Plot Synopsis
Carolina Robles needs to hide out because she is being hunted down for a fraud that her husband committed but she is conveniently being blamed for thanks to him. She takes her son and escapes by taking on her twin sister Celeste's identity as a nun. She flees to the remote village of Monteverde as the chaperone of a bus load of women looking to start new lives and revitalize the town since it has 100 men and zero women. Father Gabriel is in charge of the plan. Soon after Carolina arrives, as luck would have it, she meets Oscar León an embittered man whose wife abandoned him.

Africa Zavala in a habit along side Gabriel Soto as a mature but good-looking curmudgeon . . what is not to like? I am not recapping this one but will be on the patio commenting. It is supposed to be a dramedy so I am expecting/hoping for lots of laughs.

PAPAS # 9

Just a few notes from my viewpoint.

Serena and Chano react in shock and denial after their kiss…

Tino has a heart to heart with Emi. A flashback reveals that the doctor told Tino he could not donate blood for a transfusion for Emi’s operation as he was not his biological father. (I’d forgotten how he found out). Now having a definitive answer, Emi is understandably upset and then asks who his biological father is.

Clara Luz’s suspicions about Natalia being Pipe’s sister continue to grow. During (yet another) tea with Prizma, Clara Luz stares at Natalia’s toothbrush thoughts of DNA swirling in her head, taking it out of the holder. She later gives it to a disapproving Rudolf. They do the DNA test and it’s a match!! Later, Melina shows up and chats up Rudolf. Prizma bothers me…

“Checo-Cheks” and Circe text; looks like they may be back on.

Tino verbally goes after Iker (not quite following his anger); Aide seems to stand up for him. In tears, Iker huddles against his mother in bed. Hernan calls after him as he gets up and leaves. Melina tries to get Aide to tell her what’s going on; Aide tries to brush her off but Melina appeals to her as a mother. There are several other scenes (including Hernan) with Iker and Melina I couldn’t translate.

The bullied kid calls Serena “mama as she and Chano think of each other. Chuchito tries to bring his father out of his reverie 😊

Tino tells Scarlet, Circe and Uli he isn’t Emi’s bio father. Uli and Circe reassure Emi they are hermanos; Scarlet joins the circle. Emi tells Tino he is the best father in the world as everyone (including Aide) hug.

When Emi is bullied by two kids, Iker steps up and puts a stop to it. Emi smiles. The two later talk. Iker reinforces Tino is Emi’s father of the heart.

Bill (Emi’s bio father) arrives and joins Aide and Tino for dinner.

There is a joint birthday party for Pipe and Natalia at school. Clara Luz starts to talk to Prizma….

Now I’ve seen the episode and had fun reading your recap! It looks like Iker’s mom is going to be a baddie, plus they play ominous music when she’s on. But sweet kid Iker adores her. How can he if she’s evil?

I sure like the Iker actor. I predict a big future for him.

What fun! So, Padre Gabriel is providing jobs for all of the women to come to town in his Operation Genesis (what a name!!). Carolina was framed in a real estate scam by her hubby Carlos. She didn’t sign anything. He must have forged her signature. Susan, I know Marcelo Córdoba is one of your telenovios but I have to admit he is a perennial cutie. I want to know more about Oscar’s wife and child that she took with her when she left him 20 years ago. The son was just about Moisés’ age. What happened to him? Plenty of unlikely happenings but predictable outcomes ( like the bus being boobytrapped to never leave and Oscar getting to be a hero) which made this a very enjoyable watch. Looks like we are going to have several couples to follow and try to figure out the names for. I better get a more complete list going.

The drama is vamping up on this show! The episode flew by. Tamara tells Carolina that Christina is not leaving Carlos alone, which is not true. Carolina fires Christina, which causes all the drama. Carlos is furious with Tamara and Carolina. He is talking about quitting but Manuel wants him to calm down. Our good Father Salvador tells Carolina she has a heart of stone!

Meanwhile, neglected Manuel goes out with his former girlfriend. Omar confesses to his dad that he loves Romina, but his dad doesn’t believe in love.
Ramiro talks on the phone to Christina. That reminded me of a question I had, last week Ramiro was looking for an infant that I thought he said was born at the hospital or the orphanage. The Sister gave him Christine’s picture. But she was born out in the country somewhere, under a tree. So I must not have understood the conversation. Why didn’t she give Salvador that same information? He must have said something different about the birth of his daughter. So I’m confused. Does anyone watching this know what happened?

