FUGITIVAS

I tuned into Univision at 7:55 only to find to my utter dismay that Univision made a last-minute scheduling change and is airing a two hour show that began at 7:00. As I had no idea, I missed the first hour.

I will watch it on the high def channel later tonight (the second hour is making little sense as I didn’t see the first); the recap will be up well after midnight.

Diana

Leave it to Uni! Unbelievable as usual.

Fugitivas,
it showed at its regularly scheduled time on the east coast. I watched about half then realized I hadn't added las hijas to my library and switched to that show but my library isn't giving me the option to watch the remainder. I'm going to bed now and will continue it tomorrow.

Las hijas

Hoping this name hasn't been taken yet. I watched it and am learning the. Characters. Quite a few familiar faces in it so it may be easier to learn the characters in this one. I researched it a bit. Looks like 45 episodes. That's a doable amount and I don't know what else will be offered at this time slot. If no one else recaps 8 may try to make sense of it tomorrow and put something up. I don't think I can do 2 TN's justice but I never do the one that shows at midnight until the next day so perhaps I can. Liz, if you would like to work together with me on it I'm game, I can easily do the Friday episodes as Venganza doesn't show any episodes Friday at midnight.

"PRECIO DE AMARTE" HIGHLIGHTS DISCUSSION
I will post my recap of this evening's Gran Final sometime tomorrow.

FUGITIVAS #75 and #76 Part 1

Bounty hunters these days – because everything is so sophisticated with computers and surveillance, it doesn’t have to be a one-man-army-type guy who goes in and kicks a door down – Mickey Rourke (or, I say smilingly, it certainly COULD be a one-man-army-type guy) 😊

Previously: Seconds after Alejandro returns to his apartment, the doorbell rings. It’s Arturo who stalks in angrily demanding “the” documents. Alejandro toys with him, pretending to “look” for the Playa Dorada papers. Arturo babbles again that Lorena Martinez is Juan Pablo’s murderer. Alejandro senses Arturo is desperately afraid he will be proven as the murderer once it is revealed he swindled Juan Pablos’ father. Alejandro stares levelly insisting he admit what he’s done.

As their fight escalates, Alejandro refuses to give Arturo the Playa Dorada file. Alejandro insists Lorena is innocent but Arturo has had enough. He hits Alejandro hard in the face, drawing blood. Alejandro notes his violence and brutality.

Arturo raves that he loved Juan Pablo as one would a son and that he is not a murderer. He screams Lorena is the guilty party. For whatever inexplicable reason, Alejandro gives him the file.

Vincente talks with his computer student and he tells her she is an angel.

Arturo walks past Vero as he goes into his office, ignoring her hello (wonder why).

Gabriela goes into talk to Arturo; he turns on her like a viper as she runs out of the office.

Montse returns home with her bags of goodies and tries on what appears to be a very expensive, elegant wrap coat.

Ivan looks over the Playa Dorado papers.

Another night at the bar ends as Dario calls Frida over for a good night kiss.

Diana

FUGITIVAS #75 and #76 Part 2

The next morning, Frida doesn’t seem to be well. Fatigue is part of the illness Frida explains to a concerned Marta.

Vincente is meeting with Lucre.

We see Arturo at a television station. We soon realize (to our dismay) he is about to give a live interview.

The fugitivas just happen to be watching as Arturo starts his interview. He informs the nationwide audience that he is being threatened by Lorena Martínez! He asks the public to look for the dangerous fugitive who killed Juan Pablo Correa. To sweeten the pot, he promises that whoever provides information leading to her capture will be given three million pesos. He reads from some documents. The girls stare aghast and yell at the screen as Arturo continues, saying how dangerous Lorena is. The girls say what a disgrace he is. Three million pesos for my head Lorena sobs as Frida and Lisset hug her.

Amanda tries again to talk with Patricio about Marta. I believe all he will say is that they are very different. She says something about them being in love and happy. They are interrupted by a policeman who informs them that Arturo has just offered money for information leading to Lorena’s arrest.

Vincente calls Arturo asking him about the bounty. She is an assassin he tells him.

Matias shares Arturo’s “message” with Dario, Erick and Marta. They are all upset as Marta frets. Lorena comes in and Marta hugs her.

Nico, Ismael and Patricio discuss the situation. Another call has come in about a lead.

Montse is sitting in her kitchen when she hears the news bulletin. She grabs her water and leaves. She looks it up on her phone and stares.

Alejandro finally shows up at Ismael’s office. How is Lorena Ismael asks. I don’t know. Alejandro relates how Arturo showed up at his house and threatened him. It’s my fault! They talk about how important the documents are. He texts Lorena but I don’t know what he said. Ismael can’t reach Arturo.

Lucre excitedly tells her friend/counselor that Vincente’s friend is going to let her live at her house!!

Everyone at the Oasis tries to comfort Lorena who curses Arturo’s name.

Diana

FUGITIVAS #75 and #76 Part 3

Gabriela pushes Vero aside and bursts into Arturo’s office, chastising him. He tells her it’s hard to accept she is a criminal and says she shouldn’t be so dramatic. She pushes him to his limit and he stands and screams at her. She isn’t afraid and gets in his face as he orders her out! She gets a few choice words in before she leaves..

Lorena voices her concerns to Alejandro who tries to assure her everything will be all right.

Vincente and his student meet. He tells her Lucre is thrilled and accepts her offer. I believe she said something about nice it will be to have a child there so I think Teo is going too (?) He thanks her…

Ismael lets Arturo know he is very unhappy with his unexpected presence on the newscast where he demeaned the work of the police.

A distraught Lorena watches a TV report of which she is the topic. Matias comes in and turns the TV off. He takes her by the hand and leads her to the store room where there is a kind of punching bag. “Bien” he says smiling as she pounds away, at first with her fists, then with her hands. He hugs her as she cries.

