A VERY unpleasant episode with the VULTURES (names in capitals) starting to circle:
SERGIO says he knew that Estrella was with that fisherman. Estrella says she doesn't owe him any explanations and is in love with Fabián. Sergio wonders what Azul thinks about that. Estrella says she will take care of telling her when the time is right. Sergio, as Azul's father, is concerned about what kind of guys his daughter is going to be around. Fabián is insulted by that comment and Estrella says he is a good man who also has a daughter. He is a great father who has helped her move on ahead. Sergio gets the picture and says goodby to the fisherman. He extends his hand and Fabián shakes it.
SERGIO gets the results of the paternity test and Azul is his. Sergio realizes that he still needs to have a happy family and the house with a picket fence in order to gain control from his father. Juanjo tells him everything he found out about Fabián. He has not been convicted of any crimes and seems to be simply an honest fisherman. He then gets to the good part. He became a widower when his wife died in a car accident where he was driving. Then he spent tons of money trying to get custody of his daughter back when he lost it to the girl's grandmother. He finally got custody and the grandmother fell ill. Fabián paid for a private hospital for her and then her funeral. The result is that Fabián is in debt as much as he can be with the bank. He has his own fishing business with another fisherman Gabriel Arenas and is the president of the fishermen's union. SERGIO concludes that if Estrella owes the union one million pesos then effectively she owes it to Fabián. If Fabián is in that bad of a situation financially, he can use it to get rid of him.
Later, SERGIO sees Estrella and Fabián kissing and says to himself: that damn fisherman isn't going to get in the way of his plans.
JAVIER makes it clear that he doesn't want Oliver even talking to HIS novia Yazmín. He attacks Oliver who fights back. Nemesio has to break them up. Yazmín tries to make nice with JAVIER before he leaves to get her pills but he is so angry, he cannot be bothered leaving her high and dry. .
ERIKA reminds Yazmín who no longer seems interested in helping her out that she needs to be doing her job to get her back with Fabián if she wants her not to tell her father that she is an addict. She needs to make life hard for Estrella since she is now starting to go out with her father. ERIKA takes out a packet of pills. Yazmín is desperate for them. ERIKA says Yazmín will have to earn the pills to get them from her but this time she will give them to her so she can relax and think about what her choice will be. ERIKA concludes that Yazmín knows what she has to do if she wants her help.
VICTOR pops on by to remind Gabriel that he has one day left to get the money together. Gabriel says he doesn't know how he can do it. VICTOR cannot imagine how disappointed Iker is going to be in the orphanage wondering how his father couldn't protect him. Gabriel grabs him and slams him against a car. Unfortunately, a second vulture is circling in the area. It's BRISA who tries to stick her beak in the situation. She even follows Gabriel home trying to get any information she can. She ends up finding out that Gabriel has a debt with Víctor. As for the mention of Iker, he lies and says he didn't want Iker to know.
He reminds her that he appreciates her concern and reminds her that they ARE NO LONGER A COUPLE and finally gets her to flap away to her next prey.
BRISA lands next on her home turf where she attacks Estrella for being Fabián's novia and not believing what ERIKA had to say instead. Fabián cannot believe all of the lies ERIKA told about him. BRISA goes ballistic and Fabián leaves. Estrella explains to BRISA that ERIKA told all of those lies to try to keep Fabián. BRISA supports ERIKA. Her situation is is just like her and Gabriel. ERIKA is fighting for what is hers. Estrella has to remind the knucklehead that people are not property. Meche tells BRISA that she supports Estrella and her relationship with Fabián.
Everything else:
Perla tells Valentín how she feels about him and he insists that he sees her as a very good friend, like a little sister. She leaves quickly after hearing that. Valentín tells Oliver that he cannot betray Pascual. (YAWN)
Azul is totally taken with her father and still blaming Fabián for preventing her mother from getting back with her father. Her father was the highlight of the Festival de Huachinango. Estrella is worried that her daughter is going to end up disappointed by her father.
At the festival, Gonzalo hears the band playing and invites Meche to start her dance classes with him. She is self-conscious at first but agrees. Gonzalo "the dance teacher" steps on her foot from the get go but they end up having a good time anyway.
TRIVIA: when vultures are flying tehy are referred to as a "kettle" of vultures.
Jarifa, simply splendid.
Your "vulture" theme was fabulous! Brisa fit that bill perfectly tonight...
