Kara Para Ask – Black Money Love – Amor de Contrabando
Episode 70 #1

At Elvan’s home:
Sami, Elif, and Omer are meeting, while Omer is convalescing on the couch.
Omer: What about Metin? Is he talking yet?
Sami: He is insisting on only talking to you, Omer. For security reasons, I put him in a two-person cell. He’s alone right now.
Omer: Good decision, sir. Tomorrow I’ll be better and then we can interrogate him.
Elif: Where do you think you’re going tomorrow? The doctor said you have to rest for a week, plus you’re off work for three months.
Omer disagrees with her. Elif: No! The bullet went into the bone. You can’t more your arm. You have to keep it in the sling, or do you want to undergo more surgery?
Omer: The trial is in a month’s time. Tayyar will try to eliminate Metin. I can’t risk that. I can’t do it. I must see Metin tomorrow.
Sami, Elif, and Omer stare at one another. Sami makes a gesture to Elif suggesting Elif should follow him out.
Sami: I have to go now. I hope you get well soon.
Omer: Thank you, sir.
Elif shows him out.
Sami: You see he’s already asking about it. He’s going to learn the truth. Are you sure about your decision? Maybe you shouldn’t keep it from him anymore. It’s time to tell him.
Elif: No, I’m not going to give up.
Sami: Alright, when do you intend to tell him?
Elif: I’ll tell him at the right time, as he recovers.
Sami: He’s going to get angry about it. Who knows, it might even harm your relationship. Take my word for it.
Elif is thinking deeply.
Back inside, Melike is tidying up after the meeting: Omer, do you want some treats? My mother made them, cabbage and lime. Would you like some?
Omer declines. Elif comes back in after walking Sami to his vehicle.
Omer: What did you talk with Sami about for so long?
Elif: With the chief? He told me to keep an eye on you because you’re so stubborn.
She smiles, but Omer isn’t convinced that’s what was said.
Omer smiles, and says: OK, then.
She offers him some food, and she agrees to eat some if he does.

At Denizer holding:
Levent follows Asli up the stairs. Asli tells him Elif won’t be back until Omer recovers. I’ll take care of things while she’s away. She opens the door to the main office. She tells him she will need some help getting things done as she hasn’t been there in a while. She tells him that once she is more pregnant [uh oh!], she will have to take it easy, but, for now, let’s do what we can. Levent tells her they will check all the files whenever she wishes.

At Elvan’s home:
Melike, Elvan, Elif, Hatice, and Fatma are preparing food at the table. Elif offers to make the soup. Fatma says the kitchen is so small that they can hardly move. [She is such a joy!] Elif chooses some jars of quinoa for the soup. Fatma makes a face. Melike asks her what it is. Elif tells them it’s Grechka Quinoa (Greek quinoa), but the three other ladies look very confused.
Elif: I got the recipe off the internet. I’m sure Omer will love it.
Melike: I hope it tastes better than it sounds. You know, Elif, Omer is quite picky.
Elif: I don’t care. He will eat them because they are full of protein and that’s what he needs now to repair the bone. They’re good for the immune system.
Fatma: Our Tarhana soup is better (in a sing-song voice mocking Elif).

Episode 70 #2
Melike tells Elif her soup is a good idea and tells her Elvan used to send someone to the butcher to buy some marrow bones, which would be really good for Omer right now. She cooked those bones into a soup. We had it when we were young, especially when sick. It was so delicious.
Fatma: That’s what I’m saying. Who cares about the Grechka?
Elvan can see that Elif’s feelings are hurt. Elif tells her that her soup sounds better, and if Omer likes it too, then I can learn.
Elvan: My dear Elif, this (the quinoa) looks like our bulgur. Can we make a good pilaf from that?
Elif, now smiling: Yes.
Alvan: Then make good quinoa or rice, it’ll be good for Omer, too, and then while you’re doing that, I’ll prepare the soup.
Elif: OK. (She smiles and goes into the kitchen to prepare.)
Fatma: What’s the idea with a new meal now? I could cook a traditional pilaf from regular rice.
In the kitchen, Elif removes two bracelets and puts them on a shelf. She opens the quinoa. Melike joins her: It’s your lucky day, Elif. I think my mother is fond of you. She’s not normally so open to new ideas.
Elif ponders this. Melike tells her daughter Demet to go to Sophia and ask for extra tables, chairs, and whatever else is necessary. We are going to have quite a crowd tonight.
Demet: I need help to carry, Mom.
Melike: Bring them one by one. It won’t kill you. It’s good exercise.
Demet gets up to leave and notices the bracelets that Elif took off. She has an almost bewitched look on her face. [This reminds us that she took some things previously from Elif’s home.]
Melike tells her not to hang about and get going. Later we see the table beautifully set with blue and white dishes. Hasan is already helping himself. Melike tells Omer (who is recovering on the couch) that she will remove the blanket since he has been complaining, but he better keep resting or else Mom will get very angry. Omer agrees. Melike suggests that Omer ask Elif’s sister/s for approval for their marriage.
Omer asks if she approves (of the marriage).
Melike: Of course. Do you think they’re going to find a better candidate? She hits him with a friendly blow, which hurts Omer. Melike: Oh, oh oh! I’m so sorry! (She apologizes over and over, while Omer makes a face from the pain.) I didn’t mean to!
Omer: It’s nothing. I’m fine, I’m good.
Melike: Oh, I’m sorry. (She notices Hasan is already stuffing his face.) Hasan, you eat too much. Go and change your clothes. Come along. The guests will be here soon. (He ignores her.) Come on, go and tell your big sister to stop putting on so much makeup. Fatma, you must be exhausted.
Fatma: No, no, we’re fine.
Omer grins at this effort to appease Fatma and at Elif who enters the room.
Elvan comes in, followed by Husseyn, from outdoors where she has apparently been cooking: Chili breads are ready. They’re nice and crispy, too!
Husseyn: I’m jealous! You didn’t prepare any for me? Do I have to shoot myself to get crispy chili breads. (Omer laughs at this.)
Elvan: I make food for you every day. Come on.
Husseyn grins at Elif over this. Husseyn goes over to Omer.
Omer: Uff, you’re treating me like a baby here (as Elvan arranges the blankets).
Elif tells him to stop murmuring like that.
The doorbell rings. It’s the sisters, Nilufer and Asli! Melike welcomes them. Nilufer asks if they should take their shoes off. Melike nods, and Nilufer starts to comply. Asli doesn’t comply, asking: What, shall we sit without shoes?
Melike: This is what we do. I’ll give you slippers. (Big eyeroll from Asli here!) If you feel cold, I can give you woven wool slippers.

Episode 70 #3
Asli and Melike have a stare down, while Nilufer is removing her boots. Melike blinks first: Listen, don’t worry about it. Keep your shoes on if you wish. It’s not important.
Asli strides into the living room, set up as the dining room. Elvan welcomes them all!
Asli: Stop, detective, don’t move (as Omer goes to stand up and welcome them). You are not well enough. Do not leave your bed yet, right? (Husseyn is looking pained about Omer’s condition.) Asli goes on: Isn’t that so, Sheriff? Husseyn plays along, yes, he better not move.
Asli to Omer: Tell me, are they looking at after you well?
Omer grins: Unbelievably. Even more intense than in intensive care, so intense it’s killing me.
Elvan calls them to the table.

