La Herencia # 79, Friday, 10/21/2022, La Fiesta de Santa Catalina!
Alright my friends grab on to your beanies!!! And I do mean pull down tight and hold on for dear life!! 😊 I tried to capture it all but there was so much going on in this episode that I may have missed something. Please please, feel free to add anything I’ve missed!
As soon as Juan is gone Pedro calls out for security. He’s done playing with his hermanitos at least for now, he wants these men escorted out of HIS company! They are never to be allowed in again.
The wicked witch is visiting Sara and Sara isn’t in the mood for mommy’s drama, she asks her to leave. Deb doesn’t want to leave Sara and besides Juan asked her not to (I doubt it). Sara wants to know what’s going on between Juan and Pedro but Deb hesitates to tell her. Sara begs and Deb admits the Juan believes Pedro may have been involved with Henry in the prior attack on Sara’s life. Sara silently prays to God that Juan and Pedro won’t keep fighting because she doesn’t want things to get worse. (this feels like a very odd thought to have at this particular time)
Now, alone with the famous laptop Pedro decides he’s going to find out what information Dante had to share with Juan and he boots up the video. Dante starts out his talk by addressing himself to Juan, Simon, Mateo and Lucas and this is odd because his instructions were for Juan to watch with ALL his brothers, he didn’t say to exclude Pedro. But his words make it clear the exclusion is necessary as he tells the brothers they need to get away from Pedro because he is very dangerous. He asks for forgiveness for everything and declares this is his confession! We don’t hear anymore than that but Pedro decides he should have cut out Dante’s tongue sooner.
Juan has come to see his lady love and he sits by her bedside as she sleeps. When she awakens, she wants to know what happened with Pedro but Juan suggests they discuss it later she needs to rest. Sara lets him know she knows Juli is a Del Monte and she feels like Juli needs all their love and support because she has suffered so much and Juan thinks that Deb was a little imprudent for telling Sara about Juli but he agrees they all need to support Juli! (I’m not even going to say WTH! My beanie is on and I’m all for it, everyone hug Juli!)
Rosa is all dressed up, headed for the door, and actually looking elegant telling Berta and Alondra that it doesn’t matter if Prospi won’t forgive her she still has to tell him she loves him. She doesn’t get far however; because Prospi is walking in as she speaks. He’s come with a bottle of wine and Alondra is concerned that he’s drinking but Prospi says it’s just a bottle he bought a while ago to celebrate that he and Rosa were renewing their vows and he had forgotten it in the trunk (now we know where Prospi’s mystery wine purchase got to). Berta gives Alondra a pointed look and they vamos quickly leaving Rosa and Prospi alone. Prospi is looking very glumly at that bottle of wine in his hand and Rosa can’t help but ask him: Is everything really lost?
Sara now dreaming has visions of a woman she probably never met – Catalina – telling her everything is going to be okay. Catalina says life never gave her the opportunity to be a mother and now Sara’s baby, her grandchild, is in heaven with her flying with the angels. She tells Sara it is okay to feel pain and she can cry all night but, in the morning, she has to find the strength to move on and Sara and Juan can count on each other and the strength of their love to get through this. The pain of losing the child will always be there but life will bring joys as well.
Modesto approaches Juan in the waiting area and Juan cries as
he tells Modesto that Pedro took his company from him. His own brother did
that. Modesto says there’s some hard truths about Pedro none of them have
wanted to face but it’s time. He FINALLY tells Juan that Pedro killed their
mother!! He says he’s ready to go to the cops but first he had to tell JUAN, of
course! He tells him how it was done, that he witnessed it and where Aurora is
buried; we get all these lovely flashbacks of Aurora’s end as he spills the
tea! He also tells him Pedro had threatened his family to keep him silent.
