secrets #131 part 1

Rafet and a team arrive at the site where Eyup was stabbed. Ha, Rafet is a scaredy cat, he makes a cop enter first. No Eyup. What’s going on, Rafet wonders, is she playing with us?

Goksu and her team look for evidence and gather samples. Did you find anything, Rafet asks. Nothing important, Goksu replies. Are there any hairs, fabrics, or fingerprints? We’ll keep looking, Goksu answers.

Rafet notes there’s no blood. A man was cut open with a knife, but there’s no blood anywhere? This place should be a mess, but there’s nothing. He tries to tell Goksu how to do her job. She says she checked with luminol and couldn’t find anything. Rafet asks, what is luminol? [unbelievable.] He starts whining about being unlucky and getting such a case.

Turgut and Ozcan question Ceylin. We see Derya watching behind the glass. Turgut asks about the necklace Ilgaz was holding. It’s yours. There’s a scratch on your neck. Ceylin is silent. Turgut urges her to talk. He suggests that maybe Ilgaz grabbed it when they struggled.

Yekta steps in. We explained what happened, so let’s not go back to that anymore. The necklace broke in the morning and Ilgaz took it to be repaired. Let’s assume that’s true, Turgut says, what do we say about the hair? The hair belongs to Ceylin. Her prints were found on the murder weapon and the dumpster. [we’re still wondering how that happened.]

What happened, Ceylin Hanım, Turgut asks. Ozcan remains quiet, it seems his job is to stare unwaveringly at Ceylin. Yekta answers, first, AG Turgut, you should be asking how my client, who weighs 50 kilos (about 110 lbs.), managed to lift a man of 80 kilos (about 176 lbs.) and throw him in a dumpster. [good question.]

Turgut thinks maybe Ceylin had help. Yekta reminds him the forensic report said there were no traces of gunpowder on Ceylin’s hands or any part of her body. And if you find and analyze the clothes you claim you lost, you won’t find gunpowder on those either.

Yekta continues, besides, how can a person be in two places at once, on opposite sides of Istanbul? My client went after the person who threatened her, the person whose footage was shown at the hearing. They got into an argument, and she stabbed him. She admitted it.

Turgut says Ceylin’s phone records don’t confirm her location. Maybe she was never there. Yekta says her phone was off. Turgut says this is not a trial, we are only taking a statement. Yekta backs off but notes that Ceylin is too mentally exhausted to answer the same questions over and over again, so he needed to intervene.

Rafet enters the room. He says he went to the address where Ceylin claimed to have stabbed Eyup. There was no body. That gets Ceylin’s attention. No sign of a struggle, no blood, no traces. So what happened, Turgut asks. Ceylin was not in two places at once and she didn’t kill anyone else as she claims. As the evidence suggests, she was around the cemetery.

Turgut gets up and tells Rafet to take Ceylin into custody. We’ll continue the investigation. Ozcan tells Rafet on the way out—we will have a thorough conversation about this.

A surprised Yekta asks Ceylin what happened. Why is there no body? She’s at a loss.

Omer drives the stolen ambulance to a secret location. Sorry, I couldn’t make out what Omer dropped and crushed on the ground. He’s got Eyup in the back and proceeds to treat his wound like an expert. Then he pulls up a chair and sits by the ambulance. This is way too creepy.

Ceylin is walked through the station and comes face to face with Metin. To our relief and Ceylin’s, Metin gives Ceylin a big hug and all his support. Daughter! Don’t be afraid. We are with you.

secrets #131 part 2

Derya does not agree with Turgut. She doesn’t care what the evidence shows. I know them very well! No one can make me believe Ceylin killed Ilgaz! I understand, Turgut replies and sighs. I think you should go home and rest. I’ll stay with DA Ozcan and continue working. We will evaluate objectively… you have an emotional connection.

Derya opens the door to leave and Metin is there. What happened, he asks, did you find the murderer? Turgut says they are still investigating, but he’s sorry to say that the evidence points to Ceylin.

Do you realize what you are saying, Metin replies, do you understand? He turns to Rafet—can’t you do your job right? Ceylin killed him? They are two innocent people who love each other. Why would one kill the other? No one kills without a motive. Metin turns to Rafet again—haven’t you figured that out in all your years of service?

Turgut tries to interrupt, but Metin continues, I lost my son, and now you are going after Ceylin. Can’t you see she’s being blamed on purpose? Metin demands, find the truth! Find the real killer! Do your duty! Turgut assures Metin that’s their goal. Don’t worry, we’ll find the killer asap.

Metin tells Rafet he wants to see Ilgaz at the morgue. Derya wants to go with Metin and Cinar.

Ceylin is brought to Anil for an examination.

Metin, Cinar and Derya arrive at the morgue. They take the long walk down the hallway, and Cinar stops. Dad, I can’t do this. I can’t see him like that. I want to remember him as healthy and strong as he always was. Metin nods in understanding. Metin tells Derya she can stay with Cinar if she wants. Let me go with you, Derya replies, you shouldn’t do this alone.

Cinar remains behind and cries. Metin and Derya approach the door. Metin hesitates. I know this is difficult, Derya says, let’s sit first. Metin shakes his head—I’m going to see my son. Metin gasps and leans on the wall. Uh oh, he grabs his chest, and he falls to the floor. Chief Metin! Derya calls for help.

Exam is over. Ceylin gets dressed. Ceylin asks Anil if he’s examined Ilgaz. Anil nods yes. Can I see him, she asks, it doesn't have to be for long. She cries. Anil says it’s not possible and he leaves. Eren enters. What is it, Ceylin asks, are you here to blame me and beat me, Captain Eren?

Eren sits next to her. Ah, Ceylin, ah… my queen… would I ever doubt you? I know you wouldn’t hurt Ilgaz. But someone wants me to think you did. Everything points to you. The message I received from Ilgaz’s phone… someone is playing with us. Someone started a fire to save themselves.

Who would do that, Ceylin cries, why? Eren tells Ceylin he’s not working on the case. She’s surprised and asks why. So they will think I’ve given up, he replies, so they will think I believed them. So they think I’m really angry with you. Do you think I’ll give up? Would I give up without finding my brother’s killer? Are you going to help me? She nods and cries in Eren’s arms.

Ceylin says, my heart hurts, I can’t breathe. It pains me. Don’t say that, Eren replies, not now, we need to stay strong. We must do this for Ilgaz. We have to work together. I need you more than ever. Tell me what happened. Did you stab Eyup? She nods yes. Eyup works for Omer, Eren says, do you think he moved the body?

Why is this happening, Ceylin asks, it’s obvious, isn’t it? I stabbed Eyup. Eren answers, if he’s trying to frame you for killing Ilgaz, then he could have picked up the body and cleaned the scene. What if Eyup was just wounded? Did you check to see if he was dead? Ceylin says she didn’t touch him. I just saw he was still. Eren figures that Eyup didn’t die. Omer wouldn’t have wanted his plan to fail, he says, so he picked him up and cleaned the scene.

secrets #131 part 3

Ceylin asks, do you think Omer killed Ilgaz? Eren doesn’t know, but maybe Ilgaz saw something or figured something out. You know that we’ve been after whoever is behind Omer. He probably found him, and he was cornered. Who, Ceylin asks, Ozcan? Eren hesitates… I shouldn’t tell you. You’ll be safer that way.

Eren, you just brought me back from the dead, Ceylin says, tell me who it is. Who? It’s someone who’s worked with us, Eren replies, someone who appears to be on our side—Turgut Ali. Ceylin is dumbstruck.

We get a flashback. Eren asks Turgut, why do you suspect us? Komiser, even the greatest sinners were once innocent. Man is a vulnerable species. You’ve seen this in your line of work. Aren’t some culprits the ones least expected? A complaint was made, and I was stuck in the middle. I’m looking at this from every angle, trying to see if a crime was committed. End flash.

Eren says he found out who delayed the Contraband officers. The order came from a DA, I told Ilgaz that. There’s also Ozcan, Ceylin contends. I thought that, too, Eren replies. I sent someone to follow him. His only crime is being in love, and he was with his lover until nighttime. [lol hard to imagine anyone having an affair with Ozcan.] Turgut was at the courthouse. Ilgaz left the station and went to the courthouse. He obviously told Turgut what I told him.

