La Herencia #70 Monday "The good guys start using their brains"
Sara walks in on Deb and Juan and contradicts her mother’s jibberish, by saying that she and Juan are going to unite for their son and their family. She heard all of Deb’s words, and she’s back to talk to her brothers. She promises to Juan none of Deb’s words about her are true. Juan believes her. She wants to speak to the others first, but she asks Deb to talk later at the apartment.
Juli accuses Rosa of always pushing her
towards Juan. They could have never been happy together. Juan doesn’t love her!
Rosa admits she wanted her daughters to be happy no matter what and realizes
the one who loves Julieta is Mateo. But Juli can’t even hear his name, she
hates him and the child she’s carrying so much! Rosa is shocked by these words,
but Juli doesn’t care. Maybe Rosa can finally see the magnitude of her mistake.
Crazy-eyed again after Deb destroyed his
parents’ portrait, Simon looks almost catatonic while Paloma tries to keep him
off the edge (who needs a baby when you have a Simon, am I right, Paloma?). Think
about the present and our future, Paloma says and Simon’s answer is to remind
her and the Patio how much he hates Deborah (as if any of us ever had the time
to forget about that). He does wonder about what she said about Paloma’s
father, but Paloma insists her dad is Salvador. They kiss and Paloma promises to
put back the portrait.
Modesto and Bertha kiss goodbye, he
promises to keep her words just for him. Brandon and Dulce are at the bar, too,
Dulce kisses Brandon without notice, he’s happy.
Sara and Juan get in the house and Simon
welcomes Sara with the reminder of what her mother is capable of. Sara feels
very bad, she can’t stop looking at the ruined portrait, as Juan tries to calm
his brother. Sara apologizes for her mom, but it wasn’t her. She’d like to
speak to him in private before she sees the others. Simon doesn’t want to, but
Juan asks him to do it, too.
Deb is in the chapel, that’s where she’d
kept hidden the box of letters. She starts going through them while Adela spies
from outside. But Pedro notices her and chases her away, and then goes inside
to ask Deb what she is still doing at the ranch. He doesn’t like Deb’s answer
that she’s here for a personal matter and they struggle over the box of
letters. When the box falls on the floor Pedro is the one who picks up the letters
and realizes they are from Rosa to her beloved Sev.
Pedro is amused to have the confirmation
that Rosa did have a thing for Sev, too, the guy could really turn heads,
couldn’t he? Deb says this is none of his business, she will take care of it.
Pedro doesn’t care about Rosa, what he’d like to know is about their plan. Deb
says she can’t do that to Sara, she is her mother. Pedro warns Deb that if it’s
not her, it’s going to be him, and he might just take care of the child and the
mother. Deb doesn’t think he could hurt Sara, but she could kill him with his bare
hands for this. Pedro calls her and Dante useless, made for one another. Then makes
the sign of the cross and leaves.
At the Millan house, Rosa and Prospi are still very worried about Julieta and her odd behavior. Prospi apologizes for accusing
Rosa earlier, he is to blame, too. Alondra is afraid Juli will harm the baby,
Rosa doesn’t think she would go that far. They all hug.
In the study Sara tells Simon that while
nobody liked her when she first moved in, she knows he took it the worst. And when
he threw her in the mud, she started hating him. They never lived together,
they never got to know one another… Simon says this was Sev’s fault, he always
kept her hidden. Sara used to think that, too, and that’s why they hated one
another so much. What she wants now is to be free. Free of the hate and of the
resentment she’s felt ever since she came to the ranch. And she wants the same
thing for him. He doesn’t see this possible, because too many ugly things have
happened between them. But Sara refuses to believe they can’t start over, they
just have to give it an honest try together. Simon actually seems to be
listening to her.
He says it’s hard to forget what Deb has
done to their family and Sara admits she’s having a hard time forgetting all
his humiliations towards her, too. But that’s one of the reasons she never pressed
charges against him over the poisoning affair, because she wants to trust him
and put all of this behind them. Simon insists it wasn’t him, Sara asks him
again to start from scratch, get to know one another for real. She extends her
arm and Simon takes it, she is crying and he is teary eyed, too.
Lucas and Mateo come down the stairs to
find the ruined portrait and Juan still trying to reach Dante. He tells Lucas
he will explain them about the portrait later and when Mateo says he’s worried
about Julieta doing something to harm his baby, Juan says he will go talk to
her the next day. Pedro arrives to ask if he talked to Sara and realizes Deb
ruined the portrait. Juan explains Sara is in the study talking with Simon and
asks Pedro about Dante, too. He lies that they plan to meet the next day to
talk about Tadeo.
