I'm very disappointed in this grand finale... everything seems so rushed and no stories feel complete. There is a few minutes left so it may improve but still ...

Well that explains it, I guess it was the end of the season not the show. Now for some observations. Lale asks Kivanc to act as her novio in a dinner date that Reha has set up with the cotton mogul. Meanwhile Kivanc and Irmak are also having a date to talk about Karsu's arranged marriage, so Kivanc arranged for that dinner date to be at the same restaurant. What could possibly go wrong? Cotton king sees him eating with Irmak, goes upstairs where he has been eating with Reha and Lale to tell her her bf is two timing her. They all traipse downstairs where Kivanc and Irmak are eating and insults are flung resulting in Reha attacking cotton king. So there goes Reha's business, hopefully.

Hande complains to Reha that she didn't sign up for this motherhood gig. Hire a babysitter or give them back to their mother

Jan (or Can, not sure the guys name) meats Karsu and the wedding is on. Strings are pulled and it's set up for the next day. We get to see the wedding.
Kavinc banters with Irmak that they will be married themselves one day

The cops waylay Filiz. They want her to spy on Hasan and find proof of his dirty doings in exchange for Irmak's debts being forgiven. She goes home and is confused about what to do. Hasan comes to see her. He has a lovely emerald ring surrounded by diamonds that was his mother's. He asks her to marry him. No answer is given when it segues into the final scene with Karsu

Meanwhile Karsu is trying to meet Boris, the guy who heads the firm Hasan has arranged for her to get a job with. She waits 45 minutes for the meeting and it gets cancelled as Boris took a helicopter to put out some business fire.

Final scene...After her wedding the next day Karsu goes back for the rescheduled meeting. A bunch of people come out of Boris office pretty lucid at him. Karsu decides this guy isn't worth working for and tells the receptionist she's leaving. At the elevator a hand reaches out to stop her. Could it be Atilla?

Lucid in the last paragraph should be livid. Also, Karsu is back to dark hair. Filiz told her she should change it before the wedding and Karsu tells her she had already made a hair appointment.
 

A.MAR #76 (original #78) Parte 1 Notes from the Couch . . . The More Things Change . . .
Estrella
Estrella asks Fabián if he "loves" her so much, then why is he back with Erika. He stars to squirm asking what Erika told her. She makes it clear that she didn't hear anything from Erika but she knows it is true. He scrambles and says he heard she and Sergio were getting married so he decided to go back and try things with Erika again. He now sees it was a very bad decision. She wishes he hadn't done it but she is not about to get between them. If they are going to work together, it is important that they are clear about everything.

BTW, Estrella drinks Sprite.

Estrella chagnes her mind and has decided to take Sergio up on his deal. She agrees to go back with him and to help him fight against his father to close down his fishing company. She is open to forming a family with him and Azul. Sergio smiles. Estrella appreciates all of the sacrifices Sergio is making for her and Azul. He kisses her. He only cares that the three of them are together. His phone rings. He argues strongly with his father about closing the company down. What Estrella doesn't know is that it is not Leonardo but is Juanjo is on the other end laughing at Sergio's performance. After he hangs up, she tries to support him as he complains about his father. He makes it clear that from now on, she is his priority. Estrella's phone rings, it is Fabián. She lets it go to voice mail.

Fabián asks Meche if Sergio is blackmailing Estrella. She makes it clear that Estrella has every right to re-make her family. She cannot believe that he has the nerve to be against that. He asks her to say what she really means and she does. She reminds him that he went back with Erika, Estrella's half-sister. He starts to explain but Meche will not hear it. Caught again, he is visibly uncomfortable with no way to escape what is coming. Meche informs him that she herself saw him leaving the inn with Erika looking like she was really in love. Fabián says that all he cares about is Estrella sacrificing herself in exchange for closing the fishing company. Meche makes it clear that Estrella doesn't need Estrella to convince her of anything. Meche asks Fabián to leave and to stop causing Estrella problems. Fabián has gotten the message and leaves.

Later, Sergio visits Fabián to give him the good news. He is closing down his fishing company. It is not official yet but he wants him to be the first to know.
Fabián cannot believe that he would force a woman to be with him in exchange for closing the factory. Sergio argues he has not forced anyone to be with him. He tells Fabián to have a great day, stay away from Estrella, and celebrate like he is going to.


 

A.MAR Parte 2

Meche asks Estrella if she is doing the right thing. Estrella says she is. Azul will be happy living with her father. Perla doesn't understand how all of this happened so quickly. Estrella says that Sergio has changed a lot. Perla thinks not: people do not change. Having overheard that, Sergio enters and Perla congratulates him on having played his cards really well. Estrella now adores him. She warns him that if he hurts her sister, he will be a sorry case when she is done with him. She leaves. Meche apologizes for her.

