La herencia #55 #56 Tuesday "Haters gonna hate, but Juan del Monte is the top dog"

Juan kisses Sara. She kisses him back and it’s quite a smooch. Then Juan says he loves her, Sara reminds him he was the one who pushed her away, why did he do that? It wasn’t lack of love, he explains, the threatening messages he received were about her. Sara thinks they should have handled this together, instead he preferred to lie.  His honesty was one of the things she loved about him. Juan says he will keep fighting to show her his love, even if they are no longer together. Sara asks him to leave, in a split screen we see that the talk has drained them both emotionally.

Bryan and Pedro talk about Bryan remembering this is the place where they used to kill pigs. He realizes something is off and wants to leave, but Pedro reminds him about money raise he asked for. Then he grabs Bryan and chains him (?) to the chair, asking him to shut up or else he will burn him alive.

Later we see Bryan with his eyes and mouth covered, Pedro screaming at him because he made him lose face in front of Sara. He is the dueno, his orders are to be taken seriously! Bryan screams, Pedro imagines that Bryan is his mother, says he hates her. Then he starts doing some sort of waterboarding, but with a funnel (don’t know how to explain it better, I’m no torture expert), at the same time threatening Bryan that if he ever opens his mouth again, next time it will be his brother, mom or abuelo suffering.

Julieta tells Mateo she never cheated on Juan and that will always be her story. Mateo reminds her of their last night together (flashback of said night), Juli thinks him remebering it means he still loves her. Mateo says he’s doing his best to forget that love. Juli leaves.

Augusto and Simon are still talking about the accident. Simon says that day has tormented him a lot, if Augie keeps saying he left his father to die it will only hurt him and Paloma. After the accident he only ran because he didn’t have cell reception and ever since then he’s had awful nightmares. And everything has been made more complicated by what Augie has been saying. Simon begs him, for Severiano’s memory, to forget all about it.

Deb tells Dante that she thinks Tadeo has Pedro’s evil genes, they both agree they have to be careful with him. Deb is ready to have him “disappear”, it wouldn’t be the first child to go missing in the world.

Sara talks alone about her love for Juan, she wonders if she should maybe listen to his words. But no, that would hurt her and the company. On his end, Juan thinks about insisting with Sara, too, but then changes his mind, he needs to leave her alone.

When they leave their offices, they meet, Juan suggest they go home together, but Sara doesn’t want to be alone with him. Juan reminds her they will share an office, Sara says that as long as it’s work related, it’s OK. Then she leaves.

Bertha is doing a massage on Rosa, who enumerates all her many qualities. They talk about the company and about the letters; Rosa wants Bertha to help by stealing them back from Deb.

Jess is upset Bryan is not answering his phone, what if he’s cheating on her? Prospi thinks she’s overreacting, they start fighting about the fact that he doesn’t agree with them still living in the house. Jess reminds him his cheating ways, declares Rosa is in charge, Prospi gets fed up and tells her that she and Bryan are leaving the house tonight!

Rosa asks why all the screaming, Prospi says since Jess decided to get married, she has to own it, go live with her husband. Rosa defends Jess, suggests a family meeting to talk about this.

Julieta arrives to whine about the fact that she is not going to get her church wedding, surely Sara had something to do with it. Rosa wants to leave immediately, “solve” this pressing matter, Prospi stops her.

It’s dinner time and Simon, Paloma, Tadeo, Augustin, Sal and Adela are all eating together. Augusto says that everything he thought he saw that day was in his imagination. Simon thinks they should put all of this behind them and enjoy the life they have now. Especially since they plan to have a Simoncito or a Palomita very soon. Paloma says that she’d like to wor before that happens, Simon says there is no need for that (OMG, to tell that to a freakin’ lawyer!). Sal asks if Simon is not aware that Paloma has already found a place for her law practice. No, he was not! Sal tries to cover for Paloma by saying it was supposed to be a surprised, so Paloma announces to everyone at the table that she will start working as a lawyer and her first client will be Rosa. They all clap, even Simon seems OK with the idea. Ha, as if!

Juan comes to see Modesto in Lucas’ room. They talk about Aurora, Modesto is shocked she dared to show up. Juan only wants to figure out what she wants. They also talk about Sara, Modesto thinks Juan should leave her alone, he is about to get married to Julieta. Juan admits he’s jealous, Modesto suggests he make her trust him again, like she once did.

Sara is in her room, remembering Juan’s words from earlier. But then she also remembers that Juan is supposedly stealing from the company? Who to believe, who to believe.

