Caray, Caray!

We are officially at the halfway mark.  YAY!

The recap for #43/44 will be up Saturday afternoon. It could be late Saturday afternoon. 

 #41

1. Pedro rightfully doubles down on the fact that Juli had nothing to do with Mateo's relapse. It is Pedro's alcoholism that he himself needs to deal with. 

2. Berta criticizes Jessica on the way she treats Brayan. Jessica and Brayan argue about that and his table manners with Berta.

3. Lucas explains to Simón all about his brother Amado. Simón "takes charge" and tells him to sit tight while he goes to see about it all especially since Deb was involved but stops first to  hug him.

4. Berta tells her sad tale of love. She was about to get married, or so she thought when her novio went MIA. It turns out that her "novio" made a  bet with his friends that he could win Berta's heart (sounds like Leticia Padilla Solís in LaFeaMB) and he succeeded. 

5. Sara volunteers to go with Pedro and Tadeo to buy him some clothes in the afternoon.

6. Pedro doesn't want Sara to misinterpret his actions. He was just trying to comfort her given the situation and wasn't trying to take advantage of the situation. He knows she isn't interested in any romance at the present time and agrees to accept that. 

7. A raging Cornelio comes by to see Bea to find out why she is no longer working at the fabric store,  and to criticize how she is dressed and her working for Sara. He accuses her of still wanting to be with Pedro, of "delivering" his son to that criminal Pedro.  She informs him  that she brought Tadeo to Pedro because of HIM and tells him to leave her house. Cornelio makes it clear that he as no respect of her and informs her that Pedro tried to have him killed.

8. Prospi  makes his entrance looking like his very fine Julián Gil self. Jessica thinks he looks really handsome and wonders if he is trying to impress his mother or "the other woman." He swears the affair is over and he wants to win back his wife's heart.

9. Simón wants to talk to Deb about Lucas.  He knows what kind of woman she is. Deb says that Amado himself came to tell her about being related to Lucas so she she trusts him. Simón wonders what Deb's angle is. She says Lucas is the only worthwhile brother in the bunch. He warns her to leave his brother alone because she doesn't know what he is capable of. She knows that he is capable of killing. He  says he never fails and that she should have had him killed when she had the chance. She says she isn't doing anything to him. He asks if she was the one who had Lucas attacked. She does remember something about him getting beat up. Simón tells her to be careful because he will finish off anyone who is a threat to his brothers. Deb just stares at him quizzically and nods. 

10. Sara asks Juan if things went okay with Mateo. Juan is feeling guilty over Mateo who called him a traitor  told him he was responsible for his situation  because he took the woman he loved away from him.  Sara tells him he is not guilty at all.  They hug. He feels she is so far away. She reminds him that the inheritance is the only thing that connects them.  Sara tells him that it was necessary to have Mateo hospitalized; there was no other way. Juan agrees that she had the strength that he didn't to do what was necessary for Mateo and he thanks her.

11. Modesto comes in with some tea for Lucas only to discover that he is GONE.  Where??

12. Cornelio  will make sure that Pedro pays for everything he has done and informs Bea that the house is up for sale. By the way,  her name is not on the deed (PSA to all wives: make sure your name is on the deed). He gets physical and  throws a bowl on the floor and starts throwing her around and  is just about to show her that he is "more of a man than Pedro" when the fact that she is having a panic attack and cannot breathe gets through his thick skull and he lets her up.   He blames her for having "provoked him".   She explains all she has been through just trying to provide a living for her and her son.  Does he want  to see her stoned and run out of town?? He is sure that Pedro wanted him dead and she was in on it. They will pay.

13. Deb makes it clear to Simón that she sent nobody to beat up Lucas but if it had been Simón she would have been so motivated to do it and remove him from the world of the living. Modesto tells them that Lucas is missing.  

