Howdy from the Alamo City CarayCaray Family. Here's my super-short recap of last night's episode.
*Dondi356: The stupidity of Paco & Whiny Angela continues to amaze me. I will shed zero tears if they both get whacked.
*Unless Ismael & Co., rescue Diana, I don't see her surviving the torture chamber of Crazy Rancho.
*Lucy: One of these days you're going to Mess Around & Find Out sooner or later.
*More intimidation tactics from Crazy Vic & Ofelia.
*Enfreida is super HOT.
*Still interested about Roberta & Ligia.
Lots of pivotal info last night. Alya got a double whammy. The calls were from her bio mom, who shows up. Sadakat was absolutely gleeful at this. She seems sort of a free spirit. Someone (Alya?) described as a bar worker. Looks down on her luck. Alya seems to hate her. Deniz doesn’t recognize her.
On top of that, Ugur told her about Boran and she finally sees the danger to Deniz from Ecmel.
Things are really percolating!!!

Alya had a lot of bombs dropped on her last night.
Alya told Cihan that Fiko was a konsomatris (hostess) in a pavyon (pavilion). A pavyon is a seedy nightclub. The hostesses chat, drink, dance, and, yes, they will have sex with the customers. Wait until Sada learns that!
Her pitiful explanation and apology to Cihan generated little sympathy from me after the way she went after him for Mine and Meryem. I guess we will hear the sad story of her childhood next. Does Alya even know who her father is? I wonder how Caroline “rescued” her and took her to Canada.
Ugur better disappear before Sada has someone “disappear” him. I don’t know what he thought to gain by spilling the beans. If he’s from the region, he knows these people are dangerous.
deb, is that you bringing us Sin Seños news? Whoever it is, thanks! I'm looking forward to it.
Dondi - refresh me. Did I snooze off? Whose apology, about what?
What’s with these people arranging to meet secretly out in the middle of nowhere where they’re very visible from far off? And how do they arrange the spot? “Rock number 381”?
Maggie
Yes, that was a very interesting episode. dondi, as usual, you were right on about why Alya was so upset about those calls she was getting, i.e. someone from her past. My guess was Demir, but it was long lost mamá.
So, that fender bender in the road introduced Fikrit on her way to the Albora konak. I wondered what the point of that was. Of course, we got to see Sadakat threatening to kill someone once again after the small car crash. But her distaste for the woman melted away when she got an opportunity to be cruel to Alya, and she let her right in.
Maggie, good one about the numbered rock.
Cihan delegated Muzaffer to find Ugur ASAP. Somehow, I doubt they'll kill him, but it wouldn't bother me a bit to see a beatdown. He was just being spiteful. I also thought he looked a bit hopeful that Alya might be grateful and give him a chance when he dropped the bomb about Ecmel being Deniz's granddad.
Alya being so upset she crashes the car was over the top. I'd have preferred Cihan overtaking her car and pulling in front to bring her to a stop. And she certainly is a mess about Ecmel. Luckily, she crashed into some piled up tires and not a brick wall. But she went on and on about her guilt for risking Deniz's life for crashing into anything.
It now seems, at least to me, inevitable that Ecmel finds out about Boran having been his child. This is definitely a case of nurture winning out over nature.
Maggie, Alya sobbed to Cihan: I’m sorry I lied to you about my bio mother… I couldn’t tell you. But if I said anything, it would be like everything I’ve buried over the years suddenly came to light, and I couldn’t do it. I was too scared… I’m sorry. But Alya went ballistic because Cihan didn’t tell her about Mine or Meryem.
Lol “Rock number 381” … I must remember that for later use. Thanks, Maggie.
Howdy from the Alamo City CarayCaray Family. Here's my super-short recap of last night's episode (I only caught some of it):
*Diana still in the torture chamber of Crazy Rancho.
*Gullible Angela is getting on my damn nerves LOL.
*Ismael & Co., making plans in rescuing Diana if they can get there in time.
*General Cifuentes still upping the ante even further.
*President Carmela is still quite intriguing 🤔.
*I would have no problem seeing another spin-off between Leo & La Mamba.

Episode 54 #1
Ave Fenix – The Phoenix
Alya: I’m so sorry.
Cihan: you don’t have to apologize for this.
Alya: I’m sorry that I lied to you about my biological mother. I couldn’t tell you.
Cihan: I don’t know what your biological mother put you through or what she did to you but just know that I’m very upset with her right now.
Alya: She worked at a bar. She was a hostess. That’s how she made a living. She brought men to our home every night. It was disgusting. I begged her to stop bringing those men over, but she just ignored me. She kept bringing over a different man every night for years and years, Cihan. Over time, I grew up, and I became a woman, and then those filthy men took an interest in me. One day, something terrifying happened and I couldn’t stay, so I left. I couldn’t take it anymore and left with Cansu.
Cihan: Cansu, your friend in the United States that you were going to live with?
Alya: Yes, she knew. That woman (her mother) knew exactly why I left, and she didn’t do anything about it. Later, Caroline appeared.
Cihan: Your mother.
Alya: She was our English teacher. She got close to Cansu and asked her what was going on, and she told her. So, Caroline wanted to talk to me. And that’s how we got to know each other. She said the nicest things and was a real breath of fresh air. She told me she didn’t have any children and had always wanted to be a mother. She offered to adopt me, and it was wonderful.
Cihan: So, Caroline saved you?
Alya: I wish. If it had been that easy, I wouldn’t hate that woman (her mother) so much. Maybe I would have forgiven her.
Cihan: What happened, Alya?
Alya: When she found out about Caroline, she asked for money, 300,000E. She wanted money in return. She sold me. So, Caroline took me to Canada immediately. At that moment, she became my mother. The best mother in the world.