We see Arda and Pelin drive up and park. They head up the hill to Elvan’s home. Pelin is carrying something that looks like food. Pelin chickens out halfway up the hill: Arda! I can’t!
Arda runs after her: Pelin, don’t be ridiculous. Come on, Pelin!
She finally turns to him.
Pelin: Arda, I’m not ready to see Omer yet. How can I look him in the eye? What if he doesn’t trust me anymore? I just wouldn’t be able to deal with that. He faced his death because of me.
They stand together at the foot of the stairs looking up at Omer’s home.
Meanwhile, inside, the large group in the makeshift dining room is getting ready to eat.
Omer: it doesn’t hurt that much anymore, but it ruined my jacket, though!
Fatma looks her usual storm cloud as she observes the others at the table. She speaks to Hatice: What kind of dress does she have on? To me it just looks really funny.
Hatice: No, Mom.
Omer asks Nilufer how she is doing. She looks startled, then replies she is as good as she can be.
Asli, stroking Nilufer’s hair, says: But it will get better, won’t it?
Nilufer nods in agreement.
Omer looks at them seriously. He is probably thinking about Fatih/Metin.
Melike is doing something with the dishes, and Elif offers help. Melike says: We’re done here, thanks. They all sit waiting, wondering when they will be able to start eating.
Husseyn: Let’s spray some eau de cologne for the guests to refresh.
Hasan gets up to do this. Asli makes little sarcastic faces. Nilufer frowns at this and Elif just holds her head in frustration. Hasan comes back and offers to spray each guest’s hands. Asli says: Lovely, just like a holiday.
The doorbell rings, and Melike rises to answer. It’s Arda and Pelin.
Husseyn: Where have you been, Arda?
Arda: Traffic. It’s rush hour.
The three sisters look surprised. Elvan welcomes them warmly. Pelin looks uncomfortable. She looks at Omer hesitatingly. Elif smiles. Omer asks her if she wants to sit next to him. She complies, holding back tears.
Pelin: I don’t know how to apologize.
Omer: Apology? There’s no need to apologize.
He gives her a big hug. She smiles.
Omer, while hugging her: Please don’t cry. You’re part of my family. You’ll never need to apologize to me. She still cries.
He says: You’re so upset, you’re making me worried. But maybe you’re hurt more than me.
Pelin: If anything happened to you I …
She hugs him again. The expressions of those around the table range from Elvan, beaming, the three sisters with Asli looking uncomfortable to Husseyn looking a little guilty.
Omer: Don’t worry.
Husseyn: OK, enough. We’re all going to start crying. Come on, everyone is starving. To the table everyone. He calls Hasan to sit with him who has a hard time passing behind Elif, and Elif asks if he was stuck there. Husseyn asks if she is calling him “fatty?”
Elif reacts to that in horror: No, I didn’t mean that at all, please.
Husseyn: It’s OK. I feed him on my lap. Don’t I?
He kisses Hasan.

Episode 70 #4
Asli can’t resist making a comment: The Mad one of this house is Omer’s big brother, I think.
Elvan asks Melike to bring the soup. Elif offers to help. The sisters notice this, which is probably the first time they have ever seen Elif serving. Omer smiles.

At Tayyar’s home:
He is getting a report from someone that I couldn’t identify, probably a doctor: We have checked all the donors on the database, but unfortunately, we couldn’t find any matches for blood type or tissue.
Tayyar: So, what shall we do, huh?
Reporting doctor: We have to ask your closest relatives. We have no other chance.
Tayyar: So, you’re telling me only Mert has the same blood type, huh?
Reporting doctor: No one else.
Tayyar is lost in thought, probably thinking about Fatih.
There is a scene of Fatih in his cell tearing up his letters he has started to Nilufer, unsatisfied with his efforts so far. “My dear wife,” they begin.
He continues to write: I love you so much. You’re beautiful. I don’t want to die and leave you alone. (Then he rips that one up, too.)
He bangs his head on the wall several times.

Back at Elvan’s home, they are breaking down the table/s they used for dinner. Elif offers to help. Melike smiles at her: We’ve cleared everything. Don’t worry, you just sit. Elif sits with her sisters.
Melike, sitting with Elvan says: Thanks. It’s like a wedding party. How nice isn’t it?
In walks Fatma, calling to Hatice to come with her to their room, like martyrs.
Elvan protests: We’re making coffee now.
Fatma: Oh no, no need. My heart beats a little heavy if I have coffee now.
Melike looks very worried.
Fatma bids everyone goodnight. Melike: Oh Fatma, dear, are you off to bed already?
Fatma sighs deeply: She stares at Elif and then says why not and bids everyone goodnight again as she at Hatice leave the room. Omer and Arda come back inside. Omer is pulling on his sling.
Elvan: You’ll get cold! Why are you outside dressed like that?
Omer: I’m fine. Nothing’s going to happen, Mom.
Husseyn bids everyone come inside because the coffee’s ready.
Hasan asks Nilufer her name. He likes it.
Husseyn: Don’t you have any homework today? Go, do your homework. Hasan complies reluctantly.
Omer grins at Elif.
Arda: Husseyn, he’s going to give you plenty of headaches. He’s flirting even at his young age.
Husseyn: Well, he’s learned from the best, hasn’t he?
Demet brings in coffee and serves the sisters first. Asli asks which has one sugar.
Melike tells them to drink up and then she can read their future from the cups.
Asli: Fortunes? I don’t believe it. I advise you not to either. It’s an addiction.
Melike laughs nervously: It’s not because we believe in it. It’s just a little bit of fun.
Nilufer smiles at this.
Melike: You don’t have to believe to have fun.
Husseyn tries to get some conversation going: It’s definitely getting colder outside. Winter is coming. We’re expecting snow this year.
Asli: Could be. All the seasons seem to be out of balance. So our winter could have snow. But enough with the weather. We sound like weathermen.
The three sisters laugh.

Episode 70 #5
Omer looks over without a smile at this. Husseyn feels slighted. Elvan looks at the silly girls very seriously. The girls get into giggling fits and can’t stop.
Husseyn: All right, I don’t get it. What is so funny?
At this point Omer starts to giggle, too.
Demet is in the kitchen and feels the call of Elif’s bracelets. She takes one, puts it back, takes it again and puts it in her pocket. She leaves the kitchen and walks to her room.
Melike sets up the coffee table in its customary situation.
Elvan: OK, All right. I prepared hot kunefe (a sweet treat).
Nilufer: Thank you very much. Everything was delicious. We’re totally stuffed.
Omer: Try the kunefe first, then we talk.
The sisters smile and agree.
Arda suggests they play backgammon.
Asli says yes, Elif is very good at it, but she does still count with her fingers. Elif can’t believe Asli said that, and Omer is amused. Asli continues: On the positive, she is also a very good tennis player and she’s a good swimmer, although she doesn’t like to fish. So, now she doesn’t swim so much anymore. She is definitely afraid of heights, though. Everyone in our family is.
Melike: It makes us sound quite normal.
Nilufer frowns at this.
Asli: Well, I think you’re all a pretty normal and average family, aren’t you all?
Elif is stunned at this! Elvan is hurt, Melike concerned. Husseyn frowns, Omer looks unhappy.
Elif: Asli!
Melike clears her throat: Such a tease for a sister you have, Elif.
Elif smiles at this effort to bring the conversation back to a civil one.
Elif stares daggers at Asli.
Melike: Mom, do you remember when Omer was just a small child and we sent him to buy kunefe (I think) and he fell down on the way back. All the kunefe was gone.
Elvan smiles at this memory.
Omer: I was a pretty small kid in middle school.
Melike: Oh, yes! He was clumsy all through growing up.
Omer isn’t smiling at this. Elif is smiling and shaking her head.
Melike keeps going: I remember him dropping everything. Full containers of yogurt.
Elvan: He was energetic. He was always in a hurry. He tried to do everything. Don’t you remember?
Melike agrees.
The three sisters are smiling at this.
Asli: Well, we should go. When you visit a sick person you should never stay too long.
Elvan: What about dessert?
Nilufer says: thank you, everything was perfect. We’d better go. Asli isn’t feeling well. She really needs to rest.
Asli opens her eyes wide and says: Please don’t get up. It was an absolute pleasure being here and thank you so much for having us. I’m sure we’ll see you soon.
Omer: Thanks for joining us.
Nilufer and Asli leave. Elif shows them out.
The remaining family looks shell-shocked, Elvan especially.
Husseyn: Never mind, Mom, she’s the mad one in the family.
Melike: I can see that.
Pelin: Arda, I think we’d better leave, too. It’s been a long visit and Omer needs some rest.

