"CASILLAS"
Howdy from the Alamo City CarayCaray Family. Here's my super-short recap of last night's episode.

*Crazy Vic somehow saved Annoying Laura & Santita from Creepy Tibeiro.

*Creepy Tibeiro got stabbed with the concoction device courtesy of Crazy Vic.

*General Cifuentes gets unhinged when he found out that Tibeiro got killed & Creepy Vic rubbed it in Cifuentes' face.

*Annoying TV News Reporter broadcasting the news of the airport incident.

*President Carmela Serrano is so thin-skinned & triggered LOL.

*Looks like Isabel might've set Isidro up & the authorities arrested Isidro.

Lejos -

Brief recap if anyone needs it before tonight's episode.

Ozcan had another blood clot and died. The funeral was held. Sadakat was awful.

Much discussion/argument about where Mine and the baby would live. Sadakat was awful.

Kaya went to a restaurant to meet his potential bride. (Sadakat gets half a point because she suggested he meet her before the arranged wedding.) At least bridey is nice-looking. Zerrin and Demir arrived at the same restaurant. Bridey (Ipek?) may catch on that Kaya and Zerrin have a back story.

Ha! “Sadakat was awful” sums up every episode, doesn’t it? There is probably a cultural reason why her kids don’t tell her to piss off and at least stop dining with her, but they really should move out. Nare mentioned selling the house, which means she owns it and has (had) a chance to leave and she’s blowing it. Where is Fidan when we need her, now that Fiko is gone?

Are they setting up another “the kids can’t be with each other so they’ll fall in love with someone else instead” scenario? Can’t tell if Demir is one his way to being a good guy or not. Of course, his wife carrying Kaya’s baby complicates that possibility.

The mix of very modern attitudes (women’s dress and careers) and very old (arranged marriages) is interesting in these Turkish shows.

I was wondering the same thing. This woman (old Sad) will never win Miss Congeniality at this rate! Why don’t any of the adult kids stand up to her over her constant venom spewing! I could hardly stand her vile snarling at Alya. But I thought Alya, even in a state of shock, handled her so well. Do you think some of Sadakat’s behavior with Mine is fueled by her memories of her own treatment by Ecmel long ago? She exhibits so much smoldering hatred.

Ooops, sorry the anonymous above is me. SaraAnne

This is great, Anastasia! You summed it up very well.

Kat, I agree that Sadakat is the worst of the worst. She’s my favorite antagonista ever! Usually the TN baddies do some things that make me gasp, but Sadakat says something shocking and appalling nearly every sentence she utters. Terrific work on the part of the writers! The actress is doing a great job with her part too.

When Kaya arrived to meet his potential arranged bride, once again there were tables set out in full sun with no umbrellas. The way the characters are dressed right now suggests it’s hot out. And the only person who wears sunglasses is Demir. Are people supposed to sit there and roast and squint?

By the time they filmed the two sitting back down the patio had fallen into shadow. That was fast - ha!

Thanks for getting us started, Anastasia.

I suppose it's realistic, but I was SO pleased with the defiant Alya who practically spit in Sadakat's face. Now they seem to be showing her reacting to the news of the pregnancy and pulling away from Cihan.

Kaya was going to get up and leave. Ipek was certainly refreshingly honest. But, of course, Demir showed up, again grasping Zerrin's hand. Kaya still hasn't grown up. How old is he supposed to be? And his sister STILL hasn't told him how awful it is to marry someone you don't love when the one you do love is still around.

SaraAnne, most of us here have come to the conclusion that what happened with Ecmel when she was a young, pregnant woman seems to be at the root of what drives Sadakat. I am also constantly shocked at the rather mild response, at least to me, by her adult children. Everything is about dominance. Why in the world would Nare sell that house? Do women never live alone in southern Turkey. I'd have raced over there right after the funeral to get away from Sadakat. Thanks for reminding me, K, that the sale was mentioned.

What seems like a very long time ago, Sadakat had a health problem. This is when she recognized the obstetrician who treated her when she was pregnant with Boran. Come on, writers, give her that big stroke that Ozkan had!

The boy playing Deniz is a very good little actor. And he's great at pretending to be asleep. Last night that sprawled out on his back and sound asleep scene was perfect.

No wonder the Alboras are slender. Sadakat drives them away from every meal.