Cihan: You are a great woman. Did your mother ever try to contact you?
Alya: Of course. She was always calling. She was persistent. But I rejected her. I didn’t want to see her face or hear her horrible voice. So, I rejected her and never wanted to see her again. And when she found out I’d given birth to Deniz, she insisted on wanting to see him, so I sent her a picture. (We see Fiko caressing a picture of Alya, Boran, and Deniz.) And that was that until she was shameless enough to come see me.
Cihan: We can’t choose our family.
Alya: No, we can’t, but at least we know who they are. I don’t even have that. I don’t even know who my father is. I never met him. She doesn’t know who got her pregnant. Can you imagine? What would they say about me? What will Ms. Sadakat say now that she knows about my past? Anyway, this is me, Cihan. Think whatever you want, it doesn’t matter.
He reaches over to cover her with the red blanket: I analyzed your behavior ever since you came to this house. I watched you and lived with you and understood you, and I realize who you are.
Alya: Great.
Cihan: You’re a phoenix. There’s a reason I gave you that locket. It doesn’t matter what you went through. It doesn’t matter what people did to you. You always find a way to rise from the ashes.
We see a hint of a smile on Alya.
Cihan: I’m leaving. Try to get some rest.
He watches her for a while. As he turns to leave, Alya says: Cihan? Where is she?
Cihan: At a hotel.
Alya: I want her to leave. I don’t want to see her again. I want her gone.

Episode 54 #2
The next day, we see Demir closely examine a wedding band: What? Where’s the inscription? He tries cutting it and finds out it is steel. You idiot! You have no idea what waits you. (This is probably directed at Kaya, who IIRC switched the rings.)
Zerrin enters: I’m leaving.
Demir: You got all dressed up? Where are we going?
Zerrin: I’m going to the university. You promised. You said I could finish school.
Demir: Yes, I’m not opposed. You can go, but what will you do afterward? I won’t let you work.
Zerrin: Demir, I’m going to finish school. You promised.
Demir: Go ahead.
Back at Albora konak.
Cihan comes in to see Alya. She is ready for work. He asks how she is, and she says fine.
Cihan: I’m glad.
Alya: I was in no shape to talk yesterday. Do you think Ugur told anyone? Should I talk to him?
Cihan: They’re still looking for him. When they find him, then we’ll see.
Alya: Please don’t do anything to him. I’ll talk to him.
Cihan: We have to find him first. Then we’ll see.
Alya agrees.
Cihan leaves and walks down the stairs. He gets his phone out and calls Ugur. Ugur (in a hotel room or apartment) sits on the bed and doesn’t answer. Cihan hangs up.
Muzaffer comes up the outside stairs.
Cihan: What did you do?
Muzaffer: We’ve got men watching his father’s house round the clock. He hasn’t gone there nor has he gotten on a plane. There’s no record of him going to any hospitals in Mardin or Diyarbakir. Don’t worry. I’ll find that infeliz.
Cihan: Hey, (and he gives Muzaffer a nod, that Muzaffer seems to understand. I’m thinking it’s not good news for Ugur, whenever they find him.)
Two cars pull up on a highway. Demir and Zerrin get out of the first car. We also see Sahin’s truck. Sahin gets out and starts walking.
Demir tells Zerrin to enjoy her classes. She starts walking and notices Sahin.
He calls her over. He takes her hand, and she resists. Then Demir gets started: What’s the problem?
Sahin tells him to stay out of it.
Demir: Wait up, brother-in-law. She’s my wife.
Sahin takes out a handgun: Don’t try my patience.
Demir calms down his henchies, saying: He’s family. Sahin, why are you behaving like this?
Sashin: Get out of here.
Zerrin: That’s enough, brother. I have to get to class.
Sahin puts his gun back in his waistband: Mom wants to see you, Zerrin.
Demir: You should’ve said so earlier. I could have taken her.
Sahin takes Zerrin’s hand and says: We’re leaving.
Demir: Stop. We’re family. Why are you doing this? This is benefitting you. What more do you want from us?
Sahin: Go away and leave us alone. Let’s go.
Demir laughs and then says he will pick up his wife that evening.
Sahin drives off with Zerrin.

Episode 54 #3
At the Albora konak.
Nare asks Alya how she is doing while they are standing looking out over the main balcony.
Alya: Fine, all things considered.
Nare: Unfortunately, you can’t choose your mother.
Alya: That’s right. Ms. Sadakat and I have never seen eye to eye, but I have to admit that your mother would give her life for you. While that woman wouldn’t move a finger for me. She wouldn’t do anything for me.
Nare, sighs: And yet you became a mother who’d do anything for her son.
Sadakat comes walking up: Have you thought about what will happen when my grandson finds out what kind of woman your mother is?
Nare: Mother,
Alya interrupts: Shhh.
Sadakat: Did Boran know what kind of woman he was married to? Would he have married you? I doubt it.
Alya turns her back on Sadakat.
Sadakat continues ranting and Alya faces her again: Who knows what else you’re lying to us about. What other surprises are there to discover? Did that disgusting woman offer you to men to be their plaything?
Alya can’t believe what she is saying.
Nare: What’s wrong with you, Mom? Be quiet.
Sadakat: Did she sell you for some coins? Answer me.
Cihan thankfully arrives.
Cihan: Mother!
Alya turns away slowly, staring hard at Sadakat.
Cihan: What’s wrong with you, Mom? Cut it out. Go upstairs. I’ll be there in a second so we can talk.
Alya is fighting back tears. Nare goes to her: She’s just doing this to hurt you. You know my mother very well. Don’t pay attention to her.
Alya: It’s OK. I’m fine.
Nare, hugging her: Calm down.
Upstairs, Sadakat is pacing in her room. Cihan enters, slamming the door.
