A.MAR #79 (Original #81) Parte 1 Notes from the Couch . . . "Everything Hits the Fan Edition" We have 9 episodes left after tonight.

Brisa Provides the Comedy
Brisa bristles at Valentín telling her that she played with Pascual's feelings. She admits she fell in love with her "puppy" but quickly qualifies it by adding "like a pet" because the love of her life is Gabriel. Valentín never wanted to believe the bad rep she had for being selfish but how she played Pascual has proven her rep to be worse than he could imagine.

Brisa goes to see Gabriel who tells her all about finding out who Iker's parents are. Gabriel says it is tough. She cheers him on as she usually does. A smiling Gabriel has to admit although she has annoyed him, he has to admit that she has always been there to support him, in her own way, and to move heaven and earth to help him. He thanks her for not abandoning him. She kisses him and then pulls back puzzled. Gabriel asks if she is okay. Brisa says that she has just realized that she is not in love with him anymore. He is no longer the love of her life but she knows who is. She leaves.

She goes to see Pascual. She has bad news for him and good news for him. The bad news is that she kissed Gabriel. The good news is that she is no longer in love with Gabriel but is in love with him. He is the one she wants to spend the rest of her life is. She kisses Pascual and he pushes her away. He informs her that they cannot be together because he is going to be a priest. She is shocked. She tries to change his mind but cannot. He has an appointment with Father Tomás. He leaves her standing alone crying in his house.

Perla's Problem Continues
Valentín has recognized that Perla has a problem and tells her how much he loves her but wants to know why she is rejecting him. He touches her and she sees el Tiburón in her mind She tells him it isn't him but her. She uses not wanting to leave her mother alone in the house as her excuse for not wanting them to move out. . She says there are so many things to consider. He tells her that they can handle any problem together and he will not pressure her about anything. She can decide what she is ready to do whenever she wants.

Perla talks to her doctor. Her doctor tells her that the best course of action is to be honest with her husband about what happened to her. Perla is afraid of what Valentín is going to think of her when he finds out that she was with another man. (NOOOO! The double standard??? Valentín was having wild sex with his police officer girlfriend and everyone knew it! This is the 21st century. Give me a break!) The doctor tells her that what she went through doesn't affect her value. Her husband loves her. Perla is too afraid of losing him.
 

A.MAR Parte 2

Iker's New Family
At Gabriel's and with Nicolás present, Marina tells Iker about that the night of the hurricane. She put her baby in the drawer of a dresser to save him.
That happened to be the same drawer that Gabriel found him in. Iker is her son. Nicolás adds that he is his father. He thanks Gabriel for all he did for his son. Iker is all smiles. He is the mermaid's son.

Later that night, Gabriel asks Iker how he is feeling. He is so happy that the mermaid is his mother. It is just what he wanted. Iker asks his father if they are still going on their sailing trip. Gabriel says they will have to postpone it since the mermaid and Nicolás want to spend time with him. Iker thinks it will be good to be able to see the mermaid more. Iker is worried about what is going to happen to him and Gabriel. Will they be separated again? Gabriel can't answer.

Nicolás thinks it is odd that they know that Iker is their son but they left him with Gabriel. Marina has to remind him that Gabriel has been the only father he has ever known. Nicolás knows that but doesn't want to hear it because he is the boy's father. It isn't HIS fault that he has been without his son all of these years. He looked for him for years until he couldn't any more. He and she need to become Iker's parents legally.

The next morning, Marina comes by Gabriel's house to pick up Iker for breakfast with her and Nicolás. She has the chance to talk to Gabriel who tells her that Iker is afraid that he is going to be taken from him. She tells him not to worry. She and Nicolás will never force Iker to do what he doesn't want to. Gabriel wonders what would have happened if they had gotten the correct DNA results in the first place. He thinks they would have stayed together.

Iker reluctantly goes out for breakfast with Marina and Nicolás. The problems start to arise when Nicolás goes overboard to try to please his son. Iker is overwhelmed by Nicolás's attention. NIcolás orders him double french fries. He brings him a pirate book. He wants them to go play soccer on Sunday. They can have a father and son afternoon. Iker informs him that he has a father: Gabriel Arenas.

