La herencia, #65, Monday "Regrets of a father"

Brandon and Dulce talk about Sal being a cool guy. Dulce misses her family, but she also misses Brandon when she’s away.

Sara asks Adela to take her stuff and her mom’s stuff to the truck. Tears in her eyes, she remembers the day she first got to Santa Catalina, her first ride with Juan and how she fell from her horse. Pedro comes running down the stairs to beg her not to leave. Sara repeats that she cares deeply about him, but not the way he’d like. Lucas, that meddler, once again shows up to interrupt Pedro’s special moment with Sara, by asking her where she plans to go. Sara explains she’s going back to her apartment in Mexico. The hospital calls to let her know Deb is awake. Sara is very happy, hugs Lucas, even Pedro pretends to be happy to get his hug. Sara runs to the hospital, Lucas goes to tell Juan and Pedro sends a message to someone telling them to “send it”.

Send what, you might ask. The message was for Julieta, who is at the stables, with the untamed horse. She puts some green thingy under its saddle.

Lucas comes to tell Juan that Sara is leaving. Dante says this means another heredero is out of the house and Simon adds that the charities will be happy about this. Lucas ads that Deb is awake and Sara left for the hospital. Juan is glad to hear it and Mateo (!) urges him to go be with her, she loves him, not Pedro. Lucas agrees, he should be the one to take her to the hospital. Simon just rolls his eyes at the whole thing. Don’t worry, buddy, we dislike watching you just as much as you dislike watching them.

Pedro and Juan quarrel briefly, then Juan goes to find Sara. Lucas and Mateo get into another discussion with Pedro, Simon has to separate them. Paloma comes running, saying Modesto is feeling very bad.

The horse has somehow gotten outside of the stable and is running away, free… Sara is getting out of the ranch, head in her phone, distracted by everything that is happening, while I’m distracted by that toddler’s undershirt she’s wearing. We’re down to 10 °C around here, just looking at her, I freeze, I hope her baby is not cold in her belly. Pedro is following Sara, looks over at Julieta, who is hidden behind a wall, comes closer to Sara. The horse appears out of thin air, and its timing would be perfect (go figure!), but Juan is there, also, in time to push Sara away and leave her unharmed. Juan says he’s happy they are “both OK”, caressing her belly, Pedro looks at them dissatisfied, but then has a hallucination of Aurora, looking and pointing at him. He shakes it off, just to stare at Juan and Sara who are hugging. Julieta is not happy, either.

Modesto is having a fever, Simon and Mateo think they should see a doctor again. Modesto calls for Pedro’s name.

Pedro accuses Bryan, the man who hasn’t been around for days, of the horse’s escape. Lucas has managed to control the animal, Juan wonders where all the ranch hands are!! Pedro promises someone will pay for this! Juan insists to take Sara to the hospital to see Deb, even as she’d rather go alone. Pedro thinks he shouldn’t insists, then Lucas says Modesto is feeling bad again. Cornelio arrives just then to find out that his dad is sick.

Alone in the study, Dante is fighting with Sev’s painting! He throws a trinket at the frame, says he should have never brought Sara to this rats nest!

Prospi and Bryan talk about Jess being very stubborn. Prospi’s advice for Bryan is to stay strong, not cave. Bryan is surprised they would want him to be with Jess, but Prospi appreciates him very much. Bryan would like Rosa to see him the same, Prospi admits that her behavior is partly his fault. He never stopped her from raising her daughters telling them they will be the queens at Santa Catalina, that’s why they look so much like Rosa. But he’s worried about Jess the most, she was always the most spoiled of the girls. Bryan is afraid she will never change, Prospi thinks that she will as soon as she realizes Bryan’s true value. But don’t allow her to disrespect you!

Pedro comes back into the house just as Dante is getting out of the study. He tells him Deb is awake and Dante leaves, just as Sal arrives. Adela asks him what is going on.

Cornelio wants to take his father away, but Juan and Mateo think he’s feeling too bad to be moved, especially since the doctor is on his way. Simon can’t understand why Modesto is sick again, since his gun wound is practically cured. Pedro arrives and Modesto stares at him is fear, while Cornelio insists he will take him away. Juan finally agrees.

