Pinar Deniz, our crazy Ceylin, won the Best Non-Spanish Speaking Actress award at Premios PRODU 2023 (Latin American equivalent of Emmys). She posted a nice acceptance video.
OT – Turkey continues its success in the worldwide TV market. The dizi, Yalı Çapkını, for which I have a serious addiction, was the winner of Best Non-Spanish Speaking Series at Premios PRODU 2023. Its leading actor, Mert Ramazan Demir (love him), won for Best Non-Spanish Speaking Actor. I heard HBO Max has picked up the dizi. Don’t know if that’s for Spanish and/or English viewing.
Ilgaz speaks with Judge Melek in the hallway. She asks if there’s been news from Pars. No, he replies, he isn’t at home and isn’t in the courthouse. You know he resigned. She knows.
Melek is very upset over this. To leave like this is not proper, she says. I understand he’s devastated, but we all are. He should have had more respect for his position. Leaving during an investigation is avoiding responsibility. He should have waited until there was justice for Ridvan.
Ilgaz tells her they were in constant contact about the investigation and that’s why he’s nervous. It doesn’t make sense for Pars to leave like this. He didn’t attend the funeral. Melek is surprised to hear that. She replies, I thought I missed him because of the crowd. She agrees it’s strange. Ilgaz wants to check Pars’ phone records. He asks for her permission. She’ll give it.
Ceylin meets Rengin and Aydin in a restaurant. Aydin apologizes to her for the way he behaved. She readily accepts it. This case is important, and this crime can’t go unpunished. You’re doing the right thing. Silence is not a solution. Aydin leaves for practice.
Ceylin takes out a notebook. I know it’s hard for you, she tells Rengin, but I need all the details so he can get the maximum punishment. When was the first time he harassed you? Was it at the club party? Please don’t hold anything back.
Ilgaz comes to the station. Eren tells him that Cafer, aka Kesik, was Igor’s son. That’s why no one said a word. He worked as a driver, went out on a delivery and never returned to the store. He went to an address near the cemetery. Igor is taken from his cell to identify the body.
Ilgaz tells Eren he has a court order to check Pars’ phone.
Ceylin and Rengin come to see Derya at court. Ceylin tells the DA they are submitting video from the security cameras. They will confirm everything. Derya asks, are there witnesses? Yes, here are the names to contact for statements. We are filing a complaint to ensure that Muhsin’s continuous harassment towards Rengin Hanım doesn’t go unpunished.
If this is as you say, Derya replies, we’ll process it immediately. She tells Rengin, you have nothing to fear. If a woman fears, the rest will fear. It won’t be easy, but you must be very strong during the process. Rengin says she wasn’t sure. I’m a woman after all. Muhsin is very powerful, he knows a lot of people. I’m sure he’ll come after me.
There’s no such thing as gender in this office, Derya tells her, harassment cannot be covered up. Aggressors can’t get away with it. Rest assured, I’m taking this matter seriously. Ceylin asks Rengin to wait outside.
Derya asks Ceylin, do you think it’s normal that Pars didn’t attend the funeral? Maybe he feels guilty, Ceylin says. He turned off his phone, he didn’t get the texts. Derya says that Ilgaz got permission to check his phone. [I don’t understand why they seem angrier at Pars than worried something happened to him.] Derya says she’s going to the station.
Ceylin and Rengin leave the courthouse and reporters recognize the soccer star’s wife. Be strong, Ceylin tells her, don’t be ashamed. They ask, are you here to testify about your husband? Is it true you are divorcing? Did you know Muhsin resigned? Do you know why they fought?
Ceylin answers, we are here to file a criminal complaint because of the harassment Rengin has been subjected to. We’ll give you more details soon. Thank you.
Igor IDs his son, Cafer. He’s in shock. He turns to Ilgaz and Eren. Why is my son here? Did you kill my son? Who did this to my son? Eren tells Igor to calm down. Igor addresses Ilgaz, is that why you won’t talk? Because you did it? You… tell me what happened. Who did this?
Eren says they found Cafer in the cemetery. We don’t know who did it. Igor blames them. You ruined my system, he says. Eren loses patience. What system? Gambling system? Lying or murdering system? Igor threatens, be thankful you don’t have a son… pray… you better pray! Eren orders the cops to take Igor away. Igor keeps shouting to pray. You’ve been warned!
Anil shows up and asks, did you want to see me? Ilgaz says they are there to see Goksu. Ilgaz tells Eren they need to look at cameras to find out how Cafer was brought to the cemetery.
Ilgaz asks Goksu about the button she found at the cemetery. He stares at it and gets a troubling thought. I don’t like this, Eren. He asks Goksu, do you have any other evidence? I found two hairs on in the deceased’s hand, she answers, not too long or short. Black, female type.
Ilgaz and Eren walk outside. Eren says, you mentioned it, but Ozge is a small woman. What would she do with a gun? She’d be scared. How could she find Kesik when we couldn’t? It sounds impossible. This Kesik was a mafia hit man. Do you really think Ozge found him, shot and killed him, and buried him? Ilgaz doesn’t know, but thinks she’s involved somehow. Let’s look at surveillance footage.
Derya arrives at the station. She asks, did you check Pars’ phone records? Not yet. Derya tells them she’s at the station to file a report about a disappearance. Eren asks if it’s for Pars. Derya jokes, not a bad idea. I could put an ad in the paper! “My future husband abandoned me.” I could offer a reward if he’s caught, and we marry.
Derya says she’s there to report that her gun is missing. It was in my desk and now it’s gone. Flashback of her looking. Ilgaz frowns and asks, only you and Ozge have the keys to the office, right? Derya confirms that and asks Ilgaz, doesn’t she have yours? Another clue pointing to Ozge.
Ilgaz tells Derya they will know where Pars is once he turns on his phone. Eren brings news that the last signal was from around the courthouse. There’s no signal after that. Derya is angry again at Pars, but Ilgaz looks concerned. He tells Eren to look at the satellite system. Derya goes on about Pars’ irresponsibility. It’s a disgrace! She storms out. [maybe she can’t face that something bad might have happened to him.]
Eren and Ilgaz check footage from the water store to the cemetery. They start on the main road from the time the water order was placed. They spot Kesik leaving the store. And there’s a taxi following. Ozge is in it. Ilgaz tells Eren to send someone to the courthouse, see if there’s anything we can use for identification.
Ceylin comes to Eren’s office. Ilgaz and Eren enter. Why the long faces, she asks, did something happen? Is it about Pars? No, Ilgaz replies, we can’t reach him, he doesn’t answer his phone. Eren tells her the last phone signal came yesterday at 11a near the courthouse. After that, nothing. Ceylin asks, is there anything else?
Ilgaz leaves the station to see Ozge. Ceylin wants to go with him under the pretext that Ozge isn’t well. Ilgaz knows this and that’s why he didn’t call her in for a statement. I’m going to her house to ask her calmly. Wait, she says, we could be wrong. And what if you’re right? Ilgaz hopes he’s wrong.
Ceylin says, I think you’re wrong. She doesn’t seem capable of killing anyone, but what if she did? That’s serious. And that’s where I come in as a lawyer. I won’t say a word unless it comes to that, I promise. Ilgaz gives in.
Eyup has fixed the pool hall cash register. Cinar is grateful and impressed with his new friend’s skills. So much so, that he offers to let Eyup stay at the pool hall. Let the guys know if you need anything. We’ll make you comfortable. You’re looking for a job, stay here. And I’m looking for a friend. What do you say? Eyup says yes.
Umut goes to Ozge’s desk and takes a hair tie.
Ilgaz starts by asking Ozge about her visit to Pars. Yes, she went to ask about Ridvan’s killer. Did he give you any information about the killer, like the name? No, Ozge replies, do you know who did it? Ilgaz says yes. He’s dead. I wish he hadn’t died, Ozge says, I wish he’d done his time.
