.
I miss the first minute of this but came into Hulya yelling at the authorities for taking all her stuff out of the house. It ends with one cop being a bit rough with Seher and a vase fell. Or maybe Yusuf’s urn? Sehet is very upset and crying for her son. Devin and Aslan are with Leyla’s kids, assuring them that she’ll be out of jail soon. He promises them this and Devin doesn’t look happy about this promise. And she’s not. But not to worry, he tells her, because he apparently has a plan.
.
One of the workers brings a package that has arrived for Hulya. She yells to gather everyone but doesn’t open the box. What is it??? We all want to know.
.
Lawyer has a mole in the jail, Tansu, who tells her that Hulya talked to Leyla’s roomie and this doesn’t sound good for Leyla.
.
Cihan meets with Ibo. He shows Ibo the pic of his guys at the Tolga murder site. Cihan blackmails Ibo for money, but Ibo, not really understanding how blackmail works, wants something from Cihan. Ibo wants to contact Ilyas. Whatever the details were, Cihan agrees. And again it’s clear that Aslan should rethink this whole “bring the family together thing”.
.
Aslan and Devin are in a park with the kids getting lunch, and even the casual lunch place has food that looks amazing. Isko sends Aslan a text while they are there, and Aslan tells the kids he has a surprise for them!
.
Leyla gets a package. A phone with the center cut out to hide a phone. She connects with Aslan, cries about missing her kids, and he puts them on speaker to talk to their mother. Zeynap, who is much less snotty than she used to be, assures her mom that they are behaving and they miss her. Aslan tells her they’ll have her out soon, btu she needs to keep a low profile in the meantime, and don’t use the phone too much. Bets on how long it will take for the phone to get her into trouble?
.
Hulya opens the box and it’s a ticket to go see her SIL, Nedret. Hulya is not happy about this gift.
.
It took one minute for the phone to cause problems. Melek gives Leyla crap about it and starts a fight that the other women break up. At fist I thought this was Tansu, but it seems Melek has been bought off? Leyla is confused.
.
A mob of women surround Nedret and thank her for something?, while her daughter shoos them away. Then she gets a call from “Witch” (ha! Good one, Nedret). Guess who it is? Hulya is ticked about the ticket but Nedret wants her to come in person. Seems she started a charity and this is where she is now, but Hulya isn’t impressed. There is some angry back and forth. Then Nedret says she sacrificed 40 animals for the 40 years Hulya took from her, and Hulya’s fate will be as dark as Nedret’s. (I look forward to finding out what the background here is). After the call, Seher enters the dining room chattering that someone cursed the family and needs to be found. Hulya loses it and demands to know where the curse (?) while beating up the furniture that’s left. Seher is confused.

Monday, pt. 2 of 3
.
Aslan talks on the phone to Turgut, who tells him all went well with Zansar. This might be the guy who is going to confess to killing Tolga to get Leyla out of jail. She should be out tomorrow! Yay! But the music says it won’t happen. Aslan is happy but trying to maintain his cool for the kids. But Devin goes to him and he tells her this good news. Meanwhile, Eko is going to meet his new bride tonight at the club. (eye roll).
.
Aslan and Devin talk and he asks her how long she’s going to pretend she doesn’t love him. She tells him to stop but he keeps on talking, while reaching out to her. But she shuts him down and wants to go home. You know, cause of the kids. Sad Aslan.
.
Ilyas and Serap are having dinner and he shows her a pic. Of Tolga’s murder? He’s angry and calls someone in the pic a traitor. (Cihan or Ibo?) He demands to know about the pic, and to not lie to him. He says if she lies, he’ll know she has chosen the other man (Cihan?? Ibo???) over her own father. She says, yes, she’s in love with him. Ilyas looked shocked but then Serap laughs and walks over to him. He’s the only love of her life and someday she hopes that he’ll love her back. He tells her the traitor has to die and she offers to take care of it. Sorry I didn’t get details of this, but it’s an icky scene. Why is HE the only love of her life? Blech. And also, while I’m asking questions, do all Turkish women wear cropped shirts this often? Both she and Devin are donning the crop top. I mean, I would too if I looked like that, but is this reality fashion or novela-fashion?
.
Aslan is all upset about being turned down by Devin. He looks at the kids, asleep in the back of the car, and tells Devin about the three siblings- him, Cihan, and Leyla- falling asleep in the back of their father’s car. They were happy there because their home was hell. One day he came home covered in blood, one day to tell them someone died, he’d leave for months, if he stayed home there were problems with fights and abuse. He gives her more story about their upbringing and that they were told “half of the problems is their fault and half was the day. Someone else will have to explain this but I think the bottom line is Leyla should have burned that Yusuf pic a long time ago. Aslan remembers the love of the three siblings. Devin suggests he find his future happiness in another home. Leyla managed it, he should too. Wise advice.
.
Some woman comes up on a scooter to the restaurant where Eko is and it’s Elif, his future bride. She takes off her helmet and looks a lot like Serap. And just then Eko sees Yagmur taking pics of the restaurant and he stares at her. She sees him and stares. Elif can see all this because her helmet is off so maybe Eko should have been a little more subtle.