Alondra and Julieta talk about the horse, Juli pretends not to know about it. When Alondra asks about Lucas, Juli says he’s probably with Sara, he hasn’t even done his job at the ranch in a while, he spends the entire time at the company, probably to be close to Sara. Alondra is not happy to hear this.

Brandon arrives with Dulce at the Bar.

Sal and Cornelio plan to take good care of Modesto, who can only tell Juan that he loves him a lot but he needs to go. “Take care and hope your brother doesn’t kill you.” No, he doesn’t say that, but don’t you wish he did? Before leaving, Modesto asks about Sara, Juan fill him in that she’s with Deb. Pedro offers to drive them, but both Corni and Sal refuse. Pedro tells Juan he’s going with Sara at the hospital. Juan asks Pedro to help him gather all the ranch hands, he’d like to talk to them, but Pedro asks him to do it himself. And forget about Bryan, he never wants to see him again.

Mateo and Julieta Baby talk on the phone. She has been investigating the lab Julieta had the DNA test done and she now has the contact info. Mateo noticed Pedro got a call from Julieta earlier, it couldn’t have been the company. Juli Baby thinks they should wait and see what the lab is saying.

Sara is on her mother’s bed, hugging her. The doctor said she can recover at home, Deb can’t wait to get back to the ranch, she’ll turn Modesto into her personal servant? Aaah, news flash: they will no longer live at the ranch, but more on that later! Who could have sent you the wine?

Deb can’t remember, the doctor says it’s a consequence of her coma, she will start remembering things little by little, even if in puzzle form. Deb gets a sudden stomach ache. Ay!

Later Deb is asleep, when Dante arrives to ask about the horse. Sara assures him she’s doing OK, Dante clumsily gives her a side hug, which is made even more awkward in my eyes by the fact that Sara is barely dressed in her toddler top. She has to go for now, Deb has been sedated, Dante offers to stay with her.

Rosa comes to search for Prospi at the bar, but he’s gone. Brandon asks Rosa if she plans to get married here, but it’s not decided yet. Rosa tries talking to Dulce, but can’t understand her English. Obvio!

Corni and Sal arrive with Modesto, who still looks like he’s just seen a ghost… I mean, seen a person before becoming a ghost. He wants to talk to Bertha in private. He tells her he didn’t feel well staying at the ranch anymore, Bertha understands and promises to support him. Modesto accept her marriage proposal. Bertha is so happy, she announces the good news out loud to everyone present at Sal’s bar, against Modesto’s wish. Sal is shocked, Bryan looks happy, everyone claps. Then Bertha tells Modesto that she’d stopped believing in love a long time ago. Modesto promises with him it will be different. Corni comes at their table to ask what is going on, he’s happy with the news and the fact that his father is doing much better. Being in Santa Catalina under the same roof as Pedro is what was causing him all his pain.

Juan is scolding the workers, nobody was around to realize the horse had gotten lose. And saddled, none the less. Patrocinio explains Bryan told them to saddle the horse every day because they need to tame it, and they were all gone because they had to go buy some bales of hay. Juan doesn’t understand the urgency, they have enough hay, who gave this order? Patrocinio reluctantly admits it was Julieta. She arrives just then with Alondra. She is worried about Juan, she heard about the horse, she was out for a walk, her morning sickness is getting the best of her, poor thing. Juan calls her an irresponsible for ordering the ranchers to go buy some hay.

Julieta says she only asked them to work, ever since Bryan left they’ve been lazing around. And now, because of one of them Senorita Sara almost got hurt, whoever is guilty will be fired. The ranch hands try to protest, Juan says he will talk to Bryan. Julieta pretends to be worried about Sara, Juan tells her Sara left the ranch and gave up on the inheritance.

Dante is telling a sleeping Deb that he’s to blame for everything that is going on, he should have never allowed her to manipulate him like this. Her thirst for money took them both too far, lying to Severiano was the worst. Sara deserved to be a happy child, instead he allowed her to suffer so much because of the Del Monte family. He regrets so much having allowed this to happen, “their” daughter should have never had to go through any of this.

