“Celeste” sweetly teases Andres but then quickly reveals she is Carolina! He hugs his mother, overjoyed. Oscar cautions Andres he must keep this secret between the three of them. Andres understands and nods.
Madre confronts “Carolina” telling her she knows she is Celeste! “Carolina” tries to spin a yarn but Madre Gustava (who wasn’t born yesterday) tells her to save her breath (so to speak). She leaves murmuring something about a drastic punishment. “Carolina” says a prayer, crossing herself.
Moises comes in and tells “Celeste” he is fine. Sara comes in with a wolfish smile asking how her sister is. Sara asks if the boys can go bird watching, with permission of course as she looks at Oscar. Andres tries to beg off but Moises and Oscar talk him into going. Esta bien he finally agrees as Oscar nods approvingly.
Lucas is checking on Rosalia as Lucas also looks in on her. She is worried about Rosalia but Lucas reassures Lucia it is fine; she is just tired. He then gently shooed her out of the room casting a smile toward Rosalia’s bed.
Her lawyer calls out to “Carolina”. I believe she tells her that the new cybernetic lawyer, “Valentina” has been hired and that things are looking up. Much to the lawyer’s surprise, “Carolina” crosses herself but she explains it away.
Sly Sara pumps the boys about Oscar and “Celeste”. Andres, obviously preoccupied, is still trying to go back to his mother. He finally runs off and Sara guides Moises back as well.
The lawyer has an exchange with Madre Gustava I can’t interpret after which the madre looks a little upset.
Angelina is still not feeling well as she slumps on the couch. Gloria arrives and Angelina asks her why she is there. Gloria badmouths Juan David and silences him as he tries to talk. Gloria says she went to the bank and it appears she squared the debt! I am not sure if she did it with money her deceased husband left her…
Oscar and “Celeste” canoodle on the couch. He has his arm around her as he talks about being happy forever. He nuzzles her neck as she tells him how romantic he is; AND that she loves him. The lovers kiss tenderly and gently.
Angelina, clearly relieved, wears a smile that lights up her face. She thanks her mother profusely. Juan David says he won’t permit it (way to look a gift horse in the mouth I murmur) but Gloria shuts him down. Father Gabriel admonishes him, telling him to thank Gloria for her generosity. Gloria says she did it for “the Jennifers” as she pinches Angelina’s cheeks. “Muchas gracias suegra” he tells her as Angelina sighs and smiles.
Diana
More murmurings of love and as someone knocks on Oscar’s door, “Celeste” quickly adjusts her habit. She stands as just as Sara and the boys come in. Sara bids them goodbye as Moises brings Griselda out. Naturally, as it is Carolina, rather than Celeste, she screams and quickly hides behind Oscar. The smart little lad who is always one step ahead, immediately says you are Carolina and the jig is quickly up. Hugs and smiles all around.
Juan David is still harping about the money when Angelina calls him over to feel the babies kicking. He is delighted and laughs happily.
“Celeste” and Andres take leave of Oscar and Moises.
Hugo and Juanita are having dinner with Gloria and Manuel. Manuel tells them what a big heart Gloria has; she and he exchange sweet murmurings as Hugo and Juanita raise their eyebrows, exchanging glances with each other.
Andres goes to “Celeste’s” room. She is startled but quickly says he was quiet and no one saw him. She tries to alleviate his fears; she will be proven innocent. Andres prays for that outcome as they hug.
Moises looks in on Oscar who invites him into bed. Moises jumps in and Oscar hugs him tightly as they go to sleep.
Father Gabriel bids “Celeste” a good morning. He is startled to see Andres and asks why he is there. “Celeste” “explains” why he slept there. Something is also said about a fiesta. Oscar arrives to pick up “Celeste” and the boys while the good father looks a bit confused.
Oscar tells “Celeste” their destination is a surprise. Moises urges Oscar to kiss her because they are novios. “I am Celeste” Carolina reminds him with a smile; we have to be careful. Oscar smiles at “Celeste” through the car window after she gets in. Father Gabriel steps outside and watches the car leave as I sigh deeply.
Lucas pours Rosalie hot coffee and asks how she is mentioning her pregnancy just in time for Franco to overhear as he enters. Lucia comes out as well and finally Lucas and Rosalia admit it. Franco and Lucia are thrilled for their friends.
“Carolina” is still painting her life away as Madre Gustava brings her a hot drink. An agitated (with every right to be) Madre Gustava tells her she took advantage of her trust and holds her responsible. Celeste’s assertion that she did it to help Carolina who was devastated does not mollify the madre. She tells her to come to her office.
Without thought or consideration that they might be putting themselves in danger of being discovered, Oscar, “Celeste” and the boys have an outside picnic by a babbling brook. Oh, and for good measure, “Celeste” has taken her habit off! I cringe, pleading that Sara is very far away and not about to pop up out of the bushes!
Diana
Father Gabriel tells Gloria it was nice of her to help his nephew. A bit more discussion ensued and ended up with them agreeing they are family and shaking hands.
Back at the picnic, Oscar tells Carolina how much he cares as they kiss. Oh no, just as I feared, Sara is indeed there, watching from the safety of the trees! ☹
Franco congratulates Lucas on becoming a father; you are a good man he tells his friend.
As the kiss ends, Oscar and “Celeste” begin a new one. Sara watches with a stunned look of disbelief. The boys appear, coughing loudly but smiling. Moises comments on how happy they look and talks about being a family as the boys clap hands.