When the food arrives, Nicolás is away from the table. Iker manages to cover his ceviche with hot sauce without being seen by Marina and soon Nicolas' eyes and nose are watering and he is coughing. Iker laughs behind his hand. Marina gives Nicolás some bread and water to lessen effects. She asks Iker why he did such a thing. He answers her saying he didn't want to come in the first place and he doesn't like HIM (Nicolás). As he regains his composure, Nicolás says it is only a matter of time. They have to spend more time together. Iker doesn't wnat to be taken from his father bcause of this man (Nicolás). Iker leaves. They go after him.

Iker is sitting on the beach and wants to be alone when he is found. Nicolás understands that he is going through a lot of changes and that he is a stranger to him but he has known him since he was in his mother's belly. He is only looking for a chance to get to know him. Iker says he is not his Nico. With Gabriel and Marina he could have a family. Iker gets up and starts to run. Nicolás shouts at him and grabs his arm. Iker tells him to let him go. He tells Marina he wants to leave.
 

AMAR Parte 3

When they get back to Gabriel's, Iker tells Gabriel what Nicolás did. Gabriel decides to discuss it with Nicolás who says he only raised his voice. Gabriel tries to explain how sensitive the situation with Iker is. Besides that, he is a very sensitive kid. Nicolás is only asking that Gabriel be open to sharing Iker with him and Marina. Gabriel agrees but adds that he will not force him. This is going to take time. Nicolás says he is not there to force anything but adds that it seems that Iker has spent his life doing whatever he feels like. Gabriel informs him that he will not have him coming into his home talking like that about Iker, shouting at the kid or yanking him around. Nicolás again expresses
his gratitude to Gabriel for what he did for his son but he must be aware that he and Marina could take Iker away from him right now even though that would not be the best for him. He suggests that they handle this in the most civilized way possible. They all have to be on the same side. That is HIS side, his real parents' side.

Marina tries to comfort Iker who is crying on his bed. He is afraid that now she is with Nicolás, they will want him to live with them. She promises she will never ever do anything to make him suffer. He is the person she loves most in this world. She asks him if he trusts his mermaid. He says he trusts her and calls her mother for the first time. They hug.

Nicolás is frustrated that he cannot be with his son more. Marina and Nicolás end up deciding to move to town to be closer to Iker. He is worried that she still might have feelings for Gabriel. She thinks he deserves the truth. Yes, she still has feelings for Gabriel but she isn't with him. She is with HIM (Nicolás).He promises to make it worth her while.

Sergio's Plan
Sergio comes to see Azul and assures her that his relationship with her mother will not affect what they have. She can always count on him. Estrella asks if he is going through with his threat. He repeats THREAT? No, everything that is going to happen is a result of the decisions SHE made.

Porfirio comes to see Fabián about his fight with Sergio. He is being removed as president of the union. He is not projecting the image that is required. He broke a rule in the union's handy dandy rule book. There were witnesses to the fight but he somehow cannot say what they are. There will be an election for a new president. Fabián thinks Porfirio will be looking for somebody that can be controlled. He promises him that he will not be silenced. Porfirio goes to see Nemesio and find out if he would be interested in running.

Juanjo has a job offer for Brisa. Alfa Sur is reopening. She is worried about things going badly with the union again. He says that they are planning on doing things differently. They have a new way of dealing with the union. She thinks not with Fabián. He becomes aware that she hasn't heard. Fabián has been removed as the president of the union. They will want her to help convince people to vote for their candidate to be president of the union.

Estrella goes looking for Fabián to tell him that Sergio is reopening his fishing company. Fabián suddenly realizes that Sergio had it all been planned. He tells her that he hit Fabián. He feels like it was a set up. He also feels like that no matter what happens things will be okay if they face it together. Estrella says she no longer has to pretend that she doesn't love him because she does. He says his whole heart belongs to her.

Fabián tells Valentín and Oliver that the fishing company is reopening. Fabián
says that at least hey know what is going to happen and how to deal with it. it is is going to hit the town quickly so they have to be prepared. Estrella arrives to tell them that they need to keep up with what is going on and the union election. They agree to work as a team.
 

A.MAR Parte 4

Sergio is going to hold a press conference at Alfa Sur. Before talking to the press, he deletes his happy family photos with Estrella and Azul. He announces that his fishing company will be reopening after having taken a break for improvements. They will also be rolling out more new projects to support the local economy. The well-being of the people who live there is their priority. All of the fishermen watch on Fabián's phone.
 