Episode 70 #6
Omer: Where are you going? We haven’t talked yet. Now that we’ve arrested Metin, we should be able to get Tayyar behind bars.
Husseyn looks unhappy at this topic of conversation.
Omer: So, tell me what’s been going on?
Pelin: I’m on suspension. I’ve being investigated, so I’m at home.
Omer is stunned at this.
Omer: Why?
He looks at Husseyn. No one wants to answer.

Nilufer is driving Asli.
Asli: I get so mad when she (Elif) calls Melike sister. How did she integrate herself to them. I mean, why does she want to be involved with them. I don’t like that Melike girl at all.
Nilufer: But they are very hospitable people, Asli. Well, they’re good people at least. They tried their best to make us feel at home tonight.
Asli: Do you think that being a good person solves everything?
Nilufer: Yes.
Asli: Good for you. Keep thinking like that. Now I understand why you got into so much trouble in the first place.
Nilufer clenches her jaw.
Asli keeps it up: You don’t even know for sure whether your man is a good guy or not.
Nilufer: Asli, please.
Asli: I hope Elif really thinks about this. They are very poor and we come from a different background. I don’t know what she’s thinking. I don’t mean to be funny but it’s true.
Nilufer: So now you humiliate poor people. Good for you. Bravo.
Asli: Never. I only say that everybody should live within their class. How long do you think she can be happy in that kind of lifestyle? Same goes for Omer. How long until he feels uncomfortable that they come from a different life? Omer is a good guy. I also love him. He’s deeply in love with Elif. I can see that, but it’s hard to balance the differences. After the first couple of honeymoon months, the cracks starts to show. I’m telling you, it’s very difficult when you start to realize how different your backgrounds are. It causes friction. Unfortunately.
Nilufer drives on with a sad face. [I’m remembering that Asli has been married twice, so she might be speaking from experience.]

Back at Elvan’s, the young folks are talking.
Omer: What is this garbage? Who’s leading the investigation? Who’s in charge? I want to speak to them. I want to find out why this was kept from me.
Arda: What difference does it make if you know? Let them investigate. They will get absolutely nothing.
Omer: And what is Tayyar doing? I can’t presume he’s playing along nicely.
Arda: Actually, he neither implicates nor clears Metin.
Omer: I’m sure he has a plan. (We see Husseyn looking very serious as he listens to this conversation.) Metin didn’t talk so he’s safe. I’ll make Metin talk just as soon as I get up.
Elif is also looking serious along with Pelin.
Husseyn: Whatever. It’s too late to talk about this now.
Pelin: Husseyn is right. We better leave. It’s very late.
Omer: OK, off you go. I’ll be back in two days, OK?
Husseyn: OK, take her home.
Pelin smiles and kisses Omer’s cheek: I love you so much. You know that?
Omer: I love you two.
[It’s nice to see them smiling at one another, especially Pelin.]
Arda bids everyone good night. Husseyn teases Arda not to be late the next day as he usually is.
Melike, at the door: Thanks for coming.

Episode 70 #7
Elvan wishes them well at the door with Melike.
After they leave, the family (plus Elif) are in the living room.
Melike: What a night! Thank goodness we got through it.
Elif: You look tired.
Melike tells her not to worry about anything. She should go to bed. Omer looks at Melike, who takes the hint and leaves to sort out the kitchen.
Elvan sighs.
Elif: If you don’t mind, I’ll stay a little longer. I’ll probably go after Omer has had his medication, if that’s all right.
Elvan: Of course. This is your house as well. You stay here tonight. I don’t want you to go home alone. After all it is almost midnight.
Omer perks up at hearing this.
Elif: OK, then, let me help you in the kitchen.
Mother and sons smile at one another.
Later, we see Elvan preparing a pillow for Elif. [Oh joy!] it’s Fatma. She is looking for her small bag. [I suspect she is just wanting to know about sleeping arrangements.] Elvan tells her to make herself at home. Fatma says she is not really comfortable because Elvan gave up her bed.
Fatmas: We’ve been a burden on you.
Elvan: We’re a family. In a family there aren’t any burdens.
Fatma: But they put your bed on the floor. It’s winter. Won’t you feel cold?
Elvan: It’s a woolen bed and blanket. It’ll be warm enough. But anyway I’ve prepared this bed for Elif. It isn’t for me, you know.
Fatma looks sufficiently offended at this: You mean she will stay here in the same room as Omer?
Elvan just smiles at her. Fatma leaves, barely saying “good night.” Elvan wishes her the same.
Omer is lying on the couch. Elif says: Hey, Chief, it’s time for your tablets. He looks at her suspiciously: Sorry, do we know each other?
Elif says: What? Don’t look at me like that. I was helping with the dishes in the kitchen.
Omer grins: OK, I was just teasing you. I mean you’re the one who is wearing those slippers.
Elif: No, no, it’s fine with me.
Omer: Looks like you created a fashion for yourself.
Elif: Don’t be naughty.
Omer takes his meds and thanks her very much.
He takes her hand: Beautiful Elif, you’ve been so helpful these last few days.
Elif: It’s nothing compared with what you’ve done for me. It’s partly my fault that you’re shot. For me and my family.
Elvan comes in: I made up your room. Why don’t you go and relax.
Omer: OK, Mom.
Elvan goes to help him stand. He says he can manage himself. But as he tries to get up he winces.
Elvan: Maybe I want to help my son. Is that OK.
Omer smiles and agrees. They manage to get him up with a few groans and they head into the room. Elif follows them. They go out the main door. (The bedrooms seem to be in an adjoining building.) Elif spots Demet and asks her if she saw Elif’s silver bracelet in the kitchen where she left her bracelets. Demet tells her no. Elif says maybe she forgot it somewhere else. She bids Demet good night and leaves.