Prospi seems to have abandoned the idea of throwing Rosa out of the house, as he instead tells her he’s going on a trip. He needs to clear his head and start over. Rosa is clearly sad but she accepts his decision, she’d like to stop him but she can’t. Rosa mentions Juli is going to marry Mateo and Prospi acknowledges it’s time to let Juli make her own decisions. If she truly loves Mateo, she’ll be happy and if not it’s her mistake to make. Rosa has one request of Prospi, before he leaves to start his new life, will he walk with her to the street where he first asked her to be his girlfriend?? (Prospi doesn’t answer but it looks like he’s weakening to me...pretty sure Rosa could turn on the seduction right about now and get her man back in a snap!)
Adela arrives at the hospital and Juan asks her to stay with Sara please, and make sure no one enters the room, not even Deb!!! He and Modesto take off.
Next, we see the whole family rush out to a now full-blown dig site. They are looking in the area that Modesto told Juan the body was buried and judging from the way everyone is holding their noses the death smell is in full effect. (And when I say the whole family I mean, Simon, Lucas, Mateo, Paloma, AND Juli are all out there! Just when I thought all these people liked Juli more than I do, they prove they in fact don’t by taking a pregnant brain cancer patient out to dig up dead bodies. Seriously how dumb can you be? Especially the supposedly in love Mateo.) and Simon tells everyone Juan is on his way and that they are trying to get this done without Pedro finding out. He warns everyone to stay away from Pedro. The police are on the way too and they all – minus the women – start digging, they are going to take back Santa Catalina! They can’t let all these strange things keep happening.
Tadeo flashes back to overhearing Modesto say that he can’t believe a son he raised has grown up to be a murderer and he’s going to report him to the police. Tadeo calls daddy on his hidden phone to warn him Modesto is planning to report him. He asks daddy to come pick him up at the bar. Pedro is pissed and tells Tadeo no worries, he’s on his way and they are going to leave together. Pedro quickly grabs a bunch of money and other stuff from his safe and packs it into a bag. Bruno enters looking dumb and confused and Pedro tells him to destroy the laptop and the folders on his desk, and all the stuff that incriminates him. He has to leave the country! He tells him to do what he says and he’ll be handsomely rewarded. He hands him a couple stacks of cash for emphasis. That sounds perfect to Bruno and he gazes lovingly at the dinero in his hands.
These brilliant-minded people (ie. Hermanos Del Monte) even have Dulce and Brandon out there enjoying an afternoon at the body dig!!! (I call child abuse!) And Simon is even digging shirtless?? I like gratuitous shirtlessness as much as the next girl, but that’s a little unsettling given the circumstances although now that I think of it, Pedro buried mommy shirtless too, maybe it’s appropriate after all. The body is located and the police and Juan arrive. Juan confirms that it is indeed Aurora and Modesto tells the officers he was a witness and will testify to what he saw. But wait!!! A second body has been found by the dogs – and the child observers!!!
Pedro shows up at the bar and the gloves are off now, folks; because as soon as Corni tells Pedro he can take Tadeo over his dead body; Pedro says as you wish! He takes out his gun and shoots him!!! (No more mask of innocence! We are now shooting people in rooms full of witnesses.) Pedro would be happy to kill him as he should have in the beginning but Tadeo stops him and stands in front of Corni. He asks daddy to please not kill him, let’s just leave! They leave together and Bea is left to scream after her son. Corni was shot in the leg, he’ll likely survive this.
Mateo is now comforting Juli in the living room because apparently the time to worry about the health and stress level of your pregnant fiancée is AFTER you take her out for an afternoon body dig. He tells her that he knows the day’s events have been distressing but she has to take care of herself for the baby’s sake (I can’t with this fool, someone grab me a tighter beanie) He doesn’t want her to lose the baby like Sara did. Juli doesn’t want that either. They kiss and agree to take care…Simon, Juan and Lucas descend the staircase and Simon is informing everyone that the bodies have been positively identified as Dante and Aurora. Juan gets a phone call from Mendez (the cop) informing him that Pedro isn’t in the office but they did find his accomplice!!! Juan has the phone on speaker so everyone gets the news together that Bruno was Pedro’s accomplice! There is some luck though, they got there before Bruno could destroy the evidence so they have the laptop, the folders, and even the cell phone videos!! (Bruno has got to be in the running for stupidest accomplice to a crime ever) Mendez needs someone to come to the station immediately to take their statement. Juan says one of the brothers will come right away.
