The Meeting
Erika closes the restaurant for the demonstration organization meeting. Estrella overhears Nemesio telling Oliver that he is thinking of working for Sergio. Oliver says not him. Estrella makes it clear that nobody is being forced to be a part of the demonstration. If they want to work for Sergio that is their choice. She and Fabián get everyone organized to march to and demonstrate outside of the Alpha Sure offices the next day. Fabián reminds them they are fighting against a titan and the fight is only starting.
Gonzalo and Meche have Yazmín make a video of them urging people to come out to the demonstration.
Suffering for Love!!!
Fabián still cannot remember what happened but Estrella refuses his apology. He doesn't know what he is going to do. He s desperate. Estrella tells her mother that she is done with Fabián but is in tears all the time.
Fabián drops off a bag with water and some caps for Estrella and her family the night before the demonstration. Her mother tells Estrella if she thinks that her story with Fabián is over, she knows that there are many more pages left in that story.
Marina Closer Than Ever to Answers
Gabriel and Marina conclude that she and Adriana must have known each other after seeing the photo. Sadly, she cannot remember anything else. Adriana is not answering her phone. Gabriel says after the march the next day, they will track Adriana down and talk to her.
Adriana With One Foot on a Plane to Spain
Adriana goes to see Sergio to inform him she is resigning. She and her husband are moving to Spain. He doesn't want her to accept her resignation with his new company opening. She tells him she will make sure he gets his remaining permits and leave everything well-organized so he can open his company as planned. When that is done, she will be gone.
That very night, Adriana has a disconcerting experience when she is awakened by Nicolás who is awake and wandering around after a nightmare. He does not know she is awake as he remembers Antonia telling him that she was pregnant and how happy he was. He says out loud "Antonia, my love, you do not know how much I miss you and our son. I will never stop loving you."
Yazmín Tries to Control Her Situation
Yazmín is not happy that Oliver got involved with Javier again. He explains that he was only looking out for Gonzalo. Javier was being incredibly obnoxious. She ends up telling Oliver that she loves him and that they need to seriously talk. It is her not him. She hopes he doesn't end up being disappointed in her.
Javier, the jackass, makes fun out of Oliver for not spelling a word correctly on a sign for the demonstration.
Azul is Disillusioned
When Azul finds out what her father is planning on doing with his new fishing company, Azul tells her mother how disappointed she is in him. She though the was concerned about the environment, eco-system. Estrella explains that there are many good things about her father but he does think about some things differently than they do. Azul confronts her father. Not convinced of his supposedly environmentally supportive position, she has made her own poster against his fishing business. Estrella says she can head up the march.
Brisa Breaks With Her Family
Brisa tells her family she has no plans of demonstrating. The time has come for her to look out for only her owjinterests. During the demonstration, she shows up at Sergio's office looking for a job. Sergio smiles. She wants a much better life so she wants to be working with a winner like him. They can hear the demonstration inside of Sergio's office.
The Demonstration
The crowd chants:
Pescadores unidos jamás serán vencidos! United fishermen will never be overcome!
Azul's sign says: La Pesca Artesanal es Tradición.
La Pesca Industrial es Traición.
(Artisanal Fishing is Tradition.)
(Industrial Fishing is Betrayal.)
The crowd is huge and the demonstration is in full swing!
Stupid is as Stupid Does
Valentín is blubbering to Perla about having hurting Pascual and Pascual, being the idiot he is, is blubbering to his mother about being betrayed. Dolores wants him to move back home with her. (Unfortunately), he refuses to do that! He tells Valentín that they can be BBF's again if he breaks up with Perla.Valentín, being the imbecile that he is, actually suggests to Perla that they should take a break so he can mend his relationship with Pascual. If that is not fixed, he cannot be with her. (Uh . . . this doesn't sound healthy in so many different ways on so many different levels!) RUN, Perla, RUN!
I think that was all!
Jarifa, for whatever reason, tonight's episode flew by. Thank you for your always spectacular and informative narrative that highlighted so many important details including the protest signage, so vital to the storyline.
The flashback of Marina presenting Nicolas with the tiny knit baby booties reinforced they were very much in love and that she lives in his heart still. Adriana severely miscalculated how quickly the past might catch up with her. She is tying up loose ends but will she escape undetected? The Magic 8 ball says "don't count on it".
Marina remains in a fog...kind of what I was experiencing as I was completely distracted by Gabriel's inexplicable red and white striped collared seersucker shirt.
"Brisa Breaks With Her Family" was very clever. I had to laugh and shake my head at her declaration that "the time has come for her to look out for only her own interests". Good grief; this selfish, self-centered girl has done nothing but since this began! Juan José looked like he wanted to swallow her whole.
