La herencia #68 Thursday 10/6/22 Notes from the Couch . . .
This is in no way complete. Please feel free to add anything I omitted.
In keeping with the equestrian influences at the hacienda: WHOA!!! is all I can say after this episode .🐴
The Important Things:
1. Simón AKA BigBabySimón confesses to having killed his father. (but his story doesn't quite match what Agustín saw and was "encouraged" to forget Hmmm . . .)
Juan goes BSC hearing BBS (Big Baby Simón) confess and throws him on the floor. Paloma goes to comfort BBS as Lucas and Paloma insist that BBS is upset and confused. All Juan wants to know is how did he kill their father. An hysterical BBS explains that he and Severiano were arguing in the SUV and he was threatening his father with telling everyone that he was not the perfect husband but had his share of lovers. Then something happened. He didn't know what and the SUV was thrown to the other side of the road landing on its roof. The driver was dead. He remembers his father complaining that he was stuck.
BBS kicked out a window and managed to get out of the wreck. He went around to the other side and opened the door next to his father. His father begged him to help him. He told his father to just hold on. His father screamed as he pulled his injured leg out from where it had been pinned. He pulled his father from the wreck to the shoulder of the road. He held his father as he looked for his cellphone but was unable to find it. He was unable to call an ambulance and his father begged him not to leave him to die alone. BBS told him he wasn't going to die. Severiano closed his eyes and was gone. BBS was left caressing his father's corpse and wailing. He says then Juan and Pedro arrived. Juan asks him if that is all that happened. All BBS can do is ask them to forgive him. He feels so guilty because if he had been able to call for an ambulance, his father could have been saved. He was stuck there like a fool because he couldn't find his cell phone to get help. Juan tries to tell him that there was nothing he could have done.
BBS admits that he had his doubts whether he should have tried to get his father out at all because of all the pain he caused their mother. He doubles down saying that he killed their father while he was alive with his criticizing him for his infidelities. We see BBS back in the SUV telling his father that he had caused his mother's death. He would rather be dead than like him. Then he asks what did Severiano give to him? He has to admit that his father gave him love to his last breath. His father asked him to forgive him. BBS begged his father to forgive him. His father didn't want to see him with such bitterness in his heart because he would end up all alone. He told BBS that he loved him. BBS told his father that he loved him, too. Then Severiano was gone. Juan apologizes to BBS saying he had no idea what he as going through. Sara tries to make peace with BBS. They all have a group hug with Pedro not really joining in but patting BBS on the head like a dog. Everyone tells BBS that he was not at fault. It all was an accident.
Later, Paloma leaves an incommunicado BBS to get some food. BBS sits up looking angrier and weirder than ever. Later, Juan checks in with BBS who tells him that he feels like a great weight has been lifted off his shoulders. Juan says that in spite of their father's extracurricular activities, that he never did have a chance to address with him, their father never failed them as his sons. BBS knows that but he wishes sometimes that they could all go back to when they were kids. Later, BBS remembers back to when he went chasing after his father through the orchards asking him loudly what did he do to his mother.??? His father said it was a problem between his mother and him. He needed to stay out of it. BBS insisted that he was in it because she was his mother and he wanted to protect her. Did be have a lover now? Was it the same old same old? His father grabbed him by the arm and told him not to talk like that to him in front of the workers. He reminded him he was his father. BBS says he didn't say anything to his brothers about Deb because he wanted to protect his mother. His father said there was nobody else and that Deb was a part of the past. BBS warned his father that if he ever were to see her in the house, he would kick her out himself. BBS still looks troubled.
2. Dante informs Juan that the owner of Campo Verde is Pedro.
At the end of the episode, Dante gives Juan an envelope with documents proving that Pedro is the owner of Campo Verde. Juan says he already knew. As if on cue (!) Pedro enters into the office asking what Juan knows. With the best poker face, Juan says that he knew that Dante wasn't going on vacation after all. He gives the folder back to Dante and they all leave the office.
3. Deb almost fulfills Pedro's wish but thinks better of it at the very last second.