Monday, pt. 3 of 3
.
Yagmur’s boss/fake boyfriend comes up to her and she asks if they can leave. She wishes him a good evening as she leaves. Elif says he seems like he’s still good friends with his ex-girlfriend. He’s like, what? Girlfriend? No, she’s a friend of Aslan’s. But Elif is not an idiot and tells him they both now why they are here and he needs to be honest. So he is. Side note- Elif is the first person here who wears a head scarf covering all the hair. Is this a symbol of something in a novela, like she’s from his hometown and not this area or is going to be more conservative, or is this just life in Turkey? She seemed pretty chill about the Yagmur thing.
.
Aslan gets to the ranch and finds everyone gone and stuff destroyed. Hulya is outside sitting. She tells Aslan that she did this. She also fired everyone. The house is cursed and they are all doomed. Seher is in the background yelling about the curse. Devin gets there and sees the damage and has flashbacks to the Cihan shooting. She finds Hulya, but Aslan has disappeared. Hulya telle her she wanted to drive her crazy but seems they’ll both go crazy. Then Aslan comes back to comfort her.
.
Aslan later asks Hulya what the heck she was thinking, but she gets mad that they took everything and he wasn’t there. She tells him if his wife can call the police on her, if Nedret can call her in her house, then she can do whatever she wants to the house. She also says she’s the boss of this house and can do whatever she wants to it. Aslan finally tells her that everyone in the house was miserable and she will be too when she’s all alone trying to make it a happy place. He lets her have it, finally!
.
Back at Cihan’s place, Serap has come over and put something in a glass that he left out. But he’s wise to her, pretty sure.
.
Hulya calls Melek. Uh oh.
.
Serap pours herself a drink and downs it. Cihan was about to drink his but stops to note how thirsty she must be. She pours herself another. He’s about to drink for real but then asks her something that I can’t remember. She swipes the glass out of his hand. He says he would drink the poison for her. The bottom line here is that he tells her that Ilyas is not a good person, the Soykan have a secret slush fund that he’ll use to fund the neighborhood, and he wants half the profits of ? so he can get some furniture because she’d never marry someone without furniture. Something like that. Cihan seems happy but Serap is going to need some therapy before this happen though, preferably from someone not Devin.
.
Leyla is packing and the kids are outside waiting to see her. One of the women is being nice to her but Melek pulls out a knife and attacks her in a hall. Melek apologizes for this but has to do it, and she stabs Leyla. (I am not happy about this and I hope Aslan finds out and finishes what Leyla started by burning the house down with Hulya in it).
.
Sorry about the lack of details but I’m losing the thread of this show. Just when I get everyone’s name and position in the family, a whole bunch of new faces show up!
.

K, I always enjoy your recaps. When in doubt make up a story that fits the acting/scenery. I finally caught up with this yesterday. By watching the delayed showing I get the recaps ahead of time, and English CC. Last night I had neither so I can't add much.

One thing I noticed, they didn't take everything. I thought Aslan had the first payment so their furnishings should have been safe. It was a vase. Grandma was wailing it was a gift from her son. Since they left quite a few cases behind on the mantle for Hulya to swipe with the fire poker, it obviously was more about upsetting grandma than actually taking the vase.

I get very creepy feelings with Ilyas and Scrap. I wonder if her violator wore a mask and it really was her father but he brainwashed her to believe it was someone else. Of course if he knows about her rape I would have thought that person would have been killed long ago. Also I would think if it was dear old dad it would have been a continuing abuse, not just once. All to say, this TN keeps us guessing.

