PAPAS #11 Part 1

Previously: Emiliano was checking out the pool area when to his shock, he catches Federica and Facundo kissing! Taken totally off guard, he panics and rolls his wheelchair to the edge of pool, falling in! We see him furiously flailing in the water!

Emiliano is screaming “papa” as he goes under several times. To our horror, we see him floating face down in the water.

The dinner from hell is finishing and due to the excessive and loud bickering, no one hears him. Fortunately, Federica jumps in and saves him (she waited a bit I thought). Tino finally roars up, jumping in and bringing Emiliano to safety on the side of the pool. He administers CPR and pleads for his son to wake up.

Aidé and Circe are still bickering when Tino comes in carrying Emi; he gently puts him on the bed. Everyone gathers round ministering to him as Checo, with a swarthy look starts filming!

Emiliano is ensconced comfortably in bed as Tino, Aidé and Fer surround him. Tino is so grateful to Fed! He tells his son how very brave he is. Emiliano gives no clue as the real reason he fell into the pool. Fed receives even more effusive thanks from Tino and Aidé.

Calm finally comes to the dining room, Scarlet actually smiles.

Fed berates Facundo for his carelessness in what transpired, hitting him with her pillow. He makes a rather ridiculous display of looking suitably frightened.

Breakfast is surprisingly calm; oh, Circe is not there. Oops, spoke too soon, she slithers down the stairs in a hot pink jumper. She makes faces at Tino’s speech but leaves without injecting venom. Aide tries to talk to Circe about her father but she isn’t interested.

Lichita, sporting a lavender Maxiclick t-shirt has breakfast with her family. Checo’s attention is elsewhere as he views the video he made of Tino and Emi post-accident.

Tino takes Emi to school. The doctor has a few choice words but unfortunately I can’t translate as I don’t know what was said! 😊

Clara Luz and Rudolf meet with Tino to strategize.

Diana

PAPAS #11 Part 2

Fer and Aidé (arms crossed, every inch the mean girls) give Lichita her orders for the day. Federica sucks up to Aidé; Lichita talks with Guzmán.

Checo shows up at Circe’s school. Why are you here she smiles, happy to see him. She apologizes for the other night; he takes it in stride. He lies through his teeth explaining that he is looking for a school as Uli watches them from a distance. Checo tries to put a flower in her hair and hold her hand but she keeps him at bay. Checo gets a call from El Calacas and makes tracks quickly.

A musical number is taking place on site, purple Maxiclick banners on display. Tino on drums, Rudolf on guitar, Clara Luz doing sound check.

Aidé is in a meeting, Facundo the hot topic. The performance is being live streamed as a group of adoring fans (employees) surround them. All of a sudden Aide walks up and asks what is going on. She is soundly ignored and the singing continues. The meeting participants walk out to join the crowd and are delighted. Thinking quickly, Aidé asks if they like the surprise.

Checo talks with an “associate”.

Aidé is reaming Guzmán and Tino out. Aidé indignantly tells Tino he organized the event without her permission. Over several scenes the gist seems to be that Tino tells her he had a market analysis done and the findings support a growth opportunity for those who enjoy music. Guzmán gets out the second he can. Tino apologizes again. Later, Aidé agrees to give him another chance providing he agrees to her conditions. He does and rushes to her, hugging her.

Lichita, Clara Luz and Rudolf have a quick reunion in the hall. Dona Pur calls saying she is calling the doctor for Pipe.

A concerned Uli asks Circe about Checo but she calls him a traitor.

Clara Luz has a cute scene with Pipe. He is marking himself up with a red pen much to Pura’s consternation.

Diana

PAPAS #11 Part 3 of 3

Circe is looking for Uli in his room. She smiles staring at a photo of the two of them. She hides in the bathroom when Tino and Uli come in, listening as they talk about Aidé.

Lichita calls home as house husband Chano (duster under his arm, towel on his shoulder) tries to placate her.

Circe threatens Uli with whatever she heard he and Tino discuss.

Uh oh, Clara Luz and Rudolf show up at Maxiclick. The smile quickly fades from Aidé’s face.

Fed pays Emi a visit under the guise of caring as to how he is. She is of course anxious and insistent he not “tell” what he saw. In a preemptive move, she tells him he was in shock.

Tino moves forward to greet Clara Luz and Rudolf as Aidé visibly cringes. He tells her they will be part of his work team but Aidé is furious, rejecting the idea.

In the last scene of the evening, Checo shows El Calacas the video. If he doesn’t already, it is only a matter of time until he realizes Tino’s weakness – his son.

As usual, there was much I couldn’t interpret; I hope what I have is right.

Las hijas #15 part 1

Luis witnesses the slap to Mar and is furious with Camila. He orders her to apologize. Cami tries to justify her attack with Mar having stolen Mama's perfume, but he says she told me it broke and it was an accident. Now apologize. Mauled Mar says it's not necessary like the timid thing she is, but Luis keeps telling Cami to apologize. Cami says get her out of this house or I'm leaving. Luis calls her bluff, there's the door. ( Made me laugh). Paula witnesses the whole thing. I guess she would be happy to have Cami go, one less woman in her attempt to be one the mistress of the house.

Jime is running a swimming workout when Val shows up wanting a favor. She wants to spend a few days at her place as she is now homeless. She also asks jime if she hears of any available jobs to let her know as she is unemployed (thanks to Arturo).

Luis doesn't really want Cami to leave, he still just wants her to say she is sorry. You always take other people's side (she is acting like a 15 year old!) Cami storms off. Paula tries to excuse herself , but Luis is sure she is behind this latest disruption in his not so tranquil life since Cecilia died. Luis apologizes to Mar and heads off to talk to Cami.

Arturo is on social media. Pretty soon he will name the model for the new line, but it is so difficult as they all are so beautiful. Leo is watching on his phone, probably to complain to dad, and so is Priscilla who furiously throws her phone down. (The 3 shelves of sheep in Arturo's office look on sheepishly....)

Cami is packing her bag. She doesn't need dad, she wants to be left alone. He tells her to think hard about her decisions she makes. The best decision she can make is to leave. Luis leaves her room as she screams I hate you dad. Ok frosted windows into bedrooms creeps me out. Cami is crying on her side of the door and dad can be seen, as through a fog, on the other.

Ofelia comes into the servants quarters where Mar is wringing her hands in despair. Ofelia asks what happened? Why are you crying? Cami accused me of stealing her mother's perfume, she hit me and pulled my hair. Mar gets on her knees begging her mother that they leave this place. (Of course they no longer have a home so there is that). Mar doesn't deserve to be treated like this, and Ofelia agrees. Off O goes....

Arturo shows up at the vacated Garcia home. I guess he can't read the for sale sign. A neighbor tells him they were evicted for non payment of rent.

Ofelia is on the warpath, and Cami is her target. Insults fly back and forth. Ofelia tells Cami she is an insolent brat that her parents failed to discipline. You better respect my daughter or you won't know what I am capable of. Ofelia hit below the belt with one of her attacks by saying the difference between you and my daughter is she has a mother to defend her. That was not nice to the grieving child. Cami cries. Ofelia leaves, but she does seem to realize she was cruel to Cami and says poor muchacha.

Arturo follows the neighbor who is saying hopefully they won't return. Doña Chelo is talking to a young guy about repairing the house so she can get top dollar for it. Arturo asks her about the house and former tenants and thinks they need to talk.

Graciela confronts Luis about Cami. He says my daughter is uncontrollable. Graciela says she's just young. He angrily tells her she is trying my patience and I have reached my limit. She hit that poor girl Mar. Graciela continues defending Cami. Luis thinks it will be a good thing for Cami to go and see what real life is about. She has had everything given to her all her life. I'm through. (He was taking a pill at the beginning of this scene and he looks a bit worn out at the end. Does he have high blood pressure or something?)

Papas

Diana, thank you! If you missed anything of importance, I missed it too. And to be honest I missed quite a bit more, important or not. I do wish these people would talk a little slower, it would be a help.

Aidé's upset reaction to seeing Clara Luz and Rudolf had me wondering if Aidé ever got along with anybody at that prepa.

I don't know who that other guy was that Checo was talking to, but they both wind up talking to bad guy El Calacas, with the braids. Is this a new thing in telenovelas, the bad guys have oddball hair? Like Brayan in Vivir de amor?

Facundo was quite the hero. Fede should have hit him with something harder than a pillow.

Tino's "concert" was absolutely goofy. But social media is eating it up it seems. So Tino lives to screw up again another day.

Andy

Las hijas #15 part 2
Val is wandering town at a kids playground where a dad is catching his daughter on a slide. She sits on a bench and pulls out the framed picture of her and her dad.
Paula goes to Cami's room to ask are you really leaving? Seriously I'm sorry things went down this way. I can't believe your father defends that girl over his own daughter. Paula continues her barbed remarks, I wonder what you will do with no job or education ( I thought she had some design degree). I'll really miss you she adds. Cami glares at her and leaves with her suitcase and jewelry... Paula grins in satisfaction.
Leo enters Nick's office asking if he's seen the video. Nick is very pleased with the reception it got.. Leo thinks it was a terrible idea. Nick schools him on business. We need to reach the young customers that we are not currently reaching. Leo counters you don't know what you are doing in this business. Nick says according to whom, you? Dad gave me this opportunity, if you have a problem go talk to him.
Cami walks her suitcase down the hall. She brushes past a sweeping Ofelia (she does do her job well) and goes to her dad's office. I'm leaving. He says think about this, all I asked was for you to apologize to Mar. She doesn't care, goodbye.
Ofelia tells Mar I stood up for you to that girl. Mar thanks her. Mar says everyone in this house has it in for me.. Ofelia says it's because they are envious of you. Mar thinks she should go back home with Val. Ofelia agrees it is a good idea for her to return for a few days and take care of Val as she recovers from her pneumonia. Don't worry about Camila. She left.