Estrella goes to talk to Sergio. He asks if she is going back to Sergio to save the town. She says it isn't just that but Sergio is Azul's father. Estrella is looking for some peace right now and Azul loves the idea. He asks if she is trying to convince him that she is doing the right thing or if sh eis trying to convince herself. He knows she is not in love with Sergio. She asks a question he doesn't want to answer and will make him squirm once again Did he decide to give Erika another chance because he is in love with her??? He doesn't answer (again) but comments that they have BOTH made mistakes. Fabián says he loves her and knows that she loves him. She believes she is doing the best thing for everyone concerned. She abruptly turns and leaves.

Perla
After one night at the hotel, Valentín and Perla move into Meche's house where they will live until they can afford a place of their own. That night Perla pretends to be asleep as Valentín is disappointed that this will not be their wedding night. Perla wonders how she can explain to her husband that she is not ready to have sex with him yet.

Later, Valentín tells Pascual that marriage is great but not so easy. He and Perla haven't been able to be "together" since they were both exhausted the night of her wedding and now they are living at his mother-in-law's house. Pascual is confident that they will find a moment for themselves. Valentín feels like Perla is holding something back.

Brisa
Brisa doesn't miss a beat when she sees Gabriel, looking very depressed, at the restaurant. She decides to join him. He admits that things are not going well since Marina went back with Nicolás. He sees the look on her face and knows what is coming. She asks him to let her talk. Even though their relationship ended a while back, she still has feelings for him. She wants to know if there is a chance they could revive their relationship. He tells her he doesn't want to think of the future. He want to take his trip and disconnected. She keeps pressuring him asking him if there might be a place for her with him and Iker when he comes back. He says he has no crystal ball. Anything is possible. Things can change. Anything can happen. She doesn't know that Pascual has seen them.
 

A.MAR Parte 3

Brisa takes that less than luke warm allusion to a hazy future, and suddenly is questioning her relationship with Pascual. Who should she choose???

It has taken Pascual no time to put two to two together so when Brisa comes home, he asks he why she doesn't want Gabriel to know about their relationship. She is caught like a rat in a corner but he won't let her escape. He saw her making eyes at Gabriel at the restaurant. She tries to explain that Gabriel always has been the love of her life but he (Pascual) is driving her crazy. Gabriel, her prince, and she have history but she also loves her "puppy" Pascual so much. Pascual informs her that is not enough. She explains that the problem started when she found out that Marina had left Gabriel. She apologizes. With tears in his eyes, Pascual tells her she needs to choose between the prince or the puppy.

Brisa has to tell Erika what happened with Gabriel and Pascual. The problem is that she still cannot make up her mind. Also, Sergio told her that he can get her a job at one of his other companies.

Marina
Marina meets with Adriana who wants her to sign a document giving up any rights she has as heir to to her mother's estate in exchange for her son. Marina says she will not sign without a proof of life of her son. Adriana, clearly in control, announces that their conversation is over. Marina tells her that she has been a liar from day one, so how is she supposed to trust her??? Adriana informs her that if she wants to be reunited with her son, she is her only choice.
Marina gives in and signs the document only to find that Adriana has a couple of additional requirements before she will lead her to her son. Marina will have to promise to take her son and move far away. Nicolás can never know that she found him. When Marina has quit her job and is ready to leave, Adriana will contact her to let her know where her son is.

Well, I have been working on this as I have been watching my Chicago Bears in the first game of the season. Win or lose, what a game!

I have to mention: Kudos to David Zepeda who has hit the tone so accurately as Fabián as he is confronted time and time again about his sleeping with Erika while supposedly being in love with Estrella. He knows he did wrong. You can see it in his eyes. Love it!

Jarifa, I had a hard time understanding much of the dialogue but your superb, richly detailed recap cleared up much for me. Just excellent.

My heart sank as Adriana lied and manipulated a desperate Marina who of course would sell her soul to be reunited with her son. I fervently hope she talks with Gabriel and that the idea that Adriana might have tampered with the DNA results occurs to them.

Loved "Brisa takes that less than luke warm allusion to a hazy future, and suddenly is questioning her relationship with Pascual". I felt badly for Pascual realizing that his rebound love's sister, Brisa, also loves another. Perpetually second choice.

While Gabriel deserves high marks for his respect for Marina's decision, his failure to finally reject Brisa once and for all is confounding and disappointing. "She keeps pressuring him asking him if there might be a place for her with him and Iker when he comes back. He says he has no crystal ball. Anything is possible. Things can change. Anything can happen". Dude, really??? Brisa cannot and should not be given even the slightest bit of encouragement. While she is to be faulted for her relentless pursuit, Gabriel is guilty for not telling her no, (per Taylor Swift) they are never, ever ever getting back together. Why make her think there is a glimmer of hope??

