A lot of realizations tonight some good some bad.
MARTINA and her family stay ensconced in Mica's house in Cuitzeo. Gabriel repeatedly tries to convince her into moving the family in with him. She refuses not wanting to be the subject of Morelia society's judgment. Rogelio promises them all that he will get La Villa Morelia back.
GABRIEL tells Rogelio he is going to talk to a banker in Mexico City to see if he can help out. He owes him a favor. Rogelio admits that his eyes have really been opened about how hard it is for low income families. Gabriel says that is what made Martina's foundation so special. Rogelio is worried about his mother. Gabriel tells him that he has loved his mother from the first time he saw her and he will do whatever is necessary to make her happy again. For now, that means supporting her sons who are the most important people in her life. Rogelio thanks him.
MARCO and BLANCA Blanca enjoys a nice moment with Martina when she tells her how much she loves her son. They even hug. Marco talks with Toro thinking that he and Blanca could move into the hotel on wheels and pay him rent. Toro has no problem with them ling in the bus and offers him and Blanca jobs as night watchmen instead and extending the use of the utilities at the garage. Marco accepts. He tells the family that he and Blanca are moving out. Martina is not happy.
IGNACIO sits alone by himself thinking back about what his mother told him about the Iturbides and how only if he did away with them would she ever be able to find peace.
FELIPA and MELITÓn manage to get themselves hired at Villa Morelia by Ignacio . It seems to be a part of a plan to make sure that the property is kept safe. Ignacio wants the tree house taken down. Melitón says he will. He tells Felipa that he will put the boards under their bed so they can put it up again when the Iturbides come bcak. Ignacio roars anytime he wants anything from Felipa and she cannot do anything right.
PAULA tries to get a scholarship for Lucas at his school and is told by the principal that is not the issue. Patents at the school do not want him there PERIOD. They do not want the school to be connected to drug traffickers. Paula reminds her about all the foundation has done for the school. She adds that she is a hypocrite. Paula later tries to get Lucas into another school that is full up but there might be a chance for him to get in.
LUCAS still wants to go live with his Aunt Pati. He cannot appreciate a family sticking together when times get tough. He is pleasantly surprised when Cecilia brings his friend Regina to visit him.
IMELDA is visited by her mother who wants her to come home since she is pregnant. Imelda refuses the offer. She is trying to save her marriage. She has discovered that she is really in love with Fernando (even though she admits she still hates Martina and Paula). Imelda says if her parents want to help her, her father should work to get Fernando out of jail first. Her mother says he would kill himself first.
CECILIA agrees to move in with Luis since she can no longer afford her apartment now that the music school has closed down. They can split expenses and she can find another job at another music school. He is staying in Morelia for the time being until the financial problems with the family clear up. He and Marco are planning on helping them out since they are both employed. Later, Cecilia tells Paula that she is thinking of moving to Mexico City because she doesn't want Ignacio to find out that she is pregnant.
ROGELIO goes for a job interview and is turned down. it sounds like that wasn't the only time that he was rejected. Luis gives Rogelio some money to help with family expenses.
PEDRO, Rogelio's restaurant owning friend, offer him a job managing his restaurant. Rogelio says it wouldn't do for him with the amount of people he has to provide for but it would be perfect for Fidel.
FERNANDO is depressed and in bed in jail. His cellmate says that why he is such easy picking for the gangs. The cellmate says that the word is that he is a millionaire. Fernando explains he is bankrupt. The cellmate explains that he has been in for ten years after being set up to take a murder rap. (sounded like he had murdered before but just not this time) If Fernando agrees to go see his mother and gives her a hand, he will protect Fernando. His mother is ill and that is why she stopped coming to see him. He wants her to know that he is thinking of her and misses her. Fernando agrees to do that.
Fidel goes to see Fernando and passes him a cellphone under the table with a recording his daughter saying "papá." Fidel says that everyone in the family loves him and misses him but then has to tell him the truth. He opens Fernando's eyes when he tells him that Ignacio bought the house. Ignacio manipulated him because Fernando trusted him. Fernando is overwhelmed when he realizes that Rogelio was right all the way along and sees himself as responsible for the debacle that the family has suffered.
Fernando cries in his cell and ends up calling Imelda who pledges her love and support to him. He admits that he fell in Ignacio's trap. Unfortunatly for him, a guard sees him with the phone and confiscates it. His cellmate thinks he is an imbecile.
PLEASANT SURPRISE Fidel comes to visit Rogelio. He has been going over real estate records looking for anything he could find. He found some property that Hipólito purchased when it was a bargain. As time passed, the property increased in value. Now, there is a person who wants to buy the property for $5 million DOLLARS. The family is ecstatic.
That is all there is from me. Please add anything else you remember.
Hmmm . . . It is only #78 of 120. 5 million dollars? I would say don't count your chickens before they're hatched. (No cantes victoria antes de tiempo)
Jarifa, you covered both the sweet and sour with heart and humor. Your sharp and perceptive observations were relayed so vividly. So well done.
“IGNACIO sits alone by himself thinking back about what his mother told him about the Iturbides and how only if he did away with them would she ever be able to find peace”. Hounded by her own guilt and greed, it is doubtful Irma would ever have found peace, even seeing Ignacio installed as lord of the manor, at the head of table, isolated and miserable.
Loved Paula’s pretty patterned blouse and matching scrunchie. She was clearly outshone though. That fetching plaid headband and matching ruffle on Imelda’s baby’s shirt was adorable (as was the white headband). The little tyke was looking so seriously at Imelda and her mother, it was as though she understood the conversation. What an angel.
“Imelda says if her parents want to help her, her father should work to get Fernando out of jail first. Her mother says he would kill himself first”. Such familial love – Not! Ack.
I found the scene between Fidel and Fernando very touching. Hard truths for Fernando to hear, but necessary. He has paid a high price and learned a hard lesson.
I like Ceci and Luis as “roomies”. Luis giving Rogelio the money was sweet, even Martina was touched.
Blanca gets prettier in each successive episode. FINALLY – a hug! Marco is showing character growth by asserting his independence in leaving the comfort of the family and striking out on their own. I’m looking forward to seeing what they do with the bus.
Felipe must be on the edge of her seat waiting for Ignacio to scream her name and upbraid her. What a brute.
Fidel to the rescue once again!! But “No cantes victoria antes de tiempo” is a fitting warning. Too early for salvation but hopefully some good will come of it.
Diana
Thanks, Diana. ; ) I cannot wait to find out who wants to buy the property. Will it be a new character or somebody we already know? They showed Ignacio going into Martina’s green house and looking around. I hope he doesn’t end up tearing it down or using it for some nefarious purpose.
Jarifa, I shivered a bit seeing Ignacio in the greenhouse! There was some purpose to showing that scene and I fear it isn't good...:(
The only character I can think of that would have the money to buy the property is Gabriel so I'm thinking it's someone new (?) This is an interesting twist! :)
Diana
Because I'm having a busy day and I won't be able to recap #10, here are the Wikipedia highlights.
Emilia reveals to Leonardo how she feels about him, but asks him to stay away.
Although Roberta knows that Marijó is at El Tigre's house, she talks to the police to report her disappearance in order to get rid of Emilia.
Emilia is worried about Marijó's disappearance, but questions Zaira and El Tigre when she finds her living in their house.
Marijó opens her heart to Emilia by confessing all the bad things Roberta does to her; Emilia promises to take care of her.
At least Imeld's behaviour now makes more sense.
Martina is damn lucky she has someone who can stay at that vila. But how exactly would they keep it safe? The only thing they could do is spy. But having to suffer mistreatment for someone who is only your employer is a bit too much. I know they talk about how Martina and the rest are like their family, but in reality it doesn't feel like that's the case. Martina wouldn't sacrifice this much for her servants.