14. The search is on for Lucas. 

15. Rosa tells Juli that Lucas is the brother of Amado.

16. Pedro and Tadeo play soccer. Juan joins in after telling Pedro that Mateo will be at the hospital for as long as it takes. Simón comes out to tell them that Lucas is missing and that he told him that Amado was his brother and he was going to go find his birth mother.  Simón will talk to Amado. Juan will make contact with Alondra. Deb has been observing it all and is enjoying the drama. 

17. Adela asks Sal if he could call his cousin in the USA and ask him if  Dulce if can stay a little longer with them. He agrees but cannot promise a thing. She tells him that she is also quitting working at the hacienda because of Pedro. Sal says no worries, because he talked to the market manager and can get her flower shop reinstated. She hugs him in gratitude. 

18. Sara comes to see Bea who tells her what happened. Sara insists that she go file a complaint against Simón. 

19. Berta is still crying when Prospi notices her in her room.  He says that he can relate after having overheard her story. In her grief, Berta looks for a hug from Prospi and he obliges. Of course, Rosa sees them and goes beserk. She thinks that Prospi changed his looks for Berta. She fires Berta. The drama continues. Rosa refuses to listen to anyone. Blah Blah Blah!

20. Sal makes clear that Adela is wonderful and deserves to have her shop back and  he is going to manage to win her heart some day. Adela is more than  surprised.

21. Deb explains to Pedro that she hasn't gotten the expected return on her money in an investment with the Millán's. He suggests she ask the "serape king" (Prospi) or find another "patron". Deb has decided that Pedro is going to be her patron if he ever wants to get close to Sara. He asks if she really wants to play a blackmail game with him? She is risking a lot. Deb says she is merely reminding him of the offer she made of giving him Sara on a silver platter before, now it is a golden platter.  He finally asks how much  she wants. Dante enters as Deb is thinking of an amount. 

22. Sal blames Lucas fleeing the hacienda on Severiano and the way he raised his adopted sons. Adela and Modesto disagree. Sal insists that Severiano is reaping what he sowed. Agustín thinks that Juan is surrounded by the worst brothers ever. He will not back down and has something to tell them. Simón was the murderer of his own father. That is news to Sal and Modesto.

23. Dante and Deb end up in a barn where he wants to know what she was taking about with Pedro. She explains that she was telling Pedro how she could put Sara on a silver platter for him when he is ready to cooperate with her. Dante has good news for Deb: Lucas is the first one to lose his inheritance. 

24. Agustín insists he is telling nothing but the truth. Adela blames it on his blood sugar being high. Agustín refuses Adela's excuse. Modesto tells Agustín that his accusation could cause hard feelings between them. 

25. Juli comes back to the hacienda with the DNA test, looks at it, sees Pedro watching her and hightails it to her room.

26. Juan tracks down Lucas to the park. Juan feels responsible for wha happened to him. They will find out who did this to him. Lucas says Juan is not responsible and that he has  no idea of what was done to him. Lucas tells him he is not coming back to the hacienda. He does not care about the inheritance. He is going to find his birth mother. She needs him. 

27. Sara goes to the cantina with Bea. She sees Cornelio and tells him what she thinks of him. Bea gives him a piece of her mind, too. Sara approaches Cornelio and he literally pushes Sara away.  She would have landed on the floor if Simón had not caught her.

28. Juan has a flashback of old Severiano telling him to be the leader of and to protect his brothers with love as he always has since they were children. Family is the most important thing there is. 

29. Juli hands Juan the DNA test results and tells him  that he is the father of her baby. 

30. Cornelio blames Sara for what happened. She provoked him.  He was defending himself. Simón asks Sara to not to file charges against Cornelio for Modesto's sake.  Sara explains  that she and Bea are going to the police station and charges  will be filed just as she should have filed them against him. Simón tells her that Lucas ran away. 

31. Juan is less than enthused with the DNA test results.  Juli knows he never thought the baby was his. She lies and says that she never was with Mateo. She now wants a family with him. 