Corni is in the Bar alone, drinking, when Bryan arrives, crying, and shaking, in complete shock. He tells Corni that Pedro del Monte is a monster. Corni brings him some water, which freaks Bryan out even more (sorry, but that’s funny). Bryan says Pedro wouldn’t give him a raise, instead he threw water on him. Bryan asks for some booze instead.

Deb and Dante are still together, they have been walking and talking for a while, they are farther and farther away from the ranch. Dante wants to get back, but they see Pedro get out from his chamber of torture and they hide. Then Dante explains to Deb what is Pedro up to and Deb is actually surprised Pedro would go this far. She wants to go check out the place, knowing the enemy is always better.

They go inside, but the place is empty. Juan calls Dante, who lets it slip he’s at the ranch, with Senora Deborah, who wants advice about the boutique (good thinking on your feet, Dante!). Juan needs to see him immediately.

Sara and Juan meet in the hallway, she wants to talk about him doing “personal” business with the company. And now she has the proof he asked for. He wants to see it and she agrees to show it to him the next day. Juan is sure it’s a mistake, he never stole one cent. Sara says there are millions of pesos missing. Juan swears he will give up the presidency if she has valid proof. They decide to have a family meeting and talk about it. Sara thought bubbles that she can’t understand how Juan can keep lying.

Julieta doesn’t want Rosa to make a fuss about the wedding, even if she disagrees too. But Rosa dreams about Juli walking down the aisle in her white wedding dress. Jess gets upset with all the attention Juli is getting, Prospi says they love them all the same, but she has to start making plans for where she will live with Bryan. Jess whines that she hates them.

Dante hurries to see Juan, Deb meets with Pedro inside the house. He went walking, that’s when he gets the best ideas to fight his enemies. Deb reminds him she is on his side.

Pedro goes into the living room to find Tadeo at dinner. He asks what is going on, dinner with the servants every night? Simon explains they are his guests, Pedro starts mocking them all. Deb arrives, too, sits down, says she doesn’t care about who eats with her. Simon doesn’t want her with them, though, especially when Deb starts offending everyone. Sal, Adela and Augie eventually leave.

Juan tells Dante about the documents Sara says she has, he’s sure Pedro gave them to her. What he wants to do now is make a plan, he always knows what is going on in the company. There is a reunion the next day, he wants to teach his brothers a lesson. Dante promises to have all the documents they have prepared ready (oh, this is getting good!). Dante says Pedro’s resentment towards Juan has no limits. To my surprise, Juan seems to be aware of it. Hmm… does he look a bit sexier all of a sudden?

Prospi and Rosa try to talk to Jess, who is still pouting. Propsi explains that he didn’t throw her out, he wants her to be independent. Rosa agrees with Prospi, too, they give Jess a week to find a new place. Jess whines some more. They also have money problems, but Rosa and Prospi plan to work together, Jess and Bryan should do the same.

Lucas and Alondra are having dinner after therapy. Mateo and Julieta Baby join them, they talk about being a therapist and the progress Lucas is doing. Alondra tells them she invited Julieta (what?) and there she is, all smiles and practically no baby bump.

Deb comes to complain to Sara that the servants were having dinner at the family table. Sara dislikes her mom talking like this, but she’s very worried for the company. Deb is afraid the inheritance is in jeopardy, Sara would rather talk about the Millan company. Deb dislikes this subject, wants to leave, but Sara needs to talk to her. They are interrupted by Pedro, Deb leaves them alone and runs into Juan in the hallway. She tells him she is worried about Sara, who is very nervous. Luckily Pedro is with her to give her some comfort. Hehe.

Pedro tries to get Sara to relax (ugh). Sara says she spoke to Juan about their proof, Pedro thinks now he will have the time to build a defense. Pedro promises to protect her, they will deal with everything in the morning. Sara also tells him Juan said he dumped her in order to protect her. But she doesn’t believe him. Pedro says Juan is a hypocrite, a very good manipulator. And Dante is surely his accomplice.

Simon is upset Paloma didn’t tell him about her plans. Not only that, she has no need to work, he can maintain her. Paloma says she wants a career, that’s what she studied for. Simon says no, you are not going to work! Geez, what a prize!

Paloma says these are different times, but Simon doesn’t want her to work late, neglect their children. Paloma wants to take advantage of these first years just the two of them, Simon plans to be a father right away, like Juan and Pedro (what he forgets os how his brothers' kids have been conceived). Paloma points out life is not a competition. Simon wants to stop using protection and she can forget about being a lawyer.