I'm actually disappointed in Martina. She is affraid of humiliation and so prefers to live in that house. It's funny to me she's been so brave when it came to hurting and humiliating others but when it really counts she can't face the world. So much for being 'la monarca'.
And once again we get a situation where helping someone results in them turning their back on you. I suppose you can't know these things in advance, but it's such a pity when people are so ungrateful.
Weirdo, thank you so much!
There was a scene with Orlando, his father and his father's cronies. I didn't understand what was said but he gave Orlando a check which an angry Orlando all but threwt back in his face and angrily stalked out of the room.
I fell asleep after that and woke up only to see a crying Marijo being led by Roberta, thrown into a closet (I think) which was likely one of occurrences she was sharing with Emilia.
I wish I could have added more.
Diana
Thank you Jarifa for another wonderful recap! Only episode 78? We have come so far it feels like we should be closer to the end! Lol
I like the Cece and Luis roomie vibe too!
Ignacio yelling at Felipa is hard to take! He is just miserable and taking it out on her. I wonder how he would react if she stood up for herself? Would he be violent like with Cece, or back down like he did with mommy? I don’t want to find out but I did have the thought.
It’s good for Marco to find independence.
I wonder where this hidden property is??
Jarifa, thank you, thank you. You didn't miss a beat of this popping episode . Your couchcap was a wonderful read. I am so grateful . I always look forward to reading your clear descriptions and insights.
Could I be anymore in love with Fidel, the Faithful ? Now he is carrying a diaper bag kicking *ss and taking names . I think the two actors playing Rogelio and Fidel are having a really good time portraying these two characters . I loved the jumping up and down . And Fidel visiting downtrodden , depressed Fernando in jail was heartwarming . Fidel is a hero .
I, too, like Ceci moving in with Luis . Perhaps they will be good for each other and end up together .
Diana, I noticed that darling baby with her too big bow staring intently at her mama and abuela. Amazingly, Imelda seems to have had an epiphany and seems to be slowly finding her heart.
I guess this is the calm after the storm where everyone is trying to gather up the pieces and move forward....A life lesson on resilience . I read a quote a long time ago .." Happiness is the art if making a bouquet with the flowers at hand."
In contrast to the family trying to recover from their losses, Igy is now alive with his anger . Unfortunately , poor Felipa and her hub are the convenient punching bags for his fury and desperation . Igy is a tragic soul who will have a tragic end because be has passed the point of no return.
Super job, Jarifa.
Cecilia might want to let Luis know that her husband has anger management issues. I fear for Luis.
I can buy that Imelda realizes she does love Fernando, but she still hates Paula. Now I'm wondering if Imelda will try to grow her kids up right, or will she pit them against little Jazz.
Fidel finds $5 million in property the Iturbides were unaware of? That man is worth his weight in gold.
Kudos to the writers for giving Viewerville characters that we can care about. I wish Ignacio's psych would insist he see her daily.
Gracias Jarifa. This episode was packed with stuff.
My gut is telling me that this mysterious property is somewhere on the coast and the buyer is the mysterious woman whom Ignacio is mixed up with. Who else would have #5MM US to spend ? There is too much time left in the series for Gabriel to be the hero here.
I actually liked Imelda's mother in the beginning when she tried talking her out of marrying Fernando but now she is a seriously toxic mother. Imelda now swears undying love for her husband and Beatriz can't take it. I am not sure I believe Imelda's declaration of love because she still hates Martina and Paula. Rogelio will be head of the family eventually and Fernando was the fool who trusted Ignacio.
I will post again when I get home; I hate doing long posts on my phone.
Thanks, Jarifa, for my late morning read!
I still see Luis and his ex getting back together. So not thrilled that Cecilia is moving in. If the ex was so jealous of Paula I don’t see her being pleased with a friend moving in. Cecelia is right in that she needs to go to Mexico City so Ignacio doesn’t find out about the pregnancy.
I was worried when Ignacio went into the greenhouse. I hope he doesn’t destroy the flowers. I didn’t realize he wants the treehouse taken down.
So Martina helped out the school in the past but won’t let her grandson attend! I wonder what will happen when all these people that are shunning the family realize they had nothing to do with the drugs.
I know I should have felt sorry for Fernando but I was just glad he realized it was all his fault. I was tired of him always blaming Rogelio. Imelda fed into his jealousy of his brother too. Not sure why she still hates Paula. Paula never did anything to her and has always been nice to her. But Imelda’s parents are so hateful, so she comes by it honestly.

MT chats with Nanny who tries to convince her to call off the wedding. She can’t marry Aldo if she’s in love with Santos. MT isn’t hearing it, besides she isn’t IN LOVE. Maybe she was hopeful and interested but not in love. Besides Santos, doesn’t feel the same, he’s already in a relationship with someone else. No, MT needs to marry Aldo, the man who supposedly truly loves her and get on with her life.
Bernarda can’t figure out what is wrong with the cows, the lab reports show nothing! The girls try to rally her spirits but she feels horrible especially since the vitamin regime was her choosing.
MT cries and thinks of Santos on the night before her wedding…we see flashbacks of them together. She does know how she can get married when Santos has her heart.
Adriana and her side kick are in the city too, surely for the wedding. Adri is thrilled she loves the city. They celebrate a little but Adri soon is worried about Grim again. When sidekick asks why Adri doesn’t just kill him since it wouldn’t be the first time she’s done it, Adri goes crazy and nearly chokes her sidekick instead.
Vale goes to see Santos and he pretends his only concern and reason for not coming to see her the night before was worry for the cows. Vale believes this and the making out commences.
Pepe (is this Pepe? I haven’t been paying much attention to the names of the bad guys) goes to give an update to his other boss. He’s nervous about being away and tries to rush back but instead receives the bad news that the boss has another job for him.
Sidekick carefully greets Adri the next morning, but Adri wants to pretend nothing happen….Is that what she’s wearing to the wedding? Wow! Not quite the conservative lady look.
MT looks beautiful in her wedding dress but she shouldn’t be wearing it. Estaban still hasn’t noticed his daughter is miserable and instead talks of happiness, how proud MT’s mom would be, etc etc. MT gets a special gift, a necklace that was her mom’s for the wedding.
Remedios goes to confront Santos about Valentina. Santos tries to convince them both that he and Valentina could be perfect for each other. Remedios nods but looks doubtful.. she tells him to be careful with his own heart and with Vale’s.
MT arrives and greets Aldo…..lots of talk about how Aldo is going to take care of Estaban’s daughter. Is this really going to happen?? Marco and Adriana arrive, I guess she is wearing that to the wedding. Off to see the judge we go!!
Bernarda is trying to help the cows using the remedies Remedios gave her. She and Santos talk about what the causes could be. Bernarda is talking about paying for the losses herself if they don’t fix the problem since she thinks it’s her fault. Santos doesn’t agree but Bernarda is determined the only hitch is in order to pay for it she’ll have to ask Marco for a favor….they discuss Santos’ distrust of Marco and his certainty that Marco likes MT.
The wedding starts, every one looks serious rather than happy…. except dumb Aldo who looks like the cat who ate the canary. The judge asks for signatures and daddy signs (I guess as a witness). Aldo signs. MT is next, big dramatic pause but it looks like she is going to sign!!!! The police show up just in the nick of time (imagine that) and stop her. Aldo is being arrested for FRAUD!!! Fraud of what, yep, of MT’s own company!!! MT and Estaban both try to defend Aldo and Estaban tries to keep them from stopping the wedding. The cops are insistent they have plenty of proof. Aldo is carried away and Adri and sidekick are highly amused and doing a poor job of hiding it – not that anyone notices.
Santos and Bernarda continue to talk and Santos wants to know just how well Bernarda knows Marco. It must be pretty good if she can ask him for money. Bernarda deflects and downplays.
Clemente is in the office when one of the cops makes in offhand remark indicating Rutilio’s hand got injured by an angry woman, Clemente is surprised as he thought his dad was injured on the job.