Do you realize what you are saying, Ceylin asks… an AG… Eren interrupts—shhh, don’t say his name! Yes, it’s insane but I’ll find out. He’s right in the middle of it all. I can’t prove it yet, but I will catch him! Why would he do this, Ceylin asks, I don’t understand. Eren explains, he’s a desperate pawn. I have no evidence, but I will prove it. I swear, I’ll make Ilgaz’s killers pay! Ilgaz received a call from prison. I’ll find out who called him. And you… you have to be careful. Eren leaves.

Metin is taken to an ambulance. Eren comes outside scene and asks Derya what happened. She says Metin had a heart attack outside the morgue door. A guard escorts Ceylin out to be transported and she sees what’s happened to Metin. Cinar and Derya get in the ambulance.

Cinar calls Parla with the news about Metin. Osman sees her and asks what happened.
Rafet brings Turgut a report. The prints on the weapon belong to Ceylin. But she doesn’t have a license to carry a weapon and the weapon is not registered. Turgut grabs the report from Rafet and says, I’ll take care of it.

Ozcan has questions. Where did she get the gun? What have you heard about her clothes? Nothing, Rafet replies, they just vanished. Very interesting, Ozcan says, that was the only evidence that supported Ceylin’s statement. We were told she was covered in blood. Who’s blood was it? Eyup’s or Ilgaz’s? Was there gunpowder residue on her clothes? Ozcan notes it’s like the evidence was lost on purpose. Don’t you think it’s strange, Turgut başsavcı?

Turgut clears his throat. DA Ozcan… don’t take this the wrong way… but I don’t work well with others the way Ilgaz did. Ozcan is confused. Turgut says, now that DA Ilgaz has passed, you can finish working on the case you were handling together… at your own courthouse.

Ozcan is surprised. Rafet smirks. Turgut continues, in summary, thank you for all your help until now. He stands and extends his hand to Ozcan. Rafet can hardly contain his pleasure at this, which Ozcan notices. Once a bit of the shock wears off, Ozcan rises and tells Turgut—let it be as you wish. He shakes Turgut’s hand and walks. But he turns around and stares at Turgut for a few seconds before he leaves the room. [What was that about?]

Fawning Rafet is amused and praises Turgut. Sir, what an elegant way to kick him out. That was amazing. No harm done. Turgut displeased. You’re out of line, he snaps, it’s not funny. Turgut leaves.

secrets #131 part 4

Turgut crosses paths with Ceylin in the hallway. Yekta appears too. Turgut tells Ceylin, I’m going to question you again. They head to the interrogation room. Turgut starts, the gun wasn’t registered. Yekta replies, AG, we just found out that my client’s FIL suffered a heart attack. As you can imagine, this has affected her. We are not in court, Turgut reminds Yekta, do your duty in the interrogation room and shut up.

Turgut gets back to Ceylin. What can you tell me about the gun? The gun isn’t mine, Ceylin replies. The prints we found say otherwise, Turgut answers. How do you explain that? I won’t answer any of your questions, Ceylin responds defiantly, I said what I had to say. I stabbed Eyup and someone else killed my husband. [and she knows she’s looking right at him.]

We can’t find the person you identified as Eyup, Turgut says. Yekta interjects, maybe he didn’t die and is just hurt. Are you saying he cleaned up as he bled, Turgut asks. Ceylin says there were plastic sheets everywhere. You’re testing my patience, Ceylin, Turgut warns. There’s no body and no trace of Eyup. You’re lying when you say you stabbed someone.

Why would I do that, Ceylin asks. Turgut replies, because you’re trying to create a story that’s more acceptable than the fact you killed your husband. I don’t believe you. I didn’t kill my husband, Ceylin shouts. Yekta places a hand on her shoulder.

Yekta speaks up, my client has stated repeatedly that she didn’t kill Ilgaz Kaya. And admitting to another murder is not a smart way of clearing your name of one. She could have said she was sleeping at home. Turgut says, even if she hadn’t been found covered in blood, I assure you she would have said the same thing. Eyup is a fairytale from start to finish. It seems your client committed only one crime. That’s it.

And what about the murder weapon, Ceylin asks, don’t you care about that? The scene was clean, Turgut says. It exists, Ceylin replies, I buried it at the bottom of a potted plant, with my own hands. Eyup called me and then he attacked me. We struggled and I stabbed him in self-defense.

Turgut stands. Let’s search your office. There’s no body, no scene, no blood, but there’s a murderer. This is an interesting case. Turgut gives the order to take Ceylin to her cell. Turgut leaves and Yekta whispers to Ceylin…did you really do it? Ceylin doesn’t answer.

Metin is brought to the hospital. He’s unconscious.

Ceylin is brought to her cell. Yekta is there. He asks, are you hungry? They’re not going to feed you. I know because I’ ve been here for two days. I’ll get something for you if you want. I don’t want anything, Ceylin replies, how is Metin doing? He’s in the hospital. Ceylin says, everything hurts, my whole body aches… especially my heart. I’m afraid there’s nothing to help with that, Yekta replies. He sighs. I’ll come back first thing tomorrow. Try to get some sleep. If I learn anything about Metin, I’ll let you know.

Turgut asks a cop to see Ceylin’s belongings. Her clothes are missing but I was told her purse is here. He asks the cop to get him a coffee, a double, black and strong. Turgut dumps out the bag and pockets a set of keys. He flips through a note pad.

Eren goes to the prison to see DA Mesut.

Turgut gets in his car and sets the route to Ceylin’s office.

And we are out.

We still haven’t seen Ilgaz’s dead body.

secrets

Thanks again, dondi. You're taking us skillfully to the finish line. What an amazing relief was the reveal that Eren is just playing along that he believes Ceylin killed Ilgaz!

Will the "powers that be" ever notice what a loser Rafat is?

I am enjoying Yekta sparring with Turgut, now that he's on Our Team.

They worried us for a few seconds with Metin's blank face when he encountered Ceylin in the hallway; then the reassuring embrace. I sort of wonder why Eren didn't let Metin in on his suspicions, only telling him that the suspect was Ceylin.

I cheered when Metin lit into Turgut and Rafet. He's been so ashamed of what he did protecting Cinar and moving the body. It was nice to see the Chief back in his strong, good cop mode.

When Metin was walking toward the morgue with Cinar, it reminded me of when Pars forced himself to go in and see Neva's body. And Pars and Metin both had the fortitude to face it, Cinar not so much. But...still no body, instead a convenient heart attack. What worried me was Anil's deadpan demeanor toward Ceylin and his saying he'd seen the body.

That flashback with Eren and Turgut was right at the beginning of Turgut's first attempt to get Ilgaz into the same prison as Haluk. Eren had on his dress uniform for Pars' funeral. Of course we probably thought we saw Turgut's reluctance to be doing his duty and arresting Ilgaz, at least that's what I saw at the time. It was fantastic news that Eren is going to find out who called Ilgaz and get the news about Haluk's two visitors.

Amen on who would have an affair with Ozgan. Wonder if that stiffly sprayed hair stays in place all the while?

I thought Ozgan stared meaningfully at Turgut because he was suspicious. Turgut obviously didn't want such a subueso working on the case. The Spanish word for bloodhound is one of my favorites.

Turgut seems to be over his guilt and determined to get Ceylin convicted for his crime.

What I wonder is this: he told his wife they were leaving the country right away, but now he's in the middle of this case. And, has Haluk deposited the money since everything points to Ilgaz's death?

Thanks, Carmella for your recap. Yep, it's a busy time for all of us. This novela has been so dark that I was at least 50% sure that Braulio would rape Nuria. And ITA with everyone that was SO disappointed that Santi had sex with Liana.

Definitely dark, dark, dark with Tigre getting away with killing poor Tania. The blow is softened somewhat by her already having a terminal illness, but she and Martha were robbed of some period of a mother/daughter relationship.

Violeta...pfft! They keep dragging on her multiple scenes of obsession. Then she tried to sandbag Rosendo. Not sure what that was about, except maybe his refusal to fire Nuria. I'm sure we'll be treated to lots and lots of her gloating when the Nuria in jail thing comes out. I did enjoy Lianna slapping her down.

And idiot Chalo is 100% right that it's HIS fault Nuria is accused of shooting the rapist.

They teased us a bit, but I'm pretty sure Juanito is not going to identify Fausto as his kidnapper. But it was nice to see a scare into him for a change.

