I'm late to the party. I actually didn't finish yesterday's episode but I'm mostly through tonight's. I've decided the actor portraying Fabian has what would be called a sing song voice and I'm not a fan. I guess that's why I prefer Gabriel. Valentino is copying that inflexion too. I've seen him without so I'm distracted by it.
 

A.MAR Capítulo 9 Notes from the Couch . . .

Nothing much new happened as the characters processed their recent actions and contemplated their current situations.

Yazmín

Yazmín is now getting her pills from Erika. She doesn't know how to pay her back. Erika reminds her about what she is supposed to be doing and is not doing. Yazmín says she made it known to her father that she wasn't going to object if he was going out with somebody like Erika. Erika wants to know his response. Yazmín says there was none and that Erika shouldn't be waiting for him to make the first move. Yazmín suggests they get together for supper and then Erika can keep supplying her pills Erika agrees.

Erika ends up showing up at Fabián's house where he is giving Estrella the money that he is lending her for her mother's meds and therapy. Erika is surprised to see her there. Estrella explains the situation and leaves her with her novio. Fabián tells Erika that he is grateful for what she is doing for Yazmín but they are not going to get back together again and wonders why Estrella still thinks they are novios. He asks Erika to leave so he can have some alone time with his daughter. Yazmín arrives as she is leaving and throws a fit when she finds out that Fabián asked Erika to leave. Fabián wants to talk to Yazmín about her suicide attempt. She just wants to express her hatred for him blaming him for her mother's death. Later, Erika tells her that she wants Yazmín to help her father see that if he cuts her out of her life he will definitly lose her .

Yazmín calls Javier who happens to be in medical school. She wants to get together with him. He cuts the call short and tells his buddies that ti was his girlfriend who cannot live with out him.

Gonzalo finds his son upset about what happened with Yazmín after he asked Erika to leave. Fabián explains there is just something about Erika he doesn't like some times, other times she is great. His father thinks that Erika is desperate for another chance with him and if she is such a good influence on Yazmín, he should reconsider his decision. (OH, NO!!!)

Estrella

Estrella is much more comfortable now that Fabián is lending her the money for her mother and that she will be paying him back when she is able. When she tells Brisa about the loan and how good Fabián has been with her and their mother. Brisa cannot believe that she got taken in by him so easily because everyone knows that it's nothing for nothing with him. Brisa blames him for the situation their family finds itself in. Estrella corrects her and says it is their father who is to blame having taken the loan from the union.

Later, Fabián ask Estrella if his father can stop by Meche's house and visit with her as she recuperates. Estrella asks why is he doing all of this for her and her family remembering what Brisa warned her about. He tells her not to to make it all so difficult. She says she knows nothing is free in this life. He suggests they start fresh and they do by introducing themselves. (CUTE!)

Marina

Marina is now working as a server at Erika's place.

Marina is the victim of a jealous physical attack by Brisa. Gabriel has to drag her off of Marina. Brisa tells Gabriel that Marina has to go. Whenever Marina appears, he and Iker are so attracted to her, it doesn't matter if she is there or not. Marina tells Gabriel that as soon as she gets her first check, she will be moving out to give Brisa her space. Neither Gabriel or Iker are happy about it.

Iker tells Marina that he dreams of his mother playing with him on the beach. Her face is always blurry and he never really can see what she looks like. In the dreams, his mother always leaves him. His mother died when he was young. His father lost any photos he had of her.

As Fabián stands outside talking to Gabriel, he notices him and Marina waving at each other while she waits her tables. He says maybe it isn't only Iker who has gotten attached to Marina. Gabriel insists he is going to marry Brisa. (REALLY?)

Perla

Perla is crying at the beach over finding out that Valentín is not interested in her. Pascual appears and tells her that he is interested in her. She tells him she isn't interested in him. Later, when Valentín tries to put in a good word for Pascual, she tells him, too, that she isn't interested. She doesn't need a man.
(NOPE!)

Meche

Gonzalo appears at Meche's door to visit her during her convalescence with a little gift in hand. She refuses his gift and company. She sends him on his way but concludes that he isn't really that ugly after all. (PRAGMATIC?)