Estaban and MT find out that Victor himself has said that Aldo is his accomplice. MT doesn’t believe it and says to help Aldo. Marco takes advantage of MT’s distress to get closer and comfort her.
The book club ladies meet and we find out that Norma isn’t the only housewife that Adri has been giving ‘how to keep your hubby happy’ advice! Norma tries to interest the ladies in checking out Clemente’s art – without saying who the artist is – to no avail.
MT is beside herself and can’t calm down, Estaban FINALLY comments that MT didn’t seem sure about getting married but she claims it was just a feeling she had that this wasn’t the right time..Estaban says if MT isn’t sure she shouldn’t continue her relationship with Aldo, but MT feels guilty. Aldo doesn’t deserve this!!! (LOL) Especially now that he is being wrongfully accused of fraud.
Marco and Adri discuss the turn of events and Marco thanks Aldo – all the way to his jail cell – for the opening. Adri thinks Santos might still be in the way but Marco says Santos isn’t on his level.
Santos rallies all the troops; they are going to overcome this obstacle! Everyone cheers and Cris says tonight they will celebrate at the bar no matter what happens! One of the guys accidentally bumps into Vale and Santos tells them to be careful of his girlfriend!! Making their relationship official and known.
Next morning, MT finally finds out there’s an issue with the cows and is off to call Santos.
The police officer (I am sorry I forgot all these people’s names) and the thug (is he Jackel?) are plotting their next route in the POLICE STATION, when Clemente enters without knocking and sees them together. He retreats quickly but looks suspicious. He tries to ask questions after the thug leaves but gets told off and told to mind his own business.
The guys are all congratulating Santos about Valentina and Cris is looking pretty thoughtful, is he jealous? He did say Vale was very beautiful.
Santos finally talks to MT and she finds out they are working out the cow issue. He finds out MT didn’t get married!!! She doesn’t explain why, just says it’s complicated and she’ll tell him later. Santos is looking hopeful – did he forget Vale already?
MT tells daddy that Santos says things are okay but she’s not convinced… Bernarda is an excellent vet, how did this happen?
Cris finds Santos looking all hopeful after the MT phone call and is ready to read him the riot act. Santos CANNOT go back to MT, married or not; she is forbidden to him!!! Plus, you know, you just committed to make a go of things with Valentina dude!
Thanks, Darcy, I enjoyed your recap. I hadn’t known why Adriana got so mad that she was choking her friend. Also loved your “cat that ate the canary”. A good description of Aldo. I’m still wondering why he’s so anxious to marry MT. I hope we find out!
I was hoping something would show up in the bloodwork of the cows. Poor Bernarda, blaming herself instead of Marco.
I hope Clemente figures things out-and gets to put his dad in jail!
Will Santos break up with Valentina? I hope so!

Diana, if I understood correctly, Orlando's father and his associates are transporting goods for which taxes haven't been paid and they want to make sure the trucks that transport them aren't noticed. Orlando's father wants Orlando to be involved in this business.
Adled Berto's wife is concerned her dear husband isn't interested in her anymore. Her friend advises her to go to a bruja, i.e., Tiger's partner Zaira who tells Berta her husband has a lover. Berta, however, doesn't want to believe it.
It also appears there aren't enough money to pay the miners. I believe they were told they would only get half the salary. Leonardo orders they be paid from his personal account.
People of San Lorenzo found out the notario is a paedophile and would quite like to murder him. They are promissed the investigation will be started and there will be justice. Sure there will when they elect Zaira's pig as a mayor.
Oh and Emilia tells Leo she can't fall in love and there can be nothingbetween them. I think this was one of the first telenovela phrases I was sure I could understand because without it there's no telenovela.
I'm not sure I got everything right.
waterlily, thank you so much for clarifying the Orlando scene!!
Appreciate your additional, very helpful notes as well.
Leo is a good man, wanting to ensure the miners are paid.
I sense Emilia will weaken because as you noted, without love "there's no telenovla".
Thanks so much again!
Diana
waterlily, exactly! Felipa and Melitón are there to spy.
Darcy, "I wonder how he would react if she stood up for herself? Would he be violent like with Cece, or back down like he did with mommy?" Interesting point. That whole situation with Ignacio treating Felipa like he does is disturbing. The only way I can see her being there is that her husband Melitón is there, too. I would trust Ignacio even less if she were there all alone.
Susan, "Could I be anymore in love with Fidel, the Faithful ? Now he is carrying a diaper bag kicking *ss and taking names ." Yes!! I was so impressed with how gentle he was with Fernando when telling him that yes, it all had been his fault for being so quick to believe Ignacio and plot against his own brother.
Niecie, "Kudos to the writers for giving Viewerville characters that we can care about" It has been a while for me whether it be in telenovelas or in other productions.
Liz, "I wonder what will happen when all these people that are shunning the family realize they had nothing to do with the drugs." That will be very telling. Will "La Monarca" rise again in society circles or will her and her family's reputation still be diminished because of Ignacio's scheme?
Urban, "My gut is telling me that this mysterious property is somewhere on the coast and the buyer is the mysterious woman whom Ignacio is mixed up with. Who else would have #5MM US to spend ?" We have to find out the identity of that mysterious woman sooner or later, so why not now?
"It's funny to me she's been so brave when it came to hurting and humiliating others but when it really counts she can't face the world. So much for being 'la monarca'" was well said waterlily!
"Fidel, the Faithful" had me smiling Susan; and yes, it appears Rogelio and Fidel have a close relationship. So much fun!
Liz, I didn't understand Iggy wants the tree house cut down so thank you...
Urban, yes, I think the prospective buyer might well be the mystery woman!
"Would he be violent like with Cece, or back down like he did with mommy? I don’t want to find out but I did have the thought". And it was an insightful one Darcy. Yes, I don't want to find out what Ignacio will do either.
"Kudos to the writers for giving Viewerville characters that we can care about". Amen, Niecie, Amen. :)
Diana
Gracias, Darcy. Great job.
Did anyone else laugh at Aldo's wine-red suit and pale lavender tie? He seems ignorant of the fact that blonde men look best in navy blue. Marco was better-dressed than he was.
Adriana's outfit was inappropriate and slutty.
Characters' Names:
Irasema: Adriana's sidekick
Trejo: The corrupt police chief with the mariachi mustache
El Chacal: The Jackal whose real name we don't know.
Aldo wants La Esperanza for the same dirty business; he is involved already. He believes he can out-think everyone else but he is incredibly wrong.
Darcy, thank you for the excellent recap!
“The wedding starts, everyone looks serious rather than happy…. except dumb Aldo who looks like the cat who ate the canary” was perfect. Aldo’s arrest occurred with moments to spare. What was so perplexing is that there seems little doubt Maria Teresa would have married Aldo had fate not intervened. I was a little surprised Santos didn’t go after her either. Now, she is suddenly single with “only” Marco and comely Valentina in Santos’ and Maria Teresa’s way.
Maria Teresa’s hair was simply gorgeous! What a beautiful job her hair stylist is doing (I assume they are also doing Adriana’s whose hair is similarly lovely). I didn’t care for the wedding dress though, too plain on top and showing too much cleavage; mermaids just aren’t my favorite.
Adriana is on a very short fuse these days. I was surprised meek and mild Irasema was speaking up, now is not the time to taunt the tiger.
I wonder how they are going to find out what is transpiring with the cows…
Norma’s fashion transformation was short lived, last night she was wearing butternut squash.
Others have commented and I agree that Cris feels something for Valentina. He protested (rightly) but a bit too much that Santos made a commitment to her!
Diana
The Iturbides could end up being surrounded by narcos no matter what they do now.
I think Lucas has been behaving like a brat. I don't think he will get into that second school and he will have to go to online school.
Ruben is still in for a few shocks.
Ignacio is a monster. No matter how good his shrink is I don't think he wants any help.
