FUGITIVAS #23 Part 1

Alejandro’s interview continues as she asks him if he thinks Lorena is innocent. Yes, is the unequivocal response. He does not have kind remarks about Arturo.

Speaking of, always irate Arturo asks Ismael if Lorena was his amante. When he admits it, Arturo explodes saying she is the assassin of Juan Pablo his good friend. Arturo blames Ismael for his daughter’s broken heart. Arturo natters on about his daughter being from a prestigious family etc. Ismael asks Arturo not to get in the middle of his and Florencia’s problems (far too late for that I add cynically). Ismael has heard enough and asks Arturo to leave.

Ismael goes into the bedroom, turns on the TV and sees Alejandro being interviewed…

The girls are discussing their situation; Montse continuing to be unhappy but she finally takes Lorena’s hand. One for all and all for one.

Sergio approaches Carmen and she gives him the money. She starts to leave and he pulls her back, starting to hug her pulling her along with him.

Erick enjoyed being present during the interview and was impressed with Alejandro; “bro” fist bumps follow.

Sergio brings Carmen back to his cruddy apartment. He puts her on the bed and they start kissing; it should be noted she is a willing participant.

Gabriela watches the video as Vero comes in and dumps a pile of work on her. She taunts her again about her sister being a killer.

Marta brings up Estefania with the girls and is afraid she will be unmasked for pointing her finger at her. They take great delight in affectionately teasing her about Commander Rojas. Montse takes Marta’s cell and texts him. When he calls her, Montse puts the call on speaker as the girls smile at Marta. I believe she agrees to see him the next day. Si, esta bien. The girls jump up and down but Marta looks a little bit happy.

Afterglow? Afterburn? Round 2 with Carmen and Sergio commences..

OMG, Flor is STILL in bed, moping. She calls Ismael he picks up the phone and then puts her to voice mail. She asks him to meet to talk.

FUGITIVAS #23 Part 2

Sergio and Carmen are in front of a building kissing (as Carmen looks around nervously) when Erick walks by. She sees him and he gives her the I’m watching you sign. She hurries after him.

Montse teases Lorena about Alejandro; it is clear Ismael is not a favorite.

Carmen comes home (finally) with Dario fretting about the money. Carmen spins some yarn (was it something about her sister?? I couldn’t decipher it).

Lorena texts Alejandro and he gets the slight smitten smile he always seems to wear when he hears from her.

Erick gives Lisset an appreciative look later at the bar, then greets Lorena…

Ole sour puss Arturo watching the news then calling Horacio (his lawyer?) complaining about Alejandro.

Carmen tries to talk with Erick as Lorena watches from the background. Lorena points the conversation out to Lisset. Erick tells Carmen he won’t say anything.

Lisset serves Arturo juice as wonder of wonders Florencia shows up at the table, fully dressed. Vincente arrives and Arturo’s mood sours further (if that is possible). Arturo asks Vincente if Lorena has contacted Gabriela. Vincente and Arturo get into another ugly argument as fed up Flor says basta.

Brenda calls Alejandro: he is pleasant but ends the call with calling her Detective Rojas much to her dismay.

Dario and Carmen argue.

Florencia goes to talk with Vincente. For some reason, he decides to impart some monumental news that his father never respected his mother. He tells Flor he caught Arturo in an indelicate situation with Victoria, his assistant.

FUGITIVAS #23 Part 3 of 3

Ester Suarez sees Marta from afar and says “Marta?” to herself. (I only know the character’s name as she is being played by the marvelous Ana Patricio Rojo) Marta greets Rosario ready for the day.

It’s payday and I believe Dario asks the women for identification (again).

Brenda is openly hostile to Alejandro, bringing him into Ismael’s office where Patricio is too. Where is Lorena Ismael asks Alejandro. Brenda starts yelling and finally, I believe Ismael indicates he might charge Alejandro with obstruction. Brenda is too emotional and Patricio wisely leads her out of the room. Ale and Ismael exchange death stares.

Nicolas and Vero meet and Vero spills Florencia and Ismael are having problems. He pretends to be surprised and pumps her for details. She kisses him as he processes what she tells him.

