Notes from the couch . . .

This is a long one tonight. So much happened.

PAULA

After playing musical cell phones, Rogelio and Rogelio finally touch base. He is not pleased when he hears Ulises's voice in the back ground. He is going to the club where Paula is. On his way out, he tells his mother Martina that he knows that she knew all about the party and adds that since she will have no success breaking him and Paula up, it is time for her to give it up. It turns out that Ulises is performing with the father of a student. Rogelio and Paula quickly solve their differences with him telling her that the only two people that matter to him are her and Lucas. Paula and Rogelio have a few drinks when they are out. Paula is sort of intoxicated as she goes out into the house from her bedroom to see if she can find her glass with water. She runs into Martina who does not approve of her state. Things are okay until Imelda's accident. Although Paula didn't cause it, she feels guilty because she couldn't stop Imelda from falling. Martina makes it worse telling her that she knows Paula didn't push Imelda but she contributed to the accident by not stopping it. Martina took her part to protect Rogelio and the family name but if anything happens to her grand-daughter, Paula will pay for it.

CECILIA

Ceci leaves the club to go home after getting a call from Ignacio who is not pleased that she wasn't there for their first night in their new place. She isn't into his interrogation so he grabs her and throws her on the couch. He throws herself on top of her demanding to know where she was. Suddenly he dissolves in tears apologizing. Cecilia wakes up the next day with bruises on her arms not in the mood to talk but Ignacio shows up later with silver tongued apologies and a bouquet of flowers. She forgives him. She tells Paula about how strange Ignacio's relationship is with her mother. Irma stops by one day to remind her that she needs to take care of her husband and not to be competitive with him in everything like modern independent women are. When Irma goes about gossiping about her and Paula to Beatriz, Ceci confronts Irma at her home. Irma ends up having a panic attack. Ignacio arrives and blames it on Ceci. He ends up hitting her so hard she fall to the floor. He restrains himself from crashing a vase on her and storms out in frustration. Ceci is left hysterical and stunned as Irma looks on.

ETERNAMENTE Page 2

IMELDA continues her badmouthing of Paula and Rogelio. It only gets worse when Martina tells Fernando that he cannot have dinner with Ignacio and Ceci but gives permission to Rogelio who invites Ignacio and Ceci to dinner. He wants to improve their relationship since they will be negotiating with Ignacio. Imelda reminds Fernando that was his idea in the first place.

Rogelio cooks dinner. At the end of dinner, Fernando starts to snipe at Rogelio. Ignacio thought they were getting on better but apparently not. Fernando thinks that the oldest brother should say something. Rogelio isn't talking. Ignacio says that technically would be him. Luis doesn't think that is funny and tells him to act like the oldest brother then. He gets up and approaches Ignacio. Ignacio invites him to let him have it and get it over with. Luis punches him in the face and Ignacio ends up on the floor. Ceci helps him up and they leave.

At the end of the evening after dinner, Paula passes Imelda on the stairs and says good night which opens up a torrent of insults from Imelda. She gets so overwrought she falls backwards down the stairs. Paula is able to grab her hand at first but cannot sustain her. Fernando finds his wife unconscious and she ends in the hospital. It turns out that Imelda has to give birth now. Her cervical dilation did not cause her accident nor was a result of the accident. She ends up delivering a totally healthy preemie whom she rejects. She insists that the baby is not hers and blames it all on Paula. Imelda's parents and Irma join in on it being Paula's fault.

Fernando tells Rogelio that Imelda is like she is because nobody gave her the attention she should have gotten when she got pregnant due to the fact that Paula's pregnancy was all anyone was concerned about. Rogelio has to remind Fernando that they lost their baby. That means nothing to Fernando.

MARTINA decides not to get involved with her sons and Ignacio. She ends up going to dinner at Gabriel's rather than having dinner with Ignacio. Gabriel gives her a hand carved monarch butterfly he made for her. He also gives her a heads up when Hipólito is going to be exhumed. She is angry. She attends the exhumation with her sons. In the meantime, Gabriel has tried to talk Ignacio out of publicizing the exhumation. He warns him that bad press could drive down the share price at the company which would affect him eventually.. Ignacio doesn't care and gets his employee Rodolfo to go and take photos of the exhumation. He calls Fernando and tells him that he has some photos of his father's exhumation and news outlets are fighting over them. He asks Fernando what he would like to do. As Fernando watches Rogelio and Paula enjoying themselves, he tells Rodolfo to publish them and that is the end of the episode.