Javier in med school caught my eye also. He's going to be one of those pill pushing doctors I see.

The one benefit of social media is if you post photos and you lose everything in a fire, tornado or as in this case a hurricane, you still have digital photos that you can recover. I can't believe there are no photos of Iker's mom anywhere. Is she really dead.

Brisa had a point blaming Meche's ailments on Estrella. Her mother has a business, she shouldn't have dragged her out on the water hauling in nets. I don't understand the need to be in the syndicate. Didn't they sell their first haul without being a member. I know, I'm trying to make sense of the business side of this show when the writers are just telling a story as they see fit.

Kat, no, they were not allowed to bring in even their first catch to sell until they were members of the union. They could set their nets but that was all. The union evidently controls the fishing industry in that town.

Javier certainly will be a “pill pushing doctor. ” That was a good one. : )

I keep wondering when Sergio will reappear and if Beatriz will be pregnant or replaced.

Jarifa, thank you for the fine recap.

"She sends him on his way but concludes that he isn't really that ugly after all. (PRAGMATIC?)" had me smiling away. I like these brief but telling glimpses into what the characters are thinking and feeling, especially when little has been revealed as to who Meche really is.

Brisa, trying to protect her get out of work card, was fierce going mano a mano on Marina. Further, her bad mouthing Fabian to Estrella had me frowning. Her picture smears a bit with each passing day. ☹

I liked Perla telling Pascual the truth; no way, no how. As for Valentin, she has already proven she is a survivor and she didn't need a man to do it; she saved herself.

Erika is here, there and everywhere, seeing everything from her perch, swooping down to cause more mayhem. I can't wait to see what Fabian does when he finds out she's Yazmin's drug supplier.

Yazmin needs a stern lecture and some time out in her room. Fabian needs to tell her she cannot speak to him that way.

Fabian "...says maybe it isn't only Iker who has gotten attached to Marina. Gabriel insists he is going to marry Brisa. (REALLY?)" I couldn't believe he's going to foolishly forge ahead. Here's hoping Gabriel comes to his senses and sees what the other characters and viewerville see so clearly.

Juegos #51

I didn't take notes during the show. Sometimes I just enjoy watching it. This was one of those times. Natalia was fun in this episode. She plans a surprise party for Fabiola who has been released from the hospital. Poor mute Fabi doesn't appreciate it and is overwhelmed. Manalo tells Fabi that Natalia is her sister. It's nice she has an adopted family. Chofis later on gets a great big hug from her as all is forgiven now that Chofis knows that Joachin is a bad guy. Natalia tries her hand at matchmaking suggesting she come along to the dinner with Q, a hot older widower....

There were 2 main plots in this episode. The truth about Mateo was one. The female students in his class are being questioned by the , I'll call her Dean, if the department. 2 of them admit Mateo made them uncomfortable with suggestive hints to improve their grades. Clara says they are lying. ( Earlier we see her pretty bruised, but free, after her tied up ordeal. He has threatened her so she is keeping quiet). Alex tells her that he was really unfair to Daniel. Daniel gets called to the Dean's office to explain his situation with Mateo. He figured he was expelled because of the Ferrer's, and that his nephew was involved in his hit and run. Mateo appeared to be protecting his nephew in his opinion.

Now for the biggie. The death of Leo. The scene was cleaned so there isn't much to go on. Roberto tracks down the neighbor who has quite a bit to tell about the coming and going from Leo's apartment, including Mariana being quite drunk there last night, looking for Leo.

It's crisis mode at Enrique's headquarters when his meeting is interrupted by Francisco with the news of Leo's death. He thinks it was Enrique. After the dust settles and all those present realize none of them killed him, memo recalls his mother's anguish and rushes home. She is out of it again. He finally gets the story from her about what happened, but she is fuzzy on details. I'm thinking a taxi driver is out there that drove her to the cabin. And I have no idea how she got home, unless it was Ines. After seeing Mariana going towards Leo's place she apparently followed her. It isn't shown if she saw Mariana there, but she is the one who did the deep cleaning at the crime scene. It wasn't a thorough job apparently as some fingerprints or footprints were found. She did grab Leo's phone though. In the last scene she is listening to the recording when Enrique surprises her. She drops the phone as it continues. Shock from Enrique.