Naturally, Sara immediately calls Carlos. Sister Celeste and Oscar León are novios she sputters into the phone. He immediately corrects her, that isn’t Celeste it’s Carolina he yells lividly.
More bird watching ensues. Carolina gets a call from Celeste who is sitting in front of Madre Gustava. The madre takes the phone and reads Carolina the riot act (so to speak). Carolina tries to apologize to both the madre and her sister. She tells Oscar they need to leave. The boys arrive and they pick up the remnants of the picnic.
Lucia listens to a podcast as she sobs. The doctor calls to ask how she is. They agreed to an appointment for the next day. Lucia cries looking at herself in the mirror, giving herself a pep talk as she dries her eyes.
Juan David and Father Gabriel discuss his candidacy (?)
The quartet arrive back at Oscar’s. Moises talks about family as Augustin arrives saying Oscar is needed elsewhere. Oscar tells “Celeste” he will see her at the posada. More is mentioned about the fiesta as they high five.
As expected, Carlos has made a beeline, arriving at the convent, bellowing for Carolina. Several nuns try and put him off and mercifully, Madre Gustava arrives. She refuses to allow him to cause a scene and warns him off as cool nun scowls for good measure. “Carolina” comes out as the madre tells her Carlos was there.
A livid Carlos stands outside the convent gates seething to Sara that the madre won’t let him see Carolina whom he calls a lying manipulator. I could not interpret exactly what his words were in that last scene, but I suspect and fear he might be heading right to Monteverde.
I cannot believe how utterly careless Oscar and Carolina were. Can the kidnapping be far behind I ask, shuddering?
The religious contingent, the good madre and padre have my utmost respect and admiration for their insight and intelligence. These two are at the top of my favorites list.
I’m waiting with bated breath for tomorrow!
Diana
Kat, thank you...
Yes, Oscar and Carolina's actions are head scratching, aren't they? Speechless.
Ahh, so Gloria pawned her jewelry. Thank you.
I do think Juan David (who has a LOT to learn about fiscal responsibility) is still working for Father Gabriel. Ack.
Diana
Celeste tries to explain to Mother Gustava that she knows that passage from the Bible really well because her sister read it to her when she was feeling so terrible and it really moved her so she remembered it . . . How would she ever make up such a story? Mother Gustava isn't convinced. This wouldn't be the first time she and her sister traded places! Celeste assures her that is all a part of the past now! Also, it would be very risky for them to pull something like that now. Mother Gustava agrees and adds that if she found out that they had switched places she would have to take drastic measures.
Carolina tells Andrés that she cannot stay with them but will have to go sleep at the inn. Moisés comes in looking for Griselda his mouse/rat and finds the nun.
After the boys leave with Sara, Oscar tells Carolina they have two hours to themselves. . . She can only answer with a smile.
The lawyer tells Celeste that she has good news. Her old judge had to resign due to health issues and she has a new judge which could be a very favorable change for her. Her name is Valentina Camos. She has done a lot in the area of women's rights. Celeste prays to God that it turns out that way and crosses herself. Then lawyer says she is starting to talk like a nun. Celeste jokes saying not really. It is just that she has been living with them for so long, all she needs now is to put on a the habit! She, also, has hired a new cybernetic investigator who was recommend by one her colleagues. She has high hopes that soon they will have the evidence to show Carlos' involvement.
Mother Gustava asks the lawyer if she did not find "Carolina" a bit strange. The lawyer says she was a bit distant but she understands after all she has been through. It is no wonder she isn't at 100% after what she has been through. Mother Gustava tries to convince herself answering that has to be it! Right??
Gloria has come to talk about the debt that Angelina's irresponsible husband has put on the back of Manuel. In light of the situation, that puts Manuel's estate and the health of her daughter at risk, she, herself, will liquidate his debt with the bank.
Carolina tells Oscar that he is the most romantic man in the world!
Gloria explains that she she really didn't want to do it but this is an emergency and is going to pawn some jewelry: a pearl necklace, and other little treasures that her father gave her. What are possessions good for if not to use in bad times? Juan David tells her that he will be paying her back, no matter how small the payments, so she can get her jewelry back. Gloria answers saying she would not expect less of him. She asks for the papers he got from the bank so she can settle the matter. The good father concludes that a grandmother's love can make miracles happen.
Carolina makes Moisés promise not to let on who she really is.
Outside the inn, Carolina suggests that Oscar, the boys and she do something together the next day They all agree. Oscar will pick her and Andrés up.
Gloria tells Manuel, Hugo and Juanita that she hopes that Juan David and she now get closer because their relationship has gotten only more distant all the time. Juanita says she gets it now. She did it all to get Juan David eating out of her hand. Gloria denies that assertion and Manuel sticks up for her. She is a woman with a great big heart. What is more, she is noble and loving like he has always said. He doesn't get why other people don't see that. Gloria asks what would she do without Manuel! The look at each other lovingly. He kisses her hand and she almost purrs.
Carolina suggests to her son that they do not talk about court or the police and focus on enjoying their time together. He is agree but expresses his worry if she is found guilty. Will he have to go live with his father? She tells him that hopefully that will not happen and she trusts that justice will prevail.
Moisés misses Andrés being in his room with him.
The good father has come to see Sister Celeste about organizing their celebration of Corpus Christi in Monteverde. It is about the veneration of the eucharist. She does her best to respond but has no idea what he is talking about. Luckily, Andrés comes out telling Carolina it is time to leave. He is more than surprised that Oscar is going with the nun and the two boys on their outing.