If they showed it before, I missed it. But it sounds like Fausto has agreed to give Crooked Captain part of the blackmail money he plans to get from Amalia.

Vuelve

Juandres does not recognize Fausto——-are we surprised?

Chelo goes to see Nuria and seems to want to tell her the truth about the baby that she’s carrying. But she doesn’t——-again, are we surprised? She goes on about it being a high risk pregnancy while Nuria says that they are sisters and shouldn’t keep things from one another……

Santi is with Braulio asking what happened between him and Nuria that Nuria shot him. Braulio basically tells him to mind his business, that it was an accident……

Tania dies. Martha, Mariano and Cassandra are clearly distraught. Cassandra is very resentful and accuses Marta of possibly abandoning her like she abandoned Tania…..

Liana again tells Violetta to get lost and to stop trying to get with Santi. They are together and Liana won’t be putting up with any of Violetta’s childish games cause that’s exactly what Violetta is—— a child! and she, Liana, is a woman not to be trifled with. Violetta tries to show her the pic where she was kissing a drunk Santi, but Liana ain’t having it…….

Fausto continues his brazenness with Amelia and Diego and demands more money because Amelia is taking too long. Looks like Diego is ready to put some paws on Fausto, lol. He’s not afraid of him one bit and doesn’t care that he was a former cop.

Lianna calls Tigre about getting her resignation letter. He says he will…..

Chelo asks Rai about Nuria’s release. He says it will take time and they may accuse her of attempted murder….Ray is having back pain again, and denying that anything is wrong when Carmen asks.

Martha is with her lawyer to get him to handle her adoption of Cassandra and to handle the case of charging Nuria. Martha really reminds me of Gabriela in PDG….one soooooo blind!

Santi goes to the apartment complex to get some answers about Nuria. He encounters Chalo and Chenta. Chalo is as combative as ever and tells him to go ask his brother who tried to rape Nuria….. Santi heads straight to the jail and Nuria promptly tells him to get lost. She doesn’t want his help. This Nuria is really mean to him, and I kinda felt for him. But I do get her……

Ray and Rosa make up of sorts. They were friends before falling in love and will always be friends…….

Amelia asks Juandres if he remembers Fausto and to tell her if he comes near her. Juandres is full of questions as usual

Chelo asks Fausto where he’s been. He tells her with Amelia and Andres. Chelo really wants to see him and even demands to, but Fausto reminds her that he is still in control and will let her see Andres just once…..

The lawyer goes to see Braulio and tells him that Martha wants to press charges against Nuria. Braulio says absolutely not, he’s going to drop the charges. Martha goes to see him later and starts yapping about what kinda spell Nuria has over him and Santi. He tells her it was an accident and to drop it!!

Aida catches Tigre in Braulio’s room after he miraculously knows the combination to the safe and gets Lianna’s resignation letter. They have words, both reminding the other that they are just servants to the Zepeda’s……

Chalo meets Fausto who’s complaining about the apartment complex and everyone acting like somebody died. Chalo tells him that his sister did on top of Nuria being arrested. Fausto apologizes, but being Fausto asks about somewhere he can go and have fun. Chalo looks at him in disbelief…….maybe Chalo and Chelo should get together, lol…..

Santi, like a wounded puppy goes to get some more Lianna loving. He’s so weak and disappointing……

Cassandra shows more of her contempt for Martha when she arrives at the mansion with Mariano……

Braulio, at home, talking to Tigre, seems quite surprised that Tigre actually killed Tania. He also knew that she had cancer from an earlier conversation with Martha. I missed that part…..

Tigre calls Lianna to tell her he has the letter, but realizes that she’s with someone. She says she’ll see him in the morning…..

Juandres wakes up in a cold sweat from a dream about Fausto hurting him….

Yes novelera, before Fausto and Chelo left for Mexico City, Fausto called him over to the house and told him that they’ll have their money soon. The captain is even skeevy-er tha Fausto!

"VUELVE":
Carmella: Not shocking Tania died. But damn Tigre got away with killing her ? How long before he gets exposed as the killer ?

Santi is addicted to Lianna.

Novelera: Odds that Braulio loots ALL of Amelia's money ?

Vuelve

I think you’re right Steve———about Santi’s addiction. She’s probably got a lot more tricks in that witch’s bag of hers than Nuria will ever have, lol……

Santi did tell Nuria that if she really wants him to go, then he will, and he did, right into Liana’s “ I’m there for you” arms. Still, just how deep was your love Santi???? Like WTHeck!!

secrets

Sorry for the delay, Thursday and Friday recaps will be up over the weekend. And then we are on to the Gran Final on Monday!

Thanks for your patience.

Carmella, wow, the pot is bubbling now. Thank you for all the details !

Liana is a maneater, but she surely knows how to put someone like Violeta in her place . ha!!

I think Chelo and Chalo deserve each other .

Santi didn't pause a moment before returning to Liana's playlist . I am disappointed . Diego is the real hero in this tale.

Does Braulio know that Tania had a daughter ? Susan

Vuelve

Thanks Carmella! I just caught up tonight!

I do agree with everyone about how Violeta deserves to be put in her place but somehow it still gives me the creeps that Liana could so easily dismiss her claims of sexual harassment so soon after she herself was so brutally assaulted! Of course, we know that Violeta is lying, but Liana doesn't. It's really disturbing to see her go from so devastated to now sleeping with not one but two men, bad mouthing Nuria and implying she must be guilty of harming Braulio, even though no one knows better than Liana what he is capable of and dismissing Vi's sexual assault claim out of hand... it's jarring to watch!

Susan, yes, I think Braulio now knows this, IIRC, someone told him this episode, maybe Tigre.

Glad that Nuria is free now and that Juandres didn't recognize Fausto!!! He's the last person anyone needs to remember!!! Chelo is an idiot, she should use the opportunity - being surrounded by people - to get away from Fausto, but she won't.

Does Cassandra need to be adopted?? She doesn't look under 18 to me. I want to give her leeway because she's grieving and she's gone through a lot of shocks in a short time, but the whole idea that Marta might abandon her one day because she once 30 years ago abandoned her mom when she was 15, is illogical and sounds ridiculous.

vuelve

Thanks so much, Carmella for the detailed recap. Lots of plots and subplots boiling up lately.

Telenovelas and Turkish dizis are often using that same old, same old where it ends on a cliffhanger. I've been around too many years to fall for it. Never thought for a second that Juandres (thanks for that combination name) was going to yell out Fausto's name at the beginning of the next episode. But he did have a nightmare about him.

I got a kick out of Chalo's look of disgust when Fausto wanted to go out for some fun (probabgly including picking up some women) when the people living in that apartment area are all in mourning.

Now I'm starting to think Nuria is just over the top with her Santi anger. It was ridiculous to not take advantage of his offer to get her out of there. At that time she didn't know about Braulio not pressing charges.

I'm not best pleased by Casandra and her angry lashing out at Martha. It doesn't seem likely that her mother didn't tell her that Martha was a baby herself when her parents forced her to leave a baby in an orphanage. We already had the rather nasty possible adoption candidate for Amalia and Braulio. I'm over nasty teen girls.

I think what happened with Tigre was shown by his remark, something like "so predictable" when he got into the safe. It was probably Braulio's date of birth or Nuria, and Tigre quickly figured it out.

I'm over the Fausto demanding and seemingly getting the $$ out of Amalia. Everything we've seen about towns in Mexico seems to show that the rich seldom pay for their crimes. If I were Amalia, I'd tell him to go kick rocks. She had a legal adoption and I'm sure there's plenty of dirt that could be dug up about Fausto. Use the money to pay for a big, mean guy to watch over Juandres.

I am also tired of being jerked around by about 10 scenes with Chelo saying she has something to tell Nuria, lips trembling, and never telling her the truth about Fausto.

secrets

Not to worry, dondi. This whole week is A LOT. I can't remember ever seeing such a plot that completely fooled me again and again. Eyup being alive and spirited away by Omer was a big shocker. Of course we've seen many times, if we watch crime shows at all, that it's impossible to get all the blood out. Omer is good...but that good?