Fabian and Estrella are still heartbroken and sadly no closer to reconciling.
"Stupid is as Stupid Does" and "Valentin is blubbering" were perfect. Perla needs to move on and leave Dumb and even more Dumber behind.
Jarifa, thank you for another excellent recap.
Diana
So much juicy stuff in this episode!
If I calculated correctly, Irmak is going to have to cough up $2,500,000. Did I do that correctly? Good grief!
My favorite bit of the evening: Atila, talking about Hasan and Filiz “He says they’re just friends.” Mert: “He kills his friends.” And then Mert saying he’d like to play cupid because heck, everybody loves him.
Finally Bahar is going to take Tilsin’s problems seriously. She’s talked into taking her for counseling. That girl has been sulking and acting out since the break-up and she’s gotten almost zero attention except reproaches. She does have to adjust to not being a princess, though.
I was surprised we didn’t hear the courtroom dialog, but we found out later Lale will get about $250,000 which she’s satisfied with. She said Atila didn’t bat an eye.
How can Filiz serve appetizers at somebody else’s restaurant opening? That doesn’t seem right. Hasan was funny – he’s too powerful to be thrown off balance but we can tell he’s not used to the kind of interactions that he’s having to deal with outside the mafia don role. Hulya the flower shop lady was really something. No threat to Filiz there. What does it mean when they say a dish is armado?
It’s noticeable that the little commercial area, which seemed to have no foot traffic, suddenly is full of people.
It was interesting to hear Kande trashing on Filiz. Is there really a groundswell against her at the complex? Also, poor Kande, first the kids, then the mother-in-law and now Lale. Talk about a full house! Not what she signed up for, I’m sure.
I caught up with this late last night, so I will be able to comment along with you. FYI, we are currently in the middle of Turkish ep 20 out of 50.
Do I have to like the title character? Sorry, Karsu annoys me.
Karsu should bring Tilsim to an orphanage or a soup kitchen so she can put some things in perspective.
I love Filiz. Demet Akbağ is fantastic. I don’t know if there’s a “groundswell” against Filiz but there were complaints. Maybe these were people loyal to the previous manager.
The actor who plays Reha, Necip Memili, is great at playing characters across the baddie spectrum.
It doesn't seem like they are cutting much of importance so far. So happy Uni keeps the original soundtrack. Minor quibbles with the translations.
Lol’d at Hasan’s reference to Fire of Anatolia (Anadolu Ateşi). It’s a spectacular dance group of over 100 that have performed all over the world.
Dilaver was handing out “kolonya” (cologne) at the grand opening. It’s a cultural thing. Yes, it can be used as a hand sanitizer among other things. If you have the time, look it up.
Maggie, Huyla said Filiz’s appetizer tasted “bitter”, amargo in Spanish, acı in Turkish.
Reha said Atilla paid 5 million. If that’s in TL, it was only 122,776.22 USD. Ha, only. Not enough for Reha. I like that Lale calls her brother out on some of his ish. Neyse… it does no good.
Irmak mentioned 50 million. If that’s TL, it equals 1,227,750.00 USD.
Thanks Jarifa, great recap. Thanks for translating the signs and chants. I had no idea what they were saying.
I say good ridance to Brisa. I was trying to decide what should happen to her at the end of this. Her only crime is being selfish and obnoxous. But now that she’s working for Sergio she will be in big trouble between him and his lawyer’s crimes.
I was happy to see Azul doing some critical thinking concerning her dad. Maybe she’ll work out How he really is without having to over hear anything that would hurt her too much.
Pascual and Valentín are getting tiring. I wish Perla would realize she deserves more!
Liz
Somehow I didn’t realize Lake got money in the divorce. I don’t think she deserved any. I never cared for her that much but now she’s just unlikable. Too much like Reha.
Meet was great tonight, just a fun character.
As many people as were out and about the book store is still usually empty. I’d like to see their business pick up.
Liz
Jarifa: Howdy from the Alamo City. Thanks for your long detailed recap of last night's episode. Brisa has gotten more ANNOYING & irritating ? What's her freaking problem ?
Thanks Diana, yes, it was a fast-moving episode. Oh, no, I missed Gabriel's shirt! Great reference to the Magic 8 ball as the divination tool. " Adriana severely miscalculated how quickly the past might catch up with her. She is tying up loose ends but will she escape undetected? The Magic 8 ball says "don't count on it". I literally can see that little plastic triangle floating inside of the Magic 8 ball ; ) "Good grief; this selfish, self-centered girl has done nothing but since this began!". Exactly. She was unbelievable. Oh, well, Sergio now has his stooge raring to go.