Cihan: I’m ashamed of you, Mom. So ashamed.
Sadakat: You’re ashamed of your mother? You should be ashamed of your wife instead.
Cihan: Yes, you’ve never behaved like this.
Sadakat: Don’t disrespect me. Watch it. What have I done for your to be embarrassed of me?
Cihan: Why would you say something like that to Alya? It’s slander. Come to your senses, I’m begging you. You can’t be so insensitive. What you’re doing is sinful. Can you really not see that? If you continue to say such things, I swear I’ll send Alya and Cihan far away from here. And you’ll never see them again. I’m warning you.
Sadakat: Do it. Just try it. But if something happens to them, it’ll be your fault. Send them away. You’d only be helping Boran’s killers to find them.
Cihan: I won’t fall for your tricks.
Sadakat: Do it, so Ecmel can take my grandson from you too and Sahin can finally defeat you.
Cihan: Sure.
Sadakat: He’ll take control and move into the mansion, Cihan.
Cihan: Yup.
Sadakat: And that’s just the beginning. Ecmel will give your wife to Sahin, you’ll see.
That last comment pushed Cihan over the edge. His face is a thundercloud, and he turns and punches a hole in the wall, over and over, saying, “is that enough?”, over and over?
Sadakat: No, no. Please stop. She finally gets him to stop.
Cihan: I’m warning you. (He points at her with his bloody hand.) Move out of my way! (and he leaves).
Sadakat has finally listened. She looks very impactada.

Episode 54 #4
Alya is walking down to leave. Nare asks where she is going. Alya: To speak to that woman. I’ll be back. Cihan comes down the inner stairs, shaking his damaged hand. He asks where Alya is.
Nare: I couldn’t stop her. She went to see her mother.
Cihan: Alya!
He runs and catches up to her.
Alya asks: What?
Cihan: I’m sorry. I can’t let you go see your mother like this.
Alya: She has to leave.
Cihan: You’re not going in the shape you’re in.
She just noticed his hand.
Cihan: Alya, I’m sorry about my mother. She had no reason to do that. But I can’t let you go to your mother like this. Go to the hospital.
Alya: She needs to leave, Cihan.
Cihan: And you have to get to the hospital, so go to work.
Alya: OK, but let me bandage your hand and then I’ll go to work.
Cihan: Don’t worry, I can bandage it myself. Go to the hospital. I’ll go see your mother and make her leave.
Alya agrees but tells him to get his hand checked.
After she leaves, he calls his guys and leaves, not addressing his hand, of course.
At the Ecmel konak, we see Fidan and Zerrin visiting.
Fidan: If he’s a good husband, you should respond in kind.
Sahin looks away in exasperation.
Fidan: You need to be tolerant with him. The Baybars are a very powerful tribe. Sahin also obtained the land. If they join forces, there’ll be nobody to defeat us and we’ll be indestructible.
Sahin: I’m not working with Demir, Mom, end of discussion. Come, sis.
Fidan: Where are you taking her?
Sahin: To talk in my room. Come on.
Zerrin says she will be right back. Her mother reminds her that Demir is picking her up.
He takes Zerrin outside, and she asks what’s going on. He tells her to stop asking questions and takes her to a door, telling her to enter. Surprise, it’s Kaya waiting in the room!
Sahin: He insisted he needed to talk to you. Don’t ask why I did it. You have five minutes. (to Kaya) Go out that door when your time’s up.
Zerrin: Did you come to spit in my face?
Kaya: You broke my heart.
Zerrin: You know I did it to save my brother.
Kaya: You should’ve told me you were being threatened.
Zerrin: What would you have done?
Kaya: I would have taken the recording from him if I had to. I would have killed him for that video, Zerrin.
Zerrin: So, you would’ve killed Demir while trying to help my brother and ended up in jail. That was your plan?
Kaya: I’d rather kill Demir and rot in jail than see you with another man.
Zerrin: We tried, Kaya, but we couldn’t do it, you understand?
Kaya: You’re always giving up on us. Zerrin, look at me. It’s obvious why he took you. I can’t give him what he wants. I won’t do it. I won’t be the man who watches another man love you.
Zerrin: Forget me. Forget me because I’m Demir’s wife now. Demir and I have to be together. She turns and leaves.

At a hotel, Cihan locates Fiko, enjoying a meal on the balcony.
Fiko: Your mother-in-law is happy to see you. What happened to your hand?
Cihan: That doesn’t matter. May I sit down?
Fiko: Of course. By now, Alya must’ve poisoned you against me.
Cihan: She didn’t have to tell me anything. I have eyes.
Fiko: So, you’re here to judge me. How could you take your brother’s wife? How did you digest that?
Cihan: Speaking of digestion, your food looks great. I hope you enjoy it. When you’re finished, (he takes a plane ticket to Istanbul out of his pocket), I want you to leave.
Fiko: I said I’m not leaving.
Cihan looks away for a bit, then asks: What’s your price?
Fiko: That’s a good question. What if I said 300,000E? Did she tell you how I sold her when she was a kid? You want to hear my side of it, too?
Cihan gestures no: I don’t have time for that. I’d rather just give you the money.
Fiko: Think about it like this. Caroline was a foreigner. I saw it as easy money. But, my conscience won’t let me steal from my daughter’s husband. So, I’m not going. I’M NOT LEAVING!
Cihan: I’m trying to be nice here. You will leave.
Fiko: You must be powerful. Being the head of the Alboras has its advantages.
Cihan: The clock’s ticking, ma’am.
Fiko: Death is knocking on my door.
Cihan stops, turns and listens.
Fiko: I’m sick. I want to spend what little time I have left with my poor daughter. I can’t leave.
Cihan stares at her, probably trying to decide if she is lying.
Kaya and Cihan are sitting together somewhere outside.
