VIVIR #3

Just a few notes. I’m still trying to remember the principals’ names. There was too much conversation to follow most of this. Kindly chime in if you can.

At her surprise party, guest of honor Frida is still angrily reaming out her non-adoptive parents. When others step up to defend them, she is equally contemptuous.

Santiago bloodied and battered is thrown out on the street like trash.

Elena is frantically looking for her “stolen” watch. Santiago wanders home and goes to her for comfort.

After Rebeca flounces out of her party, things seem to pick up a bit and people danced (perhaps celebrating the departure of the wicked witch??)

Before the company party begins, Monica is chewing everyone out, especially Angelli until JE intervenes.

Don Emilio is in the hospital in severe pain. Misael plots with a blond-haired man who seems to be with Fatima.

Rivero Cuellar Corporation guests have arrived at the gathering. Cristina gives a welcoming speech. A portrait of Don Emilio is revealed. Another speech is interrupted when Monica takes center stage with Adolfo and Misael cringing.

Frida is venting to her friend Doris as they look at pictures on her cell phone. Is this your house she asks incredulously? There are family pictures of Elena with Santiago and Angelli. Frida has a sad.

Luciano calls Romina, her children need her. He walks over to her jewelry box and sees she has left her wedding ring behind. He cries calling himself an imbecile but sobers up as his son comes in asking for some clothing advice. He hugs him protectively as his face falls.

Monica plots with Misael.

Elena prays over her husband and Rebeca’s pictures. Angelli calls to cheer her up and Elena smiles.

Adolfo seems to be sweet talking Cristina but she reminds him about his wife who magically appears to ruin the moment.

JE is telling a reporter Angelli is his future wife as Rebeca watches online. They look at more pictures of Angeli and JE whom we later see in a romantic scene in bed. Theme music plays.

When he is with Angelli, JE has a flashback to thanking his grandfather for his confidence in him. The jist of this eludes me but JE is thrilled about something and hugs his grandfather.

Cristina, Dulce and her husband dine with Fatima. In a far less happy home, Antonio reams Misael out about something.

Leandro and his children, Mati and Javier (?) arrive in their new lodgings, welcomed by a young girl. Mati seems like a pill and must take after her mother. ☹

Misael meets with Bruno (? I think the man who was with Fatima).

VIVIR #3 Part 2 of 2

Santiago is breaking into the home safe. He rifles through it but doesn’t find what he is looking for. Honestly, his face makes him look like the Elephant Man.

At work, Cristina, Fatima and Dulce watch Misael and JE argue. I believe Misael is accusing JE for not taking on responsibility for the ranch. To thwart that accusation, Fatima offers to work there.

A poor mouse is in Leandro’s new house and he pushes it outside with a broom. It’s horrible Mati whimpers.

Angelli enlightens her mother about Santiago’s gambling.

Rebeca is turning crazy stalker looking at a homemade montage of pictures of Angelli and JE. Doris urges her to be careful.

Santiago fingers his wounds as he recalls threats made against him.

Frida is in her car and follows Elena and Angelli.

JE and Cristina comfort Don Emilio in the hospital and he wakes up!

Frida follows Elena and Angelli into the mausoleum. She goes to the place they were standing and behind the glass case, sees a vase of red roses flanked on one side by a picture of herself and on the other, her father. She collapses on the floor in tears. Elena gets a sympathy pain and turning around, sees Frida crouched on the floor. Wide eyed and incredulous, she asks “Frida”??

Santiago sort of pretended to have been mugged to explain his beatdown.

Frida is just awful. She has some justification in what she says. If her parents had turned her into the police when they found her, she'd have had a whole different life. She's going to be a bit disappointed, though, when she finds out the del Olmos are not as rich as she thinks. I remember them mentioning in the first episode that the pandemic hit the restaurant hard.

Loved the part about Monica's family cringing. You're right, Diana. They've seen her mouth off before. She got up there to pitch her son as the appropriate genius (crook) to run the business.

Something happened before between Adolfo and Cristina. I had the impression that maybe Cristina broke it off with him and Monica got him on the rebound. Whatever happened, Monica marched up to accuse her sister of trying to flirt with her man.

Wow. Univision has come a long way. Premarital sex by the female protagonist. I've been on Telemundo quite a while and don't think I remember seeing that before, unless it was a rape that cast a shadow over her life.

