PAPAS #57 Part 1

Previously, the custody court battle intensified into a raging inferno. Sharp accusations (Paulina’s abandonment, Tino’s supposedly “abusive” behavior) were bandied about, followed by indignant denials. The judge wisely notes the complexities and difficulty of the case and will take more time before rendering a decision. She does note that she is being swayed in Tino’s favor.

Clara Luz finally realizes Guzmán was told the truth about Pipe. Unfortunately, no one has any idea that Pura’s revelation is what led to her death at his hands. After talking with Pipe, the brother seems to be relenting in keeping Clara Luz and Rudolf away from Pipe.

Dámaso indulges in black magic, giving Tino a hellish concoction that has him in agonizing pain. Aidé is impervious to Dámaso’s charms but he rightly guesses her heart belongs to Tino. She does say she wants to find out who the father of her children is as viewerville shudders, suspecting she is staring directly at him.

Dámaso’s dastardly brew has Tino hallucinating that Fed is Aidé as he grabs her, fueled by drugs, passion and desire.

We see Tino crawling on the bed imagining Aidé in Fed’s place. Breathing heavily, he removes his shirt and falls into Fed’s arms. However, as she stares in shock, he passes out! Fed is fit to be tied and angrily texts Dámaso. Elsewhere, Dámaso tries to play mind games with Aidé as he holds her hands.

Sweet Pipe, sitting all alone on a huge couch, talks with Clara Luz and Rudolf, seated on separate chairs on each side of the couch. They pull out hand puppets as Pipe cheers. They silly talk and then go sit next to Pipe. He laughs delightedly and they end up hugging.

Chano tries to turn on the charm and it seems to be working. He moves in toward Lichita and they end up kissing.

The brother talks with Clara Luz and Rudolf. It seems he has gone against Guzmán, siding with Pipe’s parents; the three embrace.

We see Chano and Lichita in bed but the magic seems to disappear quickly. They talk about the children and she says something and he gets angry. He gets up, gets dressed and leaves despite her pleas to stay.

Uli, Circe and Lila are at microphones practicing a song. Scarlet and Emi are there too, they actually sound pretty good.

PAPAS #57 Part 2

Determined to revive him somehow, Fed holds Tino’s nose until he can’t breathe! Still out of it, he starts murmuring about the love of his life after which she calls him stupid.

Aidé and Dámaso talk about Uli and Cire’s father among other things. “I love you” he says as the doors open and all the children come in asking about Tino.

Fed is in her black leather prowling the hall when she and Chano run into each other; he wears a jeans jacket over his bare chest. She boldly opens his coat liking what she sees. She grabs him and they rush into a beautifully decorated room. No, I’m kidding. Any old room will do, in this instance, it’s a nearby supply closet. She throws everything off a table in the room and they lie down.

Clara Luz and Rudolf see their room only has one bed. They end up lying down fully dressed with a wall of pillows between them. They have “PG” pillow talk, including something about Felipe.

Back at the stage, everything has been decorated with lights and musical notes; the children are delighted as is Aidé. Dámaso gets them riled up and dancing commences. He gets onstage and asks for a group hug, everyone complies, albeit Circe a bit hesitantly. Aidé is beaming happiness seeing her children so joyful; she and Dámaso hug which is just what he wanted.

Bertha and Augusto keeping the home fires burning so to speak, They get in an argument I believe about Fed…surprisingly, he gets up and leaves.

In storeroom central, Fed is already dressed as Chano lies on the table by himself. I believe she is threatening him to keep his mouth shut. She leaves as he sits up smiling (idiot).

Aidé talks with Lila and Emi. My brother is very noble Lila says as she counsels the children who smile brightly. The rest of the children arrive, marshmallows and sticks in hand.

Tino is in bed, he reaches over and grabs what he thinks is Aidé but surprise! “Perdonne” he says as Fed smiles and tries to wrap him in her tentacles. Oh no… Aidé walks in as Fed makes facial expressions matched by noises indicating she and Tino had fireworks. Just gross.

Chano wanders back to Lichita and doesn’t seem to look (or sound) the least bit guilty. They end up fist bumping and he sits, starting to gag (likely at himself, the little rat).

Pipe is walking outside carrying a big ball in between Clara Luz and Rudolf. They pinky swear something but Pipe seems reluctant. They later meet with Brother Cervantes.

Loathsome Guzmán shows up at Lichita’s; Chofis, Checo and Chuchito are there.

PAPAS #57 Part 3 of 3

Tino is practically crawling on the floor in pain but gets up trying to explain to Aidé which of course falls flat. Fed, spilling out of her nightgown only makes it worse. Aidé leaves as Fed licks her lips at Tino. Gross.

Dámaso is with Aidé poolside; Tino and Fed are also there. Everyone is surprised to see Lichita and Chano. Chano seems to mutter some excuse and they leave quickly. Tino kneels to talk with Emi who stares recalling Fed threatening him. at the poor. Dámaso comes over to see if he is all right and then Fed comes over; poor Emi is so obviously uncomfortable! Tino puts his hand on his face and leaves as Fed threatens Emi again. Emi gulps down what Tino brings him to drink but then looks terrified. Why doesn’t Tino notice I ask in frustration! We have to endure several painful scenes of this until Scarlet comes over and Tino and Fed leave. Tino tries to give his son encouraging signals across the pool.

Brother Cervantes calls Guzmán, Pipe by his side. Ahhh, Guzmán refers to Pipe by the wrong name (just as Pipe himself warned him). He asks him something I couldn’t make out.

Poolside, Brezelian texts Tino.

Emi draws a picture of himself in a wheelchair with a sad expression and shows it to Scarlet.

Paulina and Jason sit on a bed; he brings up Paulina abandoning the children. She denies it and he questions her specifically about Emi. He is clearly worried as she thanks him. She texts Lila…

Fed and Paulina, (the two beyotches) meet. Paulina threatens her again, is it clear darling she hisses?? Fed mimics her as Paulina flies out on her broom.

Scarlet and Emi talk, they are back with Bertha. Poor Emi is beside himself, I believe he confides in Scarlet about Fed. Kindly clarify.

Rudolf and Clar Luz are working when she opens an envelope. It is papers having something to do with Pipe but I didn’t understand what they were or what she said.