Vuelve

Thanks Susan, Darcy and novelera for your comments and insights. I’m with you novelera in being over nasty teens, Chelo’s crying, bemoaning and lip trembling, and Nuria’s attitude towards Santi. I’m tired of Fausto’s blustering and super nice Amelia not calling his bluff. I’m also tired of how these protags let misunderstandings rule their thoughts and actions for most of the story. Can’t they just for once find an interesting way to let them fight the bad guys together while still be captivating?

We got more of the same last night, except this time Martha really had the nerve to show up at the apartment complex to chastise Nuria, but couldn’t handle any truths about her sons’ character. Nuria should’ve smacked her right back for not teaching her sons to be honest and truthful——- moreso in the case of Braulio. I know she’s got a lot going on, but how can she be so ignorant and blind to Braulio’s faults?

Darcy mentioned Liana not being compassionate to the fact that Violetta didn’t receive any empathy regarding Rosendo’s advances, but wow, Euge sure did! I get Euge’s reaction, but what I don’t get is believing Violetta hands down! She knows what kind of person Violetta is, and should’ve just kept her mouth shut. Everyone knows Violetta is not to be trusted.

Sorry, but I’m also kinda tired of Juandres ( I believe that it was Darcy who coined the name novelera) crying every 5 minutes. I under that he’s been traumatized, but it gets a little bit more than annoying between his and Chelo’s constant crying. They definitely are related! I do like Braulio seemingly getting closer to Juandres. It shows a softer side of him and makes him more human…..

Glad that Chelo is finally opening up to Nuria about the baby and her feelings for Fausto. It’s about darn time! Nuria is gonna be Uber angry when she learns the whole truth, but Chelo definitely broke the sister code and deserves Nuria’s ire tenfold!

I hope Amelia quickly forgives Diego. He is still a stand up guy, and is as honest as they come. I must say, Celia is a very pretty woman, but an opportunist she is, and she would drop Diego again, like a hot biscuit when the next rich guy comes along…..

The brothers liars are about to receive a verbal beatdown from Nuria! Can’t wait, and I hope it’s good!

secrets #132 part 1

Quote for Turkish ep #63: "If you don't go through the pain, you can't get out of it." - Prosecutor of the Republic Ilgaz Kaya

Eren visits prison DA Mesut and tells him the bad news about Ilgaz. Who did it, Mesut asks, what was the motive? That’s why I’m here, Eren replies, I’m hoping to find out. We know he received a call from the prison at 11. Mesut says, I called him. He asked to be notified if Haluk Yildirim had visitors. I told him Omer Atamer and AG Turgut had come. Do you think that has anything to do with the case?

Eren is sure it does, but he doesn’t let on. No, no… Haluk Yildirim is from the same city as AG Turgut and Omer Atamer is his lawyer. There’s nothing suspicious there. He thanks Mesut and leaves.

Turgut comes to Ceylin’s office and pulls the knife out of the planter with a tissue. [why did Ceylin mention the knife to Turgut, knowing he is suspect?]

Ceylin has flashbacks of Ilgaz. Birthday morning sex. Him withholding info from her for her protection.

Merdan questions Defne. When your father left earlier today, did he say he’d be late? No, she replies, but Eren came by while you were in the bathroom. Merdan asks, Eren came? Yes, Defne says, but I only heard his voice.

Merdan calls Cinar, who is waiting at the hospital with Derya. He doesn’t want to answer. Derya urges him to answer. Being in the dark is much worse. It will drive him crazy. Getting bad news is better. How do I tell him, Cinar asks.

Cinar readies himself to answer. Hi Grandpa. Finally, Merdan exclaims, where are you? I’ve called everyone! Why weren’t you answering? Cinar lies, I just saw your missed calls. Dad and I are at the hospital. What hospital, Merdan asks. Cinar is quick to tell him not to worry. Dad’s blood pressure got out of control.

Merdan is concerned. Blood pressure? Defne is listening. Cinar fibs and says his dad is fine. There’s nothing to worry about. The doctors are handling it. I spoke with him. He fainted and he looked pale. I brought him in to be safe. I think he’ll be discharged.
In the meantime, the Erguvans arrive at the hospital and Derya tells them Metin had a heart attack.

Cinar closes the call—let me check on him. I’ll keep you informed. Eat without us, give Defne a kiss from me. End call. Defne asks. Merdan’s turn to fib. He tells Defne that her dad had work to do and they will be back soon.

Umut brings Ceylin news about Metin. He’s in the ICU. His condition is unchanged.
Omer continues to treat Eyup in his ambulance set up. He leaves the building.

Lacin can’t believe what Yekta has told her. I can lie if you want, Yekta says, want me to tell you he’s sick? DA Ilgaz was murdered! It’s such a shame, she replies. Ceylin must be going crazy. There’s a knock at the door.

Yekta is nervous. He tells Lacin, if it’s Omer, don’t let him in. She asks, why do I have to answer? Because you brought him here, Yekta snaps back, go see if it’s him. The knocking on the door continues. Yekta says that tomorrow they will put Omer things outside and change the locks. Go.. go… quickly.

It’s Eren. Lacin gives her condolences. He asks to speak with Yekta alone. Yekta asks, what happened? Eren replies, can we talk?

Omer meets with Turgut somewhere outside. Turgut has Ceylin’s potted plant with him. [lol] Omer says it was an exhausting day but worth it. Turgut responds, I trusted you too much. Omer asks why. What happened? Turgut replies, what kind of genius would frame Ceylin? Where did you get such a stupid idea? You chose the worst candidate. She had no reason to kill him!

secrets #132 part 2

Have you ever heard about a crime of passion, Omer asks. This is interesting. I expected you to thank me for planning this perfectly. Hair… necklace…fingerprints… You have to admit it’s admirable. Turgut shakes his head. How did you get the fingerprints? How did you do everything so quickly? It couldn’t have been part of your plan. It’s good to be prepared for everything, Omer replies.

We get a flashback to Omer’s meal with Ceylin. That’s where he got the hair and the prints.

Turgut is still convinced that Omer chose the wrong person. What will you do if Ceylin really killed Eyup? You made a mess of everything! Omer answers, who told you Eyup is dead? Turgut shakes his head again. You couldn’t have planned that far ahead. Omer says, sometimes life lends you a hand if you seek an opportunity.

Okay then, Turgut replies, finish what you started. Get rid of the plant. One more question. Turgut asks, why did you choose Ceylin? She didn’t like me, Omer replies, that made me very sad. Omer picks up the plant. He tells Turgut, I have feelings, too. Good night. [Yes, Turgut, you are in the hands of a psychopath.]

Eren has explained everything. Of course, Yekta laughs at himself, why didn’t I think of it? I traveled to Ankara and complained to Turgut about you guys because he was from the same hometown as Haluk. You did a great job, Eren snarks. If you didn’t hate Haluk, Yekta replies. Eren reminds him that Haluk’s grandson was a criminal on the run. Yes, Yekta remembers. So, Haluk and Turgut are behind this. Yekta laughs again, but Turgut didn’t help us because he’s siding with Haluk now.

Eren explains that Turgut’s daughter is very sick. That may be the reason he did this. And Omer is helping, Yekta adds. What a psycho. He killed the journalist, sent Haluk to prison, and now he pretends to be his friend and works for him. Unbelievable! He’s a maniac!

Eren is losing patience with Yekta’s blather. I’ll tell you why I’m telling you this, he says. Chief Rafet is handling the case, and you’re going to help me. We’re going to prove that Turgut killed Ilgaz and we’ll send Omer to prison. Yekta smiles, our enemy and our problem are one and the same. Yekta is all in. We’ll catch them… let’s do this! High five! Enough, Eren tells him, Allah aşkina! Don’t make me regret this.

Yekta plots, we’ll get Rafet to talk to us and we can find out what Turgut is up to. Eren says that won’t work because he doesn’t get along with Rafet. Yekta smiles again. In Turkish he tells Eren, “selamımı söyle”- say hello from me. [Yes, Eren, now you know Yekta has a connection to Rafet.]

Ceylin dreams of an Ilcey redo of the wedding proposal.

Aylin and Tolga bring Ceylin clothes and support. Ceylin asks for Metin. No change, Aylin says, but inshallah, he will be okay. Ceylin is destroyed and Aylin urges her not to give up.

Not sure where Eren has gone at night. Was it to the Forensics/Morgue building? Maybe he doesn’t want to be noticed. Something is up.

