I vaguely recall that episode. I will start there. You will be way ahead of me in no time, but that gives me a good place to jump in.

OT KPA
Actually it is episode 17. I deleted the other comment when i checked on my tablet. There are 164 episodes! I guess the 54 I saw was for season 1. (The episode where Elif is set up to make it seem she killed the kidnapper with the gun rigged to the opening door.). So far I understand Fatih. He is what his father turned him into. I figured the police chief was bad early on.

KPA

Kat, there's a difference in the length of original Turkish episodes and the ones we see edited to fit in our hour length programming slots. Most recent Turkish dizis broadcasts are usually over 2hrs per ep. KPA first season ended with ep #13. Second season was 41 eps.

The best is yet to come....

I will watch 17 then. Fatih is an interesting mix of good and bad. Typical to dizis, we often get mixtures. Most aren’t all good or all bad. I love watching him thaw with Nilufer.

Looks like Nilufer may end up with Stockholm Syndrome towards Faith. He is treating her so nicely and is definitely falling for her.

I can't believe Elif is keeping the kidnapping from her mother and sister. I guess Omer's family home is in a safe area, the duffle bag of money that was in the car when Elif took it to the kidnapper that was murdered didn't reappear until she was dropped off at the office.

Omer must have had a lot of savings to just take a leave of absence (or did he actually quit?). Renting the sports car, buying semi fancy suits ..

Not sure how I feel about the older sister. She works in the company but Elif returns for her birthday, dad dies and suddenly she is in charge! Mom may have been the better choice if she also was involved in the company.

I'm up to episode 20. Time to watch the evening shows.

I got caught up with several episodes of this great tale. IIRC, there may be some gaps from when I first watched, so I am looking forward to the whole story. Engin is such a natural. Kat, you mentioned getting used to the difference in his character here from Fatmagul. I watched this first, then Ambassador, and last Fatmagul. So, I had a different sequence of characters to get used to!

I recall thinking of Stockholm Syndrome with Fatih and Nilufer. Fatih is such a sad person, and I came to appreciate this relationship.

The pace of the dialogue seems very fast in some of the episodes. I wonder if that was intentional to add to the stress response to what we see Elif experiencing. I really had to accelerate my listening skills. I guess I’ve become spoiled at having English captions available in many of the stories lately. This KPA is only with Spanish cc’s. I think when it was on netflix, there were English cc’s, too. But, since all of this is supposed to hone Spanish language learning, it’s ok with me!

I got to #23 today, but I didn’t start with #1.

IIRC, Omer was on assignment to infiltrate the Denizer family because the police wanted to solve the murders (and find diamonds). So, perhaps his expenses were covered.

Tayyer gives me the creeps!!!

KPA

Babachita, since the police chief is in cahoots with Tayyer I don't see how he can be on expense. I thought Omer was reprimanded for continuing to pursue leads in the murder so he quit or took a leave of absence. I'm having to hone my Spanish also. Often the dialogue isn't even captioned so I really have to listen then. With the other shows I start with Spanish but then I switch when something is beyond my comprehension and I'm trying to squeeze 3 hours of shows into 2 hours. Otherwise I'd be stopping and looking words up.

I'll try and watch an episode this afternoon. Won't get to any this evening as I spend 1 day overnight at my daughter to save some miles on the car from the 44 mile round trip commute I have and it's my Velvet recap night.

KPA

Kat, That makes sense! I didn’t rewatch the earlier episodes, so I missed a lot. Now I seem to recall that Omer being from the Van unit (other side of country) was helpful as few would know him in the Istanbul police station.