Ilgaz asks, where did you go yesterday after work? She answers, uh… I went to the courthouse and took a cab home. She starts to tell the Ceylin version of the story. The driver took her somewhere else. He was from the other side. Anyway, I got home and fell asleep, she says, I was trying to escape the pain. Ilgaz asks, were you near Karahamet Cemetery? I don’t know, she replies, where it is?
Ilcey leave. Ilgaz wonders if Ozge has caught on they are suspicious of her. Ceylin says, you did your job. You saw Ozge and Kesik in the footage. It’s natural to think she followed him, that there’s something. You asked, that’s it. Ilgaz asks Ceylin to get something to eat. She smiles, we were taking a break, remember?
Eyup is out walking and he’s on his phone. I did my part, he says, you told me to earn their trust, and I’ve gone above and beyond. He’s a fan of mine. It’s your turn. Eyup is speaking with Omer! Alright, Omer says, don’t say I didn’t warn you. Not everyone can take something like this. You’re about to watch every minute of a murder. We’ll see, Eyup replies, make it happen.
Omer sends the video to Eyup. It’s the video of Serdar’s death. Eyup is riveted. Serdar… He’s anguished. Brother… Eyup becomes enraged and kicks the bench he sat on.
Ilcey talk about Pars over dinner. Ceylin remembers how he was after Neva died. He took a break and locked himself up at home. He didn’t want to see us or answer calls. He went missing. This is different, Ilgaz replies, Derya is very upset. Ceylin says, wait one more day. He’ll turn up. Derya shouldn’t overreact. She didn’t think how he’d feel when she said she wouldn’t have his child. He was heartbroken. Then came Ridvan’s death.
Ilgaz asks, what does that have to do with it? Don’t be so hard on Derya. He asks, wouldn’t you go crazy if I disappeared? Ceylin jokes, well, yes, but we’re not engaged. If I put myself in Derya’s shoes, it’s normal for her to panic. Ilgaz notes they are married. He warns, don’t dare say it’s only on paper. I wasn’t going to, she replies.
Why do you care, Ceylin asks, do you want to know how I’d feel if you disappeared, or something happened to you? Alright. Maybe I’d go crazy if you disappeared. If I realized something bad might happen to you, I’d beg God to take me and not you. I’d die for you, Ilgaz. Ilgaz seems pleased with this answer. What should I think, he asks, should I come to a conclusion? Should I get my hopes up?
Don’t know, Ceylin replies, you can get your hopes up if we get along. I’ve given it a lot of thought. What separates us, unfortunately, are our professions. You have no idea how to be a defender and I have no idea how to be a DA. [haven’t they had this discussion before?] It’s hard for the two to be on the same page and get along. We are not compatible, that’s why we clash.
I think there’s only one way out, Ceylin suggests. When we’re at court you have to forget I’m your wife, and I have to forget you’re my husband. It won’t matter what setbacks we go through. I just want to feel like your wife when I come home.
Ilgaz supposes, let’s say I catch you doing something illegal. Maybe it’s just a feeling I have. So I just come home and hug you? Exactly, she exclaims, by day I want to bash your head in at the courthouse, but at night I want to kiss you at home.
Ilgaz is smiling. Ceylin continues, we are both in love with our jobs. It’s okay. But once we get home, we should put work aside and think about ourselves. Let’s try to protect that space. [I think they tried this before and it didn’t work.] Ilgaz says he’ll give it a shot. [good luck]
They take the good feeling from dinner back to the house. Ilgaz asks her, don’t go. I want you to come back. I will, Ceylin replies. Did you miss home, he asks? He takes her coat off. He puts his arms around her from behind. I don’t know if I miss it, she replies, but I miss sleeping with you. Ilgaz does too, and he misses waking up and seeing her grumpy face.
Ilcey are about to kiss. Ilgaz remembers her necklace and her ring. He goes to get them from the bedroom. He finds his ring first and puts it on. He can’t find Ceylin’s necklace or ring. Ceylin’s got them. How did they get here, Ilgaz asks. I wanted them with me, she replies, so I may have taken them. He slides the ring back on her finger. Here’s the kiss… they don’t make it into the bedroom.
Eren reads a report—90% match. He’s upset. Meanwhile, Ilcey are waking up together. Romantic talk. Ilgaz can’t believe this is happening. We made a promise, Ilgaz Kaya, Ceylin says, and that’s why our marriage will continue…. as long as we love each other, no matter what. [or until you find out what I did with Ozge.] You won’t be able to get rid of me for the rest of your life [that might not be very long.]
Kisses are interrupted by Ilgaz’s phone. She says he should answer. He gets up to get the phone. It’s Eren with the bad news. Umut took Ozge’s hair tie. It had hair on it. Kesik… Ilgaz interrupts, it wasn’t necessary, I spoke to Ozge. She has nothing to do with this. Eren says she does. Ozge’s hair matches the hair found on Kesik.
Ilgaz flashes back. Goksu found the hair. Ozge in the taxi. Button missing from Ozge’s sweater, and she sewed on a different one.
We cut to the bazaar. A merchant arrives to open his jewelry store. The man gets a horrific surprise upon entering. There is a severed hand on a rotating display. It has a note stuck to the palm with a pen. The note says: “All your loved ones. One by one.” If I’m not mistaken, it's Pars’ ring on that hand.
I can’t believe they did this to Pars. We are out.
Wow! Dondi you are taking the blows for the rest of us. I can't believe that hand with Pars ring on it either. He wore it all through the show and we saw it every time we saw his hands. This dizi is SO cruel. I really thought Pars was just hunting Ridvan's killer and was gobsmacked when I saw that hand.
Again I'm late on commenting. Today I had a wedding. That makes it a funeral, a Halloween party, and a wedding in a week's time. I feel like my head is spinning. I am most definitely going to lie low this weekend.
I loved Derya's way with Rengin. She was better than Ceylin in convincing her that pressing charges against the dog soccer manager is the right thing to do.
Igor gave me chills saying that Eren should be glad he has no son. But he does have a daughter. I hope Eren makes sure Tugce is safe.
And, speaking of Tugce, she was, of course, right about Eyup. The way this dizi is going I'm not sure Parla will make it to the end.
I for one was thinking Eyup was connected to the Balkan mob. But it's Omer. Omer gets more sinister every episode. It does sort of look like he has a thing for Ceylin.
Thanks, Carmella, excellent recap! I will be watching the novela rather late tonight as I was at a wedding reception a couple of hours away from where I live. But I can sleep in tomorrow so there's that.
I have an awful feeling Braulio might kill his own father. That was surely an action packed episode last night. Now that Juanito/Andres has the shares Braulio wanted, I don't expect him to be a loving father to the boy. The whole reason for the adoption was keeping Amalia happy so she'd get those shares out of her father.
My fingers are crossed something stops Consuelo from marrying Crazy Eyes. He's gone totally nuts. Early on he didn't seem all that into her. Now he checks on whether she's in class or not and LOCKS HER UP! Like someone else here commented, crawl out a window, dummy!
I have a hard time getting some of their names straight, but the guy in D.F. who has a thing for Nuria drives me nuts. He kissed Eugenia, getting her hopes up. And then he more or less said that a kiss doesn't mean anything.
Thank you novelera for your comments. His name is Chalo and he’s very annoying. Very childish in his approach to women, imo……
So, his “holiness” does indeed perform the wedding ceremony much to Jacinto’s chagrin. Chelo has decided to become a sacrificial lamb to a psycho…..everyone claps at the conclusion…..
Amelia talking to a worker is concerned about Andres continuing to want Diego to be his father. The worker assured her it will take time and that it’s a process. Amelia later talks to Diego and asks him about the accident, and if he knows anything about Andres’ parents. He says no……..