Los Hilos

Okay, the beautiful church is Iglesia de la Nuestra Señora de los Remedios in Cholula (near Pueblo) It’s on top of the largest pyramid in the world.

I’m still figuring out whether I’ll keep watching. The story is good and there are so many cast members that I enjoy. But I wish the writing wasn’t so cartoony.

I too wondered why Salvador’s mom would want him to go into the priesthood. It looks like he’s her only child. What about grandbabies? What about carrying on the family name? I gather she’s atoning for some past sin by giving her son to the church. But why is she so fixated on his making it into the Vatican?

Maggie, I just watched the first episode this morning and I agree with you about the writing. The way it is written makes it seem like a very old fashioned production. The dialogue seems so stiff. Once there is the time jump, will there be a difference? I also agree that the cast is top notch. I was impressed with the casting of Manuel Duarte as the young Father Salvador. He had the same features as David Zepeda the older Father Salvador. Thanks for the info on the location. I tried to find the ratings for this novela in Mexico but it turns out that Univision-Televisa is starting this novela first here in the USA. I do not know if I will continue watching.
 

CON ESA MISMA MIRADA
Univision-Televisa is taking one of its series off of its VIX platform and will be showing it in the 8:00 EST slot starting Monday 9/29. They did the same thing earlier this year with Diana Salazar (yes, I am still waiting for them to broadcast season 3!!!!) and other productions on Sunday nights.

“Con esa misma mirada” has two 8 episode seasons for a total of 16. Will they show both seasons? At this time, only Univision-Televisa knows.

Jarifa, what an episode! "Everything Hits the Fan" indeed. Your rendition of the action and the multitude of emotions was perfection.

Nicolas doesn't know his son; he loves him but it is not a familiar love but a love born of paternity. If he were a wiser and a more compassionate man, he would give Iker the time and space he desperately needs to try and sort things out. He would try to let Iker accept him in his own way. Marina honestly feels that "She and Nicolás will never force Iker to do what he doesn't want to". True on her part, not on his. Shared custody does not seem feasible, it appers a Solomon like decision will need to be made.

Conversely, Valentin (staunch defender of Pascual), "tells (Perla) that they can handle any problem together and he will not pressure her about anything. She can decide what she is ready to do whenever she wants". The epitome of true love. So sad that Perla is afraid of telling the truth (a huge double standard as you wisely noted).I did like the sage advice from the doctor who "tells her that what she went through doesn't affect her value. Her husband loves her".

The Gabriel/Iker scene was rather haunting "Iker is worried about what is going to happen to him and Gabriel".Gabriel has only the best interest of Iker in mind. He loves him ferociously and will always look out for his best interests. He will not let Nicolas treat Iker badly.

Brisa finally realizes Pascual is the true love of her life. I gather the priesthood will not be gaining a new recruit. I look forward to seeing how this plays out.

Sergio's scheme is out; now is the time for everyone to join forces and vanquish this snake once and for all. Finally, Estrella and Fabian are together! It would be gratifying if Brisa takes the job and works from within to help destroy Sergio. She has quite a bit to atone for.

After reading what some said here, I had to see the church! What a beautiful church. The fact that it’s on top of a huge pyramid is so Mexico! I looked at pictures that show it close to the big volcano Popocatépetl. That’s so Mexico!

The cast is excellent. We have Santamaría again, always great.

Soooo, I think I’ll start it and see how it goes. Maybe the dialogue will improve.

OT. I watched some of Monteverde on YouTube. It was great! I really hope to see it soon!!!

Thanks Jarifa, your recap was excellent. So I guess it’s safe to assume our main couple will remain together with only 9 episodes left. They have several other couples they need to work on.

I wonder if Gabriela will ever discover Brisa was the one that caused Ike’s to be taken away. I don’t feel she deserves to get off scott free. Although if she does start helping Fabian and the others I might feel she deserves a happy ending.

They also need to resolve the death of Meche’s husband and the missing money! And Profirio and Erika’s mom need to end up in jail.

So Nicholas is not going to be an understanding dad. Hopefully Marina will see this, if she hadn’t already realized it. And it seems she still loves Gabriel. I hope she gets her memory back and remembers her husbands betrayal.

It looks like Fabian realizes Sergio was never going to shut down his project. I’m wondering why we don’t see his dad more. He’s been blaming his dad for this whole project, at least to Estrella.

Hoping this ends the way I want it to!