Florencia visits Arturo reading him Ismael’s press release in response to his declaration. In short, the prosecutor’s office does NOT agree with Arturo’s actions. Arturo could care less.

Amanda and another policeman visit Ismael and talk about the bounty.

An upset Gabriela is paging through a scrapbook of pictures. She tells Vincente his father is terrible. She is not a killer she utters for the thousandth time. Later she tells him his father has no scruples; he is mentira. He tells her he loves her but it is of scant comfort. She is breaking up with him; the situation is untenable. No he says crying. He insists there is a solution but her mind seems to be made up. She utters unkind words about Vero and Florencia.

Ismael shows up at Florencia’s. “What a surprise; how are you” she asks acidly. He makes no effort to hide his anger. He can’t reach Arturo but she says he isn’t there. I think she complains about him being in love with Lorena and threatens him about the baby.

Facundo and Montse have dinner. As a loyal friend of Arturo, he passionately tells her that Lorena killed Juan Pablo calling her “maldita”. Montse is obviously very shaken and stares.

Ismael bursts into Alejandro’s apartment asking where Lorena is. Alejandro states the obvious, she isn’t here. Ismael demands to know where she is so that he can protect her. Alejandro stares and echoes “protection” a bit contemptuously. Alejandro refuses to give him the address as that would put her in danger. Ismael insists that Alejandro ask Lorena if she wants to turn herself in to the authorities.

Diana

FUGITIVAS #75 and #76 Part 4

“Buenos dias” Vincente asks Gabriela the following morning. How are you? “Triste” is her answer. He grabs her hand and literally begs her but she pulls her hand away blaming Arturo. She takes her backpack and leaves shutting the door as he almost cries.

Arturo meets his friend Genaro (?)

Another meal rolls around and Dario bids the women hello; Erick shows up ready to eat.

Sofia answers Ale’s call: they quickly discuss Arturo and then he asks her if she is home.

Vincente leaves a note for Gabriela and wheels his suitcases out the door.

Arturo’s friend is called away. Seconds later, who should slither into his empty seat but Eréndira. She helps herself to his food as she asks about Lorena. To his shock, she promises she can deliver Lorena Martinez to him, but natch, there is a catch. She asks if he wants to negotiate. She insists however that the deal is only between the two of them. No police intervention. Oh and the money must be in cash. She hands him a phone; he looks thoughtful as she leaves.

At the Oasis there is pounding on the door. Everyone looks at each other nervously. We hear a man’s voice yelling as everyone stares with Dario tells everyone to remain calm. Erick goes to open the door and there is the fugitivas’ former boss (El Turco) who punches Erick in the stomach and forces his way inside. He wants information on Lorena and starts browbeating Frida. He threatens if they don’t tell him he is calling the police.

Calls are being fielded from those calling the station about Lorena. Nico thumbs through “leads” on Lorena but doesn’t seem to think much is there. He hands them to Ismael who reads the first one then asks for Amanda.

El Turco is still threatening, demanding to know where Lorena Martinez is. He reaches in his pocket and everyone freezes, thinking it’s a gun. No, but it’s just as bad given the circumstances. It’s a phone!

Patricio and Ismael talk and Ismael says Arturo is obsessed with putting Lorena in jail. He hands him all the leads to read.

Diana

FUGITIVAS #75 and #76 Part 5 of 5

Stop Dario says, no need to call the police. El Turco knows she is there and calls out to her as she slinks against the wall. This is your only chance. He starts calling the police. At that, Lorena yells out no and comes out from her hiding place.

Amanda asks her father what he is doing. He tells her he is following up leads. More arrive and he reads one and laughs.

You are a killer El Turco accuses Lorena. Lisset stands in front of Lorena and El Turco moves forward but Erick quickly and angrily subdues him. He said he had no choice. They ties him to a chair with a rope as Dario puts his arm on Lorena.

Sofia bites into a doughnut the size of her head as Alejandro talks about the documents Charo gave him.

El Turco is still out cold. They try to find some sort of solution.

In the last scene of the evening, Patricio is still thumbing through the “leads” dismissing most after a few words. Then one catches his attention. He is told that the most wanted of the fugitivas works in a bar where the waitresses wear colorful wigs!

As there were fewer commercials, I think most of the two hours were aired. I was tired to begin with and staying up several extra hours didn’t contribute to my translating skillz. I know I missed much. Kindly add to what I missed or correct what I got wrong.

Diana

FUGITIVAS

Thanks, Diana. Your recap was excellent. We certainly are so close to the end that unless they kill El Turco and dispose of the body, this is only going one way. Poor Montse! Facundo turned out to be a law and order type with no sympathy for the FUGITIVAS. Time for her to go. Will she be the only one togo on the run or will she show up again at El Oasis to join the others in the debacle. Poor Patricio with his new knowledge about Lorena working under a wig at the bar.knowing that Marta lied to him again.

FUGITIVAS

Jarifa, thank you for your continuing, uplifting support.

"...unless they kill El Turco and dispose of the body, this is only going one way" seems to be exactly right!

I have never believed that everyone has to end up with someone. But I thought that by the end, we'd have several happy couples. But you nailed it that Marta's deceit of Patricio (yet again) was not promising.

Yes, Montse knew her time "was up" and poor Frida seems to have very little chance of surviving. I would hate Lisset and Erick not being together.

No spoiler but the only ones likely to be together now seems to be Lorena and Alejandro. And, possibly Ismael and Amanda. How ironic.

Diana

Fugitivas,
Let's not forget Lisette and Eric. Those 2 are rock solid.

FUGITIVAS

Hi Kat. Yes, I mentioned Lisset and Erick. I'm equally worried about them.

