VIVIR #37 Part 1 Part 1

Fatima returns to the head wedding table and Adolfo tells the assembled group that he needs to talk with Lucas who has important information relevant to Dulce’s murder. Misael of course is dismissive but everyone else looks very concerned.

At the barrio, we hear music and watch dancing. Lupe is talking with Lucas, as he grabs a plate, clearly visible out in the open, (not even bothering to hide) in plain sight! So much for keeping a low profile. Lupe tells him Adolfo came by and Lucas seems eager to prove Ramiro is innocent. Lupe discourages him.

Also in attendance is a sweet dog sitting under the table where Pedrito and Loli are playing a handheld game of catch a ball in the cup. Pedrito tears up explaining his loneliness but Loli assures the lovely youngster he isn’t alone and they hug.

Elena tells Angel that the most important thing is that Frida, mi Frida, is viva. Angel asks her thick as a brick mother to forgive her but at this moment, she can’t be happy, given the circumstances.

At the reception, Rebeca comes outside as Misael grabs her. She pushes him aways saying she is married to his primo. At that precise moment, JE comes out and Misael tries to cover up by saying he was just congratulating the lovely bride. Are you all right JE asks her? Claro she says putting her arms around him and kissing him. He pulls away and leads her off.

Santiago comes up to Renato in the kitchen. Renato is happy for his mother and Angel. Santiago rues Dulce’s murder and then tells Renato how important he is to Angel. Renato’s smile lights up his face.

Cris talks with newlyweds telling them she has arranged something special for their wedding night; she has booked a beautiful suite for them. Rebeca actually manages to smile; JE does not.

Elena has sought Alma out and confronts her with the truth. When Alma tries to defend herself (pointless as she is guilty as sin) she starts by saying “Rebeca” but Elena angrily says “Frida, my daughter’s name is Frida”. Elena berates her for all the years she had her daughter. Alma is upset but she really has no defense. Elena mentions the police and says she will not forgive her. Elena says she lost her husband and thanks to you, I lost her too. When Alma mentions the love of a mother, Elena scornfully (and rightly) says you aren’t the mother, I am! Alma prays to the Virgin for forgiveness.

The wedding suite door opens as JE remembers carrying Angel over the threshold. Rebeca asks him to carry her as it is tradition. He obliges and she thanks him as he recalls Angel telling him she’s the happiest woman on earth. In what surely must have stung, JE kisses Rebeca on the forehead and retreats into the bathroom. Rebeca takes measure of the room, nodding approvingly as she sees fruit and wine and smiles. Behind the closed door, JE undoes his tie and thinks about Angel.

VIVIR #37 Part 2 of 3

JE is in the shower as Rebeca gets a phone call. She starts to tell the receptionist it’s her wedding night when she is told someone is there looking for her and his name is MAURICIO!!

Fatima explains Romina’s situation to Don Emilio and Cris. I think Adolfo says that Romina pleaded guilty.

Rebeca scurries down to the front desk. She is given an envelope with a threatening note saying that everyone will know what she did! Also in the envelope was her lost earring! She is freaked out (as is viewerville).

Speaking of, Lucian, Romina and children are gathered at the table. Romina tries to paint them as a happy, reunited family but Luciano reminds her that they are no longer married. Good for him!

Angel and Renato are dancing and Renato dips her as she looks a little confused.

Rebeca returns to the suite, JE asking where she was. Seeing her expression, he moves toward her and asks what is wrong as he grabs the letter. What is the significance of this he demands; what is all this Rebeca? Faced with JE’s fury, Rebeca is impactada!! Backed into a corner with no possibility of escape, she admits the truth! She confesses I am not Rebeca; I am Frida del Olmo!

“Que?” Eyes wide with disbelief, JE assures her that is impossible as Frida is dead! He looks thunderstruck and keeps saying no as she tries to explain. Rebeca gets frantic and has the unmitigated gaul to try and blame Angel! He goes right back at her and assures her Angel is NOT to blame; she is!

Renato tells Angel he supports her unconditionally.

Romina tells Luciano she wanted to get her family back, her children. And you!

Meanwhile, Fatima is expressing skepticism about Romina’s guilt; she is very concerned about Luciano. Misael fans the flames by planting seeds of doubt intimating Luciano was Romina’s partner in crime. He brings up the timing as Luciano arrived just as Romina started working there. Misael purses his lips to emphasize the point as Fatima stares.

VIVIR #37 Part 3 of 3

Screaming like a man possessed, JE starts packing and yells at Rebeca to leave him alone! She is begging, saying they are married, asking him for his compassion (that’s rich). He yells no te quiero and of course Rebeca promptly faints (sadly not dead) away.

Angel continues to lean on Renato’s shoulder, talking quietly about JE and her sister.

Elena tells Gi the latest, bitter familial twist. She is unsympathetic when Elena mewls that Angel isn’t “accepting” Frida. But bless Gi (who seems very insightful) for her honesty in saying what she’s felt all along, that Rebeca/Frida is “muy mal” and all in all, just a bad seed.

Santiago shows up at the barrio party and Doris recognizes him, beating a hasty retreat. Marisa’s friend approaches him and introduces herself. They start dancing.

Romina asks Luciano for another chance. You are the mother of my children and therefore an important part of my life but I am in love with another woman! (Are we sure Luciano isn’t Gi’s son??) He bids her good night and walks away as we see her crestfallen face.

Fatima tells her family she is in love with Luciano! He is an excellent father, hard worker…she isn’t going to listen to any of Misael’s vitriol…Luciano calls Fatima and gets voice mail.

Monica is discussing current events with Bruno, grilling him about Fatima. She looks at him as though he was some delicious delicacy she was ready to devour.

Don Emilio approves of Luciano and Cris takes her hand…

As my stomach roils, I had to check twice to see if my eyes were deceiving me. Nopis; they aren’t. Bruno and Monica are kissing like guppies. ☹

Lupe arrives to find Alma crying on the coach. Tia, what is it Por Dios she asks. Alma tells her Rebeca is Elena’s daughter. Eyes wide, Lupe slowly repeats that Rebeca is Angel’s sister…

Elena and Gi continue talking and Gi acknowledges the shocking revelation that Alma had Frida all those years.