Then we cut to a morning shot and Eren is taking Ceylin down that long hallway to the morgue. [Why would they play romantic “Te Echo de Menos” in a scene like this—c’mon, Telemundo! Real song is Toygar’s “Ben Ölürsem” – If I Die. Is that “If” a clue?]

After an appropriate dizi amount of agonizing, Ceylin enters the room and removes the sheet to reveal dead Ilgaz. She grieves. She touches Ilgaz’ face and wails, why did you leave without me? How will I live without you?

Then there’s a hand on Ceylin’s shoulder. A familiar voice says, Ceylin… It’s Ilgaz. [this can’t be real.] Did you think I’d really leave you, güzelim? These tears are happy ones. She leaps into his arms. I knew you wouldn’t leave me! I knew you weren’t dead! [another clue?] And Ceylin wakes up in her cell. A dream.

secrets #132 part 3

Wait… Ilgaz walks into holding. He asks Ceylin, what are you doing here? He shouts for the guard to open the door. Ilgaz holds out his hand… let’s go, güzelim. She’s confused. She cries. She touches his face. Is this really you, she asks, this isn’t a dream, is it? This isn’t a dream! This isn’t a dream! This isn’t a dream, Ilgaz tells her. I’m fine, I’m with you. [another clue?] He holds her. You had a nightmare. Ceylin wakes up again.

She goes to the cell bars and calls—Ilgaz? Ilgaz walks in with a bag of food. But it turns out it’s not Ilgaz, it’s the guard. Ceylin is going crazy.

Cinar’s girls try to give him strength to face what’s happening. Once again, Tugce leads the way. She says some very nice words. We have to face this. You’re hurting but that will pass. You feel an emptiness inside, which we will fill for our loved ones. Sometimes we have to grow up fast. Defne had 2 brothers, Merdan Dede had 3 grandchildren… and now that Ilgaz is gone, you’ll be twice the brother and twice the grandson and twice the son. You have no choice. If you feel like you’re falling, we’ll always be here to hold you up. A group hand clasping.

Turgut arrives at the prison while he’s on the phone with Rafet. Yes, I was busy, and I forgot, he says. I’ll send the authorization. Send the team to Ceylin’s office. See if the knife is there.

We see Rafet is out having breakfast. Eren arrives and sits at his table. You found Ceylin’s car. What did you find inside? If you’re so curious, Rafet asks, why did you leave the case? I have AG Turgut on my ass thanks to you. If we breathe, we get a lecture. Eren asks again, what did you find?

Rafet says he was told not to talk to anyone. Eren scoffs. Rafet plays offended and wastes time. You come and you address me as if I was a common officer, which I’m not, but I forgive you. Komiser Eren wouldn’t talk to me like that. This info is confidential.

Okay, Eren replies, I’ll share some information with the people investigating you. Rafet almost chokes on his tea. Ah… Eren says, and then they’ll go after you. What are you talking about, Rafet asks. I know you used to work with Yekta, Eren replies, you fed him information. [in Turkish he added, you rendered your services for money.] That would be a shame, Rafet says. Are you going to help me now, Eren asks. Rafet agrees but asks—anything you hear stays between us. Maybe, maybe not, Eren answers.

Rafet says they only found Ceylin’s fingerprints in the car. Could that be because that’s Ceylin’s car, Eren snarks. Rafet answers, if you’re so worried about it, why did you leave the case? Knowledge is a burden, Eren replies, the less you know, the better. I’ll keep that to myself. Eren leaves.

Turgut brings Haluk Ilgaz’s autopsy report as proof of death. Haluk is skeptical. Why wasn’t DA Ilgaz’s death reported in the news? Turgut replies, a DA was killed. I suppose they didn’t want to scare the people. I brought you the document with the details. I proved he’s dead. Turgut slams his hand on the report. Ilgaz Kaya is dead. Good work, Haluk replies. Now it’s your turn, Turgut says, keep your word. Give me what’s mine. Haluk assures Turgut he will pay the money and his daughter will be saved.

Yekta is present while a team searches Ceylin’s office. A cop reports back to the station. There are no knives in the potted plants. Yekta steps away to call Eren and tell him.

Eren goes to holding and tells the guard to take a break. Ceylin is despondent. Eren asks her if she’s hungry. No answer. He leaves a bag by the bars. He urges her to eat, not to get weak. Now for the update. Yekta said your office was searched.

secrets #132 part 4

Ceylin looks at him. Don’t say it, he replies, I’m working with that snake. Yekta is helping me. There’s no knife, Ceylin. If you hadn’t told him, we would have gotten it. Ceylin says it’s AG Turgut. He found a way to cover his tracks again. I wanted to make sure Turgut was really behind this. Don’t say his name, Eren replies, don’t say it. You have your answers, we’ll continue to investigate.

Do you need anything, Eren asks. Ceylin shares that she dreamt of Ilgaz, that he was alive. Eren gets sad. I wish he were here. Keşke…keşke. She asks him to bring her something that belonged to Ilgaz. I’m afraid to forget his scent. Eren will do that.

Cinar has told Merdan about Ilgaz. Merdan is distraught. My grandson! My educated, and handsome grandson! What do we do now? Death doesn’t suit you! God, please stop testing me! Enough! He sobs. Cinar pours some water for Dede. He doesn’t want it. He doesn’t want anything. We need you, Grandpa, Cinar says, what are Dad, Defne and I going to do without you?

Cinar gets a call from Anil. What? When? Is it from the hospital? Merdan asks what happened. Is it Metin? Cinar says, I… alright… thank you. Cut to Anil and Goksu. They look at each other. Merdan begs to know what happened. Cinar cries, they finished Ilgaz’s autopsy. They said we can take his body.

Cinar asks, what do we do, Grandpa? You have to get him, Merdan replies. Dad’s still in the hospital, Cinar says. Merdan answers, your father’s condition is uncertain. We shouldn’t wait too long to bury Ilgaz. No, Cinar says, dad won’t get to see Ilgaz one last time. What will we tell him?

Merdan tells Cinar, it’s very difficult for a parent to bury their child. I lost my grandson. Cinar, you are the eldest now. Don’t make your brother wait. We come from the earth, we return to the earth. May he be returned to the earth as soon as possible. Metin’s heart won’t be able to take seeing Ilgaz like that. Merdan starts crying again. Having to bury Ilgaz will be too much for him. I was next, Savcı! I was next! You broke the order of things!

Turgut looks at his plane tickets. He video calls Nergis. She asks, what did you do? Tell me everything is ready. He smiles, we leave in two days. He shows her the tickets. She shows Ipek. Dad will take us somewhere and you’ll get better. Thank God! End call.

Umut comes to Ceylin. He brings her some of Ilgaz’s clothes and goes. She sniffs us right into a flashback. Ilcey sit on some rocks by the shore. When she sneezes he says, “çok yaşa, sevgilim”- long life, my love. She warns, if you die before I do, I’ll kill you. That’s scary, he replies, I’ll stay with you till I die. She rubs her nose and says her hand smells like him. He asks, like what? Just like you, she answers.

Ilcey enjoy the peaceful scenery. She says it’s strange. Everyone has their own scent. For instance, I’d be able to pick you out anywhere thanks to your scent. Ilgaz says he could do that for her, too. She proposes a silly experiment. Let’s put you in a room with 100 other people and blindfold you. Could you find me? [Imagine Ilgaz sniffing 100 people?] He says he’d find her among a million people. A lot of sniffing happens, and they also talk about bottling each other’s scent and labeling it “You”.

Sure, why not? This is a dizi.

And we are out.

Violetta is a piece of work!!! I keep thinking about how she's refusing to see her dad in jail. I can't remember if they actually said why, but it was presumably her judging him for whatever got him put in jail, but she's clearly a horrible unethical person, so why is she judging daddy???? I can't believe she actually got Rosendo fired!!! Right now, I think she's worse than Liana.... what does she have to gain by getting Rosendo fired?

Ugh, Martha, ugh!!! She knows nothing about Nuria or what happened with Braulio, yet she's comfortable with showing up at Nuria's house and calling her every name under the sun and slapping her!!! I agree Carmella, Nuria should have slapped back. Both Braulio and Santi have told her that Nuria isn't a gold digger, that Braulio lied about getting married, that the shooting was an 'accident', so what makes her so sure Nuria is the bad guy? And, you are exactly right, Carmella, she should know her son well enough to at least have some pause!!! Just ugh, I can't stand the plotlines where some 'righteously indignant' mom, sister, friend, etc; shows up to eviscerate the innocent already traumatized victim of her son, brother, friend. I did recently see an exception to the rule type novela (Tierra de Esperanza) on Uni where the two woman 'fighting' over the same guy who able to be civil and respectful to each other the entire novela despite being jealous of each other and in love with the same guy - it was definitely a breath of fresh air.

