La herencia #78 Thursday 10/20/22 Notes from the Couch . . . A Tale of Two Brothers: He Who Hesitates is Lost--OR--The Early Bird Gets the Worm

This has been quite the recapping ride working on this novela. I want thank Adriana for getting our team together. It was great working with her and with Darcy. Also,  I want to thank all of our patio commenters (and readers) who helped make this show the fun experience it was.  To be honest, if I had not been recapping, I  never would have watched this beyond the first few episodes.  I am glad that I decided to stick it out.

As I sit here on my comfy couch, I am having some guacamole in honor of my last recap.  Things are getting way more complicated than I ever expected as we careen towards the gran final.  Hold on tight as this is off the rails!

1. Rosa is upset because Juli told Prospi the truth about who her daddy was. Rosa never wanted to hurt him. As far as she is concerned,  Prospi has always been Juli's  real father and the love of her life. (could have fooled me on that last one)  Juli has no sympathy for her mother and blames her for the whole mess. Berta and Adela tell Juli to have some respect for her mother. (Sure ) Juli asks what does it matter if her mother gave birth to her and then made her miserable?  Where do parents get the right destroy their children's lives?  (good question!) Prospi was the only one who ever supported her and Rosa took that away from her.  Adela tells her that her father Prospi will be the only pillar of strength that she can depend on for her whole life. She advises her not to let him go because when he is not around, she will cry the most bitter tears of her life.

2. Out in the refuge and staring at Agustín's corpse, Pedro is putting on an act telling Alondra and Lucas that he couldn't do a thing for Agustín. He died there right in front of his eyes! (oh, my!)  Alondra and Lucas are  broken up seeing Agustín dead on the ground.  Pedro's shifty eyes just keep on shifting.

3. Sara calls and tells Adela the bad news about her father.

4. Brayan and Brandon have joined the corpse and are crying over Agustín. (It looks like Agustín's eyes were still open which made it creepier than it needed to be)  Adela arrives. Pedro gets on the phone.

5. We see a pasty hand of a man in a suit and shirt punch in the code on Juan's office door. He goes in, punches in the code on Juan's safe and takes the package that Dante left Juan with his computer and thumb drive.

6. That night,  the wake for Agustín is held at the DelMonte house. Everything is uneventful until Deb arrives. The Del Monte brothers who are present are surprised and aggravated to see her. She notices and says she is only there to extend her sympathies.  They all pray and have fond memories of Agustín.

7. Upstairs, Tadeo asks his father  if he is sad. Pedro says no, he isn't and tells his son that sadness is like a wave, it might hit us but we can never let it drown us. (Not bad advice, if it weren't being given by a psycho)

8. Juan decides to bid farewell to Agustín with a round of applause that he will hear in heaven. Everyone applauds and as they stop Pedro comes down the stairs applauding to a beat all of his own. Adela goes after Pedro for being a hypocrite. She asks why he killed Agustín. He says she is accusing him of a crime he did not commit. Agustín was ill and they all knew that. Juan tries to "guide" Pedro out of the wake wake but Pedro is staying. Pedro says they ALL  are hurting over Agustín's death. He was a well-loved man. Pedro explains that Agustín said he was going home and suddenly he felt sick. According to the death certificate, he died from a massive heart attack. (Was there not a suspicious boot print on his clothing, chest or  neck?)  Are they going to now say that he changed the medical report?? Brayan accuses him of being capable of killing his grandfather. Pedro asks them if they are not tired of always blaming him for all of the unfortunate events that happen on the hacienda. Brayan punches Pedro in the face. Everyone rushes to keep Brayan and Pedro apart. Tadeo (maybe the kid's name is really Damian like in The Omen) that could have caused the heart attack.  Pedro agrees that  is the most logical conclusion. Pedro then  asks what would he expect  from a bunch of ignorant people anyway???  Juan asks him how dare he and tells him he doesn't have half the heart or decency that Agustín had. He orders Pedro out. Pedro wipes the blood off his lip and then licks the blood off his finger and leaves. Juan assures Adela that Pedro will not be bothering them again. Sara tries to calm them all down saying they have to remember the valuable things that Agustín left them. As things calm down, Deb starts to applaud. (monkey see, monkey do?) The all turn to look at her. As she sees Sara standing next to Adela, Deb says they they look like mother and daughter. (so what was that about??) Simón tells her to get out. She says you don't need an invitation to  a wake. She ends up  leaving  but not before taking a piece of pan dulce to eat along the way.