Thanks, Liz. "I was happy to see Azul doing some critical thinking concerning her dad. Maybe she’ll work out How he really is without having to over hear anything that would hurt her too much." I found it interesting that they developed Azul's relationship with her father in the way they did. Her story line was actually interesting and not a throw-away. "Pascual and Valentín are getting tiring. I wish Perla would realize she deserves more!" You can say that over and over again. I guess what I really dislike is that nobody seems to care about what Perla wants or what she is being put through.. If they cared for her more than each other she would be the focus. On her part, how could she want a man who didn't value her above everyone else including his BBF?
Dondi – so wonderful to read your insights about Turkish culture and language. I’m curious – how can you tell that the translations aren’t always accurate? I’m watching Spanish dubbed with Spanish subtitles. Are you watching something other than the broadcast?
I don’t like Karsu in her present incarnation either. It fits the story – she’s mad and has completely had it. I hope she defrosts and returns to her previous self.
I love Filiz too! If I was a guy, I would definitely go for her. She’s so full of life. Tremendous performance. And the Reha actor is terrific too. Heck, kudos to the whole cast!
Thank you for mathing the currency. Oh, and are we really not even halfway through?
Maggie, I’ll check back to the original Turkish when I sense something is off. For example, Cevdet (love him) and Dilaver would never call Atilla “amigo”. They work for him and he’s Hasan’s son. They address him as “abi”. It’s what you call your older brother. But It’s also a respectful way to address a male even if not blood related.
What a treat to have you here, Dondi! I always learn so much from you!
I’m ready to see Fire of Anatolia, now that I know it’s a musical group!
We all love the Filiz actress and also the Reha actor! Really, they are all great. You know the language and culture, so you catch stuff. I did think the use of amigo sounded particularly non-Turkish.
Irmak is in a pickle. No one has that kind of money to give her. Too bad she can’t sue him for fraud, but her signatures make her culpable. I wonder if Filiz has been getting alimony. Will that stop with Adnan’s guilty verdict?
Hulya brings an interesting character to the story! Watching her and Filiz will be fun! I guess that street has lots going on now with a bookstore, cafe, kebab restaurant, and flower shop!
I wonder if Filiz will end up working with Hasan at the restaurant. She got HOA manager job using some underhanded tactics, so she probably has some enemies. Maybe she will pull off getting the generator/s with a little help from Hasan. That would make people happy in the Corner of Paradise.
Is there anything significant with Urfa, other than it’s Hasan’s home town? I often get spices from Burlap & Barrel and noticed today they have Pomegranate Molasses from URFA!
Karsu is cranky, and Atilla is getting frustrated, especially after giving Lale what she asked for.
I was hoping for some peace for K&A, but I’m not seeing the story going that way. I’m very partial to Atilla. And Mert is a joy! I love watching the brothers together!
Lots of time left for this story to develop.
Babachita
Caught up with this one over the weekend. An entire week away from TNs and dizis turned me into a couch potato.
About time Karsu put her foot down about Tilsim. ITA, dondi, about taking her to see some people who are really poor. Tilsim is especially annoying to me with the insistence that her mother go back to her unfaithful husband since she knows all about Hande moving from Ankara to live with him. And I have a sense, not exactly remembering when or if it occurred, that she learned about her father's relationship with Hande having caused the whole breakup.
Yes, Karsu is in an annoying phase. She was, IMHO, delightful until Atilla married Lale. She DID sort of promise him a relationship if he divorced Lale and now she's continuing to punish him.
I haven't liked Lale all along. After the move to Istanbul by Karsu she took her brother's side and kept buying expensive things to feed Tilsim's acquisitiveness. Now she wants Reha to get Karsu back just so Atilla can't be happy with her.
Agree with all of you about how fantastic the Filiz actor is. I don't think she was exactly offering her appetizers at his grand opening. She wasn't inside, just getting lots of attention by being in the area outside it.
I am enjoying the reconciliation between Filiz, Karsu and Irmak. It took as long as it took because Irmak's betrayal with Adnan is pretty unforgivable.
Since you asked, Babachita, Urfa (officially Şanlıurfa) is thought to be the birthplace of Abraham. People make pilgrimages to the Cave of Abraham. If you watched the dizi, Hercai, they had an episode in Urfa where they visited Balıklıgöl (Pool of Abraham). According to legend, Nimrod flung Abraham into the fire, the fire became water and the firewood became the fish.
Urfa food of note in some episodes: Hasan made çiğ köfte for his sıra gecesi. Main ingredient is raw lamb. When Hasan invited the stranded Filiz to his house, he served her şıllık. He was embarrassed because it means “slut”. It was funny when he blurted it out to Filiz. I don't know why they would give that name to a dessert. I think it derives from Kurdish. There are a lot of Kurdish people in Southeast Turkey. Maybe Hasan is Kurdish.