I felt terrible for Valentin realizing Perla was avoiding him. Little room to move away in that tiny twin bed. I hope she tells him the truth - and soon.

Fabian and Estrella. Where to start?? Estrella can't even bear to kiss Sergio and now she is going to marry him?? Pleaze! Her reasons are unfathomable to me; I do understand part of the reason is because Azul wants to be near her father. So let him visit more often (not that he would want to of course). I can understand her reluctance to go back to Fabian as he can't/won't stay away from Erika, but don't ruin your life entirely by marrying someone you can't stand. You can't fix stupid.

Jarifa, you gave such life and vibrancy to all of tonight's events. Thank you so much! Can't wait til tomorrow!!

Wow, Kat, thank you so much for recapping for us!!

Where are we? I tried to find out about the seasons and the episode counts online but got conflicting information. This was episode 84, but somewhere I read there were 74 episodes. I don’t know if that referred to season 1 and season 2 combined. Did we just finish season 1, or were there two seasons mooshed together?

Anyway I’m sort of dreading what comes next. Who will stay and who will leave? I’m so hoping Tia Turkan is still in the cast. We need Reha of course. What if Deniz grows up too much? Some time ago I saw Atila’s photo in a cast listing for season 2, but the cast list I found last night didn’t have him. Jan seems like a pleasant guy, and he’s pleasant looking, but he sure doesn’t have the impact Atila did. The man who put his hand on Karsu’s shoulder at the very end said he was Bora. It seems unlikely Atila would be hiding in plain sight in Istanbul.

I was glad Karsu showed up for the job interview the second time looking really good. Her first try she was in jeans and had some hair up in a messy bun. Hardly job interview dress-for-success apparel!

That was a beautiful ring! I wonder how long we have to wait for the next season to find out what Filiz is going to do. I hope I remember all the characters’ names – and all the plot lines!

I knew there was going to be another season, but they certainly did leave the family we've grown so fond of in some precarious positions.

Reha was furious that Kivanc and Lale tried to put a spoke in the wheel of his big plan to marry his sister off to a guy who'd dole out money to him for whatever the heck his business is. But the Cotton King pushed Reha's buttons insinuating that Reha and Lale were somehow OK with Kivanc having two girlfriends.

There were some very subtle and interesting conversations in this one. I enjoyed Karsu talking with her mother about the ups and downs they've had in the last year.

I also was happy to see Hande take the initiative with Reha. I haven't been very happy with her since she married Reha because she's zipped her lip about really resenting the forced childcare and is taking it out on the kids. But she set her boundaries. The jerk married her to spite Karsu, and this only happened because Karsu was honest and told him Deniz had been kidnapped. He would never have gotten custody otherwise. So Hande put it to him straight: give the kids back to their mother or pay for a nanny. The cheapskate was, of course, outraged at this idea.

What the hell? Turkish cops have a big enough slush fund to pay off that debt Filiz and her daughters have? I seem to remember it being $30 million Turkish Lira, which is $726,000 U.S. Filiz sold the two condos, but it seemed to me they still owed.

I enjoyed Filiz and Hassan's conversation on the boat and his telling her that the thing he most admired about her was what a good mother she is.

I'm disappointed that, even though the marriage took place, we didn't get to see Reha foam at the mouth when he sees how handsome Can is. [He'd be even cuter without the stubble.]

This episode, ending the season, was busy tying up some loose ends while leaving others. I was happy that Lale let Karsu be with Deniz. Lale is very annoying, but I think her heart is in the right place most of the time.

Hande is sticking up for herself, which I applaud, but she’s cruel to the kids, which removes any good feelings I might have. Those kids are a handful. We have gotten to know them so well, but they would be tough for someone who hasn't raised kids.

Karsu seems to be getting her act together. She is setting up things the court will want: a good job, a stable relationship (well, this is not a real thing), but she is setting about stabilizing her life. She looked awful for the (non) interview, but spruced up for the second one.

Won’t Can need to be around some for this subterfuge to work? The kids would need to know the name of their stepfather, wouldn't they? Does Karsu change her last name?

Remembering the bad state she was in for the three years Deniz was lost, she has come a long way. She isn’t reacting so much as taking action. She isn’t curled up in a ball. She is able to laugh at times! She and Filiz and Irmak are mutually supportive, along with Turkan most of the time. It will be interesting to see how she continues to grow whenever we get the next etapa.

