Caray, Caray!

PAPAS #38 Part 1

Previously, Tino gently murmurs that he has something important to tell Aidé but before he can say anything, they are interrupted by the perpetually annoying Facundo. Just then, Aidé’s phone rings and the caller accuses Facundo of being responsible for Ponce’s disappearance. On a street in another neighborhood. Checo is waylaid and grabbed by Chintolo, who pushes his gun into his stomach as he threatens him, mentioning Circe.

As Tino and Aidé double team Facundo, the liar continues to protest his innocence. When Fed pushes her way in, an angry Aidé asks why she is there; Fed answers by implicating Facundo. With that, to our shock, Facundo proceeds to announce to astonished Aidé and Tino that he and Fed are amantes!!!

Fed’s head snaps to the other side in shock and horror. She slaps him hard as Aidé and Tino wordlessly stare. Fed denies but then Aidé lambastes them for their treachery. Facundo then says he is responsible for Ponce but that Fed was his accomplice. Poor Scarlet and Uli are standing in the next room, Scarlet in tears.

Chintolo moves his gun up to Checo’s head. Checo is desperate and tries the old “there’s someone behind you”. Chintolo falls for it for a moment but turns back quickly, overpowering Checo when he tries to grab the gun.

Lichita talks to an unreactive Chofis. Chano comes in and goes up to Chofis hugging and kissing his daughter, but she pushes him away. Chofis then gets up and leaves. Lichita thanks him for his help. They high five and fist bump Chano makes a big deal over sweet Chuchito and Lichita can’t help but smile.

Clara Luz and Rudolf (who is in a bar) exchange a series of texts and voice mails. The source of much of the discussion is Felipe. They are free Clara Luz asserts but it is clear both are frustrated with the way things are going between them.

Aidé throws Fed and Facundo out never to return. Fat chance. Facundo seems to say he will fight for custody of Scarlet. I am innocent Fed protests vociferously. Tino throws Facundo out. Aide keeps holding her chest, clearly not feeling well. Fed appeals to Tino to no avail. Aidé’s is having difficulty breathing, her heart likely the culprit. Tino tells Rina to call an ambulance.

Lila breaks in on Circe and Ui.

We see Aidé in bed being attended by the doctor. He says she doesn’t have to go to the hospital but must take care of herself. Uli and Circe come in and Tino reassures them as does the doctor. (I thought it very strange that neither ran up to their mother to hold and comfort her). Scarlet does just that. Emi comes in with Lila, very concerned about Aidé. Aidé is grateful for her family. Scarlet loves her mami.

Facundo and Aidé are having a screaming blowout when Guzmán comes in. She tells him what happened.

PAPAS #38 Part 2

In bed, Aidé thinks about Facundo and Fed being together. Tino reassures her. He pinches her cheek as they snuggle.

Circe cries that her mother might die and Lila reassures her, saying her mother will be with her for many years. Lila tells her she can’t find any leads on her mother. Circe hatches some sort of plan involving pictures of her mother. “Wow” Lila says obviously impressed.

Bertha and Tino talk and I believe it was regarding whatever secret Guzmán knows.

Chano brings Fed some documents. She is in a tight but very pretty blue leather dress. She flirts with him as he nervously tries to escape; she makes him repeat a ridiculous rooster call. She then paws him and makes a heart sign.

Clara Luz and Lichita talk about Chofis. Chano asks Lichita if she has heard from Checo, she says no as Fed listens around the corner.

A beat up Checo is in a chair, mouth taped. We see Ponce in a box! Big hearted Chintolo gives him a drink of water.

Circe natters to Gina and Lorena about Checo when her phone rings. It is Checo with a gun to his head held by black fingernail polish Chintolo. Voice shaking, Checo goes off script, trying to warn her but Chintolo hits him in the temple with a gun.

Fed tries to say she is pure as the driven snow. No not quite. She does protest her innocence; she is a victim!! Then she hands Tino the papers that she took from the files that Guzmán wanted him to sign. He is very grateful until she grabs his arm in a much too enthusiastic manner which makes him grimace.

Tino’s phone rings and it’s Circe. As she talks, he stands up, alarmed.

We next see Fed, a nervous Chano and Tino talking with Circe. She is very afraid for Checo! Chano frets, as well he should. Fed rushes out and Rudolf comes in and then tries to calm Chano down.

PAPAS #38 Part 3

El Calacas finally appears (in all his braided non-glory) and does not seem happy with Chintolo. Tied and gagged, Checo has a face of pure agony as he freaks out…

Circe begs her friends to help her.

Guzmán tells Aidé he needs to talk to her in person.

Tino, Chano and Rudolf are hiding behind some bushes; we see Chintolo come out from a doorway across the street. Tino lays out a plan. All of a sudden, They see Circe approaching on the other side of the street. Tino is frantic!

Felipe sits down and talks to Clara Luz. She talks about Pipe and he manages to get her to smile and laugh.

We see that Tino has foolishly approached Chintolo who easily overpowers him and drags him as well as Circe inside the building.

Igor is snooping around Tino’s office when Lichita catches him. She manages to get him out of the office when Clara Luz arrives.

Aidé has a visitor. Dámaso. Their conversation involved Fed but I couldn’t make out the words.

Chintolo has his gun trained on Tino’s throat as he motions for Circe to sit in the chair. Chintolo finds the drive in Tino’s pocket but Tino manages to keep him at bay for the moment. Then Chintolo grabs the gun as Circe yells, Checo freaking out in the other room. Fed arrives outside and recalls a conversation she had with Chintolo in jail. All of a sudden, we hear the gun go off!

The doors suddenly burst open and the police arrive! Chintolo is shot dead as Circe cowers in Tino’s arms. We see the police staring at Checo who is then untied. A beside himself Chano watches as Checo and Circe hold each other. Fed is holding Ponce, who seems to be fine despite his terrible experience.

We see Clara Luz and Felipe. She has flowers and smiling turns as he ties a scarf around her eyes. He brings her to a set where there is a stage, two chairs, wine and a lit background. I gather Clara Luz must have told him about someone she admires as there is a woman standing there whom she seems delighted to see. She sits down after hugging Felipe with gratitude.

PAPAS #38 Part 4 of 4

Uli is on a stage (I imagine at school) with Gina when she comes out wearing a mask similar to the one his attacker wore. He freaks out as she removes the mask and stares.

Guzmán appears at Aide’s where he begins with talking about Fed and Facundo. Then he utters one line, the last of the night which I didn’t hear. Did anyone hear what it was?

Will Fed somehow be able to convince Tino Facundo was lying? Good luck in trying to convince Aidé!

Checo (and Tino) are still vulnerable as El Calacas is still on the loose.

Kindly fill in what I missed and/or got wrong. I can’t wait to see what everyone has to say.

Las hijas, capitulo 41
Part 1/3

Mar and Juan meet in the street but don’t get to talk because the driver interrupts them. Mar wipes away a tear and goes back into the car. Sad love song plays in the background.

Rocio tells Ofelia she no longer trusts her. She is only pretending to help, but surely Luis sent her, Graciela told her everything. Ofelia says she should not trust that woman, she is the only one willing to help her. Rocio insists she will no longer believe her. Ofelia says she will be sorry, then leaves.

Mar gets home, still shaken up after having crossed paths with Juan. Paula asks what is going on, Mar says she ran into someone, but that’s all in the past now. When Paula insists, Mar explains that every time she sees Juan, it hurts her so much. Oh, Paula is so sorry, does this mean she doesn’t really love Luis? Mar assures her she does and denies that Luis offered her something more, like money, to get her to marry him. He’s just a great person.