Completely agree they are "rock solid" :)

"PRECIO DE AMARTE" GRAN FINAL HIGHLIGHTS DISCUSSION
Howdy from the Alamo City. Here's my personal thoughts on last night's Gran Final.
13.) Triggered Ivan gets all triggered & goes to Buji Eduarda by telling her that Rodrigo is Diogo.

14.) After Eduarda gives Jorge money at an undisclosed location, Eduarda pulls out the gun & shoots Jorge in the back, mortally wounding him. We see Diogo coming to Jorge's aid afterwards & calls the ambulance.

15.) Over at the hospital: Jorge apologizes to Amelia for not being the father she needed & during his deathbed confession: he reveals that Eduarda was the one, who had Diogo kidnapped many years earlier & that he killed Diogo's father. Jorge finally dies: Good riddance.

16.) Over at the fancy mansion, Eduarda confronts Rodrigo/Diogo by revealing his identity with a gun pointed at him & opens fire, while missing Diogo, who ducks on the floor.

17.) Somewhere, we see Ivan & Diogo meeting face-to-face, telling Diogo that he is aware they're brothers.

18.) Eduarda takes Martin & drives somewhere in an attempt to run away from the law enforcement authorities, etc., but it's unsuccessful as the Good Guys catch up with her.

19.) We see Amelia (who is preggers with Diogo's baby) reuniting with Martin, who runs to her.

20.) Eduarda fatally shoots Ivan, who dies as Amelia, Diogo, Martin are the only ones, who watched him die.

21.) Tarek demands Eduarda give him the money, but we see Tarek shooting Eduarda. Diogo fatally shoots Tarek & was about to pull the trigger on Eduarda, but doesn't do it.

22.) One year later: We see the lovebirds Diogo & Amelia getting married with majority of the cast in attendance.

23.) Francisco confronts Eduarda by saying she will spend the rest of her life in prison. However, Eduarda reveals that Martin is Tarek's son from the affair she was having. We see Crazy Olga in the prison too, who wheeled the paralyzed Eduarda away.

24.) Francisco & Roseta get their happily ever after too & I believe she gave birth to a daughter I think.

25.) Amelia & Diogo enjoying their love & vowing to be together by the tree where their love began many years ago.

Fugitivas

Well, I'm glad I got your recap Diana since my library didn't seem to record it last night. I had watched the first half, which is available on the Univision app as episode 75.

I don't know if it was noted in your recap but Arturo told Gabriela he only hired her because of Victor. He won't support her insults and accusations so she is fired.

Also, I sure hope Ismael requires Arturo to turn over the supposed threats by Lorena against his family so they can be investigated. If they are emails I'm sure Sophia can determine their origin ( his lawyer?). If letters then postmarks etc from the envelope should be analyzed.

FUGITIVAS

Kat, I had a feeling Arturo did fire Gabriela but couldn't quite make it out in the midst of his ranting and raving. I appreciate your providing that.

Any "evidence" showing threats by Lorena would have to be fabricated. I believe Sofia is a private eye/detective...

Diana

Las Hijas
I enjoyed the first episode. Seems like it will be a “lighter” telenovela. I actually had to look up the young son in the cast and couldn’t believe he was Gabriel from Juana. Well, he did look familiar so I went to the cast listing to see where I’d seen him before. It’s amazing how they can look so different just because of the character they’re playing. I’m looking forward to watching the one that starts next week too. I’ve recorded Fugitives and that watched a couple of weeks worth. Wish I’d watched it with the patio!
Liz

Las hijas

I watched last night . There are so many familiar faces. I like the match up of Laura Flores and Cantu . I am trying to recall where I have seen Juan before . He's the guy who got soaked with the hose . I think this is going to be good .

I think the mansion is the same one we saw in the butterfly novela. Susan

Las hijas

Susan, I couldn't remember who Juan was, then looked him up, the love interest of Mar. The actor played Osvaldo in Marea de Passiones ( I confess I forget which character that was, the husband of Nina, and that name is likely wrong, perhaps?).

Liz , I watched Brandon Peniche ( Arturo Portillo in this show) in Nadie Como Tu and I much preferred his look in that show to Gabriel in Juana. Arturo is a similar look. Show time. Even if no one recaps just having a discussion about the show could be fun.

Las Hiyas

Kat, thanks for the info about the guy playing good poor guy Juan . I remember " Marea" , but I cannot remember the character he played .It's driving me crazy because I have definitely seen him before .

Looks like Cantu isn't playing a super evil villain in this one. Susan

FUGITIVAS #77 Part 1

There is no honor among thieves – American proverb

Previously: Patricio is still thumbing through the “leads” dismissing most after a few words. His expression changes when one catches his attention. In effect, it states the fugitive who is the most wanted works in a bar – where the waitresses wear colorful wigs! The gamut of emotions Patricio experienced flash across his face. Truth, betrayal…hiding in plain sight.

Arturo contacts Eréndira to discuss logistics as to how she will turn over Lorena to him. She first demands half of the 3 million pesos reward in “small” 500 bills.

Gabriela and Alejandro have a heartfelt talk…

The fugitivas and company discuss what their next move should be. We see an unconscious El Turco still gagged and bound to the chair.

Eréndira meets a courier and they sit on a park bench and exchange the money.

It’s a party! Arturo and the couple from the other night are guests of Facundo’s. Small talk about Ismael ensues until Arturo’s phone rings. Montse excuses herself and follows him, listening in, hiding in the background. I believe she learns Lorena will be handed over to Arturo and he will deliver the rest of the money as promised.

At Oasis, Patricio comes in, gun drawn, and tells everyone to put their hands up! Everyone immediately complies. Patricio calls Ismael… Uh oh. Amanda is outside the bar and before she can enter, we hear the click of a gun as it is put to her head. Patricio’s call is interrupted when Eréndira, La piraña and two other accomplices enter, La piraña’s gun up against Amanda’s temple. Patricio’s hands are instantly raised. He tries to casually mention Detective Rojas but Eréndira already knows Amanda is his daughter. One of the woman orders everyone down on the floor on their knees.

