#45 part 1
We are starting with a small edit: Seyran has prepared the salad. She looks through the glass doors and watches Ferit grilling the meat outside. We see a slight smile from her. She goes outside, and he gives her a piece to try. He eats some, too. They are all smiles.
Seyfer finish dinner. Why are you doing this, she asks, why do you want to fix this? Not that you’re going to be able to. Why try? You didn’t go abroad, you kidnapped me and brought me here. I don’t understand why. What do you want? You think I did all that for you, he replies, in your dreams…don’t be ridiculous. I did it for grandpa. She scoffs, you’re doing it for him. I doubt he’ll give in.
Ferit says, you act like you know him better, but I know he has a heart like cotton wool. If I have a serious talk with him and tell him, “Dear grandpa, Seyran is pregnant”… she interjects—what?! It’s just an example, he clarifies, I’m speaking hypothetically. She’s ticked. Don’t even think about lying to your grandpa about that.
Relax, Ferit replies, right now that’s not true. But it will be later. We promised grandpa we’d give him a grandchild. He reminded me of it when he was in the hospital. [IIRC, he didn’t.] We have no choice. Who do you think you’re talking to, she answers, am I a breeding animal? Go with your girlfriend and give your grandfather what he wants so badly. I told you I don’t want you, but you didn’t understand. I went back to my father’s house, and you still don’t understand.
Ferit says, until now, what have you done without wanting to? Be honest with yourself. Seyran asks, so what have I done? You’re always there to help me when I need it, he replies. You were there when I was sick and waited by my bedside for hours. When I wanted to go to America, you came to the airport and kissed me for hours. He laughs, that’s what I mean.
Seyran mocks, how sweet. Have you been writing these things in your diary? “Today Seyran touched my hand accidentally. Seyran sat next to me.” Oh my dear… pathetic. Feritciğim, I’ll say it again, I returned to my father. You couldn’t leave, but I did. Okay? You kidnapped me and brought me here despite that. And you can give your grandpa a grandchild if you want. I’m sure there are a lot of candidates who would want to have Ferit Korhan’s baby. Then why Seyran as if she’s the only one, she asks.
Ferit replies, because you will make the most beautiful mother, kariciğim. That’s true, she admits, but unfortunately, you are not destined to see this. Okay, he answers, we’ll see, and you will be surprised. Whatever you say, she says, it doesn’t matter.
Seyran says she’s tired and asks where she will sleep. What’s the rush, Ferit gripes, we’re having a nice conversation. Usually, two people talk in a conversation, she snaps back, you are having a nice conversation, not me. He asks, what’s the problem? She replies, you’re trying to fix something you can’t, and I don’t want to listen to you anymore. My father is stubborn and so is your grandpa. This can never be resolved.
Okay, Ferit says, if you don’t think I understand, that’s fine. Do you want to bet on it? She rolls her eyes. Not again. What do you want to bet? He proposes, if I win, if my grandpa and your father get together, you’ll come back to the house, okay? Seyran says that’s ridiculous. In their eyes, you’re still a spoiled little child. He asks, do you want to see what a spoiled child can do?
#45 part 2
Empty promises, Seyran says. Then take the bet, Ferit tells her. She accepts. He’s got a great idea if he wins and says, you have to kiss me. What? You have to kiss me, he repeats. But longer than the one you gave me at the airport. What do you mean, she asks. This is a bet, he replies, and if you win you can choose your prize. Whatever you want. She asks, whatever I want? Ferit says yes, I’ll do whatever you want. He’s so sure of himself. She states she wants to enroll in college immediately. He agrees.
Ferit smiles, I can picture that kiss now… it’s going to last so long. Very long. We’ll see what comes next after that, God willing. Before they shake on it, Ferit has a condition. You’re not going to try to stop me or anything like that, okay? I hope it doesn’t come to that, she replies, I’ll do my best. They shake. Seyran says, now tell me where I’m going to sleep.