I'm off to bed. There was more that happened but those were the main points.

Thanks Jarifa, great detailed “notes”. Gonzalo is giving his son bad advice again. He doesn’t seem to see the Ericka that we see. Erika should talk to him about helping her win Fabian and forget about the daughter helping her. Is Erika getting the drugs from Yazmin’s boyfriend? I was shocked he’s in med school.

Gabriel saw most of the “fight” between Brisa and Marina and still wants to marry Brisa. The last telenovela I saw him in he made equally bad choices for girlfriends. Brisa gets worse every episode.

I like Meche and Gonzalo together. I’m sure she will soften toward him.

We saw all that money Fabian had. I’m betting it disappears at some point. Either by Erika or Yazmin. And I bet Estrella will get blamed.

When will they all discover their dad was a victim with a great surprise planned. No one suspects a thing yet.

Diana, yes, I am liking this novela, too. I felt that last night was one of those treading water episodes and I am not complaining. I enjoyed your evaluation of the main characters.

"I liked Perla telling Pascual the truth; no way, no how." It was a breath of fresh air actually having somebody be straight forward in one of these novelas. No hesitancy, malentendido or interrupted conversation: just the truth. Yay!

You made Erika appropriately sound like a bird of prey which she is: "Erika is here, there and everywhere, seeing everything from her perch, swooping down to cause more mayhem."

As for Meche, I hope she has a bigger role going forward.

Liz, yes, it seems like the men in this novela are not too smart when it comes to their romantic choices: "Gabriel saw most of the “fight” between Brisa and Marina and still wants to marry Brisa." and in the case of Fabián him actually considering Gonzalo's very bad advice.

I fear you are right about Fabián's stash of cash.

"When will they all discover their dad was a victim with a great surprise planned?" I do not think it will be anytime soon but I could be wrong. It has to come out eventually, right? I hope.

Thanks Kat, you got all the important stuff. Clara looked so guilty in the scene in the classroom with the dean. Especially when she accused the other girls of lying. It seems Daniel is pretty sure Adrian was involved. So he has to realize Alex was there too, as twice in his memories he’s heard a female voice.

I was shocked that Ines ended up killing him. If she’s telling the truth. She definitely loved him, but I guess she heard her father’s words in her head. Mariana was in no condition to clean the place, she doesn’t even know what happened to the phone. I couldn’t figure out why Roberto and his crew didn’t find it. Now we know!

I can relate to enjoying the show more when just watching. When I recapped Juana I quit enjoying the show. I didn’t erase the episodes as I figured I’d rewatch at some point, but eventually I erased them.
 

Juegos

Ines was always the one with the cool head while Mariana pinged off the walls, so I can see her as murderer. But, I wondered if Memo followed his mother, or someone else might have been the murderer. Watching Soler was cringey. I am surprised he is gone, but we are getting close to the end, so things have to start winding up.

Speaking of Memo, I thought the actor was really good here, showing his panic and his love and concern for his mother.

Clara is a tragic figure. I hope she finds the strength to tell the truth soon.

Ooooh! A sister mystery! She has a rich-lady house on the water. Why are the blinds all drawn? Is she maybe dead? Or is there some other backstory?

Why was the shoot-out in a parking garage or maybe a warehouse? So many opportunities for a ricochet. Why would a probably rich gang be hanging around there to get shot at? If our guys could find Reha so easily, they should be able to find the other gang’s people and pick them off one by one.

The reunion with the stepdad was sweet. Say, maybe Karsu could get a job with the fishing people! Now she’ll have a connection.

She is too proud (and too tired) to demand alimony, but she should insist on child support. It was interesting that her mother didn’t have enough money to pay the hospital bill in a single payment. I thought she was in very good shape financially.