Busy day. Just watching the episode now . It seemed that Fidel put an envelope Orlando's pocket, and I didn't see Orlando remove it . Smarmy Adalberto seemed to be teasing Orlando about blood in his veins ..yuck. Don't you just wish you looked like Orlando and had his young blood .
Thank you to Weirdo and Waterlily.
Fidel went to Orlando's office , and they were talking about Orlando's mother, but I don't know what they said.
It seemed that Seb told Emilia that he just wants to be her friend ...sure....right.
Episode 31: Notes; Part 1 of 2
Adriana and Irasema laughed over cocktails about Aldo's arrest and Maria Teresa's reaction. The waiter came with champagne for them from two attractive men at the bar. Adriana spoke wistfully about going back to the city.
Esteban's lawyer talked about how many calls there had been between Aldo and Victor. Maria Teresa was still sure that Aldo was innocent.
Santos was late picking up Valentina for a date for which he wasn't especially enthusiastic.
Clemente went home and Norma told him she had talked his artwork up to Adriana. Just as he was about to ask a question Rut came in. Clemente could not escape eating with both parents.
Valentina had to go inside when Beatriz came out. Santos told her she had to update Maria Teresa about the cows.
Marco went to see Maria Teresa, pretending to care. He began leading her to trust him over both Aldo and Santos.
Norma tried to persuade Rut into a weekend family vacation in the city. He claimed having too much work. This almost became an argument.
Cris and Santos drank in the bar as Cris tried to flirt with Susi. She told him about her parents and gave him a free beer.
Marco left Esteban's place. Esteban still believed that Aldo was innocent.
Nani told Maria Teresa that the arrest was an act of God and that she should regard this as a sign she needed to think this out again.
Valentina showed up to help load the truck [Shouldn't she be in the henhouse?]
Maria Teresa visited Aldo in jail. He was shaking in his designer shoes at the news that he would be transferred to the prison. He predatory-looking cellmate watched.
Adriana bitched about Puerto Bravo but noted that at least she had property. She and Irasema had been bickering and that was getting on her nerves.
Armando showed Esteban documented proof of Aldo's guilt. He was shocked [...and so are we, as Armando had previously been involved].
There was now a plague in the orchards at La Esperanza.
Maria Teresa looked at the file and saw that Aldo had been in cahoots with Victor. She went nuclear.
Santos sent someone to check the pesticides while others sorted the fruit, hoping to find some that were not affected.
Maria Teresa was also angry with herself for not having seen this sooner and feeling like a fool for having trusted Aldo. She became determined to get even.
Episode 31: Notes; Part 2 of 2
Marco spoke with the Jackal who wanted to go into more detail about the disasters but Marco cut him off when he saw Adriana and Irasema enter the room. He told him they would talk later and ended the call as Adriana told him that she and Irasema were going shopping.
Genoveva went to Remedios to get help against the plague.
Norma started talking about Adriana's art collection only to have Rut condemn these as pretentious foolishness. He ended this with a negative comment to Clemente.
Armando told Esteban and Maria Teresa that there was adequate proof to clear Esteban of all charges.
While the mangos appeared to be okay everything else was infested. Santos was worried that all was lost.
Armando escorted Maria Teresa to see Aldo in the interrogation room. She slapped Aldo twice as let out her rage. She took off the engagement ring, put it on the table, and walked out with a threat.
Santos tried getting the others to wash the fruit but Remedios told him there was nothing to be done for this.
Trejo brought a briefcase full of cash to Rut from which he received a cut. Rut reminded him “No witnesses.”
Remedios tried to tell Santos that plagues are nobody's fault. He was certain that they would have nothing to deliver.
Esteban asked Marco to help. Maria Teresa took a call that we know Marco would find amusing.
Clemente almost ran into Trejo whose hands were filled with money. He told him he wanted to see his father, but Trejo led him away, saying that Rut was busy with something important. [Most likely thinking about how many visits to a hooker that money would buy him]
Santos called Maria Teresa who freaked out at the news of the plague. She told Esteban. Marco managed to contain his glee.
Santos blamed himself for all this. Remedios tried to encourage his usual optimism but [Sorry, but I get really irritated at the idea of God testing people.]
Maria Teresa was stressed out and Marco asked what she needed. He offered his whole property's output to fill her order.
Darcy and Urban, thank you for the wonderful recaps. I was happy to understand why Adrianna roughed up Irasema. I tried hard to understand what Ira. said to Adri but I could not understand it all despite rewinding the scene several times.
At some point I hope Irasema becomes independent of the domineering Adrianna. I loved her comment about Adri having killed before. Perhaps she is so docile out of fear of becoming another victim.
I was also glad to know Clemente heard about Rutilio's scar on the hand being caused by a woman. Eventually I think Clemente will learn all about his crocked dad and about what really happened to Marco's father.
Urban, I enjoyed your comment about Marco pretending to care about what's happening with MT.
I like seeing Aldo go to jail. I always enjoy your descriptions of his clothing and footwear.
I can't wait to see how Santos will handle the eventual break up with Valentina. He will probably do that as soon as he becomes aware that MT is available.
I also look forward to MT and Santos learning who is sabotaging la hacienda and why.
Lester
Urban, thank you for your very fine detailed summary of this very frustrating episode.
My favorite line of many was “Maria Teresa visited Aldo in jail. He was shaking in his designer shoes at the news that he would be transferred to prison. He predatory-looking cellmate watched”. Aldo will be downsizing his wardrobe, no pastel shirts and summer blazers, only regulation prison garb.
I felt for Maria Teresa as not only has Aldo broken her heart, but the plague on her crops has also cut her to the quick. She will now likely lose complete confidence in Santos who is beside himself and rightly so. Further, Marco is waiting in the wings supposedly to help her but ultimately to destroy her.
“Norma started talking about Adriana's art collection only to have Rut condemn these as pretentious foolishness” has surely discouraged Clemente even further. Rut is heartless and a brute.
Adriana and Irasema’s arguments are escalating. Adriana certainly is the dominant force in the relationship. I don’t believe she needs Irasema at all (unless to keep her close by and silent). Irasema is surely disposable and would be well served to watch her step.
“Santos was worried that all was lost”; well-placed worry.
Diana
...and Adriana will have Grim to thank for that.
The only way Marco could have Maria Teresa would be by bribing some unscrupulous doctor -- like the one from PNP -- to perform a lobotomy on her.
So how long will it take for anyone to prove that Marco is the mastermind behind all the trouble at La Esperanza?
"The only way Marco could have Maria Teresa would be by bribing some unscrupulous doctor -- like the one from PNP -- to perform a lobotomy on her". 😊
Couldn't agree more Urban! Character is so totally unappealing (unlike the actor). I think Santos will put two and two together.
Diana
Thanks Urban! I am just watching now, busy day!
I am really glad they outed Aldo now instead of dragging on this MT feels some guilty obligation to stand by Aldo while he's in jail. I can't stand the guy and we have plenty of vilains without him. Let Aldo rot while we move on!!!
I don't however think that Santos will dump Valentina the minute he knows MT is free. I think he really does believe - or want to convince himself - that he and Valentina could work out. They grew up the same, have everything in common and he knows Vale loves him and chooses him; where he believes MT chose Aldo. I think he will keep trying to make it work with Vale into he's forced to admit to himself that he never will. Or even better and less traditional option - until Vale realizes she doesn't want a man who doesn't love her and SHE dumps him!!! I vote for that but I think we still have many episodes of them together before the break up. We shall see.
Notes from the couch . . .
THE MAIN EVENT
THE PUPPETEER IS REVEALED
Fidel further informs Rogelio the property is in Martina's and her sister-on-law's name (Olimpia Iturbide Vda. de Lascuraín)(Vda.: Viuda/Widow) They need her signature to complete the sale. Rogelio remarks that his mother never let them see her. Paula asks Rogelio why he never knew about the property. He says that he never really knew all the property that his father owned. Paula wonders about Martina knowing. Rogelio thinks that she probably didn't remember it or maybe didn't want to remember. He reminds her of Martina's reaction when his aunt was mentioned and it wasn't good. Ever optimistic, Paula tells him that when the property is sold, they will all be in the clear. Martina has no use for Olimpia and doesn't want her sons going to see her.