Tino and Aidé meet with Brezelian but he is not alone; Guzmán is there too! Damn…

The dialogue continues to be exceedingly challenging; I did the best I could. Kindly clarify and add what I could not understand. As always, thank you for your wisdom and insight.

Luchita tells Chano the spark is gone, it's not like it was. They've lost that loving feeling....

Bertha and Augusto argue about their relationship. He wants to do things together with her, travel, etc. she can't think beyond the grandchildren she has devoted the past 15 years of her life to. He may have suggested a physical relationship also, but I'm not sure.

Fede tells Chano what happens at the hotel stays at the hotel.

Clara and Rudolph want Pipe to tell a tiny lie, don't let Guzman know they are visiting him. Pipe refuses, lying is a sin.

Checo and Chofis spill the beans to Guzman that Clara is out of town ( name the town where Pipe's school is).

Guzman asks Pipe to simply answer yes or no to questions he asks. Have you seen Clara and Rudolph again.... The papers Clara received was a restraining order. They can't see Pipe again or they will go to jail.

Apparently the wheelchair has a problem with the mechanics. Augusto mentions fixing or replacing it I think. He wheels it away so Emi can tell Scarlet what Fede is doing to him and about the microphone on the chair.

Paulina was nasty about Emi, she wants Lila but not the paraplegic...

Kat, thank you for your (always) astute observations and enlightening comments.

"Paulina was nasty about Emi, she wants Lila but not the paraplegic..." was hard to read. We know she is icily heartless but to know that she actually said that was despicable. And heartbreaking.

I wondered what Guzman was telling Pipe to do on the phone. Now, I know. So slimy and sneaky.

So the papers were a restraining order. That makes perfect sense; I should have guessed.

I did think Emi confided in Scarlet but when Augusto took the chair, I was hoping that he might find the microphone while fixing it. Perhaps that might happen (?). Fingers crossed.

Juegos 18

Well Fabiola managed to escape he Dr. Brown moved her so she wouldn't be found. Francisco wants her found and killed he tells the Dr.

Suzy is 13 weeks pregnant. She is surprised is that far along. She had put a fair sum of money in her purse at the shop. Pretty sure she must be selling drugs for money. I wonder if she wanted the extra cash to pay for a termination.

Luci is talking to Elana at her apartment. Elena is upset that the ferrer's have paid the hospital bill. She needs to sell the apartment to pay them back and so there is money for her grandson.
Joaquin is definitely in the bad cop category. He gets paid off by Bertha. She is not happy that he gave Luci the file about her dad though. She is glad he lives at her place, he can keep an eye on her doings. They share a nooner....

Memo's dad is suspicious about something. He has invited Daniel to lunch. Mariana begs off when she sees him. Victoria and Roberto are out for w working lunch. He returns her necklace and puts it on her. Karina conveniently is at the same local and has German take a photo of the scene. He sends it to Enrique. When Luci talks with her about needing to find Fabiola to totally absolve Adrian and Memo of the hit and run, he shows her the photo. He doesn't want her romantically involved with Roberto. See he is dating his subordinate. Karina found her necklace at his place the other night.

Dr. Brown has a dodgy past. A wife of one his former patients that died will press charges. Victoria and Roberto are off to arrest him. They run into Joaquin in the parking lot and he joins them, he also sends Bertha a text. She in turn warns Dr. Brown who fills his briefcase with cash from his safe and a gun that he hides in his waistband. He puts the gun to Roberto's head and throws his cell phone. He's his ticket out of thee.

Roberto fights back, a tussle ensues. Dr. Brown shoots Roberto in the back ( he's wearing a bullet proof vest so it likely hit his shoulder or arm. Joaquin conveniently shows up and kills Dr. Brown.

A young woman matching Fabiola's description has been found dead. Dad goes to the morgue to ID her, it's not Fabiola ( to Bertha's dismay)

Memo's dad realizes his son and Adrian are the ones that killed Toby. He threatens to turn him in. Memo tells mom he has always hated me, she is sure he won't really tell.

Suzy is looking at photos on her phone of the ultrasound. Daniel walks into the store and asks are you pregnant. Yes. She gets a phone call on a second phone. I think she is selling CBD on the side and that is why she has the second phone. As she attends to a customer he calls the number of Toby's girlfriend. Surprise, is Suzy.

Gaby and Karina talk. She is mad Mom has a novios and wants to live with Dad she says as she storms upstairs.

Victoria visits Roberto at Karina's place ( she took him there to recuperate. He tells her Karina thinks they are an item. They wonder who took the photos . She knows he likes Luci. ( I really like Victoria. I hope there is no backstabbing or trying to break the lovers up. Let her be a good cop and detective and friend. He already has 2 known enemies in the force).

Karina visits Enrique at night in his office. He thinks he's getting some. Nope, she is quitting her job and him ..
 

Las hijas, Capitulo 61
Part 1/2

Amparo is outside Ofelia's house and calling her phone. She hears it ring so she realizes Ofelia is inside. She start knocking again. Juan happens to pass by and Amparo asks for his help. He is reluctant to approach the house, but Amparo insists and he finally manages to open a window. He sees Ofelia passed out on the floor and breaks open the front door. He smells the gas, shuts it down and grabs Ofelia.
Outside Juan decides there i no time to wait for an ambulance, they should take his car to the hospital.

Art and Val talk about their families. Val doesn't really think Ofelia would go to the press. She'd never upset Mar or Luis. Money is important for her, but living in the mansion was her dream come true. She knows he has a hard time believing her, which Art admits, but he kisses her hand and they go back to work.

Amparo calls Mar, but she doesn't answer, she thinks she's calling in behalf of her mother.
Now at the hospital, Amparo also call Val, but she is taking pictures, she doesn't answer her phone, either.
Juan has to go to work, Amparo thanks him for saving Ofelia's life. She will stick around the hospital since Ofelia's daughters aren't picking up their phones.
Mar is preparing a tea for Luis and putting 5 drops of the "médicine" inside. She hears someone arrive and gets startled, the bottle falls to the floor. It's only Paula, who warns her to be more careful. Mar is very worried for Luis, she wants to hurry to give him his tea, he was very stressed.
She goes to the study, Luis doesn't feel like drinking tea, but Mar insists it will help him relax. He takes a sip while they talk about things being so difficult recently. His daughter is having a baby with her baby daddy, Mar says. Luis asks her to stop thinking about this, he is and will always be her baby daddy. And he takes another sip of calming tea.