 

Juegos

Liz, I almost wondered if Ines confessed to killing Leo because she felt guilty. Ines fighting with him for the phone was totally justified. His falling and stroking his head was reminiscent of the mechanic guy that Omar fought. And we have our doubts he was actually dead from that wound. The same could have been the case with Leo and Ines decided to finish him off. It would have been so easy to throw her sister under the bus, but Adrian was the start of all their worst, and Enrique with his affair.

Babachita, I agree about Memo. He really was good last night German wanting out of working for Enrique made meike him more. Unfortunately he has done a bit too many bad things for Pato to forgive him I believe.

Liz,it goes so much faster if I just do highlights. On the 10 p.m. time slot, if I watch it then, I do shorter recaps Those of us watching seem to understand everything pretty well. Our questions seem to involve the mystery more than the action.
 

Mariana fighting him, striking head...those 2 actresses look like they could be sisters irl.

The sister mystery is indeed interesting, Maggie. Those homes belong to the very wealthy.

It seems that Filiz and sister are comfortable financially. Apparently Filiz spends it mostly on her face. Now she has a whole fammily needing help. I wonder what she is so afraid of, needing all this work on her face.

Didn’t Karsu mention the sister as being part of why Karsu left home, taking Reha’s offer.

It was nice to see Devin reunited with Ozan. The children are good actors!

The shootouts make me nervous. I hope we will get Atila’s back story soon.

There’s a lot of mystery in this show, most of it around Ozan. That shoot out was crazy. Were there any good guys?

Karsu seemed happy when Deniz was with his dad. Otherwise, she’s mostly depressed. Reha is horrible. He’s willing to let his kids do without so he can force Karsu to come home. I guess his sister is more likely to help him than to help Karsu. But she can’t reason with him. She should convince him to support his kids.

Feliz must spend all her money on face lifts and stuff. She and her sister were shocked when Karsu mentioned getting a job. This show is holding my interest.

Liz, I agree, this show is holding my attention. Velvet is good also and unfortunately they are on at the same time. Feliz definitely is spending her money on face lifts or Botox. She's only 56, she shouldn't need that much work yet.
 

A.MAR Capítulo 10 Parte 1 Notes from the Couch . . .

The Deal

Estrella is visited by a Gerardo who owns two restaurants in the capital. He would like her to become his fish supplier. It turns out that he was going to make the offer to her father before he died but then hired Fabián as his supplier. The problem is that Fabián missed a shipment so he is replacing him. Nemesio, Estrellas oldest fisherman, is with her when the offer is made. Estrella tells Gerardo she will have to talk to Fabián first. Gerardo needs her decision that very day. Nemesio talks to Teresa, a server at Erika's business, about the offer. He has Gerardo's business card with him that he somehow leaves behind. Nobody notices Erika eavesdropping on the conversation in plain sight. She also picks up the business card. Erika heads straight over to Estrella's house to "congratulatae" Estrella on her great new deal. Of course, Estrella has not told her family about the possible deal yet, so nobody knows what Erika is talking about. Estrella is left to explain the possible deal and why she didn't accept it. She wants to talk to Fabián first. She doesn't want any problems with him. Her sisters and her mother think that they should take the deal and move on ahead. Erika apologizes to Estrella saying she didn't know that her family was unaware of the offer. She also adds that there should be no problem with Fabián because with an account like that she could pay back the debt to the union even quicker. Fabián has also been so very good to her and her family. Gerardo calls again and Estrella turns him down again. She hasn't been able to talk to Fabián. What she doesn't know is that her mother Meche having the business card courtesy of Erika with Gerardos' number, calls Gerardo herself and accepts his offer. Estrella is shocked when she finds out but Meche insists that they have to do whatever they can to get ahead. She still doesn't trust Fabián. At the same time, Erika informs Fabián that she heard that Estrella was negotiating for a big account. She heard she was wheeling dealing cutting her prices and doing all sorts of things to make sure the other person involved didn't end up with it. A furious Fabián pays Estrella a visit and informs her that she took his largest account away from him. He won't let her explain. She betrayed him.

