Especially Simón's rage. His rage toward Deb is understandable but he must have skipped the class about transference issues at Psychiatry School .

Julieta is now starting to show her dark side, lying about Sara sleeping with Pedro. Ugh.

"but Simon is so high on his hate" Well said, Adriana. It is like a drug for him. His rage toward Sara is frightening. It is almost like he is addicted to his hatred and cannot reason things out. Throwing Sara into the mud was beyond the pale.

And Sara seems to have had enough from Simon and is finally growing a spine. Too bad she can't get rid of Deb.

I'm still not understanding why righteous Rosa admires and is besties with skank Deb who seduced Sev and got pregnant.

The look on Irma's face when Sal told her Paloma is engaged to Simon
+PLUS+ Sev's warning to Simon to stay away from Paloma
= make me wonder if Sev is bio-dad to Paloma...and maybe even Simon. Or somehow related.

Seriously, I wish paternity DNA tests would just be done on all these characters, to sort them out.

What is it with being adopted and telenovelas??? Why is it looked upon like dirt? Must be a cultural thing because I've seen the discrimination too often in telenovelas, even from South America.

Thanks, Adriana. Great job. I'm just sorry you lost your draft because it made you have to take time to write anew.

Feeling humiliated beyond belief, Sara has her Scarlet O'hara moment: "As God is my witness, I will never forgive you for this! And I will never leave the house!"

Excellent description. Oh, boy. It will be WWIII now between Sara and Simon. Throwing Sara outside in the mud, shocking and horrible. I'm glad Adela witnessed this. I think she will speak up, to somebody.

So we get more of Sev's accident. I like the way they keep showing us more of it little by little.

The Del Monte clan is so fraught now, who could blame Lucas if he chose to be with his bio-family.

Adriana, I smiled the second I saw your excellent title. Capturing scorned Sara as having her “Scarlet O'hara moment” was inspired. This was a superb recap. Your astute insight and ability to capture all of the sordid events is incredible.

Oh goody – they opened with a repeat of the head-butting scene. Juan was like a raging bull as well he should! Henry calling Juan’s mother a prostitute was disgusting. I was gratified as I also thought Pedro looked shaken. I have to keep telling myself Juan has no reason to suspect Pedro of double crossing. Yet.

Sara’s physical eviction was painful to watch. “…Simon is so high on his hate, he isn't listening to Sara's attempts to defend herself” mirrored the intensity of that scene perfectly. Thank you for explaining what Deb said to Lucas about not falling in love with Sara (like everyone else).

Jarifa, I was also relieved that Sara confided in Deb what Simon did to her! Dude needs to be put in his place and I can’t think of anyone better equipped to do it. She seemed to have it “in” for Simon before. Now? Deb can screw with her daughter’s life but that is a right she reserves for herself exclusively.

Niecie, you are exactly right in that we are seeing a bit more of Sev’s accident each time we “rewind”. Initially, I couldn’t believe Simon callously left but I can now. He is so damaged.

“Simón's rage…toward Deb is understandable but he must have skipped the class about transference issues” is an excellent observation (of many) doris.

“Mateo is so lame; he tells Juli he cheated on her”. I. Can’t. Even…

I understood little of what Berta said to Juli or Rosa, but I think she is an endearing Tinkerbell whispering sweetness into their respective blocked ears.

Adriana, thank you for another exceptional outing.

Diana

Excellent recap, Adriana! Losing your recap right before you post it is mental pain. Thankfully I haven't experienced it.

"For once I'm cheering for Julieta to keep talking." Lol, same!

Simón is awful, shoving Sara into the mud like that. As much as I hate him, I don't want him and Paloma being half-siblings. I hate incest storylines. I find Juan and Sara's relationship cringe-worthy, the creepiest thing is that they knew they were step-siblings before the started dating.

If Paloma and Simón are step-siblings in some way, I'm sure Simón will be cool about it. Dating your step-sibling in the del Monte family is perfectly normal.

I don't know if it's my brain fog again, but have we heard about the avocados lately? I remember the whole "Pedro wants to take Juan's place as president" but I don't think anything was said about the avocados.