I have withheld this info so as not to be a spoiler, but I think it’s ok to mention now that I read that the Atilla actor wanted out of the production. So, I think we have to move on. My heart is still broken, but this is not real life, right? (I keep telling myself this!)

I am very confused about the guys menacing Filiz. They are cops? I also wonder how they can get Filiz out of debt! Cops usually have budget shortfalls! I wonder if they are in cahoots with Suleyman. He wants revenge on whoever betrayed him. This is confusing for me. It must be going to continue into next etapa as it was part of the final episode. Will Filiz turn down that beautiful ring?

I hope we don’t have to wait too long. I really like this dizi.

Thanks Jarifa, great recap. It seems everyone made bad choices in this episode. I can’t believe Estrella is believing Sergio’s lies. Erica giving advice to Brisa is a joke since she’s basically doing the same thing-hanging on to a man that doesn’t love her.

I agree that Estrella doesn’t like to be kissed by Sergio, good luck as his wife. Maybe it will be a marriage in name only. Perla and Fabian seem to be the only ones knowing she’s making a mistake.

In the Brisa triangle, if you can call it that, I feel sorry for Pascual. He needs to tell her to move out. Not sure why Gabriel can’t just tell her no.

Marina is right to not trust Adriana. And then she adds more demands. She and Gabriel were so sure Iker was her son but never questioned the dna. I guess all of us telenovela watchers know they always pay off someone in that lab!

Karsu definitely knows the guy who grabs her. Atilla is supposed to be in another country but I can’t think of anyone else she would know.

Good for Hande for telling Reha how she feels. I guess she hasn’t figured out he married her for the free babysitting. Reha thinks a nanny wouldn’t care for them, I guess he hasn’t noticed that she just tolerates his kids.

I was surprised by the cops request. Filing met Hasan at about the same time he decided to make his living honestly. And he had just served time in jail before that. So not sure what the police suspect. If I were Filiz I would tell Hassan and then he could decide what to tell the police. Is there some rule, a wife can’t testify against her husband. That would solve that. It’s a lot of money but Hasan seems to be pretty wealthy.

The restaurant scene was funny. Reha got so mad that someone was two timing his sister. But then ends up fighting with the cotton guy. I didn’t understand why he turned on him. But it hadn’t occurred to me that he was losing his invested.

I’m not sure why Can is willing to marry Karsu. I hope he’s a nice guy and won’t give her any problems.

I wonder when we find out when the second season starts.

For a "normal" woman, his hemming and hawing would indicate there was no future and she would go running but for Brisa (she of the loose screw) it might have well been a marriage proposal.

I would like to see Brisa end up like "El perro de las dos tortas" with NOBODY because she will not make up her mind.

Babachita – Sad about Atila. Where did you manage to find information? It’s very frustrating trying to get any about this show. I did read that they were shooting season 3 this year, but again I’m not sure if we saw season 1 or 1 & 2 together. I wonder why he wanted out. It’s a great part for him, so he must be eager to get to other offers. He’s quite a talent!

Liz – I don’t get why Can/Jan married either. He said it’s to his advantage, and I think he said he’ll stay until they get the divorce and then go back home. I’m wondering why it’s an advantage to him. Does he want to get a legal foothold in Turkey?

It did seem that Karsu knew Bora – she sure looked shocked to see him. Or maybe he had a chicken suit on to sell his school food service product.

Maggie, I don’t know where I read it. I do look at People en Español sometimes. It might have been there.

I agree he is a gifted actor. He was in a short series recently that has a sequel. Maybe that’s what he was looking for. Maybe Atilla wasn’t going to be the main thing and he was ready for more screen time. Hard to say. It did help me move from hoping to see him. His role was so great here that it is hard for us!

This ended exactly where the first Turkish season ended, with episode 26. There are a total of 50 Turkish episodes over 2 seasons. Dizi season finishes end of May – beginning of June. Then we wait for September to start the new season. So let’s see if we have to wait more than 3 months for the continuation.

Atilla is gone from the series for good. I see Babachita found the news item. Metin posted some pics and a farewell on social media.

I still can’t understand why Hande wants to be with Reha. At best he treats the women in his life like employees and he’s a lousy boss!

I’m also wondering why Can had to marry. Is he gay and needs to cover? And he won’t stay in Turkey? How does this present a stable home to the court? And if he divorces quickly, what will his parents say? This is strange. At least he seems like a nice guy and is good looking.

Those cops are determined to get Hasan for all the crimes he got away with in the past. I hope Filiz tells Hasan.

We didn’t see Bora but Karsu looked like she saw a ghost.

Caracol TV in Colombia has been broadcasting a novela with the title Karsu, El amor de madre nunca se rinde that is currently in its 212 episode. I haven't been able to figure out if it is the same novela or a different one since the Latin American names are so different from the Turkish names..