The Trip

Fabián wants to take Jazmín with him to the capital for the day since he has business to attend to. At first, Erika is going to go with them but then agrees to say she can't go because Fabián wants some alone time with his daughter. Fabián and his daughter sit in a café and he talks about taking her downtown in the past when she was a little girl. He always said that her dad was going to take care of her. She remembers that. He says it is the same now. She is in tears but then starts smiling. Poor Fabián thinks the smile is for him. What he doesn't know is that her boyfriend Javier is sitting at a neighboring table. She says she is going to see her grandmother. They agree to meet up in a couple of hours. As soon as Fabián leaves, she and Javier are kissing. She tells him he needs to come visit her.Erika will give him a room at her hotel. He isn't too sure about her trusting Erika so much. Yazmín wishes she were 18.

A.MAR Parte 2

No Exit for Iker

The episode starts out with Gabriel admitting to Fabián that he dind't propose to Brisa. She proposed to him. He explains that she is going through a very rough time in her life. Fabián asks if Brisa will be a good mother for Iker and if Gabriel cares for her or really loves her. Gabriel answers that he is marrying her. Fabián notices that he and Marina are looking at each other as she is working at the restaurant across the way and comments that Gabriel's eyes don't lie.

Brisa surprises Iker at the end of the school day to go out and have some fun. Soon after, things go badly. They start to argue when she tells him that she is going to marry his father and be his mother. Iker takes off.

Gabriel goes home only to find out that Iker is not there. Iker is also not answering his phone which is very odd. When Marina finds out he is missing, Erika allows her to leave work to help look for him. Brisa finds out he is missing and she and Azul join Gabriel and Marina. It takes Azul to prompt Brisa to tell what she knows about the missing Iker and how she picked him up from school. She has to tell them about the argument. Gabriel is not pleased. Marina thinks she knows where Iker is from what he told her from his dreams about his mother. Gabriel goes and finds Iker where Marina said he would be. He doesn't scold Iker but asks him to give being a family with Brisa a chance. He wants to marry her. Also, Brisa will never take the place of his mother. Iker agrees to do his best to support his father. Brisa apologizes to Iker. Later, he and Marina will share hugs and tears on the beach.

Everything else

Perla's counseling is going well. The doctor advises her to get out and live.

Perla asks Oliver what she should do to attract Valentín. Pascual asks Valentín what he should do to attract Perla.

Jarifa, not only do your recaps explain everything exceptionally well, your titles are so fitting and the way you organize the events is fantastic.

Brisa, "...tells him that she is going to marry his father and be his mother". Brisa's immaturity has always been evident; now her insensitivity is as well. Whatever is she thinking?? Oh wait, she's not.

How convenient that every little drama and intrigue involving Fabian occurs in Erika's orbit! 😊. All she has to do is crane her neck and eavesdrop and her next little scheme is born. Have to hand it to her; she's now managed to cause a rift between Fabian and Estrella.

"Poor Fabián thinks the smile is for him". That was really hard to watch. He so desperately wants Jazmin's approval. Javier is already seemingly shady. I thought it was interesting Jazmin mentioned Oliver to him. She is already connecting to Oliver without realizing it.

I am starting to wonder why the wardrobe department dislikes Perla. Her drab T shirts and unflattering denim pedal pushers are beyond unflattering but tonight's denim onsie she wore tonight was just too much!

I read somewhere this week that A.MAR will be finishing up on June 16 in Mexico with a total of 90 episodes. Good to know, i cannot even imagine the shenanigans that await us. : )

Thanks, Diana. I have had to think of different formats in order to recap this every night.

I just got done editing the first part. Somehow my fingers didn't want to type Estrella last night. So now, it is all corrected.

"Brisa's immaturity has always been evident; now her insensitivity is as well." I still do not understand why Gabriel is marrying Brisa. He feels something exciting for Marina and Iker really dislikes her. It is almost as if he feels obligated after dating her all this time. I do not get it. As Fabián put it, "his eyes don't lie".

"How convenient that every little drama and intrigue involving Fabian occurs in Erika's orbit!" It is almost funny at this point, isn't it?

I agree that they have made Perla to have no fashion sense at all and yes! the "denim onsie" was too much. Will she get a remake down the line?