We next see Rebeca in the hospital (feigning) sleep as JE hovers nearby. (I don’t think the doctor attending her is the same one who was bribed; am I wrong?) In either event, he is going to order more tests. I don’t believe there is any immediate concern for either mother or child.

Angel and Renato sits, his arm around her, her head on his shoulder.

JE recalls Angel showing up at the wedding confronting Rebeca as he sits back, holding his head as he calls out for Angel, tears flowing. Rebeca is sleeping as the only sound we hear is the beep of the monitor.

Vivir. Another excellent recap, Diana! So Mauricio is alive? Or is he? We don't see him in person and neither does Rebeca. Could it be Misael instead? I am amazed at how quickly and easily Rebeca comes up with believable explanations for her grifts, etc. But this time is her fainting spell for real? Now several people know her true identity. At most, Romina may be an accessory after the fact to the fraud, but even that is a reach. And I notice that despite what his mother said, Lucas is still at home. Oh oh!

Regarding the timing of the fraud, my theory is the books were cooked to hide it after Ramira started working there. I imagine the original books have been changed and DE is the only one that knows of the original fraud. If I had been Misael I would have escaped to Switzerland and lived happily on the 50 million, unless they have extradition powers and he couldn't hide himself. DE once again proves to be the sharpest crayon in the box.
Why JE agreed to such a speedy marriage and hasn't made it clear to Refrida that it is purely a marriage of convenience and he doesn't love her I'll never know. DNA test!!!!! dummy.
I think Mauricio is alive, but not with amnesia, darn it. They missed a great opportunity there.
Diana, I'm not sure if it's the same Dr. either.
One other question I have regarding Alma. I almost got the impression from the flashbacks of them finding Frida that she lost her mind and convinced herself that Frida really was Rebecca and that only recently she discovered she wasn't. Can anyone else weigh in on that hypothesis that understands Spanish more than I.
 

I may have to rewatch this episode. Did JE also see the earring or had she secreted that away. Could Mauricio have removed it when he touched her ear before she ran him down? I don't see how Misael could have found it unless she lost it at the mansion so I don't think he sent the note.

Is anything Rebeca does "for real??" :) Maybe she did faint but ... It will be interesting to see what the tests reveal.

I could not believe Lucas is out and about as his life is in danger not only from Brayan but Misael as well...He should be hundreds of miles away not front and center. Ack.

JE should just skip any future honeymoons from here on in. If JE hadn't gotten the bad advice from Cris (and yes beloved Don Emilio), I don't think he would have caved and married Rebeca. I hope they don't reconcile because of the baby, but...

Fatima's been urging JE to have a DNA test but I don't think he's listening.

I will let those with far better language skills answer your question as to whether or not Alma's state of mind convinced her Frida was Rebeca.

The way the envelope was opened, you are right the earring did not appear to be in the envelope when JE looked in it. Frida likely removed it...If it was Mau that wrote the letter, he likely found the earring in the car after Frida hit him.

Thanks, Diana, that was great. I think Mauricio is alive. The police were there after Mauricio got hit so they either took him to the morgue or the hospital. But if he’s alive he knows Rebeca will stoop to murder.

I’m surprised no one suspects Misael. He’s now trying to say Lucian was her accomplice and Fatima defends Lucian. Everyone agrees with her but they don’t question why Misael is bringing him up.

So now JE is realizing he should have listened to Angel. I’m going to enjoy him being stiff and cold as Rebeca keeps kissing him. I hope it’s a new doctor and JE finds out the baby was conceived before he slept with Rebeca.

Elena is a fool. She knows what Rebeca’s done and still wants Angel to be a loving sister to her. As if Rebeca even wants that!

Diana, thank you for another great recap, you really had a lot of ground to cover with this crazy episode.

Speaking of crazy, I felt bad for Alma when Elena gave her what for. But Alma deserved it, and Antonio would have too, if not more as he wasn't really crazy. But poor Alma anyway.

Poor JE, poor Angel, even poor Misael and Refrita. Poor Renato and his illusions.

Did I say poor JE? Scratch that. He's been an idiot from the very beginning and marrying Refrita is just another step in his idiocy. He could have worked at being the best father in the world to the child without marrying Refrita. But, though he doesn't look like it, maybe he actually likes having his world go crazy now that he has married a very good-looking, very nasty and crazy, would-be murderess. A little spice in his life.

She certainly can think on her feet.

Monica and Bruno, definitely a match made in purgatory. I think Monica is just hot to trot and trolls relentlessly; Bruno is probably looking for some advantage. In any case, they deserve each other. Adolfo should encourage them :-)

Diana, I agree, I don't think that's the same doctor attending Refrita. And he mentioned something about seeing how the myoma is doing. I don't know that she has any myoma. It's a miracle! We'll see.

Anyway, it seems Mauricio is still alive. Good! Not that I'm that fond of him, but maybe he can shake things up a bit.

Wonder if JE ever heard that old adage " Marry in haste; repent in leisure."

Did Mau send that message ? If so, where is he hiding out ? If he died, the family hasn't noticed ....no funeral that viewers saw or heard of . If he isn't dead , does the family think he evaporated ...and doesn't care ? Nobody has said at the dinner table " Where in the world is Mauricio?" It is quite odd.

Andy and Duana, miomas are fibroids. I've actually had a myomectomy so I didn't have to look that up. You can be pregnant with them but they may induce miscarriages. I can't recall totally as my issue was 30 years ago, but I think they don't grow during the pregnancy. Pretty sure that isn't really her issue and it was the line the crooked Dr. came up with. The Dr. is not the same as the previous one that is in cahoots with Refrida and Monica. I much prefer Renato to JE in looks and character! Wouldn't it really be one for the books if a nice guy like him wins Angellita. Does anyone else think it is strange that 22 y.o. Angel is so capable in manufacturing and as a restauranteur? In most cases she would be fresh out of college at that age. The restaurant business I can see as she grew up in it, but the factory?