Edit: Kazim is pacing and Hattuc is getting dizzy watching him, he’s wandering like an itchy donkey. What can I say, he replies, if I spit up, it lands on my moustache, if I spit down it lands on my beard. Hattuc complains, we haven’t had a wink of sleep. Just forget it. There’s nothing you can do about it now. Let’s see how things are in the morning.
What morning, Kazim answers, there’s no time. I can’t digest Halis’ words. I can’t swallow them! He told us to go back to the chicken coop! Are we roosters? He shouted—marabalar! Just like that (he imitates Halis)—marabalar! There’s no way out, let everything break! That maniac Ferit arrived, took the girl over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes and carried her away. As if I can’t get the girl back.
Hattuc reminds him that Seyran is Ferit’s legal wife. Don’t worry, your reputation will remain intact. Your damat got out of control, but it worked out well. If they had separated suddenly, then you would hear the gossip. What else can they say to us, Kazim asks, the scandalous acts were already published in the papers, weren’t they? Hattuc laments, ah, Halis, ah… was it necessary to do this?
Kazim picks up on the fact that she didn’t use Halis’ title. He questions her—what relationship do you have that you call him “Halis”? Does he call you “Hatice”? Don’t annoy me this late at night! You’re acting like a girl! He zeroes in on her—what kind of relationship do you have with Halis Aga?
Hattuc shuts that down. After all this, I should call him “ağa”? Lucky if I say his name correctly! But I’ll keep quiet for his sake. Kazim yells for Esme to make coffee with less sugar. He threatens to smash the coffee pot on her head. End edit.
Suna calls Abidin! She’s been crying. They exchange greetings and he asks, did something happen? I can’t get through to Ferit or my sister. I was worried. I thought you might know something. Are they alright? Abi says, Ferit hasn’t responded to my calls, but don’t worry, they will take care of each other. He asks, how are you? Has Kazim Bey calmed down? No, she replies, it’s not so easy this time. We finished packing and we’re returning to Antep, without looking back.
You can’t leave, Abi quickly responds. [I think she’s pleasantly surprised to hear this.] He backtracks a bit… what I mean is… Seyran and Ferit will resolve everything and you’ll be able to stay. Inshallah, Suna says and starts to cry. I got used to this place and I don’t want to go back. He asks, are you crying? Yes, she replies, this is a lot to deal with. But talking to you makes me feel better. I wish I could be with you right now, he tells her. A tear falls from his eye. I can’t offer much, but at least I would be a companion to your tears. I’m sorry to bother you, she says, I have to hang up now. Good night.
#45 part 3
I can’t believe they edited out Seyfer’s sleeping arrangement at the mountain house! I see no valid reason for it. This is a huge mistake! After a big fuss, they end up sharing a bed with strict conditions set by Seyran. In the morning, she wakes up in Ferit’s arms! And her reaction? I think it’s a must see. I can’t do it justice with a recap.

This version has auto translated English CCs available. Not perfect but good enough.
Latif brings Halis’ breakfast to his room. He says he’s not hungry. Latif urges him to eat. Doctor’s orders. Halis asks, do you think I overreacted last evening? Was I too angry? Tell me. Lately, I have turned back into my old self, when I had trouble controlling my emotions. Latif answers, Ağam, Kazim Bey deserved to hear everything you said. You’ve been very patient with him and he crossed the line. Halis worries, do you think he told Hatice everything I said? Latif tells him not to think about it and goes to get his meds.
Edit: Gulgun tries calling Ferit. No answer. Orhan says at least we know he’s with his wife. Gulgun would just like to hear her son’s voice. She heads to breakfast and asks hubby, are you coming? He gives himself a little pat down. Have you seen my wallet? They both take a quick look around. She says to look later, or they’ll be late for breakfast. [I wonder where it could be? Lol] End edit.