Although I couldn't blame him, I was surprised Gabriel was physically threatening Victor publically. While I can't fault Brisa for being alarmed and intervening initially, as usual, she took it too far by inserting herself completely in the discussion. It's a shame Victor didn't keep his threats to himself as Brisa now not only knows Gabriel owes him momey but the seed has been planted that something is amiss with Iker. At least Gabriel finally stiffened his spine as he uttered"...that he appreciates her concern and reminds her that they ARE NO LONGER A COUPLE and finally gets her to flap away to her next prey" (which I loved). 😊
Previously, Brisa's one redeeming quality seemed to be that she supported her sisters. Her treatment of and nasty diatribe to Estrella was totally uncalled for. Obviously, there is no similarity between Brisa and Gabriel's situation and Estrella and Fabian's.
Javier showed himself to be a jealous, irrational, hot headed idiot. When is Yaz going to wake up and dump him??
Time for Perla to set her sights on a man who will show his affection for her privately and publically. Basta!
Sergio is gearing up to strike and I've no doubt it will be quickly.
I always enjoy the Gonzalo and Meche scenes. Rather than apologizing for stepping on her foot, he kept smiling and dancing as though nothing had happened. The pinky "swear" was cute.
Jarifa, thank you so much for explaining things so clearly, some of which was simply above me. This was wonderful.

Wasn’t this an awesome episode???
I was wondering why Attila didn’t just pay his brother’s rent if he’s hiding him. But anyway, here Mert is at Tia Turkan’s and it’s looking like he’s a bit of a smooth moocher. He seems ready to move in permanently. Say, in the first scene did you see there was another cat outside the big window, wanting in? Also - was that an ad for a coffee maker? I didn’t see a brand name, but we sure had long loving scenes of the coffee brewing process.
Wow, Mert’s cat is an XXLL chonk!
I’m worried that Attila has left the burner phone out with its message from the actually no longer among us Orzan. Somebody’s liable to see that message!
Lale really was nosy about the new neighbor – she basically invited herself in. I enjoyed Mert’s comments about his brother and Attila not mad about any of them.
I had come to think that Adnan was an okay guy, a very together guy, but what a complete idiot to arrive at the hospital and say that Irmak was the love of his life and he couldn’t live without her – right in front of Filiz! And then to tell Irmak not to worry because she had her sister and mother with her. Filiz was once wife, now she’s just mother to his big love. He’s oblivious. Poor Filiz!
All those henchmen! Did they go to the wrong place? It was very close to the water. The stairs inside looked the same though.
Oooh, the kiss! Way better than the busy kisses most telenovelas have. Less is more! I loved the audience of ladies in the condo. I loved Reha going nuts.
A thought about Tuesday’s episode: I’m loving how things are so often not what they seem, including the characters. What surprised me in this episode was that I had thought Deniz had a natural innocent instinct for people’s characters. He gravitates towards goodness and recoils from inner meanness. But Reha won him over with a video game and now he’s calling Reha papa, to Reha’s great delight, and giving him the same big hugs he’s given Orzan and the Dark Knight!
Well I'm caught up but I couldn't do the episodes justice as I watched them on my phone with a lot of background noise (home karaoke) so I had to rely on subtitles throughout.
Much as I dislike Reha I do feel that he loves his kids. He is stepping up and chauffeurs them to school in the morning and even though the videogame is a bribe of sorts, he was having as much fun as Deniz playing them. There was pure joy on his face when Deniz called him papa and gave him a hug. Tilsim looked like me about the gaming. I am totally bored by them. I guess she is above playing the babyish games.
Hande is getting Reha's number and his obsession with Karsu. Maybe she'll move out and go back home.
I'm didn't notice the phone, but hopefully it has a lock feature and you can't see missed messages without unlocking it.
Yes that cat is a chunk. Sasha, Pasha, I didn't commit the name to memory? With Merck being in hiding it's good he at least has a companion therapy cat. Türkan's dog is Hercules (or Ulysses) I think.
Are there any shows tonight? I can use a break as I have others to catch up on and if it isn't raining here at my son's I'm weeding and hauling brush in between visits to friends and family. There's a parade this morning also that I like to see each year. It passes within a block of my sister's house. A mile plus from my son's. ( Our old homeplace.)
Diana, this novela is leading me places I have never been: like a vulture theme. LOL Who knows where else I may end up?