I believe that Rebeca told JE that the mysterious letter came from Angel, and that Angel had taken the earring from her. (I could be wrong about this; I'm not sure it makes sense for Angel to take the earring and then return it in a mysterious letter, but it might be better than saying that Mauricio is alive and also has something against Rebeca.)

JE wasn't buying any of it.

Mauricio's disappearance and the lack of interest from the rest of the cast is very odd. But I think it happened before with Santiago as well. People seem to disappear and reappear all the time here.

The myoma may well have been the bribed doctor's invention, and now the (so far) not bribed doctor might wonder where the myoma went, which would be bad for Rebeca's story.

About Angel's business successes, it's fairly standard telenovela fare. Women can do anything. Someone suggests you might want to hold some Cklass fashion and make-up parties at home. Next you have an upscale car and are a manager of sorts, then an executive at Cklass HQ. Or at a marmalade plant.

A positive message and good, clean fun, as long as you don't take it too seriously and mortgage the house to start things rolling.

Yep, Elena IS "Thick as a brick".

Santiago wants to learn to be a chef from Renato. He blames himself (rightly) for using the money to pay the bank loan to keep the thugs he owed from gambling off his back. I think he'll be a good guy from now on. He did kind of lay it on thick about how Angelli talks about Renato all the time. I don't think we've seen that. Maybe he just wants his sister to move on.

Yep, the thing that got Romina out of the slammer is confusing. I can't remember the exact working in Spanish, but it seemed like she more or less confessed to not having been careful enough in her job rather than actually embezzling the money for her own use.

Bruno is a piece of crap. He told Monica he wasn't stressing about losing Fatima because there were so many beautiful women in the world. Later on they're passionately kissing. Is Bruno really into her or is he after something? Money?

Don Emilio said something pointed about (JE and Refrida) people marrying the wrong partners, and Adolfo looked away in embarrassment.

That's not the same sketchy looking doc we saw before. I'm not sure about Refrida's health or lack thereof. We did see her faint on Misael before any of the later drama with JE. As far as I remember, I don't think it's been said outright that the doctor was paid to lie about her condition. But the new guy who's examining her could say she's farther along than she's told JE. Nah! Too early for that bomb to explode.

JE, the dumbest galan in my memory, moans: "Why didn't I listen to Angelli?" She told him at the wedding reception that Refrida was an imposter. But then she foolishly let herself be led away for a private chat with her "big sis". In a better plot, she'd have turned on her phone recorder to catch Refrida's venom for later playback.

My memory tells me that Alma didn't know who Refrida was until she found the box that Antonio had with the clippings about the missing child. Antonio kept it from her because she was like a zombie about losing her Rebeca. I think he kept it to himself because of how much he loved his wife. So, Elena is right that the child should have been turned into the police right away, but wrong that Alma deliberately kept her specific child from her.

I thought the earring was inside the envelope that also contained the note. There's something odd about this. I thought the police said something about finding Mau's body a week or so ago.

Thank you Diana for another excellent recap! My ongoing IT issues have me back in the IT office today so I will be short and sweet since I have to comment from my phone.

About Alma, I do believe in the immediate moment of getting Rebeca she did have a break from reality and believe she was her Rebeca, but it didn’t continue throughout Rebeca growing up. She may not have known that she was Frida, but she knew she wasn’t her Rebeca. She was aware she had kept someone else’s child and is responsible for that choice.

There have been a couple comments here and there wondering where Mau is but no real discussion. I don’t actually think that is weird because most of the characters don’t want him around anyway and he has a history of disappearing. They probably all just assumed he took over again and don’t care enough to discuss it.

Don’t feel sorry for JE at all but Diana you are absolutely right, dude is horrible with wedding nights!! He clearly marries women so he can scream at them! Refrida deserves it but still!

Darcy, I agree that the reason Mauro's disappearance isn't discussed is they think he left for parts unknown. Didn't DE tell him he had to pay room and board or something.
OT I've only ever commented via my phone which leads to quite a few typos as it only shows the first 5 lines of my comments unless I scroll down. Is it easier on a laptop and can mistakes be corrected after the fact.

Mau is certainly an unwanted house guest so your noting that he isn't missed along with the fact he takes off makes the family's obvious disinterest in his whereabouts feasible.

If I were Sebastian I'd be getting that tattoo removed ASAP! I was a bit confused why Doris avoided him at the fiesta. I guess she plied him with drinks and probably helped the other players at the poker games where he lost all the money so she didn't want to be near him for that reason?

I still have the memory of that earring on the carpeting while Refrida was thinking fast on her feet ( as she does so well) and spinning a tale for dim JE ( always ready to make a bad decision ). I can't remember feeling more disgust for a galan. Boohoo . Who would want a Quixote guy like JE? Not me .

Novelera, I always appreciate your added details . I think that Bruno is just one of those guys who is always " after" something .

Santiago showing up alone at the barrio party was odd, but I'm glad Doris saw him. She can't avoid him forever.

Bruno hits on every skirt he sees, including the underage house servant (forget her name) and now the mature mom of his BFF.

I don't get why Mauricio would return the earring. I would've sent Rebeca a photo of it instead.

Poor JE yells at Rebeca like he wouldn't have married her if he'd known she was Angel's sis. Hombre, you married on account of the baby. There's still a baby, whether it's Angel's sobrino/a or not, so quit your bellyaching.

Elena is clueless expecting Angel to buddy up with her sis, but I can see a mother not wanting her daughters to let a man come between them. At the end of the day, I get why Elena offers no comfort to Angel about losing JE and wants her to move on.

*Over at Connie's: The Doctor & Honorio are amazed at how Connie is recuperating. Smiles all around indeed.

*Karina is at Alfonsina's: Upset about Areli (AKA Spare Girl) getting Lazaro's attention. Don't worry Karina, once Areli gets whacked, you'll be back with Lazaro in the end.

*Matilde & Karina find out from Hermina that Lazaro & Areli left last night. We all know what happens next: Karina leaves crying & upset; Maltilde scolds Hermina for being chismosa, etc.,

*Lazaro puts Areli on the bus, where she kisses him passionately. Gut feeling Areli still gets whacked later on. Just saying!