Cami waits outside for her Uber ride, Juan to the rescue. ( I like Cami's dress). She thanks him for coming. Where do you need to go. Are you taking a trip? A year drips down her cheek. Are you okay? She wants him to take her far from this place. Take me to my friend. He says sure and mutters a bunch of things to himself that I didn't catch.
Arturo asks his secretary, Ivonne, to connect him with his personal bank. Nick comes in and they talk about the campaign. Nick tells him Leo is trying to torpedo it. Arturo says he's just looking for attention from dad, nothing more. The 2 are working well together.

Juan is asking Cami what's wrong as he hands her a tissue while he is driving. I'm having problems at home. My dad doesn't understand me. Juan says I have the same problem at my house. They bond over their common plight.
Ofelia and Mar arrive at their evicted houses d look at all their stuff in the street ( I guess nothing was worth stealing as it's still there.) Ofelia's friend (forgot her name) tells them that Chelo evicted them and changed the lock. Where's our stuff and Valeria?I Their (better) things are in the friend's house. Friend thought Val was with Ofelia. Amparo says that Susana called Chelo and told her that the house was flooded. Ofelia is going to see that Susana pays for this. She storms to Susana and throws a rock through her window. Susana comes out and Ofelia continues her threats against her. You will pay!
Juan drops Cami off at her friend's house and thanks him and overpays him. He says it is too much but she insists. He took her mind off her problems. Cami lets herself into the unlocked house without even knocking. I guess she

Ofelia's complaining to Mar that it is her fault for associating with that Juan. Mar leaves to lay down. Ofelia tells Amparo that she was unhappy in that place and it wasn't much but it was a roof over their heads now we have nothing Amparo says you were a helpless young girl when you moved here. You are no longer that girl you are a strong woman that has taken care of your daughters. Amparo tells Ofelia to get back up and fight.

Susana and her husband are cleaning up the broken window glass when Juan returns home..

PAPAS

Andy, thank you for your always kind support.

"Aidé's upset reaction to seeing Clara Luz and Rudolf had me wondering if Aidé ever got along with anybody at that prepa" had me smiling away; I think you posed a very valid question.

I'm also puzzled by the bad boyz braids. And yes, you are exactly right in that Brayan was one of the original pioneers of this strange, unflattering "luke". :)

I haven't seen all of Jose Ron's TNs but wonder if this was his musical debut? Perhaps a better song might have helped.

The biggest mystery for me is how Aidé EVER ended up with Facundo. It just does not compute...

Diana

Las Hijas #15 part 3

Juan wonders what happened? That crazy Senora Garcia did this. It's your fault. Both parents now tell him to break it off with Mar. Who is going to pay for the broken window. Juan peels two 500 whatever denomination bills from his wallet and leaves.

Moaning Mar is sad she had to return to the mansion. Since they are now homeless they have to just deal with it.

Family dinner time. Leo says he called Cami today. But she didn't want to talk to me. Paula makes an inane remark that it's complicated. Graciela thinks Arturo should reach out to her. He thinks he'll wait till she calms down. Graciela blames it on his houseguests. He thinks Camila was totally at fault. Luis steps in and says the problem is between him and Cami and he wants no interference from them. Some discussion about the vagabonds ( Paula's terminology) since the Garcia's are now homeless. Luis wonders how Arturo knows that, he says because one of them is my girlfriend. Luis tells some more and says if they don't like it they can leave like Cami.

Val is eating dinner at Jime's house. 7 are scrunched around the table. The youngest boy is still hungry and wants more food but Mom says they have to save it for an older brother who is still at work. She sends him off to brush his teeth as he gives Val a dirty look for eating "his"food.

More fighting at the mansion. Luis has lost his appetite. Paula and Arturo get into it. The Garcia's are welcome iny house he tells her ( papas house but he is making the distinction that she has no say )

Cami and Priscilla are eating alone at the other family mansion. Priscilla is rewatching the social media post about the model winner announcement. Priscilla shows it to Cami who scrolls through the contestants and sees Mar and goes ballistic again.

Jime's mother is asking how long Val will stay. Val is clearing the table in the background. Mom is going to have to add more water to the beans to make the food stretch. Val offers to each up. Mom says they've got it. Val says she's been thinking it's best if she calls her mom and stay with them. Jime's mom sighs in relief.

Luis holding Cecelia's picture, it's his fault. He blames himself for not understanding his kids. He wants her to help him from the beyond.

Ofelia is giving Mar a pep talk. They call Val. She is walking the streets crying and ignores the call . Mom worries about her.. Val ends up.atbher old house. At least there's still a couch for a bed in the courtyard fior her.

Ofelia wakes Mar up early she hasn't slept a wink all night worrying about Val. Mar calls Juan.

Val wakes up Amparo chews her out for sleeping in the streets, get your butt over to my house.

Graciela goes to the kitchen where Ofelia is preparing breakfast . She asks for a cup of coffee and sits at the bar. Ofelia asks if she can have a few hours off. Graciela says of course. Take all the time you need, but don't come back until you've found a place to live. I'm tired of the chaos you and your daughters have caused in this house.

I had to dice a bunch out of this comment as it was too long. With the blogger format it does not make it easy. Part of the diced stuff was...

I guess Priscilla and Cami really are like family as they let themselves into each other's houses without knocking.

Papas

Diana, I am also puzzled as to how Aidé wound up with Facundo, the foppish jerk. A thought has occurred to me though. Is it possible that Aidé again had too much to drink one night and got pregnant with the ever-so-cute Scarlet?

Probably not, but it's hard to see intelligent and reasonable Aidé with Facundo. Maybe he seemed okay when his car show was doing well? I dunno.

Andy

HIJAS

Thanks, Kat, for the very fine recap. Stubborn illogical Val is annoying me just as much as stubborn illogical Cami. I cringed when Ofelia told Cami that at least Mar had a mother to defend her” but she did ask for it as Ofelia concluded. I was glad that Luis was strong enough to take
control and let Cami go. Was this the first time somebody said no to her? Poor Ofelia! Everyday brings a new challenge to her stay at the mansion.

PAPAS

Andy, re Facundo and Aidé, "is it possible that Aidé again had too much to drink one night and got pregnant with the ever-so-cute Scarlet?" I think you might be onto something!! I can't think of any other scenario that makes sense. Facundo + Aidé = ???? WTH.

Diana

LAS HIJAS

Kat, I read the first two parts of your recap last night and the third just now.

It was truly excellent. I so enjoyed your wry observations especially "Ofelia and Mar arrive at their evicted houses d look at all their stuff in the street ( I guess nothing was worth stealing as it's still there.)"

I really felt for Val, the caring, dutiful daughter who has done everything she can to carry her family and has now lost it all. My heart went out to her as she watched Jime and her mother talk, realizing she could not in good conscience stay.

So Graciela decides to take things in hand and oust Ofelia and Mar. Inevitable as things could not continue even though Cam is gone, at least for the moment.

The unsung hero here? Amparo. Bless her.

Diana

Las hijas

Thank you, your recap is spectacular!

Cami's behavior was appalling!! She attacked Mar without warning. Not one word, she didn't so much as ask if she stole the perfume she just attacked! And she has zero remorse!! She feels like she had every right to behave the way she did and still demands Mar be ousted even though she did nothing wrong. She needs to leave the house; she needs some tough love. I find the complete lack of conscious twice as appalling as her actual actions. We get the comparison scene just a few minutes later. Ofelia lights into Cami and she goes too far and as she's leaving the room we see her pause, and question herself: Did I go too far? That poor girl? Who would have thought it'd be Ofelia with the compassion?

It was a sad picture at Jime's house, but I don't know why Val couldn't have slept there and ate elsewhere. She shouldn't be sleeping on the street days after fighting pneumonia.

Which reminds me of another thing that was bugging me in the last few episodes Alfonso shouldn't be yelling at Nic and Art for not making fast enough progress days after 1) losing their mother and 2) Art getting in a serious car accident. If there was ever a time to be understanding and supportive of time delays it's now and Al is the type of dad who would be. It's just plain bad writing/plot trap to have him pressing Nic and Art to get results yesterday or hand over the project.

PAPAS

I will put something up tonight

Diana

Las Hijas

Thanks Kat, great recap! I was disappointed in Graciela last night. She had no sympathy for Ofelia and Mar and blames them for Cami’s bad behavior. She should be telling Paula to find another place to live. Paula seems to be the one that stores everyone up! And i can’t believe I’m actually on Ofelia’s side now. Although it might not last!

Here’s my fantasy, Arturo boys the house, turna it into a little dream cottage, and Ofelia and the daughters move in and are the envy of the neighborhoid.