Deb gives Sara some "tea" to drink but, at the very last second, she thinks back at Pedro ordering her to take care of getting rid of that bastard that Sara was carrying. Just as Sara is going to take a sip, Deb snatches the cup away and tells Sara it is better to not drink any tea because you never know what effect it could have on the baby. Sara thanks her mother for taking care of her. (if she only knew . . .) Sara admits to having gone to clarify some things at the hacienda. Cornelio thinks that the murder attempt on Amado was meant for him. Then Tadeo was talking about Henry. Sara then tells her about BBS and his feeling guilty after the death of his father. Deb thinks the "psicoloco" needs a "psicológico."Deb wonders if he might have tried to kill her. Sara asks where did the wine come from??? Dante? Deb says no. She is remembering little by little but wants Sara to drop the topic. She takes the tea and leaves for the kitchen. In another scene, Sara asks Deb if she was lovers with Dante again. Deb didn't answer the first time and now says that Sara knows that men are her weakness. Was Deb lovers with Dante at the same time she was with her father??? Sara (has an enquiring mind and) wants to know. We never hear the answer.
4. Mateo, Lucas and Julieta Baby (in absentia) succeed in exposing Juli for the liar and con-woman she is in front of EVERYONE that matters at the baby shower.
Everyone, even BBS, is at the baby shower at the hacienda. Mateo and Lucas make eye contact. Mateo turns on the video recorder on his phone which is placed in his shirt pocket with the lens unobstructed. . He tells Juli he has to talk to her about something very important. Lucas tries to get everyone involved in dancing. Mateo convinces Juli to go to the kitchen to talk. Lucas gets in front of a huge video screen and tells everyone that he wants to make a live transmission for his channel. Instead, they are treated via Mateo and Lucas's phones, to Mateo telling Juli that the results of the DNA paternity test she took are false. She fooled them all. He shows her the real ones that prove that the baby she is expecting is his and not Juan's. Everyone hears her throw a tantrum but then admit it is really Mateo's child. The baby will be his nephew and Juan will continue believing the baby is his child. She leaves the kitchen and goes back into the living room never expecting what is awaiting her: stares and silence. She sees herself on the screen and realizes that they saw and heard everything.
Everything else:
-Deb hasn't missed a beat and goes to visit Prospi to ask him if he is surprised to see her alive. She congratulates him on his vow renewal and tries to weasel her way back into his life liking the new macho version of Prospi much better than his weakling version. He tells her she is not welcome in his house and shows her the door saying that he will see her in court and she assures him that she will see him in jail.
-Pedro is busymorally corrupting his son. He tells him he is no longer the "Prince of the horses" but now is the "Prince of Santa Catalina." He will inherit everything that he sees! Pedro tells Tadeo that he cannot and must not trust anyone especially and including his mother. Tadeo readily agrees but asks Pedro not to leave him alone so much since he likes to be with him and play with him. Tadeo confesses that he already told Sara about their secret about Henry. He asks Pedro what to say now because he wants him to be happy and proud of him. Pedro smiles. Later, Bea brings Tadeo back from the ranch and he rejects Cornelio as his father. He is not related to him. Pedro Del Monte is his only father.
-Later, the siblings decide that BBS needs professional help. Pedro now thinks they should throw BBS in the insane asylum rather than jail. He also takes advantage of the group being together to take it upon himself to announce that Sara is expecting Juan's baby. Juan will be a father twice at the same time !!! (Like Double Mint Gum but is it two times the fun??) Julia and Rosa miss the announcement because they are already in the chapel.
-Sara ends up being pulled into attending the mass. She spoils Juli's day when Juan choses her rather than Juli as the other relative to bless the urn with Severiano's ashes. She also spoils Pedro's day when she picks Juan over him to bless the urn. Later, Juan tries to explain to Juli that Sara is Severiano's only blood relative. Juli married into the family.
-Alondra tells Jessica that she is worried about Juli. She was about to murder Sara. Jessica is finding that hard to believe no matter what Alondra tells her. Alondra leaves totally frustrated.
-Sal tells Prospi that he is worried that Cornelio was the one who poisoned Deb with him taking and replacing the wine bottle. Cornelio doesn't drink wine.
-Dante is packing to get out of town. Deb arrives at the hotel and is not pleased that he has not been in contact with her and sees that he is leaving. She accuses him of trying to poison her with the wine to get rid of her. He denies it. She slaps him twice: going and coming. He denies it again. He doesn't care what she thinks. He grabs her by the face and tells her not to threaten him. She also tells him that Pedro knows that Sara is their daughter. She is worried about Sara's safety. Dante says Juan will protect her. She blames Dante for this whole mess because he talked too much. He asks how was he to know that Pedro would been in the hallway and opening the door? She asks him not to leave her like this now. She tells him that Pedro wants Sara to have a miscarriage and wants her to take care of it. He is a beast. He needs to stay for his daughter's sake.
-Before the baby shower, Juan tells Mateo that he cannot change Sara's mind. She will have the baby but raise it far away from Santa Catalina. Mateo says Sara is good woman. Juan knows that because she put the baby before any kind of inheritance. Juan says that Sara is the love of his life. Mateo thinks that maybe life is getting ready to give them something really good.