9. Lucas tells Juan that he thinks that Pedro had something to do with Agustín's death. They go to the closest open room which is Pedro's bedroom. Lucas plays the Pedro/Henry recording for Juan. Juan cannot believe how far Pedro has dared to go. Lucas tells him that they have to go to  the police before it is too late. Juan explains that he has Dante's laptop with a thumb drive that has a video. It was Dante's wish that all father bothers watch it together. He asks Lucas to send him the other audio files. (Uh, Duh, that was NO response to Lucas' request)

10. Pedro, Simón  and Mateo come in. Pedro demands to know what they are doing in his room. Lucas tries to make up an excuse but luckily Juan takes over saying that they were talking about making an insurance  payout to Agustín's family. They didn't want to talk about this in the hallway. Simón agrees saying even though Agustín no  longer worked for them, he was like family. Mateo agrees and  so does Pedro. Pedro hopes that his brothers do not believe that he killed Agustín. They don't, do they? His answer is silence.

11. Lucas and Juan are at Avocado Central rushing to Juan's office.  Of course, they have to run into the omnipresent Pedro who wants  to know why they are in such a rush. Juan explains that Lucas is going to be in charge of the payout to the family. Pedro says they can count on him if they need any help.  (Grrrreat! )

12.  Juan goes to his office and opens his safe. He finds nothing. The laptop and thumb drive are gone.  Juan calls in Bruno, his administrative assistant (who also happens to look pretty pasty to me), who has no idea who could have gotten into Juan's office since he is the only one who has the code for his door. He tells Bruno to get the recordings from the security cameras.

13. Pedro is in contact with a woman we saw only once before. (She came by the cantina and wanted to contract Bea and Paloma to perform at her club) She tells him that everything is ready to go. The girls are coming to sing at the event at the club. They already signed the contract. Pedro tells her not to fail him. She asks when has she ever done that?? She informs him  that everything is ready to take Cornelio out. She adds that the girls are bringing one more person with them, a Sara Del Monte.  Pedro smiles and laughs. He thinks that is even better yet!!! There is a change in plans. (Really???  Sara a target again??)

14. Juan finds out from security that the cameras in the vicinity of Juan's office have not been working ever since they partitioned off part of his office for Sara. He tells Bruno to get him a detailed report from the day the cameras were no longer working.

15. Simón appears and Juan asks if security ever let him know that the cameras were not working. Simón says they did. The cameras for Juan's office and the hallway were out of service. (Hmmm . . was there EVER a plan to have them working again??) Juan explains that somebody came into his office and opened his safe. Only the common area cameras were working so they have no idea who did it. Simón is overwhelmed by all of the problems. He tells them that he and Paloma are probably going to end up divorced. They do not understand each other. Juan says he has tried to stay out of his relationship with Paloma but he is going to tell him what he thinks because Simón matters to him. Paloma loves him and will never cheat on him but the way he is trying to control her is driving her away. Simón says he is only asking for respect, not controlling her. Lucas tells him that he is not respecting her from the moment he tells her what she can and cannot do. Juan tells him to think about what is it that makes him behave that way with her. Juan knows that Simón is smart and he is sure he knows the answer. Juan tells  both of them that they are in a difficult situation  right now and they do not want to make the same mistake that Pedro is making by pushing the people who love them away.

