Caray, Caray!

PAPAS #12 Part 1

Not sure if I got much of anything right, but here are some notes of what I think transpired tonight.

We see a series of family pictures being picked up, one by one and smashed to smithereens; the perpetrator wearing a black glove.

Emiliano is my hjio Bill tells Tino and Aide. Tino seems thunderstruck. I believe they discussed Emi’s medical issues. Tino seems wary; I think Tino is asking for proof Bill is his father, not sure. Iker wheels Emi in…

Rudolf and Clara Luz try and rationalize what Silvana’s reason/motivation might have been regarding Pipe and Natalia.

We rejoin the awkward trio of Circe, Checo and Valerio who is kissing Circe’s hand. Checo is my friend of many years she tells Valerio. Checo sort of smirks and obviously uncomfortable, skedaddles as soon as possible.

Iker walks in on Scarlet who apparently is a wannabe influencer. Emi comes in looking like the lost soul he is. The three discuss family dynamics (ahhh, the little dog is back dressed in an adorable plaid coat). Scarlet leaves in a snit but I’m happy to say the boys seem to be bonding.

Valerio and Circe are in a restaurant and Valerio is cupping her chin in his hand, he kisses her and gets up. She takes advantage to text Checo who arrives home and deletes her message, unread. Later, Valerio and Circe argue, he wants her to go somewhere but she demurs and he tells her “you’re not sixteen”. Oh noes, he calls her “pancake” again. Blech. Circe sends another apology text to Checo. She is shopping for a gown and finally talks to Checo but they end up arguing and he hangs up on her.

Emi comes in and recognizes Bill from the Maximax presentation. Bill gets up and takes his leave but makes it a point to say adios to Emi as Tino gives him hard eyes. Aide looks shaken after everyone leaves. Tino visits Hernan in the hospital, Hernan, immediately sensing something is wrong asks Tino if he is all right. Tino denies it but Hernan knows better. Hernan gets threatening texts.

Checo and Serena talk about their growing attraction. Later, they are clowning around, dancing a bit when Chofis and Chuchito arrives.

PAPAS #12 Part 2

Aide and Emi are in the garden. She takes his hand telling him she is her child forever. He then brings up his bio father (again).

Bill reflects back to Adriana telling him about Emiliano and then seeing him at the presentation. He calls Adriana, does he say he is going to try and get custody? Tino and Aide have words; I believe some of it involves Tino supporting Lila financially. She tells him Emi keeps asking about his biological father. Tino can’t handle it and leaves.

Circe is in a hot pink dress as Valerio moves in to kiss her. She sort of rejects him saying she’s late and he says it’s fine. She come home to an angry Aide; Tino backs her up. She says she was with Valerio and models the dress to her unappreciative parents.

Bill drops in and Aide is there. He gives a bit of his personal history; I think he said his wife died. Aide prompts him to talk about Emi and I think he says Emi has a hereditary medical condition. All of a sudden Emi comes in. They leave as we see Melina lurking on the stairs.

Serena’s son does not take the news of her romance well and she hugs him. More stoopid texts from Valerio to Circe.

Bad cop texts Scarlet pretending to be an admirer. She smiles, shrugs it off.

There was a very brief scene with Prisma and Nazario; he seemed to lose his temper.

I looked away for a minute but was Clara Luz and Rudolf's house burning??

Aide leaves Emi alone with Bill. Melina tells Tino, Iker and a newly returned Hernan Aide is with Bill. Tino is angry with Aide and cuts her off as she tries to explain.

MONTEVERDE #4

Way too fast and furious for me tonight. Here are a few highlights; I guessed on most.

At first, Carolina rejects Oscar’s request to tutor Moises, but the sweet boy changes her mind. She has one request that Oscar agrees to and the deal is finally sealed.

Rosalia speaks with Nestor and seems to find out something about her father.

Manuel presents Gloria with a lovely bouquet of flowers, romance on his mind. Gloria does not seem totally unimpressed.

