Episode 116 #1 of 7

We start with a henchie from Tayyar finding Husseyn asleep on a park bench. When he tries to rouse him, Husseyn sits up with a pistol drawn. Henchie tells him to relax, they have been looking for him, no bad intentions. There must have been a misunderstanding. Husseyn says yeah, sure, a misunderstanding, because you will be killing me. Henchie tells him Mr. Tayyar wants us to help you. The police are after you. Henchie tells him he needs to come with him or the cops will find him that evening. Paranoid Husseyn’s eyes dart back and forth.

At the mansion, Asli brings Elif something to drink and asks if she is feeling better. Elif tells her that while at the cemetery she could see her mother and father and Bahar. It was last year, and it all seemed so real. Asli tells her those days are behind us. She tells her to think about today, the happiest day of her life.
Asli: You can’t be crying, you are about to marry. I promise Columbo will come and he will take care that you won’t be crying.
Elif: He will come, right?
Asli: What are you saying? Columbo would never miss this day. That man is crazy for you. Come on, get better, OK?
Asli leaves the room. Elif is still looking very unhappy, holding her drink and looking at her phone. It goes off with a message from Omer: Happy Birthday, Signorina. It has been wonderful knowing you. I will be thankful until my death every moment of happiness that there has been.
At a barber shop, Omer and Arda are getting their hair styled. Omer has a similarly serious expression to that of Elif. He remembers a previous conversation in the barber shop with Husseyn.

FLASHBACK: (at the barber shop)
Husseyn: You are my soul, you are very dear to me, Omer, and you know it.
Omer: And you are my brother. (Omer kisses Husseyn’s hand.)

Omer is still picturing this in his mind as his hair is being readied for the wedding. The barber asks if he wants the usual or a “groom shave?” Omer doesn’t answer, and Arda looks over. He calls his name and tells him people are talking to him. He asks if something is wrong. Omer doesn’t answer, so Arda asks the barber to give them a few minutes first. The barber agrees and both barbers leave. Arda looks directly at Omer.
Arda: Omer, this is not good. Snap out of it! You need to relax a bit.
Omer: The truth is I don’t know what to do.
Arda: You still haven’t decided if you’re going to talk about Husseyn before the wedding?
Omer listens to Arda, then throws the cape aside, takes his things and walks out, slamming the door.

At the mansion, a hairdresser is finishing up styling Elif’s hair. He tells her they hadn’t tried out anything before and wonders what she would like. She sighs and tells him he knows what she likes. She tells him to use his imagination, and it will be fine. He agrees and goes to get some tools.
Asli: Psst, look at me. You are acting very strange. What’s up? Are you sick? Might you be pregnant and haven’t told me?
Elif smiles ruefully at the joke: Omer is hiding something from me, Asli. I don’t know what it is. But I think Pelin and Arda know. They won’t tell me.
Asli: Well, they are looking for Husseyn.

Elif: I tried to think that maybe he’s sad for all that happened with Husseyn, but I saw him last night and he was very strange. He looked at me differently. He was distant. I’ve never seen him like this.
Asli: Perfect, then let’s do something. I’m going to call Columbo and ask him why you are so sad on this day, the most important of your life and besides it’s your birthday.
Elif begs her not to call him.
In walks Nedret, talking with Elvan by phone. She hangs up and sighs: I can’t believe it. I never knew people so calm in my whole life. It’s incredible. There are only two hours and they aren’t ready yet nor have they had their hair done.
Elif: And Omer, where is he, Aunt?
Nedret: You don’t have to worry about him. He’s all dressed and is getting his hair done.
Elif smiles at this.
Asli: See, there’s no reason to get so worried.

At Arda’s, Pelin is putting on makeup when her phone rings. It’s Arda.
Arda: Pelin, Omer is feeling bad. He came to the barber, but after five minutes, he left.
Pelin asks if he has told Elif yet about Husseyn. Arda tells her no.
Pelin: Let’s leave them alone awhile. You come here and we can go to the ceremony together.
Ipek has been listening and asks what Arda said.
Pelin: Omer hasn’t told her anything yet. Arda was with him but then Omer left. Ipek, Omer is very bad, he is devastated. For all that he wants to, he can’t find an exit for this situation. He doesn’t want to lie to Elif anymore. Husseyn will always come between them. Please help him, Ipek.
Ipek: But the only thing I want is to be a friend of Omer. I don’t want people to misunderstand.
Pelin: Ipek, then do a favor to Omer as a friend. You can’t imagine how desperate he feels.
Ipek: I don’t want to put myself between them. Omer won’t be happy if I do that.
Pelin: Don’t you see that he’s already unhappy? Isn’t that obvious? And, why does it matter so much to you what Omer thinks, or Elif? Ipek? Are you still in love with Omer? Tell me.
Ipek: This is absurd, Pelin, of course I’m not. That would be crazy. I’m going to go check on Yaz.
Pelin thinks while she sits and waits.

At a different place from earlier, Husseyn enters and asks why they have moved. The henchie says it was picked for him especially because the other place was no longer safe for him. Here you will stay so we don’t have any problems. Husseyn agrees and starts to take off his jacket. Henchie offers to do anything else he wants. Husseyn say no. Then he asks what the date is. Henchie tells him March 12. Husseyn recognizes the date, finishes taking his jacket off, and looks very sad.

Omer is back at Elvan’s house, standing below looking up at the house and well.