This is turning out to be such a conventional and traditional type of novela and I am enjoying it, too.

 

Karsu #14

Atila trying to sneak back home in his mafia mode and getting mistaken for a thief by Feliz, hiding in Karsu and Deniz closet, being found by Karsu and claiming he was there because he heard the ruckus and was afraid is the most far fetched excuse ever! I can't believe Karsu fell for it. Wonder how he'll finagle getting his gun back. Sure hope none of the kids find it, and if they do 8 hope he removed the ammunition.

You would have thought Karsu would have looked up the price for the aquarium and not brought another disappointment to them.

I laughed at Atila telling his sidekick delivery man to get another copy of the book he loaned Karsu and telling him to read it and give him the crib notes version. Then he and the injured guy, Ceyvet, reading it and Ceyvet being the one to understand it.

Good for Karsu landing a job in a resale shop, but I doubt that will pay many of the bills. Tia and Feliz are being roped into being the babysitters.

I don't quite get Lale's agenda. Is she a lawyer?
 

Juegos #52 part 1

In flashback we see Ines really did kill Leo, with what appears to have been a cross she grabbed off the table. Mariana has passed out on the floor after trying to get the phone from him. Ines came knocking and heard the argument. He answered the door, told her to get her drunk sister out of there, bent to pick her up and Ines whacked him over the back of his head.

Q and Roberto discuss the 2 hypothesis, crime of passion between the sisters, or killed because he infiltrated the rival political camp. Roberto is leaning towards the women based on the evidence the scene.

Enrique asks why did you kill him. You've put the entire run for the president in jeopardy. It's Mariana's fault. She told about Adrian.

Natalia and Luci are working in her room looking for evidence of the fraud. Luci is going to pursue the Ofelia and auditor line.

Enrique and Ines go onto their balcony to talk. He's told her Memo believes his mother killed Leo. They call Berta. What evidence have they found? A lot! Ines thinks they need to call Papa. Enrique is going to take care of it. Her job is to convince Mariana that she did it.

Alexa and Daniel talk. He is worried about Clara. She tells him he is a good man. I hope you can forgive me. For what, breaking up with me? We're back together and I'm the happiest guy in the world. Luci calls. She has set up another appointment with the psychiatrist for tomorrow. Alexa says why. So I can recover my memory. She blows up about him ruining everything, ( oops). She tries to justify it by saying you'll be sad if you remember what happened, best to leave things be. He disagrees.

Natalia tells Luci she admires her for pursuing the truth with Daniel as it will hurt all those she loves. Luci agrees, she especially feels sorry for Pato who is innocent of it all. Luci finds a photo on social media of Ofelia with her father 3 days back. The dad who is supposedly dead.

The dean suspends Mateo.

Francisco tells German his daughter's fingerprints aren't in any register. Not sure if he means both girls. Ah, German is a lawyer... Francisco takes some pills for his blood pressure.

Enrique calls his chauffeur or someone to get Ines tires changed. Adrian arrives home. Roberto and Victoria pull up looking for Ines. Does he know if she was home last night. He doesn't know. Goes looking for dad. Ines isn't there but Enrique will talk to him. He tells Adrian to let him in. Roberto and Victoria feel a bit sorry for Adrian, all of this has happened because of one drunken party he attended. Enrique and Roberto (Victoria is snooping at the house) discuss Ines. She was here in my arms all night he lied.

Adrian is crying looking at the photo of their formerly happy family. He asks when will this nightmare end and throws the frame on the floor. Victoria overhears.
 

Juegos #52 part 2

Ines is working on Mariana. She reaches for her arm to 'comfort' her and Mariana flinches. Did Leo do this, as she sees the bruises. No it was Memo. Mariana doesn't want to go to jail. Ines says actions have consequences. Mariana fires back, like Adrian?

Victoria grabs some hair from Ines hairbrush and prints from a perfume bottle. (Is this legal, do they have a warrant?). As he ushers Roberto out he asks where's your partner. She comes down the stairs claiming she was looking for a bathroom.