That might have to wait though because Pedro has arrived – in
his three-piece business suit, with Tadeo holding one hand and a gun in the
other! It is an odd visual, I’m sorry but it is. He is glad they are
all there including his new ‘hermanita’! Pedro hasn’t lost any of his sardonic
humor as he tells Juan that he isn’t his brother since he chose all of the rest
of them and he only stopped by to kill them all. Mateo wants Pedro to let go of
Tadeo – who doesn’t look nearly scared enough BTW. Juan accuses Pedro of killing
both Dante and Aurora; and Pedro doesn’t deny it, they deserved it they were traitors!!
Juan says it’s Pedro’s fault he lost his child and he’ll never forgive him for
that. Pedro doesn’t seem to care and he
shoots Juan (in the shoulder it looks like) Simon and Lucas go to Juan while Mateo
shields Juli. Juli calls out that Pedro is going to pay for all the damage he
has done to everyone and Pedro tells her to shut up! He informs her she will be
the one to pay – with her life! He asks her if she has told everyone yet, that
she was the one who let the horse escape that could’ve killed Sara? Juli doesn’t
answer but Pedro assures Juli the inheritance will never be hers or anyone else’s;
Tadeo will be the ONLY heir!!!
Juli says she regrets what she did and she will be paying for it with her life. Pedro says very well, let me help you out with that. He goes to shoot but Tadeo finally reacts to what is happening and begs daddy not to do it. The shot goes off, but it goes wide since Tadeo pushed Pedro’s arm. He breaks free from daddy and goes to huddle with his uncles. Simon stands up to confront Pedro but Pedro just takes a couple more shots in the air and then runs off – this is the most anti-climatic ending to what felt like a ‘Pedro’s last stand’ moment, but perhaps he’ll reschedule? Tadeo is left to scream after Pedro asking him not to leave him?? (This child needs therapy stat!)
Adela is with Sara trying to comfort her as she tells her how sad she is for the loss of her baby. Deb arrives and Adela is all prepared to go full amazon to keep Deb out as Juan ordered but Sara stops her. She needs to talk to mommy. Adela agrees to wait outside and Deb goes to hug and kiss Sara but Sara doesn’t reciprocate. Sara doesn’t know if Deb’s affection was ever real or just manipulation. They both cry and this is very much the last goodbye conversation as both ladies understand Deb is being banished from Sara’s life. Deb states that hurting Sara is the ONLY thing she can’t forgive herself for. The ladies hug and cry some more but Sara turns away and Deb reluctantly leaves revealing a fierce Adela waiting outside the door as she opens it.
Juli asks everyone for forgiveness and to her credit she doesn’t blame the brain tumor but actually takes responsibility for letting her jealousy and hatred get out of control. Mateo idiotically insists Pedro is the only one guilty and even yells at Juan for reproaching Juli because she feels bad! (I swear this guy had appeared to grow a brain in the last week or so but he must have returned it to whomever he borrowed it from cuz it’s one moronic thing after another now) Juan is rightfully upset that Juli tried to kill his love and could have killed his child and he reasonably enough thinks she should feel bad since she DID a whole bunch of horrible things just because of her stupid jealousy. Simon and Paloma run in informing everyone that Pedro escaped and the guards are dead! This calls everyone back to action they have to stop Pedro before he doesn’t something worse. Juan orders everyone to stay in the house and not take their eyes of Tadeo as he gets ready to go out in pursuit. Paloma and Simon think Juan should do something more practical like go to the hospital and get that gun shot looked at but our galan isn’t going to let a silly thing like a bullet to the shoulder slow him down, no sir ee!