*Carlos calls Jeronimo to give him the scoop on Areli. Jeronimo is pissed off again.

*Karina crying to Alfonsina about finding out on Lazaro & Areli.

"Bruno hits on every skirt he sees...", had me smiling!! From Sandra to Monica and likely everyone in between...his character is so obvious and unappealing. I will never understand what Fatima saw in him. Onto better right??

In addition to lies and subterfuge to "steal" Angel's husband, Rebeca has tried to hurt and humiliate her in a number of other ways including having her wash dishes and clean up Rebeca's purposeful spills. She has always harbored hatred for her younger sister. I can understand why Elena wants everyone to just get along, but that bridge has been washed away and likely never to be rebuilt.

"Hombre, you married on account of the baby. There's still a baby, whether it's Angel's sobrino/a or not, so quit your bellyaching". Exactly!!! Perfect!!

Yes, Diana it has been several weeks with my computer!!! They keep trying different fixes that aren’t solving the problem! It’s driving me crazy!!!! This last round they had to actually take my computer which is why I am at the office using a public computer. They told me 1-2 days when I dropped it off and they’ve had the machine since last Tuesday! Extremely frustrating
 

VIVIR #38 Part 1

We see a distraught JE, realizing and lamenting what he has done.

Lupe and Alma talk, Lupe seems to think Alma did everything she could for Rebeca but she has as low an opinion of Rebeca as Gi does. Alma thinks she will end her life in jail.

Adolfo tells his drunken wife she is ridiculous. Barely able to walk, she ridicules him as she falls on the couch, another drink in hand.

Fatima tells her mother how much in love she is. Fatima’s happiness is the most important thing to her Cris retorts. Fatima mentions Mau but neither seem overly concerned about him. They hug and Cris rocks her and kisses her.

Icky meets Gi and their son at Del Olmo as Doris watches from the sidelines. She screams indignantly but they don’t hear her. She starts to make her way toward them but loses a heel and can’t walk.

Angel sits down with Alma, Angel looking worried and a bit afraid. Alma seems to say she had no ill intentions. She harkens back to that fateful, rainy day, as she and Antonio pulled the car over, finding Rebeca on the ground. She cradles her in her arms, murmuring “Mi Rebeca”. Kindhearted Angel gets on her knees and hugs her. I keep thinking what a lovely girl Angel is as my own eyes start misting.

The huge sun rises. JE is pacing in the hospital as Cris comes rushing in. She asks how is your baby? Then, she asks about Rebeca. He tells her the baby is fine. Then he jumps up, highly emotional and beside himself as he tells her Rebeca and Angel are hermanas! He (rightly) berates himself for being such an imbecile. (No argument from viewerville). Cris tells him to calm down reminding him how “delicate” Rebeca is. In this moment mi nieto, your child is the most important thing!.

Rebeca is on the phone with Monica. She gives her the name of the new doctor and said JE cannot find out she doesn’t have the myomas. JE comes in and she hangs up. JE tells her she is not making any further decisions. He is insisting on the tests and as proof, the doctor comes in right behind her and she is wheeled out.

Over breakfast, Angel holds Elena’s hand as Santiago enters, having overheard a bit of their conversation. Elena tells Santiago Frida is alive. His face lights up, where is she? Frida is Rebeca Angel says as Santiago stares.

JE laments he lost the love of his life, describing himself in his most oft-used word, “imbecile”. Cris is concerned about her nieto.

Santiago is asking questions but Elena wants peace. She starts in on Angel again as Santiago looks uncomfortable.

Rebeca is getting an ultrasound looking extremely unhappy.

Cris visits Elena. Is Rebeca all right is Elena’s first question. Cris says she knows Rebeca is Frida. Elena shares how she is feeling; Chris understands as she recalls sharing a tender moment with Dulce before she died.

Monica makes a call and decides to go to the hospital.

“Hija” Elena says as she enters Rebeca’s room, enveloping her in a hug. My baby she cries, I’ve been waiting for this moment. Elena strokes her hair and hugs her. To my amazement Rebeca’s face is not contorted with hate and does seem to be genuinely crying.

VIVIR #38 Part 2 of 2

Cris is back in the hospital with JE as Elena holds Rebeca’s hands. She tells her all the years she thought about her wanting to be alive. Rebeca asks her to forgive her. Elena effuses about the baby and says Angel and Santiago, your family are there for you. Rebeca seems to say Angel won’t accept her. Elena reassures Rebeca how very noble and good Angel is.

JE bursts in as Elena said she will leave them alone. Face like a thundercloud, the camera zooms in on his face as she asks him what happened. Before he answers, outside the room, Elena greets Cris with Monica hovering in background. Cris tells Elena the doctor said the tests showed there are no myomas and that the pregnancy was going perfectly. Joy outside, none inside. JE screams at Rebeca that there are no myomas and she is fine. She tries to say the tests have to be wrong but he assures her they aren’t. He asks her why she would do something like that? Was it money? Ambition? She tries to explain but the scene ends…

OMG, a ranting, raving Doris goes to confront Icky at work! She identifies herself as his amante as Sebastian calls Icky. The coward is on the floor asking him to lie for him. Security show up and Sebastian sends them away. He manages to calm Doris down and then (inexplicably) asks her to go have a drink with him!

Luciano gets a glass of cold water from his “hermanita” Sandy. Fatima is at the front door as Javier admits her. Mati is sitting there but Fatima’s joy quickly fades as Romina appears.

At a bar, Sebastian orders two tequilas. Then, JE calls Sebastian who makes his apologies to Doris as he must return to the office. They smile at each other and he kisses her on the cheek. She takes both tequila off the tray and clicks glasses.

Lucas is being chased by Brayan and two of his thugs as his parents are home dancing, With a tragic false sense of security, Lupe is happy because Lucas has been in school and staying away from Brayan.

At that moment, Brayan and his gang catch up with Lucas. Lucas talks back but Brayan reassures him he will help as his parents will die if he doesn’t go along.

Fatima paces outside when Luciano rides up on a beautiful horse. He hugs Fatima and she turns her back. He nuzzles her neck and tells her how important she is to him. All of this is too much and she rejects him.

