TELEMUNDO Y MÁS (#2) Dinastía Casillas, Bahar: Esencia de Mujer, y más: Week of October 6, 2025
Here's Page 2 for the week. The current telenovelas are as follows (all times are Eastern Daylight Time):
9 - 10PM - Dinastía Casillas**
10 - 11PM - Bahar: Esencia de Mujer
**A new telenovela, Dinastía Casillas, began on Tuesday in the 9 PM time slot. It's something of a continuation of El Señor de los Cielos. Since only two episodes have appeared so far, it should be easy to catch up on Telemundo's website. See this past Monday's Telemundo y Más page for more information. Recappers are welcome.
Everyone is welcome to join in the conversation. Since discussions of all the novelas share the same page, please remember to put the name of the telenovela you're referring to at the top of your post, so readers can easily find the conversations they're looking for.
By common agreement, this group DOES NOT discuss previews, trailers, or any other plot information not found in a current or past episode of the current production. Spoilers WILL be removed by the admin. This includes reference to earlier productions of the story, and even the original novel. Thanks for your cooperation!
Labels: bahar, casillas, telemundo
In many of the original episodes, we get a monologue from Bahar with a montage that pertains to what is happening in the dizi.
Bahar’s voiceover at the beginning of #36: when every child opens their eyes to the world… they encounter a heart waiting for them…embracing, protecting, and nurturing. [We see Bahar with 2 red balloons.] A heart that creates a life and is reborn with that life. [We see Rengin with a red balloon. Clips of moms and babies.] Does this heart become a mother’s heart by bringing a child into the world, or by the effort spent stitch by stitch on that child?
Is motherhood an outfit worn in an instant? Or a story written line by line? [Lots of balloons floating in the sky.] I don’t know. Does every mother feel the same? [Leyla with a red balloon.] Is every foundation built healthy and strong? I don’t know. They say this is the strongest bond of life, shaping us, never fearing even if it thins…
Motherhood is often a colorful adventure, a unique love. [Gulcicek with a balloon.] But perhaps it’s mostly about fear. [We see sad Nevra outside the hospital.] And maybe the hardest part is at the moment you feel you can’t protect them, trying to suppress that deep ache inside. [Nevra watches a red balloon fly away.]
Confirming the reason why Rengin cut her hair and invited Parla to dinner: breaking up with Timur. Parla is angry about this. Just when she was starting a relationship with Timur. Parla runs out of the restaurant and calls Umay. Umay tells her there was a fight, but she didn’t know about a breakup. Parla shout at Umay. Umay calms her down and says they will solve this problem together. They can talk after school.
That psychic created a commotion in the ER. He told Bahar about not trusting Evren. He asked Doruk why he still kept the yellow dump truck from his father under his bed.
Ferdi tells Timur he should go see the special ER patient. When Timur shows up, the psychic asks Bahar, Daisy, is this the ex? Bahar tries to get Timur away. Timur is amused and asks for a reading even though he says this stuff is made up.
Psychic says, mothers give birth to such secrets. They say a secret gives birth to a secret. He starts calling out letters and cities in Türkiye. An “L” and “E” and I think he says “anne” – mother. Timur says Tolga should have been called to this case instead of him.
Timur questions Bahar about the psychic. He also tells her that he’s collecting his things from Rengin’s house. They broke up. She’s speechless. Aren’t you going to say something, he asks, like I deserved it? We’ve passed that, she replies, I don’t wish you any unhappiness. If you ever did, then you should be happy, he says, thank you. For what? He says, for managing to shame me more each time.
Not sure if the breakfast blow up with Efsun was shown. But Uras finally defended Seren and Bahar to Efsun. He did it very nicely. Afterwards he admitted to Seren it was a mistake to live there. Later, Seren and Uras come to the hospital. Seren has some minor contractions and Uras asks if they can come live with Bahar.
At the checkup, Rengin says Seren is 27 weeks along. She doesn’t like to see contractions at this stage. Stay away from stress, she advises, but I know that’s impossible in your family. Rengin and Bahar start to get into it over families. Rengin thinks Timur came running to her with the breakup news.