Ofelia wakes up in a hospital bed and calls for Mar. But Amparo is the only one there. She explains the gas leak and Ofelia remembers her talk with Mar. When she hears her daughters are not there, she thinks they both hate her. Amparo should have left her to die. She has nothing in this world without her daughters.
The doctor tells them Ofelia will spend the night. She is very depressed, she is all alone. She spent her entire life working for them… the best thing to do now is disappear from their lives. Amparo thinks she's taking things to far, but Ofelia says the only thing she can do is start over. A new place for a new Ofelia.

Susana is preparing tamales to offer to the neighbors when she gives them the news of the new addition to the family. It will be a celebration. And they will surely have a lot of gifts for the baby. Used things? Camila is having doubts. Susana talks about being neighborly, Camila looks afraid and disgusted. LOL

Val is leaving work, Pedro says she's done a great job today. She checks her phone and sees several missed calls. Arturo arrives before she can call back, he invites her to dinner. She happily accepts.

Leo is home and a little sad. Their house used to be so alive. His mother's voice, his siblings… so much happiness. Now everything is so quiet, nothing is the same anymore. Paula tries to comfort him, they have one another. All that is left is for Mar to leave also, this way they'll have the house all to themselves. Leo gives her a kiss on the forehead, but doesn't scream with joy at the prospect.

 

Las hijas, Capitulo 61
Part 2/2

It's the next day and Val is woken up by her phone. Amparo is calling again and she finally calls back. She explains she has been very busy and tired. Amparo scolds her for not answering, her mother was in the hospital and now she has decided to leave? Where?
Ofelia is at the bus station, buying a one way ticket to some place… I didn't get where. Her daughters no longer need her, so she has to find a way to forget about all of this.
She has managed to get out of the hospital, make her bags and reach the bus stop and Val isn't even out of bed. How efficient.
Val is hurrying outisde when she runs into Nick. She explains quickly that her mom was in the hospital and now she plans to leave the city. She can't allow that, so she wants to go stop her. Nick offers to drive her, it would be much faster than taking the bus.

During breakfast at the mansion Paula reminds Mar to put the drops into Luis' food before he arrives. He can't stick around to eat, but he does drink the juice that contains the drops. As he leaves, Mar says she's worried he's not eating properly. Amparo calls again, Paula thinks she should answer once and for all. Mar tells Amparo she doesn't want to hear about her mother. Amparo tells her Ofelia almost died and she doesn't deserve to be treated this way. Then she hangs up on Mar and I kind of enjoy the moment.
Mar gets worried, when Paula tries to say that is is another manipulation attemps from her mother, she disagrees, Amparo would never do that. She has to make sure that her mother is well.

Val keeps calling Ofelia, but she doesn't answer. She feels guilty for leaving her alone, she could have done more to help. Nick tries to calm her.

Susana is giving tamales to the neighbors while everyone congratulates her. Such a young grandma that she will be.
Camila thinks she should go see a doctor, her doctor. Juan asks about the cost, but she has no clue because her dad always paid for it. Camila then asks about the donations from the neighbors, she wouldn't want her baby to have used things. Juan is not sure he'll be able to pay for everything brand new. Camila is sure he'll manage, just keep in mind he's doing everything for their baby. So clueless...

Mar runs to the casita (in high heels and a tight dress that barely covers the essentials). But Ofelia is long gone so Mar starts to reminisce about the conversations they used to have. She cries.
She goes outisde and meets with Amparo who scolds her for not answering her phone. Mar says she was busy… Amparo explains what happened and that Juan was the one to get her mother out of the house. She is OK now, but she hurt a lot because she and her sister didn't answer the phone. And now she has decided to go back to her village.
Mar thinks this is probably for the better. Her mother will be OK without her. Amparo hopes that when she has her baby she will understand a lot of things and hopefully she wil stop being so cruel to her mother.
Walking around the neighborhood Mar runs into Susana's tamale celebration. The vecinas mock her for being a princess and forgetting about her mother. Then she rans into Susana who asks her not be come back again and bother her son. For a minute she even thought her baby was Juan's, but thank God that was not the case. Juan is now happy with Camila. Mar asks her to stop, one day she will be sorry.

At the company Art is searching for Val because they have a meeting. She is not there yet and neither is Nick. How odd! He calls Val, reminding her they are all waiting for her. Just call if you need something!
She has everything she needs since Nick is with her. She is leaving vocal messages to her mother who is boarding the bus.
She finally arrives at the bus station and starts searching for Ofelia, but she is to late to stop the bus.
She goes back to the car, Nick offers to go to the village. She thanks him profusely, touches his arm and he gets a bit flustered. This guy needs to get some fast! He's only doing this to help. Off they go!

 

Las hijas, Capitulo 61
Part 3

Luis is upset because Nick and Val are not present for the meeting. How unproffesional! Leo and Paula enjoy the scene as Art is disturbed because he doesn't have news from either of them. Something must have happened. They decide to start without them and Paula, ever so helpful, suggests they film the meeting for Val and Nick.

Nick and Val manage to reach the bus that Ofelia has taken. Nick actually stops the bus by pulling over in front of it and Val begs the driver to open the door and allow her to talk to her mother.
She goes inside and asks Ofelia to come back with her. She can't go to that place where she hurt so much. She understands that she is hurting for Mar, but she is also her daughter and she needs her a lot. She kisses her and gives her a hug.

So, let me see if I got this right:

A couple of days ago when Cami was finally hungry the family couldn't afford to have a larger breakfast but today they can easily make tamales for the whole neighborhood? Okay...

And Ofelia is so distraught at being abandoned by both daughters for all of four days that she's decided to pack everything up and go back to her hometown - the one where her parents sold her for some land - because she'll be better off??? Hmmm....

After everything Ofelia has done Val and Mar have earned a stern scolding from Amparo and mocking from the vecindad because of said 'abandonment' since Of has been on her own ALL week!! It really is so cruel how they treat their poor abandoned mother!!! Anyone ever heard of the phrase 'maybe things will be better NEXT week?' No? Hmm...