Ismael and Alejandro continue their talk which turns to the Marquez’ family. As Ale leaves the office, Brenda pulls him back and reams him out, then she asks where Lorena is! Lorena is innocent he says. They stare and then he walks off.

Lorena and Lisset talk; Lorena has her backpack, preparing to take off somewhere (can anyone kindly tell me where that might be?) as Lisset wishes her good luck.

Vincente is packing – dare we hope he will actually leave the next day as he says he is? Lisset talks about Lorena and her situation, whatever she tells him seems to be sinking in.

Lorena meets Alejandro at his door. They start strategizing when the doorbell rings. Oh no, it’s Arturo.

Flor shows up at Ismal’s office. She begs him to forgive her. But forgiveness isn’t uppermost in his mind. He stares at her intently and asks her point blank if she had anything to do with Juan Pablo’s death!!

The girls convince Montse not to turn herself in because Dario would the see her picture and realize the rest of them are Fugitivas.

Carmen says she had to use the money for an emergency Medical issue with her sister. She did make a valid point that she works in the business and has a right to the money. She is mad because he just wants it to give the girls a raise.

Stupid Lorena has to go see Antonio in person to thank him....

Arturo and his lawyer want to charge Antonio with defamation.

I appreciate your confirming Carmen spun the yarn of taking the money to help her sister.

Lorena can't seem to stay away from Alejandro, can she? :)

Now that Arturo is going after Ale, perhaps that will give Vincente a break!!

I fear the writers are teasing us with scenes of Vincente packing but not leaving. :(

I am starting to think that annoying Vero killed JP. Maybe she found out that he was bunny hopping with Flor. Now she is throwing herself at nasty , sneaky Nick, who is obsessed with Flor. What's going to happen when Vero discovers that Flor is the object of Nick,'s desires, just like JP?i

Lorena is supposedly in love with Ish , but she keeps seeking out Ale.

It is nice to see Marta finally in a job she likes and getting some support from the kind owner . I guess a PSA on domestic violence .

I wonder who this new woman who recognized Marta. I hope she is a good character who will help and not harm kind Marta. Susan
 

Juana #18 part 1

Juana sees the magazine cover David is reading. She gets upset and starts pulling them off the shelf. David asks if she’s pregnant. She says she is but obviously it wasn’t a miracle.

Paula’s mom asks her about the pregnant woman and Paula tells her Gabriel isn’t looking for her anymore. Her mother thinks that’s great but wonders why she’s sad. She tells her Gabriel asked for a divorce. Her mom tells her to be calm, all marriages go through problems. Paula asks if her dad ever asked for a divorce, she kind of jumps to a conclusion and then her mom wonders what she’s trying to say about her dad. She tells her nothing and then tells her about taking birth control pills. It seems like she was originally supposed to bear the child. She blew that! Mom tells her to throw Camila out of the house. Paula tells her she already has asked her to leave.

Dani leaves Felipe with Enriqueta. He mentions the elevator. She says it’s working perfectly.

Susana tells Gabriel the publicity event on Sunday is canceled. Gabriel doesn’t understand why and walks off.

Jenny and Salvador are both feeling the energy. He says in marital arts they use the energy of the other. They are ready to kiss.

Felipe is still with Enriqueta. They talk about Juana. She mentions the rumors, Felipe didn’t know about them. He hasn’t forgotten the kiss in the elevator. She shows him the door. Carlos notices and remembers what he saw.

Jenny and Salvador are still close until he says dear and love. She calls him sick and obstinate. He tells her she wants a man that will abandon her.

David wonders why Juana didn’t tell him she was pregnant. He’s bothered because he was interested in her and she should have told him. He asks if Gabriel knew. He gives her the drinks and leaves her.

Gabriel is looking out the window when Carlos comes in. Gabriel says his dad taught him the business there and all the employees names. Carlos mentions Paula. Apparently this is the first job she ever had. Gabriel tells him Paula saw her in a compromising position with Rogelio. Carlos once again says he’s never trusted Rogelio. Gabriel thinks that his father giving him the shares made it ok. Carlos compares Gabriel to his dad. But he will never trust Rogelio. And he has Camila there for a reason. He mentions Rogelio will have two votes, he and Camila seem to each have one. That doesn’t make sense to me.