Thanks for the recap Diana. Iker is a nice kid. Tino still thinks he is the one sending Emi the texts on his parenthood. When he flashed back to hearing a noise outside their bedroom Iker was in the hallway with a phone. That made him think Iker had recorded the conversation he and Aide had. It does have to be someone in the house. Whoever is doing it is hurting Iker’s chances of forming any kind of bond with Tino. But it would have to be his mother or grandfather as I don’t think Emi’s siblings would do it.

I don’t trust Natalia’s parents. Not sure why, but I think they know about Pipe. Although they were upset about the two moms thing so I’m probably wrong.

Do Tino and Aide know who this Bill guy is? I thought they were meeting with someone over their business.

Good morning, Everyone!

I’ve been really busy with my animalitos, so haven’t had much time to participate on patios, but I do check in once in a while. I’ve already watched Monteverde and found it to be quite entertaining. I just want to clarify a couple of things. 1) Carolina did sign the documents; Carlos would just bring them to her and she would sign without reading anything. 2) Oscar’s wife didn’t take the child with her. Franco is Oscar’s son and he lives with Lucas who grew up very close to the family.
I’ll be checking when I can :-)

Jarifa, thank you. I recorded this first episode , and i am.looking forward to watching ...when I get a chance...life keeps happening ...always have to take care of something . I can't wait to see Marcelo ! Is he playing a good guy or a bad guy? I !oved him in Alborada as Luis's loyal friend \bodyguard. That show was my first telenovela , and it threw me down this rabbit hole 18 years ago. .

At this point, I only know who Oscar and Carolina are! Oh, and the wonderful Cynthia Klitbo as Gloria and Oscar Bonfiglio as Manuel. A few of the women are familiar...I will have to research the actors playing the various characters to see who they are so I can try and figure out who's who. A very large cast.

Is the young boy we saw Oscar's son? "Franco is Oscar's son" confused me a bit as the actor who plays Franco (Mario Moran) is in his thirties but if so, he's likely playing a character supposed to be in his twenties.

I'm way behind but this looks like fun!

Iker IS a sweetheart. Everyone seems to be against him. I hope he and Emi get to be friends.I find Iker to be a sweetheart! I like Emi too...

Emi's mother is pure evil and IF Melina is Iker's mother that would be unfortunate too! :( I fear Natalia also has a toxic mother.

I agree with you that the threatening texts are coming from Iker's "mother" or Tino's father.

Great point about the Aide/Tino/Bill meeting. I thought it strange that neither Aide nor Tino seemed on edge which I think they would be knowing who Bill really is. It will be interesting to see if Bill fesses up and tells them the true reason for the meeting. He seems like a good guy but time will tell.

Diana, the young boy that lives with Oscar is Moises; Oscar found him when he was barely a few days old so he adopted him. Franco is probably in his mid - late twenties.

PAPAS #10

Much was over my head and a Univision transmission problem at the end of the show didn't help! A few thoughts for what they’re worth.

We see alternating scenes of Bill meeting with Adriana to discuss Emi and then Bill meeting with Aide and Tino. Liz, you were exactly right in that Bill set up the meeting feigning interest in becoming a client of Maximax. They discuss family; at one point Bill shares his father is from Mexico, his mother is American.

Clara Luz presses Prisma regarding her relationship with Silvana. Clara Luz might have told her she knows Natalia isn’t her daughter? The discussion doesn’t go well and Prisma takes Natalia out of class much to Pipe’s consternation. Happy birthday Clara Luz smiles at Natalia as she is led out of the classroom.

Melina continues to pump Rudolf when Clara Luz calls him. Melina gets handsy with that fake smile of hers. She and Tino later talk about Maximax.

Bill calls Adriana and she answers with that annoying “hello stranger”. They discuss Tino not being Emi’s father and then Emi texts Adriana asking who his father is.

Tino searches Hernan and Iker’s room but Hernan surprises him. Tino found a phone under a mattress. It seems to implicate poor Iker further.

Circe seems to be becoming a famous influencer.