Very interesting about Urfa! I remember the raw lamb. Now we know why Hasan calls Filiz “daughter of Nimrod.” She is also a force to be reckoned with. Definitely a compliment. Funny about sillik! I watched Hercai and vaguely remember the pool of Abraham visit. Our dizis are starting to intersect!
Thank you!

Adriana and Marina
Adriana tells Nicolás that she has turned in her resignation. They can leave in a couple of days when Sergio's company starts its operations. She wants him to go to Mexico City and to start packing but he decides to stay with her instead as she goes about her business. Adriana listens to a voice mail from Marina who wants to talk to her.
Adriana and Nicolás arrive at the Alpha Sur offices and see the protest. NIcolás thinks it would probably be better if they left and avoided the demonstration. Marina sees Adriana and she tries to get out there ASAP and breaks the heel on her shoe in the process. Marina tells Gabriel what happened.
Adriana and Nicolás go back to her lodging in town and she tells Nicolás to grab all of their things. She is done with her work. She wants to leave for Spain ASAP. Nicolás asks what is the sudden rush. He tells her that they are not leaving until she explains what is happening. She makes up a story about how recently she discovered that Sergio was involved in some shady and illegal business and although she was not involved the fact that she was her lawyer could implicate her. The situation is gong to blow up at any time now. That is why she wants to leave Mexico so quickly. He asks if that is the reason she wants to go to Spain. She says one of them but her real reason is to leave the past behind as she told him before. They can start a family. He isn't so eager already having had a family and having lost them. She reminds them that they are alive and deserve a second chance. He agrees that they will go back to Mexico City that very day to prepare their move.
Gabriel and Marina go into Alpha Sur to see if Adriana is there. They are told that she has left. Sergio runs into them and congratulates Gabriel on having regained custody of his son. Gabriel thanks Sergio for everything that he did. Sergio doesn't think that demonstrating against him is a very good way of showing his gratitude. Gabriel sees that as comparing apples and oranges. He sees himself as protecting traditional fishing and their way way of life. Putting fishermen out of business isn't right. Sergio suggests that maybe he shouldn't believe everything that Fabián is telling him about him putting local fishing at risk. Gabriel seems to be ambitious and smart. They should talk. Gabriel asks about talking to Adriana. Sergio tells him that she has resigned and is leaving Mexico.
Adriana shows up at Marina's door. She knows Marina wants to talk to her.
She bluntly tells an overwrought Marina that yes indeed they know each other. What is more Marina ruined her life. She takes out her own mermaid necklace and informs Marina that they are sisters. It turns out they are half-sisters. Adriana's mother died giving birth to her and she was left with her father. All was well but then her father married Marina's mother Paloma and Marina was born. Marina became the apple of her father's eye and she lost him, too. Marina is desperate for any kind of information she can give her since she has her amnesia. Marina knows she was pregnant and had a child. Adriana tells her that she had a son but he died after only living a couple of months. She was going to be a single mother. Adriana suggests she enjoy being a family with Gabriel and his son. She has nothing more to tell her.
More Than One Kind of Demonstration
Fabián tells the crowd that this is not the first time that they have been through this with a company like Alfa Sur. They will not allow anyone to destroy the marine eco-system, traditional fishing or their way of life. Everyone cheers. Valentín enjoys a bottle of Coca Cola.
Brisa comes out of her meeting with Sergio on a mission and tells her sisters that now they are on opposite sides. She is working for Sergio. Nobody can believe what they are hearing as she insists that Sergio's company is a great opportunity for everyone in town. She continues to extol the virtues of Alpha Sur. Everyone yells at Brisa to leave and call out her lies.
Sergio and Juanjo enjoy the Brisa's performance and the spectacle from the security cameras in Sergio's office
Brisa keeps on praising the benefits of working for Alpha Sur. Perla calls her a traitor and throws water on her head. Estrella and Gonzalo hold Brisa and Perla back from getting into a fist fight.
Suddenly, everyone decides that it is time for the demonstration to end. Matilde and some other officers show up. Sergio says that they are demonstrating legally and got government approval. Matilde says that approval does not include aggressive behavior. They received a complaint. She arrests Brisa and Perla. Perla is accused of public disorder, vandalism and attempted violence.
Perla and Brisa continue arguing behind bars. The topic of Perla and Valentín comes up. Matilde overhears them talking about Perla and HER Valentín. She is not pleased. Juanjo pays Brisa's fine. Perla is left behind bars. Matilde says that theft was being added to her charges. She robbed her novio!
Matilde confronts Valentín until he admits that yes he is in love with Perla. Perla stays in jail until her boss the lieutenant, who is a friend of Gonzalo, overrules her and lets Perla go. After seeing how much Perla and Valentín love each other, Matilde finally admits that she has lost the battle for Valentín. She wishes the couple the best and cries.