I loved: 'She has managed to get out of the hospital, make her bags and reach the bus stop and Val isn't even out of bed.' So funny!!! Reminds me of a friend of mine who does way too much on Saturday mornings!

Kat in SC: Good job on the recap of last night's episode. I hope Lucy can figure out that Enrique, Ines & Co., were behind the deaths of her parents. Things are getting more sinister 24/7.

Dr. Brown was that desperate to escape huh ?

Of course, Suzy wants to terminate the pregnancy because it's in the way of her goals & plans.

The bus driver told Val something like make it quick but then we have Ofelia playing her "delay 'I am asleep' game", finally "awakening", Val hugging her and the bus not moving . . . OKAY . . .

I find Ofelia on her own in search of wealth to be funny but cannot stand how she manipulates her daughters or her attitude that they have to put up with her incessant interfering nonsense because she is their mother.

Also, Ofelia should have told her daughters how their father BOUGHT her and mistreated her when they were grown and could understand all that she had to put up with.

Guess there is no hope for Mar smartening up. How long until Luis falls ill?

Thanks for the thoughts and prayers. The doctors are pleased and say the surgery went well. At this point it hurts when I move so I’ll have to trust the doctors! I’m sure this TV has Univisión but I haven’t found it so I’ll have to binge watch when I get home.

To her credit, Ofelia's timing was impeccable. Her near death experience and "neglectful" daughters failing to answer Amparo's calls provided just the right time for her to slink off into the sunset. Of course, she knew they would follow.

I was surprised at "Mar thinks this is probably for the better. Her mother will be OK without her". Val proved to be the most dutiful daughter, despite always being last in her mother's affections. Indeed it was Mar whom Ofelia thought she would hurt the most by leaving.

I can't believe neither Nick nor Valeria thought to call someone at work. Let the rumors begin.

"Susana talks about being neighborly, Camila looks afraid and disgusted". Par for the course.

I was actually surprised the bus was willing to stop in the first place. I figured they would have to chase it all the way to the pueblo. It was funny O had the exact change needed for the one way ticket.

OT, Adriana thanks for answering my Easter calendar questions. I'm in our church choir. Holy week I will be very busy between practice and 3 or 4 services( if I choose to go Easter Sunday, we sing at the vigil so we aren't required. I'll likely go anyhow). I actually looked up the Greek Orthodox calendar and this year it is celebrated the same day.

I somehow had a feeling that loyal caring Ampara,was not going to give up on checking up in her friend , and that Juan, ironically, would be O's rescuer even though O has treated him so badly. I've known guys like Juan , who are always there to help.

Yes, Mar teetering around on those high heels in those teeny,skintight , short dresses ...yikes. Pregnancy is a time in life for comfortable clothes and stability in shoewear.

It seems that Val and Nick are end game since they are always there for each other . Arturo has to grow up. He's not ready to be there wholeheartedly for someone .

So, Leo is starting to miss his siblings as the mansion clears out, but Paula's goal seems to be a life in which she and Leo and the servants are the only residents . How lonely and sad. Susan

Another eventful episode and summary! Thank you again for the daily update, Kat!

I finally figured who Suzy is! Thank you for clarifying! She is definitely up to something, under the table!

I thought the scene with Memo’s dad setting a trap was fun. Memo can be very scary!!! I wonder if his dad is a good guy or corruptible like the whole family seems to be. He is smart enough to figure this much out. Do we know his background? Is he related to any other characters? If we know this already, I’ve forgotten!

I think the scene with Adrian holding Luci’s hands was a little creepy. I wonder if a) he might desire her in a carnal way, or b) if he was feeling emotional at what he might have to do if she figures it all out.

The scene where Joaquin pulls off a perfect solution to the problem of the crooked doctor by letting Furia get shot and then killing the doc was frustrating, but it shows the bad guys are well organized.

Interesting Karina quit her job. She knows where a lot of the dead bodies are buried, so will she be in danger?

I thought Fabiola was a goner, but there may be hope yet!

Was Dad looking to hire Daniel in some capacity, or is that who he got the party photos frim. As I was typing notes during the show I may have missed why he was there. Dad has so far only been in 3 or 4 episodes as a background figure and I haven't caught his name yet. I'm hoping he isn't bad like the others. He "looks" like a good guy, if you know what I mean. He doesn't look scary.

Susy definitely said CBD, I'm assuming oil or medical type. A lot of people do side gigs selling essential oils that I know. Maybe that is her other job to earn money. Is CBD it legal in Mexico? does anyone know?

Steve, I was just wondering if Susy wanted an abortion. We don't know enough about her, except she is likely poor and works in Omar's convenience store. A child without a father may be hard for her to raise.

Kat, it was when Enrique was holding his goddaughter’s hand for quite awhile while telling her how much she meant to him and she should quit her job. It started to make me uncomfortable, and those were two possibilities that occurred to me. But, I’m often wrong on predicting telenovelas, so probably nothing.

Memo’s dad is Mateo Solis. Mom is Mariana. I hope Mateo is a good guy, but his son is Memo!

We’ll find out more tonight!

I finally got to watch this episode . wow. Berthe likes them young and corrupt . She seems to be wearing a very sturdy girdle .Is she the police commissioner? She is quite a fashion plate with her clothes and jewelry.

I am still trying to figure out who Natalie is and how she fits into the story.

Mateo seems to be a good guy. He is a university prof ,and I think Daniel is in one of his classes . I have seen this actor play good guys and bad guys .He just played a good guy in " Juana." I guess despicable , entitled Memo takes after his mother . Maybe Mateo isn't even his father. Susan
 

PAPAS #58 Part 1

Previously, Tino tries to rouse himself and gain some coherency after ingesting Dámaso’s tainted brew. Unfortunately, Aidé arrives and sees the rumpled bed occupied by a smirking Fed. Tino then bypasses an incensed Fed, leaving her open arms empty. She looks for someone else and conveniently finds a shirtless Chano, recently rejected by Lichita (saying the thrill is gone). They make use of a storage room for a tawdry tryst.

Augusto is fixing Emi’s wheelchair (dare we hope he finds the microphone??) Emi confides in a horrified Scarlet what Fed has been doing to him.