Clara Luz bangs on Prisma’s door but no one answers.

Chano tries to send Serena a text but keeps erasing them.

Hernan’s tormenter turns up at Tino’s much to Hernan’s consternation (I don’t know his name or what he “has” on Hernan). Aide shows up and asks who he is; he introduces himself but I’m unsure what story he tried to tell her.

Tino picks up Scarlet, Emi and Iker from school. He pulls Iker aside and shows him the phone. Iker can’t meet his father’s eyes and I’m totally confused, isn’t he innocent??… At the dinner table, Iker is absent. Circe natters on saying something about “story time”. Next Tino is berating Melina who insists Iker is his son.

Natalia isn’t in school the following day. Clara Luz and Rudolf show up at Prisa’s house again but no one answers. They peek in the windows and it seems the family has left.

Serena and Chano literally run into each other and neither can get a word out as they keep interrupting each other. They start kissing in the middle of the gym.

Aide, Tino, Clara Luz and Rudolf and the older gentlemen whose name I don’t know brainstorm. Hernan interrupts.

Just then, Univision’s signal was lost; everything went dark for about 8-9 minutes. There was no further transmission until we saw Bill at school where Aide’s face mirrors her surprise. Also, Tino and his father were in some kind of altercation; Hernan stepped in front of Tino and was shot!

Very entertaining. Since everyone is now staying, how long until Gloria returns? Will Rosalía find her father? Her comparing possibilities with Lucía was comical. Lucía a horse whisperer? Looks like her training skills have gotten her a job! As for the costillita supper, funny what a little mezcal, or a lot in the case of Angelina, can do.

Thanks Diana, I enjoyed your recap. I’m not sure what you might have missed. Tino’s dad offered to help him get some things for the “reception” the business was having. I’m not sure who’s supposed to be there. I’d guess potential investors. But they had just finished loading boxes in the trunk when the gunmen appeared. I was surprised Hernan jumped in front of Tino. My first thought was it was preplanned and they were using blanks! That’s how much I trust Hernan.

I think Clara Luz came on too strong to Prisa. And I hated her timing. She basically ruined the birthday party for Natalie. And Pepi too! So she scared them off.

I just realized last night that Melina was the evil woman in El Amor no Tiene Receta. I hope she doesn’t reach that level of evilness again!

When Tino told Iker he found the phone and accused him again, Iker really did look guilty. But I think he kind of said “you won’t believe me anyway” when Tino asked what he had to say. Did they ever do a dna test? But those usually end up “fixed” by someone.

I’m not sure Rudolf and Clara Luz would have legal rights to Natalie’s as the parents probably adopted Natalie from Silvia, or whatever her name is. I guess they could say she basically stole their eggs and sperm, but they better get a good lawyer.

Oh, I don't trust Hernan at all either!!! Given the scenario you described, I feel the same way you do. Hernan sacrificing him seems far fetched. I fear he is an evil man.

Excellent point about Clara Luz' timing and yes, she was too strong.

Altair Jarabo is an excellent actress. She does evil so well. I love the look she is giving Aide in the promos, a triumphant, sly look. It's her specialty :)

I watched last night’s episode this morning.

A few comments/thoughts that may or may not be accurate! I don’t have all the characters and/or potential couple’s names figured out yet.

The bus’s damage is extensive I believe.

“Sister Celeste” is going to tutor Moises. Moises does not take this well and locks himself in the closet! Oscar brings him dinner but the lad is gone! It’s the old pillows under the bedsheet trick! 😊

Lucia made fast friends with a beautiful white horse with brown spots. Franco was impressed!

I didn’t understand Rosalie’s conversation with Lucia, thank you Jarifa for noting she is looking for her father.

Oscar the grouch had his perpetual scowl. He did relent and went after Carolina to return the rosaries she left in his car and put her bike in the car to take her back.

Moises taught Andres how to skip stones.

Gloria argues with her daughter and in a snit, descends with her suitcase (eye roll from Carolina). I’m surprised she left her daughter there. Angelina and Juan David are enchanted with each other.

Looks like Arturo Carmona playing Nestor is a bad guy.

A staple telenovela thunderstorm. The women are dining and drinking. Things are getting rowdy and looking like a whole lot of fun! Nestor shows up to welcome everyone to the pueblo. Rosalie introduces herself (is she a doctor?) She looks after him but not in a romantic, interested way.

