Secrets #42 part 1

Quote for Turkish ep #20: "A bird sitting on a tree is never afraid of the branch breaking, because her trust is not on the branch but on its own wings." - Henrik Ibsen

Pars says one last thing before he goes. Since this case is related to mine, it’s logical that I have access to it. Derya doesn’t object. Pars says he’ll speak with the AG.

Yekta and Seda confront Pars over Ceylin’s “soft” accusation. Pars replies, maybe my illness has made me a more moderate person and I changed. Maybe it made me softer, a little more sensitive. Kindness is contagious, understanding, gentleness… I’d like to spread that gentleness throughout the world.

Ilgaz is done with his statement. Yekta tries to bait Ilcey into a confrontation, they resist.

Ilgaz tells Ceylin that Eren must have found something. Pars came and said I might not have to testify.

Yekta visits Derya and talks about his complaint on Ilgaz. She cuts him off and reads from Ilgaz’s statement. He claims he was framed. You believe this, Yekta asks. Ilgaz Kaya is a well-known, respected colleague, Derya says. You need to justify your complaint more because it’s likely to be ignored.

Yekta vows to find dirt on Ilgaz to tarnish his stellar reputation.

Cuneyt informs Yekta that someone might have tampered with samples.

Metin and Eren go to the lab to take Goksu for questioning. Goksu cries, it’s impossible. Everyone in the lab is shocked, except Niyazi. His plan is working. Metin warns the lab workers to keep this quiet.

Pars fills Ilcey in on Goksu. Eren will take her statement. Ceylin wants to find a connection with Yekta. At least she thanks Pars for his support. He says he was just following the law. It’s not a favor.

Yekta plots his next move with his team. Ilgaz’s shoe size matches but the shoe print doesn’t. The hair matches but they say someone tampered with the sample. We need to find more to support our complaint. He’s not perfect, he’d do anything for his wife. Keep your eyes on Ilgaz. If he makes a mistake, reveal it. If you come back empty handed, your fired.

Ceylin looks at Goksu’s social media. She has money and her brother is a big soccer star. Why would she risk her profession, Ceylin wonders.

Goksu is devastated. She’s innocent. Metin tells her someone switched samples and they are following suspicions. We made a list and your tracking history increased our suspicions. He asks, did you visit Yekta Tilmen? She vehemently denies it. She doesn’t even know where his office is.

Flashback. Goksu leaves for the day and Niyazi stays late. He’s got her phone. He takes it to Tilmen’s building and returns to the lab. Goksu returns to retrieve her phone. End flash.

Goksu tells them she forgot her phone. She mentions that Niyazi was in the lab when she left and when she returned.

Goksu sees Ilcey arrive at the station. She rushes to Ilgaz and tearfully proclaims her innocence. Why would I frame you, she cries. I didn’t do it!

Eren updates Ilcey. Goksu’s phone shows she was at Tilmen. She denies it and says she forgot her phone at the lab and returned for it. She also said that Niyazi was there. Eren says they didn’t ask Niyazi yet.

The AG comes to see Pars. Derya beat Pars to the punch and spoke to the AG. The AG wants Pars and Derya to work together. Pars wants to work alone. The AG says Pars will have to learn to work with others.

Ceylin watches through the window as Eren questions Niyazi. She focuses on a tear in his coat.

Niyazi says he was in the lab but wasn’t paying attention when Goksu came and went.

Pars goes to Derya’s office to register a mild complaint about working together. There’s a shot of her stiletto heels. [Lol, Pars point of view? This might be the beginning of a beautiful friendship.] Derya won’t give the case over. I hope we will be lucky, she says.

secrets #42 part 2

Ceylin brings up the motivation issue again: money. She notes that Goksu and others on the list don’t need money. Ilgaz says people can always want more. Ceylin thinks Niyazi needs the money. She notes that Niyazi has long hair. Maybe the rat and the murderer are the same.

Ilgaz and Eren tell her to slow down. She wants to know Niyazi’s shoe size. Her idea: have Niyazi stand next to Ilgaz to compare shoe sizes. She’ll snap a pic. [lol, how scientific!] Niyazi’s shoe looks bigger. They eliminate him. But we find out that’s because he’s wearing shoes that are a couple of sizes too big.

Seda tells Yekta about the stolen toothbrush incident that lead to Ilcey’s marriage. Yekta is pleased.

Ceylin and Eren shake hands and say goodbye. Ilgaz senses something’s up. Yep, Eren slipped her a flash drive with info on her burning jacket. I can’t tell who burned the jacket but it looks accidental.

Ceylin gets a call from her mother to come. Aylin isn’t doing well. She tells her about Zumrut’s pregnancy.

Lacin tells Seda we have to get Murat out of jail. Seda’s not sure if she can. Lacin wants to see Murat. Seda’s not too sure about that either. Lacin begs.

Ceylin talks with Aylin. She sees the burned note from Zafer. I really don’t care too much about Aylin’s regrets. FF>> She wants to divorce Osman if the baby is his.

Pars comes to the station. He tells Eren they will search Goksu’s house.

Pars finds out that Eren has a daughter. He says let’s go out and have a drink.

Ceylin calls Zumrut to come to talk about the baby. She thinks Aylin deserves to know who the father is. She wants Zumrut to take the test. Zumrut is worried Ziver will kill her. Ceylin says take the test whether or not you want to tell Ziver.

Ilgaz and Cinar talk. Ilgaz admits he kinda misses being a DA. He brings up Engin’s list and that Cinar’s name was on it. Remember I called you to see if everything was ok? That’s why. Ilgaz asks Cinar if anyone threatened him. We get all the “you killed Zafer” flashbacks. Cinar lies. Ilgaz senses that Cinar is hiding something. Cinar accuses Ilgaz of being like Metin. You pretend to care and then you stab me. He walks away.