Bahar tells Uras that Timur and Rengin broke up. She makes him tell what Efsun said about her. Bahar wants to have a talk with Efsun.
Gulcicek tries to sneak out of the house to meet Reha for a coffee date. Leyla intercepts her as she’s leaving. She wants to go to the “market”, too. Gul can’t resist Leyla and says let’s go.
Alone in the house, Nevra has a panic attack over the secret coming out and possibly losing Timur. That’s when she gets a terrible pain in her stomach that sends her to her knees.
Bahar comes to Efsun. Efsun is ready for a fight. Bahar says she’s come to apologize. But she asks, why are you acting like a teenager instead of a mother? I don’t know whether to be angry or upset.
Gul meets Reha in the coffee shop. She tells him she managed to slip away from Leyla to see him but she must go back. He tells her at least he got to see her lovely face. Leyla enters the coffee shop. Gul stammers, Reha Bey is here by coincidence. Leyla figures it out. She says let’s all have a coffee.
Reha rushes off citing work. Leyla tells Gul she doesn’t have to lie at her age. Just say he’s your boyfriend. You found a delightful guy. What more do you want? It wasn’t meds that gave you hot flashes. He’s your medicine!
The ladies laugh then get serious. Gul says I raised a girl on my own. This isn’t America, people call you out here. But my heart flutters, I feel like I’m 20. Don’t tell Nevra. Leyla will never tell.
Gul takes the opportunity. She says while we are out, we could go to the hospital. You know you’re at risk. You must have surgery. The children still need you a lot. Let’s go together. Please say yes.
Bahar and Efsun. Efsun claims she only wanted the best for Seren. She accuses Bahar of spilling wine on her mother of the bride dress and setting her henna night dress on fire. A fake wedding officiant. This is all you can give my daughter. If this is motherhood… You are a woman who is proud of making sacrifices. I raised my daughter to be strong, to stand on her own two feet. You do everything halfway. Are you a role model for my daughter?
Bahar asks, why is this a motherhood competition? I’m astonished. You’re trying to pull me into a pit. Efsun notes, even your ex belittles you at every opportunity. Bahar stays calm. The reason I came was to talk about being a family and acting with a conscience. Efsun continues to mock Bahar.
Bahar wonders why Efsun is so fixated on her. And why does being good with children and having success in my profession scare you? I am not a threat. Bahar talks about what could be—a big happy family. [I don’t know why she wastes her breath on this narcissist.] No surprise, it doesn’t end well. Efsun tells Zeynep to return all Bahar’s family heirlooms.
Cem surprises Umay after school and she blows off meeting with Parla. Cem brings her to a theater, and he delivers a scene about himself. The orphan. He was lost. But he found himself. He was in trouble but got out of that, too. Now what? Love, of course. He looks directly at Umay. Not just ordinary love, his love. The happy ending of my entire story filled with pain. A happy ending. Umay jumps up on the stage and into Cem’s arms. I love you! I love you too!
Parla stops waiting for Umay.
Umay remembers Parla and leaves a message. Parla is at home packing a bag.
Parla writes a note to her mother: I don’t know exactly what to say. I’ve gotten used to being silent. Things that accumulated are stuck in my throat. You hid a life from me. You made decisions without asking me. I was shaped by your regrets, fears, and priorities. If you knew what it was like to grow up without a father, you wouldn’t take him away from me the moment I found him. Since I’m not in your life, let me go. I’m tired of not having a place in anyone’s life. The hardest part is waiting. Waiting for you to see me. Goodbye. Look on the bright side, I know how to live alone. You taught me. Thank you.
Timur comes to the house and Parla hides. He reads her letter. He calls her. Unavailable. He calls Umay—is Parla with you? Did she reply to your message? Timur sheds tears. He calls Rengin, she doesn’t answer. He calls Bahar—is Rengin with you? I have to ask her about Parla.
Parla comes out of her hiding place. He hangs up with Bahar.
Both Parla and Timur cry. She hugs him.
Leyla and Gulcicek visit the psychic in the hospital. I’m not sure what he told them. But they found the cause of his stomach trouble. He’s been pouring lead. It’s lead poisoning. [you can google that if you don’t know.]