After the Demonstration
Fabián tells Estrella that he cannot believe how her sister thwarted the demonstration. She sabotaged the march and defended the new company. Fabián says she has to get her to quit. Estrella says she will talk to her. Estrella thinks that Sergio must be taking advantage of the fact that Brisa is naïve.
He brings up that Brisa does no have a good track record considering what she did to Gabriel and she betrayed them. Estrella says that the Gabriel thing has nothing to do with what happened today. Erika blames Estrella for bringing Sergio into town in the first place. Estrella has to remind her how SHE was the one to contact Sergio behind her back about his daughter. Erika reminds her how Sergio paid her debts so she would go back to Mexico City but she never did. Erika continues attacking Estrella. When Estrella is tired of listening to her, she decides that Erika and Fabián deserve each other and leaves.
Sergio is so pleased with Brisa's performance that he gives her an advance on her pay. She is impressed with the amount and is ready to do more!!!
Yazmín and Oliver
Sergio calls Yazmín and after talking to him, she is a nervous wreck. Oliver knocks at the door just when she is going to take a pill. He is there to talk to her as she said she wanted to do. He asks what is going on since he sees how upset she is. She finally tells him the truth about being on drugs(benzos and amphetamines) and sometimes having sex with Javier to pay for them. Oliver doesn't think less of her and loves her even more. She needs to quit the drugs for herself and not for him just as she told him he needs to get an education for himself and not for her. She throws her pills away. They hug.
Jarifa, your outstanding recap highlighted and revealed much that I hadn't understood. Your translation is unfailingly superb.
Adriana is (again) surprisingly obtuse allowing Nicolas to accompany her to work. Surely someone so adept at lying could have come up with some sort of excuse. It was only luck that she spied Marina first. The look of pure pain on Marina's face as Adriana told her they were half sisters, that she hated her and above all, the odious lie that her son died was hard to watch.
I kept wondering if Marina would have recognized Nicolas had she seen them first! As we still have many episodes to go, I suppose Adriana will now be able to pack her inexplicable wardrobe of vests, t-shirts and skorts and whisk Nicolas off to Spain before he is all the wiser...
Brisa has been grasping and self serving but I admit I was surprised see her jump ship (so to speak), championing Sergio and "...extol(ing) the virtues of Alpha Sur". The look Meche gave her when Brisa was outside spewing her lies would have seared a steer on a spit. Fabian is clearly disgusted with her. Perla showed strength and courage by standing up to her sister. It doesn't seem to bother Brisa in the least that she caused her estrangement from her family and that she is alone and has no one. Clearly, the most hated woman in town.
"Matilde says that theft was being added to her charges. She robbed her novio!" had me smiling away. Perla should have let her "keep" him.
Oliver, true to himself and his character, supports Yaz unconditionally and without question.
Jarifa, this was another home run, you hit it way out of the park. Thank you so much.
Diana
I just love the writing in this show! The exchange between Hasan and Lale was wonderful. Hasan said he thought she was a real girlfriend (and doesn’t mention that he knew about Atila’s interest in Karsu, she of the 3 kids) which Lale seemed to buy. He also perceived that Lale had a genuine interest in Atila. She talked about her hurt pride – fair enough. She seemed quite happy with the promise of lifelong protection. (I do wonder what you need protection from in Istanbul. Is it that dangerous?) Of course, the reason that Atila and Lale agreed to the wedding was that both were afraid of him. Why is Atila not afraid now?
If Filiz sells her two condos, where will they live? And I wonder why she didn’t accept Atila’s offer to buy his place. I’m sure he’s sent Cedvet off to buy both and betcha he tells the ladies they can stay. He asks Cedvet to look into Irmak’s debt too. Anyway, if they did move out, Lale’s campaign to get rid of Filiz as manager would be moot. And why is Lale going after Filiz?
The dinner was fun – we can see Karsu is caving a bit, plus at the end she and Irmak dished over how handsome Atila is.
There goes Kande! We sure can’t blame her. Reha ducking the marriage question, saying in time, but that time is relative. What a weasel. And he doesn’t want more kids! I wondered how many bathrooms that condo has. One less person would be helpful. There are a lot of people there! I loved Kande telling Karsu about how she fell in love and Karsu reminding her of her betraying her supposed best friend.
I maybe be wrong, but does Mert have some medical problem? It seems like when he was beat up before and tonite he fell off the stage, but it really wasn't a big drop. He's a pretty young
Guy. About Karsu, l think it would be really hard for her to ever find a decent guy. The two oldest kids need serious therapy & Reha is never going to stay out of her life. I mean he moved
Cities & then into the same condo place.