Upset Cinar goes to his room and Metin follows. He tells his dad about Ilgaz’s questions.
Cinar wants to run away. He unloads about his guilt and how he can’t face Ilcey.
Ilgaz enters Cinar’s room. He lets little bro have it—why are you acting like this? Ilgaz looks at Metin, too. He demands to know what the issue is. Tell me right now!

Merdan enters Cinar’s room. He says Defne is getting scared with all the yelling. Metin tells him to butt out. Merdan says he’ll fix this. Ilgaz is listening. He makes up a BS story about a job and that Metin won’t allow Cinar to go. Ilgaz tells Cinar he can’t go anywhere because of his open case. At least that gets rid of Ilgaz. Thank you, Merdan snarks.

More Erguvan women talking FF>> Sorry.

Pars listens to Eren’s daughter troubles. Do you know how hard it is to be a stranger to your own child? It’s a very nice conversation.

Ceylin speaks to Osman about Engin’s list. It was about Parla’s doping. Osman says it’s possible he knew about his affair. Ceylin asks if there’s anything else. No.

Serdar shows up at Eren’s. Tugce is panicked. She won’t let him in. He asks her to separate some of the merch for him. He’s taking it somewhere. She questions if this is a good thing to do. Serdar says separate the goods and wait for my message.

Neva sets up a camera so Pars can be recorded while he sleeps. [I don’t think that’s what the doc had in mind. Whatever.] He asks Neva if she knows the new DA. Yep, they worked together in Ankara. Pars wants the lowdown at breakfast.

secrets #42 part 3

Tugce works on the merch and Eren comes home. She hustles into bed and pretends she’s asleep.

The new desk arrives at Ilcey’s office. The blackboard is hung.

Pars sees a judge to ask for a search warrant for Goksu. Pars calls Eren to have her locker and belongings in the lab confiscated.

Ceylin’s trial date is set in 3 ½ weeks.

Goksu’s locker is searched. Niyazi is present [grrr…] An evidence bag with a hair is found. It’s handed to Niyazi—find out if this is from Ilgaz.

Tugce shows up at a real estate office and asks to use the restroom. She takes something from the bottom of a chair in an exchange. She runs back to the car where the others wait. It’s payday! The job is completed! They go out on the town to celebrate.

Yekta staff meeting. Cuneyt reports dirt on Ilgaz. The incident with the transfer van. And when Ceylin was arrested, Ilgaz spent the night with her in the detention center. Yekta loves it. They start prep for the trial in 3 weeks.

Ilgaz has some good news. Metin’s report showed inconsistencies with the angle of the shots fired. The glove is to be tested for a gunshot report.

Ilcey talk about Murat.

Ilcey visit Pars. He tells them they found evidence in Goksu’s locker. He talks about the glove. He mentions Judge Kemal—a strict but very good guy. Ceylin asks about Murat. Can we believe his confession? Pars replies, we’ll see.

Ilcey blackboard list. Ceylin erases Cinar and Osman. Ilgaz says to add Murat. Ceylin wants to add Goksu and Neva. Ceylin notes if Goksu tampered with evidence, then she has a connection to the shooter. Ilgaz says to write down the shooter. But Ceylin is convinced this is all Yekta. The detective work gets Ilcey hot and bothered. They start making out.

Celebrations are over. Serdar is dropping everyone home. He says Tugce will be last.
Back to the blackboard sessions. There’s talk about Neva hiding something. Ceylin asks Ilgaz if he knows of any weakness. He says he doesn’t, her principles are firm. He’s never seen a mistake. They start kissing again. There’s a knock at the door.

It’s Eren. He wanted to tell them about the hair. And he tells them about Tugce. He asks if they could organize a breakfast one weekend with all the kids—Defne, Cinar, Parla. Oh and by the way, Ilgaz, the hair is yours and you might be detained.

Niyazi shows up at Merdan’s place. Merdan observes Niyazi’s interaction with some guy carefully. Niyazi tells the guy, I did what you said, I want the money. Pay me or tell me who hired me. The man replies, the person who gave you the job got caught, what he did landed him in prison. Niyazi presses. The man says he’ll call when he hears something. Niyazi leaves and a server comes to report to Merdan.

Seda discusses a change of tactic. Instead of going after Ilgaz, go after the Erguvans. She mentions Zafer is missing [I wonder why? Lol.] They put flyers up. Yekta thinks this is valuable information. And he loves the idea of investigating Ceylin’s family. She gets no info on Zafer’s body.

Some cute stuff about Ilcey changing their contact names in each other’s phones. Right now they are still “savcı” and “avukat”.

Serdar drops Tugce last and asks her to bring the merch to him. Suspicious Cinar has followed them in a cab. He goes to Tugce’s door and surprises her as she comes out with a little bag of white powder. He says he will take the bag to Serdar. He has to talk her into it.

secrets #42 part 4

Cinar hops into Serdar’s car and tells him to drive. He shows him the bag. Cinar is very angry. Just a delivery? Were you fooling us, he asks, what is this? You’re trying to steal from the man and fool us? Serdar tries to BS his way out of it. Cinar empties the bag out the window. Serdar flips out.

Next morning, Ilgaz is at the courthouse because they are taking Goksu for a hearing. He calls Ceylin and asks her where she is. She lies and says she’s on her way. She’s on a stakeout at Niyazi’s house.

Ilgaz asks Goksu, why? She explains her beloved father was killed by a stray bullet when she was a child. That day she swore she’d become a police officer. Her family didn’t approve. But I swore an oath, she says, and I am a police officer. I didn’t abuse my duty. Somebody wants to ruin your life, but it’s not me.