I was hoping Cami would tell Juan how she smacked the housekeeper’s daughter and refused to apoligize. Then Juan could have pulled over and told her to get out.

Liz

Papas

Diana, thank you for an excellent review that cleared up some things for me .
For example, I didn't know what they were talking about in that meeting that Aide was having with the two men and a woman . So, they were talking about Facundo????

So, Jose Ron gets another chance to show off his drumming skilz...hello, Ringo Starr....and wear the bandana on his head . Groovy.

The word" scuzzball" popped into my head every time Checco came on the scene. This, actor looks older than a teen to me. His friend looks weasly , too . How in the world did these guys get mixed up with Braids ?
Susan

PAPAS

Susan, thank you for your lovely words.

I am fairly positive I heard Facundo's name several times during Aidé's meeting with whomever they were (staff?? lawyers?); they didn't seem to be happy with him although I can't tell what they said.

I find the character of Checo completely repulsive. Susan; "scuzzball" works equally well. :) I wonder if money and/or drugs are the reason they got involved with "Braids". We should find out soon.

Diana

HIJAS

Liz, ITA If Juan only knew the truth he wouldn’t be so friendly.

Las hijas

Kat, thank you for bringing us every sad, bad moment .

They could have entitled this show," Sad Poor Girls, Mad Rich Girls ." The misery of the poor chicks juxtaposed against the silly , nasty anger of the rich chicks is troubling . Cami, Prissy, and Paula have too much time on their hands because they have nothing meaningful to occupy them . How did Cami turn out so badly with supposedly kind , loving Cecelia as her mother ???

Val is too proud to ask Arturo for help even though her association with him caused her to lose her job. I suppose Richie,Rich Art is now going to buy the house and give it to O and her girls all spruced up by that handyman.
Then, Mar is going to get the modeling job.

So sad to see that crowded table with Val feeling guilty because there isn't extra food. I agree that she could have just asked to sleep there and eat somewhere else. Thank goodness for people like kind Ampara.
Gotta dash. Susan

Las hijas

Thank you, Kat, I missed some of the scenes, your recap helped me understand better.

Good for Luis not caving to Camila's whinning. I don't get why Graciela is so determined to excuse all her tantrums, surely she must realize that she is just a big bully.
And how is it only the Garcia's fault that they are in conflict? Arturo almost killed Valeria while driving drunk, Mar gave her blood to save him regardless. Nicolas has called Valeria a hooker basically and Camila is treating Mar like she were less than dirt. But somehow THEY are the ones causing trouble?
Sure, Ofelia had a hidden plan, to get Mar in Arturo's face so that he'd fall for her and/ or give her a modelling job. But Mar couldn't care less about Arturo and vice-versa.

Papas
I can shed some light on the Facundo name being mentioned in what I think was a board meeting. Maxiclik ( I feel like it is a small Amazon type business) is a family values company and Facundo's social media post accusing Aide of moving her lover into the house is hurting their brand.

As I watched the show I thought Federica looked way prettier in the track suit and washed clean of makeup scene after her dunk in the pool. Speaking of the pool she pretty much threatened Emilio that accidents can happen around that pool if he didn't forget what he thought he saw.

Looks like Circe and Uli are attending a country club school. No rushing to class, plenty of time to escort a non student around the campus. Circe gets the chauffeur/butler to bring her to school. Seems they forgot to grab Uli in the process.

When Tino brought Emi to school the principal told Tino he is late in the school fees. He'll be expelled if he doesn't pay. So I guess the public school system in Mexico is not free? I guess it could be a special school for handicapped kids but he is plenty bright, out him in a public school.

Any other questions? I think I am getting a grasp of it pretty well.

Las hijas
Diana, part of the comment that I cut to fit this format touched on Val providing for the family. I think she was a preteen when her dad died. Ofelia obviously had to work for years until Val grew up some. I'm thinking Ofelia's unemployment is fairly recent but Val is just exasperated that she is pinning all her hopes and energy getting Mar into modeling. I bet most of Ofelia's former pay checks went into Mar's wardrobe.

It/papas

I posted a comment around 2:13 this afternoon but it's been gobbled up by blogger if anyone can retrieve it. Thanks.

Thanks for the recap, Kat. I forgot just how irritating everyone here is.
I'm another one who is confused by Graciela's constant defence of Cami. I don't know why she wants to show her preference by basically insisting everyone should 'understand her'. If Secilia was such a great mum, why is Cami so awful? It's like she's never even heard of a 'no' in her life.
Does Leo know anything about anything? Everything that isn't his idea is a bad idea.

Papas
Thanks so much for the fine recap, Diana.
I have to agree with those who are baffled that Aide ended up with Facundo. When she met him, she was no longer that school girl. He has no goodqualities that would be appealing to others. Even Federica seems to think he's stupid. It would be nice if this supposed romance was at least somewhat convincing! I can't remember...what was Facundo's job before he became an influencer?
I don't envy Aide having to put up with her former bullies at work. That's like having to interact with your triggers every day.

Papas

Susan and Diana, I think those people meeting with Aidé were investors or representatives of investors. They were unhappy about the lack of needed investment in Maxiclick and thought that perhaps Logrono's idea of Facundo as the face of Maxiclick might be a good one. Aidé, of course, was dead set against it.

One of the investors noticed Tino's "concert" on the Maxiclick feed and they went to see Tino and his band do their thing. They were happy because social media reaction was so positive and they expected investment in Maxiclick to pick up.

It did make me laugh, though. These stuffy investors coming to the "concert" and getting into it so reminded me of those OLD rock and roll, devil music movies of a long time ago. At the end of them all the old fogies would start getting into that rock and roll music, and all would be good and everybody happy.

To me, that scene with the investors at the concert was much the same thing.

Andy my missing comment touched on the business meeting. I thought they were the board. Facundo's social media post about Aide shacking up with her lover is bad for their image. Hope my comment is restored. I had other tidbits and thoughts about the episode.

PAPAS

Kat, thanks for noting the meeting members were likely comprised of board members. As you explained they were discussing Facundo's slanderous post about Aide and Tino, that makes perfect sense.

Diana

PAPAS

Hello waterlily and thanks so much!

Facundo doesn't have any good qualities, does he? Great point. I also can't see him as a hard worker in whatever he did B.A. (before Aide :))

"I don't envy Aide having to put up with her former bullies at work. That's like having to interact with your triggers every day" was perfect and I completely agree.

Diana

PAPAS

Andy, thank you for your insight and providing further information as to what was being discussed. The investors/board members "...were unhappy about the lack of needed investment in Maxiclick and thought that perhaps Logrono's idea of Facundo as the face of Maxiclick might be a good one". Oh dear. No wonder Aidé was so upset.

Loved "old fogies"! Great expression that's been part of my vocabulary for eons! :)

Diana

Papas

Who is Logrono? Wasn't Facunda on some kind of tv show,? Didn't he tell Aide that he gave it up for her, but she said the ratings were bad.

Yes, folks are digging that rock and roll beat that Tino is banging out on those drums . He's hip . Susan

Papas

Kat, thank you for the corrections and updates. My Spanish is often more guess work and wishful thinking than actual understanding :-)

Susan, Logroño was the stuffed shirt and male chauvinist who had dinner with Aidé's family and was receptive to the idea of Facundo somehow representing Maxiclick, presumably because he would be better suited to such than a woman.

I think Facundo had or has some show about cars. We have seen him with his collection of various cars and then recording his "show" using his cell phone. Just about anybody can be a social media star these days. That time we saw, I think he was spewing some nonsense about Aidé and/or Tino.

Facundo is now all about getting back with Aidé or getting a really nice monetary divorce settlement. For him it's all about the Benjamins -- or Juarezes or whatever in Mexican currency. Money so he can continue living the good life, without actually having to work for it.

Andy

Kat, your comment has been retrieved :-)

Thank you rgv chick My posts come and go for no apparent reason.

PAPAS #12 Part 1

Aidé still simmers to a slow boil, rejecting the idea of Clara Luz and Rudolf being part of Tino’s team. Tino argues they have production experience; Aidé is not impressed and is unmoved.

Fed is toying with Emiliano who seems a bit perplexed by her attention. Lila shows up and Fed gets rid of her by flapping her hand like a bird (of prey).

Repulsive Checo’s equally revolting friend takes center stage flapping his gums as El Calacas waves a set of keys at the boys.

In a flashback from their school days, we see Clara Luz sitting in class as Aidé enters with a poster board. We see Clara Luz’s hand on a thread like rope. As Aidé sits, Clara Luz pulls the rope causing a gooey, red substance to cover Aidés hair, face, and shoulders. This “Carrie” replay is just horrible to watch. Back in the present, tears pool in Aide’s eyes but do not fall. For some unfathomable reason, Clara Luz not only doesn’t offer an apology but flounces out in anger.

Circe and Uli argue as Fed struts up. She has something important to tell her. She tells Circe that she is suspicious that Aidé and Tino are in a relationship; their obvious affection seems to transcend that of friendship. “Yuck” is Circe’s sophisticated comment. Checo texts Circe as Fed looks on knowingly. Still with El Calacas, Checo thinks of his mother working there.

Tino and Uli bond by rock climbing. Uli looks up trepidatiously but Tino encourages him. They fist bump and begin their ascension. Tino climbs right up and Uli seems to be almost right with him. They make it to the top and then rappel down. Tino embraces him in a bear hug.