ETERNAMENTE Page 3

BLANCA is still being pursued by Marco. She decides to blow off Aldo's birthday and goes out with Marco instead. They go to Chuy's (his workmate) house to have dinner with him and his parents. The next day, Marco sees Aldo hugging a girl as he says goodbye to her. He accuses Aldo of cheating on Blanca and gets upset when Aldo tells him to butt out. He punches Aldo. What he doesn't know is that the girl is Aldo's sister. Aldo threatens to file charges with the police. Ignacio talks him out of it. Blanca hears about the incident and wants nothing to do with him.

EVERYTHING ELSE

Luis is out with Aranza. Andrea runs into them and thinks that Aranza is his mother. She gives Luis her number if he has any questions about the case. After she leaves, Aranza is not sure how she feels any more about dating someone as young as Luis. Andrea tells her father what happened. He wonders why she would want a relationship with Luis of all people. She likes him but it really doesn't matter because there are plenty of other fish in the sea.

Eva gets flowers from Fidel and sends them back to him. Rogelio witnesses the flower return and wonders what is happening but Fidel isn't talking. Fidel tells Eva at Rogelio's house that he needs to tell her something. He never gets to because they never get time alone. Rogelio finally figures out what is going on when he catches Eva in his room for no good reason and then finds Fidel hiding under his desk. He and Paula have a good laugh.

Honorio tells Micaela that he would like to sell his land in order to pay for Blanca's university education. She says no, he needs to use the land to make some money for himself.

Ignacio tells Fernando that he can count on him for anything he needs.

That is all I got. Please add anything I left out.

Minas

Yes, Steve, that's what I saw as well. It's a bit weird, because in Mexico it'll take the 6:30PM time slot... Huh?

I'll check this one out. I mean, it's the remake of one of my all-time favourite telenovelas. I'll probably recap the first episode when it airs.

By the way, I've read this will have 107 episodes. La Patrona had 127.

eternamente
It was a bit hard to watch Rogelio saying we'll have dinner with these people and Martina giving in.It does feel that Rogelio loves being in charge. He does his job well, but I'd be angry if my suggestion had been rejected whereas my brother gets to propose the same thing and even mummy dearest shuts up.
I wonder when Cecilia is going to leave. He might actually kill her. It's disturbing that Irma is just watching the situation unfold. According to her, it of course is Cecilia's fault for 'provoking' Ignacio. I wonder what she thinks about her own situation and her violent husband. It's funny she advises Ceci to take care of her husband and not to compete with him when she herself might have done all this and still Hipolito didn't chose her.Oh but that of course would be Martina's fault. it does make you wonder why she and many other women even want a man to stay with them if he is so easily enchanted by another 'evil' lady. Irma taught Ignacio to hate all of them, including his father. So much for 'he was the man for me'. But I'm curious why Irma thinks Hipolito had no agency and it was all someone else's fault. I suppose admitting this would mean admitting to herself he didn't love her enough to choose her ashis wife or was just a coward.
Marco is annoying and I have lost my patience with him. I think the problem is that I haven't found anything to make him very interesting to me. He later acts as if nothing had happened. Does he honestly think Blanca would have gone along with this 'let's pretend nothing happened' game. But then Blanca is no better if she agreed to go to that birthday and later lied to avoid having to go. I can't stand such behaviour. Maybe she didn't get to tell Aldo she got permission to go before agreeing to go with Marquito el principito, but then the issue of lying is still there.
I wonder what Ignacio thought Fernando would want to do with those pictures. I find it hard to believe he'd have agreed not to publish them.
Rogelio's jealousy gets on my nerves. They've reconciled but he isn't trying to change his behaviour. He is all talk and no action. What a galan! Maybe he is too sure of Paula's love and affection as she always eventually just accepts his requests to give his mother another chance so he feels free to get mad without any consequences. She should really tell him that either he stops acting like a fool and making it seem she can't so much as look at a man or they have no future. Excessive jealousy is one of the most unattractive traits these 'galanes' have.

Eternamente

Jarifa, thank you so much for another terrific recap of two very busy episodes.