JE greets Jimena and says he must speak with Angel as he makes the “praying hands” motion. Jimena smiles.

Angel is with Renato in her office. They are shaking hands when JE comes in with a “buenas tardes.” JE would like to speak with her and Renato leaves as the theme music plays. He apologizes for ever doubting her, telling her Rebeca is a liar and imposter. He puts his hand on her cheek as her will weakens and they kiss…

Did anyone notice that Doris appeared at Iker's office wearing the same Barbie hot pink colored dress as his wife was wearing when she was met at the restaurant by Iker and her son. (I'm drawing a blank on the wife's name ATM). Don't think they were the exact same style, but pretty darn close. Guess they are setting up a love interest for Sebastian now, though it is pretty soon after Dulce's death if you ask me. So the new Dr. shares the results with JE but doesn't say the age of the baby. If Refrida, or will she just be Frida from now on, had been smart she could have told the Dr he could only share the results with her. Do they have HIPPA laws in Mexico? They are holding that info for another time I guess ....

Sebastian deserves someone wonderful; I had been hoping for Jimena (as I never thought she'd take Icky back) but Doris is somewhat of a surprise.

I'm assuming the doctor thinks JE knows how far along the pregnancy is and perhaps felt no need to note it. I don't know what laws are in place in Mexico for patient confidentiality but if Frida insists the doctor speak only to her, JE would become even more insane that she is hiding more things, which of course would be the case.

If ReFrida doesn't kill Elena first Elena will feel like a prize fool at the end of this tale. Like Christine Penmark she has never seen her daughter for the bad seed she really is. This plays into an idea I hate which is that personality is genetic, but what did anyone know back in the 50s?

Angeli may have to forgive Elena after this. I feel bad for her.

Misael impersonating Maurio? Interesting and it would definitely be a tactic of his. However, it would be foolish to return the earring unless it is a duplicate and he kept the one that could have ReFrida's DNA on it.

Monica is a real caricature of a woman. A disreputable one. Nothing more pathetic than an old slut.

JE was justifiably angry at the test results and I hope he listens to Fatima about the DNA test.

I do hope that Alma doesn't have to suffer much more. She was insane with grief when she and Antonio found ReFrida, but will a court of law care about that?

Elena is so overcome with emotion right now, I fear her eyes will be cloudy for quite some time and she will not see Rebeca for who she is. Even before the revelation, she was far more supportive of Rebeca than she should have been, especially in view of what Rebeca did to Angel. Call of the blood or not, she defended her even though she broke her daughter's heart.

"Monica is a real caricature of a woman". She certainly is!!

If JE is an intelligent man, he should rightly question everything. And yes, the DNA test is the very best place to start.

I'm still thinking about the look on Rebeca's face when Elena hugged her. It actually seemed (gulp) genuine...

Vivir. An exceptionally good recap, Diana! Monica wants to corrupt Rebeca's new doctor but doesn't get the chance. Wonder if it would have worked? This novela (or at least Monica's ideas) certainly give a bad view of the Mexican medical profession. JE is extremely angry about Rebeca's deceiving him about the status of her pregnancy (and yep, too bad the doctor didn't say exactly how far along she was). He now has Rebeca's number and will seek an annulment. How will Rebeca get out of this one? Or will she? Lucas's persecution by Brayan's gang and the threats against his parents' lives are very depressing. It's almost incredible how idiotic his parents were not to send him away.

So what's JE's plan now for the baby? Although he sees Rebeca is loca and a big fat liar, he's said the baby is the most important out of everything. Will he let the loca have custodial custody of his baby?

Whoa, Doris has hit the lottery with Sebastian. Even if they become just friends, she'll be the better for it. But I don't know about him. He had class in Dulce and, uh ... Doris scratches in public. :>

Rebeca had painted adopted pop Antonio as abusive (untrue) to gain sympathy from JE. I'm wondering if she'll claim Alma was rotten to her.

Like you, I can't fathom why Lupe didn't send Lucas away. I am afraid as to what Brayan will have him do. I wish he'd tell Lupe the truth but if he hasn't thus far. There is no Ramiro waiting in the wings to help him...

Elena's joy at seeing and hugging her daughter was real, every word and tear. In that moment, Rebeca seemed to feel and reciprocate the pure love and caring.

"Will he let the loca have custodial custody of his baby?" is a great question. Unless JE caves (again) and stays with Rebeca (for the sake of the baby), someone should insist on the DNA test so they (and we) do not have to endure a long trial.

Don't anybody tell me that Monica is not a fun telenovela character, sort of. OTOH, why in the world has Adolfo stayed married to her all these years? They don't get along well, he is not all that invested in Misael, thankfully. And he's not having much late night fun as Monica has said that what she's not getting at home she has to find elsewhere.
If he's still trying to connect with Cristina, might he not do better if divorced?

Diana, thank you for explaining the scene with Elena and Cristina. I was totally lost, I had pretty much forgotten about Dulce. And, yeah, no hate from Rebeca, but I don't know if there was much love there either. Maybe she's worried about the ultrasound.

No myoma! It's a miracle! No, actually Monica didn't get to the doctor in time to drag him off to a linen closet and work her magic on him, with money and/or the famous Monica's Magic Touch therapy.

Monica is a hoot! And I can understand her Spanish!

Rebeca really looked distressed with Elena and especially when JE went crazy on her. I felt sorry for her, even knowing all the bad things she has done.

Sebastian and Doris? Well, why not? And he seemed interested on first sight. That always calls for further research.

I readily admit Monica can be entertaining; her facial expressions and lip puckering often have me smiling. She says what she wants, when she wants and where she wants and is always herself, flawed and imperfect. She is however quite cold blooded. She does have certain "gifts" including "Monica's Magic Touch therapy" and can be quite persuasive!

Rebeca seemed to genuinely get caught up in the moment with Elena. Whether it was a momentary flood of emotions only or if she proves to genuinely love her mother will be revealed in time.

"I am so tired of Brayan and his gang. And tired of Angel giving in to JE". I strongly second that. How long will JE and Angel last this time before somthing happens to rip them apart again? I am very afraid for Lucas...