Roberto and Braulio arrive at the office, and Braulio senses that something is wrong. Roberto wastes no time in accusing Braulio, who finally admits that he did it, but it was for the family and the business…..
At the wedding Chalo and Jacinto are talking, but not for long cause Fausto shows up and tells Jacinto to leave…..
Meanwhile, at the orphanage still talking to Amelia, Diego sticks to his story about finding Andres after the accident……
Nuria shows up at Santi’s hotel room after the wedding. He asks her how the wedding went and if she visited her son’s grave and told him about them. She says the wedding was fine and, yes, she did tell Andres about them…. they make love……
Back at the office, Roberto tells Braulio to turn himself in—-if he has any decency——or he will. Roberto is now in full heart attack mode, falls to the floor, and asks for the pills in his bag. Braulio retrieves them, but is in a zone and just stares at him as he passes out. He opens the pill bottle, but Roberto is already unconscious. Braulio begs him to wake up and eventually calls for help, but ends up taking Roberto to the hospital himself…..
Back at the mansion Andres is charming the obtuse Martha——if you can call it that. She was trying to write a letter to her daughter, but ended up tossing it. Braulio calls Martha and off she goes to the hospital in a state of panic…..
The mysterious Tigre opens a locked closet door that is full of pics of the Zepeda’s, hmmmm….
Santi, in the afterglow of lovemaking with Nuria gets a call about Roberto and says they have to go….
Lianna is drinking and gets a call from Aida about Roberto. Lianna starts having visions of her parents’ death and blaming herself if anything happens to Roberto….
Andres charms Aida, and there’s a lot of hugging going on. He says that his grandfather will be alright, but is clearly concerned…
Martha arrives at the hospital and does a lot of crying and begging Roberto not to leave her or the family…..
Lianna arrives at the hospital and Braulio informs her that Roberto found out the truth. Her and Braulio then get into it about how in the world did Roberto find out. Lianna lies and blames Gaitan, but Braulio ain’t buying it…..
Nuria and Santi return. Santi leaves and Nuria sees Angustias and Chalo talking to a cop about the missing Esmeralda. The cop says that they won’t be looking for Esme and this upsets Angustias terribly…..
Something has happened to Andres’ bracelet and Amelia agrees to fix it. Andres still doesn’t remember much when Amelia asks him about it…..
Jacinto shows up at Chelo and Fausto’s and they get into a fist fight. Sorry, but Fausto seems to be besting poor Jacinto….
Thank you, Carmella! Another excellent recap.
I really enjoyed the interactions of Diego and Amelia, two adults willing to put aside their own feelings for the good of the child. I love how Amelia was willing to allow Diego to stay in Juan's life and even gave him a job and then when Juan wanted to go to see Diego's apartment, Diego stepped in to explain that a mom couldn't allow her son to go off with a strange and that Diego is a stranger to Amelia, this explained the situation so Amelia didn't have to be the bad guy and say no herself.
Yes, Diego needs to tell the truth about the accident, but I'm really not that mad at him for keeping quiet. I think it's because I agree with what the doctor told him the one time he did tell the truth. Diego is the very best thing that could've happened to Andres/Juan in that moment and he needs him now. If Diego told the truth (to anyone other than that doctor) in the beginning, he would have been separated from Juan instead of being his only support; if he tells the truth now, as understanding as Amelia is he'd probably be separated from Juan now, and I'm thinking both Juan and Amelia are going to be needing Diego going forward - especially if Novelera is right about Braulio not playing the loving father. I'd feel differently if she did something shady that caused the accident or it he'd hit and ran of something, but Andres ran out of nowhere, he hit him accidentally, he took him to the hospital, stayed with him, took care of me, befriended him, etc etc etc. He will have to eventually tell the truth, but I'm okay with eventually being eventually.
So, if Roberto dies, did Braulio kill him? Or did he just let him die? I am not sure if he committed any actual crime, but he definitely could have acted sooner.
How disappointing, I would love to see Jacinto beat the daylights out of Fausto, but yeah Jacinto looks outmatched.
Thanks again, Carmella. Nice job on the recap!
First off, I'm pretty sure the reason Fausto was able to beat up Jacinto so easily was because Jacinto showed up pretty drunk. He had a shot before he left the wedding, after he'd said that Chelo really wanted to be married to Crazy Eyes. Looked to me like he went somewhere for, who knows, most of a bottle of tequila. He was shown throwing wild punches like maybe he was seeing double. Don't think he landed even one punch. And, unless police training is different in Mexico than here, they are trained to get the better of someone like Fausto.
I think I've seen that scene in other movies, where the villain won't let the victim get to those nitroglycerine tablets. In this case, Braulio really does love Roberto and kind of snapped out of it, trying to force one into Roberto's mouth.
They did the usual telenovela polka last night. Roberto starts to say something about Braulio. But there's no way that 1. Santi finds out the truth right away. 2. Andres recovers his memory and is re-united with Nuria; and 3. Nuria and Santi have the stereotypical wedding as the last scene by next week. [Does it show that I've watched novelas for 25 years?]
Yes, Tigre has some dark secret. That wall of photos usually means someone who's out to get the family or someone in it. But he's helped Braulio for years, so...
I really liked the scene with Aida and Andres. She's going to be a big help to the boy going forward.
Thursday and Friday recaps will be posted over the weekend.
Thanks for commenting, novelera. ITA, this dizi has been cruel to us. The Turks love it.
“The way this dizi is going I'm not sure Parla will make it to the end.” If they killed Pars, they could kill anyone. Even Ilgaz. Believe it or not, there was one dizi I know where they killed the leading man and the show continued.
Clarification: Igor addressed his “dua et” comments directly to Ilgaz Savcı.
I love Tugce. Why does she hang with these losers?
“I for one was thinking Eyup was connected to the Balkan mob.” I was thinking the same.
Omer belongs in a horror film.
Thank you, dondi356.
When I saw the hand with the ring I thought it was just the next case, but yes, it is Pars' ring. I looked back at the scene where he opens the envelope with Kecik's photo and that ring is shown clearly. The body count keeps increasing. Inci, Zafer, Engin, Neva, Serdar, Ridvan and now possibly Pars.
Of course Tugce was right. And she is going to investigate Eyup. I think she is the only hope to save Cinar and Parla. Eyup seems to be close to Serdar and is probably looking for revenge.
Thank you Darcy and novelera for your great comments and insights. Darcy, Amelia and Diego are well on their way to becoming my favorite couple in this novela if this keeps up! They are so thoughtful, kind and respectful of each others feelings, and it’s really great to watch them! I love how they love Andres, and I’ll be sad when Andres ultimately may have to leave them in order to reunite with Nuria……..
Yes novelera, poor Jacinto looked wasted and is about to get his butt kicked because of it. Even worse than that, Chelo will probably get either a beating or another lock down because we all know that Fausto will not let this slide and say that she led Jacinto on or something…
I love just about every scene with Andres and whoever he’s with! He’s such a joy to watch! His interactions with the adults are great—— even sourpuss Martha, lol…
I wonder if they will kill Roberto off, or leave him debilitated with a major stroke where he’s unable to speak and can only stare?? That’ll drive Braulio crazy……and he will deserve it even if he loves his father…….
Thanks for the comments, Lucio. I know this is a crime drama but can’t remember a show where so many significant cast members were killed off. And they are hinting that the male lead will be among the dead.
“I think she is the only hope to save Cinar and Parla.” Yes, Tugce is the only one smart enough and brave enough to do it.
“Eyup seems to be close to Serdar…” Eyup used the word “kardeşim” –my brother. That could mean a blood relation or like you said, a close friendship. It’s not just a casual “bro”.