Timur asks Parla if she was really going to leave. Do you really feel like you wrote in the letter? I didn’t want to be a burden, Parla replies. Everyone is thinking about their place, he says, I grew up lucky and I don’t even have the answers for myself. I’m more lost than ever. Because of your mother, she asks. Because of all the women who came into my life, he answers, except for you and Umay. He takes her hand—you are my daughter, okay? No decision, no truth can change this. He pulls her close—I love you, you are in my heart. Never forget this. Fathers never give up on their daughters. Timur takes her to Bahar’s house.
Tugra and Rengin’s dinner meeting. She mentions something about gaps in the hospital structure. She didn’t want to share that with the chief physician. She hasn’t been getting along with him lately. [it almost seems like Rengin is setting it up to become the chief physician.]
#36 ended with Efsun’s disgusting display and Seren going into labor.
Wow! Thanks so much, dondi. Telemundo is just unbelievable. I can't believe the gigantic cuts. From the previews I've seen, it looks like they're going to run another Turkish dizi when Bahar finishes. Why not just show us the whole content of Bahar and run the other one a couple of months later?
I'm right there with you about Efsun. It's interesting that, when she was first mentioned, it seemed like Seren had not seen her for a long time. Now, as was shown in dondi's recap of what we missed, she's like a teenager who can't stand it that the other kid has a new, flattering outfit. She's clearly been a lousy mother and it's eating her up that Seren dotes on Bahar.
Novelera – It’s wonderful to have you back! I had a roof put on this year and I was afraid they’d bump my satellite dish, which is screwed onto the fascia, but somehow they didn’t and I was able to watch my TNs through the whole process!
Dondi – All this information is gold. Wow, no fair that they’re cutting all that great stuff. I agree with novelera – why not just show us all of Bahar and start the next show when we’re done? I don’t get their reasoning at all. Do ratings drop as shows go on, and advertisers not want to pay as much? Thank you so very much for filling us in.
I felt like we got enough of the story tonight for it to make sense. Poor Bahar with her car breaking down. She hollers in case anyone can hear her. Later a shepherd comes along and gives her directions. Right behind him we see there’s a house behind the trees. Ha! Why didn’t she just go there?
I loved the innkeeper, so kind to Bahar. And when we saw the young pregnant woman it was obvious she’d go into labor and Bahar would have to help.
I don’t really understand Uras’s having such angry thoughts about his mother, much less putting them in writing. Seren is fine; both babies survived. What would he have done differently?
I didn’t catch all the contents of the letters that Tia Leyla wrote to Bahar and Timur. Lots of text that flew by! Did she say Timur should try to get Bahar back? Bahar has compassion for Timur, but there’s good-guy Evren, though he’s afraid of strong attachments. I wonder how that will shake out. Or we’ll never know because we won’t be able to see the final temporada.
Looks like Cem is getting it together.
Kat, I got a kick out of your saying your husband wasn't happy with your telenovela addiction. Now you're starting on learning Turkish which I think is awesome. He's going to have to start building a ship in a bottle or something because here you go with a new passion. It's wonderful how these TNs get shown in other countries and we find out about each other and get interested in each other's cultures and languages.
Well our TV provider is helping cure some of my addiction Univision and unimas were dropped. Of course I still have the free ViX and Telemundo apps to watch old shows, but that's not as fun as being on a patio discussion. And I've also discovered you tube shows the originals. Turkish is going to be a struggle as I have no prior knowledge of the sentence structure, etc. With Spanish I had 4 years of French under my belt from 40 plus years ago so it wasn't as much of a challenge. I'm refreshing my French now on Duolingo and early on it was a breeze, now I'm at level 60 it's a bit slower. It's funny, I mix up Spanish words for the French word whereas in college when I took French and my single quarter of Spanish (for fun) I had the opposite problem....
Maggie, I've been trying to find ratings for Bahar with no luck. If the ratings are sagging, the cuts are certainly sinking the show deeper. They cut some important and very dramatic scenes that IMHO could bring higher ratings.