Dante and Aurora are in Dante’s blue bedroom, wherever that might be. Dante wants Aurora to ask Juan a big amount of money when they meet, she needs to pay him for getting her back in town, but she doesn’t want any money. Dante calls her ridiculous, she needs to obey! He manhandles her, trying to force her to ask Juan for the money.

Dinner between Lucas, Alondra, Mateo and the Julietas is awkward, but they are saved by Juan’s call to his brothers. He tells them to prepare for a meeting the next day. Alondra goes to the bathroom, so the Julietas start talking about Mateo. Julieta Baby thinks Julieta is still in love with Mateo, Julieta is sure Mateo is just using Julieta Baby to forget about her.

When the others are back and Mateo asks them what they were talking about Julieta Baby says Julieta was trying to make her dump Mateo. Alondra is shocked, Julieta lies, lies, lies… Mateo and Julieta Baby kiss.

Juan sees Pedro get out of Sara’s bedroom and kiss her. Juan leaves before he can see Sara push Pedro away. She is very worried about what will happen tomorrow, she can only think about that and about her siblings’ reaction.

Later Sara is sleeping when Juan comes into her room. She wakes up and he says he is hurt she distrusts him. Sara points out he broke her heart and ruined her trust in him. He insists it’s not to late for them, he loves her and can’t live without her. And they fall on the bed kissing… but it’s only a dream. What? So disappointing.

Juan is alone, thinking about Pedro and Sara kissing. Lucas comes home, Juan tells him about the kiss, he admits Sara has the right to be happy, but does it have to be with Pedro? Lucas thinks he should fight for her, then, he obviously still loves her. But Juan is adamant he can’t do anything about it, he will keep loving her in silence.

The next day at Avocados RUs, Juan and Sara are nervous, waiting for the meeting. Pedro is very sure of himself.

Alondra visits Julieta, she wants to talk about what happened with Julieta Baby. She needs to start seeing Mateo like a brother-in-law. Julieta insists she doesn’t care about Mateo, and regardless, it is none of Alondra’s business.

Alondra doesn’t understand what Julieta’s problem is, she has everything that she ever wanted. Yes, she dislikes Sara, too, but she got Juan back, what more does she need? Alondra adds that Sara didn’t ruin her life, her problem is that she loves Mateo and not Juan.

Rosa and Prospi are at breakfast when Jess comes to say Bryan didn’t come to sleep. She thinks he spent the night with someone else, when Bryan eventually shows up, still in shock after what happened to him. They can’t realize he is not well, Prospi asks Rosa to go, allow Jess and Bryan to solve this on their own.

But Bryan only wants to sleep and he’s been drinking a lot, but Jess smells perfume on him, too. She starts crying, he tries to talk, but she asks about the shirt he’s wearing. He says Corni gave it to him, he can’t stop thinking about the night before. Jess calls him a drunk, but Bertha realizes he is not OK. And then Bryan starts throwing up.

It’s reunion time and Pedro tells the others that Juan is embezzling company funds. They all look over the account statements, Pedro gladly explains the documents, while Sara waits for Juan’s explanation. Simon believes Pedro, Mateo asks Juan to speak up, Lucas says these documents have to be made up, it’s not that hard to falsify documents nowadays. Pedro insists the information has been verified and Sara says if this is true, he deserves to end up in jail.

Juan hasn’t spoken so far, but he eventually says he never stole from the company, he always worked with their father for the company. Pedro wants to stand twice, but Juan pushes him back in his chair (LOL). Juan continues by saying this is all a plot to remove him from the company. He gathered all the financial information the company has ever produced and Dante has all the documents to prove that everything is in order and he never stole anything. Pedro says this is a lie, but Lucas trusts Juan. Juan insists he could never do something against the company’s best interests, but knows who would. Henry! Simon and Mateo think they are only blaming a dead guy who can’t defend himself. But Dante has the proof, Henry had a lot of obscure contacts. He was the one who ordered the attack against Sara and Pedro, but he was also planning to attack the company, by preparing these false documents that Pedro received. Pedro insists the account statements are correct, so Juan asks a man to come in. In the meantime, Juan wants to talk to Pedro alone. Sara wants to go with, but this is a talk between brothers.

Adela is playing with Tadeo, making a robot. Corni comes to visit him and Modesto. Deb asks Adela for something to drink. Then she asks Tadeo to be her friend. At least she is not threatening the kid.