Kaya: This is too much. Just yesterday we were eating and drinking and talking about our problems. I thought it would be like that forever. That we’d be together, Zerrin in my heart and you in my family. But I’ve lost both of you. Sahin, Nare asked for a divorce.
Sahin: Your sister is getting divorced?
Kaya: She was talking to Erol the day you saw her at the office.
Nare on her patio gets a call. Pakize (taking care of Deniz) notices that she goes to answer it in private.
Sahin: Good morning, Nare.
Nare: Why are you calling me?
We see Sadakat spying on her from the high balcony!
Sahin: I want to see you.
Nare: What for?
Sahin: I’ll tell you when I see you.
Nare: Is there something to talk about?
Sahin: I’ll see you at the pier. Please come.
She hangs up and then notices her mother up above.
In Ozkan’s office.
He gets a call from Sadakat.
Ozkan: I was just about to call you, ma’am. Nare’s asking for a divorce.
Sadakat: You’ll be worthless as a man if you give it to her. Come for your wife. Trust me.
Ozkan: I’ll be there.

In Alya’s office
Alya is doing paperwork and then picks up her phone to make a call.
Cihan answers.
Alya: You did it, didn’t you?
Cihan: I gave her the ticket.
Alya: When is she leaving? Tonight?
Cihan: Tomorrow.
Alya: OK. Cihan, please have your men go to the airport and not come back until they’ve put her on the plane and watched it take off.
Cihan: Can we talk tonight?
Alya: There’s nothing to talk about. I won’t be at peace until that woman leaves. Please. Any news on Ugur?
Cihan: Not yet. Let me know if you hear anything.
They hang up. Alya tells herself she needs to calm down.
There is a knock on the door. A nurse tells her a patient’s out of surgery and was taken to her room.
Alya: OK, I’ll be right there.
Her phone rings and it’s Ugur. She answers.
Ugur: Are you alone? Cihan’s not with you, right?
Alya: I’m alone.
Ugur: Everything I told you is true, isn’t it?
Alya: I need to know if you’ve told anyone else.
Ugur: We need to meet. But, if you tell Cihan about this, there’ll be consequences to deal with.
Alya: When and where?
Ugur: You’re probably being watched, so leaving would be risky. I’ll find a way into the hospital. You know the warehouse on the first floor? I’ll see you there in one hour, OK?
Alya looks dubious but goes to leave. She probably has a henchie outside her office. Oh no! Worse than a henchie! It’s Mine!!!
Mine: Your husband is now the owner of the hospital. Congratulations.
Alya: I’m in a hurry, Mine.
Mine: And his first action was to fire Ugur Kilinc, a gesture worthy of admiration.
Alya: Mine, I told you I’m in a rush.
Mine: But what do you care? Not like you should feel guilty or anything.
Alya stops and turns at this: What are you doing? What is this?
Mine: You used him to make Cihan jealous and then got him fired. That’s what I’m referring to. I hope you’re enjoying it.
Alya: Very much. I even celebrated when he broke things off with you for good. You love to provoke people, don’t you?
At the Albora konak, Nare sees her mother and Ozkan talking.
Sadakat: You know my daughter. You’re not getting divorced. You have to be firm. I will be.
Nare: Mom! Why did you let him in?
Sadakat: Why wouldn’t’ I? I’m the one who called him. That’s enough. Don’t look at me like that. This can’t be fixed with a piece of paper.
Ozkan, tearing up the papers: I’m not getting divorced, Nare. You hear me?
Nare: Yes, you will. We’re getting divorced even if you don’t want to.
Pakize to Ummu: You see? She’s still doing things behind Cihan’s back. (I assume “she” is Sadakat.)
Ummu: But he’ll find out, you’ll see.
Back to the divorcing couple:
Sadakat: Your place is with him.
Ozkan runs after Nare: Where do you think you’re going?
Sadakat tells him to run faster to catch up to her, but Nare reaches her car and drives off.

Nare: I can’t trust you anymore. You know how many times I waited for you? What did you always tell me? “Go home, Nare.” So you can wait for me like I did.
Sahin: Then, why’d you come?
Nare: I wanted you to feel the same thing, understand? I want you to wait for me like I did. I waited hours for you, so tell me, how does it feel?
Sahin: You’re right. I’m sorry.
Back at the hospital
Kadir and Muzaffer are sitting in a car watching.
Kadir: Wasn’t he fired? What are we doing here?
Muzaffer: Criminals always return to the scene of the crime.
Ugur is disguised with dark glasses and a baseball cap. He bumps into someone on the way in, and his cap is knocked off. Muzaffer says: What did I tell you?
They call Cihan, who is meeting with Erol.
Muzaffer: Ugur just entered the hospital through the ER. We’re following him.
Cihan leaves Erol and heads to the hospital.
Nare and Sahin are still talking.
Sahin: Why didn’t you tell me you wanted a divorce?
Nare: Who told you?
Sahin: That doesn’t matter. What difference does it make? You should have told me first.
Nare: What would have changed?
Sahin: A lot.
Nare: It changed nothing and you know it. You think Ozkan was the problem? Ozkan was part of my escape. You and I are each other’s obstacles, Sahin. We didn’t defend our love. Nothing has changed and nothing’s going to change. Your lust for power will make us enemies before we’re lovers.
Sahin: Don’t say that. We’ve never been enemies and never will be.
Nare: Does that mean you’ll stop coming for the land?
Sahin: I realized the only way to have you is by obtaining the Albora territory.
Nare: What?
Sahin: Do you think your mother would give you to the old Sahin? Or that my family would accept it? It would be the same story. But, if I become strong, nobody can take you away from me ever. Nobody would dare. I wouldn’t allow it.
Nare: Sahin, I can’t.