Diana , yes I think that King Solomon might be needed in this case. Iker had nobody and now has too many adults who want him. I, too, wonder how long it will be until Pascual gives up his priestly desires.

Well I wrote something earlier, then took a nap, and I don’t see my post. Wondering if I forgot to hit post. I took a nap as I’m fighting off a cold so who knows what I did. But thanks Jarifa, for the recap. Happy for Fabian and Estrella. Waiting for Porfirio and Erika’s mom to be discovered as the murderers they are. And I hope Fabian discovers all Erica did. If Brisa works with the fishermen against Sergio I’ll forgive her for her selfishness and foolishness!

Ok, 2 in the bag. I'm learning character names and Wondering where have I seen that actor before ...so then I search wiki to find out where. I'm Catholic. I'm shocked that padre Salvador has spent 20 years at his home church! In the US priests move often. Looks like his father died and mom is all alone now. If Salvador goes to the Vatican like she is praying for she will be all alone. Or does she imagine she would tag along. The writing hasn't bugged me too much as I spend my time translating in my head and trying to figure out the characters. I really wish CC's would put the characters name in parenthesis all the time. (The occasional actor speaking when the camera isn't on them does generate a name I've noticed.

Is Christina in an orphanage. I had hopes the solo person in the nice house that Catalina left her baby at would have adopted her. Then again, that is asking for trouble, turning the infant in to the police would have been more practical. Was the guy that worked there the same guy that took her hand while she was sheltered in the doorway? This is the same guy that seems to have a young girl under his care, perhaps for nefarious purposes.

I recognize mature padre Salvador by his sing song voice that grated on me in A.mar. Conversely I can listen to Eduardo Santamarina all day. Carolina was stingy in not telling him te amo back after the desfile. Those dresses were so much prettier than the weird stuff Velvet subjected us to. Also more than 5 or 6 dresses were in the fashion show it seemed.

The Closer We Get to the End the Longer the Recaps Become . . .

Fishermen Against Sergio
Fabián and Estrella encourage their fishermen to go and catch as many fish as they can before Sergio's company starts up again. They are distracted by a crowd cheering for Nemesio as he marches down the beach. Standing with Porfirio and Brisa, Nemesio tells Fabián that he is running for president of the union. Fabián accuses Porfirio as being behind this move, too. Nemesio is a puppet that will be easily controlled. Estrella demands that her sister tells her what is going on. She answers that Nemesio will be the next president of the union because he is the best choice! She gets everyone to cheer. Fabián insists Sergio will not get away with it.

The fishermen decide they need a candidate to run against Nemesio. Gabriel and Fabián nominate Estrella. She accepts. She practices with her friends her stump speech about the importance of community. She also tells them that people from Alfa Sur have been pulling strings behind the scenes to hurt them. She is there to fight with them and for them. Nemesio practices his own speech with his own audience.

Fabián's Dalliance Comes Back to Bite Him
At the end of the day, Fabián and Estrella are very happy with the amount of fish they were able to catch. Fabián hopes that she has realized that they are invincible together. She agrees they are a great team. He says it might not be time but he wants to let her know that whenever she is ready, he is open to whatever she wants from him. He would love to see her as the last thing before
before he falls asleep and the first thing he sees in the morning. He wants to spend his life at her side. She smiles and nods. He gets a call from Erika and ignores it as Estrella asks him to be patient but reminds him that she loves him. They kiss.

Fabián listens to his voice mail. Erika says she needs to see him. It is urgent. He goes over to see her. She tells him she is pregnant. She shows him the pregnancy test. He is the father. She didn't want to keep anything from him. She will be fine as a single mother. If she is pregnant he says he will assume his responsibility as he should. She thanks and hugs him.

Fabián tells his father that Erika is pregnant. They are going to Erika's doctor tomorrow. Gonzalo presumes he will tell Estrella the truth. Fabián says he will if the pregnancy is confirmed. Gonzalo asks him what he is going to do about Erika. He honestly doesn't know. The only thing he is sure about is that he can't lose Estrella again

The doctor asks how Erika got pregnant. Erika says she was using a contraceptive and it just happened. The doctor says that is not an uncommon occurrence. He does an ultrasound and proclaims that Erika is pregnant! He points to a speck that he says is a fetus on the ultrasound. He congratulates them. Fabián looks like he has been hit by a truck. Erika is happy!!!
 