Juan, Dante and Pedro are in Juan’s office, where Juan confronts Pedro about his plot. Pedro calls him a thief, Juan slaps him (not even a punch, haha!). Juan knows Pedro was the one embezzling, he is the thief and dad told him all about it before he died (flashback of a talk where Sev makes Juan promise not to tell anyone what he is about to tell him: Pedro has been stealing from the company. But family is more important, his brothers can’t find out, he needs to protect Pedro! And when he’s gone, Juan will be the head of the family; it’s a good moment for him to learn a valuable lesson: the company is worthless without his brothers’ love).

Back to the present Juan asks Pedro if he wants a confrontation in front of their brothers.

Prospi and Rosa meet with Paloma at the bar (since her office is not ready yet). Paloma doesn’t have good news, they will have to go to trial. Prospi says they trust Paloma to help them, he is sure Deb won’t won this battle. Sal arrives with food, he wants to help them, too. They could even have a double wedding, with Adela and himself. Ahh, Rosa's face!

Julieta and Julieta Baby meet in town. Once again Julieta confronts Baby, how much does she trust Mateo? He kissed her and made love to her, too, Mateo loves her! Baby thinks Julieta needs a shrink to treat her narcissism, Julieta tries to slap her, but Baby is not backing down, she’s sure Mateo will eventually get over her.

The man Juan brought explains to everyone that Henry Miller paid off one of their bank employees to falsify the documents that accuse Juan. They have video proof, and that was not the first time Henry was doing this. Juan and Pedro are back and Pedro says he made a mistake, and it is his fault for believing such a lie. Therefore, he quits from his VP position. Juan doesn’t think it necessary, neither do Sara or Simon. Mateo thinks they need to purify the company, to many bad things are happening, maybe Modesto has a remedy LOL.

Juan doesn’t accept Pedro’s decision, he has to stay at the company and remedy his mistake. Pedro leaves, Sara wants to go after him, but Juan asks her to allow Pedro some time to think.

Corni is visiting Modesto, he finally understood what the Del Montes mean to him when he saw how he defended the ranch. Modesto insists Corni is his son and he loves him above all else.

Deb and Tadeo arrive, all friendly, so Corni takes Tadeo away. Deb thinks Corni should thank her for taking care of the boy, the stairs in this house are very dangerous.

In her office, Sara is happy Juan proved his innocence. Bea thinks what Pedro did is very serious, Sara says she doubted Juan, too, she can’t blame Pedro.

Later Sara apologizes to Juan for doubting him, deep inside she always believed him. They talk about Pedro and Juan says he only wants to protect him. Sara thinks he’s a very special man and Juan caresses her cheek. Just in time for Julieta to get in without knocking – is anyone getting flashbacks of the first capitulos?

Pedro is walking in town, remembering Sev confronting him about his stealing. Aurora sees him and calls his name. The woman must have a death wish.

Adriana, your titles are inspired! Loved tonight’s as well as last night’s (which I had failed to note). A marvelous summary! Pedro has ridden the crazy train and arrived at his stop aptly titled “No Redemption Road.” His eyes are literally glittering with insanity.

It was very difficult watching Bryan being tortured. And really, no one notices he is hurt when he returns home? Crying, shaking, looking like he was in hell (which he was), at least Berta finally realized something is terribly wrong.

Is Simon admitting that he did run away from Sev’s accident and didn’t return? He was blubbering and clearly angry at his father, but I kept thinking he did go back. Next, confoundingly, out of the blue, Auggie attributes what he “saw” that day to his vivid imagination? I’m confused. I thought there was more to the story.

Also, did Simon think Paloma was going to put her law degree in a drawer and not use it? He doesn’t want her to work? OMG Paloma you had so many chances to run, now you are mired in his muck.

So first Deb comes out and says she wants to “do away with” Tadeo. Then, that remark about the “dangerous stairs”. Suddenly, Deb’s ever present smirking smile turned hideously evil.

“Dante says Pedro’s resentment towards Juan has no limits. To my surprise, Juan seems to be aware of it. Hmm… does he look a bit sexier all of a sudden?” Yes, absolutely Adriana! So glad Juan managed to clear up Pedro’s lies but let him know he is well aware of what Pedro has been doing. Gotta love a man in charge!

Juli Stepford vs. Juli wannabe are getting a bit tiresome.

Little to laugh at but Rosa literally pushing Jessica out of the way when Juli arrived was one moment. Is Prospi’s new look backsliding? Didn’t relish the dark yellow/mustard suit.

Could Aurora have picked a worse moment to call out to Pedro?? “The woman must have a death wish” is perfect Adriana!

Adriana, excellent. Thank you, thank you!

Diana

Thanks for the amazing recaps, Adriana. I really like your writing style.

I agree with Próspero on Jess and Bryan. They should get a place of their own.