Ismael asks some of the policemen where Patricio is but they don’t know. He then goes into Amanda’s office which is empty. Now fully alarmed, he gives orders to the men.

Amanda is thrown down on the floor. “Where is Lorena” Eréndira screams at the top of her lungs. Then she starts calling “Lorena” in a sing song voice and whistling.

Montse tells Facundo she has to leave and kisses him.

Diana

FUGITIVAS #77 Part 2 of 2

A seemingly beginning to be unhinged Eréndira continues to call Lorena. In the meantime Lorena rushes out of her hiding place, making a run for it. During the chaos, Frida takes advantage of the interruption, finding a knife on the bar and putting it to the neck of her tormenter. Sadly she is quickly overcome. Patricio gets up and says he doesn’t want any problems and tries to rationalize with Eréndira.

Things are getting tense. Marta somehow pushes a cell phone toward Amanda as Patricio keeps the dialogue going, Eréndira’s patience seemingly ebbing. La piraña takes her aside. Clever Amelia dials Ismael’s number, puts the call on speaker and starts talking. A livid Eréndira then sees the cell phone and smashes it on the floor. She starts threatening Amanda when Marta stands up and says the cell phone is hers. Lorena seems to stand up and offer herself up. One of the women starts arguing with Eréndira.

Ismael brings his men up to speed; they prepare to take off when Nico materializes out of nowhere.

While the argument between the woman and Eléndira continues, Lisset manages to throw fuel on the fire by pointing out that Eréndira lied about the amount of the bounty; it is actually three million pesos! Eréndira has a mutiny on her hands as La piraña and the other women confront her. As they argue, Lorena, Lisset, Frida and Erick manage to crawl out of the room. Eléndira takes ownership saying it is only thanks to her that they are going to get any of the bounty at all. It was my plan Eléndira spits out as La piraña glowers her disapproval.

Erick tells the others the police are there…All of a sudden a shot rings out. Frida starts to go back worried about Marta but the women stop her. They quickly escape out the back.

We see Eléndira spread out on the floor. One of the robbers goes to her and declares she is dead. It appears Eléndira was shot and killed by La piraña.

Ismael, Nico and hundreds of police (not really 😊) arrive. The three women are handcuffed. The officers search the kitchen but it is empty. We see Frida, Lorena and Lisset running down the street; Frida clearly laboring, completely out of breath. They tell Erick to go back.

Montse arrives, joining the crowd that has gathered outside the bar, staring wide eyed at the gurney being wheeled out. She asks a man standing outside what has happened. Dario and Marta are led out, handcuffed. Matias breaks away from the crowd and Patricio subtly nods, allowing him to go to his father.

Alejandro’s doorbell rings and Lorena, Lisset and Frida enter to his and Gabriela’s shock; is there room for three more??

Dario comforts Matias saying all will be well. The police lead Matias away from his father. Marta is put in the squad car as she and Patricio exchange looks.

This was so exciting!! So much happened so quickly; I was so drawn in, I had to keep telling myself to listen and type and react later 😊 Rereading the recap it looks so short but I hope I included the high and low points. Kindly fill in what I missed and/or misunderstood.

Diana

Who is Cantu? I'm not seeing him in the credits. Is he the dad?

FUGITIVAS

Wow! Thank you, Diana, for covering all the action so superbly! Yes, it was very exciting and such an enjoyable watch. I got a phone call towards the end and just might watch it again. Matías is a minor so he is going to the ministerio público where child and family services must be. It will be intriguing seeing what the charges will end up being for everyone.

Fugitivas

Yes Diana a very exciting episode. What confuses me is first, from yesterday, the guy that they tied up bangs on the door and only Lorena leaves the bar. All the Fugitivas should have rushed upstairs or to the bodega which suddenly has made an appearance in the domicile. Then tonight Lorena rushes out but doesn't make an escape out the back. Meanwhile a few scenes later the 4 do run out the back. And Erick went back to the bar with the backpack of money. That should have stayed with the girls, does he plan to turn it in to the police.

Florencia and Arturo are covering each other's back.

Mati is also brought in since he is a minor. I guess a temporary foster care place will be found for him.

I don't think Montse told Facundo she was leaving. She was sending him off to some concert or something but claimed a headache/ flu symptoms ( but kissed him goodbye and shared those flu germs). She made her escape while he was gone.

The episodes i missed yesterday were finally recorded to my library at 3 p.m. today in their entirety. No 2 episode mashup.

About HEAs I believe Vicente and Gabriela will resolve their differences when the truth about Arturo comes out.

FUGITIVAS

Kat, you are all set!

FUGITIVAS

Jarifa, thanks so much!

I appreciate your noting where Matias is going. Poor kid. I hope neither Dario or Marta is jailed for too long but it doesn't look promising.

With only 3 episodes left, I'm assuming the girls end up caught quickly. I know they were up against the wall but if they have any chance of escaping they need to leave Ale's immediately. Won't that be the first place Ismael looks?!

Can't wait until tomorrow!

Diana

FUGITIVAS

Hi Kat, I can't even a hazard a guess about the "escape routes" the fugitivas did and didn't utilize. I have to admit though I did smile when Lorena rushed out this evening; did she seriously think she had a chance running by everyone? :)

I really didn't follow Facundo and Montse's conversations this evening so didn't realize she didn't tell him she was going...appreciate your noting that.

"About HEAs I believe Vicente and Gabriela will resolve their differences when the truth about Arturo comes out". I suspect you are correct although that's nice for Gabriela if that is who she wants; I've never cared for Vincente.