The good mother has set a trap for Celeste. She has borught her a nice hot cup of tea. She tells her to be careful so she doesn't get burned like she did before.
Mohter Gustava asks her how her burn is doing. Celeste asks "burn"? Mother Gustava "reminds her" of the burn she got when she was helping another sister bake. Did she put on the cream that she gave her? Celeste answers of course, It is all better and doesn't burn at all. Mother Gustava proclaims that she has caught her in a lie! Carolina never got burned so she ever give her a cream!
Her little game is ending here and now! If she doesn't want all hell to break loose, she will tell her where her sister is right now.
Mothet Gustava is upset that that Celeste and her sister are dragging her along in their misdeeds. She is responsible for Carolina fulfilling the requirements of her home confinement. Celeste says nobody has to know that Carolina is gone. Mother Gustava is not buying her attitude. Celeste apologizes and tries to explain that she couldn't just stand there and do nothing while her sister was dying from sadness. Carolina is innocent and should not be experiencing this calvary along with her son because of this. Mother Gustava says that is no excuse and for them to do this just days away from a hearing. Celeste is not acting prudently. Celeste assures her that Carolina will be back in time. She tells Mother Gustava to trust them. Mother Gustava answers that she is going to help them again because she doesn't have any other choice but this time they are going to do things the right way, the way they should be done. Mother Gustava will explain that to her in her office.
The good father has cone to thank Gloria for being so generous with his nephew offering to pay off the debt. She makes it clear again that she did it for her daughter and granddaughters. He says no matter what, he is grateful for her lifting that weight off of Juan David's shoulders. As a way to thank her, he is gong to cook her a meal. She smiles hearing that. He will be preparing her supper tonight will be making salmon with capers which is, according to Angelina, her favorite dish. Of course, she accepts the invitation! It will be at 8:00 p.m. Before the good father leaves, Gloria just has to ask if he is setting her up for something with the invitation. He is offended! It would be like him thinking that she paid Juan David's debt to take advantage of him. Now she is offended! He says he doesn't believe that . . . It is only an example! They are family and family members help each other out when things get complicated. She smiles and agrees saying this is the first time they have agreed on anything. They shake on it. Supper is on. They are all smiles.
Moisés wants to take Andrés to see the Cave of the Elves. Oscar tells them to go but to be back soon. The boys reappear quickly. A large tree has fallen down and is blocking the entrance to the cave.
Carina tells Moisés she isn't content but is happy being with the people she loves the most in her life. Moisés thinks they are almost like a family. Oscar corrects him: they ARE a family.
When Carlos hears that Celeste made a trip to Mexico City, he is sure that she changed places with her sister. Ignoring Sara's concerns, Oscar insists he is going straight to the convent to see if Celeste is there. She asks what is to be gained. He answers if Celeste is there that means the twins are committing a crime. If he brings that to the law's attention, they will both end up in jail.
Mother Celeste tells Carolina that she is sick and tired of her and her sister making a fool out of her. She doesn't want to hear Carolina's explanations and makes it clear this is the last time she is covering for her and her sister but her lawyer has to know that she is in Monteverde and that it is her sister that is at the convent. Carolina has to agree. Celeste apologizes for not being able to pull it off. Carolina thanks her for doing what she has done. Celeste will talk to the lawyer. (her name is Viviana)
Carolina tells Oscar she hopes her lawyer doesn't drop her.
Lucía is listening to podcasts about women's experiences with breast cancer. She gets a call from her doctor saying she can start her chemo tomorrow morning.
The good father tells Juan David that even though Gloria did a good deed paying off the debt, he feels there is something fishy going on. He thinks that her generosity is hiding ulterior motives. He suspects she will want Juan David to drop his candidacy. Juan David wonders if Gloria would be capable of that. The good father knowingly chuckles saying he knows she would be capable of that and more . So, the good father is going to do some investigating of his own. Juan David hopes he is wrong. The good father tells him not to worry since will find out today.
Moisés tells Carolina that Oscar's birthday is coming up and she will be in town for it. She wants to plan a big party. Moisés says he hates parties and they never do anything. Carolina says he will have a surprise party for this birthday!
Celeste talked to the lawyer who will come by this afternoon so she can tell her that she and Carolina switched places. Mother Gustava hopes that the lawyer doesn't drop Carolina's case after what they have done. She hopes not because that would be the worst thing that could happen to her sister.
Carlos is angry and frustrated that he cannot prove that the sisters switched places without talking to Celeste who he suspects is at the convent. He is so sick of Carolina that now he has decided he is going to just go get his son. He is all set to arrive tomorrow in Monteverde.
Thank you, Diana, for your recap.
Another great but jam-packed episode. All I could say was "YIKES!" when I was watching this morning.
Yes, the good father and Mother Gustava are the best!
I like that the good father is not taking Gloria at face value knowing what a duplicitous conniver she can be. As I have said before, he is my favorite character in this novela. The character is well-written with plenty of nuance and perfectly acted. Can't wait for that salmon dinner! I am also enjoying Mother Gustava more and more for the same reasons.
Yes, Oscar and Carolina have been so very careless. Making out in the living room when anyone could walk in when Oscar has a bedroom and an office with locks on the door? Going on a picnic still close enough for people in Monteverde like Sara to see them?
I wonder if the Cave of the Elves is going to have a role in all of this since Moisés mentioned it.