Sahin: Nare,
Nare: I can’t betray my family. That’s impossible.
She walks to her car.
Sahin: Wait, Nare. Please don’t do this to us. Don’t go.
They look intently into each other’s eyes.
Sahin: Please don’t leave me.
Nare stares at him for a bit, slams her car door shut without getting in and runs to kiss him. They hug for a long time. [I kept worrying her heels would get wet when she was so close to the water!]
Sahin closes in for another kiss, and Nare stops him [Might be worried about fines from the censors!]
Nare: We shouldn’t see each other, at least not till after the divorce.
Sahin agrees. More hugging.

Ugur: I’m here, Alya. Be careful.
Alya: Alright.

Nare turns and leaves without a word.
Back at the hospital
Alya reaches the basement storage room.
Alya: Ugur, are you here?
Ugur: Did someone follow you?
Alya: No, you can relax. All right, tell me. Did you tell anyone what you found out about my son? I need to know.
Ugur: No.
Alya: As you know, this is important news. And you don’t strike me as the type to hurt others.
Ugur: But your husband is. Don’t forget that he hurt you. And me. He ruined my life.
Alya: Ugur, that’s enough.
Ugur searches for words: Last night, my mother died.
Alya: Really? I’m so sorry. My condolences. [Please don’t hug, I’m thinking! I’m sure Cihan or someone is listening to this in that dark warehouse.]
Ugur: That’s why I wanted to see you. But now, I can’t go to her funeral because Cihan will catch me.
Alya: If you don’t tell anyone (about Boran), Cihan won’t mess with you. He wouldn’t dare.
Ugur: You think he wouldn’t dare? Don’t you know who you’re married to? With what I know, you think they’ll spare my life? They’re going to kill me, Alya.
Alya: Cihan would never hurt you. Just promise you won’t say anything and I can assure you that Cihan won’t hurt you. We’ll figure something out.
Ugur: On one condition. I applied to practice medicine in Canada. I was accepted.
Alya: That’s good news.
Ugur: You come, too, Alya. You can go back to the hospital where you used to work. Bring your son with you and let’s get out of here.
Alya: But I can’t go. You go, Ugur. Go back to Canada and promise you won’t say anything and I won’t tell Cihan you came to the hospital.
Ugur: Alya, I’m, trying to do you a favor. Your son will always be exposed to danger as long as you’re married to Cihan Albora.
Alya: No, I told you I can’t.
Ugur: In that case, Ecmel Albora will know everything. [Uh oh!]
Alya is impactada.

Babachita
Babachita...thank you for that great recap with all the details of anger,, frustration , and danger.
Ugar is playing with dynamite . Will be survive his infatuation with Alya?
I am getting a little tired of Sahin and Nare going around and around .
The " I'm going to kill you\her\him\them merry go round goes round and round with no resolution in sight . susan
Most excellent, Babachita!! Outstanding job!
The writers are all over the place. Alya tells Nare that she has a mother who would give her life for her, and then later Sadaket tries to thwart the divorce so Nare will have to return to her abusive husband. Sigh.
Maggie
Cihan was just perfect again while Alya told him the awful story of her childhood with Fiko. [By the way, what is her full name? I heard it once and thought it was Fikrit, but Google tells me that’s not a woman’s name in Turkey.] Cihan listened and let her tell the awful story and get relief from finally saying it out loud. He didn’t look horrified or try to hold her. He just listened, with a couple of questions. I wonder if that terrible guy just made a pass or was she raped?
Ugur was practically whimpering in his hidey hole when Cihan called him
I’m on outrage overload. The things Sadakat said to Alya. Calling Ozkan. She’s supposed to be so astute, so I’m sure she’s aware of what a loser he is. But to her it’s far better that her daughter endures a miserable life at his side than be with Ecmel’s child.
And I have no sympathy for Fidan. We get a lecture from her about being “tolerant” to a complete snake like Demir. She’s bought the patriarchy line completely. Zerrin is supposed to keep this marriage together so Ecmel and Sahin will prosper. I was surprised Sahin helped them talk it out. But, of course, Zerrin didn’t ease Kaya’s mind by telling him it was a sexless marriage.
After the number of dizis I’ve seen, I am still amazed at the quantity of food they show, whether it’s for one person or a table full of people. What was on Fiko’s plate would be enough calories for the whole day, and there were other serving dishes yet untouched. And, speaking of Fiko, there’s obviously no way we’d get rid of that irritant so quickly.
I laughed at “Mine, worse than a henchie”. I am loving the way Alya now just shuts her down. She needs to start sharpening her tongue more when Sadakat gets going. When she thought Mine was going to follow her toward where Ugur was, she got a patient with a complaint to go to Mine with it
Ugur: “He ruined my life.” He just got a presumably good paying job in Canada. Please, writers, let Muzaffer and Kadir get hold of him tonight.
Lobo has a great cast. Fyi, for Hugo fans in Monteverde, that actor (Christian Ramos) will be in this new novela.
Babachita
Thanks for the excellent recap, Babachita.
I love mealtime on dizis. The amount and variety of food is incredible. It makes me hungry.
Fiko is making sure she gets the most on Cihan's dime. Yep, she won't give that up so easily. Should we believe that she's sick or is it a scam?
There were somethings in Alya's childhood story that didn't translate well. It was a bit more detailed. She said that Cansu's family opened their door for her, they immediately embraced her. They were attentive and helped her a lot. Cihan said, God bless them. Cansu told their English teacher, Caroline. Caroline told Alya, I don't have a child, come be my child. Alya said that was beautiful, but she wanted her bio mother to love her. She was waiting for her love. Alya also said that Caroline sold a house she had in Canada to pay Fiko. Cihan said, God bless her, too.