Let's start with Fidel hiding under the desk, Rogelio sitting on it, and then Fidel's rambling attempt to explain what he was doing there . I actually LOLed. I love this character which is the polar opposite of the bad biker dude that this actor played in Camino. Great comic relIef.

Ceci is a fool to not leave immediately now that Igy bas attacked her again. She should have been out the door at the first angry outburst. This guy is crazy and violent , and there isn't a big enough bouquet or house for him to be forgiven . No woman deserves this violence from a man. Irma is insufferable. Ceci, walk a way from both of these damaged people.

Marco also needs some anger management help. I was surprised that Igy stepped in to the situation to talk to Aldo. What's up with that ?

This episode it was Usually mellow Luis's turn to punch Igy.

Poor Paula is back in the Hornet's nest and being blamed for everything . Stupid Imelda was wearing kitten heel mules which are not a safe choice of footwear when you are heavily pregnant and your center of gravity is off. She probably will keep refusing to care for her baby.

Eternamente 42/43

Gracias, Jarifa. Great stuff.

It doesn't matter to Cecelia's situation whether Ignacio is genuinely crazy or if he's faking it: She needs to fly, not run, away from him. She could easily end up dead soon and we're not even at the hump episode.

No way in hell should she do what Irma demands. A Stepford Wife would accept abuse too easily.

I agree that Imelda will be a crap mother. She is rejecting her daughter because in her mind the baby failed to get her what she felt entitled to: People bowing to her and scraping the floor at her feet. One wonders if she would feel any differently if the bay had been a boy. She blames Paula because Fernando had not turned on her as she may have wanted, although that is probably happening now. He will need to find a nanny for that baby because Imelda is not interested in anything maternal beyond the social approval she would get for birthing an Iturbide infant. Of course, Martina will have to sign that paycheck.

As for the photos, I agree with Rogelio. Let that predatory paparazzo sell them to the highest bidder. Ignacio will look like a fortune hunter and his current business will suffer.

More later.

Enternamente

Thank you Jarifa for reporting all the drama!! Your recaps are what keep me watching - well mostly not watching - this is getting darker and darker. I am still hoping the great character development is coming....one hour at a time! LOL Yeah I know, I know, but maybe if I keep typing it, it will happen. Like 'if you build it they will come'.

Not really surprised Ignacio went fully violent with Cecila, the warning signs were there. She should have gotten out on day 1 or day 0 really. I can't figure out why/how Ignacio got her. She fell in love with what, exactly? He wasn't a violent boyfriend but he was a neglectful, inattentive one and now he's a creep husband....

One thing has been bugging me for awhile and I keep forgetting to comment on it. Why did Eva stay, and stay in that house, when Paula left??? That makes no sense to me! Now, Paula is back so it's less weird but you would have thought Eva would have left or gotten kicked out when Paula disappeared after finding out about Lucas!!

So many deeply unhappy toxic people, you know they need some MAJOR character development here because none of these people have any character.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, your recap was exceptional; you reflected all the tragedy and bitterness perfectly. So much transpired and you relayed it all so clearly.

Imelda rejecting her child was tragic and so sad. I even felt for compassionless Fernando…Will anyone step forward and encourage Imelda to get immediate psychiatric help? I’m not holding my breath.

Ignacio morphing into Mr. Hyde was frightening. “He ends up hitting her so hard she fall to the floor. He restrains himself from crashing a vase on her and storms out in frustration He ends up hitting her so hard she fall to the floor” was sickening and hard to watch. Ceci must leave before she is seriously injured. But sadly, as mirrored in real life, she forgives, hoping he will change, which is an exercise in futility.

Ignacio brings out the worst in everyone, even Luis! I was wishing he’d beaten him to a pulp.

Paula is very understanding; far more so than I would be. Hated when she was trying to thank Erika and she silently snubbed her. She is going to be the scapegoat throughout this. Rogelio, time to move…

Imelda never got the memo to never have an argument on a steep, spiraling staircase of death! “Stupid Imelda was wearing kitten heel mules which are not a safe choice of footwear when you are heavily pregnant and your center of gravity is off” is exactly right Susan!

“So many deeply unhappy toxic people, you know they need some MAJOR character development here because none of these people have any character” is exactly right Darcy! Well said.

Fun watching Chuy and Blanca dance. So glad to see Paco Luna among the Vencer el desamor alumni (he was one of my favs from Ringo too).