Lucas takes Tadeo to the kitchen and leaves him there while he goes to the living room for a minute. Tadeo does exactly what we all knew he would and calls daddy crying. He’s all alone, where is daddy? Why did he abandon him? He’s all alone and he wants to be with daddy. (So scary, Tadeo is surrounded by family who loves him and feeling all alone? And even after seeing Pedro shoot several people, including people he loved Tadeo is still desperate to be with him!) Pedro tells Tadeo is back to where this all started – and he does appear to be in his childhood home. One day Tadeo will understand, Tadeo is what Pedro most loves in this world. He is going to return for him soon and they will never be apart again! Tadeo needs to make sure no one finds out about their phone calls. Tadeo cries and Pedro himself is looking pretty unhinged.
Juli comes to visit Sara at the hospital and apparently her five minutes of punishment is up because Juan has no objections to leaving Juli alone with Sara to chat! Juli tells Sara she is sorry she lost the baby, she confesses to the horse incident and says she regrets it. She again takes responsibility and her apology seems genuine. Sara says she’s made mistakes too and viewerville has to wonder what ruler Sara is using if she thinks whatever she’s done is awash with attempted murder, faked paternity shot-gun wedding and avocado-cide. These two ladies make up with a hug and cling to each other and cry and this miraculous redemption is stretching the lengths of which my beanie is willing to travel… Sigh
Days later
The family – minus Pedro who is still missing – is gathered in the study to watch the Dante confession. Dante says this video is so they can use it as proof for the police. Dante tells them all about Pedro stealing from the company and not for the good intentions he had claimed but from ambition and greed. He talks about Pedro’s deals with Henry and admits that he too was involved because of his own ambition and greed. They talk about the plan to take the presidency from Juan and we see Pedro’s spy, um I mean Tadeo, is listening in as well. Dante confesses that Pedro promised him the Refuge of Santa Catalina in payment – someone should make a list of who wasn’t promised that refuge!! It’s a short list
Pedro is alone and eating a bread roll which is just creepy. He throws a tea pot and looks long and hard at his gun, even points it at himself.
Dante admits he made up the charities and he intended to launder the money from the inheritance and keep it himself. He admits Deb was part of this plan and they plotted together to make sure each brother lost his inheritance. (I’m pretty sure he also said that even though he plotted with Deb he hadn’t intended to actually share the money with her in the end, but I might have misunderstood that) He talks about how he used Lucas’s mother and Mateo’s alcoholism to get them out of the house. The brothers beg Juan to turn it off as they don’t want to hear anymore. Sara is very upset as well knowing this is what her own parents have done, she gets up to comfort Lucas who is upset all over again about his mom.
Tadeo makes the anticipated phone call and Pedro tells him tonight is the night. Pack a bag and wait you know where because tonight I am coming for you.
Back to the study and Lucas is ready to watch the rest of the
video. Simon asks Sara if she’s heard from Deb but she hasn’t. Not since the
hospital. Sara believes her mother probably left the country. Juan says the
police are looking for her.
Back to Dante’s confession and next he admits he killed Henry!! Because he hurt his daughter!!! That’s right Sara is HIS daughter! Sara starts crying again and Simon takes her hand and reminds her that they are not guilty or responsible for past. Juan stops the video again and says they should finish later. Simon wants to know where the money from the ‘charities’ is and who has it: Dante? Or Pedro? But not to worry, because the correct answer is Juan!!! Juan discovered the fake charities awhile ago and he has already recovered the money. He plans to return it to Lucas and Mateo. There’s more good news too and exact financial terminology is outside of my Spanish vocab but the gist is Juan anticipated what was going to happen so when Campo Verde popped up he bought a bunch of shares of stock in the company with his own money. As profits took a dive in one company they skyrocketed in the other and thus evened out (I think). Thus, they still have to figure out what to do with Campo Verde but the family business is solvent and in tack!!! Three cheers for Juan!!! All the family is thrilled of course and even Juan has a face-splitting grin in celebration!
The big night has arrived and Pedro is now in the shadowy house gun drawn. We see everyone is getting ready to go to bed and Pedro is stalking the shadows.