16. Juan calls Sara to tell her about the theft from his safe. They agree that it sounds like Pedro has to have an accomplice. They both wonder who. Sara thinks that Bruno is a loyal and decent guy.  Juan says he will send over some people to pick up all of her belongings and bring them to the hacienda. Sara is happy  going with Bea and Paloma to their performance. Juan is worried that something could happen to her. She tells him that Cornelio is coming with them. She will come directly to the hacienda after the performance. Sara is not happy about moving back to the hacienda but is happy they will be sleeping together tonight.

17. Prospi meets with all three daughter at the cantina. Juli tells them that her biological  father is Severiano but that Prospi is her real father. Prospi is pleased and breathes a sigh of  relief.

18. Deb meets with Pedro in his office. She has some very good news. His psychologist brother sued her. She went to give her statement to the police  and will only have to pay a fine because it was made clear that the one to blame was the deceased Dante. She asks how did Pedro kill him. Pedro is pleased to tell her that he  cut out his tongue and then he buried him for being a traitor. (Deb looks like she got more information than  she wanted) Deb says she doesn't believe him. Pedro says it is  good that she doesn't think he is that perverse. Deb thought that was some show he put on at the  wake. Pedro asks if she has some info for him or is just going to waste his time.  (Spill the tea, Deb!) Deb tells him he has a new little sister. It is Juli. She is Severiano's daughter. It looks like that stupid woman is going take everything from him. Pedro doesn't look like he is  happy with the news.

19. Pedro's contact introduces Bea and  Paloma to the crowd at the  club. The girls start to sing. Sara arrives and greets them all. Three men planted in the audience start shouting out rude comments to the girls. Hot-headed Simón cannot take it and starts a fight. In the melée, Sara gets knifed in the belly by a fourth guy. Simón is the first to notice the Sara is being attacked and goes to save her. All of the "plants" quickly leave the club. Sara is surrounded by Mateo,  Simón and Lucas as they wait for an ambulance to arrive.

20. Juli tells them that she and Sara are not sisters  because Sara is not Severiano's daughter. Sara didn't know anything.  Juli tells Prospi that she loves HIM  and goes to give him a big hug. He loves her, too. (I think I can see the mike in his ear feeding him his lines or he has a strange ear) Juli silently prays that God gives her the strength   to deal with everything that is going on. She doesn't want her family to suffer because of her.

21. Juan tells the security staff to call the company so they can take  responsibility for their mistake. At the same time, the brothers are with Sara. Simón is trying to stop Sara's bleeding. Lucas calls Juan and gives him the bad news. Juan leaves to be with Sara. Simón is telling her to hang on. He will not leave her alone. Pedro's contact looks on pleased with the results.

22. Pedro's contact calls him and tells him that the plan worked. The woman was mortally wounded.

23. The doctors admit Sara: a pregnant 30 year old woman wounded with a pointed weapon. Juan arrives and begs the doctor to save  both Sara and his child. The doctor will do his best. Simón explains to Juan that he started the fight (Why? What a dolt!) but rather than going after him, the guys went after Sara.

24. As the surgery continues, the doctors discuss how Sara is going to need a transfusion to avoid going into shock which could damage her heart and the baby.

25. A doctor tells the brothers that Sara is at risk for a miscarriage and they do not have her type of blood in their  blood bank. They are going to need a donor for Type O negative.  Simón tells them that is his blood type. Juan knows that Simón has had his problems with Sara, but he asks him to help her anyway. That is all Simón needs to hear and he is off to get tested.

26. In the operating room, the baby's heart stops beating.

27. Pedro arrives at the hospital feigning concern for Sara.

28. A doctor comes to get Juan.

29. Pedro asks where Simón is. Lucas tells him he is getting his blood tested to be able to donate blood. Sara and the baby are in danger. Pedro looks concerned. (or is it disappointed??)

30. As Juan and the doctor enter the recovery room, the  doctor tells Juan that Sara had a miscarriage.

31. They draw blood from Simón and in the next scene Sara is being transfused with his blood. He stands holding her hand and regret overwhelms him.  He asks himself why did they have to go through this. Sara is not  a bad woman. They met under circumstances that were not good for either of them. The irony of it all is that blood did end up uniting them anyway.