As the Patio collectively nods, because we’ve seen this coming a mile away, there is someone who takes this news as a shock: Pedro, who has been eavesdropping on Dante’s monologue. He slowly leaves and runs into Sara in the hallway. He is very evasive with her, she tells him she’s going to see her mom one last time and talk to Dante about helping them move into the apartment. Then they can go back to work together. When Sara goes, Pedro thought bubbles that Sara is not a Del Monte, the malditos wanted to fool them all.

Dante agrees to take care of Deb and Sara, he will also support her in her quest to give up her inheritance. When he finds out Pedro is around, too, he leaves immediately, but Pedro is no longer in the hallway. He tells Sara he’s gone, she’s surprised he wouldn’t wait for her. Dante looks worried, I think he realizes he might have just made a mistake that will change the rules of the game.

Juan and Julieta tell Mateo what happened with the horse and Sara. Juli blames the workers, says Bryan is fired. Juan would like to talk to him first, Juli insists that Sara could have been killed, pobrecita. Yeah, they are not friends, but she can’t wish her harm. Mateo asks about the horse, did it get away on its own or did someone free him? Juan looks suspiciously at Julieta, but doesn’t think someone could have done this on purpose. Juli wonders if it was Simon, Juan resents this, the workers were to blame. He asks Mateo to go to work together, but Mateo has a therapy session with Lucas and Julieta Baby.

Alondra arrives with Rosa, who laments the danger that her daughter has been through, she could have lost her bebe. Juan should really consider taking Julieta on a trip, maybe to Beethoven’s country, to have Severianito listen to some classical music. Mateo decides to ignore such idiocy, goes to search for Lucas instead and Juan does the same, going to the company. Alone with her daughters, Rosa finds out that Sara is leaving the ranch.

Pedro is upset, he thinks Sara was aware of the lie, too. He hallucinates his mother next to him in the car, but then sees real Sara by his window. She gets in the car with him, while he gives her a killer look.

Corni wants to take care of his father from now on. Modesto apologizes for having been so distant recently. Corni still feels the shock of having seen his father wounded in the Santa Catalina attack, but Modesto doesn’t want to talk about it for now, only wants to rest. Juan arrives and asks to talk to Modesto.

Lucas starts his therapy with Julieta Baby, without Alondra, who couldn’t make it apparently (she must be with her mom and sister, pouting about whatever). Mateo arrives, too, Lucas doesn’t mind if his brother is present for his therapy. But Mateo would rather give him some privacy. Julieta Baby asks Lucas if he tried to make love to Alondra again. Lucas says that they tried and “everything” works just fine, but he just can’t do it, because he remembers what happened. Alondra is very understanding about it, but recently she has started to get jealous without a reason. Julieta Baby encourages him to talk about everything as much as he needs, this is not his fault and he will be able to get over it.

Bea is proud of Sara for letting go of the inheritance. Sara says she never had their money, she will definitely be able to move forward without it. She caresses her flat stomach, mentions how she just wanted to punish everyone when Juan rejected her, but all of that is over now, she has something to fight for. And she wants her baby to be free and be able to love his father, who will be a great dad for his two kids. Yeah, step siblings having the exact same age can truly bond about their father doing double duty.

Juan and Modesto talk about Sara and Modesto leaving the ranch, he understands it’s for their own sake. Modesto promises to still take care for them from afar. Juan asks why he took this decision, Modesto says it was just something he had to do. Juan says he misses Sev very much.

Pedro is on the phone with a lawyer, asking if “they” can go to jail for what they’ve done. As he hangs up, Julieta arrives and they get into it over their failed attempt to cause Sara a miscarriage. Julieta blames Pedro for not stopping Juan, who is now a hero in Sara’s eyes, it almost looks like he doesn’t care about Sara anymore. Is it because she’s carrying another man’s baby? Pedro asks her to stop talking nonsense (you and me both, dude), Julieta wonders what he is plotting now. Pedro asks her to wait until he’s certain of something that could change everything.

Mateo and Julieta Baby talk about Lucas, who is making progress. Then she gives him a copy of the DNA test, the real results. She not only managed to get the contact info of the lab where they were done (didn’t realize that was a secret), but she also convinced someone to give her, a perfect stranger, a copy of the results.