At the same time at the downtown bar, Corni, Bea, Adela and Sal just happen to be suddenly realizing how odd it is that Tadeo doesn’t seem to be acting as if he doesn’t know where his father is…could he be still talking to Pedro somehow?
The family is in the living room talking about being worried that
Pedro is still missing. They searched the whole property and Pedro is no where to
be found so that should give them some relief (LOL). Juan suggests they should
all get some rest and the men head off but Sara just wants to go get a glass of
water, she’ll meet Juan upstairs.
**Just a note, it’s really weird in this scene that we see all the family has just left the study where they had their meeting and everyone is still wearing the same clothing, except for Simon who is suddenly/oddly in shorts and a t-shirt, I wonder if that was a production error.
Sara goes into the kitchen and runs right into Pedro’s gun. He cold-clocks her and drags her off. Mateo goes to look for Tadeo but can’t find him. He tells Juan and Juan immediately thinks Sara. They run for the kitchen and find Sara gone and blood on the floor. Phone rings and it’s Pedro calling, surprise, surprise. He’s in the torture chamber, though he doesn’t give the location to his brothers; and he has Sara AND JULI! He says if they call the cops he will kill their ladies – Pedro is playing with the gun to his own head the whole time he’s mocking his brothers. Mateo says to leave Juli alone, she’s pregnant! But Pedro repeats his threat of taking care of her to assure Tadeo’s place as the only heir of Del Monte. Pedro says he’s been fighting his brothers all his life but now he’s going to show them they shouldn’t have underestimated him! Juan offers him all the money he wants in exchange for the ladies but Pedro doesn’t want money. He wants his brothers! The brothers DelMonte in exchange for their ladies. The guys agree and Pedro says he’ll call them in the morning and tell them where to meet and they better not call the police! If they call the cops, they’ll find themselves crying in front of several tombs.
Juan and the others assumed Pedro had Tadeo too, but it looks like they are wrong because Tadeo is standing outside by himself, with his suitcase, starring at his phone wondering where daddy is. Now if it were me and a psychopath forgot to come pick me up, I’d be grateful. But Tadeo is definitely not that. He feels abandoned and betrayed! He calls Pedro and gets his voicemail. He leaves him a crying/yelling message saying he hates him. He throws the phone and runs off – the struggle is real ya’ll.
Back in the living room, the Del Monte brothers are arguing
about what to do next. Lucas thinks they should call Mendez but Juan says no
because Pedro said not to call the cops. Simon says they should stop standing
around and go look for Pedro but Juan thinks they need to think and form a
plan. They are only going to win by outsmarting Pedro.
Bea and Co interrupt this futile moment by rushing in to see Tadeo but they are told that Pedro took him, since no one knows any better. Adela lets the guys in on their theory that Tadeo has remained in contact with Pedro since he seems unaffected by his ’absence’ and Mateo decides the discuss is over. He gets out his phone and places the call to Mendez telling him everything before any of his brothers can say otherwise. Juan and Simon are upset but Lucas thinks Mateo made the right call. Mateo says he’s not just going to sit around and wait for Pedro to kill his woman and his child.
Tadeo is still alone, and in the town square?? I wonder how he got there. He’s crying out to Pedro wondering where he is but he encounters a different type of monster instead. That’s right folks, Miss Deb is still in the country and she feigns concern for Tadeo being out all alone. Tadeo tells Deb the whole plan and admits that he was waiting for Pedro because they were going to be going far far away with his Aunt Sara! Deb tells Tadeo not to worry and just excuse her for one little second. She walks off a bit and leaves Pedro a voice message straight to the point: Don’t you dare touch Sara because I have Tadeo!
The next morning, the police and everyone are all gathered ready to trace Pedro’s call. Rosa and Prospi are there together with Alondra and Jessica – which I thought was weird until I remembered Juli is missing too. Rather than calling Pedro sends a voice message. He knows they called the cops and he guesses now he’ll have to kill Sara and Juli before they can rescue them! Yada Yada – I’m evil and the police can’t stop me – Yada. Until he gets to the point, if you still want to exchange your lives for their’s meet me at the cabin our father had, but you better come alone because if I see a cop you’ll find the Senoras Del Monte tortured!!