ETERNAMENTE

Thanks, everyone for your kind comments and opinions about these unfortunate characters. : )

waterlily, "Excessive jealousy is one of the most unattractive traits these 'galanes' have." I haven't seen this much jealousy so wide spread EVER among the male characters. What a lack of confidence!

Susan, "Stupid Imelda was wearing kitten heel mules which are not a safe choice of footwear when you are heavily pregnant and your center of gravity is off." Exactly and on a MARBLE staircase even. She was an accident waiting to happen besides being nuts to boot. So many deeply unhappy toxic people, you know they need some MAJOR character development here because none of these people have any character.

Urban, "She (Ceci) could easily end up dead soon and we're not even at the hump episode. No way in hell should she do what Irma demands. A Stepford Wife would accept abuse too easily.' Exactly. So far, Ceci has talked a good line with Ignacio but now it is time for her to exit ASAP. It is disturbing when one thinks back at how many women have thought exactly like Irma, Beatriz and Martina in the recent past. IMHO, I think the patriarchy would never have existed if women were as physically strong as men.

Darcy, I do not know why exactly Eva stayed at the mansion when Paula left the first time. She had not stolen Martina's jewelry yet, had she? Your guess is as good as mine. Maybe somebody else will remember. Yes, this getting darker but thank goodness it has nothing on "Amor invencible" in that department. The violence so far has been pretty much run of the mill. "So many deeply unhappy toxic people, you know they need some MAJOR character development here because none of these people have any character." Yes, "toxicity if rampant in this group.

Diana, " So glad to see Paco Luna among the Vencer el desamor alumni (he was one of my favs from Ringo too)." Thanks for bringing this up. He always is a fresh faced good guy. I like that. "Paula is very understanding; far more so than I would be. Hated when she was trying to thank Erika and she silently snubbed her. She is going to be the scapegoat throughout this. Rogelio, time to move…" ITA. I could not believe her feeling guilty because she couldn't prevent Imelda's fall. It didn't help when Martina blamed her for the same thing. Let us hope that Rogelio rises to the title of galán and Paula is rewarded in the end. I can hope, right.

Well, it is off to trade in my tv cable box for the latest greatest model supposedly.. I have been putting it off but the day has arrived.

Judy B,

I was reading through some old recaps and I came upon this comment by Judy, it made me smile: 'These cheatin' guys aren't worth jail time. But if she gets some, she can make new friends and maybe learn some new card games!' I love the glass half-full sentiment in that. I hope you are doing well JudyB! We miss you!

OT

Not sure if this is true or not.

https://asapland.com/el-dragon-season-3-release-date-cast-plot-and-everything-you-need-to-know/128311/

OT. ..Darcy, I miss Judyb' s wise , witty, wonderful comments . She is a treasure .

OT...Always used to get a kick out the bad girl planting a kiss and herself on the galan , and the galan being soooo slow to move away. We haven't seen that yet in this show.

Eva did leave. She moved in with Cecilia. That's why Fidel was following them to find clues as to Paula's whereabouts. When she is in the villa now it's because she's visiting Paula. But she still lives in Ceci's old apartment. Fidel would hide in her closet because at the time Paula's was still staying there before she reconciled with Roger Dodger.

O/T

When was Season 2?

Eternamente

Gracias, Jarifa. Oh boy, folks are showing full-blown craycray now. Thanks for all the details.

Nodding in agreement with everyone's comments. Cecilia, make your stand and leave. Viewerville can't take another scene of you being at Ignacio's mercy. Is this a PSA? Sometimes the abused freezes up and just can't admit to themselves how awful (and dangerous) their beloved spouse (abuser) is.

So Imelda says this isn't her baby. I knew she'd be a rotten mother, letting the servants do everything, but this is colmo. Who's she kidding? This is a ploy to gain sympathy and to ostracize Paula. If Fernando had any sense, he'd bring a psychiatrist on the case instead of blaming Paula. I would love a psych to say, "Nope, falling doesn't cause "this is not my baby". I predict Paula will be the main one the baby bonds with.

Beatriz surprised me. Turns out she's batty too.