When Aslan came into the ransacked house, followed by Devin, all I could think was, who is tending the children that should have been woken up from the car and sent to bed.

Did anyone notice if all the cars had been repossessed except for the ones not on the premises when the government showed up?

"VENGANZA" HIGHLIGHTS DISCUSSION
Kat in SC: Looking forward to seeing your recap of last night's episode. Doubling-down on Ana relapsing & going back to the so-called clinic of horrors. Let's be honest: Ana is the ONLY person I am interested in watching this Telenovela.

Venganza #38

I'm getting tired of this show. This is the cliff notes version. I watched on my phone so no notes taken during the show. It will be only what I recall.

Brenda is back in the living arms of her parents. Alfredo is pissed at Gabriel at more or less causing the miscarriage and her demands for a divorce. I think he plans to kill the parents, then Brenda, so Gabriel is the heir to her fortune. Gabriel has a lot of guilt over the deaths of his brothers in law and is against this plan.

Mirna is still being traumatized by Eugenio. He is insisting to her that his child with Fernanda is dead though she knows otherwise. Is this gaslighting?

Claudia's misfortune will be lumped together. She is suffering from withdrawal and needs her fix. Fernanda recognizes her symptoms of addiction. (Fernanda, herself, has somehow acquired $500 in cash to buy some drugs from Miguel I'm sure for the purpose of drugging Ana.) Claudia fights with Pati and says she is moving out, going back to stay with Erika. Poor Erika and Fermin. Evening comes and she is back at the hell hole. Looks like Miguel is cutting her off from the drugs, I don't understand why. She isn't going to cooperate in the prostitution without them... At any rate she earns a brutal beating in the face although we only see the punches thrown and not them landing. Also fortunately not much damage is visible except a bloody nose. But this seems to have knocked some sense into her and she is all set to report him to the police. Not so fast. Your family will suffer if you report me.

Now to the interactions with Roberto who is still recuperating in the del Pino home, in his and Elisa's bed. Sebastian wants to know what happened to Monica when he was in LA. Roberto points out he was at the hospital at that time. I couldn't recall if he knew anything. Well his next conversation with Elisa solves that memory lapse. He knows since she told him about it. Elisa still has her doubts about keeping the truth from Sebastian. It looks like Sebas and Moni are in a hotel till their apartment is ready. Roberto plays the wounded lover again trying to get Elisa back. They kiss, but that is all. Gabriel and Alfredo have discovered the discrepancies in his bookkeeping. Roberto tells him the cash was authorized by Fernanda whom he gave it to.

Baby is awake. I guess this will be in 2 parts if I get back to it later.

Gracias, K. Fine job.

OMG, I can't believe they're going to kill off Leyla. She's been such a fighter in starting a new life.

fam2

Many thanks, K., for doing this fine recap in spite of the episode's total chaos. I really appreciated your admission that you're losing the thread of the show. I thought I was the only one. (Though perhaps the ones who have lost it most are the writers.)

The business with the furniture being repossessed (?) made no sense to me. And split personality Hulya can go off the deep end smashing what's left of her possessions and, at the same time, have the cold-blodded presence of mind to arrange for her own daughter to be stabbed, perhaps killed.

I'm not at all sure how Elif knew that Yagmur was Eko's ex-girlfriend.

Perhaps I'm not remembering this correctly, but I thought that the photo Ilyas showed Serap was of some guy in what looked like the back seat of a car. He seemed to be looking out the car window, but I didn't get a good view. It went by very fast. I have no idea who the guy is nor why Ilyas says he's a traitor who must die.

I'm used to being confused in the opening days of a telenovela/dizi, but I can't recall any time when I've still been confused this far along.

fam2

Juanita, I thought Ilyas's "traitor who must die" is Cihan, who Ilyas knows is dealing with Ibo. But I don't remember what was shown in Ilyas's photo.

fam2

Thanks for the recap, K. I,too, have wondered about the crop tops on the women, and many times it seems inappropriate. Must be those city girls! The traditional girls from countryside dress very conservatively.
Did the Cihan-Serap "romance" come out of left field for any of you? Did I miss a crucial 5 minutes in the last week or so?

Poor Aslan, he is miserable without dumb Devlin.
Surely Leyla will survive. Her kids need her.
Yeah, the truth about Soykan family life is being revealed. Ugly secrets.