You are right, Sebastian seemed quickly smitten and they seemed to enjoy each other's company. Finding someone you can laugh with is so important...

Yes, I enjoyed the scene with Angelli and Alma. Alma clearly explained how she was not right in the head from grief and that Frida was all alone and needed a mother. I expected them to talk a bit more about how Frida was pretty evil from the beginning, but Alma didn't go there.

I saw something that made me less impatient with Cris. I was pretty annoyed at her pressure tactics getting JE to marry Frida. But she mentioned her grief at losing the grandchild that Dulce was expecting, so there's that.

I can't believe Monica couldn't get to the doctor to bribe him, and in a Mejia novela!

And we got to see JE screaming. As someone said here, he's great at screaming at women. I could hardly believe he got the test results and didn't cave to her pleading.

Sebastian and Doris? Why not? I got a kick out of their tequila luncheon.

Color me surprised that Angelli didn't resist JE's kisses.

Too many good things are happening too soon. How will Frida manage to screw with Angelli again?

Thanks Diana, I enjoyed the recap. I didn’t expect JE to learn some truths about Rebeca so early. But he still has a lot to learn.

I was trying to think of interactions Santiago had with Rebeca. He definitely did not seem overjoyed that she’s his long lost sister. I think I’d be thinking my prayers could have been for something good. I’m thinking he might have known her as Misael’s girlfriend, but not sure.

I liked the scene with Angel and Alma. I’m hoping Angel will convince her mother not to file charges. Rebeca was not very nice before she was kidnapped, Alma had to raise her through the teen years, all in all, I think she did Elena a favor. Rebeca was going to be like she is no matter what.

Doris screaming at Icky’s office was so classless. I can’t see Sebastian having a relationship with her and was shocked when he went out with her. Icky hiding under the desk was not surprising, such a coward.

Monica couldn’t get through to the doctor on the phone so she decides to go to the hospital. Was she going to pull him aside and bribe him! Alas, she was too late. Funny thing is, it’s her first grandchild but she seems to have no feelings for it. After reading the comments I’ve decided I’ll view her as the comedy relief. But those lips!

I felt so sorry for Fatima. But did she ever tell Luciano why she was rejecting him. No, she went by what his kids said.

Angel needs to tell JE he needs to get his life back before he shows his face.

Liz, per some previous dialogue between Monica and Misael, there was another grandchild ( or child, perhaps) that she managed to get rid of 8 years ago. Diana, I can't remember who Gabriel is so his absence hasn't been noticed by me.

Thank you, Diana, for the recap! I am commenting real quick since it's almost time for today's episode and I still haven't commented to yesterday's. I am so busy today trying to get things done that were put on hold due to IT having my computer for a week. I now have the work computer back (the issue is still unfixed and ongoing) and my boss wants several things done like 10 mins ago. I haven't taken a break all day and I'm not going to break long now but I wanted to check in and say thank you, I enjoyed as always reading your recap and viewing the episode through your perspective. I will hopefully have time tomorrow to comment more on the actual episode but luckily our wonderful patio has it all covered! :)

VIVIR #39 Part 1

JE moves toward Angel and they kiss passionately as the theme music swells. No, no, Angel says, pulling away. JE demurs, no, no, you are my woman. Despite Angel’s protestations about Rebeca, he tells her he is an “imbecile” and begs for another chance. One more opportunity he pleads, cupping her face in his hands. Por favor, you are married to Rebeca, my sister who is pregnant with your child. Please leave she repeats looking sad. JE acquiesces and walks out the door as she looks after him, heartbroken, clutching her hands, murmuring his name.

Conversations between Rebeca and Cris and Angel and Elena are interspersed throughout the next few scenes. The words were spoken in rapid-fire fashion. Rebeca gives Cris a not quite true confession that she loves JE and her baby. She tries to talk Cris into getting JE to stay with her but Cris refuses! Angel assures Elena that JE is the love of her life. The most important thing I gleaned was that Elena threatens Angel that if she doesn’t give Rebeca a chance she is going to have Alma arrested! Kindly add what I missed.

Alma tells Lupe she is afraid that Elena is going to have her jailed because Rebeca is Frida. Wanda (the blonde who danced with Santiago at the barrio party the other day) overhears everything.

Elena is still begging Angel to accept Rebeca.

Wanda runs to Doris and spills every drop of the tea.

Mati is doing a video call with Lucas; they discuss Brayan whom Mati says, “is a criminal”. Such an understatement. I couldn’t tell if he told her about his parents being threatened.

Doris approaches Brayan and makes the sign for him to look at her face, not her chest. She mentions Rebeca is in the hospital. He ends up going there with her and he runs into JE! JE can’t quite place him but Brayan asks if he is the one who took his woman from him. He then smirks and says Rebeca only married him because of his millions!

JE shares his heartbreak about Angel with Cris. He wants to return to the hacienda. Cris, in a sad about face, agrees that while Rebeca is wrong, Rebeca is upset at everything that is happening to her. Cris gives her speech about the child being his, yada, yada. She must know it by heart now. She begs him to stay close to Rebeca and not to abandon his child.

Luciano follows Fatima who has stalked away. He tries to explain, telling her he loves her. Por favor he implores…just then, Bruno shows his ugly countenance. I believe he accuses him of being Romina’s accessory in the fraud. Luciano steps back in shock. Bruno dismisses him and tells him to leave, stealing JE’s “imbecile” line. Then Bruno crawls after Angel spewing spittle. She tells him Luciano is the love of her life and hastens away.

Brayan and cronies are in the park when Lucas shows up, keeping his promise.

At the fabrica, Alma shares her worries for Alma with Angel. Angel tells her she doesn’t have to worry that Alma will go to jail. Alma apologizes that Rebeca is Angel’s sister. Angel smiles.

Misael comes in as Monica hangs up the phone. She tells him JE has asked Rebeca for an annulment and warns Misael not to go looking for Rebeca. With tears in his eyes, Misael tells her he is “harto”, fed up with Monica controlling his life.

Romina confronts Fatima, warning her she is going to recover her husband and her children. There will be no divorce!