Quote for Turkish ep #57: "Everything goes away, a layer of sadness remains..." - Turgut Uyar
Ozge notices a big black van pull up outside her house and sees a group of sketchy guys get out. She realizes they are coming for her, so she makes a hasty retreat out the back door. The baddies don’t find her, and they toss the place.
Ilgaz is texting on his phone. Ceylin comes out of the room for breakfast. Ilgaz tells her, we can get something on the way. He has to go. She asks him what’s wrong. He replies, hair was found in Kesik’s hand. I asked him to go to Ozge’s desk. They found a hair tie with hairs. It’s a match. He asks, it’s ridiculous, but do you think she did it?
Ceylin can’t answer that. She asks, what are you going to do? Ilgaz says it’s obvious. Officers will detain her and take her to the station. If Tolga is going to represent her, you’d better hurry.
Ilcey leave the house and Defne spots them. [aww… she’s cradling cute little Boncuk.] You’re back, she excitedly asks Ceylin, will you stay forever? Ceylin says yes. [viewerville doubts.] Defne rushes inside to share the great news with Dede and Baba. Merdan is happy to hear it. Metin is less enthusiastic. [he probably thinks what I think.] Defne goes out to ride her new bike.
Merdan asks Metin, what’s the matter? Aren’t you happy about the news? Thank God they reconciled. Yes, I’m happy, Metin replies, but their troubles are never going to end. [yep.] I hope things are better from now on. Inshallah.
Eren and Umut are on their way to Ozge’s. Eren can’t believe this is happening. She’s smart, she’s young. How could she do it? He wonders how Ozge found Kesik before they did. They arrive and see that Ozge’s door was forced open. Guns out, they search the place and notice it’s been tossed. No Ogze.
Eren doesn’t like this. He tells Umut to call a team to investigate. Ozge’s parents rush in. Who are you, what are you doing here? Where’s Ozge?
Eren calls Ilgaz as he’s driving. He says Ozge isn’t home. Someone broke in and ransacked it. Looks like a burglary. Was Ozge kidnapped? Eren says he doesn’t know.
Ilgaz slams on the brakes. He almost runs Ozge down. She cries for help. I had to run! They were going to kill me! I don’t want to die! Luckily, they are right by the station. Ilgaz holds up Ozge, you’re safe now. Let’s go inside.
Cops are investigating the jewelry shop. Look up Neva Seckin… the name is on the pen. Yes, she was a judge and one of the murder victims found in the well last Fall. She’s AG Pars’ sister. The cop says, I’ll notify Homicide. Take a picture and send it in.
Tell me what happened, Ilgaz asks Ozge. She replies, some men came to my house. They wanted to kill me. Who were those men, Ilgaz asks, why would they want to kill you? Ceylin is nervous. Ozge sniffles and hesitates. Then she blurts—I killed Kesik. I’m sorry, she cries, I’m sorry. He made fun of Ridvan. He killed Ridvan for pleasure!
Ilgaz asks Ozge to look at him. How did you find his address? How did you figure it out? Ceylin is quietly panicking. Ozge answers, I got it from AG Pars.
Derya arrives at the courthouse. She’s calling Pars again. She leaves a message: just let me know that you’re okay. Then you can do what you want. I’m going crazy. Don’t you care that I’m worried or scared? I’m hurt. Please contact me.
Ilgaz gets news. Someone took the fall, so the judge didn’t think it necessary to keep Igor and Hilmi in custody. These men don’t get their hands dirty. If they do, they have idiots who are willing to take the fall. If only Ozge told us this sooner.
Yekta is at the office. He’s not in a suit. Ayten comes in to clear away his coffee cup. Is there anything else you want, Yekta Bey? Not for now, Yekta replies with a smirk, but time goes by, and we don’t know what we might ask or what might happen. Ayten looks uncomfortable. She nods and leaves.
Hilmi comes to Yekta’s office. He’s a free man. They share the joy. Yekta touts his legal skills— if Yekta Tilmen is with you, you’ll always be safe! Omer is there listening.
Hilmi says he has a TV interview scheduled for tonight. Everything has gone according to plan. Thank you for everything, my dear friend. He’s sending Yekta a nice gift. Hilmi also thanks Omer and says, if you need anything, remember you have a friend in me. Hilmi leaves.
Yekta exclaims, bravo Omer! You won this game! Even my alternates can kick ass at the courthouse! Tilmen power! What do you say we play a real game now? Omer says he hasn’t had breakfast yet. Yekta says so much the better. You sweat and burn fat that way. It increases the stakes. Let’s make a bet, the loser picks up the tab. Let’s see if your body can beat me, or if this is a fluke.
Ilgaz continues questioning Ozge. What did you do after finding the address in Pars’ office? I left the office, she recounts. I was angry after seeing the killer’s picture. I took DA Derya’s gun, and I went to the address. Ceylin is nervously hanging on Ozge’s words.
Ozge continues, he realized I was following him, and he dragged me to the cemetery. He shoved me and threatened me. I don’t know how it happened, but then I shot him. I lost myself to grief and anger. I’m so sorry, she cries, very sorry.
Eren returns to his office. Ozge? We were looking for you, where were you? Here comes the big question from Ilgaz—what did you do after that? He was dead, Ozge replies, so I buried him. There was an open grave and I buried him. I left the cemetery and threw the gun into the sea. Ilgaz asks, were you alone? Ozge nods yes.
Ilgaz calls Anil. Do you know how much Kesik weighs? Yes, 92 kilos (around 200 lb.). Ilgaz questions how Ozge moved a man weighing 92 kilos and buried him by herself. He asks, who are you trying to protect? Is it Pars? Ozge looks at Ilgaz then looks at Ceylin.
Derya heads to Pars’ office and finds Turgut Ali has returned to become the interim AG. He tells her he was in Istanbul for work, and he asked to be assigned. It’s temporary, he says, I intend to return to Ankara. I was sorry to hear AG Pars resigned. It’s a shame. It’s hard to find honest people these days, especially for such an important job.
Turgut tells Derya, I didn’t know what to do since AG Pars’ belongings were left here. Did he say anything to you? Is he going to collect them? Derya replies, we haven’t been able to get a hold of him for two days. Turgut doesn’t understand. Derya explains, he suffered a great loss… we all did. You might have heard what happened to Ridvan. He did and he gives his condolences.
Derya continues, Pars is very upset, he’s devastated. Turgut asks, is it normal for him to go missing like this? Derya admits that Pars has done this before. She tells Turgut that she has some interrogations to do and asks if she can come back later to collect his belongings.
Turgut says that’s fine, and he tells her he found something. He takes a ring box out of the drawer. I see you have a ring on your finger, he says, but maybe you know who this belongs to. Derya opens the box. It’s the ring Ridvan was going to give to Ozge. She nods and takes it with her.
I don’t know why Yekta thought he could beat Omer at tennis. Yekta tells Omer, you play well, bravo. I haven’t played in a long time, but I’m still pretty good for my age. What do you think? Omer replies, you bend your wrist too much. The angle at which you hold the racket is very important, too. You weren’t taught well, and you hold on to bad habits. Your footwork is slow, but it’s not bad for your age.
Yekta doesn’t quite appreciate the critique. But since he lost, he’s buying breakfast at the club. Okay, Omer says matter of factly, and I can tell you of my plans to finish Ilgaz. That will be our dessert. Yekta looks a bit concerned.
Ceylin tells Ilgaz and Eren, a person can become stronger in this sort of case. It doesn't matter, Eren says, she moved him. She dragged him into an open grave and buried him. Ceylin says, adrenaline makes people do the impossible. Ilgaz offers, let’s say things happened exactly how Ozge described. She killed him and buried him. Where’s Pars? Eren doesn’t think these things are related.