Kat, I have YouTube TV and I can't believe they ditched Univision and Unimas. And they did this during Hispanic Heritage Month. They are offering a $6 credit if you are a Spanish base subcriber. What about the rest of us? I think they want people to subscribe to an add on. There's been criticism, even from certain politicians [*wink*]. Maybe it will return soon.
Dondi & Kat - wait, what? Univision has been dropped??? Dondi, do you mean it was dropped from YouTube TV too or just from the broadcast channels?
I can’t imagine what would happen here if they did that. Los Angeles county has about 10 million people and 48 percent of those are Hispanic.
Maggie
I recently finished the book Proto about the origin and spread of the Indo-European languages. Big recommend! Turkey was one of the origin points and now it’s a Turkish language country. Amazing.
Maggie
I also have YouTubeTV and have been happy with it up to now. I can’t believe how long this dispute has dragged on. It’s cut Spanish language programming by 3/4, leaving only Telemundo for all those who watch the Univision channels. I assume there is fault on both sides, leaving the public the victims.
I can pick up Hilos on Vix Premium. Perhaps regular Vix will also have some of the shows. It is very disruptive for all of us.
Now some of us are watching Bahar in Turkish on YouTube to fill in for what Telemundo does to us with massive cuts. We are lucky to have Dondi to ease the effect.
I wonder if Univision and Telemundo are coming apart. Otherwise, why insult and mistreat your fanbase? We viewers are finding alternatives. Maybe that’s the goal, to force us to pay more for these alternatives, which, of course, are owned by the same networks that are doing this. Grrrr!
Babachita
I googled. I had been thinking you were talking about the broadcast channel but now I see it’s a contract dispute. I have Direct TV so I was clueless about all this. I sure hope they get this resolved soon. A few times Direct TV has had similar disputes and it has happened with some that channel was off for a longish term. Others got resolved quickly.
Maggie
Well, kinda Bahar. Thanks for welcoming me back, Maggie. I've been on this site since it began and have even met another regular for lunch at the DeYoung Museum in San Francisco. Speaking of Hilos, the prior novela wtih the same plot was my very first: El Privilegio de Amar with Adela Noriega and Rene Strickler. I watched the first episode of Hilos, but I like new plots so didn't continue. I was trying to learn Spanish, and my wonderful co-worker from Mexico alerted me to a new one starting. For someone learning, trying to dive in at the middle of these plots is almost impossible.
I wonder if your reroof, Maggie, was mandated by a notice of cancellation by an insurance company if you didn't put a new one on? This was my situation. Insurance companies are trying to bail on Califas like crazy. My nephew lives in Florida and has the same problem. For them it's hurricanes.
I was surprised Bahar became so rattled about the young woman who went into labor. Are they trying to say that she believes what's said about her skills. Hopefully muscle memory will kick in soon and we know her bedside manner will do the trick.
Yes, I was very happy to see the new, improved Cem. I was pretty down on him around the time of the motorcycle crash. He's certainly handsome enough, and glib enough, to have an acting career.
The evil brother Tulga? seems to be plotting something. Whatever it is was probably cut. He was very smug in the back of that car talking to the guy who's in on the plan. Selling the hospital to a big conglomerate??
Yes, that was lovely that Bahar met a kind shepherd who directed her to a kindly woman who runs a boutique hotel. A mechanic showed up, turned over the keys, and said the car was fixed. No money seemed to change hands; I need to move to Turkey.
I'm so sorry for those of you who are losing Univision. You'd think it would be more likely to lose Telemundo, but it's been said here that it was contract dispute. I remember back in the day some people here had Uni, but Telemundo wasn't available in certain parts of the country.
I have even a worse feeling about Tugla
The plot was to have a bunch of people fired, some as collateral damage, so he could put his own accountant in place. I think he is going to rip off the foundation.
What was Cem showing Umay? Drawings he did or did he get some of her artwork printed? That may have been in the long version I watched.
OT
losing Univision wasn't the end of the world for me as I wasn't really vested in Hilos and Mirada had only just begun. I don't have ViX premium, I think maybe they are trying to get us to buy the premium package. I'm a tag along on my daughter's YouTube TV so I don't have any real leverage to protest. I guess I could complain to her and she will dump them and we'll be without any cable! We live pretty far from Greenville so we can't even get local stations without cable. In the winter when the leaves are off the tree we can pick up the signal of one station....