"Pedro says Juan is a hypocrite, a very good manipulator. And Dante is surely his accomplice." Juan ain't no mirror, Pedro.

Damn it, I hoped that Pedro would and up more exposed that he actually ended up.

"Aurora sees him and calls his name. The woman must have a death wish." LOL. True.

"OMG Paloma you had so many chances to run, now you are mired in his muck." Exactly, Diana. I hope she divorces Simón. He doesn't even want her to work? Where are we, in the '50s?

"the stairs in this house are very dangerous" Foreshadowing? I hope so!

Great work, Adriana. You didn't miss a thing.

I couldn't believe the scene between Aurora and Dante. Abusers like her do not typically regret their actions. Did she tear up the check in the hopes of getting a bigger one later from Juan and Pedro? That would be far more believable. Or she does have a death wish. I would not have faulted Pedro for killing her.

Had Juan been the first to confront her alone does anyone else think he would have paid her off to disappear thereby preventing Pedro from going off the deep end? Would he have tortured poor Brayan if this had been prevented?

That poor young man has just suffered so badly it will present a horrible setback to his life. Sara can arrange for him to get mental health assistance but it will be a long recovery. Jessica just proved she is completely unprepared to face any of this.

And sorry, I think Tadeo is in real danger. Deborah will stop at nothing; she has ice in her veins. Dante is not really any better than she is.

At this point I don't think we will be meeting Mrs Dante.

Julieta got called out, but that will not stop her.

Finally, we were all right that Paloma should never have married Simon. How dare he insist she waste her degree to start making babies. I have never liked the idea of people rushing to ditch contraception right after taking the vows.

Adriana thank you for the recap. You did a wonderful job relaying all of the details of the drama last night.

Diana, "OMG Paloma you had so many chances to run, now you are mired in his muck." Paloma can do her own divorce and do Brayan a favor and do one for him, too! Jessica is a spoiled brat, a mini-Rosa. I enjoyed Prospi telling her that her residence in his house was coming to an end. It looks like Jessica has buyer's remorse in terms of Brayan. I don't see any love there, just sex.

Weirdo, "Damn it, I hoped that Pedro would and up more exposed that he actually ended up." Me, too. I am so sick of Juan feeling teh guilt that his father laid on him to protect his brothers. He did himself and the family no favors.

Urban, "Deborah will stop at nothing; she has ice in her veins. Dante is not really any better than she is." I wonder what will happen when these two vipers will be forced to turn on each other or will their goals always be in alignment? When the $$$ are on the line, I think there could be problems.

When Simón told Agustín to erase the thought that he killed his father from his mind, it oddly sounded like an admission of guilt. I think that Agustín shut up because he was intimidated.

I had to laugh as Jessica seemed to physically push Jessica out of the way to talk to Juli when she arrived. Clearly, Sara is the more valuable daughter. $$

In a way if all four agreed, Juan and Juli could have an open marriage with Juan having Mateo on the side and Juan having Sara. It could be a swinging time on the hacienda. Juli's reaction to Julieta Baby was ridiculous. She has a death wish.

Pedro has no worries because he has his other company already set up. Might it be another avocado company?

Deb singing with Tadeo was extremely creepy. Loved it!

YES, it sounds like the STAIRS might be coming into play. I sure hope so for the sake of my bingo game!

Another great recap, Adriana. Thank you!!!

How did Simón and Paloma not talk about having kids and her having a career before they got married??? This in itself is a PSA.

- ‘the company is worthless without his brothers’ love’ is so full of bull-hockey….puhleeze. Just ... no. My telenovela beanie hat cannot be made tight enough for me to swallow that rubbish. Severiano knew Pedro was stealing from the company, but “the family” was more important? Therefore, he was not going to do anything? And let Pedro continue to steal? Hel-lo?!?! Was he going to allow Pedro to steal it all, as in 100%? Where was Sev going to draw the line?
- Sounds more like dysfunctional enabling than family values. A sane good father would let Pedro suffer the logical consequences of his crime, instead of allowing it to continue to the detriment of the company and the other sons’ financial interests. Sev was loco anyway, because he was a serial adulterer in spite of his great “love” for his wife. Gah. I’m so done with San Severiano.

Wouldn’t surprise me if Pedro engineered that accident that killed Sev. Last man standing takes all.
IMO Augustin is back-pedaling for the sake of keeping peace for Paloma, Sal, and Adela’s sakes.

Julieta Baby is Lucas’ therapist? Wow, this show just gets better and better. If Juli had any sense, she wouldn’t have shown her cards to JuliBaby. Oh, wait, she truly is loco, needs professional help, and probably should be in a manicomio by the end of this telenovela.