Wretched Paulina tells Fed she wants Lila but not Emi…

Pipe inadvertently lets Guzmán know where he is. Clara Luz and Rudolf are served with a restraining order.

Tino and Aidé meet with Brezelian but he is not alone; Guzmán is there as well.

Tino questions Brezelian as to why Guzmán is there. Aidé calls Guzmán a traitor and in turn, Guzmán accuses Tino of fraud against Maxiclick. A confused Brezelian asks if it is true. The accusations continue but Brezelian has heard enough and leaves as Guzmán sits and smirks. Aidé has to physically restrain Tino. Aidé seems to ask Guzmán about his hate for Tino. Guzmán bares his teeth.

Clara Luz and Rudolf fret as to what they are going to do about the restraining order. She tells an upset Rudolf to calm down. She calls Brother Cervantes and they beg for his help

Augusto and Bertha argue about the children. Again.

A beside himself Emi continues his horror story to sweet Scarlet who puts her hands over her face in shock. She tries to reassure him and kisses him on the cheek (I bet he never washes that spot again). He frets and implores Scarlet not to tell anyone and she finally utters a reluctant ”OK”. They shake on it. Augusto and Bertha come in …

Pipe has face time with Clara Luz and Rudolf on a large screen TV. “It’s complicated” Clara Luz says truthfully, tears streaming down her face. Adios they tell each other, Pipe looking joyless and crushed. Rudolf tells him how much they care as the call ends. He tries to buoy Clara Luz and they hug each other tightly. They later continue the conversation over coffee and hug some more.

Tino and Aide stroll home discussing Lichita, Chano and Guzmán. Jason texts Tino something about the kids and Paulina.

PAPAS #58 Part 2

At Maxiclick, Fed is upbraiding Chano. She makes that closed mouth motion and uses her hand to indicate she wants him to keep his mouth shut. She gives him the I’m watching you look, moving her fingers to her eyes.

Jason, Paulina, Lila and Emi are outside as Lila pushes Emi in his wheelchair. Jason lifts the chair so he can get up on the curb. Jason kneels talking to Emi about the US Emi’s eyes wide as saucers. Paulina stares expressionlessly. Paulina and Lila hold hands; she asks her favorite and Lila says chocolate. Paulina does not speak nicely to Emi, and chastises him for the way he speaks to his sister. All of a sudden, Emi clutches his chest and yells “Mama”. Lila and Jason immediately run to his side and kneel down next to him. Paulina stays frozen in place.

Jason calls Tino, Emi is not doing well. Did you call an ambulance a distraught Tino asks? Yes. Chano will go with him to the hospital. Jason can’t believe Paulina is just standing there, back turned to her son.

Aidé has to tell the children Emi is in the hospital, poor Scarlet is heartsick as is Lila. Uli and Circe offer their love, support and hugs.

Tino is looking at pictures of the kids on his phone when Jason and Paulina come up. Jason talks about getting Emi to the US, Paulina of course discourages that saying he has to get better first. Tino is crying and Jason is genuinely concerned. Paulina stares coldly.

Brother Cervantes calls Clara Luz. I am not sure what he tells her but she cries she is his mother. She takes out her handbag and her diary falls out. She flashes back to Silvana and Pura talking, Pura so happy for Silvana. She flashes back to something Brother Cervantes told her…

Rudolf pushes an idea about doing a show, something about a mariachi band, he tells Brezelian he needs the money.

Aidé is at the hospital. She tells Tino how brave Emi is. Where are Jasona and Paulina she asks. In the cafeteria Tino answers. They get up to see the doctor.

Fed, Igor, Aidé, Guzmán and Facundo (the brainless trust) have a meeting. He brings up the staff, getting worked up as Facundo motions he calm down. Tino is discussed and Fed says “oops”, so you know nothing good is being said.

The doctor tells Tino and Aidé Emi’s condition is “special”. Discussion ensues about him going to a US hospital; Tino is nervous about the operation.

PAPAS #58 Part 3 of 3

Jason is almost in tears telling Paulina how sick Emi is. “Aren’t you affected? It’s your son” he tells her. She tries to tell him she is but he stares as she continues playing on her phone.

Clara Luz is outside as the brothers lead the students out of the school. She hides behind a tree, watching.

Lichita is walking through the halls of Maxiclick with Chofis. Icky Igor says Guzmán is looking for her. Facundo gives Lichita a lascivious look.

The brothers discuss Pipe as the children play in the school yard; Clara Luz is hiding behind another tree. The ball gets loose and rolls to the tree where Clara Luz is. Pipe goes after it and smiles in delight seeing her.

Chofis is in Guzmán ‘s office at the table, he on the other side. He looks very sad and wants to tell her a secret. She pulls up her chair and asks if it is about her mother. No he says. He gets upset, crying he is all alone. She puts her hand on his arm in sympathy and support. Te quiero mucho she says putting her hands on his face. Uh oh…

Tino and Aidé are in Emi’s room. She tells him how wonderful he is and what an enormous heart he has. Tino kneels by his bed, kissing Emi’s hand which is intertwined with his. Aidé stands behind him. They all hold hands and end with a primal happy scream. Fed intrudes joining in, completely ruining the moment. Aidé leaves and Emi stares, pure fright emanating from his eyes.

Seeing her daughter very upset, Aidé talks with Scarlet asking her what is wrong. Scarlet says she is praying. Then, she hands her mother a picture (I wonder if it is the one Emi drew of himself looking very sad). Aidé asks Scarlet very gently and lovingly to please tell her. We see her whisper to Aidé.

Jason and Paulina come up to Tino in the hall outside Emi’s room. Something is said about the operation and the US which I couldn’t understand.

Oh no…We see Clara Luz has called a taxi! She and Pipe get in and as she looks around guiltily, the car pulls out…

I left a few placeholders to account for dialogue I could not interpret. Kindly add what I could not; thank you for your assistance…

Las hijas #62 part 1

O doesn't want to be a nuisance. She's going back to her pueblo and letting her children live their lives. 5 minutes later ( I can't believe the passengers and driver aren't in an uproar) Val prevails and mom agrees to go home with her.

Back at the meeting Arturo wants to postpone the meeting until Val and Nick are available. Luis blows up in anger about another delay and storms out. Leo and Paula congratulate each other on their input to the meeting.