The conversational flashback they showed was Jose Emilio having been offered the presidency of the company by Don Emilio only to say that he preferred to run the hacienda, to be with plants and animals.

Yep, Mati is a sulky little brat. I predict some handsome ranch hand may pull her out of it.

And Fatima met Armando (is that his name) the new "engineer" at the hacienda. That seems an odd job title for a hacienda. Maybe this is the replacement for Romina.

How is Frida driving a car? I thought she was supposed to be poor. I believe she overheard what Elena and Angelli were saying about missing their father and daughter/sister every day. She might have muttered something about thinking they'd forgotten her, realizing they hadn't.

Your "She got up there to pitch her son as the appropriate genius (crook) to run the business" on Monica was perfect. Adolfo definitely had that "Moondoggie" look during his scene with Cristina.

I appreciate your explaining that JE prefers to run the hacienda rather than be the president. I thought Don Emilio offered it but could not understand what JE said.

Yes, Frida will be disappointed the restaurant is not the cash cow she might be expecting. And great point about her driving (and owning??) a car.

Frida realizing her family thought she has been dead all this time proves there were no ill intentions, only love. But as Frida is hellbent on revenge, this golden opportunity for reconciliation will be thrown away.

I look forward to seeing what happens when this picks up on Monday!

VIDA - #29 . Part 1/2

Here are highlights. Please fill in missing parts or any other scenes you want to mention. This is mostly in chronological order. MY DVR STOPPED RECORDING during the final scene, so help is needed with that, please.

MAL & PEPE ---We start where the last episode ended. Paula is the last person in telenovelaland to learn MAL is preggers. MAL rubs it in by asking “don’t you want to know how far along I am?” (witch). Paula leaves and Pepe looks like he is going to collapse.
-- Malena lines. Pepe lines. Lather, rinse, repeat.

ALEX tells Pepe, for the twentieth time, that the family comes first. Apparently that’s why he’s camping out in Malena’s house, setting the example. In fact, Pepe asks Alex, 'What is HE doing to save his own marriage?' (no answer to that) and tells him to go back home and work on that.

PAULA tells the welcoming committee at her house that she only went for a walk, everything’s fine, and she will marry Rol tomorrow. Later. Rol goes in for a kiss and Paula rears back to avoid it. She reminds him this is a business dale for the care of her children she needs time to fall in love with him. (when pigs fly)

LUCIA tells Pepe that if he’s getting back with MAL for the kids’ sake, he’s making a big mistake; at the end of the day, his happiness is what’s important.


EL DÍA DE LA BODA

Pepe talks with Isa. Pepe lines. Isa lines. Lather, rinse, repeat. He fears the baby’s father might come back into town. (if he only knew) He feels that Malena is hiding something. (bingo!)
ANDREA writes a note to Pepe and slips it into his jacket pocket.

PEPE & PAULA - Pepe calls Paula, tells her that last night’s conversation isn’t over. They agree to meet. When they do, he tells her she isn’t going to marry Rol; he’s going to kidnap the bride, this wedding is a complete mistake, and he drives her in the food truck to the lake with the dock.
 

VIDA #29 part 2/2

RAFA confronts Malena for telling Andrea her mother’s name. Andrea breaks up this tete-a-tete and tells Mal their deal is off. She put a note in Pepe’s jacket telling the whole truth. MAL goes ballistic on her. Andrea says their deal is off and the lie ends today. Mal blames Rafa for this.

Rolando confronts Diego about his attitude and we get a clear preview of what type stepfather Rolando will be. Yikes. Lorenzo reminds him to be patient with teens. Rol says as of today he’ll be their father and (more or less says) discipline is up to him.

GRACIA arrives at Chez Lugo to cook for the reception. She and Rosa apparently know each other. Rosa is so happy. Gracia looks like she has seen a ghost. Ruh-roh….I smell a backstory.

ISA & LORENZO - Lor tells Isa that it’s time to tell Rafa the truth. She says how can she trust him when it cost them a fortune to get their lands back and Alex had to go into debt, after Lor told them it would be free. Lorenzo is confused by this. He swears he has not gotten a penny from the land and Isa asks --- then where did it go? She says Natalia said they had to pay all this money. Lor is muy confundido. He doesn’t understand why Nat did that and promises all their money will be returned.