VIVIR #39 Part 2 of 2

Some good news: Fatima overhears Monica say aloud that only God knows who the baby’s father is!! Rebeca will be very lucky if JE never asks for a paternity test!!

Elena is throwing a dinner. For Frida, and of course she wants Angel to come. Santiago is there and agrees (traitor).

Brayan is getting Lucas to do something on the computer. I think Lucas is trying to get Brayan implicated somehow.

Gabriel shows up at Mati’s and Doris visits Rebeca in the hospital.

Sebastian asks JE how Angel is and he brings him up to speed. Sebastian looks on sympathetically.

Meanwhile, Jimena is talking with Angel at the restaurant as Renato, Elena and Santiago come up. Jimena seems to be on team Renato.

Luciano is working in the field, throwing shovels down in frustration as Romina shows up with Tupperware. He begrudgingly thanked her.

THE huge moon looms. Elena greets Rebeca who sports a hideous gold lame jacket. Elena makes the introductions – this is Santiago your brother. Hermano she says hugging him as he smiles and hugs her back. Angel arrives and she and Rebeca greet each other coldly.

Monica is pouring herself a drink (shocking I know). With angry, frustrated tears in his eyes, Misael tells her he will not allow her to take a child from him again. She said she didn’t have to do much to get rid of the slut. All she asked for was a paternity test and the girl took off! Misael doesn’t believe her. Monica says he should be thanking her; what was he thinking to have gotten involved with a dancer? Misael tells Monica he loved the woman. Monica dismisses this saying the woman was much older and just wanted a wealthy catch! She is confident the woman returned to the slum she came from.

Next, we see a scene where Pedrito runs smack into Wanda. They have a quick exchange and Wanda looks down at him with great sadness. Why is Misael the first thought flitting across my mind??

Santiago comments that what happened to them would make a good story. Angel says there are too many loose strings. She wants to know why Rebeca got close to them without revealing her intentions.

Vivir. Excellent recap as usual, Diana. "Bruno shows up with his ugly countenance." Love it! Did Bruno crawl after Angelli or Fatima? JE is sure right that he's an imbecile. Lucas seems to have worked out a plot against Brayan. But, oops! Mati calls Lucas at exactly the wrong time and Brayan sees it. Yep, could Pedrito be Misael's son and perhaps Wanda's as well? At least the writers seem to be planting the clues that way.

Thanks, Diana, that was a great recap. When you mentioned the other child of Misael I remembered. Then watched the episode and got more information on the child. And then it moves to a scene with Pedrito. Not a coincidence!

I loved when Brayan told JE that Rebeca married him for his money. JE is getting what he deserves. How many times has he dumped Angel. If Brayan is telling the truth then the baby could be his! So many possibilities, but not a chance of it being JE’s.

Gabriel is mentioned and then appears in the next show. Are the writers reading this blog? I was one who also couldn’t remember who he was!

I liked Romina better when she had deserted her family. She’s pretty obnoxious as the wife. I felt sorry for Fatima. I hope Bruno fails at his assignment.

I enjoyed Misael telling off his mother. Apparently she’s been interfering in his life for years.

Santiago must not have know Rebeca very well as he also seems happy to have his sister there. Poor Angel will have to put up with Rebeca for a while. I hope she really questions and probes her during the rest of the dinner. And I hope Elena doesn’t invite Rebeca to live with them. She does think this is her child and grandchild. Well, not think, because it is.

You may be right Liz. I don't think Rebeca has too many options of where to stay. JE doesn't want her at the hacienda. There's Alma's but Elena's digs are more upscale. Additionally, Rebeca would also be able to make Angel's life even more miserable with her presence!

I didn't like that stolen kiss lunging JE put on Angel . Really , after rejecting her TWICE and saying awful, hurtful things to her ??? Fool me once; shame on you. Fool me twice; shame on me . It happened twice , so it could happen again. JE acts out before thinking which is a very bad quality in a mate. He never gave Angel the benefit of the doubt. She should have given him a good push and said, " Get off me. " I would love Angel to end up with kind Renato. JE is a spoiled little boy .

Romina, hey, you didnt want him or your kids . Now somebody wants them .

You all are reading my mind re Pedrito. I'm thinking he may be Misael's. Pedro said he had been on his own on the streets for a year after his abuela died. I would think if Wanda was the mother she would have stepped up or been a part of the child's life.
I think maybe Bruno was sent to the hacienda to implicate Luciano in some way. Poor Romina with nothing to do but cook lunch for her soon to be ex.

Diana, thanks for another great recap. I was at the VA today and missed the show, and I really did miss it! It sometimes drives me to distraction, but if I can't watch it I'm annoyed again. I am watching the recording.

"Wanda runs to Doris and spills every drop of the tea." That was great, really cute!

I love Wanda and Doris together; when they put their heads together they have a whole brain to work with!
And I hope Doris and Sebastian do become a thing; it would do them both some good.

Speaking of Wanda, could she be the first woman Monica got rid of? And Pedrito, could he be hers?
Kat supplied some information I was not at all aware of, "... re Pedrito. I'm thinking he may be Misael's. Pedro said he had been on his own on the streets for a year after his abuela died." I have to clean the wax out of my ears and maybe my Spanish will improve.

But this invites more questions. If he is Wanda's child, does Wanda know? Pedrito's "abuela"? Really an abuela? Wanda's mom? Certainly not Monica!
Or maybe, as Diana suggested, just someone who was paid to take care of him.

And why has he been allowed to fend for himself in that barrio? It is not so poor that people have to resort to dumpster diving, and the people, other than Brayan's gang, are mostly very nice. Well, we should have some answers fairly soon, I hope.


At first I was dismayed at the thought that this novela would have 125 chapters, but now I see some hope because of it. Maybe, just maybe, with all the couples playing musical chairs, Fatima & Bruno, Fatima & Luciano, Icky and Jimena, Icky and Doris, Rebeca & whoever; is it possible that Angelli will not wind up with idiot JE?

Just hoping, and trying to remember some prayers from my childhood.