Rogelio, "Marquito" (little Marco) and Luis pay aunt Olimpia a visit in Mexico City. She is a jewelry designer and the owner of a very exclusive jewelry company. She, also, is quite the public figure and the first time we see her she is preparing to give a lecture entitled :"Women: The Motor of the Mexican Economy." Her assistant is Cassandra. (She is a member of her family but we never find out how) First, Olimpia makes her nephews wait while she does her half hour of meditation before she deigns to see them. She enjoys making them wait.
They finally all meet. Olimpia and Cassandra are aware of the Iturbide family's financial problems. Olimpia calls Marco "Marquitos" which gets under his skin from the beginning. He is increasingly rude to her in their interchanges and she eventually tells him to call her "Ud." and not "tù" since he still is so "very" young. ( Marco really acts like a self-entitled *ss which, unfortunately proves Olimpia's description of her nephews to Cassandra as having arrogance running through their veins. ) Rogelio does most of the talking and when he feels Olimpia is repeatedly getting off track and stalling, he cuts to the chase. She and his mother own a piece of property that they would like to sell. They have a buyer but they will only deal with one seller. They will be buying the entire parcel. So, Rogelio would like to buy her out or she could buy them out to make the sale. Olimpia sees no rush. If they are being offered a good price now, they could be offered a better one in the future. She is not interested in selling now. Rogelio cannot believe it and asks her what has she against his mother. Olimpia reminds them that they are the ones who came to her asking for something. Marco tells her that the land will be sold one way or another. She asks him if he is threatening her. The brothers leave.
Olimpia tells Cassandra that she was hoping that Martina would have come to talk to her. Then she could have enjoyed herself seeing Martina humiliating herself. In the past, Martina got the better of her. Now she has the power.
The brothers tell Paula how difficult their meeting was with Olimpia. Paula is optimistic saying it was only their first meeting. Rogelio reminds her that their financial problems are not stopping. He goes to see an old friend about a job, but the guy is busy. They will catch up next week.
Rogelio tells Martina that Ollimpia refused to sell them her half or to buy theirs. She enjoyed annoying them. Martina is not surprised. He also says that their emergency funds will run out before the end of the month. Martina offers to pawn her jewelry, Rogelio says he is going to continue looking for a job through his friends. She insists she will be selling her jewelry if he doesn't get anything.
In the meantime, Olimpia touches base with her nephew Ignacio who has been operating as her puppet. Felipa overhears the conversation at Ignacio's place. She is pleased with their progress. She reminds him that when she first found him, he doubted that her proposal would work but since she was able to finance him in establishing his business, he now owns Villa Morelia and the Iturbides are begging for help. Ignacio doesn't see much good having come to him since he sisfeeling just as empty as ever. She assures him that the best is yet to come. She won't be done with the Iturbides until they have been crushed. Felipa gets on the phone and tells Micaela what she heard.
Martina travels to Mexico City on her own and goes to see Olimpia. Martina knows how much Olimpia must be enjoying her current sitruation. What is she going to do to help her brother's children? Is she intending on playing with her a bit more? She tells Olimpia not to punish her nephews because of her. Olimpia and Martina exchange some insults. Olimpia makes a point that she is not the same person as she was before. Martina doesn't care and asks her : What does she want???
EVERYTHING ELSE
CECILIA gets a visit from Ignacio at her old place. He wants to know why she left him. She tells him that she is sick of his quest for revenge. He starts raging at her and she locks herself in the bedroom. He goes crazy when he sees baby items on the table. He demands to know if she is pregnant. She never answers. He swears that she will not hide his child from him and leaves. Cecilia moves in with Luis and tells him she is pregnant. She feels alone. She doesn't want her child to have an absent and violent fatherlike Ignacio. Luis says she has all of her friends. She is not alone.
IMELDA visits Fernando. She is worried about him. He explains he has protection from an alliance he made. He asks her not to come because he is not comfortable with her traveling there by herself. She explains that all of the family came to see their Aunt Olimpia. Fernando says she was always a strange bird. Imelda and Fernando say they love each other. She leaves him with a photo of her and Ada.
FIDEL does very well at his first day at work as Pedro's manager at the restaurant. He catches a waiter stealing silverware.
BLANCA talks to Toro about a job. He has nothing at his business but his mother needs somebody for company and to clean her house. It would be afternoons only. She starts to tell Marco about the job and says she will not accept it if he doesn't approve. (BAD decision to give him that power)He thought that she was gong o continue going to school. She reminds him that their situation has changed. After she tells him about the job, he says that HIS WIFE won't be cleaning OTHER PEOPLE'S houses.. She is shocked by his attitude. It is a decent job. He doesn't care. She tells him that maybe she doesn't like HIS job repairing other PEOPLE'S cars that leaves him all filthy.
FERNANDO should be out of jail shortly. The results from the signature analysis are back from the graphologist and the prosecutor;s office now knows that he did not sign the form authorizing the shipment of the drug filled boxes. It was faked. He tells his lawyer that he needs to find some value in himself as a human being. All of this happened because he acted like an imbecile and paid attention to an idiot. He is going to have to face his family.
As soon as he is out of jail, Fernando plans on making Ignacio pay for what he has done.
ANDREA and LUIS meet for a friendly talk. He tells her that he is staying in Mexcio because of his family's issues. She cannot see herself giving up her work for a anyone except maybe her father or maybe . . . she never finishes her thought out loud.
FELIPA and MELITÓN turn into two laughing hyenas. Felipa encourages Ignacio to eat so he won't get sick. He is surprised it would matter to her. Don't she and her husband hate him like the Iturbides do? Felipa pauses and says he is a human being and it is not good to see him all alone., depressed and abandoned. Melitón starts laughing. Felipa tries to explain it as a nervous laugh. it is something that happens when he is under stress. She starts to laugh, too. ignacio asks if the same thing happens with Martina. They assure him it does and leave cackling all the way out.
HONORIO is concerned that Micaela hasn't had money to go see the doctor as she should. He suggests that they take their share from the land that he is renting out. She refuses not wanting to see babies go without milk and food. She thinks of some more inexpensive things she can cook.
EVA thinks her baby has died when it finally sleeps through the night. She has to hold a mirror up to its nose to see if it is still breathing and it is.
Please add anything I left out.
There were so many new details tonight with the new character Olimpia. I cannot wait to find out what happened between her and Martina that has led to such hatred between the two of them. Felipa and Melitón cackling away were a hoot as was Eva with her mirror. I am so glad they didn't cut those scenes. More later.
As you noted, Jarifa, tonight was replete with many details and new characters. As always, your marvelous humor and details shone and illuminated so much.
“THE PUPPETEER IS REVEALED” had me smiling away. Had Olimpia been alluded to before now?
The big meeting to facilitate the land sale was doomed from the start. First, couldn’t Luis have foregone the T shirt and opted for a button down one instead? Marco was simpering and annoying (in all of tonight’s scenes frankly). Olimpia toyed with and needled them expertly. And Cassandra smirking throughout the entire scene was a bit puzzling. It wasn’t THAT funny ☹
Felipa and Meliton were a breath of fresh air. For a moment, I thought Ignacio was going to erupt in fury at Meliton’s laughter. You never know with him.
And yes, Eva and Fidel worried that the baby had stopped breathing was at first alarming but the mirror “trick” had me smiling. When she held her later, the baby cracked me up with her bemused expression, hanging around checking out the conversation. Fidel is a shrewd one! No one puts anything over on him.