I am so ready for the Por Fin!

Cher Adriana, merci for another fantastic rundown of everyone who got rundown in this episode.

Yikes, this was a dark, dismal episode . Pedro's anger and bitterness has plunged him into madness .

Deborah Vibora's greed has take her down a dark path. I can't believe her intimidation of a child. She has gone crackers, too.

Dante is starting to look a little unnerved and perhaps stunned at his inability to control Pedro and Debbie Downer.I

Rosa physically flinging Jessica aside to grab onto moneymaker Juli was was l and very telling.

Jessica is pitiful, a spoiled child who doesn't comfort her traumatized husband . She is useless.

The comedy sound effect, brief as it was, when Rosa tossed Jessica aside upon Juli's arrival was unexpected. That was our comedy relief for the night but it was not enough.

Brayan's newfound fear of water was a bit overdone, IMO.

Pedro's torture chamber is where they used to kill the pigs? How odd, because there is a very small altar-of-sorts with a cross and a small stained glass window behind it.

Doris, yes, I noticed that stained glass window ...in a barn ?? It looks like bales of hay are stored there , and what about that opening with hanging chains ? If that was a a butcher house ..yikes.

P.s. I watched yesterday's episode, and the actress playing Paloma had already gotten down the staircase when she seemed to overturn her ankle and stagger. The actor playing Simon kindly reached for her to keep her from falling. Totally unplanned.

Adriana: Enjoyed the recap of last night's episode. Crazy meets Super Crazy!

Doris: I'm doubling-down on my bold predictions of Psycho Pedro & Crazy Simon involved in Scumbag Seve's death.

Jarifa: Gut feeling Augustin & Aurora will NOT be long for this world!

Steve Boudreaux

IMPORTANT

Tonight "La herencia" will be on for only one hour: the first hour. It is being followed by fútbol.

Steve , I agree with you on who did Severiano in.

Thank you Adriana for another fantastic recap! I haven’t watched yet but I am sure your recap will be the best part of these dark episodes.

Brayan lives but Pedro is getting darker and darker…..

Diana, I still say it can’t be true that Simon left the scene of the accident and didn’t come back because he was THERE when Juan and Pedro came upon the scene. In episode 1 Simon and Sev left for work together and then Juan and Pedro left (each driving their own car) for work right after them. By the time Juan and Pedro caught up to the accident scene Sev was outside of the car and Simon was there beside him so he couldn’t have really left. Whatever happened in the immediate aftermath of the accident, Simon must have shook it off and headed back to daddy. Maybe he really was walking up the road to get cell reception and call 911? Someone called…Whatever Simon’s issues I don’t think he was actually involved in Sev’s death. Why would he have gotten in the car with him if he had known what would happen? I think it’s very possible Pedro was involved but I believe Simon was clueless and whatever his original reaction to the accident was it was just shock and trauma. He’s clearly no where near emotionally healthy but I don’t think he’s a criminal, that’s Pedro.

Deborah is not crazy; she is a psychopath. The only thing she didn't do in all this was to sell Sara's virginity to the highest bidder X years before the curtain went up. She would have no qualms about killing Tadeo or anyone else.

Thanks for your comments, Patio gang!

Darcy, I have the same take on Simon's actions that day: we saw him run, but we also saw him get back and stand by Sev's side before Juan and Pedro arrived.

Diana, I found Simon's talk with Augie very manipulative, but it could be the fact that I truly dislike him.

Weirdo, I hope Sara doesn’t feel sympathy for Pedro being "fooled" by Henry, with Juan 's wedding approaching, she will be very vulnerable.

Urban, I think Juan would have gladly paid Aurora to go away, he still might in my opinion. But Pedro mught get to her first, if you know what I mean.

Susanlynn, I was looking at Dante last night, how he chooses sides depending on what suits him better. He's not willing to lose his main cover, which is "the Del Monte lawyer", but he is very apr at manipulating things behind the scenes. Let's see for hpw much longer he manages to keep Deb and Pedro in check.

Doris, I think Sev was about tp do something about Pedro right before he died, he did confront him during Juan's engagement party. And I also think this is what made Pedro want to kill his father- after seeing what he's capable of, I realize that setting up a car accident would have been a walk in the park for Pedro.

"Juan ain't no mirror, Pedro" HA! Thank you Weirdo - I needed that!

Susanlynn, "dark and dismal" defined last night to a "t".