Arturo finds a letter Nick wrote, explaining that he locked them inside the cabin on purpose, because they need to talk.
Val is acting like a caged animal (which she literally is), tries to break free by forcing the door with a knife. Art thinks they should just talk about their relationship, offers a glass of wine. Val won’t talk; she prefers to pout and stay far away from him.
Art insists she needs to open up, Val says he simply doesn’t get it, everything started when he asked her sister to meet him in that hotel room. Art says he didn’t even know her at the time, but Val points out that he did know her, he just didn’t notice her. She fell in love with him from day one, when she met him at the gym. He never had eyes for her, but she only went to that hotel to see him. And she got humiliated. She’d felt pretty that day, putting on a dress and some make-up. And he ruined it all. He wasn’t even there, Nick was and treated her so badly.
Art insists it wasn’t his fault, but Val calls him selfish. Art can’t believe she’d talk this after everything that he’s done for her. Val screams that she’ll never trust him, no matter what.
Art says it’s better he never saw her that day, because he fell in love with the real Valeria; the one who jumped in the car of a drunk man just to save his life, the woman who listened to him, who is so strong but she always keeps her dad’s memory alive. That’s why he fell in love with her. Because she is everything that he’s not and everything that he needs. I gotta say, as far as love declarations go, this is pretty spot on. If Val keeps saying no, call me, Arturo.

Alone by the waterfall, Nick is “talking” to his mother. He will make sure that his brother doesn’t suffer, he always took care of things. He was never weak or sentimental, he is cold and has strategic thinking, doesn’t care about being alone and was always able to be on his own. Alone.
Now, see, this is less swoon worthy. Is he saying this to convince himself that he doesn’t need love? Where does this hero complex about having to take care of everyone come from? Was he raised to believe that he has to be his siblings’ keeper?

 

Las hijas, capitulo 41
Part 2/3

Mar is in her room, looking at her ultrasound, when Ofelia barges in without knocking. Mar scolds her, Ofelia realizes she’s hiding something. Mar hides the picture under her pillow, accuses her mom of insisting too much. She leaves the bed, then gets startled when Ofelia sits next to the picture. She explains to her that she’s grown up, she’s married and has her own life. And sometimes she’s very rash and Luis has noticed this. Ofelia asks if she’s ashamed of her. She’s always given her everything. Mar apologizes and hugs her mother.

The crew asks Nick about Arturo and Valeria. He hopes they are fixing things, they will be locked up the time they solve their issues. And if they don’t then they’re not in love and will be able to move on.
Who died and made him the master of everything? I mean, really… Does he want to push Val and Art together so he doesn’t have to confront how he feels about Val or the fact that his own emotions could cause a conflict with his brother? Is this his way to keep Val at a safe distance?

Ofelia tells Amparo she is sure Mar is lying. Why tell Luis her secrets and not her? Nobody trusts her and she does everything for everyone. She is in charge, Mar won’t be able to push her away. Amparo asks her to give Mar some time, stay away from the Portillas even. No way, Ofelia protests, if she finds out the big secret she will have all the power. She won’t waste this opportunity.

It's the next day I think and Art and Val are still not OK. Val says she will stop thinking of him, all she wants is for Nick to open that door. Art says she loves him, why won’t she accept it. If they can’t be together, neither of them will be happy. She needs to give their relationship a chance.
As Art keeps pleading, Nick is back to open the door. Val says no again, Art says I love you. With Nick watching from behind a bush, Val leaves the cabin but stops mid-way. Art follows her, grabs her waist and they kiss. Nick looks disheveled, stares for a while, but eventually leaves.
Val makes Art promise this is for real. Art says I love you again and they go back to kissing. She says I love you too, hey hug, wonder why they took this long to talk. Nick helped them be honest with each other. Val wants to take advantage of every moment from now on.

Pedro tells Nick the crew is packed and ready to go. Are they done taking pictures? Nick says yes, they have everything they need and no, he’s not sad, just tired. Val and Art are out now and approaching, holding hands.
Pedro leaves and Art hugs Nick and says thank you for what he has done. Val also smiles, Nick winks at her.
I really don’t get how they are done taking pictures if they stopped working the day before and were supposed to resume after Art and Val solved their issues. So much nonsense.

Mar and Paula bond again, Paula is still in so much pain. Imagine there are people who think she’s making it all up. She doesn’t want to say who it is, poor thing, but Mar insists… It’s Ofelia.

Juan is going to work, he’ll hurry to be back so they can go out. Camila has never been to a restaurant serving quesadillas… oh, wait, she’s just joking. They kiss and he’s on his way.
Luis has modified his will, and I think he created a trust fund, but it doesn’t say who for. He calls Camila, who pretends everything is doing great. He invites her to lunch.


 

Las hijas, capitulo 41
Part 3/3

Still at the cabin, Art and Val are in pure bliss. Val asks Art not to play with her, she won’t be able to handle it. He promises he’ll never do that, he will protect her. Don’t be afraid. And kiss.

Later, Art asks Nick why he helped them. Nick says he only wanted to see them happy, this is their second chance. Val deserves this and more. Art notices Nick lost a lot of money on this trip and wants to pay him back. Nick says the money is the least important and they hug again. Val arrives to join the love fest.

Ofelia is back home, and Mar tells her she’s upset because of what she told Paula. How can she say such horrible things? Ofelia is shocked Mar would take Paula’s side. Mar says she can’t fight with Paula, she’s part of her family now. Ofelia warns Mar not to trust that woman, she is manipulating her. But Mar thinks her mom is only causing her problems. Ofelia is saddened, she hopes she’ll never feel bad over how she’s treating her. A woman going through abuse doesn’t act like this.
How would she know it, Mar inquires… she’s known women who have gone through this and they don’t behave like this, Ofelia sadly explains. Mar insists Paula needs their support. When she leaves, Ofelia sigh… there are so many things her daughter doesn’t know about her.

Arturo is taking pictures of Val on his phone. He thinks she’s beautiful.
The crew is ready to go. Val goes to search for Nick. She finds him in a kiosk, and they talk about how Val wanted to strangle him for what he did. But now she’s so thankful, she and Art only got back together thanks to him. She touches his arm in appreciation, says he’s a great person. He says he’s only trying to be a good brother.
Val notices how similar they are, both willing to do everything for their siblings. They hug and Nick is oh so taken still. They fist bump, their signature move and it’s cute, but so useless, since Val is oblivious about his feelings and he is just an idiot at this point.

Ofelia confronts Paula, her daughter is naïve enough to trust her, but she’s no fool. Paula can’t believe Ofelia can be Mar’s mother, they are so different.

Luis and Camila are eating together, and she behaves as she hasn’t eaten in a week. He notices and asks if she’s really doing OK. He now knows how her brothers asked her to leave the house and he doesn’t agree, she can come back whenever she wants.
Camila says she will only return if Mar leaves. Luis can’t do that. No, he will never forget her mother, Cecilia, but he won’t go back on his decision.
Camial is upset, she thought her father had changed his mind and wanted to fix things. She storms out of the fancy restaurant.

Ofelia knocks on the bedroom door, but Mar is not around. So she starts snooping (yet again) and finds the ultrasound picture. And then Mar arrives. Boom!

Circe is going to set up a friendbook profile and they will post photos of Lilas mom in the hopes of someone recognizing her and finding her.

Uli freaked out about the mask and I think he determined it was someone from the school who molested him. Could it be the principal? He's really the only teacher we've seen so far. It seems this school has a lot of free time between classes as they are always roaming about and not in class.

Too late for me to feel anything for Bossy Boss Nico. First, he forces his sister to leave the house with nothing then he locks Art and Val in the cabin. What’s up with his need to not care for but meddle with the livds of his sibllngs? Val’s admission of her true feelings for Art and their reconciliation left me at a YAWN. I will not fault Oka Giner but I will fault the script.

Time for Ofelia to be taken down a peg or two (like thrown out the front door) after snooping in her daughter’s and LUIS’S room. Has she never heard the saying about biting the hand that feeds you?

Mar and Luis continue to be the highlights.

Dear Diana, thank you so much for capturing every moment . For some reason, I missed seeing some things you mentionned. I saw poor little Ponce in the box , but I didn't see him after the police shot Chin . Also, I didn't see Chin take the drive from Tino's pocket. (I am sometimes doing other things while I watch.

I can't figure out what connection Fed has with Chin . I remember the time she talked to him when he was in jail . I wonder if Fed is also connected to Braids.