32. Sara thanks Simón for telling her about Lucas. Paloma is impressed with Simón for the way she saved Sara from hitting the  floor. He says he is no monster and that Sara got Mateo into rehab. That means something. Sara leaves with Bea. Cornelio just drinks. Simón wants to talk to Amado.

33. As Juli starts pressing for marriage again, Juan has to go through the whole song and dance about how their relationship changed when he met Sara and felt something different. She insists that Sara doesn't love him but she and Juan can build a family for their son's sake. He doesn't want to talk about marriage now. She finally accepts what  he has been willing to offer their child  all along.

#42 

 The dysfunction continues . . . 

1. Dante and Deb are kissing and getting frisky  in the barn. Dante explains that he has his ducks in a row to disqualify Lucas from his inheritance. As for Mateo, Deb thinks that he will fall on  his own. Who is particularly vexing to her is Simón. Dante tells her that she should confronted that subject when she had the chance.  She asks just like he did when he killed Henry??? Tadeo pokes his head in and asks if they have seen his father.  

2. Mateo is having a hard time detoxing in rehab. (Recapper break of almost two whole minutes!!!)

3. Deb tells Tadeo that his father is not there. Tadeo isn't too sure about Deb when she calls him "encuerado"(naked). He explains that he is wearing his father's shirt. She goes to touch his hair and he instinctively jumps backwards. She promises him lots of candy if he behaves himself. He shakes his head and runs out of the barn. Dante is worried about what Tadeo heard. Deb asks who is going to believe him. 

4. Alondra is desperate to find Lucas who has not been in contact since last night and never showed  at their date. Juli tells her that Lucas left the hacienda. Alondra decides she has  to find him. Juli chases after her. Alondra know that something isn't right. Juli hugs her and brings her back. 

5. In the presence of Paloma who reminds him of his legal liabilities, Amado tells Simón that he told Lucas they were brothers but never forced him to give  him anything.  Amado explains that Lucas went to help their mother who needs a kidney transplant. Lucas could donate  a kidney to her if he is compatible and if not maybe direct them where she could find a donor. Pedro arrives and Simón fills him in. Pedro gets violent with Amado and demands to know where his family lives.

6. Juan tells Dante that he found Lucas and agrees to meet him at the hacienda. A troubled Juan thinks back on Juli showing him the results of the DNA test. He concludes that he cannot abandon his child. 

7. Sara and Bea arrive at the police station. Bea is worried about what Cornelio could do afterwards if she files charges. Sara says they have to do it for themselves  and all women.  (YES!) The police official will help them. Sara tries calling Lucas but there is no answer. 

8. Simón has to pull Pedro off of Amado. Amado tells them that his mother lives in San Luis Potosí.  Simón thinks that they need to talk to Juan first and see if Lucas came back or if he knows anything else. Pedro finds out about Bea and Sara going to the police because of  Cornelio. Cornelio attacked Sara.  Pedro goes over to give Cornelio a piece of his mind. Cornelio asks if he is going to have him killed? Pedro says being killed should be the least of his worries. 

9. Dante asks Juan if Lucas is gone. Yes, he is! Dante says that Lucas has lost his part of the inheritance. Juan says that is the last thing his father would have wanted but Lucas was acting very strangely.  Juan did what he could but even losing his part of the inheritance could not convince him to return. Dante expresses his regrets but he has to follow what is in the will. Dante explains it is a different with Mateo because he has an illness that is preventing him form being at the hacienda but if he were to relapse again,  he would lose his part of the inheritance, too. 

10. Bea talks to the police officer and has filed a charge of sexual assault. Pedro arrives and  see how Sara is. He asks if Cornelio did anything to Bea. Bea says it is not his concern.  Sara decides to got to the hacienda to talk to Juan about Lucas. She will be back ASAP and Pedro will stay with her. Pedro tells Bea that this time NOBODY will save Cornelio from going to jail. 