Novelera- my roof leaked! There I was in the middle of the night with my towels and buckets. I saved my flooring.
I have a metal roof so the insurance is happy. It doesn’t look like metal, it looks like dark tiles. It was supposed to be a lifetime roof but they don’t specify whose lifetime. The roof’s I guess - ha!
I replaced it with the same. It’s fire safe but since I’m surrounded by bushes and trees and I have wood siding there’s plenty to catch fire. Also my cousin who used to have a construction company told me metal roofs don’t burn but they melt! That’s not very comforting. Oh well if there’s another fire I will have evacuated anyway.
Maggie
Kat in SC, Maggie & Babachita: Interested to see how Cabo will keep upping the ante even further.
Maggie, look at my name and the clue is there.....South Carolina. I chose the name when I first started reading this blog and someone was so and so in MD or something like that. I thought it was the thing to do. I live 45 minutes from Greenville, 2 1/2 hours from Atlanta....I grew up in the country and hate cities, though I did go to GA Tech for 4 years ... That solidified my dislike of cities.
Maggie
Steve, I’ve got too much to watch already, and I prefer less violence. Getting in at the beginning should make it enjoyable for you.
Babachita
Seems like it’s just not a TN if we don’t have a car accident. Tonight there was one in Mirada too.
Rengin is so isolated now that Parla is staying with her dad.
That was a sweet talk between Dr. Tolga and Bahar. I approve of him for Cagla. Meantime his brother seems to be trying to lauder money through the hospital and is getting pressured by some baddie on the phone to speed it up.
It was odd to bring in a new future resident (I think actually two of them) so late in the show. There he is saving the day without any authorization to lay hands on a patient. Speaking of which, there’s Timur and Uras operating on Bahar. Here I think doctors aren’t allowed to treat family members.
The Uras actor is wonderful but heck, the whole cast is.
In the long version the new lady, Ara? and Duruk were conducting the interviews. I can't recall if it was just a montage of candidates with music or if dialogue was spoken, but it seems the lady (who is not a Dr to my knowledge) nixed all of them. Bahar is in its 3rd season in Turkey so bringing in new characters isn't far fetched. Also some of the current characters are leaving in the 3rd season. I'm vested enough in this that I'll watch ahead if they are available (they are on you tube without Spanish or CC's so it's worse than silent film mode for me). I researched the Turkish language for some help.as Duolingo gives you little guidance, this will be a really hard language to learn in my older age! Dondi, hats off to you for having a working knowledge of the language.
So is Timur still in Bahar's house or do he and Parla have their own place? Why is Efsun involved in telling the teen.girls what to do. So Parla is now an.adult which makes her 18, right. That seems to mean the affair happened before Umay's conception. I thought the 2 girls were the same age.
Evren disappointed me by taking a swing at the kids dad. He does deserve to be reprimanded, imo.
Kat, I have dabbled in Turkish a bit. I can’t give it the amount of attention needed to learn it, at least not now. But, I do recognize more words now than before. I think it’s valuable just listening to the phrasing, sounds, and pronunciation. There’s sort of a musical sound to a language, and I am enjoying listening to it even without understanding it. I’ve also become a fan of the actual music used in the dizis, and listen to it often even without knowing what’s being said.
If I do set about to actually learn it in the future, I assume hearing all this would help, giving me an ear for it.
If you’re watching in Turkish, you can get the main gist of the story. Best is you hear their voices!
Babachita
Maggie, amen on the necessity for car crashes and doctors saying Grave, muy grave. I wish I could remember things overnight! They used something similar to that word to describe Bahar's situation.
Kat, you were right about Tugla being in hot water and needing to somehow divert funds from the foundation in charge of the hospital. Sounds like gambling debts, maybe.
I think the woman who came in with weird, seemingly psychosomatic symptoms is Ahu. She was there to make the current residents look bad when they couldn't diagnose her. And she's the compinche of Evil Brother Tugla. How did two such different brothers grow up in the same household?