More later.
Jarifa, your summary was extraordinary. Your attention to detail is stunning; there is nothing that does not escape your eagle eye. Thank you for explaining everything that occurred so vividly and completely. A beautifully painted canvas...
I learned so much that had escaped me. I thought Madre Gustava immediately knew Celeste was pretending to be Carolina. I so appreciate your relating her crafty wiles in proving her suspicions with the "burn" story! Of course she feels betrayed and rightly so.
I appreciate your explaining about the celebration of Corpus Christi. As you know, I am a huge LOTR fan, so will be eagerly looking forward to seeing the Cave of the Elves! Also, thank you for providing a name for the lawyer, Viviana! One of the biggest mysteries is now solved 😊
"The good father tells Juan David that even though Gloria did a good deed paying off the debt, he feels there is something fishy going on. He thinks that her generosity is hiding ulterior motives. He suspects she will want Juan David to drop his candidacy". Our beloved Father Gabriel sees right through Gloria, doesn't he? Sharp as a tack, eyes laser focused on the truth.
So Carolina wants to have a huge surprise party for Oscar? Has she gone completely mad???
Like you, I am really looking forward to the "dinner", salmon is one of my favorites.
Carlos is a 'comin.
Jarifa, you are a jewel. Thank you for your time in crafting this sensational summary.
Diana
Diana, yep, “Carlos is a ‘comin.” You can say that again! Not looking forward to that.
I lucked out only hearing “Viviana” in passing.
Thunder showers this a.m. Guess they are better than snow!
Does anyone else think Carlos is Moises father. The "big happy family" sealed it for me. Maybe Erika will bring about his downfall by stealing her baby when he was born. Hopefully she is instrumental in thwarting a kidnap attempt.
I cringe every time Carlos flatters Sara. She isn't ugly, but you can bet she hasn't had a lot of interest from men in her life and she is eating up the compliments he gives her....
Kat, I haven’t thought of that but it wouldn’t surprise me considering the telenovela world and all of its coincidences.
Kat, by process of elimination, there doesn't appear to be any other candidate we are aware of who could be Moises father.
I dread the prospect and fervently hope that isn't the case. That said, Moises and Andres being half brothers would mirror the theme you mentioned.
Diana
Thanks, Diana and Jarifa, you make an outstanding team. Our Padre and Madre are great additions to this show. I enjoy the scenes they’re in. I’ll be picturing the Padre’s confusion and exasperation long after the show is over. And our Madre has a giving heart even though she tries to come across as tough.
I kind of wish Rosalia wasn’t pregnant. Mainly I’m wondering if the chemo will affect Lucia being able to have children. It would be hard to deal with anyway, but your best friend being pregnant would make you feel really depressed.
I hadn’t thought about Carlos being Moises dad. He’s just low enough to steal a baby and leave it somewhere. If it’s true I wonder if he remembers it was in Monteverde. He may decide to take both boys!
Last night was a fun episode until the end, when Sarah and Carlos made their appearance. I hope tonight’s isn’t all downhill!
Thank you for your very nice words Liz!
I smiled at and completely agreed with "I’ll be picturing the Padre’s confusion and exasperation long after the show is over." A truly memorable character and actor...
"Carlos may decide to take both boys" got me thinking. If he is Moises' father, it will be interesting to see how and when that will be revealed and what his reaction will be. Two amazing boys...
Diana
We begin with a livid Carlos telling Sara he is going to retrieve his son; he is going to Monteverde! Sickening Sara tells him to calm down and smiles as she evil cackles; finally she sends besos. Blech.
Father Gabriel and Gloria have gathered for their dinner. “Salud” they effuse as they click glasses, toasting to the “two Jennifers”, Gloria quickly downing her wine.
Franco checks in on Lucia. She worries about starting chemo. He takes her hand as she says he shouldn’t feel obligated. Oh no, she is the most important thing in his life he reassures her. Te amos are exchanged.
Gloria daintily tucks into her salmon, enjoying every bite. She and the good padre discuss Juan David’s parents; his father died in an accident. Juan David is a good man the father declares; chatter continues as he fills her glass and gets out another bottle.
Viviana visits “Carolina” who admits that she is Celeste and that Carolina is in Monteverde. Viviana is aghast! Celeste explains Carolina went to be with her son. This is very serious Viviana manages to get out; por Dios she laments. Carolina should not have left the convent Viviana vents; she could get arrested. Celeste apologizes as Viviana calls Carolina, demanding she return immediately; this is very grave. Celeste then takes the phone and echoes that she has to get back. Carolina whines a bit but Celeste tells her Madre Gustava also knows and there is no choice. Este bien Carolina allows, I will return.
Sara gets a call from Carlos; he is going to be paying her a visit. More revolting “besos”.☹
Andres asks Carolina why she is so sad. I have to return to the convent she answers sadly. Why he cries! I thought you would be here for four days. Carolina tells him the Madre knows and is furious. Tears fill her eyes as Andres protests. No quiero he says emotionally as they hug.
Gloria is still drinking and the father procures yet another bottle of wine, this one, from Spain. They are having a splendid time; he puts on Spanish music and they gracefully dance side by side. He puts his arm out and spins her around. Such a sweet and fun scene!
“Glorita” Manuel says the next morning as he sees a hung-over Gloria by the kitchen sink, cola in hand. She exclaims that she and the good padre were doing the Pasa Doble as Manuel smiles. Something was said about the president of the municipality position.