Hugo and Andres get back from their bike ride and Hugo presses Andres to admit Juanita doesn’t have a novio, which he does. But Juanita appears and is upset, calling Andres in the house and sniping at Hugo. In the bedroom, she is upset that Andres took her phone and called his father. Carolina comes in and Andres admits what he did. He apologizes and after talking a bit, he tells her she is the best mother in the world.

Franco seems to apologize to Lucia for his father’s reaction to her riding the horse. Over coffee, she talks about how she ended up there. In a flashback we see Lucia in full wedding regalia, with her father in a limo, arriving at her wedding. Her distraught mother comes over to the car; apparently Rodrigo, the groom, is a no show. Lucia tries to call him but to no avail. We then see her alone in the car, driving as she cries her eyes out. She throws her veil out the window and rips her hair ornament from her head tossing it on the passenger seat. She alights from the car (the grill festooned with flowers) and stands in front of it. I believe she removes her ring as she flags down a bus. Seeing the driver, we realize it is the one bound for Genesis. Are you all right asks the driver sympathetically? Hence the burning of the wedding dress in the previous episode is explained. Franco looks touched and holds her hands saying what an imbecile the ex-groom was. She smiles and thanks him.

Juan David and Angelina work across the room from each other. He says good morning to Gloria who barely acknowledges him, asking him to leave. She presses her daughter saying she has someone else in mind. Later, she and Angelina are served a nice lunch by Manuel. He sits down, eyes riveted on Gloria. Angelina finally stalks off. Unless I got this totally wrong, it finally dawns on me that Gloria wants Angelina to get together with Manuel!!!

Franco and Llucia talk. I think he wants her to come to his house but she refuses, mentioning his father. He takes her bike out of his truck as she thanks him for the cappuccino. She kisses him on the cheek.

Lucia tells Rosalina about her kawfee talk with Franco.

Juan David and Angelina are kissing when Carolina and the padre arrive. Angelina tells Juan David what happened and he comments Manual is old enough to be her abuelo. I believe Manuel is going to help Juan David in his quest to win Angelina.

Lucia and Rosalina are doing some detective work at someone’s house but I’m not quite sure which house. Anywho, Rosalina grabs several toothbrushes as they rush out. They run into Lucas and Franco on the road and the men invite them over for pizza. Lucas asks Franco if he likes Lucia. Later, the girls arrive with dessert and the four toast.

Oscar and Moises share a hug in bed. For once, Oscar isn’t scowling.

Carolina and Andres arrive at Oscar’s. Carolina takes roll call (cute) and starts with the alphabet and a few questions. Moises nails it.

Nestor arrives at Oscar’s restaurant and gets a to go order. Hugo is delighted when Angelina arrives, however, to his dismay (and ours) she waltzes off with Nestor!

Rosalina asks the padre about a picture on the wall. He starts reminiscing about the seminary as Rosalina’s eyes grow as wide and round as saucers.

Thanks Diana, I enjoyed reading the recap of last night’s events!

The burning house belongs to Natalie’s family. I need to write these names down as they appear! Clara Luz and Rudolf were, at one point, discussing wanting Pipe and that them wanting Natalie is basically the same thing, taking a child from the parents that raised them. I don’t know how this will turn out.

Bill told Tino and Aide that Juan(the man that was married to Tino’s ex)told him about Emi. He never mentioned Tino’s ex. He did tell the ex he wanted to get custody of Emi. I’m not sure if he knows there’s a lot of money involved for Emi and his dad. Bill also said his brother had the same disease but died when he was Emi’s age because of the tumors. The treatment in the US took care of the tumors. But since he lied about who told him about Emi I’m not sure about him.

I thought it was funny that Scarlet was taking after her dad and be coming an influencer.

I wonder if Circe bought the dress or borrones it from work. It looked like an expensive dress shop!

That fire came out of nowhere didn't it.

I did hear Bill talk about his brother, thank you for noting that. He should have told them he found out about Emi from Adriana, that was a vital piece of informatoin and agree that the omission is troubling. I'm not defending him but he probably surmised mentioning her name would not put him in good stead. Tino is having a very hard time grappling with the situation as it is.