32. Juan is at Sara's bedside with Simón keeping them company.  Sara comes to and Juan asks  her how she is feeling. She is in a lot of pain and then asks about her baby. Juan has a hard time telling her that the doctor couldn't do anything. They lost the  baby. Sara falls apart. Simón is  visibly upset.

33. Back at Avocado Central,  Bruno (he really needs to get out in the  sun more) delivers the box with the laptop and thumb drive to Pedro. Pedro is one happy camper and tells Bruno that he can count on that raise. He is going to be his right hand man! He informs Bruno that he needs to remember that he Pedro is in charge of the security cameras. Bruno smiles in response.  Pedro opens up the box and finds what he was looking for.

34.  Sara keeps getting more and more upset as she thinks about her baby having died. Juan calls for the nurse. The doctor and nurse come in and give her something to calm her down.  As Sara is in a less agitated state, Juan is able to talk to her and tells her that they will go on. Sara says she  cannot bear what happened to their baby.  Juan says they have to be strong. She says she can't. He assures her that life has to be good to them. Their baby is a little angel who'll take care of them forever. Juan tells a visibly distraught Simón not to go because Sara needs to know what he did for them. Simón starts to cry as Juan tells Sara that Simón donated the blood that saved her life. Simón admits that when he saw her get stabbed, he realized how much danger they had exposed her to and how she had remained  by their side. His very soul aches knowing that she lost his nephew. When he saw her so close to death, he understood that they were the same. They weren't guilty for their past; they were only puppets like a lot of people. He doesn't want to fight anymore but to allow her to be happy at this brother's side. He asks Sara to forgive him. He does not care who her daddy is. He just wants to call her sister. Sara smiles and tells him he always has been her brother and always will.  As he keeps apologizing, she tells that him she needs something from him. She  needs a hug. They hug. She thanks him.

35. Deb is confronting Juan in the hallway saying she will never forgive him for not allowing her to see Sara. They put her in danger and now she lost he baby. Juan tells her that Sara is out of danger and is asleep. Well, Deb has something to tell him before she leaves. Her daughter cannot continue being the victim of so many attacks. The last time they almost killed her and now this. That piques Juan's attention. She continues to tell him that it was Pedro who was in cahoots with Henry to make sure Sara  got beat up the first time. Juan asks her to explain . Deb says  he heard her. His brother is a monster and the only one who doesn't want to see it is HIM!  (Wow! Even Deb is looking of an off ramp from the craziness) As Deb goes to  Sara's room, she turns around and tells Juan that if he really loves Sara, not to let things stand as they are. He needs to make sure that justice is done no matter how it affects his much adored brother Pedro. Juan and Simón are left staring at each other.

36 All of the brothers go to confront Pedro at Avocado Central.  Pedro meets them in the hallway and makes a big deal that the CEO of the company, the president has arrived. He asks Juan how the"little sick one" is doing.  He adds it must be such a disappointment  for Simón knowing that he gave blood to save the woman he hates so much. Juan steps forward and  tells Pedro that too many thing have happened for for him to look the other way any more. Pedro tells him to calm down and raises his voice saying there is evidently going to be more scandal here at the company. Crowds of employees gather to watch the  "show". Pedro accuses him of having joined forces with Henry to see that Sara was beaten. Pedro says as far as he can figure out, he is still being framed. (Poor baby!!) Juan takes a step forward and calls Pedro a coward. Pedro addresses the crowd saying that it isn't right for a CEO to react violently.  He asks that Simón provide their president with some intensive therapy. Pedro changes his mind and tells him to wait on that. Simón is even worse because he ended up being the hero. Juan punches Pedro. Pedro tries to punch back but not a punch lands as Juan gets in another good punch to his ribs. The brothers separate them. Pedro is in pain but still is smirking.