FLASHBACK: Adult Husseyn asks Adult Omer if he remembers the stairs they are on. He reminds him of when Omer was 6 years old and had a ball and some pepper bread. Both hands were occupied and Adult Omer starts laughing, remembering that he tripped at the top of the stairs and fell, taca taca taca down the stairs. Husseyn remembers that Elvan yelled saying I should run to help you, but I couldn’t’ catch you. Adult Omer tells him that Husseyn and Elvan are the people he most trusted in the world. He continues, telling him he knows he will help him when he falls. Husseyn pats him on the shoulder. Then he offers him a hand so they can go back up. Husseyn tells him to resolve the murder so that he finally can get it out of his head.

It’s hard to tell how far back that flashback was.
Omer sits on a step, smiling at the memory. Then his expression gets more sober. As he sits there a feminine hand reaches out to him, he looks up and smiles, but we don’t see who it is. She is dressed nicely so might be Ipek, Elif, or Sibel.

Elif is getting into her bridal dress, helped by her sisters. They put a striking gold headpiece that looks like something she designed. It gives her an exotic look. The sisters smile at one another.

Husseyn is pacing around the new location. He is tempted to use the telephone and dials. He has called a flower shop. He tells them he wants to make a flower order. They ask what to put on the card: For the wedding of Demir and Denizer from their brother, Husseyn Demir.
The florist agrees to the order.

Back at the mansion, the girls are putting on the veil, hooking it to the exotic headpiece. They are pleased with their work. Nilufer says it’s like Cinderella. They joke about feeling envy of the princess and mention the coach turning into a pumpkin and the prince turning into a frog. Elif asks who the older princess is. Asli says she will be the bad witch on a broom. There’s a knock at the door and Nedret oozes into the room. She says she is sorry to interrupt but there’s someone there to see Elif. In walks Ipek. Elif manages to hold on to her smile. Ipek stays very solemn, however.

At the hospital, we see Tayyar still hooked up to various machines. He looks really bad and is obviously groggy. He calls for the nurse in a very weak voice. I wonder if he has a button to use, but he doesn’t seem to know about it. He is struggling hard to breathe.

Nedret takes the sisters out, leaving Elif and Ipek. Elif says all she needs are the rings and goes to get them. She tells Ipek she appreciates her being there.
Ipek: I actually came because I have something important to tell you.
Elif: It can’t wait until after? Guests are arriving and I have a surprise for Omer and want to be downstairs when he comes.
Ipek: I only need a couple of minutes.
Elif tries again: We can talk after the ceremony, OK?
Elif starts to leave. Ipek: Omer is hiding something from you.
This stops Elif. She turns to Ipek.
Elif: Do you know what it is?
Ipek: I thought Omer would have told you, but he couldn’t. This is why I decided to tell you myself. This is hard for me, but you need to know it. The father of my son isn’t Serhat; Yagiz is Omer’s son. Omer has known about this for a while, and that is why he hasn’t been the same with you. You probably knew that something was going on. Omer wasn’t able to tell you. So, that is why I had to come.
Elif is very impactada.
Ipek runs down the stairs to leave the mansion. Nedret catches her at the front door.
Nedret: You did the right thing for everyone, I promise. I am very grateful.
Nedret holds out her hand for Ipek to shake. Ipek looks at it, gives Nedret a hateful look, and turns around and leaves.

Henchie comes in looking for Husseyn who is sitting on the couch. He tells him he has good news. Mr. Tayyar has awakened. Husseyn finds that encouraging. He says we need to send you far away and you will be leaving the country in a pair of hours. Husseyn starts to grin.

At the mansion, Asli’s son is walking around looking out the windows. It sounds like the guests are all there. Levent walks into the living room. Nilufer greets him. He says he might be early, but Nilufer says only a few guests are missing. Suddenly they hear Asli calling out: Elif, wait! Elif runs down the stairs in her wedding dress, out the front door, and down the stairs. Nedret catches Asli and tells her to wait. Asli says she needs to go with her. Nedret gets very loud and tells her to do what she says and leave her alone. The sisters look at one another and still walk outside to watch Elif from the garden balcony.

Husseyn shaves, changing his facial hair. He colors his hair.

As Elif runs along the water, she casts off her veil and runs past an Istanbul dog, until she finds Omer, standing along the water, not dressed for a wedding. They look at one another. She walks past him. He calls out her name. She turns to look at him.

At the mansion, Nedret is still trying to keep the sisters there, but they run out to find Elif. Asli can see Elmer on the waterfront from the garden balcony. Asli says, excitedly: Look, there’s Omer! Good job, Columbo.
Asli is smiling. The girls are both smiling and say: Problem solved.
Nedret: Do you really believe that? Obviously, there was a problem between them. Ipek came this afternoon and talked with Elif and things aren’t right.
Nilufer: No one can put themselves between Omer and Elif, aunt. Once they are together, no one can separate them.
Asli says she can’t say it as romantically as Nilufer, but she agrees. The girls smile at their aunt.
Thus dismissed, Nedret walks away to greet some guests.