Franco comes in and greets Rosalia and Lucas. Franco and on the edge Lucia leave as Rosalia wishes her good luck.
Diana
“Buenos dias” a smiling Oscar greets Carolina. She tells him she has to return to the convent and why. He is clearly disappointed as he had so many plans for them.
The boys are looking for Franco but Lucas tells them he isn’t there.
The doctor greets a clearly nervous Lucia. She tells Lucia that she certainly understands her trepidation and how she is feeling. The IV bags are ready. The needle is inserted into her port; the first chemo session begins. Franco sits on the arm of Lucia’s chair.
Sara arrives at Carlos’ who welcomes his “guapa” as he kisses her.
Meanwhile, Oscar and Carolina enjoy a few minutes of quiet happiness. He tells her about his birthday is coming (of course she is way ahead of him). She kisses him as he smiles.
Sara laments to “poor” Carlos whose “beastly” wife is keeping his son from him. He murmurs that thanks to her that it won’t be for long. He tells her she is incredible as they lay down on the bed. Mercifully, we are spared seeing or hearing anything further.
Rosalia receives a letter, I think she has been accepted into some type of university program. As I couldn’t follow I can’t elaborate here or in any of the subsequent scenes where this is mentioned. However, whatever it is, she is very happy and happily hugs her stomach.
Father Gabriel has (I believe) a letter from the bank which he waves at Juan David and Angelina as Gloria and Manuel arrive. Gloria declares she has made an important decision. She is no longer a candidate for the president of the municipality! But wait! There’s more! She then rather graciously declares that Juan David is the right candidate for the position. Thank you suegra he says stunned but pleased. Father Gabriel initially looks shocked, and then happy; he is very grateful to Manuel. Everyone graciously toasts Gloria.
“Celeste” comes into the restaurant, thrilled to see Juanita. She gushes over her ring and then quickly reels herself back into character. She asks for Manuel saying she wants to arrange a birthday party for Oscar. Juanita cocks her head, clearly surprised. All of a sudden, Hugo comes out of the kitchen and he and Juanita kiss. She leans forward at this smiling joyously. Juanita, who also wasn’t born yesterday (anyone sensing a theme emerging??) leans forward saying “you aren’t Celeste, you are Carolina!” The two hug, Carolina effusively apologizing for missing Juanita’s wedding. I am so happy Juanita glows. Then Carolina tells her she and Oscar are novios! Hugo comes out and he is also told that Celeste is really Carolina. (This must be THE worst kept secret in telenovela history I bemoan). Carolina tells them she has to return to the convent tomorrow.
The chemotherapy session must have been very difficult as Lucia cries in her bed. Franco is distraught in the kitchen when Rosalia comes in. She tells him it is part of the process. He is so upset and she hugs him comfortingly. She later comforts and encourages him; he kisses her on the cheek.
Diana
Sara is showing Moises and Andres pictures on her camera. Wonderful but a tad too talkative Moises tells Sara a secret. There is going to be a surprise party for Oscar and it will be at Manuel’s! Sara’s wheels are turning.
Oscar meets “Celeste” outside and she pushes him away as he tries to kiss her. He tips his hat and they go inside. They are surprised to see Sara and Oscar asks why she is there. She makes a hasty retreat as the boys almost ruin the surprise.
The women at the inn are preparing for the party, working on decorations, balloons and food prep.
Rosalia gives tired Lucia a glass of water. As she sips through a straw, Rosalia tells her how much Franco cares about her. Lucia asks Rosalia how she is; she is concerned about her pregnancy. Rosalia talks about her conflicted feelings about the offer she was made.
Oscar walks into the inn kitchen causing chaos as the women try to hide their handiwork. He and “Celeste” leave with Andres.
Blabbermouth Sara tells Carlos there is going to be a surprise party for Oscar, who is thrilled as this provides the perfect opportunity to carry out the abduction! It think Sara wonders what pretext she would give for showing up at the party.
Oscar, Carolina and the boys have breakfast. After the boys scurry off. Oscar takes her by the hand and leads her away from the table. He reaches out his hand, pointing toward her ear as she tugs on her lobe. Oh my! By pure magic, a small black jewelry box is now nestled in the palm of Oscar’s hand. He opens it as Carolina stares, wide eyed. Oscar, eyes brimming, asks “Carolina Robles, will you be my wife??” Carolina’s delighted look of love is the last scene we see…
I loved Gloria and Gabriel’s dancing, the highlight of tonight’s episode for me.
Loose lips were here, there and everywhere, weren’t they?? Does anyone know how to keep a secret anymore?? 😊
I highly suspect Oscar’s party is going to be a disaster. With six episodes left to go, it seems likely Andres (sadly) will be abducted.
Hoping for a fast reunion and that the needle moves quickly toward HEA’s all around!
Diana
I agree, the dancing scene was the best. I smiled throughout. I guess JD got his moves from the good Padre.
Rosalia was offered a scholarship to specialize in gastroenterology I think it was. She and Lucas I assume will be moving. Wonder how he will feel about that.
Manuel told Gloria that only one person would even vote for her (and it was t him) so it would be humiliating for her. She should withdraw from the race. The wine drinking was a pretext on father's part to brag about JD's good qualities.
Sara would have no problem crashing the party. It's a public restaurant and she is a visitor. Where else is she going to eat? I guess Manuel could put up a "closed for a private function sign" on the door, but that would tip off Oscar
Oscar was bugging me demanding Carolina delay her departure. He does not take her arrest seriously at all! Isn't it proper form to wait until the divorce is finalized before getting engaged?