Thanks, Diana, for keeping coverage of this novela going along with Papás! I don't know how you do it.

I had some extra time this afternoon. There was a lot going on last night.

The condition is that Oscar allow Andrés be schooled along with Moisés.

Rosalía finds out Néstor and Oscar used to sell horses out in Aguascalientes 25 years ago. Maybe on of them is her father. She needs to find a way to get DNA samples.

Manuel has a job offer for Gloria: running his store. She is not interested but might be interested in the wealth he has accumulated and is willing to share with the right woman.

Juanita is upset that Hugo just took Andrés out on the bike without getting her permission first and more upset about the phone call he helped him make. Carolina tells him how his father was selling apartments that didn't exist and stole a lot of money. He named her as the owner of the company and now the police want to arrest her.

Yes, Gloria has Manuel in mind for Angelina. Yuck! Gloria sees Juan David as not being up to what Angelina deserves. And by the way, Manuel can support BOTH of them. Angelina tells her to marry him herself. When Manuel comes to join them and Gloria turns the conversation to her daughter getting married, Angelina loses her appetite and leaves.

Lucía and Rosalina go off so Lucía can call her father on Rosalina's cell phone.

Angelina tells Juan David she is going to do what she wants and not what her mother wants. She is so disappointed in her mother and feels all alone. He is just about to express his feeling for her when Carolina and the Padre Gabriel arrive. He acknowledges that he ruined it again for Juan David.

Lucía calls home and gets her mother. She wants her to come home but Lucía needs time away to forget Rodrigo.

Rosalina notices that Oscar's truck is gone. It is the perfect time to retrieve toothbrush for the DNA sample.

Juan David tells Manuela about Gloria's plan. Manuel says he is too old for Angelina. Manuel tells Juan David to trust him and he will take care of Gloria.

Oscar asks Moisés if he knows anything about his missing toothbrushes. No.

Juanita needs a lift to town to get money put on Carolina's cellphone.

Rosalía has gone to see Padre Gabriel to send the DNA test to the lab. He handles the mail in town.She notices a painting of the Virgin La Macarena the patron saint of bullfighters.When he was young he was a "novillero" (bullfighter in training.) He talks about his big chance finally coming up in Aguascalientes He performed the best he ever did in the ring and there he found love!! Rosalía lights up ready to hear more.

I feel so sad for Iker, however, it looks like he and Emi are bonding .
I hope that Jim is a good guy and will help Emi.
Valero is creepy and annoying . He thinks that he is socool.because be can throw some English words at Circe. Can't wait to see what happens tonight. Susan

Tamara inherited her crazy from her mother, who seems a little crazy herself. Poor Carlos, will he ever be able to leave Tamara? And Carolina has more or less promised Tamara that Carlos won’t leave her. I’m hoping someone besides Tamara’s mother will overhear him claiming he’s the father.

I feel a little sorry for Carolina. Especially since Ramiro didn’t tell the whole truth. She really has no one now. Romina is not being fair to her either. I’ll be glad when they all learn the full story. And I hope Ramiro doesn’t have awful plans for Christina, but why would he want to meet with her when he’s not going to let mother and daughter meet.

Rosalina is desperate to find her father. Nestor seems too young to be her father but if I were a betting woman, my money would be on Oscar! I doubt it's the padre, but you never know!:) I couldn't figure out the conversation with the good father, so thank you for explaining.

I laughed at "Angelina tells her to marry him herself". You go girl!

Susan, I am so relieved Iker and Emi are bonding. I was really worried for a while. They are both such nice young men!

Fingers crossed Bill is a good man. The signs point to yes but we will have to see what happens.