One thing I did like about Amelia's reaction to Diego, is that she seemed to be more annoyed with all the obstacles in their way than she was actually mad at Diego. She didn't call him a liar or seem to disbelieve him; she's just listing off all the things in their way and saying that now Ceclia is back too! I can't really blame her for being upset.

Secrets

Dondi, thanks for all your superb recaps. I can't believe there's just one episode left.

Incredibly Yekta is my sunshine in this dizi now.

What a relief to find out that Eren is working a plan and he faked his anger at Ceylin killing Ilgaz.

Unbelievable Ceylin telling Turgut where she put the knife. Maybe she had a camera that would've caught Turgut stealing the knife?

After the way Turgut dismissed Ozcan in front of Rafet, I hope Ozcan can play a part in taking him down.

I guess Omer did a double major, in law and medicine.

secrets

As usual, dondi, your recap was terrific! I also appreciate the Turkish and have started looking up some of the words. I just looked up güzelim, and love that one. It's exactly what a loving man would call his wife or girlfriend.

Sometimes I need your recap for a translation. I occasionally get my Spanish pronouns mixed up. Your translation of what Omer said: "she didn't like me" fit well with my spurned guy syndrome theory.

I remembered that Yekta knew about Burak being a monster and kept quiet so as to manipulate Haluk. Boy does he owe Ceylin!

I have to say I feel very jerked around by all of Ceylin's dreams and/or hallucinations. First they show Ilgaz as a corpse, and I thought that was meant to kill our hopes. One second later, he's alive and well.

Thanks for putting down exactly what Tugce said to Cinar. This girl is wise beyond her years. I could be up for a dizi starring Tucge as a grown-up komisar.

Ceylin's idea to prove to herself that Turgut was guilty by telling him about the knife was a bit too much for me. If she really wanted to see Ilgaz's body as she kept screaming, it seems to me she'd want to prove her innocence faster.

As usual, the Merdan actor is doing a fine job. His scene where he cries out about Ilgaz dying out of order was very effective.

Niecie, I hope you're right about Ozgan helping Our Team. That significant look he gave Turgut after being sent packing could mean something. And I enjoyed your "double major" comment about Omer.

Thanks again, dondi. I still have a smidgen of hope for Ilgaz being alive, but it's getting harder.

secrets

Thank you for the comments, Niecie and novelera.

I think part 4 of my #132 recap disappeared. I could have sworn I posted it. I can repost it if it's not found in spam.

I'll take Ceylin's dream sequence as a hint that Ilgaz is still alive. He's sending her a message. We never saw his dead body for real. We saw a body taken from the ambulance covered up except for the shoes. If this is a plan, Eren must be dying inside seeing all of Ilgaz's loved ones suffer.

Niecie, I loved that double major comment, too! ITA on Yekta.

Glad that you're appreciating the Turkish, novelera. I'm falling in love with the language. It's very different from Romance languages. It's a challenge to learn.

They made Ozcan seem suspicious from the beginning. After his love affair was mentioned, I looked carefully to see if Ozcan wears a wedding ring. He doesn't. So what would be the big deal if he was single? Perhaps he's gay. That would be very bad for Ozcan if he was outed.

Recap will be up later today.

Darcy , yes, I agree with everything you wrote .So, Rosendo got fired. I think that pathetic Violeta is just trying to feel like a powerful player like Liana. I enjoyed Liana putting her in her place . Violeta, you are not even in this game . Now, what will she do? Will she try another power play ? I would like to see Violeta meet Fausto. That might be interesting .

Well, mothers and their sons , right ? ....I guess that Martha and Nuria will end up as bffs when Martha finally learns the truth and that Nuria is Juandres's mama. Susan

With such a tangled web going on, I don’t see how Santi and Nuria will ever find their way back to one another….it just gets worse and worse between them with everything that happens…..

What’s weird is that Santi wasn’t even looking for love in the beginning, and now he acts like he can’t live without it…..he was looking for who set him up……

secrets #133 part 1

Eren and Derya watch footage from Ilgaz’s last day at the courthouse. Ilgaz is with Turgut. They see the men leave the courthouse together and get into Ilgaz’s car. Eren and Derya nod at each other. Let’s go to the station, Derya says.

Ceylin is hugging herself, wearing Ilgaz’s sweatshirt.

They cut the beginning of this scene. Merdan is looking at pics of Ilgaz as a boy. Cinar calls Merdan. I spoke with Dad’s doctor. His prognosis is still uncertain. The morgue will deliver Ilgaz’s body tomorrow morning. Is it appropriate to bury him after the noon prayer? That’s fine, Merdan replies.

Cinar says he will take care of the cemetery arrangements. He asks Merdan to call the guys at the pool hall. Have them settle the Imam, the hearse, the mosque, etc. Have them get all we need. Cinar says he will talk to Eren about allowing Merdan to attend the funeral. Merdan replies, may God be pleased with those who help. Amen.

Cinar wonders how to break the news to Defne. Merdan says he will take care of that, too. He waves to Defne in the yard with Gorkem. [and BTW, is Ayten still around?]

Eren tells Derya that Ilgaz’s funeral is tomorrow. What about Metin, she asks. Eren says we must bury him. He needs to return to the earth as soon as possible. Can we get special permission for Merdan to attend? It would be a shame if we couldn’t. The kids would be so sad. Derya says she will take care of it.

Derya and Eren continue looking at footage in the station. Derya notes that Ilgaz and Turgut look tense as they head to the car. What were they talking about? Turgut hasn’t mentioned any of this. Speaking of the Devil, Turgut walks into the room. He asks what’s happening. Uh, we were going over the courthouse footage to see if Ilgaz had been there that day, Derya replies. When we confirmed he had, we wanted to see him exit the building. He left with you.

Turgut answers, yes, we spoke about his suspicions of DA Ozcan. I believe you know about that. Derya shakes her head. Turgut explains, he (Ilgaz) said he was going to the station, and I was headed to my hotel. I’d forgotten my wallet. I don’t feel safe there, so I put it in the safe at night and I forgot it. He offered to give me a ride and asked if we could speak on the way. I accepted. Let’s watch the footage.

Eren and Derya exchange frustrated looks. Turgut tells the tech to switch to Ortakoy, Mecidiye Street around noon.

Yekta barges into Rafet’s office. He barks, where are Ceylin’s clothes? I don’t know, Rafet replies, they went missing. I heard that, but I don’t believe it, Yekta says. Who destroyed them? I don’t know, Rafet answers, you figure it out. Have a nice day… good luck… and goodbye. Yekta accuses Rafet of destroying them on purpose. You did it because there was no gunpowder on them!

There’s a knock at the door. A cop enters. Sir, we found Ceylin Kaya’s clothes. Wow, see that, Rafet says, we found your friend’s clothes. What do you say about that? Rafet says to take them to the lab immediately.

Great, Yekta exclaims, they were lost and now found! Did you sprinkle them with gunpowder? What did you do? Rafet is ticked, I don’t know anything about that! But tell me, why did you talk to Eren? He grabs Yekta. Tell me. I’m going to pump you full of lead, you bastard. What’s your deal with Eren? He warns Yekta to be very careful.

Turgut points out the spot where Ilgaz dropped him and says he walked to the hotel from there. Switch to the hotel street. There it is… I went straight to the hotel. I took my wallet and returned to the courthouse.

secrets #133 part 2

Eren asks, if you don’t mind, can we look for DA Ilgaz’s car? Sure, Turgut replies, let’s do that. There’s nothing there. Turgut says to switch to the cemetery. The tech says they looked yesterday. The cameras were undergoing maintenance. How is that possible, Turgut pretends to wonder. Well, there’s nothing here. Shall we go? Eren and Derya are disgusted.