Episode 70 #8

In the room, Elvan puts Omer to sleep in the bed. Husseyn checks in to see if they need anything else. Omer says no.
Melike brings the blanket in for Elif’s bed they are making on the floor. Elvan says thank you and to let him sleep. Melike explains that the blankets were her mother’s. They are woolen.
Melike: I’m sure you’re more used to a feather or synthetic duvet. This might feel a little heavy for you. But we’re all used to them. In summer, we empty them and we air them out and then we refill them. This is such a lot of work. My mother is very strict about the tradition. I hope it doesn’t make you itch. Are you quite sure you’re going to be all right?
Elif: It’s OK. I can sleep with that. It’s fine.
Omer offers to switch beds, after all, he’s used to sleeping on the floor.
Elif: No, Omer, that’s not necessary. It’s a nice bed. Your eyes are closing. You look pale. You must go to sleep. You must get some proper rest now and get better.
Omer: Yeah, I’m tired.
Melike: OK, good night then.
Omer: Thank you.
Elif wishes her goodnight at the door.
Elif goes to help Omer with his sling.
Melike looks at them interacting with a shocked expression. She leaves, shaking her head.
Elif asks Omer if he’s all right.
Omer: I’m fine.
Elif gets into her bed and they smile at each other.
In Fatma’s room, Melike is bringing her a pillow.
Fatma: Has everyone gone to bed?
Melike: Yes, everyone, except my mother. She’s still praying.
Fatma: Prayer will not help. Who knows what’ll happen in that room tonight. [I love this gossipy exchange between two generations of old-fashioned woman.]
Demet tells her mother that’s rude.
Fatma: What shame. You put gunpowder and fire into the same room, then you can see what will happen and they say there’s nothing official yet. (She mimics): Medication, check the fever. Well, it is none of her business. He has got a mother. This girl, she is attached badly to Omer.
Elvan walks in and says: Fatma, dear, let’s just get this straight. I called Elif to help us. And you know she knows a lot from her time in the hospital and she wants to care for my son and for sure she does it with even more love than me.
Melike: Mom, Fatma is right. Did I ever come and stay in your house before I married Husseyn? People will talk. It’ll be bad for our reputation. We’ll be disgraced.
Elvan warns Melike: You just leave them alone. They have been through enough already and I can’t believe that you are still talking about this. Please, hand me my prayer mat, won’t you? Thank you very much and good night to you.
Melike and Fatma wish Elvan good night.
Back in Omer’s room, Elif looks very tired. She whispers to him: Thank you for everything, Omer.
Omer is mostly asleep.
She goes to lie on her bed, and his eyes pop open. When she looks at him, he playfully closes them again, feigning sleep. She keeps looking at him and walks over to him. She inhales his scent and enjoys being near him for a bit. Then she heads back down to her bed, and his am reaches out and grabs her. They spend a little while looking at one another.
Omer: I’m not going to die, you know. You can’t get away that easy.
She comes closer and he puts his hand on her cheek. More deep staring.
Elif: I want you by my side always.
Omer: I promise. I always will be.

She reaches over and kisses him.
Elif: Be good.
She returns to her bed, but Omer calls her name.
Omer: Elif! Come lie next to me. I want to have your scent near me.
Elif: Your mother is right there. What do you think she’s going to think of me?
Omer: Then let her think. They know that I’m head over heels in love with you.
Elif grins and then goes back to her bed saying: Not before marriage.
Omer: Is that your way of proposing to me?
That gets a rise out of Elif, who sits up in bed: Excuse me, proposing to you? You are so naughty.
Omer laughs at her cheeks, which he says are blushing.
Omer: Oh, my shoulder is aching so badly. It’s so sore.
Elif kisses him again. And gets back on her bed.
They look lovingly at one another.
Omer: Buona note, Signorina.
Elif: Good night, Chief.
He reaches his hand out for hers. They finally close their eyes and sleep.
The next morning, Elif is stroking Omer’s head. His eyes open and he smiles.
They wish each other good morning.
Omer admits to a little pain around the stitches. Elif kisses them. She tells Omer he’ll be OK. She offers to bring his breakfast. He sits up with a groan.
Omer: You know, I could get used to this. Maybe I should get shot again.
Elif: Don’t, don’t ever say that again! Don’t even mention getting shot again. You scare me.
Omer: OK. I was just joking.
Elif: Well, don’t. Please don’t. No joking about it.
She already has a tray with his breakfast, simit and milk. Tea will come after he drinks the milk. She also gives him more pills.
Omer has been thinking: Elif, today I need to see Metin.
Elif: No, Omer.
Omer: Elif, this is my job and this is my case. Please, I’m asking, let me finish it.
They stare very seriously at each other.

At Pelin’s:
Arda knocks on the door with a sack of food.
Arda: Coffee of the day, here you go.
Pelin is smiling again and thanks him. There are flowers in the sack, too.
Arda: We have brownies too, you’ll love them. And here is today’s paper. Flowers are hidden in lots of places. [Arda is a romantic.]
Pelin: You’re very chipper this morning.
Arda: Oh, please be nice. Do you have anything in your hair?
Another flower! Arda: Well, here’s something.
He tells her he knows it’s improper for a police officer to be so adorned (with flowers) but I just wanted you to know how I feel. OK, I’ll go now.
Pelin: Arda? Thank you.
Pelin kisses his cheek. They smile at each other for a bit, and then Arda heads to work.

In the jail:
Guards bring Metin out of his cell.
Metin: I don’t think you understand what I’m saying.
The guard gestures him into the room.
There’s a man there in a suit. Fatih says that’s it and calls for the guard: This meeting is over.
The suit: Mr. Fatih, please. I brought a letter from your father. I will give it to you and leave.
Fatih: Tell him to send me the letter through the post office. He knows my address.
The suit: I’ve already brought it to you here. He sincerely asks you to read it. He says it’s very important.
Fatih: Hmmm. (Fatih thinks about this.)

KPA

Thanks Babachita!

It was an interesting episode seeing the family dynamics! I could do without Fatma though. I didn't realize they were now living at Elvan's house.... what a nightmare!

Asli is a fascinating character! I can't decide if I love the character or the actress more. She seems both interested and disinterested, warm and cold, all at the same time. It's rare to see. I love how she went from so cold with Melike to so warm with Omer in 1.5 seconds!! She even teased Huseyin a little.

I wonder what secret Elif is keeping from Omer that Sami was referring to... do we know? Nothing came to mind, but maybe I'm forgetting something.

Great recap of a great episode, Babachita. Lol, family dynamics. Like a big stewpot. Elmer adds the sweet, Fatma adds the sour, and Asli adds the spice.

ITA, Darcy, Asli is fascinating. The actor plays her so well. I’ve seen her in other dizis, and I think she’s great.

Omer and Pelin—very touching.

I felt the some of the translations were a little off in the English dubbing. When Melike said, thank God we’re a normal family, Asli shot back, but you’re a bit of a chatterbox. Ha, Elvan tried to hide a smile. Melike tried to play it off. She told Elif, your sister is a good joker.

kpa

Dondi, I like your translation of that interchange. It’s not insulting, it’s funny! Too bad they didn’t stick more to the original.

It was a fascinating episode. Fatma we definitely could do without!

#71 part 1

Omer is determined to question Fatih and Elif is determined to stop him. Elif asks him, don’t you trust Sami to handle this? It has nothing to do with trust, Omer answers, this is my case, I have to finish it.

Nilufer shows up at the company to see Asli. Asli is very upset. She tells Nilu she’s bleeding and she’s afraid there’s a problem with her baby. Asli walks and Nilu follows.