Sal tells Augustin Modesto is very happy to
be getting married. He’s also happy to be with Adela, he never though he’d have
another chance at happiness. And no, he hasn’t had any news about Irma, nor
does he wish to. But he’s worried sick about Paloma. Because Sev had once told
him that Paloma is his daughter. Sal never allowed him to prove it with a
DNA test, he even threatened Sev to tell Catalina the truth. That’s why Sev
never included Paloma in his will. Sal did tell Catalina the truth eventually,
but she kept quiet, like she’d done about so many other Sev secrets. Paloma is
listening to the entire conversation, as she has arrived just before they
started talking.
Augie asks Sal if Paloma knows anything,
Sal says that she doesn’t. Just then Bryan sees Paloma and calls her. The men
don’t think she heard theirconversation and she comes to hug them all smiles. She tells
them about the Julieta bombshell.
Sara calls for the brothers to come into the
study, too. Juan tells her he’s trying to reach Dante, Pedro suggests he probably
left for a vacation. As Juan calls, we can see that Dante is still alive, but
agonizing, still hanging in the same spot Pedro left him.
Deb is still at the ranch, barely able to
walk with her high heels on the cobblestone – poor Elizabeth Alvarez has to
recite another one of Deb’s rants while actually being scared that she might
break her neck if she accidentally falls. Deb promises to find proof against
Pedro and she will show it to all his brothers. As she talk to herself, she
arrives at the chamber of torture (I think), but before she can go inside,
Adela arrives to ask what she is doing there. Deb thinks she is following her,
Adela offers to escort her out, but Deb leaves on her own.
Sara tells to the brothers that Juan asked
her to come back to the ranch and Juan explains that Sara is aware of Julieta’s
absurd lie. Pedro flashes back to hearing Juan tell Dante that he already “knew
about it” earlier, while carrying a folder, and says out loud “The folder”, but
then excuses himself with his brothers saying he has a lot on his mind right
now. I don’t see the connection between what Juan was saying about Julieta’s
lie and Pedro remembering the moment Dante confirmed to Juan that Campo Verde
belonged to Pedro, but maybe that will be explained later.
Anyway, Juan keep talking about how
difficult their situation has been, but they all know they are having a baby
together. Juan and Sara hold hands and Sara says she wants to get to meet her
brothers and Juan wants Sara to come back. She makes it clear that she doesn’t want
the inheritance, but she does want to live with them so they can become a
family. She wants to have real brothers, to stop fighting and to become united.
Lucas of course is happy to accept her, asks if she’s coming back immediately.
Sara says not until Juan clarifies his situation with Julieta and then further
explains that she wants to do things differently this time around, no more
trying to impose her presence on them, she wants to ask them all if they accept
her as part of their family and their company. Lucas and Mateo smile, Simon has
a poker face and Pedro… well, he’s no sunshine and roses, for sure.
Lucas hugs Sara and says that he does want her
to stay. Mateo asks if Deb will be around, too, and Sara says definitely not.
Simon agrees with Sara coming back, if for nothing else, then for Juan,
who deserves to be happy, after sacrificing so much to be there for them. He
thanks Juan again for his support and hugs him. Pedro says he doesn’t agree, if
Sara comes back, Deb will never leave them alone. Sara insist her mom won’t
come back and neither will she for now. Pedro reluctantly welcomes her, Simon
says he has to go meet Paloma. And Mateo only says he hopes that everything
will be alright, they all deserves a new beginning. He needs to go see Julieta,
he’s worried for his son’s life. And Pedro leaves, too, he’s very tired
apparently. When Lucas excuses himself, too, Juan and Sara are alone and both
hope this is the beginning of a new era for them, one of peace and quiet.
Speaking of peace and quiet, Dante is still
in agony, dripping blood… Or is he finally dying?
Paloma gives Sal and Augie the details
about Julieta being caught in her lie. But she also wants to tell them that
Simon confessed to his brothers about Sev’s accident and how his guilt comes
from the fact that he couldn’t bring himself to call for help. Augie tries to say
that he was there, but Paloma stops him, they all need to help Simon get over this
trauma. No more talking about this subject!
Jessica has come to see Juan, but he won’t
talk without Sara present. Jess explains she’s not here to talk about Juli, but
about Bryan, who left his work because they wouldn’t give him his raise. Sara
says that she did approve for the salary increase, she even promised him a
better job. And Pedro was going to talk to Juan about it, but … Another light
bulb moment for them.