Thanks again Diana, and in advance, to Jarifa.
I didn't proofread as I can only see a few lines on my phone. It should be wasn't him voting for Gloria. Manuel mentioned some woman's name.
I am currently. Not sure if I'll continue. A lot of black haired young women I can't keep straight! I'm not a fan of the mother and the way she is treating her husband.
Thanks so much Kat.
"I guess JD got his moves from the good Padre" is so true!
I am happy for Rosalia but wish she and Lucas didn't have to move. Lucas has just newly discovered his family and Rosalia and Lucia are so close.
I had thought Manuel was discouraging Gloria but didn't realize that he said no one would vote for her! Harsh but true; it needed to be said.
Yes, technically, Carolina should be formally divorced before Oscar asks for her hand. But I think he is an honorable man and wants to formalize things as best as they can at this time.
Oscar is acting like a love struck kid and letting his heart rule his head.
Sara has nerve and won't hesitate to crash the party, likely creating some sort of diversion for Carlos to spirit Andres away. Not looking forward to it.
Diana
Jarifa, I've only seen a bit here and there. I have to say that there has been a lot of action, a full on machete assault and now the collapse of a shed trapping Eva Velden's leg (don't even know her character's name).
I thought the love triangle would come off as a bit silly but the little I've seen indicates otherwise. Alejandra Barros is very good and believable.
Diana
Thanks Diana, great recap. My guess is Rosalia will only have to be gone for the education. Since she’s already a doctor maybe the specialization will only take a year. But she’ll probably be away when the baby is born, and she didn’t want to move when Lucas had the chance.
Sarah is so desperate for love she’s believing Carlos when she can see that Andre’s is quite happy without his dad.
I also loved the dance scene. They danced well together. This is really a fun show. I didn’t catch that Manuel wouldn’t be voting for Gloria, but you’re right, the one vote was someone he named. I wonder if Gloria caught on to that.
Carlos should really wait a day. I can’t imagine him showing up at the party. But I guess Sarah could, and she’d easily get him outside. Will she realize Andre’s doestwant to go or will Carlos spin some story about that. I’m thinking neither twin will be there when this happens.
I’m sort of watching this. I fall asleep during this show, so miss bits and pieces. But at least the catnaps enable me to stay awake for Monteverde! It just seems the male star would have more in common with the daughter. Is the mom going to be jealous and spying the whole time? I’m not sure if I’ll continue with this. But I’m enjoying Mi Verdad.
Hi , Liz. I am still watching this show because I like Rulli. The daughter part of the triangle was the young daughter in " Las Hiyas." I don't know how she got this part. After seeing actresses like Angelique Boyer and Susana Gonzales...I can only say...I don't think this young actress is up to it , I also can't see any chemistry between the mother and Rulli. However, ill keep watching . The bad bar girl who covets Felt Rulli is fun . Susan
.
Jarifa and Diana,
Please jump on board ...Rulli, beautiful scenery , and beautiful horses.
The mother is Paloma, daughter is Barbara , and Rulli is Renato. Arturo Peniche is a bad guy ,and you know this guy can bring the bad ...he's so good at bringing the bad . Also Ana,Berthe is always super. She is the sister inlaw of Paloma and is always cooking and giving advice . come on !!! Susan
Thank you for your kind words Liz...
Well, we all loved the dancing! The actors play so well against each other; such fun...
"Sarah is so desperate for love she’s believing Carlos when she can see that Andre’s is quite happy without his dad" is exactly right. She is blinded by Carlos; it's clear she isn't an unintelligent woman but she is making a huge, life altering mistake aligning herself with him. Andres will be beside himself if and when he is taken; perhaps his reaction might convince her that Carlos is a lying sack...
Your reasoning that Rosalia might not need to be away indefinitely was well stated. I hope you are right in that Rosalia will only need to be away a brief while. Their Monteverde family and friends can't be replicated elsewhere.
Diana
Susan, I likely will continue to sneak peaks of this and Mi Verdad (Suzanna is my fav), but basketball is heating up (Celtics are #2 in the east and Jayson Tatum finally returned last night) so my attention will be there on game nights.
I know a bit more about Mi Verdad but not enough to comment. Perhaps I'll be able to jump in later on.
Glad you are enjoying these!
Diana
Thanks, Diana!
I translated much of the Gloria/good father scenes because they were so entertaining and well written. Yes, for me, they were the best of the episode.
Gloria is all smiles as she tells the good father how surprised she was with the invitation. He reminds her he did it because of the great gesture she made when she helped out Juan David. The good father asks Gloria what she thinks about the names for the twins. She thinks they are horrible and he readily agrees. They both agree it is probably better to not say anymore. Gloria laughs as they toast again. Gloria finishes off her wine in one gulp clearly enjoying it.