As soon as the message is over Mendez and his men are ready to jump. Juan tries to stop them but Mendez says they are the police and they know what to do in this situation. They need to leave this to them. The cops leave and the brothers quickly follow.
Pedro walks into the torture shake where we see Sara and Juli are tied on each side of what looks like a fire chimney. Pedro tells them it looks like the brothers aren’t going to exchange their lives for them after all so he’ll let them decide, how would they like to die? He poisoned his mother and he cut Dante’s tongue out. Which one would they like? It probably doesn’t occur to Mr. Psycho that they couldn’t answer even if they wanted to because they are gagged.
Adela finds Tadeo’s thrown phone in the courtyard and she along with Prospi and family quickly realize they have the means of Pedro and Tadeo’s communication. Juan and the guys are about to get in their cars when Juan remembers Pedro’s words about finding the ladies tortured, he flashes back to Pedro’s playing ‘Pedro the Torturer’ and he realizes his brother is still at the hacienda!! He tells his brothers Pedro is still here.
We get a last glimpse of Pedro playing with his food, ie.
Juli and Sara. He lets out a demonic laugh and declares ‘Let the Party at
Santa Catalina begin’

Back to LRTL.
At least, the excavation of the graves was realistic.
It drove me crazy every time Pedro paused the Dante video.
Hey, Deb might be the hostage negotiator that solves this mess. That would be a hoot.
More later!
No, Juan would never have asked Deborah to stay with Sara. That's another of her lies. This woman wouldn't know the truth if it shot her.
The ghost of Catalina appears again and I don't think Sara ever met her, even as a child. I have always wondered why Catalina always looked so unkempt even in life.
I suspect that everyone was at the digging site because usually there's safety in numbers. I guess they severely underestimated Pedro's break with reality. This is somewhat consistent with all the public drama in the office which someone should have stopped because of how it was hurting the company. Juli should have locked herself in Mateo's bedroom but we can't expect her to be thinking all that clearly under the circumstances.
I paid close attention to the hands opening the safe and hoped to identify the watch, but Bruno was the only suspect because only he would have known the combination. He wasn't developed as a character and therefore the convenient accomplice.
Sara's sense of guilt and her forgiveness of Juli are novela mandatories that I have never agreed with. However, many children of narcissists feel a tremendous sense of unworthiness even when they logically know that they shouldn't. Emotional damage almost never completely heals.
More later.
Gold-Digger Debbie still in Mexico WTH ?
Victoria: I see they FINALLY found the bodies of Aurora & Dante the Looter. The awful graphic smell was 🤢
Jarifa: Tadeo needs Dr. Phil & Jesus Christ 24/7.
PS: I didn't know the ghost of Santa Catalina spoke to Goldie Locks Sara.
Steve Boudreaux
Our local broadcast did not have Sara's dream sequence with Catalina. I wish I could have seen it.
The community body dig was a bit much. Oh, the melodrama of it all! I don't think Tadeo was in attendance and didn't pay attention.
I didn't think Pedro could become more BSC, yet he did, last night.
Since when does Security listen to Pedro and escort the brothers out of the building? QTH?
The whole forgiveness thing between Juli and Sara really required suspension of disbelief. You nailed it on that scene, Darcy.
I laughed as Deb kept trying to hold on to a relationship with Sara while seeing the dollar $igns in Deb's eyes. Adios, Debora! You have lost your #1 meal ticket.
Juan tells the bros to keep an eye on Tadeo, so the first thing they do is park him in the kitchen unsupervised and don't even notice he went missing four .... hours(?). Gah.
Dante's video addressing all the guys except Pedro? Ludicrous.
I am convinced(!) Simón's contract with the studio required 'X' number of shirtless scenes. There have just been too many.