ETERNAMENTE

Niecie, great comment: "Cecilia, make your stand and leave. Viewerville can't take another scene of you being at Ignacio's mercy. Is this a PSA? Sometimes the abused freezes up and just can't admit to themselves how awful (and dangerous) their beloved spouse (abuser) is." and so accurate. As a matter fact in the original version, there was a separate PSA narrated by "Cecilia" giving the viewer information on how to report and leave abusive situations. In that way, it reminded me of the "Vencer" series where each original episode included one of the actors informing the audience about all sorts of services (with contact numbers) that were available for any problem that was portrayed in the episode.

Eternamente 42/43

I have been wondering whether Ignacio's violence is an unconscious reaction to his Mother issues because of Irma having married an abusive man and failed to protect her son. This is no excuse for his actions and does not rule out my earlier-stated theory that he is faking this and is genuinely abusive.

Erica is no longer wavering and is now a major enemy to Paula. Bitch.

How old was Paula when her parents died? Did Eva raise her?

It's good that Rogelio saw through the fake surprise party. However he needs a portable charger for his cell. I'm investigating one for myself as I type this.

Finally, why does Eva always wear such long sleeves and all the beds have full comforters? The coldest it seems to get there is 41F in January.

Weirdo: 107 episodes means anticipating a growing Body Count.

vencer
I just read an article which said vencer 5 has been postponed due to its low ratings in Mexico. It doesn't mentionwhen it will air. I'm watching it now and don't get why the ratings aren't good. Pienso en ti has disappeared as well and I liked that one too. I can't seem to find the link to the article that talked about Vencer and its ratings.

Is it okay to ask what is up with JudyB so I can pray correctly?

ETERNAMENTE

Urban, interesting point. Ignacio himself has said his situation with anger is due to seeing his mother suffer which seems like it could be legit when we see the way he is constantly vigilant of how she is and wants to protect her from everything. They went through very rough times together and that is why they have an unhealthy relationship. That being said, they both need to be in treatment rather than exposing others to their shared mental/emotional problems at this time. That doesn’t mean that he isn’t also using Ceci in his revenge plot. He seems be quite a complex character.

Eternal sure

Interesting conversation about Igy and Irma. I had a friend who was the oldest of three brothers. His father was an alcoholic and abused his mother until my friend joined the football team and started weight lifting and was able to stand up to his father and stop the abuse . I wonder if Igy was ever able to do that or couldnt and therefore carries the guilt of never being a able to protect his mother . Being a protector is a heavy burden . My friend became a protector of everyone in his circle and even chose a career as a fireman protecting lives.

ETERNAMENTE

Susan, that seems like a real possibility to me.

I am very disappointed - I had really looked forward to this, especially Gabe Soto as a villain. I also like Matias Novoa and Carlos Ferro...

ETERNAMENTE AMANDONOS #44/45 Page One

Highlights from the couch . . . short and sweet . . . so glad these episodes were a little calmer tonight.

ROGELIO/PAULA are solid. Rogelio goes out of town to Miami one night for a business meeting. Erika finds out about it and sees her going to a convention being held at the same time in Miami as the perfect opportunity for a last ditch effort to get Rogelio back. What she doesn't expect is a surprise visit from Paula. Erika is humiliated as Rogelio and Paula tell her that she no longer has a chance for a romance with Rogelio. That ended a long time ago. He is in love with his wife Paula. Erika shouldn't use Lucas as a pawn to get Rogelio back. Paula shows her the door. Rogelio also makes it clear to Lucas that he is in love with Paula and that she is his wife; in other words, Paula isn't going anywhere.

ROGELIO/BUSINESS Rogelio cannot understand why Fernando handed the photos over to the press. Fernando says it was going to happen anyway. Rogelio reminds him how it is going to affect the share price as the company is undergoing negative activity because of then scandal. He also says they need to keep Ignacio off the advisory board. In order to to do that, Rogelio decides they are going to change the rules to require anyone on the board must own at least 30% of the company shares.( Gabriel actually suggests to Ignacio that he can buy shares to get a place on the board before quitting.) Rogelio also finds out about another problem that Fernando did not consider. News to all: Villa Morelia their home is not a private property but is owned by their company. A judge could could easily demand its sale in Rogelio's claim to his inheritance. Rogelio thinks they need to get busy on working on a settlement for Ignacio. Rogelio meets with business men in Miami as he expresses an interest in taking his company into air travel. He is also approached by another business man, Albert Jensen, who says he can get him into the air transportation business without putting his company at risk.