Ilgaz thinks otherwise. Now we know that Pars was tipped off about Kesik. Pars knew where to find him and he left the courthouse with the intention to kill him. That’s why he didn’t ask about our mission. He went after Kesik. You think he said, “wait, I’m depressed. I can’t stand the heartbreak”, and he went to a cottage on the Aegean coast? Come on, Eren! Ceylin agrees, this is not one of Pars’ normal disappearances. But where could he go? Why leave his post?
Over breakfast, Yekta asks Omer what he has in mind. Omer begins, I can picture the day Ilgaz can’t walk into a courthouse. The day another name is the one written on his office door. I picture a universe in which he’s never addressed as DA Ilgaz again. And I see him in a four-walled compound behind bars, washing his own socks. Have you ever tried to picture it? Wouldn’t you want to see it happen?
That would be amazing, Yekta replies. We are all free to dream, but can you make it a reality? Omer says he’s made this a personal challenge, and he will succeed. Yekta replies, I can’t help but think your universe is lacking. If Ilgaz is out of the picture, Ceylin will be on her own. Yes, Omer answers, but not for long. I will comfort her. Yekta looks concerned again.
Rat-fet is having breakfast at his desk. An officer comes in with a report. A call to a jewelry store. A hand was found in a display. The officer places the file on his desk and Rafet is ticked. A picture of a bloody hand next to my food?! You expect me to keep eating now? He sips his tea and keeps eating.
The Rat asks, what does this have to do with us? A thief’s hand was cut off and put on display to set an example! Where’s the rest of his body? Get this through your head—no body, no crime. Get this out of here! The officer says he’s right, but he wanted Rafet to read the report.
Rafet looks at the page with the pic of the hand. He rises from his seat… what the hell? It’s Pars’ ring. The next pic shows the note attached to the hand with the pen. Rafet reads, Neva Seckin. The note says, “All your loved ones. One by one.”
Ilgaz thinks that Igor’s men went after Ozge. We can assume Igor wants to kill his son’s killer. Ceylin wonders how they found out Ozge had killed Kesik so quickly. Eren notes that they took Igor to ID the body. He learned of the death from them. Isn’t that fast? Ilgaz doesn’t think so. Igor told his men to investigate. They probably found footage of Ozge following Kesik.
Rafet asks to talk with Ilgaz, privately, in his office.
Ceylin goes to check on Ozge. They hug. Ceylin thanks her for not telling the whole truth. I’ll never tell, Ozge replies. You risked yourself for me. Thank you so much. Ceylin says, I didn’t think he’d be found so easily. [I lol’d. Really? You stole someone else’s grave!] Ozge knows they would have caught her sooner or later.
Rafet apologizes for pulling Ilgaz away, but he didn’t want this to get out. I think you’ll want to keep this a secret. A merchant opened his jewelry store today and found a hand in a display. Rafet gives Ilgaz the report. Ilgaz stares in stunned silence at the picture of the hand with the pen and note. He gives back the report and leaves the office. He walks past Eren and says, leave everything, come with me.
Ilgaz gets his coat from Eren’s office. He tells the ladies he has to leave immediately. He tells Ozge to wait here and he will take her statement later. Ceylin runs after him, where are you going? Ilgaz asks Rafet to come along. Ceylin asks again, what happened? You look pale! Ilgaz leaves without answering.
Parla and Osman are at a restaurant. She is giving relationship advice to Osman [lol]. Do something she likes. Take her to dinner, do something romantic with candles and flowers. Osman says it’s no good, it seems fake. We’re not kids anymore. Take her to the movies, Parla says, surprise her. Mom loves that sort of thing. Your tactics aren’t working.
Osman notes they are 3 weeks away from the final hearing. We’re getting divorced and I can’t change her mind. Three weeks is plenty of time if you’re serious, Parla replies. She leaves the table to wash her hands.
Ceylin calls Osman, what are you doing right now? I’m at breakfast with Parla, he replies, what happened? She tells him those men went after Ozge. They know who killed Kesik. Osman starts to panic. What men? How did they find out? What do we do? Ceylin tells him to stay calm. I called to warn you. Ozge is at the station, and she confessed.
Osman freaks again. What? She confessed? Did she tell them we buried him? I warned you! I said we’d get in trouble! Parla returns. She’s behind Osman and listens. He continues, she killed the son of a mafia kingpin and we buried him! We’re doomed
Ceylin tells Osman to shut up. Don’t say that! You think I’d be this calm if she named us? She said she buried him. I called to warn you to be careful. She hangs up. Ceylin? Ceylin? Hello? Osman turns around and sees Parla. He tells her he has things to do, let’s go.
Tugce meets up with Parla and Osman outside the restaurant. She was going to join them. Osman tells her he owes her a meal. You can join us next time. He tells the girls he’s running late—go straight to school.
Tugce notes that Parla looks upset. She thinks her friend got a parental lecture at breakfast. I’ve been thinking about Eyup, she says, get a little crazy when talking to Cinar. Pull one of your antics, then run away. While Cinar is with his friend, you go to his room and get his ID. Memorize his name and we’re set. Parla starts to cry. Tugce asks, what’s wrong?
Ilgaz, Eren and Pars stare at the hand. Eren says it looks like Pars’ hand. The ring, the pen… Ilgaz says it’s Neva’s pen. Now that I look closely, Rafet says, I recognize the ring. Ilgaz looks sick. He says, someone stole the ring and the pen. They are toying with us. Eren wants to believe that. [I want to believe that, too.] Ilgaz leaves the store and Eren follows him out.
Ilgaz tells Eren to get Forensics. Evacuate this wing of the bazaar. Close all entrances. Talk to store owners, staff… everyone who was here until the hand was found. Take their statements. Gather all surveillance cameras. Issue an arrest warrant for Igor. Send teams to his known address. Tell them not to come back without him. An interim AG was named, I’ll inform him.
AG Turgut shows up at the bazaar. Ilgaz was surprised to hear he had been appointed. He explains he was already in Istanbul on work, so he was appointed. Ilgaz fills him in. We see Anil at work, examining the hand. Turgut asks about the pen. Yes, it’s Neva’s. Wasn’t she a victim found in the well, Turgut asks.
Yes, Ilgaz replies, Pars always had her pen with him. The ring is his, too. We haven’t heard anything from him for 2 days. The Forensics team will analyze the hand. Turgut reads the note. He asks, who is the recipient of this threat? Eren thinks they are threatening Pars. Turgut asks, if his hand is here, then where is his body? Eren answers, I just hope he’s alive.
I’ll hold on to Eren’s hope for now. We are out.
Carmella thank you for the recap of all the drama. And I went able to watch the episode on Friday.
Wow, I thought that Jacinto was as going this be a match for crazy Fausto. Ugh. Maybe Jacinto and Santi will team up to take Faust down.
you
I think Juan\Andres will eventually melt Martha's heart . If Santi and Nuria end up together , he will still be her grandson.
Susan
Didn’t expect that! Knew that Tigre had some kinda vendetta going on with the Zepeda’s, but enough to want Roberto dead?!?!? Wow! For a minute there, I just thought that he may have been a long lost or unwanted son, but Roberto appeared to not know what the hell Tigre was talking about! I can’t imagine Roberto harming anyone intentionally. Guess we’ll have to wait and see……
Another stellar recap, dondi. Thanks so much. They sure are dragging out this issue of: is the hand Pars or not, aren't they?
I'm amazed they let Defne go out riding her bike alone. The Balkan mob are still around.
I was so glad to see Ozge survive. No one is safe in this dizi. And, if there ever was a character that needed to die, that character was Kesik. I can never forget his murdering Ridvan for absolutely no reason at all.
I'm confused about Hilmi. He's a TV star? I gathered that he was arrested because he was in the video that Salim took where people were shot. But does that make him guilty of anything besides being in a room with criminals? The gambling was emphasized; is that what they were pinning on him?