We really need something good to happen here. I sense Amanda is softening a bit when Marta stood up saying the phone was hers. I'm still rooting for Marta and Patricio.

Diana

Las hijas

I've been watching scenes on and off as they aired in Mexico, it looks like a very interesting telenovela. It's a remake after a Turkish story and they are always different, so I will do my best to make some time for it.
I was thinking about recapping at one point, I just need to find the time, which is not easy right now.
Guillermo Garcia Cantu gets second billing, after Maria Sorte, he's right at the beginning of the credits.

LAS HIJAS

Hi Adriana Noel!

I've been watching a bit here and there.

Thank you for pointing out the credit hierarchy. I'm especially happy for Maria Sorte who has done such good work over the years.

Fugitivas also is giving the more seasoned actors top billing; however, Daniela Alvarez, the main female protag is either 6th or 7th in the credits but her love interest, Arap Bethke is right up there with Cesar Evora and Erika Buenfil (both of whom I adore).

Diana

Las hijas #2

Another fun episode. Learning the back stories. Cecilia and Luis are about to celebrate their 25th anniversary. In typical soap opera fashion, I don't see how she managed to have 4 children, the youngest Camila having finished design college, in those 25 years. They should have made it 30 years of marriage. The sons being groomed for places in the family business( textiles) would then be of the age one would expect, mid to late 20's. At least then they would match up better with their ages in real life ( late 30's). As it plays the sons are under 25. I guess there is a possibility they had a few before they were married, but I doubt it.

I wonder if Leonardo is adopted. Something the couple said in the first episode makes it sound like it was a possibility. As I learn names I will go into greater detail of the episode. I'm just hoping it isn't a dark TN.

One actress that made me go look up the cast was Camilla. I could have sworn she was a blonde Juana the virgin actress! Her face shape and voice really fooled me.

LAS HIJAS

Kat, thank you very much for posting this.

I'm only semi following along and you provided some important background. I've not seen the actress playing Camila before. Camila seems like a jerk although Paula is supposed to be grasping and not too nice herself.

Cantu (Luis) is such a marvelous villain, but he's also very skilled at being "good". I love Laura Flores (Cecilia) who was part of my favorite TN scene ever (with Eduardo Yanez in Corazon Salvaje 09).

Ofelia is really chewing the scenery; her determination to make Mar a star seems unwaivering. I like Valeria very much; she is strong but kind.

I just can't warm up to Brandon Peniche although I like the other two brothers.

Thank you for starting this off.

Diana

Las hijas
Kat, I had no idea Camila finished college. Later on her father keeps asking her what she'd like to do and telling her she should finally decide whatit is that she wants so I thought she only graduated from secondary school. Why is it always, always the age/education/occupation of these characters I have to struggle with the most? At least it's not a mystery company inc this time.
I really could have done without Peniche this time, though. There's been a bit too much of him for me. Is it just me, or are there these strange seasons for male actors, where one actor shows up in several consecutive shows? It might be a coincidence, but I had the same feeling with Sebastian Ruli.

Las Hijas

I like this show so far , but I , too, have had enough of Brandon . Where is Daniel Elbittar???

It's nice to see a happily married older couple . The Mexican telenovelas like to appeal to all the generations.

Good , poor Juan is the hero at this point . Looks like Camila was impressed by his kindness and ability to change a tire , and he refused to take money .

Adriana Noel and water lily, so good to " see" you here . Susan

Fugitivas

Dear Diana,, thank you for giving us an excellent play by play of all the drama . Jarifa and Kat, thank you for the extras,.

Well, how are the writers going to finish up this tale . I think and hope that we get some HEAs,. If the writers are in a positive state of mind , we could get Loren and Ale, Patricio and Marta, Amanda and Ish, Vincente and Gabriela.

I still think that Arturo, Nic, and Florencia were all involved in JP's death.
Susan

Las hijas

Waterlily, I'm not sure when Mexican students finish highschool. Perhaps 16, which means Camilla could be younger. In her conversation with the middle brother he wanted to hire her in the new sportswear line he is spearheading in his contribution to revamping the business with the ideas he learned abroad. She said she had no interest in working. She likes her Playgirl lifestyle living off of daddy's money. He asked why she went to school ( I'm assuming college) and she said because that is what the parents expected of her. So design school could possibly be a 2 year program and that would put her between 18 and 20. I don't know why I try to make sense of it all. I read Univision 's meet the cast write up. It was wrong about Mar. It said she was the mejor daughter and when they described Valeria they say Mar is her younger sister. I'm thinking Valeria is the eldest. It was written in Spanish so I perhaps got it wrong in my reading comprehension. I'm 2 years into learning Spanish and I am an old dog learning new tricks( language) so I rely on others to clear some things up for me.

Susan, I'm also tired of Peniche. 3 in a row is too much (band his Gabriel character in Juana never grew on me). Luis is a new actor for me so I will enjoy seeing someone new. It does make it easier to identify the characters if I've seen them before.

FUGITIVAS

Susan, thank you for your kind words.

"If the writers are in a positive state of mind , we could get Loren and Ale, Patricio and Marta, Amanda and Ish, Vincente and Gabriela". I'm with you - fingers crossed. I am going to feel badly about Frida though, unless some sort of miracle occurs and she survives somehow.

FUGITIVAS #78 Part 1

F-E-A-R has two meanings…Forget Everything And Run or Face Everything And Rise. The choice is yours - Zig Ziglar

Previously: Matias has been taken into protective custody as Marta and Dario are handcuffed and taken away in separate cars. As the car bearing Marta pulls alongside Patricio, their eyes meet as we can only imagine the gamut of emotions flooding through their minds. And hearts.

Erick runs to a crying, frantic Montse and hustles her away from the crowd.