Turgut asks Eren, didn’t you quit working the case? I called him, Derya says, I told him we would look at this together. I don’t remember telling you to do that, Turgut answers, but thank you DA Derya. I know you’re angry and in search of answers, believe me, I understand. But I’ll notify you as soon as we make any progress. Please stay calm.
Eren reminds Turgut that tomorrow is Ilgaz’s funeral. If you don’t mind, could Ceylin attend the funeral? Let me think about it, Turgut replies. He walks away. Eren thinks it’s going to be a no.

Derya comes to see Ceylin with a bag of food. She asks to be let in the cell. [how many people have left food for her? I don’t think she’s eaten any of it. Does it go in the garbage or do the guards eat it?] Derya sits beside Ceylin. Talk to me… Ceylin doesn’t want to talk. Derya wants Ceylin to eat. She brought sandwiches and ayran and says, if you don’t eat, I won’t. Derya gets Ceylin to take a sip of ayran.

Ceylin starts to cry. How can I go on like this? How can you stand it? I feel like I’m bleeding out, I can’t breathe. I’m going crazy. I don’t know how I do it, Derya replies, people go through the motions to stay alive, so maybe that’s it. Sometimes I tell myself, “You’re dreaming, Derya. It’s all a dream since Pars died. You’ll wake up when you see him again.” Maybe I’m crazy… I don’t know. Maybe life is just a dream, Ceylin.

So, Ceylin suddenly wakes up again. There’s the bag of food and the ayran next to her. It doesn’t look like the ayran was opened. [I don’t know, is Ceylin going crazy, or am I?]
Yekta barks at Turgut, you can’t submit this as evidence! It’s been contaminated. We don’t know where the clothes were taken. Maybe to a shooting range and rubbed against the walls! I admire your imagination, Turgut replies, but I’m including this evidence in the file. Feel free to object in court.

You’re wasting valuable resources, Yekta says, think about how much work has to be done in the courthouse. Better you don’t do this. Maybe the tests will reveal the opposite result, Turgut counters. We will keep Ceylin here for a few more days. And BTW, DA Ilgaz’s funeral is tomorrow. If the results come back negative, Ceylin can attend. If they don’t, she won’t be allowed.

Surprisingly [or maybe not], Rafet speaks up on Ceylin’s behalf. He’s her husband, she has a right to go. It’s inconceivable, Yekta adds. Turgut says Ceylin would be an escape risk. Should we allow a suspect to attend his funeral? [how ironic, Turgut is going.] Mercy seems to be a foreign concept these days, Yekta mutters on his way out.

Derya can’t believe Ceylin won’t be able to attend the funeral. Yekta says, let’s pray that no gunpowder is found on her clothes. Eren has the report. There’s gunpowder on Ceylin’s clothing. Who’s going to tell her, Yekta asks. I would, he says, but it’s more appropriate for one of you, you’ll be able to calm her down. Eren balks, who could possibly break that news? After she hears it, no one will be able to stop her. Derya says Ceylin is going to go crazy.

Cinar comes to Eren’s office. He asks to see Ceylin.

Ceylin asks Cinar how Metin is doing. No change. He asks, and you? She shakes her head. He sighs, tomorrow… we will bury Ilgaz. It’s another blow to Ceylin. She sits. This is very hard, Cinar says. Ceylin rests her head on the bench and cuddles up in the sweatshirt. She whimpers.

secrets #133 part 3

Next day, Ceylin is pacing in her cell. Yekta arrives. What do you mean I can’t go to the burial? Do something! I want to attend the funeral. I can’t, Yekta replies, AG Turgut gave the order. She yells, to hell with him! Why does he deny me my right?! I’m going to attend! Get permission! You know the rules, Yekta says. Ceylin shouts, Ilgaz is alone! Yekta explains that Turgut denied her because she’s a suspect and a flight risk. The law is on his side, there’s nothing we can do.

Ceylin screams, are you trying to drive me crazy? You’re making me crazy! You want me to die? Kill me! Yekta urges her to calm down. She cries, I want to attend my husband’s funeral! I want to bury him myself. The guard steps in and tells Yekta it’s better if he leaves. Ceylin begs Yekta to find a way for her to go. Call Eren. Yekta turns to go. Ceylin continues to shout, tell Eren I won’t leave Ilgaz! Painful to watch this.

What’s left of the Kaya family, leaves the house for the funeral. Tugce supports Merdan, Merve helps Defne, and Parla is there for Cinar.

Doctors check on Metin. He looks the same.

The Erguvans head to the funeral.

Ceylin is found unconscious on the floor of her cell. She can’t be roused. Send help! Call an ambulance!

Ilgaz’s coffin is unloaded from the truck. Cinar, Eren, Osman, Umut and Anil carry it. Merdan holds Ilgaz’ portrait and follows with Defne. The rest of the mourners assemble. There’s Rat-fet and the culprit Turgut. Evil robot Omer watches from a distance behind a tree for a moment, then leaves.

The EMTs carry Ceylin out of the station. She was unconscious when I entered the cell, the guard says. Did she fall, the EMT asks, did she hit her head? He doesn’t know. She hasn’t been eating. Ceylin’s eyes flutter open and closed in the ambulance—just enough to let us know she plans to escape.

The men shovel dirt on Ilgaz’s grave. Defne cries for her brother. Don’t let him go! Ilgaz, don’t go! Eren leans over and whispers to Anil, “Allah razı olsun, kardeş” – may God be pleased with you, brother. Anil nods in acknowledgement. [I’m thinking more and more that Ilgaz is alive.] Poor Defne continues to bawl. Cinar comforts her. Ugh, Turgut shovels dirt on Ilgaz’s grave.

Eren stands alone near a tree. Tugce sidles up to him. I don’t understand you, Dad. You haven’t been to see Metin Amca. Why? Eren says he’ll go as soon as this is done. He looks guilty.

The Imam says, let us pray Al-Fatiha for the souls of our departed and for the soul of Ilgaz Bey.

Ceylin is brought to the ER. We see she’s okay and she sneaks away when no one is looking. She heads down the stairway and Yekta intercepts her. Are you crazy, he asks, did you think you’d get away? I locked the door, you can’t leave!

Ceylin struggles to break free. She shouts, give me the keys or I’ll kill you! There are no keys, Yekta replies, I lost them. Don’t be crazy. Ceylin fights and shouts, God curse you, idiot! Damn you! Yekta tells her that Ilgaz has already been buried. She doesn’t believe him. Yekta says, as your lawyer, I’d never let you go. If you run, you’ll be sent to prison tomorrow, and they’ll add many years to your sentence.

I don’t care, Ceylin yells, what does it matter? I’m already buried! I don’t want to live! I want out of this world! Don’t you care about finding Ilgaz’s killer, Yekta asks. Shouldn’t criminals be punished? Don’t you think Ilgaz should rest in peace? His family should find peace! You won’t give up! I won’t let you do this. If you run, no one will be able to save you. Not even me.

I want to see Ilgaz, Ceylin whimpers. She sinks down. Yekta bends down to comfort her, his hand on her shoulder and then he strokes her hair.

secrets #133 part 4

Thank goodness Ceylin is back when the cop and med team come to her bedside. Yekta says, my client fainted, and she was hospitalized. Why wasn’t I informed? The doctor says she must examine the patient. Yekta tells Ceylin he will be on the other side of the curtain.

Next day, Ceylin is brought to the courthouse. Her family is there waiting. Gul rushes to hug and kiss her. Don’t be scared, we are all here. Yekta tells Gul not to worry. Ceylin will leave, she will be released. Trust me. [never thought I’d hear Yekta speak words like this and mean it.]

Lacin warns Yekta, if you do anything to hurt Ceylin, I swear I will destroy you for good this time. I’ll explain, Lacin, Yekta replies, everyone else seems to understand. Ceylin and I are friends now, just as we always should have been.

While waiting for the trial to begin, Parla approaches Derya with a question. Is Ceylin only accused of killing Ilgaz? Unfortunately so, Derya replies. Are you sure there’s nothing else, Parla asks. Derya asks, are you asking about Eyup? Uh huh, Parla answers. Derya says there’s no murder charge, there’s no evidence that proves he’s dead, so I think he’s still alive. Parla shows great relief. Derya starts to wonder.

Eren takes Osman aside. You worked in a bank. Are you still in touch with your friends? Osman says he still has contacts. Eren needs a favor. Ask your friends if they can check if these people transferred money to each other. Osman asks, is this to help Ceylin? Eren nods and Osman agrees.