@HalimaCandy: Just now, after reading your message about your missing comment, I went to look for it, but I didn't find it. I even looked at the comments by "Unknown," since sometimes you post without being recognized by the Blogger program, but I had no luck.

Halimacandy, I saw the comment when it was posted so it was there for a while. I'll check back on older posts.

Thank you, K, for providing another entertaining Monday recap.

Unfortunately, I have zero time to check the Turkish ep. I get the feeling they edited out some helpful scenes/dialog.

Hulya has promised to set up Melek’s mom and daughter in a nice new house. Not sure what Melek is supposed to do to prevent Leyla from getting out, but I can't believe Hulya wants her killed. If that is the case, I hope Hulya dies an awful death.

“…she gets a call from “Witch” (ha! Good one, Nedret)”. Nedret has Hulya’s contact info under “Acuze”. A better translation is “hag”. I like it.

No idea why they were so quick to raid the Soykan estate. Or why they left some things in the house.

Ilyas had a picture of Cihan meeting with Ibo and took it as proof Cihan is a traitor.

Juanita, maybe Elif was told Eko has an ex-girlfriend. When she saw the interaction between Eko and Yagmur, she probably guessed that was the ex. I think Eko was pleasantly surprised when he first saw Elif. Is she enough to make him forget Yagmur?

Beth S, I think they’ve been hinting a possible romance for Serap and Cihan from the beginning. The actors have good flirty chemistry. There was an edited scene where they both tried to get into the driver’s seat of a car.
Remember Ilyas cut Cihan’s hand because he didn’t like the way Cihan looked at Serap.

fam2

Hulya: Nothing is more important than this sacred house and it shall be protected at all costs with all the stuff in it remaining exactly as it is.

Also Hulya: This place is cursed and must be destroyed.

I don't get it. The house is cursed so let it be reposed or burn it down. I don't see the problem. Maybe take out those turquoise tiles on the Yusuf wall because those are pretty and could be reused. Unless that's where the curse is and then destroy those too. Start over with the whole family in a new, non-cursed house and let the bank take possession of the evil house. Everyone wins (except the house's new owners).

Cihan seems to have been making googly eyes at Serap for some time, but he's kept his distance out of maybe respect for her issues or mistrust. Maybe both? He certainly seems to have her number based on him knowing that she'd poison him, unless he saw something else that got edited out. Sorry but I can't do the Dondi thing and watch the Turkish version for all the edited scenes. I'm not sure my brain could handle that right now.

Leyla better survive tonight or I'm going to be placing my own curses, but without all Nedret's animal killing because that's just wasteful and gross.

K

Another clever and interesting recap, K. ITA on so many things you wrote. Yes, it's nice to see Zeynep's snotty meter descending. Pretty sure the kid is going to be all right post Hulya.

Laughed out loud at "ticked about the ticket". Nice one. I too am dying to know how Hulya ruined Nedret's life for 40 years. Nedret knew exactly where to stick the knife, Hulya has to fly to Adana and eat some crow for Aslan to get that partnership and money he needs to save the Soylans' bacon. But, last Viewerville heard from Nedret, the deal is off.

Hmmm. Elif is shown both riding a motorbike and wearing a hijab. She seems very nice. I can't really tell if the writers are giving Eko such a nice woman as the end for the Yagmur/Eko romance or whether this nice, perceptive woman will catch on she's a revenge bride and let him go.

Yes, Ilyas' fatherly love is creepy to the max.

Cihan did seem to know about Serap putting something in his drink. But as soon as he openly began to tell her about his meeting with Ibo, she realized he wasn't necessarily a traitor and slapped it out of his hand. I can see these two ending up together, both equally damaged. Maybe with Devin's couples' therapy?

Yes, surely Leyla has to survive. I can't think of a supporting character in a TN/dizi I've been so fond of and wanted a good life for. I actually was in bed thinking about Hulya having set this up and felt disturbed, trying to think about puppies and babies to erase the image. Will there be a reveal that she didn't actually order her own child's death to keep her grandchildren? If that's what she did, I'm with K. Let her burn up in that house of horrors. It's possible Hulya just wanted the woman to harass Leyla and set it up before Aslan arranged for her release. And maybe the woman, obviously a disturbed person, went too far.

fam2
novelera - puppies and babies - lol. Hulya would eat them to get her way. :(
dondi, K - I have been seeing the Cihan/Serap thing develop but seemed to have a sudden onset. Guess it was too subtle and weird for me. They don't talk about anything other than "work" and how Cihan outsmarted her attempts to poison him. A fine romance!