Lorena, Frida and Lisset are sitting at Alejandro’s, Frida still emotionally distraught. Erick calls and tells them Eréndira is dead. They are impactada and naturally worried about Marta…

The transmission cuts out as President Biden’s address was aired (I expected Univision to either air Fugitivas at 7 or air it after the speech. But nopis. They started Fugitivas and interrupted it 5 minutes in ☹)

The next scene we see is Frida in bed crying as Lorena tells her to be calm. Montse and Lisset join them; Frida cries softly and reveals she is dying as she has an incurable disease… the girls are shocked and saddened. The girls are clearly moved as Lisset explains further, all of their shoulders heaving. I believe she asks them to treat her normally. The girls take Frida’s hands holding them in support. Erick and Alejandro enter and Alejandro asks what is wrong; Lisset (partially) lies and says they are worried about Marta.

Ismael sits at a table facing Dario, Patricio standing. Dario is clearly being interviewed but it is low key, Ismael is calm and Patricio a bit agitated but I assume that is likely due to the situation with Marta. I wish I understood the gist of the conversation during which many names were bandied about, but I didn’t. I believe Dario stands up for his mother who is an honorable woman. Of course, he is concerned about Matias.

Amanda and Patricio are meeting with Ismael. Amanda gives Ismael a file, she identified El Turco and they discuss his sordid history. Oh Nico is there too. He mouths off and Ismael tells him to leave. Patricio asks about Marta’s situation and I believe Ismael says she will have to testify.

Nico interrupts Arturo’s beauty sleep, giving him the news Lorena has once again evaded capture. Oh, and Eréndira is dead.

Patricio and Marta have a quick meeting in the hall. It seems Marta asks for forgiveness; she tries to explain that after giving shelter to the fugitivas, things got out of hand. Patricio asks her to keep her explanations to herself; she is now facing charges. Another policeman comes up (giving Marta an evil side eye), ready to take her away. Patricio closes his eyes and grimaces.

I believe Nico is stalking Alejandro’s house and calls Arturo.

FUGITIVAS #78 Part 2 of 2

Montse gets up and goes into the living room, Erick and Lisset are curled up on the couch. She wakes Alejandro up and voices her concern about what is to happen with Marta. I believe Alejandro says Marta will be charged with obstruction. It seems Montse has concocted a plan to turn herself in, taking full responsibility for everything in order for Dario and Marta to be released.

The next morning, Facundo is getting Montse’s voice mail. “Where are you” he mutters to himself.

Ismael is besieged by reporters. Word is out Eréndira is dead and they are peppering him with questions about Lorena and Arturo. Facundo is watching this on TV when Montse’s picture flashes on the screen. “Cecelia” he questions, shocked.

Her lawyer Alejandro by her side, Montse does indeed turn herself in. Head high, staring defiantly, she actually tells Ismael she had threatened to harm Matias!! She says it is all her fault.

Erick finds a letter Montse left. Dear family, she begins, explaining what she is doing and asks for their forgiveness.

Alejandro tells a not quite convinced Ismael Montse is taking full responsibility. Ismael finally agrees albeit not happy.

Erick gets a text but I couldn’t determine who it was from or what it said. Erick spills out the bounty money as the girls smile.

In jail, Marta gets a visitor. It’s Montse who explains what she’s done. Marta is incredulous saying “por dios”. The women cry and hug.

Ismael tells Patricio that Montse claims full responsibility. Are you sure Patricio asks?

Erick calls someone and whomever it is and whatever was said makes him happy. Erick picks a pack of money off the floor and heads out.

Ismael and Patricio talk with Dario and then Marta. Ismael looks at Patricio who doesn’t seem to be swallowing everything.

And with that, in the last scene, Marta and Dario are free to go…

As this ended at its regularly scheduled time, we do not know what was omitted from the episode.

I was stymied by the majority of the dialogue tonight. The harder I tried; it seemed the more things eluded me. As I frequently say, I did the best I could. Kindly add to and/or correct what I misinterpreted or missed.

FUGITIVAS

What an episode to recap with a good portion gone in the middle! In spite of that, Diana, you did a fine job. You got the crux of the matter that was Montse decided to work out a deal to save Marta and Darío by having Alejandro tell Ismael that she had confessed that she was the reason that they all stayed with Marta and Darío. She had threatened Marta with killing her grandchild if she didn’t let them hide out there. Of course in fantasy jail house collusion style, Montse gets to square the story with Marta so their versions match and so Marta and Darío will not be charged with harboring fugitives. Marta is grateful. I didn’t pay much attention to the episode with so much missing.

FUGITIVAS

Jarifa, thank you for your kind, generous words.

Loved "Of course in fantasy jail house collusion style, Montse gets to square the story with Marta so their versions match..." which was perfect! 😊

No show tomorrow so we'll have to wait and see what happens Friday. I can't imagine how all of this will turn out. I have a feeling we won't learn who killed JP until the last few minutes of Monday's episode!

Diana

FUGITIVAS

Diana, I think you are right about the identification of JP’s murderer. Too bad they didn’t cut part of Guadalupe and start FUGITIVAS earlier. The speech tonight was no secret last minute occurrence. All in all, I cannot wait until Friday.

FUGITIVAS #78 Notes On Unaired Scenes

I suspected my high-def channel might air the episode in its entirety and luckily, it did.

Little to add but here it is. We pick up right after Erick calls the fugitivas telling them Eréndira is dead.

Lorena apologizes to Gabriela and asks how she has been. She admits she and Vincente broke up because of how she feels about Arturo and everything he has done.

Still at the crime scene, Amanda and Ismael talk in the aftermath of the arrests. Amanda tells Ismael that Marta gave her the phone so she could call him. He digests this saying the important thing is you and Patricio are all right. He puts his hand on her shoulder.

Alejandro takes Gabriela home.