This affects Ilgaz. He heads to his old office and looks around. He thinks of checking the back of his chair and finds a hair! He brings this info to Pars. The traitor got the hair from his office.

Cuneyt has another tidbit for Yekta. The hospital case that Ceylin got by snooping on Ilgaz’s desk. He gave his wife a job.

Ilgaz, Eren and Pars look at security footage. Niyazi enters Ilgaz’s office after hours. He’s the traitor! Ilgaz says Ceylin was right. Pars orders, get that dog immediately. I’ll get a search warrant. Goksu will be released.

Ilgaz calls Ceylin with the news she was right. Niyazi is the traitor and he framed Goksu. He asks, where are you? She lies again, I’m stuck in traffic. Ilgaz doesn’t buy it. She comes clean. I’m at Niyazi’s house. Ilgaz is ticked. He says he’s on his way.

Eren bursts into the lab—where the hell is Niyazi?! A worker says he didn’t come in today. Metin shows up. Eren is enraged. He blamed a colleague! It’s a sin! Eren walks the halls shouting for Niyazi. Metin says to find his address. Eren says he will find him and kill him. One of the lab workers makes a call.

Niyazi is home trying to solve a problem between his sister and her deadbeat husband. Niyazi’s phone rings. Don’t know who’s calling. Is it the colleague?

Ilgaz finds Ceylin. No time to argue. Niyazi leaves his house and gets in a car. They follow. Ilgaz calls Eren to tell him they are tailing Niyazi on the Marmara Highway. Niyazi realizes that he’s being followed, and the chase is on.

Serdar finds Cinar. It’s trouble, the men realized “we” stole from them. Cinar is pissed, what do you mean “we”? Apparently they were supposed to deliver that money, not spend it. I don’t know, Serdar says, maybe it was a misunderstanding. A car pulls up and they take Serdar. Then they decide to take Cinar, too.

Niyazi’s house is searched.

Back to the car chase. There’s a jam up ahead and Niyazi gets out and takes off on foot. Ilgaz and Ceylin chase him. Niyazi crosses the divider. Lot’s of high speed traffic coming that way. He warns Ilgaz not to come closer. Ilgaz wants to talk. Tell me who’s after you? Surrender.

Niyazi shakes his head. I’m not going to jail. Ilgaz tries to talk him into surrendering. We hear a horn blare and Ceylin has a horrified look.

And we are out.

Terrific job on the odious two-hour recap! That was what we began with regarding Telemundo's complete disregard for its viewers. Because I ended up with more time than I'd thought I'd have, I began to watch the two-hour epis Telemundo started with and got hooked. Now they've done it again. A million thanks to you, dondi, for hanging in there.

I LOVED the quote this time from Ibsen.

I'm liking Derya and have high hopes for a Pars/Derya HEA.

What the hell is with Cuneyt? What drives him to feed Yekta so much dirt on our protagonists? We know he was Ceylin's old boyfriend, an unfaithful one, but he doesn't seem all that evil.

Please. Niyazi's wearing the too-big shoes was a bit too much for me. How did he know they were going to try to trap him with the shoe size?

Seda? I'm starting to forget her motivations. I remember Merdan threatening her about following through with Engin's blackmail. But why does she keep feeding Yekta such good info? Why doesn't she try to slow him down?

What I thought about Ceylin coming back home to deal with the Aylin/Osman situation is that she's so used to family dysfunction that she's pitching in to calm the waters. I was actually surprised she agreed with Aylin about needing to know "who's your daddy>"

Secrets

Thanks, dondi356, for keeping notes of the 2 hour episodes.

Whenever Ceylin looks at the blackboard and thinks who is behind this she says "I think it's Yekta."

"Oh and by the way, Ilgaz, the hair is yours and you might be detained." - this is a bad translation. In reality what Eren said was "Oh and by the way, Ilgaz, the hair is yours and the detention order will be issued." meaning for Goksu.

Eren didn't handle the detention of Niyazi well. Openly saying that he is after him, tipping him off through the buddy coworker.

secrets

Thanks novelera and Lucio.

Revelations only lead to more mysteries.

novelera: “What the hell is with Cuneyt? What drives him to feed Yekta so much dirt on our protagonists?” And he always looks so guilty after he does it. The only thing I can think of is he’s protecting himself and Neva because they did something wrong. I thought at one point he was involved with Niyazi.

A Pars/Derya HEA would be nice, but this is a dizi, so I have to worry.

“Niyazi's wearing the too-big shoes…” I lol’d at that sight. But he had inside info, so was he being cautious?

Merdan wants Seda to find out where Zafer is. He seems to think Yekta knows. I guess she has to make it look legit to Yekta.

It’s funny that Ceylin is the one to “calm the waters” in the family. She’s so volatile.

Yes, Lucio, it was a bad translation. Goksu was the one being detained. Thanks for the clarification. It was clear in the Turkish. I thought it was funny the way Eren just threw it out there.

“Whenever Ceylin looks at the blackboard and thinks who is behind this she says "I think it's Yekta." She’s as obsessed with him as he is with her.

I can have a sort of recap up tonight or tomorrow morning.

I plan on watching World Cup Soccer tonight.

secrets #43 part 1

Quote for Turkish ep #21: "Sheep spend their lives in fear of the wolf. However, it is the shepherd who eats it in the end." - Thomas Hobbes

Niyazi steps out in front of a speeding truck and that’s the end of the road for him. A traumatic experience for Ilcey and the poor driver. Ceylin says it’s her fault. She shouldn’t have followed him. Eren arrives at the scene.