MARTINA can't keep her nose out of her family member's business. She is angry with anyone not following her directions. She meets with Luis' new love interest Andrea to try to talk her out of going out with him. What she doesn't expect is Luis showing up as well as Gabriel. Luis ends up cutting out with Andrea. Earlier Luis asks Martina what the deal is with Gabriel since she always seems nervous around him. Martina has nothing to say. At the end of the episode, she has the nerve to read Luis's diary where she finds out he is in love with Paula.

CECI/IGNACIO Ceci starts strong and arranges to talk to all lawyer. She tells a friend that she knows what she should say and be doing but it is so hard when ti is happening to you. Ignacio meets with her, apologizes and tries to explain how he feels like there is another person inside of him when he is overcome with anger. She says she cannot help him and that he needs counseling. He agrees with the hope that she will take him back. He goes to a counseling session but when he finds out he has to wait a few minutes, he gets up and leaves. He gets Paula to agree that she will come back to him eventually. He, Ceci and Irma have dinner together. It sounds like Ceci made it because Irma is criticizing her for not using clarified butter. Things must be going too well between Ignacio and Ceci, so Irma pretends to have fallen. Ignacio talks Cecilia into staying with his mother to look after her for a few days after the accident.

ETERNAMENTE Page 2

IMELDA/AVA Imelda has no desire to be near her daughter Ava. Erika tells Fernando that she is suffering from postpartum depression. It is a physiological and not a psychological condition. He needs to be patient. She will improve. Beatriz tells Imelda that she better get with the program quickly because she could easily lose her husband. Lo and behold, one night late after work, Fernando offers to give his secretary Ximena a lift home after work. We are left wondering if this was innocent or not. Fernando comes home late and is upset that Ava is sleeping with Paula and Rogelio and not in his and Imelda's room. He puts a crib on thei room. Imelda is not interested. Felipa can look after Ava. Imelda still blames Paula for her daughter's early birth.

EVERYTHING ELSE

Luis finds out he is just a boy toy for Aranza. He decides to pursue a relationship with Andrea.

Eva pawns her sister's jewelry to get cash so she can pay down/off her debt with Martina. Fidel asks her to be his novia and she enthusiastically accepts.

Erika ends up regretting going to Miami. She tells her sister/frind? and they both agree that Martina had manipulated her.

It looks like all is forgiven between Marco and Blanca. We find out she doesn't want to have children and that she has been accepted into the university's architectural interior design program.

That is all for the week. Please add anything I left out.

ETERNAMENTE

Jarifa, an excellent recap that perfectly reflected the intriguing events of tonight. Thank you for all of your wonderful recaps of (another) ten episodes this week!!

I felt for Ava and was glad there were so many shoulders for her to rest her head on and hearts to love her. What a little angel!

Martina IS a master manipulator but to be fair, she only encouraged Erika to do what she wanted to do all along; take Rogelio away from Paula. Hopefully, Paula and Rogelio (nicely) asking Erika to leave his room mortified her sufficiently so she will give up her futile quest.

“She meets with Luis' new love interest Andrea to try to talk her out of going out with him. What she doesn't expect is Luis showing up as well as Gabriel”. It was very smart of Andrea to immediately call Luis and then her father. I wish I had understood what was said during that scene. What exactly is it Martina has against Andrea? Is it that she is Gabriel’s daughter? I realize no one is good enough for her sons but…When Gabriel said goodbye to Martina, he sounded (and looked) like it was final…. Martina wasn’t chastised in the least though was she? She was damned and determined to read Luis’ diary. And she did.

Ceci is a smart girl but her intelligence is nowhere in evidence in terms of Ignacio. She should have run for her life instead of reconciling. The other shoe will drop and likely with a very loud thud. Irma is reprehensible. Throwing herself on the floor for yet another round of undeserved sympathy.

Fidel and Eva as novios! Something else for Martina to go into orbit about. I can’t wait!