Babchita - I saw the link! Oh no, tension between the Atila actor and the Hasan actor. It must've been really bad for him to actually leave the show. In the article, it sounded like he loved playing the character. Sigh.

I am guessing that Atilla wanted his character to become the main guy but the writers wanted Hasan to be the main guy. It’s a waste of a gifted actor, but there may not have been room for Atilla’s role to grow.

We Atilla fans should speculate how the story would have evolved if Atilla had remained. I think the biggest problem would be what happened to Deniz’s stepfather. Atilla has blood on his hands. How could he realistically settle into domestic bliss? His past would have to be a lie as far as the kids were concerned. What if a parent found out? They might have to change schools often. And Reha would have been looking for any slip-ups.

So, I have accepted this loss as a necessary part of Karsu’s journey. But, if I start remembering all the lovely things he did to help Karsu and Deniz, I get very melancholy! I loved the Dark Knight getting the corsage and boutonniere. But, on the other hand, exposing Deniz to guns in that way was very thoughtless. I still have a mixed mind.

A.MAR #77 (original #79) Parte 1 Notes from the couch . . .

Estrella Buys Sergio's Story Hook, Line and S(t)inker
What to say? Sergio does all he can to get Estrella to want to commit to him. As Gabriel, Valentín, Oliver, Gonzalo and Fabián toast to the closing of Sergio's fishing company, Sergio with Juanjo provide a performance for an audience of one.: Estrella. Supposedly, Lorenzo, Sergio's father, has removed Sergio from his manager position in the company and given it to Juanjo because Lorenzo refuses to close down the fishing company as Sergio wants to do. The two men actually come to "blows". After getting more than an eyeful, Estrella and Azul leave. Sergio and Juanjo cannot stop laughing. Later, Sergio tells Estrella that he talked to his father and told him how things had to be. The fishing company will be closed thanks to him. He shows Estrella the headlines saying so in the local newspaper. Estrella is impressed and forever grateful.

Later, Sergio is at Meche's where they are discussing how great it is that Sergio managed to get the company closed. They are going to toast to that with the wine he brought. Perla doesn't think it is so great because she believes that Estrella is sacrificing herself for the town and her daughter and it is Sergio who is behind it all blackmailing her. She challenges Estrella to deny that she still is in love with Fabián. Meche has had enough. Sergio thinks it is best that he leave. Estrella tells him he is staying. Estrella informs her that she and Sergio are together whether she likes it or not. She needs to respect Sergio. She has no idea of how much he is sacrificing for her and Azul. He is a part of the family now. Azul arrives with dessert and the discussion ends there.

The next day, Estrella makes it clear to Sergio that she is committed to making their relationship work. It turns out that Sergio has found a house for the three of them in town not too far from Meche's. Estrella is surprised because she told him she wanted to take it slowly. He says she knows how he is. He saw it and got excited. He couldn't help himself.

Estrella tells her mother about the house. It is perfect. She also admits that although she is sure that her decision is the right one, she is finding it hard to have feelings for Sergio because she still hasn't gotten over Fabián. Meche tells her to follow her heart and she will be there for her always.

Brisa Pushes On Unfettered
It seems like Brisa is stalking Gabriel per usual.. The guy cannot get a moment alone. He stupidly confides in her that he cannot get over Marina and asks her how does one person get over another. She admits she has no idea but thinks that before you turn the page you have to make sure that there is no possibility for a second chance. You have to test that out. She is about to test it out on him with a kiss but they are interrupted by Pascual.
 

A.MAR Parte 2

Pascual refuses to be a puppy on the sidelines when Brisa shirks from having a public relationship with him in town all because of her history with Gabriel. She decides to move to Erika's.

When Brisa hears that Gabriel and Iker are going to take a father son trip she tries to convince him to go along.

Iker admits that he doesn't dislike Brisa like he did before so it is okay if she comes on a boat ride. Gabriel goes to see Brisa at Pascual's not knowing she is moving out. He invites her on an outing on the new boat with Iker and Azul. She says yes.

Valentín tries to console a sobbing Pascual. Pascual is left behind praying to God on his knees begging for help in his "via crucis" (Way of the Cross).

Family Reunion at Sea
Yazmín asks her father to take her out to where he distributed her mother's ashes in the sea. When they arrive there, she thanks her father for always being there for him and apologizes for having blamed him for her mother's death. He says there is nothing to forgive. He loves her. She next talks to her mother about how she felt losing her and how she feels now. She leaves a bouquet of flowers behind.