Over dinner, Tadeo asks Bea if Bruno will
be his dad, too, he already has two fathers. Bea explains that Corni is his
dad, the one who raised him and took care of him. Tadeo doesn’t know who to
love more, because his real father is Pedro. Bea promises to talk about this
later, now it’s time to go to bed, because he has his robots competition the
next day. Bea asks why he called his robot Henry, Tadeo lies that he saw the
name on TV.
Then Tadeo asks if he’ll have another cousin
and Bea says that yes, tia Sara is having a baby, too. Tadeo says that makes
them three herederos Del Monte, but he is the first one. Chilling!
It’s getting late and Juan wants to take
Sara home. She’s worried because she and Bea found out Tadeo named his robot
Henry because Pedro told him to, and she thinks the whole thing very odd.
Pedro, Henry, Victorio… that’s it, connect the dots.
Pedro is in his room, cleaning his rifle. Dead
Dante (!) comes to visit him and Pedro asks him to go away and shots him. Juan and
Sara hear the noise and run to Pedro's room, find him with his rifle directed at them. He
says it was an accidental shot, but both Juan and Sara have to beg and scream
for him to hand over the weapon. Juan will take it to his room, for now. Pedro
asks them both to get out!!
On the hallway Sara and Juan agree that it
was very odd for Pedro to clean his rifle in the dark. Juan knows Pedro has
been acting very strange lately, the only reason he hasn’t investigated it, is
because he’s afraid of what he might find.
Juan adds that he’s no longer willing to
sacrifice their love for anything in the world, and they hug. Sara has to leave
and Juan insists to take her home.
Mateo has come to visit the Millan family.
Prospi wants him to leave, both he and Rosa are upset with him because of the
spectacle he created at the party. Between him and Juan, they really turned
Julieta crazy. Mateo stands his ground, Prospi can do whatever he wants to him,
but he needs to take care of his daughter because the baby she’s carrying is
innocent and Juli needs professional help. Prospi resents this, Mateo says
Julieta might do something to harm her baby, so he will never stop coming over,
Prospi throws him out.
Simon has arrived at the Bar, apparently
Sal put a note on the front door: “Del Monte family not welcomed”. Simon
apologizes for the other night, but Sal is still upset. He does offer Simon a
tequila to drink. Augie is already drunk, Simon offers him another glass,
Paloma reminds him he’s taking medication. But Augie doesn’t care, look at the
patron Severiano how he died.
Jess is still waiting for Bryan to come
back home, she couldn’t go see him at the bar because of that woman. Adela
assures Jess Bryan is not cheating, Jess asks if Adela knew about the raise
that Sara did agree to. She also asks about Bryan’s relationship with Pedro,
wonders if Bryan left the ranch because of him.
Corni tries to convince Bryan to
participate in his new plan against Pedro, because Juan needs to know the
truth. Bryan doesn’t want to get involved, he’s afraid for his family’s life.
Corni insists, they have to stop being so coward, or Pedro will finish them
all.
And speaking of, here is Pedro digging another
grave, this time for Dante, the traitor. He knows he was the one who told Juan
about Campo Verde. And now he’ll be going after his daughter. She will pay,
too.
Sara and Juan arrive at the apartment, she
offers him a drink. He’d like some tea, I hope Deb already threw away her
poisonous potion. Juan speaks about the change in Pedro, who has always been difficult,
but never to this extent. They both agree that Aurora’s return disturbed him a
lot, they have no clue where she might have left. Juan would like to tell her
something more: Campo Verde belongs to Pedro!
Labels: herencia
Pedro is dangerously deteriorating in full view but will Juan DO anything about him or will he keep looking like a deer in the headlights?
"Being afraid of what he might find" is hardly an excuse for a galán.
Too bad Dante's ghost or Aurora's ghost couldn't convince Pedro to join them. ; )
They’re starting to realize Pedro is losing it but I’m sure they don’t realize how bad Pedro is. I’d be afraid to be in the same house as him.
I was sorry to see Dante die. He was likable in spite of his being a crook and cheating them out of their inheritance, while pretending to be caring and helpful, and committing a couple of murders!
Their relationship had been a long one. I also felt he would be the one to save Sara.
Juli is another one who is losing it. She and Pedro should be a couple! Her parents have no idea what she’s really like.
Corneo is right that they need to tell Juan. But Modesto needs to talk too. If he had spoken up Dante might still be alive.
Not sure how Sara thinks she could keep her mother away from the ranch. She and Pedro will have to die before there’s any peace in that house
I sure hope Mateo is worried about his baby and not still in love with Juli. I really think that baby was a way to get Juan, but as much as I think she planned it I’m not sure.