#38 – Justicia Poética – Part 1 of 3

We see that Hulya is only 90% as bad as I thought. Melek was instructed to frame Leyla in return for a home for her mother and child.

Aslan gets a call from a guy named Ridvan that the shipment is ready. [At first, I was confused (and not for the first time in this one) about what was arriving.] Then I put it together: the money to pay for the first installment of the fine he owes on the marina. Turgut tells Aslan he doesn’t need to be on deck for each “voyage”, and they could handle it. Also, Turgut is not impressed with Ridvan.

Cagri calls Aslan to tell him that Leyla’s release is held up, a problem with another prisoner. Aslan skips going to meet the boat and heads for the prison.

An ambulance arrives at the prison. Devin, Cemre, Zeynep and Kaya are waiting there to greet Leyla.

Serap’s spy calls her to say that there was a lot of blood, and she was taken to the hospital.

Aslan has arrived and asks Cemre to take the kids away. He sends Turgut and Iskoc to the port. Speaking of that voyage, we see Ridvan and some other guys being approached by a boat in distress, one with a curvy blonde up front. We see Cihan and his crew hiding below. Cihan says that no one will be killed, only shot in the legs or feet. And they need to leave one of them well enough to dock the boat.

Salih comes, smiling, to say that Cihan kept his word. Ilyas looks like he’d rather Cihan had failed so as to be able to kill him. Salih says everything is ready in the neighborhood.

The employees at the marina are upset. They haven’t been paid. Turgut can’t reach Ridvan because Cihan had their phones thrown overboard. Turgut’s instinct proves correct. The money is gone. Turgut breaks the bad news to Aslan. He seems to know it was Cihan.

Cihan drives to Ilyas’ old neighborhood. Looks like the egg throwers Telemundo didn’t show (but dondi explained) threaten Cihan. But Cihan gives a signal, and Aslan’s money starts flying out a window. The guys revert to adoring Ilyas.

Aslan is with Leyla. She’s hysterical. Now we see a flashback to Melek and Leyla. Melek says she’s sorry, but she has to do it. [Her expressing sorrow seems to me that she really did like Leyla, that the angry scene in the shared room was for show, and she’s only doing this to protect her family.] Melek turns the weapon and stabs herself. She screams several times for Leyla to stop.

Leyla tells Aslan that she only took the weapon they saw in her hand because Melek was going to stab herself again. Managing to calm herself, Leyla tells Aslan that it was their mother. Hulya was at the prison trying to get her to sign away custody of her children. When she wouldn’t sign, Hulya said she’d pay and soon. Aslan replies that she’d only have done such a thing if she’d lost her mind. [He still doesn’t know completely who Hulya is.]

fam2

#38 – Justicia Poética – Part 2 of 3

Serap calls to tell Devin what Hulya did: bribing a prisoner to wound herself and blame it on Leyla. She sends Devin a photo of Hulya talking to Melek through some bars.

Cagri tells Aslan he’ll keep tabs on Melek. If she dies, Leyla will get a life sentence.

Aslan approaches Devin and sees the photo Serap sent. He is appalled and loses it completely, driving off. Devin must have had her car at the prison because she follows.

Serap tells Cihan what Hulya did and shows him the photo on her phone. He walks away, saying he’s going to burn down Hulya Soykan’s house.

Cagri tells Hulya what happened and that Melek is fighting for her life. We get a flashback of Hulya telling Melek that half has been paid to Melek’s mother, and the rest will be after it’s done. Hulya’s plan was a slight injury so Leyla would stay in prison a while and learn her lesson. Hulya says to herself that she thought she (Melek) understood. [I think that Melek wanted to die, believing her mother and daughter would be all right.]

Aslan arrives at the house. He enters asking Hulya how she could have done it, hurt her own daughter. Hulya starts to deny it, but Aslan shows her the photo on, I think, Devin’s phone. Devin was right behind Aslan and has arrived.

Aslan keeps shouting at Hulya to tell him she didn’t do that. Hulya says her only intention was to keep her grandchildren with her. “What about Leyla?” Hulya: “I told her to stop being stubborn and return to this house. If she’d have listened, none of this would have happened.” Aslan is beside himself. “She had two children, your grandchildren. I promised the kids that their mother would be back.” [Well, he shouldn’t have told Hulya about Leyla getting out right away.] Aslan: “When did this family become broken?”