Marina Remembers
Marina visits with Nicolás and tells him about what Adriana said about their son being alive. Nicolás is overjoyed. If Adriana knows, they will be able to get their son and family back. Adriana barges in out of nowhere reminding Marina of what she told her. Now she will never find out what happened to her child.
She tells Nicolás that he has the most to lose. She can see Marina going back to her fisherman and him being left without her and no child either. She tells them they will be sorry with no son and doubt that will gnaw away at them. She adds that Marina exchanged a man who loved her (Gabriel) and knowledge of who her son is all for Nicolás, a traitor.

Nicolás gives Marina a bracelet that he was going to give her as a birthday gift when the hurricane hit. He is upset with her that she will not take off the bracelet that Iker gave her. He reminds her that Iker is not a part of her life anymore. She disagrees saying that he will always be a part of her life. She loves him as if he were her own. Nicolás insists that boy has nothing to do with her. Marina is increasingly upset as they argue and she remembers the hurricane arriving where she was staying with the tremendous wind and rain. Her baby was crying. She put him in the drawer of a dresser to protect him. She remembers Gabriel telling her that he found Iker in the drawer of a piece of furniture. She now knows that Iker is her son. She tells Nicolás they have found their son.

Erika Reigns Supreme
Erika tells Yazmín how proud she is of her. Yazmín is grateful that Erika never left her alone and has always been there for her. She never betrayed her. She considers her a good friend. Knowing she is in the earshot of Fabián, Erika says that she loves her not as a friend but as a daughter. She cannot take the place of her mother but she will always be there to support her in any way she can. Fabián smiles.

Perla's Personal Hell Continues
After discussing Estrella sacrificing herself for the town and Azul with Valentín in their room, Perla lets Valentín try to calm her down. Soon, they are kissing and end up on the bed. Perla has a flashback of just having been raped and still lying on the beach as El Tiburón warns her that if she tells her father what he did to her, he will kill her. Perla jumps up and tells Valentín she is not in the mood as she leaves the room.

Jarifa, with "Estrella Buys Sergio's Story Hook, Line and S(t)inker" (hilarious!) you hit the ground running and never looked back. What a wonderful recap!

I am impressed with how the various storylines are moving forward without (much) delay. How fortuitious Adriana appeared, realizing Marina spilled all the tea to Nicolas. Then she proceeds to taunt and torture Nicolas and Marina that they will NEVER find their son! Au contraire 😊Marina's selective memory found just the right door from the past to open. Remembering placing Nico in the draw to protect him, she recalled Gabriel saying he found him there. A huge piece of the puzzle revealed...

Nicolas revealed more of his rather callous nature despite Marina's protestations: "He reminds her that Iker is not a part of her life anymore...Nicolás insists that boy has nothing to do with her". To say a sensitivity chip is missing is an understatement. He changed his tune very quickly when he found out Iker is Nico...Poor Gabriel is going to have the roof cave in on him again. I sense there will be no father/son sailing off into the sunset. At least not yet.

Estrella "...admits that although she is sure that her decision is the right one, she is finding it hard to have feelings for Sergio because she still hasn't gotten over Fabián". Speechless. That was quite the little show Sergio and Juanjo put on for her and Azul's benefit. Scum.

After endlessly batting her eyes at Pascual, Brisa continues to hedge her bets. "When Brisa hears that Gabriel and Iker are going to take a father son trip she tries to convince him to go along". Another frustrated sigh escapes from my lips. Why did Gabriel say nothing??? Here's an idea - just say no! "Iker admits that he doesn't dislike Brisa like he did before" spoke volumes.

If Pascual's face hadn't kept contorting in pain, tears streaming down his cheeks, I would have felt badly for him. Good grief, man up and grow a spine. If he stopped groveling to Brisa, he might actually have a chance!

I still fail to understand Yaz's feelings toward Erika, her drug dealer. At least Yaz and Fabian are growing closer.

Finally, poor Perla. I'm hoping Fabian will put his hurt and rejection aside, realizing something is terribly amiss and that Perla is clearly traumatized.

Caracol TV bought the rights to air Sandık Kokusu/Karsu in Colombia. They are further along in the show than we are, and they are airing episodes in half hour segments instead of 1 hour. Don’t look if you don’t want spoilers!

This is not unusual. Dizis air all over the world. They are edited for foreign sales and can be sold in entirety or by season. Titles are often changed. They don’t always make sense in direct translation. The broadcaster decides on time slots for airing.

OT, Looks like papas por convencia is having a sequel. Was that on this page or Telemundo? Now that one had closure but I guess it was so well liked they are adding a season. Not sure I'm happy about that. To date I don't care for sequels as much as the original. (Admittedly it's a small sample of Mi Marido Tiene Familia, lol)

Thanks so much Jarifa, your recap was amazing. Literally a “blow by blow” account of everything that happened. Sadly, most of it was not positive!