Didn't Hassan threaten to hurt Karsu? I think that is why Atila married.
I don't get why Hasan likes Lale so much. What happened to her day job? Did she decide to become a lady of leisure when she married a monster? Honestly HOA presidents don't need to work full time, as we see Filiz only spends a few hours a day there. Omer does most of the work. That pool turned green quick. All the other scenes had it nice and blue. Shock it and hire a pool guy. Omer comes to mind. I'm surprised a grounds crew isn't on contract.
I've been really sick since Sunday but I did catch up with this yesterday and last night, not lucid enough to comment though. I'm still a bit fuzzy brained so I'll limit my comment.
BTW, who is anonymous that is posting? Can you sign off with a nickname or something, then we can answer questions if you have them. There may be multiple anonymous members! Yes Hasan did threaten harm to Karsu and her kids. Maybe after Hasan didn't kill Merk when he found out he was alive, Atilla decided his bark was worse than his bite and decided to call his bluff.
Thanks Jarifa, another excellent recap. I was pleased that Oliver was so understanding when Yazmín told him the truth. Maybe together they can come up with a way to stop Javier.
Brisa did not really surprise me. She’s always been more about herself. She’s been nice to her sisters and mom in the past. I wonder if she will continue to live with them, which would be awkward. It was awful that she had no remorse when she left Perla in the jail cell. Maybe she’ll be Sergio’s next conquest.
I couldn’t believe Erika blamed Estrella for Sergio being there. I’m glad Estrella stood up for herself.
All I can think of with Adriana is at least she didn’t try to kill Marina this time.
Matilde took losing Valentin much better than I thought she would. So Perla and Valentin should have a clear path ahead but I have my doubts!
Liz
I loved the scenes with Irmak, Filiz and Karsu, and then the two sisters. It took a while but they seem to have a good relationship now. I wonder if they had a good relationship before Irmak ran off with her stepfather. And I’m sure Adnan seduced her!
Lale makes no sense. I thought she had a really good job but now she wants to take Filiz’s job from her. I wonder if Hasan will still be charmed by Lale. And I’m sure he knew she and Atilla weren’t serious. He was upset his son was interested in a divorced woman with 3 kids.
Reja was awful when they were meeting with the school counselor. I think the woman probably figured he was the problem. And is Hande gone for good. Somehow I doubt it.
Liz
It was a veiled threat that Hasan made about Karsu. He only showed Atilla pictures of her and the kids. Atilla assumed the worst. In conversation later to Dilaver he said we don’t kill women. That’s a statement I’ve heard many times in Mafia dizis. But it’s not always so.
I also thought the Hasan – Lale convo was a highlight. He didn’t let her off the hook for her part in the deception, but he told her he considers her his daughter now and offered his protection. I took it to mean as a parent looking after his child. If she has a problem, she can come to him. She was surprised and touched by this.
There was a resident who complained to Filiz about the pool in an earlier episode. Filiz replied it was still too cold for swimming and she’d take care of it when the time came. It seems time is running out for Filiz. She might have to turn to Atilla and/or Hasan. Yes, Atilla already has Cevdet on the case.
I’m glad Hande left, and Karsu told her well. But she’ll probably be back for purposes of the story. Hard to believe she’s so in love with someone as disgusting as Reha.
Glad you’re feeling better, Kat. We miss hearing from you.
Diana, thanks. Glad the recap was helpful. I so enjoyed these descriptiona: "The look Meche gave her when Brisa was outside spewing her lies would have seared a steer on a spit." and ' "Matilde says that theft was being added to her charges. She robbed her novio!" had me smiling away. Perla should have let her "keep" him." Brisa has truly become THE persona non grata in town and for good reason. As for Adriana, her hatred for Marina was palpable. Guess her wanting to kill Marina and marry her husband was her sick interpretation of pay-back. I wonder what NIcolas' reaction will be when everything comes to light as I am expecting it to before the end of the novela.
Liz, thanks. "I couldn’t believe Erika blamed Estrella for Sergio being there. I’m glad Estrella stood up for herself." That was so very stupid because Estrella informed her earlier in the novela that she was the source of all of her problems when she brought Sergio back into her life via Azul. I was glad that Estrella didn't let her get away with it. "Matilde took losing Valentin much better than I thought she would. So Perla and Valentin should have a clear path ahead but I have my doubts!" Me, too. I cannot see Matilde any longer being the problem but I still see Valentín too stuck on his BFF. That is why is I am still saying : RUN, PERLA, RUN!!! : )
I don't understand how Lale & Reha have any power at all. Reha is the worst business man evah. The guy has actually produced nothing. He has hired local thugs numerous times to beat someone up. Lale is so annoying, she knew Atila married her under duress. From watching a few ditzis over the years, Mafia families get passports and get the whole family out to somewhere else.