Nice to see Turgut Ali back. I remember how we hated him when he seemed to be after Ilgaz, but he was just playing the long game.
Omer's analysis of Yekta's tennis game definitely looks like someone on the spectrum.
Wow. Father and son. Yekta wants to destroy Ceylin and Omer wants to destroy Ilgaz.
Tugce is just dreaming if she thinks she can get any help from Parla.
Again, thanks, dondi for all your fine reca[s/
Yep, that was a surprise about Tigre. I was trying to figure out why he kept helping Braulio. But they didn't explain very well what happened long ago. We saw a house burning and Tigre ranting about his mother having been harmed or killed by Roberto. But what? Did he have an affair with her? Did he cause the fire?
It was interesting that Santiago left his family to seek comfort with Nuria. And she did just the right thing.
Braulio is not all bad. It seems he really didn't want his father to die, even though he knew that his survival would have finished his dream of being the President of Grupo Zepeda.
I wish they'd just get to the point about what happened to Chalo's sister. OK, they made the point about abusive spouses. We saw what a jerk the guy is. They've had a couple of episodes where the jerk has returned to D.F. without her and everyone in this community being worried. So tell us already!
And we found out that Nuria never slept with Braulio…..sounds like a first for Braulio if his actions are any indication….
There are pieces of Braulio that appear vulnerable since this whole Roberto finding out the truth thing. He seemed to really want a sincere hug from Lianna following Roberto’s death, but he’d already used her so many times. I don’t blame her for her reaction to him. Otoh, we’ve been given glimpses of his reaction to Andres/Juan every time Andres tries to connect with him…not warm and fuzzy at all…….Santi and Andres/ Juan connected very well——- but how could the not, lol……
And yes, Nuria said and did all the right things when Santi went to her for support……maybe they won’t be “typical” protags…….
We all hope Pars is alive, Turgut Ali says. We need to figure out if Pars had any enemies. [I would think a AG/DA would have plenty.] Ilgaz mentions Ridvan’s murder. He was after his killer and was informed of his identity. Our theory is someone tried to stop him. When I left, Turgut says, everything was back to normal. I never imagined I’d come back to something like this. [no one can take their eyes off Pars’ hand.]
Merdan is on the phone. I want to know what happened and who is responsible. Call me when you learn… or if you think we need to act. Metin comes in at the tail end of the call. He asks what happened. An old friend died, Merdan replies, it was his time, we all die. Isn’t it normal? Metin snarks, is it normal at your age, or in your line of work? Metin takes Defne to her therapy session.
Ceylin tells Tolga that Ilgaz is going to question Ozge, and he will represent her. She’s here for protection. She could be attacked again. Tolga asks, did she really shoot and bury a man by herself? It doesn’t add up. Ceylin immediately answers, she said she did it and we should believe her. She sends Tolga to get Ozge something to eat and drink.
Osman comes to the station looking for information. Tell me exactly what happened. You’re not answering my calls. She confessed? Ceylin tells him to shut up, they are in a police station. She calls him a drama king and they go outside.
Anil says this was very clean work. There’s not a drop of blood left. He needs to run more tests. Ilgaz asks, was it cut while he was alive or was it… Ilgaz can’t finish that sentence. Anil can’t answer that yet. Find out first if that’s Pars’ hand, Ilgaz says. Can you get prints? The fingertips were damaged, Anil replies, it seems on purpose. I’ll try and I’ll also test DNA, but I need a comparison sample.
Turgut puts Ilgaz in charge of the case. He’s going to notify the Ministry of Interior and Justice and the governor. Ilgaz wants to keep this out of the public for a while. Turgut agrees, he doesn’t want to cause upset. An announcement can’t be made without being sure. Ilgaz mentions Derya. He doesn’t want to notify her before they get DNA results. Turgut leaves.
Ilgaz makes sure everyone knows not to leak information. He looks directly at Rat-fet. If we have any leaks, I’ll hold you personally responsible. Rafet is insulted. [boo hoo.] Ilgaz asks about surveillance footage. Eren says there isn’t any. The power went off around 2am and the generator did not kick in. None of the cameras were working.
At least we know the time of the incident, Ilgaz answers. He tells Rafet to go to the station and review footage while we search for Pars. Talk to his bodyguards and driver.
Goksu can’t find any clues. No forced entry? No mess? No evidence? She says, it’s almost like the hand was left by a ghost. Ilgaz wonders, why this place? He tells Eren to talk to the owner and see if anyone else had a key. Find out if there’s any connection to Igor or his gang.
Ceylin asks Osman, what should have been done? These men are very dangerous. You think I like covering up crimes, burying bodies, or getting rid of a gun? I didn’t think he’d be found this quickly. Yes, in hindsight, what we did was stupid, but it was right at the time. If anything happened to Ozge, Ilgaz would be upset. Everyone would be upset. We couldn’t take another blow. That’s why I did it. She blows up. Go home! Look for a job or whatever it is you do!
Osman worries, they’re going to find out. We won’t get away with it. Okay, Ceylin answers, if they find out, I’ll say I helped her. I won’t involve you.
Being charged isn’t the problem, Osman replies, those people went to her home to kill her! What if they know about us? Maybe they saw us. I have a daughter, you have a niece… your sister, my wife… Gul Anne. What if something happens to them? [Hmm… maybe Ceylin didn’t think about that.]
Ceylin tells Osman to calm down. He tells her he was scared to watch Parla walk off to school. I didn’t say anything so as not to worry her. What if something happens to Parla?
Merdan calls Ceylin. You asked if I helped Pars find Kesik. Yes, she replies, I still want that answer. He gives it. Zulkuf got the information and sadly, he’s been killed.
Ilgaz speaks with the store owner, Cengiz. My father and I each have a key, he says. We don’t let anyone take them. My father had bypass surgery. He’s been in bed for 2 months. Ilgaz asks if he has employees. No, Cengiz replies, my father does not trust anyone.
What about children or siblings, Eren asks. Cengiz says he has 2 year old twin boys, still in diapers, and he is an only child. If any relatives had taken keys, my father would have killed them with his own hands. It’s impossible.
Ilgaz asks if he’s noticed anyone strange watching the store. No. Ilgaz says to take Cengiz to the station for a statement. He tells Eren to find out if Cengiz has any links to Igor. Find out if Igor has been detained and check any progress on surveillance footage. Ilgaz says he’s going to the courthouse.
Eren thinks about the message, “all your loved ones, one by one.” Ilgaz wants someone to watch Derya. He thinks Igor was targeting Ozge and Pars for revenge. There are too many questions, Eren says, if Pars were here, he’d say we are swimming in a sea of questions. How did he find Kesik’s address? I’m hoping he’ll answer that when we find him, Ilgaz replies.
Ceylin is increasingly aggravated. She just wants Osman to shut up and go home. Lock the door and don’t let anyone in! What do you want me to tell you? That won’t change anything, he replies. Ceylin says, I’m done, you’ve worn me out. Go!
Right on cue, Osman leaves and Omer drives up, gets out of his car, and greets Ceylin. He opens the passenger door. Please, if you would… She doesn’t understand. He says, I helped with the detention of the gang and Defne’s rescue. You did, too. We worked well together. And so what, she replies. He explains, I think I’m owed a meal, and I’m free now.
You’re free now, Ceylin asks in a bit of a mocking tone. She goes to get her bag and she calls Merdan. Omer wants to see me. I can’t tell Ilgaz because he doesn’t like him. That’s why I’m telling you. Dede tells her to be careful.
Ceylin calls Lacin. Is there anything I should know about Omer? Like what, Lacin asks. Anything that could put me in danger, Ceylin replies. Nothing outside of his amazing intelligence and his aloofness [in the Turkish, she said “soğuk kanlı” – cold blooded. I’d say that’s apt.] He’s a strange young man but he’s still just a young man.