Once I found out Nicholas had cheated on Marina with her sister, I decided he wasn’t such a nice guy. But the way he dismissed Iker as not being a part of her life anymore was just callous. It will be interesting to see how he bonds with his son. But poor Gabriel. I hope he’s doesn’t rush to Brisa! I couldn’t believe he invited her on a boat trip with Ike’s and Azul. She’s going to take that as a yes to a relationship. I hope she ends up alone.

I’m really disappointed in Estrella. It’s so obvious she has no feelings for him. I hated when Sergio and Juanjo put on their performance and then laughed. At least we know he hasn’t won her love. I wondered if the newspaper headline was a fake one. We know he’s going ahead with his plans, or at least I’m pretty sure this closing of the plant is just so he can form his family. He makes my skin crawl.

Erika sure knows how to fool people. Does she think loving mothers help their kid get drugs. And give them a room for when the boyfriend/drug dealer is in town. I wish we knew how long she and Fabian had dated and why he ended it.

I have said it before about other characters and and I will say it here again. Something is not quite right in that noggin. I find it odd that nobody seems to care that much who they are with as long as they are with somebody. Go figure!
 

A.MAR #78 (original #80) Parte 1 Notes form the Couch . . .

Estrella Makes a Choice
Gabriel tells Fabián that they caught 300 kilos of fish. Fabián tells him not to celebrate yet. Sergio is extorting Estrella. She only went back with him so he would close down his fishing company. She concluded that was also best for Azul. Fabián is going to fight for the woman he loves.

Sergio has just shown the house that he has chosen for him, Azul and Estrella. She thinks it is lovely but complains that it is too big for the three of them. He reminds her how much Azul loved it. He pays not attention to her wishes. She reminds him that agreeing to become a family is too important to rush things. They were going to take things slowly. He takes offense at that and says that he hopes that she is serious about giving their relationship as family a second chance. Fabián calls her. She doesn't answer. Sergio guesses who the call is from and asks if the real reason for her reluctance is that she is planning on going back to that fifth class fisherman. She asks him not to bring Fabián into it. He makes the point that Fabián isn't calling him. Azul comes and goes pausing the conversation. After she leaves, Estrella says she is capable for doing whatever for Azul BUT she will not allow Sergio to keep blackmailing her. That is ending right now.She will not be moving in anywhere with him. They are over. He thinks she better think hard about that. If she isn't with the plan, there will be consequences. There is no turning back now.

As Sergio leaves, he runs into Fabián who is coming to visit Estrella,. Sergio confronts him asking what is he doing coming to see Estrella He thinks Fabián needs to get the fact that Estrella belongs to him straight in his head. Fabián tells him that Estrella doesn't love him. He cannot believe how he treats Estrella with contempt and threats. Has he no shame? She is the mother of his daughter. They continue to insult each other as Sergio keeps physically pushing Fab ver and over again. Sergio goes to hit him but Fabián beats him to the punch and he lands on the ground. Fabián calls him a criminal. Sergio says he will pay for this.

Sergio calls Juanjo to tell Adriana to reopen the fishing company and to go ahead with the plans for the processing plant. The town will be nothing but a memory soon. Later, he talks to them in person. Adriana complains about how hard it will be to reactivate the fishing company and get new investors. Sergio doesn't care. He only wants it done!!!!

Estrella goes to see Fabián and hugs him. She informs him that she is done with Sergio. She cold not be in a relationship without love. He agrees. She feels great but knows there will be consequences. Fabián tells her she is no longer alone in her desire to support the town. She gets a call from Azul. She needs to go and tell her what happened with her father.

Azul takes the bad news surprisingly well. Estrella tells her she is the best thing that has ever happened to her. Azul tells her the same.

Sergio calls Estrella asking if she has thought everything over. There is a lot in play. She wants to talk to him in person. He refuses. She refuses to be a part of his farce. He says fine and hangs up.
 

A.MAR Parte 2

Erika is Rejected Soundly by Fabián
Fabián comes home and grabs a beer. SURPRISE! Erika appears. She was visiting Yazmín. She offers to leave. He answers that he has a lot on his mind. He gives her credit for helping his daughter be who she is today. Erika says Yazmín is his daughter so how could she not help her? He recognizes that she has been there supporting both of them. He will always be thankful for that. As she tries to caress is face, she says he doesn't get it. He tells her "no" and turns his head. She would do anything for him. She begs him to give their love another chance. There is nothing more that she would love than to be his wife and be a mother to Yazmín. They have a great time when the two of them are together. What more could he want? He answers that he wants to be in love. She says she knows that he prefers Erika but she is there and Estrella isn't. Fabián is honest with her. He values her too much to tell her that he can give her what he will never be able to. He apologizes and she leaves.