AT CASA LUGO - Marco seems to be a self-appointed bouncer. He won’t let Natalia into the house for reasons that escape me. (can anyone help me out here with this?) Lorenzo shows up and asks her why she took money from Isa and Alex to close the property transfer. Natalia answers with a bunch of legal-schmegal stuff and that there had to be a money transfer, something about land values, etc., to justify it. Lorenzo astutely asks, “Did I ask you do DO THAT?” Well, no. He makes it clear he wants Natalia to put that money back into the Castillo’s bank account.

PAULEPE – are at the lake. Pepe says he cannot let her marry Rol when she does not love him. He can’t see it. She cannot be with someone she doesn’t love “for the rest of her life.” Oops, reality check. This hits Paula like a bucket of ice water. I’m telling at my TV for her to tell him the truth. She says she HAS to marry Rol and now I want to throw something at my TV screen.

FINAL SCENE – Emi is dressed for the wedding and Reni comes into his room. She is so excited, telling him they’re leaving for Europe tomorrow. Shows him the electronic tix on her phone. Aaaaand…. this is where my DVR cut off and stopped recording.

Well, I apologize for the typos above, even after proofreading (gah!), but I know y'all will know what I meant.

Observation .... Every telenovela I've ever watched has a character that is The Voice Of Reason. In older telenovelas of days past, it was often the village priest. Here we have two teenage girls, Andrea and Lucía, who are filling that role. Seems a bit odd and pathetic to me that teenagers know right from wrong and hold the truth more dear than the adults in this story.

Diana, thank you for that excellent recap . I am still trying to sort all these folks out , but I watch several novelas and sometimes the names from one show drift into another show .

So..Gaby Spanic is bringing the nastiness with her character Monica who is married to Rene Stickler ( Aldofo? ) who seems embarrassed by Monica while interested in her sister Cristina . Misael is the apple who fell from Monica's tree . I guess he is an only child...one of him must have been more than enough.

Do we know what happened to JE's father?

So..JE has two sisters , the pregnant One with the husband and the other one ( Bermudez..who looks familiar to me). I guess BeRmudez is meant for the guy whose wife left ...What is his name ? Is he supposed to be the foreman of the family's ranch ? I guess he is JE's bff.

Misael also has a bff\ partner in crime . Bruno?

Angeli ( Kim D R) is an angel like her mother, but her brother Santiago is the teen bad apple in that family .

Rebecca\Frida is a walking bad attitude with a constant scowl on her face . Her mother definitely seemed to get the call of the blood when she sensed her at the mausoleum. Will she immediately take Frida back to the house where the viper will be right there in the nest?

Novelera, glad to see you here. Yes, Univision now says premarital sex is okay for the good girls . Quite a change from the telenovelas I started watching years ago , so Kim dies not have to be chaste to be a good girl. Neither did Nuria in Vuelve a mi, but she was a single mother .

Thank you Diana! Another fantastic recap! I finally figured out who Fatima and Dulce are! LOL Still not sure about the boyfriends and husbands, but it's progress!

Fatima had said at the company that she didn't want marriage or children, EVER!! And then she had the unmistakable, eyes locked moment with Armando, who has children, lol; so I'm guessing Novelera is correct and both marriage and children are in Ms. Fatima's future! :) Her outfit was laughable for both office work and farm work, but it looks like this show is liking the bare midriff look. I personally hate that that look is back in style!! But oh well.

Frida is awful and her friend Doris is a piece of work too! Doris kept telling Frida that no one would ever accept her as the rich girl and that she would always be looked on as the poor one who was kidnapped and would get pity but still be less than Angelli!!! Really?? What kind of friend/delusional person would say or think that? With friends like these.... and both ladies have decided that Angelli is a selfish, self-involved person who cares about no one but herself because Frida remembers that Angelli 'hated' her before she was kidnapped. This 'reasoning' bugs the heck out of me! Frida is the older sister, right? And she was 4, so even if Angelli had hated her back then, these two fully grown adult women are convinced that they know who Angelli is now because of who she supposedly was at 2-3 years old?? Really?? I don't think it would bug me as much if just Frida believed this because she's irrationally jealous, but the idea that both ladies find this conclusion reasonable is insulting to my intelligence! LOL

Talk about insulting to intelligence, the old 'my husband is clearly flirting with you, so I am going to constantly accuse you of flirting with him' routine....fun fun

You made an interesting point that the voice of reason in this novela is two teen girls instead of a priest . Sometimes in the old novelas, it was an older relative. In newer novelas, it is often a counselor . I have been around a lot of teen girls , and they do seem to think they have a lot of answers .