Arda is with Nevin in the safe house. She claims she knows nothing. You know the man who brought you from Bulgaria, he replies. He shows her a folder with photos of criminals. That man could be here. These men kidnapped you, if we hadn’t caught them, they would have killed you or your son. The men we caught aren’t talking, but if you identify one of them, you will do the right thing for you and your son. Otherwise, all the blame will fall on Fatih.

That seems to get Nevin’s attention. Please, teyze, please, Arda begs. Otherwise, I’ll come every day and show you these photos. I’m trying to help you, do you understand? He opens the folder and shows her the pics, page by page. Nothing yet.

Fatih opens the letter. My son, your voice is still in my ears. You’re right, I should call you my son. I won’t withhold your family from you. No matter what, you are my son. Sometimes people realize their mistakes, even if it’s late. [especially if they need a kidney.] I apologize. I forgive you. Please forgive me, too.

Omer leaves the house. Elif follows him outside. Omer wait. I need to tell you something. Nilufer and I withdrew our complaints. Omer is dumbfounded. What? You heard me, Elif says, we won’t press charges. Fatih is only in custody because of the gunfight. He’ll probably be released at the first hearing. The kidnapping case will be dropped. Omer tries to process this.

Nevin is still looking through the folder with Arda. He flips the next page and there’s Huseyin’s photo! Nevin stares at it. Flashback to Huseyin bringing her to that house. Arda points to Huseyin—was it this man? Nevin doesn’t acknowledge. Arda asks, is he the one who brought you from Bulgaria? Nevin continues staring at the photo.

Omer is incredulous. Elif, how could you do this? After all that’s happened… was it all in vain? You’re putting a criminal back out on the streets. I can’t allow that to happen. Elif answers, I will not get hurt again. I lost my father, then I lost my mother. It still hurts. I can’t lose you too. I couldn’t stand it if I lost you. Nothing will happen to me, Omer replies.

How do you know that, Elif fires back, you were in a coma just 3 days ago. I went crazy when I saw you bleeding so much. I was out of my mind until you woke up. Don’t you understand? I can’t live without you. All I want to be happy. Let Tayyar win, I don’t care. She puts her hands on Omer’s face. I want us to be happy. Don’t keep us apart.

Omer answers, I can’t let him go. He will go back to doing what he always did. I don’t care, Elif replies, I’ve made my choice and I’ve chosen the love of my life. Now you chose. Will you choose your case or me? I can’t accept this ridiculous choice, he says. I’m serious Omer, I just want a peaceful life with you. I don’t care about Tayyar or the things he did. He asks, Elif, how can you give up now? We fought so long and sacrificed so much to get to Tayyar. I want to protect us, she answers. Maybe you don’t understand now but you will someday. Don’t say anything else, he tells her, let’s pretend we never talked about this. He turns to go.

Elif calls out, every choice is a surrender. He stops and turns back. She continues, this might be more important to you. Let’s sit down and talk about our priorities. Signorina, I won’t give up on you or on this case, understand?

#71 part 2

Tayyar is impatient. He wants Fatih’s kidney asap! The doc reminds him that Fatih’s in jail. We’ll find another donor. Tayyar doesn’t want to take chances with rejection. He only wants Fatih’s kidney. He owes me, this is his payback.

A henchie tells Tayyar that Omer is going to take Fatih’s statement today.

Omer tells Elif to calm down. They can talk about this later. Sami is waiting for him. Go ahead, she says, crush me. Don’t be like this, he says. She’s worked up. Omer, try to understand! I want a simple, straightforward life with a beginning and an end. I don’t want my heart to ache every time you’re not with me. I love you. I love you too, he replies.

Elif continues, Tayyar tried to kill you that day. He didn’t succeed. If you don’t give up, he’ll try again. I don’t want to wake up to the news of your death one morning. I’m ready to put everything to the test, but not your life. So think again, if you really love me as you say, don’t dismiss this.

Omer says okay, I understand but I don’t agree with you. Okay, withdraw your complaint. I’ll respect that but you will respect me, too. This is my job. I was trained to catch criminals. I swore an oath. Don’t push me any further, okay? Don’t try to use my love against me. I’m going to talk to Fatih now. I’ll catch Tayyar. When the iron bars close on his face, then we will sit and talk about the direction of our lives again, but not now, Elif, not now. Omer goes.

Elif follows Omer to his car. She whispers to herself, God help me. Omer tells her to go home. She says, maybe this isn’t the right time for us to talk. We are doing what we want to do. You go and I follow you. He gets angry and forgets about his arm. It hurts. He calls her stubborn. Don’t complain, komiser, she replies, I learned this from you. At least let me drive you. Omer walks to the driver’s side of the car. How will you drive with that arm, Elif asks. He says he’ll manage.

Tayyar’s man, Nevzat, is watching from a car in the distance. Tayyar calls him. He says Omer is leaving the house and Elif is with him. Keep an eye on them, Tayyar orders, do whatever it takes, stop him from talking to Fatih. Understand?

Omer complains, you say you want to end this, so why do you want to come with me? You shouldn’t drive with your arm like that, she replies, you just came home from the hospital. What happens if you pass out while driving? You just came out of a coma. Elif gets in the passenger side. Omer comes around to her side. He opens the door. Get out. She won’t. Don’t be childish, he warns, I can’t take you to the prison, you can’t go inside. She answers, if you’re going, I’m going with you. Omer has no choice but to shut the door.

Omer gets in the car. Okay, signorina, this is okay, too. He struggles with the seat belt, and she helps him. Thanks. Omer drives and Nevzat follows.
Arda continues to show photos to Nevin. She doesn’t identify anyone. He notes that she lingered a while at Huseyin’s pic. Look again. She says she wants to help but no one is familiar. Arda is frustrated. He tells her he will leave the folder with her, and she can look carefully especially at this page (the one with Huseyin’s pic). Don’t worry, he says, I will look after you and your son.

Arda leaves and, oh no, Huseyin emerges from another room. Nevin glares at him. Well done, he tells her, you handled it well. He pours a glass of water for her. He was insistent on who one of them is, Huseyin notes and goes to the folder. Huseyin sees his photo.

#71 part 3

Asli and Nilufer are in the restroom. Asli is panicking. Nilu tries to calm her. Remember you bled a little when you were pregnant with Can? Nilu tries calling Elif. She doesn’t answer. Nilu tells Asli she’ll call the doctor. No answer.

Elvan and Fatma are making manti. Fatma quips, tell me what else your new bride likes so we can prepare that, too. She’ll love you even more. Elvan replies, Fatma, you buried your young daughter with your own hands. May Allah give you patience. But don’t shed your grief in the wrong place. Neither Elif nor I are to blame. If we were, I’d agree with you. After everything was over, Elif came to Omer’s side. It’s destiny. Fatma sighs.

Melike brings Elif’s phone from the kitchen. She says it’s been ringing for a long time. Her sister is calling, and it might be important. Should we answer? Elvan says let’s not interfere. Elif will come and check her phone. Bring the tray for us.

Asli doesn’t want to wait any longer. She wants to go to the doctor. Levent sees them in the parking lot. He asks if something is wrong. Nilu says Asli has pain and they are going to the doctor. Is there anything I can do, he asks. Asli is short with him, nothing you can do, this is a woman issue, stay and take care of the business.

Omer calls in to Sami. I’m on my way. Sami says hurry, Fatih’s lawyer is here. Omer says, there was a small problem, but I handled it. He looks over at Elif. I’ll be there. Elif silently simmers. Nevzat is still on their trail.