“As soon as he is out of jail, Fernando plans on making Ignacio pay for what he has done”. Good. Ignacio’s traitorous acts deserve it. Well, we knew Ignacio would find out Ceci is pregnant and now he knows. She is in grave danger.
Marco was playing the macho card tonight in a very unflattering light. I do want Blanca to be able to continue with school and hope she doesn’t have to take the part time job.
In terms of wardrobe, it was check, check, check. Nearly identical shades of lavender and white checks on Martina’s apron and Gabriel’s shirt. Rogelio in blue and white checks for his appointment, later, sporting a pink and white checked shirt. Olimpia wears a rose on all her couture; Martina has her ever-present butterfly.
Diana
Could someone explain how buying out works in this case? I mean, how would Rogelio buy Olimpia's part when he has no money?
So Olimpia was the one behind the plan. I have to admit I enjoy watching her interact with Martina because Martina is definitely arrogant. That whole family is. I just hope whatever Martina has done isn't a small thing and is interesting enough not to make it seem poor Martina is actually being treated unfairly by her evil sister-in-law.
I wonder what it's like to have so many properties that you don't even know some of them exist.
It's such a pity Ignacio doesn't realise he can do real harm to his child and only thinks of this situation as Ceci wanting to keep him away from his child.
Marquito lives up to his name. I forgot how annoying he can be.
I was irritated with micaela for not going to the doctor . I know babies shouldn't be left without food but what abouther health? Does she think she'd be very useful if she fell ill or died? I really dislike the degree to which she's devoted to this family. No one should be in a position where they have to neglect their own health for someone else. It saddens me how much servants absorb the idea that their masters come first. It's not admirable, it's tragic! Are things like that in Mexico even today? Honorio should have insisted Micaela come to her senses. I can't remember what he responded, but he definitely talked about how he admires her precisely because she puts others first. Is it obvious by now how mad I am?
I didn't realise Casandra is a member of Olimpia's family.Maybe someone remembers how this was brought up?
Diana, thanks for your “check, check, check”. Sometimes I forget that yes! there is “costuming” even in these contemporary novelas. I will have to look more than listen one of these days. ; ) Things are sure moving along quickly!
I sure hope Fernando gets out of jail tonight and pays Ignacio a visit before doing his inevitable mea culpa tour with the family.
waterlily, Olimpia told the Iturbide boys that Cassandra was part of her family when she introduced them. No other info was given and since they rarely give complete info on cast lists, Fernanda Borches’ character was only listed as “Cassandra” with no last name.
Does anyone remember Fernanda Borches (Cassandra) from “El hotel de los secretos” where she played a double role one male/the other female?
Mauricio keeps Nico busy and asks him questions like how old he is. I guess Mau isn't the best math student because it takes him WAY too long to calculate.
Emilia shows Leo where Marijó is. Ezequiel and his police gang arrive with AK-47s and everything! They say they have an order, which Ezequiel shows them for half a second, kind of hard to read that my dude. Emilia, Leo, Zaira and Tigre buy Gael and Marijó some time. Ezequiel even hits Tigre, which earns him a slap from Leo. The police push them away and go in the room where Marijó is staying. She and Gael thankfully had time to escape. They STILL look around the room and Zaira says "You think she's in the drawer?" LOL.
Ezequiel snitches everything to Roberta.
Joaquina is praying to the Virgin Mary. Roberta comes in and tells her the Virgin doesn't help traitors; she knows she betrayed her and tells her she helped her by going to Tigre's house.
Orlando, Berta and Jenny are in Roberta's house. Adalberto isn't because according to Berta "he's busy". Jenny and Mau get back together. Orlando looks like he doesn't approve of Jenny's decision (no one does, mate).
Roberta tells Joaquina to not hide anything else from her or she'll frame her for Ignacio's death.
Marijó and Gael keep running until they go to some sort of house. He asks her to be his novia and she accepts. We get a kiss!
Orlando calls Ezequiel and tells him to leave.
Adalberto is in fact busy, with a worker in the local brothel. Fidel is also there. Orlando walks in and asks to talk with his dad in private. He (Orlando) tells him to stop this ridiculous kidnapping, the police even had an order that happened behind his back! Fidel tells him something about not wearing pantalones (?) and some Florecita, who also appears to be working there, comes in the room.
Emi and Leo talk in her truck. They almost kiss, but Sara pops up and makes a scene because he doesn't answer his phone calls. Afterwards, they get into yet another fight about Emi.
Emi tells Seb about seeing Roberta kissing Fidel and that's the reason why she's after them.
Leo returns to his home; he tells Joaquina he feels responsible for the police going to Tigre's and Marijó's kidnapping. Joaquina tells him she found out where Marijó was but didn't tell anyone.
Leo prays for Emi's safety.
Thanks,Weirdo. I found this episode a bit confusing.
It appeared they wanted Orlando to sleep with the girl? Because he was told he has to 'complir' to Florecita and then I believe his father told him he'll make him a real police cheef or something similar.
Then Roberta was apparently pleased the kids escaped because she told some guy whose name escapes me to follow them. So was this a plan or did I misunderstand? The kids apprently got lost so I wonder how they are going to find them and what's supposed to happen. Why oh why my Spanish isn't C1 already?
Thank you Jarifa for expertly providing all the details as always!! I missed some of it (also as always) and it's wonderful to have your recaps to fill in the gaps!
Yes, the big reveal of who the mystery lady is behind Ignacio's schemes - well funding them it appears! I can already not related to her at all. I am dying to know what happened between her and Martina, but whatever it is, I can't imagine treating any of my nephews the way she treated hers!! It's not the kids fault! Although it's a fair point that they are all arrogant too....still my nieces and nephews have auntie wrapped around their fingers, lol. I can't imagine even hesitating to sell if they were in dire financial need and needed something from me!
Speaking of, aren't the rich and financially solvent supposed to be all responsible and have a 6 month emergency fund?? It's hard to imagine that a family successfully running a multimillion-dollar business would be out of funds by the end of the first month!!! That's extremely poor financial management!!!
It always cracks me up when they tell prisoners, we know you're innocent so we will be freeing you tomorrow! Shouldn't they have to release you immediately when they have proven you innocent? I know this happens, but it makes zero sense to me, what authority do they have to hold him in prison another night when they have cleared him?? I don't like the idea of Fernando going after Ignacio - he might deserve it, but it isn't smart. Calm down, think, and form a plan! They are just going to get in a fist fight which may or may not bring more problems.
Weirdo, your sparkling humor shone throughout your great recap especially “I guess Mau isn't the best math student because it takes him WAY too long to calculate”. Too funny and oh so painfully true 😊 I also liked “Zaira says "You think she's in the drawer?" LOL”. Zaira is a hot ticket.
Orlando walked into a den of inequity and held himself with dignity head held high. What was transpiring was cringe inducing although I didn’t understand most of the dialogue. Thank you for your explanation of Orlando being goaded but being non responsive waterlily.
What did the letter say that Ezequiel found say – it seemed to be something incriminating against Gael??
“Jenny and Mau get back together. Orlando looks like he doesn't approve of Jenny's decision (no one does, mate)”. Again, Orlando was rather inscrutable in spite of Jenny’s longing looks which everyone present surely must have noted especially loathsome Roberta.
Is Sara going to have any plotline other than chasing Leo around demanding he pay attention to her?
Like Orlando (who is so handsome I have to try and focus on what’s being said), Leo is a good, strong man. I wonder how long Emi is going to be able to resist.
Diana
Gracias, This has been a pivotal episode.
Olympia is Hipolito's sister and probably saw Martina as an arribista back in the day. Martina could have become as cold as she is and snobbish as she is as a defense mechanism. Did she mostly freeze Olympia out of Hipolito's life, which could also be her motive for this? Secondarily, does she know the extent of Ignacio's psychopathy? How much contact did she ever have with him in the past?