11. Modesto goes looking for Tadeo playing outside with his soccer ball. Tadeo has something to tell Modesto and whispers it in his ear. 

12. Juan feels so bad not being able to maintain the family unity that his father so wanted. Dante explains that he can only do so much because they are all adults now and will make their own decisions. Juan feels it all slipping away. Dante tries to get him to see he has to accept things as they are. 

13. Juan updates Sara on the Lucas situation. She is upset he didn't do more to make him stay. They are family. Juan explains that his brothers are adults and he cannot tie them up to get them to do what he wants. Juan insists that they have to respect Lucas' decision. Nope, he didn't even care about his portion of the inheritance.  She insists she's going to find Lucas. Juan grabs her arms and says she isn't. 

14. Rosa is still running Berta out of her house. She wants her old Prospi back even if it is with a fake mustache. He tells her that the new Prospi is here to stay. Prospi and Berta try to talk sense to Rosa again. Jessica gets her father on the side  and wants him to tell Rosa the truth. He thinks that would be the end of the family. **Berta makes a point to Rosa of saying that she is a woman of dignity who doesn't have the necessity of becoming anyone's lover, let alone a lover  of a married man. Finally, Prospi tells Rosa that he has a lover. Rosa won't accept what is most assuredly a lie to protect Berta. Rosa calls Berta a gold digger. Berta tells her that if that is the case, Rosa is a sinner herself and shouldn't throw the first stone. Berta finally leaves.

15. Modesto tells Tadeo that he shouldn't go around saying things like he told hm because he is still little kid. He wouldn't want to be know as a gossip. Tadeo says he saw them kissing. Deb appears asking what the "little naked boy" is telling Modesto. Deb addresses the gossip straight on saying that they were hugging because Dante is her lawyer and also her friend. 

16. Sara tells Juan not to touch her again. Juan tells her to not get involved. She tries to explain that Lucas is the only brother who supported her she she arrived. She won't give  up on him to make sure he gets his part of the inheritance. She has this feeling that Lucas is running away from some kind of danger. Deb and Dante listen from the hallway. She insists she is going to find him. Juan grabs her again and says she better not dare or he will have to lock her up. 

17. Nobody in Prospi's household is happy with Berta's firing except for Rosa. 

18. The police go to arrest Cornelio. He has an explanation for everything but he will not be talking until he gets to the police station. He tells Sal to tell Modesto not to worry but his father never did worry about him anyway, he just worried about the Del Monte boys. 

19. Sara breaks away from Juan not being able to believe that he just threatened her with locking her up. Is he that backward? Juan tries to explain that if she wants to go looking fro Lucas, he will go with her. None of them are out of danger. They might have stalked Lucas but he is not the main target. She asks who is then?

20. Deb cannot believe what she heard Juan say about holding Sara prisoner. He is just like Severiano.  Dante says that she needs to talk Sara into not going after Lucas. Deb is sure that Juan will do that. She is going to the cantina for a little tequila.Dante warns her to not do too much talking. She knows what she is doing and is so proud of her Sara who is like she should have been from the beginning. Sara is like a lioness ready to leave those adopted sons out in the street!

21. Juan says they are mainly after him so they all need to be careful. She gets it but also wants to know everything about Lucas so she is more able to help him. She tells him that she filed a complaint against Cornelio. He tried to rape Bea and then he . . . (Juan never hears why Sara was going  to file a complaint) Juan cuts her off and says she has his full support. If she needs lawyer, he will make sure that Dante takes care of it. Sara thanks him.

22. Rosa now has Brayan making tea for her and Juli. Juli tells Rosa the DNA test results. She is Juan's future wifey.

23. Bea tells Pedro she has to stay at the police station to file charges and make sure that  her bruised wrists are put into evidence. Pedro is in favor of Cornelio being in jail. He is a danger to her and to their son. He tells her that Tadeo is doing well like the little king he is. Pedro didn't take him to his therapy because now that he is with him, Tadeo doses't need any. When he has full custody,  Tadeo will only know pure happiness.They start arguing about custody. Cornelio arrives.