A.MAR Parte 2

In the meantime, Estrella bemoans the fact to Perla that Fabián wasn't at her stump speech to support her. They hope that the fishermen think about what is good for the community and vote for her. She tells Perla that he said that something unexpected came up. He hasn't texted her either.

After they get back, Fabián tells Erika he will buy the vitamins and supplements the doctor prescribed . The doctor said her pregnancy is high risk. She asks that he tell nobody about her pregnancy until the first three months are over. He agrees. She starts to cry but assures him that it is out of happiness. She is asking him for nothing. He reminds her she isn't alone. He will make sure she is wanting for nothing. He clarifies that it is one thing that he is the father of her child and another that they are a couple. He adds that she knows that he is in love with Estrella and that will not change. She asks him what he means. He will be the best father in the world but that changes nothing between them.

Surprises for Sergio
Juanjo tells Sergio that his father had a heart attack a few hours ago and is in the hospital. All Sergio can worry that his father's will needs to be changed. He is going to Mexico City right now.

Sergio visits his father Lorenzo in the hospital. When his father wakes up, Sergio tells him what a scare he gave him. Lorenzo is less than optimistic. Sergio tells him he is strong and will get better. He has so many things to get better for. Sergio says that Azul sends him a kiss. He lies and says that he, Estrella and Azul are getting ready to move into a new house and form a home of their own. Lorenzo says that the heart attack has shown him that it is time for him to retire and leave it all in Sergio's hands. He has never been surer of any thing in his life. He is so proud of Sergio who he knows will direct Alfa Pacífico to new successes. Sergio agrees and says he will have the lawyers draw up the appers ASAP. Sergio will try lead the company as well as his father did.

Later, Juanjo tells Sergio the lawyers are with his father and the papers are ready to sign . He will have total control of Alfa Pacífco. Lorenzo, from his hospital bed, signs all of the papers giving total control of his business to Sergio. Sergio thanks him.

Sergio calls Estrella to ask her if she knows what she is doing running to be head of the union. When she is president of the union and starts to go against him, she will be putting Azul in the middle. She make sit clear that she has no intentions of doing that.Well, he is now the head of Alfa Pacífic and she has no idea what she is in for. She is sick of his blackmailing her. She is no longer afraid of him.
 

A.MAR Parte 3

Iker's Journey
Gabriel and Marina are taking videos of Iker at the end of the school year song and dance performances. They congratulate him afterwards. Iker is all smiles. He is over the moon because his mom came to see him. Gabriel takes happy photos of the three of them.

Afterwards, Gabriel and Marina end up at the restaurant. They look at the joyful photos. She says it has been along time since she has felt like that. . . like since when she first arrived in town. He asks if she wouldn't like to feel happy like that all the time. She says she is with Nicolás now so moving back is not possible. She and Nicolás have a house now in town to be close to Nico. Gabriel wants her to consider the three of them living together again and her being happy again. Before she can respond. Nicolás appears, with a gift for Iker, excusing himself for interrupting them. He is there to celebrate, too.

Nicolás offers to leave for a few minutes so they can finish talking since it seems intimate. Marina says they are done talking. .Nicolás doesn't know if Gabriel agrees. Gabriel is less than pleased with his answer but Iker appears
and everyone's attention turns to him. Nicolás says he knows he wasn't invited but he came anyway to congratulate him on the end of the year. He brought him a gift. It is a model project of a golden treasure chest. Iker sounds excited as Nicolás says he worked on a lot of airplane models when he was a kid with his father. Gabriel smiles and enthusiastically says it sounds really great. He prompts Iker to thank Nicolás which he barely does. Nicolás suggests that maybe they can work on it together. Iker answers maybe. Marina is not satisfied with the "maybe" She thinks that he and Nicolás will have a really good time starting to work on it. Iker is expressionless while Gabriel keeps his faked smile on his face and pats Iker's hand.