Juan is about to leave, but Corni needs to talk to him first. It’s about Pedro and the reason he wanted his dad out of the ranch is because he doesn’t want him or Tadeo under the same roof as Pedro. Modesto tries to shut him up, but Juan wants to listen, so Corni says Pedro paid someone to have him killed.

At the company Pedro asks Sara details about Dante. Sara admits she has always known him, but doesn’t understand Pedro’s curiosity. Pedro says he just discovered something that left him shocked. Something that could change everything, but she is probably aware of it. What it is? Dante and Deb are lovers!

Adriana - thank you for your recap and great snark!

What on earth did Juli put underneath that saddle? It did not look prickly, so it had another type effect on the horse. Looked like a wad of wasabi to me. Good thing San Juan was there to save Sara.

WooHooooo! We all thought Dante was Sara's bio-dad and we were right.

I Googled Modesto's fever and it has a name: psychogenic fever. Caused by extreme stress. Who knew? He really needs to go to the authorities but is probably afraid if they approach Pedro, he (Modesto) will be P's next victim.

Now that Pedro knows Sara is not a Del Monte, it will be interesting to see how he plans to "punish" her. He is becoming more arrogant every day. She will survive, no matter what, because she is Juan's endgame.

Corni is doing a good job with his Apology & Redemption Tour.

If I had a dollar for every time Sara puts her hands over her abdomen, I could take a very nice vacation. Honestly, the girl is over-doing it, even for telenovela land.

BINGO - Weirdo, if your bingo card has "Discovery of Real Parentage" you can mark it off. Mine was already marked off (Lucas) but since you began playing later, look to see if you have this one.

Thank you, Adriana, for yet again another great recap. It was funny and witty as always.

"Don’t worry, buddy, we dislike watching you just as much as you dislike watching them." Had me laughing out loud!

"Yeah, step siblings having the exact same age can truly bond about their father doing double duty." This one too!

Another correct prediction for us! Way to go, guys! Pedro should really start to read this blog.

"And she wants her baby to be free and be able to love his father, who will be a great dad for his two kids. " Did the writers finally stop the previous weird plot of "you'll-never-see-your-kid-again" thing? Finally! It was such a stupid plot. Like that would ever happen! I'm glad that she did leave the ranch, even temporarily. That is not a healthy place to raise a baby. I'm glad (or at least I hope) that they didn't continue the previous plot. It was so WTF and unrealistic.

I like Julieta Baby more and more.

Speaking of Julietas, thankfully the "wild horse" plan didn't work. Ha, ha, ha, Pedro and Julieta!

Corni did one thing right in his life. He told Juan about Pedro. I hope Juan doesn't act like an idiot and tell Pedro who told him. If that's the case, Modesto will definitely take a better look at Pedro's torture chamber. Or Corni a first look.

Thank you again, Adriana!

Bingo + La Madrastra

Just saw your comment, doris. Thanks! I'll mark it off!

IMPORTANT: Since I have already watched the first few episodes, I have already written the recap for the first episode. I will recap the Gran Estreño (finally have the courage to recap a "Gran", lol). I also think we should write them on separate pages. Since it will start around the time La Herencia (the one that's currently being recapped on separate pages) ends, I think it's a good candidate. Many famous actors and great plot in my opinion. I'll write a "Before the Gran Estreño" on a separate page anyway and I really think we should recap it separately.

Thank you, Adriana. Excellent! Loved the title. Too many fathers here should have regrets. What a loser’s circle of men. PERIOD. So, Dante only NOW realizes that he should have protected Sara. OKAY. Can all of these men get together and give Pedro and his smirk a knuckle sandwich that really matters already? Take out a tooth or three? Good to see that Julieta Baby weaseled out the DNA paternity test results.

Gracias, Adriana.

It's beginning to look like Dante is seeing who Deborah really is and that she has dragged him down. With 15 remaining episodes will he try to save what's left of himself? It's probably too late because he has committed murder.