Val sits in the back seat hugging so Arturo's call finally gets picked up up by her. She apologizes, something came up. Arturo hasn't been able to contact Nick. Oh, he's with me

Paula and Leo are happy. She says finally your family will be proud of me after this launch. She is worried about Luis though. He got angry so rapidly. Leo agrees. Paula thinks it's Mar's fault.

Mar runs into Juan in the barrio. She thanks him for saving her mom. She wishes him all the best in his life with his wife and baby because he is a good man.

Nick drops Val and O off at the apartment. O is impressed with the building. He has to get to work. She gives him a lingering thank you hug which O witnesses

Back to Mar and Juan as their theme song plays. They hold hands as she says, good-bye, forever...Susana is in sight and as they walk away from each other she demands to know what he is doing with her. He remains silent. Mar is driven away with tears streaming.

O loves Val's place. Val needs to change but wants mom to rest, she has had a couple of difficult days. O says to herself, she loves me. I'm important to her...

Susana is hanging out the wash as Juan returns. She treats him like a child and tells him to forget about Mar and never see her again. Juan walks away as she yells after him. Susana goes inside to a livid Cami who overheard their argument ( no surprise as Susana was yelling for all the world to hear).

Val calls Mar and let's her know she has mom at her apartment. Mar is glad to hear that. Val says do you want to talk to her? No, I'm not ready. It's on speakerphone so I overhears Mar's rejection. Val walks back into the main living area. O tells her, don't pressure your sister to see me. Val is like, you overheard. Yes. It's too soon for Mar to forgive me but I just want to protect her from that viper Paula. Val is confused about why.

Nick makes it to the office. Paula and Leo winder where he's been, he missed the meeting. Val has a problem I had to help her with. Paula says what a good brother in law you are. Did you tell Arturo why you had to help his girlfriend. But don't worry, everything is taken care of about the launch. Nick is off to see dad.


 

Las hijas #62 part 2

Val wants facts. O says she is sure Paula was behind the painting caper. O says she is playing with Mar and things are going to get worse. She is capable of doing anything. Mar won't listen to me, but she will to you, Val. Please talk to her and warn her.

Nick tries to talk calmly to Luis who is flying off the handle ( these drops are causing aggressive behavior in Luis).

Val visits Amparo trying to mend fences. Amparo forgives her as the true friend she is. ( Shouldn't someone have gone to work and not be making friend visits).

I get lost in the business talk. Nick promises to personally pay dad back for any funds used by the company. The line will be a success. Luis is still far from calm.

Paula returns to the man. Mar tells her about O. Paula is glad she is ok. Have you seen her. Mar says no. I think Paula tells her she should see O, but I'm not sure.

Arturo rings Val's door and waits with closed eyes and pursed lips for Val, who isn't there. It's O. She smacks him across the lips which rescues him from his reverie.

Val's next call is on Paula at the mansion. Where's Mar? Resting Paula says. Good, you are the one I want to talk to anyhow. Paula smiles and says your mother was kicked out of this house due to her lack of respect for Cecilia. Val is like, wipe that grin off your face you hypocrite. Riches and a mansion mean nothing to mom( really? Or is she saying they mean nothing to herself?). Paula scoffs, of course those things are important to everyone. Val says not everyone is like you. You stay away from my sister or I swear I will make you pay. Mar arrives and stands up for Paula. Paula leaves them to talk alone ( but stays in earshot). Val tells her mom is telling the truth. You can't trust Paula. Mar has decided that Val is also a hypocrite. If mom says something against you she is wrong, but if it is against me you always take her side. Val can't believe it. Mar has total faith in Paula, she's her only friend. Mar says why do you think I'm so stupid and that I believe whatever anyone tells me ( you've got that right Mar. Projection at its finest,). Val says, I didn't say that. You're just like mom, you think I'm stupid and easily manipulated. I know what you are trying to pull. You don't want to live with Mom so you are trying to get her back here, right. Paula smiles in delight.

O is putting Arturo in the hot seat. What are your intentions with my daughter. Arturo says, the best. O knows his reputation with the ladies. He says, that was then this is now. O wants to believe him but she can't.

Well Mar has turned into a bitch. She says aula opened my eyes. I'm no longer the sniveling doormat I used to be. Val hopes she doesn't regret her actions, but she loves her. She goes to hug her goodbye but Mar pushes her away.

O and Arturo argue. As he leaves he tells her to let Val know he was there.

Mar and Paula are bonding some more. Mar doesn't understand how Val is suddenly on moms side when they never got along. I bet it's because she doesn't want mom staying with her in her new place. Paula is surprised, she thought they were at the Casita. No, Mar says work gave her an apartment in the same building as Nick. Paula twists the knife by saying she must be paid well. So sorry she is living your dream.


 

Las hijas #62 part 3

Ah, the truth comes out, Arturo can't visit Val alone now mom's moved in. I guess he's hoping to get some too. ( I'm thinking neither brother will until Val makes her final decision.). He's just afraid her presence will complicate things. Val says no way, everything will be fine. Kiss kiss

Paula and Mar again. More brainwashing. Mar tells her the history between Arturo and Val.

Val returns home. O says Art was here. Yeah I know. O didn't realize how serious the two were, but what about Nick. Val says Nick? Yes. You two really get along well. Val says yes, at times, and others, not so much. But mom, for the sake of our relationship, don't interfere.

Nick and Arturo meet in the hall of the apartment. I guess Arturo has a bone to pick with. What were you doing going off with my girl without telling me. Nick tells him what occurred. You know I'm totally behind your relationship with her. They then talk about the sportswear line and that it can't fail

Paula is buttering up Leo. He goes to get changed and she grabs his phone from the nightstand, plays an audio clip of Arturo and Nick talking about Val, I think and deletes it. Then she says I'm going to destroy you Valeria.

Cami is in her room. Juan comes in. It's dinner time. She isn't hungry. They discuss Mar. He swears he only ran into her because she was looking for her mom. Nothing is going on between us. You and our baby are the most important things to me.

Nick is calling someone named Michelle. Forner flame? In Boston. ( A familiar face to some of us, she was the redhead in the lottery winner story that I didn't watch, and in Sed De venganza..she was from Boston in that show too). She is still a student it appears. Looks like he's been gone a year. He thinks he's going to return there, he needs to clear his head ( of Valeria).

