Well, I thought I was caught up, but I found tonight's episode somewhat confusing. I have two questions:
1) The DNA report that the doctor reads says that there's a 99.8% match between the hair and the corpse of Cicek. Isn't there always a match between the DNA in someone's hair and that person's body? Why does it mention the corpse of Cicek, since Cicek is alive? Is the report that the doctor is reading from a faked report that she has arranged? If so, is she crying not for Cicek but because the dead person is really her daughter, Simal?
2) At the end, Celebi and Izkender are talking about the fire. Izkender says there were historical objects that were lost. Huh? What are "historical objects"? Were these objects supposed to be destroyed, but in a fire that was supposed to occur after everyone had left? The fire was supposed to happen after everyone had left, but was the point of the planned fire the destruction of the historical objects? Celebi says that Izkender lost all his assets. Is he talking about the objects or about something else? Izkander does say that the unexpected fire that broke out in the kitchen activated the system that Izkender and others had set up. That explains why everyone was still present and so many people died, but I still don't understand what Iskander and Kenan (Ruya's father?) were trying to accomplish.
Perhaps the answer to the second question has not yet been revealed?
What does seem to be clear is that Celebi wants to find someone to blame, and that someone is Omer. But apparently Celebi's intention is not just to blame Omer but to get rid of him--permanently. Izkender, who is jealous as well as evil, says he'll be happy to put an end to Omer.
Juanita, your comment beat me to the punch. Not sure I can answer your questions, but I think perhaps Iskander was planning to get some $ from claiming he'd lost things in the fire. And, yes, Toomris has faked a DNA report, but she's still crying over her lost daughter. And perhaps also crying for what she's done to Ali. Below is what I wrote before I saw your comment.
I don’t know if I can hang with this one. That Celebi guy and his brother Iskender are too evil. I am sort of picking up a trend with dizis. Haven’t seen many. But they seem to start with everything black and awful and we wade through a lot of this before any bad guys even get close to a comeuppance. I’ll put something up in case anyone wants to discuss.
Omer rescues Ruya from the reporters and a woman who blames Ruya for her daughter’s death. Ruya spends some time on the po’ side of town and seems to enjoy it.
Iskender comes to see Simal (really Cecek) and is told by Tomris that she’s too delicate. Something is said about their being best friends. Cecek is in the hospital for some sort of treatment.
They scare us with Celebi following Cemre, but she’s put her phone in a random pickup truck.
Tomris fakes a DNA test for Cecek and finishes breaking Ali’s heart.
Omer tells Ruya that Cemre is alive and puts some doubt in her mind about Celebi. He shows the scars from a beating the boy got from Celebi’s chauffeur.
While Ruya is driving back from the lunch with Omer, she remembers visiting Cemre (her cousin) in the hospital. Cemre has been accused of trying to kill herself. She swears she didn’t do it; that Celebi put something in her food. Talk about gaslighting. Celebi is one sick puppy.
Ozan is suspecting something “off” about that fire and the exploding tanks.
Celebi grills is slimy brother, Iskander. Turns out Iskander had something to do with causing the explosion. It was supposed to happen when everyone left and some guy named Kenan and Iskender would somehow benefit. Celebi gets that ghastly look on his face and decides they’ll blame the fire on Omer.
Nothing useful is found in Mystery Guy’s belongings.
Volkan keeps shining Derin on. I’ve noticed a couple of times that little Zeynep likes the Volkan actor much more than the Derin actor.
Bajar confesses that Gonul is a real pain as a SIL. Bahar stands up and gets dizzy. Yep. It means the same thing as it does in telenovelas. Guess Mert was shooting blanks.
The cops tell MG that the number on the chassis on the car he crashed in belongs to another car. The guy is quite worried about this.
The guy who’s been tailing MG shows up to have a meeting with Derya, pretending to be some medical supplies guy.
Gonul tells Volkan she bought his house. Derin and Haluk don’t need to know. In order for her not to out him to Haluk, he must give her back the money he got from the sale. And make Derin happy. And help her recover.
Haluk finds out Gonul took 5 million lira. I wonder if the Haluk actor did have COVID or something else. He looks a lot slimmer lately.
Asya gives MG a phone.
Haluk tears into Gonul. She confesses she did it. Then she blows up, more or less saying she had the right to do it. And she packs and leaves.
Bahar is having a lovely baby announcement dinner with Melih when Gonul bangs on the door and says she’s come to stay.
Volkan brings Derin and Demir to dinner at Selcuk’s restaurant. Asya also shows up with Derya. Derin’s face almost cracks with the fake smile.