Diana

Eternamente just ended in Mexico (NO SPOILERS DON'T WORRY) and I saw a lot of great feedback on how it ended and the show overall. It aired at 4:30PM there and lots of comments it should have been given primetime. Looks like Univision made the right call here and I hope they stick by it

eternamente
I liked the scene with Erica, Rogelio and Paula. However, I can't help but think that had the roles been reversed, Rogelio wouldn't have been so reasonable. This ruins things a bit for me because Paula is actually trying and Rogelio always fails when put to the test. I wonder if they will go for the old 'he saw her with another man' angle. All these galanes are very unlikable, whcih is so odd. I don't like Rogelio evne despite all his grand gestures.
Luis turned out to be the smartest and to get the smartest girlfriend. It seems he is the only one who is putting an effort to keep his mummy dearest away from his business. But now we get this. So you can't apparently even have private thoughts in this house. I don't know what is supposed to happen to Martina, but I already want her to disappear.
It's all well and good for Marco to be in love with Blanca, but she is the one who'll suffer. Paula warned her about this and Marco doesn't strike me as a man brave enough to really face his mum and fight for Blanca. He can say he'll do it but saying and doing isn't the same. Poor Blanca.Marco just doesn't strike me as a guy worht all that suffering she's about to endure.
If Imelda is really depressed, I can't believe how stupidly everyone reacts to this. It's basically 'get over it already'. Isn't this supposed to be modern? Her mother immediately started going on about how her husband will get sick of her behaviour. Those women apparently can't talk about anything that isn't 'looking after a man.' I get Imelda is nasty, but there are way too many men who, when times are tough, can't handle it without turning to other women and then blaming their wives because oh imagine, it was difficult for them too. The way wsome women talk about their husbands makes it seem they never grew up past the age of5.
If Rogelio believes that offer involving no risks, he hasn't learnt anything about business. If he agrees, now he won't be able to acuse Fernando of making stupid decisionsas this one is entirely his own. It seems he has inherited Martina's 'I can do anything I want' attitude.

Eternamente DID end last night here in Mexico, and it was wonderful.
A very special novela- entirely with its own charm, that did not need to rely on violence, blood, and OTT action that makes no sense. At no place did this novela ever "jump the shark". How often can we say that nowadays???
The cast was excellent, and Diana Bracho exceptional beyond words. I will miss it, and look forward to the next production from this producer, Silvia Cano.
Enjoy, America!

ETERNAMENTE

Forg/lecoup, thanks for stopping by with your info. When I saw the 4:30 time and its ratings in Mexico, I was surprised it wasn’t on in prime time or moved to prime time. I was just as surprised here that this is starting in the earliest possible slot with double episodes. ???? All that being said, I am happy we are having the chance to see it here.

ETERNAMENTE

Anon 6:17, Thank you for giving us your opinion on this novela. " A very special novela- entirely with its own charm, that did not need to rely on violence, blood, and OTT action that makes no sense." I totally agree. I wasn't planning on watching this novela for long with the double episodes, as if Uni were racing to get it over , but it has hooked me in. It reminds me of the great melodramas of old where they were concerned with telling a really good and satisfying story. I have no complaints about the cast and yes, Diana Bracho's performance has been outstanding. We will have to see what Silvia Caro does in the future.

Eternamente

Jarifa, you did it again ...another wonderful retelling of all that happened . Thanks so much for devoting so much of your time to bringing us your couchcaps.

My favorite part of this show is Fidel. He is smitten with Eva and their regular trysts . This actor is even better at comedy than he is at being a badass biker.

Well, Luis seems to have second thoughts about his cougar now that he has met her other boytoy. Onward .

Martina is such a busy bee trying to control everyone's lives . How can she be happy doing this ?

Ava is so tiny and adorable . I was surprised at how confident Fernando , a first time father, looked holding her . We are getting a PSA about postpartum depression ...but this has the added element of crazy ,nasty, selfish Imelda .

Ceci should have run the very first time Igy went BSC. Irma is worse than Martina.

Marco is going to be okay. He has a sweet smile, and I think he is on his hero's journey. Young dudes need time to settle down and fly right. He will .

I was sure that Pauka was going to turn and run when she saw Rog in his boxers and Erika in the room . I guess that accident made Paula decide Rog is her ride or die....no matter what. Impressive.

Diana, thanks for the update on judyb.

Judyb\nudyb....miss you so much . Sending you endless good vibrations ))))))))))

ETERNAMENTE

120 episodes and didn't jump the shark? I did see a lot of praises too, this is so promising

Eternamente

Fine job, Jarifa. I missed seeing of lot of this, but your vivid notes from the couch give me all I needed to know.