Fatih rereads Tayyar’s letter. A guard opens the door. Your lawyer and the police are here. They are ready for your statement. Fatih asks if Omer is there. Fatih jokes, so many have come, it’s like I’m the most beloved man in the world. The guard comes in. He says, we have a mutual acquaintance, and he sends his greetings. He told me to bring you anything you need. Is there anything you want? For example, if you want to go out for 10 minutes or you don’t like the food. Or if you want to use the phone, we’ll take care of it. Just say the word.

I expected it would be like this, Fatih replies, he’ll be watching us here, too. Our mutual acquaintance might make me the manager of the graveyard right away. You misunderstand, brother, the guard answers, he wants what’s best for you. Yeah, sure, Fatih says.

Angry Tayyar calls Nevzat for an update. What are you doing? Are you waiting for Fatih to spill the beans to Omer? Nevzat says the time wasn’t right. Tayyar threatens, your fate will be the same as Naci’s [IIRC, Tayyar killed him.] It will say “greedy and incompetent” on both your gravestones!

Elif says, remember that night when you came to my workshop? We had a fight and then you left my side, hurt. I felt awful. Then you were shot and your head slipped between my hands. I was so afraid I wouldn’t have another chance to explain myself to you. Not being able to smell your scent again. She asks, while I’m suffering so much, don’t you feel anything, Omer? Didn’t any of this affect you? Don’t you think like me, that the only thing that matters is life?

The question I’m searching for an answer to is very precious to me, Omer replies, there’s no end to Tayyar’s filth. We will find out what happened with the murder. Just as you feel the pain of the day I was shot, I feel the pain of the night of the murder. Really, komiser, Elif responds, I can give up finding my father’s killer so nothing happens to you, but you can’t give up the memory of your ex-fiancee? Is that right?

kpa
#71 part 4

Don’t say that, Omer answers. Be quiet Omer, she replies, stop the car. He tells her don’t be ridiculous. She raises her voice, stop the car… I’m getting out! She pulls the emergency brake as they enter a traffic circle. The car skids and Omer tries to control it with his one hand. Nevzat heads right for Omer’s side of the car. Bang. Omer is in serious pain.

Fatih’s lawyer has news. Elif and Nilu have dropped the charges. Fatih is surprised that Elif allowed this. Sami enters. He wants to start the questioning. Fatih asks, where is Omer? Sami says he’s on the way. Sami and Fatih exchange barbs. Sami threatens to break Fatih’s jaw.

Asli paces in the doctor’s waiting room. She loses her patience and barges into his office while he’s finishing with another woman. She demands to have an ultrasound. He says he’ll do it. While Asli gets prepped, the doc asks Nilu, haven’t you talked to Asli yet? It’s irresponsible. That poor woman still thinks she’s pregnant. Nilu explains, we were going to tell her, but a lot of things happened so we couldn’t. If Asli learns this now, she’ll be devastated. I couldn’t reach Elif, and I can’t handle this without her. Please don’t tell her today. The doc says he can’t consider their family issues anymore.

Huseyin is about to head into the station, when he sees Arda arrive. He goes over to him. What’s up, Arda? Where were you? Pelo isn’t here either, and I’m running around like crazy. I had some things to do, Arda replies, I’m sorry, abi. Huseyin puts his hand on the back of Arda’s neck. It’s okay son, I’ll manage. You’re my dearest. I’m your older brother first, then I’m your chief. What kind of business was it? Was it about a woman? Tell me.

Arda says yes, I had a date. Of course, Huseyin answers, after all you’re a single man. You’ve been alone. Even if the judge asks you if you’re still married, you left your wife. It’s over, right? Arda tries to get away. I have to get to the office, there’s an urgent matter I must deal with.

Huseyin says he’s going inside, too. He warns Arda, go have your adventure, but if you hurt Pelo… I’ll beat you up! Don’t pull any tricks to make her jealous. Arda wonders what’s the reason for all this. Huseyin says, I can see what’s going on. You can’t hide anything from me. Don’t try. Huseyin is scowling as he walks inside. Arda wonders what Huseyin knows.

Elmer wait in the ER. A policeman gets info from Nevzat about the accident. A nurse comes over to Omer, are you in pain. A little, he answers. Can you move your fingers? He can.

Nevzat tells the cop he doesn’t understand how this happened. He stopped in front of me. I couldn’t avoid it. I’m very sorry, I heard the man just had surgery. It’s bad. The nurse is ready to take Omer in to see the doctor. Omer says he’s fine and with her permission, he’ll go. I have work to do. Elif tells him he can’t go anywhere until he sees the doctor. Omer relents, okay I’ll see the doc and then go. Damn! This accident happened at the worst time.

Asli gets her sonogram. There’s a baby on the screen. She’s so relieved. Thank God! The doc tells her the baby is fine. You can get dressed. Asli has questions. You’re not taking measurements? I want to know. My belly hasn’t grown at all. I’m not having pregnancy symptoms. I had nausea in my previous pregnancy. The doc explains, I took you as an emergency, without an appointment. You interrupted us. I have patients waiting. I’ll give you another appointment, come and we’ll talk.

kpa
#71 part 5

Nilu backs up the doc. He motions to Nilu to come with him. The doc says he showed her the picture from his previous appointment. He warns, this will not happen again. Tell her immediately.

Asli is so excited. She feels the baby is a girl, a little Zerrin is on the way.

Omer is examined. Elif winces each time he grunts in pain. She looks away. He says, Elif Hanım still can’t get used to the sight of blood. She asks Omer, does it hurt a lot? He shoots her a look. Don’t spill any tears, he tells her. The doctor say Omer needs an MRI immediately. Omer says he can’t he has to leave. He has things to do. The doc says forget about work. Being in this much pain is not good. I don’t like the looks of this.

Elif asks why. Is it because of the accident or the earlier injury? Omer says he’s fine. Doctors just want to be careful. The doc says we will understand better after the MRI. It could be because of the accident as well. Elif talks to the doctor outside the room. He scolds her. How could you let Omer go out in this condition? He’s driving, and on top of that, he has an accident! Did I give him 3 months leave for nothing? Elif says she tried, but he didn’t listen. You should have made him listen, the doc replies. God willing, it’s not as bad as I fear.

Tayyar is working on his latest jigsaw puzzle. Nevzat comes in with the good news about the accident. And actually, Omer is at fault for the accident. They didn’t care about me at all. They were busy arguing during the accident. Then he was in a lot of pain. There wasn’t much damage to either car. The car I drove was a rental. It can’t be traced to us. Good job, Tayyar says. Don’t forget to put someone at the hospital. Already done, Nevzat replies.

Omer is on the phone to Sami. We’re waiting for the MRI result. I’ll let you know. He looks at Elif. Brava, signorina, brava. You got what you wanted. I couldn’t talk to Fatih again. Do you think I would want something like this to happen, Elif replies. When you’re hurting, it hurts me even more, don’t you know? Omer feels bad. Okay, don’t frown. He smiles at her, come here.

Isn’t it enough you shouted at me, Elif asks, are you going to hit me too? If you don’t come here, I will, he laughs. Don’t underestimate me just because I can’t move my arm. He holds out his hand, hadi, gel. She takes his hand and sits next to him on the bed.