Loved the way you organized the recap, too, makes it easier to understand the different plots going on at the same time.
Tadeo being brainwashed came out of the nowhere, but I guess it's believable if we consider that Pedro has been showering him with attention, then ignored him and now he is back to putting him on a pedestal. I hope the kid doesn't suffer and I really pray that Cornelio can find a way to treat Bea like a decent human being, so together they can save their son from Pedro.
Alondra is finally getting interesting, just as Julieta's downfall is coming. I think Juan will want nothing to do with her now, but Mateo will most likely pick up the pieces for the sake of little Matea.
Juan knew about Campo Verde before Dante told him, right? Then he must know Dante has been working with Pedro, too, especially since he had him investigated. And maybe he even knows that Deb and Dante are lovers... The guy is proving to be quite interesting, too bad we couldn't see this part of him earlier, it would have made him interesting!
Sara finding out about Dante and then everyone finding out about Pedro seem to be the big OMG moments left to explore. 12 capitulos left! I can't wait!
Also, Deb almost giving her daughter that abortion inducing tea was an edge of my seat moment for me. Where do these people find this type of potion at a moment's notice? Only in a telenovela...
I noticed Sara's very appropriate attire at the memorial. I guess the toddler top would have been too much LOL
And was it only me who thought that Mateo and Lucas should have done the blessing? Juan having to choose between his two women was innappropriate, although somehow funny.
Ha! Take that Julieta! I was right when I said everybody will find out before #70! "What a great way to end the episode!" Couldn't agree more, Jarifa!
Simón's confession was weird to me too. I hope it's over and I REALLY hope there will be no 2nd season. This trainwreck is, well, a trainwreck.