Urban, to your (great) comment, I do think Pedro has been pushed to the brink by Aurora's appearance. I thought for a brief second, Pedro saw Aurora's face when he started torturing Bryan. Did I get that wrong? There's no excuse to what Pedro did to the criminal, let alone someone like Bryan. A level of cruelty I didn't initially think he possessed.

"Paloma can do her own divorce and do Brayan a favor and do one for him, too!" had me smiling away Jarifa. I agree Jessica is spoiled but I thought the one thing she had going for her which was her love for Bryan. The fact she didn't realize he was in crisis showed a real low level of shallowness.

"Sounds more like dysfunctional enabling than family values". doris, you nailed it. And sadly, Juan seems to be following in Sev's footsteps.

Darcy, thank you for relating what transpired at the scene of the accident. If my lousy memory serves me, I do think Auggie did leave early before what you described above transpired. At the moment Simon's behavior is abusive. I agree he isn't a criminal. Yet. His rage may sadly change that. I hope it doesn't!

Diana

Diana - yes, the camera showed a half-second view of Aurora's face in place of Brayan's.

Great comments, everyone.

Urban, ITA about Aurora.
Doris, ITA about Sev. I'm sick and tired of everyone worshipping him.

Darcy, you have a good memory. Thanks for adding the details from episode 1.

"I agree Jessica is spoiled but I thought the one thing she had going for her which was her love for Bryan. The fact she didn't realize he was in crisis showed a real low level of shallowness" Diana, I thought so too. Is Alondra the only normal daughter of the three?

Here's hoping th a when Juan and Sara find out about Pedro torturing Brayan they make it up to him big time in the finale.

Jessica is naive and I agree that she and Brayan were all hormones on the way to their marriage. She now does not know what she's dealing with and she needs to grow up fast.

Dante has a privileged position as the del Montes' lawyer and he may be realizing that he is about to kill the goose that's been laying the golden eggs. There are times that he looks at Deborah with a certain level of alarm. He could have more clients like them rather than attempting to steal everything from them. He also killed Henry after the attack on Sara and Pedro. That is why most of us think that he was Sara's sperm donor.

Out of curiosity, this morning I went back too episodes 1 and 2 (on Demand via my cable TV), to see the car accident again along with the original office meeting with Sev. It was easier than finding the recaps for these episodes. ;-)

When Sev announced he was retiring and named Juan as president, Mateo and Lucas were happy for Juan. Simon looked very unhappy while Pedro had a hissy fit and was outright angry.

Laster in the office, Sev told Pedro that ' nothing he (Pedro) does is invisible to him(Sev).'

Later, at the engagement party for Juan & Juli, Sev pulled Pedro aside and told him that he knew about Pedro stealing from the company. Pedro's response was " prove it."

The accident scenes never show Simon walking away from the vehicle. Juan was driving down the same road and came upon the scene. Simon was lying on his back on the ground with Sev on top of him; it looked like he had pulled Sev out of the car and that's as far as he got.. Juan is shown using his phone to call for help. Pedro's car was behind Juan's and he was there, too, but it is too hard to read his scowly face to know what was going on in his mind.

Both Sev and Simon were wearing seatbelts in the 2nd row seat of the SUV.

Oddly, we never see what happened to their driver.

Who knows if we will ever find out what or why Augustin saw what he says he saw. My guess is Simon was stunned from the impact, then came to his senses and went back for Sev.

Super job, Adriana. You explained the unexplainable in Pedro’s torture chamber.

I could barely focus on the scenes in the first half-hour because I was on pins and needles wondering what was happening to Bryan. But I did lol when Simon made that tight smile upon Paloma’s news, in front of his in-laws, that she was starting a law practice.

You go, Paloma! If Simon doesn’t get onboard to support your dream, his loss. Oh well, at least they use protection, so Paloma can get out before any Simoncitos show up. I'm still expecting his machista redemption though. I've liked him since the early days when he challenged Deb taking his mom's room and throwing her framed photo in the trash. Incredible, Simon and Paloma dated for years. So he thought her studying law was a hobby? Loco.

ITA Augustin saw what he saw, Simon running away, but is recanting only to save the peace. But Augustin didn’t watch long enough to see Simon running back and pulling Sev from the car. I’m thinking Simon confessed way back when to Paloma that he killed Sev because he feels that delayed response could’ve cost Sev his life. But somebody else set up that accident.

Pedro, how do you go from calling him “San Juan” for the ages to accusing him of stealing from the company? Loved Juan shutting it down quick and slapping Pedro. Glad this didn’t drag out long and that Sara finally knows why Juan dumped her.