Edit: Kazim has Esme massaging his feet. The poor woman is half asleep. Hattuc wonders if they ever went to bed last night. He complains that Seyran still isn’t home. She reminds him Seyran is with her husband and tells him to stop making things worse for himself.
Hattuc asks Esme if the packing is done. Just a bit more Esme says. Kazim blows up at her and sends her off to finish. And then he goes on another rant about getting kicked out. Did anyone even call, he grouses, did anyone apologize? Hattuc says she had a sleepless night thinking about this. He tells her she should have heard those words in person. You would have had a heart attack, God protect you! He hugs her and kisses her on the head. Then he hollers for Esme to make breakfast. End edit.
Ferit gets up and sees Seyran in the kitchen making breakfast. He strolls over to her with a big smile. Good morning… you got up so early in the morning to make breakfast for your husband? I’m making it for myself, she replies. Don’t lie, he says, we know very well you don’t like breakfast. “Yes, my husband, I’m making a wonderful breakfast for you.” Would it kill you to say that?
Seyro turns to him. First, I always cooked breakfast in Antep. Seeing the kitchen made me realize I missed cooking. Second, I don’t want you to faint if your blood sugar drops. So, if you think about it, I’m cooking for myself. And you claim I’m the selfish one, he replies. You’re selfish even though I know you’re lying. Believe what you want, Feritciğim, she answers.
There were slight edits to this part. I’ll give you the original. They start bringing food to the table and Ferit continues to joyfully tease her. You are so sweet this morning, he says, I see you must have slept well. I slept as usual, she replies. He complains, Seyran, my right arm hurts… like it’s numb. He shakes it out and says, I wonder why. She avoids looking at him and answers, you must have slept on it. Was that me… or you, he asks. It was you, she quickly responds and walks away.
#45 part 4
Admit it for once, he exclaims, “I slept well last night, Feritcigim. Sleeping with you was wonderful! What a night that was! Oh my God, what I experienced!” What if you made me happy with these words? You’re joking, right, she responds, how can you exaggerate so much and praise yourself like that? Okay, so I exaggerate, he replies. He grabs her shoulders—my dear wife, my wife! What a wonderful breakfast she prepared for me! Mashallah!
Seyran notes that Ferit is very cheerful this morning. Ferit draws a heart with his hands and says it’s because it’s such a beautiful day. We are alone. He stops her as she passes. He takes her hair and sniffs it… ah, your sweet scent. Plus, I woke up with a head filled with great plans. What great plans, she asks. Ferit makes a thinking pose. Are you ready? Here it comes. We will bring everyone here for New Year’s dinner. She laughs.
Ferit asks, what’s so funny? She asks, who is everyone? He answers, everyone… my grandpa, your father and everyone in the yali. We will create such an atmosphere in the house that all resentments will be forgotten. We will enter the new year with new hopes. I don’t think so, she replies, all this extra oxygen didn’t do you any good. All your plans are ridiculous, but this one is the most ridiculous of all.
If it sounds ridiculous, then it benefits you, he says. This way, you will win the bet. Or maybe, you’re afraid to kiss me? He boops her nose. She swats him—idiot! Stop talking nonsense so early in the morning. I’m not going to help you. Let’s see how many people you can convince to come. Ferit says, don’t be a spoilsport. I’m not asking you to convince my grandpa or your dad. Just help me out a bit with the organization. With all that’s happened, we almost forgot to celebrate the new year. Wouldn’t you be sad?
#45 part 5
Seyran tells Ferit, I don’t know, we never celebrated the new year. Are you kidding, he asks. No, it’s true, she replies. Once the teacher gave us homework. We had to say how we spent the new year…. She pauses and looks sad. Ferit asks, and? Forget it, she answers. He wants her to finish the story.
Seyran continues, we were forbidden from celebrating even though my father would go out with his friends to celebrate. My sister and I would imagine having a tree with lights. That year we wanted to do an imaginary celebration, so I’d have something to turn in as homework. It would have been as if we really celebrated.