Ceylin returns to Omer. She tells him she will drive and decide where they go. Get in. Omer doesn’t look pleased, but he complies without a word.
Ilgaz runs into Derya outside the courthouse. Any news, she asks. Nothing yet, he replies. She goes on about Pars’ irresponsibility. I hope he has a good explanation, she says, he’ll need it. [Ugh, the look on Ilgaz’s face…] Be patient, he tells her.
Derya asks, who do you think was appointed AG? He plays dumb. She tells him it was Turgut Ali. I’m glad, she adds, at least it’s someone I know. We know his track record for justice. I doubt he’ll replace Pars. He won’t, Ilgaz answers. Derya gets emotional, sometimes I defend him and sometimes I’m so scared. I can’t silence the voices in my head. I’m sorry, I won’t keep you.
Osman becomes paranoid. There’s a man who’s walking a few steps behind him and Osman keeps looking at him over his shoulder. The man finally shrugs at him like “what are you looking at?” Osman takes off running.
Ilgaz goes to see Turgut. He tells Ilgaz he’s reviewing a document in need of urgent approval. Ilgaz is surprised he’s down to work so quickly. He says he came for Pars’s belongings to use for DNA. Turgut frowns, he didn’t know about the situation when he arrived. He spoke with Derya about the belongings. She took them. Ilgaz says they’ll wait. Maybe they can get something from the fingerprints.
Ilgaz starts to leave. Turgut asks him for an update. The teams are still investigating, he replies, I’m going to review footage from the day he disappeared. Turgut wants to join him. [there’s something about Turgut I find unsettling. Kind of like an Omer factor.]
Ceylin and Omer drive. It’s creepy the way he looks at Ceylin. She asks him his age. He’s turning 29 this year. She thought he was younger. When did you graduate, she asks. She calculates… must have been 2017. Bravo, he replies, you’re right. Before you ask, I studied in Izmir. Izmir? I never would have guessed, Ceylin replies, even if I knew you.
That’s why we are going out, Omer says, so we can get to know each other better. So you don’t have to guess. She snarks, I’ll have you know that I’m deathly allergic to anything related to Yekta’s sons. You have a right to be, Omer replies, especially given what you went through. Don’t worry, I’m nothing like Engin. [maybe he’s worse?] You’ll realize that once you get to know me. Omer looks pleased with his progress.
Anil and Goksu are at work on Pars’ case. Eren visits. Give me good news. Tell me the prints don’t belong to Pars. Anil says they couldn’t get any prints. It’s impossible to say anything without DNA testing. He says there was nothing under the fingernails. The hand was surgically removed, by someone who knew what he was doing.
Eren doesn’t like this. A clean cut means there was no resistance. Are you saying he wasn’t alive when the hand was cut? Maybe he was unconscious, Anil replies, don’t assume the worst. Were there any drugs in his system? I can’t say, Anil answers, there was no blood. Still, we can’t say he wasn’t knocked out first. Eren wonders what kind of lunatic they are dealing with now.
Paranoid Osman arrives home. He bangs on the door for Gul to let him in. [The way they’re filming this, someone could be watching from across the street. Maybe I’m paranoid, too. Lol.] Gul opens the door. Why are you banging like that? Osman quickly pushes past her. Close the door! What’s wrong, she asks, were you chased by a lunatic?
Osman asks, has anyone come to the house? Gas company? Delivery? No one, she replies. What’s the matter? He worries about Parla and about Aylin. Gul is getting scared. She wants to know what happened.
After getting Gul all worked up, Osman tells her not to worry. A young girl got kidnapped and that worried him. He asks to use the tracking app to find everyone.
Ilgaz and Turgut watch the video. They see Ozge entering Pars’ office. Ilgaz tells Turgut that Ozge confessed to killing Kesik. Turgut knows she was in a relationship with Ridvan. Ilgaz notices a man approaching Pars’ door. He takes an envelope out. Ilgaz notes that is the one with Kesik’s pic and address, confirming Ozge’s statement.
Turgut asks to zoom in on him. Can you see his face? No. The video continues and Ilgaz notices a logo on the man’s jacket. Zoom in. They can’t read it. Ilgaz wants this sent to the station to have it analyzed. He asks to switch to exterior cameras.
Eren is upset with a cop. Ilgaz will kill us! Are you telling me there’s no one at the addresses, you can’t find Igor? Ilgaz won’t accept this! The cop says Igor is nowhere to be found. Eren shouts, find him! This is urgent! No excuses! Did you notify border patrol, air and sea? Yes. Stay alert, Eren adds, he either went back to his country or plans to.
Rafet is with IT looking at street cameras. Eren comes in and asks if there’s anything. Yes, Rafet replies, we caught him leaving the courthouse. He got in his car and turned off a little way down the street. That’s it. We looked everywhere. We are examining every street, one by one. Rafet is keeping a list. Rafet eats pistachios and offers some to Eren. Eren can’t eat.
Rafet says they notified all intelligence agencies. They will help us catch that idiot Igor. The IT guy spots Pars’ car. His car stops somewhere, and someone gives him two bottles of water. Eren wonders why he got 2 bottles. Maybe someone was with him? Eren says to keep looking, he will inform Ilgaz.
Rafet warns Eren to be careful. The note said, “all your loved ones, one by one”. AG Pars loved you. You were always eating and drinking together. We all knew. Eren gives him a dirty look and walks away. Edit: Rafet tells the IT guy, it was a good thing Pars didn’t like me. I’m definitely not on the list, thank God. Did he like you? The IT guy shrugs.
Ilgaz asks Eren if they got a good look at the vendor that sold water to Pars. Eren says yes. Come get me, Ilgaz asks. Let’s retrace his steps. Rafet needs to notify us of the streets where Pars was spotted. I sent a video of the man who provided Kesik’s address. Have IT analyze it.
Tolga tells Eren he’s waiting for Ozge to be formally questioned. Eren says they are loaded up with work, but Ilgaz will be here soon.
Ceylin and Omer have lunch. You came looking for Yekta after many years, she notes. Did you always know he was your father, or did you find out later? My mother and I lived together, he explains, we led a happy and peaceful life for many years. Until my mother passed. Ceylin gives condolences. Was she sick?
Thank you, yes, Omer replies, she had leukemia. It progressed fast, she died quickly. Before she died, she told me my father’s name. I don’t know if it was a conscious decision or because she didn’t want me to be alone. She put aside years of anger and sadness and telling me her secret killed her. [I had a horrible thought, did Omer kill his mother?]
Ceylin says, and then you found Lacin. Yes, Omer replies, and I’m grateful to her. She was very helpful. I’ll never be able to repay her kindness. What woman would want to know that her husband had a child with another woman? It’s hard. Are you an only child, Ceylin asks, do you have siblings? That’s a little sad, Omer answers. My mother refused to date anyone after my father and it’s difficult to be a single mother in a small town.
Ceylin calls it ridiculous stereotyping. Omer continues, maybe it was hard to be alone. I was very young, I can’t be sure. A man came into my mother’s life. He promised to marry her. She became pregnant. When she gave birth, he ran away with the child.
Omer says, my mother never found my sibling or that man. It’s a sad story. She never talked about it. There’s no easy answer to your question. I have a sibling, but I don’t know if it was a boy or girl. As you can see, my mother and I lived in our own little world. Until she died, that is. And that’s why I’m here now.
Lacin puts clothes away in Omer’s closet. She goes to put some books back on a shelf. She notices a small photo album. She takes it, then puts it back. Her curiosity gets the better of her and she picks it up again, closes the door and opens the album. Pictures of a little boy, probably Omer? Then there are pictures of Omer (?) with a woman and pictures of him with another boy. [did he do something to the brother, too? This dizi is making me have crazy thoughts!]