Val and O are eating dinner ( with empty bowls in front of them, I know models need to watch there weight, but this is a bit extreme,). O says I always dreamed of living in a place like this with the lights of the city. Val says living in the country must have been nice. Tell me about your childhood. What were my grandparents like ( ok this is a way overdue conversation. How can a grown woman not have asked her mother about her past?). Now the soup is brought to the table as O tries to avoid the subject.

The maid catches Mar putting the drops in Luis tea. Mar says she's giving him some medicine. She leaves and the short maid comes in. They both are confused about the medicine.

Arturo has set up a breakfast date for Val. They talk about their feelings for each other as their theme song plays. She tells him I trust you more than ever as they kiss.

Kat, your recap was wise, witty and wonderful.

I don't believe Paula imparts anything at all to Mar. It is all about Mar who spills every little thought in her vacuous head, while Paula soaks every little juicy tidbit up, filing things away for reference. "I'm no longer the sniveling doormat I used to be" was pathetic and sadly, completely untrue.

One look at the hug Nick gave Valeria showed Ofelia exactly how he feels about her daughter while Valeria herself remains clueless.

Valeria struck a nerve with Ofelia asking her about her parents. I think Ofelia will remain tight lipped. For now.

So Nick did have a life, once upon a time. A getaway seems like a good idea as we wait for Mar's "poisoning" of Luis to be revealed.

Another great week.

Another great line: Roberto is ready to estrellar (crush) la Estrella (star) prosecutor Berta. So there!

Question: Why would Francisco and company bother with trying to erase Fabiola’s memory via electro shock treatments and and anti-psychotic drugs? Why didn’t they just kill her in the first place? It would seem that would have been much more efficient and less risky.

Roberto’s suspension was shorter than anticipated. Good.

If possible, I dislike Memo more with each episode.

I didn’t like Enrique telling Luciana that if she were to go out with Roberto, it wouldn’t be good and there would be problems. Sounded like a threat to me.

I did like Karina leaving Enrique high and dry in more ways than one.

Guzman knows where Pipe is as he put him there. Guzman got him to tell him that Clara and Rudolph have been to see him. Clara and Rudolph explain to Pipe that they can't visit him right now but they love him. Pipe thinks they are abandoning him again.

Brezelian isn't going to use either of the companies now for his nostalgia tour.

Jason and Paulina want to get the kids from school to spend unsupervised time as the judge has permitted.

Jason is describing how much easier it is in the US to get around in a wheelchair, handicapped ramps are everywhere, no e of this difficult curbs to make er like this city. Emi can only imagine how much better things would be there.

Brother C says Guzman is taking Pipe out of the school and sending him to Switzerland for real un 3 days.

The staff meeting is about how they lost the brezelian contract. They think curvaceous Luchita may be the way to influence brezelian to come back on board.

Tino can't afford the operation for Emi which is why he is concerned. The Dr wants the tumor removed asap. Stress is accelerating the tumor growth.

Tino is doing a king Solomon (that is the king that suggested cutting the child in half to the two women that claimed he was their son, right?) moment in his head. He is renouncing his claims to Emi for his health. Emi needs to go to the US with Jason and Paulina to get the care he so desperately needs even though he is devastated to be separated from his son. It is his only hope.

It looks like Lichita may be pushed onto the Investor . Igor and Facundo are Guzman 's creepy, witless minions.

I think that we are about to see Guzman make his move on Chofis. This guy is juggling so many evil plans . I cannot wait to see his anvil.I guess we can't hope for coyotes , but this evil master needs a harsh ending .

I hope that eventually good heartedly Jason sees how heartless Pauline is and drops her like a hot potato.

I wonder If Scarlet whispered to Aide about Fede terrorizing Emi. I hope so. I cannot stand hearing Fede'ss stupid singsongtormenting of a child.

And when will we discover who the twins' dad is ? It can't be terrified Guzman , and I don't have any respect for Dam. Susan

As you pointed out, it looks like Paula's drops are designed to change Luis's personality and not kill him! Aggressive Luis!!! Speaking of personality changes, the new Mar is not appealing - snippy with everyone except bestie Paula! So now, we have the writers messing with the personalities of the only two likable characters in the show - that's definitely a good idea!!! Hehe

I couldn't agree with you more about Susana treating Juan like a child, it continues to drive me crazy that the parents in this show try to treat their grown children like children and control them! I don't know what bothers me more that it's unreasonable or that it's delusional!!! LOL You can't order someone to stop loving someone!!! Life would be a lot easier if it worked that way probably, but it doesn't.

This story line needs life support at this point, is it just me? Or is there anything actually interesting happening anywhere? Every storyline has cooled off and is just simmering..... where's the juice?

And where's the Urban? Have we heard from Urban this week?

So, Guzman threatened to move Pipe in three days...no wonder Clara Luz pulled such a desperate ploy to spirit Pipe away. I fear this will not end well.

Coyotes (a la Kendra in Amores Verdaderos) would indeed be a fitting finish for Guzman. I hope the writers have something "special" in mind.

I don't see Jason staying with Paulina once he sees what she is truly like. I suspect them taking Emi to the US for the surgery is the very last thing she wants. I'm sure she will try to get out of it somehow.

If Scarlet was telling Aide what is going on with Emi (and I think she did) at least one of the heinous witches will be brought down. I think Paulina will bring about her own downfall by her obvious actions and reactions.

I am afraid Dam IS the twins father. I can't see it being anyone else we've seen but anything is possible!

Diana, I'm not sure what Tino's long term plans for Emi is. He just wants him to have a chance and he realizes he is no financial position to help him. I think he and Jason are realizing neither are the bad guy in this situation. Jason certainly is getting Paulina's number. I think Tino is offering him custody without waiting for the judges ruling so I imagine it may not be a totally formal arrangement. He could let the mother take the child for medical treatment as maybe a joint costudy situation.

Susan, I have never seen the Fede actress before and her sing song voice and in your face assets in every episode will make it very difficult to ever voluntarily watch anything she is in going forward ( or backwards, I won't watch a rerun if she is in it.)