Omer and Elif look at one another.
Elif: I was coming here to ask what we’re going to do. I notice you’re not dressed as a groom. Looks like you made the decision without me. You stopped our wedding in both our names. Can you tell me what the reason is? I don’t even have the right to ask you. You stole that, as you stole all my dreams, my hopes, and also my illusions. My father and you made my birthday a cursed one, Omer.
Elif starts pushing hard him in the chest, trying to get a reaction. Tell me something! It doesn’t matter if it’s a lie or not, just say something, please.
Omer: Elif,
Elif: I thought you wanted a different life, without lies, that both of us were looking for the same things, that we would never hide anything, Omer. What happened with those promises? Tell me something. Tell me what you know. We started this together and we are going to end it together. That’s how it must be. I don’t know why you’re doing this. Just tell me the truth so we can end this thing properly, Omer.
Omer: I didn’t want it to be like this. I had no choice, Elif. It’s better to stop now, before we go forward. It would have been more painful later. (A tear rolls down Omer’s cheek.)
[I am noticing here that they are talking about two different things. She thinks he has broken up because of Yaz, and he is really breaking up because his brother killed her father.]
Elif looks at him muy impactada.
We hear a sad Turkish song while they look at one another. The sisters are watching from their garden balcony.
Nilufer: It looks like Elif is crying.

Asli: No, they aren’t a normal couple. They will come back to us hand in hand. Omer hasn’t come to end the relationship, did he?
Nilufer: Asli, look at Omer. He isn’t even wearing his bridegroom clothing. Allah, please help them be happy. Break the curse of the unlucky Denizer. We haven’t been able to be like this, let them be happy.
Elif looks at Omer for a long time and then walks past him. He turns to watch her, his face showing pain, love, and I think, admiration.
She walks past her fallen veil, leaving it symbolically behind. She walks slowly up the stairs to be met by her sisters, who help her walk the rest of the way.
Elif agrees to go inside.

Down below, Omer walks up to the veil. He picks it up, inhales its aroma, and smiles wistfully, saying: Elif, forgive me, please.

Upstairs, the marriage official asks Nedret how long it will be because he has another event. Nedret asks him to wait just a little bit longer. Levent is watching all this closely, and Filiz says she will find out what happened. Elif and sisters walk into the area where the ceremony was to be held. Elif, always so strong and poised, speaks to the guests:
Thank you for waiting, but today there won’t be any wedding.
Elif turns and leaves.

Husseyn, looking very different and distinguished (except for his bruises) with dark hair and mustache and dressed in a vested suit, walks into the main room. He tells the henchies he is ready and to call Tayyar. The henchies smile at him. Husseyn asks why they are laughing. Do they see a clown? He tells them not to waste any more time and to call Tayyar. Ask him if the plane is ready. He watches one henchie making a call. Husseyn continues to be paranoid, and I think with good reason.

At the mansion, Elif arrives in her room. She sits on the bed, trying to process all of this. She looks at her reflection in the mirror. She reaches up and removes her headpiece.

We see Tayyar barely alert in his hospital bed. He calls out for the doctor in a very pitiful little voice. The doctor asks him what he wants. He asks the doctor what happened. Did he lose his kidney? The doctor tells him that unfortunately he has lost the kidney. Tayyar mumbles that Fatih was a good shot. He then asks his condition. Will he continue to live?
Doctor: You are better now. There were critical hours before this. It’s a miracle you are still alive, Mr. Tayyar. You might have died, sir, but don’t worry, we will find a kidney for you.
Tayyar: I hope so. I have things to do, I can’t be wasting my time. I intend to live for a very long time.
Tayyar cackles a laugh and the doctor joins him.
A nurse peeks in and tells the doctor that some police are there wanting to talk with Tayyar. Tayyar tells her to let them in. The doctor reminds him he needs rest.
Two policemen walk in and tell him they hope he will get better. They tell him they need his information to take the investigation further.
Tayyar: That’s fine. It’s our duty always to help the police.
Cop 1: Who shot you?
Tayyar: I don’t know. I didn’t see.
Cop 2: You did see, Mr. Tayyar.

Tayyar: How could you know better than I? I said I didn’t see.
Cop 1: The street cameras saw it. According to our information, you were in front of the man who shot you, and you were talking to him.
Copp 2: We have testimonies as well. The man who shot you is Fatih Dundar. Do you want to file charges against your son?
Tayyar’s eyes go back and forth while he considers this.

At Elvan’s, we see Elvan and Melike seated in the living room as Fatma rushes in. She tells Elvan to put some ice on her head. She put some medicine on it. Menthol will calm the pain. Elvan thanks her and starts to put the scarf on her head. Suddenly, they hear loud yelling from outside. Omer is using a pickaxe to break up the stones of the well. He is yelling with every stroke. Fatma and Elvan watch from their window. We get a view from inside the well, as rocks fall inside.
Omer hears Elif in his head saying: He’s honest and valiant, like your family. If I were you, I wouldn’t want to ruin this.

Elif is still sitting on her bed in her wedding dress. She hears Omer in her head saying: Elif, this isn’t a romance, a simple love. You are my life. You are my love; you are everything for me. The destiny of that night united us. If we hadn’t held each other’s hand, we wouldn’t have gone forward. That’s how it is. Relationships may seem the same, and memories can react with one another, but this life is the real thing. You are my life, Elif. I can’t imagine my life without you. I can’t breathe without you. I can’t live without you.