Thank you for the much better translations. Interesting Alya yearned for her bio mother to love her. I guess that makes some sense. Probably everyone wishes somewhere deep down that our parents love us, no matter how flawed they might be. I don’t know whether to believe Fiko’s mortally ill or not. She’s not to be trusted, I’m afraid.

#55 – Part 1 of 4
We again see Ugur ask Alya to come back to Canada with him. She says she can’t leave. She promises him she won’t tell Cihan he came to the hospital, but he needs to leave. He says that then he’ll tell Ecmel everything. Alya, distraught, says that this makes no sense. Is it to get revenge on Cihan? Revenge is the only thing I want in life is his reply. [Nah, Ugur, you want Alya in your bed.] He tells her she has two days to decide.
Ugur comes out of the storage room and sees Cihan, Muzaffer and Kadir approaching. He manages to get away in a taxi.
There’s another fight between Cihan and Alya. He’s mad she didn’t tell him Ugur called. He insists on knowing what Ugur said to her. Alya stalls, saying Ugur has done things just because he hates Cihan and is also afraid of him. Alya finally spits it out: if she doesn’t go to Canada with Ugur, he’ll tell Ecmel about his grandson. Cihan says what Viewerville is sure of; he wants you for himself. Cihan says that this is between Ugur and himself. Don’t get involved.
Alya asks when “that woman” is leaving. Cihan is on the spot. He hands Alya the ticket meant for Fiko to fly to Istanbul. Alya is angry and says she should have gone herself to deal with her. She asks why she wouldn’t leave, then answers her own question. She’s after Cihans money. Cihan says that Fiko said she was sick. Do you believe that? She’s lying. Alyla embarks on a long rant about how Fiko has her whole life been egotistical, arrogant and lying all the time. Cihan asks if she has any nice memory of her childhood that might calm her. No! Alya says she began to create memories with his brother, Boran. Before that, nothing. Now she has buried those memories as well (after seeing Boran’s video, I think). She only has memories with her son, no one else. Looking hurt, Cihan says: And me? I’m trying to hear what else he’s saying, but the subtitles are crappy and that %^&$% song is drowning out what he says. It doesn’t help that one can’t read lips in a dizi. I think the gist was his offering her a family.
Cihan brings Alya to see Fiko. She’s so traumatized that it takes her a while to knock. Fiko: “I didn’t expect you to miss me so soon. Come in.” Alya thrusts the ticket toward her. Fiko says that it’s as wrinkled as her grandmother. What have you got to say? You’re pretending to be sick. I’m not the 5-year-old who believed you anymore. Fiko says that her red riding hood finally realized that she’s the wolf. Congratulations! I get it that I wasn’t a mother like others. I couldn’t give you a father. When you were crying about my absences, I went to those bars, sat at tables with those men, inhaling their awful breath. I sold you to that Caroline. I don’t deny it. I did all that. But I’ve never lied to you, my dear daughter.
Alya tells her not to call her that. I can’t bear to listen to you. You’ve never been a mother to me. Caroline is my mother. Fiko: I gave you that, a mother you could love. What if you’d stayed with me in that disaster? You went to Canada. You were always too intelligent. You studied. You’re a doctor. Would you have been able to go to those schools if you’d stayed with me? I was the one who saved you. You sold me! As if I were an object or a property. Caroline sacrificed everything for me, and that’s the difference between the two of you. Fiko: And what could I have done? How could I protect you in that filthy world of men?
#55 – Part 2 of 4
Alya says that Fiko has no idea how much she hates her. You can keep hating me. I did it so your son won’t hate me as well. Fiko picks up the ticket, saying she’ll iron it. Alya leaves, looking very distressed. She tells Cihan Fiko will leave. She’s not sick.
Fiko starts packing, she primps in front of the mirror, telling herself she’ll be fine. And then she faints dead away.
Cihan brings Alya to work. She says, with a little smile, that she needs to get inside or the boss might fire her for being late. Cihan says the boss only gets upset when she’s on the night shift. Smiling, he says he doesn’t want to see her on the nocturnal list anymore. She asks if he’s found Ugur. He bristles and asks why she’s asking. Don’t interfere (said in a pleading tone not an angry one). She then says she should go inside lest the boss dock her a day’s pay.
Sigh. Mine is outside and pounces on Cihan. She tells him she should call him boss. She snarks that she’s surprised he hasn’t fired her. He wishes her a good day and walks away. Then she asks why he’s searching for Ugur. What makes you think I’m looking for him? She replies that Demir told her. And that Demir is trying to find Ugur before Cihan can do so. [Oh no. Mine almost faints. Please let this not be what it always means in telenovelas.]
Sihan has come to the prison. Ecmel must be spreading around the bribes, because he’s in what looks like a classroom with plenty of privacy. Sahin asks what Demir is doing there. Demir calls him brother-in-law and asks him to sit. Ecmel begins. Demir has an arrangement with some clans to move merch through his lands. Halis also has some contracts. Sahin says he’s not interested. Ecmel says that Sahin will also begin moving things. You should collaborate with Demir and Halis. They’ll give you a piece of the other shipments. Sahin refuses outright.
Demir says that Cihan and Nadim work together so why shouldn’t they. Sahin replies that Cihan won’t let drugs and heavy weaponry cross his land. And I won’t either. If you think it’s good, go ahead. Ecmel leans forward to snarl that, if no drugs are permitted, no one will ever work with him. Sahin replies that, while Ecmel may not believe it, the clans are knocking at my door. The Alboras never permitted drugs in our territory, and we never will. Even if I bring down Cihan, this won’t change. It’s forbidden to pass these things through our lands. He slams his fist on the table. [This seems to be a family trait. Cihan does it too.]