Ines talks to Memo as she leaves. Your mother is my sister and I love her. But if she is discovered to have done this your work with Enrique will be terminated. Memo goes up with his mom. She is surprised how nice Mariana was. They both had a relationship with Leo, and it turns out he was working for the opposition and was using us.

Well the prints aren't a match. But wait, Joachin gets fed that same information to pass on to Berta. The lab guy calls Rob, he took the bait.

Karina and Enrique are at odds.

Memo gets turned down for a dinner date with Pato which makes him mad.

Elena is one of my favorite characters of this Telenovela.

How far would Enrique go in preventing Roberto from finding out & exposing the truth ?

The Redhead actress (who portrays Victoria) looks familiar. Where have I've seen her in a previous Telenovela before ?

Steve, Victoria is a new actress to me so I can't help. Alex is just very guilty ridden, I don't see bipolar tendencies.

The girl I don't get is Clara. I didn't add that scene. Why in the world is she going back with Mateo. He isn't even teaching so it won't help her grade. He's an abusive SOB.

I enjoyed the scenes where Atilla jumps the wall and ends up “cowering” in Deniz’s closet. I recall he told someone he separated the magazine and gun. But, it’s still a risky place to leave it. I enjoy Deniz playing with his friend! The child is a good actor. Deniz has several friends now, Ozan, Deniz, Filiz, and he seems to be warming toward his mom.

I agree the fearful lodger tale is a stretch, but it’s funny because of what he really is! The actor does both roles well.

I think Lale has a lawyer friend guiding her. He/she told her previously that the way for Reha to get the kids is if Karsu can’t support them. Hmmmm. I definitely agree he should be contributing to the kids! But, Karsu may be afraid that if she can’t support them, she will lose them. Lale seems nice, but her ultimate goal is to reunite Reha and Karsu or at least have him get the kids. So, I don’t trust her!

Getting a job would be a big first step for Karsu. She is learning how the world works. I agree she ought to have checked about the aquarium fees, but I think Reha controlled all her life, so she has a steep learning curve.

Getting his henchmen to read the book and give a book report all in one day was funny! And, yes, the younger Cevdet understood it better than Hakki or Atilla!

Watcha wanna bet that Reha is going to kidnap Tilsin while she’s out with his sister? Tilsin would like that! I was glad to see her finally getting some hugs even if not from her mother. She looked very happy for a change.

I loved the mafiosi book club. What a hoot! And Atila sure is bossy, telling the guys to quick read the books and summarize them for him. What else does he have to do all day? Lift weights?

So now we know the sister is alive! I can’t wait to hear the backstory on her.

I hope little Deniz doesn’t get hold of that gun. I hadn’t caught that he’d removed the magazine – I’m glad to hear it!

Thinking about the mafiosi book club… Why are they hanging out in the warehouse? You’d think successful mafiosi would have a nice apartment. I’m doubting the place has heat and everybody’s saying it’s cold out. That must be where the shoot-out was. Are they maybe guarding stolen goods?


 

Thanks Jarifa, I enjoyed the recap. Yes, Erica seems to hide in plain sight with her constant eavesdropping. And nobody notices her. I fear she’ll be messing up everyone’s lives, and especially Fabian and Estrella, for a very long time. And she embellishes everything. Now Estrella, who didn’t plan to make the deal, is shown as someone who deliberately undercut Fabian. I wonder if Fabian missed the shipment when he gave Estrella all those fish!

Brisa is not too bright. I can’t believe Gabriel will marry her when he doesn’t seem to love her and she is the only one in the town that doesn’t like his son. I couldn’t believe she was telling Íker about marrying his dad.

Funny that the not so trustworthy boyfriend doesn’t think she should trust Erika.

I thought Perla was dressing the way she does because of the rape. She felt guilty and didn’t want to be attractive to a man.

Thanks Kat, that was excellent. A crime of passion or for Leo’s investigating the political rival? I’d say a little bit of both. But I can’t imagine making your sister think she did it. Inez just lost any sympathy I might have had for her.

Was that a new bruise on Mariana’s arm. I know Memo had bruised her before but I thought that was a while ago. Although on telenovelas they don’t often let you know how much time has passed.