37. Back at the cantina, a clearly agitated Modesto is delivering  Tadeo to Bea and Cornelio. Tadeo complains wanting to be only with his daddy Pedro. (Aww! Brat!) Modesto could not care less. Sal tells him to take it easy. Modesto  cannot stay quiet any longer. Juan and the police need to know all about what happened. He turns and leaves Sal with his mouth open.

38. Lucas is all ready to play the recording of Pedro with Henry when Pedro asks what is he going to show?? That his older brother Juan took the company to the brink of bankruptcy?? (uh, maybe things would have been different if Pedro had not drained off lucrative clients to his own Campo Verde??? just saying) Pedro has an announcement  to make and wants everyone to listen.  Pedro ascends the stairs to the balcony and asks them all to applaud Juan the president for taking the company to the brink of bankruptcy. Suddenly, Simón notices on his phone that somebody has just acquired a large amount of their stock on the stock market. Who bought the shares? A triumphant Pedro laughs and bows taking credit for the purchase.  This time,  they do not need the advisory  council to vote on the president of the company. He goes on to say he bought the Del Monte company and he is going to merge it with his own Campo Verde company. So how do they like that (them apples)?  He asks them to greet the new president of the Campo Verde-Del Monte Company.

39. Juli comes in clueless wondering what is going on. Pedro says although she has nothing to do there, he is welcoming her to the "family meeting".  Mateo informs her that Pedro is now the owner of everything.  In disgust, Juan asks Pedro if this is how he pays back his own family??? He adds that  their father was always right about him. Juan is happy that all of the masks are gone. Lucas tells Juan to tell Pedro everything  that they know. Pedro has to laugh at  that comment. Juan says he knew it would come to this and that is why he took precautions. If Pedro wants to know what it is to be president of the company, he is going to know and it is going to be nothing like he imagines it to be. Simón asks why Juan didn't tell them anything. Juan says because life lessons hurt more when they are a surprise.  Pedro continues to mock them from on high. Mateo tells him he will end up all alone. Simón says he placed his ambition before the love  he never had for them anyway.  Lucas is forgetting he ever was his brother. Pedro asks if they are done with their "sermons." Pedro  insists that he saved the company and they do not even realize it.  He would expect them to be thanking him but there is only silence.

40. Deb is at Sara's bedside. As Deb goes on about how worried she was about her, etc., all Sara can do is ask where Juan is.  Deb explains that Juan went to make sure that Pedro faced justice for all he has done. She also has news for Sara. Juli is the offspring of Severiano. Sara looks disgusted by the very idea. Deb adds that she  and Juli will be half-sisters very soon. (really??) Sara looks sickened by that  idea. (or maybe her mother)

41. Simón calls Pedro a traitor.  Pedro tells him he just chose the losing team. They will all  be apologizing on their knees to him for having underestimated him. They all should be thanking him for rescuing the company from the state their illustrious San Juan left it. Juan pities him for how blind is. Pedro tells him that his Dante was a genius. He laid it all out for him. Too bad he is still on vacation. He forgot to give him a bonus for his productivity. Juan says he still thinks that he had something to do with Dante's disappearance.  Juli calls Pedro a nasty piece of work. Pedro is surprised that the very "decent "Juli has spoken up. Mateo tells him to leave her alone or he will smash his face in.  Pedro has an announcement about Juli that she will not make herself.  She is Severiano's daughter by blood. They all turn to stare at Juli!!!!

Jarifa - thank you for this stellar recap & snark, and *all* the other recaps you have given us. I love the guacamole idea and will definitely have some on hand for the Gran/Por Fin finale.

I particularly liked your comment about Deb looking for an off-ramp from the craziness. LOL! She is a pathological liar but not (AFAIK) a killer.

Pedro just becomes more disgusting and nauseating every day/episode.

Leave it to Deb and Pedro to ruin Augustín's funeral. Ugh.

The employees got their daily floor show at Avocado Central. Good grief.

It was so shocking when Sara was stabbed at the cantina. That was truly cringe-worthy. And then she lost her baby. Cara de impactada on this viewer!
- Has that ever happened before in a telenovela??? It was a first for me.