We see Omer still trying to destroy the well and making good progress. Melike starts to go join him, but Elvan tells her she will go. Elvan arrives as he is throwing stones in by hand. He looks at his hand with a stone, yelling at it: How could you do this to me? (Over and over.)
Elvan: Son, wait, Omer, stop and leave this. Let’s …
Omer: Leave me in peace, leave me.
Elvan: I can’t let my son hurt his soul. Please, don’t do this, son. Come, get up and leave this.
Elvan reaches to help him up: My poor son, you are so wounded. If you say that you love her so much, why did you cancel the wedding? Why? Have you poisoned your heart and your mind during so much time? Tell me.
Omer: I’m burning. I don’t want you to burn with me.
He walks away from Elvan.
Elvan: If you take one more step, I will erase you from my heart. Now that you are a man, you thought you could do things behind my back. All my life I taught you good things, to you and your brother. Now look at me in my face and tell me what’s going on. Why did you leave Elif in her wedding dress? Omer, if you don’t answer me, I will go see Elif. She will tell me all she knows. Whatever your problem is, she will tell me.
Elvan starts walking up to the house.
Omer: Elif knows nothing.
Elvan turns around in surprise.
Omer: Today, I destroyed the love of my life. I was an idiot, Mom.
Elvan: Tell me, son, why? She gave you a new life. You breathe thanks to her. Omer, you looked so happy with her.

Omer tries to get words out. He finally speaks: I found the murderer of her father. The same that killed the daughter of Fatma, the murderer of Sibel. I found what I’ve been looking for all year, and it was in front of my eyes all the time, Mom.
Elvan is very impactada: Omer?
Omer: My eyes were blind as well as my mind.
Elvan: It was Husseyn, the one who murdered them?
Elvan starts to rub her left arm, not a good sign. She grabs at her heart
Omer runs to her as she falls to the ground.
Melike and Fatma are watching from the window and react! Fatma tells Melike to run as she follows. Omer hollers for Melike. He calls for an ambulance.

Back at the mansion, Elif is putting memories into a box, lots of pictures of them as a couple. She pauses and looks at one of the pictures.

FLASHBACK: Elif remembers Omer proposing on bended knee in front of her sisters and Nedret: Let my life be combined with yours. Do you want to marry me, Elif? She kneels down to his level and tells him: Yes, Signor, I’ll be your wife.

Elif throws that picture in the box as well. She also finds the DVD of Roman Holiday.

FLASHBACK: Elif and Omer are spending the day sightseeing in Rome and are at the Bocca della Verita (Mouth of Truth) statue. Omer laughs and tells her she has brought him to the wrong place. They kiss in front of the statue.

Elif is about to put the DVD in the box when she finds some airplane tickets.

FLASHBACK: There is a note from Omer about his New Year’s resolutions for 2015, last New Year’s: During the week we will go to the movies, and also to a concert. The rest of the time while in Rome he leaves to her to plan, since it is her second home. She also finds receipts for the wedding band.

She puts these things in the box as well. She notices her engagement ring on her hand as she is filling the box. She removes her rings and holds them, remembering.

Thanks, Babachita! I kind of hated this episode but your recap is fab!

I hate that Ipek did the dirty work!!! I was hoping she wouldn't and she shouldn't have! I can't believe any Pelin encouraged her to do it! It's so wrong! Elif is right, Omer is being a coward and his friends line up to support him?? It's one thing that Omer thought of it - he's shocked and hurting and not thinking correctly - but everyone else should have encouraged him to do the right thing. Instead Pelin pressures Ipek to do the wrong thing to 'help' Omer! It's so cringeworthy. Ipek should have gone and told Elif the truth.... Omer can't bring himself to do it, he needs Ipek to intervene? Fine, intervene with the truth!

I really didn't like Nilu or Asli's makeup in this episode, they both looked garish especially Asli. They are beautiful girls, but they looked harsh, I guess it's a visual cue of how we feel about the wedding??

Huso might be paranoid for good reason, but I think if they want to kill him now, it's probably because of the trouble he's given them. Though Tayyar is capable of anything, I'm somewhat surprised he pretended not to know he was Fatih who shot him, but only a little.

Yes, this was a terrible episode. I wanted to wring Omer's neck. No lies is his "thing". I have to remember that his life was destroyed. Ugh, Pelo and Ipek.

Melike begs Elvan to hold on. Fatma administers cologne to Elvan. Omer is impatient for the ambulance to arrive. They lift Elvan up.

Nedret is alone in the living room. Filiz enters. The press is calling nonstop. They want to know why the wedding was canceled. Nedret is upset. Asli comes in and asks, did Elif tell you why the wedding was canceled? What would she say, Nedret snaps, isn’t it obvious? That girl, Ipek, came and said a lot of bad things to my beautiful girl. Asli wonders what Ipek said.

Ah my beautiful Asli, you’re still asleep, Nedret replies. I’ll tell you Ipek’s son is Omer’s. I told Elif my suspicions. She didn’t take them seriously and now, look what happened. The woman came and sang like a nightingale. All hell broke loose. That’s the issue. What is this, Asli asks, a soap opera (pembe dizi)? This is nonsense.

Hulya interrupts. She asks Nedret and Asli for help. Elif is sitting like a ghost in front of a box. Asli runs. Nedret follows. They find Elif sitting on the floor next to the bed, staring. Her hands are on the box. Nedret prompts, my dear, say something. She orders Huyla to bring cologne. Elif doesn’t respond to Nedret at all. Asli asks to be alone with her sister for two minutes.

Asli begins, Elif you’re there, you can hear me, I know. I’m with you. Don’t scare me. My own half-brain is about to fly away. What happened, Elif? Asli gets desperate. Elif, please say something. Please! I’ll call a doctor. Is what she said true? Is Ipek’s son Omer’s?