Devin and Ceylan are escorting Seher away from the impending storm. On her way out of the room, Ceylan throws a box of matches on the table.

Aslan begins to sob. “Why couldn’t you laugh or cry with your children? Aren’t you a mother?” He asks if she wants the best thing for her children. She keeps looking at him, stubbornly. He tears a page from what looks like an album of copies of photos. He takes one match. “This is your daughter. [Leyla is shown sobbing.] You burned her. And this one is the maniac Cihan. The third one (third match) is Aslan, your much-loved son.” Hulya looks like she sees a glimpse of Hell.

Aslan: “This night won’t end like we expected (Leyla safe). Half the blame is ours and the rest because of the day.” He strikes the three matches and puts them on the torn piece of paper. He starts a roaring fire on the famous family dining table. And then he walks through the house with a honking big jug of gas and lights other parts of the house.

Devin gets Hulya out. [She could save us some grief by leaving her in there.]

fam2

#38 – Justicia Poética – Part 3 of 3

Devin goes back in, begging Aslan to come with her. He tells her pitifully that he couldn’t achieve his dream. He has a vision of himself and his siblings as children at that table. First Cihan and then Leyla leave, smiling and waving. Devin begs him to leave. Cihan is approaching, calling “Mamá!” He says that she’s burning like their house in 1978. [I assume he means his real parents.] “Welcome to Hell”, says Cihan.

Devin manages to get Aslan out. Cihan tells him he’s sorry. The bomberos (firemen) arrive. Ibo asks if Seher is OK. She’s in an ambulance (maybe they’re going to check her for smoke inhalation). Ibo tries to comfort Hulya. Yagmur arrives and hugs her sister.

Hulya walks up to Aslan, who looks at her with contempt. She slaps him and walks away. He doesn’t appear fazed at all.

Ilyas, Serap, and Kiymet watch on TV, and Ilyas smiles.

Nedret also is watching. At the prison the women watch. They blame Leyla for stabbing Melek, calling her “Countess”. Well, one older woman seems sympathetic.

Aslan approaches Iskoc. He tells him that he burned the house. He also tells him to do what’s necessary to keep Melek alive, even buy organs, or Leyla will die.

Turgut tells Aslan about the dock workers angrily protesting at the marina.

Aslan asks if there’s a mortgage on his grandmother’s house (Seher?). When told there’s only a 25% interest in it for Nedret, he tells Cagri to take his mother there.

Aslan asks Devin if she’s all right, that she could have died trying to save him. “I burned the house. I burned my whole youth.” He doesn’t want her close to what will come. She tells him he still has his sisters, and she won’t abandon him. He says that she doesn’t need to be a savior. “Run and save yourself.”

Nedret calls Aslan, who’s on his way somewhere. He tells her no one was hurt. He asks her about the partnership offer. She says she told him when this began. His mother didn’t come to see her. They didn’t sit down to talk. There’s no sense in keeping up with this. She won’t be joining. He takes it well. Iskoc says this isn’t good. The first installment of the fine is due in two days, and there’s the issue of the dock workers. “What can we do?” Aslan replies: “Papá Ciga” and makes a call.

Serap, Kiymet, Salih and Ilyas are having lunch. Serap rather sarcastically says to Kiymet that she wanted to kill that man (Aslan). “How much more liver can you eat?”

[novelera starts to get confused.] Salih says they have to bring something to the neighborhood, but the cops will trap them. They’re bringing iron?

Aslan calls this Ciga on the phone. He says he’ll keep him informed. Thank you. Aslan says Papá Ciga has some contraband with some Iraqis that they’ll bring to our marina. If there’s no problem with this important cargo, he’ll send us the money we need. [Oh boy, the first step on the bad road.]

Cihan is inquiring about Melek. He tells Serap she only had two wounds in the leg and she’s about to die. He asks her if she had anything to do with it. She says it’s a good thought, but no.

The firefighters urge Hulya to leave; she’s inhaling toxic smoke. [Nothing is more toxic than what’s already inside her, guys.] Ibo tries to calm her. She yells that it’s her land, her house, and she’ll destroy anyone who gets in her way. Even Aslan won’t be saved. Devin asks her if it wasn’t enough to ruin her daughter’s life. Now she’ll do so to her son? “You really have lost everything.”