Seren forgave Aziz Uras, presumably after hearing Timur announce that he'd wadded up his son's complaint and doesn't know how it got retrieved. [Well, he does know but isn't outing Rengin in in front of the family.]
Evren wanted to operate on Bahar, but Timur pulled rank on him. I had the feeling it was because Timur thought he was too emotional rather than any residual worry about the hand tremor.
Timur is definitely more and more in the good guy column. I can't remember the exact words, but he and Bahar exchanged a look in her hospital room and said something about being close.
It's still kind of odd that Rengin, who has outright said she wants to ruin Timur, decided to put Bahar in the soup. Dr. Tolga is onto her. It was interesting watching him grill her and how defensive she became.
Kudos to you, Kat, for working on Turkish. I started with high school Latin, which I loved, and have moved steadily over the years through the romance languages: French, Italian, Portuguese, and, finally, Spanish because of working as an accountant in a construction company. Construction in California has enormous numbers of Spanish speaking workers. Portuguese was because of a Brazilian boyfriend. Italian was from a love of opera.
So many cuts. Too many cuts to detail. These were the most interesting scenes to me. There may be some overlap with what we saw.
After Timur confronted Nevra about his parentage, Nevra ran in a panic to Gulcicek. Timur is moving out of Rengin’s house! Parla is going with him! I’ll be homeless!!! Gul says she wouldn’t let that happen to another mother. She could stay with her. Nevra is immediately ready to pack her bags and move in. Gul immediately has regrets. Lol.
As we know, Timur’s world has been upended by Leyla’s revelation and illness. He takes off to the place we saw in the flashback when he was a child with Evren (Ali) and he was drawing. I think they also made paper planes and boats.
The writers have turned Uras into a raving maniac. He’s been doubting Bahar’s judgment and belittling her, but now he’s turned his ire towards Timur. Uras can’t find Timur and totally trashes him to Evren. I need my father and he’s not here for me… blah… blah… blah! Evren tells Uras where to find Timur.
Uras finds Timur at the lake. He goes BSC on him. He says Timur deserves all the pain he’s in. I needed you, you weren’t there for me! I looked everywhere. Did I ever have a father when I needed him? Timur fires back—I didn’t have a father either! I just found out the truth! Uras is stunned.
Seren begins to wonder where Uras is. She thinks he’s deliberately staying away from her. Bahar is forced to tell her it has nothing to do with her or the babies. It has to do with Timur. She tells her and Seren is shocked. She says this is like a movie.
Uras is sorry. He never would have imagined this. Timur says not even the devil would have thought of this. But you’re right, I could never be a father. I failed. Uras replies, you’re a complicated man. I have a lot of anger towards you. But I also have a lot of gratitude. Forget what I said. My anger is really towards myself. I’m scared.
Timur says don’t be so hard on yourself. You did your best. Uras thinks perhaps Timur did his best, but he could do better. I have a father, and I really need him, he says, my children need me. Timur replies, I haven’t left you, I’m just trying to pull myself together. Uras says Bahar is panicking. You’re not there. There’s no specialist available. Timur has confidence in Bahar and in Seren. He’s been in contact with Meral Hoca, too. Uras tells Timur, you are a strong man, dad. I love you very much. They hug. Timur replies, I don’t always say it well, but I love you very much, too.
Leyla gives Cagla some background about Tolga and his ex-wife. Tolga is a man who loves deeply. He even loved his crazy ex. Cagla doesn’t buy it, she says they always try to paint the woman as crazy. Leyla says that’s not so, this woman wasn’t like us. She was crazy. She was very jealous. And she was very beautiful. Tolga thought he could fix her. But he couldn’t. The woman started to let herself go. The beauty was gone. She ate herself up inside. Tolga stopped trying. It wasn’t working and he decided to get a divorce. Then there was an accident. He’s a good kid. He’s also a victim of love, like me.
Bahar tells Seren not to hold on to anger. It’s not worth it. Feelings come and go. Especially anger. Look at what happened a week ago—quarantine… my mother… Look how Timur lived without knowing his mother was his mother. Fear of losing his mother surpasses his desire to hold her accountable. Seren thinks Bahar is linking this to Efsun. She is.