Fed wants tea from Aidé about Tino; “please, please, please” she whines. Aide laughs but sort of gives herself away.

Clara Luz rather bitterly complains to Rudolf as they walk home but is cheered by seeing a text of Pipe.

Another (calmer) dinner. Scarlet looks uncharacteristically quiet and somber. Emi seems to feel left out but as usual never seems to feel sorry for himself.

PAPAS #12 Part 2

Lichita asks Checo how things are going. After dinner, Chofis goes to clear table but she says no, her father and brother can do it! Checo runs off. Later, Lichita tries to teach an unhappy looking Chano to cook.

Tino tries to talk with Circe and gets little but attitude.

Scarlet ticks her tongue out at Tino behind his back as Emi asks her why. We immediately see that she resents Tino, wanting her mother to be with Facundo. She retrieves a picture of her, Facundo and Aidé from the dresser. Emiliano stares at Facundo, eyes wide as saucers as he makes the connection.

Fed is flashing projections and charts in the NASA control center. Two of the workers have an argument after which Tino intervenes, immediately solving the problem.

Checo shows up at Maxiclick chatting up his mother who is at the receptionist’s desk. When Tino, Fed and Guzmán appear, he makes himself scarce.

Bad news Checo brings Circe outside and shows her his shiny new red and white motorcycle. She is very impressed stating she likes bikers. We flashback to El Calacas telling Checo to work on Tino’s daughter. (I readily admit my attention was diverted by the human skull sitting on a box on his desk in addition to the oxygen tank on the other side. Taste is subjective…still 😊)

Tino and Aidé ide are talking when Circe comes in spreading her joy (Lila listening in). The group is joined by Uli, Scarlet and Emi. Fed arrives and Aide is happy to see her prima. She is there to take Emi on a little outing. Alone he tells her about her being with Facundo. “No no” she says angrily then proceeds to terrorize the boy.

Facundo is doing a little livestreaming and Fed calls to interrupt him. She tells him there is a problem and to meet her later.

Clara Luz picks up Pipe as Pura leaves (is it me or does she not look well?) the doorbell rings and he runs to get it.

El Calacas, Checo and several henchmen are on the lookout as Emi leaves school to go with Fed. Scarlet runs up to greet him. He is put in the car. Checo’s fiendish friend recognizes Fed from the video.

PAPAS #12 Part 3 of 3

Chano and the kids show up at Maxiclick. Apparently he has had enough, he dumps the diaper bag on the desk and leaves to Lichita’s panic and dismay.

Federica promises Emiliano a trip to the park for ice cream but she has a far more nefarious plan in mind as she wants to prevent him from saying anything about the kiss. She takes Scarlet by the hand to get the ice cream leaving Emiliano to play with his ID tag.

Fed and Scarlet arrive at the ice cream shop as she leaves an angry voicemail for Facundo. However, after she hangs up, she rounds the corner but Scarlet is nowhere to be seen! Meanwhile, Emiliano is in his wheelchair and sees a man dressed in black with a black mask coming toward him. He drops his ID in his frantic attempt to get away and as he moves out of view, we see the man drop his mask and erupt in sick laugher. Facundo!

Fed starts to panic for realz.

Meanwhile El Calacas and his band of not so merry men come upon Emil’s ID. He picks it up muttering about a ticket…and there we end.

I did the best I could although I know I missed things. Kindly supply if you can and/or correct what I got wrong.

Las hijas capitulo 16
Part 1/3

Cami goes to visit Cecilia at the cemetery. She misses her. Luis arrives and the two reconcile. Cami will come back to the house, but Luis insists that she needs to apologize to Mar, that’s no way to talk to someone.

Juan comes to see Mar, when will she leave this house? Not before she returns the perfume, Mar answers. Juan promises he will buy it for her, but it’s very expensive. But once that happens, they should move in together. He is sure even her mother will agree. As if!

Valeria is at Amparo’s home when Ofelia arrives, relieved to have found her daughter. She tells her that she got her salary, together they can pay the rent. But Val explains she has no money, she lost her job because of Arturo and she didn’t tell her before because she didn’t want her mother to use this information like she used the fact that Mar donated blood.

Nicolas arrives at work, says “hello” to everyone and searches for his brother. He’s not around, but apparently he just had a big amount of cash transferred into his account.

The vecindad gossips talk about Ofelia and her daughters. Ofelia overhears and shames them for mocking their bad fortune. She reminds every one of them of moments when she was there for them while they had problems. She is obviously right because the women all feel ashamed.
Val is back to lounging on her couch in the middle of the street, telling her mom that she’s staying put.
Some time later a guy arrives to remove the “for sale” sign. The house is no longer on the market.
Enter Arturo, to explain that he was the one who bought the house… for her. Valeria takes this as well as we can all imagine; she could never accept it! Arturo tries to negotiate, he will become her landlord, she can pay rent to him. Val says she has no job for now. Arturo offers for her to become his personal trainer again. Never, Val answers and leaves. Arturo looks amused.
Nick calls him, but he doesn’t take the call.

Camila is back home, Graciela greets her as if she were returning from war. She tells her aunt about having to apologize, Graciela says that Luis is trying to teach her a lesson about being a grown-up. And besides the Garcias will soon be gone from the house.

Juan gets home. Nobody is around, so he goes snooping through his mother’s jewelry box and grabs some necklaces. Oh, boy, this will end well!

Ofelia has come to see Luis at his work. She tells him about Val losing her job because of her connection with Arturo. And no, she doesn’t come asking for a handout, just for a job for her other daughter, Mar. She did the casting, and she was amazing, he’s seen how pretty she is. Luis is cordial, he’d like to help, but the campaign is handled by his sons, and he always makes it a point not to micromanage. What he can do is try to help Val, she can come talk to him about a job. Ofelia is afraid Val is too proud to come and ask for help.

Las hijas capitulo 16
Part 2/3

Luis arrives at work and geez, he says hello to everybody, too. These Portillas are such good people.
He tells Nick about Camila being back at the house. But they all need to realize that he won’t always be around to fix their problems. And now he found out that the girl Arturo is seeing lost his job because of him. Nick is surprised.

Paula comes to visit Leo (and says “hello” to nobody). She wants to start working on the campaign, but Leo says his father hasn’t really put him in charge yet. Paula is furious, did he lie to her, does he not realize the type of woman she is??

It’s night time. Val has managed to get two job interviews for the next day. Amparo reassures her, she can stay with her as long as she wants. Val tells Amparo about Arturo’s gift. She’s sure he’s just treating her like all the other women in his life, but she will not cave. Amparo suggests that maybe he will be different with her? She is to young to say no to love.

Luis comes to talk to Camila about apologizing. She hasn’t done it yet, she hasn’t seen Mar. Then he speaks to Arturo about Val losing her job. Art says he’s doing his best to help her, but she’s being difficult.

Later Nick comes to ask Art about the money missing from his account and Arturo says he used it to buy Valeria’s house. Nick is shocked, he thinks he’s losing his head over this girl, he can’t go around trying to buy people like this. Art makes it clear he used his own money, and he only wanted to help. So butt off.

Mar is trying on her engagement ring, but she takes it off as soon as her mother walks in. Ofelia is exhausted. They have so many problems, Mar is their only hope to get ahead. She is so beautiful, she has to become the image of the brand. Mar is less and less confident, they never called her. Ofelia encourages her not to lose hope, that will be her job.

Susana is on the phone with Gloria’s daughter, who is desperate. She was hoping that her mother would help her with the baby expenses. Susana would like to contribute but Jacinto says they have no money. Susana thinks about her mother’s jewelry! Hahhaaha!
Of course she doesn’t find it and goes into a full blown crisis. Someone stole from them! Waaah!!!

Camila kinda sorta not really apologizes to Mar. First she wants Mar to apologize for stealing the perfume. And she is sorry she couldn’t control herself when she found out Mar was a thief. Mar denies taking it, Camila doesn’t believe her etc etc…

Luis and Graciela talk about all the problems in the house. She finds out Valeria lost her job because of Arturo, Luis doesn’t want them to leave the house for now. So what if they stay in the servants quarters? They need to keep helping them. Graciela reluctantly agrees.

Las hijas capitulo 16
Part 3/3

Juan comes to see Mar. He has bought the fancy perfume for Mar to put back. He says he used the money he got from his grandma’s jewelry; his mom will never notice it.

Valeria comes by her old house and is in a panic when she can’t find her stuff anymore. Arturo just happens to be there (has he been waiting all morning) and asks her to come inside. He somehow managed to put everything back together just like it was (or had a man put everything back together). There are even the lighted candles and the many trinkets that were around before.
Valeria is kind of impressed, why is he doing all of this? He doesn’t know it, either, he just wants to be with her. He gets very close, grabs her waist…
She moves away, says she doesn’t believe him, he must say this to all the girls. But it won’t work with her. And off she goes, he can enjoy his house. He is half shocked, half amused.

Paula is still upset with Leo, who insists they just must wait for his father to change his mind about the campaign. Paula plays the victim card, she sacrificed so much for him: her old life as a model, being recognized in the street. Instead, she now has to endure his family’s many humiliations. Leo is surprised she is this unhappy. She whines that she does it all for him and because she loves him, but how much longer can she take?