Elif nods yes and turns to her sister. Asli, have you ever realized that you didn’t know someone you thought you knew very well? What’s good, what’s bad? What’s wrong, what’s right? Elif closes the box and slides it under the bed. Did you want to die? Let me die and forget everything that happened. Did you want to get rid of the pain? [I think Asli knows this feeling too well.]

Please, please, don’t you dare, Asli pleads, don’t even think about such a thing. The komiser killed me today, Elif says, he transformed me into the Elif of a year ago. Helpless… aimless… not knowing what to do. Running from place to place. Will this pass? When will it pass? I’m tired. Elif puts her head down on the bed. With tears in her eyes, Asli hurries out of the room.

Elvan arrives at the ER. Omer is holding her hand begging her not to let go. Melike and Fatma follow them insidel. The EMT tells the doc that Elvan’s heart stopped and they did CPR. Omer tells the doc his mom has high blood pressure. The doc tells Omer he has to wait outside now. Melike cries, Omer, let her go. They take Elvan in. Demet comes to the ER and rushes into Omer’s arms. Is grandma going to die? She’ll be fine, Omer says hopefully. Melike adds, she won’t leave us. She will see you in your wedding dress.

Melike calls Omer aside. Don’t get angry. Don’t say this isn’t the time or place. I can’t stand it. Your situation isn’t good. You destroyed the well. You said there wouldn’t be a wedding. You’re hiding something. You told mother, didn’t you, Omer? Please tell me, I beg you. You told her and that’s why this happened. Omer looks for the words to tell Melike. Demet calls out to Omer. They need something for the procedure. They’re calling you. Omer leaves Melike.

A henchie holds Tayyar’s phone for him so he can speak with Huseyin. Are you okay, Tayyar asks. I’m good, Huso replies, how are you? I heard your situation is bad. Don’t ask, Tayyar says, I lost a kidney again. But you and Fatih couldn’t finish me off. I’m still alive, thank God. I still have breath. And I have a lot of work to do. Huso asks when are you getting me out? Omer must be looking for me.

Tayyar says he needs to prepare his man at the airport. Otherwise, you’d have to present your ID and that would be a problem. Huso is ticked. I’m counting seconds and you’re telling me stories! You’re playing a game with me! This is child’s play for you! Tell me, do you have other plans?

Tayyar takes the phone from his guy and motions for him to go. I have no other plan. I just got off the operating table. Did I have the chance? I’ll get you out by plane, trust me. You’ll have to wait. Huso has no choice. He asks, did you arrange the house? Money? Tayyar says yes. Give the usb to my guy, don’t worry about the rest.

Yeah, right, Huso answers, first I’ll get on the plane and to the house. Then you’ll get your docs. I also want money up front. Tayyar says okay we’ll do it your way. Huso asks about Omer and Elif. Did they get married? Tayyar says he doesn’t know. He’s been sick in bed. Besides, what is it to you? This is the end for you. No more Omer. Forget your family. Say farewell and start a new life in Denmark. You’ll love it. Tayyar ends the call.

Arda, Pelin, and Ipek come to the squad room. Tolga enters with the forensic reports. The bullets that killed, Ahmet Denizer, Sibel Andac, and Bahar Cinar came from that gun. The same gun that was in the well at Huseyin’s house. Arda asks if Huso’s fingerprint was on the gun. Tolga says there was no clear print.

Arda exclaims, Allah Kahretsin! Pelo tells him to calm down and says, the bullets match. The gun came out of the well that Huseyin Abi threw it into. Arda thinks Huso will say he’s being framed. Ipek says that Fatih was a witness to Bahar’s murder. Huseyin Demir is a fugitive, Arda says, how do we know if Tayyar will kill Fatih before he can testify. He shot his father. Would Tayyar let him get away with it?

Pelo reminds Arda that Fatih is in protective custody. Ali and Huseyin are not around to snitch. We hold the strings now. Arda thinks it’s useless, Huso has escaped, and thanks to Tayyar, he’ll get away with it. Pelo replies, he can get away from you, me, and the rest of the police, but he can’t get away from Omer. We’ll help him. Can you understand how Omer feels? Omer lost his future and the girl he loved because of his brother. If we need to stay up all night, we will find his brother. Pelo heads for the door. Arda asks, where are you going? To find Svetlana, she replies, maybe Huseyin Abi went to Russia to be with her. Arda gripes and follows her.

Neighbors have gathered in front of the Demir home. They hope that Elvan is okay. Asli drives up. The ladies stop her as she heads for the house. Are you here to see Elvan? Asli says yes, and she’s going to talk to Omer. The ladies tell her they took Elvan to the hospital. Asli heads there.

Elif lies in bed. She holds her rings in her hand and lets them slide to the floor.

Melike is speaking with someone on the phone. Her heart stopped on the way. She’s critical. Allah’a emanet artık. (she’s entrusted to God now.) I’ll let you know. Thank you for calling.

Asli shows up and gives Omer a shove. My sister was left helpless, Omer. You’re a disgusting man. Heartless! How could you do this to my sister!? She shoves him again. How could you leave Elif at the wedding table and go? Do you realize you left a funeral at home? You ruined my sister’s life!

Melike and Fatma look and listen. Asli continues to shout, Elif put you in her father’s place! In her mother's place. You weren’t just her lover. You shattered her family, her world. You deceived us all! We loved you! We trusted you! If you couldn’t do this, why didn’t you come and talk to my sister like a human being? She deserved that at least!