PAPAS #13 Part 1

We see a doorbell being rung. “Tu?” What are you doing here Aide asks as she opens the door…

Earlier, we saw Tino and Aide having another argument; Emi and his newly found biological father being the focal point. “Tino!” Aide calls out as Tino walks away. Iker catches his mother listening behind the couch. Meanwhile Bill and Emi are having a nice conversation; that is until Tino walks in, clearly upset. Emi asks “papa, is there a problem?” Tino says no but his words don’t reach his sour face. Bill says Emi is extraordinary and shakes his hand before he leaves. Aide and Tino stare at each other. Emi, sensing Tino’s bad mood, leaves. “Are you happy now?” Tino asks a confused and hurt Aide.

Clara Luz, Rudolf and Pipe watch hopelessly and sympathetically as Prisma and family’s house burns; firefighters try and control the blaze. They are later given oxygen by the paramedics as Clara Luz and Rudolf tell a crying Natalia and her parents (sitting in the ambulance) how sorry they are.

I’ll mention Melina talks with Iker as it may be important; I couldn’t follow.

Why did they shorten the opening credits? I love the theme song.

Tino continues to take his frustrations out on Aide, clearly threatened by Bill. As Tino clutches a picture of his mother, Hernan appears and asks if everything is all right. Hernan seems to convey regret about what transpired between him and Tino’s mother.

Clara Luz and Rudolf continue to support Prizma and Nazario. They are with them at police headquarters, giving a statement. Later, they ask Natalia and her family to stay with them! Nazario says no at first but then gives in. (I hesitate to say this but does anyone else wonder if the fire may not have been accidental??)

Aide’s mother calls and she ignores it. As she wipes tears from her eyes, Melina comes in and questions her…she feigns feeling faint. What a sympathy hog.

Oh noes, Valerio shows up and kisses Circe. El Chacal watches from across the street and mutters “maldito” to himself.

Cute bonding moment between Tino and Iker, the two hug as Hernan smiles approval. Tino records a video mentioning his children.

PAPAS #13 Part 2

Paulina is on the phone, leaving a message for Bill.

Uh oh, we see who was at the door as we began. It is Gisela, Aide’s mother! Aide does not look delighted…Gisela greets the family at dinner. She isn’t exactly warmly embraced. She throws everyone kisses. I have to say that Tino was very nice and welcoming. She is introduced to Hernan she immediately expresses her sympathy for death of his wife. She next meets Emi. She talks nonstop as everyone stares but I find her fun (she’s Erika Buenfil for heaven’s sake!) 😊 I gather she’s been relatively absent from Aide and her children’s lives. Aide does say she is her only child. Gisela wears an “interesting” fringe skirt I notice as I smile.

Emi and Tino have a bedtime chat.

Everyone seems to be settling in at Rudolf and Clara Luz’s. They discuss Silvana…as do Clara Luz and Rudolf when they’re alone.

Gisela is having trouble in the kitchen when Hernan comes to the rescue and turns on the charm (such as it is or isn’t).

Tino looks at the computer – was it something on Bill? It was too quick for me to see but whatever it was seemed to affect him.

Aide complains to Tino about her mother being there.

Tino takes the kids to school and give Iker a special good luck talk. Scarlet and Iker put their arms around each other and then walk into the building leaving sweet Emi on the sidewalk. Tino encourages him.

El Chacal texts Hernan. Again.

Checo and Serena are at work and after a look around, kiss. “Chano” she says breaking away. She asks him about his ex (in a previous scene I think Chano and the kids were watching videos of Lichita).

Poncho and Chofis talk and I believe he tells her their parents are together.

El Chacal shows up at Hernan’s; he picks up his phone and makes a call, following the ringing he walks down the hall into Melina’s room! She stares at him and unless I’m wrong, doesn’t appear they are strangers.

Tino and Bill meet but their conversation was above me.

A lot of scenes and conversations tonight. I did the best I could and left placeholders for things I missed.

MONTEVERDE #5 Part 1

Juan David and Angelina discuss Manuel…Said Manuel brings Gloria a flower…He wants her to manage his store. He makes it short and sweet and then leaves as she Mona Lisa smiles with sparkling eyes.