As for Sara knowing about her mother's dalliance with Dante, I predict we will get a flashback to the compromising scene where Deborah lied and said he was preventing her from falling on the sidewalk. I hope Sara keeps quiet about that because Pedro's mind is not headed in a good direction. In fact, he is having the same delusions about Aurora that Lionel of QT had about his highly toxic father (whom he didn't kill). His downward spiral into complete madness is picking up speed.

Julieta did exactly as predicted, but was not that careful about it. She truly believes she is above all rules of society.

Prospero is showing himself to be a wise fellow. Too bad he didn't take more of the reins on his daughters in the past. Julieta's downfall will be very painful for him.

More later. I have to watch Ricos now.

Cher Adriana, merci for another outstanding recap of all these people standing out making stupid decisions . geez.

Who knew that Corny was going to start to look good next to these other guys? At least, he is less crazy and murderous than some people.

Pedro looks more and more like a demon. He is marked for a grisly end.

Dante should keep his deep thoughts to himself instead of muttering them outloud for crazy people like Pedro to hear. Dante blames vreedy Deb for starting this bsll rolling . Uh oh . Is Pedro now going to go along with Juli's desire to eliminate Sara along with the bebe? When will Sara discover who her real dad is!

Why has Rose suddenly decided to wear scarves ? Will we ever find out if she did have an affair with randy, roaming Sev?

What will Deb's next step be? She will not be happy that Sara has left the ranch and the money behind.

Thanks, Adriana, your recap was excellent. And thanks, Doris for the info on the fever. I thought the writers were losing it!

Not sure why Próspero worries most about Jessica. Juli is the one he should be worried about. And I thought her jealousy had been a big problem before, even broke up Juan and her previously.

Something we should learn from this, if you know someone was murdered, and by whom, you need to tell. I fear Sara will be his next victim, well they’ll be an attempt. Maybe Simon will save her!

Brayan is working at the bar, not the ranch, and nobody has noticed. He walked right past Juan!

Once I saw danger, I would quickly remove my child from the danger. Both Dante and Deb knew how dangerous Pedro was. They’ll never get parent of the year!
Liz

What was placed under the saddle: it looked like a small piece of cactus to me, but who knows?

"Brayan is working at the bar, not the ranch, and nobody has noticed. He walked right past Juan!"
Liz, Right??? Juan's telenovela beanie hat is entirely too tight on his head.

Adriana, your wise wit was such an important element of your marvelous recap which included: “while I’m distracted by that toddler’s undershirt she’s wearing”; “Don’t worry, buddy, we dislike watching you just as much as you dislike watching them.” And “Mateo decides to ignore such idiocy”. Just grand.

“Take care and hope your brother doesn’t kill you.” No, he doesn’t say that, but don’t you wish he did?” Juan, this wasn’t a clue, it was a declaration! Nothing to misinterpret!

“Brayan is working at the bar, not the ranch, and nobody has noticed” is exactly right Liz. But he was off to the side, listening intently during Modesto and Juan’s conversation. Will he speak up before Pedro strikes again??

Loved how Modesto was on the verge of physical and mental collapse, barely able to walk but when he sees Berta he recuperated almost immediately! But after leaving, he seemed to deteriorate once again. Doris, leave it to you to diagnose Modesto’s fever as “psychogenic fever” “caused by extreme stress.” Very informative – thank you.

“Prospi admits that her behavior is partly his fault. He never stopped her from raising her daughters telling them they will be the queens at Santa Catalina…” Oh Prospi, as if you ever could have!

“Who knew that Corny was going to start to look good next to these other guys?” I really thought he was irredeemable Susanlynn, simply because he is an abuser. I’m still thinking he likely might not survive but might save someone and die for a good cause. Pure speculation.

‘Good to see that Julieta Baby weaseled out the DNA paternity test results”. Amen Jarifa! Finally someone is getting somewhere. Weirdo, I am liking Julieta Baby more each day too!

Adriana, thank you, thank you!

Diana

Lost part of my comment.

"Pedro's mind is not headed in a good direction". You are exactly right Urban! He now thinks Sara lied and whenn he saw Aurora instead of Sara, sitting in his car, that looked very ominous!!

Diana

Adriana: Thank you very much for the recap of last night's episode.