Too bad Pedro didn't accidentally shoot himself, for all the times he had that gun pointed at his own head.
Debs had Tadeo and Pedro has Juli & Sara, so it might come down to a Mexican standoff (pun intended) in the final episode. Tadeo might need years and years of therapy, if not a brain transplant.
Guacamole is on my grocery list.
I know this hasn't been an easy time for you, the fact that you came back and finished with us is amazing, you are one of a kind. It was a pleasure recapping this story with you, after our "struggle" with Pasion de Gavilanes:)) Can't wait for the next one!!
Your running commentary about the body dig is outstanding - dying and pregnant Julieta, kids like Brandon and Dulce... everyone got a glimpse of Pedro's best work so far... the Patio got an eyeful of Simon's naked torso, too, digging bodies is hard work.
Mateo becoming a fool for love (when was he not) was also a highlight.
Everyone in the police department searching for Pedro and he shows up at home, no care in the world, wearing an impeccable 3 piece suit ("How to be on the run with poise and class") was also very funny.
Juan saving the company and everyone cheering for him was a bit out of place, but the guy is a business GENIUS!! From what I understood, immediately after he found out about Campo Verde's existence, he started buying stock, so even if AvocadosRUS is now merged with Campo Verde, it still belongs to Juan because he is the majority holder... The fact that Pedro would create a dummy corporation to steal AvocadosRUS and THEN make it vulnerable by launching an IPO is so dum, no wonder he never managed to win in business. Juan was even aware of the fake charities... the guy is amazing, too bad the audience wasn't aware of it until now, would have made watching him more interesting.
Juli's redeption is even more unbelievable than Cornelio's... How long before she and Sara start braiding their hair together and someone suggests a double wedding?
Adriana Noel
Thank you Adriana and Jarifa for all the hard work you ladies have done on this crazy journey. I agree with you Jarifa in that I probably would have stopped watching a long time ago if I wasn't recapping and/or anticipating coming back to recapping it. You ladies took on the lion's share of this and did such an amazing job! It's always a blast to recap together and I too look forward to the next one. The camaraderie of the patio, all the snark, theories, laughs, and fashion discussions have been so much fun! Thank you patio, for joining us on this wild roller coaster ride! I too will have my guacamole ready for monday!
I think most of my comments on the episode all inclusive in the recap, lol. I agree with what others have said on how this show is unique in that although not a single character is particularly likable the show itself is somehow enjoyable!! I think if I had to choose a favorite character it would be Pedro - which is a first for me, I've never liked the villain most!!! Pedro's unraveling psyche has been spot on. The way he is so menacing toward everyone else but then he can't stop pointing the gun at his own head! The storming the castle to 'kill you all' and then ending up abandoning the mission to retreat to his childhood home to eat bread rolls! This is one very well written role! And Daniel Elbittar KILLED it in this role!!! He has really been sooo good! It scares me because I'd really like to see him in a galan role and if he's this good at playing bad I don't know that that will happen!
The turn of events with Juli is unsatisfying for me. Never mind being unrealistic and hard to believe everyone would just forgive her, love your comment about braiding each other's hair Adriana,...it's also boring...lol I wanted to see her go out on in some wild psychotic wave of insane glory. I have been trying to remember what happened to the Juli equivalent character in the previous Telemundo adaptation of this story and I don't remember, but I don't think she ended on such a warm cuddly note, but I don't think she was pregnant, in that version the whole pregnancy was a lie not just the paternity, so maybe they just don't have to harm another baby in the making of this TV show.
I could go on for days about that body dig!! OMG! You make a good point Urban, about safety in numbers, but who would take a pregnant sick woman out to that environment? Take her to her father's house! And allowing Brandon and Dulce to be there? They shouldn't even be allowed within 5 miles of Santa Catalina given the danger!! But it did make great fodder for the recap so I guess I say thank you Televisa!! LOL
Amazing and mesmerizing. Aside from all the dramatic moments that you captured perfectly, it was your humor that was utterly fantastic. Favorites included “Just when I thought all these people liked Juli more than I do, they prove they in fact don’t by taking a pregnant brain cancer patient out to dig up dead bodies”; “Simon is even digging shirtless?? I like gratuitous shirtlessness as much as the next girl…” and of course, “avocado-cide”.