I hope that Simón’s accident story is not over yet because if it is, then what was the Agustín version of the accident about anyway? There are too many contradictions and BBS is still acting weird.
Btw, Who tampered with the brakes on the SUV in the first place? We still do not know.
Ha! Juli never saw her debacle coming which made it so much sweeter. It was good to see technology working flawlessly for a change. Too bad Julieta Baby wasn’t invited so she could have enjoyed it in person.
Deb reminded me of a wild animal choosing to serve Sara the tea last night and in doing so serving her own self-interest in spite of it all. I got the feeling that she changed her mind almost on a whim. She clearly is not “domesticated.” They have done an excellent job writing that character and Elizabeth Álvarez in playing that character. She has turned out to be more nuanced than I would have thought.

Yes, that was muy interesting, wasn't it? And while Simön was recounting that while story, he stays on brand with it all being about him.
The plan to out Juli's lie was excellent. The gobsmacked looks on everyone's face was the best moment of the whole show.
Second best was Juan choosing Sara and ignoring Juli at the birthday remembrance misa.
Thank goodness Alondra is starting to see Juli's true colors. There might be hope for her relationship with Lucas.

The big paternity reveal was definitely the highlight of this episode. I can't wait for the fallout tonight. The Karmageddon discussion will be posted immediately after that.
Julieta should get what's coming to her for this. I hope Sara doesn't waste any pity on her.
For the moment I am prepared to believe that Severiano died from massive internal bleeding. That kind of an accident often does that and could also have severed the femoral artery. No ambulance could have gotten there in time.
I agree about Alondra and Lucas.
I don't know why anyone needs to be concerned about a sequel. No previous version of this story had one and we are still waiting for a second season of Medicos and a third of Por Amar Sin Ley. The casts of both of those are scattered far and wide now. If PdG 2 didn't do as well as Telemundo hoped it wouldn't be worth the risk.

No Talbot’s jacket for Juli today, it was leather and a cold shoulder blouse.
Very clever of Lucas, Mateo and Julieta baby to come up with such a clever scheme to expose Julieta’s deception. As you noted Adriana, “bless Lucas' little heart with his "live" videos, they are finally being useful”. Exactly.
Simon’s latest version of the aftermath of the accident makes no sense of what we’ve seen and certainly not what Augustin reported as you noted Jarifa. Simon lunged for Sara before making this version of his confession and had look of the devil as they were all hugging and later, after he sat up in bed. I saw only evil.
I wasn’t surprised Deb pulled back from giving Sara the poison.
Juan has been observant and stealthy all the while. A good galan.
Things have come to a head between Dante and Pedro.
Just a thought that I think Prospi has Rosa’s letters.

Enjoyed all the clever, observant comments from all the peeps who so carefully observe our crazy characters and try to figure out the schemes and dreams of these people .
Was anyone as amused as I was to see everyone in Simon and Pals bedroom
and hovering and hugging him dressed in only his boxers????? These people seem to have no idea of personal space . Pedro holding back from the group hug of almost nekkid , sobbing Simon and then just going in For a quick head rub was funny.
Hey, now we actually know what an avocado themed shower baby shower looks like. I made some guesses here the other day ,but I never thought of avocado balloons !!! Who knew you could buy those??? Well, Mateo and Lucas sure burst arrogant Julie's balloon(s) with their video reveal.

Pedro is now way over the top. Turning Tadeo against both his parents. And he never told Sara about Henry, not really, but Pedro doesn’t know that. I think he was using Sara for her inheritance or to beat his brother at something. Either way Sara may become another victim!
Juan said he felt whoever was behind the threats is still around. He’s got to suspect Pedro. And I think Pedro messed with the car. He seemed interested in what Simon had to say, but didn’t act like the brothers, really thinking he did something. And the way he hung back in Simon’s room. he’s incapable of loving anyone. All due to his mother.
Can’t wait till tonight to see the aftershocks! I hope Mateo doesn’t go back with Juli.