Omer says, Elif, let’s love each other without changing each other. I’m still Omer Komiser. I’m not trying to change you, she replies, I just want you to live. I know, he says, I promise from now on, when I undertake something, I’ll think of you. I don’t want you to be upset. But don’t forget that I am entrusted to Allah first and then to myself. He hugs her close and smiles. I’m such a burden, I know. If you want to turn back, there’s still time. Never, she answers.
Omer smiles, so the situation is still good. You’re still a fan of mine. Don’t say this guy can’t get out of the hospital. What am I going to do with you, she asks, you’re a crazy guy. They kiss. He says, you fell in love with this crazy guy, signorina. We are the same. He goes for another kiss, and she shies away. He makes a play for sympathy—my arm hurts. What if someone comes in, she says. They kiss. And kiss.

#71 part 6

Ha, the doctor and nurse open the door. Doc clears his throat and Elmer jump apart like two teens who got caught in the bedroom. The doc has results. Omer asks if he can go. Doc answers, unfortunately you are my guest for the night. Omer protests, I have work to do. Work will wait, the doc says, health is more important. You have colleagues that can handle the work.

Elif asks why Omer has to stay. Doc says it’s for observation. You got out of the hospital 2 days ago. You’re driving and putting yourself in danger. Your vital signs are not normal yet. I’ll check you again in the morning and then we’ll talk. You need to rest, Omer, you had a serious operation. The doctor wants to speak with Elif. Elif tells Omer they will continue where they left off when she returns. She leaves and he looks concerned.

Sami tells Fatih and the lawyer that Omer isn’t coming. We’ll ask the questions tomorrow.

And we are out.

KPA

Thank you Dondi! Amazing recap as always!

Where is Can? We haven't seen him since dad died... did we get told where we went? Or is he just not on camera? Is he with his paternal grandparents or something?

The dynamic with Asli and Levent is very odd...I wish they would show them a little more so I could decide what it is. I mean ultimately I don't like Levent so I don't really care, but it's interesting. It's kind of like I was saying yesterday, sometimes they seem to really dislike each other but other times there seems to be affection. Levent seemed to be genuinely concerned about Asli in the parking lot in this episode but the one before when she was talking about working there, he looked like he wanted to throw her out the window.... Asli does the same thing, her reactions to him vary from downright flirtatious to dismissive and contemptuous. I guess it's a way to show bi-polar tendencies on Asli's part but it's interesting on Levent's...

Huseyin knows that Arda suspects him!!! That's not good!

I sympathize with Elif's POV but it's not really realistic to expect to just put their heads in the sand and live HEA and let Tayyar do whatever Tayyar will do. Of course, she'd probably change her mind after the emotion of the situation wore off, she's just traumatized by seeing Omer shot and in a coma.

I wonder what tomorrow's (today's) medical tests will show? I haven't watched yet, but I will in a bit. The recap will be up late afternoon/evening!

Happy Sunday!

KPA

Darcy, I thought Can was the stepson of Asli's husband who died (whose name I've forgotten) and he lived with his dad, probably because of Asli's mental health.

kpa

I also think Cem is Asli’s son from a first marriage. He doesn't live with her but we see him once in awhile.

I may be in a minority of one, but I kind of like Levent. Not for Elif, of course. But he seems to be improving. Maybe it’s because he isn’t under Bahar’s thumb as much. I felt a little sorry for him after all the work he did on the “gaudy” (Omer’s opinion) studio! For Asli? Not sure that would work. Interesting that he doesn’t bug me as much.

I hope Arda will be safe. Husseyn is really dangerous.

Thank you for the great summary, Dondi.

KPA 72 part 1 of 4

The doc tells Elif that Omer needs an operation in his left arm or it’s possible he will never be able to use it the same way again. Elif doesn’t understand why he hasn’t told him this before but the doc wasn’t expecting Omer to be up and driving and getting an automobile accident, it thought he’d be at home, resting, not moving his arm!

Shows what doc knows, Omer is in his hospital room taking to Sami still trying to plot a way to interrogate Fatih! Elif reenters the room to find Omer in the midst of this discussion and she doesn’t tell Omer about the operation. He wants to know what’s with the face but she just hugs him close and says she’s always afraid to lose him and now she’s even more afraid. As Elif is more and more serious, Omer questions her again but Elif plays it off as being affected by the car accident. They lay back and watch TV.

Arda is going through Pelo’s purse and complaining that you can’t find anything in a women’s purse!?! LOL He gets caught and surprisingly Pelo doesn’t overreact! She simply asks what he is doing and when Arda explains he has a phone case for her and was trying to surprise her, she says thank you and it’s very nice. Arda tells Pelo about his photo lineup with Fatih’s mom and once again she doesn’t overreact! It’s like we have a new Pelo! She does explain to Arda that it was a bad idea and that Fatih’s mom could have recognized Huseyin from anywhere that lineup wouldn’t have done any good. But she does it calmly. Pelo says Arda is too eager to prove someone else, anyone else, is guilty just to save her because he’s in love and Arda says of course I am. Finally, we get a meaningful look between these two and just when in looks like Pelo was going to allow Arda to kiss her HE pulls away!!!?? He says something about how he should leave before…he gets up to go but Pelo points out that it’s his house!! LOL She says but I can leave if he wants her to but Arda is quick to say no. Don’t leave, ever! He sits back down and once again gives Pelo a loving, longing look. He leans in and just as we think we’ll get a kiss again the phone rings! Pelo goes to answer and Arda mumbles something about how he just HAD to find that phone! It’s Huseyin on the phone calling to update them on Omer.

Tayyar is getting another check up by his doctor. He’s in pain – I didn’t follow it all but it’s clear that Tayyar’s need for the transplant is urgent. They can’t just keep waiting for Fatih, this situation needs to be taking care of ASAP. This reminds me of something I keep forgetting to mention – why isn’t Mert being considered at all in this equation? Is it just because Tayyar wants to ‘punish’ Fatih by taking his kidney?

Nilu is in the kitchen getting a snack for Asli and putting something in her OJ… some sort of sedative? Or maybe sneaking in her meds since she isn’t willingly taking them thinking she’s preggo? Asli enters, is Nilu caught? Nope, she’s not. Asli took the OJ. She didn’t want it, but she took it. She leaves the room, and Nilu gets a phone call from Fatih! She says she is going to hang up and not to call her back, but she doesn’t hang up. Fatih thanks Nilu for dropping the charges and apologizes for how he acted at the police station. He said she really hurt him by talking about his family and his secrets. She broke his heart but she is his wife, his family! Nilu says nothing except I’m going to hang up and this time Fatih says it’s okay, you can hang up; she does and Nilu sits at the kitchen island crying. We also see Fatih sitting in his cell fighting back tears.

KPA 72 part 2 of 4

Tayyar meets with his lawyer and learns about Fatih not meeting with Omer and Omer spending the night in the hospital. Tayyar is pleased until he finds that Fatih still isn’t being released from prison at which point he feels the lawyer is useless and he gets frustrated. He gives him a message for Fatih’s lawyer and reminds him that no one can know that it’s Tayyar helping him get out of prison. On his way out, the lawyer mentions that he located Mert, he was seen leaving Elif’s house – so maybe that’s why he hasn’t been mentioned as a potential kidney doner, Tayyar didn’t know where he was.