I got a kick out of Rafa grabbing MAL off her feet as she charged to go after Andrea.

Rafa's beanie is like his support stuffy. He wears it, holds it , twists it in his hands .

Marcos seems to be our comic relief . I have no idea why he was the bouncer at the door keeping Nat out, but I liked that scene and the one after it with Lor questioning Nat about the money .

Hmmm....Gracia looked terrified when smiling Rosa started talking to her. My first thought was that Nat is actually Gracia's daughter , and Rosa raised Nat for some reason. Why? Who knows ?

Diego has nice hair. He should lose that wardrobe of bucket hats . I wish Lot had been stronger in his reaction to Rol yelling and grabbing Diego .

I am getting a little tired of Pepe hyperventilating and writhing .

Rosa is the bright spot in this show for me . How did Nat turn into a barricuda after being raised by sweet Rosa ?

Excellent job, Diana. There are so many family members and friends in Friday's epi and you captured them all. Much appreciated.

Angelli was in diapers when Frida was kidnapped. Just goes to show Angelli hasn't changed from the twit she was 20 years ago.

Yep, Fatima who doesn't want kids just met her future, abandoned husband with two kids.

I feel for Mati. She's been uprooted from her home, abandoned by mom, AND then encounters a big ole mouse in her new abode. Mr. Mousey would've sent me over the edge too. :>

Diego looks great sans the bucket hat. He of course was right about who Rol is who seems to have real vitriol right below the surface. "Rol says as of today he’ll be their father and (more or less says) discipline is up to him". Let's hope Paula plans to get more "involved" so that doesn't happen.

Paula begged and pleaded with Pepe and now that he has taken the initiative to (rightly) stop the wedding, she decides nopis, she's forging ahead. Unless of course something changed in the last scene which I can't remember either.

Like you and Susan, I had no idea why Marcos was barring Nat from the door but was happy he did so Lor could contront her.

I have a feeling Andreas's little note is going to end up unread.

Rosa already seems to know everyone doesn't she?? Yes, Gracia did not look at all happy to see her. Wonder what all this is about.

So will Paula say "I do". I really hope she doesn't but fear all this is headed that way.

Yes, Rene Strickler is Adolfo. Dulce is the pregnant sister and Mariluz is playing Fatima. There is a blonde man that seems to be plotting with Misael. I looked up Bruno who is played by Robert Romero (whom I don't know). I looked up a picture of him and I think you are right, he is Misael's partner in crime or one of them. Looks like Fatima and Luciano (whose wife just left him) will become an item.

I was also wondering what happened to JE's father. If it was mentioned, I didn't catch it. Does anyone else know perhaps?

I also feel for Mati but did not care for her eye rolling when the nice young woman greeted them at their new abode.

I had gerbils growing up and as an adult, a lovely guinea pig who was the sweetest. I'm smiling as I have always had an affinity for mice so can't really identify with Mati being squeemish but realize I am in the minority. 😊

It’s awful how Frida had the same personality at four as she does now. Ready to take her sister’s nan. She’ll be more determined when she discovers her family isn’t rich. Although there house is nice and there is a maid. She’ll fit right in with her brother and Misael.

I’m glad Lor knows about the money and has confronted Nat. It was good to see her trying to come up with a reason for the money being asked for. I hope Lorenzo realizes what she said makes no sense. I also hope he realizes she’s not trustworthy.
I’m glad Pepe took some action. Hope it works, but if he goes back to Mal I don’t see Natalia cancelling the wedding. Lorenzo needs to tell Paula how Rol treated Diego.

The girls seem to know more about life than the adults. And Diego too. They realize the kids can’t be happy if the parents are miserable.

I enjoyed Marco keeping Nat out.
And now we have another mystery. Gracia was shocked to see Rosa and Rosa was pleased to see Gracia.

Emi looked shocked when Reni mentioned leaving for Europe the next day. And I think she said no return ticket-or open return.

I record through my tv and it usually shows the coming attractions and the beginning of the next show. But last night it cut off when Paula and Pepe were in the field. Hopefully it will show at the beginning of Mondays as I don’t think I could have missed much.