It looks like there are more good guys than bad in the police department. I’m pretty sure Joachim and Berta will end up in jail by the end of the show.

Changing the tires was good thinking as Roberto was studying the tire marks. But I think Enrique should let Francisco handle the coverup. Crime seems pretty new to Enrique.

I didn’t understand the photo. Is it of Ofelia and her father? Surely not Luciana’s dad!

I’m glad Elena and Omar are getting back together. They deserve some happiness.

I enjoyed this episode. That quiet little gated neighborhood and Filiz thinks there’s a robber. But the gun in Deniz’s closet worries me. But I’ve been worried about him and guns since the toy gun with Attila. To think they offered to have the car pick him up so he could change and he thought he could easily sneak in! He is good, pretending to be so scared of a robber and they all believe him.

I wondered why his men were reading the book. All those books and he apparently doesn’t read them! Good to know he’ll be able to discuss the book with Karsu!

Liz, the photo on the social media ( redes is quicker to type, I may adopt it) was taken by Ofelia's daughter bragging on her wonderful mom and grandpa. I guess her post was set to public.

Memo probably was a bit rough with Mom when he was trying to get her to snap out of it. I wonder how Ines managed to get Mariana home as out of it as she was.

I agree, let Francisco deal with the cover up. I was at least glad that he wants to keep Mariana out of jail and he isn't all about perfect Ines.

Thanks, Liz. Great input on Perla. I can see why Fabián would feel that Estrella undercut him. It is too bad Meche didn’t leave that decision in Estrella’s hands since she has been effectively running the business since her dad died and she knew how she felt and why. It is sort of like Meche undercut the authority of her own daughter. Yes, it is pretty bad even when Javier doesn’t trust Erika.

Thanks, Kat, for all the recaps. I finally got caught up this afternoon. How twisted can Francisco and Enrique get considering that Roberto die in the line of duty protecting Enrique from a bogus murder attempt? At least Enrique realizes that he and Francisco have none of the values that he taught to Luciana. A little self-awareness never hurts but will it help this pair? Don’t think so. Looks like Mariana is on her way to the big house with her confession.

Jarifa, thanks for the information on how they plan to kill Roberto. That went right over my head. There is so much information thrown at us each episode it would take 4 comments to get it all. I was complaining about the galan's in the current shows. The actor playing Roberto wins all my awards. Good looking, dialect I can understand, good role. Actually all of the actors in this show I like, or appreciate (it's hard to like the bad guys). The only one I didn't care for was Pato's boyfriend Paul and his was a short lived addition.

Kat, yes, they did a very good job choosing the cast on this show. We seem to be seeing more of Arap Bethke lately which is okay by me. I still think this is the best novela of the evening. You are so right about it being loaded with details.

Very late to the party. I tend to catch up on this one later since I'm already watching TWO on Telemundo. I am really enjoying this one. I sincerely hope Tilsim will stop being such a brat and soon.

Maybe the Turks see things differently. Once I saw Atilla shoot a bunch of people, I kind of ruled him out as a love interest for Karsu. But he's very attractive and Deniz is so fond of him. Who knows?

Incidentally, the Spanish subtitles told me the name of the book Atilla ordered his guys to read and furnish him discussion points on. It was Jose Saramago's Blindness (Ceguera), originally written in Portuguese. I read it in English some years back. Saramago won the Novel prize for Literature.

We don’t know much of Atilla’s back story yet. He seems like someone who had to use guns, but I think he’d much rather not be in that line of work. He is now trying very hard to be what Deniz and Karsu want. (But not hard enough to read the book himself!) I sense this may end tragically because of all of his past violence. I wonder what role his father has in all this.

Babachita, has Atila's father been mentioned or been shown yet? If so, I missed it. Thanks Novelera for adding the name of the book club book. I find myself debating which show to watch between Karsu and Velvet, and sometimes I watch both and skip from one to the other at commercials.

Kat, I seem to recall that Atilla’s father was mentioned when we first saw him change into his mafia duds, but I don't remember it exactly. I got the impression that he had to attack the casino on behalf of his father. But, what that means I have no idea!