Thank God Juan came to the rescue & saved Goldie Locks Sara. You know Psycho Pedro & Buji Julieta aren't done yet.

This is like what assassination attempt #2 against Goldie Locks Sara 🤔

Steve Boudreaux

Super job, Adriana. I laughed all the way. My fave: while I’m distracted by that toddler’s undershirt she’s wearing…

My hat is off to Michelle Renaud (Sara) for wearing that thing without a worry that her "girls" might pop.

What a lousy plan to cause a miscarriage. It’s a horse, not a bull, for pete’s sake. The horse was supposed to stomp Sara? Even if Juan hadn’t showed up, that horse would’ve just used the opportunity to run free. Oh well, it did show how low Julieta will go and what a pain she is to the ranch hands.

What is Modesto's plan? He's got to do something. Will he tell Bertha?

Cornelio being the cause of his dad almost getting killed has turned him around. Nice to see him support Bertha becoming his stepmom.

Hmmm, so will Sara have to deal with a new set of siblings, Dante’s kids with his wife? Even though Sara has given up her inheritance, being "Great Man" Sev's daughter meant something special to her. What a letdown for her when she finds out Dante and Deb's scam.

Deb doesn't seem stressed by not remembering anything. Could she be faking? But it is nuts that they believe Deb will be able to identify who poisoned her. Even if the note ended with "Love, Dante" [which, of course, it didn't], that doesn't mean Dante did it. And when will we find out exactly what poisonous substance was in the wine? Could it be ... rat poison?

"And when will we find out exactly what poisonous substance was in the wine? Could it be ... rat poison?" Great point Niecie! It would have beenn logical to have it anylzed but do you think anyone was savvy enough to do so?

Diana

Niecie: I think Gold-Digger Debbie is FAKING it!

Diana: Elizabeth Alvarez is doing an AWESOME job portraying the reviled & despicable Gold-Digger Debbie.

Steve Boudreaux

I think Dante's "family" is a lie he's telling. Also, when will we see Sara's ex, Esteban? Have the writers forgotten about him or are they really going to introduce a character in the last 14 episodes? I mean, it has happened before with Telemundo's Falsa Identidad.

Deb faking not remembering stuff does sound like her, but as Niecie said, even if she does remember that doesn't mean that she knows who poisoned her. Will they tell us already? At first it was fun now it's tiring.

Wow. I had copy-pasted the La Madrastra comment from the Univisión page and forgot to change some things. My brain hates me.

Weirdo...yes, I have been saying for a long time that Dante's family is a story he made up...perhaps as an excuse for not marrying vibora Deborah.

Wierdo and Susanlynn, that Dante might not have a family never occurred to me!

There was one scene where Dante was angry about all the time spent away from his family. But perhaps it was to coherent Deb rather than comatose Deb.

I can't see Deb not knowing or investigating that possibility but I could be wrong!

Diana

Diana, maybe what Dante was really upset about was spending so much time with Deb and the crazy hermanos .

Great Job Adriana, the wit, the irony!!! I love your recaps!

I commented earlier but it looks like comment monster googled it. Maybe Rvg Chick can rescue it but if not I just wanted to say thanks again! It's been a busy day no time to retype.

I don't know what to think about Dante's actual marital status. For him to be faking a family would make sense if his actual intention is to ditch Deborah once he has the money he is looking to steal. Whether he intends to kill her or not probably doesn't matter; it would be easier for him to disappear and change his identity if he doesn't have an actual family he hs been away from for extended periods of time.

It is possible that the writers didn't make up their minds through the story and now it's too late to flesh this stuff out. I've seen things like this before.

"Esteban," the SOB who hurt Sara before the curtain went up, is very unlikely to make an appearance at this late date.

They should have entities this episode " Wild Horses." First, Juli sends the untamed horse in Sara's direction. Then, Rosa story tells about that stallion Sev pursuing her . Yes ..I am sure .

My second favorite Part of this episode was the "avocado themed " baby shower . wow. I think the writers are playing with us. How would one decorate for this theme...blue and pink avocados ? Avocadoes dressed as babies ? We know what's on the menu.

Entitled ..sorry