Mar goes into Cecilia’s room and puts the bottle of perfume back. For whatever reason Paula is already in there are sees her do it. Mar leaves and Paula follows her.

Camila is back at Priscila’s house, once again whining about Mar. But then they start talking boys, there is this guy who drives for an app. A driver! Priscila is shocked. Camila is sure he’s just working this job to pay for his studies. They haven’t gone out yet, but it will happen sooner or later.

Val is with her friend, apparently her job interviews didn’t go well. No gym is looking to hire. So she made some cards, offering private classes. Ximena promises to help her find clients.

Ofelia comes to her room to put back her husband’s sweater. She finds Mar’s hidden engagement ring. She demands an explanation from her daughter, and she has to admit that it comes from Juan, it’s an engagement ring. Ofelia is sure he stole it from somewhere and she gets very mad. She tells Mar she will never marry him and slaps her several times!
She has done everything for her, trying to make her see things can be different. But she’d rather remain in misery, see her life pass her by. Oh, she will remember her when she is hungry and homeless.
Ofelia screams so hard that the other servants and even Graciela hear her. And Graciela is very ridiculous, asking the poor girls to stop Ofelia, why doesn’t she interfere, as the de facto lady of the house?
Ofelia actually throws Mar out of the room, telling her daughter she couldn’t stand to see her “poor and ugly”; alone she sobs, she’s had so many dreams for her. She loves her so much, how can Mar not see this?

Excellent. Thanks, Adriana. The “kinda sorta apology” was a perfect description of the mish mosh that Camila delivered.

Val is still being illogical and annoying. She should have gone to stay with her mother and sister in the first place. Her sleeping on the street was ludicrous, unrealistic and dangerous. And now what?

Btw, good friend Amparo has the perfect name. “Amparo” means shelter. LOL

I did enjoy Ofelia telling her neighbors off.

Ofelia thought she could control and protect her daughter from what she has predicted will be a bleak future but life doesn't work that way.

Too bad Luis’ children didn’t inherit more of his personality traits.

I felt sorry for Mar.

LAS HIJAS

Stellar Adriana Noel. You captured everything so carefully and completely.

"Paula is furious, did he lie to her, does he not realize the type of woman she is??" Umm, he may not but viewerville has his number.

I had turned a bit toward Ofelia's overly zealous light but her treatment of Mar crossed a line. Mar is indeed malleable but she has a heart and Ofelia has no right to crush her spirit and determine her life's path. Juan may not be a knight in shining armor but he is gainfully employed and he and Mar love each other.

That said, it has never occurred to her that her equally beautiful and determined daughter Valeria is also someone that could lift her out of her life of poverty that she despises.

So as Valeria and Arturo haven't even kissed, I'm losing heart they are destined to be together.

Camila is just horrid.

Juan "...says he used the money he got from his grandma’s jewelry; his mom will never notice it". Dear dim Juan...has he MET his mother??

Jarifa, thank you for sharing Amparo means "shelter". Very cool.

Las Hijas

Excellent recap Adriana, thank you!

You're much kinder than I am amiga, calling it a 'kinda sorta' apology, I would have called it a non-apology. It's clear Cami has no remorse for her actions and doesn't think she did anything wrong.

'Graciela is very ridiculous, asking the poor girls to stop Ofelia,' No kidding!!! That scene was just plain weird!!! The one time has every excuse to burst right in and she stands back wringing her hands??? She hasn't been reluctant to opin before? Ordering the staff to intervene?? What was that? She looked just plain dumbfounded and lost.

Arturo was sort of amusing but also ridiculous with his 'I bought you a house as a pre first date present, hope you like it' gift! I liked the bemused expression on the actor's face though. I still want to root for Team Nic. And why is Nic's assistant privy to information about Arturo's personal bank transfers?

Yes, why was Paula already in Cecila's dressing room?

I felt bad for Mar but also disappointed in the writing, a woman as calculating and scheming as we've been led to believe Ofelia is didn't want until had a screaming match with her daughter about not ending up poor and ugly in the middle of the mansion she's trying to scheme her way into? Trauma and shock could react that way I suppose, but I would think our Ofelia would have gotten Mar alone and away from witnesses before that slapfest went down.

Juan went down further in my book. He stole from his mother to buy a perfume that Mar doesn't even need and who is going to be blamed for that? Mar!!! She was stupid to accept it.

Papas

Diana, thank you for another excellent recap. You got a lot more out of this episode than I did. Some days I feel I am getting a grip on things, and then other days I feel totally lost.

BTW, thanks for the idea to put a listing of characters at the top of a document you use for recapping. This led me to an interesting factoid that surprised me a bit. I looked up the word "calacas" suspecting that it might mean something like "braids". Nope, no way. "Calaca" is a skeletal skull. So it seems he is known for his collection of skulls. Fun guy.

Facundo is into cars, he even sometimes calls Fede "motomami".

I have never figured out Clara Luz and Rudolf. They seem to be a couple of some sort, but not married and perhaps not too closely involved. Clara Luz is wondering where she might go to live if she has to start over, without ever thinking of Rudolf. Or did I miss something yet again?

There does seem to be a big difference in how people regard the pranks on Aidé back in prepa. She remembers them as awful abuses, the others remember them as not so bad and a long time ago.

Anyway, I am concerned a little for poor Emiliano. He has two sets of people going against him, El Calacas and his gang, and Fede and Facundo.

And I am sorely disappointed in Checo. He's not a nice guy and he's going to cause his poor family grief. Meh.

Andy

PAPAS

Andy, thank you so very much for your nice words.

"Calaca" is a skeletal skull. So it seems he is known for his collection of skulls. Fun guy" had me smiling away. Perfect!!

"Facundo is into cars, he even sometimes calls Fede "motomami". Andy you have such a sharp eye, nothing escapes you.

I didn't understand Clara Luz's musings about where she might go but your noting she didn't mention Rudolf was important. I assumed they were a couple but now that you've brought it up, they don't seem particularly affectionate with one another.

Emi IS in hot water, I'm hoping he gets home safely and very quickly.

I will put something up for tonight.

Diana

Papas

Thanks Diana. I have caucho up with this and read the recaps but it all seems very confusing. I can’t believe how mean people were to Aidé but still seem to think she should hire them. Facundo is the worse. First he took off when Emiliano was drowning and then he thinks it’s funny to scare him in the park. I’m going to hope pieces start falling into place and i figure out these relationships!

Liz

Las Hijas

Thanks Adriana, that was a great read. I can’t believe Juan would think his mom wouldn’t notice the jewlery is gone. And I can’t believe he stole it to buy a bottle of perfume that really doesn’t need replacing. I was really afraid Paula would just take the perfume and no one would ever know Mar replaced it. Which could still happen!

Valeria is a little too stubborn. She should just pay him rent when she gets a job. He’s the reason she lost her job. And he really should explain to the owner that they’re not saying and never were.

Paula thought she had the modeling job and now she’s mad. I can’t wait till they gire a model, i hope it’s Mar or Valeria.

So Ofelia has helped the neighbors and they great her like trash. I was surprised she had helped them. She sure is mean to her daughters. Too controling.

Liz

papas
Thanks so much, Diana.
I still can't figure out why Clara Luz, even as an adult, can't understand that what they did to Aide wasn't just some innocent thing. And I'm not entirely surewhere the writers are going with this because in a way it always felt that Lichita was the only one who genuinely regreted her behaviour. It's like Clara Luz's redemption is all about starting to care about Pipe. It's quite funny to me that she is portrayed as immature in general and parenting supposedly can help her change. Maybe it works for some, but it's a dangerous idea to present in a show where they do go for the 'stupid choices bring bad consequences'. I kind of wished for CL to remain child-free.Why don't telenovelas include more of such women? It's not a crime not to want kids!
Chano is insufferable.I think what annoyed me the most about him was the fact he mostly cared about his own inconvenience. He got lucky Lichita tolerated him because he did say once something about 'you should go back to work in the gym'.Among women there'susually a lot of talk about how selfish men can be once kids are thrown into the mix. Chano reminds me of allthose stories I've heard.
Poor Emiliano.I can't watch scenes where kids aretortured this way. Remember the one where a boy couldn't talk and a woman kept threatening him? I think there was another one with this plot.

Papas,

I was late getting to your excellent recap . Internet was out this morning .

Andy, thanks for doing the research on the bad braids guy who is now skull guy.

Well, that flashback showed just how beyond mean Chichita was to Aide in school . No wonder Aide is still angry and doesn't want her at her company.

So, the house hubby doesnt have a job but doesn't want to take care of the home . The guys in this guys in this family!!!

Frede is a snake to taunt and threaten poor , sweet Emi, and Facundo is even a worse human than we thought . Where did eScarlet go?? Susan

PAPAS

Hi Liz; I'm very happy you are caught up.

So, I've been watching since the beginning as well as recapping and I have yet to figure out all of the relationships! :) It is confusing, completely agree.

I was a little surprised Facundo was such a scum to Emi but I shouldn't have been. Shame on me.