24. Paloma is lecturing Simón that there is NOTHING that can justify Cornelio's aggressive behavior. Simón says their wedding will be in a week or two. He wants to wait until Mateo is out of rehab. He also prays to God that Lucas comes back soon. 

25. Alondra is broken up about Lucas having left and talks to Jessica. Jessica tells her no matter what happens with their parents she and Alondra will always stay united. They decide not to ask about their parents so they do not argue. The sisters hug. 

26. Prospi's women friends in town like his new look but he still wonders why he bothered to change. What happened to his life and what will it become? Adela sees him and calls out to him. She give him the good news. She is getting her shop back and they will be neighbors again. He likes that. She also tells him how good he looks and Rosa should be proud to have a hubby that looks like him. She notices that he is feeling bad. He says he feels like he isn't good for anything. He used to feel  successful but not any more. 

27. Juan tells Modesto that Juli's baby is his.Modesto asks if Juan is going to marry Juli. There is no answer.

28. Berta ends up at the cantina to talk  of her woes. She wants a double if not a triple tequila. She is in pain.(adolorida--just like the name of the cantina) They fired her when she was giving her whole life to change that family. Rosa thought that she and Prospi were doing you know what. . .  Deb arrives. Simón decides to leave. Sal decides he needs to talk to Simón. Sal tells him that he knows that he killed his father.

29. Prospi thanks Adela for listening to him talk about his problems. She feels honored that he trusts her. He ends up confessing that he had a lover and it was Deb. 

30. At the police station, Pedro finds out that Corelio is going to sell Bea's house. he put in his name. Sara arrives. 

31. The police officer talks to Bea and Sara. Cornelio identifies Sara as the woman who assaulted him. He wants an order of protection  against her. 

32. Juan tells Modesto that he doesn't know what to do about Juli. He talks excitedly about how fulfilling it will be to be a father. Modesto gets emotional saying fatherhood has been the greatest gift but has also been the greatest pain in his life. Juan tells him that Cornelio tried to assault Bea. Modesto doesn't get how his son went so wrong. Juan tells him isn't responsible for anything that Cornelio does. He has been a god father no matter what. Modesto decides that he has to go to see Cornelio.  

33. Sal tells Simón that Agustín told him. Simón sees what he said as defamation which is a crime. Paloma agrees. Agustín must have been confused. Sal concludes that Paloma and Simón already knew what Agustín said and Paloma agrees. Simón insists that Agustín could not have seen anything at all because it  happened so fast. Simón could have ended up dead himself. Sal doesn't believe him. His daughter will not be marrying a murderer. 

34. Sara doesn't get it when Simón assaulted his ex and pushed her. The police officer says there was no real evidence of any kind abuse against Bea. Bea only had only some superficial bruises. Sara cannot believe it. Pedro says the officer is committing an injustice. Sara says abusers like Simón should end up in jail where they belong. Cornelio gets his order of protection against Sara

35. Paloma insists that Simón is no murderer and they will be getting married no matter what.  Simón blathers on about being respected. Sal doesn't care. There will be no wedding that he does not support. Paloma begs him. Sal will not be moved. 

36. Sara says this is why so many women do not file charges because they end up being judged and their attackers go free. The officer warns Sara about what she is saying and continues saying since Bea's bruises were so minor . . . Sara asks him if it would have been better for Bea to be bloodied and dead? Cornelio said he never he intended on raping her. He had no need. Bea gets hysterical and asks him why did he then  . . The police officer cuts hereof saying that the restraining order also applies to him in reference to Bea. Sara cannot believe that  all of this is happening. There is no justice. The officer informs her that justice is blind. Without evidence it is a he said/she said. Cornelio will not be charged. 

37. On his way out to go see about his son, Modesto cannot help himself and has to tell Juan what he heard that morning: Simón killed their father Severiano.