Reny approaches Paula and asks if she remembers him. She obviously does. He mentions how far she has come from the old neighborhood. She asks him to lower his voice. Apparently she left the neighborhood after her dad died, her brother’s in jail and something about her poor mom. She leaves and goes to her office-upset and worried.

Paula tells her mom nothing happened between her and Camila. Wants to know what happened. Paula just tells her she was in her life too much. She tells her mom to get Gabriel back she will give him a family with Nicholas.

Camilla is upset with Rogelio. He tells her they’ll be the kings of the business. She tells him they have to be more careful.

Jenny is walking home, Salvador wants her to get in the car, it’s too far for her to walk.

Felipe walks into work upset because Enriqueta treated him as if they never kissed

In a meeting Gabriel says Astro has started a violent campaign against them. Gabriel says if they want war they’ll get it.

Back at the garage, other guy gives Felipe a small envelope and keys. Yardia runs in to show him the magazine.

David and Juana return to the office. He asks her to forgive him. Juana shows Dani the magazine. Susana tells David the whole team is needed in a meeting.

Salvador brings Jenny home. He says she never said a word in the car and left the bear. Josefina gives Salvador a pep talk and tells him Jenny is off tomorrow and invites him to dinner.

Paula and her mom arrive at the church. The priest brings Nicholas to them. Her mom is upset with Paula. She introduces Nicholas and her mom. He asks if she’ll be his grandmother and gives her a hug.

At the meeting everyone agrees the add is bad. Gabriel needs them to work and come up with a creative idea. They’re not violent or gross.

Paula wants to have a birthday party for Nicholas at her house. All the orphans and their sponsors will be invited. The priest doesn’t think it will be a good idea but Paula says they can raise money for the orphanage.

Juana part 1 observations

Liz, I had to laugh at marital arts (martial) between Jenny and Salvador. I think you are foreshadowing their eventual marriage. Salvador certainly has her number. I thought Josefina suggested he take Jenny out to dinner on her day off, but Josefina inviting him makes much more sense.

 

Juana #18 part 2

Jenny and Felipe are talking about the magazine. They try to hide it from Josefina.

Gabriel was hard on Juana. The team are whispering after he leaves.

Josefina is upset over the magazine.

Juana dumps the magazine in the trash at her desk and gets to work. Meanwhile Carlos tells Gabriel he was hard on Juana.

Salvador gets to work and tells his young partner the date was bad. He has the bear with him.

David brings two adds to Gabriel. He likes the add talking about beer and friendships

A couple of neighborhood ladies show Josefina the magazine. Memo comes over and sends them away.

David tells Gabriel finances thinks the beer will sell well The clients will be happy. David then tells Gabriel about the magazine article. He is upset that he loves a girl who is pregnant by another man. Gabriel tells him he doesn’t know the circumstances And adds that Juana is a good worker.

Paula thinks the adoption will save her marriage. Her mother disagrees.

Memo walks Josefina home. He tells her she’s a good woman that always cared for her family. But who takes care of her? He would like to.

Dani tells David not to tell anyone about the magazine. He says he never would(but didn’t he just share with Gabriel). He sits down with Juana.

Camila asks Inez for the PI’s contact info. Inez doesn’t have it. She looks for Gabriel then sits at Juana’s computer and looks through the drawings. She finds the magazine in the trash

David tells Juana that Gabriel chose her add. He apologizes again and tells her Gabriel knows about the magazine.

Gabriel apologizes to Juana, she tells him she needs to get to work.

Camila is in Gabriel’s office. She shows him the magazine, she’s figured everything out and wants to know if Juana knows.

The team applauds Juana when she enters.

Gabriel asks Camila not to say anything. She kisses him.

When I rewatch I always do 30 minutes and then the next 30. Not sure how that first part got so long!