Moises’ lessons continue as a smiling Oscar, liking what he hears, listens at the door. Andres gives Oscar’s presence away. Carolina giggles after he leaves. Moises seems smart as a whip.

Dr. Rosalia writes out a script. Lucia arrives and Rosalia (very prematurely) says the good padre may be her father.

Carolina calls her sister when who should appear out of thin air but Andres! He grabs the phone, threatening Sister Celeste. Sister Celeste calls him out as he makes a fist, standing up to him. He says he wants to recoup his wife and son. The Sister takes exception but Andres threatens to tattle on her to the mother superior. Scathing and unafraid, she rings the bell and enters the sanctity of the convent. She is fierce!

Father Gabriel is cleaning a statue and falls down, hitting his head. He is bleeding and Juan David runs for help. Shall we guess where he goes?? Rosalia runs to his aid, doctor’s black magic bag by her side. Blood, how convenient I mutter. The good father is going to live. I think Lucia took a bit of his hair.

Sister Celeste calls Carolina and tells her what happened. She is grateful but Celeste says you are my sister…Is everything all right Andres asks his mother? She fibs and says yes.

Nestor and Juanita take a walk. Nestor apparently needs some new duds and models a pristine white shirt, then a navy one. He thanks her and drives off as she smiles. Hmmm.

Gloria complains to Father Gabriel about Sister Celeste. Then she asks if Juan David/his family has money. Juan comes out of the shadows, making himself known and seems to confirm the answer to her question is yes.

Oscar smiles at Moises doing his homework…

More longing looks between Juan David and Angelina. They simultaneously ask each other to be novios. They run out from behind their respective desks…

Franco brings Lucia back her cake dish and they make plans. She smiles.

MONTEVERDE #5 Part 2

Carolina serves coffee as Juan David and Angelina arrive with news they are novios. Mama Gloria stands up and effuses “Angelina!” embracing her in a warm hug! That was a change of heart wasn’t it? Angelina declares she is so happy, hugs all the way around.

Manuel sits by himself and there is a knock on the door – Senora Gloria! She is enthusiastic about her daughter and Juan David. She turns to leave but Manuel insists they celebrate her daughter’s news. Wine is poured and Gloria “gives in” saying one glass only. The wine and conversation continue to flow…

The women’s dinner ends and Angelina seems concerned her mother isn’t there.

Lucas, Juan David, Hugo and Franco play cards. Juan is the winner – in cards and in love! The men hustle him out the door 😊 They have a well-intentioned but totally harebrained plan. They lead Juan David down the street carrying a ladder so he can climb into Angelina’s room! Now what could possibly go wrong?? He opens the shutters and pokes his head through the window and then enters the room. He walks over to the bed and puts his hands on a sleeping form in the bed. Uh oh! The logistics are all wrong - it is the bus driver! She is really upset, yelling and screaming; all the women rush in. Angelina is very upset and unforgiving. He apologizes as Angelina pushes him down the stairs, she in tears. He tries to explain but she won’t listen. They both cry as she tells him not to touch her and to leave. He pleads outside the door to no avail. His friends are flummoxed and Juan David is distraught. The three amigos are speechless as they watch him stalk away.

One of the other girls (anyone have a name?) tries to comfort Angelina.

As Gloria tries to leave, Manual puts the moves on her, a gentle touch of the shoulder and sweet kiss. All of a sudden they grab each other and passionately kiss. Uh oh. The next morning Manuel is in the kitchen and Gloria emerges. She has clearly stayed the night. Manuel manages to charm her with another kiss and she is torn between yes and no. She manages to disengage herself and leaves. Manuel is charmed and thrilled!

Carolina’s students are learning and having fun…

The next morning, Angelina is still crying as Gloria tries to sneak in. She asks her where she has been. She tells her she and Juan David have broken up. Gloria seems glowing and doesn’t really freak out as we expect her to.

At the river’s edge, Carolina removes her habit as Oscar walks up. He kneels down and tells her she is muy bonita. They both go to get up and fall into each other’s arms, staring into each other’s eyes.