Gloria never knew that the good father was such a good cook. He says he isn't such a great cook. The salmon recipe is from his sister-in-law, Juan David's mother. He makes it whenever he want to show off. Gloira asks what happened to Juan David's parents. The good father tells Gloria that his parents died in a car accident. Juan David was then an orphan and the good father couldn't let him end up in an orphanage even though he himself was young and just out of the seminary. He decided at that time to be his legal guardian. Gloria thinks he has become more like a father to him. The good father thinks that Juan David is largest blessing that life has bestowed upon him. He is very proud of the man Juan David has grown up to be and the family he has formed. Although he didn't have his parents, he grew up with a lot of love since the good father did his best to make him a good man. Gloria thinks that the good father might be annoying, fussy, eccentric, gossipy, obstinate and foolish but she has to recognize that deep down he is a very good person. The good father returns the favor by saying that although she is a gossip, a busybody, a manipulator, imprudent and self-centered, he has to recognize that she has shown herself not to be a bad person. They both laugh as he pours her more wine. She is up for another bottle of wine to be opened! He asks how her campaign is going. She thinks it is going well. She is sure she will win. With all due respect, he thinks her competition will be formidable. Juan David is moving ahead. He then asks her the $50,000 question: Just between the two of them, did she pay Juan David's debt with the intention of asking him to drop out of the race???? Gloria gets up angrily saying she thought that him inviting her over was odd to begin with but she never expected this. The good father goes on to explain it was only a question. There was no bad intent. He asks her not to be offended. He manages to get her to sit back down and their good time continues.
The lawyer Viviana tells Celeste that this isn't a game and they are not in a movie.Celeste informs her sister how things are in no uncertain terms and and that Carlos came looking for her at the convent that very day but Mother Gustava didn't let him in because if she ahad, he would have surely discovered the truth and called the police. Carolina gives her lawyer her word she will be back ASAP. The lawyer hopes she doesn't get caught in the mean time because she could be charged with having escaped custody, too. The lawyer tells Celeste to let her know when Carolina is back.
After they finish another bottle of wine, the good father asks Gloria is she likes sherry. Somebody brought him a bottle of the best from Spain. That suits Gloria. He opens the bottle. She asks why he has such affection for Spain. She noticed the bullfight posters and now the sherry! He explains that he wanted to be a bullfighter. She breaks out in laughter. He asks why she is laughing. He is being serious! He spent his youth, drinking Spanish sherry, dancing paso dobles and singing sevillanas. She cannot believe he can dance the paso doble. Yes, he can! Like a professional! They laugh some more as he asks if she wants to see and goes to put on some music. He formally asks her to dance with him and she is ready! He takes her hand and they dance.
The next day, Gloria has to admit to Manuel that she had a great time with the priest. They even ended up dancing the paso doble. Manuel says they had to become friends especially now with the arrival of their granddaughters. They cannot be arguing about every little thing and certainly not about politics. She says they didn't really talk about politics but she made it clear that she was going to be the first president of Monteverde. Manuel clears his throat as he prepares to tell Gloria the hard truth. He starts by saying sometimes you have to hurt the ones you love the most. She has to face reality. She asks what reality. He clarifies himself by saying she has no chance of winning the election and he doesn't want her to end up looking ridiculous. He thinks she should quit her candidacy. She looks sad.
Moisés tells Lucas they need to talk to Franco because they are going to plan a surprise party for Oscar's birthday the next day. Lucas isn't too sure that Oscar is going to like that but he will let Franco know.
When Sara arrives where Carlos is staying, she asks if he is planning on taking Andrés tomorrow. She says they will have time to talk about the plan. Now he only wants to enjoy her (YUK!)
Oscar says that for the first time he wants this birthday to be different and asks Carolina to stay for it in spite of her having her bus ticket. He would love to take her off to La Palma. It would make him so happy. He could then take her to the bus station or even to the airport. She refuses saying she has to get back as early as she can. She cannot risk losing her lawyer. He agrees.
Rosalía has received a letter from Navarra, Spain in reference to a scholarship she applied for at the University of Navarra in Pamplona for advanced studies in gastroenterology. She has been accepted and approved for a scholarship covering her expenses for the time she is in the program.
Gloria has dropped out of the election for the good of the family. Manuel made her see that Juan David was the most . . . The good father tries to complete her thought with "competent." Gloria says that isn't it. Angelina offers the most capable, intelligent . . . No, Gloria decides he is the most . . . indigenous to the town! Manuel explained to her that in a town like this, it is important to be from here in order to be elected here. So, she is recognizing Juan David as being the right man for the presidency and telling her followers to vote for him. She adds when he is the president, he can give her a post in his administration. Juan David says first he has to win the election and the good father proposes a toast. It will be with coffee since Angelina cannot drink alcohol. The good father says to Manuel that he doesn't know what he did but it worked out for the best. They share a laugh. They toast Gloria and Juan David.
Carolina tells Juanita and Hugo that she cannot wait until she can return to Monteverde for good.
Carolina says she has to go to the inn to see the other women. Moisés winks at her. Oscar notices and asks what that is about. Moisés explains the wink was because . . . it sounded good to him. Carolina agrees it sounds good and she leaves with Andrés as Oscar remains confused.
Sara agrees to attend Oscar's party but has yet to come up with an idea of how to abduct Andrés. Carlos is sure she will co up with something wi because "I can't" isn't a part of her vocabulary.
Jarifa, your astute, revealing summary reflected all the emotions and undercurrents of these (not always) lovable but overall beloved characters. Your understanding of human nature is exceptional. Gloria and Father Gabriel's conversation was a diamond in the rough and thanks to you, it was polished and recorded perfectly. Every day you add so much but this was truly exceptional.
This golden nugget bears repeating in its entirety: "Gloria thinks that the good father might be annoying, fussy, eccentric, gossipy, obstinate and foolish but she has to recognize that deep down he is a very good person. The good father returns the favor by saying that although she is a gossip, a busybody, a manipulator, imprudent and self-centered, he has to recognize that she has shown herself not to be a bad person. They both laugh as he pours her more wine". Pure platinum.