Oscar seeks reinforcements to find his son. Moises knocks on Andres’ window. He hides under the bed when Carolina comes in. When she takes some things of Andres’ downstairs, a picture falls to the floor. It is her with her not yet ex! She calls her son for dinner when an angry Oscar barges in! He picks up the picture and demands she explain! Carolina is impactada!

Last night was very sad. Manuel is finally fed up with Carolina. I’m still interested to see if Lorena ever gets a chance. His ex is playing it skillfully, so I doubt it.

Tamara continues her crazy antics. I wonder if she will hurt someone.

But the car accident was saddest of all. I had really come to like Omar. I wonder why they kept showing him in the morgue? Might he return to life somehow??? It seemed a little creepy.

Ramiro is finally showing emotion. Carolina is furious about attending the funeral. She is rude (what else?)

I’m glad we learned Omar really loved Romina before he died. I would have been mad if we never knew if he loved her or was using her for his dad. Who has a terrible view of love.

Why would Ramiro be so mad at Carolina and her family. Omar was driving the car. I know they were speeding and they were speeding before they noticed the car behind them. Then they went faster and those guys were the thugs that were after Ramiro. I imagine they were going to hurt Omar again.

Carolina does not come across as a nice person. I think Manuel will have a fling with the friend from his past. I think he views Lorena the same as Christina and Marisol. Pretty young girls his daughter’s age. Lorena just really went after him but I don’t think he thought of her that way. I wonder why she’s so interested in Ricardo now.

I couldn’t figure out if Tamara was faking her fainting or not. But Carlos has been away from her home a long time so she’ll be furious again. I doubt he’ll ever for give her for getting Christina fired.

All of Tino's possible offspring is getting confusing . Could we review ? Where did he meet and impregnate Melina ? Is he not convinced that Iker is his son?hi feel sorry for Iker . He seems sincere . Are Circe and Ulysses Tino's biological children ? I can't remember where who was determined to be the father at the end of first season . Susan

Circe and Uli are Aide’s kids. I think the dad turned out to be the bad guy that was her good friend at the office. Although it seems like the yoga guy did try to claim them. Scarlett is their half sibling. Her dad was that guy who was always posting videos of himself.

Emi and Lila(who had moved out and is angry at them)are Tino’s. Melina was either a waitress or bartender. It was a one night stand and she says Íker is Tino’s. I don’t think he did a DNA test. He was not married so he must be younger than Emi or older than Lila. I’m not sure if that’s her name. But she’s out on her own so must be closer to Circe’s age. I don’t think Tino ever cheated on his wife so I think he’s younger than Emi. But I’m not sure they ever said when it happened. They did have a flashback to that night. This sounds more confusing than I meant it to be!

A few brief speculative notes after tuning in late.

Chano and Checo verbally spar as usual, Checo rather smilingly amused; Chano, not so much.

Rudolf, Aide and Clara Luz orchestrate a seemingly successful Maximax presentation. Circe, Uli, Scarlet, Alexander and Emi are introduced. Bill, seated in the front row, stares and gets emotional. He later shakes Aide’s hand as she looks at him thoughtfully. I don’t believe Iker was there but home with Melina. Later, Bill calls Adriana to discuss Emi.

Hernan didn’t die but is in a hospital bed, arm in a sling, with a seemingly emotional Tino by his side. I think Tino mentions the phone but Hernan feigns pain…Aide, Uli and Iker visit. Iker and his grandfather have a moment. Hernan’s tormenter shows up at the hospital to rough him up and threaten…

Clara Luz and Rudolf are relaxing with a drink when the doorbell rings. It’s Natalia along with Prisma and Nazario. The adults sit down looking grim. There is a flashback of Nazario talking with Silvana, he advances toward her menacingly. Their story is revealed (some discussion about Pipe) but it was beyond me. The adults compose themselves once the children return.

Sweet Chuchito and Chano are together, the former whining adorably as Serena texts him. Chano and Circe text as well. Valerio video calls Circe, referring to her as “pancake”. Enough reason for her to dump him I sniff. A sober Tino and Aide talk…Checo and Circe later meet. All of a sudden Valerio walks up to Circe’s great consternation. She awkwardly introduces them saying Checo is her friend and Valerio her novio! Checo seems to be amused. At least for the moment.