Yes, I was surprised, too, when Gabriel grabbed Víctor in public. It looks like Víctor has driven him over the edge and Gabriel is not thinking before acting. That leads me to something I didn’t like from the last episode when Víctor appeared while Gabriel was out for ice cream with Iker and Gabriel asked the ever hovering Brisa to look after Iker as he went to talk to Víctor. He never should have asked her for that favor. In this episode he told her way too much info: he owes money and as you mentioned she knows that there is “ something is amiss with Iker.” He empowered Brisa by sharing anything with her and not rejecting her 100% no matter how rude he needed to be.
At home, Brisa was very unsettling. She showed herself to be a very hateful as well as a mentally unbalanced individual.
I forgot to include last night that Iker wanted Gabriel to plan a camping trip and take Marina along before he changed vehicles. It looked like Gabriel was looking to sell his truck and maybe trade down? That was the feeling I got but nothing was directly said. I hope they have a chance to get away for a few days before anything traumatic happens. That could be a fun!
Gonzalo and Meche are always a breath of fresh air for me, too. Yes, the “pinky swear was cute.”
You already know I agree about Perla.
Jarifa, yes, it did appear Gabriel is thinking about selling his truck! I didn't understand about the camping trip so appreciate your explaining that. Yes, it would be nice to have them get away for a bit before the walls close in!
Yes, Gabriel should have banished Brisa complelely. He's been far too open with her and she is clearly suspicious!
I was surprised how cruel Brisa was to Estrella. "She showed herself to be a very hateful as well as a mentally unbalanced individual" is exactly right.
Can't wait til tonight.
Diana
Maggie, yep, that was a stunner of a two-parter. Normally I get annoyed when either Uni or Telemundo double up, but that was just right for me. And I could have gone for another hour. I thought the very same thing about Mert: he's all set to mooch off Turkan. Unlike telenovelas, dizis don't seem to drag things out for a week while we wonder when Atilla will see his brother.
I WANT that coffee machine! Is it on Amazon?
Lale is starting to get on my nerves. Despite an occasional eye roll, she continually lets Reha slide on his awful behavior. And barging into his apartment to have a look around seemed pretty offensive to me. But the Turks seem to have more tolerance than we do, although they have made a kind of running joke about all the people, mostly Filiz, who keep showing up at Atilla's door.
Kat, I have a more cynical view of Reha's driving the kids to school. To me it's meant to highlight the superior lifestyle his children would have with him than with their mother. Remember how exasperated he got with Tilcim when she actually lived with him and had the bad luck to become ill?
I also thought Deniz would continue to be more discerning than his siblings about Reha. But I guess that's realistic. My son, when he was a boy, would have sold his soul to the devil for a larger array of video games than I could, or wanted to, provide.
Yes, the cat, Pasha, bears a Turkish honorific for its name. It seems to fit him. Not sure why I think the cat is male, but I do. And I can't remember ever seeing one that large.
Hande DID get a good look at the fact that Reha went BSC thinking of Karsu being in a relationship with another man. It was nuts the way he kept referring to her as his wife, the wife he reduced to working two jobs to educate his children. He seemed to have little affection or use for her when she was with him; but let someone else be interested and it's all MINE MINE MINE. I LOVED the kiss.
Genghis, aka Mert, was muttering some things to Reha when he grabbed hold of Atilla. He was muttering the same things I was thinking: You fool, you have no idea of what Atilla could do to you if he weren't intent on staying in his role as timid writer.
I rewatched the last hour as I forgot my dtv has a channel where you can watch prior episodes.
Reha is fun to watch cause he is so borderline psycho. During the kisses I kept thinking of the old junior high thing of "Boyz don't make passes at girls who wear glasses." Only in reverse.
That is an enormous cat. Perhaps water weight.
Oh boy! Fun comments even though it’s a holiday weekend!
Here’s a thought: When Karsu and Attila were walking up to Tia Turkan’s place, just before he spotted his brother, he asked Karsu if that was the trash next to the walkway. She said yes and he threw something in. Hmmm… could it be the burner phone? If so, will someone discover it?
When I’m not loathing Reha I’m really admiring how is part is written and also what a splendid job the actor is doing. I often think about the actors – are they having fun with their parts? In some of the telenovelas I wonder if they’re exasperated by the scripts. I bet the Reha actor is having a blast with his character. What a juicy part!