Alya is walking down a corridor at Yonca hospital and sees her mother on a gurney. Alya admits to her mother’s doctor that she’s family. He says that Fiko has third stage lung cancer that’s metastasized to her glands. Alya is very concerned.
#55 – Part 3 of 4
Deniz is behaving exactly like a boy his age. He’s kind of bugging Pakize. He has a fistful of carrots and wants to go see his pony. Pakize gives him her phone, but Alya doesn’t pick up. Then he begs to call Cihan about going to see Firfir. Cihan tells him they’ll go this weekend and have a great time. The boy gets a devious look on his face.
Nadim comes to tell Cihan that Sahin met with the clans that moved away from Cihan. Other clans may be doing this. We see Sahin meeting with these guys. No drugs or heavy arms. Light arms and cigarettes are OK. Cihan will take 25% of the transaction and Sahin will take 15%. [I assume this means that the merch will move through both Cihan and Sahin’s portions of the Albora land.] The guys don’t look happy. One of them says that Sahin is a smart guy. With these prices, no one will work with Cihan.
Cihan comes to Yonca saying that Deniz couldn’t reach her, but he dealt with it. She tells him “she” is here. She wasn’t faking. She’s sick. He tells her to go to Fiko’s room. Mine lurks.
Fiko looks better with less warpaint. She makes light, saying she fainted on purpose to see Alya in her lab coat. At the hotel they got nervous and called the emergency number. She tells Cihan that only Alya could look good in a lab coat. She keeps complimenting Alya until she’s told to shut up. Fiko looks steadily at Alya. “What should I do my love? Begin to order a shroud and a coffin? Alya tells her that the doctors here are good ones. And she’ll also be caring for her. You’ll get better and after that you’ll leave.
Cihan gets a call. Sadakat is beside herself. Deniz has disappeared. [OK. Time for a novelera sidebar. I’ll say right here that I think the kid found a way to go see his pony.] But we’ll get a lot of anguish in the meantime.
Allya overhears Cihan and runs out of the hospital. She and Cihan arrive. She’s desperate. Nare says they searched everywhere. Ummu is sobbing and says he’s been gone an hour. A bunch of henchies are going to search. Kaya reminds Cihan about Ugur’s threat to tell Ecmel that Deniz is his grandson. Sadakat, sobbing, says that Ecmel took him.
Alya runs through the konak, calling for Deniz and crying. She also believes the boy had been taken by Ecmel. [She’d have felt better if she remembered that Ugur gave her two days to decide.] She blows up and tells Cihan what she always tells him: It’s all his fault! Then she ends up crying in his arms.
Gah! Mine comes into Fiko’s room because, as usual, she’s lurking in corridors and has seen Alya and Cihan go into that room. It seems like Fiko senses something off because she’s brusque with Mine. Mine wheedles some and Fiko finally says that Alya is her daughter. Fiko tells her about the issue with Deniz, and Mine starts spilling her poisoned beans, telling a sick woman the whole story about why the boy could be in danger. After she finally leaves, we get a flashback of Fiko 5 years ago, looking at a photo of Alya, Boran, and newborn Deniz. She’s telling some guy who’s there that the baby looks like her.
#55 – Part 4 of 4
Alya, Cihan, Sadakat, Nare and Kaya show up at Fidan’s konak. Sada starts right in. Cihan asks Fidan if she thinks Ecmel could do this. Fidan rants.
Muzaffer calls to say Ugur is at his mother’s grave. Cihan says to let him finish his prayer and then grab him up. And they do.
Sahin calls Ecmel about Alya’s child and what Cihan thinks Ecmel might have done. Ecmel just scoffs, no interest in the kid.
Cihan approaches a tied up Ugur. He offers his condolences. Cihan says that his nephew disappeared, Alya’s boy. Who did you tell the thing you threatened me with? [Hmm. I thought he threatened Alya and wouldn’t have dared confront Cihan.] Ugur swears he hasn’t told anyone. Cihan puts a gun to his temple.
Didn’t you threaten my wife that you would reveal this? I only said it to scare her. So she’d come to Canada with me. So, you wanted her to leave with you? He bashes him in the face with the gun. Cihan tells Kaya to move so he won’t get splashed with blood. We see Cihan point the gun while Ugur sobs.
Bang! Me, I think Cihan shot at the wall. He’d like to shoot him. But cold-blooded murder of a bound man just doesn’t seem like Cihan’s style.
Howdy from the Alamo City CarayCaray Family. Here's my super-short recap of last night's episode (accidentally dozed off on half of it).
*Little Miss Buji managed to escape the clutches from the Triggered Freakshows & hauls EXPLETIVE.
*Ismael, Lizzie & Enfreida discussing plans on rescuing Little Miss Buji.
*Hothead Diana still in the dog-cage: Just kill her off ASAP. Wondering if Isabella Castillo wants out 🤔
Great recap as usual, novelera. Thanks so much.
This is what Cihan said in Turkish: And me? I don't know if I can be good for you, but at least for Cihan (Deniz), I can provide that family warmth you longed for. He would have a beautiful childhood. He would grow up knowing he is loved. Cihan looks wistful here—because knowing you are loved is a beautiful thing. Knowing he is loved might heal your wound, even if it's only a little.
Fiko, so sacrificing. Alya was sold so Alya could have a better life. And so that Deniz wouldn’t grow up hating Alya. I took that to mean that Alya would have likely gone down the same route as her and continue the cycle. Maybe that’s how Fiko grew up. Neyse… Fiko is really sick. And I guess she will be redeemed before she dies or cured.
“[Oh no. Mine almost faints. Please let this not be what it always means in telenovelas.]” ITA, novelera. Maybe they will give her a brain tumor, like a character in Bahar.
“[OK. Time for a novelera sidebar. I’ll say right here that I think the kid found a way to go see his pony.] ITA, again, novelera.