Bruno the double-crosser/double-agent for Pedro really caught me off guard. Wow. Just ... wow. I guess Bea will have to break up with him.

We all knew someone would steal that laptop & USB stick. Will we ever know what it had on it?

Well, two more episodes until these people are out of my life. (lol)

Jarifa,

You conveyed all of the suspenseful, surprising and truly horrifying events perfectly. Your ability to accurately and brilliantly surmise exactly what occurred is incredible.

Favorites included “Everyone applauds and as they stop Pedro comes down the stairs applauding to a beat all of his own” and “a pasty hand of a man.”

Your powers of deduction were on full display “(Was there not a suspicious boot print on his clothing, chest or neck?)”.

I could not fathom how Simon could possibly be redeemed. Very clever writers – blood is indeed the tie that binds. I am so sorry Sara lost the baby. I hope Pedro roasts in hell for eternity.

Loved the all white flowers in honor of Augustin. Rest in peace.

Bruno aiding Pedro was a surprise. If he is dating Bea, this may clear the way for somewhat of a reconciliation with Cornelio (not romantic but better co-parenting after (hopefully) Pedro joins his not so dear mama).

Juli has received forgiveness from everyone, but she has not a drop to share with her mother?

“Sara standing next to Adela, Deb says they they look like mother and daughter. (so what was that about??)” Yes, what a very odd thing to say…

Crossing my fingers that Pedro does not kill or hurt anyone else. Basta.

"I particularly liked your comment about Deb looking for an off-ramp from the craziness. LOL! She is a pathological liar but not (AFAIK) a killer." I agree doris and your assessment of Deb was very insightful.

So Juan did take “precautions” with the business. I can’t wait to see what happens.

Jarifa, it has been a pleasure. Gracias amiga.

Diana

Jarifa - thank you for all the hard work you put into recapping this show! You and Adriana took the lion's share of this and all those double episodes and did it with such flair and humor! I love your humor and your whit and each recap and note from the couch brought the show to life and elaborated on every detail! Thank you amiga!

Bea can pick them, can't she??? First a wife beater, then a woman-hating psychopath and now her new boo is a fink!! A corporate espinage psycho-aligned turn coat!! If I was her, I would let Sara choose my next boyfriend. I was going to say Sara and Paloma but well Paloma chose Simon, so....

I loved your comment about Tadeo and Damian - I never saw The Omen but I can imagine - it's scary creepy how quickly Tadeo was manipulated be daddy. I don't think the kid himself is evil or wicked but you can clearly see how life would go if he remained at daddy's side. Pedro would develop a budding psychopath no doubt. Hopefully Tadeo will be removed permanently from daddy's influence in time to escape long term psychological damage. I still say Pedro never truly loved even Tadeo, if he did he would shield him from the ugliness instead of encouraging him to name his robot after the 'little dead guy'.

Sara losing the baby was so sad and surprising to me. I figured at least the protag would be spared from such a horrific blow especially two episodes from the Gran Fin. Simon donating the blood that saved her life was sappy and appropriately ironic. They say O negative is the rarest blood type but most of the people I know have it, so I am not sure I believe them.

Well we are almost at the end and so much still left to tie up. Can't wait to see what mess there is for me to recap tonight! lol It should be fun.

Great job, Jarifa, and gracias to the three of you for tackling the recapping of this story. You have all been pros at it.

Juli: Everything she told Rosa was right on. What Rosa did was selfish and hurtful to their entire family. What she didn't say was that she herself would have been a different person if Rosa had not favored her for being Severiano's child.

Pedro: This act he pulled over the dead Augustin didn't fool anyone there. His hostilities toward the Cruz family were well-known. Nor did he fool anyone at the wake; he was a total hypocrite. His later grandstanding at the office was disgusting and all the witnesses should be updating their resumes and getting the hell out of there. It's obvious he had deliberately sabotaged the security cameras. He is also obviously responsible for what happened in the club. I hope those thugs get caught.