I am not surprised that Fed started flirting with Chano. She is a maneater. ( Shout out to Hall and Oates)

Did Damaso go to school with Aide and all? Why is he suddenly buzzing around her ? ( Namaste!). Susan

The Friendbook page makes sense. In thinking it over, that would certainly be the logical first step.

Your theory on Uli's attacker being from the school is an excellent one. I don't recall seeing the principal so will have to keep my eyes open...It would be terrible if someone entrusted with the students' well being would be the perpetrator.

I now kind of understand what's going on with Val. If you have ever dated a player, you are always afraid that you are being played, so that evidently is why Val has been such a pill no matter what Art does to help her. Okay, I guess I get her sour attitude , but ....

Nick acts like an older brother .( I suppose because I don't have a brother , and I am the mother of girls. ) I have known people who are always taking care of other people . One of them used to tell me " Everybody wants me to make it happen for them"...and he usually did.

It was funny watching Cami wolf down the expensive lunch when she had no appetite for the food Susana served up.

Well, Luis , welcome back from the peaceful, love!y vaca .

Mar is a babe in the woods, and Paula knows how to manipulate her. Luis, on the other hand,is kind and caring . He treats her like a daughter, not a wife.Meanwhile, O is not about to let anyone take away control of her pretty baby from her. I guess we all knew that O was going to find that ultrasound . Will she do the math ?

So, now we know that O was abused. Was it by her husband ? Susan

Frankly, I did not understand the Fed/Chintolo conversation at all. To be honest, I don't even recall it. You are right, I think Fed is mixed up with Calacas somehow...

Yes, Damasco went to school with the gang. I didn't understand what he and Aide spoke about. He seems to have a bit of a crush on her...

Well Nico's plan worked. Only too well. Do I feel for "Bossy Boss Nico" (love it Jarifa)? Nopis, I don't. I've felt all along Arturo is just a better match. I also think he is a kinder, gentler person (he was the only one who went after Camila and has tried to help her. Not that she deserves it but...) Nico is a bit too righteous and a shade too cold and unyielding.

Ofelia can ferret out a snake (so to speak). She has Paula pegged perfectly. Too bad Mar got drawn in so easily but then again she is a trusting, loving soul. When she asked how Ofelia would have known about being abused, I wish Ofelia would have told her (and us) what her dark secret is.

I like that Mar always seems to brighten at the sight of Luis. It doesn't strike me as a father/daughter relationship but one that is developing into a true friendship.

I wonder what would have happened betwen Mar and Juan had the driver not come up.

Susan I think Damaso did go to school with them. He is like her spiritual advisor now. I wonder if he's the twins dad since I doubt it is Guzman. Those are the only 2 likely players we have seen this far. Guzman would lose his trusted position in the company if he were so he would keep the knowledge to himself.

Thanks Diane, I enjoyed reading your recap. I’m glad they were able to rescue Checo without us having to wait another day! And Ponce is rescued! I wonder if Fed will try to take credit for the rescue!

I think Clara Luz and Rudolf will end up together but I really like Felipe.

Poor Chofis. I feel she’s going to get more and more withdrawn. I’m trying to remember if Lichita ever talked to Clara Luz about Guzman. Clara Luz would tell her the truth and I don’t think she’s a fan of Guzman. There’s a lot of hurting children in this story.

I’m not 100% sure but I think at the end Guzman said it’s not Fed and Facundo but Fed and Tino. I hope Tino rescued that thumb drive!

Thanks Adriana, that was a great recap. I found the episode kind of annoying. Especially Nick locking them in the cabin and Val refusing to talk or eat. That gets old fast. But Nick had said Arturo was the only one who could get her to smile like that so I guess he was helping them. But I still see Nick as a better fit for her.

Ofelia is just too much with all her snooping. I hope Mar really tells her off tonight but I don’t see that happening. But I wish Mar had taken her advice about Paula. I hate to think what Paula would do with any information Mar gives her. She just seems to take pleasure in everyone’s pain.

I guess Camila doesn’t like Susana’s cooking. Or maybe she’s used to the finer table settings and being waited on. But she was definitely hungry. So her terms for coming home is her dad has to dump Mar. I don’t see that happening. But they’re all going to freak out about the baby! I wonder if Ofelia thinks it’s Luis’ baby. Or is she happy because Mar didn’t have the abortion. I think she thinks it’s Luis’. I’m sure she sees this as never ending luxury for all of them!

Adriana, excellent as always. Loved your comment about Arturo's love declaration. But I prefer Nick most of the time. I really fear Arturo may be a player and once the thrill of the chase is over his eye may wander years down the line. It could be I've od'd on Peniche since he's been the protagonist in 2 prior shows I e watched and I'm tired of him already, especially this supposed 30 something character that is is 15 years too old to play. I still wish the writers had made al the sons 10 years older and Luis and Cecilia at the 35 year point in their marriage. I'm just too pragmatic so the absurdity gets to me.

So it's a 2 hour episode tonight. I may have to split it up as it usually takes me until 11 or later to finish recapping the 9 p.m. showing.

I like Felipe too; he has a great smile. That said, I also think Clara Luz and Rudolf are end game.

"There’s a lot of hurting children in this story" is exactly right. Poor Chofis! I think we're all hoping she confides in someone. Anyone. And of course, Emi is living through a true nightmare.

PAPAS #39 Part 1

Previously: The police raided Chintolo’s hidey hole. Ponce and Checo were recovered; Tino and Circe freed and Chintolo shot dead, now residing (likely in darkness) in the afterlife.

At school, Uli had another flashback of terror when seeing Gina wearing a mask similar to the monster who molested him.

Facundo shockingly admitted to his affair with Fed, which she vehemently denied. Confronting Tino, Guzmán seemed to say it was not Fed and Facundo who had the affair, it was Fed and Tino!!!

In the aftermath of the raid, Chano thanks Tino as does Circe, calling him her “papa”. Fed holds Ponce (giving him little brushes of affection). Tino and Fed talk, she says Facundo invented the story of them being together. Chano brings up El Calacas…

Guzmán and Aidé continue to talk, he seems to be badmouthing Tino.

Augusto and Bertha have a nosh and a bit of flirtation. Rina comes in and tells them Guzmán is there. Bertha is not happy.

Clara Luz and Felipe’s guest of honor sings as they enjoy a pasta dinner and wine, replete with background music. It seems to be getting a bit romantic. (I like Felipe I can’t help but add).

Checo and Circe are talking, she is crying as he worries about her mother’s reaction. She ends up hugging Tino as Fed gives a wave as she hurries off to work. Tino gets a text from Bertha that Guzmán is there. Brenda goes to where Guzmán and Aidé are talking and seems to say something about the doctor wanting her to take it easy. Guzmán gets up…Brenda tries to find out if any tea was spilled. All of a sudden Lila, Scarlet, Uli and Emi come in. Aidé immediately notices something is up with Uli and asks him if he is all right. No one wants to upset her…

It looks like Guzmán might be in Aidé’s bedroom. He and Fed text and he opens a small dresser drawer although we aren’t privy to what he sees or does.

Tino comes in and has a grand announcement. He calls Scarlet up to the front of the room, putting his hands over her eyes. One, two, there, and Ponce appears! She is overcome with joy at having her beloved pet back.

Checo and Chano come home. Checo has on sunglasses which Lichita removes, seeing his black, blue and very bruised eye. What happened she asks? I’m not quite sure what little they told her but Checo asks his mother to trust him. Lichita makes a face but she is relieved her son is back. She thanks Chano and sort of smiles. This does not go unnoticed as Checo smiles and gives his father an “attaboy” by laughing and hitting his father on the arm.

PAPAS #39 Part 2

Clara Luz and Felipe come home. He tells her what a wonderful time he had as he twirls her under his arm. They are startled by Rudolf, sitting on the couch, making his presence known. He deliberately messes up Felipe’s name and Felipe then returns the favor. Clara Luz and Rudolf get into an argument at the end of which Rudolf puts his keys on the table. Felipe wants to talk with Clara Luz but she tells him it’s not the right time. She is confused and needs time to figure everything out; she brings up her love for Pipe. They hug it out.