Yekta sees Derya to sling mud on Ilgaz’s reputation. The stolen toothbrush and marriage caper. DA Ilgaz allowed Ceylin to meet with Engin in prison. The transfer van incident. Derya gets annoyed with Yekta and asks him to leave more than once. She literally shows him the door
.
Metin and Pars arrive at the accident. They are not happy to see Ilcey. Pars tells Metin to get their statements.

The thug who took Serdar and Cinar orders them to fight each other while it’s filmed. He tells Serdar he doesn’t deserve that name. [Serdar means “commander”.] The thug tells Serdar he will return all that he took. He gives Serdar and Cinar two days to come up with 100,000.

Cuneyt tells Yekta about Niyazi. Ilcey were there when it happened. Yekta wonders where Seda is.

Seda is with Merdan. She says Yekta doesn’t know about Zafer’s death. Merdan won’t let her off the hook. Use your intellect, he tells her as he walks away.

Lacin asks Seda if she arranged a visit with Murat yet. An irritated Seda wonders why Lacin cares so much about the driver.

Metin questions Ceylin. Who told you Niyazi was a suspect? Ilgaz did. Who gave you his address? A police officer. By her rights, she declines to give the name. Why did you go to his house? Was it your responsibility? What gave you the right? Ilgaz intervenes. Metin calls Ceylin a trouble maker interfering in police business. A man is dead! Ilgaz wants to talk outside.

Ilgaz asks, who was talking, the police chief or my father? Who’s asking, Metin replies, my son the former DA, or the lawyer? You have no right to scold us, Ilgaz says. What authority do you have to give me orders, Metin responds, you don’t have that power in your current position. I’ll be taking a statement from the son I admired, who I never thought would go down the wrong path.

Merdan questions Cinar. Cinar says it’s nothing, just a fight with a friend.

Ceylin runs into Pars after her statement. He asks why she went to Niyazi. Intuition? My intuition became a theory, she replies, one I shared with Ilgaz and Eren. Pars is very disappointed. I offered you two my friendship. I vouched for Ilgaz. I analyzed everything so your accusation wouldn’t be unfair. And you repay me like this? You don’t respect me.

That’s not so, Ceylin replies. Pars continues, I trusted you. I went to your office. They would slander me if they knew. I chose to be by your side and disregarded Yekta. I kept you informed. I got a big nothing in return. I wasn’t there when you considered the possibilities, and you didn’t have the dignity to tell me afterward. Because you don’t value me the way I value you. Pars feels used.

That wasn’t our intention, Ceylin says, it all happened fast. We should have told you, but it wasn’t our intention to use you. But you came to my office for information, Pars answers, and now my doors are closed to you.

Ilgaz gives his statement. I realized he was planning to do something bad. I told him to stop but he jumped in front of the truck. Metin says maybe he would be alive if you hadn’t followed him. The police would have done their job and captured him.

secrets #43 part 2

Ilgaz compares it to a purse snatcher. We were there, we couldn’t let him escape. He chose that. But it doesn’t mean I’m not affected. It’s horrible to see someone die. But it doesn't make me a criminal. I’m a witness and I gave my statement. Pars tells Eren, bring Ilcey to your office.

Ceylin notes that Pars is very upset. People open their hearts to those they appreciate. Ilgaz says they weren’t hiding anything. Eren thinks it would be better if Ilcey weren’t always in the middle of everything. We should have been more sensitive with him (Pars). I was devastated after how he looked at me.

Yekta and Cuneyt show up at the station. Pars explains the situation with Niyazi. Yekta asks if he has a confession. No, he’s dead. Yekta says then nothing is proven. There were no cameras in the office. How do you know he took the hair? He fled, Pars replies. Yekta calls it all speculation. Pars says to stop the interrogation. He can watch the recordings if he wants. Pars walks away.

Metin and Pars watch the accident video and conclude Niyazi was a suicide. Metin says they found unregistered ammunition and guns at Niyazi’s house. Pars wants to check video to see if Niyazi brought Goksu’s phone to Tilmen.

Eren tells Ilcey they found out Niyazi was wearing a bigger shoe size and they found guns at his house. Ilgaz thinks Niyazi could be the shooter. Pars come by and tells Eren he’s going to the courthouse. He totally ignores Ilcey.

They cut Pars bringing a file for Derya. She’s not in her office. The door slams behind him. He does some snooping. A little wooden box on her desk holds a bullet. He sniffs a small bottle of perfume. He picks up what looks like a family picture. Derya’s assistant, who is with Ridvan, comes along and locks the door. Pars bangs on it and yells, and she lets him out. Kind of an awkward moment for all.

Yekta holds another strategy session with his team. More of the same—let’s blame Ceylin. He says a lot of awful things about her. It’s not revenge that motivates her. It’s hatred. She can’t lose. A flame that wants to burn everything. Look for incidents where Ceylin lost control. Cuneyt looks very uncomfortable and so does Seda.

Ceylin is upset with herself. She goes to lie down and puts a blanket over her head. Ilgaz reads her more crap that Yekta spread online. Ceylin is motivated to continue.
We have the shooter, Ilgaz says as he writes Niyazi on the board. But who hired him? Ceylin’s standard answer is Yekta. Ilgaz wants to look at all possibilities.

Ceylin volunteers to speak with Neva. Ilgaz doesn’t look too keen on that. It’s weird. Ceylin says she must have done something bad for Engin to use. Ilgaz plans to visit Murat. Ceylin wants to do more investigation into Yekta to find something to bring him down.

Ilgaz gets a message from Eren. He’s waiting for them. Ceylin tells Ilgaz to go alone. She wants to be by herself for a while. [Why Ilgaz still trusts her, I don’t know.]
Pars tells Neva about Niyazi and the theory he is the shooter. The real question is who is pulling the strings? Nervous look from Neva.