Things are all heading towards a big finish!
Liz
My favorite line is:
" (who needs a baby when you have a Simon, am I right, Paloma?)" Spot on!
Deb trying to walk with her high heels on the cobblestone was a moment to ponder ...why? Those shoes look painful and difficult to walk in without cobblestones to navigate.
"Pedro says he doesn’t agree, if Sara comes back, Deb will never leave them alone"
For once, a Pedro is right.
Prospero's response to Mateo was inappropriate.
Paloma still might not be Sev's child. After all, he thought Sara was his. There could be a third man in the mix.
Wouldn't it be an interesting plot twist if a DNA test proves she is the *only* true heir and Santa Catalina is all hers? (Pure speculation)
"the only reason he hasn’t investigated it, is because he’s afraid of what he might find." Aaannd, denial is not just a river in Egypt. How many more bodies will it take, Juan?
The Dante scenes were just too gruesome to watch. I just can't. This show is in here at 7:00 pm CDT. Is this still considered 'family programming hour'? Ugh.
Susanlynn - you stated this perfectly. Soltero con Hijas is more my speed. :-). Reality in today's world is bad enough. Violence, brutality, gore, constant verbal abuse, etc are not my kind of escape nor entertainment. Give me light "fluff" any day. I thought Herencia would be okay, but when this is over, I'll probably take a vacation from telenovelas again.
Cobblestones are hard enough to walk on in "normal" shoes; walking on them in heels is near-suicide. However, Deborah perceives herself as a dominatrix so stiletto heels are de rigueur.
Pedro saying that Sara will pay is the scariest thing so far. He has to have been a total psycho with a brain injury to have come to this. How did his adoptive parents not see how bad this was?
I am having the awful feeling that the ranch and everything else could end up going to charity and our good guys will end up with nothing.
This was certainly a darker episode but it looks like Simon's redemption is beginning. It will be interesting to see how the truce is effected when Simon finds out Sara is not Sev's.
RIP Dante - I sort of wanted him to live but I figured it couldn't. I find it odd that Pedro is able to kill and torture in such a cold hearted and sadistic way but then feels guilty about it and is tormented by the ghosts. I don't think that fits, I would think he'd be remorseless.
I wonder where Jessica got her ability to think all of the sudden?? LOL
Speaking of thinking, why is Corni's plan, we have to tell Juan???!!! Um...it's called a police man, officer of the law, detective; go to the freaking authorities dumbass!!! What is telling Juan going to do for you? If you can convince him (and that's a big if) then.....What???
Marvelous title and “(who needs a baby when you have a Simon, am I right, Paloma?)” was my favorite of many.
I loved the Berta/Modesto kissing. Pedro’s making the sign of the cross at the front of the church had me expecting a bolt of lightning to smite him but sadly that did not happen.
I kept wondering what would have happened if Deb had gone up the barn stairs and found
Dante. Would he have been able to say anything and if so what would it have been? I was hoping his final words would have been “protect Sara”. But we will never know.
“Too bad Dante's ghost or Aurora's ghost couldn't convince Pedro to join them. ; )” is exactly right Jarifa.
I may be in the minority but I do think Prospi does know the depths of Juli’s mental illness and think he will get her the help she so desperately needs. I am not so sure though that he can save himself from that hideous short sleeved shirt with the black pocket he wore last night. Any fashion sense he once had has clearly evaporated.
Though Pedro wasn’t interested in the letters, he has bigger fish to fry, those letters will haunt Rosa eventually.
Excellent Adriana, thank you so much.
Diana
I do agree that getting the police should be the next step, but we have 10 episodes left.
A few episodes ago we did get a clue that Propero knows more about Juli Stepford's mental illness than he has described so far, but I am mystified that he has kept that secret.
Diana, you had me guffawing. That shirt was, indeed, hideous. LOL
Well I think that's what I'd like to see, a novela that made fun of all the novela laws...something campy, but witty, with no real discernable plot but plenty of entertainment.
I'm thinking about taking a novela vacation too. At least from the live broadcast ones as nothing coming up really catches my eye, but with Vix+ there are a couple older ones I never saw that I'd like to watch - like Medicos.
Everyone who keeps saying "Juan needs to know" drives me nuts! What can Juan do, if he admits himslef that he's afraid of the truth?
Jess going from zero to Pedro hates Bryan was definitely a change of pace for her, did she end Alondra suddenly change their drinking water? Can they give some to Julieta so she stops being a pest?
Liz, I also was sad to see Dante end up like he did. He deserved to be in jail for his anvil, not tortured to death. Now Pedro is a different story.