Iker gets bored working on the project with Nicolás and asks his mother if he can go outside for awhile. She goes with him. Nicolás has the chance to talk to Gabriel. They each discuss having formed a family with Marina. Nicolás says in his case, it is a matter of years while in Gabriel's it is a matter of mere months. Gabriel confesses that he is still in love with Marina. Nicolás tells him to get a family of his own and to quit trying to steal his. Gabriel insists he is not trying to take anything away from him. In the case of Iker, he might be Nicolás' blood but he, also, is HIS son. He needs to remember that. Incensed, Nicolás jumps up raises him voice (the other patrons react) and tells Gabriel that he might have taken care of Iker all those years. He may have raised him but that does not make him his father. He never will be. He adds that sooner or later, Iker will go to be with his real family. Marina comes in and Nicolás is more than happy to tell her he is fed up. He is tired of being patient, having to be quiet and trying to be reasonable with a guy who is after his wife and take his son away from him. Gabriel is silent as he observes him coldly and calmly as he munches on something. Nicolás leave in a huff and Marina scurries after him.
 

A.MAR Parte 4

Back at their house, Nicolás continues his tantrum. He tells Marina not to expect him to stand there and do nothing while that guy tries to steal their family. She tells him tos stop it already. She is with him. She decided to be with him. Nicolás asks how long will that last. She has admitted that she still feels things for Gabriel. He is afraid that at any moment she could decide to go back to Gabriel and start a family with him. He lost them once and he has no plans on losing them again. There is only one thing to do: file for legal custody of their son and get him away from this town. Marina disagrees. He asks her what is he supposed to do then??? He spent years looking for his son so he could be with him. (uh, it seems like Iker and Nicolás have only known each other for a 3 days at most? ) He will not allow a guy like Gabriel to get in the way with his son or her. He apologizes but he has to think of himself. She answers that if he separates Iker from Gabriel, he will never forgive him. She pledges she will do all she can to get their family back. He agrees . . . for now.

Marina comes over to tell Gabriel that Nicolás is thinking about going to court to get custody of Iker, leave town and take him with them. She says she has talked him out of it for the time being but he could legally do it. She says that Nicolás has his own story. After all he suffered after the hurricane, he feels like Gabriel wants to take his family away from him. Now Gabriel has to do his part. He needs to stay away from her and not to mention living together again. She is with Nicolás and will not leave him. He starts to ask her how she feels. She is not talking about that. He needs to pay attention to what she said unless he wants Nicolás to take Iker away.

Nicolás is Offered a Deal He Cannot Refuse
Adriana meets with Nicolás. She has a construction contract for his company for the processing plant that Sergio wants to build in town. He asks if this is her way of keeping him around. She cannot deny she would like to but, no, that isn't the point. She explains how the construction of the plant will destroy the town. Gabriel will lose his job and house. That will make it so much easier for him to get his son back. Later, Nicolás calls Sergio and tells him he will be happy to go into business with him and asks when they can meet to sign the contract.

At the End of a Long Day
Fabián comes to see Estrella who is overjoyed to see him. She needed one of his hugs all day long. She tells him that Sergio is now threatening her but she is still running for president. Now more than ever, she needs to be resolute before him. She notices he looks worried and asks him what is wrong. He says just a few problems he has to solve that they can talk about later and turns the topic back to the election.

Another Romance Heats Up
Meche tells Gonzalo that she loves him. She's serious. He is overwhelmed. She kisses him. She makes it clear that they will not be having any intimacy until there is an engagement. He suggests they get married the next day. Why waste time? She wants to take things a bit more slowly.

This read like a marvelous short story. Progress and backsliding. Tensions and raw emotion ran high and unabated. Treachery, jealousy, love and hate swirled throughout and you captured them all beautifully Jarifa.

I had hoped we would be spared the pregnancy card and am dismayed that it was played at this late date. Once again, the galan's brain turns to mush and accepts the lie at face value without question. Why does no one ever insist to go to a reputatable doctor they choose? At least Fabian told Erika "He will be the best father in the world but that changes nothing between them" which was something. I hope this lie is quickly exposed.

Meanwhile, Gabriel, who is turning out to be the real galan here, handles Nicolas masterfully. "Gabriel confesses that he is still in love with Marina. Nicolás tells him to get a family of his own and to quit trying to steal his. Gabriel insists he is not trying to take anything away from him. In the case of Iker, he might be Nicolás' blood but he, also, is HIS son" was the perfect retort. He fully supports Iker and tries his best to smooth over Nicolas' impatience and the unrealistic expectations he has of Iker. He is genuinely kind and caring to too loyal Marina who "...is with Nicolás and will not leave him. He starts to ask her how she feels. She is not talking about that". Although his heart is breaking, Gabriel has been staunchly strong and supportive. Now that Nicolas has thrown his lot in with Sergio, ("Gabriel will lose his job and house"), he will surely slit his own throat. I have no objection. :)

"He is so proud of Sergio who he knows will direct Alfa Pacífico to new successes". Oh Lorenzo...Sergio was sickening when he kissed his father's hands. Also, does Juanjo have any expression other than that of a perpetual smirk??