This show can be so frustrating, yet I find it's rather addicting. I start getting antsy around 12:30 waiting for it to come on! There has been so much happening in every episode lately, if you miss one, you miss a lot.

I look forward to finding out Wanda's backstory. I didn't get the feeling she knows Pedrito is hers (if in fact he is), but she looked so sad and wistful, I wouldn't be surprised.

"...is it possible that Angelli will not wind up with idiot JE?" While not the norm, it has happened Andy. In Querida enemiga, the protagonista ended up not with the main galan but with galan #2. Granted the main galan cheated on her with her best friend. Still, he never screamed at, or treated her as shabbily as JE has treated Angel (except for the cheating part of course). I'm holding out hope.

How can Misael even function with Monica fir a mother? She is a monster of selfishness and an ugly caricature in the bargain. Something tells me Monica wants to keep him all to herself. Sick, sick, sick.

I'm not sure if ReFrida ever boinked Brayan (whom I wish would disappear) but we know that JE is not the father of her fetus. Fatima needs to talk to him about what she overheard. I think JE's stance against her living under the same roof reflects his awareness that this would make it harder for him to get an annulment. He needs to do that no matter what happens with Angeli.

I am totally fed up with Elena. There are too many parents out there who make the same demands she is making of Angeli and that is absolutely wrong. It gives ReFrida license to abuse and she will continue to abuse.

If Refrida wasn't so spiteful and bent on harming her sister, she could have married Misael, who's in love with her and is the Real Baby Daddy! OTOH she conveniently overheard the whole business about his stealing $50 million from the family business, so she'd eventually have a husband in the slammer. Let me see: Monica or Cris as a mother-in-law. Nah. Refrida's not going to cohabit with that harpy.

I think Lucas plans to help with the computer hacking for the big heist, but to somehow arrange for Brayan and the other thugs to get caught red-handed.

I should have written them down, but I had to laugh at all the insults Monica came up with for Refrida when Misael told his mother that he loved Refrida.

ITA about Pedrito being the kid Misael fathered and that Monica somehow spirited away. He's a nice little boy. Must be Adolfo's genes showing up.

I'm over Mati. I see the writers are going with she and Lucas being a couple, but I'm still steaming about her confronting Fatima and telling her that her parents were getting back together. She's just a selfish brat. She'd rather have her nuclear family than her father's happiness.

Are they going with Refrida having straightened hair now that she's a wife? It was seriously curly until the wedding.

Liz, I don't think Refrida would ever move in with Elena. She wants to be under the same roof with JE to keep the pressure on.

Yes, JE is smart enough to realize he shouldn't be living "with" Rebeca if he wants an anulment, great point.

I too am disappointed with Elena. She is putting Angel in even more peril, making her an easy target for Rebeca's maliciousness. Knowing she has her mother's approval will enable Rebeca to feel free to continue to hurt her sister.

Interesting that both Elena and Cris have "championed" Refrida. At least somewhat. Elena for the obvious and Cris due to the ongoing pain of losing Dulce and her grandchild. Monica? Nopis, not so much. I didn't understand all the words Monica was using to disparage her to Misael but I can imagine!

Fatima should realize that Mati is spewing lies. Luciano has given her no reason to think he is considering a reconciliation with Romina. The only reason she is living there is that she has no where else to go. But I understand it is an untenable situation for Fatima, who wants to move forward.

Yes, the writers have given Refrida a new "luke", straight, now lustrous hair. She is now wearing full eye makeup, even eyeliner in the hospital!

So Wanda is likely Misael's first love. I'll just say he has strange taste in women. The first time Wanda entered the TN she came on so strong with a man on the street that I thought she was a prostitute. She seems to have a heart though, unlike Rebeca.

Elena will never see Rebeca for what she is. Poor Angel is wasting her time trying to tell her mom Rebeca did all this on purpose. I hope she gives Renato a shot.

It certainly seemed to set up the idea that Wanda and Misael are Pedrito's parents, but if that's so than we definitely need to know more, because if Wanda knows that Pedrito is her son and she's just letting him live on the streets then she's worse than Misael!!! Then again, this show is painting Alma as the victim even though she kidnapped Refrida, so I guess they could try to sell Wanda as a good/sympathetic character who just abandoned her son to his grandma? I guess we'll find out.

It drives me crazy that both Angel and Lupe are so quick to defend Alma and make it sound like the idea of holding her accountable for her crimes is cruel and unusual punishment! It drives me crazier that Elena would use the idea as a bargaining chip to blackmail Angel into being nice to big sis!!! Seriously?? How could anyone in their right mind look at the daughter whose sister just stole her husband and reprimand her, telling her to play nice and stay away from REBECA'S husband!!! He's not her husband, he's her victim!!! I mean I don't like JE and I'm not defending him, but anyone with the slightest bit of feeling for anyone in this scenario could see that that marriage can and should be annulled. It's not even a marriage. They ceremony was five minutes ago, forced, not consummated; the paperwork might not even be filled yet. Oh well, JE earned that mess, it's just annoying that Elena has 0 concern for Angel. Rebeca is jealous because Elena supposedly loves Angel more but that's clearly not true.

I find Fatima annoying. Yes, Romina is an obstacle, but it's the same obstacle that has been there for weeks. Nothing changed overnight, except Romina crashing unwanted (by Luciano) at the hacienda. Why break up with Luciano now? I mean I can make a great argument for never starting the relationship in the first place, ie. wait til the divorce papers are signed; but since she was okay with it then why give up now??? It makes her seem wishy washy.

That said, I'm always amazed at characters like Romina who leave and/or totally treat their husbands like dirt to begin with and still have the bravado to proclaim to the world that they WILL recover their relationship when they suddenly decide they want them back for whatever reason!!! I wonder if there really are people like that in real life with that much misplaced confidence?? To really think you can abandon your family and your husband for a job, demand a divorce, mock any attempt at actual connection by said husband or kids and then come back a few months later and expect to be received with open arms!!!

Well, back to work I suppose. It's a little slower, less stressful today, but I'm still waiting to hear what's next in getting my computer actually fixed!!! I have a lot of meetings and stuff coming up at the beginning of next month and I really need these issues resolved!