Diana, I think that Juli is lucky to have Prospi taking control. I think he is the only parent who can "parent" her at this point as I agree with you that he understands just how mentally ill she is. ITA your comment about the shirt.
Urban, your comment about Deb and her stilettos made me laugh., so true.
Darcy, yes, it was a shock to see Jesica actually thinking logically for a change and not just reacting. .
I am in the mood for some lighter novela fare, but it doesn't look like that will be on the schedule any time soon if ever. Anyway, I will be taking a look at "La madrastra"," Vencer la ausencia" and watching "La Reina del Sur" for sure.
I hope that we see Daniel in a galan role next even though he makes a scary evil guy.
Yes, Pedro should have burst into flames when he made the sign of the cross in the chapel. His fate is now officially sealed. He's a goner.
Yay, Simón! I've been lonely here at your table on the patio and, at times, wear a paperbag over my head, but I knew you could do it.
I loved that Sara and Simón quietly talked it out, without big dramatics. Way back when, I thought Juan was nuts to assign those two to work together, but it paid off. Simón came to see Sara is hard working and smart (maybe the smartest – she’s the only one that’s come up with new ideas for the biz) and nothing like Deb. I’ll give a nod to Paloma too because her look nudging him is what finally got Simón to agree to talk to Sara.
Goodness, I’m feeling sorry for Rosa of all people. It is not ALL her fault. She never told Julieta to boink both Juan and Mateo.
Diana, ITA Prospi’s shirt was ludicrous –- it took me right out of the serious scene with Mateo.
How dare Prospi manhandle Mateo. From the start, Mateo told folks the baby was his. Of course, he was drunk then but everybody knows drunks don’t lie when drunk. Prospi, look in the mirror -- and get rid of that shirt.
Nice touch of demon Pedro making the sign of the cross in the chapel.
Tadeo says that makes three herederos Del Monte, but he is the first one. Chilling!
Indeed. Tadeo said that like a Stepford Son. That scene had a Children of the Corn vibe to it.
Corni insists, they have to stop being so coward, or Pedro will finish them all.
Shocking, Corni is the smartest person in this TN!
Jarifa: How long before Prospero finds out that Buji Rosa & Scumbag Seve were lovers ?
Niecie: Televisa better NOT bring this train-wreck for a 2nd Season because Tadeo is trending toward becoming Pedro 2.0 🤔
Susanlynn: Doubling-down on Goldie Locks Sara losing the baby in some accident instigated by Psycho Pedro.
UA: Gold-Digger Debbie still scheming & plotting 24/7.
Darcy: Modesto is still a WEAKLING COWARD!
Steve Boudreaux
If you think the time for La Herencia is weird, you have to take a look at Greece's TV schedule, lol. They put La Doña at 16:00. I'm not kidding.
I agree, Darcy, that Pedro would be remorseless.
Someone (Liz?) said that she thinks Prospie knows about Juli's mental illness. I agree too. He has made a comment on it.
"These people are all odd" was spot on and super funny, Susanlynn!
I might be in the minority here, but I like dark novelas. That's the main reason I skipped Los Ricos También Lloran.
"Did she [Jessica] and Alondra suddenly change their drinking water? Can they give some to Julieta so she stops being a pest?" was absolutely FABULOUS Adriana!
"Shocking, Corni is the smartest person in this telenovela" was too funny, Niecie!
LA MADRASTRA
Susanlynn and Jarifa, I'm glad you'll be watching this. I have made a separate post on it, if any of you are interested in recapping it either from the start or from later on I'd be super grateful. ¡Mil gracias!
😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃😃
Steve Boudreaux
Niecie - thank you for my second big laugh-out-loud of the day. Paperbag, indeed. ~snort~
How exactly does Sara think she can Keep Deb away from the ranch and messing with the brothers and others? She hasn't been successful so far because she still doesn't see Deb's true nature ...a nasty witch.
I keep looking at Michelle ( Sara) with blonde hair trying to think who she reminds me of. I finally figured it out ...Sara Michelle Geller ( Buffy the Vampire Slayer.)
O/T: La Madrastre
Televisa must now have a new inheritance rule: Just as Michelle Renaud inherited this role from Marlene Favela (who played her mother in Pasion y Poder) Arecely Arambula in inheriting her upcoming one from Victoria Ruffo who played her mother in Abrazame muy fuerte. Is this the latest trend?
I wonder if she will wear her pirate boots in tonight's episode. She has only worn them one other time in this telenvoela, IIRC, and has worn them the last three episodes. I cannot figure out how they stay up.