Back at the house, Circe seems to give Aide a selective Reader’s Digest version of what happened. Guzmán says something and leaves. Scarlet is delighted to have her Ponce back. “Te quiero” Tino tells the sweet child. Later he tries to reassure Aidé when Guzmán texts him.

Poor Chofis is at the worktable with Guzmán a few feet from her; she is clearly uncomfortable. I think he tries to reassure he has no bad intentions (scum) and finally gets her laughing. He asks if she has someone special in her life. She looks a bit shy and answers Oliver, but clarifies he is her friend, not her novio. What does he have up his sleeve? Guzmán gets a text from Tino that he is there to see him.

Circe has a heart to heart with her mother about Checo. I’m unsure if Checo is going to be allowed to continue to work at Maxiclick.

Guzmán and Tino have a talk; Tino calls him on his deception. Guzmán pushes Tino to the point where Tino lunges at him, hands around his neck.

The kids are gathered, (“brothers and sisters” per Circe) and singing. The fun continues as they add dance moves. Circe texts Fed something about Uli.

Lichita introduces Chofis to Circe and Uli…Uli heads for the caf and Circe heads for Fed’s office as Igor sneers in the hall. Tino and Guzmán are still arguing, Tino calling him a traitor. Fed continues to snow Circe. Oh no…Circe pulls out the device (however did SHE get it?) and just as she starts to hand it to Fed, Igor intercepts her and grabs it out of her hand! Felipe talks to Tino as loathsome Igor runs and hands the device over to Guzmán!!

Rudolf is at a club with one of the women from the other day and orders a shot of tequila. He tells her something and she squeals and hugs her.

Augusto and Bertha are out for a bite. He tells her something I didn’t get but might be important so I’m noting this as a placeholder.

Uli gets some comfort from his parents as they hug. Rina appears with a box and she and Aidé head upstairs. Circe comes out and teasingly tells Uli she doesn’t want to share her father. This is a special moment Tino says seriously. “Super heavy” Circe says and asks him” what’s the big secret??” Aidé then calls them upstairs.

PAPAS #39 Part 3 of 3

Everyone has their blue shirts on as the family gets their picture taken. Aidé is happy and clapping as Tino tries to look happy for her sake but is clearly concerned. Circe and Uli grab Tino as they want to continue their conversation. Lila stares at them curiously.

Felipe shows up at Clara Luz’s. He picks up a blue notebook (was it Pipe’s?). He kisses her as her eyes widen in surprise. Then she kisses him back and they share another kiss.

Tino is in the bedroom talking with Uli and Circe. He talks about their relationship and about his children. He musters up his courage and tells them “I am your father of the heart but I am not your biological father”. Circe and Uli stare at him and then each other…

The earthshattering secret is also being shared elsewhere. Guzmán hands Aidé an envelope which contains a DNA test result. It seems to confirm that Tino is NOT the father of her children. Aidé looks as though she is about to hyperventilate.

I apologize but there was much dialogue I just could not interpret. Also, without the ability to rewind and rewatch, I have to write quickly in order to try and keep up so I don’t have any luxury of time to try and figure out what was said as one scene quickly changes to another. Kindly add if you can, your comments are always appreciated.

Las hijas # 42-43 part 1

Mar enters her room where her mother says you continued your pregnancy. Mar tries to bluff her way out, what are you talking about. O shows her the ultrasound and Mar says it's not mine. O asks, then why is your name on the picture. Mar justly gets mad and asks what are you doing going through my things. O doesn't understand why Mar no longer confides in her (let me count the ways!)

Cami returns home to Susana sweeping the floor(admittedly she does get into her housework) Cami says she went out to see her dad. Susana is all in favor of children spending time with their parents. We'd love to meet him, invite him over, this is your house too. I'll make a special dinner for him...Cami is not enthused so she excuses herself to escape to her and Juan's room. Susana wants her to watch a telenovela with her ( sorry I didn't recognize which one, but a black horse was in it). Cami doesn't watch novelas. I think Susana offered to get her up to speed on it, but Cami graciously says I'm tired. Tomorrow would be better.

Mar dies count the ways. Don't you remember how you reacted when I told you about the baby? I needed your help and support and you called it a problem, etc. O says that's because the news surprised her. Mar tells her she will not have any influence over her baby and takes the picture back.

Leo is wheeling and dealing on the phone putting himself forward as the power behind the throne I think. Luis comes in and Leo crows about the deal he has going. Luis tells him how can I count on you when you can't even manage the household while I was on honeymoon. Leo doesn't know what he's talking about. How could you kick Cami out of the house. That wasn't me, it was Nick. Luis says but you allowed it to happen. You want me to believe in you but I can't.

O says this is my grandchild and I'll love it with all my heart. Mar says, ah now you will love it. So now you don't think my life is lost because of the pregnancy. O wants to support her when she tells Luis about the baby. Mar shocks her when she says he knows it all, I never lie. I resolved my life without you. She hands her mom the Ultrasound pic and leaves. O kisses the photo.

Luis comes home from work. Mar is sitting in their room. He asks are you coming down for dinner? She doesn't want to see mom. He tells her she needs to stay calm for baby's sake. Well go out to dinner in the city ( or maybe to a work function) . Then he needs to talk to Arturo. Mar reminds him he also needs to remain calm because of his heart. He agrees, I'll talk to him calmly, as he sends him a text.

Arturo delivers Val back to her barrio as the text comes through. Val can't offer him anything at her house, not even a seat. He says, I need to go home and talk to dad about work anyhow. They kiss goodbye.

Jacinto comes home from work, tired and worn.. Susana of course complains about no help and he blows up again. She weeps, she wouldn't even watch a novela with me. We have nothing in common (duh). Jacinto brings up when they lived with his folks again but I didn't understand it all. Was it a difficult time for them. I bet Susana was hated by her suegra. Susana fears if Juan and Cami have children they will never see their grandchildren. Wah, wah. Just think sweet Mar would have let you and hah, you are losing out on the first grand.

Dinnertime at the mansion. Ofi seats herself. She will wait to eat until Mar comes down. Graciela says she and Luis are eating in their room.( I guess I misinterpreted the previous convo). O has the gall to suggest it's because their are too many people at meals, but of course herself excluded.

Luis at his desk is visited by Arturo. The topic is Cami again. Arturo is in total agreement with how his dad feels. He offered her help and she refused. Dad thinks he should have tried harder. Arturo gets upset and says it was also your mess to fix, but you went off on your honeymoon and didn't resolve things with her. So much for staying calm, Luis.
 

Las hijas #42-43 part 2

Nick returns to his apartment, moping about losing Val. A montage of flashbacks to his interactions with her ensues.



Cami gives Juan a hard time for coming home late ( he had an airport run and the traffic was horrific but he got paid well). He asks us she hungry. No she ate with Dad. Juan asked how did that go. Terrible, all he did was defend his marriage to that stupid Mar. Juan hugs her and says he's sorry things went so badly.

Luis is quietly leaving with a suitcase but Mar awakens and wishes him safe travels. How did your discussing Arturo go. Bad. Nick is next on his list to talk to. He just wants things to be ok with his kids. Mar tells him that mana knows about the pregnancy. He asks do you need me to talk to her. Mar says she has it under control. Luis leaves with a thoughtful look on his face

Arturo brings Val a nice bouquet of flowers. He missed her so much. Her also. The gossips of the barrio witness their kiss.
Another discussion between Mar and mom. When will O wear the same dress again. Every day another dress....

Leo and Paula. She doesn't want to go down for breakfast and see that insufferable Ofelia. She tells him he gets a respite by going to the office while she has no escape being stuck at home all day. Then she says O insinuated things about her rape. Leo is livid. She is playing him like a marionette. He needs to find them that house since she is uncomfortable around O.

Mar and I get into a shouting match. Mar: When did you ever say you loved me? ofi: I always did everything for you to turn you into a famous model. Most of the points have been said before. Leo and Paula comes downstairs and asks what is all the yelling about. O hugs Mar and says nothing which Mar goes along with.