Bahar says, she (Efsun) must have valid reasons she can’t control herself. The mistake is seeking her right in the wrong way. Okay, Seren replies, but do we have to understand everyone? It’s exhausting. Bahar says it’s easier this way. When you realize the anger isn’t about you…you see it differently. You see the fears. Clearly no one hugged your mother either. Look at it from here and your anger will fade. Do it for yourself.
Reha helps Nevra move into Gul’s house.
Seren asks Efsun about her relationship with her mother. I need to break this chain. Efsun asks, why, what chain? Seren answers, this inability to love. An inability to hug. Efsun says, I don’t think you have a problem hugging. You hug Bahar quite a bit. Seren replies, you are my mother. You are my trouble. I want to hug you. Come hug me, my troublemaker. They hug. [I wonder how long this will last.]
Tolga asks Cagla to come to his office. He has a little black box. He’s going to be totally honest. After what happened, his life was difficult for a long time. He had a series of flings. He takes a florist’s card out of the box. Cagla reads: Tolga you are very sweet, but your story is too heavy for me. May flowers be laid on your path.
Tolga says he was very transparent then, but it gave out a signal. He gives her another card: Meeting a man who lost his child while I want many children, can only be the work of a divine hand. Will you marry me? There’s more, he says, but I think you get the point. Cagla understands. He says we didn’t come to this state alone. I wish you didn’t judge me by the burdens of your past, Cagla replies. Tolga notes, sometimes a tailor can’t sew his own tear. When a person finds something that they’ve been seeking for a long time, they are afraid of making mistakes. Should we give this another chance?
This episode ended with both Leyla and Seren going into surgery.
I’ll try to get to #38 and maybe #39 tomorrow. I see the gran final is Friday, Oct 17. The new dizi is starting on Oct 20. I’m wondering where they will end this. The second season of Bahar ended in Turkey with #48. That might mean cuts will really become ridiculous.
Thanks again, dondi, for putting back the cuts. I especially enjoyed Bahar counseling Seren to think about no one hugging Efsun. I'm with you on still stiffening up every time she's on screen, but it's good for Seren to try to understand what may have gone on before she was born.
Evren asks Uras, Bahar and Doruk to assist in surgery. Evren asks Uras if the patient’s scan was reported in the system. Uras says there was no time for that, surgery was urgent. The patient has spleen injuries. Evren asks Uras, what should we do? Splenectomy. Evren asks, did we get consent? Well, Uras answers, the patient was unconscious. Did we get it from his relatives? Uras says, we couldn’t wait for the relatives. Evren states, then according to protocol, we can’t perform this surgery.
Evren manages to temporarily stop the bleeding and asks Uras, should we continue, or should we wait for the relatives? Bahar tries to step in. Evren shuts her down. I’m talking to my student. Uras says the patient will die, we must remove the spleen. Evren asks, are you saying we shouldn’t follow procedures? Uras says there’s no time.
Well, Evren continues, Bahar didn’t have as much time as you to decide about Seren and the babies. But she still made the right decision and saved everyone. You can leave now. You learned all you needed to learn. Uras makes a commotion in the prep room. Evren says he’s deducting points for insubordination. Bahar whispers, wasn’t that too much? This is my OR, Evren answers, it’s not personal. Just as you prepare them for life as a mother, I prepare their skills as a doctor.
Uras is waiting for Evren. Can we talk? Why did you do that? What a great show. You gave me a piece of your mind. Is the situation the same? That man had no one. Evren interrupts—you didn’t get it, Uras. I don’t think you will while you are so angry. Uras thinks Evren is angry over the way he treated Bahar. He tells Evren it’s none of his business.
Evren tells Uras to go cool of somewhere. You’re not aware of what you’re accusing your mother of. Uras takes that as an admission he’s right about Evren’s motives. Don’t come between my mother and me. Evren orders Uras to meet him in his office in 5 minutes. I’m telling you this as your teacher.