Omer just stands like a stone. Asli prods, say something! Omer, say something! She shoves him. What’s the problem? You’re good at talking tough, right? He says nothing and walks away from her. She follows him and shouts for answers. Melike stops her. What do you mean, stop? Asli asks her, do you know what he did? I know you’re hurt, Melike replies, but why don’t you ask us why we’re here? Elvan Anne had a heart attack. She’s fighting for her life. Stop and consider. You’re not the only one suffering here. That takes some of the fire out of Asli.

Ipek works in the squad room. She finds the neck warmer that Omer wore. Did you have any doubt she would sniff it? She thinks about Omer holding Yagiz.

Asli exits the hospital and finds Omer sitting on a bench. She warns him to never come near Elif again. He stops her from leaving. Unfortunately, you can’t choose your family, he tells her. Both troubles and solutions come from them. Elif is very lucky to have someone like you. Don’t leave her alone. Asli replies, and you call me crazy… but I think you’re all crazy. You should see a doctor while you’re here. And I hope Elvan Hanim gets well soon.

Nilufer comes to visit Fatih. They are behind glass. He asks, why did you come, my beautiful girl? I wanted to see you, she replies, I need you so much. He asks, what happened? Shouldn’t you be at the wedding now? Nilu shakes her head. The wedding didn’t happen. Elif is devastated. She’s in pain. I didn’t know what to do. I had to leave the house. I came here.

Fatih asks if Elif learned everything. Nilu nods, yes, she did. Omer has a son. Fatih asks, he has a son? It’s not what he expected to hear.

Elif has changed out of her dress and packs it away. Hulya enters and Elif tells her to take the dress and give it to someone who needs it. It didn’t bring me luck but maybe it will to someone else. Hulya is hesitant. Do as I ask, Elif says and hands her the box.

Asli comes in and sits next to Elif on the bed. Are you feeling better? She tells Elif she saw Omer. Elif is upset. Why would you do this? Do you think I’m that hopeless and pathetic? Aren’t you helpless, Asli answers, you’ve completely collapsed, you’ve lost yourself. You shouldn’t have gone without asking me, Elif scolds. I was very scared, Asli explains, I was worried. You are my dear one, I asked for an explanation. What’s wrong with that?

Aren’t you curious about what Omer said, Asli asks. I’m not, Elif snaps back. I don’t want to know. I know you are, Asli replies, but he wasn’t in the mood anyway. Elvan Hanim had a heart attack. They are at the hospital. Elif is shocked. Which hospital? Asli says, you’re not going anywhere. Of course I’m going, Elif insists, which hospital? Asli crosses her arms. Fine, Elif says, I’ll find it. She runs out of the room. Asli follows.

Nedret sees Elif and asks what’s going on. Asli fills her in. Elif puts her coat on. Nedret tells Elif they will call instead. There’s no need to go. Elif is determined. Melike and Demet must be devastated. Don’t you realize what these people are doing to you, Asli asks, Omer left you on your wedding day! Elif says, Elvan Anne is probably like this because of us. Omer might be out of my life, but that doesn't mean I should turn my back on the rest of them.

Elif leaves the house. Levent arrives. I was worried about you, he says, I came to check, are you okay? I’m not okay, she replies. We see Nedret looking at them from inside the house. Levent asks if there’s anything he can do. We can go somewhere and sit and talk. Would you like that? Elif explains, I’d love to, but I have to go somewhere now. Let’s do it later. Levent says, okay, whenever you want. Elif leaves.

Nedret comes out of the house and greets Levent. She asks him to come in. He explains he was worried and came. But it seems Elif had something to attend to. Nedret says, we will be fine. This will pass. Come… let’s chat for a bit. Coffee? She takes Levent to the living room. Asli looks pleased. Levent wonders if they can do anything for Elif. I don’t know, Nedret replies, I thought these things only happen in the movies. It’s all happening to us. We’ll get through this together, inshallah.

Levent says, we were so careful. I don’t know how the press found out. They are all in front of the company building. I called the editors to make sure they won’t bother you at home. If we don’t make a statement, their curiosity will only increase. They will eventually find Elif somewhere and bother her. Nedret tells Levent to call his press contacts. Tell them that the mother of Elif’s fiancé had a very serious heart attack and that is why the wedding was postponed. What do you think?

Back to the prison visit. Wow, Fatih says, my BIL turned out to be a master liar. What a show! Bravo! Nilu doesn’t understand. What show? Was that a lie? He hesitates. She asks, tell me what you know. I can’t, beautiful, he replies, I need to talk to Elif. She’s devastated, Nilu answers, maybe what you tell me will help ease her pain. Please tell me. Is it true about the boy? Do as I say, he tells her, I need to talk to Elif first. Tell her to come tomorrow. Visiting time is over. Nilu wants more time. Fatih is taken away.

The henchie brings Huso a briefcase full of cash, with regards from Tayyar Bey. Huso says, give him my regards, and thanks, too. The guy nods and turns to go. Huso asks where he’s going. Upstairs. Huso asks him not to leave. I’m stressed and nervous. We could have a drink first. A drink? The guy is surprised. He says okay.