Luis is now confronting Nick about his treatment of Cami. Nick says it's what you wanted, for her to grow up. It's what you did to me sending me away from the family for all those years. ( But you weren't sent with only the clothes on your back, you went away to college all expenses paid). Luis says it's different, she is a woman. Ok, negative points to Luis on that response. Nick also throws his marriage in his face Luis grabs his suitcase and storms out.

Leo tells Ofelia that there is no yelling in thee house. She says she and Mar were just talking, right Mar. Mar walks out without a word. Leo also leaves. Paula threatens O about staying in Mar's good graces.

Boring photo session with Arturo and Val. I want to FF through these

Arturo gets to the entrance of the office and runs into a glum Nick. He says he argued with Dad about Cami. Arturo says same here. Then Leo arrives and he also complains. Nick feels like he is on equal footing with his brothers. Luis is leaving the building and is glad he ran into them. When he returns from his business trip he wants to talk to all 4 of them, let Cami know. Luis gets to his car, asks the chauffeur for the keys, he's going home to make sure all is well with his wife. He tells the driver to get another company car to return to the house.




 

Las hijas #42-43 part 3

Arturo brings Val to his mother's favorite dining place. Long winded speech about how he fell for her, then asks her to be his novia. She says yes, of course.

Nick and Graciela talk at the mansion (why is he there?) she asks what's up. First it's about Cami, then he tells her about him forcing Val and Arturo to resolve their differences. He raves about her good qualities. Graciela guesses he has feelings for her too.

More Val and Arturo. She says normally she would run to Mar with her happy news. She asks if he sees her much. No, not much. Let me take you there so you can see her.

Graciela tells Nick she has never seen him like this, in a teasing way. Nick goes into a speak about love, and how he doesn't believe in it I think. Graciela tries to change his mind (the spinster aunt giving advice in the love department is ironic ). She tells him if you keep your feelings bottled up the future eruption won't be pretty.

Arturo rushes exuberantly into the room hugs all around, he's the happiest man on earth. Val accepted his novia offer (this seems over the top, this seems like it is being treated like an engagement). Arturo tells Nick it's all thanks to you. My brother reminded me what is important in life. Graciela hopes he never forgets it. And don't you hurt this girl. Paula comes in and thanks Nick and Arturo for letting her be the spokesperson for their event.

Luis is driving through the countryside remembering the arguments he just has with his 3 sons. A car is following him and beeping. It pulls up next to him. ( Is this a cartel kidnapping?)

Val and Mar are walking in the garden. Val tells her excitedly I officially have a boyfriend. Squeals of joy from both. Oh no, here comes mom. How pretty you look. I told you you should apply yourself, now look at you the great model. Mar is sad, Val is mad. She says goodbye to Mar. O asks about her modeling. Val says it's going fine. O raves about her famous daughter with pictures all over the city. Mar looks so downcast, I shuts up.

Mar comes down for dinner and tells Nick it's good to see him, which surprises him. Graciela tells him he's missed and Paula agrees. She says the dinner table seems different with strangers, right. Graciela chastises her. O doesn't miss a beat and agrees, Graciela isn't at fault for your enojos (annoyance, trials?) made me laugh .. Paula says wow. Leo looks at his watch. It's late. Maid comes in. Someone is here for Mar. This can't be good. Paula makes a snide remarks about the lady of the house. O fires back something at her that shuts her up and Leo gives her a strange look.

2 policemen speak to Mar on the top of the steps. They inform her their was an accident. Luis died. She needs to ID the body. She sends the maid to get Nick.

Cami and Juan are going out for quesadillas, unfortunately not at a restaurant. Arturo returns Val to her place and Cami sees them. Cami is irate Arturo defends Val. Cami says what is it with the men in this family, first Leo, then pap, now you. Arturo demands that she apologizes to Val. Val calms him down and says to Cami I understand. Let's try to get to know each other without making judgement and extends her hand in friendship.

Nick rushes out with everyone on his heels and gets the same news as Mar. Shock all around. Graciela and Mar cry.

Cami isn't shaking in it. She accuses Val of being as bad as her mother and sister. Let's go Juan. Arturo tries to follow Cami and Val pulls him back. Arturo apologizes on her behalf.

The police show photos of the license plate in the car that was in the accident. It caught on fire ( the photos don't show the plates damaged imo) . The body was burned beyond recognition. Someone needs to ID him. Nick and Leo go. ( Wouldn't DNA be a better idea?). I'm not positive these police are real. It could be a trap. Did anyone see this coming? I'm going to finish the rest tomorrow. I don't have another 2+ hours in me tonight.

 

Las hijas #42-43 part 4

Well just in case it isn't recording and I want to know what happened next im continuing some more. Who knows how far I'll get

Mar passes out at the fateful news. Ofelia catches her. Graciela sends Rosita, the maid, for alcohol ( isn't ammonia used in this situation. Smelling salts in a regency novel would be handy). Paula states at them with her brain churning.

Juan is still hungry, but Cami is furious . He tries to defend Val saying he's known her all his life. She is good people. Cami doesn't want to hear it. Her phone rings, it's Graciela. What? Cami asks in shock.

Arturo and Val kiss on her house. Arturo gets the call but ignores it. Gets called again, it's Nick. Arturo drops his phone .

Cami rushes with Juan into the mansion demanding of Ofelia and Mar to see her father. She runs out of the room. Juan moves towards Mar, but Ofelia stops him. You need to control and console your wife. Cami is going ballistic. Graciela tells her he died on the highway. Cami shoves her, tosses the chess set on the floor and is acting like Priscilla in her rage. Juan bear hugs her and tries to calm her down.

In the morgue Nick I guess makes the id. Leo comes in and wants to see. Nick tells him you don't want your last memory to be this. Arturo rushes in. The medical examiner gives them his effects. The watch ( not damaged as far as I can tell) was given to Luis by their mother.
Arturo insists it's not his dad. He can't be gone. Leo and Nick comfort him.

O brings Mar to her room. Val arrives. Ofelia tells Val she is very bad. Val sits with Mar on the bed and tells her she is so sorry. Mar says she and Luis had a plan.

And sure enough, I have to quit now. Any time they throw a double episode in YouTube doesn't record it and it jumped to a basketball game. Hopefully I can catch the rest tomorrow on Univision.

Diana I'm amazed how much you get without having it recorded. You must be a fast typist.

It's harder to remember where you had questions if I don't go the reply route but I'll try. Augusto tells Bertha he lost everything because he was an alcoholic. They did t go into detail but if he has been driving when the wife and child died I imagine he would be in jail. Maybe the wife drove because he was drunk, or she was leaving him and had an accident. Perhaps they will tell us more.

Guzman was searching Aide and Tino's room for the USB

Circe and mom discuss Checo. Circe explains how he wants to stay far from her for her safety but that she loves him. Aide appreciates her honesty. These 2 can wait 2 years if they really are end game. She'll be 18 soon enough.

Guzman is blaming all the things going wrong on Tino.

I also like Felipe the diary was Clara Luz'. Heasks did she put her first kiss in it. He would like her to be able to add theirs. Let Rudolph have Ana, his fan club groupy. if he and Clara were meant to be they would have figured it out long ago. They are more like friends with benefits. And Felipe is rich and willing to search for Pipe for her.
 

My comment about Circe and Checo waiting is my personal opinion, it wasn't spoken.

I still can't access episode 43 on Univision or YouTube TV. I think I'll be able to get it later today or tomorrow. If anyone cares to comment on the first half have at it. I really think the way Luis was presented as dead has some room for doubt he really is dead. It's hard to imagine the police are in on a deception, but who knows. Either he has been kidnapped or he is running away for a bit to see how the kids react to his death and will. Was the will Hector gave Luis in the office already signed or just the draft Luis needed to look over before signing? Perhaps it was the unofficial copy. I would hope He tor would have the original for safekeeping because I have no faith if Leo found the will that he wouldn't tear it up if Mar gets anything.