Yay! Julieta is busted in grand style. Right in front of her mom and dad. I think Prospi already had some doubts, but Rosa is totally blindsided. Will she keep her big mouth shut for once?
Lucas is such a dear. The one you always want on your team.
When Sara ran up the steps to see about Simón, I thought oh no now he's going to rip into her and things will get worse. But he seemed to at the least tolerate her joining in the gang to comfort him.
But, nope, we're not done with his latest version of the accident. We've seen Simón running like a bat out of hell, in his own previous flashback and in Augustin's. I still don't think Simón is evil though, even though he's holding back something and has a wicked look when no one's looking. To me, he's loves Paloma too much and is too tied up in knots about whatever did happen with Sev to be evil. But he's got issues and needs therapy pronto. Maybe Julieta Baby can help him too. ;>
ITA they should've showed us more of Juan's cunning. I couldn't see how he didn't suspect Pedro of being Campo Verde. No unknown biz can just pop in from nowhere and starting taking away their customers. But when he's acting cool as a cucumber before Dante and Pedro spinning their lies, he's good to watch.
If she is still among the living when Sara has the baby she will probably try again to brainwash her into milking as much dinero out of him, then run off with her to find another pigeon.
Yes. This is what they do. They have gathered in Lucas' and Mateo's room, too, IIRC.
Rosa's reaction to the Big Reveal will be interesting. Mateo is a DelMonte but he gave up his share of the inheritance. Does Rosa know that?
It is horrible that Pedro has poisoned Tadeo's mind against Corni. Pedro wants to win it all and at any cost.
The look on Pedro's face when Tadeo said he just wanted to make Pedro proud, was nothing short of CHILLING!!! I had always believed that Pedro at least loved Tadeo, but after last night I don't think that's true either. I don't think Pedro is capable of loving anyone and Tadeo is just another pawn. The prized 'first heir' and a feather in his cap. Corny is right to worry about Pedro being a danger to his son.
Juli goes down!! I love it but I'm betting she'll just go more BSC now since she no longer has to keep up appearances....get ready for some real crazy!!
I agree with you Niecie - I think we might be sitting alone at the Simon is not evil table, but I'm there with you. This guy is seriously haunted though.
I agree with you Urban about there not being much likelihood that there will be a second season of this. Although from what I've remember of the previous version, I would say this current version is only loosely related to the original. They've made some pretty drastic departures which is nice because I have have no idea what will happen next and zero expectation that whatever it is will reflect the original at all.
It was strange to see Deb begging Dante to stay just minutes after accusing him of trying to kill her. I can't imagine begging someone not to leave me when if I thought he wanted me dead. Maybe she doesn't truly believe it could be him, I don't think she truly suspects Prospi either, but she sure enjoys playing with her food.
Tonight's recap will be up sometime tomorrow most likely, but maybe late tonight.
OT/Weirdo, I am not planning to watch La Madrastra so I will not be recapping.
Weirdo, yeah, sometimes real life does disrupt our fun on the patio! I have not heard/read anything about a second season for this one but will keep my fingers crossed with you that this is nicely tied up and over. The only thing for sure is that Juan knows more than we think he knows.

Urban, tonight should be an exciting episode to see what happens when the shock wears off.
To me there are two issues with BBS and the crash. Who tampered with the brakes ahead of time? We saw that the driver who tried to slow the car down but couldn’t. Did BBS or did not assist his father into eternity?
Diana, you and me both are exhausted. Glad you enjoyed my goofy humor. Yes, Juan is turning into a good galán plus he is cute. I hadn’t thought about Prospi having the letters. That could really backfire on Rosa.
Susanlynnn, yes, the couch is comfy cozy with plenty of pillows, fluffy throws and yes my favorite beverage as well as food. It is a grand place to opine from! LOL Thank you for mentioning that BBS was only in his boxers. There was something so cringe about that scene and now I know what it was. Yuk!
You are right that Pedro was the only smart one in that crew.
Steve, I am not Diana but Julieta Baby is neither Alondra or Jessica. She is Lucas’ therapist and Mateo’s girlfriend.
Liz, I never expected Pedro to turn Tadeo against both of his parents. That was another super creepy revelation. ITA that Pedro never loved Sara. He wanted more money to gain control and to best Juan at something.

Great question “Will (Rosa) she keep her big mouth shut for once?” I will be watching and I am sure I will be laughing to see her batted down to her “rightful” place in the social order because that is how she plays.
I was disappointed that Deb got as far as making the tea and actually serving it to her daughter.
Darcy, “I don’t think that Pedro is capable of loving anyone and Tadeo is just another pawn.” Yes, Tadeo’s loyalty to Pedro was “CHILLING.” I feel sorry for the kid. His one father Cornelio is a wife beater, a criminal and drinks way too much beer. His other father Pedro is a psycho murderous sadist. Then while at Pedro’s, another psycho aka Deb, pushes him down the stairs and could have killed him. Bummer to be Tadeo!