Fabian tells Estrella "He says just a few problems he has to solve". Really???

Meche and Gonzalo were so endearing. We needed their sweet kiss and Gonzalo's happiness and enthusiasm was uplifting.

Jarifa, your storytelling hit yet another high note. Every blank I had was filled in exceptionally well. Thank you...

Wait, I’m confused. Do we think the doorstep baby/now young woman is the one who got the flowers, or the one who got slapped by Sergio Goyri? And anyway, how can the flower seller getting change from the next door shop take so long that the entire dress show and auction was already over when the young woman finally arrived with the bouquet?

And Carlos (Emmanuel Palomares) saw the young lady who later got the flowers (Carolina? I don’t have these people straight yet) and said she was amazingly pretty, prettier than any model he’d seen. Well, she is a lovely thing, but I don’t think she’d stand out in a room full of models.

I do wish the characters weren’t drawn in crayon and had nuance and depth. Such a great cast! I wish the writers had given them more to work with.

Thanks so much, Jarifa, for your outstanding recap which gives a true play by play of the action. Thanks also for finding my post from yesterday! I was afraid I was so full of cold medicine that I never posted it.

Erika’s pregnancy was a big surprise for me! I think because she had the pregnancy test in her hand I just assumed it was true. I would love for it to be fake. That would sure end her friendship with Fabián. But I can’t figure out how you get a positive pregnancy test. Unless she assumed Fabián would never look at it closely.

I feel sorry for Sergio’s dad. He has no idea what a creep his son is. He’ll have to live long enough to find out. Maybe he’ll decide he needs to recuperate near the ocean, expecting to stay with Sergio and family!

So Nicholas is now working for the enemy. I think he just kissed his wife and son good-bye. He really is pretty clueless about kids. Íker knows he’s trying too hard.

Meche and Gonzalo are so cute together. Hopefully they’ll have smooth sailing until the end of the show!

I don't think doorstep baby is the girl being pimped out by Sergio (I don't know his characters name yet, nor his real name but I guess you do Maggie). Looked it up, it's Ramiro. I think he befriends young girls at the apartment complex, maybe he is the landlord, then when they can't pay, or get a job he finds a "job" for them. Hope Marisol and Christina aren't ensnared in his dirty deeds.

His son sure is no looker, but Carolina's daughter, Romina, did a double take when he came to her party. The parents were rather cool.allwing the party to continue another 2 hours, without alcohol. None of them gave up their red solo cups though I noticed.

I'm surprised the nuns want Christina to go into modeling. Maybe she is a good seamstress and they hope she will get hired in the factory though. So Marisol and Christina appear to have aged out of the orphanage and are out in the big world. I would have thought the nuns would have helped them find a job first. Did Christina suggest they rent out one of the bedrooms to help pay the rent?

Hopefully this show doesn't have too many bad guys in it. Ramiro is obviously awful....

I hadn't watched this at all this week, but I watched episode 1 and 2 today and it looks interesting... great cast as many have said. I wasn't a fan of Emmanuel Palomares in years past, but he's grown on me. I don't know if he's gotten better with more experience/roles or if he's just getting better roles now, either way I've become a fan.

Might be interesting to see Big Ed play the role of pinning husband to a wife that just isn't that into him, haven't seen that one yet. I was kind of digging the artsy, trying too hard to be cool persona he had going on at the fashion show and the music studio.

Thanks, for your comments Diana and Liz. So much to still be settled as the characters hurtle towards the end!

I was shocked as both of you by the pregnancy. It is hard to believe that it is legit because Erika will do anything to get Fabián. Would the writers give her a miscarriage? That would not seem to fit in with the tone of the whole novela but then they did kill off Ulises. I hope that there is something fishy somewhere so she isn't really pregnant.

I also hope that something happen to Nicolás so Iker isn't stuck being tormented by him.

Darcy, I have also come to appreciate Palomares. Actors grow as well, so it might be maturity. I did like his lovely curly hair in a TN a ways back.

Some actors I like. Some not so much. I will follow this for awhile. Always enjoy Santamaria!