Juan is growing on me. Susana never will and Jacinto is pretty awful too. Susana does not have that much work to do in that little house. Now if she had a huge garden, animals to tend, canning to do, or bringing in outside laundry, mending and ironing to help contribute financially to the household etc I'd feel for her. Cami has not increased her workload one iota. She has time to watch novelas so she isn't short of free time.
 

Las hijas, some clarification. My comment about Leo finding a house was my personal thoughts, he didn't say anything about it.

I also got Luis driving home to see Mar wrong. Looks like he is driving himself to the conference based on the next scenes.

Thanks Diane, that was great. I’m amazed that you can do the recap without stopping or going back. You had mentioned that when I was struggling to do Juana. I would watch, stop, rewatch, and still not get stuff.

I was surprised Tino told the kids he wasn’t their biological father before he told Aide. I think he knew Guzman was going to tell. But I would have told Aide and then told the kids together. Guzman just gets worse with each episode.

Not sure why Circe gave the USB to Fed, or tried to. I know Chintolo had taken it from Tino and then I think it fell to the floor. So Circe should have realized it was Tino’s. That’s something that didn’t make sense to me, why not give it to Tino. I wonder if Tino downloaded it to his computer. Probably not!

Recapping is so challenging isn't it? Especially so when the scenes and dialogue fly fast and furious.

But I would have told Aide and then told the kids together" is exactly what should have happened. I am having a hard time digesting all this, especially how Aide does not know who the kids father actually is. And yes, as soon as Tino realized Guzman knew, he should have immediately talked with Aide.

As Kat mentioned the other day, Damasco seems the only viable candidate as I'm fairly certain the father isn't Chano or Rudolf, unless it is someone who we haven't met yet.

Liz, I was trying to figure out how on earth Circe had the USB, I didn't see it fall out of Chintolo's pocket. And yes, why didn't she give it to Tino??? Great point!

Thanks Kat, that was a great recap. You have given me a little bit of hope as I was shocked that Luis was killed off. As Mar said, they had plans. I can’t imagine that the kids will let her stay in the house. Although if she’s in the will I think they’d have to. But they would make her life miserable. Paula seemed to have her silly sly smile even with Luis’ death.

I am liking Juan less as the show goes on. I feel like he’s always trying to please Camila. I’m glad he defended Val but he sure doesn’t defend Mar whenever Camila rants about her. And he hasn’t been able to get her to do anything around the house. I loved your comment about Susana’s first grandchild. And you’re right, Mar would have let them see the baby anytime. But now it’s Luis’ baby.

Mar is standing up to her mom more, but she needs to let Ofelia know that snooping around her room, or anywhere in the house, is off limits. She really should tell her she has to move out, she really is disliked by everyone and is making Mar miserable.

Kat you did a sensational job on this action packed two hour episode. Excellent from start to finish.

I'm going to start with "Did anyone see this coming?" My answer is absolutely not. With so much up in the air and so much unresolved, the timing just seemed to come out of the blue and made no sense! Seeing the menacing faces of the men in the other car, I also thought it would be a kidnapping or revenge hit.

It also never occurred to me that Luis' death could have been staged. Your sharp observation that none of the "evidence" seemed damaged made perfect sense. People could have been bought or could have been actors. We never saw any police cars, did we? The only thing that would have been hard to fake was Luis' dead body but it could have been done. Your theory is that Luis could be testing his kids is very plausible...

"When will O wear the same dress again. Every day another dress...." had me smiling away.

I liked your wry "It's what you did to me sending me away from the family for all those years. ( But you weren't sent with only the clothes on your back, you went away to college all expenses paid)". Bingo...

Cami was rabid in refusing to shake Val's hand. That said, I was surprised that by offering her friendship, Val dismissed Cami's reprehensible treatment of her sister. I have to attribute it to the fact she wasn't living in the house and didn't see all the horrible treatment herself.

I seem to be all alone at Juan's table. I hope you'll pull up a chair. :)

Thank you, Kat and (Adriana for yesterday), your recaps are fantastic as always! We are buzzing away and now we have the twist! I have finally watched up to the first episode last night, but I haven’t watched episode 2 yet, so I’ll comment only on what’s posted.

One thing I wanted to say about yesterday, Rocio is probably lucky that she turned her back on Ofelia. O just would have told her that Nic IS her son as if she knew it for a face, and O doesn't know that!!! Although, I'm pretty sure it's true.

I feared at first that Luis would be killed off early leaving Mar a young widow in the lion’s den but I thought it would be because of his health conditions! I never saw this coming!!! It would be interesting if Luis’s death was faked, but I hope Luis himself isn’t doing it – that’s taking teaching your kids a lesson too far! I wonder if this is Saul’s (is that his name) revenge for the rape accusation? Or some plot of Paula’s to get Leo as head of the family? I also think that even though Mar will surely have things difficult with Leo and Cami it might not be as bad as I could be, both Nic and Art love Val – they’ll probably treat Mar with at least a little bit of respect because of that! They’d better!!!

I have been wondering for awhile now about Ofelia’s house debt…. she’s clearly not working off the house anymore. I guess it’s a moot point now with Luis dead, but did she just not owe the debt anymore because Mar married Luis? Or did Art’s ex burning down the house cancel out the debt? Kind of a reverse liability acknowledgment? An unimportant detail I guess, but it bugged me.

Speaking of unimportant details, I think I did recognize the novela on the TV – lol. I also remember Cami was watching Cabo many episodes back so she lied about not watching novelas. I would feel bad for Susana if she wasn’t a reprehensible person who deserved to be avoided at all costs! And I 100% agree that house is small, it’s not a lot of work and Cami is not creating extra work for her there’s no reason for this outrage.

I’m at the don’t like Juan table and have been pretty much since the beginning. He doesn’t seem like a horrible person like his mother – yet, he just doesn’t seem to have any strength of character, personality, morals, or ability to stand up for anything he truly supposedly cares about.

Interesting too that when the police came to the door Mar immediately told the maid to go get Nicolas and not Leo. Even Mar naturally sees Nic as the leader of the brothers.
 

Las hijas #43. Part 2

Univision to the rescue. About 10 minutes into it.

Back to Mar talking about her and Luis' plan to Val and Ofi. She doesn't tell Val about the pregnancy yet. O comforts them.

The next morning. Cami and Juan are still at the mansion. Leo comes in holding the watch. Cami says please tell me it isn't true. Leo breaks the news to their dismay ( Graciela, Paula Juan and Cami). The couples hug each other and Paula is definitely scheming in her head.

The 2 maids, now wearing black uniforms rather than their standard blue are crying in the kitchen. First the mistress, now the master...they are going to miss him so much.

Mar and Ofelia are also dressed in black sitting on the bed. I can't remember what they were wearing last night, but I think they both changed. They hear Cami sobbing from below. Mar says Luis is dead. It's not fair, he was so good. Val leaves the room.

Ofelia rushes out advice. I know you are sad Mar, but you need to be present when the will is ready. Mar just shakes her head, are you fricking kidding me ( my words), that's what you think about at a time like this? O tells her you need to be ready, I know how this class of people act. I've worked in rich people's homes for years. Do not let them throw you out of the house because it's yours.

Graciela advises Cami to go up and change her clothes. She doesn't want to. I think it must be for the viewing/wake. Are funerals really done so quickly in telenovlandia? Graciela says if she doesn't go she will regret it all her life. Juan convinces her to go change and escorts her upstairs.

Arturo and Nick stand at the bottom of the steps leading to the house. Nick tells Arturo he needs to be strong. Cami and our Aunt need us. Arturo yells that body can't be dad ( I want DNA or dental proof myself so I see why he's upset). Nick says t isn't fair but dad raised us to continue on without him. Now mom and dad are together again. We aren't alone we have each other. Your family will help you. Val walks out of the house and sees them hug.

Mar tells mom she is the coldest most cruel person she has ever met. Ofelia says I'm trying to prepare you for the worst. Mar says what worst, losing my husband is the worst. In typical O fashion she tells Mar the worst would be losing her mother 😂. Cami drags Juan into the master suite. Ofelia tells her I know you are hurting but it is best you leave. Cami insults Mar in some way. Mar tearfully looks at Juan which sets Cami off even more telling her look at me, not him. Ofi tells Juan to get his wife out of here. He tries. Cami is threatening to throw Mar out. Ofelia whispers, see what did I tell you.