We see a flashback with young Seyran and Suna. Seyran narrates, we didn’t have a tree, but we could draw one. I remember drawing a tree with lights. I drew so many ornaments on it and put a star on top. My mother would watch us draw. She really liked our drawings. She’d hug us. Suddenly, my dad walked in. He was upset. “Where are you? Where are you hiding? I’m home and no one was there to greet me. What are you doing?”
Seyran continues, he told us our crayons were for school, not to have fun. He said, “crayons are expensive. Wasting time drawing, means you’re not studying.” Ferit asks, did he do anything after that? Seyran hesitates… he got upset and yelled at us. He didn’t hit us though.
Flashback Kazim starts ranting. You have too much free time. What is this? Pictures of useless things, trees, gifts, houses. You should be studying! You know very well that celebrating this day is forbidden! A tree with lights? We don’t celebrate New Year! It's a day for infidels, you ungrateful brats! I won’t allow it! He destroys the pictures and continues shouting. These notebooks are expensive! All you do is cost me money! I come home and there’s no food and no one to greet me! He pushes everything off the table and orders Esme to lock up the crayons. Drawing is forbidden! The girls cry.
Present day Seyran cries at the memory. Our drawings were torn to pieces. All of my classmates talked about how they celebrated at home, and I smiled and lied. Ferit listens intently.
And we are out.
I’m doing #46 and will post sometime Tuesday.
Dondi, your info is so great. When i can manage I go back and watch Turkish episodes because I love seeing what’s cut and listening to all the music! This part is enjoyable. I was so sad about the crayons.
It’s too bad those two can’t have some time alone to themselves. Thank you Dondi and Novelera. This tale is so complicated. I have come to care about so many of the characters.
Babachita
Thanks a million, dondi, for the excellent recap and the wonderful scene of Seyran and Ferit SLEEPING TOGETHER!!! I totally agree. Why in the world would Telemundo include that awful scene with Kazim verbally abusing his children and leave out the snuggle. I couldn't manage to get English subtitles, but I certainly got the gist.
So far Ferit's plan is working perfectly. He said they needed to get to know each other. Mostly it's ribbing each other. But both of them are more relaxed. And they are spared the constant observation of all of Ferit's family...and Yusuf.
Halis really did cut Kazim to the quick with his calling of Kazim a peasant. And he was sort of thinking he'd overdone it with Latif. Latif assured him he was right and I, of course, loved every minute of the roaring at Kazim. But I can't stop wondering how they'll come back from this.
Dondi, I so appreciate your extras. Unfortunately the links need to be copied and pasted which is practically impossible to do from my phone so I don't watch your suggestions, but you paint a wonderful picture of what happened in the cut scenes I feel like I've watched them myself.
I can't believe kazim ranted about the cost of crayons! One of the least expensive items you can buy for children. He is my least favorite character. I'm amazed his girls aren't more psychologically damaged than they appear on the surface.
Too bad the newlyweds don't stay at the mountain cabin and bond together. Living under the same roof as the rest of the family is hard on a relationship. Do Turkish couple have honeymoons? This could be there honeymoon location.
Howdy from the Alamo City CarayCaray Family. My personal thoughts on last night's episode.
*Jackass Big Ed finds out about his son on the DL & freaks out.
*Earlier in the episode, Slippery Cruz catches the secret lovers & gets pissed off LOL.
*Buji Goldie Locks finds out about something while walking to the house. The maid has to pick up the groceries sigh.
*Slippery Cruz & Co., barged into Eugenio's house & arrest Antonia.
*Lobo, Adela, Hugo find out about Antonia getting arrested. Of course, Lobo confronts Slippery Cruz.
*Looking forward to seeing the Karma anvils in store for Lady Macbeth.
Thanks Dondi for your link to the episode with the cuddling scene. I took a peek and enjoyed it, and I am not even watching this dizi. I just glance at the recaps here from time to time. Not sure I could stand to watch Kazim for very long.