My comment disappeared. I will ask Rgv Chick to find and post.

Niecie: I am super confident that Crazy Simon & Psycho Pedro were both involved in Scumbag Seve's death.

Adriana: Good Job on the recap of last night's episode. Like I've said this before: Paloma: You made your bed with Crazy Simon, now lie in it.

Jarifa: Wasn't surprised to find out Scumbag Seve also opposed the Paloma & Crazy Simon relationship.

Weirdo: Goldie Locks Sara needs to take notes from Lucia of "MDN" & stop being pushed around.

Steve Boudreaux

Steve, since we know nothing about Simón’ parents, it is evident that Severiano knew enough about it to nix that relationship.

Thanks Adriana, an excellent recap of a really disturbing episode. Simon was horrible, I hope Sara finds a way to get even. But Julieta was just as bad. She told Simon that Sara was sleeping with both brothers.

I hope Paloma dumps Simon. She needs to realize what he’s like. Irma was smart to get away but she should have taken her daughter with her. I don’t like Sal at all.

Yes, Doris! I agree that they all need DNA tests to find out who they’re related to, and how!

Liz

Adriana, this is great, especially the GWTW reference.

The reason I don't have too much of an issue about Juan and Sara is because they didn't know each other from childhood. Had that been the case they would be relating as siblings and not as potential lovers.

Simon does not deserve forgiveness for his actions or his words. I have said this multiple times and it bears repeating: Accusations and insults like his are not forgivable. If he survives this story he better leave the ranch.

Rosa is under the very mistaken impression that Deborah is a sophisticated woman of the world and therefore worth knowing. Did Rosa ever live anywhere else other than this small town? I somehow don't think so. She has no sense of style or decorum.

There is possibly another reason why Severiano didn't want Simon involved with Paloma. It could just be the bad blood between him and Salvador; that's enough by itself. When did Simon first find out about Severiano and Irma? What is the age difference between Simon and Paloma?

I was also rooting for Julieta when she went after Rosa, who obviously deserved it. What now needs to happen is for Alondra and Jessica to do that.

Julieta, however, is just as bad as her mother and Deborah for accusing Sara of boinking both brothers. Sara owes another cachete or two for that.

Thank you for finding and reposting my comment Rgv Chick!!

Diana

Interesting seeing where all of our “ick-ometers” are. I would not have even cared if Sara and Juan were raised together as long as they were not blood related.

Cher Adriana, merci, for another great ride . So sorry that you had to write it twice.

Simon is nuts. His anger towards Sara defies explanation. He seems very threatened by Sara. Why? He also seems to have a much closer relationship to his mother than the other boys had . She should not have confided about his father's affairs. He was just a little boy being given information that was beyond his understanding . I hate the way he gets in Sara's face and calls her names even though he actually knows nothing about her and her past. Throwing her out in the storm was crazy . I liked the,way she got up and called him " little man" and grabbed his face with her muddy hand. Ha.Yeah, you go, Scarlet !!! Are Adela and Lucas also going to tell Juan what Simon did since Sara wont? Simon is projecting whatever pain he is carrying around onto Sara. He needs help. I hope Paloma's doesn't marry him because Simon is a nasty basket full of trouble .

Those flashbacks of the accident and Sev are not helping Simon's mental state .

Sara talking to Sev's ghost in his office was weird. We keep getting Sev flashbacks and visions.

What is up with Rosa's color blocking ? She had on a red top, blue bottom , and an orange cardigan .

Jarifa, Sara and Juan's origins haven't bothered me either. Had they been blood bros, that would have been different.

Susanlynn, Rosa's fashion choices are inexplicable. Her continuing to choose such contrasting colors was evident from the beginning. For someone so snobbish, she doesn't dress the part. We get it! :) Urban, I doubt Rosa is a woman of the world and agree she has likely lived her life within 50 miles of her birth and not ventured outside.

Diana

I wonder what Rosa thinks of Deb's new hat will with the squirrel tail (?) On it.

Susanlynn - LOL!!!