Arturo shoves Nick aside. You can cry all you want, but I'm not crying for a body you can't even recognize. Arturo drives off. Val comforts Nick. She asks what's up with Arturo. Nick tells her he can't accept Dad's death. She tells him she understands, he needs his space to deal with the pain. He still feels responsible. Val asks him how does he handle the pain. He doesn't know. Val tells him when her dad she couldn't cry. She suffered in silence. She advises him to cry and let it all out. He cries and they hug.

Back in the master bedroom Mar hugs Cami trying to comfort her. She knows she is sad. Mar is also. Cami throws her off calling her a hypocrite. O tells Juan to get his wife out of there and he escorts her out. Mar falls to her knees crying and accepting her mother's comfort.

Arturo came back and watches as Nick cries on Val's shoulder. Nick sees him but Val doesn't. Arturo walks off. She rubs Nick's back as she hugs him. She pulls away and says I need to find Arturo but you can count on me if you need anything. Nick thanks her and agrees she needs to find Art as he needs her a lot. He needs to plan the funeral I think. Val finds Arturo and tells him his siblings need him, just as Mar needs her.

Paula calls Chema ( the reporter) with the news . It will be a private funeral. The family doesn't want to be talked about with the young wife etc...she trusts in his discretion. Leo walks in on the convo and asks who are you talking to. She finishes her phone call telling the press to respect their privacy. Leo gets the take, the press are hounding me about what happened. She tells Leo that a small wake is appropriate and he buys into her reasons. She comforts him with that smirk on her face. He thanks her.

Rocio hears the news on TV about Luis death. She says finally she can be with her son.

Casa Susana and Jacinto. I'm a bit lost on this conversation.

Wake time. Pedro interrupts Nick saying the press are outside and want a statement. Graciela can't believe their gall. Nick goes out to speak with them. Mar looks at Juan. Ofelia chastises her for looking at him at her husband's wake. She glares at Juan who hides behind Cami to avoid her stare.

Susana and Jacinto are trying to gatecrash the wake. They push their way through the reporters but are denied entrance. Jacinto says we are family, Luis is our consuegro. Now the reporters are all over them for a story. Nick comes out. They tell Nick who they are and he lets them enter. Nick tells the reporters the family is going through a difficult time.


 

Las hijas #43 part 4

So Juan is wearing a white T-shirt. I guess Cami burned his only dress shirt. Ofelia comments to Mar, oh look the hoi poloi have arrived. Mar tells her they come from the servant class themselves. Ofelia begs to differ, they are no longer of that class. Susana is muttering to Jacinto about Ofelia and family. He tells her to show some respect for the dead. ( This was a rather funny scene).

The reporters are asking Nick about the business, who will be the new president. Nick doesn't answer and asks them to respect their privacy. Rocio arrives. She grabs Nick's hand and calls him son. Nick looks at her like she has 2 heads.

Arturo tells Val his last conversation with Dad they argued and it is killing him that it will be his last memory. Val comforts him. Then she goes to Mar to see how she is doing. Mar has been seated the entire time. O says, ah finally you come to your sister. You haven't left Arturo's side the entire time. Mar tells mom to shut up.

Nick recalls Rocio from the hospital when Arturo was injured. She wants to come in, she has much to tell him. He refuses. Arturo comes out, it's time for the service to begin. Rocio still tries to get in but they don't let her. She gives her condolences and Arturo thanks her.

Silent mass as the camera pans over the attendees. Cami wishes dad a final farewell.

Rocio walks home she thanks God for letting her see her son, but she wants a bit more help. Which one is her son.

Interment time. Nick tells Graciela the family will never be the same. She agrees,. Leo is with Paula who has the largest sunglasses in the world on. I guess it's to hide her lying eyes. The maids and Pedro are there. No sign of Hector though. That seems strange. Cami tells dad finally dad you are back with Mom as she drops a white rose on the coffin.

Val is telling Mar they can find an apartment together while the Casita gets fixed up. O asks why are you bothering her. She is in her house. O tells her you don't have to go anywhere.

Cami and Juan return to the barrio. Susana offers her dinner. She's not hungry. Jacinto can't believe she doesn't want dinner. It will make her feel better. She just wants to sleep. Tomorrow the will is being read and she needs to get out early. Susana tells Juan he needs to accompany her to the reading. He says it is Portillo affair, but Susana says he needs to support his wife so he will go with her.

The notario is seated at the dining table where all are assembled to hear the will. ( Juan managed to find a black shirt for this occasion ). First he would like to express his sorrow. Ofelia says thank so much, notario. Leo and Paula give her the dirtiest look. Nick will be the president of the company. Paula and Leo look irate. Arturo pats Nick on the shoulder, he is fine with that. The last part I'm not sure if, but I think his possessions are to be equally divided between his children and Mar. Ofelia looks happy so I think I'm correct.

I was afraid the will reading would be next episode. Glad to get the answers today.
 

Las hijas, Darcy I thought the same. He is definitely the leader of the pack.
 

OT, it looks like part 3 of episode 43 was declined if someone can rescue it.

Kat, thank you so much for giving us a great recap . I am kind of confused . I watched the first episode last night and the second one today . I will make some comments even though I'm not sure if both episode recaps have now been posted here .

I will just do some stream of consciousness comments . First, I am with Diana at the Juan table. This guy isn't the sharpest tool in the shed, but at !east he isn't ranting and scheming all the time like many of these characters . Like Mar, he kind of rides with the tide and goes with the flow. I noticed that at the funeral, everyone..I mean everyone was in black except Juan . He was in that casual pullover light colored shirt we have seen him in the last few episodes. His dad was in a black shirt and a black jacket. Why didn't he give Juan either the black shirt or jacket to wear so that Juan didn't stand out from everybody else...even his parents. I guess it was an unsubtle way of continuing to show that he is not high class. Quiet Mar and Juan just wanted to be together , but all these people got in the way.

Second , I am sure that Luis was kidnapped by someone . He was surprised to see that car next to him on the highway . These writers like to throw surprises at us.

I can barely stand to look at O. She is heartless in her quest to get her girls and herself into the upper class. She's exhausting . She never stops scheming as she peacocks around in her new clothes and jewelry. How did she accumulate her vast wardrobe so quickly??? I know that the Portillas make clothes ...did she visit their warehouses ?

Also, this whole thing of Val suddenly being in love with Art...really? Graciela telling Art not to hurt makes me think that he will .... Susan

Susan, yeah, Juan in white was weird, especially since he rustled up a black dress shirt the next day. All of the recap parts are posted now. Thanks to whomever restored part 3 for me.. Next time a double header is thrown my way I'll have to add it to my library immediately. I was mad at myself for not doing so.

I also believe Luis was kidnapped. I really am shocked the family did not demand DNA testing. I thought for sure Arturo was off to uncover the truth.

Thank you again Kat, I rescued your part 3, you’re a trouper doing this double episode! I think the reason Juan had the white shirt on is because they never left the mansion between hearing about dad’s death and the burial, Cami had a change of clothes and Juan didn’t. Apparently, none of his brother’s in law were inclined to loan him a change of clothes but dad could have brought him a shirt.

The odd way Ofelia treated Val in this episode makes me think even more that O has earned all the attitude she gets from Val over the years even if she doesn’t appear to do anything to deserve it in the particular episode. Beginning with, Val goes to see Mar in her bedroom and Ofelia tries to keep her out because Mar isn’t doing well??? What?? Who wouldn’t want their sister with them (a sister they were close to) in their grief? Then later she criticizes her in the middle of a funeral for NOT coming close to Mar sooner and being with Art all morning?? Ofelia is both overly possessive and weirdly jealous of Mar – even with Val. It’s one thing for her to be that way with ‘outsiders’ but even with Val? It’s sick.
I haven’t forgiven Cami one bit and I don’t think she deserves redemption but the way they show the slightest hesitation and pause in her when both Mar and Val offer her genuine friendship – you can tell this girl needs that! Growing up with a very self-involved friend like Prissy she probably never experienced a real friendship!! It was so moving and selfless the way Mar tried to comfort Cami despite her nastiness and you could tell a part of Cami wanted to melt into that warmth…. It almost made me feel for her, almost!