As for Marco's behavior, Olympia started this. She addressed him as "Marquito" from the outset and must have known that he is a legal adult before he entered the office. An adult who is married and has a job. She compounded the insult be repeating that after he effectively informed her that he is addressed as Marco. It all went downhill from there.
I agree that Marco was a male chauvanist jerk with Blanca about her job offer.
Congrats to Felipa for connecting the dots about Ignacio.
Cecilia should leave town ASAP. She is in grave danger. Furthermore Ignacio has enough money behind him now to take the baby away from her. That could -- and likely will -- change drastically before the end of this story, but Cecelia needs to protect herself now.
Weirdo , thank you for an excellent recap . I haven't had a chance to watch this episode yet, but now I will understand it better . This is the second time that Mau has asked Nick how old he was and looked like he was doing calculus .
OT...Weirdo , I went to see " My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3" last night. Gorgeous views of Greece . I thought of you.
Thanks, Jarifa, it looks like we have two more villains now! I didn’t realize Felipa had told Micaela about Ignacio’s conversation with his aunt. But I did remember she liked to listen to the conversations of the family. I’m glad the family has someone inside the mansion.
Ignacio says the family hates him but that’s clearly his fault. Fernando should not go after him, especially after just getting out of jail. He was the one who stuck by Ignacio, which makes Ignacio a real fool for having his only friend put in jail. I don’t see Ignacio ever being accepted by the family. He’s burned his bridges.
I enjoyed the fun moments in this episode. It’s good to have some relief from the gloom.
I guess when Ignacio spoke to his Tia in the past we should have figured out which side of the family she was from. His mother only had Beatrice.
Marco was annoying tonight. I’m hoping Blanca can go to school in the mornings and work in the afternoon.
Liz
Susan, PESE is one of my favorites. It was my first novela and have seen it twice but still have been trying to catch episodes when I have time. Loved Camil in that role and the whole cast. What fun!
Just catching up on this. Thank you Weirdo for continuing to provide us with your wonderful and funny recaps!
Diana, the note said that Gael was running away with Marijo and the family shouldn't go to look for them. The police tried to suggest it was proof that Gael kidnapped a minor but Zaire pointed out Gael is a minor too and Leo said it's obvious that Marijo left willingly and there was no kidnapping. He told the officers not to try to pursue that angle.
When Leo and Sara were arguing I believe he broke up with her. It wasn't really clear so I'm not 100% sure. He ended the argument by saying it's over and I can't continue with this lie. Meaning their relationship is the lie? That's what it sounded like but it was also talking about how he lost himself - who he truly is - when he moved to the city and left his family and the mine behind so he could have meant that his city life was the lie and that is what is over. So maybe he was breaking up with Sara and maybe he was just telling her that he wasn't going back to the city life she is so eager to have him go back to.
I am tickled pink with these new developments- we FINALLY of my favourite Telenovela trope of all time- the evil aunt!!! 😊
I doubt she will be the serial-killer type, like so many of them (this isn't that kind of novela) but still, like you all, I am DYING to find out the backstory and find out what chaos she will try and wreak now that she has been "outed".
I was delighted to see that the actress playing Olimpia is the actress Nubia Marti, who is a very accomplished and distinguished actress with a career trajectory of over 50 years in Mexcian entertainment.
I recognize her from Mexican films and some of Azteca's most renowned telenovelas of years gone by. Nice to see her come into the Televisa fold!
Darcy, thank you so much for answering my question! I knew Leo was defending Gael, but didn't understand what the issue was about the letter.
So, we don't know if Leo and Sara are over...thank you for explaining all that...I just thought he was (rightfully) upset at her constant nagging. Even if he did break up with her, I don't see her meekly going off into the sunset. It's just going to add fuel to her already stoked fire.
Diana
Thanks, Jarifa. I like the way you dished out the main event and the sidelines.
What is up with Marco? He seems to have regressed. Since Tia Olimpia is three times his age and hasn't seen him since he was a snotty little squirt what's the harm in her calling him "Marquito"? Did he forget that they desperately needed something from her and not vice versa?
Hurrah for Blanca! I loved her response to Marco: "She tells him that maybe she doesn't like HIS job repairing other PEOPLE'S cars that leaves him all filthy."
I still do not like Martina, so I do want to believe that Olimpia has good reason for revenge and that she doesn't know that Ignacio is a powderkeg.
It's wrong but I do want to see Fernando sock Ignacio. He treated that imbecile like a real brother.
Fidel was so cool catching the waiter pilfering silverware. He shines wherever he goes.
Niecie, Olympia was very condescending.
I am probably not far off the age of this actress and I remember feeling exactly like Marco when people that age treated me as though I were a destructive and insulting brat upon first acquaintance when I was his age. I never do that to teens now without first seeing evidence of immaturity.
But I agree with you about Fernando slugging Ignacio.
For Tierra fans: Give me about 2 hours. I was at the movies last night.
Jarifa, thank you for giving us every detail as this episode rocked and rolled .
Marco must be feeling a little frustrated and cranky with all the drama lately. Because Tia seems to have touched a nerve by calling him " Marcito." . Family often tends to hang onto nicknames . I am still Susy to some of my relatives and close friends , and it doesn't bother me.
Igy is now complete!y off the rails and BSC. I hope Luis doesn't get in his path if Ceci decides to move in with Luis. Ceci needs to alert Rogelio and the family about Igy right away. He is a danger to everyone.
Fidel , the ever watchful and competent , is stealing this show . This actor is amazing .
Blanca is standing up for herself with her young husband . Good for her.
Jaime, I didn't recognize the actress playing Olympia from Azteca, but I did remember Felipa and Gabriel's ex from " Siempre tuya Acapulco" and wondered how many other Azteca actors and actresses we may see in Televisa shows.
Episode 32: Notes; Part 1 of 2
Maria Teresa tried to decline Marco's offer. Esteban said she should accept so as not to default on her contract. He also mentioned her pride and his legal bills.
Clemente asked Trejo about his father's hand and was blown off with something vague. He asked about the money and Trejo said something about depositing in into an account for city matters. He then became suspicious about Clemente's enquiries about Rut.
Maria Teresa caved. Marco took out his phone and prepared to call. Maria Teresa wanted her people to load the trucks but Marco implied that they might not be as good or trustworthy as she thought in view of recent events. She didn't fall there but insisted on going home ASAP. Marco said he would get the helicopter ready and tell Adriana and Irasema they would be leaving shortly. Maria Teresa then went to pack her suitcase.
While Bernarda, her daughters, Cris, and Remedios talked with Remedios trying to get the others out of the dumps, Santos rode Galán like Clint Eastwood in a 1960's movie.
Irasema sipped wine while Adriana tried on a new sexy dress intended to make Rut want to rut. She then remembered she had to buy a gift for Norma.
Bernarda was seriously worried as she spoke with Regina.
Maria Teresa and Esteban said their farewells. Marco came in, saying the copter was ready, and he took Maria Teresa's suitcase.
Santos returned to the stable not feeling any better. All he was hoping for was that Maria Teresa would not sell the property. Neither he nor Valentina could imagine how it all came to this. He did not want to stay if that happened. [Valentina, think about this.]
Clemente told Norma he had not had a chance all day to talk to his father. Norma was hoping he would get a safer job but he was alright with this because it gave him a chance to help people. He then found out that Norma thought that Rut's hand injury was incurred at work. It had bled quite profusely.
Bernarda became concerned that Maria Teresa would not return from the city. Santos and Valentina corrected that, Santos saying he wold call her.
Maria Teresa and Marco arrived that evening. She told Santos and Cris to get the truck clean and get it over to La Soltera to pick up products. She seemed to miss or ignore Marco's dismissive manner to Santos' objections. Santos finally complied and gave her the side eye as he and Cris left. Marco again tried to get her to termiate her people but she was adamant about her word to her employees. Marco still got in a dig about Santos.
Santos ran to Bernarda's house to tell them everyone had to help He explained why and added that he didn't like this.