Diana

Thanks, Adriana. This was great. I like your asides.
At this point I don't know what is better: Arturo, who seems to be thinking along the lines 'I bought you a house...Do you like me now?' or Nicolas, who insulted Valeria the moment he saw her. Did he even apologize?
I'm very surprised by the meanness of these women. Was this supposed to be a trait reserved for the poor? Because in the case of,say, Paula it's clear she is mean but she also has some sort of plan. Camila is spoilt. I know those ladies aren't as important, but what the hell was that?It does feel like the rich have a reason for their behaviour, even the most terrible ones.
Juan can't honestly believe his mum won't notice pieces of jewellery missing. And I still think he is way too controlling. Mar would just replace Ofelia with Juan if she married him.

PAPAS

Hi Waterlily. Thank you.

"I still can't figure out why Clara Luz, even as an adult, can't understand that what they did to Aide wasn't just some innocent thing". Thank you for saying that. What makes it worse is that as an adult, Clara Luz has not expressed the slightest bit of remorse! If Aide can find it in her heart to forgive her, then she should. But I would never allow her to work for me.

Having more women in TNs who do not have children would be refreshing.

I really like Miguel Martinez who plays Chano but the character has no warmth and leaves me cold. He doesn't want to nor can he handle what he considers "women's work". Chofis is a gem, I wish she would get some actual lines.

Waterlily, the little boy you are thinking of who was constantly being threatened was André Sebastián González who played David Zepeda's son Benjamin in Mi fortuna es amarte. So hard to watch!!

Diana

PAPAS

Hi Susan and thank you for you nice words.

Totally agree with everything you said about Clara Luz.

"So, the house hubby doesnt have a job but doesn't want to take care of the home" was great and oh so true! What a waste he is.

Like you, I'm fearful for Scarlet. I hope she and Emi are safe at home by the beginning of tonight's epi!!

Diana

Las Hijas

Cher Adriana, merci, I love your writing style . Thank you so much for a great read !!
The writers are really dragging out the selection of the model . If Luis plans to stay out of it and has told O that he would offer Val a job in the company , I suspect that the model will be Mar. Paula will be so mad .
Yes, what was Paula doing in Cecelia's room. She doesn't seem to ever leave that mansion , so I guess she just drifts from room to room . I was surprised she didn't take that perfume .

I can't believe that Juan took his mother's jewelry and thought she wouldn't notice . Is Suisana, going to blame O for taking the jewelry?

Wow, O went BSC on Mar . I think she slapped her twice. Yikes .
Susan

Papas

Waterlily, telenovelas often deal with some social issues, especially women's issues, especially with Rosy Ocampo. But you have touched on something here, raising kids is not an easy or cost-free thing to do. Especially when men don't want to help much.

Women today do have choices and are exercising them. Some countries, South Korea and Japan, both "traditional" countries, are facing a demographic problem, not enough babies being born.

I believe things will resolve with time, but there will really be some cultural changes and probably a reduced world population... which might not be a bad thing.

PAPAS #13 Part 1

Previously: Fed lured Emiliano to the park promising ice cream; her real motivation is to keep/threaten him from revealing her kiss with Facundo. She leaves Emi, taking Scarlet to the ice cream shop. While she leaves a furious voice mail for Facundo, Scarlet wanders off. Emiliano idly plays with his ID as a masked man approaches. Emi panics, drops his ID and moves quickly to escape. Facundo laughs evilly as he removes the mask after Emi is out of sight.

Unable to find Scarlet, Fed starts to panic. Meanwhile, El Calacas and company come across Emi’s ID but no Emi. So where are Scarlet and Emi??

We open with Fed calling out for Scarlet as El Calacas picks up Emi’s ID..

Tino is trying to reach Emi as Aidé tries to reassure him all is fine.

Clara Luz and Rudolf talk as Pipe shows them a picture he drew. Clara Luz tells him he is quite the artist. They are still with him when Pura comes home. I understood little of their conversation.

Facundo calls Fed but she isn’t paying attention, scratching her head looking for Scarlet. Aidé tells Tino all will be well once Fed explains everything.

Scarlet comes across Emi in the park and she helps him get back on the path. Emi clearly isn’t feeling well as Scarlet looks around nervously. A group of young men walk by; she seems to want to ask them for help but doesn’t.

The police sirens wail as El Calacas and the other scum are all sweetness and life. After the police leave, El Calacas frowns in anger. Next he records a video which he sends to Tino showing him Emi’s ID!!! Tino then calls Emi’s number but El Calcas has the phone, hanging up as Tino is frantic. “Mi hija” Aidé asks worriedly? Tino doesn’t know! Aidé is getting more upset by the minute as is Tino. She tells Tino he is responsible. Tino decides to call El Calacas directly. Naturally, as El Calacas showed him Emi’s ID, Tino is sure he has him. El Calacas plans to bluff, hoping to find Emi in the interim…

Checo is sitting on his fly motorcycle in front of Circe’s house as his scuzzy friend (whom we now know is Chintolo) calls and fills him in. Circe and Uli pull up; Circe with a huge smile asking him what he is doing there. She invites him in as Uli is against it…She tells Checo she will go with him much to Uli’s consternation. She is temporarily saved as Aidé finally reaches Circe. She is on speaker as she tells her Emi and Scarlet are missing. Circe mutters “Scarlet” and is very concerned. Chintolo calls Checo to tell him what’s transpired as Checo looks freaked out.

Diana

PAPAS #13 Part 2

Tino leaves an angry voice mail for El Calacas.

Aidé calls Facundo and tells him Scarlet is missing. He is upset and hangs up immediately calling Fed, demanding to know where Scarlet is! She looks around worried but of course has no clue…

Emi and Scarlet run into an angry German Shepherd but he is being held on a chain by his owner. The children are frightened and move quickly, ending up near a mural. Emi holds his side, feeling worse by the moment.

Lichita is manning the reception desk at Maxiclick holding Chuchito on her shoulder, Chofis by her side. Clara Luz and Rudolf show up. Checo calls Maxiclick and a voice synthesizer disguises his voice. I believe he tells her that the children are in danger.

At the house, Lila and Bertha (Tino’s mother) come home to a crying Circe and a silent Uli.

El Calacas calls Tino wanting (what else) money. Where is Emiliano Tino asks. El Calacas texts him a diagram of where Tino is to meet him. Aidé wants to go just as Clara Luz and Rudolf rush out, telling them about the phone call Lichita received. They all get into the car.

El Calacas demands his minions search for Emi.

Emi is now clutching his side in pain as Scarlet cries, kneeling by his side. She decides to go off for help.

Facundo and Fed are walking down the street. She claims she has everything under control lying through her teeth. She tells him he is accomplice. He keeps asking about Scarlet as she peppers him with insults that he is an imbecile (true, that) as he makes exaggerated expressions of horror. He raises his fist but she is the one who hits him first then he decks her.

Circe tells everyone Emi and Scarlet are missing. Checo is upset and finally looks guilty.

Aidé, Clara Luz and Rudolf wet off as El Calacas waits for Tino. He calmly asks for his son.

Diana

PAPAS #13 Part 3

We see Scarlet in her rainbow-colored sweater with cat insignia looking terrified as she walks alone down the street.

Guzmán stops by the front desk and seems inappropriately taken with Chofis.

Fed gets a call from Guzmán but ignores it as she drives around…

We see black boots and to our relief, we see it is Clara Luz who finds Emi. She tells him who she is and immediately sees he is sick. At that same moment, El Calacas pulls out a gun threatening Tino but Tino manages to knock it out of his hands and runs away.

Fed gets yet another annoying call from Facundo and then Guzmán and ends up throwing her cell out the window in frustration.

Lila turns a corner and runs straight into El Calacas. She starts to talk but immediately sensing her mistake, tries to withdraw but it’s too late!

Tino runs to Emi as Aidé wants to call an ambulance, relief and concern flooding her face.

All of a sudden they look up and see El Calacas with a gun held to Scarlet’s head! Aidé starts to swoon as Tino moves forward. El Calacas starts to aim his gun fully prepared to shoot Scarlet when Fed comes roaring around the corner and runs El Calacas over!! She gets out of the car, raises her eyebrows and says “oops” (I had to laugh).

Fed and the families are at the police station as she tries to explain what happened. She laments the “accident”. The officer says there will be an investigation but seems to believe her story. She will need to be a witness. Guzmán is there smirking throughout the scene.

Tino, Bertha, Lila and Aidé are by Emi’s bedside. “You are very brave” Tino tells him, giving him several kisses. Lila also tells him how brave he is as she hugs Tino on the way out.

Diana

PAPAS #13 Part 4 of 4

Guzmán and Fed are in his car as he drops her off. He is sporting another smirk but I didn’t catch the conversation. Facundo greets her muttering something about the accident.

Tino and a seemingly emotionally exhausted Aidé talk. She talks about the terrible danger the children were in. The gist of it seems to be that she is reconsidering his presence in her life as he seems to be putting them in danger.

Tino argues but I believe he asks her if she wants them to leave the house. She starts having pain and passes out, collapsing on the floor. Tino yells out frantically calling for an ambulance.

What an ending! So glad the children were recovered unharmed and that El Calacas will no longer be a threat. Fed vanquishing El Calacas – who’d have thought?

Kindly add to or correct what I misinterpreted.

Diana I will add things in reply as I read your recap so I recall things. Federica wanted Facundo to hit her so she has an excuse for losing the kids. He doesn't want to hit a girl, she insists then starts calling him names and the final insult you are a bad lover, then she hits him so he knocks her down.