I know Rocio is excited that now she can approach Nic or Art…. or Nic or Art…. But showing up to the funeral again (she went to Ceceila’s too come to think of it) was just plain stupid, again!! She’s waited all these years; she can’t wait another couple of days and respect their grief? She honestly wanted to crash their dad’s burial and drop that bomb on them! It’s as cold as all the other women on this show.

I’m really disappointed they killed Luis off or even had him kidnapped or faked killed, I was hoping this would go differently than the young widow ‘gold digger’ after 15 mins of marriage fighting with the kids for the inheritance plot. And, of course no one knows now that Mar’s baby isn’t Luis’s. The will didn’t mention the baby, at least not that we heard tonight.

When Nick told his father that he was only treating Cami like he had treated him, Luis should have told him that he was his father and that Nick was not Cami’s father but ONLY her brother . Really. So tired of the male hierarchy being the only one that matters.

Susan, I was wondering, too, if Juan didn’t have another shirt. Was that a dragon that was printed on it? Really?

My last comment is that “Luis” ‘s body was not identifiable on its own. I agree with you who are wondering: How long until he returns?

Thanks for the recap of the rest of last night! Another excellent one.

Since it seems that everyone thinks it’s not Luis, here’s my theory-right or wrong. When the car pilles up by Luis I thought of Juan and Mar’s experience. So If Luis is alive I think they probably beat and robbed him and left him for dead. One of the guys drove his car and had stolen his watch. So one robber is dead and Luis is in a hospital somewhere, unconsious. I don’t think he would ever fake his death to teach them a lesson. Plus he wouldn’t hurt Mar.

Rocío is crazy. She doesn’t know which is her son so grabs both their hands. And would she really tell one of them those weren’t his parents, and she is.

Seeing Leo and Paula upset at the will reading made my night.

Yes, I think that was a dragon on Juan's shirt. I guess we here on the patio are just too pragmatic and practical . I still am shaking my head that Juan's dad had on a black shirt AND a black jacket !!! All he had to do was take off that jacket and give it to Juan. Why is this bothering me so much???

So, who set up Luis , and where is he??

The only one who knows that Mar is pregnant is wheeling dealing O , and she quickly figured out that the baby is Juan's. Who will find out next ? Maybe Mar will confide in her sister. When Juan finds out will he be sharp enough to suspect the baby is his?...probably not .

No matter what happens , we can be pretty certain that on Monday , O will be in a new outfit and a lot of people will be having hissyfits over that will as O stirs the pot and keeps pushing Mar to.be large and in charge. It's kind of funny that Cami and Mar have traded spaces.. Enjoy your new mother in law , Cami.

Darcy, thanks for the rescue. Did you determine anything relevant between Susana and Jacinto when their past with the in laws was brought up? I'm thinking they lived with Jacinto's family, but not sure. Also, did I interpret the will correctly?

Susan, I loved your comment about Mar, Camila and Susana. I think Mar and Juan will end up together and I think Susana is going to be thrilled to have Mar as a daughter-in-law! She just may treat her like a queen!

Liz, that is an excellent plot twist you put forth. We could write our own stories at this point. Luis may just be wandering through the desert looking for a phone or cabin to lay his weary head. Probably without his meds though so I hope he is found soon. I found out there are 82 episodes so we are about at the halfway point.

Liz, I think that you might be on to something . I don't think nasty , loud Susana should be redeemed , but she probably will be because she has a good husband and son . If Susana is redeemed by the writers , what kind of ending will scheming ,controlling O get?

Kat, sorry I didn't listen closely to Susana and Jacinto. I try not to listen to Susana, the only impression I remember is that Susana had trouble getting along with her mother-in-law and she wants things to be different with Cami.

I think your interpretation of the will is correct. It was a brief statement so I'm guessing we'll have more details when we pick up on Monday, but it sounds like the kids got the company, but they are sharing the rest of Luis's assets with Mar as you wrote.

I don't understand how Guz got a DNA test, or is he lying and trying to split up the happy couple?Did he witness who was with Aide that fateful night back in school? Or is he lying and the DNA test is fake? Did Aide actually not remember what happened that night but thought it was,Tino? Was she that drunk? Confused again. Guz is shaping up to be a monster ...Pipe, Chofis, maybe Uli. How did Aide get involved with Guzman? Were they friends in high school? Dud they start the business together ?

Good question about Guzman. From what we've seen (particularly Lichita's rejection) I'm thinking he might also have been an outcast and that is why they are working together. She seemed to trust him implicitly (well at least up to now). However he got that DNA test is also puzzling. Lots to be answered...

Guzman was the nerdy kid with glasses in the flashback high school scenes. No idea how he was brought into the business, but Aide probably was friends with him in HS as the outcasts cling to each other and form their own little clique. Yes, aide was that out of it. My theory is she and Tino started making out and she passed out. He probably was a gentleman and left her to sleep it off. Some other guy obviously then " had his way with her". Guzman witnessed Tino and Aide heading upstairs at the school. He is the type of worm that probably got off on being a voyeur. He probably then saw who the second guy was. Guzman set up that bonding retreat with Danselo. Does he have blue eyes. Since he's the only other high school guy that's been introduced I'm betting he's the dad. Maybe he felt so awful for what he did to Aide he became a monk of sorts.

Kat, thank you for all your hard work this weekend. I wish I could have helped, but I'm not in the best of shapes, either (work stress, insomnia, my daughters reaching the "fight eatch other all day" era).

So Luis is dead? Seeing how teh whole thing happened my best guess is that he got robbed and then the guy who took away his car was in an accident. Luis must be hurt somewhere, what would be the point in him being dead? Just to have Mar as a young widow pretending her unborn baby is a product of her 5 minutes marriage?
Arturo seems to be the only one unwilling to accept that dad is dead. There is a reason why he's the rebel of the family.
And Nick is once again trying to eat up his feelings, but manages to get it all out in fron of Val.
I gotta say, I don't like him all the time, but in their scenes together Val and Nick do make sense. She has been the one trying to protect her sister all her life. If she married Arturo, he'd be a lot of fun, but she'd still have to be the one doing all the grown-up stuff. With Nick the burden would be shared, someone would take care of her for a change.

Rocio crashes another funeral to see her son. I still say it's too bad Leo is not the one, it woudl have served Paula right.

Nick obviously has some resentments over the fact that he was sent away to study. Is this why he feels like he needs to take care of everyone, because he feels like he doesn't really belong?

So..let's see where the writers take us. I dont think Luis is dead, and I don't think that he planned this disappearance . Just when Val starts to relax and give Art a chance.. ..BOOM !!! But then , I guess we can all recognize that real life does the same thing . Sometimes, we feel like we are starring in our own real life novela. We should each think of a good title for our own personal telenovela. I am going to work on mine . Hope yours calms down soon , Adriana . I am thinking of you and sending you good vibrations . My theory is that Luis faked his death. When he was leaving the master bedroom he had a look on his face that said something was afoot. He knew that his goal of getting his kids to straighten up and fly right was no closer so he has doubled down. This is a bigger test than he had originally planned and was conceived in desperation.

The kidnapping theory is also plausible. Also, if there is one rule I have learned about novelas it's that if someone is reported dead and we don't see the body, that person isn't dead.

OT, Rgv Chick, I have a request for you. Would it be possible to put the page up at 8 p.m. rather than 8:30. I occasionally recap Papas and do it in real time on this page rather than on a computer. If I do a Monday or Thursday recap I can't start watching and typing until 8:30. As a result I try not to offer help recapping on those nights. I can work around it obviously, but if Diana needs a night off it makes it harder for me to do. Cutting and pasting from my phone is not easy so I can't type it in notes and paste it.