Eren and Ilgaz drive. Ilgaz looks at the listing of streets. He notes the route seems like a good way to get to the cemetery. Eren says Kesik worked in that neighborhood, too. Ilgaz wonders, why would a mobster’s son sell water for a living? [I didn’t think Ilgaz would be so clueless.] To have a front, Eren replies.
Eren points out, this is where the car stopped, and he bought 2 waters. He bought it from that kid. They stop in front of the boy. He comes over. Do you want water? How much, Eren asks. The boy answers—15. Eren scoffs, is that holy water? Delivery fee, the kid replies. Do you want it? I’ll take it, Eren says.
Ilgaz and Eren get out of the car. Ilgaz asks the boy to look at a picture. This man bought water from you 2 days ago. Do you remember? He doesn’t. Eren says the man gave you 200 TL and let you keep the change. I knew it, the boy replies, I thought he made a mistake. He paid and took off.
Eren asks, did you notice anything strange? Was the water for him? No, it was for the woman with him and the child in the back. I asked if he wanted more, but he didn’t. What kind of woman, Ilgaz asks. Just a woman, the boy replies. There was a kid in the back seat. She had a pink sweater.
Back to Ceylin’s creepy lunch date. Since we’re here to get to know each other, Ceylin says, let me tell you what I think. I think you’re a decent man. Obviously, smart. He nods. She continues, you live by your own set of rules, including some minor obsessions. You have your own style, but then, we all do. I think that deep down inside, you are a good person. At least, I hope you are.
Omer answers, bravo… you’re a good judge of character. You hit the nail on the head. But there’s something I don’t understand, she says. You’ve been working with Yekta for a while, so maybe you know him better by now. Are you happy with him?
Omer has to think about that… he scratches his neck. Well… it’s difficult to label how I feel. I’d say I’m disappointed. I thought I’d like him at first. More importantly, I thought he’d like me. Ceylin replies, from what I see, it seems he’s accepted you. He cares for you, he’s taken an interest in you. He’s proud of you.
Omer says yes, but he doesn’t like me. Ceylin presses, really? How did you come to that conclusion? Omer says, it’s not about me. I don’t think he loves anyone. He’s not gifted like that. He doesn't think anyone is worthy of his love. He wants people to chase him, to hang on his every word, for people to serve and adore him.
Ceylin smiles, very good, you’ve gotten to know Yekta. She asks, what are you going to do? You’ve been disappointed by the father you met so many years later. Will you stay by his side? Omer says he wanted to speak to Ceylin about that. He asks, what should I do? She shakes her head, that’s not something I can answer without thinking about it. Omer smiles, then you can answer it next time we have lunch. Ceylin is speechless.
Eren can’t stop thinking—who were the woman and child with Pars? We’ll find out if we analyze the surveillance footage. That’s if we can get it. Eren says, we’ll search every street one by one. Ilgaz notes this will take a while. If Pars is alive, we need to find him asap.
Ilgaz calls Ceylin. Where are you? Are you at the station? I’m going to question Ozge. No, she replies, I’m having lunch, but Tolga is at the station. I’m having lunch with Omer. I don’t understand, Ilgaz says. Ceylin answers, I ran into a colleague, and we went to lunch. Okay, Ilgaz says and hangs up.
Eren senses something wrong. What happened? Ilgaz looks at his phone. Is he looking for Ceylin’s location? He tells Eren to make a left. Why are we turning back, Eren asks. There’s something we need to do first, Ilgaz replies.
The girls get out of school and Cinar is there. He calls to Parla. She asks, why are you here? Tugce tells her, you were babbling like an idiot, I texted Cinar to find out what was wrong. I thought he could help you. Cinar thanks Tugce. He turns to Parla, let’s talk. What happened? You were crying. Let’s leave school first, she says.
Eren stops the car. Ilgaz opens the door and says, I’m going to get Ceylin.
Ceylin tells Omer that Yekta offered her a job many times, but she always refused. Omer knows it must have made him crazy. That’s something my father and I have in common, he says, I don’t like being rejected. Bad family trait, Ceylin replies. Who wants to be like Yekta? There’s no helping that. Omer smiles.
Ilgaz walks over to their table and says, I paid the bill. Let’s go, Ceylin. Omer tells him, we haven’t finished our coffee yet. Ilgaz takes his coffee and throws it into a nearby plant. Ilgaz! She covers her mouth in shock. Ilgaz declares, you’re done now.
And we are out.
I finally watched Friday's episode, It was definitely shocking! I didn't expect Tigre to kill Roberto!! Wow.
I think it was telling when Braulio said to Amelia that he was scared of what would happen if his father died.... he seemed like he was genuine in that statement. It's like he flirted with the line crossing over to truly evil in the moments when he hesitated to give Dad his meds, but didn't truly cross it as he decided to give dad the meds and try to save him. But now that dad is dead anyway, does he walk back up to the line? Does he cross it now? I think he might, especially if he blames himself for Roberto's death.
Terrific recap, dondi! And I loved all your asides and agreed with them as well, especially your suspicions about Omer. The writers have certainly removed any doubts Viewerville may have had in the beginning about his perhaps being just a nice young man on the spectrum, unable to show emotion.
I keep wondering if all this inability to verify that the hand is Pars could be a head fake. If Igor really wanted to demonstrate he'd killed Pars, why alter the fingerprints? Wouldn't he want the rest of Our Team to be sure he'd gotten Pars? But OTOH how would he have gotten Pars' ring and Neva's pen, something very dear to Pars?
Maybe Metin should be a little bit more grateful to Merdan. It was his "contacts" that helped lead them to Defne.
When I hear the name Igor, my mind goes to Dr. Frankenstein's assistant.
Yes, the word I would use for Ilgaz's face when he spoke with Derya was tortured.
"Maybe he's worse than we thought". I had the same thought process, especially when Lacin looked at the photo album. Each picture showed Omer, with his eyeglasses on, staring vacantly into the camera. I didn't think about his killing his mother, rather his brother.
Are Balkan criminals supposed to be smarter than those in other countries? Organized crime in the U.S., esp. the Italian mafia, were not all that clever. Al Capone went to Alcatraz.
So...that long ago scene where Eren bangs on Ceylin's office door, and we see Ceylin with a bloody knife. We certainly see someone with a motive to kill Ilgaz...deadeyes Omer. But one would think he wouldn't want Ceylin found guilty.
I must say these Turks surely do know how to keep us guessing!
Thanks, novelera.
About Hilmi: Everyone seemed to know who he was except us. Yekta finally mentioned that Hilmi is a famous media figure, a political analyst, and that he’s in demand on talk shows. Guessing he’s one of those people you see on a “Meet the Press” type of show, or on election night.
A gambling problem and mob connection would be damaging to his career. From what I understood, he was let go, and so was Igor, because unlike the casino owners they couldn’t be directly linked to a crime. It was Ilgaz or Eren that said people like Igor have others do the dirty work and take the fall for them when needed.
I was surprised Metin let Defne go bike riding alone, too.
“… this inability to verify that the hand is Pars could be a head fake...” “why alter the fingerprints?” I am holding out hope for Pars’ safe return, with or without a hand. It looks like a right hand and IIRC, Pars is right handed. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a character lose use of a dominant hand or arm.
“Are Balkan criminals supposed to be smarter than those in other countries?” Only if the Turkish screenwriters make it so. “Al Capone went to Alcatraz.” Of all things, they finally busted him for tax evasion.
“We certainly see someone with a motive to kill Ilgaz...deadeyes Omer. But one would think he wouldn't want Ceylin found guilty.” ITA, but keep in mind Omer said the thing he has in common with Yekta is he doesn’t like being rejected. If/when Ceylin rejects him…