Frida is getting weaker as her crying about Marta escalates.

Dario and Marta talk in jail; she asks the policemen where Matias is as Dario shakes his head.

A phone on the barroom floor rings and Ismael picks it up, asking who it is. Startled, Arturo immediately hangs up and removes the chip from his phone. He calls someone as Amanda tells Ismael that the phone is Eréndira’s.

Alejandro’s doorbell rings and it’s Erick and Montse. She asks everyone to forgive her as Lisset looks on doubtfully. She says Facundo would never forgive her for being a fugitive. Lisset softens and hugs her.

Alejandro returns reporting that Gabriela is safely back home.

Frida frets about Dario and then faints when she stands up. Are you all right they ask. Of course she isn’t although she assures them she is.

Matias is brought in to see Marta and Dario. He tells Patricio his father is innocent. We are fine Dario lies. Marta thanks Patricio for letting them see Dario. It’s my fault Marta tells Alejandro and Ismael.

Frida is (barely) able to stand and starts to keel over as soon as she tries to move. Lorena helps her in the bedroom.

Marta seems to defend Dario to Ismael and Patricio.

Next we have the already covered scene where Frida is in bed and Lorena is comforting her.

Las Hijas de la Senora Garcia
Episode 3 - After Dark Auditions - Highlights
I was able to take a few notes, I really like this show, I can't commit for now, but I'll try to be around as much as possible

part 1/2

Arturo doesn’t accept Mar auditioning because she’s too late, so Ofelia blackmails him with revealing to the press that he asked for another contestant’s phone number. How dare she? Because she is Senora Ofelia Garcia! Arturo agrees to see Mar at 9 PM. Better dressed, in high heels and without her mother!
Nicolas finds out about it and scolds his brother, the company is not his dating pool.

Luis talks to his business partner, who is very unhappy with Arturo. No business skills on his part. Luis doesn’t lose hope that his youngest son will get better.

Because Juan’s mom is no longer available to work at the mansion, it’s our Senora Garcia who scores an interview. Ofelia makes it clear that she despises Juan, but she is very interested in his offer to go work for the Portillas.
She checks out some magazines with photos of the family, tells Valeria this will be their first step to leading a better life. Valeria rolls her eyes at her mother’s dreams of grandeur.
Juan is unhappy to hear that Mar is having an audition at night, he obviously doesn’t like this type of activity for her.

Camila acts like the child that she is. Her mother tries to reason with her, but it’s better to whine, pout and watch telenovelas.

Leonardo is unhappy because his father doesn’t jump with joy at one of his good business decisions. Luis is worried because Arturo, and Leo is obviously jealous of his two younger brothers. Paula amplifying his resentment and nagging at him day and night doesn’t help.

Mar is crying on Valeria’s shoulder about losing out on a date with Juan because she has to go to the audition. Valeria doesn’t want to play chaperone by accompanying her sister, but she reluctantly agrees. She even allows her sister to make her pretty with a touch of makeup and a nice dress, but she can barely stand her heels.

Las Hijas de la Senora Garcia
part 2/2

Cecilia and Juan are a happy marriage and seeing Cantu act like a decent human being is such a change.

Ofelia has her interview meeting with Cecilia (she loves the house, everything is so fancy). They bond over their love for their children and Ofelia convinces Cecilia she is the best person for the job.
Cecilia starts telling Ofelia details about the people in the house, their likes and dislikes. Ofelia eats it all up.
As the interview is ending, Cecilia has a sort of crisis. Oh no, a headache! Is she having some terminal disease? She is the glue that holds all the crazies in the house together, without her they would be at each other’s throats 24/7.

Luis makes it clear he didn’t agree with Leo’s marriage to Paula, he would have preferred his son chose to study abroad, like Nicolas did.

Mar and Valeria arrive early for the audition. Juan is following them, tries to stop Mar. Valeria defends her sister’s right to make her own choices, gets burned with some hot coffee. Mar wants to stay behind and talk with Juan. I’m not saying that I agree with Ofelia pushing her daughter to become a fancy model, but I’m not liking Juan a lot, either.
He tells Mar not to listen to her mother, this is not her dream. Mar agrees to leave with him and only send Valeria a message not to wait for her. What?

Valeria goes alone to the audition, she is supposed to explain that Mar is just shortly behind. She arrives to an empty apartment and tries to clean up a bit, remove some of the stain left by the coffee.
Nicoles finds her as she is trying to remove part of her dress to better clean it and misinterprets things. He goes off on her, they don’t need this type of women for their campaign. He throws some money her way and asks her to leave. Valeria is mortified.
Is this supposed to be a meet cute from Hell? It sure seems like it, but isn’t Arturo the galan?

Luis finds Cecilia asleep next to her drawing. Oh, wait, she is not only sleeping, she is passed out!! No puede ser!
Luis calls a doctor.

Thanks so much, Adriana, for the notes.
Nicolas sure doesn't bother holding his tongue and first figuring out what's going on.
But I don't particularly like Arturo either. I am bored with the 'spoilt womanizer' types already.
It's funny that Juanknows Mar doesn't get to make her own choices and follows her mum's dreams rather than finding her own path, but then he forbids her to go to the audition. He seems to be the jealous type and I'm not sure why televisa thinks it's still appealing to use this kind of galan. I bet he'd tell her she isn't allowed to go out on her own at night or wouldn't want her to go to some place where there'd be men if these two got married.
I'm a few episodes ahead and Mar really gets on my nerves. I don't envy the actress portraying her. That voice of hers when she's pleading grates on me. But I bet there are quite a few women who choose marriage thinking they'd escape their controling parents this way, just to later realize it's they've exchanged one form of control for another. I do wonder if they had to change a lot of aspects of this telenovela, given that the original is Turkish.