Eren calls Pars and Pars is short with him. Ilgaz meets Eren. He tells Ilgaz, we lost Pars. Ilgaz says it doesn’t mean he will conspire against us. He’ll do his job and we’ll do ours. The rest we’ll fix little by little. Eren says they examined Niyazi’s guns. Niyazi knew what he was doing.

They cut Metin telling the squad that bullets and/or guns found at Niyazi’s match a couple of murders. Niyazi was missing from work on those days, but they can’t place him at the scenes. Niyazi could have been moonlighting as a hitman.

secrets #43 part 3

Ceylin is sitting in her car, and she sees Cinar and Serdar out on the street. Serdar tells Cinar he can’t ignore this. If we don’t get the money, they’ll kill us. Can we ask your grandfather? [waiting for Merdan to send Serdar special baklava.] And what do we tell him, Cinar replies, we’re the dumbest men in the world? We robbed a cartel and didn’t pay them. No way. Cinar tells Serdar to call the girls to meet. Tell them to bring the money they have left and the things they bought.

Ok, Ceylin was parked by Merdan’s place. She goes in. He’s happy to see her. She came to ask for help. Merdan says he would do anything for her, his grandchildren, and children. She starts by saying she’s being tried for Engin Tilmen’s murder. He knows. So you must know Yekta Tilmen, she says. What about him, Merdan asks.

Ceylin says there’s reason to believe Engin threatened his own father before he died. I want to find out how Engin threatened him. Merdan wonders if Yekta is evil enough to kill his own son. Ceylin tries to be tactful about it, but the answer is yes. She adds, he’s obsessed with me and Ilgaz. He attacks us and I want to respond. I have nothing.

She continues, I thought you could help. You have experience. Maybe we could have him followed, find out his secret or something to bring him down. Merdan says give me till tomorrow, I’ll come to you. Ceylin says Ilgaz doesn’t know she came, so he shouldn’t find out. It’s our little secret, Merdan replies, we’ll take it to the grave.

Merdan looks at the file Engin compiled on Yekta. Fake diploma.

Ceylin asks Ilgaz about Cinar. Is he working? Yes, he works with Grandpa. She says Ilgaz should speak with him about that. Ilgaz wonders why she’s so curious about Cinar. Because you’re neglecting your family for me, she replies.

Next day, Ceylin notes a worried look on Ilgaz. Is it because I’m going to talk to Neva? Ilgaz says we don’t have permission. Try not to end up in jail. She swears it will be fine.

Merdan surprises Ceylin as she’s on her way to the courthouse. He takes out a pen and writes a name on Ceylin’s hand. Ayla Endar? Is she connected to Yekta? A threat to Engin? An enemy? Merdan flatters Ceylin, you’re young, smart and more tech savvy than I am. Your intelligence will lead us out. My grandson married the most beautiful woman in Istanbul.

Seda has more dirt on Ilcey. DA Ilgaz had her detained after she attacked him on the street. Yekta laughs, she’s capable of anything when she’s in a rage. We’ll get a psychologist to evaluate Ceylin’s mental state. Anger management issues.

Shouldn’t we look for more, Seda says. Yekta thinks of Cuneyt. What if her ex-BF testified that her anger is uncontrollable? Seda wonders if Cuneyt would do it. We’ll force him, Yekta replies.

Ceylin opens Neva’s door and finds her in a bit of a compromising situation with Cuneyt. Did I really see that, she asks Cuneyt as he leaves.

Ceylin thanks Neva for the decision that let her out of prison. Nothing to thank, just doing my job, Neva says. Ceylin asks her why she went to see Engin in prison. Your name was on the visitor list. Ilgaz saw you get in the ambulance. Neva asks her to leave. Ceylin thinks it’s odd, she didn’t think Neva had ties to Engin. Neva asks her to leave again. She warns Ceylin—know your place.

Ceylin says she will ask the court to ask her. Neva blurts, he contacted me. Someone left a note in my office one day. I went out of curiosity. I didn’t get to see him or talk to him. Ceylin asks to see the note. Neva says she threw it away. Ceylin leaves and Neva swipes things off her desk.

secrets #43 part 4

Ceylin stops Cuneyt right before he’s going to the courtroom. She wants to know how long it’s been going on with Neva. Cuneyt denies anything is going on. We were only talking. I’m not blind, Ceylin replies. I know it’s none of my business, and I’m not asking out of jealousy. I’m wondering the purpose, if someone is doing something for their own benefit. It’s real, Cuneyt answers. Ceylin laughs. Does Pars know? Cuneyt is ticked, what’s with the questions? Pars this, Pars that. He doesn’t know. One more question for Cuneyt: what’s Neva got to do with Engin?

What kind of relationship could she have with a dead guy, Cuneyt replies, I don’t get it. I know Engin threatened Neva, Ceylin says. Cuneyt looks away and Ceylin calls him on it. You know why he threatened her. Cuneyt raises his voice, enough! Don’t push it. I’ll find out, Ceylin warns.

Eren updates Ilgaz on Niyazi and that they are investigating. Ilgaz wants to see the files on the murders.

Seda has set up a jail visit for Lacin. But it must be done secretly and fast.

Meanwhile, Ilgaz is visiting Murat. Murat wonders why Ilgaz wanted to see him. He knows he’s Ceylin’s lawyer. Ilgaz says he read Murat’s statement that said he helped Engin escape. But he didn’t say how. He asks, did Engin ask for your help? Murat says he stayed at the hospital in case he was needed. He says a nurse approached him and said Engin wanted to see him. So you know he woke from his coma, Ilgaz asks. Yes.