Maria Teresa handed the list to Marco who said he had everything on it. She asked what he wanted in payment. He made a big deal that this was not business, that he was helping and she was not to worry [One should always worry about words like these.] he insisted on going to supervise this and she insisted on going with him.
Bernarda suspected Marco's intentions but did not explain this to her daughters.
Episode 32: Notes; Part 2 of 2
Maria Teresa and Marco saw Adriana just outside La Soltera's hacienda. She had not been aware that Marco had pledged their crops and dairy products to Maria Teresa but did not give away her ignorance of the deal. She and her wine glass went back inside and Marco invited Maria Teresa in for a drink.
Clemente sat in his room taking sign language lessons from an app on his cell. Unfortunately Rut walked in on this just as Clemente was learning how to form questions. Rut asked about this and finally said that no deaf person had ever come into his office and he could not understand why his son would want to learn this “useless” thing. That was met by Clemente saying “You don't learn because you can't.” Rut claimed he had worked through many dangers and pointed to his left hand. That got Clemente to ask him about it. In return Rut asked why he was so curious about it.
Santos and the other workers from La Esperanza arrived at La Soledad to find that the Jackal was supervising his crew in loading a truck almost full of produce. He was sarcastic until most of La Esperanza's workers were led to the dairy area.
Marco told Maria Teresa the story that ended with him falling off his horse into a pile of bovine excrement. Maria Teresa laughed, saying that this was much worse than her first riding experience. She then lamented not having seen Aldo as he really was and Marco talked about how her life will get better. The Jackal came in with Santos close behind. He reported that all was loaded and ready to go. Santos wanted to go with the merchandise but Marco insisted that the Jackal do this. Maria Teresa told Santos he was needed at La Esperanza. She said Buenas Noches to Marco and left. The Jackal gave Santos a dirty look.
The next morning Clemente went into the kitchen after Rut had already left. He told his mother his father caught him learning sign language to more effectively communicate with Regina. Norma was not pleased because she is Bernarda's daughter. She considered this situation dangerous.
Maria Teresa saw Valentina and Santos kissing. She told him to get the workers together.
Norma told Clemente that Bernarda hates men and you never know what she would be capable of. When he said that her daughters were nothing like her Norma said she would talk to Bernarda to let her know that Clemente was not alone. He wanted to talk to Bernarda first. Norma then realized that Bernarda did not know about his relationship with Regina. [There should be a joke about 2 helicopter mothers but – alas – I am not a humorist.]
Maria Teresa told everyone that they were alright for the moment but now had to prepare for the next month. All agreed. She wanted to talk to Santos, then Bernarda wanted to talk to her first.
Inside the hacienda Bernarda claimed responsibility for the milk problem and said that Maria Teresa should take the loss from her pay. Santos said this couldn't have been prevented. Maria Teresa said she would think about it. Bernarda left. Maria Teresa told Santos they needed to recalculate the next month's numbers. Hr tone was Strictly Business.
Trejo started wondering what business Clemente had at La Esperanza. He had revealed nothing.
Marco called the Jackal who was still on the road. He made sure he wasn't being followed and Marco told him to advance two more kilometers in case Santos was following him. He was to get the goods clearly signed for at the destination and to do only as told by him.
Clemente gave Regina another drawing. They were to meet in town the next day.
Marco was pleased with how is plan was in play, but told Adriana nothing.
Regina told Valentina she was afraid of being rejected by Clemente's parents because she was deaf. Valentina told her that was unlikely.
Santos finally told Maria Teresa she was not like he knew her before and asked why she did not marry Aldo.
Darcy, I so agree with how long it always takes in so many shows for the innocent to be released after they are found innocent. Really? So funny.
Urban, I, too, wonder about how much contact Olimpia had with Ignacio in the past since she “found him” in the present day which leads me to believe they were not in continuous contact.
Liz, “It’s good to have some relief from the gloom.” It certainly makes this much more “watchable.” I do not do well with something this long that is just heavy drama.Let is hope they keep all the fun scenes in.
Jaime, I am liking this “evil aunt” trope. I never saw this actress before but she so fits her part.
Niecie, “It’s wrong but I do want to see Fernando sock Ignacio.” Well, I know it is wrong, too, but it could be so right if he knocked him on his butt!
Susan, yes, Blanca better stand up for herself NOW not years down the line. Ignacio is BSC. Cecilia better have a plan to get out of town. She never should have left him in when he came by to visit.
Urban, you did a fantastic job with yet another frustrating episode fraught with mis and non-communication along with the advancement of Marco’s reprehensible plans.
Thank you for lightening the mood with “…Santos rode Galán like Clint Eastwood in a 1960's movie” and “Adriana tried on a new sexy dress intended to make Rut want to rut”.
I was getting impatient with Maria Teresa’s seemingly purposely ignoring the tone and content of Marcos’ words and visuals aimed toward Santos. I loved the “side eye” he gave Marco; Santos knows he is masterfully manipulating Maria Teresa who is sadly and inexplicably falling into the same trap she did with Aldo. I realize she has been hurt but she really knows little about Marco and should be questioning things a bit more. Esteban is no help either!
“Norma told Clemente that Bernarda hates men and you never know what she would be capable of”. Norma is not only dull, but she is also delusional and insipid. I was further annoyed when Clemente “said that her daughters were nothing like her”. Why would he say that?? Regina has never badmouthed her mother and if he is basing that assumption on gossip, I’m disappointed.
“She and her wine glass went back inside and Marco invited Maria Teresa in for a drink”. 😊 Rather than spending all her time shopping for vulgar fashions, Adriana should consider directing some of that energy into trying to find out what Marco is up to.
I wonder if Santos is going to get any sort of answer to his question or if Maria Teresa is going to deflect.
Diana
Thank you Urban for giving us all the deets. I was a little confused as to whether Marco was planning to sabotage his own rescue truck or not. I guess he wants it to arrive as planned, it really doesn't help him any to sabotage it I guess if he wants MT to be in his debt.
To be fair to Clementine, Bernarda has pulled a gun on him atleast once (I can't remember if she also held a gun on him the night of the shootout at the ranch, I think she did) and she's made it clear that she doesn't want him near her daughter. He's also heard from multiple sources - Regina, Vale, Santos, and mom - that Vale doesn't allow men near her daughters. He has good reason to believe Bernarda is a man hater and he knows that Regina and Vale aren't so I think that's all he meant when he said they weren't like their mom.
It is frustrating to watch MT be so trusting of Marco. Every time she spills all her secrets and every detail of her plans to Marco I want to throw something at the screen!!! NOO!! Which reminds me, I was shocked when Esteban was so shocked at Aldo's guilt, I could have sworn he suspected him early on. In episode 1 or 2 when Aldo visited Esteban in jail he was so cold and angry, I thought for sure he thought his future son-in-law was involved and just couldn't prove it.
UA: Thank you very much for the full-scale recap of this week's episodes.
Darcy: The group of female Antagonists are quite intriguing.
Jarifa: Sounds like we're getting toward a conclusion very soon with the new Turkish TV Drama coming to replace this one in the 7:00 PM CST timeslot.
I had warm , fuzzy feelings for Mau for about a minute and a half when he got out paper and colored pencils for Nick so he could draw while Mau was still working out the math of Nick being 6 ( 2 hands).
I still love Seb , but , you know ....Leo. It seemed like Leo definitely voted Sara off the island . ...but that will not stop this girl.
I think that Orlando shook his head a slight " no" when Roberto was quizzing Jenny about marrying Mau. Again....why does sweet Orlando like Jenny?
It seemed as though the rameras that Fidel was introducing Orlando to were in Fidel's office ?????
I love Zaire purifying her home and Tigre with those bunches of herbs . Cinthia is having fun with being the good witchy woman .
has 40 episodes to go and Tierra only has 28, so that will end first unless Univision does doubles again.