Asya takes MG to the scene of the accident. He remembers an angry phone call with someone and throwing his phone out the window. But they don’t find it. The guy who’s spying on him has followed them there. The same guy follows them to Asya’s house. He’s lurking outside when Volkan arrives and honks his horn. [I think I was mistaken about Volkan trying to buy Asya's house. It now looks like Asya is living in the same house. They've just made a few changes in the artwork.]
Volkan goes out to the garden and starts asking MG some questions, trying to look pleasant.
Thanks so much for the recap novelera. I really enjoyed the escape Omer provided Ruya in his part of town. It is clear the neighborhood residents really likes him a lot. I thought it was cute to see the kids teasing him about his “novia.” I also enjoyed the time Cemre was able to spend with her daughter especially after tossing that phone in the truck and putting her beyond abusive husband on a wild goose chase.
Juanita, count me in being confused about what Celebi and his horrible brother Iskender were talking about regarding the reason for the fire and what the younger brother was trying to hide. I am just glad Ruya is sticking to what she saw regardless of what everyone else is trying to do to dissuade her.
I am impressed that both of you have all the names down! It takes me several weeks to get those names clear. I understand this is a relatively short dizi that hopefully takes us to the start of La Reina de Sur 3 right?
Thanks again for the highlights and comments!
Novelera, you are doing an incredible job recapping these shows. I am only surfing in and out , but I read the recaps.
That darkhaired guy from Madre really gets around . He has popped up in both of these shows . I am not sure if he is a good guy or a bad guy. I did catch the scene of Aysa driving him to the scene of the accident and watched him flashing back to him throwing his cellphone out the window ..WTH?!! ..and then yelling at the weeds while looking for it . Does he have amnesia?
Susanlynn, the guy I've been referring to as MG (Mystery Guy) does have amnesia. He has some sort of troubled back story. Asya is on his team because he saved her, Nil, and Ali when he seemed to purposefully cause his car to jump over Asya's car, injuring himself. His brakes had failed. If he had not done that heroic deed, his car would have hit Asya's car at high speed and directly on one side (forget which one). He knows something (but can't remember it) because some people were trying to get rid of him by cutting the brake lines. And some guy is hanging around, likely to try putting a stop to him when he does remember things.
Mehli apparently is now living with Bahar in the house next door to Asya. Derin has arrived, in her wheelchair, to see her petulant mother, who's moved in on Mehli and Bahar. She sees Volkan’s car outside Asya’s, sends the driver away on a pretext, and is standing on tiptoe outside the fence to the back garden. Mehli has come outside and sees her. He calls her on her phone, she jumps, and pretends to have been in the chair the whole time. She insists on barging into Asya’s house. Before Mehli comes out, she recognizes MG and says his name: Aras. We see she met him in London, but we don’t know why.
The sneaky guy who’s on Aras’ trail gets some news about an amnesiac patient from Derya.
Aras asks Asya why she got divorced. “He deceived me.” Aras' partial memories seem to torture him, causing him physical pain. He remembers being at an amusement park.
The next day Mehli tells Gonul about Derin. She’s ready to confront her, but Mehli says they have to play it careful. He’s indignant, saying her lies already cost him his job. And now she’s lying again.
Derin, for some reason, seems very interested in one Mehmet and one Leyla that they knew in London. It seems to have something to do with Aras.
There’s a computer problem at the hospital, getting everyone worked up.
Aras is walking in the street with Asya and remembers his name because of a memory of being a child and writing it in the steam on a window. They embrace. Asya: Mucho gusto, Aras!
Gonul plays Derin well, hinting that men like strong women and, especially now that Asya is back in Tekirdag, maybe she might want to go back to physical therapy.
The evil guy spying on Aras is in Derya’s office when some person comes in and mentions Aras’ name. Derya says that, yes, the amnesia patient remembered his name. The guy looks worried and then puts on a smarmy smile for Derya.
Aras overhears some IT guys in the lobby using terms he knows well.
Derin begins physical therapy with a young woman she has known since childhood. The woman promises to keep what happens confidential.
Volkan gets a phone call about a fire that burned down some land that then be came available for construction. Haluk owns a lot of this land. Looks like Volkan may have a weapon.
Asya thinks Aras has been booted out of the hospital with nowhere to go. Instead he’s restored the hospital’s computer system and gets a round of applause. He’ll get to stay in a guest house the hospital has available for some patients.
Thank you for explaining this episode. Hmmm...The mystery man is slowly putting the pieces together .