Kat, I should put a disclaimer as I might not always get it right! Josefina will get Jenny with Salvador eventually! The beer stuff is confusing but it seems like Astro is their competition.

I’ll watch the second half tonight and get the recap up tomorrow morning. It will be number 19.

Juana # 19. Part 1. Second half of Thursday

We once again see the kiss.

Rogelio and Paula talk as she confronts him with what he did. He tells her not to talk to her father like that. She reminds him he cheated on his mother. He compares their marriages as he tells her he’s staying with a woman he doesn’t love for his children. Much like her husband might not love her. History repeating itself.

Gabriel pushes Paula away. She says Paula doesn’t deserve him. They are in the same situation. She tells Gabriel that Paula didn’t try to have his child. She then leaves the magazine in the cafeteria.

Salvador looks at the bear talks to it, then hugs the bear. He will see a woman tomorrow. He leaves work.

Jenny is at work. Ricardo mentions the amount or size of the drinks. She says the more they drink the bigger the tip. Opens the bill folder and hugs him. He asks her out.

Felipe and Josefina hi Felipe and Josefina are having breakfast. Josefina hides the magazine when Juana comes in. She tells the they’re using her idea in the campaign. Josefina says Jenny had a romantic date with the detective, Salvador Castillo. She’s sure he’ll be the love of his life. Juana feels they’re all have same luck, to have children young and without a man at their side.

Paula is having dinner, Camila comes in, then Gabriel. He sits down to eat. Camila thanks them for opening their doors to her. They women get in an argument. First about Camila and Rogelio. Then Camila mentions something in Paula’s marriage. Camila says she’ll leave her with doubts and leaves the table. Paula tells Gabriel her mom was right about Camila, she asks Gabriel if he knows what Camila was referring to. He wisely answers he has no idea.

Rogelio, Manuel and mom are having dinner. Rogelio thinks Paulabis crazy to adopt to save her marriage. Manuel is surprised about the marriage. He blames Gabriel. Rogelio says she deserves better. Rogelio mentions the company is about to collapse. He tells his wife to convince Paula not to leave the marriage. After dinner his wife overhears him leaving a message for Camila. She’s upset.

Gabriel is helping Camila with her suitcases. She hopes what happened won’t affect their relationship. He say’s nothing happened. He wants their working relationship to be fine.

Rogelio’s wife tells him off. Does it make him feel young. He’s pathetic He tells her if she doesn’t like it she can leave.

The workers find the magazine. They making fun of Juana and her miracle. Should they put an alter in the office

Carlos and Gabriel talk. Gabriel doesn’t trust Camila, who knows everything. He also tells Carlos Juana is in love with him. Carlos wonders how he feels. He asked Paula for a divorce and Juana is impotent to him.

The workers are still talking about Juana. Enriqueta comes in. Dani sees the magazine and pictures they drew. As she’s telling them off Juana appears.

Juana # 19 part 2

David tells the workers Juana needs to tell them something. She tells them she’s pregnant, the dad is not around and the neighborhood made up the story. Davis says they’re here to work, Juana is good at her job and let’s get to work.

Inez approaches Josefina. She’s been waiting 45 minutes. Inez tells her she has to make an appointment a week in advance. Josefina says he makes beer and Inez tells her he’s very busy. Josefina doesn’t back down.

There’s a small meeting about the beer sales and distribution. Manuel, Carlos, Enriqueta and Gabriel. Manuel mentions his dad but he is busy talking with the Astro people.

Enriqueta tells Gabriel about the magazine in the cafeteria that the workers found. Inez interrupts to tell him Josefina Bravo is here to see him. Gabriel tells them it’s Juana’s grandmother.

Felipe mentions Jenny’s date with the detective. Jenny laughs. He says he’s strange and knows nothing of her but he thinks he does. Felipe thinks the truth can hurt.

Juana shows David what she’s working on David tells her he had nothing to do with the magazine. She says it had been in her trash can. She feels calmer now that everyone knows.

Josefina looks around the office, the wife’s picture. Gabriel comes in and she accuses him of playing with Juana’s feelings. Where would she fit in this world? He tells her he asked his wife for a divorce. He doesn’t know what will happen between him and Juana but he has strong feelings. They’re maintaining their distance. Juana is the most important thing in his life. Josefina knows his type. Leave them in peace.