Asli and Nilu are watching TV. Asli tries to share popcorn but Nilu doesn’t want any and Asli wants to know why since she made it with love for Nilu! LOL Mert walks in and once again Asli is cold. Nilu tries to tell her to be nice and she gets disgusted instead and leaves the room. Nilu apologizes for Asli but Mert says not to worry he doesn’t take Asli seriously and Nilu says that’s good. They don’t bond any further though because Mert makes the mistake of mentioning Fatih and telling Nilu about how he warned Fatih off. Nilu is not happy with his interference and Mert isn’t happy with the idea that Nilu might still have feelings for Fatih. Nilu ends up leaving the room telling Mert that he and everyone else can just leave her alone.

Huseyin, Pelo and Arda all arrive at the hospital and Huseyin is going off about Omer telling them about the newest hospital stint the way he did. He’s really upset about how he learned – I think by voicemail or text? But when they open Omer’s room they find both Omer and Elif asleep in the bed and cuddled up together. The scene is so cute and endearing that all three can’t help but smile and all protests are silenced as they turn around and leave the room.

Next morning, Omer wakes in bed and looks to a sleeping Elif. He runs his fingers along the side of her face and thanks God for the gift of her. Elif wakes up and says good morning and says it’s possible to wake up happy even in a hospital with you’re with the one you love. You can be happy anywhere… they continue to exchange sappy heartfelt sentiments and are about to kiss when a nurse enters. The entire mood is completely shattered for Elif however when it quickly becomes evident that Omer is still in an all-fire hurry to leave the hospital and go interview Fatih.

Fatih is still trying to write his letter to Nilu telling her she is his hope and he once again crumples up the paper and throws it on the floor with a half dozen other papers. He’s interrupted by his lawyer arriving.

Nasat is picking up Tayyar and he confirms that Omer is still in the hospital. Tayyar says to call his men and make sure Omer doesn’t get in to see Fatih.

The doctor is telling Omer no driving, and he needs to rest, no moving! Sami arrives and he’s clearly there to pick up Omer. Elif tries to talk to Sami alone and tell him that the doctor says Omer is not well and shouldn’t be going to see Fatih but Sami is unmoved. He tells her that Omer cares about the case more than anything even more than her and she needs to get use to it. Sami even questions whether she’s worried about Omer or if she just likes telling him what to do! Omer walks out the door saying goodbye to the doctor and barely spares Elif a glance before taking off with Sami. Elif looks defeated but says nothing. Omer doesn’t quite make it all the way down the hall before turning back and telling Elif that she’s tired and she should go home and rest, he will check in with her later. Elif sighs and gives in asking that Omer at least agree not to drive. The doctor says he needs to not move his arm for a few days. Sami agrees to this much and says he’ll do the driving. Elif still looks depressed, but Omer tells her to change her expression, today is a good day! It’s the last day of Tayyar! Elif hugs Omer and he leaves.

Fatih meets with his lawyer, and he thinks Omer is finally there, but his lawyer says not yet, he’s there for another reason. He came to give him good news.

Sami and Omer are driving to the jail, and Sami wants to know what the doctor said but he didn’t talk to Omer, he talked to Elif and as Omer put it, Elif is just like a woman too worried about him. They decide everything is going to be fine once Fatih makes his statement, but they are wrong because Fatih is walking out of the jail as they speak! A free man! He’s just putting on his amulet… too bad Tayyar is waiting for him. He calls him son and says he’s so happy to see him well.

Elif calls Huseyin and tells him what the doctor said about Omer’s arm. She tells him that Omer didn’t want to listen to her or the doctor but maybe he will listen to Huseyin, he needs to talk to him. Huseyin says he will. Elif says maybe they should even get a second opinion. Huseyin tells Elif he will talk to Omer and then he will get back to her. Elif says okay, see you later and hangs up.

Tayyar really puts on the dotting father act trying to convince Fatih that he wants to reconcile. He calls him son several times and asks if he got his letter. He says he’s not good with words and reiterates that he wants a chance to be a father. Fatih thinks he wants to kill him but won’t do it out on the street. Tayyar asks him to come home and even gives him a hug but Fatih doesn’t return it, he says he isn’t going there so Tayyar can kill him in the privacy of his house. Fatih is about to walk away but Tayyar stops his retreat by telling him that his mother is preparing them a welcome home meal and surely, he isn’t going to leave him to eat it all by himself, is he? The thinly veiled threat hits the spot and Fatih spins on daddy, ‘You have my mother! Where is she?’

Elif finally gets home, and a frantic Nilu confronts her sister says she’s been calling her since yesterday. What has happened, Elif asks with great concern, but Nilu is looking around worried about Asli overhearing.

Fatih is now driving with Tayyar who is still calling him ‘hijo’ and trying to say this is not what he thinks. He wants peace. Fatih doesn’t believe any of this of course, and says daddy is making him tired, where is his mom? In our house, dad says, waiting for you.

KPA 72 part 4 of 4

Omer and Sami are at the jail now finding out that Fatih is out. Omer is PISSED and blaming Tayyar, but Sami is blaming Elif and Nilu!!! This doesn’t sit well with Omer because even with the dropped charges this moved too swiftly Tayyar must be behind it. Sami thinks otherwise, they didn’t have enough proof of money laundering yet, their biggest leverage against Fatih was the kidnapping charges and when Elif and Nilu dropped them they had nothing. Omer says it’s not over, the trial is in a month, so they have a month to make the case – that is if Tayyar doesn’t kill Fatih first. Sami doesn’t think he’s cold blooded enough to kill his own son but Omer thinks he’s exactly the type of man to do just that, so they had better find Fatih fast!

Tayyar and Fatih arrive at some home and Tayyar asks him how he likes it, calling it their new house and Fatih says it will be easier for him to do his job there and Tayyar keeps up the charade talking about how it’s the perfect paradise. Something about horses and stables and how much land they have…I was too busy wondering if the man had actually lost it to listen to all the details. He attempts to take Fatih by the arm calling him son again but Fatih yanks away and asks if Tayyar actually thinks he is a child? Did he buy him candy too? Fatih doesn’t have time for this BS, where is his mother?

Elif walks in on Asli watching a movie. Honestly Asli looked nervous as hell and she asked where Elif has been, saying she was worried, she asks if Omer is okay. Elif admits to Asli that Omer might never be able to use his arm the same again. Asli wonders how Omer feels about that and Elif says she didn’t tell him. Asli says Elif needs to tell him, Omer is a policeman, and his job is very important to him this is something he needs to know. Elif admits that Asli is right but she just didn’t have the heart to tell Omer, she says that whenever she has bad news for someone she cares about and she knows it will hurt them, she just can’t bring herself to say it. She always makes the same mistake. Asli says Elif is like their mother in that way. Elif takes a deep breath and admits to Asli that she’s been keeping something from her too. What Asli says, is it Can? Can is fine, Elif quickly assures. Then what is it, Asli asks. Elif hesitates for a moment longer but then tells her sister what she has to, you aren’t pregnant, she admits. How can you say that? Asli asks, thinking that’s crazy but Elif explains that Asli lost the baby in the hospital before they lost their mother. She even tells Asli that their mother authorized a procedure to force Asli to abort because she didn’t want her to be off her meds. Asli doesn’t want to believe it and says she saw the doctor that day and he said everything was fine, but Elif tells her that they asked the doctor to tell her that lie and confirms once again that it’s been a while now since there’s been no baby living inside of Asli. And as tears start running down Asli’s face our episode ends.