Ilgaz asks, wasn’t it hard to get into the ICU? I saw an opportunity and took it, Murat replies. He (Engin) said “help me, I have to get out of here”. If I’d known he’d end up like that, I never would have done it. Was it Engin’s idea to go to Sile? Murat says yes. So I put the keys in the car, blocked the GPS and took a gun. It was your weapon? Yes.

Ilgaz questions him about the gun. You had a permit? Yes. What was the caliber? Does that matter, Murat asks. No, Ilgaz replies, it’s just on my mind. Murat is uncertain… 11 mm or so. Wrong, Ilgaz answers, it was 9mm. Murat gets up and leaves.

Cuneyt catches up with Neva. Ceylin asked how you were threatened. She thanks him for the info.

Ceylin looks up Ayla Endar. Secretary in the School of Law at Aksoy University.
Ilgaz sees Seda and Lacin arrive at the prison.

Ceylin is at Aksoy University. She asks a woman about Ayla. Yes, she was the former secretary. Ceylin asks for a phone number or address. The woman says she died 3 years ago. Ceylin asks if there is a number to reach out to the family. There is.

Pars and Derya are at the courthouse restaurant at separate tables. She spots him and comes over. She knows he was in her office. He tells her, I don’t know what you were told but I was only dropping off a file. I know, she replies, I looked at it already. So then you know Ilgaz Kaya had nothing to do with it, he says, the glove was already there. We also suspect that the third person there was Niyazi. That’s why I decided not to take him to trial.

Derya answers, “we” will. We will both make the decision. Pars says he makes that mistake because he’s used to working alone. He’s sorry [but not sorry]. Derya says, I will consider your request. I’ll let you know. She leaves the table. Pars gets up and calls after her. She keeps walking until he catches up to her.

Why don’t we discuss what’s on your mind, Pars says. Derya replies, Ilgaz Kaya didn’t tamper with the evidence and the glove wasn’t his, but he went to the crime scene without authorization. He investigated on his own. Plus, Yekta has other accusations. Pars says that Yekta alleges a thousand different things.

secrets #43 part 5

Derya asks, do you miss your former colleague? Pars didn’t expect that question. You miss him, she says. Pars can’t look at her. She continues, everybody says one shouldn’t fraternize, but you developed a little friendship. A way to protect each other. Why?

Pars replies, listen, Derya Hanım, correct me if I’m wrong (if I make a mistake), but your insinuations are way off base. What did Yekta tell you that affected you so much? You imply I’m showing favoritism, but you might be taking the bait. Don’t let it cloud your judgment. Derya answers, I’m impressed by your tactics. I have the documents which should help me. I’ll let you know.

Seda tells Lacin she only has 5 minutes. Lacin embraces Murat and she bursts into tears. He tells her he’s fine and has no regrets. Don’t cry. She asks, why did you do it? I did it for you, he replies. Because I love you. We both know I deserve to be here. I sinned and every man should pay for his sins. Lacin says it’s not his fault. Whatever happened, we both did it. The only thing that hurts is not being around you, he tells her. I swear I’ll get you out, she says.

Seda and Lacin exit the prison. Seda tells her she’s going to thank the person who helped them with this. She goes to see Murat. She asks, why did you take the blame? I told you, he answers, to save Lacin. To protect her. But who told you she was in trouble? I overheard it, he replies. He says he heard Yekta on the phone with Pars. He tells her what he heard. I felt I should help them. Seda has her answers. She tells Murat, we’ll be seeing each other.

Ceylin makes it back to meet Ilgaz by the courthouse. She fibs and says she went to buy water. They update each other. She starts, Neva has a new love, it’s Cuneyt. Does that make you sad? No. Ilgaz wishes them happiness. Cuneyt and Neva are definitely hiding something. Like we said, the threat to Pars was Neva. Cuneyt knows, too. We have to find out.

Ilgaz says he spoke to Murat and he didn’t know the caliber of the gun. Ceylin says that proves he took the blame for Yekta. Ilgaz cautions, don’t jump to conclusions. Ilgaz adds that he saw Seda and Lacin outside the prison. Do you think he took the blame for Lacin? Maybe.

Ceylin wants to talk to Lacin but Ilgaz says it wouldn’t be ethical. They debate this. She’s going to do it. He warns her what happens when she goes rogue. He says he will go with her.

Yekta speaks with Cuneyt. He says he gave the Ceylin case to Seda instead of him because of the “ex” factor. Cuneyt assures his relationship with Ceylin is in the past. In that case, Yekta says, let’s crush the beautiful Ceylin. If she’s in the past, let’s show her no mercy. With pleasure, Cuneyt replies.

We’ve discovered terrible things related to her anger issues, Yekta says. If you experienced some unpleasant times with her or… if you had to testify to that, even if it was fabricated, would you? Cuneyt responds, it would be my pleasure, sir. I’ll do anything to take down Ceylin. This makes Yekta’s day.

An agitated Neva waits for Pars in his office. Ceylin showed up at my office today. She asked why I visited Engin and why I got in the ambulance. You swore you wouldn’t include my name in the accusation. Could it be your name is on the list of visitors, Pars replies. He asks, what did you tell her? I told her what I told you, Neva says. Pars inquires—then there’s nothing to worry about, is there? You gave your statement. Neva calms down.

Pars calls Ilgaz. He is with Ceylin in the court archives. Pars is there in a flash. He asks, why are you questioning Neva? What does she have to do with this? Ilgaz explains they knew she met with Engin and wanted to know why. If you have questions, ask me, Pars replies.

secrets #43 part 6

So Ceylin asks, exactly how did Engin threaten Neva? Can we know? Pars is silent. Ilgaz says, it’s obvious that you know. Since you want to know so badly, I’ll tell you, Pars replies. My sister had a breakdown because Ilgaz left her when they were supposed to get married. She didn’t know what to do. She succumbed to someone in order to come to the same city, in the hopes of getting him back. [Turkish] She bowed her head for Ilgaz. Did you know that? Now you do.