Juan who is so business savvy continually failed to follow rule #1: protect your home and your loved ones. Pedro was able to waltz in and out without issue. I have to say that Deb did something right for once, calling to tell Pedro she “had” Tadeo. But it didn’t seem to sink in, did it?
This follows a disturbing theme that women seem to bear the brunt of the worst types of punishment (Dante aside). Aurora (perhaps deservedly so) and now, Juli and Sara.
I hope Prospi doesn’t leave. I want he and the slightly improved, newly brunette Rosa to reconcile. I care much more than I admitted. Doris, I did not see the Catalina scene either.
I did like Juan’s caring about and kissing of Sara. It seemed really hot and I’m wondering if they were getting together in real life during this time.
As feared, Pedro is still raging with only the finale to go.
Darcy, you have not come back, you have roared back, your voice is one of reason, wit, humor and insight. Gracias.
Diana
Right Darcy? This was our deux ex machina moment. Gah.
" How long before she and Sara start braiding their hair together ... "
LOL Adriana! Just LOL
Is this the first and only episode where Juan didn't say, "but I promised Dad that I would protect Pedro."??? ~snerk~
There is something warm and comforting about the camaraderie of the patio as we analyze and poke fun at these wild stories that do hold up a distorted mirror do reality . Caray offers a safe haven to laugh at these characters and storylines as we share opinions .
Yikes . Who knew that Juan was the genius of the avocado biz???. Well, we didn't ...because the writers never hinted that he knew what Dante and Pedro were doing. We just got a very passive , near comatose galan (?)
Yikes...it looks like Deb holds the negotiating key to saving Sara and Jul ....Prince Tadeo. Let's see how the writers decided to spin this end . Perhaps Deb and Pedro will kill each other .
That grave excavation scene with everyone standing around watching the big dig by the bros ...instead of the authorities ???? Odd.
I noticed that at one point Simon walked out of the home office as part of a parade with his bros and everyone was dressed , but he only had on bixers. WTH? Does he have a special clause in his contract?
My beanie fell off as I strained to suspend my disbelief .
Doris, I also missed the Catalina and Sara part! But Sara is a saint to forgive Juli so quickly for attempted murder! And Simon also came around. I feel he’ll end up with Paloma. And I think Rosa and Prosperó will get back together. They will need each other when they learn about Juli’s cancer.
If Deb and Pedro kill each other neither would get what they really deserve. But with one episode left there’s not much time to resolve everything. Maybe Tadeo will end up killing Pedro, if he realizes how evil he is.
This has been a fun ride and I will miss it in a way!

We get a last glimpse of Pedro playing with his food, ie Julia and Sara..
Pedro and Deb -- I do love a villain with a sense of humor, and both Pedro and Deb hit it out the park there.
Deb -- Can Sara ever forgive Deb? I can't make up my mind. But Deb is pulling out the stops to save her daughter (or her meal ticket).
Pedro is more stealth than The Shadow and more deadly than The Terminator.
Juan's beautiful smile, simply mesmerizing - he should've flashed that sooner than last night.
What a letdown the folks at the office will have when Pedro is out of the picture. No more floor shows at work.
I think Prospi and Rosa will reunite when they learn about Jul's diagnosis.
Perhaps , Pedro and Deb will take each other out .
Then, HEAs for the many couples , including Corny and Bea to help Tadeo deal with his trauma . FIN
We still need to find out exactly what happened with Sev's fatal accident.
A wedding for Modesto and Berta. I'd like to see Berta dressed up.
Guac & chips are ready for tonight. :-) Surely there will not be any more nauseating abuse or murder scenes from Pedro to diminish my appetite. Fingers crossed.