Kat – so sorry to hear you’ve been sick! It must’ve been a bad bout if you weren’t able to even watch some telenovelas you’re following. Very glad to have you back!
I agree that HOA administrators don’t have that many hours of work. Also, they don’t usually have offices. Maybe that complex is way bigger than we see. I doubt it though. Also yes, the groundsman should be the one in charge of keeping things clean. We haven’t seen him lately.
I wonder if Lale is angling for the job, or just wants to take Filiz down a peg.
Liz – I agree. I think that school counselor saw through Reha. In fact, everybody seems to except Kande. I think she finally is giving up on her fantasy future with him.
Dondi – Yes!! Why she would fall in love with a man like that in the first place is a mystery to me.
Welcome nare23. Now we aren't in the dark wondering if someone was logged out by blogger (happens to dondi quite often) or if it is a new commenter.
Isn't Reha's assets frozen because of the investigation into Adnan's tax evasion? I don't see how a multimillionaire can't pay the penalties and just get a slap on the wrist. Impounding all his assets seems overkill. It does appear Irmak could sell his house, though his lawyer may have something to say about that. Adnan must have some Swiss bank accounts somewhere.
Brisa Feels She Gets NO Respect and Moves Out
Perla has had it with Brisa. Meche doesn't understand where she went wrong with her family. Gonzalo offers her his support in good times and bad.
Brisa's family confronts her about going to work for Fabián. As for her getting bailed out and not Perla, she says it was Juanjo who showed up. He is one of her new friends and now since she is running with winners, they better get used to her being with people from a better class. Estrella warns her about Sergio. He is using her. Brisa accuses her of being bitter. They talk to Brisa about the importance of being a united front with the family and town to save the fishing business that supports the town. Brisa doesn't care. Brisa is tired of following directions from from her mother and especially Estrella. She sees her as the one causing all of the problems. As Brisa gets nastier and nastier, Meche tells her she will not be disrespectful in her house. Brisa explodes. She will have nobody telling her what she can and cannot do.
Later, Brisa appears with her suitcase and announces she is moving out. Nobody can talk her out of it. She has a real job and will take care of herself.
Azul blames her father for spoiling her family.
The Unexpected Roomie
Dolores is going back to her town and (unfortunately) Pascual is not going with her. She blesses a tearful (again) Pascual and reminds him not to forgive Perla or Valentín and not to fall into temptation. Pascual says no worries. He is remaking his life with new friends. After he leaves, he puts up a sign for a roommate and Brisa answers the call. She cares not that they have to share a room with two twin beds even though he seems to. She bulldozes her way in. She pays him for a month in cash. She needs a place to stay until she can move to Mexico City. She informs him in no uncertain terms that she is living there. Period. Does he get it??? Pascual looks confused (as he always does).
Fabián is Frustrated
Fabián tells his father that he is having a hard time talking to anyone to put a stop to the last two permits Sergio needs. They refuse to see him. Fabián also finds it interesting that the protest was not covered by the news. He thinks Sergio paid somebody off. (in an earlier episode, Sergio mentions to Juanjo that he paid Porfirio to make sure the protest was not covered.)That will not stop the protesters.
Azul Does Research
Azul decides she needs to find out more about Industrial fishing and the actual damage it can do. Her father calls but she decides she doesn't care to talk to him because of him lying and because of what happened with Brisa. Estrella explains that she and her father have different priorities in life. Azul now realizes how Fabián had been right all along. She also thought her life would be perfect when she found her father but things just imploded. Estrella says these kinds of situations happen a lot in life but you learn a lot from them. You just get up and go on. Estrella is there to get up with her.
Adriana and Nicolás Pack Up
As he is packing, Nicolás finds a bracelet with Antonia's initials on it. He never got to give it to her. He tells Adriana about it. Antonia acknowledges that she knows that Antonia was the love of his life. She realizes she can never be Antonia and fill that empty space in his heart but with this change, she feels that they can start from zero in creating their own family. She will never ask him to forget Antonia or his son. She loves him as he is. They can create their own memories. He throws the bracelet away and hugs her.
Marina Reacts
Marina tells Gabriel that she does not believe Adriana. She knows that her son is still alive. Marina cannot believe that Adriana is sister being so cold and hateful as she was. She also tells Gabriel that Marina never told her who the father of her child was only that she was going to be a single mother. She told her there was no other family out there. Gabriel reminds her that she is not alone because she has him and Iker. She can be whoever she wants and he will still love her. Marina wants to be with them. They kiss. She adds that no matter what she wants, she has to accept that her son is dead. She needs to live the present with him and Iker. They kiss again.