“Fiko looks better with less warpaint.” Lol.
“She’s telling some guy who’s there that the baby looks like her.” That “some guy” we partially saw will likely be important.
I don’t think Cihan shot Ugur either.
From the original soundtrack:
Song played after Alya first saw Fiko at the konak:
Ah Beni Beni/Oh Me, Oh Me - Sezen Aksu
YouTube turn on cc for English: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sKqOHTzJATY
Song played when Alya went to Fiko’s hotel:
Hani Benim Gençliğim/ Where Has My Youth Gone - Ahmet Kaya
YouTube with English translation: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-5FoZI0Eas
I’ve noticed that they play an instrumental version of the theme song during some scenes showing the cultural misogyny. Here is the English translation of the theme song:
Oh Mardin, the suffering star of Nemrut
The henna on your women's thick hair turns white even in their youth
Washing away all their sins
Come on, Mardin
Oh, the underprivileged, the most deprived, the most marginalized
How much suffering, how much resignation, how many more festering wounds?
Tell me the essence of it all
I have no consent, the tears in my eyes have dried up
Oh Mardin, I am your silenced voice
Record that I am a witness to the blood of those women who were torn apart
The ashes of that Phoenix that gave birth to its life from its own life so many times.
Great summary, Novelera! I agree Cihan didn’t shoot Ugur. But what to do with him? His knowledge will always be a danger.
Mine’s fainting spell is worrisome.
Fiko’s claims she saved Alya by selling her were amazing. She needs a major reality check.
Love the music info! I wondered what she was singing about Mardin!
Many thanks!
Babachita
Dondi,
After reading the lyrics carefully and thinking about the women in the show, I’m struck by all the misogyny. I just accepted it as part of the culture, but perhaps it’s more than that. The theme is played, as you noted, where we see misogyny. All the women have suffered the effects. They respond differently. The one I find most interesting is Sadakat. How does she come to be this way? So, this theme may be a major point of the tale, not just way it is in that culture. Also, I love that the Phoenix is included in the song!
Thanks for this information, Dondi!
Babachita
Great comments, Babachita.
I hope Maggie is reading us. She asked about the writers and their point of view. About PSAs and finding a moral center. It’s not always clear through the script but many times the point is made through the soundtrack and the choice of added songs. Music is an integral part of dizis.
Unfortunately, Telemundo shortchanges us with edits to scenes, music and off translations. At least Univision has been better with keeping the original music. We still get edits and bad translations there. This is why I prefer to watch in Turkish. But it’s great to have a patio to watch with.
Novelera - just fantastic!
Ha - you all were thinking of me and sure enough my brain is burbling away at this episode. I so agree about the misogyny! I have had the strong feeling that it’s not just that the writers are showing us the culture but that they themselves share similar feelings. The women are constantly trivialized.
And they are so inconsistent with the characters! Alya just told us about how the Canadian lady was a real mother to her, then later says she has no happy memories until Boran came along.
Cihan tells her Deniz can have a happy childhood. There he is among violent people and there’s his grandmother who actually shot his mother. Sadaket says he’s all-important but she never interacts with him. She never cuddles him on her lap and reads to him. His own mother rarely sees him, ditto Cihan. What is Nare doing all day? She could play with him, as could Kaya who seems to have no particular occupation. If Deniz has happy memories it will be of Pakize and Ummu.
Maggie
This is the only TN I’ve watched where I have an impression of the characters that I don’t think is what the writers are intending.
For instance, I like Ugur. Maybe it’s the way the actor plays him. He always looks distressed. He happened to learn some pivotal information (about Ecmel’s paternity) and instead of being all secretive like everyone else, he correctly perceives that Deniz is under threat and he tells Alya. He points right at the elephant in the room. He warns her.
Alya meantime has adapted to this life though at the beginning she said she didn’t want Deniz brought up in a violent world. She had her chance to get out but didn’t take it.
Now Ugur is telling her to run for it. The whole thing about his wanting her for himself seems tacked on. He doesn’t look or act lovesick in any way. He looks alarmed for her and now of course for himself.
And I’m alarmed for both him and Cihan. It’s very risky to shoot a gun in a solid rock room. What about ricochets?
Maggie
Maggie, I don’t have time for much right now. But, all the dizis I have seen had characters that were in the gray area (not black or white). So, liking Ugur is probably logical. I like the actor. He does have concern for Alya. I worry that he is capable of harming the Albora and therefore puts his life at risk. Good point that the bullet might ricochet! They’ve probably used that location for similar stuff, so let’s hope they know how to avoid danger. Only a few hours left til we know.
I suspect the writers do intend to highlight the misogyny in the area. The frequent use of the music is interesting. Those lyrics are sad and disturbing. I expected nice, bland lyrics! I like these better, more impactful. If such attitudes are common, I wonder if the writers need to be subtle in highlighting them, or the production might not succeed.
Babachita
I agree Maggie, that the characters are inconsistent. Caroline did give Alya good memories, for starters.
For the smuggling, Sahin's rate will be 15% while Cihan's rate is 25%. Sahin is undercutting Cihan to take C's clients.
For Deniz, I was disgusted that neither Pakize, Cihan, nor Alya think of Deniz trying to go see the pony before they jumped to their awful conclusions, causing divisions once again with Sahin and others. And why isn't Pakize's primary responsibility Deniz? How was he allowed to leave the konak unobserved? If Pakize needed to step away, she should have called Ummu ( or Nare or Kaya or a henchman). The crisis did give Cihan another chance to hold Alya. She reached for him.
I don't think Cihan shot Ugur. Alya would be so disgusted that she would never forgive Cihan. And Cihan knows that.
No spoilers allowed for tonight's episode, so I won't discuss what the preview showed.