Las hijas

Adriana, thanks for jumping on board. I'm liking it so far also. I can commit to helping a few nights. The one I am recapping solo plays at midnight so I don't watch it till the next morning. My Monday evenings are free and Friday would be easy also.

Yeah, Juan controlling Mar is annoying. He played a similar character (add in spousal beating) in Marea de Passiones.

Ofelia definitely is lapping up all the elegance of the mansion. Thank you for clarifying what she blackmailed Arturo with. I'm afraid Cecilia is done. Such a shame. She really is the glue. I think Ofelia and Luis may end up being a storyline. The opening credits with her swanning down the stairs with her daughters flanking her seems telling. You can tell she does love both her daughters though Valeria is a bit mean to her. She was probably a daddy's girl.

I laughed at playboy Arturo's collection of sheep ( stuffed?) animals on his office shelves. I guess it could possibly be different types of sheep's wool since they are a textile company.

LAS HIJAS

Adriana, thank you for the excellent recap.

"...seeing Cantu act like a decent human being is such a change". It certainly is but I like it!

"Her mother tries to reason with her, but it’s better to whine, pout and watch telenovelas" had me smiling away.

Ofelia really sees herself among the high and mighty, particularly rebuffing the housekeepers when they tried to shake her hand. Delusional.

I had high hopes for Juan but it seems he will be the usual jealous, unambitious boyfriend.

From the scene in the gym, I think Valeria is smitten with Arturo...

My first thought is that Cecelia had a brain aneurysm rupture which is fatal in approximately 50% of cases. I was one of the lucky ones.

I am working on my nightly Fugitivas recaps while this is on. I hope to be able to watch more after Fugitivas ends.

Thanks again Adriana Noel.

Diana

FUGITIVAS

Diana, thank you for the extra info!

FUGITIVAS

Jarifa, I'm glad to have seen what was cut. Sometimes it's just relieving to know nothing earth shattering was missed :)

Can't wait til tomorrow.

Diana

Glad you could find the missing pieces!

LAS HIJAS

Thanks, Adriana, for getting this going. I just caught up this morning and found it entertaining.

Las hijas

Waterlily, I can honestly say I dislike all the younger guys. Arturo is a skirt chaser, Nicolas is a hot head, Leonardo is spineless and envious and Juan is a macho. The only one I like is Luis and the poor guy is about to be in a lot of pain apparently.
About women choosing marriage to escape abusive parents and end up worse... it's their pattern, they are unknowingly attracted by the type of life they know. Juan is still young and can surely change, but he's definitely not swoon worthy for now.

Kat, I think Valeria is a bit mean because she doesn't like the way her mother is trying to control Mar. Ofelia might not like that Valeria is not a pushover also. I think their backstory will be explored some more and we'll get our answers.
I could do maybe two recaps a week, but I'm not sure I can commit to any particular days for now. How about we play it by the ear, chat in here to decide our schedule?
I can do tonight's show, maybe you can do tomorrow (Friday) and next Monday? I could take over after, or maybe someone else will jump in to help?

Diana, wow, your health scare must have been awful to live through. I'm so happy you're doing well now.
Valeria is definitely crushing on Arturo. She's seen him around the gym and he's easy on the eye, although not really galan material for now.

Jarifa, I find the story extremely entertaining. For whatever reason it reminds me of La herencia. In that one I didn't really care about the main couple, but I loved the colorful characters surrounding them.
I think that Nicolas is pretty much acting like Simon (and is being played by the same actor), I find his character to be the most interesting so far. He has a good business head and his father's trust, but he went off on Valeria so fast, I have to wonder if there won't be more to their story.

HIJAS

Adriana, yes, that was such a surprise and nasty reaction from Nicolás. Yikes!

Las Hijas

Cher Adriana,, merci . I am so glad that we are finally going to watch a novela together . It has been a while . These brothers make me think of the brothers in Herencia.

Diana , you and I have been here at caraycaray for quite a while ...even before it was called caraycaray, and I remember your journey and your bravery . So glad that we have shared so many of these telenovelas together through many ups and downs . I remember that Corazon Salvage remake . I think you and I enjoyed it ( Big Ed ) , but some people here preferred the original . Laura Flores played Big Ed's mother even though in reality , they are probably close in age . She is an excellent actress who changes her look for each novels that she is in. She looks beautiful in this show.

Cantu is terrific at playing monstrous villains , but I love to see him as a loving, devoted husband .

I am enjoying this show. Wonder who the galan is supposed to be . Who has top billing? Susan

O/T

Adriana Noel, thank you for your kind comment.

Susan, we've been on CarayCaray together for going on 17 years now. Oh my, how time flies! Yours and others kindness to me was instrumental in my recovery and I will be forever grateful.

I mentioned recently that my favorite TN scene of all time was in Corazon Salvaje. Yes!! Laura Flores played Eduardo Yanez' mother (she's 10 years younger) and her death scene with him by her side was heartbreaking; well written and beautifully acted. I am so sad she had such a brief part in Las Hijas as she was a big part of why I wanted to watch.

Cantu is just outstanding as always. He is listed first in the credits behind Maria Sorte. I can't remember the order of the "brothers" but I think Peniche is supposed to be "the" galan here (to my disappointment) :)

I think this is going to be fun.

Diana

Hijas
Thanks Adriana, I enjoyed your recap. I’m not crazy about any of the young men. Maybe they’ll grow up as we watch.
I don’t like the way Ofelia treats Valeria. She seems to expect her to pay all the bills, while she’s always going on about beautiful Mar. And threatening Arturo was really low. At least he told her that Mar had to come without her.
I keep waiting for Luis to turn mean! I’ve never seen him nice! I hope Cecilia isn’t dead, but it sounds like everyone thinks Ofelia will worm her way into his life. I don’t like her, but I do think this will be a fun show.
Liz