The hearing begins. The judge starts, the evidence on file leads me to believe that you were involved in your husband’s murder. You claim that at the time of the incident you stabbed another person at another location. Now that there’s no evidence that confirms this, and cameras have failed to show your whereabouts…

Yekta stands. Your Honor, as you read in our statement, my client went to the location after being called by Gokhan Denzi. When her phone was off, the judge asks. It was out of power, Yekta explains. The judge counters, there’s nothing to prove your client’s statements, and law enforcement has carried out an investigation. Yekta fumbles through papers.

Ceylin speaks, Your Honor, they say I killed my husband, the person I loved most in this life. I beg you to think rationally. We didn’t have any problems. There was no quarrel. I loved him greatly. In this life, for the first time, I believed I found someone who loved me as I am. Why would I shoot him twice in the back? Find someone to say that Ilgaz and I did not love each other. No one can say that. I’m being framed with evidence shamelessly put together. But I swear to you, I didn’t kill the man I love.

Yekta takes it from there. Your Honor, if we carry out a more thorough investigation, you’ll see that this is a mistake. Therefore, we demand that Ceylin Erguvan Kaya be released. Turgut looks nervous. Yekta continues, her arrest is an embarrassment and she’s not a flight risk! Her whereabouts and address are known. Besides, she lost her husband and wasn’t allowed to attend his funeral.

Ceylin is released! Her friends and family are overjoyed. Yekta gets a big hug from Lacin. Turgut looks like he got a gut punch. In the hospital, Metin’s eyes pop open.

Eren brings Ceylin to Ilgaz’s grave. Derya and Yekta are there, too. This is very emotional for everyone. Ceylin grieves. How am I going to live without you? She repeats this over and over with her hands in the dirt.

secrets #133 part 5

Turgut returns to his office and finds Omer waiting there. He panics. What are you doing here? Have you lost your mind? I’m a lawyer, Omer replies, and I can come to see you. That’s our only connection. You’re under investigation, Turgut reminds him, you were released but you’re still a suspect. Yes, Omer says, and you’ll have to apologize for that mistake in the end. Why are you here, Turgut asks. Omer explains, your payment will be sent to the German hospital before the end of the day. I came to tell you that, nothing more.

Omer turns to go and Turgut stops him. I think you should leave the city, he advises. Ceylin was released. The evidence says she’s a killer, but her relatives and Captain Eren believe she is innocent. In theory, your plan was going to work, but it failed in practice. You chose the wrong person to frame. You should have found someone who had threatened to kill Ilgaz or you shouldn’t have gone through with it.

Why are you so worried, Omer asks, are you scared everyone will turn against you? Are you afraid of being tried? No, Turgut replies, I’d blow my brains out before I’d let that happen. [he had the chance and shot Ilgaz instead.] Know what you should do know, Omer answers, you shouldn’t return from Germany. Good day. Omer leaves.

Strategy meeting at Ceylin’s office. Ceylin looks like she’s far away in her own thoughts. Eren is at the blackboard. We have to find the footage of the day the document was stolen from Ilgaz’s office. If Turgut took it… or Omer, Yekta interjects… Right, Eren agrees, we still prove they were working together all along. He looks at Ceylin before he adds, and of course… we have to see if Turgut was telling us the truth about what happened the day Ilgaz was killed.

Derya says we’ll work in secret for the time being. If anyone finds out we are investigating AG Turgut, we’ll lose our jobs. If it was only just the job, Yekta worries, he kills anyone who learns the truth about him. That’s the important detail. Eren says they will be careful and find their own evidence. Let’s get back on track.

Eren posts a timeline. Ilgaz and Turgut leave the courthouse at 11:20. Turgut gets out of the car at 11:40. Yekta wonders if Ilgaz left after Turgut. Eren says it’s possible. He got out of the car, went to the hotel, and Ilgaz drove away. Or, Yekta says, Ilgaz drove away and waited up ahead and Turgut got back into the car.

Yekta asks Derya if they were able to see all the footage. She answers no, he (Turgut) caught us while we were watching. He had the case sealed and notified all the agents. He reprimanded them. If we want to investigate anything about Ilgaz’s murder, we must ask AG Turgut’s permission first.

We have fewer options, Eren laments, but we’ll find a way. Back to the timeline. Eren says Turgut returned to the courthouse at 2:15. The wallet didn’t leave the safe in all that time. Yekta asks, what did the forensics experts say?

Ceylin looks at the picture on the board and something grabs her attention. He changed his clothes, she says. The others study the pictures. That’s right, Derya says, he changed his tie. Eren says the suit could be at the hotel.

Yekta stands up and points. That suit probably has gunpowder residue on it.

And we are out and on to the Gran Final on Monday night!

Secrets

Thank you, dondi356. The last few episodes were tough.

Interesting idea about how Ilgaz might be alive. Metin never got to see Ilgaz in the morgue. Ceylin only visited the morgue in her dream. Only Anil said he saw Ilgaz and prepared the autopsy report. Maybe Eren, Anil and a paramedic staged the death of Ilgaz. I am going to stick to this version in my mind.

Having that interpretation, the dream sequences or flashbacks of Ceylin became bearable and I started watching them. There was one cut where Ceylin entered the car Ilgaz was driving and there was a song on the radio: Serdar Ortac - "Mesafe". Ceylin made a joke about it and they started to sing the song together. Link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P6gbh4I5dJw. Ceylin remembered this episode sitting in the cell with her back to the bars and started singing it.

Thanks again, dondi. Once again your recap saved me from several misunderstandings.

So...I'm just thinking about something that happened. Turgut went to his hotel room and got a gun. This was the moment Viewerville was certain it was Turgut and not Ozgan. He got that gun even before Ilgaz said what he knew about Turgut visiting Haluk. So...was he planning to kill him all along, or only after Ilgaz spoke up about his visit to Haluk?

I had completely misunderstood the reference to polvera. In the many elegant novels my long-term class has read in Spanish, that word always meant dust. So I didn't get why everyone was talking about dust on Ceylin's clothing. And putting that gunpowder on her clothes was the reason they went missing, not crime scene incompetence.

Derya was the right person to offer some comfort to Ceylin, having suffered the very same so recently.

Regarding those hallucination scenes, I don't think either of us is crazy, dondi. But the writers are staying up late figuring out ways to confuse us.

I missed that "significant" exchange between Anil and Eren. Anil was the one who did "the autopsy", more evidence that Ilgaz may be alive.

Turgut shoveling earth over the grave at the funeral was maddening. How did Eren keep from bashing his head in with that shovel?

When Yekta told Lacin he and Ceylin were friends, "just like they should have always been" reminded me of how badly he wanted her to join Tilmen Law Offices. We saw this at the very beginning. Narcissist that he is, he couldn't bear the rejection.

In spite of her awful grief, Ceylin made very good points in the hearing about being released on her OR. Yes, no one could say they weren't very happy (at least recently). And one would think that, in a lover's quarrel, the victim wouldn't be shot in the back, rather in the chest. And Ceylin, even as she was suffering, saw the key thing: Turgut's change of clothing.

Can't wait for tomorrow night!

Many thanks to Rgv Chick, who rescued part 4 of recap #132 from spam. And many thanks to all the commenters.

Lucio, I did see that flashback and heard Ilcey singing in the car. I meant to go back and find the song, but forgot. A big thanks for the scene and song link!

And I’m also sticking with Ilgaz being alive. They have been dropping clues that Ilgaz is still alive. I hope they are not doing this just to break my heart in the end.

In Turkish they refer to a “barut izi” – gunpowder trace.

“So...was he planning to kill him all along, or only after Ilgaz spoke up about his visit to Haluk?” That’s a good question, novelera! Who knows?

“When Yekta told Lacin he and Ceylin were friends, "just like they should have always been" reminded me of how badly he wanted her to join Tilmen Law Offices.” Yes, I remember that, too. I’m enjoying this new friendship very much. Hope this extends into the Turkish third season.

Now I’m wondering if Turgut will get caught in the final or if this will be a cliffhanger for the third season.

I’m nervously waiting for tonight!

Thanks for the recap, dondi356!
My comments didn't post so all I'll say now is - Ilgaz HAS to be alive! The dream scenes where he appears were so touching.

I hope there's not another season; this roller coaster has been enough for me!
This show is so much better than most of the other telenovelas. I wish more people watched it.