Iker and Melina (sporting less medical equipment) meet with Tino; Serena is there and I’m lost. Bill and Tino stroll…

Serena and Chano kiss at work!!

Clara Luz and Rudolf meet with a social worker or perhaps lawyer. She says the situation is complicated.

Bill, Tino and Aide meet; I gather they have some reservations about Bill. They confront him and Bill finally tells Tino and Aide Emi is his son…

Liz, thanks for filling in. I forgot that Uli and Circe aren't Tino's bio children. I do however believe it's been proven Emi is not Tino's and that there seems to be a good possibility Bill is the father.

I have a sinking feeling Iker isn't Tino's either (speculation only). If that is true, his only bio children are Lila and Alexander. Is that right? :)

MONTEVERDE #3 Part 1

Sister Celeste tells Oscar the picture is of an “ex novio” and fiercely grabs it back from him.

The women thank Manuel as Angelina, high as a kite, gets on the table with a toast when mama Gloria returns, wet and angry. She grabs her daughter and pulls her away from Juan David. The party’s definitely over!

Andres has just reassured Oscar he doesn’t know where Moises is when there is a noise upstairs. They all run upstairs and an angry Oscar berates his son and takes him away. Oscar runs into the women descending the stairs.

Celeste asks Andres what happened. She brings out the photo and softens her tone toward her son who misses his father. She doesn’t give him the picture back and he asks to be left alone.

Oscar runs into the search party and yells at Moises as they and Franco get in the car.

Celeste is surprised Gloria has returned. Lucia arrives at the stables and tells a rather displeased Lucas she is going to ride the horse. Franco arrives and Lucia apprises him there is a problem.

The next morning Angelina has a headache as everyone drinks juice getting ready for the day. Celeste seems to have an assignment chart for the women. The good father and a hungover Juan David converse…

Oscar lectures Moises (yet again). Juanita sees the picture of Celeste and hub and asks her about it.

I thought Celeste was going to tutor Moises but a bespeckled man arrives to begin his duties. Moises immediately gives him a hard time, deliberately mispronouncing the alphabet singing “blah, blah, blah”, I had to smile. He keeps trying but Moises put his head on the table. Moises then proceeds to dump some sort of powder down the back of his neck. He is itching himself crazy and driven to the brink, grabs his bag and leaves. Moises waves a slight smile playing on his lips.

Juanita and Hugo talk. Andres teases him about liking his tia. They play a bit of soccer and he takes his aunt’s phone. Hugo slyly asks if she has a novio. They take off on a bike riding adventure.

Oscar and Nestor confront Franco. He is furious Lucia is riding the horse and puts a quick end to it. Lucia is displeased and lets Franco know it in no uncertain terms. Angelina and Juan David almost kiss. Later, they have a moment.

Oh no! Andres calls his father who answers thinking it’s Juanita. When Andres answers, Carlos naturally asks where he is. Fortunately, the call ends before he can answer. Carlos is livid…

Celeste arrives and with Moises’ help, sits at Oscar’s computer. She checks her email and gets what I think is an angry email from Carlos. Outside, Oscar and Nestor beyotch about the women when he is told the professor took a powder. Oscar arrives home yelling for Moises. He enters his office and finds Celeste in his chair facing the wall. He continues to scream for his son. She gives him some story about communicating with the mother superior. Oscar and Moises end up at the women’s residence and talk with “Mama” Celeste. Moises, the cunning little manipulator has convinced his father to ask Celeste to tutor him!!

I watched the few minutes I missed.

The big reveal is that Hernan’s tormenter is a policeman! He engineered an “accident” involving the man who works for Aide and Tino (sorry I don’t know his name) hitting a motorcyclist.

We see Hernan’s shooting replayed.

Bill arrives at Aide’s he seems to think Iker is Emi; Aide sets him straight.

I’m enjoying this tale! It makes me laugh, and watching actors who are normally playing serious (or seriously bad) playing humorous roles here is lots of fun. They must be having fun!

I wonder if the dad can trace his son’s location from that short call.