Deborah: She had some gall showing up at the wake when she had done nothing but insult this family all through the story and was no longer welcome at the hacienda for more reasons way beyond that. Taking the pan dulce before anyone else took any food was the act of a human vulture. Having said that, her shot in the dark hit the bull's eye and yes, that was more than she wanted to know. Now she needs to be more afraid of Pedro. However, she is equally responsible for deceiving Sara into believing that Severiano was her father when Dante was. She also put Julieta in his sights as a possible victim. Her words to Juan -- while true -- do not get her off the hook. Sara would not have been in danger if she had not lied about her paternity in the first place.

Juan: Should have listened to Lucas and should have taken better precautions about the laptop and flash drive. However, he now knows that Sara has been a target all along.

Simon: Miraculous redemption.

Bruno: How was he so easily bribed by Pedro after witnessing more than one fist fight in the office?

Modesto: Finally delivering Tadeo to safe hands, but why didn't he take his brother aside about the situation? I am shocked that Salvador still has customers with all the violence and dangerous information going on his his saloon.

More later.

Oh, one more thing:

I googled blood types and O- is rare in Mexico at 2.73% of the population. AB- is the rarest at .08%. All Rh- is rarer in Mexico than in the USA; O- is 6.6% in the USA.

Thanks, Jarifa. You title is lol. Muchísimas gracias for this and all your superb recaps. I can’t say enough about how much I enjoyed them. You are a talented writer and we have been so lucky to be treated night after night to your prose. My faves for today's recap:

Pedro’s shifty eyes just keep on shifting.

(Wow! Even Deb is looking of an off ramp from the craziness)

Maybe Deb is taping her conversations with Pedro?

Everybody's obviously too busy with Big Gran Final issues, but that restaurant/nightclub should get sued. A venue that large should've had a security team to prevent trouble or at least catch the guy that knifed Sara by the time he got to the parking lot (like in Road House). I assume Pedro's accomplice made sure that didn't happen. If Cornelio wants to be Bea and Paloma's agent, he should ensure security is in the contract.

I'm sure Bea figured picking a pasty-face blah guy would mean no drama the likes of Cornelio and Pedro. Poor thing. Wondering how long pasty has been Pedro's fink.

Looking forward to Juan's surprise. I'm thinking he moved the real company's assets to a different entity (unattached subsidiary or something) and whatever Pedro purchased is an empty shell or consists only of debt.

Sara and Simón getting and giving blood. I was moved by the two of them together. I credit the acting.

Jarifa, thanks so much for all your insightful recaps. They are often much more enjoyable than the actual show! I didn’t realize Pedro told Deb how he killed Dante and where the body is. Since Deb knew Pedro wanted to get rid of Sara’s baby shouldn’t she suspect him!

Not much happiness in this episode, I never expected Sara to lose the baby. And Bea dating another loser.

At least Prosero has the love of his daughters and Simon and Sara now share blood. And I think Juan may have convinced him he’s been the problem in the marriage.

So much to tie up and only 2 episodes to do it!

Liz

Jarifa, this has been such a fun journey, I never really expected to like it so much. Recapping is always a joy for me, but this novela has somehow managed to bring together a bunch of unlikable and/ or uninteresting characters and create an exciting story. Thank you for hanging in there, especially during those double whammies that had as schedule our lives around "who does how many episodes this week" kind of talks. Great stuff!

Thinks are moving at breakneck speed, which is normal, but nothing, and I do mean NOTHING, is solved.

Doris, I didn't anticipate the baby's death either, it's rare to have the protas lose their unborn child so close to the Fin. Good for the show for having the guts to go there, even if Juan and Sara get their happy ending, losing their first child together is a sign that even in novelas everything is not always tied up with a bow.

Diana, I kind of liked the twist with Simon donating blood to Sara. From all the brothers, he will be the one with actual blood ties to her. Sure, that doesn't make them biologically related, but the symbolims is nice.