Pars turns to Ceylin, I’d ask myself how much I could trust him after that. Though you both already know how to destroy someone’s life. He leaves. Ilcey are stunned.

Seda comes to see Pars. Did you have a phone conversation with Yekta regarding the accusation? Pars gets snarky. He asks, where do you come up with these dumb questions? She continues, did you suggest a 10 year sentence for Lacin for kidnapping Engin? Are you sure you went to law school, Pars replies. Never. If that’s it for your pointless question, I’ll go back to work. Ah, Yekta, she whispers.

Ceylin asks Ilgaz if he wants to talk about it. He’s confused. Pars said she bowed her head. Maybe she put her life and job at risk. Ceylin asks, you’ll drop it, won’t you? She did it because she loved you so much. But how could she go along with something like that if she knew she could go to jail, Ilgaz replies. Ceylin wonders if Neva would be capable of hurting someone, even indirectly.

Ilgaz doesn’t know. Maybe someone else did it for her. Like Cuneyt, Ceylin proposes. You said they were dating, Ilgaz replies, there’s not much one won’t do for love. Good and bad things.

Ilcey drive. Ilgaz notices the writing on Ceylin’s hand. She lies—it’s a possible client. Ceylin spots Parla and calls out to her. Parla doesn’t hear but Ceylin sees her niece is carrying an expensive bag like the one Inci had. She worries but tells Ilgaz to keep driving.

Serdar’s meet up. Parla asks what’s it all about. Serdar tells everyone to hand over all they have.

Ilcey arrive at Yekta’s. Ceylin is very unsettled about being there. She flashes back to the last time she was there. When she first thought Engin killed Inci. She stands in front of the house. The housekeeper sees her and tells Lacin. Lacin nods to let her in.

Ceylin tearfully tells Lacin how difficult it is to stand in this living room. But I have to, she says, I seek justice…for everybody. I was always fond of you Lacin Teyze. Maybe because I feel so bad for you because of everything Yekta has done. But I always admired you for your patience and efforts to improve your relationship with Engin.

Ceylin gets emotional and pauses. She continues, when I can’t sleep at night, sometimes I wonder if you can’t either. I ask why Engin became what he was, but not to excuse his actions. It’s because we all want answers. I thought maybe it was passed down from Yekta because of his horrifying personality. But then I watched you and finally understood. You’re also to blame and you know it.

Lacin asks, why are you here? You saw my mother, you embraced and cried. I know you still have a shred of conscience. If not, you wouldn’t have gone to see your driver who protected you. Now I’m pleading with your conscience to listen to me. I did not kill Engin. I hope you know that.

Ceylin continues, I’m only going to ask one question. What did Engin threaten Yekta with? Does it have something to do with Ayla Endar? What is Yekta’s connection to this person? Lacin asks her to leave. Yekta is coming home early today. Disappointed and frustrated, Ceylin goes.

secrets #43 part 7

The housekeeper brings Lacin a glass of water. How dare that murderer come here, she says. Lacin states, she’s not a murderer and leaves the room.

Goksu is called in to see Eren and Metin. Metin gives a brief apology. He tells her they need to reexamine everything Niyazi tested. The focus is on the gloves. Check for traces of gunpowder and if the DNA is Niyazi’s.

They cut an earlier scene where Eren greets Goksu on her first morning back. He’s brought some borek. Shall we eat? As an apology? He tells her, we were deceived. Otherwise, we wouldn’t have wanted to break your heart. I would be happy if you accepted this. She smiles, takes the bag, and says she will order tea.

Ceylin wants to go to her house. Ilgaz wants to go to his. He’s worried about Cinar.
Pars is home having dinner when he hears a commotion outside. Horns blaring and someone shouting. He looks and sees a car blocking the way and Neva walking away from it. Pars quickly calls Eren and asks him to run the plate.

Neva enters the house and Pars asks what was going on outside. It was because of the taxi I took, she lies. He didn’t have change and it took him forever to find it. The driver behind us got impatient.

Eren calls Pars and says it was a rental car. Pars asks to find the driver.

Ceylin goes to see Ayla’s daughter. She pretends to be a former student. Ceylin asks if she knows Yekta. The woman says, yes, he’s a good man. He paid my mother’s medical bills. He was always there for us, asking about her. My mother lived her final days depending on him. I don’t know how she managed, but Ceylin says she knows Yekta well and adores him.

Ceylin arrives home and immediately confronts Parla. I saw you on the street, she says, where did you find that purse? What purse, Parla replies. It’s an expensive brand, Ceylin says, and she starts to look through Parla’s backpack. They start shouting. Parla denies having this purse. Ceylin says, Inci had a bag like that! Parla shouts back, it was a friend’s! Gul and Aylin rush over.

Ceylin follows Parla to apologize, but gets a door slammed in her face. Ceylin explains to Gul and Aylin. She feels terrible and apologizes. She thought of Inci.

Ilgaz is playing a game with Defne, when Cinar comes home. He quickly ducks into his room and closes the door. Ilgaz enters Cinar’s room. He is alarmed when he sees his brother’s face. What happened? I had a fight, Cinar replies, It’s nothing. It was Serdar, we were fooling around, and it went too far. Ilgaz asks the same question we ask, why are you still in contact with that guy?

I know, Cinar says, I shouldn’t see him anymore. Ilgaz warns, if you don’t straighten out your life, it will always be like this. It’s up to you if you want to be a lawyer or a cashier at Grandpa’s. I plan to leave the country, Cinar replies. Ilgaz reminds him of the pending case. Then I’ll leave afterward, Cinar says.