Oscar really hates women, but I think he’s met his match. Watching the couples find each other is fun. Very diverse group but lots of instant attraction.

Klitbo is fun to see. She is so talented! The kids are great!!!

My provider doesn’t carry Univision right now, but I am watching on YouTube. I don’t always have time to keep up daily, but I catch up eventually.

Sorry I forgot to mention that Emi isn’t Tino’s son, but the mom had already told Bill he was the dad. I think Bill is probably the real dad. Something he said about Emi’s condition. It sounded like someone else in his family had the same thing so he’s sure Emi is his. Anyway Tino has one biological child, and she’s mad at him or the whole family. Diana, I thought Guzman was their dad but I’m sure you’re right. Guzman just knew the truth because he was hovering on the stairway. And Damaso had a twin sister! Twins can run in families.

At the beginning of the show they had a scene from a day or so earlier. Hernan was telling the bad guys that Tino was going to throw him out. They cooked up this plan where they would shoot him so he could stay with Tino. It worked as all three will now remain!

I didn’t understand much when Prisma and Nazario were talking to Clara Luz and Rudolf. I was so busy wondering if they just showed up unknown or if Clara Luz and Rudolf knew they were coming. But apparently they were supposed to get both kids and for some reason Silvana withheld Pipe from them, or took him back. I think they want Pipe, but not sure, Ib’m leaning towards them wanting him. I couldn’t tell if the lawyer was telling them it would be complicated to keep Pipe or to get Natalia. So I’m not much help.

Interesting that Facundo (Lambda Garcia), Scarlet's father, is featured toward the end of the opening credits. I surmise he will make a reappearance although his name doesn't appear in the Wiki cast listing.

Carolina is coming apart rapidly. Why can’t she tell the story to Manuel? She’s losing her grip on him and has already lost Carlos.

She really distrusts other women, especially the “type” she sees as gold-diggers. She is full of hate, but most is self-hate. I think the actress is very gifted in a complicated role.

And Tamara! No baby now, so there goes the DNA test I’ve been hoping for. Her mother is nuts. Why is this relationship so important to her? I guess Carlos means big bucks. Can Carlos divorce her? Or will she get him charged with attempted murder?

Ramiro is suffering. Can’t say I have any sympathy. I don’t know if he’s seeking Cristina to wreak vengeance or just to make the match. Is it to hurt Carolina or is Cristina now in danger?

I do not think that I will ever be able to keep all of these characters straight. There are so many faces I do not know.

Yes, Oscar is a real pill. He is getting annoying and it is only Capítulo 3.

Cute scenes:
Celeste explains that the photo of her and her novio was from when she was young. A sarcastic disbelieving Oscar says she looks the same.

Juan David tells Padre Gabriel that he thinks he has no future with Angelina because he has never kissed a girl before. The good priest gives him a movie to watch that supposedly has the best kisses ever. It is an old black and white "classic" supposedly. Juan David is eager to learn and watches the video carefully. He is willing to give kissing a try but alas!! there are too many interruptions.

Gloria appears looking like a drowned rat with a tale explaining why she has returned. She talks about the car being stopped by a fallen tree in the road and then a group of men appearing out of nowhere who attacked them and took the car. She was left in the middle of nowhere. One of the women asks why they didn't take her suitcase. . All Gloria can come up with is because she asked them not to? . . . . Anyway, she had to walk all of the way back in a downpour and her feet hurt . . .


The e-mail
Yes, Carolina/Celeste has gotten an email from her hubby Carlos. He has tried calling her many times but the calls won't go through. It is as if the earth swallowed her up. He knows he made a mistake and they need to talk so they can leave Mexico. He misses them both. She answers him saying that he knows no shame. She thought that he had fixed things. How dare he suggest that they leave the country! She is no criminal. She hates him. He is the worst thing that has ever happened to her. He will never find out where they are.

All I can say is sure . . .

I would have been surprised if sourpuss Oscar believed Celeste's story but she did think on her feet. I can't think of any other explanation she could have given him other than say she has a single twin sister. But then he'd have wondered why she was carrying around the picture.

Gloria did look like a drowned rat! Her story had as many holes as swiss cheese IMHO LOL...

Celeste should know better than to taunt her husband who is a criminal and capable of heaven knows what! Shall we place bets on how fast he finds her??