Yazmín Takes Oliver's Advice
Oliver thinks that Yazmín should do her best to avoid Javier. She agrees. He suggests that she move back home with her family to avoid any problems with him. Maybe she should tell her father about everything. She refuses to do that and makes him promise to never say anything to her father or grandfather. He agrees. He adds that with the fishing mess, he probably needs her as muchas she needs him. She ends up moving home where she is enthusiastically welcomed by her father and grandfather. It seems like her sullen attitude towards her father has returned with her and is just under the surface. When Fabián asks if she is with Oliver, she doesn't answer him but tells him that it was Oliver who talked her into coming back home.
Erika Plays Both Sides
Fabián thanks Erika for allowing Yazmín to stay at her inn. She says that he owes her nothing. He apologizes for what she told him happened between them.He evidently was drunk but that was no excuse. She doesn't consider it any big deal. It was great! She still loves him and if they got together it was because that little flame hasn't fizzled out. Maybe if they tried again, it would reignite! Fabián is visibly uncomfortable.
NOT at the inn, Sergio thanks Erika for letting him know about the protest march. She asks why he had to see her in person. He has a check for her. She will not accept it. She is not working for him. She works for herself. He will not be her boss. They are fighting for the same thing and helping him works for her. They discuss how to break up Estrella and Fabián permanently. Sergio says that they are both so vested in their cause that if one of them were to change sides the other would NEVER forgive them. Maybe Sergio can convince Estrella to work for him. Erika has her doubts since it would be sort of like giving a pill to a cat.
An angry Estrella shows up at Sergio's to find out about him giving her sister a job and finds Erika. Sergio lies and says that Erika came for the same reason as she did to complain about his company. Estrella sees the two wine glasses and doesn't believe him. Sergio explains that one of the glasses was Juanjo's and not Erika's. Erika puts on a good act complaining about his company and how his dirty dealings will affect her business. She will not just stand by! Everyone will fight against him. Erika goes and Estrella wonders how Erika got his address. He says it is a small town. Maybe Brisa told her.
Estrella ask him if he realizes the damage he is inflicting on her family using Brisa. She knows him and he will do anything to get what he wants. She tells him she doesn''t want Brisa working on the project. He says that isn't so easy. Brisa signed a contract. Estrella knows that he can do what he wants at his company. He suggests that her sister might have a better future than being involved in traditional fishing. She disagrees. Sergio insists that Brisa will have the chance to develop in the company have a better life. Estrella isn't buying it. She can see him destroying everything in his path to get what he wants. She won't allow it. He only wants the best for her and her family who is his daughter's family. He wants Estrella by his side so they can do it together. He gives her until next week to accept a job offer. She tells him not to hold his breath and leaves.
Meche's Request
Meche asks Gabriel to talk to Brisa and try to get her move back home because he is the only person she will listen to. She thinks he owes her daughter after all she did for him. What kind of a man is he? Gabriel finally gives in but cannot promise he can change Brisa's mind. He goes to see Brisa at Pascual's. She is refusing to move back home. She is an independent woman now.
Jarifa, your recap was simply marvelous. Your spot on descriptives in relating tonight's conversations and events was masterful.
So many great lines but I loved "Dolores is going back to her town and (unfortunately) Pascual is not going with her". Exactly!!
In addtion to a painful past, Estrella has a sixth sense about Sergio that has served her well. Understanding he is a liar, she wisely doubts everything he says and trusts him not an iota. Yet she continues to get taken in time and again by Erika.
I had the same reaction as Sergio when Erika refused his money - shock! Well I guess every malicious manipulator has her standards.
Brisa is breaking Meche's heart. One daughter leaves (good riddance) and the prodigal daughter Yaz returns. However, not all is right as rain. As you insightfully noted, "it seems like her sullen attitude towards her father has returned with her and is just under the surface". She refuses to completely give up her irrational anger and resentment toward Fabian. More's the pity.
Sergio "...suggests that her sister might have a better future than being involved in traditional fishing" is true enough. While Brisa has NO future in fishing as she loathes and disdains it, getting embroiled with Sergio and his lies and empty promises is even less promising.
Despite Brisa being a royal beyotch, I had to smile when she showed up at Pascual's! Judging by how quickly she settled in, Pascual companionably helping her with her nails, I sense this Oscar/Felix duo are going to get along famously. Another interesting twist by the writers...
Marina "...also tells Gabriel that Adriana never told her who the father of her child was only that she was going to be a single mother". And therein lies the intrigue. Will Adriana and Nicolas scurry away to Spain or will the truth or some thread of it be revealed?? I can't wait.
Jarifa, what a wonderful read; thank you for posting so quickly.
Diana