Why are they using so many ch names! I can't keep them straight. Chintolo with his sunken dark bags under his eyes looks like a druggy. Checo told Luchita that the children were in the park.

Papas
The Rudolph/Clara luz discussion was about her going to live in Guadalajara? With her mother. Rudolph sings its praises. Pipe asks about their relationship . They say they are just friends. Rudolph starts to suggest maybe they could be more than friends to Clara Luz. ( I really need to read your recap before I get my memories fogged up with the next 2 TN's I'm watching currently).

Calacas actually let Scarlet go and she ran across the street with him following her. Otherwise Federica would have hit them both. The police told her not to leave town. I'm guessing calacas is dead.

Papas, I always think to myself when a person passes out, call 911 yourself rather than yelling for help! Only reason not to use is if you are doing CPR, which Tino wasn't.

Does Federica live with her cousin? Maybe she is staying there since her car was impounded. I don't understand why she keeps terrorizing Emi. Pretty sure he got the picture and won't tell on her.

Diana, thanks for another excellent recap. This episode was quite interesting, lots to chew on. I did love Fede running over Calacas and saying “oops”. She also made me laugh when she punched out Facundo to get him to hit her and give her a bruise.

Clara Luz and Rudolf with Pipe, Pipe wanted to know if Clara Luz and Rudolf really cared for each other. I think they were mostly noncommittal. Clara Luz still insists she should go to Guadalajara because she had no job prospects where they were. Pura reminds her of the offer to let her stay at her place. And Rudolf mentions himself as one of the things she would miss if she left. Maybe... but no hot romance here right now.
Have they been doing this for more than 16 years???

I think you were quite right about Guzmán's being taken with Chofis. And she is really cute, but come on, 14 years old! Get a grip, guy!
This might be further complicated by Guzmán's scheming. He has said he has plans for Lichita.

Guzmán was smirking at the police station and when he dropped off Fede because he didn't believe a word of her story and he told her so. She said she didn't care.

I am very glad that the situation with the missing children was resolved quickly. I hate it when they drag out something like this over multiple episodes.

Checo seemed really upset and remorseful. Now with el Calacas out of the way, can he redeem himself?

Las hijas Capitulo 17
Part 1/3

Susana is ravaging her house, still searching for the jewelry. Juan arrives just as she says she’s going to the police and tells her he has taken the stuff. How could you? He says he will get them back, Susana is furious, rightfully assumes she needed money for that woman. Jacinto actually slaps him for talking back to his mother.

Graciela demands Ofelia to never scream like that again. Take some time to calm down, OK? She almost sounds genuinely empathetic. Ofelia asks if she can leave early in case she finishes work. Graciela allows it.

Mar is walking in the street, remembering her mother’s words. She calls Juan in distress, tells him about her mother having found the ring. They decide to meet. But Juan… he is all beat up, bloodied nose and wrinkled clothes! WTH! And this can only be his father’s doing. I am positively shocked.
They meet up, as it turns out she has a bruise, also. Juan says they should just go, run away together. Normally I’d say no to this type of madness, but seeing what just happened, I see no reason for them to stick around.

Nick tells Luis he will find a way to talk to Arturo about his recent behavior. Luis appreciates the help, Nick promises he will always be there for him, and offers to help with the new collection, too, since Luis admitted he’s had a hard time focusing.

Ofelia tries to reach Mar yet again, but there is no answer. She finally calls Val, asks about her sister, but Val has no clue. She asks what is wrong, but Ofelia doesn’t say much.

Nick and Arturo are out for lunch, Nick suggests they take the rest of the day off, as they used to do back in the day. Being away for so many years, he missed this so much. It was lonely being in another country, but yeah, there were some lovely ladies around… He was dating someone for a while, but that’s all in the past. Hmmm, how about that? The Patio would like some details, please.
So, how about Val? Wait, did Nick play all this “brother bonding” routine to inquire about Valeria? The Patio is yet again intrigued.
Art says Val is the most complicated woman he’s ever met. She’s strong, independent, and never listens to him. Do you love her, Nick asks. Art doesn’t know. Has he ever loved someone?
Nick thinks love can change everything. He’s read about it, observed it in others. He thinks when you’re not with the one you love you miss them all the time and you can’t function without them. Art can’t say that he feels any of this for now, but he will let his brother know if it happens. Nick thinks this is just a whim for him, what if when Val says yes, he will no longer want her? He thinks he’s obsessed with Val, but what if she’s doing all of this on purpose, just to lock him in? What if instead he spent half the time he gives her on work?
Art wants to change the subject, what about Nick’s love life in the US? Nick takes love seriously; he was in a lot of pain after his last break-up. Because when he falls, he falls hard.
Ok, nice to have this information. So far, the only reason he seems to care about Valeria is because her presence in Arturo’s life is distracting him from his work. Let’s check back in a few more episodes, shall we?

Las hijas Capitulo 17
Part 2/3

Leo talks to a journalist about their new collection… I think? But it quickly becomes obvious that he’s only buying a front-page cover for his wife.
Later he goes to tell Luis that it’s the magazine that insists they want to put their products on the front page. Luis is reluctant to agree, this is not the way they do things, no matter how much money the magazine promised to pay them. Leo says they will get no money out of it, it’s just a way to promote their products. And he already said yes.
Luis is furious, how can he do that without his authorization? Leo says he’s always keeping him to higher standards than his brothers, he can never do anything. Luis disagrees, he always analyses all their proposals, but this time he’s saying no. He needs to cancel whatever deal he’s made with the magazine.

Mar is getting into Juan’s car just as Ofelia sees her and begs her to come out. Mar tells Juan to start the car. And they drive off, while Ofelia screams in the street that they are taking her daughter away. Someone stole her Mar.
Then she runs to Susana’s house and accuses her of everything. They start a screaming match in the middle of the street and Ofelia tells her that Juan took her daughter away. She actually strangles Susana, demanding she tell her where Juan took Mar.
She then changes tactics, she takes Susana’s hand, begging her to help find them. But Susana has no clue, makes it clear she doesn’t like Mar for her son. Jacinto and Val arrive and try to calm them a bit, Val actually scolds Ofelia like if she were a child and asks her to go home now.

Mar and Juan are stopping by for gas. Her phone rings, but she doesn’t want to answer. Juan wants to make sure she really wants to do this. She is sure, she will never forgive her mother for what she has done to her. Juan promises to always protect her. She just needs to trust him.
They are going to the village of Santa Margarita, it’s close by, they can spend the night there and decide what to do next.

Ofelia wants to go to the police, Val tries to stop her. They both know that Mar left willingly. But Ofelia is hysterical, her daughter would have never left on her own.

It’s night time and Leo arrives home to Paula, who is still pouting. He bought her a bracelet and he has another surprise, too. He managed to get her a front-page cover. Paula is very happy, but… didn’t Luis veto this?

Luis is home, having a drink, when Graciela comes into his study to chat. He’s upset because of Leo. Graciela tells him about Ofelia fighting with Mar. As for Leo, she thinks all his problems come from Paula’s influence. Luis concludes that kids always come with problems. Graciela points out that they are still trying to get used to not having their mother around. Luis is not used to it, either.
He goes to his room, looks at a picture of him with his wife and talks to her. Her absence has made everyone in the house go crazy. He then notices the famous perfume and realizes Mar kept her promise and bought it back. He smells it longingly.

Las hijas Capitulo 17
Part 3/3

Ofelia has actually gone to the police, but I think they didn’t pay much attention to her, because she’s now angry with them. Val is sure Mar left willingly; Ofelia lies to her that Juan forced Mar into his car.
They get to their home and when Ofelia doesn’t see the furniture outside she assumes someone stole it. Val lies that the owner agreed to keep it for now, but they can’t go sleep there, it’s not their home anymore. No word about Arturo, though.
Ofelia doesn’t want to go to Amparo’s place, either, there is no room for them there. But Val says they have no choice. Ofelia still whines that she lost her daughter, her only reason of being – Val sees the irony.
They do go to Amparo’s house and we get to hear Ofelia’s sob story again. Juan stole Mar… but it was her fault. She admits she hit Mar.
Val is shocked. This means Mar ran away to be far away from her. She only left because of their mother’s stupid ambition. For once she decided to do what she wanted to do, not what Ofelia asked her to do. Ofelia refuses to believe this, Amparo says Val needs to stop talking like this to her mother, she’s suffered a lot for them. But Ofelia stops her before she can continue, so Val leaves in a huff.
Amparo thinks she should tell Mar and Valeria the truth. At the very least she can speak about her parents’ treatment of her, how they abused and sold her.
No, Ofelia will never share this with her daughters.

Juan and Mar arrive at their destination. It’s a hotel, Mar is afraid it will be too expensive. Juan asks her that from now on she worrr only about being happy. He will take care of the rest… Oh, young stupid love. They kiss.
They book a room.
Juan would have preferred for their mothers to accept their relationship, have a proper wedding that their families could attend. But he promises he will always be there for her, love her till his last breath. Together they will start a new life, far away from all the pain. And he will never hurt her.
Mar knows that being with him is enough, she needs nothing more. It kind of sounds like a vows ceremony and sure enough, right after they are done talking, the clothes come off and they start wrinkling those sheets.
Later they promise one another nobody will ever tear them apart. Famous last words.