I also loved that both Gabriel and Gloria admitted they are not in love with the girls' names. They have such a complicated relationship but hopefully now they go forward as friends.
Manuel also shares hard truths with Gloria which she finally accepts. Gloria is finally growing up a bit.
I had to smile though that Gloria never did answer the good father's question as to whether or not she intended to ask Juan David to drop out of the race after she paid his debt, did she? True to character, she did ask for a position once Juan David is elected.
Jarifa, you make everything about this wonderful TN even better. Every single day. Thank you.
Diana
I loved all the summary and comments Jarifa and Diana. This episode was a major gem in a tn that is full of gems. The banter between Gloria and the Padre was such fun. As they kept drinking, it got even better with the dancing and the Paso Doble!
I just love this show! We need many more!
Babachita
"Gem" is right Babachita!
The dancing and sparkling conversation was one of the many highlights here.
Yes, if only more shows were like this!
Diana
Diana, I am jealous that you are on the way to a good basketball viewing run! My Bear football season was over way too soon and now there is only news from the business side of building the team for next season.
I binge watched the first five episodes of "Mi rival ' and, like you, Diana,
have found the triangle plot a lot more understandable than what I had anticipated.
I am not sure if I will continue watching. It seems like nobody is really commenting on it. BTW, it has only 50 episodes. We have "Hermanas" with 80 episodes starting after "Monteverde." Too bad it is on so late. The best thing I have seen lately, after "Monteverde", is "Lobo, morir matando" on Telemundo with Arap Bethke in the starring role. I loved the first three episodes but don't see how they can expand the plot and keep my interest up for 77 more. I wish they would do more 10 episode series and then show ALL of the following seasons on free tv and not leave us hanging like Univision did with "Diana Salazar" and "Con esa misma mirada". Oh, well . . .
For anyone who has access to the Telemundo app, they have one of my favorite novelas now in their library.: "El Príncipe." It is longing and romance at its best with a beautiful leading lady and a very cute leading man plus plenty of action. It is a Spanish production.
Well Bruno is home from his stay in the Rehab center. He is home early, before completing the prescribed number of days. When the family was toasting the business deal with Larissa and Amandor, he was clearly drinking some kind of non alcoholic beverage. Madre Eloisa made sure to ask him about what kind of drink did he have. My guess is that Bruno will fall off the wagon soon.
He tried to give Aitana some kind of bracelet (Luciano was hiding to hear all of this). After Luciano left Aitana gave it back to him. She is trying to make it clear that there is nothing between them.
Eloisa, Mateo and Aitana was at the doctor's office to hear the good news that the cancer had been arrested. For some reason Mateo took his mother's illness worse. He is always seen comforting her and by her side. I wonder what that is all about? Eloisa is looking better and is even able to stand. She is as controlling as ever.
Meanwhile Nuria and Juanjo seem to begetting closer and closer. They are exceeding the layer/client boundaries.
Ximena is 5 weeks pregnant and having morning sickness. Michaela (her madrina) hears her throwing up and asks if she is pregnant and who is the father. She finally confesses that she is pregnant and that Zac is the father. Michaela tries to force her to tell Zac. Zac chases her down but she still won't tell.
Back to the family and this business deal, Inigo goes out to farm in his car and speaks with the man with whom he is conspiring. I don't understand what this deal is, but Luciano (I think) if putting up some of the family money.Larissa's dad is involved in the swindle, as is Inigo. At one point Amandor ( I think that's his name; Someone please correct me) gives a check to Nuria for her wedding planning services but asks her not to cash the check immediately.
In the final scene on Friday, Amandor takes his daughter Larissa and leaves after the toast. For some reason he wanted her away from them. Inigo comes in all upset and says some things about the whole swindle...... and the show ends.
I hope someone who understands what's going on will jump in and comment/clarify some of my lack of understanding.
Lester
Jarifa, I'll look for El Principe. I'm still waiting for the continuation of Diana Salazar!!! I guess they keep us hanging in the hopes you join their paid subscription.
Manuel definitely has a close (perhaps toxic) relationship with mom. Not sure about that backstory. Zac and Aitana are being a bit foolhardy getting keys to his place and searching it. If they really want to protect Ximena Zac should just get back together with her. Then he'll find out about the baby. I thought she was more than 5 weeks along, but not curious enough to watch it again to find out what was said.
I think amando and Larissa are skipping town with the money that Luciano invested in the new enterprise. Inigo comes in ranting about how his investigative reporter friend discovered they are bankrupt and they took the money and are leaving town. Iñigo is hoping to look like the savior of the company. I get the impression that Luciano has been the golden boy and Iñigo has been seen as a screw up, at least by his mother.
Hope that answers some questions. I got behind on the shows I'm watching so I just watched in real time without posting.
Jarifa, I am watching this show. I do thinks what they are saying, but can understand quite a but from the visual. I like the cast. ..Rulli, Arturo Peniche, And Berthe. The scenery is beautiful as are the gorgeous horses . Susan
Kat and Lester, thank you for the recaps. Inigio is crazy ..Smashing his own car windows with that tire iron and then going into Nuria's place and smashing things . This actor seems to only be cast as violent, crazy characters . Susan
Susan, he smashed Juanjo's car. Initially I thought he was attacking Nuria's but when he went in the house searching for Juanjo I realized what happened.