Niecie, Juan has always seemd to be two steps ahead of Pedro when it came to business, because he is the far superior business man. Too bad he doens't have a criminal bone in his body, he might have been able to prevent some of Pedro's crimes, too.

Liz, if Simon managed to get over his Sara hatred, I'm sure he will all of a sudden think that Paloma being a lawyer is great. And hey, the company needs a new attorney, he and Paloma might share an office, like Sara and Juan do (sort of).

Urban, the cantina still being open with all the constant drama is a miracle. Just like the fact that everybody hasn't quit the company so far, as the owners have been fighting and switching wifes and girlfriends non-stop for months now.

Darcy, you took the words out of my mouth with your description of Bea's choice in men. LOL! I guess that means she and Corni will give it another go, if for nothing else, then to share costs for Tadeo's many years of therapy to come.

"I'm sure Bea figured picking a pasty-face blah guy would mean no drama the likes of Cornelio and Pedro. Poor thing" said it all Niecie!! Who'd have thought it? I was definitely hoodwinked myself. Ack.

I wish I were better at figuring things out. This came out of left field as did a great deal of what transpired.

I expect tonight to be equally edgy. Things ususally don't settle down until 15 minutes before FIN flashes.

Diana

doris, " Has that ever happened before in a telenovela??? It was a first for me." I have never seen that before but I have not seen as many novelas as most of you.

Diana, "So Juan did take “precautions” with the business. I can’t wait to see what happens." I am eager to see what those precautions were and what the implications are.

Niecie, I like your idea: "Looking forward to Juan's surprise. I'm thinking he moved the real company's assets to a different entity (unattached subsidiary or something) and whatever Pedro purchased is an empty shell or consists only of debt."

Darcie, "Simon donating the blood that saved her life was sappy and appropriately ironic." They sure rehabilitated his character and put a nice bow on it! At least we won't have to be worried about him too much in the last two episodes.

Urban, "Taking the pan dulce before anyone else took any food was the act of a human vulture." Perfection!!!

Adriana, yes, those double episodes almost did me in but we made it through! 80 episodes is a good length. You are so right that NOTHING has been solved yet and Pedro is off his leash, so to speak. I wonder if he will end up dead or in prison.

I was really surprised that Pedro was behind that woman setting up the performance for Bea and Paloma. I never thought we would see her again after her cantina appearance. It also was interesting that they evidently had done other "business" together before.

Jarifa, thanks so much for your time, talent , and effort to bring us fantastic accounts of this novela. I hope that you celebrate the finale with a couple new throw pillows for the couch and some tasty snacks.

Well, when the show started , I was excited about the ranch, horses, avocado trees, and familiar faces . Little did we know what a wild ride it would be . It was worth it for the avocado art alone . I enjoyed seeing what avocado trees look like and the way the avocados hang from the trees by those long stems . I find myself pausing and staring at the little avocados in my local grocery store even when I dont buy any.

I hate storylines with women losing babies . It is an awful experience that colors one's whole life . I was shocked when Sara was stabbed but thought the baby would be miraculously saved . I guess sometimes miracles aren't available even in telenovelas . The writers want to keep the angst and violence going to the very end.

Deb " looking for the offramp for the crazy"...wow ( to use Pedro's favorite saying lately ) That belongs on the side bar. I have to admit that I, too, would like an offramp to the crazy.

Deb grabbing that big pastry was so absolutely petty and childish . It completely symbolized Deb in a delicious nutshell. Yum . Now I wish I had bought that Entemanns cheese danish that I resisted at the grocery store .

Well, I had a feeling that Corndog was being groomed for redemption as Pedro got crazier and Corn slowly simmered down.

Susanlynn, the Entenmann’s sounds like it would have been delish! I just watched the latest ”La Reina del Sur” and now will be looking for some tasty dinner couch-side. I bought two avocados today but they still need to ripen. “The writers want to keep the angst and violence going to the very end.” You can sure say that again. Maybe they will give us 5 minutes of a happy ending . . If we are lucky. ; )