Hey, Rosa and Prospi were wearing coordinated suits, hers in orange/rose(?) and his in mustard. And she lost the MC Hammer [thanks, Diana!] pants.

Aurora thought-bubbles something defiant (like “that’s what you think”) when Dante roughs her up.

Seeing Pedro’s torture chamber doesn’t seem to have scared Deb away from preferring Pedro for Sara. Maybe Deb thinks Pedro will be dead anyway so it doesn't matter?

Thanks, Adriana, for the detailed recap. I can’t imagine the work that goes into retelling an episode, let alone a double one. I find it hard to comment, by the time I finish reading I have to think of what happened at the beginning.

I was very relieved, but surprised, when Brayan walked into the bar. I was sure he had been killed. And I thought Pedro had funneled something flammable down his throat to burn him alive! Didn’t realize it had been water until he freaked out when Cornelio offered him some!

Yes, Juli really seems to be the favored daughter. But maybe she had more problems growing up and they’re more protective of her. I still don’t like her but her parents do! She apparently had a big jealousy problem at one time, still does, but didn’t it end things with Juan for a while?

During Sara’s dream all I could think of was that the door was open!

I hate the way Deb and Pedro treat people they feel are a lower class. I’m surprised Sara doesn’t see this in them. She keeps forgiving Deb for all the mean things she says and does.

The dinner with the Julis was awkward. What was Alondra thinking! I wonder if Juli will be the one to back out of the wedding. She seems more in love with Mateo but wants them both! I hope she ends up alone. Mateo deserves better.

I think Aurora is going to be sorry she came to meet her sons. I feel like Pedro is going to beat her up. Maybe someone will interfere. He’s got to be around at the bitter end.

Doris, thanks for writing what happened in the first episode. "My guess is Simon was stunned from the impact, then came to his senses and went back for Sev." I agree.

"Paloma can get out before any Simoncitos show up" LOL, Niecie!

"During Sara’s dream all I could think of was that the door was open!" So I'm not the only one who notices details like that, Liz? Good to know!

Liz, thanks for reminidng me the opened door, I DID notice it, but didn't put it in writing, doing doubel episodes kind of forces you to cut bits and pieces that could be fun to talk about.
My theory is that Juli is Rosa's favorite because she is Sev's and/ or because she is almost married to a Del Monte. I really hope she ends up as Sev's daughter, but doesn't have the right to any money because of some technicality, like the fact that she was never recognized/ legally adopted.
However, I'm not sure that the main force driving her is money. I think it's power, social image, maybe a sense of being secure? She was raised in a family where her father had little say in what was going on around him, when Mateo started drinking she probably despised this weakness in him and then met Juan, who was the heir apparent, the reliable brother, the one everyone could count on. Now it's all about winning against Sara and being lady of the house, of course, but when the show started their relationship seemed boringly appropriate, something that doesn't keep you up at night, but is easy and comfortable.

Good analysis.

I have always thought that Juan looked better on paper to her, especially because he became CEO of the company but their relationship was a very tepid tea. Juli also isn't a great beauty so the sight of Sara freaked her out from the outset.

As for whether she is Severiano's daughter or not that would need to be proven. Since he was crated, how could that be proven?

Inheritance law is complicated in countries like Mexico and the US where it can vary by state. If Juli was never acknowledged by Severiano in his lifetime and there is no document signed by him that is yet to be found, this is unprovable unless they do a DNA comparison between her, Sara, Paloma, and Rosa's other daughters. That may or may not settle the issue of inheritance. You'd think it would in view of DNA being around for almost two decades. As Adam Schiff once said on an early Law & Order episode "I wish that science would leave some time for the law to catch up."

Oy; the above should say cremated.

Liz and Weirdo, that makes three of us who thought " yikes, the door is open" when Juan slid into bed with Sara in the dream .

As for Simon being stunned after the accident , I agree. If you have ever been in a bad car accident , you know how it feels to be in shock. I was thrown out of a car when I was 16.

When Corncob was alone drinking at the bar ( yeah, thanks for breaking that glass that someone else is going to have to sweep up, Loser) , and someone started pounding on the door, the last person I expected it to be was Brayan. I don't know much about waterboarding , but isn't hydrophobia when you can't stand water ? Poor gentle, dim Brayan and volatile , whiny Corndog make a strange pair. I wonder why Brayan went to the bar. Is Pedro's treatment of Brayan going to set Corny off against Pedro again.

" that makes three of us who thought " yikes, the door is open" when Juan slid into bed with Sara in the dream ."
Well I an your fourth because I was going "whaaaat?"