I've decided not to write any more mini-caps for El Fuego del Destino. It's been too much like watching the wreckage of a plane crash on TV and feeling very sad. They keep jerking us around that Cemre will be found by the truly awful Celebi.
There was one moment last night that made sense. Ruya is trying to come to terms with the fact that her cousin may have been living a nightmare for so many years. She's speaking, IIRC, with a mental health expert who tells her that the sort of person who would be that controlling (cruel) to a partner is someone who feels so small and insignificant that controlling someone else is the only way to feel good about themselves.
And his crappy brother turns out to have conspired with Ruya's father to start the fire. The plan is now to frame Omer for setting it.
So...not a recap, just a bit of indignation. I may keep watching, but I can't write the awfulness every day.
Thanks, novelera, for trying to keep the conversation flowing on this one. I don't blame you for not wanting to recap this. Ruya's story is interesting. ITA about Cemre's story. But Cicek's storyline is a waking nightmare. It's torture to watch. I also think they will chop the heck out of this if they have to finish before Oct 18.
Thank you, novelera.
So happy that Melih found out about Derin. Can't wait for her to be outed to everyone.
Derin seemed a little freaked about Aras. We saw brief flashbacks of them in London at a group dinner. She tried to talk her father into a family trip to London and she was also trying to make contact with Leyla. No clue who Mehmet could be.
I guess that Aras and Asya will eventually become an item and Volkan will go crazy.
Dondi, Well, I vote for Volkano going crazy with jealousy over Aras. This new guy scene pretty interesting . I am hoping he is a good guy . I like good guys in dizis as well as in real life. Good guys should not finish last.
miércoles
Aras likes the guest house. Asya is helping him get it organized.
Bahar overhears Mehli and Gonul talking about Derin being able to walk. She's pretty angry with him.
Aras likes photography and is using the phone she gave him to take pictures. Why the hell is Volkan lurking around that house? He watches them through the gate as they look at the photos on the phone and seem very comfortable together. Aras tells her how beautiful she is and then kisses her. Asya gets nervous about how quickly this all has happened and rushes off.
Volkan cries. Then he gets drunk. Selcuk rescues Volkan on the beach. When he brings him home, not even able to stand, he blubbers to Derin that Asya kissed that guy. Derin comforts him, and then we see a big smile.
Derin is all smiles at the PT session. She thinks she'll make quick progress.
Bahar tells Asya about Derin being able to walk. Bahar wants to tell Volkan because he's her friend.
Lunatic Volkan braces Aras in the street. He tells him to stay away from his wife. Aras reminds him she's his ex. After some angry words, Volkan hits Aras. Big mistake. Aras gives him quite the beatdown. [Boy that was fun! I watched it twice!]
Volkan pretends to want emergency services and, of course, Asya sees him there and treats his cuts herself. But she doesn't buy his tale of Aras being the aggressor.
That sneaky guy turns my stomach the way he smiles at Derya.
Kadir, or whatever his name is, offers Aras a job coding.
Aras comes to see Asya and, unlike Volkan, doesn't make a big deal out of the fight. He then tells her he doesn't know what was in his past, but his feelings for her are real.
Volkan is worse than bedbugs. He's shown up again at Asya's house supposedly to be with Ali. Ali tells him that Aras is a champ at video gaming. When Asya comes home, he announces to the two of them that he's divorcing Derin and renting a house near where Asya and Ali live. Aras calls and Volkan yells something about making coffee so that Aras can hear him. Asya tells Volkan to leave.
Asya and Aras go to an old house to see if that key that was in his things works there. He again professes his feelings for her.
Novelera
Thank you for the recap.
Mystery Nan Aras is interesting. I am trying to separate this actor from the awful villain he played in " Madre."I am enjoying him pushing all petulant Volkano's buttons. Volkcan is learning that when you put something down, someone else may come along, Find it, appreciate it, and pick it up. Volcan and Derin deserve each other. She is fixated on him , while he is now fixated on his ex . sorrynot sorry. Day late and a dollar short as they say . These people just keep spinning their wheels.
Gracias, novelera for the recap! Your statement, "Volkan is worse than bedbugs. He's shown up again at Asya's house" is priceless! He is just that and pitiful, too.
The mystery of Aras is entertaining enough to keep me watching. Volkan is getting on my nerves with his obsession with Asya. Did he lose all his clients? Or did he never have any really? He needs a job to keep him busy.
Time for Derin to get caught walking by Volkan before she finishes physical therapy and claims that made her well. I so want her and Gonul to get their well deserved comeuppance soon.