The mansion servants gossip about Ofelia and Mar not being back. They speculate that their fight was over some man Mar is seeing.
Luis comes to see Ofelia, he finds out she is not around. And neither is Mar.

Arturo and Nicolas get home and they are both a bit drunk. Camila asks them if they found a model, but no, not yet. She asks Art why he behaves so badly with Priscilla. She is totally his type. Like totally.
Arturo explains that yes, she is a pretty girl, but they are only friends. One never chooses who they fall in love with. Camila says that’s nonsense. They all go up to sleep, the brothers carrying their sister up the stairs.

Val calls Mar, but there is no answer. And she calls her again and again, finally waking her up. When Mar finally answers, Val only wants to know where she is, she wants to come get her. Mar says she has made up her mind, she no longer wants the life that her mother chose for her. She loves Juan and she will stay with him. So don’t search for her again. She hangs up and Val says to herself that this is not the right way to do things.

Adriana your recaps flow so nicely. All I manage is x did this and y said that ( I think) in chronological order. I have an old laptop. I could probably do a better job if I didn't do these on my phone. I'm not a very fast typist though and I pause often to look up vocabulary.

I agree with you about the young lovers running away together. If Juan can afford a room in a hotel he should have been able to afford that perfume. Pawning the jewelry and literally stealing it from his mother was wrong in ever way. Now they have to figure out how to live on his Uber pay. Love's sweet promise will hit reality very soon.

It was interesting to get some of Nick's backstory. I couldn't believe Arturo was asking him for advice in the love department.

Arturo should have taken an extra day and painted the walls and fixed the roof to deal with the damp before moving all their things back in.

I didn't totally follow Leo and the magazine lady's conversation. It sounded like he was negotiating for them to get an exclusive advertising or what is new in the company story listing. I thought he was preempting Arturo's model choice and putting his wife forward as the candidate. For a fashion company I'm sure he should have found her a job as a model in one of the other lines. Do they have a lingerie line, she's got job experience.

Graciela was rather nice this episode

PAPAS

Kat, yes, Scarlet was running across the street, he in pursut when Calacas raised his arm to shoot.

I didn't think Fede lived with Aide, but perhaps is a constant visitor.

Andy, I really appreciate your kind words. Thank you.

"Clara Luz still insists she should go to Guadalajara because she had no job prospects...Pura reminds her of the offer to let her stay at her place. And Rudolf mentions himself as one of the things she would miss if she left. Maybe... but no hot romance here right now. Have they been doing this for more than 16 years???" perfectly summed up the situation. Yes, a bit of a mystery. I see no chemistry between the two. Also speculation only but I get the feeling Pura is unwell. I get the impression she is trying to seamlessly intertwine Pipe's life with theirs.

The way Guzmán looked at Chofis was chilling and I wish Lichita had noticed! I fear you are exactly right in that "This might be further complicated by Guzmán's scheming. He has said he has plans for Lichita". Not good and unsettling.

At least the children are safe now. As for Aidé and Tino's relationship, that remains to be seen.

LAS HIJAS

Adriana Noel, your recap was mesmerizing, I hung on every word.

Ofelia's insanity upon seeing Mar "slip away" was hard to watch. She literally lost her mind and her hitting Mar was unforgiveable. What Juan did was wrong but I was flabbergasted at Jacinto's violent reaction. "Normally I’d say no to this type of madness, but seeing what just happened, I see no reason for them to stick around" is exactly right. Ofelia pushed Mar right into Juan's arms...

Ofelia is remorseful but the damage is done. That said "Amparo thinks she should tell Mar and Valeria the truth. At the very least she can speak about her parents’ treatment of her, how they abused and sold her" was chilling.

I appreciate your relating Nick and Arturo's conversation. "So far, the only reason he seems to care about Valeria is because her presence in Arturo’s life is distracting him from his work" may be somewhat true. I do think Val's resistance is fueling his interest and although intrigued, does not feel he would die without her love. I'm yet to be really impressed with Nick.

Thank you for bringing this to life so vividly. So, where do things go from here?

Diana

Las Hijas

Thank you, Adriana, excellent as always! Wow there's a lot of violence and violent people in this show!

Dad beat Juan until he was bloodied!!!

Ofelia's reaction was completely manic and irrational all episode. That wasn't just controlling and throwing a fit, that was trauma and loss of control. We don't know yet what all happened in Ofelia's past but something snapped in her when Mar left. I think she actually believed what she was saying in the moments that she was saying it; she was making no sense.

I agree that Nic was only trying to bond with Art to get his brother to focus on work, but I still think he's also attracted to Val. The attraction just isn't his front and center motivation in the moment. I am looking forward to seeing this amp up.

HIJAS

Thanks, Adriana. What a fun read! Thank you.

“Oh, stupid young love.” says it all but the young only learn from the stupid mistakes everyone else sees coming so clearly. Ah, the human condition! LOL

Too bad that Ofelia’s lips were self-sealed when she got pregnant and she will not tell her daughters how her father beat her and her parents sold her. Her histrionics in the street and her indefatigable drive could be better understood.

Yikes! Mar and Juan both bore the bruises of their parents’ reaction on their faces. How long until they realize how expensive adulting is?

We do need a surprise pregnancy. Will it be Mar? Birth control, anyone?

Hijas #17

Great work, Adriana.

Ofelia is off her rocker. Isn't Mar at least 18? She eloped and was not stolen. and I wish the police had actually laughed in her face. If what we heard is true Ofelia is repeating her parents' abuse. She needs a shrink.

Paula would not be a good model for the family business. By today's standards she is too old and if she has the lurid past we think she did that would bite the Portillas' company's arse right in the coffers. If Leo thinks he can make this happen he is delusional.

Miss Priss is equally wrong, as she looks like the spoiled brat she is and Arturo needs to get her out of his hair.

I completely agree that Juan did a monumentally stupid thing but violence solves nothing.

Novelas have been seriously deficient in contraceptive PSA's.

Well, back to my recapping task. After this one I will need a break so I have more time to comment.

Las Hijas

Cher Adriana,, wow, merci for yet another dynamic report on every detail of this surprising episode . Things are spiraling out of control . Have O and her daughters hit bottom or will things get worse.?

So, did Luis say no to whatever deal Leo made for Paula to model, but Leo went home and told her that " Hey, you're going to be a model" . Paula's puppet . This guy will do anything to please her...and get rewarded. Sit!! Beg!!! Ugh

O hits Mar for accepting the ring ; Jacinto beats up Juan for stealing his mother's jewelry , so these two crazy kids take off. What could go wrong ? No possessions, no place to live . Off in the car on the highway to heaven . Well, they have done the deed...now what ?...a pregnancy? Yikes...frying own >>>fire.

Nick is a little too interested in Art's interest in Val. Art doesn't seem to take anything seriously . He buys the house . Val won't accept it . Okay. He isn't in any hurry to choose a model for this big new clothing line . Just pick somebody. Pick Val. See where that goes . Do something . His conversation with Nick made me feel that he is not totally head over heels for Val. I think that Val intrigues him because unlike other girls , she keeps resisting his youthful charm...and money . I definitely think that Val and Nick are endgame .

Luis seems To truly care and worry about O and her daughters and their circumstances. Maybe he will offer foolishly proud Val a job the company , and she will turn out to be a business genius.

I love how practical the recappers and commenters are as they marvel at these characters' bad decisions and crazy antics . Susan

Papas

Dear Diana, thank for that detailed recap that helped me understand what was happening .
Andy and Kat, thank you for the extras.

I have to get clues from the visual since I don't understand the dialogue. I watch facial expressions and body language . Checco did look worried and maybe contrite ..maybe. Guzman has a constant bored smirk so its hard to read him.. He definitely looked at Cho with a strange look on his face . Maybe he had a sudden inspiration about how he could use her in whatever his scheme is . I would hate if he has a pervy interest in such a young girl. Ugh .

Facundo doesn't go looking for his daughter ???? Was he even worried about her?

Africa (Fede) appears to be playing this odd character with tongue in cheek .

Oops , indeed. So, is big , bad Skull really dead?

Is something physically wrong with Aide, or was she just overcome by emotion ? Susan

PAPAS

Thank you for your lovely words Susan.

I agree Checo was panicked and upset.

Guzman is up to no good, that much is for certain!

Facundo did seem worried about Scarlet, well, at least a little bit. Another loser (this is full of them isn't it??)

Great observation about Africa playing her "odd characcter tongue in cheek!"

I don't know what is wrong with Aide, stress or something else??)

I will put some brief highlights up tonight.

Diana

Papas
Susan, the dialogue by the "Ch's" ( Luchita et al) is fast dialogue and a lot of slang I think. I'm doing a lot of guessing also. Their story isn't as appealing as some of the others so I don't bother looking up words. On top of that I keep playing catch up on the other 3 TN's I'm watching. I really hate the midnight showing of the one I'm only recapping. At least when they moved it to that slot they dropped a Friday night episode so I'm only doing 4 per week.

Papas

Kat, you are doing an amazing job of recapping . I am impressed . I gave up on Sed Venganza even before it was moved to midnight . It had too many awful people , and I always cringed when the scary, awful Fernanda came on the screen . I couldn't believe that the galan slept with her , so I gave up on that one. Susan