What will you do, Ilgaz asks. I’ll build my life, Cinar responds. You can attend school here, Ilgaz says, in the place you know. Maybe I’ll study abroad, Cinar answers, I want to be a graphic designer. Ilgaz says he didn’t know that. If you want to go to school, I can help you. Don’t go abroad.

Cinar asks why. You don’t think I’m capable? Because you can’t keep an eye on me? Or no one is allowed to be as successful and committed as you are? Ilgaz asks, why do you always compare us? Let each of us deal with our own problems, Cinar replies. I’m not a kid anymore. I have Dad in one ear and Grandpa in the other. Invest your time and energy in saving Ceylin, not me. [Ouch, Ilgaz].

And we are out.

secrets

Thanks so much, dondi, for taking on two-hour episodes and for doing such a great job on them.

I can't believe some idiot at Telemundo thought it a smart move to cut the part about Niyazi's guns being involved in other hits. If we didn't hear that, we might even think he's a poor victim of someone (Yekta) to pay those debts he has.

Yekta is making enemies right and left. Derya wouldn't necessarily brake her car if he jaywalked at this point.

I am still confused about Serdar's caper. Your recap, dondi, made it a bit clearer that he decided to rob powerful people of drugs and money. Looks like they sold part of it, with Parla putting the drugs under that seat cushion. And then Serdar insisted on their partying and spending, against Cinar's realization that it was a bad idea.

Ay, Cinar. You were building a relationship with Merdan. If you only told him the truth, he'd have a chance to help you. Hopefully by getting Serdar out of his life, one way or another.

Well, they're making Yekta look so obvious as the one paying for Engin's death that I'm now starting to expect a twist. There's several levels here. Niyazi went to some club to try to get his money from a shady guy. So, at the top of the plot is either Yekta or someone else who contracted with the club shady guy who eventually hired Niyazi.

And we saw Neva with that bag of money from selling her house, was it in Ankara? If she's behind it, wouldn't Niyazi have been paid?

We saw Merdan discover Yekta's big secret: his whole successful legal firm is a fraud. But it seems too soon for Yekta to be outed. And we've seen some sort of relationship between Yekta and Merdan that could prevent Merdan from doing anything.

So, would Niyazi's hair still be somewhere in the lab to test? They're pretty sure he planted Ilgaz's hair, but do they have direct proof Niyazi killed Engin? Wouldn't he have destroyed his own hair when he replaced it with Ilgaz's hair.

Thanks again, dondi! I bet you were relieved when they just showed a repeat after the World Cup. Sonia Smith!!! And Alexi Lalas was very annoying with his comment that the U.S. women should have had 13 goals. I'm happy they won and nervous about the Dutch.

secrets

Thanks, novelera.

“Derya wouldn't necessarily brake her car if he jaywalked at this point.” Lol… we know Ceylin wouldn’t.

“I am still confused about Serdar's caper.” So am I. But it comes down to Serdar being stupid enough to steal from the “mafya”.

I am running out of patience with Cinar. Although he’s a good person at heart, he makes awful choices. He’s too embarrassed to go to Grandpa. What happened to the guy that Merdan put on his tail?

Niyazi was speaking to the shady guy at Merdan’s place. Guessing that’s where all the shady people go in Istanbul.

“Well, they're making Yekta look so obvious as the one paying for Engin's death that I'm now starting to expect a twist.” Twists are the only thing we can be certain of. We can make red herring salad out of the possibilities. I can’t shake the idea that Cuneyt and Neva are involved somehow.

Yes, we heard Yekta tell Seda that he has an “agreement” with Merdan to keep out of each other’s way. They could likely destroy each other. Merdan probably wouldn’t even need Engin’s file to bring down Yekta.

I would think Niyazi got rid of his hair. But the focus is on the glove now. Maybe they can get DNA from that.

“Alexi Lalas was [is] very annoying” I’ll put a period on that. That’s one reason I watch the Telemundo broadcasts. And I still love to hear Andrés Cantor calling a goal. It wasn’t the most exciting game. Hard to score 13 goals with the Vietnamese team hunkered down in the final third. I’ll give some credit to their keeper. Agree Sophia Smith was impressive. The US will have to step up their game for the Dutch and the Portuguese.

My Zap2it schedule shows the US v Ned game on Telemundo, Wed, July 26, 8:30 -11:00. I guess you had a repeat on Friday because you’re 3 hours behind me in the West. We went to the 11p news.

Secrets

Thank you, dondi356.

I don't quite understand why Pars and Metin are upset with Ilgaz and Ceylin. It's like Ilgaz said, they saw a suspect trying to escape and they followed him. If the police did a better job of making an arrest, they wouldn't have to. Eren pretty much announced in the forensic lab that Niyazi is in trouble, allowing his buddy to tip him off. Would be nice to share the info with Pars but things were happening fast.

"Niyazi was speaking to the shady guy at Merdan’s place. Guessing that’s where all the shady people go in Istanbul." Funny. It even made me think that maybe Merdan hired Niyazi.

secrets

Thanks for commenting, Lucio.

I sort of understand why Pars and Metin are upset. They have professional and personal relationships with Ilcey. It makes everything more difficult for them when the pair “interfere”. And it makes Ilcey look suspicious. Pars has been already been accused of favoritism. Even Eren said it would be better if they weren’t always in the middle of everything. I’m placing the blame squarely on Ceylin. She drives me crazy.

It’s possible Merdan could have hired Niyazi. novelera said “There's several levels here” and she might be onto something. There could be several characters involved in a conspiracy to get rid of Engin.

I don’t know if I can keep up with 2hr recaps this week. Maybe some notes and we can discuss and fill in the rest.