Rogelio brings Camila to her new apartment. He says it’s not more luxurious because he wanted people to think she was in an apartment she could afford. She’s not happy, she wants him to take her seriously, she’s not like him. But he’s going to take what he wants and starts kissing her. She looks miserable.

Salvador talks with the female lawyer. He’s questioning her about the shares. Was she there to see Francisco signed? He mentions you can get the papers off the internet. And she’s Rogelio’s lawyer. He’s the best cop in telenovela history!

Paula calls her mom to tell her Camila is gone. The mom tells her what she heard Rogelio saying in a phone message. If she leaves she’ll be out in the street.

Juana is heading to a meeting with Inez and David when Josefina grabs her and tells her she doesn’t belong here.

David tells Gabriel that Josefina was acting strange. Gabriel goes out of his office.

Josefina and Juana are talking. Juana says this is her job. Juana says she always interfered in Jenny’s life too. Josefina tells her Gabriel said she was the most important thing in his life. Juana is really surprised. And Camila is hiding and listening. Gabriel comes and tells them they’re shouting. Josefina leaves. Juana walks off. Camila approaches Gabriel. She tells him to let her go, is he going with her. It looks that way.

Paula’s mom tells Paula her dad abandoned her.

Manual tells his dad he knows about Camila. Rogelio just smiles and laughs. Manuel tells his dad he won’t help him with this beer business. Rogelio tells him not to threaten him. Gabriel and team are having a big event. Rogelio plans to put a bacteria in the beer.

Gabriel catches up with her. He wants to live with her, care for her and protect her.

Liz, thanks. Camila really is an unhappy mistress to Rogelio. It's like he feeds off her distaste of him. I didn't catch the significance of the modest apartment. Thanks for the clarification.

Loved your take on the detective. I guess the only thing we can fault him on is the blood on the bridge supposedly being from an animal. But that would be on the lab, not him. I guess Rog paid someone off in that investigation.

A bit more on Jenny and Felipe's talk. She complained that the detective claimed she looks for guys that will abandon her like her father and Juana's father. Felipe kinda calls her on it and says he has a valid point.

I think Jenny's boss commented on the clients buying the most expensive drinks. Not sure why he would bring it up. She says the higher the bill the better the tip, looks at what they gave her and exuberantly hugs him.

Gabriel really needs to tell Juana the truth, especially now Camila is in on the secret.

Hope Manuel is so disgusted with his father's treatment of his mother that he turns on him. I still don't get how tanking the brewery will help Rog. It's like he wants to bite off his nose to spite his face.,.

Looks like Paula, her mother, and Camila are all cut from the same shallow , conniving cloth. Years ago, the actress playing Paula's notes was playing Camila's role. I want to know more about Camila's background and how she ended up with Francisco.

I feel sorry for The poor orphan Paula is using to try to hold onto Gabriel .

Thanks Kat and Susan. Kat, I haven’t figured out why Rogelio wants to ruin the brewery either. He seems to have plenty of shares but I guess he wants them all. I wonder if he’s working with the Astro company. And yes, the detective does know Jenny, Juana called it the family bad luck or something.

Susan, I have a feeling that through the detective and Remo, the guy from her barrio, we’ll find out eventually. I cringe every time adoption or Nicholas is mentioned. In my imagination Gabriel and Juana take him in. He can’t just be left in the orphanage. I also wonder if Paula got pregnant from the other model. She can’t pass it off as Gabriel’s, unless she gets him drunk. Which has been done before!

Liz, if Paula gets pregnant it can't be Gabriel's. He is sterile from his cancer or treatments. That is why he is so desperate for this baby. It was conceived with the last of his frozen sperm.

Thanks Kat, I must have had a senior moment! I knew that but was thinking of her using birth control pills for most of his artificial insemination treatments. Figured when he got the surrogate she stopped the pills. So it would be something if she did get pregnant from that guy. Gabriel would have something to wonder about.