Yes, the Gracia/Rosa mystery will keep us alert in the upcoming capitulos. There could be all sorts of Crockpot Theories© about this. Rosa's countenance upon seeing Gracia are important.
---I have always wondered if Gracia had a child out of wedlock that could come back to haunt her:
- Maybe Rosa worked at the foundling home where she gave it up. And raised Nat as her own.
- Could Natalia be Gracia's bio-daughter? (this thought does not appeal)
- And Gracia not know it?

Doris, yes, that is exactly what I thought . Rosa looked happy to see Gracia, but Gracia looked shocked and scared to see Rosa. In a previous episode, someone asked Gracia if she had children , and she got a very odd look on her face . Perhaps Rosa somehow raised Gracia's child ...Nat. We now have another mystery . Who is Nat's father ?

I cannot wait for Andrea's mother to show up . Susan

Diana, thank you very much for yet another excellent recap! Let me second Rgv Chick's compliments, you are a great asset for Caray.

I am actually enjoying this novela, at least somewhat. The big problem is that I can't keep straight who is who and married or related to whom. And I have spent a lot of time trying to figure it all out. But it's getting easier with time and your recaps and others' comments. I do wish the novela's creators had made it easier on us viewers. My comments have been short because I have been so lost with all the names and relationships.

Something I should have mentioned before, about Misael. He is a baddie for sure, but he did seem genuinely upset and concerned about his grandfather's stroke. Definitely a baddie, but perhaps with a small surviving conscience, at least where some family is concerned.

The young girl at the hacienda made me laugh out loud. She looks to be about 12, going on 20. Luciano's young son better watch out :-)

The show left us with a bit of a cliff hanger Friday night, the naughty so-and-so's.

It's been very challenging trying to figure out who's who. I'm hoping we won't have any new characters introduced until we can figure out all the ones we already have!

Yes, although his grandfather seems to know all about Misael's dirty deeds, Misael seemed genuinely concerned about him. "Definitely a baddie, but perhaps with a small surviving conscience, at least where some family is concerned" was perfect.

I also enjoyed the sweet, young girl who ("looks to be about 12, going on 20" good one) greeted Luciano and his family.

I may have said this already but I don't see how MALena thinks she can get away with cheating on Pepe. It's one thing to cheat on one's husband but to do so with his brother is as low as it gets. She has both BPD and NPD, which accounts for her unwillingness to share Pepe's love with their children but how does that justify her cheating with Rafa?

Teen girls being the Voice of Reason is completely appropriate here. They are both smart enough to understand that MALena and Rafa are setting poor examples.

There is a definite backstory between Rosa and Gracia and I can't wait for it.

Marcos gets on my nerves maybe because the actor skeeves me out.

Also hoping that Paula doesn't marry Rolando and that someone eventually figures out that MALena tried to kill her before episode 10.

Not sure why, but it doesn't surprise me that there was no personality improvement in Frida despite Alma's and Antonio's efforts and love. Frida's narcissism is now projecting her own hatred of Angeli onto Angeli herself and this is as much to convince herself as it is to convince others.

Elena could be getting a nasty shock tomorrow night but my gut says it will take a bit longer before she and Angeli know the truth.

Mariluz Bedermudez -- with near-platinum hair -- was the obnoxious Ana Sofie of Vencer al aucencia.

More later; need to go to the auction house tag sale.

Doris, you missed the last 15 minutes, but I missed the entire episode because my DVR failed to record!! ARGGHH! Thank you so much for filling me in on the this episode.

I too am very frustrated with Paula and Pepe bouncing back and forth like a ping pong ball. And I too am hoping that the wedding POOFS!

So Nat MIGHT be Gracia's daughter??? Oh wow. Even if she were, the nut fell far away from the tree! LOL unless we get to meet the father and the nut took after him.

So Andrea slips the note in Pepe's pocket? Like Diana, I bet the note gets lost or MAL takes it out before Pepe sees it.

I do however want to clarify that Angelii doesn't know about Santi's gambling problem. Sh ewas asking her mother if she was sure that Santi needed the money for his course...or was it for something he is hiding from them.

And yes, Bruno is only Fatima's boyfriend of two years...and yes, definitely in cahoots with Misael. He kept telling Misael to find those papers (that Don E has) or Misael will end up behind bars.

Hmmm. I thought sure there would be a reconciliation (of sorts) between Frida, Elena and Angel tonight. It is rather early in the storyline but I fear there is much revenge to be plotted and played out.