Elif arrives at the hospital and makes her way to the ICU. Demet and Omer bring food and drink to the others. Hasan sits by himself. Omer notices and takes something to him. Come on… you can’t go on like this, he tells the boy. Hasan says, amca, dad’s not here, grandma is dying, what are we going to do? Grandma will get better, inshallah, Omer replies. Elif sees Omer sitting with Hasan. She stares.

Arda, Pelo, and Ipek arrive at the hospital, worried about Elvan.

Omer sees Elif. His spirit lifts. She stares, then she walks right past him without a look or a word. She hugs Melike. Geçmiş olsun. She greets Fatma. We are devastated, Melike says, you know what it’s like to be motherless. You understand our fear. It will pass, Elif says. Elif hugs Demet. Omer stands and watches this.

Omer’s buddies arrive at the ICU. Arda spots Elif. Pelo notes that Elif is such a good person to come. Ipek begs off. Give my best wishes to Omer. I’ll see you later.

Huso pours the drinks and the henchie finds a song on his phone. They drink. Huso asks, is your family here? They are in my hometown, henchie says. How do you endure it, Huso asks, the longing? It’s hard at first, henchie says, but then you get used to it. But hearing their voices makes my heart break. You have to be strong.

I know, Huso says wistfully, I never left my mother’s side. She’s my dearest one. Wife, children, brother… we all lived together. What will I do in a foreign land? What do you think? Can I endure it? All I have is here. Is it enough? Huso takes photos out of his pocket. Here is my mother. How bright is her face. She has a heart like cotton. I can smell her scent.

Here’s my first born, Huso smiles, my daughter, Demet. She was so small when they gave her to me, her face was so wrinkled. She grew up so quickly. She’s beautiful. The henchie looks touched by this. Huso shows him a pic of Hasan. My darling boy, a bit of a glutton. He’s a very sensitive child, very emotional, sometimes mischievous. He wants to be a policeman when he grows up, like his uncle and me. He wants to fight the bad guys. If he only knew his father is one of the bad guys.

Huso has a photo of Burhan. My youngest son. I will see him because his mother will take him to see me even to the ends of the earth. But Melike won’t let me see my children. She won’t even let me see the tip of their fingernails. She’s right though. My children don’t deserve such a dishonorable father. If they knew what I did, they wouldn’t want to see me either. Huso sniffles, I ruined my own family.

And we are out.

Thanks, Dondi! I was so hoping Fatih would do us all a solid and tell Nilu the truth, but no!!! Come on someone, spill the beans!

I understand Asli ire but Melike was right, she should have asked why everyone was in the hospital before going off on Omer. It shows that she has a good heart though that she was silenced by the news of Elvan.

I really hope Levent doesn't ramp up his pursuit of Elif with Nedret's blessing. I'm actually surprised she approves of Levent - I expected her to be more highbrow and look for a count or something. Levent doesn't even come from money I don't think.

Excellent summary, Dondi. The episode is sad on many fronts. Huso is getting ready to leave. At least that’s his plan. I wonder if he can be a donor for Tayyar…? Wait til he finds out about Elvan! Will he still leave?

Elif finally snapped to when she heard of Elvan. She was thoughtful, of course, and swallowed her pride to go to the hospital.

i like how the sisters are looking out for each other. I hope they can squash Nedret!

Getting ready to post #118 now. This one ended up very short and sweet for a couple reasons. One I was just in the mood to condense more than usual and two I think there were just a lot of scenes with more silence, and less dialogue has people are reeling from recent events.
 

KPA 118 part 1 of 3

In the hallway of the hospital, we see that Elif is still waiting – but away from Omer. Arda and Pelo brief Omer on the latest in the investigation. Arda explains that Tayyar’s men are being interrogated to learn how they planned to smuggle Hussein out of the country. They’re waiting for permission to listen to phone calls, though organized crime already has some recordings. Pelo adds that the gun found in the well matches the weapon used to kill Bahar, Sibel, and Ahmed. She reassures Omer that Elif can’t overhear them and steps away to check on Elif.
Arda tells Omer that Elif is probably waiting for news about his mother. Omer recalls something Elif once said about how painful distance is. He admits the separation is not just difficult — it’s devastating, something his heart can barely contain.

Pelo tries to comfort Elif, but Elif is deeply hurt. She feels betrayed, believing Pelo was her friend and confidante, yet she hid the truth and stayed close to Ipek. She asks when Pelo learned the truth and why she didn’t tell her. Pelo tries to come up with a defense but she just can’t find the words. Overwhelmed, Elif leaves for the cafeteria.

Pelo admits to Omer that they hurt Elif badly. Omer insists that if they had married and she later learned his brother killed her father, her pain would have been far worse. He couldn’t let that happen. (So tell her the truth BEFORE the wedding!)

Hussein, injured and hiding, continues to drink with the henchie. He speaks about Omer — calling him half of his soul — and condemns himself for stabbing him. He warns the dude not to sacrifice family for power or money, saying it turns a person into a monster like him. But before this conversation began Huso’s eyes went absolutely starstruck at the suitcase full of money Tayyar sent him so Huso’s love of money isn’t completely dead.

Omer gives Demet some food and asks Hasan to take some to Elif. Hasan calls Elif “aunt,” but she gently tells him she isn’t his aunt anymore. The doctor arrives and announces that Elvan is alive, stabilized, and will be moved to a room. Everyone thanks God.