Imelda was going to be a lousy mother anyway because the baby was only a means to an end for her. A while back she turned up her nose at doing stuff like changing diapers, saying that's what the servants are for. But still, if the Despicable One has postpartum depression she needs a psych and a support buddy/group.

Cecilia has gone off the deep end of denial. How can she sleep soundly next to a guy that gets violent crazies? Sadly, looks like she will have to wind up in the hospital before realizing she can't be his savior.

Rogelio has grown on me. He seems to be doing the best he can considering the environment he's grown up in.

It'll be interesting to see how/if Fidel stands up to Martina if she finds out about him and Eva.

Eternamente

Another fantastic recap Jarifa!! Thank you!

I was pleasantly surprised when Paula didn't immediately think the worst finding Erika in Rog's hotel room, but isn't that a little too much maturity for a novela?

That baby is adorable!!! I don't know how anyone could resist her! But Imelda is pretty special, so there's that. I rolled my eyes at the you better take care of your husband or he'll get tired of your attitude speech, it does reveal something about the family dynamics though. Imelda's parents have always been so close to her but they don't seem concerned about HER! If my daughter was struggling and not able to bond with her baby I would be worried about helping HER, finding her a counselor, checking with the doctor, encouraging her to take care of herself, etc etc etc; not making comments about how she better take care of her husband or he'll get bored!!! sigh

Another eye roll inducing moment when Gabe asked Martina if he still had a place in her heart, dude, you have to have a heart to have a place!

ETERNAMENTE

Diana, you know I am seeing it as another week, another ten capítulos, what the heck! : 0 As we just found out, this ended last night in Mexico so it seems it most likely has 120 total. "Ceci is a smart girl but her intelligence is nowhere in evidence in terms of Ignacio. She should have run for her life instead of reconciling." Yes Cecilia seems to be incapable at this moment of realizing what danger she is in. I fear she is going to have to suffer more at Ignacio's hand until she smartens up. Both Ignacio and Irma are dangerous and pathetic which makes any relationship with them even more hazardous.

waterlily, "If Imelda is really depressed, I can't believe how stupidly everyone reacts to this. It's basically 'get over it already'. Isn't this supposed to be modern?" I feel like Dr. Erika has shortchanged the family in her professional role by giving them the "just give her time and she will get over it" advice for post-partum depression. I feel she should have had more concrete advice or followup scheduled to stay informed about the issue. She was way too vague even for a for PSA.

Susan, "My favorite part of this show is Fidel. He is smitten with Eva and their regular trysts . This actor is even better at comedy than he is at being a badass biker." I just love how so many of these actors are excellent at both comedy and drama. "Well, Luis seems to have second thoughts about his cougar now that he has met her other boytoy." I think it was a case of her dumping him first before he dumped her for Andrea. Aranza is far from stupid and had prefaced this all with she was having misgivings of being recognized as his mother which is something Luis nor she had supposedly ever expected.

Niecie, "Rogelio has grown on me. He seems to be doing the best he can considering the environment he's grown up in" I am right there with you. He does have a full plate with Martina, and Ignacio prodding Fernando to jump ship and sink it on his way out. It will be interesting to see if Fidel has it in him to stand up against mommy dearest.

Darcy, Interesting observations. "I was pleasantly surprised when Paula didn't immediately think the worst finding Erika in Rog's hotel room, but isn't that a little too much maturity for a novela?" Just a bit. : ) "Another eye roll inducing moment when Gabe asked Martina if he still had a place in her heart, dude, you have to have a heart to have a place!" Exactly.

Eternamente 44/45

Nobody mentioned this but Ignacio made the shrink appointment. He went to the desk to check in with the receptionist and as soon as she wasn't looking he left. It looked very deliberate.

ETERNAMENTE

Urban, yes, it was as if when Ig found out he had to wait, he couldn’t deal and was out of there ASAP. It was very convenient. Either he was not very interested in changing or would rather not have to discuss his demons if there were the slightest hope he could control himself. Lotsa’ luck with that!

O/T

My brother is coming to visit so I will be away until later this week.

I look foward to reading your sure to be wonderful Eternamente recaps Jarifa...until then I hope everyone has a wonderful week!

Diana

OT

Diana, enjoy your time with your brother! : )

O/T

I can easily do without another telenovela starring Livia Brito or Jose Ron even if his costar is Lucero!

We need new stories and faces.