Uras comes to Evren. Evren gives no quarter. He doesn’t even let Uras sit. Why are you here? To train…. And I am here to train, as a teacher. Who is Bahar? Did she take responsibility for the surgery? She did. Who was in charge? Her teacher. Uras asks, are you saying you’d support another assistant if they made the same decision? You’d support someone who is not competent? Evren is offended. I’m not insulting anyone, Uras replies.
Evren asks, if I didn’t have a relationship with Bahar, would you have the audacity to speak to me like this? Let’s look at your recent cases. What skills have you demonstrated recently? Evren rakes him over the coals. He’s taken a lighter schedule. He’s only worked on C and D level surgeries. Will you pop pimples or become a surgeon? Uras says the attendings won’t allow him to perform A level surgeries.
Forget about performing, Evren responds, you haven’t even participated. You’ve been absent at scientific articles. When was the last time you read? Six months ago. Evren says if this continues, I’ll give you a negative annual evaluation. And I will be one of the jurors in your specialization exam. Be careful.
Uras asks, are you saying you’ve been favoring me so far? No, Evren says, I’ve been attentive. But I see my attention has led to insolence. From now on, it will be very professional. Concentrate on your work. Uras turns to go. Did I say you could leave, Evren admonishes. Do your job… now you can leave.
Gulcicek is excited to go visit the babies. Nevra is depressed and doesn’t want to go because of Timur. You have Reha, she says, I have no one. Gul talks her into it.
At the hospital nursery, Nevra sees a poster for childbirth - parenting prep training. [at least that’s what I could make out.] She’s excited. She can attend at the hospital and be close to Timur. She will see him more often. And if she could learn to take care of her grandchildren, Timur would love her more. She tries to talk Gul into taking the class too. You’ll get to see Reha more often. They register.
Uras is on a bench outside the hospital. Tolga joins him and brings him coffee. Uras is ready for the scolding. But Tolga says, I understand you. I’m aware of your fears. Uras wants Tolga to skip the niceties. Don’t say you understand. Just say what’s on your mind. There’s no one who could understand me right now.
Tolga says, then let me tell you something that no one knows. It has never been so meaningful to tell this. I had a daughter. Two years old… I lost her in a traffic accident. Every pain is unique, but I can understand you, Uras. The pain of losing a child is indescribable. No one knows. But mothers know. That’s what your mother was trying to protect you from. Do you understand? Don’t blame her.
Uras says, I didn’t realize what I was doing. This helplessness is destroying me. No one is hearing my voice. As if I were a child, I made everything more difficult. I shattered my mother. Tolga says, you’re just a scared husband and father. At the same time, you are a lucky child. You have a very compassionate and forgiving mother. You’ll find a way back into her heart and she’ll forgive you. Pull yourself together.
Efsun helps Seren in the bathtub. Seren is very worried about Bahar. Efsun says Bahar will be okay. She just needs some time alone. Efsun is actually very nice and tender with Seren. Seren can’t remember her mom ever doing this for her.
I bathed you when you were a baby, Efsun says, but then when I started working, the nanny would have it done by the time I got home. But if I knew this was so beautiful, I wouldn’t have left it for anyone else. I’ll say something if you don’t get mad. I was glad when Bahar disappeared. Because if she was here, you would have let her bathe you. Although I guess this isn’t much now.
I think you’re doing fine, Seren says. Mom, will I be able to wash my babies? You will, Efsun replies, you will. They will be fine, don’t worry. She kisses Seren’s head.
This episode ends with Bahar’s car accident. That last scene really had an impact. When Bahar crashed it showed all her loved ones as if they were in an accident. Everyone was tossed about, items flew all around, glass broke, all in slow motion.
Thanks so much. yes the accident impact on her loved ones was strange. I almost wondered if an earthquake occurred on top of the car wreck (shades of Velvet when it had the earthquake).
Efsun really is changing. I'll take the new and improved version.
i didn't realize what Evren was telling Uras. I knew he was kicked out of the OR and I thought he messed up on whatever Evren had asked him. Spleen will be a long time coming in my Turkish language vocabulary!
So Nevra and Gülçiçek both are taking parenting classes. I guess they weren't hands on parents and grands so for the great grands they are going to get it right.
I'm watching ahead so I have to keep my comments relevant to the current episode.