Elif tries to leave, but Melike begs her to wait so Elvan can see her. Elif refuses, too emotionally raw. Elif regrets coming to the hospital, feeling she only hurt herself more. Omer just left her standing there and said nothing, she calls Asli and tells her she was a fool to come here but Asli tells her that love doesn’t end just because a relationship ends. Elif still loves Omer and so she’s going to hurt. Elif sees Ipek arriving and she insists that some stories end so others can begin.

Elvan wakes and speaks with Omer. He apologizes, but she tells him he is not the one who should apologize — Hussein is. She demands Omer find Hussein so she can confront him. Omer begs her to rest. She is the only thing he has left and he couldn’t bear to lose her too! Their conversation is interrupted by the family arriving to fawn over Elvan. Omer leaves the room.

Ipek is now in the hospital and even though she’s said nothing out loud, it seems clear she’s making strides toward trying to get closer emotionally to Omer. She keeps touching him and he’s uncomfortable. She congratulates him on his mother’s recovery, and when he tries to leave abruptly, she brings up the lie about Yağız’s paternity, worried Elif might investigate. Omer insists Elif won’t — she’s too proud. He apologizes for dragging Ipek into the lie. She says it’s fine and leaves to greet his mother.

Julia tells Nedret the news is spreading everywhere. Levent arrives; Nedret asks him to stay because she wants to discuss something important — Elif.

 

KPA 118 part 2 of 3

Omer returns to the station and updates the team: his mother is stable. They still have no leads on Hussein. Omer reminds them that Melike mentioned a secret phone. Pelo encourages optimism — one small clue could lead them to Hussein.

Nedret argues that Omer and Elif were incompatible — different backgrounds, different lives. She claims Levent and Elif would be perfect together. She urges him to stay close to Elif during this difficult time, especially since it’s her birthday. Levent agrees to be there for her if she allows it. I can’t believe this woman is still heartless scheming while Elif is devastated!

Elif arrives home surprised to see Levent still there. Levent explains he stayed because Nedret invited him. He offers to take Elif for a walk, but she’s exhausted and wants to sleep. He leaves politely.

Asli and Nilüfer enter Elif’s room and insist on sleeping with her. They tease each other about not having enough room in the bed, trying to make Elif smile. It works a little and it’s a sweet sisterly scene. They remind her she protected them all year — now it’s their turn to protect her.

Arda leaves to get tea and Pelo notices Omer still wears his ring. He says he’ll wear it even if Elif marries someone else — it gives meaning to his life. Pelo asks if he’s prepared for the possibility that she could marry someone else and he admits he’s terrified of losing her forever and regrets involving Ipek.

The two henchmen discuss how drunk Huso got the night before. They prepare to move Hussein soon — the plane will be ready in an hour. They mention the wedding cancellation.

Arda thanks a guy for bringing them tea and food. Omer discovers a new phone recording — it’s the call from Hussein to Tayyar that Huso made in the store when he borrowed the phone. They finally have a lead. Omer orders them to find the address immediately.

At the store, Omer shows his badge and asks about Hussein. The owner remembers him — Hussein borrowed his phone, left 20 liras, and walked away alone. He arrived and left on foot. Omer concludes Hussein must be nearby and orders the team to collect security footage from every café and restaurant.

A henchman brings Hussein soup, but Hussein snaps at him, refusing to eat. He checks the briefcase, it’s still full of money.

Nilüfer walks into the breakfast room and asks where Elif is — Julia says she went to her other house to get her things. Elif is indeed alone in the house she was going to share with Omer, packing up her things slowly.

 

KPA 118 part 3 of 3

Ipek prepares Yağız for the day. Nedret arrives and praises Ipek for “doing the right thing.” Ipek says not to thank her because she didn’t do it because Nedret asked her to. Nedret wants to know why Ipek did it if it wasn’t because she was asked…Ipek tries to avoid Nedret’s question and claims to be running late. Proper Nedret pays lip service to the idea that it was rude to come without calling first but she’s still very curious what Ipek means by not doing it for the reasons Nedret thinks. Ipek says her reasons don’t matter, what is done is done. Nedret disagrees, besides she’s a good ally. Ipek may need her help with Omer. Ipek says Nedret misunderstands her, she has no intention of manipulating anyone or acting behind Omer’s back. Nedret isn’t put off and says Ipek cleared the way no matter what and she’ll always be there if Ipek needs her, Ipek assures her it won’t be necessary. They wish each other a good day.

The doctor tells Tayyar they found a kidney but can’t operate yet — Tayyar is too weak. The doc says if Tayyar were anyone else he’d be concerned but since it’s Tayyar he’s sure things will work out – cockroaches don’t die. Tayyar reads the news about the canceled wedding and demands to make a call. But before he can a nurse enters and informs Tayyar he has visitors.

Omer and Arda have found Tayar in the hospital. Tayyar mocks them, acting honored by their visit. Omer accuses him of kidnapping Hussein. Tayyar denies everything and taunts Omer about Elif not knowing the truth about her father’s murder. Omer tells Tayyar he better not die; he’s got to live so he can take him to prison himself.

I'm commenting about 116/117 before I watch 118. I think Elif being so upset about the child he supposedly has with Ipek was overblown on her part. Their relationship was years ago. He didn't know he was the boys "father" until now so it was a surprise to him too. Of course he was looking for a way to cancel the wedding without divulging the truth about Huso. They should be able to work out this parentage problem. See, Omer seeing the dress was bad luck! She definitely needed to donate it.

Huso looks quite different with his hair and mustache dyed. His face looks more full. I preferred his salt and pepper look.