Marina Learns the Truth
Marina and Nicolás go to the lab that did the DNA test to ask if there could be an error. They get the run around from TWO lab employees. Nicolás threatens them with filing complaints against them and the lab. One employee finally admits the truth. A man came on behalf of a lawyer who was a woman working on an adoption case. He paid them a good quantity of money to change the the results of the DNA test. Nicolás demands that they text him the results of the unadulterated test if they do not want to end up in court.

Marina and Nicolás go to confront the ever smirking Adriana. She admits that she did what they are accusing her of and yes, Iker is their son. Marina leaves.
Adriana dares Nicolás to press charges against her and he will see what will happen. She makes it clear that she is not through with him. Rather, she is going to wait until he is all settled and happy in his life with his wife and son. She will make sure he loses it all. He leaves.

Gabriel, Iker, Azul and Brisa arrive at the port. Gabriel tells Iker they will be sailing for a month. Iker says that pirates like him never tire of being at sea.
Gabriel gets a call from Marina.

Marina and Nicolás go to the restaurant where they receive the test results proving they are Iker's parents. Marina has called Gabrie. Iker and Gabriel arrive and Marina cannot contain the joy she feels when she sees Iker. She and Gabriel go to his house where she gives him the news. Gabriel is not surprised and he is happy that Iker has found his mother. He couldn't have a better one. She says that neither she or Nicolás have talked about what comes next. They agree that Iker's well-being is their priority.
 

A.MAR Parte 3

Brisa Freaks Out
Right before Brisa leaves on her sailing day trip, she runs into Pascual at the restaurant. He has no time to talk to her. It turns out that he is meeting with the village priest because he will be entering the seminary. He is going to become a priest. She is shocked and asks him why. He says he got a calling from the Lord. In his head, he says it it to forget her. She tells him he cannot do that. She thinks that she will never ever be able to kiss him again but she says because he is a very good fisherman. That is his vocation. He answers saying he will be a fisherman of souls! Her phone rings. He guesses it is Gabriel. He tells her it's okay and tells her to go to her prince who is waiting for her. She pats his face and says goodbye to her puppy.

Valentín visits Brisa later and tells her that Pascual has gone off the deep end.She agrees. He then adds that Pascual is going to be a priest because he cannot get over her.

Perla
Valentín takes Perla out to eat and talks to her about maybe moving out of her mother's house. He wants them to have their own space since they are married. They need their privacy. She looks happy but nervous.

Perla goes to see the same doctor who saw her after her rape. She explains how any time her husband touches her she freezes. She cannot avoid it. She doesn't feel love only fear. It is as if her attacker is touching her and not her husband. She loves her husband but she is afraid. She asks the doctor to help her.

Jarifa, another outstanding recap.My cable was acting up tonight so am especially grateful for all of your marvelous details, some of which I missed.

Estrella stiffened her spine and made a choice, overt consequences be damned. Atta girl. Finally! I was also surprised Azul seemed to accept her mother's decision without petulant posturing and feet stamping. Sergio's anger continued unabated, outrage and retribution already in motion. Predictable but head shaking nevertheless.

"Erika is Rejected Soundly by Fabián". Hooray! Here's hoping Fabian has FINALLY learned his lesson and doesn't backslide. He was very firm with Erika leaving me wondering if she will team up with Sergio again to keep Fabian and Estrella from being together. "Fabián tells her she is no longer alone in her desire to support the town". Well Estrella never was alone was she? I'm wondering what Fabian can possibly do to keep Sergio from fulfilling his threat to ruin the town. And their lives.

So Pascual is joining the priesthood. I actually think he would be a great priest if it was his true vocation but he is doing it to escape. Perhaps a reconciliation with Brisa is in the future...

So it must have been Juanjo who paid off the lab? Multiple payoffs must have changed hands. Good for Marina who held her ground at the lab, knowing what she remembered was the evidence to contradict what she and Gabriel had been told. Adriana, a woman truly scorned leaves no doubt she will haunt Nicolas til his dying day. Is he not afraid Marina is going to remember that he cheated on her ??

I'm so relieved Perla is going to continue her therapy and I hope she has a breakthrough soon. Smart Valentin was exactly right in wanting them to move out of her mother's - they deserve to be happy.

Thank you so much for "Gabriel is not surprised and he is happy that Iker has found his mother. He couldn't have a better one. She says that neither she or Nicolás have talked about what comes next". My transmission was out during this critical scenea and your dialogue is greatly appreciated. I'm not surprised Gabriel was kind; but yes, what on earth will happen next?