Thanks for all the recovery prayers. I’m home now but a friend is coming to help me. I’m afraid I won’t get to watch much this week. I never even thought of using my phone to watch. But I do have trouble getting full episodes on my I pad. I’ll catch up next weekend when hopefully all the “extras” attatched to me are gone!
I’m watching Fugitives too and really like it. I like reading the recaps after I watch the show, but that may have to change.

Mar has been transformed into a brat . Her meeting with Juan , who is now the hero who saved her mother , indicated to me that these two will end up together .

I think that Cami will miscarry . She confessed to someone recently That she wasn't totally in love with Juan...while Mar is. After all this mess, the writers will have these two original young lovers back together at the end...with bebe.

Uh oh , the maid saw clueless Mar putting the drops into Luis's tea and told Maid#2. Mar will now be accused of hurting (killing???) Luis.

Paula is diabolical. I can't wait to see Leo finding out how awful Paula is.

Paula is so adept at leaving a room and then lurking behind the corner to eavesdrop. Ugh

O has bounced back from near death to interfere with Val's lovelife.

Kat, I would like to say a quick word about Africa Zavala who plays Fed. Her character here ("in your face assets" was perfect) is cringeworthy and is everything you noted. She has been cast in a few similar roles but a few in which she did a very good job as her characters were far different.

The first time I saw her was in La Malquerida and she along with Osvaldo de Leon were and remain one of my favorite all time couples. Her role was a character that was the polar opposite of this. She was kind, loving and had the purest heart. I say this only as had I not seen her in that, I am sure I would feel just as you do. I don't know if she will ever get the chance to play a character like that again but she was marvelous...

Diana, yes , I watched La Malquerida but it was a busy time in my life with family and work, so I don't remember much about the story . What year was that show? Now that you brought it up, I remember that Africa played a ramera with a heart of gold, and I think it was the first time I saw Oswaldo. My strongest memory was the anvil that the villain got ...Alberto Estrello , who is a favorite of yours and mine and plays good guys and villains equally well.
I saw online that Africa plays a nun ( maybe a fake nun ) in a new telenovela starring Gabe Soto. Susan

I agree that the Fede character is really unpleasant. I cringe every time she appears. I also thought Africa Zavala was great in Malquerida. She was the lead in La jefa del campeón, and I thought she did very well with that role. However, she now seems typecast in these less flattering roles. A waste of good talent.

Liz, it’s good to hear you are recovering. Good telenovelas will help. I hope you can access them more easily.

Juegos #19

Karina sticks to her guns and breaks it off with Enrique, she can't risk losing her daughter. Enrique says it's always Roberto. She agrees.

Daniel is upset with Susy, you had a relationship with a minor. She wants to go back to her village and have the baby.

Oh great, Mateo is a lecher hitting on a female student, Clara, to give her passing grades. His proclivities are known to Francisco and Enrique who managed to hush up 2 prior accusations. Enrique tells him you will return home, to the house that Francisco purchased for his daughter and you will keep quiet about our sons' accident. He returns home but tells Mariana that things have changed, he's moving into the guest room.

Ines sees a campaign photo of Enrique and Karina which causes her to suspect an intimate relationship between them. She confronts Karina about it, but Karina says she quit to spend more time with her daughter. Ines gets that, come back to work . It will be fewer hours. Karina continues to refuse, even when Enrique visits her to try and change her mind. They fear she knows too much so they need her back in their fold.

Gaby thinks Victoria is Dad's girlfriend, but the two point out a photo is not evidence. Victoria lost her necklace, I returned it. We are only co-workers and friends. The same reassurance was given to Luci earlier.

Susy tells Omar and Elena about being pregnant and returning to her pueblo. They didn't even know she had a BF. She tells them she will be a single mom. Omar is upset the father isn't stepping up. She says he can't, he's dead. Toby is the father. Initially they are upset, but then they are happy to know who the mother of their grandchild is and will help her.

It's Alexandra's Birthday. Daniel found out on social media and made her a card which he gives her in the parking lot at college. He leaves and Adrian shows up with a pricey bouquet for her birthday. They have a surprise planned for later. The surprise is a party at his house with schoolmates and lots of alcohol..and a bracelet which I guess is like a promise ring. Clara brings a date, Daniel. He is like a fish out of water. Alexandra, he and Clara hang out a bit with a fuming Adrian drinking more and more. Pato and Luci talk, she lets him know that she and Roberto are an item. Memo overhears and rushes to uncle to share the news. Enrique flexes his padrino muscles at Luci about her being in a relationship with Roberto. ( I don't see why it is an issue in Luci's mind so hopefully she will tell him off in the next episode.)

Susan, La Malquerida aired in 2014 (I remember only as that was the first show I helped to recap) :). Yes, Alberto Estrella went out in a "blaze" of non glory didn't he? An amazing actor, I totally agree.

Babachita, "It’s unclear still who the father of the mellizos is! No good options!" is exactly right! I think it's too late to introduce a new character, but that's my only hope! :)

Diana, yes, 2014 was a busy time with work and family , so I watched La Mal, but I guess I wasn't concentrating . Too many things going on ! I remember that I wasn't very impressed with the galan. I think it was Christian Meyer , who went on to play Zorro, which I wasn't able to watch at the time . i wonder how many telenovelas you and i have watched together over the years. Susan

Gracias for the great recaps; I finally caught up. My absence has been due my tax appointment and various medical issues. BTW, we should be hearing "Ultimas Semanas" on Monday; Wikipedia says this series has 82 episodes.

Mar is becoming quite the little bitch under Paula's influence. No big surprise as she is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. BTW, how much time has actually passed? Why isn't her pregnancy showing?

There will need to be a big reveal ASAP about who isn't Luis' son but that is likely to be the last question answered. Paula will have to fall first.

I've always been a bad judge of how much time is passing during TNs but you're right, not the slightest indication Mar is pregnant.

Nothing has been said so far about Paula's family and at this point I don't think we will hear anything. We know she was as much a gold digger as Ofeliabut that she had also been a prostitute,which Leo is still in the dark about. Which means he has to find out.

We haven't seen Miss Priss in a number of episodes which makes me wonder whether the Mexican audience found her as annoying as we did. She's probably in the manicomio,which is where she belongs.
